- 0:00Speaker 1: Well, one minute late. Huh. I knew you're gonna say something.
- 0:05Speaker 1: I knew that's that's how you're doing it. Now. I've
- 0:09Speaker 1: never been anything but five minutes early. I knew you're
- 0:11Speaker 1: gonna say something. Shit, one minute late, and you got
- 0:14Speaker 1: a hat on and everything. Look at you. You You got
- 0:16Speaker 1: a little scully on. Don't you find this? Weather in
- 0:18Speaker 1: La is like if you stand in one spot, it's hot,
- 0:21Speaker 1: and if you stand in another spot, it's cold. Isn't
- 0:24Speaker 1: that called um global warming? No, it's probably called fall
- 0:29Speaker 1: in La because in the sun you could wear a
- 0:31Speaker 1: bathing suit and then in the shadows I need my hat.
- 0:34Speaker 1: Isn't that called global warming? Yo? It's voting day. This
- 0:39Speaker 1: is fucking election day, everybody. It's it's a holy yeah.
- 0:44Speaker 1: First of all, you voted already, obviously, Yes, of course
- 0:48Speaker 1: I went and dropped it off in the ballot box
- 0:51Speaker 1: in West Hollywood. I did. I did so myself, not
- 0:54Speaker 1: in West Hollywood, but uh, in my neighborhood. I'm really
- 1:00Speaker 1: excited about the turnout so far, Yes I am. I
- 1:06Speaker 1: You know, you guys aren't going to hear this until
- 1:08Speaker 1: what what what what? When it is election. It'll be
- 1:11Speaker 1: Tuesday Tuesday. We need to be encouraging people who haven't
- 1:15Speaker 1: done it to do it. That's why we're here, not
- 1:17Speaker 1: only Scrubs podcast. We're here to tell you to vote. No, No,
- 1:20Speaker 1: that's not why we're here, all right, but not only
- 1:23Speaker 1: but not only that. Tonight for all of you who've
- 1:26Speaker 1: gone out and voted already, you get to watch television
- 1:29Speaker 1: and watch the election. And this probably is gonna be
- 1:32Speaker 1: like they're taking bets on this election. This is the
- 1:35Speaker 1: most anyone has ever put money down on. But we
- 1:39Speaker 1: need to warn people as a public service announcement, right,
- 1:42Speaker 1: Daniel and Joel, that we may not know these results
- 1:46Speaker 1: on Tuesday. Trump is very very, very very committed to
- 1:49Speaker 1: saying we need to know the results that night. That's bullshit.
- 1:52Speaker 1: Because of the incredible surge of mail and voting. Uh,
- 1:57Speaker 1: some some states aren't even allowed to start counting until
- 2:00Speaker 1: the day of. So everyone needs to be prepared and
- 2:04Speaker 1: prepare their friends that this might not be the typical
- 2:07Speaker 1: situation where we know the result of that night tonight. Sorry,
- 2:11Speaker 1: I have to speak like work like it's Tuesday. Probably
- 2:15Speaker 1: closer to two thousand when we had the whole like
- 2:17Speaker 1: hanging Chad Florida votes kind of thing happening. It will
- 2:20Speaker 1: be a similar situation to that where probably a week
- 2:23Speaker 1: or so after we'll have a final we really Florida,
- 2:26Speaker 1: Florida once again. Florida once again is the biggest. Whoever
- 2:32Speaker 1: wins Florida is probably gonna win this election once again,
- 2:36Speaker 1: and Ohio too, probably, But Pennsylvania once again, Pennsylvania is
- 2:40Speaker 1: really the one Pennsylvania, and I'm the surprise. I think
- 2:44Speaker 1: there is a little Texas talk about Texas flipping, which
- 2:46Speaker 1: would Texas all of a sudden too, That would be amazing, right,
- 2:49Speaker 1: that feels like, but there is talk of Texas flipping.
- 2:52Speaker 1: More people voted this year in Texas already then they
- 2:56Speaker 1: voted in two and then four years ago, right in
- 2:58Speaker 1: two thousand and six. Are here's your public service announcement
- 3:04Speaker 1: from your good friends at Fake Doctor's real friends. If
- 3:07Speaker 1: you're listening to this and you haven't voted yet, we're
- 3:10Speaker 1: begging you. We're down on our knees. Please go vote, yes, participate,
- 3:16Speaker 1: Please pease. I just want you listen. I just want
- 3:19Speaker 1: you to speak your mind. You know I'm not the
- 3:22Speaker 1: one that's gonna sit here and tell you who to
- 3:24Speaker 1: vote for. Just go out there, speak your mind, make
- 3:28Speaker 1: your voice heard. I just want to say, um, please,
- 3:31Speaker 1: please please vote. I am on my knees. What's that song?
- 3:34Speaker 1: I'll get down on my knees kiss the ground that
- 3:36Speaker 1: you walk on. Baby. I just know I'm down on
- 3:40Speaker 1: my knees, begging you please, baby, come back above, let
- 3:47Speaker 1: you go, and a feeling of love if uninity won't
- 3:53Speaker 1: hurt anymore. Don't want to believe I love Whatever the
- 3:58Speaker 1: fuck he said? Cool, I'm down on my knees. I'm
- 4:03Speaker 1: begging you please come home. Can we go back to
- 4:08Speaker 1: the days loss gone? You see how I modulated? Can
- 4:13Speaker 1: you tell you don't know who the fuck you? What? Wait?
- 4:16Speaker 1: What I don't know? I'm sorry, don't judge me. What
- 4:22Speaker 1: is Brian mcnight? Oh my god, the fact that you
- 4:26Speaker 1: know who Brian McKnight is already, Thank goodness. But no
- 4:29Speaker 1: wrong black person, wrong soul singer. I don't know who
- 4:33Speaker 1: it is. It's Boys to Man, all right, Calm down, dude,
- 4:37Speaker 1: I'm sorry. I don't know Boys to Man. I only
- 4:39Speaker 1: know it's the end of the wrong. That's what I
- 4:42Speaker 1: was just singing you more. Oh well, I only know
- 4:44Speaker 1: the fucking chorus. Dick fuck, Oh my god cock soake,
- 4:51Speaker 1: cock soake. That's not a diss Yeah it is. I
- 4:54Speaker 1: like making up new disses for you. Um, anyway, so
- 4:57Speaker 1: please vote. We're begging you. We're begging you. We're begging you.
- 5:00Speaker 1: Somebody just heard my phone ring and my phone was
- 5:02Speaker 1: so loud on my headphones. I'm sure you heard. Dude.
- 5:04Speaker 1: Don't don't no, no, don do no, no, don't don't
- 5:07Speaker 1: we don't. And then also, um please uh. The other
- 5:10Speaker 1: public service announcement is prepare your friends in the community
- 5:14Speaker 1: that tonight might not be the ninth that you know,
- 5:17Speaker 1: and don't let don't let anyone tell you differently because
- 5:20Speaker 1: of the obscene amount of ballots they're gonna have to
- 5:23Speaker 1: count well, not just not just that. Also, if it
- 5:27Speaker 1: doesn't go your way, please don't fucking go crazy. And yeah,
- 5:31Speaker 1: please don't loose, please don't please please don't start a
- 5:34Speaker 1: civil war. Please please please, let's let's not have a
- 5:37Speaker 1: civil war America. Yeah, please don't make that be. Please
- 5:42Speaker 1: don't make that be what happens. I have a friend
- 5:44Speaker 1: who left the country. He's like, fuck this, I'll see
- 5:46Speaker 1: what happens. Then that was one way to go. M Hey, um,
- 5:53Speaker 1: let's talk about Baby Yoda, because that was supposed to
- 5:55Speaker 1: be your surprise. Now as you were, some of you
- 5:59Speaker 1: will recall all I told Donald that I arranged for
- 6:02Speaker 1: him to get a very special present. The plan was
- 6:06Speaker 1: for him to open it live on the air. He
- 6:09Speaker 1: doesn't open it live on the air. He opens it,
- 6:11Speaker 1: he posts about it, doesn't even text me, doesn't even say, like, dude,
- 6:15Speaker 1: how dope is this thanking up? It didn't say it
- 6:18Speaker 1: was from you. It said Sideshow Collectibles. Yeah, well, Sideshow
- 6:21Speaker 1: Collectibles hooked it up because of me. It didn't say yo,
- 6:24Speaker 1: because of Zach, You're getting this Baby Yoda, Donald Fazon.
- 6:30Speaker 1: I thought Sideshow was just looking out because they know
- 6:32Speaker 1: I love Star Wars no Za. I'm gonna take this
- 6:35Speaker 1: moment on fake Doctor's real friends to shout out a
- 6:40Speaker 1: best friend of mine. He always, he always, he always
- 6:46Speaker 1: looks out for a brother, gets me toys, Ye buys
- 6:51Speaker 1: me toys. We collaborate together, loves you and loves me,
- 6:58Speaker 1: sends you funny gifts, sends me funny gifts as well.
- 7:02Speaker 1: And Seth Green, thank you so much? Why Seth Green?
- 7:07Speaker 1: Because he does that? Oh wait wait wait wait, my
- 7:13Speaker 1: bat my bat well, that was not that funny day
- 7:18Speaker 1: and B I'm sliding this tear over. Okay, hold up,
- 7:26Speaker 1: let me keep it one hundred zack. Thank you very
- 7:27Speaker 1: much that I really appreciate it. It's actually something that
- 7:31Speaker 1: is sitting in my um, in my uh room, where
- 7:36Speaker 1: I watched The Mandalorian four times already. You've already watched
- 7:41Speaker 1: it four times. It came out today. It came out today, well,
- 7:45Speaker 1: it came out when it came out. This is supposed
- 7:47Speaker 1: to be election day, but where we record this on Friday?
- 7:51Speaker 1: And okay, we came out on Friday anyway, And I, uh,
- 7:55Speaker 1: did you I haven't seen it, so no spoilers, but
- 7:57Speaker 1: did you like it? Oh? It's so fucking Oh excuse
- 8:01Speaker 1: my language, George Lucas and uh JJ from here on out,
- 8:07Speaker 1: from here on out, when I talk about Star Wars,
- 8:09Speaker 1: I'm trying my hardest not to curse. Okay, I'm gonna respect.
- 8:14Speaker 1: I'm gonna respect uh star Wars so much that I'm
- 8:17Speaker 1: gonna curb my uh language when talking about Star Wars.
- 8:23Speaker 1: But it's so amazing, dude, it is so it was Listen.
- 8:26Speaker 1: I I enjoyed it so much, and a friend of
- 8:29Speaker 1: mine's in it, and it was just it was just
- 8:31Speaker 1: something that I, you know, somebody who I played basketball
- 8:35Speaker 1: against and somebody who I played, you know, on the
- 8:37Speaker 1: same team, and also you know, celebrity All Star games
- 8:40Speaker 1: and stuff like that is on the Mandalorian uh in
- 8:44Speaker 1: this episode and has some iconic stuff going on with
- 8:48Speaker 1: him and I just it was just really awesome to
- 8:51Speaker 1: see and I watched it twice. I loved it about
- 8:56Speaker 1: It was really good. It's so much more improved. It
- 9:00Speaker 1: proves a lot on season one. I think they learned
- 9:02Speaker 1: a lot from how they shot it. I feel like
- 9:04Speaker 1: there's a lot more depth. I thought the Western aspects
- 9:07Speaker 1: of its sword and there's like the way that they
- 9:11Speaker 1: bring up small things in the background of the movies
- 9:14Speaker 1: and the center of the show is just like it
- 9:18Speaker 1: just fills your Star Wars heart with love. It's so good. Yeah,
- 9:21Speaker 1: An you see it yet? Uh No, I have not
- 9:24Speaker 1: watched it yet. I think I have to wait for
- 9:25Speaker 1: my girlfriend. She's she's out of town, but back tomorrow.
- 9:29Speaker 1: I'm pretty sure I have to wait because you know,
- 9:33Speaker 1: I don't know how it is with you and your wife.
- 9:34Speaker 1: I wait, I didn't wait from my wife. There are
- 9:37Speaker 1: shows that we get in. We have to wait or
- 9:41Speaker 1: we um have you know she you know, we share it.
- 9:45Speaker 1: She loves it too, so we watch it together. Have
- 9:46Speaker 1: you started watching a bachelor yet? You know what I
- 9:48Speaker 1: have to do? I give this. I watched that ship.
- 9:52Speaker 1: You don't watch the Bachelor, Okay, I mean I I well,
- 9:56Speaker 1: this is the one that's the Bachelorette right now, right, Yeah,
- 10:00Speaker 1: I didn't. I watched like episode, the first episode, and
- 10:03Speaker 1: I was like, this is so stupid. Why am I
- 10:04Speaker 1: watching this? Oh? Yeah, god? You know why? Sure this candy.
- 10:08Speaker 1: You watch it with your wife, and you watch it
- 10:10Speaker 1: because that's something you watch with your wife. Daniel. It's
- 10:13Speaker 1: so tasty. It's so tasty. It's so tasty, just like
- 10:18Speaker 1: you're just sour head kids. Oh my god, it's like
- 10:21Speaker 1: you're it's like you're going to see a Marvel movie
- 10:23Speaker 1: and you've got all of the freaking candy in your lap.
- 10:28Speaker 1: It's the Marvel movie for drama. Oh my god. Just
- 10:31Speaker 1: like I don't like it. I don't like the ones
- 10:34Speaker 1: where it's men competing. It's the best. It's to see
- 10:38Speaker 1: how petty men can be. I think that women fighting
- 10:41Speaker 1: way more energy. No, my brother, no, but that's like
- 10:44Speaker 1: that's like freaking U stereotypical you you you you. That's
- 10:48Speaker 1: what I rather watch a bunch of women aren't you
- 10:51Speaker 1: than I watch a bunch of men aren't you. I'm sorry, No,
- 10:53Speaker 1: it's way funnier to watch men try to stay in
- 10:56Speaker 1: between the lines of not getting punched in the face
- 10:59Speaker 1: and still trying to insult somebody. I saw the funniest thing.
- 11:04Speaker 1: Seemed in love with the black guy, who's the first
- 11:06Speaker 1: guy she met. It was like, oh, it seems like
- 11:08Speaker 1: it's over. She was just like, drop jog, it is.
- 11:11Speaker 1: It is over. A new bachelorretto beyond, a new bachelorettell beyond,
- 11:14Speaker 1: and the two of them run off together from the
- 11:16Speaker 1: middle of the ship in the middle of the show
- 11:19Speaker 1: the third episode. In the third episode, Disney ABC, ABC,
- 11:25Speaker 1: You're welcome for this, for this, for this, Yeah, yeah,
- 11:28Speaker 1: you're well shameless, shameless. So some people might be upsetp
- 11:33Speaker 1: by Spullers, but I don't give a fuck you're telling
- 11:34Speaker 1: me she picks black guy like three episodes in and
- 11:37Speaker 1: then change the person out. It is they change the
- 11:41Speaker 1: bachelortte and and and and some of the dudes like
- 11:44Speaker 1: and you see like especially after like all of the
- 11:46Speaker 1: me too stuff has happened, and you start to realize,
- 11:49Speaker 1: you start to recognize as a man some of the
- 11:52Speaker 1: things that aren't acceptable anymore, and how men talk to
- 11:55Speaker 1: women and how all of that happens and stuff like that.
- 11:58Speaker 1: You really see some well, at least one dude just
- 12:01Speaker 1: go into like a tirade where it's like, dude, your
- 12:04Speaker 1: power move. You're trying to pull a power move on
- 12:07Speaker 1: this on this young lady and that is totally whack.
- 12:10Speaker 1: And then then she flips it and she's pulling power
- 12:13Speaker 1: moves on these dudes just for this one dude, just
- 12:16Speaker 1: for this one guy. Man, it's like, it's it's it's
- 12:19Speaker 1: it's I. I I when it came walking about the
- 12:21Speaker 1: Bachelor at Yeah, dude, when it came on. When it
- 12:27Speaker 1: came on, I told my wife I'll be in the
- 12:30Speaker 1: other room, please don't bother me. I went to the
- 12:33Speaker 1: fridge to get like some like some uh gts kimbucha. Yeah,
- 12:40Speaker 1: and uh as I'm grabbing the kimbucha. Within seconds, I
- 12:44Speaker 1: was already making my way towards the couch, asking what
- 12:50Speaker 1: it's like. It's it's the only thing that you and
- 12:53Speaker 1: your wife watch together. Yeah, because she's into all of
- 12:56Speaker 1: that freaking you know, forty eight hours and you know,
- 12:59Speaker 1: I murder what about sports? So she watched the sports
- 13:02Speaker 1: with you. Yeah, she you know, she's one that got
- 13:05Speaker 1: me into football. I wasn't really into football unless the
- 13:08Speaker 1: Giants were involved, you know, when I was a kid
- 13:10Speaker 1: and I became a grown man and met my wife
- 13:13Speaker 1: at you know, thirty something years old in my early thirties,
- 13:17Speaker 1: and she took me to my first football game ever.
- 13:20Speaker 1: And she took me to see a New York team
- 13:22Speaker 1: play her hometown team. And it was like and we
- 13:26Speaker 1: sat in the box of the quarterbacks and shit like that.
- 13:29Speaker 1: It was like, yeah, well, you know, her best friend
- 13:33Speaker 1: was dating the quarterback on the Dallas Cowboys at the time. Yea,
- 13:36Speaker 1: or they were about or they were about to date.
- 13:38Speaker 1: But anyway, it was one of the and it was
- 13:41Speaker 1: Thanksgiving and it was like my first time not really
- 13:44Speaker 1: flying home, and you know, I didn't. I was divorced
- 13:47Speaker 1: from my ex wife, God rest her soul, and so
- 13:51Speaker 1: I'm not going over to their house and spending Thanksgiving
- 13:53Speaker 1: with my kids. And she took me to Dallas for
- 13:57Speaker 1: my first time really in Dallas to a football game.
- 14:01Speaker 1: And this was very early in our relationship, and I
- 14:03Speaker 1: got to hang out with you know, the quarterback of
- 14:06Speaker 1: the Dallas Cowboys and other players. It was really cool.
- 14:11Speaker 1: And she got me into football and now I know
- 14:14Speaker 1: more about football than she does. All right, should be
- 14:16Speaker 1: getting the show down, and why don't you count us
- 14:18Speaker 1: into some fun, fun fun programming with our favorite numbers
- 14:23Speaker 1: five six, seven, eight stories about show we made about
- 14:29Speaker 1: a bunch of doctor nurses and stories. So data around here,
- 14:40Speaker 1: yeat around here, A welcome to the program everybody. We
- 14:49Speaker 1: are so appreciative that you listen to this. We are
- 14:52Speaker 1: so appreciative of you liking just sitting around chatting with
- 14:57Speaker 1: us all. We love doing it for you. And uh
- 15:00Speaker 1: and Donald is going to summarize the show as he
- 15:03Speaker 1: often does. Often takes some roughly thirty seven seconds. We
- 15:08Speaker 1: never know what's going to happen. Okay, so this one,
- 15:11Speaker 1: with this one, I had to I watched the show
- 15:13Speaker 1: earlier and then I went out and did my daily
- 15:16Speaker 1: stuff and came back. And now that I look at
- 15:19Speaker 1: my notes, I like what I wrote, but I feel
- 15:22Speaker 1: like I missed a couple of things. So there might
- 15:24Speaker 1: be a little bit of ad libbing in this too. All. Okay,
- 15:26Speaker 1: So this is exciting for fans. Donald may Riff, he
- 15:30Speaker 1: may um. What do you call when a rapper just
- 15:33Speaker 1: a freestyle? Well this is well yeah, because it's not
- 15:36Speaker 1: off the top, so there is a bit of freestyle
- 15:38Speaker 1: in it, like my freestyle. As you are spinning some bars,
- 15:43Speaker 1: you may freestyle. That's my dude, right there? Can I
- 15:48Speaker 1: ask decide no questions. When guys are like Eminem, like
- 15:52Speaker 1: spitting freestyle bars, don't you think they have it all
- 15:55Speaker 1: that shit memorized? They're not really, fucking no. But that's
- 15:57Speaker 1: the difference between freestyle and off the top of the head.
- 16:00Speaker 1: So off the top of the head is when it's
- 16:01Speaker 1: completely you're making it up right there at that moment.
- 16:05Speaker 1: Freestyle is when you're giving people, uh bars that you've
- 16:11Speaker 1: written and put together already, uh for free, you know
- 16:15Speaker 1: what I mean, And people get to listen to your stuff.
- 16:18Speaker 1: But that video when Eminem was like in the garage
- 16:21Speaker 1: and he was like no, no, no, no, no, that
- 16:23Speaker 1: was off. That was off the top of the head.
- 16:26Speaker 1: Probably he's you're talking about when he's which one are
- 16:30Speaker 1: you talking about? I don't watch a lot of this,
- 16:32Speaker 1: but I remember, like a few years ago, one or
- 16:34Speaker 1: two years ago, Eminem was like in a parking garage
- 16:37Speaker 1: and all his boys were sitting on a car, right,
- 16:39Speaker 1: and that was that did a big spoof of it. Yeah,
- 16:43Speaker 1: that was a That was a BT Awards. I believe
- 16:45Speaker 1: that was off the top of the head. I believe
- 16:47Speaker 1: that was off at the top of the head. I
- 16:48Speaker 1: feel like when rappers do freestyle, the verse is a
- 16:52Speaker 1: little bit more Daniel. You could correct me if you
- 16:56Speaker 1: believe I'm wrong, but I feel like the verse is
- 16:58Speaker 1: a little bit more polo when it's freestyle. Like so
- 17:01Speaker 1: if somebody goes on the radio and they're like, spit
- 17:03Speaker 1: a couple of bars, and they're like, all right, this
- 17:05Speaker 1: is freestyle. It's just like a bunch of songs that
- 17:08Speaker 1: they put together or a bunch of lines that they
- 17:11Speaker 1: put together just for and it's not necessarily in an order,
- 17:16Speaker 1: but when it's but when it's off the top of
- 17:18Speaker 1: the head, they're just coming in and saying, all right,
- 17:21Speaker 1: I'm not gonna say anything that I've written before, this
- 17:25Speaker 1: is all about right now, you know what I mean.
- 17:28Speaker 1: I wanted to offer a slightly different perspective on the
- 17:31Speaker 1: same idea as a DJ. I would very rarely plan
- 17:35Speaker 1: DJ sets like I would rarely plan this song goes
- 17:38Speaker 1: into this song, goes into this song, goes into this song,
- 17:40Speaker 1: because I've been DJing for a very long time, and
- 17:42Speaker 1: with that in my head already, I have hundreds and
- 17:46Speaker 1: hundreds of one, two, three song combinations that I know
- 17:50Speaker 1: we're going to work well together. So it's freestyle freestyle,
- 17:53Speaker 1: right exactly. So over that set, I may be putting
- 17:56Speaker 1: together a couple of different pieces that I already know
- 17:59Speaker 1: work together in a set that I'm not necessarily planning.
- 18:03Speaker 1: So maybe the order of the songs I've played I've
- 18:05Speaker 1: never ever played before, but it doesn't mean that a
- 18:07Speaker 1: couple of those transitions I don't know very very well.
- 18:10Speaker 1: And I think it's the same thing with freestyle rep.
- 18:12Speaker 1: These guys have, you know, worked with these themes and
- 18:14Speaker 1: motifs and all of this stuff so much that a
- 18:16Speaker 1: lot of those rhymes, a lot of those you know,
- 18:19Speaker 1: lyrical plays are pieces that they've done over and over
- 18:22Speaker 1: and over, maybe not in that order, maybe not on
- 18:25Speaker 1: that topic, but it's a subject, it's a method that
- 18:27Speaker 1: they're very familiar with. So it's kind of you know,
- 18:29Speaker 1: I don't want to say easier, but it's like it's
- 18:32Speaker 1: It's part of the practice, right. I guess I'm just
- 18:36Speaker 1: cynical when people are like supposedly coming up with it,
- 18:39Speaker 1: not like freestyle, just like totally totally, totally fresh, and
- 18:42Speaker 1: I'm like, come on, buddy, Well, well there are some
- 18:46Speaker 1: people that do have that talent though, there are some
- 18:48Speaker 1: people that you know, to go into a recording booth
- 18:53Speaker 1: and do your verse and do it in one take
- 18:56Speaker 1: is a talent, you know what I mean. That means
- 18:58Speaker 1: you've not only worked on it, but you're so connected
- 19:04Speaker 1: to the beat that you're able to ride the rhythm. Also,
- 19:07Speaker 1: you know that's different. A guy goes in, doesn't he
- 19:10Speaker 1: usually write it out when he goes into the recording booth. Well,
- 19:12Speaker 1: sometimes he writes it at that moment and then goes
- 19:15Speaker 1: in or or as jay Z. Jay Z is one
- 19:17Speaker 1: of the masters of freestyle, a little Wayne, he was
- 19:20Speaker 1: one of the masters of freestyle. But if if you
- 19:23Speaker 1: don't write your rhymes and you just try to think
- 19:25Speaker 1: of it and you're you know, you you think about
- 19:27Speaker 1: Biggie the Notorious big is the king of this where
- 19:30Speaker 1: he would sit in the studio and just listen to
- 19:33Speaker 1: the beat, and as he listened, he'd sit there and
- 19:36Speaker 1: rehearse it in his head, right, and then as it
- 19:40Speaker 1: went on, as it got to the point where you know,
- 19:43Speaker 1: you know, like you know, I don't know how long
- 19:46Speaker 1: it would take, he'd be like, all right, I'm ready.
- 19:47Speaker 1: And if he'd go into the booth and drop what
- 19:51Speaker 1: he was rehearsing to do that, that's freestyle to me,
- 19:56Speaker 1: you know what I mean, Like it's like in my mind,
- 19:58Speaker 1: all right, I'm gonna say this, this, this and this
- 19:59Speaker 1: and and at this part I'm gonna try and freak
- 20:02Speaker 1: it like this, okay, And then I said it right
- 20:04Speaker 1: right right, and then always go back and when you
- 20:06Speaker 1: listen to it, the awe and the you know what
- 20:08Speaker 1: I mean, him catching the beat, all of that shit
- 20:11Speaker 1: is so raw because it's it's not written, it's it's
- 20:15Speaker 1: him feeling it and being in it. That's a bit
- 20:18Speaker 1: of freestyle right there, you know what I mean. That's
- 20:20Speaker 1: a that's a that's what makes the great ones. Jay
- 20:23Speaker 1: Z is another one that does that. Uh. I heard
- 20:26Speaker 1: Little Wayne somebody that does that. I heard he just
- 20:28Speaker 1: would just go on for days, sit in front of
- 20:31Speaker 1: a little microphone and a keyboard and just rap and
- 20:34Speaker 1: rap and rap and rap and rap and rap and
- 20:37Speaker 1: wrap it rap, rap, rap rap. That's how it was
- 20:39Speaker 1: when I did my passover wrap that I sang for
- 20:42Speaker 1: you guys a while back. And did you sing your
- 20:45Speaker 1: passover wrap or was that on something else? Didn't I
- 20:49Speaker 1: do my passover rap for you guys? I don't think so.
- 20:51Speaker 1: I don't think I've ever heard your passover wrap. Yeah
- 20:54Speaker 1: you say, yeah, you did your passover wrap? Yeah yeah, Donald, Yeah,
- 20:58Speaker 1: when you were talking, you were talking it was Helen
- 21:00Speaker 1: Zach took a trip to Boston. Yeah, uh, something about
- 21:04Speaker 1: like something like the reasons. I know. Just remember your comb. Yeah,
- 21:08Speaker 1: now I was fired Donald, Thanks for remembering. I remember dog.
- 21:12Speaker 1: What can we hear it again? Yeah? One day, four
- 21:15Speaker 1: people took a trip to Boston, Elaine, Helen Zach, and
- 21:17Speaker 1: an OUTI five thousand. The reason for the trip was
- 21:20Speaker 1: pass over time. If we snook some bread and it
- 21:22Speaker 1: would be a crime. Just remember on this five hour trip,
- 21:25Speaker 1: McDonald dem Burger king, we would skip. The reason for
- 21:28Speaker 1: this deed was pass over time. If we snook some
- 21:31Speaker 1: bread and it would be a crime. Why don't we
- 21:33Speaker 1: go so far when we could pray at home? The
- 21:35Speaker 1: reason was unknown. Just remember your comb. That's slack. You know,
- 21:43Speaker 1: you know, you know what I love about that. I
- 21:45Speaker 1: love about what. I love that. As a youth, you
- 21:48Speaker 1: understood that your parents were just taking you on as
- 21:50Speaker 1: long as journey so that you would not think about food.
- 21:54Speaker 1: But on this journey, you guys passed McDonald's and Burger
- 21:57Speaker 1: King and all these This was a time of like, um,
- 22:01Speaker 1: the Beastie Boys, like fight for your right to party
- 22:03Speaker 1: era right. So that was my introduction as a Jewish
- 22:07Speaker 1: kid in North Jersey. I didn't know anything about any
- 22:11Speaker 1: other rap really, other than the Beastie Boys singing you
- 22:15Speaker 1: Gotta fight. Oh, you're right, that's the only Beastie Boys. No,
- 22:20Speaker 1: I knew the whole album. I'm just saying that. I
- 22:23Speaker 1: I you can go ahead and make your jokes that
- 22:25Speaker 1: that was my introduction to rap. But that's what it was.
- 22:28Speaker 1: What let me ask you one question, but one that record,
- 22:31Speaker 1: what was your favorite song? I would have to look
- 22:34Speaker 1: at the track list. I don't have a memorized the
- 22:36Speaker 1: one with the plane, right, and the one with the
- 22:37Speaker 1: plane Yeah. Now, did you like Paul Revere at all? Yes,
- 22:42Speaker 1: I even got some of that memorized. I think that's
- 22:44Speaker 1: one of the best. I didn't like this. I didn't
- 22:47Speaker 1: like that. I didn't with a whiffle ball about on
- 22:50Speaker 1: the run the cop scott my gun and run about
- 22:52Speaker 1: now I try to have some fun. The king got
- 22:54Speaker 1: ron that is my name, and I got the fly
- 22:56Speaker 1: spotted about the champagne. Okay, zb got old school, y'all?
- 23:02Speaker 1: All right, come on, let's talk about this fucking TV
- 23:04Speaker 1: show Scrubs. That's why people are here. Oh wait, all right,
- 23:06Speaker 1: so do your recap ready and start. Color and Elliott
- 23:12Speaker 1: are best friends thanks to Eric Estrada. Doctor Kelso orders
- 23:16Speaker 1: the hospital new stethoscopes, but pays the price for trying
- 23:19Speaker 1: to cut the corners JD's dating Jordan's sister, and Cox
- 23:23Speaker 1: hates this so much that he tries to sabotage it.
- 23:27Speaker 1: No relationship is perfect. You have to nurture all relationships,
- 23:31Speaker 1: all of them, whether they be at work or with
- 23:33Speaker 1: a person, and oftentimes just showing up isn't enough. Effort
- 23:37Speaker 1: is required, and sometimes it's hard to muster up the
- 23:41Speaker 1: energy to do so because life is exhausting. But if
- 23:46Speaker 1: you have love, you fight for it. If you love
- 23:49Speaker 1: what you do, you follow through your effort and attention
- 23:53Speaker 1: to others needs could be what's required to save a relationship. Amen. Amen,
- 24:00Speaker 1: relationships are hard. Don you got to work at it.
- 24:03Speaker 1: You gotta work. But it's not just. But it's not
- 24:06Speaker 1: you know, I'm you know that's that's that's the theme
- 24:09Speaker 1: of this show. But it's not just you know, with
- 24:11Speaker 1: another person. Your relationship with your job is just as
- 24:15Speaker 1: important your relationship with you know, how you are with
- 24:19Speaker 1: the outside world. If that I don't, I don't know.
- 24:22Speaker 1: I don't know how you would describe that relationship. But
- 24:24Speaker 1: who you are when you step in front of the
- 24:26Speaker 1: world is just as important as you know, how you
- 24:30Speaker 1: manifest and nurture your personal relationship. Question is and all
- 24:34Speaker 1: your relationships, do you want to put in the work
- 24:36Speaker 1: or do you want to run or right right? Or
- 24:40Speaker 1: do you want to or do you want to just
- 24:42Speaker 1: see what happens? And and you know, Cox and JD
- 24:45Speaker 1: are a perfect example of two dudes. I just wanted
- 24:49Speaker 1: to get the funk out of the hospital and you know,
- 24:53Speaker 1: because of this annoying patient and realize at dinner that
- 24:59Speaker 1: they're be being a little too insensitive and that holy cow,
- 25:02Speaker 1: maybe we you know, we're not seeing the signs because
- 25:06Speaker 1: we're not paying attention to our job. We're not doing
- 25:09Speaker 1: the best that we're not being the best that we
- 25:11Speaker 1: can be, and we're not listening to what this young
- 25:13Speaker 1: lady is saying to us. And and so at the
- 25:16Speaker 1: end when they rushed back to the hospital, when they
- 25:18Speaker 1: realized what the problem is, you know that that really
- 25:22Speaker 1: that was a big moment for me because this episode
- 25:25Speaker 1: isn't necessarily my favorite episode. It's not necessarily the fine.
- 25:28Speaker 1: Didn't you find it odd? Though? I mean, it didn't
- 25:31Speaker 1: cross their minds that she I mean, she fucking ate pesticide.
- 25:34Speaker 1: Like they didn't cross their mind that like she might
- 25:37Speaker 1: be suicidal. I thought that was a little weird. That
- 25:39Speaker 1: was very well, you know, we were like we've done
- 25:43Speaker 1: all these tests and we even sent some people to
- 25:46Speaker 1: your house, and we just can't figure out why there
- 25:49Speaker 1: might be pesticide in your system. I don't know. I
- 25:51Speaker 1: just thought it was a little weird. It's you know, hey,
- 25:54Speaker 1: but what do I know. I'm not a genius. Bill Lawrence,
- 25:57Speaker 1: who showed Ted Lasso just got picked up for two
- 26:00Speaker 1: more seasons. That's amazing congratulation how big that show is
- 26:03Speaker 1: internationally and domestically that I mean, they picked it up
- 26:07Speaker 1: for they haven't even started season two and they picked
- 26:09Speaker 1: up two and three. That's so crazy because speaking interupting,
- 26:19Speaker 1: I gave a compliment interrupting Bill, Oh he's into all right,
- 26:26Speaker 1: I'm trying to I've missed you guys. Um, you're doing
- 26:33Speaker 1: a great job on my podcast. I appreciate it. Uh So,
- 26:37Speaker 1: here is the question for today, and don't cheat. Um
- 26:41Speaker 1: my fifteen seconds every time you guys entered Jill Tracy's room. Um,
- 26:47Speaker 1: doctors only spend fifteen seconds with a patient average, Um,
- 26:51Speaker 1: and a clock comes up. One question one do you
- 26:56Speaker 1: think that's a real thing or that we made it
- 26:59Speaker 1: up for the show? Um, I think it must be
- 27:01Speaker 1: a real thing. It's too weird to not it's it's
- 27:04Speaker 1: to me, it's too random and weird to have been
- 27:07Speaker 1: made up. It does feel short as someone who's unfortunately
- 27:10Speaker 1: spent a bunch of time in hospitals in the last
- 27:12Speaker 1: few years. But I feel like he wouldn't pull that
- 27:15Speaker 1: out of his butt. I think I think I think
- 27:17Speaker 1: they made it up. Okay, all right, let's find out
- 27:21Speaker 1: wrong or right it's not really a real thing. And um,
- 27:28Speaker 1: we did make it up for the show. Because I
- 27:30Speaker 1: find that if you put a small dramatic thing like
- 27:34Speaker 1: that in there that people believe it actually kind of
- 27:36Speaker 1: helps your storytelling. But the even more crafty cheating aspect
- 27:43Speaker 1: to this. Every time you went in there in the
- 27:45Speaker 1: fifteen second clock showed up. Do you think it was
- 27:47Speaker 1: actually fifteen seconds? No, it was, so I know that.
- 27:50Speaker 1: I know that from scrubs Wicky. I'm sorry, that's a
- 27:53Speaker 1: bit of a cheat, but they scrubs wiki, of course
- 27:56Speaker 1: points out how those segments are by no means fifteen seconds.
- 28:00Speaker 1: M let's find out correct it was not. I think
- 28:05Speaker 1: one of them might even be twenty seven or thirty seconds.
- 28:08Speaker 1: But we just slowed down the countdown so we could
- 28:10Speaker 1: do whatever we want. And that's how you cheat in television.
- 28:14Speaker 1: There you go, Thank you, interrupting Bill for that. I
- 28:17Speaker 1: like that. That was a very fun interrupting Bill for me.
- 28:20Speaker 1: It was you know why. You know, I thought, because
- 28:23Speaker 1: he's the top show runner in town this week, that
- 28:26Speaker 1: he might come on extra cocky, but no, he held
- 28:30Speaker 1: it together, he held his ego in check. I'm actually
- 28:35Speaker 1: I'm going to dinner with him and Krista tonight. So
- 28:38Speaker 1: if there's anything you want me to do, you know,
- 28:41Speaker 1: tell them I'm I'm getting in shape. I got a
- 28:43Speaker 1: job that's gonna, you know, make me get in shape
- 28:47Speaker 1: for a little while. What are you hiding from the audience?
- 28:49Speaker 1: What job is this? Do you not want to talk
- 28:51Speaker 1: about it? No, we could talk about it. You know
- 28:55Speaker 1: this might get cut, but well you can bet we
- 28:57Speaker 1: can beat it or something I signed on to do, like, oh, oh,
- 29:08Speaker 1: Joel is gonna lose your mind? What cool booking? Congrats? Yeah,
- 29:16Speaker 1: and so we'll see what happens with that. I don't
- 29:19Speaker 1: know if I'm allowed to talk about it, but you guys,
- 29:22Speaker 1: we could beap it. We can beep the title. But
- 29:25Speaker 1: so is that pushing your training into full gear? Are
- 29:28Speaker 1: we pelotonuting the shit out of us ourselves? Now? Yeah,
- 29:31Speaker 1: there's some nudeness perhaps, Oh are we gonna see your eel?
- 29:37Speaker 1: You're not gonna see my eel. No, there's there's no
- 29:40Speaker 1: way that Casey will allow that. Casey's like they I
- 29:42Speaker 1: don't want anybody seeing your butt or your eel. I
- 29:45Speaker 1: don't want to see booty or frontal. No. Casey's like,
- 29:50Speaker 1: you can show chest, you can show, you can show
- 29:53Speaker 1: belly button. What you can and you're not allowed to do.
- 29:56Speaker 1: You can show crease you can allowed to do a
- 29:59Speaker 1: sexy will Apparently, apparently I have to simulate sex on
- 30:03Speaker 1: the in the in the in the show. So how
- 30:06Speaker 1: can Casey, How can Casey limit your ability as a
- 30:09Speaker 1: handsome male actor to do a sex scene. I don't
- 30:11Speaker 1: believe it because the show runner made the mistake of saying,
- 30:15Speaker 1: you don't have to do the nudity part isn't necessarily important.
- 30:20Speaker 1: I think we should see your ass. You have a
- 30:22Speaker 1: nice bubble, and I think earth needs to see it.
- 30:24Speaker 1: Bounce the earth, Yeah, the whole earth. Well, anyone who
- 30:30Speaker 1: watches the show should see that. Shouldn't bounce, right, Joel, Yes,
- 30:38Speaker 1: if you're comfortable with me. I know Casey's not comfortable
- 30:43Speaker 1: with the case. He's like, ain't nobody seeing your ass bounce?
- 30:46Speaker 1: I wish she would be. She's got to loosen up
- 30:48Speaker 1: about that. She probably will loosen up about it by
- 30:51Speaker 1: the time we get to it as a as a
- 30:54Speaker 1: right now. As of right now, she's like, do you
- 30:56Speaker 1: really want people to see how you fuck? Is that
- 30:58Speaker 1: what you really try? Do you want to show how
- 31:00Speaker 1: good you are? Will you're evil be getting its own credit?
- 31:04Speaker 1: Or do you share a credit? All right, let's talk
- 31:06Speaker 1: about we're gonna we share a title sequence speaking of
- 31:14Speaker 1: names for Cox, That's how the show opens up. Jad's name,
- 31:18Speaker 1: his penis's name is little Buddy. Um. He doesn't like that.
- 31:23Speaker 1: He wishes it was named big al and Um. And
- 31:27Speaker 1: this moment when I'm dancing naked in front of tarr
- 31:30Speaker 1: Reid is what I told you in the last episode,
- 31:32Speaker 1: when my sock fell off and she was able to
- 31:35Speaker 1: see my giblets in their entirety. That's I remember thinking like,
- 31:42Speaker 1: I remember thinking, no, m might have been nice for her,
- 31:45Speaker 1: but I remember thinking like, oh no, Tara, it's there's
- 31:49Speaker 1: a lot of air conditioning, and I have more to
- 31:53Speaker 1: offer the world than what you're seeing. Cock Site, just
- 31:57Speaker 1: stop talking about willis Sorry, Jeb, sorry, Deb, Just one
- 32:01Speaker 1: more second. Deb, We're getting into will you talk? But Um,
- 32:06Speaker 1: do you have a name for your stuff my junk? No,
- 32:11Speaker 1: I don't, I don't, Um, I don't. Do you Well,
- 32:15Speaker 1: you've named my junk eel eel, black whale. I never
- 32:22Speaker 1: called it black whale. How have you? When you yea,
- 32:27Speaker 1: you had to do this too for Um for Scrubs,
- 32:29Speaker 1: when that episode where you're walking in through the park,
- 32:33Speaker 1: so you just take a tube sock and you just
- 32:35Speaker 1: kind of tuck everything in. And that's what that's what
- 32:39Speaker 1: fell off when I started doing that wacky dance. You
- 32:41Speaker 1: didn't put you didn't try to put like a rubber
- 32:43Speaker 1: band at the base. Well, I didn't want to cut
- 32:45Speaker 1: off circulation and lose a nut. You're not going to
- 32:48Speaker 1: cut off circulation, dude. They what if they were like
- 32:51Speaker 1: the scene is though, that's a cut on the scene,
- 32:53Speaker 1: zach Um, your scrotum is blue. They make these things
- 32:58Speaker 1: and for oh oh, I didn't if I didn't have
- 33:04Speaker 1: anything professional like that. Colre me mine. Sorry, you were
- 33:09Speaker 1: very very very uh secure in the fact that a
- 33:14Speaker 1: sock would be able to keep little buddy covered. Well,
- 33:19Speaker 1: I learned the hard way. You no pun intended donald
- 33:22Speaker 1: that um that it did not work. So tera Reid,
- 33:25Speaker 1: you're welcome. You're welcome. Um, so color me mine. Uh.
- 33:29Speaker 1: The very very adorable African American man next to me
- 33:33Speaker 1: is Pooky, who was one of our main lighting electricians
- 33:37Speaker 1: on the show for almost the whole run of the show.
- 33:40Speaker 1: He was Pooky in the beginning, and he was like,
- 33:42Speaker 1: I don't want to be called Pooky no more. My
- 33:43Speaker 1: name is Chris. I never got a change. Maybe that
- 33:46Speaker 1: was you being tough guys like alpha males. He was
- 33:49Speaker 1: always Pooky to me, No Boddy. He changed his name
- 33:52Speaker 1: to everybody halfway through because he was sick and tired
- 33:54Speaker 1: of being called Pooky. Well, I never heard that. I
- 33:57Speaker 1: never got the memo. If I saw him to day,
- 33:58Speaker 1: I'd give him a well, I wouldn't be able to
- 34:00Speaker 1: give him a big hug, but I'd yell Pooky. Remember
- 34:02Speaker 1: when Pooky lost all that weight too. Yeah. By the way,
- 34:05Speaker 1: Pookie may have been in the rerun dance sequence. Absolutely,
- 34:09Speaker 1: he was. Absolutely, he was great guy, really really great guy. Yeah,
- 34:14Speaker 1: one of one of our favorites. Yeah, and he was
- 34:16Speaker 1: one of you know, some of the some of the
- 34:17Speaker 1: crew members did the whole nine years with us, and
- 34:20Speaker 1: I think Pooky came and went a little bit, but
- 34:22Speaker 1: he was with us almost the whole time. Yes, um,
- 34:25Speaker 1: you know electrician doing setting up, setting and focusing the lights.
- 34:30Speaker 1: He and he made a lot of and he made
- 34:31Speaker 1: a lot of cameos on the show. This. Yeah, this
- 34:34Speaker 1: is the beginning of seeing him. Yeah, this is the
- 34:36Speaker 1: beginning of seeing him. But you'll you'll reckon, you'll find
- 34:39Speaker 1: him a lot more as this there's a gag reel
- 34:41Speaker 1: moment in one of the seasons whereas where I'm running
- 34:44Speaker 1: lines with him, he was playing Do you remember that
- 34:46Speaker 1: he was playing, Oh yeah, we actually filmed it and
- 34:50Speaker 1: it wasn't. You guys weren't running lines. Somebody was supposed
- 34:53Speaker 1: to be in the scene. They were like, all right, Poky,
- 34:55Speaker 1: it wasn't. I think it was yeah, And they were like, Pooky,
- 34:58Speaker 1: you get up in there and do it. And he
- 35:00Speaker 1: gets in there and we all thought he was gonna
- 35:01Speaker 1: freaking uh, you know, black, I can't do it, guys,
- 35:05Speaker 1: and out of it he played that. He went hardcore
- 35:07Speaker 1: with it too. The funny thing is he still had
- 35:09Speaker 1: like all his gear on. He had like his walkie
- 35:12Speaker 1: talkie earpiece and all that shit. But he just played it,
- 35:14Speaker 1: played it so straight like he was Elliott or something.
- 35:17Speaker 1: It was really good, man. It was really awesome man.
- 35:19Speaker 1: All right, listen, um, I don't know if it's us
- 35:22Speaker 1: Tara and I are. I'm feeling it's probably stunted people
- 35:25Speaker 1: that fall out of that tree. But you can totally
- 35:27Speaker 1: see the Matt that's hidden under like a really lame
- 35:30Speaker 1: piece of asteroid turf. I just I just love, I
- 35:33Speaker 1: love the fact that j d's ideal date with the
- 35:36Speaker 1: girl to kiss the first time was in a tree. Yeah,
- 35:43Speaker 1: he's just like just like the song, just like the
- 35:45Speaker 1: song K, S and G. That's right, Yeah, I JD's
- 35:51Speaker 1: such a fucking dorc. It's amazing he got these great
- 35:54Speaker 1: women because he is so nerdy. I think it's so endearing.
- 35:57Speaker 1: I think it's so endearing that this is how JD is.
- 36:00Speaker 1: I think you don't. You don't you don't think his sense, No,
- 36:03Speaker 1: I do. I think he's nerdy and charming in people
- 36:06Speaker 1: and women, um uh and man, depending on what you're
- 36:10Speaker 1: indu love to laugh, and so he gets I'm guessing
- 36:14Speaker 1: he gets chicks. I mean, obviously he's a doctor, which
- 36:17Speaker 1: is impressive, but also because he's silly and goofy and
- 36:20Speaker 1: makes him laugh. Wow, he reminds me of Hugh Grant
- 36:23Speaker 1: And what's that in every Hugh Grant movie? Right, pretty much?
- 36:27Speaker 1: But him and Julia Roberts, Oh, notting Hill, notting Hill,
- 36:32Speaker 1: and how Hugh Grant's kind of like oopsie Daisy, like
- 36:35Speaker 1: j D says things like that, and that's I don't know,
- 36:37Speaker 1: that's endearing. I totally get why j D has such
- 36:41Speaker 1: a great uh is a ladies man. Um, how about
- 36:46Speaker 1: that door hit I do at three twenty eight. That
- 36:48Speaker 1: was pretty damn nice if I can, if I give
- 36:51Speaker 1: myself a comedic stunt pat on the back, it's a
- 36:53Speaker 1: nice door hit. And I don't think I'd done a
- 36:55Speaker 1: glass door hit since the pilot. So there you go,
- 36:58Speaker 1: ladies and gentlemen. I think that's the first time I've
- 37:00Speaker 1: run into that what's supposed to be the very same door,
- 37:04Speaker 1: although in the pilot we all know we were in
- 37:05Speaker 1: a different hospital. Yeah. And the fact that these two
- 37:08Speaker 1: are so comfortable, you know, in the fact that the
- 37:13Speaker 1: fact that JDS so comfortable in Cox's house fooling around
- 37:19Speaker 1: with this young lady is a little that that was
- 37:24Speaker 1: just caught me kind of off guard when he walked
- 37:26Speaker 1: in and he was like, and he's yelling at the
- 37:28Speaker 1: two of you for you know, cuddling and being all
- 37:30Speaker 1: cutesy in the morning and stuff. Yeah, that caught me
- 37:33Speaker 1: off guard. Like the fact that j D feels that
- 37:35Speaker 1: comfortable now that he's willing to bang in doctor Cox's houses.
- 37:39Speaker 1: It's pretty funny though, when I when I when he
- 37:41Speaker 1: catches me naked and I hold up the picture of
- 37:43Speaker 1: his baby in front of my ground and he's like, right,
- 37:45Speaker 1: well that and then I turn it around and it's him.
- 37:50Speaker 1: By the way, it's the season one promotional picture like
- 37:54Speaker 1: way to go Props Department, Like, let's just grab a
- 37:57Speaker 1: fucking Scrubs promo pick. I've have been put it in
- 37:59Speaker 1: the frame. That was funny. Yeah. A waffle time song.
- 38:04Speaker 1: He's like, do not sing when I come in the kitchen.
- 38:06Speaker 1: I'm like, waffle time. It's waffle time. Won't you have
- 38:10Speaker 1: some waffles up mine? I don't know if that's the
- 38:12Speaker 1: melody I was going to ask you, because at the
- 38:16Speaker 1: end of you have some waffles of mine? I forgot
- 38:18Speaker 1: what the melody was, but we'll be at the end
- 38:20Speaker 1: of it. You you sing along with him. So was
- 38:24Speaker 1: this something that you two made up at that moment. No,
- 38:26Speaker 1: he's like, you're talking about how comfortably is Jady's walking
- 38:28Speaker 1: into his kitchen and like morning, waffull time, waffle time,
- 38:32Speaker 1: won't you have some waffles of mine? But as but
- 38:35Speaker 1: as actors, was this something that Bill was like, this
- 38:37Speaker 1: is how the song goes, or was it something that
- 38:39Speaker 1: John c made up? Or was it something that you
- 38:41Speaker 1: know what I mean? Because I probably made it up.
- 38:43Speaker 1: I don't know if John sees the stupid silly jingle
- 38:46Speaker 1: maker up or like I am, because like I can
- 38:49Speaker 1: have a whole career as a jingle writer. Donald, word, Oh,
- 38:54Speaker 1: why aren't you doing that? There's so much money in it?
- 38:56Speaker 1: Not really, no, there's not, Yeah there is. And that
- 39:00Speaker 1: Dudley Moore movie funny what was it? What year was that? Dude?
- 39:04Speaker 1: They were freaking killing it. But you know who wrote
- 39:07Speaker 1: du dun No no no, no no, no, no, no no no,
- 39:11Speaker 1: round ball Rock? John Tesh, John Tesh, John Tesh, Dude,
- 39:16Speaker 1: John Tesh, John j wrote more jingles. Have you ever
- 39:20Speaker 1: seen John believe? Have you ever seen John Tesh at
- 39:22Speaker 1: Red Rock? No? I don't know what that is. It's
- 39:25Speaker 1: him playing at the venue. Yeah wait, that's where he
- 39:27Speaker 1: did the Roundball Rock thing. Yeah yeah, yeah yeah. Red
- 39:31Speaker 1: Rocks is the avenue in Colorado. Oh, Red Rocks I've
- 39:33Speaker 1: heard of. Yeah, beautiful out to our venue. But he go,
- 39:35Speaker 1: but um, Donald, I thought you'd be impressed that. I know. No, no, no, no,
- 39:41Speaker 1: no no, that's fucking John Tesh's great as hit. You
- 39:44Speaker 1: guys have seen this video where he describes coming up
- 39:46Speaker 1: with that right. No, but do you think he made
- 39:48Speaker 1: Do you think that was just a buyout or did
- 39:49Speaker 1: he make nine zillion dollars off of it? What maybe
- 39:54Speaker 1: could be? What Dan? What was unique about him coming
- 39:56Speaker 1: up with it? Oh, it's just it's just so funny
- 39:59Speaker 1: because he sends him self a voicemail where he's like, hey, listen,
- 40:03Speaker 1: just remember this one for later. I'll talk to you
- 40:09Speaker 1: later by And it's just like a voice where he
- 40:10Speaker 1: plays at Red Rocks for everybody, I'm gonna find the video.
- 40:13Speaker 1: I'll set it to you. Oh that's no. But there's
- 40:20Speaker 1: a lot of if you're interested in this topic, for
- 40:22Speaker 1: those of you, for those of you are a little
- 40:24Speaker 1: bit confused. John Tesh was the host of Entertainment Tonight
- 40:28Speaker 1: for basically most of our childhood and lie him and
- 40:31Speaker 1: Mary Heart. Yeah, and that was this is back when
- 40:34Speaker 1: there weren't all these other streaming things, so it was
- 40:36Speaker 1: like what was on you watched Entertainment Tonight. And he
- 40:39Speaker 1: was an entertainment journalist and he had this side hustle
- 40:43Speaker 1: which was probably way more lucrative than being an entertainment anchor,
- 40:47Speaker 1: where he would write jingles and if you look up,
- 40:49Speaker 1: if you google it, he wrote a lot of fucking
- 40:51Speaker 1: music and a lot of jingles. You know. No, he
- 40:54Speaker 1: was a concert pianist, dude. Okay, well I'm saying he also,
- 40:58Speaker 1: in addition to the that's song, what is that the
- 41:00Speaker 1: NBA fucking jingle? He wrote a lot It's actually only
- 41:05Speaker 1: the NBA on the NBC. That's what he wrote, all right.
- 41:08Speaker 1: I couldn't have known that. Well it's not it's not
- 41:10Speaker 1: the NBA song anymore. If you don't hear that song anymore.
- 41:13Speaker 1: You know what else he wrote? You know what else?
- 41:14Speaker 1: He wrote what you're trying to get into? No, he
- 41:19Speaker 1: did not do. Not give that man credit for writing that.
- 41:22Speaker 1: But I'll tell you what I could I could pull
- 41:24Speaker 1: up on my phone. In a similar way, when when
- 41:26Speaker 1: Donald and I were about to do the podcast, I
- 41:28Speaker 1: said we got to have a dope theme song. And
- 41:31Speaker 1: I played to Donald like something like this, and then
- 41:34Speaker 1: Donald sent something back to me like riffing on it,
- 41:36Speaker 1: someday I have to play you. And that's what we
- 41:38Speaker 1: sent to Charlie, who then went and made it dope.
- 41:40Speaker 1: Well it was a genius idea. You were like it
- 41:44Speaker 1: should be like the Jeffersons, and I was like, oh shit,
- 41:47Speaker 1: But we turned it into like, and I know we're
- 41:49Speaker 1: just reminiscing. We turned it into a freaking fire. It's
- 41:54Speaker 1: a bop, it's a pop. It's a bob bob, it's
- 41:56Speaker 1: a bob. All right, we have a fan and we're
- 41:59Speaker 1: gonna go to bring will be right back after these words, gentlemen,
- 42:11Speaker 1: we're bad back. We're back. We're back with the Amanda Kabobby.
- 42:16Speaker 1: Give it to her, Donald, give her the give her
- 42:18Speaker 1: the Oprah, Amanda Bobba. Holy shit. Yeah, it's true, Amanda,
- 42:27Speaker 1: it's real. It happened him. I started drinking wine because
- 42:32Speaker 1: I was nervous, and I was like, I don't know
- 42:34Speaker 1: if that's a good or bad thing, so we'll figure
- 42:35Speaker 1: it out. I guess I'm drinking wine too. It's okay.
- 42:38Speaker 1: Oh really, I thought we had a note new let's
- 42:41Speaker 1: not drink during the podcast rule. Donald, Okay, I I
- 42:46Speaker 1: I broke that rule. Oh I think. Good to know, Amanda.
- 42:51Speaker 1: You're welcome to drink. Welcome to the program. How are you?
- 42:55Speaker 1: Where are you? What's going on? I'm good. I am
- 42:57Speaker 1: in my apartment in Hoboken, New Jersey, represent Proboken in
- 43:03Speaker 1: the house. I am Jersey through and through. In one
- 43:07Speaker 1: of those ways where I'm like suburban Jersey, not Jersey
- 43:09Speaker 1: Shore Jersey. I'm sure, yes, like me, yes, yes, we
- 43:12Speaker 1: people like us don't like that Jersey Shore stereotype because
- 43:16Speaker 1: that's not us. Are you a Saku sushi eater? Oh
- 43:20Speaker 1: my god, he's gonna he's just gonna drop the few
- 43:23Speaker 1: Jersey things he knows. He knows like a Jersey and Hoboken.
- 43:26Speaker 1: When you get that, when you get the app, it's
- 43:27Speaker 1: the best sushi you can find. It's in Hoboken or
- 43:29Speaker 1: Jersey City, It's in Hoboken. When you get the opportunity, Saku,
- 43:33Speaker 1: when you get a chance, Saku Hoboken, Saku Hoboken. Remember
- 43:37Speaker 1: I said this to you. You know why they call
- 43:39Speaker 1: it Broboken, Amanda, because of all the bros frap boys.
- 43:42Speaker 1: There's a lot of frap. It's still that way when
- 43:44Speaker 1: I was. When I was around, it was like, oh,
- 43:46Speaker 1: I'm not going to Broboken very much. So so I
- 43:49Speaker 1: also went to Rutgers University, and I feel like it
- 43:51Speaker 1: was very much you did you go to Ruckers too? No,
- 43:54Speaker 1: I just have a lot of friends with directors love
- 43:56Speaker 1: it well. It just it felt like we like graduated
- 43:58Speaker 1: Rutgers and some people were aren't ready and they moved
- 44:00Speaker 1: into downtown. Oh okay, yeah, I remember the percentage of
- 44:04Speaker 1: baseball hats backwards. It was very high. Also, Hopeboken floods
- 44:09Speaker 1: like a beast, doesn't it. Absolutely. I moved to the
- 44:14Speaker 1: top of the hill. I pay a fucking astronomical amountain rent,
- 44:18Speaker 1: but I don't flood luckily. Right on, did you vote, Amanda?
- 44:22Speaker 1: You know today? Just this is maybe before you answer,
- 44:24Speaker 1: this is oh good. You're wearing a voting T shirt
- 44:26Speaker 1: just to remind uh you, Amanda. This is airing on
- 44:31Speaker 1: election Day Tuesday, so we're encouraging everyone who hasn't to vote.
- 44:34Speaker 1: But you're wearing a voting T shirt, so you did vote.
- 44:37Speaker 1: I'm wearing well, I'm going to drop it off this weekend.
- 44:39Speaker 1: I haven't here to thunders. Applause, Dan thunder supplause. Turned
- 44:45Speaker 1: key is turned good? Um? Jersey um not usually a
- 44:51Speaker 1: swing state, but I think we usually go blue. But
- 44:54Speaker 1: we'll see, we'll see what happens today. It's today. Yeah,
- 44:57Speaker 1: what do you do, Amanda for for to pay for
- 45:00Speaker 1: your fancy apartment? Well, I am a video producer. I
- 45:04Speaker 1: work in development, so like video development TV development at
- 45:08Speaker 1: Hearst magazines, so we have like Cosmos Men's Health. I
- 45:12Speaker 1: know you guys are always talking about men's health. Yeah, Donald,
- 45:14Speaker 1: and I want to get on the cover if we
- 45:16Speaker 1: get our abs enough. If you could put in a
- 45:18Speaker 1: recommendation for us, I will hook it up. I will
- 45:20Speaker 1: do what I can. My life goal is to one
- 45:23Speaker 1: day before they shovel me in a Hearst, to have
- 45:26Speaker 1: my abs so impressive that they're like, he's got to
- 45:28Speaker 1: be on the cover of Men's Health. Come on, guys,
- 45:31Speaker 1: right that. I want to be a nat and you
- 45:33Speaker 1: know what, I want to do that one and People's
- 45:35Speaker 1: Most Beautiful, Like I've been dying for that one. I
- 45:38Speaker 1: know I'm getting a little long in the tooth and
- 45:40Speaker 1: everything like that. Well, you mean the sexiest man alive.
- 45:42Speaker 1: That's not gonna happen for you, dude. No, you can
- 45:46Speaker 1: be in Most Beautiful, but you're not. You're too old
- 45:48Speaker 1: to be the sexiest man alive. You never know, you
- 45:51Speaker 1: never know. I think you're the sexiest man alive. Don't
- 45:54Speaker 1: give me that face. But it's usually someone younger, like
- 45:57Speaker 1: a you know, it's younger, younger kind of No, Okay,
- 46:01Speaker 1: I take it back, I'm sorry. Can you. Yeah, he's
- 46:06Speaker 1: lost the ability to speak, which is so which is
- 46:09Speaker 1: so hard for him. I really fucked him up. I'm sorry. Sorry.
- 46:16Speaker 1: By the way, do you do you have a question? Amanda? Yeah.
- 46:19Speaker 1: By the way, by the day, I digress for a moment.
- 46:22Speaker 1: When we last week talked about virtual having sex via
- 46:26Speaker 1: VR with each other, everyone and their cousin weighed in
- 46:30Speaker 1: that there is, of course a Black Mirror episode about this,
- 46:33Speaker 1: So thank you for reminding us. If you don't watch
- 46:35Speaker 1: Black Mirror, watch Black Mirror. But there's a very, very fascinating,
- 46:39Speaker 1: slash bizarrely hilarious, interesting commentary on sexuality episode of Black Mirror,
- 46:45Speaker 1: including VR sex between two hetero friends. So there you go, Amanda,
- 46:53Speaker 1: Amanda a manage. You have a question for us to
- 46:55Speaker 1: cheer Donald up? The sexiest man alive? In my eyes,
- 46:59Speaker 1: I can't, you can't and you can't know. No, no,
- 47:03Speaker 1: I I am. I am not the sexiest men alive
- 47:06Speaker 1: according to Zach. But if if I put out a magazine,
- 47:10Speaker 1: my best friend said to me, oh no, you're never
- 47:14Speaker 1: gonna get that. Those were his exact words. I'm just
- 47:17Speaker 1: gonna put it out there. Oh no, You're never gonna
- 47:19Speaker 1: get that. I my heart is oh man, I don't.
- 47:24Speaker 1: I don't usually like shut the fuck up. I look,
- 47:36Speaker 1: you aren't me so bad? Shall I bring you together
- 47:42Speaker 1: with a question? Yes? Please? The subject? All right? Well,
- 47:47Speaker 1: I hope this brings up good memories, not bad memory.
- 47:50Speaker 1: But one of my questions was, so, what is the
- 47:54Speaker 1: worst trouble the two of you have gotten into together,
- 47:57Speaker 1: whether it was on set of scrubs or not on
- 47:59Speaker 1: set of scrubs? How are you going to ask me
- 48:01Speaker 1: this question? I can't answer this question. I can't answer
- 48:04Speaker 1: this question. We got into a lot of trouble. That's
- 48:08Speaker 1: a lot of trouble that we've gotten into we can't
- 48:10Speaker 1: even talk about. There were there were times where I
- 48:15Speaker 1: am I'm trying my hardest too right now. There were
- 48:18Speaker 1: times where I was like, I can't believe that shit
- 48:25Speaker 1: happened right out, I can't believe we put ourselves into
- 48:31Speaker 1: that situation and that shit happen. Yeah, you don't want
- 48:35Speaker 1: to give a lot of money and a lot of
- 48:36Speaker 1: fame to two guys in their mid twenties. Uh No,
- 48:40Speaker 1: I expect that they're not gonna get You don't want
- 48:42Speaker 1: to do it to you don't want to do it
- 48:43Speaker 1: to anyone in their mid twenties, not two guys to
- 48:47Speaker 1: anyone in the twenties. Much money at a young age
- 48:50Speaker 1: is not a good thing. We had some adventures, um
- 48:53Speaker 1: and uh, and that's all we'll say. As poor is
- 48:56Speaker 1: another glass of wine for himself and fucking two in
- 48:59Speaker 1: the after noon. M Amanda, We'll give you another question
- 49:03Speaker 1: because that one we can't really fully answer. Okay, fine,
- 49:06Speaker 1: that's fair. So, um, I was actually gonna ask so Zach,
- 49:08Speaker 1: I'm like obsessed with Garden State High School. Me would
- 49:13Speaker 1: probably literally pass away if she knew this was happening
- 49:15Speaker 1: right now. And so I also was like, I'm nerdy
- 49:19Speaker 1: where I listened to the commentary and I'm pretty sure
- 49:21Speaker 1: I remember you saying something about a bunch of PA's
- 49:24Speaker 1: you had to have them drive really slow in the
- 49:26Speaker 1: four h five to create traffic. Yeah, that's true. Yeah.
- 49:29Speaker 1: So I work in production also, and I'm constantly asking
- 49:32Speaker 1: our pas to do crazy shit. I've had to do
- 49:35Speaker 1: crazy shit. So I'm wondering, what is your guys, what's
- 49:38Speaker 1: the craziest thing you guys have had to do early
- 49:40Speaker 1: on in your career? Um? Oh wow, gosh, questions. Those
- 49:46Speaker 1: good questions. Yeah, Pa, I had to do a lot
- 49:48Speaker 1: of there's a lot of stuff as a PA that
- 49:51Speaker 1: was just stupid and dangerous. They would have us go
- 49:53Speaker 1: lock up when you're when you're up precious of these
- 49:55Speaker 1: table go lock up that street, meaning don't let anyone
- 49:58Speaker 1: come down it, and it would be like in a
- 50:00Speaker 1: really dangerous neighborhood at night, and I'd be like the
- 50:03Speaker 1: little nerdy kid, like being like, excuse me, everyone, you're
- 50:07Speaker 1: not allowed to come down the street. If you'll be
- 50:09Speaker 1: like fuck you, I'd be like, uh, guys, guys, we're
- 50:13Speaker 1: making a video and like and there were a few times,
- 50:18Speaker 1: there are many many times in Manhattan and at night
- 50:22Speaker 1: where I really almost got my ass kicked begging people
- 50:25Speaker 1: to not walk down a street because we were making
- 50:27Speaker 1: some like Mariah Carey video or something. You're probably really
- 50:32Speaker 1: then I was a good PA because the recipes were
- 50:34Speaker 1: getting high in the fucking cube truck and like not
- 50:37Speaker 1: doing and they I was so into it. I wanted
- 50:40Speaker 1: to be a director art so badly. I wanted to
- 50:42Speaker 1: be a filmmaker so badly. So they come over the
- 50:44Speaker 1: walking to be like we need PA's doing this, and
- 50:45Speaker 1: like no one would reply, so I'd be like I'm
- 50:48Speaker 1: on it, and I'd run over there and do it.
- 50:50Speaker 1: And then they'd be like, Okay, now we need a
- 50:51Speaker 1: PA to be doing this, and I'd be like, no answer,
- 50:53Speaker 1: because they're all just fucking getting high. And I'd be like,
- 50:55Speaker 1: I'll do that too, and like, so I was just
- 50:58Speaker 1: running all over the place. I was like, I wanted
- 51:01Speaker 1: to be like the best PA in the history of PA's.
- 51:04Speaker 1: Oh my god, what about you, Donald? Did you have
- 51:06Speaker 1: any odd crazy jobs someone made you do? No, because
- 51:09Speaker 1: you kind of got it. You were working early, you know,
- 51:11Speaker 1: you never had a real job. No, I did have
- 51:14Speaker 1: a real job. Actually, it's an interesting story. So after
- 51:21Speaker 1: I had I had a little bit of success early
- 51:23Speaker 1: or on in my career, Like I did a bunch
- 51:25Speaker 1: of commercials and stuff like that. And because of that, I,
- 51:29Speaker 1: you know, as a young actor in New York City,
- 51:32Speaker 1: I would always go to my agent's office and hang out,
- 51:36Speaker 1: and so I got to know my agents and made
- 51:39Speaker 1: my face very recognizable so that if anything came through,
- 51:42Speaker 1: they would be like, yeah, we're gonna send Donald down
- 51:45Speaker 1: on this. I made myself so available there that they
- 51:49Speaker 1: needed somebody to work at the front desk. And I
- 51:52Speaker 1: was like, yo, you know what, I'll take the job.
- 51:55Speaker 1: I'll take the job. I'll do that. And they were like, okay, bet.
- 51:59Speaker 1: And so I learned what it was like to be
- 52:02Speaker 1: an agent. I sat, I you know, looked at breakdowns.
- 52:05Speaker 1: I you know, the agents, would you know, write down
- 52:08Speaker 1: the the art the actors or artists who they wanted
- 52:12Speaker 1: to go out for these parts, and I would, you know,
- 52:16Speaker 1: have to type it all up and write the letter
- 52:17Speaker 1: and send it out to all of the casting directors
- 52:20Speaker 1: for the submissions. Right I got. I didn't get good
- 52:23Speaker 1: at it, but this was a great way for me
- 52:25Speaker 1: to submit myself on things that I really wanted to
- 52:27Speaker 1: be in. Like if if it came through and my
- 52:31Speaker 1: name wasn't on it, I would secretly type my name
- 52:33Speaker 1: into that shouldn't be like Donald Phazon and I put
- 52:36Speaker 1: my my my head shot in and send it out
- 52:38Speaker 1: for submissions. I think it clueless, and I got to
- 52:42Speaker 1: go out of town for a really long time. But
- 52:44Speaker 1: I want to keep the job because, you know, as
- 52:46Speaker 1: an actor, you're like, I gotta you gotta make I'm
- 52:48Speaker 1: making money and I'm getting a paychecks, so I'm able
- 52:50Speaker 1: to buy the shit I want. And I asked my
- 52:52Speaker 1: mom and I'm like, Mom, will you take over for me?
- 52:55Speaker 1: Will you work the desk for me? And she was like, yeah, absolutely,
- 52:59Speaker 1: no problem. And so while I'm away doing Clueless, she
- 53:03Speaker 1: works this job for me. And when I come back,
- 53:07Speaker 1: I'm like, okay, Mom, I want my job back. And
- 53:11Speaker 1: the agents at my agency were like, no, you know what, Donald,
- 53:15Speaker 1: that's no longer your job. We want to give it
- 53:17Speaker 1: to your mom. And I was like what, and they
- 53:21Speaker 1: were like, yeah, we're gonna We're gonna give it to
- 53:22Speaker 1: your mom, and your mom is gonna work as the
- 53:26Speaker 1: front end. So my mom was already working in theater
- 53:28Speaker 1: and she was like a director at the National Black
- 53:31Speaker 1: Theater in hallm and she, you know, she'd worked with
- 53:34Speaker 1: a bunch of actors in the community and everything like that,
- 53:37Speaker 1: and so she had a real her finger on the
- 53:39Speaker 1: pulse when it came to young African American or old
- 53:43Speaker 1: African American actors in New York City. And as time
- 53:48Speaker 1: went on, working at the front desk, she then moved
- 53:51Speaker 1: on to become, you know, an agent, and you know, well,
- 53:58Speaker 1: she tapped into the community that she, you know, knew
- 54:01Speaker 1: very well and now has so many people working on Broadway.
- 54:06Speaker 1: She's broke so Las Lonzo, she broke him, like you know,
- 54:09Speaker 1: to this day when I run into there's so many
- 54:11Speaker 1: times I run into African American actors in New York
- 54:15Speaker 1: and their way into me is like yo, yo, surely
- 54:19Speaker 1: phaseon's my agent, Like they like they know that that's
- 54:21Speaker 1: the way to start talking to me. Because the Donalds
- 54:23Speaker 1: it gets, it gets bigger than that though, and then
- 54:26Speaker 1: it turns into my mom is now you know, working
- 54:29Speaker 1: with all of these like they're Leah Michelle, Kristen Bell
- 54:34Speaker 1: like the so she beat the finding your mom took
- 54:37Speaker 1: your desk job, and then it's like working girls, you
- 54:39Speaker 1: all of a sudden became like a super powerful agent.
- 54:42Speaker 1: Within a few years, this happened, and it was all
- 54:45Speaker 1: because of this odd job that I wanted. Like this
- 54:48Speaker 1: wasn't a I don't know that many actors that work
- 54:50Speaker 1: at their agent's office. That just doesn't sound trivia about you. See,
- 54:53Speaker 1: even I am learning Donalda trivia on this very podcast
- 54:59Speaker 1: for you. Manuck you man, I ain't gonna be I'm
- 55:06Speaker 1: not sexy enough for you, So fuck you man. You
- 55:08Speaker 1: ain't no no trivia about me. You don't care about me,
- 55:11Speaker 1: You don't even think I'm trisy. You know you may
- 55:13Speaker 1: have had a shot at that if your wife would
- 55:16Speaker 1: allow you to have your ass bopping up and down
- 55:19Speaker 1: on that fucking show. Women, women and gay men really
- 55:26Speaker 1: like to see a man's ass bounce in a sex
- 55:30Speaker 1: scene on TV, right, Joel a man? Honestly, the sex scenes,
- 55:39Speaker 1: I don't know what is wrong with me. They make
- 55:41Speaker 1: me so uncomfortable. I know, I agree, says you know
- 55:45Speaker 1: how the sausage is made. You see it, You see
- 55:47Speaker 1: the exactly what I'm talking about. Do you remember makes
- 55:51Speaker 1: you uncomfortable? Makes you uncomfortable, Zach, But you are thrusting.
- 55:55Speaker 1: You're throwing me into the fucking fire. No, I wanted
- 55:58Speaker 1: to say something. I want to see your ass. I
- 56:01Speaker 1: want to see your ass, if you feel if I had,
- 56:03Speaker 1: if I had your ass, I would write sex scenes
- 56:06Speaker 1: into my own movies and just bounce my shit. No,
- 56:09Speaker 1: but listen, do you guys remember when we were growing up. Yeah,
- 56:12Speaker 1: and then for some reason, the character's ass is bouncing.
- 56:15Speaker 1: When we were growing up, every fucking movie it was like,
- 56:17Speaker 1: and now it's time for the sex scene. It was
- 56:20Speaker 1: like incorporated into the movie. You know. I was eleven
- 56:24Speaker 1: watching Garden State with no sex scene. We cut around it,
- 56:27Speaker 1: We cut around people. The people scene. Oh that yeah, sorry.
- 56:32Speaker 1: I remember being like, oh, but that was meant to
- 56:34Speaker 1: be out. That was meant to be outrageous. But like
- 56:36Speaker 1: the Natalie scene, and we weren't about to do like
- 56:38Speaker 1: a fucking sex scene. We like, we start making out
- 56:40Speaker 1: and then you cut to us cuddling. But do you
- 56:43Speaker 1: remember like it was like you couldn't have a movie
- 56:45Speaker 1: back in the day where it was like the music
- 56:47Speaker 1: would start and they'd be shooting through like the foggy
- 56:50Speaker 1: of lens and you'd like, oh my god, it's time
- 56:54Speaker 1: and people would liked it. It was like a turnout.
- 56:55Speaker 1: I guess it was like, oh this Maybe it was
- 56:57Speaker 1: like people are on a date and this is gonna
- 56:59Speaker 1: get them riled up to go home and hook up.
- 57:01Speaker 1: But now, yes, now in movies, I think it's it's
- 57:06Speaker 1: pretty odd right to see like a real sex scene
- 57:10Speaker 1: unless there's an unless there's a genuine reason for it.
- 57:13Speaker 1: When it cuts like, you just want to like, okay,
- 57:15Speaker 1: they start making out and then cut to later. We
- 57:17Speaker 1: don't need to see them fucking fuck unless of course
- 57:20Speaker 1: they have Donald's ass. What do you guys think on
- 57:23Speaker 1: this topic. Yeah. I find sex scenes uncomfortable now in
- 57:27Speaker 1: movie theaters, mainly because I, you know, I try movies
- 57:32Speaker 1: that were acceptable to us when we were younger. I
- 57:35Speaker 1: can't show my kids now, and so movies that come
- 57:38Speaker 1: on and all of a sudden something that's very sexual.
- 57:41Speaker 1: And I like the fact. I'm sorry, but I like
- 57:43Speaker 1: the fact that my kids have no idea what sexual
- 57:47Speaker 1: what sexuality is, what you know, what you know? I
- 57:51Speaker 1: love that fact about them right now, and they don't
- 57:54Speaker 1: need to learn about that. And I don't want to
- 57:56Speaker 1: tank that. I don't want them to have to see
- 57:59Speaker 1: that until they're ready. And I don't me personally, I
- 58:04Speaker 1: don't think as seven year old in a five year old, right,
- 58:07Speaker 1: I'm just talking about like that change in this. I'm
- 58:09Speaker 1: not talking about like that. Joel, what do you write
- 58:11Speaker 1: thoughts on this? You're a pop culture expert. Yeah, I
- 58:14Speaker 1: think as sex scenes are good if they are improving
- 58:16Speaker 1: the story, if they're telling story. I don't like when
- 58:19Speaker 1: it's like and now, like two hot people smashing bodies.
- 58:22Speaker 1: It's weird. But like normal People. The series on Hulu
- 58:25Speaker 1: like those sex scenes, like show how the characters evolve
- 58:28Speaker 1: through time and over their relationship and they're like essential
- 58:30Speaker 1: to the storytelling, and so I feel like yes, and
- 58:32Speaker 1: also like what you're gonna ask me? You guys are
- 58:34Speaker 1: actual actors, but I always feel like it's weird to
- 58:36Speaker 1: ask actors to perform them if it's not pertinent to
- 58:39Speaker 1: the story, Like who is this for? What's happening? I
- 58:42Speaker 1: disagree with you, guys. I think sexy. I think sex
- 58:45Speaker 1: scenes making me uncomfortable, but I think they're I think
- 58:48Speaker 1: everybody loved Game of Thrones and that had some ridiculous,
- 58:51Speaker 1: you know, sex scenes in it that had nothing to
- 58:54Speaker 1: do with pushing the story forward, you know, and so
- 58:57Speaker 1: in the beginning they did. Then they started becoming right
- 59:00Speaker 1: like weird, I thought. And also also to that point,
- 59:02Speaker 1: Amelia Clark decided she was not doing any more nude
- 59:05Speaker 1: scenes after the reactions to all that stuff. So I
- 59:07Speaker 1: think there was a bit of a gratuitous nature to
- 59:11Speaker 1: it that kind of soured what Maybe even George Armidine
- 59:14Speaker 1: was upset with the way some of them days, like
- 59:16Speaker 1: this is not how they were written in the book
- 59:17Speaker 1: or why they were there. Well, she did, but that
- 59:20Speaker 1: didn't stop them from having them in the show. And
- 59:23Speaker 1: it was it was it was very prominent in the show,
- 59:26Speaker 1: and we all watched and loved that show. So we
- 59:29Speaker 1: can't really say I'm just in the last episode. I'm
- 59:33Speaker 1: just saying that, I'm saying last scenes. I'm just saying
- 59:36Speaker 1: the eighties and nineties, in a lot of R rated movies,
- 59:39Speaker 1: it was like if I felt like people thought it
- 59:42Speaker 1: was mandator, you went to an R rated movie, you
- 59:44Speaker 1: went on your date. Where's our sex scene? You know?
- 59:47Speaker 1: I don't know, man, Some of my favorite movies didn't
- 59:48Speaker 1: have sex scenes in them, like The Breakfast Club or
- 59:53Speaker 1: I'm talking about like we could go through all the
- 59:55Speaker 1: John Hughes movie. These are big ass movies for that time. Though,
- 59:59Speaker 1: you know what I mean, you're picking the wrong genre.
- 1:00:01Speaker 1: I'm talking about our rated sort of thriller at the time.
- 1:00:06Speaker 1: At the time those movies were out, though, we were like,
- 1:00:11Speaker 1: not every movie has no sex scene. Like Annie, for example,
- 1:00:13Speaker 1: no sex scenes and Annie, Miss Hannigan never rides you
- 1:00:17Speaker 1: just they cut it. That would have been the best
- 1:00:21Speaker 1: musical number ever. That would have been the best musical
- 1:00:24Speaker 1: number ever. Not Life. What's the one? What's the one? Man?
- 1:00:33Speaker 1: I'm sorry you had to see that, all right? A man, No,
- 1:00:35Speaker 1: it's time for everyone's favorite segment, tunneld Stoff laughing. But
- 1:00:40Speaker 1: I think I've won you back. Ready, it's time too
- 1:00:43Speaker 1: fix your life? All right, how can we help our
- 1:00:49Speaker 1: favorite Jersey girl? Um? All right, well, so this is
- 1:00:52Speaker 1: not just fixing my life, it's going to fix basically
- 1:00:54Speaker 1: all of my friends lives also on it. Ready. So
- 1:00:57Speaker 1: I I mean, I just turned twenty seven. It's quarantine
- 1:01:00Speaker 1: and I'm like newly single, all these different things. I
- 1:01:03Speaker 1: think I'm in the throes of a quarter life crisis. Yeah,
- 1:01:07Speaker 1: how does one get through a quarter life crisis? You
- 1:01:13Speaker 1: gotta go through. But there is work you can do.
- 1:01:16Speaker 1: There are there are books and podcasts and seminars, and
- 1:01:22Speaker 1: one can take action. That's what I think. I think
- 1:01:25Speaker 1: i've When I was going through a lot of that stuff,
- 1:01:28Speaker 1: I did a lot of work on myself. Some of
- 1:01:30Speaker 1: it was as simple as a therapist mum, just to
- 1:01:34Speaker 1: get myself talking. But I would ask for self help
- 1:01:38Speaker 1: book recommendations. I took workshops. I you know, there's all
- 1:01:43Speaker 1: now there's Ted Talks, I mean, there's you can't just
- 1:01:46Speaker 1: sit back, like my attitude about life when you're in
- 1:01:49Speaker 1: crisis mode, if even if it's mild or real crisis,
- 1:01:53Speaker 1: like in this episode there's a suicidal story. Is that
- 1:01:56Speaker 1: you have to be proactive. You have you You can't
- 1:02:00Speaker 1: just sit and wait for it to fix itself. You
- 1:02:02Speaker 1: have to to to take steps to to do the work.
- 1:02:08Speaker 1: I mean, I have fired so many therapists just because
- 1:02:10Speaker 1: I always pick fights with them, because that's the kind
- 1:02:12Speaker 1: of person I am. But my brother just told me
- 1:02:14Speaker 1: to read this book The Art of Not Giving a
- 1:02:17Speaker 1: Fuck or something. But yeah, you guys have any books
- 1:02:22Speaker 1: that you recommend. I'm not a strong reader, so you know,
- 1:02:26Speaker 1: Donald only reads the back of the Star Wars video
- 1:02:29Speaker 1: game box and then also on Star Wars comics are
- 1:02:34Speaker 1: also in terms of dating, which always cheers people up. Um,
- 1:02:39Speaker 1: are you are you actively trying? Are you on the apps?
- 1:02:42Speaker 1: Are you trying to meet somebody new? Yeah? I'm on
- 1:02:45Speaker 1: the apps the apps just like I don't know if
- 1:02:47Speaker 1: it's just my area, what produced like a certain lot
- 1:02:50Speaker 1: of bros. You got a lot of bros there. You
- 1:02:52Speaker 1: maybe have to go to Manhattan, you know, and I
- 1:02:54Speaker 1: change my location in Manhattan. I don't know if it's
- 1:02:56Speaker 1: like I'm not playing the app game right or what,
- 1:03:00Speaker 1: but I either the people either don't get any action
- 1:03:02Speaker 1: on the apps or the action I get is like
- 1:03:04Speaker 1: and literally forgive me. But like the first messages sit
- 1:03:07Speaker 1: on my face and I'm like, you're not wanted to take. Okay,
- 1:03:11Speaker 1: that's funny that that's someone's pickup line, sit on my face.
- 1:03:14Speaker 1: I've gotten that three times important to Wow. I'm so sorry.
- 1:03:17Speaker 1: Wow these apps, man, Joel, don't worry. We're gonna find
- 1:03:21Speaker 1: you a good one. Not not whatever one she's on. Okay, good,
- 1:03:24Speaker 1: I look forward to kind of we're trying to set
- 1:03:26Speaker 1: Joell up. No one's gonna say sit on my face
- 1:03:28Speaker 1: to you, Jowell. We're gonna protect you. Thank you. Um well,
- 1:03:33Speaker 1: at least not on the first freaking DM. That's very weird.
- 1:03:37Speaker 1: Something Hi first, then app at least be like, Hi,
- 1:03:41Speaker 1: my name is Roger, sit on my face at least
- 1:03:44Speaker 1: that right. Do you mind if I give Amanda some
- 1:03:46Speaker 1: advice on this quarterlife crisis situation? Yes? Please, you're way
- 1:03:50Speaker 1: smarter one than anybody You're probably Yeah, you're the one
- 1:03:53Speaker 1: to go to for this. I recently having come out
- 1:03:56Speaker 1: of my quarterliine crisis twenty five, twenty seven. Okay, okay, okay, okay,
- 1:04:01Speaker 1: So you're getting toward the end of the craziness, right,
- 1:04:05Speaker 1: And the best advice I got at that age was like,
- 1:04:10Speaker 1: twenty eight and twenty nine are going to be so hard.
- 1:04:12Speaker 1: But all the work that you're doing, all the stuff
- 1:04:14Speaker 1: you're pushing through, all the things you're discovering about yourself,
- 1:04:17Speaker 1: all the people you're dating and rejecting or trying to accept,
- 1:04:21Speaker 1: all the friendships that will either fall apart or strengthened
- 1:04:24Speaker 1: during this time, Like all of that will solidify by
- 1:04:27Speaker 1: thirty and then it's like I've learned all of the lessons, right,
- 1:04:31Speaker 1: the very challenging part of your late twenties is over,
- 1:04:35Speaker 1: and like by the time you hit thirty, it's like, oh,
- 1:04:37Speaker 1: I get what I had to go through all of that.
- 1:04:39Speaker 1: So it sucks when you're in it, but like, don't panic.
- 1:04:42Speaker 1: It's how it's supposed to be. It's the struggle is
- 1:04:45Speaker 1: fortifying you for all of the great things that are
- 1:04:48Speaker 1: about to happen. Right, And you're like very solid in
- 1:04:51Speaker 1: your career. It sounds like it sounds like you've developed
- 1:04:54Speaker 1: a strong voice. You clearly seem to know yourself pretty well,
- 1:04:57Speaker 1: so you know yourself in time. Maybe find a therapist
- 1:05:00Speaker 1: that knows how to fight you back. My therapist constantly
- 1:05:03Speaker 1: looks at me and goes, you know, uh, is that
- 1:05:05Speaker 1: real what you're telling about? Oh? Maybe not. It's like right,
- 1:05:08Speaker 1: so you know, let's steal direction. Also, what I remember
- 1:05:12Speaker 1: writing when I about Garden State was that I felt
- 1:05:16Speaker 1: like my teen years were my body's puberty and my
- 1:05:19Speaker 1: twenty years were my mind's puberty. Yes, because there's so
- 1:05:24Speaker 1: much happening. You're figuring out who you are, who you
- 1:05:27Speaker 1: want to be, what kind of relationship you truly want,
- 1:05:31Speaker 1: what kind of job you want, where you want to live.
- 1:05:33Speaker 1: Like all of this is happening, and it's changing all
- 1:05:36Speaker 1: the time, just like when you're going through puberty, changes
- 1:05:39Speaker 1: and you're like, what the fuck is this new feeling
- 1:05:41Speaker 1: that's happening in your mind? So I would A big
- 1:05:44Speaker 1: thing I would see to is don't make it wrong,
- 1:05:46Speaker 1: Like this is normal. I think people start having panic
- 1:05:49Speaker 1: attacks when they go what's wrong with me? It's like you,
- 1:05:51Speaker 1: I mean, I mean, as you know, I made a
- 1:05:53Speaker 1: fucking movie about it, Like this is this is very
- 1:05:56Speaker 1: very very normal everything that's happened, and so many people
- 1:06:01Speaker 1: are going through what you're going through. I can I
- 1:06:04Speaker 1: not to sound like the downer of it. But I
- 1:06:08Speaker 1: think everybody's in crisis always, you know what I mean.
- 1:06:10Speaker 1: I think life is so exhausting as it is that
- 1:06:14Speaker 1: we're always like, when this is over, you're going to
- 1:06:17Speaker 1: find something else to fixate on and focus on and
- 1:06:22Speaker 1: and and that'll be your next dilemma. But for the
- 1:06:26Speaker 1: most part, you have to go through it and know
- 1:06:30Speaker 1: that this is a journey and know that you're doing this.
- 1:06:33Speaker 1: Everything that you're doing now is setting up what comes later.
- 1:06:37Speaker 1: And I think, yeah, you know, I don't recall my
- 1:06:40Speaker 1: twenties being a crisis, and maybe because I numbed it
- 1:06:44Speaker 1: by going out and partying and experiencing. You know, being
- 1:06:50Speaker 1: in a pandemic doesn't necessarily help where we're you know
- 1:06:53Speaker 1: what I mean, that kind of extra You're going through
- 1:06:56Speaker 1: these feelings and the dating conundrum during a pandemic, which
- 1:07:00Speaker 1: is just so extra hard, and I really really feel
- 1:07:04Speaker 1: for you. I don't understand people who date on the
- 1:07:06Speaker 1: apps in the middle of COVID. I'm like, you're gonna
- 1:07:08Speaker 1: get it, you know what I mean, Russian Roulette, and
- 1:07:12Speaker 1: especially if you're sitting on people's faces. All right. I
- 1:07:17Speaker 1: don't know if we've fixed your life, but we at
- 1:07:18Speaker 1: least are here to cheer you on and say we
- 1:07:21Speaker 1: care about you and you're not alone. And I'm a
- 1:07:25Speaker 1: big proponent of therapy. We promote a couple of the
- 1:07:28Speaker 1: different apps on here that I have not just bullshit
- 1:07:31Speaker 1: because we promote them. I have friends that use them
- 1:07:33Speaker 1: and really have gotten great results from them. Good thing
- 1:07:36Speaker 1: about them is if you don't like the person on
- 1:07:38Speaker 1: the first try, you can just keep changing until you
- 1:07:41Speaker 1: find somebody you like. And I think people have gotten
- 1:07:43Speaker 1: good results of that. Just I know a lot about
- 1:07:46Speaker 1: therapy because I have two parents that are psychologists. So
- 1:07:49Speaker 1: I've gotten a lot of success out of a type
- 1:07:51Speaker 1: of therapy called someone who's a cognitive behaviorist, because I've
- 1:07:54Speaker 1: done enough talking about my past. I've done enough like
- 1:07:56Speaker 1: oh I was sad when they made fun of me.
- 1:07:59Speaker 1: And at this point, a cognitive behavior is a little
- 1:08:02Speaker 1: more like let's talk about the plan. It's a little
- 1:08:04Speaker 1: more like a coach being like, here's the plan for
- 1:08:06Speaker 1: this week. You don't want the X to happen, then
- 1:08:08Speaker 1: we're gonna do why you want you want to be
- 1:08:10Speaker 1: more like this, then we're gonna do this. So if
- 1:08:13Speaker 1: that that type of therapist has been very helpful to
- 1:08:15Speaker 1: me in my life. You might seek someone like that
- 1:08:17Speaker 1: out a life coach. Yeah, and and because I some
- 1:08:22Speaker 1: people like to lie on a couch and and talk
- 1:08:25Speaker 1: about the pain they've experienced, and that works and is helpful,
- 1:08:28Speaker 1: and some people need to do that. I'm not minimizing it.
- 1:08:29Speaker 1: I've done plenty of it, I'll be saying at this
- 1:08:31Speaker 1: point in my life. And again, I'm much older than you,
- 1:08:33Speaker 1: but I've gotten a lot of help out of someone
- 1:08:35Speaker 1: who's like, Okay, I hear what you're feeling. I hear
- 1:08:38Speaker 1: where you want to get to. I hear that you're
- 1:08:40Speaker 1: stressed about this or this. Here's the plan for this
- 1:08:42Speaker 1: week that's going to be put in place by us
- 1:08:44Speaker 1: as a team to make you get there. And that
- 1:08:47Speaker 1: could be finding a partner, that could be finding a job,
- 1:08:49Speaker 1: that could be whatever you fucking want it to be.
- 1:08:51Speaker 1: I would also just like to add one thing to
- 1:08:52Speaker 1: what Zach is saying, is that, like, when you're doing
- 1:08:54Speaker 1: your googles for this kind of thing, make sure that
- 1:08:57Speaker 1: you search both words like life coach, but all so
- 1:09:00Speaker 1: specifically cognitive behavioral therapy, because they're different things that have
- 1:09:05Speaker 1: similar goals and you just might get people who are
- 1:09:08Speaker 1: life coaches who are going to help you work through stuff.
- 1:09:10Speaker 1: But I really back up what Zach is saying when
- 1:09:12Speaker 1: you can have someone who's professional with experience give you
- 1:09:14Speaker 1: like a b C. And that's really going to come
- 1:09:17Speaker 1: from a cognitive behavioral therapist. And I always feel, because
- 1:09:20Speaker 1: I know I'm going to talk to him once a
- 1:09:21Speaker 1: week that I it's like I have to have my
- 1:09:22Speaker 1: homework done like to I want to impress him. So
- 1:09:26Speaker 1: I'm always like, Oh, I'm gonna do that shit I
- 1:09:28Speaker 1: promised him I would do because I made a commitment. Anyway,
- 1:09:32Speaker 1: I'm rambling. I think we can say you're welcome, right, Donald,
- 1:09:35Speaker 1: Can we say you're welcome? I mean, I mean maybe
- 1:09:37Speaker 1: half you're welcome. No, we could say you're welcome. We've
- 1:09:41Speaker 1: said her on a path, We've given her, We've given
- 1:09:43Speaker 1: her some tools that she can use to better herself
- 1:09:48Speaker 1: and take this journey that she's on into a positive
- 1:09:52Speaker 1: direction and not fall into the abyss that is most depression.
- 1:09:55Speaker 1: The most powerful thing you need to know is that
- 1:09:57Speaker 1: you are not alone. You are not alone. Everybody deals
- 1:10:00Speaker 1: with this shit. I think some people spiral out because
- 1:10:03Speaker 1: they go, what's wrong with me? No, what's wrong with
- 1:10:05Speaker 1: you is that you're human being. And everybody deals with
- 1:10:07Speaker 1: this and all these people you see on TV and
- 1:10:10Speaker 1: the reality shows living these fucking bullshit lives, it's all bullshit.
- 1:10:14Speaker 1: They deal with it too, And you are not alone.
- 1:10:17Speaker 1: Everybody goes through it, Okay, no one's No one's truly happy. Yeah,
- 1:10:23Speaker 1: well no, some people are happy. But I but but
- 1:10:26Speaker 1: everybody has their demons, they battle, everybody has their their
- 1:10:29Speaker 1: their sources of pain and uh, and I think it's
- 1:10:32Speaker 1: very important for you to know that you're not alone.
- 1:10:34Speaker 1: All right, Amanda, my favorite Jersey girl. Let's take a break.
- 1:10:41Speaker 1: We'll be right back. After these fine words. We gotta
- 1:10:50Speaker 1: talk more about what the show. Dude. People get mad
- 1:10:52Speaker 1: that we don't talk about the show enough. We got
- 1:10:53Speaker 1: to talk more about the show. Are you telling me
- 1:10:55Speaker 1: people have grievances with the show? Oh? Fucking people have
- 1:10:58Speaker 1: very grievance. Grievance is a new segment that um I
- 1:11:04Speaker 1: call grievance. Geez, you guys have had Brendan Fraser Tera
- 1:11:10Speaker 1: read other lock leer Jason R. You have so many
- 1:11:13Speaker 1: interesting guests on the show, and you know you haven't
- 1:11:15Speaker 1: had is one writer of the show not one. They
- 1:11:20Speaker 1: listen to it, they know and uh so here's the uh,
- 1:11:26Speaker 1: the tough grievance moment for you guys is what follows
- 1:11:31Speaker 1: is three single sentences from three different writers that were
- 1:11:35Speaker 1: on this show from multiple of years. There will probably
- 1:11:38Speaker 1: be a clue in their sentence. But unless you can
- 1:11:42Speaker 1: identify these three writers by the sentence clue, I'm afraid
- 1:11:48Speaker 1: I'm going to have to pull the plug on our podcast. Already,
- 1:11:53Speaker 1: get your thinking. Wait, wait, I have a question, Daniel.
- 1:11:56Speaker 1: These are sentences that Bill's gonna say that we should
- 1:11:59Speaker 1: know who. Oh, the writers themselves. The writers themselves have
- 1:12:02Speaker 1: submitted three sentences. Of course you're gonna know. All three
- 1:12:05Speaker 1: sentences are going to play out. There's a tiny space
- 1:12:08Speaker 1: between each one, and then the answer is a separate file.
- 1:12:10Speaker 1: But we'll let everybody else right already write down your answers,
- 1:12:13Speaker 1: because it's it's they're gonna play him in an order.
- 1:12:15Speaker 1: Everybody ready, there's a small bit of silence in between
- 1:12:17Speaker 1: each one. Okay, I have a lot of kids. I
- 1:12:22Speaker 1: like musical theater, and I don't listen on Fridays, which
- 1:12:27Speaker 1: is today, so I'm not listening Jewish, all right, all right,
- 1:12:37Speaker 1: I got them off. Okay, I think I got them too,
- 1:12:40Speaker 1: all right. The first one's Tim Hobert. Easy, Tim Hobert. Gabby.
- 1:12:44Speaker 1: Gabby is the second one, and uh, I think are
- 1:12:51Speaker 1: you guys ready? Yeah? Oh my god, you guys better
- 1:12:54Speaker 1: have gotten Tim Horbert, Gabby, Allen Greenberg and Neil gold or. Um. Well,
- 1:13:01Speaker 1: I mean, I gotta be honest with the podcast is over.
- 1:13:04Speaker 1: That would out a lot of people, as I do
- 1:13:07Speaker 1: love my podcast. That was the easiest. I like that
- 1:13:12Speaker 1: game though. Yeah, that was easy though. That was really
- 1:13:15Speaker 1: easy though. That was fun though it was good to
- 1:13:17Speaker 1: hear their voices. Also, No, no, we're going along, Daniel,
- 1:13:28Speaker 1: We're going along. We're already at a barely talked about
- 1:13:32Speaker 1: the fucking show. We gotta speed through it now. Um,
- 1:13:35Speaker 1: who should we have on? Who do you think would
- 1:13:36Speaker 1: be the best guest of those three? I mean they'd
- 1:13:40Speaker 1: all be good, don't get me wrong, But who would
- 1:13:41Speaker 1: you Who should we choose first? I think I honestly
- 1:13:44Speaker 1: believe that we should break them off into little groups,
- 1:13:47Speaker 1: you know what I mean? Well, Gabby, by the way, Gabby,
- 1:13:50Speaker 1: in terms of coming up next, Um, Gabby, I'm is
- 1:13:54Speaker 1: the first. I'm looking at the schedule is wrote, for
- 1:13:58Speaker 1: some reason wrote the next two that's impossible, but she was, Yeah,
- 1:14:03Speaker 1: so maybe Gabby, let's let's reach out and see if
- 1:14:05Speaker 1: she wants to do it. Okay, Joel, will you get
- 1:14:07Speaker 1: I don't have for I might not have her email anymore.
- 1:14:10Speaker 1: Will you get her from us? Yeah? Absolutely? And I'm
- 1:14:12Speaker 1: sure everyone would also like to heal from a very
- 1:14:15Speaker 1: successful female comedy writer in Hollywood. Who wouldn't love her?
- 1:14:18Speaker 1: About that? Absolutely? Um, can we talk about this fucking
- 1:14:23Speaker 1: show Scrubs? Donald? Why do you have to put that
- 1:14:26Speaker 1: type of handle on it? Oh? What about? Why is
- 1:14:28Speaker 1: that guy sitting next to the dartboard in a bar?
- 1:14:31Speaker 1: That guy is the worst seat in the world. He's
- 1:14:33Speaker 1: literally sitting next to a dartboard as Sarah and uh
- 1:14:37Speaker 1: and and and Judy try and throw darts. I was like,
- 1:14:40Speaker 1: that's a bad seat, buddy, Yeah it was. I think
- 1:14:43Speaker 1: it's for comedy. Yes, I had a feeling it was
- 1:14:46Speaker 1: for comedy. I think it's for comedy. Patrick Bolton, our
- 1:14:50Speaker 1: set dresser friend, was the bartender in that scene. How
- 1:14:53Speaker 1: about Elliott having hair on her lower back? Yes, I
- 1:14:58Speaker 1: think a lot of women probably do have a thin
- 1:15:01Speaker 1: layer of hair back there. Okay, I don't know, Um,
- 1:15:05Speaker 1: Eric Strata paunch. That was great, right, Eric Strata one
- 1:15:10Speaker 1: of my heroes as a youth. Everyone meets Chips. I
- 1:15:15Speaker 1: gotta tell you, my dad was so anti gun, um
- 1:15:19Speaker 1: that we were not allowed to have toy guns. And
- 1:15:22Speaker 1: he was so anti toy gun that when I had
- 1:15:26Speaker 1: the John doll, they it was like a Ken doll
- 1:15:30Speaker 1: sized John from Chips. He took the little one centimeter
- 1:15:36Speaker 1: gun away from me. Wouldn't love to have the Chips gun.
- 1:15:42Speaker 1: That's how anti gun my dad was. Yeah, well you know,
- 1:15:44Speaker 1: so sorry, That's that's how it is. Oh, I should
- 1:15:47Speaker 1: buy that doll on eBay and and and play with
- 1:15:50Speaker 1: the gun. Um. We Donald and I did a very
- 1:15:53Speaker 1: funny photo shoot. I don't know if we've mentioned this before.
- 1:15:55Speaker 1: You guys can google it. Um. It was for People
- 1:15:58Speaker 1: a magazine. Any think Donald and uh we dressed up
- 1:16:01Speaker 1: like Eric Estrada and John from Chips. We did. And
- 1:16:06Speaker 1: because I have blonde hair, I have a wig on.
- 1:16:07Speaker 1: I assume everyone, of course says I look like Dak
- 1:16:10Speaker 1: Shepherd like they do, no matter what I fucking do,
- 1:16:14Speaker 1: because and because and because I put a wig on,
- 1:16:17Speaker 1: and I looked like Bruno mars. I had a possibility
- 1:16:21Speaker 1: at that time to be one of America's most sexiest
- 1:16:24Speaker 1: men or people's most sexiest men, you know what I mean,
- 1:16:27Speaker 1: which was really interesting. And then John and then you know,
- 1:16:30Speaker 1: Dax went on to make the Chips movie, which is
- 1:16:33Speaker 1: too which which you know, I was happy for him
- 1:16:35Speaker 1: because he's an awesome guy. But you know, you and
- 1:16:37Speaker 1: I would have been a great punch and John, I
- 1:16:40Speaker 1: can't play punch man. No, you don't have to be
- 1:16:44Speaker 1: a Hispanic pounch. You could be African American zaunch. I didn't.
- 1:16:49Speaker 1: I think I think we're doing a disservice to all
- 1:16:52Speaker 1: of the Latino We don't have to do the exact thing.
- 1:16:56Speaker 1: And we could do California Highway patrol on motorcyle anyway.
- 1:16:59Speaker 1: We can't do anyway. Dacks to it all right. One
- 1:17:01Speaker 1: of my favorite lines in the show, Sweet Dancing Jehovah,
- 1:17:04Speaker 1: I punctured my brain. Yeah, I laughed at that one.
- 1:17:10Speaker 1: That was funny. Kelso deaf and everyone every time he
- 1:17:12Speaker 1: walks by just saying all that ship to him, yes,
- 1:17:16Speaker 1: and then and then and then ted missing the missing
- 1:17:19Speaker 1: the bus and coming in a little too late, giving
- 1:17:23Speaker 1: him the business. He goes there, you are you, Jeff bastard?
- 1:17:27Speaker 1: He was like, It's like no one had told Ted
- 1:17:30Speaker 1: until it was too late, and he finally he had
- 1:17:33Speaker 1: it all. He had it all stored up ready to go.
- 1:17:35Speaker 1: That was fucking funny. Like, dude, like you've over time.
- 1:17:40Speaker 1: You kind of gotta feel sorry for Ted man, Like,
- 1:17:43Speaker 1: oh my gosh, dude, it's like, first of all, his
- 1:17:47Speaker 1: boss is a jerk to him, and then second of
- 1:17:49Speaker 1: all he never seems to catch a break ever, think
- 1:17:53Speaker 1: nothing ever works out for him, ever works out for him?
- 1:17:57Speaker 1: What about Whack and Nubi at the carnival? Whack and
- 1:17:59Speaker 1: Nubia canub Yeah? Yeah? What about the fact that JD
- 1:18:03Speaker 1: can't get I can't use the giant mallet to get
- 1:18:08Speaker 1: the to ring the bell at the carnival? Also yeah,
- 1:18:11Speaker 1: I can, by the way, But you know what is
- 1:18:13Speaker 1: true about me? If one thing that is true about me,
- 1:18:17Speaker 1: and you can call me a nerd or a dorc
- 1:18:20Speaker 1: or a what other other synonyms are there? Guys, you
- 1:18:26Speaker 1: haven't said one bad word yet. I do get nauseous
- 1:18:30Speaker 1: on rides, Oh oh, I really do. First of all,
- 1:18:34Speaker 1: I cannot fuck with like a teacup situation for your
- 1:18:37Speaker 1: whole life, your whole life. Yeah, I don't like them.
- 1:18:40Speaker 1: I will go on a fast roller coaster that's straight
- 1:18:43Speaker 1: and fast and takes big curves. I'm fine with that,
- 1:18:47Speaker 1: but I cannot do anything spinning. I don't like the
- 1:18:51Speaker 1: fucking thing that drops this mansion. Yeah, I've done that.
- 1:18:56Speaker 1: It makes you want to pukes. You know that cheap
- 1:19:00Speaker 1: it's the cheap thing that spins and the floor drops out. Yeah. No,
- 1:19:03Speaker 1: oh my gosh. Yeah. You know what, as I've gotten older,
- 1:19:07Speaker 1: there's certain things that I can't do anymore. Like I
- 1:19:09Speaker 1: used to be able to get on roller coasters and
- 1:19:11Speaker 1: all of that stuff no problem, and get on them
- 1:19:13Speaker 1: over and over again. My fortieth birthday, we went to Disneyland,
- 1:19:17Speaker 1: and I remember this very well because Disney sponsored the
- 1:19:22Speaker 1: trip and they hooked it up to where I we
- 1:19:24Speaker 1: you know, we had a guide and everything. They hooked
- 1:19:26Speaker 1: it up for a person who's worked for Disney for
- 1:19:29Speaker 1: a really long time, and we were able to get
- 1:19:32Speaker 1: on the California Scream like five times in a row.
- 1:19:39Speaker 1: That the loop. Do you want to go again? Yeah?
- 1:19:43Speaker 1: Do you want to go again? Yeah? We want to
- 1:19:45Speaker 1: go again? And we did it again. Do you want
- 1:19:47Speaker 1: to go again? Yeah, we want to go again. And
- 1:19:50Speaker 1: we did it again. Do you want to go again?
- 1:19:52Speaker 1: I don't know, Yeah, we want to we had. I
- 1:19:55Speaker 1: bought all my This is the thing that I like
- 1:19:57Speaker 1: to do for my birthday. I like to invite all
- 1:20:00Speaker 1: of my friends and their kids and let the kids
- 1:20:04Speaker 1: have fun because I like to have h like a
- 1:20:08Speaker 1: like I'm a Disneyland type of birthday, Like I'm a
- 1:20:10Speaker 1: forty six year old man who likes to go to Disneyland.
- 1:20:13Speaker 1: Like okay, so anyway, did my nephews, my nieces, my
- 1:20:17Speaker 1: freaking you know, a bunch of youth is with us?
- 1:20:21Speaker 1: You want to go again? Yeah, we want to go again?
- 1:20:23Speaker 1: To kids, I'm like, oh no, I don't think I
- 1:20:25Speaker 1: can do it for the rest of the day. You
- 1:20:27Speaker 1: know when you get that when you get that nauseous,
- 1:20:29Speaker 1: that's like when you make this sound. Okay, it's the sound.
- 1:20:36Speaker 1: It's you're trying to freaking relax your mouth from you
- 1:20:40Speaker 1: know how you get water. I did not puke, but
- 1:20:43Speaker 1: for the rest of the day, I had to go.
- 1:20:45Speaker 1: For the rest of the day, I was going like
- 1:20:46Speaker 1: this though. I went trying to get my tongue to
- 1:20:51Speaker 1: get that nauseous, and everyone was like, we're going again.
- 1:20:54Speaker 1: I was like, I'm not. And I was like I
- 1:20:56Speaker 1: was like the parent, like waited by the exit for everybody.
- 1:21:00Speaker 1: That's that's that. Yeah, it ruined the not my birthday,
- 1:21:06Speaker 1: but it ruined the fact that I was like, I
- 1:21:08Speaker 1: don't know if I'll e get on roller coasters again.
- 1:21:10Speaker 1: And so since then, I can only do roller coasters
- 1:21:13Speaker 1: one time, and when I get off, I always feel
- 1:21:15Speaker 1: that little bit of nausea that oh oh, that's robot
- 1:21:18Speaker 1: for goodnight. I mean, what the hell was that? I
- 1:21:20Speaker 1: must have I made that up. I don't know what
- 1:21:22Speaker 1: the hell was going on there. How about the janitor
- 1:21:24Speaker 1: getting a freaking new job because and he turned it
- 1:21:27Speaker 1: into like a radio show where he's freaking dissing people.
- 1:21:31Speaker 1: By the way, speaking of being dorky, I was the
- 1:21:33Speaker 1: guy in high school who did the announcements really cool, yes,
- 1:21:38Speaker 1: And I remember thinking, I mean, you know, with a
- 1:21:40Speaker 1: group from all four years there was four years, there
- 1:21:42Speaker 1: was four ye team. There was no it was there
- 1:21:46Speaker 1: was a team. You know, you had your sports team. Well,
- 1:21:48Speaker 1: I had my announcements team team in high school. No,
- 1:21:52Speaker 1: I'm making a joke saying like you know like as
- 1:21:56Speaker 1: there was a team and we had like we had
- 1:21:57Speaker 1: like practice where we'd be like, Mummy made me match
- 1:21:59Speaker 1: my ama the lips of the typices in the tongue. Um. Yeah,
- 1:22:02Speaker 1: I would do the announcements and I remember thinking I
- 1:22:04Speaker 1: was really cool doing the announcements. It's powerful. Um did
- 1:22:08Speaker 1: you play like did you play like a xylophone where
- 1:22:10Speaker 1: you like do do do dode? No? I remember, I remember.
- 1:22:16Speaker 1: I think we had to do the pledge of allegiance. Uh,
- 1:22:19Speaker 1: and it was written down so you didn't fuck it up,
- 1:22:22Speaker 1: little mistake. I think it's sixteen thirteen. In Nicole Sullivan's
- 1:22:27Speaker 1: room when we're the last time we're meeting with her,
- 1:22:30Speaker 1: there's no door on the hinges. If you're someone who
- 1:22:33Speaker 1: likes um fuck ups in movies. For some reason, the
- 1:22:37Speaker 1: grips must have taken off the hospital room door, but
- 1:22:40Speaker 1: you can just see the hinges sitting there. There's no
- 1:22:42Speaker 1: door on the room. That's interesting, you know if you
- 1:22:44Speaker 1: if you if you caught that, you're not watching the show.
- 1:22:47Speaker 1: But anyway, I like to I like to look in
- 1:22:51Speaker 1: the both the background and the foreground while I'm doing
- 1:22:53Speaker 1: this podcast A dollar because I wanted to love while
- 1:22:55Speaker 1: doing them while doing the podcast. Absolutely right. If you're
- 1:22:59Speaker 1: if you're listening to and you're wanting to catch fuck
- 1:23:02Speaker 1: up some stuff, Yeah, we're gonna try and catch that too.
- 1:23:04Speaker 1: But watching movies and watching TV shows now and not
- 1:23:07Speaker 1: being able to get into it because I'm noticing what's
- 1:23:10Speaker 1: going on in the background, or noticing what's going on
- 1:23:12Speaker 1: because of mess ups and stuff like that, I try
- 1:23:16Speaker 1: not to do that now. I try to enjoy a
- 1:23:18Speaker 1: movie as much as I can. I imagine it's got
- 1:23:19Speaker 1: to be very difficult for you, Zach. Being a director,
- 1:23:22Speaker 1: I always look at stuff in the background, and sometimes
- 1:23:24Speaker 1: it hurts my experience, but that is the price I
- 1:23:28Speaker 1: pay for being a movie maker. One of the last
- 1:23:33Speaker 1: lines we say is you can never underestimate the importance
- 1:23:36Speaker 1: of listening. And I think that's a very simple but
- 1:23:39Speaker 1: very smart sense that so much miscommunication comes from no
- 1:23:42Speaker 1: one really truly listening to each other. It's hard to listen.
- 1:23:46Speaker 1: That's one of the hardest things to do. And you
- 1:23:48Speaker 1: know it's it's a simple thing to do, but it's
- 1:23:50Speaker 1: actually hard to shut your brain off and listen to
- 1:23:54Speaker 1: somebody else's stuff. Yeah, because our brains are going, oh,
- 1:23:59Speaker 1: what's the thing I'm going to say next. Oh, he
- 1:24:01Speaker 1: just reminded me of a story that now I'm going
- 1:24:03Speaker 1: to tell oh, what's for dinner? And I strive to
- 1:24:08Speaker 1: be someone that can be truly looking at you and
- 1:24:10Speaker 1: listening when you talk to me. That's one of my
- 1:24:13Speaker 1: hardest things to do. And I've I've told stories about
- 1:24:16Speaker 1: this before, you know, meeting my idols like George Lucas
- 1:24:19Speaker 1: and stuff and not being able to listen because I
- 1:24:22Speaker 1: was so geeked. It's a it's a it's a really
- 1:24:26Speaker 1: good thing if you can listen to someone. And here
- 1:24:30Speaker 1: there's because there are so many times in my life
- 1:24:32Speaker 1: where if I would have listened, maybe the outcome of
- 1:24:36Speaker 1: somebody else's life would have been better. But because I
- 1:24:39Speaker 1: was caught up in my own shit and didn't listen,
- 1:24:44Speaker 1: things were different. I'm sure everybody feels that. But this isn't.
- 1:24:49Speaker 1: This is something that is. This is something that I
- 1:24:53Speaker 1: think we all we all take for granted, the ability
- 1:24:58Speaker 1: to listen. Yes, so listen to each other and listen
- 1:25:01Speaker 1: to us as we end this show and beg you
- 1:25:03Speaker 1: to vote. I am literally going to get down on
- 1:25:06Speaker 1: my knees and asked you wing. He's clasped his hands together,
- 1:25:18Speaker 1: as if praying to a deity. Um, I am, I'm
- 1:25:23Speaker 1: I've never asked you listener for anything. Um, please vote.
- 1:25:27Speaker 1: Today is the day. Go make happ and even I've
- 1:25:29Speaker 1: got a wait in line. Bring some snacks, bring a
- 1:25:32Speaker 1: lawn chair, bring a podcast. If you've listened to all
- 1:25:35Speaker 1: of this one, try another one. Yes, I just figured
- 1:25:38Speaker 1: out how I've been wondering how my dog gets in
- 1:25:40Speaker 1: and out of the vegetable garden. And I just caught
- 1:25:43Speaker 1: that little bitch. And I can call her a bitch
- 1:25:44Speaker 1: because it's a female dog. I just caught how that
- 1:25:47Speaker 1: little bitch is getting into my vegetable garden. I just
- 1:25:50Speaker 1: saw her sneak out one of the fucking date. Okay,
- 1:25:54Speaker 1: problem solved, you guys, go vote. We love you. Oh. Um,
- 1:25:58Speaker 1: I'm a question. I'm funny. Emerge. Go to the Cotton

- 1:26:08Speaker 1: What what do you say to the people who didn't
- 1:26:10Speaker 1: register to vote? Now at this point and we're speaking,
- 1:26:13Speaker 1: I think there's there there are some states where you
- 1:26:15Speaker 1: can go on the day. You can if you're listening
- 1:26:18Speaker 1: and you never registered, I think. Just go to iwill
- 1:26:20Speaker 1: vote dot com and you can find the answer. Some
- 1:26:23Speaker 1: states you can show up on the day there. It
