- 0:02Speaker 1: Welcome in, all you Faithfuls and traders for another episode
- 0:04Speaker 1: of By Order of the Faithfuls Dancing with the Stars
- 0:06Speaker 1: the Next Pro Edition. Well's here solo Dolores is doing
- 0:11Speaker 1: housewive things. But don't worry. I've got star of Dancing
- 0:16Speaker 1: with the Stars the Next Pro with me right now.
- 0:18Speaker 1: Stephanie Sosa, who's professional dancer from Utah who competed on
- 0:21Speaker 1: Dancing with the Stars Next Pro after previously serving as
- 0:24Speaker 1: a troup member on Dancing with the Stars Season thirty three.
- 0:27Speaker 2: Her brother Ezra is a current.
- 0:30Speaker 1: Dancing with the Stars pro and her brother Tristan is
- 0:33Speaker 1: also a professional dancer. Stephanie and Ezra made history together
- 0:36Speaker 1: as the first brother sister duo to reach the top
- 0:38Speaker 1: ten in the same season of So you Think you
- 0:40Speaker 1: Can dance? Welcome to the show, Stephanie, How are you good?
- 0:44Speaker 2: I'm good?
- 0:45Speaker 3: How are you? I'm so excited to be here.
- 0:47Speaker 2: Does anyone not dance in your family? Like, what's happening here?
- 0:51Speaker 3: Yeah, it's crazy because actually my parents are soccer players,
- 0:54Speaker 3: so it's kind of crazy that we all ended up
- 0:56Speaker 3: dancing and that like making it our career. So it's great. Yeah,
- 1:00Speaker 3: I definitely thought I was going to be a soccer
- 1:01Speaker 3: player when I was little.
- 1:04Speaker 2: Were you a good soccer player?
- 1:05Speaker 3: I was? My dad said I was a really good defender.
- 1:08Speaker 1: Yeah, well it makes sense, though. You need to have
- 1:12Speaker 1: good footwork when it comes to soccer. You need to
- 1:14Speaker 1: have quick feet, You need to have really good balance,
- 1:17Speaker 1: and you need to be athletic and fast, and you
- 1:20Speaker 1: have to be all of those things and much more
- 1:22Speaker 1: to be a dancer. Talk to me about getting on
- 1:28Speaker 1: the next pro you know, I come from the reality
- 1:30Speaker 1: TV world. I love just like the kind of behind
- 1:33Speaker 1: the scenes casting stuff. How did you find out you
- 1:36Speaker 1: to be on the show? Who called you? And how
- 1:39Speaker 1: did it all come about?
- 1:41Speaker 3: Yeah? So it was crazy because I got an email
- 1:44Speaker 3: in November and I had like heard of the show,
- 1:47Speaker 3: like briefly, like some gossip. They're like, there's this new
- 1:49Speaker 3: pro show, and I honestly thought it was like a scam.
- 1:52Speaker 3: So when I got this email, they were like, are
- 1:55Speaker 3: you interested in auditioning? And I sent it to Ezra
- 1:57Speaker 3: immediately and I was like, what is this? Is this
- 2:00Speaker 3: it's a scam? You know, because sometimes you get those
- 2:01Speaker 3: like weird emails that are like Love islandcasting, like you
- 2:04Speaker 3: never know so as it was like, it's definitely not
- 2:08Speaker 3: a scam, and I'm like, first of all, why did
- 2:10Speaker 3: you tell me about the show? And then second he
- 2:14Speaker 3: was just like, do you want to do it? And
- 2:15Speaker 3: I was like, you know, absolutely, Like any chance for
- 2:18Speaker 3: me to come back and just show my growth and
- 2:20Speaker 3: just come back stronger, I'm like one hundred percent in
- 2:24Speaker 3: and send in my audition tapes. There was a couple
- 2:27Speaker 3: of round of auditions and then I found out that
- 2:30Speaker 3: I booked it when I was in rehearsals for the
- 2:32Speaker 3: Super Bowl, so definitely was a couple of months process,
- 2:35Speaker 3: but it was It was crazy.
- 2:38Speaker 1: And I guess it's like, this was your your super
- 2:41Speaker 1: Bowl coming on the show. What was it like going,
- 2:46Speaker 1: like you guys film it in Australia. Was it fun
- 2:49Speaker 1: to go to like a completely different part of the
- 2:51Speaker 1: world to go do what you love to do, which
- 2:53Speaker 1: is your craft and dance.
- 2:56Speaker 3: It was honestly kind of scary because, like I, I'm
- 2:59Speaker 3: very much a family like homebody, so the fact that
- 3:01Speaker 3: we were gonna be filming it away out of LA
- 3:04Speaker 3: out of my comfort zone, was really terrifying, but also
- 3:07Speaker 3: excited because I've never been to Australia. And from like
- 3:10Speaker 3: what like Robert Irwin like says about Australia. I was like,
- 3:13Speaker 3: I'm so down, but I was always a little scared.
- 3:16Speaker 2: So what was it like working with the entire cast?
- 3:21Speaker 1: I mean, you know, Robert's now coming into this hosting world,
- 3:26Speaker 1: but he, you know, really was a celebrity on the
- 3:30Speaker 1: last season. Then you have Mark and his mother there
- 3:33Speaker 1: who seemed like they're always fighting. What was what was
- 3:36Speaker 1: the energy like with the judges and the hosts?
- 3:40Speaker 3: It was it was honestly so entertaining for the dancers,
- 3:43Speaker 3: Like when we weren't dancing and we were listening to
- 3:45Speaker 3: like the judges' comments, it was like my favorite part
- 3:47Speaker 3: because there was that like a little back and forth
- 3:49Speaker 3: with Shirley and Mark and that is like, honestly like
- 3:52Speaker 3: so me and Ezra Codd. So I was just giggling
- 3:55Speaker 3: inside because I was like I relate to that so much.
- 3:58Speaker 3: And then Robert for me, was the best hosts, Like
- 4:00Speaker 3: he made it feel so like like dancing with Stars,
- 4:04Speaker 3: Like I felt like I was like kind of doing
- 4:05Speaker 3: dancement Stars again, just because like his posting and it
- 4:08Speaker 3: just felt like we were in a skybox. It was,
- 4:10Speaker 3: it was, it was crazy, Like that experience for me
- 4:13Speaker 3: was just something that I'll never forget.
- 4:15Speaker 1: So my only complaint with the show right now is
- 4:19Speaker 1: I wish there was a live audience because I feel
- 4:21Speaker 1: like that different feel to the dances when it's just
- 4:26Speaker 1: you know, you and your partner and then the judges
- 4:30Speaker 1: like were you guys ever wishing that that people were
- 4:33Speaker 1: there experiencing it and feeling the emotion.
- 4:37Speaker 3: Oh yeah, because I definitely feel like they're like cheering
- 4:40Speaker 3: and just having like people there to watch you and
- 4:42Speaker 3: like colop for you at the end, like it really
- 4:44Speaker 3: does like like I don't know when people are yelling
- 4:46Speaker 3: my name or cheering for me, I go I danced better.
- 4:49Speaker 3: So I really do wish that they had a live audience.
- 4:51Speaker 3: I feel like it would have made it feel more
- 4:53Speaker 3: like dancing with stars, but maybe like the whole point
- 4:55Speaker 3: was to kind of like scare us and be like
- 4:57Speaker 3: this is a competition. So yeah, I demly wish.
- 5:01Speaker 1: Yeah, Like, have you ever seen like a clip of
- 5:03Speaker 1: seinfeld Er Friends when they take out the laugh track
- 5:06Speaker 1: and it's.
- 5:07Speaker 3: Yeah, that's definitely what it felt like, especially when we
- 5:10Speaker 3: did something crazy and wow, like we just had to
- 5:12Speaker 3: wait for the judges to say anything like we honestly
- 5:14Speaker 3: didn't know how we danced until they talked to us.
- 5:17Speaker 1: So yeah, let's go back to the beginning. What's your
- 5:21Speaker 1: earliest memory of dancing.
- 5:23Speaker 3: Well, that's a good question. My earliest memory of dancing
- 5:28Speaker 3: was this thing called it's like a Mexican style dance,
- 5:32Speaker 3: And I mean, as we were enrolled in our church
- 5:35Speaker 3: and they put us in this like dance style, and
- 5:37Speaker 3: I remember just being like, this is fun. And then
- 5:41Speaker 3: after that we like slowly got into all the other styles.
- 5:43Speaker 3: But yeah, it definitely was like really cool for me,
- 5:46Speaker 3: Like I that was like definitely my first memory, especially
- 5:48Speaker 3: being Mexicana, and it was just it was so fun.
- 5:51Speaker 1: Was there any sibling rivalry between you and your brothers,
- 5:54Speaker 1: because I mean, you guys are all really good dancers,
- 5:56Speaker 1: or did it did it help you guys push each
- 5:59Speaker 1: other to be better or did it spark fights?
- 6:03Speaker 3: Growing up, there was a little bit of competition like
- 6:06Speaker 3: between the like like when we do ballroom, especially because
- 6:09Speaker 3: we didn't get a dance with each other, like I
- 6:11Speaker 3: dance with my other brother for a couple of years,
- 6:14Speaker 3: but after that we all had individual partners and we
- 6:16Speaker 3: were kind of in the same age like groups, So
- 6:20Speaker 3: there was that little competition between me and Z. But yeah,
- 6:24Speaker 3: now that we're adults and like an entertainment business, like,
- 6:27Speaker 3: there's definitely no competition vibes like we're very proud of
- 6:30Speaker 3: each other, and I feel like because we are successful
- 6:33Speaker 3: in our careers, it really does help each other, if
- 6:35Speaker 3: that makes sense, Like I'll make connections with choreographers or
- 6:38Speaker 3: have projects and I'll introduce him, Like we definitely really
- 6:41Speaker 3: do help each other, and then vice versa with the
- 6:43Speaker 3: show and him mentoring me through this process. So yeah,
- 6:47Speaker 3: first it was competition growing up, and now as adults
- 6:49Speaker 3: it's not.
- 6:50Speaker 2: So yeah, rising tide raises aul ships, I guess.
- 6:54Speaker 3: Yeah, definitely was there little like sibling rivalry growing up.
- 6:58Speaker 3: Now for sure, especially when we compete, I.
- 7:01Speaker 1: Feel like that makes you better, right, Like I think
- 7:03Speaker 1: the only reason why I was a really good athlete
- 7:05Speaker 1: and played like ball in college was because I was
- 7:08Speaker 1: having to go up against my brothers who were all
- 7:11Speaker 1: so much older than me and bigger than me and
- 7:13Speaker 1: stronger than me. And yeah, you know, yeah, so yeah,
- 7:17Speaker 1: I think that we're now like best of friends, but
- 7:21Speaker 1: like at the time, we fought and it made me
- 7:24Speaker 1: a better athlete, and I imagine that was the case
- 7:27Speaker 1: for you.
- 7:28Speaker 3: Yeah, for sure, especially because as just like the technician
- 7:31Speaker 3: of the family, like he's for me. I honestly feel
- 7:33Speaker 3: like he's the most talented dncer because he has like
- 7:35Speaker 3: the technique and the star like quality. So he definitely
- 7:39Speaker 3: pushed me a lot growing up. I was like, I
- 7:40Speaker 3: need to get better in my technique to match him.
- 7:42Speaker 3: So yeah, and don't tell him I told you this,
- 7:46Speaker 3: never let me live it out.
- 7:48Speaker 2: Yeah, what would he say about you?
- 7:50Speaker 3: He would tell me that I'm more of like the
- 7:52Speaker 3: star quality of the family, but I need to work
- 7:55Speaker 3: on my technique. But he doesn't need to know he said.
- 8:00Speaker 1: This, Okay, all right, hopefully doesn't listen to the show.
- 8:04Speaker 1: You ended up specializing in ballroom Latin. Why did you
- 8:10Speaker 1: gravitate towards those?
- 8:13Speaker 3: Well, first my brother started doing it, and I was
- 8:16Speaker 3: like kind of obsessed with just partnering and Latin music,
- 8:18Speaker 3: you know, especially thing Latina growing up, and I remember
- 8:22Speaker 3: like seeing salsa and all that. I was like, oh,
- 8:24Speaker 3: I want to do that, like it feels like natural
- 8:26Speaker 3: to me. So I think just it was sad because
- 8:28Speaker 3: like I gravitated towards it, like last, but it was
- 8:32Speaker 3: definitely like it's like what I'm like, easiest for my
- 8:34Speaker 3: body to do. But yeah, Ezra about roped in a
- 8:37Speaker 3: ballroom like a lot center than me because there was
- 8:39Speaker 3: no boys at my dat studio and basically ever girl
- 8:42Speaker 3: wanted to dance with him, so he kind of started
- 8:44Speaker 3: it and then I followed suit.
- 8:45Speaker 1: So speaking of you know, you guys were the first
- 8:49Speaker 1: brother sister duo in the top ten on the same season,
- 8:53Speaker 1: so you think he can dance. I got to know, like,
- 8:55Speaker 1: what was that experience like and was it fun or
- 9:00Speaker 1: stressful competing alongside your own brother.
- 9:04Speaker 3: Oh, that's a good question. At first, it was like
- 9:08Speaker 3: because there had never been to siblings on the same season.
- 9:11Speaker 3: So when we auditioned together, in the back of our minds,
- 9:14Speaker 3: we kind of knew that like only one of us
- 9:16Speaker 3: was going to make it to the live show, Like
- 9:17Speaker 3: we didn't expect both of us to. So when we
- 9:21Speaker 3: did make it like the same time, it was like,
- 9:24Speaker 3: holy cow, like we just made history. My parents were
- 9:27Speaker 3: really proud of us. But it was definitely hard because
- 9:31Speaker 3: you know, we obviously wanted to go really far in
- 9:32Speaker 3: the show, but he made a father than me on
- 9:35Speaker 3: the show. And it was just cool to be able
- 9:37Speaker 3: to support him and just you know, see how far
- 9:39Speaker 3: he could go. And yeah, it wasn't any competition vibes.
- 9:43Speaker 3: I think we were both like very like stressed and
- 9:45Speaker 3: just had each other in that process, which I'm so
- 9:48Speaker 3: grateful because that environment can be a little scary.
- 9:52Speaker 1: I'm fascinated with the schedules that you guys keep, like,
- 9:57Speaker 1: like I imagine it's very regimented, Like can you give
- 10:02Speaker 1: us a day in the life of being a dancer?
- 10:05Speaker 1: Like wake up, work out, like eat, like work on routines, choreograph,
- 10:12Speaker 1: Like what how does like a normal day look for you?
- 10:16Speaker 3: Or like when I'm on like the show or Next
- 10:18Speaker 3: Pro or just in general.
- 10:20Speaker 1: Yeah, I guess, like, let's let's talk about the show.
- 10:23Speaker 1: When you were on the Next Pro. What were those
- 10:25Speaker 1: days like, because it seems like it must be overwhelming
- 10:29Speaker 1: how much you have you've got to do.
- 10:31Speaker 3: Yeah, it was crazy because we'd be our call time
- 10:34Speaker 3: was six in the morning, we'd eat breakfast, they'd have
- 10:36Speaker 3: us micd because they were filming everything in the house,
- 10:39Speaker 3: and then from there we would figure out our challenge.
- 10:41Speaker 3: So like let's say's like episode one or two, we'd
- 10:43Speaker 3: figure out our challenge, and then we'd go start filming
- 10:46Speaker 3: like that whole intro and then go directly into rehearsal,
- 10:49Speaker 3: so we basically just like we're on go mode. We
- 10:51Speaker 3: rehearse for three hours and then as soon as we
- 10:54Speaker 3: were done, we would do interviews, and then after the interviews,
- 10:57Speaker 3: we would head back to the house, do more interview,
- 11:00Speaker 3: have a rehearsal at the house because there's a studio there,
- 11:03Speaker 3: do more interviews, film live like live reality in the house,
- 11:06Speaker 3: and then get to bed by like maybe sometimes eleven
- 11:10Speaker 3: if we were lucky, and just repeat. So those days
- 11:12Speaker 3: were like you never had a chance to really like
- 11:15Speaker 3: sit and enjoy Australia, but that's just like a competition show.
- 11:19Speaker 3: And then the next day was kind of the same,
- 11:22Speaker 3: and then the next day was show day and we'd
- 11:25Speaker 3: get there really early, do camera blocking in the morning,
- 11:28Speaker 3: and then start filming the episode and then somebody went home.
- 11:32Speaker 3: So it was just like go mode, like really when
- 11:34Speaker 3: they tell like, I don't remember having a second to
- 11:37Speaker 3: just like have a full day. But we did have
- 11:39Speaker 3: one day off after like two a day episode, like
- 11:42Speaker 3: two episodes, and then we had one day off to
- 11:44Speaker 3: like recover and then we just go back right into it,
- 11:47Speaker 3: so definitely get safe.
- 11:51Speaker 1: Are you filming an episode a week or are you
- 11:54Speaker 1: filming two episodes a week?
- 11:56Speaker 3: Two episodes a week? Jeez?
- 11:59Speaker 2: That's yeah, that's It was like Dancing with.
- 12:01Speaker 3: The Stars, but like squished into like yeah two things. Yeah,
- 12:05Speaker 3: dang without our botes.
- 12:07Speaker 2: Oh they took your phones away? Mm hmmm yeah. Sometimes,
- 12:11Speaker 2: you know, I've done enough of these shows.
- 12:12Speaker 1: Were like it's kind of nice to like unplug from those,
- 12:15Speaker 1: you know, but it is very stressful because you're like,
- 12:18Speaker 1: I don't know what's happening with my family, Like what's
- 12:20Speaker 1: going you know, like whatever? Would they would they give
- 12:23Speaker 1: you guys time to like FaceTime someone every once in
- 12:27Speaker 1: a while.
- 12:28Speaker 3: Yeah, every two episodes we get our phones back for
- 12:30Speaker 3: like ten to twenty minutes and like FaceTime our loved
- 12:32Speaker 3: ones for you know, a couple of minutes. And then
- 12:35Speaker 3: that was a just check in, say we're alive and
- 12:38Speaker 3: we were in the next round, and then move on.
- 12:39Speaker 3: But yeah, they very they kept a tight shit with us,
- 12:42Speaker 3: which made the process very like isolating, but in a
- 12:45Speaker 3: good way because like we really had to just focus
- 12:47Speaker 3: on the competition. Like there was literally no distractions it
- 12:50Speaker 3: was it was either you stay or you go, So
- 12:52Speaker 3: it was it was good to like lock in, if
- 12:55Speaker 3: that makes sense.
- 12:57Speaker 1: I see when I think about you on this show,
- 13:01Speaker 1: I feel like you put so much pressure on yourself
- 13:04Speaker 1: during the competition, and I almost felt like you were
- 13:07Speaker 1: at a disadvantage because of your brother being on the show.
- 13:10Speaker 1: That like that, like you thought that everyone expected something
- 13:14Speaker 1: from you, and like I think Jenna even said, like
- 13:17Speaker 1: you need to get out of your own way.
- 13:20Speaker 2: Yeah, what do you wish he had done differently for
- 13:23Speaker 2: the next pro?
- 13:25Speaker 3: I that's like good que. I mean I I've thought
- 13:28Speaker 3: about this a lot, especially after seeing the episodes like
- 13:30Speaker 3: play out, and like you know, everyone knows the kind
- 13:33Speaker 3: of the result for me. My Yeah, my biggest regret
- 13:37Speaker 3: is definitely not like getting in my way, like in
- 13:40Speaker 3: my confidence going down that last week really took a
- 13:43Speaker 3: toll on me, and I just wish that I could
- 13:45Speaker 3: have kept that, like you know, that fight. I know
- 13:48Speaker 3: I still had it, but I felt like a little
- 13:50Speaker 3: part of Chico was gone, and Jenny even mentioned that,
- 13:53Speaker 3: and so like I definitely learned a lesson there just
- 13:55Speaker 3: to keep fighting and pushing. And I'm a fighter always,
- 13:58Speaker 3: but yeah, I definitely felt, you know, that that pressure
- 14:01Speaker 3: get to me. But yeah, it was a learning lesson
- 14:06Speaker 3: for me, and I just I really wanted it, and
- 14:08Speaker 3: I think that was like the biggest thing I took
- 14:10Speaker 3: away was how badly I wanted this job and how
- 14:12Speaker 3: badly I wanted to prove myself. And yeah, I am
- 14:15Speaker 3: Asra's sister, and I do have connections with the show
- 14:18Speaker 3: and they know me and everything, but I really really
- 14:20Speaker 3: just like wanted to earn my spot on the show
- 14:23Speaker 3: and like prove to them that I have quality and
- 14:26Speaker 3: I am an amazing dancer and choreographer and have all
- 14:28Speaker 3: of the skill sets that you need to be a pro.
- 14:31Speaker 3: And that was just like my mindset. So I think
- 14:33Speaker 3: sometimes when you have that much pressure, it can really,
- 14:36Speaker 3: you know, get to you. So that's something that I
- 14:38Speaker 3: like took away just being like, Okay, even if there
- 14:40Speaker 3: is all this pressure, like no, you belong there and
- 14:42Speaker 3: you just got to keep going.
- 14:50Speaker 1: The producers put you guys in a tough situation, right,
- 14:55Speaker 1: like the fourth grade pe dodgeball picking of t mates
- 15:00Speaker 1: thing is pretty brutal. So you know, we got to
- 15:04Speaker 1: talk about you know, Tristan wasn't your first choice. Yeah, right,
- 15:11Speaker 1: and and he was really hurt by like no one
- 15:15Speaker 1: picking him.
- 15:18Speaker 2: Take me through that day, what was going through your head?
- 15:23Speaker 1: You know? And then and then going forward, how are
- 15:25Speaker 1: you able to get Tristan out of his own way
- 15:28Speaker 1: to be able to do what you guys needed to
- 15:30Speaker 1: do and not be like I think he said he
- 15:32Speaker 1: was he was bitter or he was upset top that
- 15:37Speaker 1: seemed like it was a it was almost unfair for you.
- 15:42Speaker 1: They put you in a really bad situation and it
- 15:45Speaker 1: just didn't work out.
- 15:47Speaker 3: Yeah, me interested and got really close like episode one
- 15:51Speaker 3: and two. He was someone that I felt like, kind
- 15:53Speaker 3: of like my brother, that makes sense, Like I had
- 15:55Speaker 3: a deep emotional connection with him because been through similar things.
- 15:58Speaker 3: We experienced that rumba together. But I really just wanted
- 16:01Speaker 3: to dance with somebody else just because I wanted to
- 16:04Speaker 3: show the judges that I could have chemistry slash. I
- 16:08Speaker 3: can create magic with any partner I'm given. Like I
- 16:11Speaker 3: think that's something that if you're a pro, that you
- 16:13Speaker 3: have to be good at doing, like being a great
- 16:15Speaker 3: dancer with anyone that you dance with. And I just
- 16:17Speaker 3: wanted them to see different side of me. And I
- 16:20Speaker 3: wasn't expecting him to be so upset at me, Like
- 16:23Speaker 3: I definitely did not want to hurt his feelings, and
- 16:25Speaker 3: so when I had to ultimately dance with him, it
- 16:28Speaker 3: was hard because I knew as a friend that I
- 16:31Speaker 3: like messed up. But at the same time, I had
- 16:34Speaker 3: that in the back of my mind, being like I've
- 16:36Speaker 3: worked so hard to be here. I need to put
- 16:39Speaker 3: myself first and I need to fight because this is
- 16:42Speaker 3: so much more than just a dance competition for me,
- 16:44Speaker 3: Like this is like my livelihood. Like I felt like
- 16:46Speaker 3: life or death. But I was able to kind of
- 16:50Speaker 3: get him out of that funk and just remind him
- 16:51Speaker 3: of the why we're here. We's got to keep pushing.
- 16:54Speaker 3: And one thing that Ezra told me going into this
- 16:57Speaker 3: competition was whatever cards that you're dealt, you have to
- 17:00Speaker 3: just make the most out of it. And he's like
- 17:02Speaker 3: I learned that when he danced with Na delv Like
- 17:04Speaker 3: he was given some crazy cards and he was able
- 17:07Speaker 3: to just spin the narrative and just create just magic,
- 17:10Speaker 3: and he like blew up and he was just you know,
- 17:13Speaker 3: so I He's like, whatever cards are, like, Dell, it's
- 17:16Speaker 3: the universe testing you, and you just have to make
- 17:18Speaker 3: the most out of it and stay so positive. So
- 17:20Speaker 3: even though I had to dance with him again the
- 17:23Speaker 3: same dance I already did, I was like, Okay, this
- 17:25Speaker 3: is my chance to show the judges that I can
- 17:27Speaker 3: QUI graph a different type of rumba. You know, I
- 17:29Speaker 3: can still create magic even though I'm given kind of
- 17:32Speaker 3: the same thing. And that was my mentality just that
- 17:35Speaker 3: whole week. And I you know, I know he was
- 17:37Speaker 3: mad at me, and I'm like, there's if I'm ever
- 17:38Speaker 3: a pro on the show, there's going to be times
- 17:40Speaker 3: where my celebrity is going to be upset at me
- 17:42Speaker 3: or I'm not gonna you know, the attitude isn't going
- 17:44Speaker 3: to be the best, But I have to just learn
- 17:46Speaker 3: how to navigate that. And I think that's how I
- 17:48Speaker 3: approached that week, was just like, how am I gonna
- 17:51Speaker 3: get the job done by so being respectful and just
- 17:54Speaker 3: really just nailing it. So that was, Yeah, that was
- 17:56Speaker 3: that week.
- 17:58Speaker 1: One hundred percent agree with you, And I was gonna
- 17:59Speaker 1: I was gonna to say, you know, if the mission
- 18:02Speaker 1: statement of this show is to get someone to be
- 18:05Speaker 1: a pro and have to deal with celebrity, and listen,
- 18:11Speaker 1: I'm got around enough celebrities to know, like they're not
- 18:12Speaker 1: the easiest people to deal with. I actually feel like
- 18:15Speaker 1: I learn more about you as someone who should be
- 18:18Speaker 1: a pro by that situation and how you handle it
- 18:20Speaker 1: with him, because you could very easy. Like for me,
- 18:23Speaker 1: I probably be like, dude, calm down, you know what
- 18:26Speaker 1: do you want me to do? We already danced together,
- 18:27Speaker 1: and but you didn't do that. You like, listen to him,
- 18:31Speaker 1: you heard him, you flipped it around. And if I'm
- 18:35Speaker 1: casting that show, I'm thinking, well, Stephanie is really really
- 18:39Speaker 1: good with people even when things are going sideways, which
- 18:43Speaker 1: is what you need for when you're doing the big show.
- 18:46Speaker 1: I guess I want to talk about you mentioned it earlier,
- 18:50Speaker 1: is like it kind of just threw it in there
- 18:52Speaker 1: like a throwaway line. But you got to work on
- 18:55Speaker 1: the halftime show with Bad Bunny. What was that experience like,
- 19:00Speaker 1: because that must have been insane?
- 19:01Speaker 3: Yeah, that was crazy. So many people asked me about it,
- 19:04Speaker 3: and like the best word to describe it is just
- 19:06Speaker 3: like so healing for me, especially just being Latina and
- 19:09Speaker 3: just being around so many amazing Latino dancers that spoke
- 19:13Speaker 3: Spanish and we're from all parts of Latin America and
- 19:16Speaker 3: just coming together to stand for something that I feel
- 19:19Speaker 3: like we all were just so grateful to be given
- 19:22Speaker 3: that platform to do that. Shout out to bad Bunny
- 19:25Speaker 3: for that. But yeah, I was crazy, and that whole
- 19:29Speaker 3: process going into next pro I feel like for me
- 19:32Speaker 3: was like meant to happen. I feel like I went
- 19:35Speaker 3: into the show a different person after doing that by
- 19:37Speaker 3: Super Bowl, and yeah, I think it was just divine
- 19:39Speaker 3: timing and I was just so grateful that I was
- 19:41Speaker 3: able to just be a part of history and you know,
- 19:44Speaker 3: be Latina and just represent you know, my community. It
- 19:48Speaker 3: really meant the world to me.
- 19:50Speaker 2: It did feel like history making stuff.
- 19:52Speaker 1: Well at least when I watched it, it was like
- 19:54Speaker 1: really impactful to me and obviously very timely with what
- 19:58Speaker 1: was happening in the country and every thing. When you
- 20:01Speaker 1: were rehearsing that, did you think it was gonna kind
- 20:04Speaker 1: of be that thing or were you surprised when it
- 20:08Speaker 1: became such a big topic after the Super Bowl.
- 20:14Speaker 3: I was we were all the dances were hoping that
- 20:16Speaker 3: I would like bring change and just you know, like
- 20:19Speaker 3: give the world a big hug in the time that
- 20:22Speaker 3: we were in Like that's that was like what we
- 20:23Speaker 3: were trying to accomplish, and we didn't know the outcome
- 20:26Speaker 3: because like obviously there wasn't many people happening with the
- 20:28Speaker 3: Super Bowl either, and we just went in there being like,
- 20:31Speaker 3: we're just gonna we're just gonna spread love and we're
- 20:34Speaker 3: just gonna represent and see what happens and just we're
- 20:36Speaker 3: really just that was the mentality. So I had no
- 20:39Speaker 3: idea that it was going to like blow up in
- 20:40Speaker 3: the way that it blew up. And I'm just so
- 20:42Speaker 3: grateful that that happened. And I was even a part
- 20:45Speaker 3: of it, and how I ended up in Casita like
- 20:47Speaker 3: that whole thing too. It was just so divine for me.
- 20:50Speaker 3: And I was like, this is so crazy, but that's
- 20:52Speaker 3: like just more confirmation for you to trust the universe.
- 20:55Speaker 3: And yeah, it was. It was. It was beautiful.
- 20:58Speaker 1: I mean, you've done so much in your career, but
- 21:01Speaker 1: I guess my question is, what's the one thing that
- 21:04Speaker 1: you want to have happen. I saw this interview with
- 21:07Speaker 1: Tom Hall on the other day where he was like, yeah,
- 21:09Speaker 1: if I just say in an interview, it ends up happening.
- 21:11Speaker 1: Like he said he wanted to date Zindeia and then
- 21:13Speaker 1: that happened. Then he said he wanted to be in
- 21:14Speaker 1: Spider Man for you, like, what what do you want?
- 21:18Speaker 1: What's the next thing for you? Bye in the sky.
- 21:21Speaker 1: You could you could have any job, any gig. What
- 21:24Speaker 1: would you want?
- 21:25Speaker 3: I mean obviously dancing stars, but I think above that,
- 21:29Speaker 3: it's for sure to you know, be an actress and
- 21:33Speaker 3: just star in a future film where I can dancing
- 21:35Speaker 3: and act like those three are like I grew up
- 21:38Speaker 3: doing that, Like I just would love to just be
- 21:40Speaker 3: able to do that, And I think it's been always
- 21:43Speaker 3: like my biggest, biggest dream. Yeah, so like a musical
- 21:47Speaker 3: like greensor just being you know, be a pink lady
- 21:51Speaker 3: and sing, dance and act and just you know, that
- 21:53Speaker 3: is so amazing for me.
- 21:55Speaker 2: Have you done much theater work?
- 21:57Speaker 3: I have? Yeah, I've done a like so that the
- 22:00Speaker 3: Broadaby people are going to crack me because I was
- 22:02Speaker 3: like posting on TikTok and they were like, this is
- 22:04Speaker 3: what it is. But basically the show it's paper Mill Playhouse.
- 22:07Speaker 3: It's like an off Broadway, so if it gets picked up,
- 22:10Speaker 3: then it goes to Broadway. So I was a part
- 22:12Speaker 3: of the creation of a show called Take the Lead,
- 22:14Speaker 3: and I was like undersetting one of the leads and ensemble,
- 22:18Speaker 3: and that was like so amazing for me. And I
- 22:20Speaker 3: was lived in New York.
- 22:20Speaker 2: For a while.
- 22:21Speaker 3: And yeah, I've I dabbled my foot into theater, but
- 22:25Speaker 3: I haven't fully like gone that way because obviously my
- 22:28Speaker 3: dance career. But yeah, I love TV film, that's like
- 22:31Speaker 3: my my love anything on TV and film.
- 22:35Speaker 2: I'll tell you this.
- 22:36Speaker 1: My wife's an actress and she does wow film, but
- 22:39Speaker 1: she's in Broadway and she's about to go to the
- 22:42Speaker 1: West End. And I will say this about theater compared
- 22:48Speaker 1: to television. You made a TV show, right, you made
- 22:50Speaker 1: Dancing with the Start as the next pro I imagine you
- 22:52Speaker 1: did that six months ago or whatever.
- 22:54Speaker 2: It probably was a while, like Cook say, I had
- 22:55Speaker 2: edited it up.
- 22:56Speaker 1: And then when you when it comes out, then like
- 22:58Speaker 1: you're onto the next thing, and it doesn't feel as
- 23:01Speaker 1: fulfilling as live performance does. Yeah, and theater, like you know,
- 23:08Speaker 1: Sarah will go and make a movie and then it
- 23:09Speaker 1: won't come out for a year and she'd be like,
- 23:11Speaker 1: I'm on to the next thing. I don't even thinking
- 23:12Speaker 1: about that. But you know, after every Broadway show, you know,
- 23:15Speaker 1: feeling the energy in the room, going out and signing
- 23:18Speaker 1: playbills and everything.
- 23:20Speaker 2: It is really really impactful. But yeah, you can. Obviously
- 23:23Speaker 2: you could do anything you want.
- 23:25Speaker 1: So I like, I like saying that you're gonna You're
- 23:27Speaker 1: gonna be the next Grease, which, by the way, they
- 23:29Speaker 1: need to like revamp that.
- 23:31Speaker 3: Yeah, all the chicktok comments were saying after my week
- 23:34Speaker 3: when Samba that I would make a good shot shot
- 23:37Speaker 3: from Grease. I don't know if you know that character.
- 23:39Speaker 3: I was like, okay, I'll take it, but yeah, I
- 23:43Speaker 3: definitely TV film anything.
- 23:53Speaker 1: What's gonna happen Dancing with the Stars the next pro
- 23:55Speaker 1: Obviously you can't do you know what happens?
- 23:59Speaker 2: Do you know who? Yes, I won't ask you who
- 24:04Speaker 2: you think wins.
- 24:05Speaker 1: I'm going to tell you what I think happens, okay,
- 24:08Speaker 1: and I'm just gonna see I'm gonna see your reaction
- 24:12Speaker 1: and see if I'm right or not. Okay, So we're
- 24:18Speaker 1: inching down to it. Seems like the only one person
- 24:21Speaker 1: is going to be chosen.
- 24:23Speaker 3: Okay.
- 24:24Speaker 1: I'm not sure if I believe that. What I think
- 24:27Speaker 1: is gonna happen is that someone will be the winner.
- 24:30Speaker 1: Right now, I think it might be at Deeley. I mean,
- 24:33Speaker 1: she keeps on getting nicknames like Rolls Royce and Diamond
- 24:36Speaker 1: and all this kind of stuff. So it's just but
- 24:37Speaker 1: also I can see that being a misdirect for me.
- 24:41Speaker 1: And then and then I think it's gonna come down
- 24:42Speaker 1: to a guy and a girl. And then I think
- 24:45Speaker 1: that that Adele is going to win, and then I
- 24:47Speaker 1: think the and then so then the guy effectively wouldn't win,
- 24:50Speaker 1: but then they're gonna be like, no, you guys both win.
- 24:52Speaker 1: You guys both get to go. And then I think
- 24:54Speaker 1: it's gonna be either Alan or a J. But I'm
- 24:58Speaker 1: leaning towards Alan stones am I crazy?
- 25:03Speaker 3: I don't know, I don't know, gonna be very words.
- 25:11Speaker 1: Well, that's that's my that my theory. When you watch
- 25:16Speaker 1: it back, what was something that surprised you that you
- 25:18Speaker 1: didn't realize what's going on? Or you know, was was
- 25:22Speaker 1: either cut or added in that that surprised you when
- 25:24Speaker 1: you watch the show.
- 25:27Speaker 3: I think we filmed so much in the house, so
- 25:30Speaker 3: I was like kind of surprised to cut so much
- 25:32Speaker 3: of that. Like, so hopefully if they do another season,
- 25:35Speaker 3: they'll be able to have more of that reality life
- 25:38Speaker 3: in there, because that was really fun, Like you really
- 25:40Speaker 3: got to see all of our personalities. You got to
- 25:41Speaker 3: see who our roommates were because we had roommates, were
- 25:44Speaker 3: lived in bunk beds, Like there was a whole dynamic
- 25:46Speaker 3: there and just like us being by the pool and
- 25:50Speaker 3: talking like a lot of like it felt like kind
- 25:52Speaker 3: of Love Island a little bit sometimes because they'd be
- 25:55Speaker 3: like in case to have copultures for a chat and
- 25:58Speaker 3: talk about rehearsals like we did a lot of those.
- 26:01Speaker 3: I was excited to see those because those are so
- 26:03Speaker 3: fun to shoot. But yeah, I think that was something
- 26:07Speaker 3: that surprised me was that was kind of missing a
- 26:09Speaker 3: little bit.
- 26:11Speaker 1: Was there ever a time that someone thought there would
- 26:12Speaker 1: be a show mance that happens on the show?
- 26:16Speaker 3: I was convinced, and there were there were people that
- 26:19Speaker 3: like left and ended up like dating, So I was like, period,
- 26:23Speaker 3: I'm like, where was this? And that was? Where was
- 26:25Speaker 3: I didn't notice? But yeah, I know for sure like
- 26:29Speaker 3: Eric and Briar are together, so that's like public knowledge.
- 26:34Speaker 3: So I'll say that one.
- 26:36Speaker 1: Oh, well, the producer, screw you for not having that
- 26:40Speaker 1: shit in there, because that would have been great. Who's
- 26:44Speaker 1: someone on the show that you didn't get to dance
- 26:46Speaker 1: with that you wish you could have Alan.
- 26:49Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, I got a dance with Aj for the
- 26:53Speaker 3: group stuff, and then obviously danced with Tristan and uh yeah,
- 27:00Speaker 3: and then Aj, Yeah, I gotta dance in the group stuff.
- 27:02Speaker 3: And then oh Benji too?
- 27:04Speaker 1: Why justice for Benji? Did he just get like a
- 27:08Speaker 1: bad partner or what happened there?
- 27:10Speaker 3: No, I just think that whole situation was just like
- 27:12Speaker 3: really sad because like they're both my friends and I
- 27:16Speaker 3: know them, and I know Benji's potential too because he
- 27:19Speaker 3: did so I think he dance with me season sixteen,
- 27:21Speaker 3: and I go to do assalsa with him on tour
- 27:24Speaker 3: and that was so fun, Like he was my favorite
- 27:27Speaker 3: partner to dance with, and I think being a good
- 27:29Speaker 3: partner is like really important, and I thought like he
- 27:31Speaker 3: was a great partner when I danced with him. So yeah,
- 27:33Speaker 3: I just it made me sad because I was like, oh, Benj,
- 27:36Speaker 3: I just know him from like for a very long
- 27:38Speaker 3: time and he's a really close friend. So yeah, but
- 27:41Speaker 3: I would have loved to dance with him or Alan
- 27:44Speaker 3: or basically any of the other boys too, because.
- 27:46Speaker 1: Yeah, Stephanie, this has been so much fun to hang
- 27:49Speaker 1: and talk with you. Last question of the people who
- 27:54Speaker 1: have gone home. Who are you most surprised went home before?
- 27:59Speaker 3: Like the finale, Eric, Yeah, I think he Growing up,
- 28:05Speaker 3: I would compete against him and he would always went
- 28:07Speaker 3: like he was like top dog, like really good dancer,
- 28:10Speaker 3: very good ballroom, knows his technique down, like knows standard
- 28:14Speaker 3: as well, like very ballroom. And I feel like he
- 28:17Speaker 3: was like learning and growing along the show. And I
- 28:19Speaker 3: was I was really shocked that he went home to
- 28:21Speaker 3: be honest as soon as he did. So, yeah, it was.
- 28:25Speaker 2: It was interesting. I had Brit Stewart on last week
- 28:28Speaker 2: and we were talking about who I thought was like
- 28:31Speaker 2: really really like a standout and I and I said Eric,
- 28:35Speaker 2: and and she agreed with me.
- 28:38Speaker 1: Yeah, And then him going home was like, oh, either
- 28:41Speaker 1: she was messing with me or like or we missed something.
- 28:46Speaker 1: And I think that that I think was the latter,
- 28:48Speaker 1: not the former in that situation. Before you go, where
- 28:52Speaker 1: can people find you? Follow you, find out more about you,
- 28:56Speaker 1: all that stuff and if there's anything you want to promote,
- 28:58Speaker 1: go for it right now.
- 29:00Speaker 3: Thank you, so thank you for having me on. I
- 29:02Speaker 3: love talking about this stuff and you can find me
- 29:06Speaker 3: on Instagram and TikTok at Stevichka and yeah, just follow
- 29:10Speaker 3: my TikTok. I post a lot of my life on
- 29:12Speaker 3: the air, and yeah, sometimes it's awkward me man, I'm
- 29:16Speaker 3: like answer, but yeah, that's good.
- 29:20Speaker 1: All right, everyone go follow Stephanie over there and you'll
- 29:22Speaker 1: be seeing her in the live remake of Greece coming
- 29:26Speaker 1: out in twenty twenty nine. Stephanie Sosa, thank you so much,
- 29:31Speaker 1: congratulations on all success and good luck going forward. If
- 29:35Speaker 1: you guys aren't following us on social media, please do
- 29:38Speaker 1: ap by order of the faithful dm us questions, concerns,
- 29:42Speaker 1: or anyone else you'd like to have on the show.
- 29:46Speaker 2: Stephanie, thank you again so much.
- 29:48Speaker 1: And was I right? Is it Dell and Allen? Are
- 29:50Speaker 1: they both the winners at the end?
- 29:52Speaker 3: Let me let it down out. I can't sell you.
- 29:56Speaker 2: All right, Well, let's you get out of here. Thank
- 29:57Speaker 2: you so much for coming on.
- 29:58Speaker 3: Thank you guys.
- 29:59Speaker 2: Bye.
- 30:05Speaker 3: Yeah,
