- 0:17[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, like they do.
- 0:18[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it doesn't matter what year.
- 0:20[SPEAKER_00]: It's just episode.
- 0:21[SPEAKER_00]: So we're on episode 22 the theme for this episode is wrong casting
- 0:25[SPEAKER_02]: missed casting or miss casting.
- 0:28[SPEAKER_00]: I've also got some missed hired directors.
- 0:30[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, you do.
- 0:31[SPEAKER_00]: As well.
- 0:31[SPEAKER_02]: A couple too.
- 0:32[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, cool.
- 0:34[SPEAKER_00]: What we did what we decided is we were going to take a break for the holidays and hopefully you had a prosperous and healthy new year in a Merry Christmas and a happy Hanukkah and Guanzai and all that.
- 0:44[SPEAKER_02]: And you got what you wanted?
- 0:45[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I did.
- 0:45[SPEAKER_02]: I didn't get what I wanted but hopefully at the midterms.
- 0:48[SPEAKER_00]: Hanukkah Harry was good to me.
- 0:50[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah,
- 0:52[SPEAKER_00]: Do you play with the Dratele?
- 0:53[SPEAKER_00]: No, I'm not Jewish.
- 0:55[SPEAKER_00]: I was just making joke.
- 0:56[SPEAKER_00]: But they do call him Hanukkah Heri.
- 0:58[SPEAKER_00]: I do know that from, yeah, Hanukkah Heri is the, I have to ask our friend David Fisher.
- 1:04[SPEAKER_00]: But the Jewish version, well, at least this is what I was told.
- 1:06[SPEAKER_00]: And these were by kids who were my age.
- 1:08[SPEAKER_00]: So in their 20s and that kind of stuff, they were like, yeah, we have Hanukkah Heri.
- 1:12[SPEAKER_00]: So, and they have a Hanukkah bush, and all that kind of stuff.
- 1:16[SPEAKER_00]: And it's pronounced, it's pr.
- 1:18[SPEAKER_00]: It's pronounced Hanaka, not Chanaka.
- 1:21[SPEAKER_02]: Right, so you know.
- 1:22[SPEAKER_02]: I learned that from my good friend David Fishel.
- 1:24[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, well there you go.
- 1:25[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, David is, uh, uh.
- 1:29[SPEAKER_00]: He is in the juggler or something like that?
- 1:31[SPEAKER_00]: Rob jumper.
- 1:32[SPEAKER_02]: That's a rope warrior.
- 1:33[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 1:34[SPEAKER_02]: And funny story about David.
- 1:36[SPEAKER_02]: We had a party at our house around Christmas one year.
- 1:39[SPEAKER_02]: We invited David.
- 1:40[SPEAKER_02]: David was single at the time.
- 1:41[SPEAKER_02]: Didn't have much to do.
- 1:42[SPEAKER_00]: Did he have a lot of ropes here to jump through to get there?
- 1:45[SPEAKER_00]: It was a lot of hoops.
- 1:46[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
- 1:47[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, right.
- 1:47[SPEAKER_00]: Well, that's not his thing.
- 1:50[SPEAKER_00]: So how did that work out?
- 1:51[SPEAKER_02]: It did.
- 1:52[SPEAKER_02]: He looked good.
- 1:52[SPEAKER_02]: None of them were on fire, which is good.
- 1:54[SPEAKER_02]: Anyway, my wife made a real nice dinner and no rings a fire for him to jump No rings a fire.
- 1:59[SPEAKER_00]: No Johnny Cash.
- 2:00[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, we could get him like a flaming rope and see if he could jump That would be cool.
- 2:04[SPEAKER_00]: There you go.
- 2:05[SPEAKER_02]: That would be really cool that keep the gaze happy too Anyway, all right, anyway, we had a nice dinner and then we decided that that's just a joke We would sit down because my brother was there and he plays guitar and we we've sung in bands for years and we said Let's do let's sing some Christmas songs
- 2:21[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, there are eight of us, nine with David.
- 2:25[SPEAKER_02]: I'm already sensing the awkwardness of this.
- 2:28[SPEAKER_02]: No awkwardness, just surprise.
- 2:30[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, wow, okay.
- 2:31[SPEAKER_02]: The only guy in the room who knew how the lyrics to other Christmas songs was David.
- 2:35[SPEAKER_02]: Wow.
- 2:36[SPEAKER_02]: the only person who knew all the lyrics.
- 2:39[SPEAKER_00]: Well, I guess when you separate celebrate for eight crazy nights, then you have to learn all this.
- 2:43[SPEAKER_02]: You've to learn something, yeah.
- 2:44[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, he knew which album is this, a way in a manger.
- 2:47[SPEAKER_02]: Wow.
- 2:48[SPEAKER_02]: He knew the lyrics to all that stuff.
- 2:49[SPEAKER_02]: And the Catholics, well, the rest of us were all Catholic.
- 2:53[SPEAKER_02]: Wow.
- 2:54[SPEAKER_02]: And we're all sitting there going, okay, I know it's what child is this.
- 2:57[SPEAKER_02]: You have to say like that, it's Catholic.
- 2:59[SPEAKER_02]: Catholic.
- 3:00[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 3:00[SPEAKER_02]: Right.
- 3:01[SPEAKER_02]: Not Catholic.
- 3:02[SPEAKER_02]: No.
- 3:02[SPEAKER_02]: Catholic.
- 3:03[SPEAKER_02]: It's Catholic.
- 3:04[SPEAKER_02]: Anyway, funny story about David.
- 3:06[SPEAKER_02]: Hi David, hope you listening.
- 3:09[SPEAKER_00]: Funny story because he knew all the lyrics.
- 3:11[SPEAKER_02]: Yes.
- 3:12[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, so we're going to first.
- 3:14[SPEAKER_00]: So, what we do on the show here in case you're new is we talk about movies that are coming out for the weekend or the weekend, whatever you want to call it.
- 3:22[SPEAKER_00]: We usually talk about the movie that we're going to review.
- 3:24[SPEAKER_00]: That's coming out this weekend.
- 3:26[SPEAKER_00]: And then we have a little bit of
- 3:29[SPEAKER_00]: Deeper dive, shall we say, where we either talk about the genre of the music?
- 3:34[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, Phil, there we go.
- 3:35[SPEAKER_00]: We wax Philosophagus.
- 3:36[SPEAKER_00]: We wax Philosophagus.
- 3:37[SPEAKER_00]: There you go.
- 3:38[SPEAKER_02]: Or Philopillar.
- 3:39[SPEAKER_00]: Either one.
- 3:40[SPEAKER_00]: Wow.
- 3:41[SPEAKER_00]: I never mind.
- 3:43[SPEAKER_02]: All right.
- 3:44[SPEAKER_02]: I'm going to leave now.
- 3:45[SPEAKER_00]: No.
- 3:46[SPEAKER_00]: I wouldn't either.
- 3:47[SPEAKER_02]: If you're old enough, remember Philosillar.
- 3:48[SPEAKER_02]: You know why we don't want to wax it.
- 3:50[SPEAKER_00]: Not even Brazilian.
- 3:51[SPEAKER_00]: Anyway.
- 3:51[SPEAKER_00]: All right.
- 3:52[SPEAKER_00]: So anyway.
- 3:52[SPEAKER_02]: A lot of people.
- 3:54[SPEAKER_02]: A Brazilian people?
- 3:55[SPEAKER_02]: That's like more than a Zillion.
- 3:57[SPEAKER_00]: No.
- 3:58[SPEAKER_00]: never mind.
- 3:58[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not going to explain to you anyway.
- 4:01[SPEAKER_00]: So coming out this week, of course, because the episode, which is basically going to be Friday the 9th of January, Greenland to migration, which to me looks like a way to get Gerard Butler back on the screen as far as I'm concerned.
- 4:16[SPEAKER_00]: I've seen the previous a couple of times it came up last night.
- 4:19[SPEAKER_00]: We once I want to go see a movie last night as a matter of fact.
- 4:22[SPEAKER_00]: Greenland 2 came up and the first thing
- 4:27[SPEAKER_00]: It's like, I don't even, we could say we're grillin' one was above them.
- 4:31[SPEAKER_00]: We don't want to get into politics, yeah.
- 4:32[SPEAKER_00]: OK. Also coming out this week is the heavily advertised primate with its very scary previews, so much so that it became a topic of conversation in the household.
- 4:45[SPEAKER_00]: And we saw a couple of movies over the break, and the major topic was, I hope we don't get the primate preview.
- 4:52[SPEAKER_02]: Every single time we were talking earlier,
- 4:57[SPEAKER_02]: That's, you know, there's a true story about a woman on the chimp, and for you raised it, raised the chimp, the best friends, and then when they, she called her friend, or because the chimp was going kind of crazy, by the time her friend got there, the chimp had started to say this, but basically bitten her face off, it's a spoiler alert in case that happens in the movie.
- 5:17[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know, but I don't know.
- 5:20[SPEAKER_02]: I don't, I don't know.
- 5:20[SPEAKER_00]: I have no inkling to see that.
- 5:24[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 5:24[SPEAKER_00]: Also coming out this week, remember, again, these are not limited releases.
- 5:28[SPEAKER_00]: These are like nationwide releases because we don't want to, we don't want to limit you on that.
- 5:34[SPEAKER_00]: See what I did there, limited release limited release.
- 5:37[SPEAKER_00]: So the chronology, chronology, is that what you saying that?
- 5:41[SPEAKER_00]: It's water.
- 5:42[SPEAKER_00]: It's a huge word.
- 5:43[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 5:43[SPEAKER_00]: It doesn't even like form in your mouth the right way.
- 5:45[SPEAKER_00]: But anyway, so yeah, that's out as well.
- 5:50[SPEAKER_00]: Floss it?
- 5:52[SPEAKER_00]: No, but I heard it's a rushing experience.
- 5:55[SPEAKER_00]: So I'm even saying it might be a waterfall of a, Sounds like a draining kind of movie.
- 6:00[SPEAKER_00]: It could be a cliffhanger, too.
- 6:01[SPEAKER_00]: You know, who knows?
- 6:03[SPEAKER_00]: It's about a young woman who finds her voice through the written word and her salvation as a swimmer.
- 6:10[SPEAKER_00]: Ultimately becoming a triumphant teacher mother and a singular, modern writer.
- 6:18[SPEAKER_02]: from water.
- 6:19[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, exactly.
- 6:22[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 6:22[SPEAKER_00]: So that's a good more water.
- 6:24[SPEAKER_00]: Exactly.
- 6:24[SPEAKER_00]: It's supposed to be quite eight classes a day.
- 6:26[SPEAKER_00]: You're supposed to when I don't.
- 6:27[SPEAKER_00]: Well, then you need to fix that.
- 6:29[SPEAKER_00]: I'll try.
- 6:29[SPEAKER_00]: Also coming out is dead man's wire.
- 6:31[SPEAKER_00]: And then I was a stranger.
- 6:35[SPEAKER_00]: Um, and I don't know what it is about movies coming out this weekend, but there's really nothing that, uh,
- 6:40[SPEAKER_00]: Look, interesting to me.
- 6:41[SPEAKER_00]: Although I do have a suggestion for us.
- 6:43[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, Netflix has a movie company.
- 6:46[SPEAKER_02]: I gotta go back to my son's house.
- 6:47[SPEAKER_00]: Well, sorry, you know, you go there a lot anyway.
- 6:50[SPEAKER_00]: So I do.
- 6:51[SPEAKER_00]: People we meet on vacation.
- 6:53[SPEAKER_02]: Yes.
- 6:53[SPEAKER_00]: Is the name of the movie?
- 6:54[SPEAKER_00]: Molly.
- 6:55[SPEAKER_00]: Molly Shannon is in it.
- 6:56[SPEAKER_02]: Yes.
- 6:57[SPEAKER_00]: Superstar.
- 6:58[SPEAKER_00]: Jim.
- 6:59[SPEAKER_00]: Yep, Jamila.
- 7:01[SPEAKER_00]: Jemi, I think it's how you say her name.
- 7:03[SPEAKER_00]: Tom Blifes in it as well as Lucien.
- 7:07[SPEAKER_00]: lavish court.
- 7:09[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 7:09[SPEAKER_00]: It sounds pretty interesting.
- 7:10[SPEAKER_00]: It's a story about some long-time friends, Alex and Poppy, who for the last decade basically go on a vacation, a summer vacation every week.
- 7:19[SPEAKER_00]: And that isn't till they stop speaking.
- 7:22[SPEAKER_00]: Poppy reaches out and convinces Alex as they lose their voices.
- 7:26[SPEAKER_02]: They just don't talk to you.
- 7:27[SPEAKER_00]: Something happened and they parted ways and stopped being friends and so didn't unmute.
- 7:31[SPEAKER_02]: And then going to be no sub-titles.
- 7:33[SPEAKER_00]: No, and then this is what happens when they decide to go back together and fix their broken relationship whatever.
- 7:38[SPEAKER_00]: It sounds like it could be funny, it sounds like it could be funny, it sounds like it could be interesting Shannon.
- 7:44[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 7:44[SPEAKER_00]: She doesn't stick her fingers up her armpits.
- 7:45[SPEAKER_00]: It's right, exactly.
- 7:47[SPEAKER_00]: So there we go.
- 7:47[SPEAKER_00]: So that was your review for you next week.
- 7:49[SPEAKER_00]: It'll be people we meet on vacation and then I have a bonus review for you a movie we talked about the last time we got together house made was one of the ones on my list of movies that I wanted to see.
- 8:00[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 8:00[SPEAKER_00]: We will not let you do any of your jokes that you did while we texted because those the inappropriate.
- 8:05[SPEAKER_00]: However when I did tell on my side, he was a little but hurt because I went to go see a movie without him.
- 8:10[SPEAKER_00]: But only because you said it was a date night.
- 8:12[SPEAKER_00]: Well, yeah.
- 8:14[SPEAKER_00]: I'm just saying because we don't we don't interact like that just saying and your wife would not want to see this movie There's too much blood in it.
- 8:22[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, she she what what is her favorite thing that she says when she can't Oh my god Jesus Christ.
- 8:28[SPEAKER_00]: No Jesus Christ.
- 8:29[SPEAKER_00]: Oh my god, and then Donna was oh my god.
- 8:30[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so there you go
- 8:32[SPEAKER_00]: And I have a feeling that that would have happened.
- 8:33[SPEAKER_02]: We were going to review that.
- 8:35[SPEAKER_00]: That's going to be a rating.
- 8:36[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, exactly.
- 8:38[SPEAKER_00]: And this would definitely have gotten both of those ratings for that movie.
- 8:41[SPEAKER_00]: It is the first of a trilogy of books, as a matter of fact.
- 8:46[SPEAKER_00]: And I found that out last night.
- 8:47[SPEAKER_00]: The house made is the first book.
- 8:50[SPEAKER_00]: What's the second book?
- 8:51[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
- 8:52[SPEAKER_00]: And I didn't Raj made no but if I have any idea it's it's gonna be the same girl Doing the same thing for another wealthy family.
- 9:01[SPEAKER_00]: So that's the the premise of this movie is this is a girl who's done her look I'm not gonna give too much away and a a wife of a wealthy family Decides to hire this girl as a house maid to take care of things now in the previews They showed the wife who was played by Amanda Cypher
- 9:21[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, because as a man of sight freed and Sidney Seymour, right?
- 9:25[SPEAKER_00]: I think it's her name.
- 9:26[SPEAKER_02]: I think it is.
- 9:27[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I can't remember now.
- 9:28[SPEAKER_02]: I think it is.
- 9:28[SPEAKER_02]: I could be wrong.
- 9:30[SPEAKER_00]: Uh, yeah.
- 9:30[SPEAKER_00]: Anyway, so they're both in the movie, and I think we said that we thought a man of doesn't really have any acting talent, but Sidney Swenie, that's a Swenie.
- 9:38[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, Sidney Swenie does, but then I remember the other reason why a lot of people know Sidney Swenie.
- 9:45[SPEAKER_00]: She did not afraid to bear herself on film.
- 9:49[SPEAKER_00]: and she does it in this movie as well too, but then it's a twist, it's a total twist movie, it's not what you expected.
- 9:56[SPEAKER_00]: What's going on is not because of what you think.
- 9:59[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 10:00[SPEAKER_00]: The wife is actually not psycho.
- 10:01[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 10:02[SPEAKER_00]: There's another reason she's psycho.
- 10:04[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm not going to give it away because it's a huge spoiler for the movie.
- 10:07[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 10:07[SPEAKER_00]: But this is the exact reason this movie because I hadn't read the book and if you read the book then you already know.
- 10:12[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 10:12[SPEAKER_00]: I hadn't read the book and and because I hadn't read the book,
- 10:18[SPEAKER_00]: because you saw the previews and what I said when we went to go see it, I said if there's not a cat fight in this, I'm not going to be happy.
- 10:23[SPEAKER_00]: Was there a cat fight?
- 10:24[SPEAKER_00]: And there wasn't sort of, I mean, there was some yelling and, you know, some, like name calling and it'd be like belittlement, but there was no fist strong.
- 10:35[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 10:35[SPEAKER_00]: However, the wife,
- 10:37[SPEAKER_00]: you you understand why she is the way that she is okay when you understand the twist of the whole movie and I can't give it away no but this is the reason why you need to go see it because one of those movies where you think you know what's going on and you think you got it packed and then it takes another twist and then you go okay so it's this and then you go oh no
- 10:55[SPEAKER_00]: It's actually this, which is actually fostered from something else.
- 11:00[SPEAKER_00]: So again, there's a lot of stuff I can't say because it would give the home over your way.
- 11:03[SPEAKER_00]: It is phenomenal.
- 11:05[SPEAKER_00]: It's not, you know, 10 out of 10 good.
- 11:08[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 11:08[SPEAKER_00]: It is a solid eight and a half a solid nine somewhere in there.
- 11:12[SPEAKER_00]: That's right.
- 11:13[SPEAKER_00]: Just because the acting is okay, you know, all that kind of stuff is great.
- 11:16[SPEAKER_00]: It's just, it's the story and how well it's written.
- 11:19[SPEAKER_00]: and how you just don't see things happening and then like there's a whole other thing that you didn't see happening as well okay um and it just so for me that's what the entertainment value of this movie alone is why i give it a half i shouldn't give it a night and eight and a half solid eight and a half a definitely see it i don't know if you need to i don't know if it's going to be in the theaters the after this weekend unfortunately we have to look movies only seem to last for two weeks nowadays
- 11:43[SPEAKER_00]: Which is sad, but that means it'll be you can stream it so right, but then it'll be available for streaming Fairly shortly here, but if you if you get a chance to go see it go see it.
- 11:50[SPEAKER_00]: It's actually phenomenal Absolutely phenomenal.
- 11:53[SPEAKER_02]: I saw I saw the preview.
- 11:54[SPEAKER_02]: I think we saw the preview.
- 11:55[SPEAKER_02]: We did see the preview I asked if you wanted to see it and you were like yeah Because I thought it was similar to and people might remember this movie Rebecca the more nay The hand that rocks to cradle.
- 12:05[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it's new
- 12:06[SPEAKER_02]: It seemed like it was like almost exactly the same thing redone there's a theme telling me that it's not Well, but there's a theme from that movie that is in this movie so this connected in a way So I was right it only be safe.
- 12:17[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, no, say I was right no say you are not right say yet it there
- 12:23[SPEAKER_00]: You are partially correct.
- 12:26[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, I'll take that.
- 12:27[SPEAKER_00]: Because part of the theme from the movie is in this, but it's so much bigger than that.
- 12:34[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, so, and it's a little on the gore side, so if you're not a blood person, it's not like spitting in your face, but I mean, it's bloody.
- 12:44[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 12:45[SPEAKER_00]: You know, it's not like nobody, too.
- 12:47[SPEAKER_00]: Nobody's getting no no it's not like it's not violent.
- 12:51[SPEAKER_00]: However it is there are some I guess you would call it massacism type stuff.
- 12:56[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, because isn't that when you hurt yourself, right?
- 12:59[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so there's a little bit of that in there.
- 13:01[SPEAKER_00]: So be careful of that It is rated R. So that's your first thing right there But it's definitely not something I'd like the kitty see if you're watching it at home But anyway, it's a great movie.
- 13:10[SPEAKER_00]: I think you should see it But let's move on to what the episode is actually about it.
- 13:14[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, which is wrong
- 13:14[SPEAKER_00]: castings and you seem to be like hot to trot here so I'm gonna let you go first and okay what's your first one?
- 13:21[SPEAKER_02]: Well first of all I want to say I know we've had some comments from people saying that we mentioned movies that they never heard of and they go watch them and they're surprised and they like them.
- 13:31[SPEAKER_02]: We've had some comments like that.
- 13:34[SPEAKER_00]: Do I know who that was?
- 13:35[SPEAKER_00]: No.
- 13:35[SPEAKER_00]: Oh wow.
- 13:36[SPEAKER_00]: Okay cool.
- 13:37[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think so.
- 13:39[SPEAKER_00]: Well, I
- 13:41[SPEAKER_00]: Our mom.
- 13:42[SPEAKER_00]: No, no, no, no, no, no.
- 13:43[SPEAKER_00]: We had to mention his name.
- 13:44[SPEAKER_02]: We had to, we had to just say, our mom, the least once down the show.
- 13:47[SPEAKER_00]: That's in our country because he needs to, and you need if you need your car repaired, you need to go to.
- 13:51[SPEAKER_02]: You need to go to be bear auto repair in Downers Grove, on Agdana, the new.
- 13:57[SPEAKER_02]: Are you sure starting to scroll?
- 13:58[SPEAKER_02]: It's downers Grove.
- 13:59[SPEAKER_00]: Really?
- 13:59[SPEAKER_00]: I thought it was Westmont.
- 14:01[SPEAKER_02]: No, downers Grove.
- 14:02[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, okay.
- 14:02[SPEAKER_02]: Most people think it's Westmont, but it's not.
- 14:04[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, wow.
- 14:05[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 14:05[SPEAKER_02]: Downers Grove, whether you got an Agdana.
- 14:06[SPEAKER_02]: Anyway, you mentioned a couple movies that I hadn't seen, and the first one was Spirited, which is a re-take on the Christmas Carol, Charles Dickens, and that was what didn't expect it to be good and I enjoyed it.
- 14:25[SPEAKER_02]: The other one, though, that really got me that you mentioned, that was on your list last show we did, Mysteries was usual suspects.
- 14:33[SPEAKER_02]: And I've always seen little bits and pieces, but it was on Tobi, which is free.
- 14:38[SPEAKER_02]: And so I decided, I'm gonna watch it.
- 14:41[SPEAKER_02]: And you were right, the ending.
- 14:43[SPEAKER_02]: No, yep.
- 14:44[SPEAKER_02]: The ending just came out of nowhere.
- 14:48[SPEAKER_02]: It was very good.
- 14:49[SPEAKER_02]: Very well done, everybody, and it was really good.
- 14:55[SPEAKER_02]: The one caveat on usual suspects is that at the end of the movie, the director throws you a curveball in my opinion, which I don't think he should have done because then that
- 15:11[SPEAKER_02]: you make an assumption based on what you just saw, and I don't want to give it away, and then it isn't what is gonna happen later on.
- 15:20[SPEAKER_02]: So I think that was kind of like, let's really, let's make sure nobody gets this.
- 15:27[SPEAKER_02]: kind of a thing.
- 15:28[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, but I think I think that movie's old enough that enough people have seen it that, you know, I don't think you're coming.
- 15:35[SPEAKER_00]: Well, okay, you're right, you're right.
- 15:36[SPEAKER_00]: We won't do that, but yeah, I mean, that's why I love the movie because you just, there's so many ways you think it's going to go and then it just has to go that way and house me it is on that second level.
- 15:46[SPEAKER_00]: It's not.
- 15:48[SPEAKER_00]: Don't get me wrong.
- 15:48[SPEAKER_00]: It's not usual suspects, like, but the writing and the story and the twist and the turn is, you just kind of go, wow, not expecting that.
- 15:57[SPEAKER_00]: So anyway, I do.
- 15:58[SPEAKER_02]: OK, so I'll go first, you son.
- 16:01[SPEAKER_02]: I have a few.
- 16:02[SPEAKER_02]: So I'm going to, and I have, I actually have one that's a TV show because I had to throw that in there.
- 16:09[SPEAKER_02]: I'm going to start from the bottom and work my way up to my number one, OK?
- 16:14[SPEAKER_02]: That all right?
- 16:15[SPEAKER_02]: Absolutely.
- 16:19[SPEAKER_02]: If you, if you see in the movies, there's three equalizers with Denzel Washington, they're good movies, you know, you got to like that kind of movie, the guy that's, you like that's which kind of guy, I do, the TV show with Queen the TV, I just,
- 16:39[SPEAKER_02]: How do you cast Queen Latifa at the same character, then so Washington?
- 16:44[SPEAKER_02]: Well, because they were trying to appeal to a female audience.
- 16:47[SPEAKER_02]: I understand that, but Queen Latifa.
- 16:50[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, all right.
- 16:52[SPEAKER_02]: She's great in comedies.
- 16:53[SPEAKER_02]: Don't we shop?
- 16:55[SPEAKER_02]: The one where she's in the house guest, I think it's called with,
- 16:58[SPEAKER_02]: which Steve Martin, she's in the taxi driver, where she detects you driver with the guy from Jimmy, I might be to be a fellow, I'm not sure.
- 17:07[SPEAKER_02]: Anyway, she's great in comedy, she really is.
- 17:10[SPEAKER_00]: Oh yeah.
- 17:11[SPEAKER_02]: I can't see her running around beating people off.
- 17:14[SPEAKER_00]: She's also really good in a film called Set It Off.
- 17:17[SPEAKER_02]: I didn't see said it though.
- 17:18[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that probably not would not be in your cup of tea because it's like a very strong female like, it's, I think it's like those strong female movies.
- 17:29[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, I didn't think you did, but it's also, but it features, with Jennifer, Jennifer Lopez, my bad work, my bad, my bad.
- 17:36[SPEAKER_02]: Even what's your name, it's a good flick.
- 17:39[SPEAKER_00]: They're four very strong black female characters in it.
- 17:42[SPEAKER_02]: It's a very, yeah, I love them.
- 17:44[SPEAKER_00]: My bad character doesn't think you know, absolutely.
- 17:47[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think the Queen Latifa, I get it.
- 17:50[SPEAKER_02]: The person you cast to play the equal.
- 17:51[SPEAKER_00]: No, second, but second, I'm good.
- 17:54[SPEAKER_00]: But if you saw set it off, you might understand why they tried that because she was actually pretty good at it.
- 17:58[SPEAKER_02]: But I wasn't up as so.
- 18:00[SPEAKER_00]: I know, I get it, I get it.
- 18:01[SPEAKER_02]: And when you see her running and feet, I'm like, okay, it's ain't working.
- 18:06[SPEAKER_02]: they may as well have had a martin short to the equalizing okay uh... movie now we're going to move is rosio dino as betty in the flint stones okay betty was one of the hottest cartoon females ever and to give that wrote a rosio dino was just dead wrong
- 18:25[SPEAKER_02]: My bad.
- 18:26[SPEAKER_02]: Pamela Anderson and Naked Gun didn't work.
- 18:28[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think she pulled it off.
- 18:30[SPEAKER_00]: Well, that's because those two are in a romantic relationship.
- 18:33[SPEAKER_00]: That's how that happened.
- 18:33[SPEAKER_02]: Who?
- 18:35[SPEAKER_02]: Her and, oh, what's his name?
- 18:37[SPEAKER_02]: I don't care about that.
- 18:38[SPEAKER_02]: I'm just saying, she, that's why she was in the movie though.
- 18:40[SPEAKER_00]: Because he suggested that they be in the movie.
- 18:42[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, they didn't work.
- 18:43[SPEAKER_02]: I think, no, the beauty of Leslie Nilsson and Priscilla Presley,
- 18:49[SPEAKER_02]: was great.
- 18:50[SPEAKER_02]: You know, Priscilla had, that's maybe one of her first acting roles, and she just played herself.
- 18:56[SPEAKER_02]: It was great.
- 18:56[SPEAKER_02]: Pamela, I think, was just trying too hard.
- 18:58[SPEAKER_02]: And then in the remake of the Magnificent Seven, and I love this guy.
- 19:06[SPEAKER_02]: But then Zell Washington was like,
- 19:10[SPEAKER_02]: for me.
- 19:11[SPEAKER_02]: Wow.
- 19:13[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, the whole movie was off for me.
- 19:14[SPEAKER_02]: Anyway, the whole remake.
- 19:16[SPEAKER_02]: Wow.
- 19:16[SPEAKER_02]: You're ruined.
- 19:17[SPEAKER_02]: You're the original.
- 19:18[SPEAKER_02]: You're by a thousand in my opinion.
- 19:21[SPEAKER_02]: Wow.
- 19:21[SPEAKER_02]: You're hitting you.
- 19:21[SPEAKER_02]: If you want to see the Magnificent 7, go get the Eau Brenner Steve McQueen version a thousand times better than the remake.
- 19:29[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 19:30[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 19:30[SPEAKER_02]: So you want to do yours and then I'll do my top two.
- 19:35[SPEAKER_00]: Uh, no, I think you should finish it off because I'm curious to see if we're even on the same level.
- 19:40[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, so far we're not.
- 19:41[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 19:42[SPEAKER_00]: So you just finish yours off.
- 19:43[SPEAKER_02]: So my number two.
- 19:45[SPEAKER_02]: I love the movie, but I don't think this person was the right person for the main role.
- 19:53[SPEAKER_02]: And that's Tom Hanks in the Da Vinci code.
- 19:57[SPEAKER_02]: I read the book first, I read the book first, and the books may me believe that the main character was going to be somebody a little more crusty, like a Morgan Freeman, maybe even was in a little timely Jones kind of guy, crusty and Morgan Freeman, I never thought I'd hear those two things.
- 20:18[SPEAKER_02]: Well, you know, Edgy and Tom Hanks is just too
- 20:23[SPEAKER_00]: straight and clean and he didn't fit that role but that character I think it's Dan Jones I think is the character's name in the book I don't remember it dance something yeah damn brown that's it it damn brown he is an archaeologist so he has to be like straight laced and like no okay no in in Jurassic Park I believe Sam here is more edgy I believe Sam here was actually asked to do that and I think he turned it down
- 20:50[SPEAKER_02]: we shouldn't.
- 20:53[SPEAKER_02]: I like the movie, so don't get me wrong.
- 20:55[SPEAKER_02]: Go see the movie.
- 20:55[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not really good.
- 20:56[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not just a good thing Tom Hanks.
- 20:58[SPEAKER_02]: Everybody else was cast perfectly, I thought.
- 21:01[SPEAKER_02]: But Tom Hanks to me, he just was, I thought I just pictured when I'm reading the book.
- 21:06[SPEAKER_02]: I keep picturing an older guy a little bit more experience.
- 21:11[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, Dan Brown wasn't an older guy in the book.
- 21:14[SPEAKER_00]: He was a younger guy.
- 21:15[SPEAKER_02]: I didn't read, they didn't reset his age in the book.
- 21:18[SPEAKER_00]: No, but they described him as a younger man.
- 21:20[SPEAKER_02]: They didn't describe him as like, wow, they didn't describe him as a young man.
- 21:24[SPEAKER_02]: They just described him as an archeologist who did these things and was called upon by the curator.
- 21:32[SPEAKER_02]: So that's that one.
- 21:33[SPEAKER_02]: And then my number one miscast of all time, and I'm gonna go way back.
- 21:42[SPEAKER_02]: So you're going to have to be around my age to get this.
- 21:46[SPEAKER_02]: But it is the most miscast actor ever in a major motion picture, OK?
- 21:56[SPEAKER_02]: And it's Edward G. Robinson in the Ten Commandments.
- 22:01[SPEAKER_02]: Now, if you don't know the movie, it's a great movie about the Ten Commandment Childs and Huston Place Moses, Perfectly Cast, the, the, actually the wife, Herman Munster's wife, and I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm blanking on her name.
- 22:12[SPEAKER_02]: She plays his wife and she's cast perfectly.
- 22:15[SPEAKER_02]: You'll Brenner, you couldn't have a better, you could not have a better feral than you'll Brenner, Edward G. Robinson,
- 22:25[SPEAKER_02]: is not should not be in that movie.
- 22:28[SPEAKER_02]: And if you're like me, you know, every of you Robinson played a lot of gangsters back in the day.
- 22:32[SPEAKER_02]: And he had a very distinctive voice.
- 22:34[SPEAKER_02]: And where is your mom?
- 22:35[SPEAKER_02]: She's now.
- 22:37[SPEAKER_02]: And the whole time he was in a scene, oh, I saw, who is a Chicago gangster?
- 22:44[SPEAKER_02]: Just up like a Hebrew.
- 22:47[SPEAKER_02]: And it just did not.
- 22:48[SPEAKER_00]: We're maybe, maybe Hebrews are the original Chicago gangster.
- 22:51[SPEAKER_00]: They could be, they could be, you know?
- 22:54[SPEAKER_00]: There you go.
- 22:54[SPEAKER_00]: So I was right.
- 22:56[SPEAKER_00]: We are way off on our list.
- 23:00[SPEAKER_00]: way off, but you're not going to like the first one because I'm going to go after one of your Western guys.
- 23:07[SPEAKER_00]: Who in the world decided that casting John Wayne as Genghis Khan was like, are you kidding me?
- 23:15[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 23:15[SPEAKER_00]: So that's the first one.
- 23:16[SPEAKER_00]: I don't need that, too.
- 23:17[SPEAKER_00]: I don't even need to go any further.
- 23:19[SPEAKER_02]: To be honest with you, when he played the New York detective, that didn't work either.
- 23:23[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, no, I know.
- 23:23[SPEAKER_00]: He's been miscast in a couple of things and my man perfect cast.
- 23:28[SPEAKER_00]: Oh no,
- 23:30[SPEAKER_02]: That was in Western, but.
- 23:32[SPEAKER_02]: Well, okay, that's perfectly in there.
- 23:33[SPEAKER_00]: What I mean though is most of the time he's cast as a Western like type role.
- 23:38[SPEAKER_02]: I'll agree with you there.
- 23:39[SPEAKER_00]: And most of the time except for what was the name of the movie you just meant?
- 23:42[SPEAKER_00]: Because I think I saw a quiet man.
- 23:44[SPEAKER_00]: A quiet man.
- 23:46[SPEAKER_00]: I think that was I think that's I don't know if I actually saw that one.
- 23:49[SPEAKER_00]: But it's good.
- 23:50[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 23:51[SPEAKER_00]: All right.
- 23:51[SPEAKER_00]: Then I'm going after one of your other favorite actors because you all seem to love him in this mission impossible stuff and I can't stand him as a secret agent at all, which is why I also can't stand him as Jack Reacher.
- 24:07[SPEAKER_00]: What is that all about?
- 24:10[SPEAKER_02]: All right.
- 24:10[SPEAKER_02]: I could halfway agree with you there.
- 24:12[SPEAKER_02]: I saw that.
- 24:12[SPEAKER_02]: I saw a retry.
- 24:13[SPEAKER_02]: I thought he did a good job.
- 24:14[SPEAKER_02]: But here's a problem.
- 24:15[SPEAKER_02]: That's because you like him in a mission impossible.
- 24:17[SPEAKER_02]: No, no, here's a problem with today's movies and it's been for decades.
- 24:21[SPEAKER_02]: They write movies to fit the actors and they don't have actors that fit the wrong.
- 24:26[SPEAKER_02]: Absolutely.
- 24:27[SPEAKER_02]: Like they used to.
- 24:28[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 24:28[SPEAKER_02]: You know, used to have actors who fit.
- 24:30[SPEAKER_02]: The role would be different every single time.
- 24:32[SPEAKER_02]: One of the greatest of that was from in the heat of the night.
- 24:38[SPEAKER_02]: What was the name?
- 24:40[SPEAKER_02]: Played opposite Sydney, Portie.
- 24:41[SPEAKER_02]: Rod Steiger.
- 24:44[SPEAKER_02]: Every role Rod Steiger, every did, was different.
- 24:48[SPEAKER_02]: They didn't write a movie for Rod Steiger.
- 24:51[SPEAKER_02]: They wrote a movie, they called them up, and they said, here's the character, and he became the character.
- 24:55[SPEAKER_02]: Nowadays, they write a movie, and they say, okay, how would Tom Hanks, how would Tom Cruise do this?
- 25:03[SPEAKER_02]: And they write it, four-time cruise, and so it's all just the same guy in every movie.
- 25:08[SPEAKER_02]: I agree with you there.
- 25:10[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, but I like them in the future.
- 25:12[SPEAKER_02]: I didn't mind them.
- 25:13[SPEAKER_02]: I like them better, mission and pause.
- 25:14[SPEAKER_00]: So here's a character, so here is a character
- 25:20[SPEAKER_00]: is iconic in this world, what I'm going to call it, and the character I'm referring to is Lex Luther.
- 25:31[SPEAKER_00]: Lex Luther is like the epitome of bad guys when it comes to Superman.
- 25:35[SPEAKER_00]: Who thought, casting Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luther was a good idea?
- 25:43[SPEAKER_02]: So bad, okay, anyway, I give you that.
- 25:46[SPEAKER_02]: But who is a good, who is a really good Lex Luthor, then?
- 25:49[SPEAKER_02]: So, well, you know, that's another show.
- 25:51[SPEAKER_02]: No, best cast.
- 25:52[SPEAKER_02]: No, let's not do that.
- 25:53[SPEAKER_00]: No, we could do better than that.
- 25:54[SPEAKER_00]: We could do better than that.
- 25:55[SPEAKER_00]: No, no, no.
- 25:55[SPEAKER_00]: But I think that's valid, because I think Lex Luthor's only been played by like three people in either small, on the small screen or the big screen.
- 26:04[SPEAKER_00]: And I can't think of the small screen guy's name, but he was in smallville.
- 26:08[SPEAKER_00]: That was cast amazingly.
- 26:10[SPEAKER_00]: That guy is spot on.
- 26:12[SPEAKER_00]: And Jean had a hackman, the original.
- 26:17[SPEAKER_00]: Well, I shouldn't say the original, but the one that most of them were not released movies.
- 26:21[SPEAKER_00]: He was in the Christmas movies.
- 26:22[SPEAKER_00]: He was absolutely cast.
- 26:23[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
- 26:24[SPEAKER_00]: And this latest guy, again, I don't know his name, but the guy that's in the new version of Superman, he's amazing too.
- 26:32[SPEAKER_00]: Jesse Eisenberg doesn't have the edge, okay.
- 26:35[SPEAKER_00]: He doesn't have the, he doesn't have the, he comes off as a psycho and Lex has never been a psycho, Lex has an hard cold calculate and Eisenberg was just too psychotic.
- 26:47[SPEAKER_00]: So can I, so can I, so we're here, can I throw in one while because I'm probably going to say what you were going to say, because this is my next one.
- 26:52[SPEAKER_02]: All right, let's see.
- 26:53[SPEAKER_02]: I'm going to talk about nipple Batman.
- 26:56[SPEAKER_00]: I'm talking about George Clooney.
- 26:58[SPEAKER_00]: No, it's Batman.
- 26:59[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, so then go ahead.
- 27:00[SPEAKER_00]: Cause that's my next one, but go ahead.
- 27:01[SPEAKER_02]: No, but I'll throw my worst Batman like a man.
- 27:04[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh,
- 27:11[SPEAKER_00]: we cannot talk about that.
- 27:12[SPEAKER_00]: No, you're wrong.
- 27:13[SPEAKER_00]: Sorry.
- 27:14[SPEAKER_00]: The whole time you're the whole movie you're wrong.
- 27:16[SPEAKER_00]: The whole movie, you know what I'm waiting for?
- 27:18[SPEAKER_00]: Wrong.
- 27:18[SPEAKER_00]: Wrong.
- 27:18[SPEAKER_00]: I don't want to hear Beetle juice at all.
- 27:20[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, you're wrong.
- 27:21[SPEAKER_00]: Absolutely.
- 27:21[SPEAKER_00]: No, there's no there's a scene.
- 27:25[SPEAKER_02]: There's a scene in the in in lowest lane, not lowest lanes in the love interest apartment.
- 27:34[SPEAKER_02]: where the joke, where Jack Nicholson was the Joker.
- 27:36[SPEAKER_02]: It's about basing or basing, I'm sorry.
- 27:38[SPEAKER_02]: And Jack Nicholson comes in and Batman's as Bruce Wayne, Bill, I mean, Michael Keaton.
- 27:46[SPEAKER_02]: And he picks up, he picks up a pick from a, you know, you, yeah, what do you call those firewoods?
- 27:53[SPEAKER_02]: Come on, let's take the poker.
- 27:54[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, poker.
- 27:55[SPEAKER_02]: He is Bill Juice.
- 27:57[SPEAKER_02]: I'm sorry.
- 27:58[SPEAKER_02]: Watch that and tell me that's not beat us.
- 28:00[SPEAKER_00]: But you cannot, you cannot pick one small little scene.
- 28:04[SPEAKER_02]: The whole movie I did.
- 28:05[SPEAKER_00]: No, it's not beat us.
- 28:06[SPEAKER_00]: It's beat us.
- 28:06[SPEAKER_02]: No, I'll be okay.
- 28:08[SPEAKER_02]: I'm sorry.
- 28:08[SPEAKER_02]: You're fine here.
- 28:09[SPEAKER_00]: Everyone's in touch with her all.
- 28:10[SPEAKER_02]: I didn't have my list because he's not at my top 10.
- 28:13[SPEAKER_00]: That's true.
- 28:13[SPEAKER_00]: Everyone has their own.
- 28:15[SPEAKER_02]: And I really stay with them because Nicholson played a great joke.
- 28:20[SPEAKER_02]: I thought, I mean, what's the name was way better?
- 28:22[SPEAKER_00]: I respectfully disagree with you about Keaton not being a great Batman, but that's beside the point.
- 28:26[SPEAKER_00]: OK. OK, so we're on a cartoon or comic book role here.
- 28:32[SPEAKER_00]: OK. Toil for Grace as the Venom in Spider-Man 3.
- 28:36[SPEAKER_00]: Ridiculous.
- 28:37[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 28:37[SPEAKER_00]: But anyway, OK, so I'm going to change gears a little bit because I'm going to pick on a couple other legendary actors so to speak.
- 28:43[SPEAKER_00]: And by legendary, I mean, they're known for other things.
- 28:46[SPEAKER_00]: Kevin Costner in Robin Hood.
- 28:48[SPEAKER_00]: Princess Lee was horrible what was that all about horrible and of course I'm doing a little Richard gear to well a night did also do many people in that movie itself should not have been in that movie But I'm not even a go there.
- 29:01[SPEAKER_02]: You know that's where the line is in and Robin Hood men Yeah, of course, I know It will most people don't get that line.
- 29:09[SPEAKER_00]: It needed to be there.
- 29:10[SPEAKER_00]: It is totally need to be there.
- 29:12[SPEAKER_02]: I correct up when I heard that line All right, and most people like I said don't get it.
- 29:15[SPEAKER_00]: No
- 29:16[SPEAKER_00]: I got two more.
- 29:17[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 29:18[SPEAKER_00]: Both, well, I can't consider Denise Richer's an iconic actress, but I mean, she's iconic in the sense of what she's known for.
- 29:26[SPEAKER_00]: And I don't know who thought this was a good idea, but the world is not enough.
- 29:30[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, yeah.
- 29:31[SPEAKER_00]: Why is she playing a freaking nuclear physicist?
- 29:38[SPEAKER_00]: That's good one.
- 29:38[SPEAKER_00]: I had to forget about what in the she's dumb.
- 29:41[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, okay.
- 29:41[SPEAKER_00]: She may not be dumb as box rocks as in person, but every character she's ever played
- 29:47[SPEAKER_00]: She's dumb as a boxer, right?
- 29:49[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, that wasn't a good one.
- 29:50[SPEAKER_00]: No, absolutely.
- 29:51[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 29:51[SPEAKER_02]: And then last but not least in that too, right?
- 29:53[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, okay.
- 29:54[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, because it's a bond flick.
- 29:56[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
- 29:56[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
- 29:57[SPEAKER_00]: And then last but not least, and some of my Brahms talker friends are gonna hate me for those because a lot of my friends have been like, no, you're totally wrong with this.
- 30:06[SPEAKER_00]: Brahms talker's Dracula.
- 30:07[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 30:08[SPEAKER_00]: Great movie.
- 30:09[SPEAKER_00]: Great movie.
- 30:10[SPEAKER_00]: Gary Oldman is fantastic as Dracula.
- 30:14[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
- 30:18[SPEAKER_00]: What's his name?
- 30:19[SPEAKER_00]: Van Helsing.
- 30:19[SPEAKER_00]: Also great as well.
- 30:21[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think that's Hugh Jackman.
- 30:22[SPEAKER_00]: But Hugh Jackman is a good movie.
- 30:24[SPEAKER_00]: But Hugh Jackman's Van Helsing is pretty good too.
- 30:26[SPEAKER_00]: Very good.
- 30:27[SPEAKER_00]: However, Keanu Reeves has Jonathan Parker.
- 30:31[SPEAKER_00]: What?
- 30:33[SPEAKER_00]: When it's Jonathan Harker, a freaking surfer dude.
- 30:35[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, agree, I agree.
- 30:37[SPEAKER_00]: Anyway, I digress, I think I rest my case on all those.
- 30:40[SPEAKER_00]: I think they were all pretty much suffocated.
- 30:42[SPEAKER_00]: It's really, yeah.
- 30:42[SPEAKER_00]: I skipped one, and that's just because it's like, and it's not that big of a deal.
- 30:46[SPEAKER_00]: I'll say it.
- 30:47[SPEAKER_00]: But it's controversial, too, Mickey Rooney in breakfast at Tiffany's.
- 30:53[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, wait, that's controversial.
- 30:55[SPEAKER_02]: So that's why I left it out because I was like, this is not miscast as much as just the error of the times to do something like that.
- 31:04[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, but he was really good in his portrayal.
- 31:07[SPEAKER_02]: Well, he was he was doing the, I over the top.
- 31:10[SPEAKER_00]: No, I get it.
- 31:11[SPEAKER_02]: But like why not just hire like an Asian act and they didn't think of that.
- 31:16[SPEAKER_02]: Well, why didn't they hire all Puerto Ricans for West Side Story?
- 31:19[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, well, that's a different story.
- 31:21[SPEAKER_00]: That's a different story.
- 31:22[SPEAKER_02]: I got it for Bernardo.
- 31:23[SPEAKER_02]: No, you're absolutely impressive.
- 31:25[SPEAKER_00]: I'm surprised you didn't bring that up.
- 31:27[SPEAKER_02]: I was waiting for you to bring that up because you know, because I didn't think they were miscast.
- 31:32[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 31:33[SPEAKER_02]: I thought they could have,
- 31:34[SPEAKER_02]: made an attempt to get actual Latinos, but the Greek guy at George, I can't think of it last name, but he played a he played Bernard or a well.
- 31:43[SPEAKER_02]: And a stop-a-less, maybe.
- 31:45[SPEAKER_02]: I think so.
- 31:46[SPEAKER_02]: And then Natalie would play that role well.
- 31:48[SPEAKER_02]: Well, they didn't not play the role well.
- 31:50[SPEAKER_00]: Well, the role she did.
- 31:51[SPEAKER_02]: We're done with people who didn't, shouldn't have ever got the role.
- 31:53[SPEAKER_02]: No, I just figured that you were to brought that out.
- 31:55[SPEAKER_02]: But that could be colorless in my opinion.
- 31:57[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, for sure.
- 31:58[SPEAKER_02]: But the reality of even if they say sighted is that you're never going to see a black eye playing Abraham Lincoln or John Kennedy.
- 32:06[SPEAKER_02]: But you do see an Italian guy playing Scarface and Carlito.
- 32:11[SPEAKER_02]: So, you know, the whole Hollywood actors are supposed to be colonists.
- 32:16[SPEAKER_00]: It's not really true.
- 32:17[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, but doesn't go, but not a two-way street.
- 32:20[SPEAKER_00]: But I think we're also, I think we're also pointing out an error of Hollywood from back in the day.
- 32:24[SPEAKER_01]: It's like some of it's not too.
- 32:26[SPEAKER_00]: As opposed to now.
- 32:28[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, some of it's not too.
- 32:29[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, well.
- 32:31[SPEAKER_02]: It may not be as prevalent, but there's something.
- 32:33[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, you talk to people like John Olmels, John Edwards Olmels, Edward Edward, Edward Olmels, and Jimmy Smith's people like that, they'll tell you, you know, a few and far between roles for those guys.
- 32:46[SPEAKER_02]: For those, you know, let's even look, where is Andy Garcia nowadays?
- 32:52[SPEAKER_02]: You know, I mean, God bless he played in Italian guy in the untouchables.
- 32:56[SPEAKER_02]: He's Cuban.
- 32:56[SPEAKER_02]: That's okay.
- 32:57[SPEAKER_02]: No, not around with that.
- 32:59[SPEAKER_02]: But where else?
- 33:00[SPEAKER_02]: What else?
- 33:01[SPEAKER_02]: What movie was that?
- 33:02[SPEAKER_02]: There's a movie that he did.
- 33:03[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, what's the movie where he's the blind guy?
- 33:05[SPEAKER_00]: And it's like a, it's like a rom-com.
- 33:09[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I remember, but I don't remember the name of that.
- 33:11[SPEAKER_00]: I love that movie so much.
- 33:12[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I'm gonna have to look it up.
- 33:13[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, go ahead with your, with your directors.
- 33:16[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, I got two directors only.
- 33:18[SPEAKER_02]: And you're not gonna agree with the first one.
- 33:21[SPEAKER_02]: because we both went to go see high soloists, a week ago see it, we watched it.
- 33:25[SPEAKER_02]: And that was a spike Lee, and I didn't think he'd directed it well at all.
- 33:29[SPEAKER_02]: I thought it could have used the better director.
- 33:32[SPEAKER_02]: For highest to lowest.
- 33:33[SPEAKER_00]: I was, when a man loves a woman, I think that's what the blind guy he played.
- 33:37[SPEAKER_00]: Could be.
- 33:38[SPEAKER_00]: That sounds right.
- 33:41[SPEAKER_00]: I thought he was blind, maybe he's not.
- 33:42[SPEAKER_00]: Anyway, I'm sorry, go ahead, I found it.
- 33:44[SPEAKER_02]: Spike Lee, highest to lowest.
- 33:47[SPEAKER_02]: I thought they should have had a better director.
- 33:52[SPEAKER_02]: I thought the music was all over the place.
- 33:54[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, oh, I thought the thing was all over the place.
- 33:57[SPEAKER_02]: OK, OK, yeah.
- 33:59[SPEAKER_00]: We talked about that when we talked about the actual movie itself.
- 34:02[SPEAKER_00]: We reviewed it.
- 34:03[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I was kind of like this seemed like Spike Lee and Dan's all watching to just want to do it and move it together anyway.
- 34:10[SPEAKER_02]: But yeah, OK, number one for me.
- 34:12[SPEAKER_02]: OK, well, it would be number one.
- 34:13[SPEAKER_02]: OK. Godfather 3, Sophia Copola.
- 34:18[SPEAKER_02]: No business, no business behind the director's chair.
- 34:22[SPEAKER_02]: Absolutely not.
- 34:24[SPEAKER_02]: That was my dad let me you know that that's exactly what it was I know it's like Don't come on if you're going to do a third but it's a series of two great movies Why do you do that?
- 34:35[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, but each she needed to get her start somewhere so that she could become the She shouldn't have been there Don't disagree with you directed that I she's directed a lot of stuff that I know well I'll let me pull up a list.
- 34:48[SPEAKER_00]: I'll pull up a list for you, but okay, is there a third for you?
- 34:52[SPEAKER_02]: No, that's it for me.
- 34:55[SPEAKER_02]: I don't have a third.
- 34:56[SPEAKER_00]: OK.
- 34:58[SPEAKER_02]: I think the movies that I mentioned were the actors who are miscast were well-directed.
- 35:09[SPEAKER_02]: In my opinion, the venture-cold fast-paced, well-directed, 10 Commandments was pretty well-directed, and especially the special effects for the time.
- 35:19[SPEAKER_02]: that what they'd were able to do, what they had was amazing.
- 35:24[SPEAKER_02]: Magnificent seven remake, I don't think that, why didn't like the movie period?
- 35:30[SPEAKER_02]: So, Flintstones, well-directed, just Rosie O'Donnell, should not be Betty.
- 35:37[SPEAKER_02]: Ever?
- 35:38[SPEAKER_02]: Sorry, I had a crush on Betty when I was in high school.
- 35:42[SPEAKER_02]: Actually, after I got a job, too.
- 35:45[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 35:50[SPEAKER_00]: Are you ready for the movies that Francis for or that, uh, sorry, that, uh, Sophia Coppola Yeah, please.
- 35:56[SPEAKER_00]: Lost in translation.
- 35:57[SPEAKER_02]: I didn't like it.
- 35:58[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, it was a great movie.
- 35:59[SPEAKER_00]: Didn't like the virgin suicides.
- 36:01[SPEAKER_02]: And I didn't like it.
- 36:03[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so you don't like these indie type movies that I can tell.
- 36:06[SPEAKER_00]: So and the Baguile also what she's known for as well.
- 36:10[SPEAKER_00]: Uh, another great flick.
- 36:11[SPEAKER_00]: She directed, uh, Persilla.
- 36:13[SPEAKER_00]: as well.
- 36:14[SPEAKER_00]: It was okay.
- 36:15[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
- 36:16[SPEAKER_00]: And I thought there was one more, but it's not popping up.
- 36:23[SPEAKER_00]: But anyway, so as I look through this list, I'm going to go over my things.
- 36:29[SPEAKER_00]: I've only got a couple of them, because we're only doing a couple of directors.
- 36:33[SPEAKER_00]: I'm more than that, but I'm just going to leave it alone and not go crazy.
- 36:37[SPEAKER_00]: But I'm going to go, I'm going to go on opposite on you.
- 36:41[SPEAKER_00]: There's a movie came out in 1996 called Jack.
- 36:45[SPEAKER_02]: Jack?
- 36:46[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
- 36:46[SPEAKER_00]: With Robin Williams?
- 36:49[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think Robin Williams is in it.
- 36:51[SPEAKER_00]: How were Francis Ford Copeland directed it?
- 36:53[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, OK. And this was right after the godfather.
- 36:56[SPEAKER_00]: Well, not right after the godfather, but not to short after that.
- 37:01[SPEAKER_00]: And it was, maybe this is the right movie.
- 37:04[SPEAKER_00]: It's a light-hearted comedy about a boy with a rapid aging condition.
- 37:09[SPEAKER_02]: That's for a movie.
- 37:09[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so why is a serious director directing a comedy that he's never directed a comedy before and the movie was only good because of Robin Williams, so that wasn't it was a good movie I watched that was a good movie and then interesting concept
- 37:25[SPEAKER_00]: This is for all my Broadway fans.
- 37:29[SPEAKER_00]: Some of you will disagree with me and that's completely fine.
- 37:31[SPEAKER_00]: However, the musical rent was turned into a movie.
- 37:36[SPEAKER_00]: And Chris Columbus directed it in 20-05.
- 37:40[SPEAKER_00]: And a lot of my friends, a lot of my theater friends, agree with me, that's some of them don't.
- 37:44[SPEAKER_00]: But I feel like Chris Columbus just lost the whole darker, gritty, feel-film theme of the whole musical.
- 37:55[SPEAKER_00]: a family friendly version of rent.
- 37:59[SPEAKER_00]: So, uh, and then I have a runner up as well because this one really irks me and it irks a lot of my Marvel friends, uh, Hulk, 20, 03, angley.
- 38:11[SPEAKER_00]: So we direct intimate dramas, and then we decide to put them in a superhero film, which then turned out to be like a psychological trauma movie instead of a comic book, like action movie.
- 38:23[SPEAKER_00]: So anyway, those are my three, I'm done.
- 38:26[SPEAKER_02]: I can't disagree with you on any of that.
- 38:28[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I could, but I don't want to.
- 38:31[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 38:32[SPEAKER_00]: Well, you're easy to please.
- 38:34[SPEAKER_00]: And that's why we now have this new peasant dispenser, which is going to be my please, when Annavar goes nuts dispenser or something like that.
- 38:43[SPEAKER_00]: I don't what do we call it?
- 38:45[SPEAKER_00]: It's like the Snickers version of whatever.
- 38:48[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, yeah.
- 38:49[SPEAKER_00]: What do I call it?
- 38:50[SPEAKER_00]: The, the, Now I can't remember what it was.
- 38:52[SPEAKER_00]: And of our character, I don't know.
- 38:54[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
- 38:55[SPEAKER_00]: Anyway, so it's a pad dispenser, and at the very top, it's a tub of popcorn.
- 39:00[SPEAKER_00]: Like you'd get in the movie.
- 39:01[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, geez, could be cheese, actually.
- 39:03[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe, who knows?
- 39:04[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, speaking of that, speaking, have you tried the Chicago mix at the Hollywood there, my friend?
- 39:11[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 39:12[SPEAKER_02]: Is it cheese and caramel?
- 39:14[SPEAKER_00]: It's cheese and caramel.
- 39:15[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, no, I didn't even know the head.
- 39:17[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, yeah, it's on the menu there, my friend.
- 39:19[SPEAKER_02]: All right, try it the last night.
- 39:21[SPEAKER_02]: Why no, I'm going Tuesday to see the mildly movie.
- 39:26[SPEAKER_02]: Is it going to be there?
- 39:26[SPEAKER_02]: It's on Netflix.
- 39:28[SPEAKER_02]: You don't have to go anywhere.
- 39:29[SPEAKER_00]: Man.
- 39:32[SPEAKER_00]: So there you go, that's the episode happy new year.
- 39:34[SPEAKER_00]: Welcome to 2020, six who've got tons of stuff planned for you this year, a couple of themes we haven't picked on yet, and some other outside the box thinking type stuff as far as movies and things are considered.
- 39:49[SPEAKER_00]: But don't forget this is not just about movies, this is about TV shows as well.
- 39:52[SPEAKER_00]: Right, it is called TZ Popcorn.
- 39:53[SPEAKER_00]: It's only here on the Rise Network.
- 39:55[SPEAKER_00]: I'm Chris Miles, we didn't do this, by the way.

- 40:08[SPEAKER_02]: It's hilarious No apologies I beat my son and as with parents do
- 40:16[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, exactly.
- 40:17[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not going to apologize to that.
- 40:18[SPEAKER_02]: Anyway, we are going to, at some point, do best cast.
- 40:21[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, absolutely.
- 40:23[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 40:23[SPEAKER_02]: Action roles.
- 40:23[SPEAKER_00]: And I think other, like, best type things.
- 40:26[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, best director.
- 40:27[SPEAKER_00]: We're going to like a best of, and a worse stuff.
- 40:29[SPEAKER_00]: We'll do, like, an Oscar version almost.
- 40:31[SPEAKER_00]: There you go.
- 40:31[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 40:32[SPEAKER_02]: Do we have to wear a tuxedo?
- 40:33[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe.
- 40:34[SPEAKER_00]: Because we're going to be, we might be filming these now too.
- 40:36[SPEAKER_02]: We might be going on videos.
- 40:37[SPEAKER_02]: So if you're wondering what we look like, the weight is almost very disappointing.
- 40:42[SPEAKER_00]: We do not have makeup artists so there you go.
- 40:44[SPEAKER_00]: No, but that's the episode.
- 40:46[SPEAKER_00]: Thanks again so much for joining us.
