- 0:00In our ordinary external awareness, we experience
- 0:03ourselves as an individuality, and we look at our various
- 0:08actions and reactions, responses and directed focuses of our
- 0:12attention as one unified whole. In reality, however, upon closer
- 0:19examination, we can determine that we in fact have different
- 0:23parts of our being, different elements which in many cases
- 0:28have differing needs and desires and modes of responding to
- 0:32situations and events. We have a physical being, a
- 0:38vital being encompassing both the nervous vital energy and the
- 0:42expression of our life power centres and our emotional
- 0:45reactions, and a mental being which collects our ideas,
- 0:50opinions and focused attention. These diverse parts of our being
- 0:55are many times in conflict with one another and thus we struggle
- 1:02from time to time to find a solution.
- 1:05We may try to exercise willpower to hold back a physical or vital
- 1:10need or demand. We may sublimate energies that
- 1:14arise in the vital nature and channel them into mental
- 1:17pursuits. We also may find that the vital
- 1:20nature in particular has the ability to overpower the mind
- 1:25and the will, thus bending the mental power to carry out
- 1:29whatever the vital desire happens to be with ready made
- 1:34justifications and excuses to make it seem like it is the
- 1:38right and logical thing to do. When we are able to shift the
- 1:43standpoint to that of the psychic being, we find that the
- 1:47psychic being is able to view and organize all these diverse
- 1:51elements of the being around the central purpose and focus of the
- 1:56soul. This becomes the organizing
- 1:59principle around which the mental, vital, and physical
- 2:03energies can collect and align themselves to support the soul's
- 2:08intention. The mother observes.
- 2:12Quote. The work of unifying the being
- 2:15consists of 1 becoming aware of 1's psychic being, 2.
- 2:22Putting before the psychic being, as one becomes aware of
- 2:25them all, one's movements, impulses, thoughts, and acts of
- 2:31will, so that the psychic being may accept or reject each of
- 2:35these movements, impulses, thoughts, or acts of will.
- 2:41Those that are accepted will be kept and carried out.
- 2:44Those that are rejected will be driven out of the consciousness
- 2:49so that they may never come back again.
