- 0:00Speaker 1: Fragment of the Book of Noah, Chapters one hundred and
- 0:03Speaker 1: six and one hundred and seven, Chapter one hundred and six.
- 0:08Speaker 1: And after some days, my son Methuselah took a wife
- 0:10Speaker 1: for his son, Lemech, and she became pregnant by him
- 0:14Speaker 1: and bore a son. And his body was white as snow,
- 0:17Speaker 1: and red as the blooming of a rose, and the
- 0:20Speaker 1: hair of his head and his long locks were white
- 0:22Speaker 1: as wool, and his eyes beautiful. And when he opened
- 0:26Speaker 1: his eyes, he lighted up the whole house like the sun,
- 0:29Speaker 1: and the whole house was very bright. And thereupon he
- 0:32Speaker 1: arose in the hands of the midwife, opened his mouth
- 0:36Speaker 1: and conversed with the Lord of Righteousness. And his father, Lamech,
- 0:41Speaker 1: was afraid of him, and fled and came to his
- 0:43Speaker 1: father Methuselah, and he sat unto him. I have begotten
- 0:47Speaker 1: a strange son, diverse from and unlike man, and resembling
- 0:51Speaker 1: the sons of the God of Heaven. And his nature
- 0:54Speaker 1: is different, and he is not like us. And his
- 0:57Speaker 1: eyes are as the rays of the sun, and his
- 1:00Speaker 1: countenance is glorious. And it seems to me that he
- 1:03Speaker 1: has not sprung from me, but from the angels, and
- 1:06Speaker 1: I fear that in his days a wonder may be
- 1:08Speaker 1: wrought on the earth. And now, my father, I am
- 1:11Speaker 1: here to petition thee and implore THEE that thou mayst
- 1:14Speaker 1: go to Enoch, our father, and learn from him the truth,
- 1:17Speaker 1: for his dwelling places amongst the angels. And when Methuselah
- 1:21Speaker 1: heard the words of his son, he came to me
- 1:24Speaker 1: to the ends of the earth, for he had heard
- 1:26Speaker 1: that I was there. And he cried aloud, and I
- 1:29Speaker 1: heard his voice, and I came to him, and I said,
- 1:32Speaker 1: unto him, behold here am I, my son. Wherefore hast
- 1:35Speaker 1: thou come to me? And he answered and said, because
- 1:39Speaker 1: of a great cause of anxiety have I come to thee,
- 1:41Speaker 1: And because of a disturbing vision have I approached. And
- 1:45Speaker 1: now my father hear me unto lmech my son. There
- 1:49Speaker 1: hath been born a son, the like of whom there
- 1:52Speaker 1: is none. And his nature is not like man's nature.
- 1:56Speaker 1: And the color of his body is whiter than snow,
- 1:59Speaker 1: and redder than the bloom of a rose. And the
- 2:02Speaker 1: hair of his head is whiter than white wool, and
- 2:05Speaker 1: his eyes are like the rays of the sun. And
- 2:07Speaker 1: he opened his eyes, and thereupon lighted up the whole house,
- 2:11Speaker 1: and he arose in the hands of the midwife, and
- 2:14Speaker 1: opened his mouth and blessed the Lord of Heaven. And
- 2:17Speaker 1: his father Lamech became afraid and fled to me, and
- 2:21Speaker 1: did not believe that he was sprung from him, but
- 2:23Speaker 1: that he was in the likeness of the angels of heaven.
- 2:26Speaker 1: And behold, I have come to Thee that thou mayest
- 2:29Speaker 1: make known to me the truth. And I Enoch answered
- 2:33Speaker 1: and said unto him, the Lord will do a new
- 2:35Speaker 1: thing on the earth. And this I have already seen
- 2:38Speaker 1: in a vision, and make known to THEE that in
- 2:41Speaker 1: the generation of my father Jared, some of the angels
- 2:44Speaker 1: of heaven transgressed the word of the Lord. And behold,
- 2:48Speaker 1: they commit sin and transgress the law, and have united
- 2:51Speaker 1: themselves with women, and commit sin with them, and have
- 2:54Speaker 1: married some of them, and have begot children by them.
- 2:58Speaker 1: And they shall produce on the earth giants, not according
- 3:01Speaker 1: to the spirit, but according to the flesh. And there
- 3:05Speaker 1: shall be a great punishment on the earth, and the
- 3:08Speaker 1: earth shall be cleansed from all impurity. Yea, there shall
- 3:11Speaker 1: come a great destruction over the whole earth, and there
- 3:14Speaker 1: shall be a deluge and a great destruction for one year,
- 3:18Speaker 1: and this son, who has been born unto you, shall
- 3:21Speaker 1: be left on the earth, and his three children shall
- 3:24Speaker 1: be saved with him. When all mankind that are on
- 3:27Speaker 1: the earth shall die, he and his sons shall be saved.
- 3:32Speaker 1: And now make known to thy son, Lamech, that he
- 3:35Speaker 1: who has been born is in truth his son, and
- 3:38Speaker 1: call his name Noah, for he shall be left to you,
- 3:41Speaker 1: and he and his sons shall be saved from the
- 3:44Speaker 1: destruction which shall come upon the earth on account of
- 3:47Speaker 1: all the sin and all the unrighteousness which shall be
- 3:49Speaker 1: consummated on the earth in his days. And after that
- 3:53Speaker 1: there shall be still more unrighteousness than that which was
- 3:56Speaker 1: first consummated on the earth. For I know the mysteries
- 3:59Speaker 1: of the Holy Ones, for he the Lord has showed
- 4:02Speaker 1: me and informed me, and I have read them in
- 4:05Speaker 1: the Heavenly Tablets Chapter one hundred and seven. And I
- 4:09Speaker 1: saw written on them that generation upon generation shall transgress
- 4:14Speaker 1: till a generation of righteousness arises, and transgression is destroyed,
- 4:19Speaker 1: and sin passes away from the earth, and all manner
- 4:22Speaker 1: of good comes upon it. And now, my son, go
- 4:25Speaker 1: and make known to thy son Lamech, that this son
- 4:28Speaker 1: which has been born is in truth his son, and
- 4:32Speaker 1: that this is no lie. And when Methuselah had heard
- 4:35Speaker 1: the words of his father Enoch, for he had shown
- 4:38Speaker 1: to him everything in secret, he returned and showed them
- 4:41Speaker 1: to him, and called the name of that son Noah,
- 4:45Speaker 1: for he will comfort the earth after all the destruction.
- 4:48Speaker 1: Chapter one hundred and eight, an appendix to the Book
- 4:52Speaker 1: of Enoch. Chapter one hundred and eight, another book which
- 4:56Speaker 1: Enoch wrote for his son Methuselah, And for those who
- 4:59Speaker 1: will come after him and keep the law in the
- 5:01Speaker 1: last days. Ye who have done good, shall wait for
- 5:05Speaker 1: those days till an end is made of those who
- 5:07Speaker 1: work evil, and an end of the might of the transgressors.
- 5:12Speaker 1: And wait ye, indeed, till sin has passed away. For
- 5:16Speaker 1: their names shall be blotted out of the Book of
- 5:18Speaker 1: Life and out of the holy books, and their seed
- 5:21Speaker 1: shall be destroyed forever, and their spirits shall be slain.
- 5:25Speaker 1: And they shall cry and make lamentation in a place
- 5:28Speaker 1: that is a chaotic wilderness, and in the fire shall
- 5:31Speaker 1: they burn. For there is no earth there. And I
- 5:35Speaker 1: saw there something like an invisible cloud. For by reason
- 5:38Speaker 1: of its depth, I could not look over. And I
- 5:41Speaker 1: saw a flame of fire blazing brightly, and things like
- 5:45Speaker 1: shining mountains circling and sweeping to and fro. And I
- 5:48Speaker 1: ask one of the Holy angels who was with me,
- 5:50Speaker 1: and said, unto him, what is this shining thing? For
- 5:54Speaker 1: it is not a heaven, but only the flame of
- 5:56Speaker 1: a blazing fire, and the voice of weeping and crying
- 5:59Speaker 1: in lamentation and strong pain. And he said, unto me,
- 6:03Speaker 1: this place which thou seest, here are cast the spirits
- 6:07Speaker 1: of sinners and blasphemers, and of those who work wickedness,
- 6:10Speaker 1: and of those who pervert everything that the Lord hath
- 6:13Speaker 1: spoken through the mouth of the prophets, even the things
- 6:16Speaker 1: that shall be, for some of them are written and
- 6:19Speaker 1: inscribed above in the heaven, in order that the angels
- 6:22Speaker 1: may read them and know that which shall befall the
- 6:25Speaker 1: sinners and the spirits of the humble, and of those
- 6:28Speaker 1: who have afflicted their bodies and been recompensed by God,
- 6:32Speaker 1: and of those who have been put to shame by
- 6:34Speaker 1: wicked men. Who loved God and loved neither gold nor silver,
- 6:39Speaker 1: nor any of the good things which are in the world,
- 6:41Speaker 1: but gave over their bodies to torture, who, since they
- 6:44Speaker 1: came into being, longed not after earthly food, but regarded
- 6:48Speaker 1: everything as a passing breath, and lived accordingly. And the
- 6:52Speaker 1: Lord tried them much, and their spirits were found pure,
- 6:55Speaker 1: so that they should bless His name. And all the
- 6:58Speaker 1: blessings destined for them I have recounted in the books.
- 7:02Speaker 1: And He hath assigned them their recompense, because they have
- 7:05Speaker 1: been found to be such as loved heaven more than
- 7:08Speaker 1: their life in the world. And though they were trodden
- 7:10Speaker 1: under foot of wicked men, and experienced abuse and reviling
- 7:15Speaker 1: from them, and were put to shame, yet they blessed me.
- 7:18Speaker 1: And now I will summon the spirits of the good
- 7:21Speaker 1: who belong to the generation of light. And I will
- 7:24Speaker 1: transform those who were born in darkness, who in the
- 7:27Speaker 1: flesh were not recompensed with such honor as their faithfulness deserved.
- 7:31Speaker 1: And I will bring forth in shining light those who
- 7:34Speaker 1: have loved my holy name, and I will seat each
- 7:37Speaker 1: on the throne of his honor, and they shall be
- 7:40Speaker 1: resplendent for times without number. For righteousness is the judgment
- 7:44Speaker 1: of God. For to the faithful, he will give faithfulness
- 7:48Speaker 1: in the habitation of upright paths, and they shall see
- 7:51Speaker 1: those who were born into darkness led into darkness. While
- 7:54Speaker 1: the righteous shall be resplendent, and the sinners shall cry
- 7:58Speaker 1: aloud and see them resplendent. And they indeed will go
- 8:01Speaker 1: where days and seasons are prescribed for them, and of
