- 0:09SPEAKER_00: Good morning and welcome to Ag Squawk AM.
- 0:11SPEAKER_00: Jed Sidwell here, live from Joliet, Illinois.
- 0:15SPEAKER_00: This is our first edition of Ag Squawk.
- 0:18SPEAKER_00: We're going to keep these shows short, simple, and easy to digest to get you your basic info to get your day started.
- 0:24SPEAKER_00: We have some interesting things to talk about with the crop report coming up.
- 0:28SPEAKER_00: Iran is up to their shenanigans again.
- 0:30SPEAKER_00: Let's go ahead and roll the intro.
- 0:42SPEAKER_00: Well, let's go ahead and quote the market on the grain sides to start off with here.
- 0:48SPEAKER_00: Soybeans were at 1131 down 10.
- 0:52SPEAKER_00: Corn down 9 at 413.
- 0:55SPEAKER_00: And wheat was at 585 and a quarter down five and a quarter.
- 0:59SPEAKER_00: Unfortunate to see that it's down there across the board.
- 1:01SPEAKER_00: Maybe we'll see a bump sometime this week.
- 1:04SPEAKER_00: Let's go ahead and quote livestock.
- 1:06SPEAKER_00: We had a hog and pig report come out, and my hog friends are saying that it was relatively friendly and the expectations were fairly spot on.
- 1:14SPEAKER_00: So the hog number was kind of unchanged there at 96.63 cents.
- 1:19SPEAKER_00: Feeder cattle were at 239.70 down$3.60.
- 1:24SPEAKER_00: Live cattle were at$2.46 down$1.15.
- 1:29SPEAKER_00: Well, onto our weather discussion.
- 1:31SPEAKER_00: Craig Solberg brings us our weather, and I always really like that 120-day chart that he has there.
- 1:37SPEAKER_00: He's on part of our Nezvik family here and provides us with the best weather updates.
- 1:42SPEAKER_00: The Northwest Corn Belt can see daily storms until Thursday this week into northwest Iowa, Nebraska, and Minnesota, about one to two inches there.
- 1:54SPEAKER_00: Luckily, though, for the southeastern corn belt, we're gonna have a time to dry out here.
- 1:59SPEAKER_00: Tommy told me that he drove from Valparaiso all the way down to Nashville this week, kind of getting the Indiana grain tour in.
- 2:07SPEAKER_00: And he said, you know, rain makes grain, but if crops are underwater, our yields there are zero.
- 2:14SPEAKER_00: So hopefully we have some time here for allow that moisture to absorb in the soil and the crop to get the benefit of that moisture.
- 2:22SPEAKER_00: On to our next slide for the day.
- 2:25SPEAKER_00: Our grain report is coming out tomorrow.
- 2:28SPEAKER_00: And you know, whether you love them, hate them, don't pay attention to them, I think you probably should pay attention to them because we always see big changes after these reports come out.
- 2:38SPEAKER_00: I had a great talk with Tom Leffler on Friday about the percent changes that we can normally see at the end of the month when these things come out.
- 2:46SPEAKER_00: And if you'd like to watch that video, we'd love to have you on the premium side.
- 2:50SPEAKER_00: It's$25 a month or$250 annually.
- 2:52SPEAKER_00: You get two months for free there.
- 2:54SPEAKER_00: Get everything that you see there on the screen.
- 2:56SPEAKER_00: By far my favorite and my family's favorite are the text updates.
- 3:00SPEAKER_00: Regardless of what you're out doing in production agriculture, you get updates on big swings in the market or if a tweet comes out.
- 3:07SPEAKER_00: We'd love to have you on the premium side.
- 3:09SPEAKER_00: You find that at AgBull.com.
- 3:11SPEAKER_00: The link will be down below.
- 3:14SPEAKER_00: But like we said, that report comes out.
- 3:16SPEAKER_00: It'll be interesting to see what happens there.
- 3:19SPEAKER_00: We'll keep you updated before and after.
- 3:23SPEAKER_00: Well, like I said at the beginning show, Iran's at it again.
- 3:26SPEAKER_00: And it truly is amazing that at the end of the day on Friday, it's war games again and everyone's bombing one another.
- 3:33SPEAKER_00: Then right before the market comes, or right before the the market opens again, it's peace in the Middle East and Christmas in June.
- 3:41SPEAKER_00: No one's bombing anybody.
- 3:43SPEAKER_00: You have to pay attention to these sort of things when trying to trade oil and things, anything that passes through the Strait of Hormuz, a rising tide brings up all ships, but choppy waters make all markets somewhat volatile.
- 3:57SPEAKER_00: So it'll be interesting to see what happens there in the coming weeks before the market closes and opens with regards to Iran and what they're doing with bombs and things like that.
- 4:09SPEAKER_00: Well, that's all we have for slides for today.
- 4:12SPEAKER_00: To keep you updated on the economic calendar, the export inspections comes out at 10 a.m.
- 4:18SPEAKER_00: The crop progress report is at 3.
- 4:20SPEAKER_00: It'll be interesting to see what that moisture has kind of done to the crop progress and see if it has any effect on that.
- 4:27SPEAKER_00: We'll keep you updated there as well.
