Transcript
- 0:06Speaker 1: We have a confession to make. We have seen tonight's
- 0:08Speaker 1: Parental Guidance episode even though you haven't. It comes out
- 0:12Speaker 1: tonight on Channel nine and nine now at seven point
- 0:15Speaker 1: thirty and I think it's the best one so far.
- 0:20Speaker 2: This is jam packed. I don't know how we're going
- 0:23Speaker 2: to get through our conversations this week. There is so
- 0:26Speaker 2: much to talk about.
- 0:27Speaker 1: Hello, Welcome to the Happy Families Podcast, Real Parenting Solutions
- 0:30Speaker 1: every day on Australia's most downloaded parenting podcast. We are
- 0:32Speaker 1: Justin and Kylie Coulson. Kylie, you say jam packed. Let's
- 0:38Speaker 1: just do a taste of what's coming up. We've got
- 0:39Speaker 1: to be careful about what we say because we don't
- 0:41Speaker 1: want to do any spoil No spoilers allowed next time.
- 0:45Speaker 2: Four new parenting styles are having the hard conversations Australia
- 0:49Speaker 2: needs to have about forty in each.
- 0:52Speaker 1: Killers and botok is the norm these days. We confront
- 0:55Speaker 1: to generations worrying obsession at school needs to be on
- 1:00Speaker 1: the walls about mummy's leg. This is, for me, an
- 1:04Speaker 1: area that requires immediate intervention and we are parents with
- 1:08Speaker 1: the tools to navigate their way through.
- 1:12Speaker 2: Go guys, I think you look pretty good for you.
- 1:16Speaker 1: H If I want my children to believe that they
- 1:18Speaker 1: are perfect, then I need to reflect that in my behavior.
- 1:22Speaker 1: We've got four or five really big challenges and one
- 1:25Speaker 1: of the most heart wrenching, gripping conversations that you will
- 1:29Speaker 1: ever see an experience on TV. When you and I
- 1:33Speaker 1: were watching this ahead of time, we were both reaching
- 1:36Speaker 1: for the tissues and when it happened in the room,
- 1:38Speaker 1: oh my goodness, just there wasn't a dry eye. It's
- 1:42Speaker 1: just and I'm not saying this because I want people
- 1:44Speaker 1: to sort of have this this crying experience, or set
- 1:47Speaker 1: it up so that you've got to see it so
- 1:49Speaker 1: that you can, I don't know, grieve with us and
- 1:51Speaker 1: go through the pain of it all with us. But rather,
- 1:53Speaker 1: it's just such an important conversation. I'm talking in circles.
- 1:56Speaker 1: Nobody knows what I'm talking about. So let me be
- 1:59Speaker 1: a little bit more clear. The topic for tonight body image. Okay,
- 2:03Speaker 1: it's all about appearance and the way we talk about ourselves,
- 2:08Speaker 1: the way our kids talk about ourselves. It's such an
- 2:10Speaker 1: important one and the first challenge literally we ask the
- 2:14Speaker 1: kids how they see themselves. Really insightful, really inspiring, but
- 2:19Speaker 1: it's the second segment that I think is going to
- 2:21Speaker 1: blow people away.
- 2:23Speaker 2: Talking about eating disorders and specifically one girl's fight to live.
- 2:29Speaker 1: Fight against anarexia was intense. It's just a conversation that
- 2:34Speaker 1: you don't see on the television, and tonight in Parental
- 2:37Speaker 1: Guidance Episode three, we unpack it carefully, slowly and in
- 2:44Speaker 1: a way that will make every single parent and child
- 2:47Speaker 1: sit up and pay attention. I just think this is
- 2:49Speaker 1: so important. There's a whole lot more coming up as well.
- 2:53Speaker 1: Let's unpack that in just a second. Okay, so really
- 3:04Speaker 1: really important conversations about body image. In tonight's episode of
- 3:08Speaker 1: Parental Guidance, we find out how fit our families are.
- 3:12Speaker 1: Our focus families hit the field and we assess their fitness.
- 3:16Speaker 1: This is eye opening and the stats around this are compelling.
- 3:20Speaker 1: A couple of other big challenges.
- 3:22Speaker 2: We look at each family's diet and what their daily
- 3:27Speaker 2: intake looks like.
- 3:29Speaker 1: And the last thing that I want to highlight in
- 3:31Speaker 1: our preview episode of the podcast for tonight's episode number
- 3:35Speaker 1: three of Parental Guidance on Channel nine and nine now
- 3:38Speaker 1: is where all go sideways. So we did this little
- 3:40Speaker 1: challenge that we didn't really think much would happen like
- 3:43Speaker 1: it was just it was a conversation about body image
- 3:45Speaker 1: and how our kids see us, and it evolves in
- 3:48Speaker 1: some completely unexpected ways. And this is how we wrap
- 3:53Speaker 1: up the show. This must see TV, Like this is
- 3:57Speaker 1: so what's the word gripping? So compelling as we discover
- 4:02Speaker 1: something about one of our families that has to be addressed,
- 4:06Speaker 1: it's worth staying to the end. If that doesn't whet
- 4:08Speaker 1: your appetite, I don't know what will.
- 4:11Speaker 2: Yeah, but you're saying that like that's the end of
- 4:12Speaker 2: the episode, but there's still more, Like how can you
- 4:16Speaker 2: fit more?
- 4:17Speaker 1: In tonight's episode of Parental Guidance. It's must watch TV.
- 4:21Speaker 1: It's on Channel nine at seven thirty, or you can
- 4:24Speaker 1: stream it via the app nine now. Episode three, Season
- 4:28Speaker 1: three Parental Guidance starring me Yours Truly, Dr Justin Coilson,
- 4:33Speaker 1: and the wonderful Ali langdon make sure you check it
- 4:35Speaker 1: out with your family. It was so much fun. What
- 4:38Speaker 1: was it last week? I think I was doing it
- 4:40Speaker 1: today extra episode with Sylvia Jeffries and she was talking
- 4:44Speaker 1: about how she's watching it and then having conversations with
- 4:47Speaker 1: her mother in law about everything that was on the
- 4:49Speaker 1: show the night before. This is the show that gets
- 4:51Speaker 1: Australia talking. I just love it. I love what we
- 4:53Speaker 1: get to talk about. Thank you so much for joining
- 4:55Speaker 1: us today on the pod. During the rest of the week,
- 4:57Speaker 1: we are going to unpack it in details, so make
- 5:00Speaker 1: sure you join us for every single episode of the
- 5:03Speaker 1: podcast as we talk about the stuff that we couldn't
- 5:06Speaker 1: quite fit into the show because clearly there's a lot
- 5:09Speaker 1: going on. We'll see you tomorrow on the pod. Hopefully
- 5:13Speaker 1: catch it tonight on the Telly. The Happy Families podcast
