- 0:01Welcome to Rick and That Michelle Chick, the weekly
- 0:05podcast where your hosts, Rick and Michelle, confidently dive
- 0:10into topics they know absolutely nothing about and somehow make
- 0:15it sound legit. They're not experts.
- 0:17They're not qualified. Honestly, they barely googled
- 0:20it. So grab a drink, lower your
- 0:23expectations, and let's pretend this counts as content.
- 0:28So buckle up. Facts are optional, but the
- 0:31bullshit? That's premium grade.
- 0:34This is Rick and that Michelle chick.
- 0:41How was Megan's birthday? I think it went off pretty good.
- 0:44We had her mom came on Thursday and made it to the gorge because
- 0:50of the snow and stuff. So she made it to here and then
- 0:52her brother came on Friday. And so I think it was a pretty
- 0:55darn, I think it was a, a good birthday.
- 0:58So I got the, the Marion Berry pie, which she loves.
- 1:01Got that, got that on Friday. And then on Saturday we did wine
- 1:05tasting. So we went to like 3 different
- 1:08places. We started at noon and then
- 1:10around, around the tri-cities, Benton City and all that.
- 1:12And so we went to three different places, the Cuteri
- 1:15boards and and the wine tasting and her uncle and aunt came
- 1:20along too. So so their wine.
- 1:23Their wine. Members.
- 1:26Well, they are. Yeah, of these different clubs.
- 1:28So a couple places we went, you got kind of, I don't know if
- 1:31it's special treatment, but preferred treatment.
- 1:33Yeah, because they're already wine, wine nippers and stuff.
- 1:36And so then I so I think we had a good time.
- 1:39I mean, it was kind of fun to do that.
- 1:41I actually went way faster than I thought because I thought, Oh
- 1:43my gosh, we're going to be wine tasting all day long.
- 1:46I thought that's just so long, but it actually goes pretty
- 1:48quick when you're with people and people are talking.
- 1:51We went to these three different wineries and then we ended up at
- 1:55for dinner or the last stop was we we'd had brewery, which is
- 1:59right outside Kennewick, kind of sort of in the middle of
- 2:02nowhere. Well, it's incredibly busy.
- 2:04It's just insanely busy. And Megan had the four, four
- 2:08thoughts to rent a Dome. So they've got a couple of domes
- 2:12around there and they're they're see through domes.
- 2:14Yeah, they have them at Trevary. Yeah, the wine right here in.
- 2:18Yeah. Yeah, so it has music, it has,
- 2:21it has little benches, it's got blankets, all that.
- 2:24So it was already self heated inside and and I didn't realize
- 2:27it. You can't hear anything from
- 2:30inside the the the globe. No.
- 2:32It's so so that I get. It own little like party room
- 2:35like yeah. So, so we had.
- 2:37So then her friend Eric showed up and we played.
- 2:41Oh, they played cribbage for a little bit and then and then we
- 2:45played. Oh my gosh.
- 2:47Cards Against Humanity. Fun.
- 2:49Yeah, so Kyron came, Kyron came her son, and he's 2223 and with
- 2:56a bunch of older people. And as he said, we, we all had
- 2:59no sense of humor because they never won.
- 3:01No one would pick his cards, right.
- 3:02So, so I ended up, I ended up being the winner because
- 3:06everybody, every time we would do the the cards that I would,
- 3:09you know, so we did a round of that.
- 3:11But Chiron was hilarious by saying that you know you old
- 3:14people don't have a sense of humor.
- 3:15Well, yeah, Like the kids love to play Cards Against Humanity
- 3:19with their grandparents because a lot of the turns they don't
- 3:22know. And so there have been.
- 3:24Yes, there have been, he says. I can't remember which one it
- 3:27was, but one, I don't know if grandpa had it, but he didn't
- 3:33know what the word was. And so he kind of had to show
- 3:37his card to one of the kids, and then they kind of like,
- 3:40whispered it to him and he was like.
- 3:42Yeah, yeah, not appropriate, basically.
- 3:46So it's funny though. Yeah, some of it's not, some of
- 3:48it's not appropriate. So anyway, we had, we had a good
- 3:51time and then I guess we came home and, and Megan stayed up a
- 3:56little bit to talk to her brother and then and then they
- 3:58crashed. Well, did she like her gift?
- 4:01I think she did well. I saved the receipt, so
- 4:02hopefully she liked it. I think she did, you know her,
- 4:10but she got she got new dishes, she got new cups, she got new
- 4:12dishes. It was great to see her mom.
- 4:15Her mom's always great. I, you know, and her brother's
- 4:16awesome. So I think that I think it made
- 4:19it, I think it made her birthday a little extra special.
- 4:22So, and, and I felt like that, that she had a good time.
- 4:25She said she had a good time. So you got, you got to take it
- 4:28at face value, you know, and then I just have to, I just have
- 4:32to, I just have to remember that it's her birthday, not my
- 4:34birthday. So.
- 4:36So she's not interested. That's correct.
- 4:40Yeah, that's whatever she prefers.
- 4:43Well, that, well, it was her. She preferred sleep.
- 4:46Yes, I get it. Yeah, it makes me laugh.
- 4:50Makes me laugh. Yes.
- 4:52Nope. Like nada, nada.
- 4:54So no, Turned out pretty. Turned out pretty good.
- 4:56So what's the what's the next big one around the corner?
- 4:59What? What is it?
- 5:00February. Yeah, it's February, so.
- 5:03Yeah, Mother's Day, that's around the corner.
- 5:05Something like that. Well, I mean, yeah, unless you
- 5:07have more birthdays in between. I mean, yeah.
- 5:09Kyron's birthday. 'S at the end of May, so yeah.
- 5:12Yeah, so Logan's is tax day, April 15th, he's easy.
- 5:17And then Kyron's May 1st, he's Mayday baby, so.
- 5:21Chili's is April 20th, which is Weed Day and Hitler's birthday.
- 5:25Oh, there you go. Oh, wow.
- 5:26Oh, geez. Yeah.
- 5:27Oh, yeah, That's not that's probably not a good one for a
- 5:31birthday, I guess in terms of, you know, she.
- 5:34It's weed day, so she thinks it's funny.
- 5:35It's 4:20 so. OK, all right, all right.
- 5:38I mean, how are you talking? About Hitler.
- 5:40I was going to say I was talking about I was talking about the
- 5:42Hitler reference on that. I don't know if I want to be
- 5:43born on the same day as Hitler. My my birthday has John F
- 5:46Kennedy and Bob Hope so. So when you're in school and
- 5:50they ask you to do your book report on presidents, mine was
- 5:52always John F Kennedy. Because sure, the same birthday.
- 5:56So, yeah, yeah, that's good. And then Bob Hope's one of.
- 5:59And then Bob Hope's one of my favorite comedians.
- 6:01What I learned that. Well.
- 6:02Well, what I learned from Bob Hope more than anything else is
- 6:06so when I first got started in radio, I, I can't tell a lie, I
- 6:09was kind of, I was kind of arrogant about it full, I guess
- 6:13full of myself about radio. And that was that was my own
- 6:16insecurity not being as not being as good as I as I probably
- 6:21thought I was. Like you're all that because
- 6:23you're on the radio now like that.
- 6:25Well, I mean, I wasn't, I wasn't like Micah.
- 6:28I mean, I, I wasn't like Micah and I didn't go when I, when I
- 6:31first got into radio. I didn't go around and tell
- 6:33people I was on the radio, no. No, really, you don't.
- 6:37But but I did, I did have an aura around me of like I
- 6:44thought, I thought I was better than what I really was.
- 6:47So, so, yeah. So it was like, you know, so I
- 6:51was kind of I I don't someone, someone once said I was
- 6:54arrogant. I I don't, I don't see it like
- 6:56that. But I was different.
- 6:59To them, you probably were or at.
- 7:01That time period, well, at the time, I guess I, you know, I was
- 7:05writing checks my mouth probably couldn't cash.
- 7:07I think to some point just being in that industry, you have to
- 7:11have a a small degree of arrogance.
- 7:14Like sure, there are degrees of that in our business, like the
- 7:18Super arrogant, but I think you have to have a a smidge of it, I
- 7:24guess. I just, I just know for me as a
- 7:28kid, I used, for me, I use confidence as a shield or almost
- 7:33or I guess almost arrogance as a shield to protect myself from
- 7:36getting hurt as a kid when I was with the Wallaces.
- 7:39And then that that kind of transpired into my radio career
- 7:42at the very start of it. I don't, I mean, it's, it's very
- 7:46hard to describe, but what was interesting is there's, I think
- 7:49there's two ways to be a personality.
- 7:51And I know we talked about this a long time ago, but because of
- 7:53Bob Hope, I was watching Bob Hope one night and Bob hopes
- 7:58whole stick is self deprecation. He makes fun of himself the
- 8:01entire so so everybody. So it's almost like the
- 8:04listeners are awesome or the audience is awesome.
- 8:07You know, my wife is awesome, my friends are awesome, but I'm,
- 8:10I'm the guy I, you know, everything fails because.
- 8:13You're the messed up. Yes.
- 8:16And so when I. So when I started doing morning
- 8:18radio many years ago, I decided to take that angle, the self
- 8:22deprecation, you know, like, oh, we're like, we're just lucky to
- 8:25have a listener. Yeah, you know, it's like, Oh my
- 8:27God. And then people would say, oh, I
- 8:28listen to your. Show we do it in our podcast too
- 8:30yeah so. So, so for now, for me, it's,
- 8:33it's literally just part of the character.
- 8:35I mean, it's just part of, of, of how I present myself.
- 8:38But, but, but that was not how I presented myself 30 plus years
- 8:42ago. And so, but Bob Hope was a big
- 8:44part of that. And so I've always felt there's
- 8:47two ways to be as a, as an air talent.
- 8:49You can, you can be humble and self deprecating, making fun of
- 8:52yourself or you and I both have worked with the flip side where
- 8:55I'm the greatest that's ever lived.
- 8:57Nobody's greater than me. Yes.
- 8:59And those people I literally cannot stand to to work with at
- 9:03all. Where they?
- 9:04Are not fun. They're not fun in any way,
- 9:07shape or form to work with. Well, you were at one O 7 many
- 9:10years ago with particular person that is my Lex Luther and you
- 9:14had to deal with her quite a bit where she literally said I am
- 9:17the radio station. Yes, remember those days?
- 9:20Yeah. Yeah, yeah.
- 9:21So it's like. To me.
- 9:23Well, what makes it crazy for me is they're no longer in radio
- 9:27and haven't been for a long time.
- 9:28That's what that's, that's the beauty of it all.
- 9:31And, and it was so funny And I, I normally don't get, I don't
- 9:35give anybody a bad job reference because I, I just don't believe
- 9:37in that. Or at least I, you know, keep my
- 9:39mouth shut. And Andy, they tell you the
- 9:41story that Andy called me. No.
- 9:44Oh, so Andy Winford, which we both know, right?
- 9:47You know Andy, he's down. He's down in Modesto, Stockton.
- 9:49He is the program director at Cat Country and he had an
- 9:52opening on his afternoon show and he's been trying to get me
- 9:57to go there forever, like forever.
- 9:59But we never can cut a deal. Anyway, he calls me out of the
- 10:02blue and goes, hey, somebody's resume came across my desk and
- 10:07now I and they, and they said that person's name and I said,
- 10:10well, my, I go, my name's, I know my name's not on there.
- 10:13And he goes, no, no, no, no, he goes no, absolutely not.
- 10:17But he goes, I recognize the call letters.
- 10:19And you know, so I knew that you probably knew this person.
- 10:23And so I just said, I said, you know what, Andy?
- 10:25I don't ever give a bad reference.
- 10:26I can say is if I if I had a mortal enemy on this planet,
- 10:29that's my mortal, that's my mortal enemy, that's my Lex
- 10:32Luthor, so. Is this person trying to get
- 10:34back into radio or this was? Yeah, you know, I what I, I
- 10:39guess I don't know. They've been out for so long.
- 10:43I mean, I mean, you know, once I once I said that and he's like,
- 10:47and he was like, well, I'm not even going to call her.
- 10:49He goes and he was, he goes, he hadn't heard an air check.
- 10:51He hadn't heard anything. He just, he just saw it come
- 10:53through his desk and said, Hey, Rick probably knows this person
- 10:57and he's and then and then and then by you going by you just
- 11:00literally saying my mortal enemy, he's like, Nope, I'm not
- 11:03interested. And I just said it's, it's, I
- 11:06mean, one of the one of the thing, Hey, not to say that I
- 11:08was when we talked about being a program director for the first
- 11:11time, I, I made a lot of mistakes.
- 11:12I will be the first in line to say that.
- 11:14Yeah, and we. Talked about some of those yes I
- 11:17mean, hey, you know, but but I was still I would like to think
- 11:20even at 28 I was still a good program director.
- 11:23I knew what good radio good radio is yes, I would like to
- 11:27think that. And so I have AI had a hard time
- 11:30managing people, yes than than running a radio station or
- 11:34programming right. So and remember that there was
- 11:36the the sweethearts dance and it was like, oh, let's have a
- 11:40second chance prom, which like yeah, that's an awesome idea.
- 11:44And and this person just says so I can wear a dress and everybody
- 11:47can see me in my dress. Remember that.
- 11:50So I forgot about all this stuff, like, yeah, I just kind
- 11:54of. Well, this is one of those
- 11:55people. Yeah.
- 11:56This is one of those people in radio that that holds courts or
- 11:59think or think or think they hold courts, you know, And it's
- 12:03one of those things, like many years ago, not by my choice, but
- 12:07we ended up working together again.
- 12:08It wasn't my choice. And she ended up getting fired.
- 12:10So it was, you know, she did, she did to herself.
- 12:12But I remember having her. She was taking people backstage
- 12:15to Brad Paisley at the Yakima Sun Dome, and she was marching
- 12:18them across the field or across the, the, the, you know, the
- 12:22complex like she was holding court, Like you might as well,
- 12:25you might as well had a tiara and a scepter in her hand as she
- 12:28was walking the, the backstage winners over there.
- 12:30My gosh, so. And, and to show you just
- 12:33another avenue of arrogance was when she came back to, to she
- 12:38had, she'd worked in Memphis and a couple other places and got
- 12:41basically chased out of those places.
- 12:43Well, she's sitting in our, in our programming meeting and she
- 12:45has a regular cell phone. And then another phone rings,
- 12:48goes, oh, hold on, that's my Memphis cell phone.
- 12:50God. Yeah, please.
- 12:52Yes, yeah. So anyway, self, self
- 12:55deprecation to me is the is the way to go.
- 12:58And I, I, you know, I wish I could drop names on that one,
- 13:01but I, I actually, for once, will not start a holy war.
- 13:06But I think you have dropped this persons name.
- 13:10I so just to show you so years ago she had gone to a different
- 13:16radio station and then her morning Co host.
- 13:20This was back in like 2000. This is 26 years ago.
- 13:23Damn. Her coho cohost's name was Chris
- 13:25Chaos. And he sends me, he sends me an
- 13:28e-mail out of a report. I know it is a radio name.
- 13:31Sends me an e-mail out of out of no one goes you're a douche.
- 13:36And I go and I go who are you? And I go, who?
- 13:38Who are you? I'm Chris Chaos and my cohost
- 13:41says you're a douche. I said, I said, I said.
- 13:44And so anyway, Oh my goodness, it takes a it takes a small man
- 13:49to reach out to some to to reach out to a complete stranger.
- 13:52Someone you don't even know. You're getting one side of the
- 13:56story from this person. Yep, and and and and pick and
- 14:00pick a fight and pick the fight and and.
- 14:03For my recollection, neither neither are in broadcasting any
- 14:09longer. I wonder why that's all I got.
- 14:13That's all I got to say about that.
- 14:14So, so pop opens the self deprecation.
- 14:18Yeah. If you're ever curious.
- 14:20Well, I just, I mean, I think, I think it's interesting.
- 14:23I mean, I think it's one of those things where why we why we
- 14:26do the things that we do. And, and, you know, I mean, for
- 14:29me as a kid growing up, that was kind of my shield back in the
- 14:33day. All that, all that bravado, all
- 14:36that confidence was more of a mask and not, and not the real
- 14:40reality of you know what? I really, you know, every time I
- 14:43do a break on the radio, I'm like this, this sucks.
- 14:46Every time I hear a break, I do that.
- 14:49That's the that's the true truth.
- 14:51When I listen to myself back on an air check, it's like I think
- 14:53I'm the worst talent that ever lived and why am I even walking
- 14:56and breathing on the planet? So, so I loved it when Cheryl
- 14:59used to say one of her old bosses, she goes, she goes, I
- 15:01she goes, I never yelled at you because you're going to beat
- 15:03yourself up long. You know, so much more than then
- 15:07then I'll ever do that. So yeah.
- 15:09Yeah. There you go.
- 15:10And and really quick. That wasn't your favorite person
- 15:12either though. No.
- 15:14Like like not even close. No, like I like I.
- 15:18Just let me know that I had that one right.
- 15:20Yes, you did. Yeah, OK.
- 15:21I mean, you know that I don't like people like that anyway,
- 15:24so. Right, Right.
- 15:26Yeah. But but you had to work.
- 15:27I think you worked a lot longer with her than I did.
- 15:30Or did you come a little bit? You were kind of in you were you
- 15:33were middays when I got there. You were middays and she was
- 15:35doing she was the morning Co host.
- 15:38Her her her Co host Rick Dunnett gotten fired.
- 15:41Now guess. Guess who's talented?
- 15:44He is. Very much so.
- 15:46And guess who's still in radio? He is, yes, I completely agree
- 15:49with that if. That wasn't, I guess.
- 15:50And guess who's friends with him on Facebook?
- 15:52Oh yeah, because he he he's a phenomenal talent.
- 15:58Like, yeah, he's he is incredibly creative.
- 16:02He's an amazing morning show guy.
- 16:04And I always give credit worth credit with do so she was
- 16:06basically her her wagon was hitched to him.
- 16:09I was going to say she's riding everyone else's tail coats,
- 16:13basically. I mean she.
- 16:14Yeah, because, because it was Dewey for a while.
- 16:16Remember, it was Dewey and give Dewey his credit.
- 16:18I mean, I'm not the biggest fan, you know.
- 16:20I mean, Dewey and I have our warriors, you know, but, but I
- 16:23give Dewey credit. Dewey was a great competitor and
- 16:26and be loved and a great talent and it's probably still is so.
- 16:30But here's her here's her wagon, her rickety old Ragon, her bitch
- 16:34wagon, rickety old bitch wagon. Gosh.
- 16:38OK, well on that note, let's move on because we beat this
- 16:42bitch wagon to death, so to speak.
- 16:47I don't know you're going to steal that word.
- 16:49You know you are. Oh yes, I am.
- 16:52Bitch wagon. It was what?
- 16:55What is it? Trifling bitch?
- 16:57It was on Suddenly Amish. She used like this word like
- 17:00like trifling bitch. Or anyway, I was like, Oh my
- 17:03God, I love this. But we'll talk about Suddenly
- 17:07Amish a little bit later. I did want to touch on the
- 17:10celebrity desk. Yeah.
- 17:12I'm ready for February to be over because this is I'm done.
- 17:16I am done. Like I cannot handle Eric Dane
- 17:20passing away. Who was The Who is the Revenge
- 17:24of the Nerds guy that just. Passed away, so Robert Carradine
- 17:27of the Carradine family. So that's and was also Lizzie
- 17:31Mcguire's dad too. Oh yes.
- 17:34So that's so this generation knows him as the dad for Lizzie
- 17:37McGuire. But but but for us it was
- 17:39Revenge of the Nerds. He played Lewis.
- 17:40Yep. Yep.
- 17:42So and I did not realize that he'd been suffering with
- 17:45bipolarism for the last 20 years and sadly he took his life.
- 17:49He was 71 and he took his life. So.
- 17:53Horrible, that is. And then we just got news.
- 17:54It just broke. Not necessarily famous, but
- 17:57Martin Schwartz, daughter Catherine, she's 41 years old,
- 18:01passing away by suicide. And apparently she has a degree
- 18:05in mental health. And she's a, she was a
- 18:07psychologist, psychiatrist, psychologist.
- 18:09And yeah, so this is kind of a crazy, not that, you know, every
- 18:14life matters, but it's kind of. But she spent her entire life
- 18:19trying to to help them the the mentally ill and and it just
- 18:23that news just broken. And then, of course, Vanderbeek,
- 18:26you got, you got Mox, you know, you got Dawson.
- 18:32So a lot of yeah, not a great start.
- 18:36No, no, it's just crazy. Again, I am done.
- 18:40Done with February. Well, especially when it's here,
- 18:43it's by suicide and we don't do enough in this country for
- 18:47mental health. That's for.
- 18:48Sure. No.
- 18:50Not near, no, we don't do we don't do shit basically, besides
- 18:56here, take some drugs. That's that's pretty much it
- 18:59right now. OK, All right, let's move on.
- 19:02That was that was sad. That was somber.
- 19:04I don't really know how to pivot from that.
- 19:07So it's tough. Think about being on the radio
- 19:09when you have to do an announcement of a death
- 19:10announcement. It's like, OK, now some more
- 19:12bells and whistles and jokes. Like what?
- 19:15I don't know how to pivot from. That I know, I know.
- 19:18You try to be, you try to be, you know, serious.
- 19:20And then you go like, and then you're back to honk, honk, beep,
- 19:22beep. Right, right.
- 19:24But you still have to talk about it and you still have to touch
- 19:26on it. And which I think we've talked
- 19:29about on a past podcast about how it is even tougher in radio
- 19:33because like you said, you have to and it's like quicker, like
- 19:36you got to touch on it and then move on.
- 19:38And then it's the next break is like, ha ha, happy, happy.
- 19:41And I don't understand too, going back to the mental health
- 19:44situation, when people, you know, we don't, we don't make
- 19:49mental health part of the conversation, even even in the,
- 19:52in the work day. And it I recently just had a
- 19:55situation at work where a Co worker, you know, writing these
- 19:59blogs that we write. Well, she was like, well, I want
- 20:02to meet with you every week. And I'm like, why?
- 20:04Why do we need to meet every week?
- 20:05I hit the numbers. I'm doing what you're asking.
- 20:07Why do we hit, why do we need to, to meet every week?
- 20:10Why can't we meet once a month? And it's because somebody up top
- 20:14says, you know, I'm your mentor and you need to meet with
- 20:17everybody once a once a week or whatever.
- 20:19And I put my, I put my feet in the sand with this person and,
- 20:24and they were very offended by it.
- 20:26And I told her, I said, I said, I've done everything that you've
- 20:29asked. And I said, well, number one, I
- 20:30go, I go number one, you're not my boss and the person above you
- 20:33is not my boss. And then I also broke it down.
- 20:36I said I have done everything you've asked and and I'm the
- 20:40only person in the region that even hit goal, so why are you
- 20:43bothering me, right And and. Why?
- 20:45Why are you being picked on basically?
- 20:47For Right. And I said, I said my Yeah.
- 20:48And I said my mental health is way more important than having a
- 20:52weekly meeting with you. Oh, yeah.
- 20:54So and then she and then she goes she you know, she's like,
- 20:57well, she's like, well, you used to meet with John Taylor.
- 21:00Well, John Taylor is an actual editor.
- 21:04Because he's a yeah journalist. John Taylor.
- 21:08Worked at multiple publications. Yeah, so if John Taylor wants to
- 21:12take a red pen through my shit any day of the week, you know,
- 21:16and I'll let him because the man is the man is effing brilliant.
- 21:20And I have nothing but respect. And so I've got somebody else.
- 21:24But I guess I I, you know, I was, I was doing radio when they
- 21:27were in diapers. So I have a real, I have a
- 21:29heart. And it and, and what we're
- 21:30talking about is not even radio, No.
- 21:32So. So I have a hard time with it's
- 21:34right and, and, and, and the meeting's not about the
- 21:37meeting's not about my content. Like they don't read my content.
- 21:40They have no idea the meeting. The meeting is a The meeting is
- 21:43a list that they've been given by somebody at corporate to
- 21:47basically beat down on the DJs with.
- 21:50But if they're not even reading your words or knowing, how can
- 21:55how can they come to this meeting and be like you?
- 21:58You. You this this this this this
- 21:59when they don't even. They don't know it all.
- 22:04They don't know it all at all, period.
- 22:06And then, and then they're late to the meeting.
- 22:08Oh gosh. Yeah, so it's like I have a hard
- 22:10time. I I struggle with that.
- 22:12I'm trying to be, I'm trying to be on my best behavior, but I'm
- 22:15one of those people. So, so they were very hurt by it
- 22:17and but I but I also like, well, if you're, if you're performing,
- 22:20why, why would you need a weekly one-on-one?
- 22:23And and I think what, what hurts their feelings is I don't take
- 22:26it. I don't want, I don't want to
- 22:28use any of their ideas. I'm not interested in their
- 22:30ideas. And I.
- 22:32They're just ideas and it's not like this person is like you
- 22:36have to write about this. You don't have to do.
- 22:39That at all. They can throw out ideas and
- 22:42suggestions, but that doesn't mean we have to write about
- 22:45them, especially if we have our own things that we're like, oh,
- 22:48this is really going to hit well, or we're going to hit our
- 22:52numbers with this or, you know, things like that.
- 22:55I don't know. It's they're doing it because
- 22:57someone else told them to do it. They're not doing it because
- 23:00they're not doing it because, because you need it.
- 23:04Well, and I, I, I had a little conversation with them and I
- 23:06know I don't want to, I don't want to talk, you know, a jerk.
- 23:09But I was like, said leaders lead by example said so why I'm
- 23:12so I said so I told them, I said, Hey, I'm on every call
- 23:14that that work has all the time. And when they ask for a change,
- 23:18I make that change immediately in my content.
- 23:20So, so to circle back around with me multiple times about the
- 23:24same thing, you could just go open up my article and see that
- 23:27I've already made the adjustment, I've made the
- 23:29change. So what's the constant need to
- 23:32meet weekly to beat basically beat me?
- 23:35Now they don't see it like that, but I but I look at it from a
- 23:37mental health standpoint, I'm like, this is not good for my
- 23:40mental health. No, no.
- 23:43Right. It's like, yeah, it's it's the
- 23:45most ridiculous thing anyway, so get going back to the mental
- 23:48health. We don't do enough.
- 23:49We just don't do enough. And that that if you're asking
- 23:52me what's what's bothering me this week, that encounter
- 23:56greatly wears has weighed heavily on me because I feel
- 24:00like I was the jerk and I felt bad or that I'm not a team
- 24:03player, but I also. Because they were hurt by what
- 24:07you said. And so then in turn you think
- 24:10now you're the ass. Basically, yeah.
- 24:12Well, because they're going to go back and tell they're going
- 24:14to go back and tell somebody else not, you know, the hey,
- 24:17Rick, was it? Well, you know he's not Well,
- 24:19that's. Because like, their boss is
- 24:21going to be like, hey, how come you're not meeting with Rick
- 24:23every week like I told you? And so they're going to have to
- 24:26answer for that. And so then that's going to
- 24:28start up that conversation. Yeah.
- 24:30But the crazy thing is there are people that aren't even your
- 24:32boss. So it's like, so it's like if my
- 24:34boss came to me and said, hey, you're going to meet with this
- 24:36person once a week, mandatory, OK, so be it.
- 24:38I will, but but they're not. And so it's like and and again,
- 24:42I'm more frustrated. Like you're not even paying it.
- 24:44You're not even reading the you don't even know what content
- 24:46I've done. It's.
- 24:47Crazy that they are not even reading your shit and they're
- 24:50still like. No.
- 24:53And you were there at that? Yeah, you were there during that
- 24:55time where it's, you know what I'm saying?
- 24:57Like. God, yes.
- 24:58Like it's a laundry list. Well, if you're doing the
- 25:00laundry list and you're hitting the numbers, why are you
- 25:02bothering this person? Great.
- 25:03Leave them alone. Yeah, there's no reason to meet
- 25:07with them. I could see, like, if you're not
- 25:09hitting the numbers, if you're struggling with ideas, which
- 25:12sometimes, yeah, we would struggle with things to write
- 25:15about because there maybe wasn't a lot going on or whatever it
- 25:19was. And so yeah, like sitting down
- 25:22and having some ideas or bouncing ideas off of someone
- 25:25helps, but this isn't necessary in your situation, so.
- 25:29My own arrogance prevents me from asking for help.
- 25:34Joking, joking. It's like for me, for me, yeah.
- 25:38No, for me, there's ton of there's content everywhere.
- 25:41Yeah. So.
- 25:42So nowhere to find it. And right, right.
- 25:44So it's it's so, I mean, I don't even, I don't even enjoy the, I
- 25:47don't even join. I don't enjoy the brainstorming
- 25:50aspect, Michelle, because then I feel obligated to write, to
- 25:54write those articles. Yeah.
- 25:55So it's like I don't enjoy brainstorming.
- 25:57And now my Co host, Patty, she loves that.
- 26:00She wants to do everything in a group she doesn't understand.
- 26:02I like what Patty brings up. She doesn't understand why we
- 26:05have to do it individually when you can just show everybody all
- 26:09you know at once. So in our company, you've got
- 26:11varying degrees of people doing these things, as you already
- 26:14know. Yeah.
- 26:15So, so, So one person still can't spell cats, you know, And
- 26:18then you got one person over here who's doing every anything
- 26:21and everything that's asked of them, and they treat them equal.
- 26:25Yes, you. You, you, you equally get the
- 26:27beating. That's how it's always been.
- 26:30And we talked. About this, in a past podcast,
- 26:32people who got their production done, which are commercials that
- 26:37needed to be done right away and then you had the other people
- 26:40who would not do it and. And then you'd have a meeting,
- 26:43Hey, hey guys, get your production done.
- 26:45Get your production done. But you're like, well, I'm a
- 26:48person who gets my production done.
- 26:49Why? Why am I in this meeting?
- 26:51And then eventually they stopped giving the production to the
- 26:54person who wasn't doing it and loaded up the people who were
- 26:57doing it like. That's what they do because that
- 27:00person that yeah. So anyway, we're yeah, kind of
- 27:02same situation. So that if you were asking the
- 27:05one thing that was bothering me this week, that was the one
- 27:07place where I thought I was being.
- 27:08I mean, I didn't ask you, but. I I've been, I actually wanted
- 27:12to talk about it, but I didn't know how to.
- 27:14Approach it so. Thank you.
- 27:15Thank you for the in on that. Whitey, you could have said
- 27:18something we always talk about before we start the podcast,
- 27:20what we're going to talk about. And you know, you could always
- 27:24be like, look, I want to bitch about this.
- 27:27This is bothering me. Well, I felt bad because maybe
- 27:31this isn't the place that to to gripe is.
- 27:33It air out your dirty laundry. I think we're airing out
- 27:36everything at this point. So I think, well, I think again,
- 27:39when you got into the mental health situation, I, you know,
- 27:42it's like I'm, I'm telling this, I mean, I'm literally telling
- 27:44this person you affect my mental health.
- 27:47And yet they're literally ignoring me because I got an
- 27:50e-mail today going as per our discussion, like, because,
- 27:53because they have to recap it for the overlord, they have to
- 27:56recap it for the overlord, right?
- 27:58But again, again, it's like. So are they upset that you don't
- 28:02want to meet with them or the fact that you pointed out that
- 28:05when you do meet with them it affects your mental health?
- 28:09Like are they, are they just upset with it in general or
- 28:11because you pointed that? Out.
- 28:13They're upset, they're upset, they're upset because I don't
- 28:15want their coaching because they say even the even the QB on the
- 28:19team needs coaching. OK, from John Taylor.
- 28:23That's their go to, OK. But right.
- 28:26But who's coaching me? Right.
- 28:29You know who's coaching me? That's like, that's like saying
- 28:32somebody who no, well, that's what I'm saying.
- 28:35It's like somebody who's 18 years old just started radio.
- 28:38I've been doing it 38 years at the end, not to brag, but at the
- 28:42highest levels and to say they're going to coach me, I
- 28:45don't think so. You've won every single award
- 28:48possible at the company that you work at, yes.
- 28:51So yeah. Yes, yeah.
- 28:55And so to me, it's like, it's like, I mean, I I don't know,
- 28:58it's like, and I think, and let's go back to that really
- 29:00quick about radio and be an air check back when remember the
- 29:03days we did air checks, if you respected the person who was air
- 29:06checking you, you listened like give me, oh, give me more, give
- 29:10me more, give me more, Give me. You did.
- 29:11Everything that they wanted you to do, like you improved and you
- 29:16made it a point that you made sure that you hit all those
- 29:19improvements and did what they said.
- 29:22So that when you go back in for next week or next month, however
- 29:26often you're air checked, then they would sit down and listen
- 29:29to it and know that you did everything in that last meeting
- 29:33that they told you to do. But you did because you
- 29:35respected them though, right? Yes.
- 29:37Now, now, now let's go back to the bad program directors.
- 29:39You had that like couldn't find their whole, you know, I'm
- 29:41saying, and you knew they are a bad program director.
- 29:43Oh, yeah. It's, it's hard to take
- 29:44direction. Yes, from, from, you know, and
- 29:47I, and again, I know it always sounds arrogant, but it's
- 29:49harder, harder to take direction from people that you know,
- 29:52you're smarter than. Right.
- 29:54And that we're giving you, I don't know, criticism that just
- 29:58wasn't I, it just wasn't what, I don't know, what am I?
- 30:03What am I looking for here? Like it just wasn't relevant or
- 30:07it wasn't something that you needed to improve on or, you
- 30:11know, it was just garbage stuff, I guess basically, right.
- 30:15That goes back. So that goes back to as as my
- 30:19boss told me, because I did go to my boss and talk about it and
- 30:21they said, well, Rick, she's got a list.
- 30:24She's just going down the list. Right.
- 30:26So for for every employee, all right, but but she should know
- 30:30as a leader, OK, I know this particular contributor already
- 30:34checks all the boxes. Great.
- 30:36Like why so? So that's.
- 30:38Like one of your best players? Right, right.
- 30:40So if you check all the boxes, you know, why would you need a
- 30:43weekly one-on-one with somebody who checks your boxes now once a
- 30:46month? Absolutely.
- 30:47Hey, how's it going? Blah, blah, blah, blah.
- 30:49Great. Lego once a month check in.
- 30:51And and I laughed at this person because they're like, well, you
- 30:55know, well, I hope you feel like you can reach out.
- 30:57Yes. Yeah.
- 30:59Getty Images was down. You saw me reach out.
- 31:02Hey, Can, what's wrong with Getty Images?
- 31:04Well, this person. Take picture.
- 31:06Yes, this person changed the e-mail and didn't tell everybody
- 31:09else. So no, no, but, but I'm, I'm
- 31:12not, I'm picking on them. But I'm just saying, is is the
- 31:15reason why I couldn't get to Getty Images and get my article
- 31:17done is because the same person who's got this list changed our
- 31:21e-mail and didn't change the password for three markets and
- 31:25didn't tell them? Holy crap, that's crazy.
- 31:28Right, so it's not the pick on them.
- 31:30It's like, hey, man, you lead by example.
- 31:33And so it's like, if I need something, I'll reach out, but
- 31:35if I don't need anything, then I don't understand why we have the
- 31:37conversation. So yeah, there you go.
- 31:39I feel better now. Thank you, Michelle.
- 31:41I'm going to check the mail. Now that you've vented that
- 31:45you're check your mail. You'll be getting that real
- 31:47soon, so not much. My three cents.
- 31:51Your three cents. Well, what did Lucy charge?
- 31:52Like 5 But then but then she kept pulling the the she kept
- 31:57pulling the football out from Charlie Brown.
- 31:59Yeah, that was him. Well, Speaking of football here,
- 32:03that's a good like pivot and transition.
- 32:06I was right. I was right.
- 32:08I was right about the Seahawks, wasn't it?
- 32:11Wasn't I called it, called it, called it a mile away even
- 32:14before like the speculation came out before the Super Bowl that
- 32:19they were going to put the Seahawks up for sale.
- 32:21I called it. So, yeah, I think, I mean, not
- 32:23that I want them to be put up for sale, I I don't, but this,
- 32:28this has been in the writing all along.
- 32:30We all knew this was going to. Happen.
- 32:32It's part of the estate. It's part of the estates.
- 32:35And Jodie Allen. Amazing.
- 32:37This money goes to charity. I mean, you've got, I mean,
- 32:41yeah, you got, you got the win. You're going to be cashing out
- 32:44six to $8 billion. Right.
- 32:46Your your value just went up because you won the Super Bowl
- 32:50again. And so, yeah, so you sell high
- 32:53like smart, smart business. I actually, I actually did an
- 32:57article about the five billionaires that.
- 33:01That could possibly buy the team.
- 33:02So, yeah, so I said Bill Gates. I said Bill Gates because
- 33:06because of the friendship with Paul Allen, I'm not saying
- 33:09they're going to. I'm just saying these would be
- 33:11the billionaires you're looking at.
- 33:12Bill Gates, Bezos. No.
- 33:16The one that I loved is my wild card, and I think she should, is
- 33:19Mackenzie Scott. Yes, Oh my God, yes, that would
- 33:23be. That's fabulous.
- 33:24Right. And then I think it's and then
- 33:27Ballmer and then Ellison. But for me, Mackenzie Scott,
- 33:30because she she's philanthropic and she's wonderful and she
- 33:34gives away so much of her wealth.
- 33:35I think she'd be a great. So when you're and I'm and The
- 33:39thing is, I said they had to have Seattle ties too.
- 33:41So they had to be a Washingtonian, not just not just
- 33:44a billionaire. So lots were saying like Mike
- 33:47Mark Cuban, which I do love Mark Cuban, right.
- 33:50I'd be OK with, I would be OK with Mark Cuban buying that'd.
- 33:52Be fine. Yeah, yeah.
- 33:53But Mackenzie Scott was my number one pick because of the
- 33:56good works that she does. Well, plus and it would be great
- 33:58to have another female, you know.
- 34:01NFL for Jodi Alder. Yeah, absolutely.
- 34:03Yeah, absolutely. Absolutely.
- 34:05So. So you called it.
- 34:08Feel good about it. No, I mean, I'm not happy about
- 34:11it. Like, again, I'm worried about
- 34:12who's going to buy them. But, you know, at the same time,
- 34:16like we all knew this was going to happen, so it wasn't hard to
- 34:20figure this out, so. Yeah.
- 34:21Well, I think what I think what's great about this time
- 34:24around and, and whether I agree or disagree with this, because
- 34:27I'm not a big fan of the public having to buy big stadiums.
- 34:30But but I will say that is the caveat of staying in Seattle is
- 34:35that or back in 96 when they almost left was with the Kingdom
- 34:40is you got to buy a big, massive stadium, you know, for these
- 34:42owners to stay there. And, and it's on, like you said,
- 34:45it's on the taxpayers back. But then on the flip side, that
- 34:48brings, that brings tourism, that brings people stay in the,
- 34:52I mean, the list goes on and on. Billions of dollars.
- 34:54For me it's a double edged sword.
- 34:56It's a double edged sword. But then you can also use Lumen
- 34:59Field for concerts and events and all these different things.
- 35:02So. So on one hand, I'm not a big
- 35:04fan of, you know, it's, it's same things I'm not a big fan of
- 35:08like WSU or the Huskies with their their top employee being
- 35:12the coach making $6 million a year for sports.
- 35:15No, I I'm just saying I'm not but.
- 35:18The doctors are not happy about it either.
- 35:20Right, so, but I understand how that you.
- 35:23Said Huskies. That's why they're parking.
- 35:25Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, I'm kidding.
- 35:27So I understand what how that works a little bit.
- 35:29Yeah. So, so, so to me, yeah, I'm
- 35:31going to go with, got to go with Mackenzie Scott.
- 35:34The delivery guy is like, why? Why does the delivery guy park?
- 35:38There again, right? Every single day.
- 35:42We talked about this on another podcast.
- 35:44I think they bark in almost every podcast.
- 35:47Well. He sits out there and rearranges
- 35:49his packages. I'm like, really?
- 35:50Yeah, you got to pick our house and sit out in front and
- 35:52rearrange the packages so he can.
- 35:53So, so, so he sits there and he just barks non-stop.
- 35:58So yeah, anyway, my pick is Mackenzie Scott.
- 36:00OK, all right, all right. Who are you picking?
- 36:02Who do you think? I don't know.
- 36:03I haven't really thought about it.
- 36:06My concern is that Jeff Bezos would be the one that would buy
- 36:10them and I really don't want any type of but the people with all
- 36:15the money are people like him. So I don't know, you know, why
- 36:18can't like a bunch of us normal people group together and like
- 36:22put our money in and have like 20,000 owners of the Seahawks
- 36:27like. Well, I think, yeah, whatever.
- 36:30It might even be an investment group down the road, like like
- 36:32you said, like John Elway or I mean people like that or Tom
- 36:35Brady. So because they got to raise 6
- 36:37to $8 billion. So.
- 36:40So if it's not a billionaire buying it outright, then it's
- 36:42going to be some investment group or something.
- 36:44Right. Kind of like the Sounders you,
- 36:46you know, you have a whole bunch of different people that are.
- 36:49Drew Carey is one of them, but he's not the sole owner of the
- 36:53Sounders. So yeah.
- 36:54Yeah, yeah. So you you called it though.
- 36:57I know. OK, I do.
- 36:59I have a correction to make. We talked about that my new show
- 37:02Addiction in the last podcast, which is suddenly Amish and
- 37:08James and Emma, I mentioned were cousins.
- 37:11Well, they're third cousins. I saw like I saw it in this last
- 37:16week's episode that they were third cousins.
- 37:19So I just wanted to correct that.
- 37:21Not that that it's any better. It's still weird.
- 37:25But yeah, they are third cousins.
- 37:28I think I. Wouldn't I think?
- 37:30They wouldn't like have any type of flirting like they've been
- 37:34doing or anything like with my third cousin, like is I don't
- 37:39know, it's it's weird, but it's a.
- 37:41Great show, cousin. So yeah.
- 37:42So yeah. It's a great show then.
- 37:44Yeah, OK. And also last podcast, we did
- 37:49touch on Obama talking about aliens and how everybody went
- 37:52bananas because he just mentions aliens in the rapid fire
- 37:55question that he does believe that there are they are real.
- 37:59And so everybody jumped on the fact that, my God, like there's
- 38:03proof, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
- 38:04And then he had to go back and correct it.
- 38:05Like, no, I haven't been to Area 51.
- 38:07No, I haven't seen aliens. And then you mentioned Donald
- 38:12Trump, that if there was aliens, he would have spilled the beans.
- 38:16Easily. And then what happened after our
- 38:18podcast? Oh, I'm releasing everything on
- 38:21aliens. I'm releasing any and all
- 38:22information on aliens. But I'm still waiting on my John
- 38:25F Kennedy stuff. I'm still waiting on my my Doge
- 38:29checks. I'm still waiting on my SO.
- 38:31I'm still waiting on my tariff rebate.
- 38:33All these different things. I think.
- 38:34I think he is the king of distraction.
- 38:37I just thought it was funny that I mean, it's just, you know,
- 38:40it's I think it was just because, well, it's a multitude
- 38:44of reasons, but obviously because Obama said it and now
- 38:48because Obama was getting the I don't attention and then he had
- 38:53to go back and say, well, didn't he mention something about like
- 38:58Obama's going to be a trouble because that's classified.
- 39:01Or. Something he made some kind of
- 39:03comment along those lines and in my mind I'm going what, like you
- 39:08had classified documents in your bathroom.
- 39:10What are you talking about? Like he he didn't say like I've
- 39:15seen it. He was doing rapid fire
- 39:18questions and he just says like, yeah, I believe we all can have
- 39:23our own personal preference on whether we believe aliens are
- 39:25real or not. It's not based on he's seen
- 39:27classified documents. And so I'm like, Oh my.
- 39:31God like. You cannot allow Obama to have
- 39:35any sense of anything. And that's what's bothering you
- 39:38with this is? Well, I thought it's.
- 39:40Funny that he's like, I'm I'm ordering everyone to declassify
- 39:45any documents with UFOs or aliens and we haven't seen those
- 39:49documents yet so. Well, he blames everybody else
- 39:52for having TDs and then he can't get well, tonight's going to be
- 39:55the State of the Union address. By the time this airs, it'll be
- 39:57long, long come and gone, right? A couple days, yeah.
- 40:00After, yeah. And so, I mean, again, it's
- 40:02going to be, it's going to be like you said earlier, you know,
- 40:05blah, blah, blah, blame Biden, blah, blah, blah, blah Biden,
- 40:08blah blah blah, blah Biden, maybe Obama, blah blah, blah.
- 40:12Right. Exactly.
- 40:13And so it's like, and again, it comes down to a leader.
- 40:17A leader leads by example and and so for me, picking fights
- 40:22and name calling and that that for me is the lowest common
- 40:26denominator when it comes from from a.
- 40:29A leader is you. A leader takes the High Road.
- 40:32The leader always takes the high.
- 40:33Road and takes responsibility. A true leader takes
- 40:37responsibility for anything and everything, whether or not they
- 40:41are directly responsible. It's like you.
- 40:44Are at the top, yes, like. It's on their watch.
- 40:47It's your responsibility. Well, even from even from a
- 40:52Nixon standpoint, anybody like the guy or not, he resigned.
- 40:56He like he's like, I have to resign, you know, I have to
- 40:58resign the presidency. He's taken, you know, full, you
- 41:02know, he just, he had to. So it's one of, you know,
- 41:06Trump's not, you know, death, death and, and even and and
- 41:11they're already saying Robert De Niro just did a big interview
- 41:15and had said that he's not leaving.
- 41:17Wasn't he? Wasn't that with Nicole Wallace
- 41:20on? She has her podcast The best
- 41:21People. I love her podcast.
- 41:23Yes, and and about smiling and all that.
- 41:25But but, but she was talking to Robert De Niro and she's like,
- 41:29well, do you think he'll leave? And she and he goes, No, he will
- 41:31not leave. Yeah, I've seen several people
- 41:33that have said that. Well, just just even to the
- 41:36point of when, when he was the successor to to Biden, he just
- 41:41refused to even be there at the inauguration.
- 41:44That again, that speaks, that speaks to leadership.
- 41:47That speaks to leadership. Well, we're we are still
- 41:50litigating. Well, they are this whole 2020
- 41:53stolen election stuff. It's.
- 41:56All ridiculous. Which I have some drama about
- 41:59that, but I want to touch on since we're talking about the
- 42:02state of the union, I really want to know who the designated
- 42:06survivor is going to be whenever we have stain of the union
- 42:10dresses, because it's normally like someone who's not important
- 42:13in the. Cabinet.
- 42:14Yeah. Like, it's like the
- 42:15transportation secretary, yeah. Yeah.
- 42:17Or like, yeah, the commerce secretary or, or whoever.
- 42:20They even tell you they don't tell.
- 42:23You they do? Yeah.
- 42:24Something, yeah. Usually they realize the name of
- 42:26who the designated survivor is going to be.
- 42:29Yeah. Now I got to know.
- 42:30They usually do, but they have it.
- 42:34Democrat Mike Thompson. That's for the Democrats.
- 42:38OK, so who's the Republicans? They haven't released it, and
- 42:41normally they release who the designated survivor's going to
- 42:44be. You don't know where they are.
- 42:46Like we don't know where the location is because they have to
- 42:49be kept separate and then, you know, they have the.
- 42:53So one of the 15 cabinet secretaries is selected.
- 42:57Yeah, and this all started during the Cold War.
- 42:59Yep, of course. So it's been going on forever.
- 43:03My thought was because they haven't announced who it's going
- 43:05to be yet, maybe they're not willing to pick one.
- 43:08I don't know. Like maybe they think like it's
- 43:11not necessary anymore because usually you announce who your
- 43:15designated. Survivor is going to be so last
- 43:18year, Secretary of Veteran Affairs Doug Collins was the guy
- 43:23who Rick Perry was one year. Yeah, I remember.
- 43:25I. Was thinking oh God watch it be
- 43:30RFK Junior. Like that's going to be the
- 43:33designated survivor for this one.
- 43:35So doesn't that scare the didn't that?
- 43:39Yeah, don't really. Start his video with Kid Rock is
- 43:41creepy as shit. Link.
- 43:43Yeah, but does not say right now.
- 43:45No. And usually they release it.
- 43:47I don't know if they're just going to release it right
- 43:49before, they're just not going to, you know, a multitude of
- 43:52things. But normally it is released.
- 43:55Yeah, the Democrats already released their guy, so.
- 43:57We can talk about it, but yeah. That's crazy.
- 44:01Anyway, that's a great show if you ever want.
- 44:03To if you ever love it. Yes.
- 44:05I do love it, yeah. It kind of fell apart for me in
- 44:08later seasons, but I love the first few.
- 44:10First few seasons was an absolute watch for me.
- 44:13I loved it. Kiefer Sutherland.
- 44:14Great, great, great, great. Maggie Qi, love that.
- 44:17Oh yeah, that whole show was great.
- 44:19Yeah, Yeah. Well.
- 44:21Michelle is the designated survivor.
- 44:22So there you go. OK.
- 44:25Thanks. I would do not pick thee.
- 44:27Do not. Since we're talking about family
- 44:30drama and the president, the 2020 election and all that, I'll
- 44:34just roll right into this. So more family drama is
- 44:39involving my mom. So she randomly sent my oldest
- 44:43son Matthew this text message. I have it, I had to write it
- 44:46down. It says handsome.
- 44:48Wow, I was right. 2020 was a proven stolen election.
- 44:54Georgia is under FBI investigation.
- 44:57Only took six years. Nana isn't crazy lol.
- 45:01Now keep in mind, my oldest son volunteers during the elections
- 45:06as a poll worker. He's done this since I can
- 45:09remember. He's been involved in politics
- 45:12since he was 18. At 18.
- 45:14That was when the 2016 election was happening.
- 45:17And he on his own found the where his caucus meeting place
- 45:23was going to be during the 2016 election so that he can go and
- 45:27caucus for his pervert preferred candidate at the time, it was
- 45:31Bernie Sanders. He might get mad at me for
- 45:33saying Bernie Bro yes. And so he, on his own, founded,
- 45:38he went, he caucused at 18 years old.
- 45:42So this kid knows his stuff about elections and being a poll
- 45:47worker. And here's the kicker, my mom
- 45:51used to work in the records department at the County
- 45:55Courthouse. Granted this was like 30 years
- 45:58ago, but that's they are they sit next to the elections
- 46:03department and on like election night or whatever, she would
- 46:07have to work late because she would have to help be like
- 46:10getting all these ballots and getting them all counted,
- 46:13getting them all organized. So she of all people knows kind
- 46:17of like how this how this functions and works.
- 46:20So it just blows my mind that she is just sucked into this,
- 46:24that it's like, just because they seized the voting stuff
- 46:29from 2020 in Georgia, that doesn't mean that it was fake or
- 46:35whatever they're trying to say that it it was rigged.
- 46:39But now that the affidavit has came out as to like the
- 46:43reasoning that they have to give for this to happen, the person
- 46:46at the heart of it is one of those election deniers.
- 46:49And a lot of the things that they listed in there has proven
- 46:52not to be true. So I don't know.
- 46:55That's that's mine. That's mine.
- 46:57Sorry. About it.
- 46:59You know, no matter what, there's 36 months left of Trump.
- 47:02So, so Nana, when it's all said and done, you, we, you know, we
- 47:06just got to, we got to buckle in barrel down for, for 36 months
- 47:10and then he's gone now. De Niro says he's not going to
- 47:14leave. No, no, he is not going to
- 47:15leave. But I'm saying what I will.
- 47:17I will give Trump credit for one thing and one thing only is all
- 47:23the other Republicans the Magas could care less about.
- 47:26They don't like like the Magas. They they only care Trump's
- 47:30people only care about Trump and I, and I will give them credit.
- 47:34So once Trump is gone, that will happen someday, either by death
- 47:38or being yanked out of the White House.
- 47:41Then what? What you going to do?
- 47:43And I'm not saying they're going to go out and immediately vote.
- 47:45Oh, I will, I will. I had a great conversation with
- 47:48our buddy who's a libertarian. You know what you want to talk
- 47:52about. Yes, yes I do.
- 47:53Mr. Esquire, out of the blue, he called me, had a great, we had a
- 47:57great conversation to talk for about an hour.
- 47:58We haven't talked in haven't talked in years, but I but I
- 48:01adore him and Kerry and they're wonderful.
- 48:03Anyway, Mr. Libertarian guess, Guess who he don't like?
- 48:06Who does he not like? I mean, besides Trump,
- 48:08obviously. He didn't like him at.
- 48:10All no, because as a libertarian like they are taking away all
- 48:14kinds of rights and blurring on the lines.
- 48:18Exactly. So, so, so.
- 48:20And it was interesting how he was talking about, I think his
- 48:23one, one son's a right winger, the other one's a left winger.
- 48:27And he's a libertarian down, right, straight down the middle
- 48:29of it all. So it's like, it's like, yeah,
- 48:33so but they but it, but the interesting thing about that,
- 48:35it's Trump. That's it, period.
- 48:37So it's they're not, they're not Marco Rubio fans, they're not JD
- 48:40Vance fans. They're not all these other
- 48:42people. So once this is said and done,
- 48:45you know. I don't know who's going to be
- 48:47the new person face of. Well, the new, the new poll
- 48:51right now, if there was an election held today, he wouldn't
- 48:54win. No, you know, then he's like
- 48:56he's like at 30% now he's like, he's falling hardcore.
- 49:00Again. Even even among his, even among
- 49:02his own people. Oh yeah, like he his, like I've
- 49:05said, there is this the underground resistance to him?
- 49:11Now if if the if the yes, there's an underground
- 49:14resistance and isn't. Being seen by the news, the
- 49:18pollsters, yeah, all that kind of stuff.
- 49:20So. If he loses the midterms, then
- 49:22he's then he's just a gnat on. He's just a he's what they call
- 49:26a lame duck. Yeah, then the last two years of
- 49:28his presidency, like you can't do well #1 the tariffs, he got
- 49:32shot down, Supreme Court shot him down.
- 49:34He's like, he's like a like an effing baby.
- 49:36He's like 15% across the board for everybody.
- 49:38I I, which would probably be the only reason I would watch the
- 49:42State of the Union, because they're all going to be sitting.
- 49:45Oh yeah, he is. No.
- 49:46Raw, raw and I know. He's going to attack him.
- 49:49Oh yes. He's going to attack him.
- 49:50He's. Going to like say your shit
- 49:52right like right to them and they.
- 49:54Except for. Except for Kavanaugh.
- 49:56Except for Kavanaugh. God, yeah.
- 49:58But they can't. React they they just have to sit
- 50:00there like stoic. They can't be like a Marjorie
- 50:03Taylor Green and be yelling you. Well, that's what a lot can't do
- 50:07that and that's what a lot of people are saying.
- 50:09Someone was was talking about the disruption during the the
- 50:14speech or whatever. And someone says Democrats
- 50:16better, somebody had said on the on threads, Democrats better,
- 50:19you know, sit down and shut up, blah, blah, blah.
- 50:22And someone brought up Marjorie Taylor Green and said Ryan's
- 50:25talking about his dead son and Marjorie Taylor Green yells liar
- 50:28or whatever. I mean, so, so I know our own
- 50:32Patty Murray's not going. She's not attending at all.
- 50:35Do you agree that that the representative should be there
- 50:37or not be there? I know some of them are going,
- 50:40you know, like ROH Khanna, who's part he and Thomas Massie are
- 50:44the ones that have been spearheading getting the Epstein
- 50:47files released. And I know he is going, but he's
- 50:50taking a Epstein survivor with him.
- 50:53And I know a lot of the Congress people, Democratic Congress
- 50:58people, a lot of them are doing that.
- 51:00They're taking Epstein survivors with them.
- 51:04I'm kind of on the fence. I, I don't, it doesn't, it's
- 51:08not. It's not really going to make a
- 51:10difference either way whether you go or you don't go.
- 51:13Like, yeah, not going is saying I don't support whatever, but
- 51:18even going isn't you saying I support whatever because both
- 51:24sides of the aisle usually go. So I'm not, I don't know.
- 51:29Well, it's not going to make a difference and it just gives
- 51:32people other it just takes away from stuff that's important to
- 51:35talk about. And now you've given them this
- 51:38to talk about, which is a trivial thing that you're not
- 51:41going to the speech if. That yeah, I think, I think, I
- 51:44think Nancy Pelosi a few few years back when she ripped up
- 51:47the speech would for me said it all.
- 51:49Now also and, and the crazy thing about the State of the
- 51:52Union, people don't even realize that even that in itself is
- 51:55political, because when he makes that long walk to the podium,
- 51:58yeah, they purposely put up and coming and it's all about who's
- 52:02in favor, yes, who gets to shake the hand of the president, Who
- 52:06gets who gets talked to. It's absolutely 100% set up.
- 52:11So if you're an upcoming congressman and wherever in
- 52:13North Dakota and you've got enough political currency, I got
- 52:16to be seen with the president. They set it up so where when
- 52:19he's shaking hands, oh, there's there's the junior Councilman
- 52:22from congressman from he's the next big rising star in the
- 52:25party. Yes, because, you know, millions
- 52:28of people are going to be watching this.
- 52:30And so that is the whole key is to tee that up.
- 52:33Who's exactly the rising star in the party?
- 52:37But I wanted to bring up since we were talking about what my
- 52:39mom texts about the 2020 election and that how it was
- 52:42stolen. It's like if that was the case,
- 52:45if we were stealing elections, we would have stolen this last.
- 52:48Why would we let this guy win again?
- 52:50And we would have stacked like the Senate and the House so that
- 52:53we could have gotten some shit done.
- 52:55Like it just, it doesn't make any sense at all when you think
- 53:00about it. Even if we were doing that like.
- 53:03The problem is the problem is half the country at the time was
- 53:05apathetic and didn't want either.
- 53:07And so they just chose to stay home.
- 53:09And that's why that's why you got what you got.
- 53:11It's like that. That's why they teach you that,
- 53:13that, you know, I mean, I it sucks to pick the sucks to pick
- 53:17the lesser of two evils in your mind, I guess, but you damn
- 53:20right. Do you know, you're like, OK,
- 53:22I'm going to pick this one because I don't want that one.
- 53:24Even if you just disagreed with that, that, that situation.
- 53:28So it's like, and then and then I'm always blown away by.
- 53:31And, you know, I didn't vote till later in life.
- 53:33So I understand. I'm always blown away by how
- 53:36many people don't vote. Like, yeah.
- 53:38That agitates me so much. And like, the American Idol gets
- 53:44more votes than people. It's like other countries do not
- 53:48have this type of democracy and freedom.
- 53:51Like, it just should be a thing that you vote.
- 53:54It should be a holiday. Like we should get the day off.
- 53:57You should go vote. Well, now, well, now they want
- 54:00to pull tax. I mean, now they want they want
- 54:03they want to pay 160 bucks, 160 bucks that you can, that you can
- 54:07vote and that's great. Again I'm I'm highly all hog
- 54:10shit which a lot. Of people don't have a passport,
- 54:13a lot of people don't have a driver's license or can afford
- 54:16those kinds of things. Well, they're not American.
- 54:19They're not American no matter what.
- 54:21I'll never vote for their guy anyway.
- 54:23So it's like, so I'm I, if I need to roll up with my birth
- 54:26certificate and my passport, my driver's license, mother
- 54:29humpers, I plan on doing it. And guess what?
- 54:31I'm still still not voting for your guy.
- 54:33You, it's going to be women. We're the ones in that save act
- 54:37whatever they're trying to get past right now that because if,
- 54:40especially if we take our husband's last name when we get
- 54:43here, it's really going to like affect all of us.
- 54:46I'm like, what the hell? This is some shit.
- 54:49Like you're just trying to keep women from voting is what you're
- 54:52trying to do. Yeah, no, it's all, it's all a
- 54:55bunch of hard crap. So it'll be interesting to see
- 54:58the State of the Union, or at least pieces of the State of the
- 55:01Union. So God, God Bless America.
- 55:05That's it for today's episode of Rick and That Michelle J, thanks
- 55:09for hanging out with us. If you laughed, rolled your
- 55:12eyes, or question our sanity even once, make sure you hit
