- 12:05[SPEAKER_04]: You've had Millie Smith in a few times.
- 12:07[SPEAKER_04]: Today, Millie had a letter to the editor in the water town paper.
- 12:11[SPEAKER_09]: Really?
- 12:11[SPEAKER_04]: And I recently read an article in local media that I found very disturbing.
- 12:17[SPEAKER_04]: It said that the students in New York State, not water town, but the students in New York State, dates great students.
- 12:23[SPEAKER_04]: It gets in the eighth grade that one third of them.
- 12:26[SPEAKER_04]: Uh, cannot read at the, you know, they're below a great level in reading comprehension and reading skills.
- 12:33[SPEAKER_04]: One third of them.
- 12:34[SPEAKER_04]: And that's throughout the state, and I'm thinking, man, I mean, how can you be a great nation?
- 12:40[SPEAKER_04]: How can you make America great again?
- 12:42[SPEAKER_04]: If a third of your population has trouble reading, reading is so basic to, you know, to coping in today's life.
- 12:52[SPEAKER_04]: So I don't know the answers.
- 12:53[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know the reasons.
- 12:55[SPEAKER_04]: And I'm not going to open on any of that.
- 12:57[SPEAKER_04]: I just wanted to bring.
- 12:58[SPEAKER_04]: I will.
- 13:00[SPEAKER_04]: I was quite quite disturbed to learn that that maybe it'll stimulate some conversation.
- 13:06[SPEAKER_04]: Okay.
- 13:07[SPEAKER_09]: Thank you.
- 13:07[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah, I don't know what the reason they're a standardized test scores are so low, but there's no accountability for it.
- 13:17[SPEAKER_09]: I mean, we had low test scores in the water town district and they gave the superintendent a raise and
- 13:22[SPEAKER_09]: You know, there's things that go on.
- 13:26[SPEAKER_09]: I don't know.
- 13:28[SPEAKER_09]: I like it.
- 13:29[SPEAKER_09]: There's a lot of good teachers out there and that kind of stuff.
- 13:33[SPEAKER_09]: I'm not down on teachers.
- 13:37[SPEAKER_09]: But as far as all these test scores and stuff and some people say test scores don't mean I don't know why.
- 13:45[SPEAKER_09]: There are a lot of smart younger people out there.
- 13:48[SPEAKER_09]: I met one this morning.
- 13:49[SPEAKER_09]: I was at the dentist this morning.
- 13:52[SPEAKER_09]: And there was a young lady there, high school senior, I think she wants to be a dentist, and she was in there just to observe.
- 14:03[SPEAKER_09]: So she got to look at me in the chair.
- 14:05[SPEAKER_09]: I don't know how much of a treat that was, but very, very smart young lady, obviously got to go in places, and we wish her well.
- 14:13[SPEAKER_09]: So I mean, there's a lot of good people out there, a lot of good people.
- 14:18[SPEAKER_09]: And this young lady is from Ogden's work of all places, but
- 14:23[SPEAKER_09]: So, you know, it's fine.
- 14:25[SPEAKER_09]: I mean, I hope I hope so a lot of people.
- 14:28[SPEAKER_09]: And a lot of, you know, I've no complaints about the education I got.
- 14:33[SPEAKER_09]: Generally pretty good.
- 14:35[SPEAKER_09]: Hello, we are on the hotline.
- 14:37[SPEAKER_16]: Hey, Mayor, how are you doing today?

- 14:44[SPEAKER_16]: I just so happened to have this conversation with a school teacher that I know.
- 14:48[SPEAKER_16]: She teaches great school here.
- 14:51[SPEAKER_16]: and local district in this area and she was just telling me not long ago just a few days ago that the school system she's in does not allow them to flock anybody they're pushed right out through the system really yeah and uh... you know i'm not sure she's a great teacher but she says that they push the right through the whole right to graduation
- 15:16[SPEAKER_16]: in the kids know what she said when they get a little bit older, they realize it's going on so they don't put any effort into everything.
- 15:23[SPEAKER_09]: Well, I have mixed feelings about that.
- 15:24[SPEAKER_09]: I'm not big on flunking students or they're stigmatized forever.
- 15:29[SPEAKER_09]: You flunked fourth grade and then hold you back and all that.
- 15:32[SPEAKER_09]: I wouldn't say you should probably intercede before you get to that point and get them some kind of enhanced education or something, but I know what you're saying and I do agree with you.
- 15:43[SPEAKER_16]: I remember
- 15:45[SPEAKER_16]: Well, I just wanted to let that gentleman know and you know that what I was told.
- 15:49[SPEAKER_16]: Okay, sounds good.

- 20:23[SPEAKER_09]: Oh, there'd be near a school like that.
- 20:27[SPEAKER_09]: They can't go there anyway.
- 20:30[SPEAKER_09]: Um, in the lady from the substance abuse council was there but, man, that ship is sailed.
- 20:36[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah, it's over.
- 20:39[SPEAKER_09]: Over.
- 20:42[SPEAKER_09]: Um, so I don't know.
- 20:44[SPEAKER_09]: And then I just went on and on and then to say, well, the police say there could be more robberies because these have a lot of places have a lot of cash at them and stuff.
- 20:53[SPEAKER_09]: Well, some places do have cash, some don't.
- 20:57[SPEAKER_09]: But again, and the other discussion was, well, there's some of these out in the county is a really a market.
- 21:04[SPEAKER_09]: It's not your job city council to determine whether it's a market for anything.
- 21:08[SPEAKER_09]: If Kenny wants to put up six new stores in the city, that's their business.
- 21:11[SPEAKER_09]: That's their investment.
- 21:13[SPEAKER_09]: You know, we don't question other business decisions that are made.
- 21:17[SPEAKER_09]: It's very expensive to get in.
- 21:19[SPEAKER_09]: It's not a question of some stoneers.
- 21:20[SPEAKER_09]: They let me open a pot shop.
- 21:23[SPEAKER_09]: It's an expensive thing to get in a lot of regulation.
- 21:25[SPEAKER_09]: You've got to be able to sit.
- 21:27[SPEAKER_09]: You've got to be able to secure a facility and sit on it.
- 21:30[SPEAKER_09]: And then they wanted to dictate whether there was security there.
- 21:34[SPEAKER_09]: which that's part of the state licensing process.
- 21:37[SPEAKER_09]: I couldn't believe what I was listening to.
- 21:39[SPEAKER_09]: And all these other little talents I permeated was just nothing when the law took effect statewide and they said, well, if it happens, it happens.
- 21:47[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah.
- 21:48[SPEAKER_09]: So they put it on hold and they're going to wait and hear from so and so and oh god.
- 21:53[SPEAKER_09]: Here was something.
- 21:58[SPEAKER_09]: And they talked about properties, property maintenance, codes,
- 22:04[SPEAKER_09]: Coats.
- 22:06[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah.
- 22:07[SPEAKER_09]: And it was suggested by Councilman, only we have a raffle and raffle offer, dilapidated house and whoever wins it has to have it fixed up within a year and then they can keep it.
- 22:19[SPEAKER_09]: Wait a minute.
- 22:20[SPEAKER_09]: I'm going to buy a raffle ticket and the prize they win is the right to spend two hundred thousand dollars fixing a house.
- 22:27[SPEAKER_09]: Come on man.
- 22:28[SPEAKER_09]: That was that makes sense.
- 22:30[SPEAKER_09]: Besides that, we got all these rules in this state about raffles and the propriety of it.
- 22:36[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah.
- 22:38[SPEAKER_09]: I don't think that's going to work.
- 22:41[SPEAKER_09]: I want to sell forty thousand twenty dollar tickets to raise eight hundred thousand dollars.
- 22:46[SPEAKER_09]: If people want to donate twenty dollars to the city, they can just put a twenty dollar bill in an envelope and send it to the Comptroller's office.
- 22:54[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah, just do it that way.
- 22:55[SPEAKER_09]: It's easier.
- 22:59[SPEAKER_09]: and they discussed residencies and they discussed residencies and they discussed residencies on and on and on.
- 23:06[SPEAKER_09]: It was all like it.
- 23:07[SPEAKER_09]: Well, we pass over this contract when we signed it, who blew up the contract, nobody seemed to know.
- 23:13[SPEAKER_09]: And you know, it was illegal and nobody seemed to know.
- 23:16[SPEAKER_09]: What about this public officer's law?
- 23:20[SPEAKER_09]: Well, nobody seemed to know.
- 23:22[SPEAKER_09]: And then it got a little testy with the manager.
- 23:26[SPEAKER_09]: I kind of understand that they just kept
- 23:29[SPEAKER_09]: And well, I don't know the public says they want the manager to live in town, but boy, I boy, that Eric does a heck of a job.
- 23:36[SPEAKER_09]: And even the city attorney called him Eric during the meeting.
- 23:42[SPEAKER_09]: I don't know.
- 23:42[SPEAKER_09]: I call him, if he's in the studio, who I call him Mr. Wagner, or I'm on the air.
- 23:46[SPEAKER_09]: I just like I don't call the mayor Sarah, if I'm interviewing or anybody else, but I don't know.
- 23:55[SPEAKER_09]: It's total loss at the court.
- 23:56[SPEAKER_09]: The other couple weeks ago when I saw Sean Hannity called the Attorney General of the United States Pam on the air.
- 24:03[SPEAKER_09]: I said, there ain't no decorum left.
- 24:05[SPEAKER_09]: So why should I expect a city council?
- 24:07[SPEAKER_09]: Anyway, that resulted in not nothing.
- 24:12[SPEAKER_09]: And Cliff only said, everybody should be able to live out the site of the city.
- 24:15[SPEAKER_09]: And even as far as he was talking about the number four road with the city engineer lives, that's the early site allowville.
- 24:26[SPEAKER_09]: I was thinking about Saturday night.
- 24:30[SPEAKER_09]: When that poor woman was killed up in the park, somebody said, well, she died up in the park.
- 24:36[SPEAKER_09]: No, she was killed in an accident.
- 24:39[SPEAKER_09]: He was an accident.
- 24:40[SPEAKER_09]: There's no doubt about nobody wanted that to happen.
- 24:44[SPEAKER_09]: I understand that.
- 24:46[SPEAKER_09]: And in most cases, situations with those speed bumps, you know, if somebody falls over or skins or knee or kid falls over and then grass,
- 24:55[SPEAKER_09]: Nobody even knows about it.
- 24:57[SPEAKER_09]: I did get, you know what I said?
- 24:58[SPEAKER_09]: Also at the dentist this morning, the doctor was telling me about some guy who ran a Harley was up there and came up upon that and didn't assign his, you know, signs not until you get to the bump and it was quite jarring.
- 25:11[SPEAKER_09]: And I've talked to other people who said even at five miles an hour, it's pretty jarring to their vehicle.
- 25:19[SPEAKER_09]: And yet so I said, I got to look at these things again.
- 25:22[SPEAKER_09]: I don't want to be ignorant when I'm on the air.
- 25:27[SPEAKER_09]: So I went up this morning again.
- 25:29[SPEAKER_09]: All three roads.
- 25:29[SPEAKER_09]: I went up all three roads.
- 25:32[SPEAKER_09]: And each road has, now there's crosswalks all over the place, marked with white lines and things, but they don't have bumps.
- 25:41[SPEAKER_09]: But each one of the main roads up there, academy, Franklin and Gotham all have a set of speed bumps.
- 25:53[SPEAKER_09]: And they're protecting a crosswalk that for a pathway that goes across the park, which is fine.
- 26:00[SPEAKER_09]: Out of mind the pathway.
- 26:01[SPEAKER_09]: Out of mind the crosswalk.
- 26:03[SPEAKER_09]: Would see, I said yesterday, I thought, just the white markings and maybe a sign ahead of time.
- 26:09[SPEAKER_09]: Crosswalk ahead would be adequate if you wanted to have one of those solar powered signs that has a couple flashing lights that even better.
- 26:16[SPEAKER_09]: But the bumps, I don't know.
- 26:20[SPEAKER_09]: When you got bicyclists and skateboarders, motorists too.
- 26:25[SPEAKER_09]: And if you want to go above the speed limit, you go over the bump and then you can be up to speed and no time.
- 26:30[SPEAKER_09]: So it's not really doing anything other than precipitating an accident, Saturday evening around five, thirty that killed a sixty-six-year-old woman.
- 26:42[SPEAKER_09]: And the injured her husband.
- 26:47[SPEAKER_09]: So there.
- 26:48[SPEAKER_09]: And then, we get a copy of a memo from Olny, written June twenty to the city manager saying, complaining about the dangers posed and quoting a man in Mr. Rupert from Butterfield Abbott Avenue who had contacted him about this.
- 27:07[SPEAKER_09]: And the Councilman also said it is memo that skateboarders were contacting him about the safety concerns.
- 27:15[SPEAKER_09]: And my understanding is there's other foilable documents in the mix too that speak to that subject from other individuals.
- 27:28[SPEAKER_09]: Now there's going to be a cone of silence that goes on all this now because they're surely scared of a lawsuit.
- 27:36[SPEAKER_09]: He got a sympathetic victim obviously deceased.
- 27:40[SPEAKER_09]: Not speeding because the police said she would they were just coasting down the hill.
- 27:45[SPEAKER_09]: What I heard, they were not wearing helmets because of the heat, so that's maybe a mitigator on the city side.
- 27:52[SPEAKER_09]: But there were no tickets issued, obviously.
- 27:54[SPEAKER_09]: And who would expect you'd come across something like that in the road?
- 28:01[SPEAKER_09]: It's not like a wood chuck running across in front of you or something.
- 28:08[SPEAKER_09]: So, you know, that is a very real possibility
- 28:13[SPEAKER_09]: Now, just because something bad happens in life doesn't mean you're entitled to a payday, a lot of people think that's the case.
- 28:20[SPEAKER_09]: Just because I got my feelings hurt, you're entitled to it.
- 28:22[SPEAKER_09]: No, that's not true.
- 28:24[SPEAKER_09]: But on the other hand, there are instances where something bad happened and, you know, I can crush it.
- 28:34[SPEAKER_09]: I told you yesterday about the other bicycle case back in the late eighties.
- 28:38[SPEAKER_09]: The city paid off on that cop who shot somebody.
- 28:43[SPEAKER_20]: Uh-huh.
- 28:44[SPEAKER_09]: So I mean, there are instances where that happens.
- 28:46[SPEAKER_09]: Generally, the city's motto is, we're self-insured and we'll litigate it.
- 28:51[SPEAKER_09]: And you'll run out of money before we do.
- 28:55[SPEAKER_09]: But, um, I don't know what to say.
- 28:59[SPEAKER_09]: That was my observation this morning.
- 29:01[SPEAKER_09]: I went up and looked at the speed.
- 29:02[SPEAKER_09]: I think they should come out personally.
- 29:05[SPEAKER_09]: As a rounded pebble in the stream of life, but they'll never do it because the administrative state is going to say, well, we're right.
- 29:11[SPEAKER_09]: We're staffed.
- 29:12[SPEAKER_09]: We did this.
- 29:14[SPEAKER_09]: No, they're not right.
- 29:15[SPEAKER_09]: They should come out.
- 29:18[SPEAKER_17]: But after noon you're on the air.
- 29:22[SPEAKER_17]: I was late, but I went up today with my bike.
- 29:24[SPEAKER_17]: I got an XP for it's the brand as a record.
- 29:28[SPEAKER_17]: And I went up there today and I drove over it.
- 29:31[SPEAKER_17]: First one got me.
- 29:32[SPEAKER_17]: I was almost lost control.
- 29:33[SPEAKER_17]: But they're so close together.
- 29:35[SPEAKER_17]: The next one.
- 29:36[SPEAKER_17]: I actually almost fell off the bike, but I made it made it.
- 29:39[SPEAKER_17]: And there's a van up there.
- 29:40[SPEAKER_17]: I'm a pair of sit right now.
- 29:41[SPEAKER_17]: I have a lot of jeans being just shameless.
- 29:43[SPEAKER_17]: But there's a van down there right now with several people and they're filming.
- 29:48[SPEAKER_17]: I don't know if that's something to do with WNY or that's like an insurance agency or the city or what.
- 29:54[SPEAKER_17]: But if anybody's got any information on what they're doing there, they're they're like kind of fighting their filming.
- 29:59[SPEAKER_17]: So I don't know.
- 30:00[SPEAKER_09]: What are they?
- 30:03[SPEAKER_09]: Which bump in the road?
- 30:05[SPEAKER_09]: Where are they?
- 30:05[SPEAKER_09]: Which bump road?
- 30:06[SPEAKER_17]: The ones over by the golf course.
- 30:09[SPEAKER_17]: which I think those are the stupidest ones to have.
- 30:13[SPEAKER_09]: I just don't understand why they put.
- 30:14[SPEAKER_09]: Well, it may be.
- 30:15[SPEAKER_09]: It may be a chat.
- 30:17[SPEAKER_09]: I know Channel seven was doing an interview with Mr. Ruperie.
- 30:20[SPEAKER_09]: The guy who was complained about it.
- 30:21[SPEAKER_09]: And I don't know if they were going to do a like a walking stand up where they stage, you know, one of the reporters going over the bump.
- 30:27[SPEAKER_09]: It could be that.
- 30:28[SPEAKER_09]: But I don't really know.
- 30:30[SPEAKER_17]: I hope that they do do something like that where we can not.
- 30:32[UNKNOWN]: It's a public guy would have done what it would have been on like crazy.
- 30:36[UNKNOWN]: Like fly on, you know what, but anyway,
- 30:38[SPEAKER_09]: All right, thanks a lot right now.
- 30:40[SPEAKER_09]: Good afternoon around the air.
- 30:43[SPEAKER_11]: Hey, man.
- 30:43[SPEAKER_11]: Yeah, I was going to give you a head stuff.
- 30:46[SPEAKER_11]: The buddy might pump it a septic up on took an island.
- 30:50[SPEAKER_11]: They saw the body floating water up there.
- 30:52[SPEAKER_11]: Chopper up there now.
- 30:53[SPEAKER_11]: Coast ahead.
- 30:54[SPEAKER_08]: I'll find picked in.
- 30:56[SPEAKER_11]: He sent me a picture out there, but not too early.
- 30:59[SPEAKER_11]: Yeah, someone flowed up there.
- 31:01[SPEAKER_11]: No, no, what happened?
- 31:02[SPEAKER_11]: No.
- 31:03[SPEAKER_11]: Okay, uh, I thank you.
- 31:07[SPEAKER_09]: I got news.
- 31:08[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah.
- 31:12[SPEAKER_09]: That's how new that's how you get news is sources.
- 31:15[SPEAKER_09]: I remember I learned that early in the news business.
- 31:16[SPEAKER_09]: You know, a good friend Ted Ford would call me.
- 31:19[SPEAKER_09]: He was already retired from broadcast news, but he would call me and you know, if he heard something like that.
- 31:25[SPEAKER_09]: And it was very handy.
- 31:26[SPEAKER_09]: That's, you know,
- 31:28[SPEAKER_09]: Um, but yeah, a body near picked in.
- 31:32[SPEAKER_09]: I don't know.
- 31:32[SPEAKER_09]: I don't know anything about it.
- 31:33[SPEAKER_09]: And we'll wait and see.
- 31:35[SPEAKER_09]: Well, there were a lot of bad things happen.
- 31:37[SPEAKER_09]: There was a motorcycle accident killed the soldier and a somebody who fell in the drink up at Parisville near Potsdam.
- 31:44[SPEAKER_09]: So there were a couple of bad accidents.
- 31:48[SPEAKER_09]: And, um, there you go.
- 31:53[SPEAKER_09]: Well, so I don't know who's filming something up in the park, but if there's anybody up there who knows anything, give us a call.
- 32:00[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah, that thing Saturday must have been, must have been hundreds of people up in that area.
- 32:07[SPEAKER_09]: And if any of them have any observations, they want to give us, feel free.
- 32:12[SPEAKER_09]: Feel free.
- 32:16[SPEAKER_09]: Let's see.
- 32:21[SPEAKER_09]: Got really any,
- 32:24[SPEAKER_09]: Anything at home?
- 32:26[SPEAKER_09]: Where's the call?
- 32:28[SPEAKER_09]: Good afternoon, Ronnier.
- 32:30[SPEAKER_19]: Hey, Mayor.
- 32:31[SPEAKER_19]: A couple of things on the speed bumps.
- 32:32[SPEAKER_19]: I'm glad the speed bumps are up there.
- 32:34[SPEAKER_19]: I've been up there a number of times.
- 32:36[SPEAKER_19]: People come flying through there with their cars, typically car culture type stuff.
- 32:41[SPEAKER_19]: People come up with their civics and whatnot.
- 32:43[SPEAKER_19]: I think it's a good way to slow people down a second thing.
- 32:47[SPEAKER_19]: They're bright yellow.
- 32:48[SPEAKER_19]: They got signs next to them.
- 32:50[SPEAKER_19]: There's no way people can't see that they're there.
- 32:52[SPEAKER_19]: In a certain point, you got to have to use some common sense.
- 32:54[SPEAKER_19]: If you're on a bike or a scooter or a skateboard, you can't expect that it's not going to jar you.
- 33:02[SPEAKER_19]: Everyone knows what a speed bump is and what it does.
- 33:06[SPEAKER_19]: At a certain point, there's got to be some accountability for yourself.
- 33:10[SPEAKER_19]: I feel bad the lady died and that's thanks, but everyone knows what a big bright yellow speed bump does.
- 33:18[SPEAKER_19]: you think they're saving lives I don't know that I mean I just don't see where three of them yeah sure I know I mean I see people come flying up there with their cars mainly in the evening time just to just to goof around and sure you got paint on the crosswalks but for people like that we're looking to go up there and rev up their motors and stuff you need something that's actually going to slow somebody
- 33:44[SPEAKER_09]: Right.
- 33:45[SPEAKER_09]: That may be, I mean, listen, that's going to be the, you know, the, the other viewpoint on this is that accidents happen and bad things happen in life.
- 33:56[SPEAKER_19]: And yeah, exactly.
- 33:58[SPEAKER_19]: I mean, what about like a sewer gray?
- 33:59[SPEAKER_19]: I'll bet you someone hit the sewer gray on an e-bike too fast or a skateboard.
- 34:03[SPEAKER_19]: We're just going to mark all the sewer grades and manhole covers now.
- 34:06[SPEAKER_19]: I mean, at a certain point, you got to just be vigilant and
- 34:12[SPEAKER_19]: be aware of your surroundings and realize that the speed bump, you know, if you're worried about how fast you're going to hit it, get up and get off your bike and walk it over the speed bump if you're worried about it.
- 34:22[SPEAKER_19]: Yeah, I guess the other would be more good than ours.
- 34:25[SPEAKER_09]: Okay.
- 34:25[SPEAKER_09]: Thank you.
- 34:25[SPEAKER_09]: All right.
- 34:27[SPEAKER_09]: Thank you.
- 34:28[SPEAKER_09]: Well, that's another viewpoint.
- 34:29[SPEAKER_09]: No doubt about it.
- 34:30[SPEAKER_09]: And, um, I don't know.
- 34:35[SPEAKER_09]: You know, and again, that shift is shifts to responsibility back on the person who's on two or four wheels or whatever.
- 34:42[SPEAKER_09]: Because once you've got on a vehicle of any kind, you're taking a risk.
- 34:49[SPEAKER_09]: So I don't know.
- 34:50[SPEAKER_09]: We'll see.
- 34:52[SPEAKER_09]: What are you doing here on the air?
- 34:57[SPEAKER_18]: What's up?
- 34:59[SPEAKER_18]: Oh, you'll walk it up in the parking lot.
- 35:02[SPEAKER_18]: I noticed while they were putting in all those speed bumps there.
- 35:05[SPEAKER_18]: They had little cameras with solar power on all of the most of the crosswalks.
- 35:13[SPEAKER_18]: Then, uh, up there Saturdays, they were there.
- 35:15[SPEAKER_18]: And Sunday, when I was there, and I noticed they were out gone.
- 35:19[SPEAKER_18]: So I don't know what's up with that.
- 35:21[SPEAKER_09]: Really?
- 35:22[SPEAKER_20]: I hadn't... They take video or pictures with them.
- 35:25[SPEAKER_09]: You know, I hadn't, uh, wasn't aware of that at all.
- 35:28[SPEAKER_09]: I mean, like video cameras?
- 35:33[SPEAKER_18]: deer cameras, but they had, they had, you know, game trail cameras.
- 35:38[SPEAKER_18]: But they had solar panels connected to them.
- 35:42[SPEAKER_18]: They were attached to all the folks that, you know, that's most of the crosswalks where they put in those speed bumps.
- 35:52[SPEAKER_08]: So, you're suggesting there may be video of this?
- 35:57[SPEAKER_18]: I don't know.
- 35:57[SPEAKER_18]: I don't know.
- 35:58[SPEAKER_18]: I just, I remember seeing all those cameras on all those crosswalks
- 36:02[SPEAKER_18]: They were there Saturday because I was up there in the morning, and then, uh, Sunday when I went back, I noticed they were gone.
- 36:11[UNKNOWN]: So.
- 36:11[SPEAKER_08]: Well, yeah, I don't.
- 36:13[SPEAKER_18]: But, I don't know.
- 36:15[SPEAKER_09]: All right, thank you.
- 36:15[SPEAKER_09]: All right.
- 36:17[SPEAKER_09]: Well, that's an interesting aside.
- 36:19[SPEAKER_09]: I, I don't know.
- 36:20[SPEAKER_09]: I just take the calls as they come and where their camera's up there if some kind, uh, or they license plate readers, what are they?
- 36:30[SPEAKER_09]: We don't know.
- 36:32[SPEAKER_09]: We don't know.
- 36:34[SPEAKER_09]: Good afternoon, you're on the air.
- 36:35[SPEAKER_17]: Yeah, I hate to call back.
- 36:37[UNKNOWN]: Isn't the fair this week?
- 36:38[UNKNOWN]: Are you going to give a plug to the fair?
- 36:40[SPEAKER_09]: I already mentioned it.
- 36:41[SPEAKER_09]: I already mentioned tonight, doesn't it?
- 36:43[SPEAKER_09]: I did mention it.
- 36:43[SPEAKER_09]: Yes.
- 36:45[SPEAKER_09]: The Jefferson and the Lewis County fairs start today.
- 36:49[SPEAKER_09]: Okay.
- 36:50[SPEAKER_09]: All right.
- 36:51[SPEAKER_09]: Thank you.
- 36:52[SPEAKER_09]: We said that earlier.
- 36:53[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah.
- 36:55[SPEAKER_08]: Alrighty.
- 36:56[SPEAKER_08]: Let's take a break here.
- 36:57[SPEAKER_08]: We'll be back with more at a moment.
- 36:59[SPEAKER_14]: just don't say it often enough.
- 37:01[SPEAKER_14]: Thank you for listening to this station that listens to you.
- 37:04[SPEAKER_14]: The news in talk authority.
- 37:06[SPEAKER_14]: WATN AM-Twelve Forty.

- 40:08[SPEAKER_14]: or interesting talk around the clock depend on the news and talk authority WATM-M-Twelfth.
- 40:18[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah, there are some, and like I said, I think I just don't see the reason for the bumps on some crosswalks and not others, but I understand what other people are saying that if people can't handle that, maybe shouldn't be out there, but and also there's other hazards.
- 40:36[SPEAKER_09]: When I was up there this morning,
- 40:39[SPEAKER_09]: sort of pulled over.
- 40:39[SPEAKER_09]: It was one looking at a deer right by the road.
- 40:43[SPEAKER_09]: And, you know, they jump out.
- 40:45[SPEAKER_09]: You're on some bike or scooter or something like that.
- 40:48[SPEAKER_09]: You could get hurt doing that.
- 40:53[SPEAKER_09]: Is that somebody's fault, too?
- 40:56[SPEAKER_09]: No.
- 40:57[SPEAKER_09]: So there's different ways to look at it.
- 41:00[SPEAKER_09]: And nobody's happy about what happened.
- 41:02[SPEAKER_09]: Nobody is happy.
- 41:04[SPEAKER_09]: Nobody.
- 41:06[SPEAKER_09]: Now we got several comments in.
- 41:09[SPEAKER_09]: um... somebody checks in about we had golf gate now we have speed bump but i don't think it's a gate i don't think it's a controversy the um... speed limit in time since twenty part twenty miles an hour maximum that's true uh... just because you're coasting down the hill doesn't mean you're not speeding okay i know i got you on that
- 41:39[SPEAKER_09]: um... somebody says dismiss the manager and go to a strong mayor form of government half the cost you know I'm all for that somebody else says that having both county fairs on the same week is terrible it's about it something from Anthony Velasquez the guy running for city council opining on facebook about residency
- 42:10[SPEAKER_09]: You can go read his Facebook page if you want to read it.
- 42:13[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah, I was going to win that race anyway, four candidates.
- 42:19[SPEAKER_09]: You don't hear much of any of many more since the primary.
- 42:23[SPEAKER_09]: The two right in candidates, I'm thinking Lisa Rosiero is still hoping to get right in votes and Cliff only as well.
- 42:31[SPEAKER_09]: So that's going to take some votes off the table.
- 42:34[SPEAKER_09]: I don't know if they can reach critical mass where they could win or anything.
- 42:40[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah, among the other ones, you got to look at the prospects and, you know, the, what, Garrett Grant was first followed by Monaco.
- 42:51[SPEAKER_09]: Everybody thought Monaco was going to be first, but Garrett Grant's in a strong spot, a lot of Southside support.
- 43:00[SPEAKER_09]: Monaco has, you know, city employees passed in prison who live in town.
- 43:08[SPEAKER_09]: um... dug guys born campaign hard and moved his totals up nicely from two years ago and of course that valaska's lad was kind of a surprise um... getting into fourth place coming you know basically from nowhere so uh... well it looks like the uh... news junkie has posted the
- 43:39[SPEAKER_09]: Oh, no bitch wary of Mrs. Hodge.
- 43:48[SPEAKER_09]: And let's see.
- 43:49[SPEAKER_09]: What do we got going on here?
- 43:55[SPEAKER_09]: Not sure where it is.
- 43:56[SPEAKER_09]: Now we'll try to find it in a minute.
- 44:01[SPEAKER_09]: Oh, you got to hit refresh, is that it?
- 44:08[SPEAKER_09]: Karen McGrane, high, Jade, sixty-six.
- 44:14[SPEAKER_09]: It was unclear yesterday whether she loved the water town or Massachusetts, but says water town.
- 44:23[SPEAKER_09]: And photo over here says loving wife, sister, stepmother, and friend, Karen, touch the lives of many and her creativity, humor, and kind spirit.
- 44:36[SPEAKER_09]: born in nineteen fifty eight in Salem mass okay uh... graduate of George dewey high school continued to education at Salem state university she worked at general electric she had a career there retired after forty one years while uh... that's uh... that's quite a career she married uh... a jeffery lee hodge of water town that's the connection here and they were married for over thirty years
- 45:07[SPEAKER_09]: uh... there's no services at this time uh... she had uh... been an advocate for breast cancer awareness and uh... arrangements are with the reading benoit funeral so there you go and that time news junkie if you want to read it to seven five five twelve forty are for a number if you'd like to give us a call uh...
- 45:36[SPEAKER_09]: Well, I'll put you on the air, talk about whatever you want within the bounds of good taste.
- 45:41[SPEAKER_09]: Okay?
- 45:43[SPEAKER_09]: All righty.
- 45:44[SPEAKER_09]: So, um... Yeah, let's go back over here.
- 45:50[SPEAKER_09]: New junkie and see what he's got.
- 45:56[SPEAKER_09]: County fair is going out.
- 45:57[SPEAKER_09]: All right.
- 45:58[SPEAKER_09]: Well, I mentioned it one more time.
- 45:59[SPEAKER_09]: County fair and water town end the one in Loweville on today.
- 46:09[SPEAKER_07]: Mm-hmm.
- 46:09[SPEAKER_09]: You know, there's a comment that the CM was made aware of the potential issue by a council and only he did nothing even to address it.
- 46:23[SPEAKER_09]: I don't know.
- 46:24[SPEAKER_09]: I mean, you know, those people who defend having him would say, you know, this has had administrative decision and it's beyond the realm of city council to comment on it.
- 46:40[SPEAKER_09]: you can play it two ways.
- 46:43[SPEAKER_09]: Either way, it's a tragedy.
- 46:47[SPEAKER_09]: But if there's any other stories about accidents related to this, you know, with the other hazards up there, like deer and so on, plus the windy roads, I tend to like the signage as light flashing lights on, if they kind of have a solar panel.
- 47:05[SPEAKER_09]: I think goats are good, and there's one's in front of the high school.
- 47:08[SPEAKER_09]: I have the speed on them.
- 47:09[SPEAKER_09]: I think they're good.
- 47:10[SPEAKER_09]: Um, I think they tend to catch your eye more than looking down for a bump in a road.
- 47:19[SPEAKER_09]: You know, if you know the bumps are there like you in a parking lot at your apartment complex, I suppose it's another story.
- 47:27[SPEAKER_09]: But, isn't there, didn't there, City just put a parking bump over in the, you know, the road that goes from the parking lot at the new Y down there.
- 47:38[SPEAKER_09]: kind of that ramp over to court street, I think they put a parking bumper in there.
- 47:42[SPEAKER_09]: I'm told there's somebody at City Hall who likes parking bumpers as methods for traffic coming.
- 47:47[SPEAKER_09]: So if that's the case, we'll probably see more of them.
- 47:51[SPEAKER_09]: Probably see more of them.
- 47:54[SPEAKER_09]: Let's see.
- 47:57[SPEAKER_09]: Somebody wants to know where the city speed trailers are.
- 48:00[SPEAKER_09]: Maybe they should go up there.
- 48:01[SPEAKER_09]: Remember the ones they could drag around and
- 48:05[SPEAKER_09]: You know, again, they're a reminder, they're not a panacea for anything.
- 48:10[SPEAKER_09]: For good people, for people who like, for one in front of the high school, you know, sometimes you just forget, that's a reminder, he's slow down.
- 48:17[SPEAKER_09]: And good people will do that.
- 48:18[SPEAKER_09]: I mean, scuffles don't care.
- 48:23[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah, scuffles don't care.
- 48:26[SPEAKER_09]: We still haven't gotten an answer on this whole, I don't think it's much of an issue.
- 48:31[SPEAKER_09]: In this case, with this whole electric bike issue,
- 48:35[SPEAKER_09]: What the status of those things are.
- 48:37[SPEAKER_09]: I guess they're illegal.
- 48:37[SPEAKER_09]: You can do whatever you want.
- 48:41[SPEAKER_09]: I hope we don't see a lot of them miss a winter.
- 48:43[SPEAKER_09]: They'll really be.
- 48:45[SPEAKER_09]: Really be a hazard then.
- 48:47[SPEAKER_09]: Seven, five, five, twelve, forty are for a number.
- 48:49[SPEAKER_09]: If you'd like to give us a call to be on the show of shows and we can check over the.
- 48:55[SPEAKER_09]: Let's see.
- 48:56[SPEAKER_09]: I didn't.
- 48:57[SPEAKER_09]: It's trying to remember from the city council meeting last night if there was anything else I mean it was.
- 49:02[SPEAKER_09]: Some of it was mind, no, man.
- 49:03[SPEAKER_09]: I mean, the discussion on the Hydro and Mercury, federal energy regulatory commission realized and saying, that's kind of, that was kind of difficult.
- 49:18[SPEAKER_09]: That was kind of difficult.
- 49:22[SPEAKER_09]: Let's see, I don't see too much else that's going on up here.
- 49:29[SPEAKER_09]: But a lot of graduations are over with fairs are going underway.
- 49:36[SPEAKER_09]: All of that stuff.
- 49:37[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah.
- 49:39[SPEAKER_09]: So, seven, five, five, twelve, forty.
- 49:41[SPEAKER_09]: The phone number got about a few minutes left if we want to chime in.
- 49:44[SPEAKER_09]: If not, we'll do a commercial break and be right back.
- 49:53[SPEAKER_14]: get into it and you'll be amazed what you get out of it.
- 49:56[SPEAKER_28]: Ever notice how summer feels different when you're behind the wheel of something better?
- 50:00[SPEAKER_28]: Hi, it's Dave Goldsmith at FX Honda.
- 50:03[SPEAKER_28]: It's summer and around here, that means it's time to trade up.
- 50:06[SPEAKER_28]: Trade up to something nicer.
- 50:08[SPEAKER_28]: I knew Honda CRV with room for the whole crew and mileage that laughs at the gas prices.
- 50:14[SPEAKER_28]: trade up to something taller, maybe a lifted silver auto, ram, or a tundra that puts you eye level with the mountains, or trade up to something faster, like a low mileage Mustang, WRX, or a Civic SI that hits curves like a roller coaster.
- 50:29[SPEAKER_28]: FX Capura Honda has over seven hundred cars and trucks in the lot.
- 50:33[SPEAKER_28]: Not just Honda's, every make, every model, all low mileage, all ready, all summer long.
- 50:40[SPEAKER_28]: We're on Bradley Street in Watertown, right next to I-A-E-E-I-E-I.
- 50:44[SPEAKER_28]: Ask for me, Dave Goldsmith, we'll walk the lot, we'll find your upgrade, and you'll drive off with something that fits you now, not you five years ago.
- 50:53[SPEAKER_28]: FX Capura Honda, trade up, live bigger.
- 50:56[SPEAKER_12]: Northern New York, the summer sale is on at mattress express.
- 51:00[SPEAKER_12]: And this is a big one, folks, kings for the price of a queen, queens for the price of a full, fulls for the price of a twin, starting at just four and ninety nine for these mattresses.
- 51:11[SPEAKER_12]: These are beautiful.

- 51:14[SPEAKER_12]: in the same promotion as well folks.
- 51:17[SPEAKER_12]: Their apetic select match is beautiful.

- 51:25[SPEAKER_12]: No credit check payment plans we do them every day.

- 51:59[SPEAKER_14]: AM-Twelve-Forty.
- 52:03[SPEAKER_14]: Water-tell.
- 52:05[SPEAKER_14]: Depend on it.
- 52:06[SPEAKER_09]: Depend on it, indeed.
- 52:07[SPEAKER_09]: If you'd like to give us a call beyond the area, you can talk about whatever you want within the bounds of good taste.
- 52:13[SPEAKER_09]: Right?
- 52:14[SPEAKER_09]: The bounds of good taste.
- 52:15[SPEAKER_09]: You know what that is.
- 52:18[SPEAKER_09]: And do you see some of the concerns that were raised on cannabis retailers?
- 52:26[SPEAKER_09]: Is that a big issue?
- 52:27[SPEAKER_09]: I just think it's like
- 52:31[SPEAKER_09]: They're licensed by the state of New York.
- 52:33[SPEAKER_09]: If you got the money to play in that league, and open one, it's expensive to open them, then go ahead.
- 52:42[SPEAKER_09]: You know, you're regulated by, I don't know why the city is like so hung up on it because
- 52:51[SPEAKER_09]: I mean, there's a lot of stuff going on.
- 52:53[SPEAKER_09]: They were asking us, I had to laugh.
- 52:55[SPEAKER_09]: They were talking about which parts of the city you could legally grow marijuana for commercial use in.
- 53:00[SPEAKER_09]: Well, I could tell you where it's being done now, but I can't because, well, I just can't.
- 53:07[SPEAKER_09]: Wouldn't be fair.
- 53:07[SPEAKER_09]: And there are nice people who are running.
- 53:09[SPEAKER_09]: I don't want to get anybody in trouble.
- 53:11[SPEAKER_09]: Not that you're getting trouble for any of that in this town.
- 53:13[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah.
- 53:15[SPEAKER_09]: Good afternoon, you're on the air.
- 53:18[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah, go ahead.
- 53:19[SPEAKER_10]: Yeah, a little bit.
- 53:20[SPEAKER_10]: Yeah, I actually had to have my radio done.
- 53:24[SPEAKER_10]: Oh, boy, what do you do?
- 53:25[SPEAKER_10]: Whether it's so much stuff to do around here between the Claire and the Zoom.
- 53:30[SPEAKER_10]: And we're not too far from the day and all that.
- 53:35[SPEAKER_10]: We had what a good time to be to live in the North country, huh?
- 53:41[SPEAKER_09]: It is a good time, yeah.
- 53:43[SPEAKER_10]: Yeah.
- 53:44[SPEAKER_10]: And I want to sing the praises of you ever heard in the circle.
- 53:49[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah, independent, really.
- 53:51[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah, I've heard of it.
- 53:51[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah.
- 53:52[SPEAKER_10]: So, yeah, they do a great job there.
- 53:55[SPEAKER_10]: I'll be right now.
- 53:57[SPEAKER_10]: I've got to get rid of my emotions.
- 53:58[SPEAKER_10]: And I need one that I can get the relationship where I can fly.
- 54:02[SPEAKER_10]: And I need help getting my birth certificate and stuff.
- 54:06[SPEAKER_10]: And if you don't need help, or anything you need a computer for, and you don't have to do that.
- 54:10[SPEAKER_10]: Or if you need any of your body time, anything, they're really great community organization.
- 54:17[SPEAKER_10]: that house people and some of that stuff with computers yeah I was trying to try to pair a litter box to my phone yesterday it was I was having trouble with that I'm that's how simple I am well yeah I'm like pretty much computer a little bit but these people uh... they were how to do with all stuff like that or if it's a homeless people they help people find homes and so to speak better at the homelessness there's uh...
- 54:46[SPEAKER_10]: As a kid in the community, there will be a lot to help.
- 54:49[SPEAKER_20]: Okay.
- 54:49[SPEAKER_10]: But most of them are homeless because they don't want to go to rehab.
- 54:52[SPEAKER_20]: Right.
- 54:53[SPEAKER_10]: But that's another story.
- 54:54[SPEAKER_10]: But I just want to say what is beautiful places is to be.
- 55:02[SPEAKER_10]: And I want to thank no goal for the open the community.
- 55:05[SPEAKER_09]: Okay.
- 55:06[SPEAKER_09]: Sounds good.
- 55:08[SPEAKER_10]: All right.
- 55:08[SPEAKER_10]: Thank you.
- 55:08[SPEAKER_09]: Thank you.
- 55:09[SPEAKER_09]: Have a good day.
- 55:10[SPEAKER_09]: All right.
- 55:10[SPEAKER_09]: Seven, five, five, twelve, forty are phone number.
- 55:12[SPEAKER_09]: If you'd like to give us a call to be on the show of shows today.
- 55:16[SPEAKER_09]: and uh... not much else going on really you're gonna go to the county fair i i i i i i probably won't it's not that i'm against the fair i just you know i've been to many fairs and i remember going like on back when i was i don't know thirteen or fourteen and it was exciting and
- 55:43[SPEAKER_09]: Times have changed a bit, but I'm sure it can still be a lot of fun.
- 55:46[SPEAKER_09]: Good afternoon, you're on the air.
- 55:49[SPEAKER_16]: Hey, Mayor Graham, it's gun nut.
- 55:50[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah, what's up?
- 55:52[SPEAKER_16]: How are you doing?
- 55:53[SPEAKER_09]: Good.
- 55:54[SPEAKER_16]: Good.
- 55:55[SPEAKER_16]: I got to tell you, did you come up with that councilwoman ham and councilman awe?
- 56:02[SPEAKER_16]: Yeah.
- 56:03[SPEAKER_16]: Was that your?
- 56:04[SPEAKER_16]: I mean, you know, that's gold and the staff right there, you know, councilwoman ham and awe.
- 56:12[SPEAKER_16]: I don't know how you did it's a good job you doing a good job.
- 56:16[SPEAKER_16]: I don't know.
- 56:17[SPEAKER_09]: Well, I try to, uh, yeah, I try to be fair to everybody.
- 56:22[SPEAKER_16]: There's a lot of stuff that comes that way.
- 56:24[SPEAKER_16]: I was going to ask it as Danny or SG called in blaming this speed bump on Trump yet.
- 56:31[SPEAKER_09]: No, there's been no effort to link the speed bump to President Trump.
- 56:35[SPEAKER_16]: Not involved in this because I thought his budget cuts made it where they used improper
- 56:42[SPEAKER_16]: asphalt or something which caused all these people to get in a rack.
- 56:46[SPEAKER_16]: I would have blamed Trump.
- 56:48[SPEAKER_16]: It'll come.
- 56:49[SPEAKER_16]: It's another day.
- 56:50[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah.
- 56:52[SPEAKER_16]: Another day.
- 56:52[SPEAKER_16]: Not today.
- 56:53[SPEAKER_16]: Not today.
- 56:54[SPEAKER_09]: It's too fresh today.
- 56:55[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah.
- 56:56[SPEAKER_16]: Yeah.
- 56:57[SPEAKER_16]: We're going to wait a little bit.
- 56:58[SPEAKER_16]: But next week you're going to find out that Trump did this.
- 57:01[SPEAKER_16]: And it's going to be disappointing.
- 57:05[SPEAKER_09]: Exactly.
- 57:08[SPEAKER_16]: You've been up on the river, you've been getting out, or you just get through the summer.
- 57:12[SPEAKER_09]: Well, you know, I get out and about a bit, you know, I haven't been up to the river too much, but I was fortunate enough to spend a lot of time there when I was younger, so I've seen it.
- 57:24[SPEAKER_16]: That's me.
- 57:25[SPEAKER_16]: That's me.
- 57:25[SPEAKER_16]: I loved it up there for many years, and I don't get up as much as I used to be.
- 57:30[SPEAKER_16]: But keep up the good writing.
