- 0:01Hey. Everybody, welcome to the good
- 0:03morning from the Chicken Coop podcast.
- 0:05My name is Kim Johnson and I am a mastermindset coach, creative
- 0:08strategist and also happened. To be.
- 0:10A farmer. This is my chicken coop and I
- 0:12come out here. Every day to record a podcast
- 0:15to. Teach distinctions,
- 0:17possibilities, new ways of. Thinking.
- 0:19And just bring some. Joy into the world.
- 0:21So welcome to the coop and let's start your day off in a
- 0:24fantastic way. Hey, good morning my friends.
- 0:29So I have a question for you. Have you ever had a bee land on
- 0:33you and you freak out about it? I think, I think we've all done
- 0:36that. I've done that at some point in
- 0:37my life. I freaked out on it.
- 0:39But have you ever had a bee land on you and stopped and said,
- 0:44wow, he's so confused. He thinks I'm a flower.
- 0:46Have you ever done that? Well, that question is the
- 0:50question of the day. Do you see the problem or do you
- 0:54see the possibility? Do you see something different?
- 0:57And this is such a great little metaphor that I love to go to.
- 1:00Am I going to think I'm the flower or am I going to think
- 1:02I'm the problem? Now, I'm not talking about being
- 1:05unrealistic. Like if you're the problem and
- 1:07you did something bad, you need to apologize for it.
- 1:09You need to apologize for it. That's not what we're talking
- 1:12about. We're talking about the general
- 1:13line of thinking that goes off in our head on a normal day.
- 1:17Because we all know boy, that is a steady stream of crap that we
- 1:24throw at ourselves and non-stop about how much we've got to get
- 1:28done. What I mean just for an example,
- 1:30I gave someone an assignment 2 days ago.
- 1:33I said do a brain dump. She's leaving to go on a
- 1:35vacation. And I said to her before you go,
- 1:38do yourself a favor, brain dump everything that is in your head
- 1:43out on a piece of paper so that you don't take it on vacation
- 1:46with you. And try to remember, oh, I have
- 1:48to think about that, or oh, I have to think about this.
- 1:50And she said, that's a good idea.
- 1:52I said, well, have you written any of these down anywhere else?
- 1:54She was on numerous pads on pieces of post it notes there.
- 1:59It's everywhere. I said, alright, let's
- 2:01consolidate before you go tarot pages, make one list.
- 2:05No more stickies. Throw it all away.
- 2:07Get it in one spot. And this is a very typical
- 2:10assignment that I give people. And you'd be surprised.
- 2:13Even the people that work with me the longest still don't get
- 2:16the the point of putting everything in one place so that
- 2:19you don't have to go look for it.
- 2:21Now that's just a little side note lesson in what we're
- 2:24talking about today. So in the process of changing
- 2:27your mind and thinking, oh, wait, the possibilities are
- 2:30maybe he thinks I'm a flower instead of thinking the worst
- 2:33thing we're when you do the brain dump and you get it out of
- 2:36your head. You have the option to think,
- 2:39wow, it's out of my head. But then you also have the
- 2:42option to go crap. That is a lot.
- 2:44That is a lot that I just dumped on here and I feel gross or oh,
- 2:49this just exhausts me looking at it, or damn, I let a lot of this
- 2:53get out of control. Two things can be true at the
- 2:56same time. You've heard me say that before,
- 2:59but in possibility thinking you can go, all right, thank God
- 3:03that's out of my head on paper. I'll deal with it later.
- 3:07And don't be mad at yourself or overwhelmed by what's there
- 3:10because you, you are already in that state of not having it all
- 3:15done. So it doesn't matter.
- 3:16And you were surviving up until that point.
- 3:18Like seriously, stop and think about it up until that moment.
- 3:21You were surviving that list of unknowns that were floating
- 3:25around on random pieces of paper throughout your life and they
- 3:28were right there and you survived it.
- 3:31And we can't, I, I can't say if you were thriving or not.
- 3:34Only you can decide if you were thriving or not.
- 3:36I, we know you were alive if you were writing notes and you were
- 3:39putting things on them. But thriving is a different
- 3:41story. And this is about looking at
- 3:45things through the lens of possibility.
- 3:47This is about deciding, did the bee think, you know, was I
- 3:51afraid of the bee? Or did I choose possibility and
- 3:55think that the bee thought I was a flower?
- 3:57And it may sound silly, but it's a cool little metaphor to kind
- 4:00of remember. And when you enter into your day
- 4:03and you start going through things and you you're going
- 4:07through the list that's running in your mind, please don't keep
- 4:11it there. Please put it on a piece of
- 4:12paper. Please do something else with it
- 4:14because if what could what continuously makes the loop run
- 4:19is when it feels like it needs fuel.
- 4:21And when it feels like it needs fuel, it's going to go back to
- 4:24all the things that you haven't done to quote UN quote help you
- 4:28by reminding you you didn't take care of this, you didn't take
- 4:31care of this. And that causes the problem.
- 4:34So if it's on paper, on some finite level, you have taken
- 4:40care of it. It's on the paper first.
- 4:42Like I got it out of my head. It's on the paper and in my head
- 4:45that is capable of looping at a bazillion miles an hour.
- 4:49This is a saving grace. This is what I do.
- 4:52I put things out there so I don't have to think about them.
- 4:55And when I say it, I mean, you probably heard me say it before.
- 4:59I keep an 11 by 17 sheet of paper.
- 5:01I am old school. I don't just want it in my
- 5:03electronics. I use my electronics, but when
- 5:06it comes to keeping my lists, I need paper and pen.
- 5:11OK, I need paper and pen and I have electronic notebooks that.
- 5:14I have an electronic notebook file for every single one of my
- 5:17clients. But guess what?
- 5:19When it comes to what I need to do, it's on paper and it's with
- 5:22pen and it's 11 by 17 divided out into 7 columns for the week.
- 5:28And every week I will put the date at the top and then I start
- 5:32dumping out my list for the week.
- 5:35So and when things come up, I just run over and add it in.
- 5:38I don't try to hold it in my head because that's not making
- 5:41me become, oh, I'm the flower. No, no, no, that's, that's me
- 5:47going. So think about that.
- 5:51Are you going? What's the possibility thinking
- 5:53going to be today? Is the possibility thinking
- 5:55going to be that I am the bee who is confused and thought you
- 6:00were a flower? Or am I going to be afraid of
- 6:02the bee? What's it going to be?
- 6:04All right, my friends, I hope you have a blessed day and I'll
- 6:06see you tomorrow. Bye.
