Transcript
- 0:00BRIAN DERRICK: Oh my God, we just got a new inflation report in.
- 0:05BRIAN DERRICK: I'm Brian Derrick.
- 0:06GLENNIS MEAGHER: And I'm Glennis Meagher.
- 0:08GLENNIS MEAGHER: Welcome to Vibes Only.
- 0:10BRIAN DERRICK: Welcome back.
- 0:11GLENNIS MEAGHER: Welcome back to Vibes Only.
- 0:12BRIAN DERRICK: Glennis is back from my home state of Ohio, where the tailgates showed plenty of spirit for Sherrod Brown, but our creator interviews showed a lot of misinformation on gas prices is sinking in as the war in Iran adds about $2,000 a year to your cost of living.
- 0:28GLENNIS MEAGHER: Trump's answer is buying Russian oil.
- 0:31GLENNIS MEAGHER: It's a political stunt that won't help anyone at the pump.
- 0:34GLENNIS MEAGHER: While he has tripled his net worth and continues to be corrupt as hell-
- 0:39BRIAN DERRICK: Elon has now dropped $370 million in the midterm elections.
- 0:44BRIAN DERRICK: Jon Ossoff destroyed Mike Collins again in their debate.
- 0:50BRIAN DERRICK: The new press secretary called Trump her husband.
- 0:54BRIAN DERRICK: Thom Tillis is on a book tour, lol.
- 0:56GLENNIS MEAGHER: Kimberly Guilfoyle has fallen from grace, and Amy Acton for Ohio governor is our Oath Candidate of the Week.
- 1:03BRIAN DERRICK: Mamdani is ending NYC horse carriages, and out of a million people rallying for Lula in São Paulo, the internet fell in love with one really, really hot guy.
- 1:16GLENNIS MEAGHER: Okay, Brian, let's get into it.
- 1:17BRIAN DERRICK: It's the final countdown.
- 1:21BRIAN DERRICK: Ba-da-na-na.
- 1:22BRIAN DERRICK: Hi, G.
- 1:23GLENNIS MEAGHER: Hey, Brian.
- 1:24GLENNIS MEAGHER: How are you?
- 1:25BRIAN DERRICK: Three weeks to go.
- 1:27BRIAN DERRICK: Not even.
- 1:28GLENNIS MEAGHER: I know.
- 1:29GLENNIS MEAGHER: It's crazy.
- 1:30GLENNIS MEAGHER: I was in Ohio this past weekend.
- 1:33GLENNIS MEAGHER: Can I just say, I didn't realize The Shoe, the stadium for OSU, was that big.
- 1:40GLENNIS MEAGHER: I felt like we were at an NFL arena.
- 1:43BRIAN DERRICK: Yeah.
- 1:44BRIAN DERRICK: Every Saturday- It's- … of my entire college experience was spent at The Shoe.
- 1:48GLENNIS MEAGHER: Wait, I didn't realize you went to OSU.
- 1:50BRIAN DERRICK: Yeah, girl.
- 1:51GLENNIS MEAGHER: Wait, this is- Go
- 1:52BRIAN DERRICK: Bucks… GLENNIS MEAGHER: completely I have a shirt for you.
- 1:55BRIAN DERRICK: I went to Ohio State.
- 1:56BRIAN DERRICK: I was on homecoming court.
- 1:58GLENNIS MEAGHER: Wait, I saw homecoming court people, and I was like, "Royalty." They were like walking past me.
- 2:05BRIAN DERRICK: That was
- 2:05GLENNIS MEAGHER: me.
- 2:06GLENNIS MEAGHER: Wow.
- 2:06GLENNIS MEAGHER: Wow, my mind is blown now that I've been im- immersed- in the tailgate environment.
- 2:11GLENNIS MEAGHER: But we talked to some really, really diehard MAGA people.
- 2:15GLENNIS MEAGHER: It was- Uh-oh … crazy, blaming- Yeah … gas prices on Joe Biden, and when asked about it, having no answer whatsoever.
- 2:23GLENNIS MEAGHER: We also- … Brian, got kicked out of a data center.
- 2:26GLENNIS MEAGHER: That was my first time getting kicked out of a data center.
- 2:27GLENNIS MEAGHER: How'd you
- 2:28BRIAN DERRICK: get into a data center?
- 2:29GLENNIS MEAGHER: They're open.
- 2:31GLENNIS MEAGHER: Like, they're open.
- 2:32GLENNIS MEAGHER: It doesn't say- No, they're not.
- 2:33GLENNIS MEAGHER: Yes, they are.
- 2:34GLENNIS MEAGHER: Yes, they are.
- 2:35GLENNIS MEAGHER: There's no private property anywhere, and this was an Amazon data center.
- 2:38GLENNIS MEAGHER: And we were just in the parking lot, and they had, like, some unmarked car come up and, like, kick us out, recording us.
- 2:45GLENNIS MEAGHER: Very, very sus.
- 2:46GLENNIS MEAGHER: I'm like, "Amazon, what are you hiding? What are you hiding?" Okay, wait.
- 2:48BRIAN DERRICK: So you were, just to clarify , you were in the parking lot?
- 2:52GLENNIS MEAGHER: Correct.
- 2:53BRIAN DERRICK: Not like- Of the data center … in the servers plugging USB sticks in- No, you
- 2:55GLENNIS MEAGHER: can't.
- 2:56BRIAN DERRICK: No … like you're in Mission Impossible.
- 2:57GLENNIS MEAGHER: No.
- 2:58GLENNIS MEAGHER: Yeah, I was not having my, like, Ocean's 8 moment , but- The fuck?
- 3:03GLENNIS MEAGHER: I was in the parking lot, and it was, it escalated very quickly.
- 3:06GLENNIS MEAGHER: And we've been to other data centers where they're just like, "Hey, you can't be here." And we were like, "Okay." And Amazon was like-
- 3:15BRIAN DERRICK: Tased you straight away… GLENNIS MEAGHER: sus.
- 3:17BRIAN DERRICK: And it, I was like, "Bad vibes.
- 3:17BRIAN DERRICK: What are you trying to hide?" But data centers are a huge topic in Ohio, for those who don't know.
- 3:26BRIAN DERRICK: Yeah, for sure.
- 3:27BRIAN DERRICK: Yeah.
- 3:27BRIAN DERRICK: And I'm very glad that you got to experience an Ohio State game, because for people who did not go to state school, it is a different world.
- 3:36BRIAN DERRICK: Politically, culturally- Mm-hmm… it's, it's quite an experience.
- 3:40BRIAN DERRICK: I think everyone should go once.
- 3:42GLENNIS MEAGHER: Mm-hmm.
- 3:42GLENNIS MEAGHER: I'm still like, wow.
- 3:44GLENNIS MEAGHER: I, I was blown away by the stadium and the tailgate zone and the thousands and thousands of people that I interacted with.
- 3:52GLENNIS MEAGHER: And you know what I learned?
- 3:53GLENNIS MEAGHER: That you guys cross all your M's out.
- 3:56BRIAN DERRICK: Yeah.
- 3:56BRIAN DERRICK: Just for the week of- Mm … the week of the Michigan game at Ohio State, every single M on every single sign on all of campus, Ohio State's campus is huge, is crossed out.
- 4:10BRIAN DERRICK: So street signs, building names, any plaque, like literally anything anywhere, the M's all get crossed out the week of the Ohio State game.
- 4:20GLENNIS MEAGHER: Culture.
- 4:21GLENNIS MEAGHER: Culture.
- 4:21GLENNIS MEAGHER: Yeah.
- 4:22GLENNIS MEAGHER: I love it.
- 4:22BRIAN DERRICK: Yeah.
- 4:23BRIAN DERRICK: TBT, I haven't been back in, like, a decade.
- 4:25GLENNIS MEAGHER: Ugh, I should've brought you with me.
- 4:27GLENNIS MEAGHER: Are you kidding me?
- 4:28BRIAN DERRICK: Yeah, that would've been fun.
- 4:29GLENNIS MEAGHER: Okay.
- 4:30BRIAN DERRICK: Well- Would've been fun.
- 4:30BRIAN DERRICK: Next time.
- 4:31GLENNIS MEAGHER: 2028, Brian.
- 4:32BRIAN DERRICK: All right.
- 4:32BRIAN DERRICK: Should we get into all the hot goss of politics this week?
- 4:37BRIAN DERRICK: 'Cause it's very gossipy.
- 4:40GLENNIS MEAGHER: Yeah.
- 4:40GLENNIS MEAGHER: What a week.
- 4:41GLENNIS MEAGHER: Let's, let's get into it.
- 4:43BRIAN DERRICK: Where do we wanna begin?
- 4:45BRIAN DERRICK: Do we wanna start with the text message scandal or the oil scandal or the Elon Musk scandal, or it's just scandal, scandal city.
- 4:56GLENNIS MEAGHER: Maybe we should go with like, uh, kind of gravity.
- 5:00GLENNIS MEAGHER: So like, the oil and Elon Musk to me has direct implications- Mm on every single American's lives.
- 5:09GLENNIS MEAGHER: Whereas Kimberly Guilfoyle saying,"Daddy pay off $100,000 Amex bill," and then getting fired on- Queens… on national television by the new train wreck of a press secretary.
- 5:23GLENNIS MEAGHER: That's fodder for you and I. But let's start with the oil, the diesel.
- 5:27GLENNIS MEAGHER: Okay.
- 5:28BRIAN DERRICK: Yes.
- 5:28BRIAN DERRICK: As we've talked about many times, gas prices are one of the most visible and immediately felt economic indicators in the country.
- 5:38BRIAN DERRICK: Jobs numbers, unless you are personally without a job, are pretty abstract, whereas gas prices you see every day when you're driving, and you feel when you go to the pump once a week.
- 5:51GLENNIS MEAGHER: And diesel specifically, most trucks and any sort of transportation for all of our goods run on diesel.
- 5:59GLENNIS MEAGHER: The current price of diesel is about 6.20 to 6.50 a gallon.
- 6:04GLENNIS MEAGHER: That is one of the reasons why everything is more expensive.
- 6:08BRIAN DERRICK: 100%.
- 6:09BRIAN DERRICK: And so Republicans facing annihilation in the midterms, right?
- 6:16BRIAN DERRICK: Just, just what, where the polling is at is showing horrible numbers for Republicans, are looking for any way to try to chip away at gas prices as a Democratic talking point because, I mean, it's not just a talking point.
- 6:34BRIAN DERRICK: Trump started a war, it closed the Strait of Hormuz - … and gas prices doubled.
- 6:39BRIAN DERRICK: Like, it's very, it's very- Yeah… transparent for anyone to see.
- 6:43GLENNIS MEAGHER: I wanna, I wanna play… We should like, we should roll this clip.
- 6:46GLENNIS MEAGHER: This is one of the clips that we got from this weekend where Eumie, who's like a great creator, asks this OSU fan about… I'll send it to you.
- 6:56GLENNIS MEAGHER: But they, they're not even willing to admit that it's like the reason that gas prices are so high.
- 7:04GLENNIS MEAGHER: Let me p- play it for you.
- 7:05EUMIE SHIN (@EUMIEXX): Can I get your thoughts on gas prices?
- 7:07TRUMP SUPPORTER: They suck.
- 7:08EUMIE SHIN (@EUMIEXX): They fucking suck?
- 7:09TRUMP SUPPORTER: Yeah.
- 7:09EUMIE SHIN (@EUMIEXX): Why is that?
- 7:10TRUMP SUPPORTER: Because they're high as fuck.
- 7:12EUMIE SHIN (@EUMIEXX): Why do you think they're high as fuck?
- 7:14TRUMP SUPPORTER: Um, because we had a Democrat in office for a very, very long time.
- 7:18TRUMP SUPPORTER: I know it's Joe Biden's fault.
- 7:20EUMIE SHIN (@EUMIEXX): Oh, wait, why is that?
- 7:21TRUMP SUPPORTER: Because he's an asshole.
- 7:22EUMIE SHIN (@EUMIEXX): Do you think the war in Iran has anything to do with it?
- 7:24TRUMP SUPPORTER: No.
- 7:24EUMIE SHIN (@EUMIEXX): No?
- 7:25EUMIE SHIN (@EUMIEXX): You don't think so?
- 7:26EUMIE SHIN (@EUMIEXX): You don't think it's like the Strait of Hormuz or anything?
- 7:28TRUMP SUPPORTER: No.
- 7:28TRUMP SUPPORTER: Being a, being a veteran myself, like I served two tours.
- 7:31EUMIE SHIN (@EUMIEXX): Mm-hmm.
- 7:32TRUMP SUPPORTER: So gas prices have really nothing to do with war.
- 7:35EUMIE SHIN (@EUMIEXX): Really?
- 7:36EUMIE SHIN (@EUMIEXX): Ab- You don't think the fact that like the channel where all of the oil goes through, like the fact that that's closed maybe has something to do with rising gas prices?
- 7:43EUMIE SHIN (@EUMIEXX): No.
- 7:43TRUMP SUPPORTER: No.
- 7:44EUMIE SHIN (@EUMIEXX): Really?
- 7:44TRUMP SUPPORTER: No.
- 7:44EUMIE SHIN (@EUMIEXX): So, um, how are the high gas prices Joe Biden's fault?
- 7:47BRIAN DERRICK: Okay.
- 7:48GLENNIS MEAGHER: Yeah.
- 7:48GLENNIS MEAGHER: So anyway- Okay.
- 7:51BRIAN DERRICK: H-
- 7:51GLENNIS MEAGHER: Yes.
- 7:51BRIAN DERRICK: That's so wild.
- 7:53BRIAN DERRICK: That is not our median voter, let me tell you.
- 7:57BRIAN DERRICK: Even in Ohio, that's not a median voter.
- 7:59BRIAN DERRICK: I get to do press control.
- 8:00BRIAN DERRICK: That is a Fox News, Newsmax, OANN Kool-Aid drinker.
- 8:04GLENNIS MEAGHER: Yes.
- 8:05BRIAN DERRICK: Breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
- 8:06GLENNIS MEAGHER: Correct.
- 8:07GLENNIS MEAGHER: Correct.
- 8:07GLENNIS MEAGHER: So that's, that's wild.
- 8:08GLENNIS MEAGHER: However, we know, to your point, that the unconstitutional war in Iran Has made gas prices higher
- 8:17BRIAN DERRICK: Right.
- 8:18BRIAN DERRICK: And that has, as you said, increased the price of everything.
- 8:20BRIAN DERRICK: Just while recording, we got the latest inflation report, and it just jumped again.
- 8:26BRIAN DERRICK: Gas prices up 34%, and that's pushing overall inflation numbers up where we're now almost at double the inflation rate that Biden-- when Biden left office, which is obviously what so directly undercuts the argument that it was Joe Biden's fault.
- 8:42BRIAN DERRICK: That's-- it's just, like, silly in every sort of possible respect.
- 8:46GLENNIS MEAGHER: The Republicans have a huge problem on their hands.
- 8:49GLENNIS MEAGHER: Because of the unconstitutional war and all of the bullshit that Trump has put us through and other countries through, our cost of living is markedly higher.
- 8:58GLENNIS MEAGHER: So Trump, the man who said that he would end the war between Russia and Ukraine in twenty-four hours, cut to two, two years later, it's still raging.
- 9:12GLENNIS MEAGHER: Hundreds of thousands of people have died.
- 9:14GLENNIS MEAGHER: Aligning the United States of America with Russia To end sanctions on Russian gas exports, gas and diesel exports, and said, "You know what? Actually, we're gonna take 300,000 tons of Russian diesel to lower…" Which we obviously know is to attempt to lower the cost of diesel for Americans, for the world.
- 9:38GLENNIS MEAGHER: But now we are aligning ourselves.
- 9:40GLENNIS MEAGHER: It is the most undemocratic- Yeah … un-American thing possible.
- 9:44BRIAN DERRICK: But I just wanna be clear, we're not taking it, we're buying it.
- 9:46BRIAN DERRICK: We're gonna give Russia- We're buying it … who we are sanctioning the shit out of currently- Mm-hmm … a bunch of money.
- 9:54BRIAN DERRICK: Like, the, it's-
- 9:55GLENNIS MEAGHER: To kill more Ukrainians
- 9:56BRIAN DERRICK: it's the opposite.
- 9:57BRIAN DERRICK: Ex- it's a, it's funding Russia's war against Ukraine in order to do nothing.
- 10:03BRIAN DERRICK: It's a political stunt.
- 10:04BRIAN DERRICK: It's less than one day of diesel in the US.
- 10:09BRIAN DERRICK: Like, it, it would not even scratch the surface of the amount required to start reducing prices.
- 10:15BRIAN DERRICK: And so Trump had a little bit of, like, a one, two, three, four blunder.
- 10:20BRIAN DERRICK: Kind of a like, all, all in a row, just dominoes.
- 10:24BRIAN DERRICK: So said that he was going to buy all of this Russian diesel.
- 10:29BRIAN DERRICK: Republican senators immediately started coming out saying,"Absolutely not. We're introducing a bill to stop this. No fucking way." Yeah.
- 10:36BRIAN DERRICK: Then he tweeted or whatever the hell about, um- Truth … Zelenskyy saying Ukra- Ukraine needs a new leader.
- 10:43BRIAN DERRICK: Um- I saw that … and that they should take any deal that Russia offers them.
- 10:48BRIAN DERRICK: And then he wrote off a bunch of reports that are showing how Russia is funding the war in Iran and giving them classified intel on US troop movements and placements to help Iran- Wow … attack the US in the Middle East.
- 11:07BRIAN DERRICK: And then he doubled down when all these Repu- Republican senators said, "Absolutely we cannot fund Russia's global violence through purchasing diesel." He said, "Nope. We're gonna give 'em a bunch of money." So it's overall been a horrific week for foreign affairs for the US, and T- Trump just continuing to dig himself a hole.
- 11:32GLENNIS MEAGHER: I mean, Trump hates America.
- 11:34GLENNIS MEAGHER: He hates you, he hates America.
- 11:35GLENNIS MEAGHER: He only loves himself and his family and the people that he can personally enrich with his actions.
- 11:39BRIAN DERRICK: Me, me personally or everyone listening?
- 11:42GLENNIS MEAGHER: Everyone.
- 11:43GLENNIS MEAGHER: Trump hates everyone.
- 11:44BRIAN DERRICK: Like, okay, that's kind of mean for a Wednesday morning.
- 11:49GLENNIS MEAGHER: He does
- 11:49BRIAN DERRICK: though.
- 11:50BRIAN DERRICK: Maybe Trump hates you, Glennis.
- 11:51GLENNIS MEAGHER: He for sure hates me.
- 11:53GLENNIS MEAGHER: I'm a strong, independent woman.
- 11:56GLENNIS MEAGHER: Of course he hates me.
- 11:58GLENNIS MEAGHER: Like- Everything he does is deeply anti-American, and it, I just don't understand how any MAGA Republican is like, "He's my man.
- 12:08GLENNIS MEAGHER: He's my man."
- 12:09BRIAN DERRICK: Well, should we talk about the public execution?
- 12:13GLENNIS MEAGHER: You know, I feel bad 'cause we were talking about a firing squad at the end of last week's episode because- Oh, no … we were talking about the death
- 12:20BRIAN DERRICK: penalty.
- 12:20BRIAN DERRICK: I was talking about the- Um … Ossoff-Mike Collins debate.
- 12:23GLENNIS MEAGHER: Oh, okay.
- 12:23GLENNIS MEAGHER: But, um- I thought you… Okay, I thought you were gonna talk about the fact that the United States government plans on live streaming a firing squad.
- 12:31GLENNIS MEAGHER: But let's table that- … 'cause that's just dark sided, uh, and deeply depressing, and let's talk about Georgia.
- 12:39BRIAN DERRICK: Yeah.
- 12:39BRIAN DERRICK: I mean, we, we got another debate last night, Mike Collins v Jon Ossoff, and then there was also another Troy Jackson, Susan Collins debate.
- 12:49BRIAN DERRICK: And I think we had… Oh yeah, and Ashley Hinson versus Josh Turek in Iowa.
- 12:53BRIAN DERRICK: Yeah.
- 12:53BRIAN DERRICK: So three battleground Senate debates.
- 12:57BRIAN DERRICK: Ossoff is definitely the best one to watch- Mm … because it is like watching… You know how whenever the Olympics are on, people are always like, "We should put a normal person to run next to them- … so we can see how fast they really are."
- 13:13GLENNIS MEAGHER: Yeah.
- 13:13BRIAN DERRICK: That is like watching Mike Collins debate Jon Ossoff.
- 13:17BRIAN DERRICK: Yeah.
- 13:17BRIAN DERRICK: It is an Olympian dismembering someone on stage on live television.
- 13:24BRIAN DERRICK: It's really wild to watch.
- 13:27JON OSSOFF: It's worth reminding everybody that while you pay more for everything, when it costs more than any time in American history to power your home, stock your fridge, fill up your truck because of the tariffs Mike Collins voted for, because of the war Mike Collins continues to defend, because of the healthcare cuts he voted for, Donald Trump is enriching himself and his family to the tune of billions of dollars.
- 13:56JON OSSOFF: I wonder if Mike Collins can defend that.
- 13:58JON OSSOFF: I wonder if Mike Collins can defend voting to double your health insurance premiums.
- 14:05JON OSSOFF: You didn't explain it last week, Mike.
- 14:07JON OSSOFF: Why did you vote to double health insurance premiums for your own constituents?
- 14:11JON OSSOFF: Repres- thank you, Rep-
- 14:12BRIAN DERRICK: I don't know who was on Mike Collins' team.
- 14:15BRIAN DERRICK: They've never- Do you- … done debate prep before in their life.
- 14:19BRIAN DERRICK: Let me tell you, it's-
- 14:20GLENNIS MEAGHER: Yeah… BRIAN DERRICK: it's really bad.
- 14:22GLENNIS MEAGHER: And how about the other ones?
- 14:23GLENNIS MEAGHER: Josh Turek is a actual former Olympian.
- 14:26GLENNIS MEAGHER: Um, how did he do?
- 14:26BRIAN DERRICK: Yeah.
- 14:27BRIAN DERRICK: I didn't watch the whole thing.
- 14:28BRIAN DERRICK: I saw clips.
- 14:29BRIAN DERRICK: Fine.
- 14:29BRIAN DERRICK: I think he, I think he's- I mean, Ash- I think he's good.
- 14:31BRIAN DERRICK: He's solid.
- 14:31BRIAN DERRICK: The, the trick of running in a place like an Ohio or an Iowa, and we, we've kind of talked about this before, is that at least in recent history Voters really like a sleepy milquetoast candidate, and getting a fiery, fiery sparks at a debate isn't actually necessarily what the strategy is to try to win over these voters that generally don't like either party and generally think that DC is a swampland and like blah, blah, blah.
- 15:02BRIAN DERRICK: So an Abdul El-Sayed type of confrontation or sort of Jon Ossoff level of throwing haymakers may not be the best path for them, but it certainly didn't have the virality.
- 15:17GLENNIS MEAGHER: Sure.
- 15:18GLENNIS MEAGHER: Right.
- 15:18GLENNIS MEAGHER: Okay.
- 15:19BRIAN DERRICK: He did bait Ashley Hinson into some important errors that they can throw into their ads- Great … and whatnot moving forward.
- 15:27BRIAN DERRICK: Yeah.
- 15:27GLENNIS MEAGHER: She's a train wreck.
- 15:28GLENNIS MEAGHER: Okay.
- 15:30GLENNIS MEAGHER: I have to watch the debate.
- 15:31GLENNIS MEAGHER: I'm going to Georgia this weekend, so I will watch the debate.
- 15:35GLENNIS MEAGHER: I mean, he's a great orator.
- 15:36GLENNIS MEAGHER: He's a great orator, which is an extremely important characteristic to have as a politician in this media environment.
- 15:43BRIAN DERRICK: Yeah.
- 15:44BRIAN DERRICK: Tea.
- 15:44BRIAN DERRICK: Okay, let's talk about Elon Musk.
- 15:46GLENNIS MEAGHER: Ugh, what a piece of shit.
- 15:48GLENNIS MEAGHER: So in case you missed it, The New York Times had new reporting on Monday.
- 15:52GLENNIS MEAGHER: This is the man, Brian, who said, "I'm gonna pull back." After DOGE and how everyone was like, "You're a piece of shit.
- 15:59GLENNIS MEAGHER: We hate you," and then the whole meltdown, lest we forget the 24-hour like Twitter battle between Elon Musk and Trump or Truth Social battle, whatever that was.
- 16:08GLENNIS MEAGHER: He has now, since July Put in an additional $276 million?
- 16:17BRIAN DERRICK: Yeah.
- 16:17BRIAN DERRICK: Crazy, crazy.
- 16:18BRIAN DERRICK: I know that we talk about these huge numbers in campaigns all the time, and I think it's hard for people to really conceptualize what a big amount of money is when we're always talking in the millions or hundreds of millions of dollars.
- 16:31BRIAN DERRICK: This is unprecedented spending, especially for a midterm cycle.
- 16:35BRIAN DERRICK: Barack Obama's entire 2012 re-election campaign, a presidential campaign, cost about 750 million.
- 16:46BRIAN DERRICK: And so for some-- for an individual person to spend$370 million is insane.
- 16:52BRIAN DERRICK: It's why on Oath we launched the Everyone vs.
- 16:56BRIAN DERRICK: Elon campaign because- Hmm that's what it really feels like.
- 17:00BRIAN DERRICK: It takes all of us just to counteract the weight of one man.
- 17:04BRIAN DERRICK: And there's a lot of reasons why a lot of that money's actually gonna be set on fire, and it's actually going to, like, consultants and things that aren't gonna change the actual, like- Yeah … electoral map.
- 17:14BRIAN DERRICK: But it's still horrifying and points to how broken our system is, that one person can do that.
- 17:20GLENNIS MEAGHER: Yeah, I was reading this morning, I mean, 76 million of it is going to door-knocking, 20 million went to the Congressional Leadership Fund, and that's for House Republicans, 10 million to Lone Star Liberty PAC in support of Ken Paxton.
- 17:34GLENNIS MEAGHER: Good luck with that.
- 17:35GLENNIS MEAGHER: 10 million to Republican Governors Association, and two million to the Republican AGs.
- 17:41GLENNIS MEAGHER: You, you had posted on, on Instagram, like, "Vote like you're being robbed in broad daylight." And when you, when you put all of the pieces together of this, like, blatant corruption across the board, whether it be Elon Musk single-handedly putting in $276 million, and then his companies over the course of the last two years getting at least eight billion dollars in government contracts, like that should chap everyone's ass.
- 18:07GLENNIS MEAGHER: While also, while he was in government dismantling some of our most important civic offices.
- 18:15BRIAN DERRICK: Right.
- 18:16GLENNIS MEAGHER: Or, you know, I heard on the news yesterday, on NPR, that MAGA Inc. spent another 10 million of taxpayer dollars on Trump ads.
- 18:26GLENNIS MEAGHER: They said they were gonna stop doing that.
- 18:28GLENNIS MEAGHER: That's more money.
- 18:29GLENNIS MEAGHER: It's just so ridiculous.
- 18:35GLENNIS MEAGHER: So vote like you're being robbed in broad daylight.
- 18:38BRIAN DERRICK: Yeah, you're, you're right because we, we really are.
- 18:40BRIAN DERRICK: It's horrifying and frustrating the many thousands of dollars that-- of my personal tax money that is being driven directly into the bank accounts of Trump's family and his biggest donors.
- 18:57BRIAN DERRICK: It's horrifying to me.
- 18:58BRIAN DERRICK: And we have the chance to put a serious-
- 19:03GLENNIS MEAGHER: Stopgap on it.
- 19:04BRIAN DERRICK: Yeah … block on, on their ability to do that.
- 19:07BRIAN DERRICK: There's been a, a less of a focus than I expected maybe on the big beautiful bill in the midterms.
- 19:14BRIAN DERRICK: But every single tax bracket is paying more under Donald Trump except for the top 10%.
- 19:23KATIE ZACHARIA: Yeah.
- 19:23BRIAN DERRICK: Like everyone else is screwed.
- 19:25BRIAN DERRICK: That's why we're being robbed in, in broad daylight, is they're cutting our services and taking more money from you.
- 19:33BRIAN DERRICK: Like that's what's so infuriating.
- 19:35GLENNIS MEAGHER: Yeah.
- 19:36GLENNIS MEAGHER: I think also with the big beautiful bill, MAGA murder budget, whatever you wanna call it, a lot of those tax incentives don't go into place, and for the top 10% and the losses for the rest of us don't go into place until 2027.
- 19:50GLENNIS MEAGHER: And they did that strategically and deliberately so that when people were going to the polls in 2026, they wouldn't feel the hit that this bill is going to give them with regards to their take-home money at the end of the day.
- 20:04GLENNIS MEAGHER: Right.
- 20:07BRIAN DERRICK: Aye, aye, aye.
- 20:08GLENNIS MEAGHER: Aye, aye, aye.
- 20:08GLENNIS MEAGHER: Wait, can we talk shit for one second?
- 20:12BRIAN DERRICK: Tummy
- 20:13GLENNIS MEAGHER: Did you see the new press secretary's first press- I've, uh- conference yesterday?
- 20:20GLENNIS MEAGHER: And then it was like a double whammy, and then they announced, like, the new ambassador at large for human trafficking.
- 20:25GLENNIS MEAGHER: Did you see this?
- 20:26BRIAN DERRICK: I saw a press release about the ambassador thing, and I saw clips of the first press conference, but I need to watch the whole thing.
- 20:35BRIAN DERRICK: I, I heard it's very short because they just, she pulled the rip cord and, and ran away.
- 20:40BRIAN DERRICK: But
- 20:40EUMIE SHIN (@EUMIEXX): yikes.
- 20:40GLENNIS MEAGHER: It was really, really, really bad.
- 20:43GLENNIS MEAGHER: It kinda reminded me of that, like, Miss America competition when the woman, like, really just, like, can't… I feel, I feel bad.
- 20:50GLENNIS MEAGHER: But, like, being the empath that I am, I was like, "Wow, this is the worst moment in this woman's life." Like, she was reading, she was reading, like, you know, in parentheses they'll have, like, how you should, uh, deliver the line, and it was like,"With energy and excitement." And she was like- No … "With energy and excitement, we say…" Yeah.
- 21:10GLENNIS MEAGHER: No.
- 21:10GLENNIS MEAGHER: Yeah, it was so bad.
- 21:11GLENNIS MEAGHER: And then she had a gaffe where she was talking, like, someone was like, "Are you gonna be home t- be at home at night for your kids or whatever?" And she's like, "Well, my, my president, uh, uh, ooh, I mean my husband, ha, ha, ha."
- 21:23KATIE ZACHARIA: I adore my family.
- 21:24KATIE ZACHARIA: I love them.
- 21:25KATIE ZACHARIA: They are my priority.
- 21:27KATIE ZACHARIA: They, I, I love being with my kids.
- 21:29KATIE ZACHARIA: The idea of not spending evenings with my kid, uh, kids are, is completely, uh, unacceptable.
- 21:35KATIE ZACHARIA: So my president, or excuse me, my husband, uh, that's a, that's a good one.
- 21:40KATIE ZACHARIA: My husband is-
- 21:41GLENNIS MEAGHER: Like, totally gaffed who her husband was.
- 21:44GLENNIS MEAGHER: So amateur.
- 21:45GLENNIS MEAGHER: So amateur.
- 21:47GLENNIS MEAGHER: Wow.
- 21:47GLENNIS MEAGHER: Like, so mortifying.
- 21:49GLENNIS MEAGHER: But we gotta take the wins.
- 21:50BRIAN DERRICK: It does say a lot that they threw her up there her second day o- on the job after being announced.
- 22:01BRIAN DERRICK: And I think that that's noteworthy, not because it explains why she was bad, but because it explains their expectations.
- 22:08BRIAN DERRICK: Their expectations of the press secretary role- Mm are that you already have the talking points.
- 22:15BRIAN DERRICK: You don't need to know anything new.
- 22:17BRIAN DERRICK: You don't need to know anything that's actually going on in the administration.
- 22:20BRIAN DERRICK: You don't need any onboarding or training, because your job is to get up there and lie and defend- Mm-hmm … every single thing that Donald Trump says or does, no matter what it is, and make it sound true and make it sound right.
- 22:37BRIAN DERRICK: And so- Well … why would you need a week to prepare on every individual update on every agency in the federal government so that you can answer questions about it, which is your actual job?
- 22:49BRIAN DERRICK: Why would you need to do that if your job is to get up there and say, "Donald Trump was right.
- 22:53BRIAN DERRICK: Democrats are the problem.
- 22:55BRIAN DERRICK: You guys are fake news"?
- 22:57BRIAN DERRICK: Like, that's what they
- 22:58GLENNIS MEAGHER: think- She's not even there yet… BRIAN DERRICK: the job is.
- 23:00GLENNIS MEAGHER: I know.
- 23:01BRIAN DERRICK: Right.
- 23:01GLENNIS MEAGHER: Right.
- 23:01GLENNIS MEAGHER: She's gotta go work on that.
- 23:03GLENNIS MEAGHER: She's gotta go work on that because it was a little too feeble and unprepared.
- 23:08GLENNIS MEAGHER: There was no, like, delusions of grandeur, and there was no, like- True excitement for the lies.
- 23:16GLENNIS MEAGHER: It was just, it was bad.
- 23:17GLENNIS MEAGHER: Um- Right.
- 23:18GLENNIS MEAGHER: I mean,
- 23:18BRIAN DERRICK: you have to be a sociopath to- Totally … lie instinctually without blinking.
- 23:24BRIAN DERRICK: Totally.
- 23:25BRIAN DERRICK: Or, or with any, with no kind of like prep or, or training.
- 23:28BRIAN DERRICK: Like Karoline Leavitt I'd be a sociopath.
- 23:34BRIAN DERRICK: Like, like it-
- 23:35GLENNIS MEAGHER: No, totally
- 23:36BRIAN DERRICK: It's a
- 23:36GLENNIS MEAGHER: gift Well, psycho maybe.
- 23:37BRIAN DERRICK: But, um- And you
- 23:38GLENNIS MEAGHER: know what?
- 23:38BRIAN DERRICK: Regardless.
- 23:38GLENNIS MEAGHER: Karoline Leavitt was and is violent with her words and actions, and the fact that she glossed over so many things that directly or indirectly killed American citizens, so…
- 23:50BRIAN DERRICK: Somebody asked me to do a panel with Karine Jean-Pierre-
- 23:54GLENNIS MEAGHER: Oh
- 23:54BRIAN DERRICK: in a couple of weeks.
- 23:56BRIAN DERRICK: And I said, "Are you trying to get covered on TMZ?
- 24:01BRIAN DERRICK: Because there's about to be a, a literal fight if you think that I'm gonna-" Yeah "… sit on a panel with her and not say anything." Holy shit.
- 24:11GLENNIS MEAGHER: Yeah.
- 24:12GLENNIS MEAGHER: For those who for- forgot, she wrote a book.
- 24:14BRIAN DERRICK: Yeah, that was Biden's press secretary who then wrote a book.
- 24:16GLENNIS MEAGHER: Don't give anyone any more pens to write a book.
- 24:19BRIAN DERRICK: Oh my God.
- 24:20BRIAN DERRICK: Like, it's over.
- 24:20BRIAN DERRICK: Especially Thom Tillis, the worst- Did he
- 24:23GLENNIS MEAGHER: write a book?
- 24:24GLENNIS MEAGHER: … BRIAN DERRICK: press tour Yes.
- 24:28GLENNIS MEAGHER: And he went on tour trying to be like, "I'm the sane one.
- 24:31GLENNIS MEAGHER: We have to bring everyone back to the middle." And everyone's like, "You voted for Pete Hegseth.
- 24:36GLENNIS MEAGHER: How's that going?" Yeah.
- 24:37GLENNIS MEAGHER: Like, like they tore him- Yeah … apart.
- 24:40GLENNIS MEAGHER: Okay, we have to talk about my new hero.
- 24:43GLENNIS MEAGHER: I saw this in the show notes and, uh, I, I need a full too long, didn't read.
- 24:48GLENNIS MEAGHER: I don't know who this
- 24:49BRIAN DERRICK: is.
- 24:50BRIAN DERRICK: It's been a while since something has… Two, two things actually have gone explosively viral in my internet.
- 25:00GLENNIS MEAGHER: Okay.
- 25:00BRIAN DERRICK: One is the hot guy from the Lula rally in Brazil.
- 25:06BRIAN DERRICK: You didn't see this?
- 25:07GLENNIS MEAGHER: Never heard of him.
- 25:08GLENNIS MEAGHER: No.
- 25:08BRIAN DERRICK: Holy- This
- 25:09GLENNIS MEAGHER: is very, this is very
- 25:10BRIAN DERRICK: man- There is a rally- Okay.
- 25:11GLENNIS MEAGHER: Okay.
- 25:12GLENNIS MEAGHER: Masked shirtless protester becomes Brazil's internet crush at Lula rally.
- 25:17GLENNIS MEAGHER: This
- 25:17BRIAN DERRICK: guy?
- 25:17BRIAN DERRICK: Not just Brazil.
- 25:18BRIAN DERRICK: The world's internet crush.
- 25:19BRIAN DERRICK: Yes, that guy.
- 25:20GLENNIS MEAGHER: Um- You guys are so stupid.
- 25:23GLENNIS MEAGHER: Oh my God.
- 25:25BRIAN DERRICK: Okay.
- 25:25BRIAN DERRICK: He got, he got, like, 250,000 Instagram followers overnight because he was hot.
- 25:29BRIAN DERRICK: Hold-
- 25:29GLENNIS MEAGHER: The hottie from Paulista… BRIAN DERRICK: standing up a Brazilian flag, whatever.
- 25:35GLENNIS MEAGHER: Okay, so that went super viral.
- 25:37GLENNIS MEAGHER: And then the second thing to go viral is a woman who's running for city council in Indiana last night showed up to a candidate forum, and she gave an interview, and she's slurring her words, and the internet is ablaze with clips from this thing.
- 25:56GLENNIS MEAGHER: One of the questions is, what would you do in office that not all of your voters would agree with?
- 26:02GLENNIS MEAGHER: And she thinks about it- Wait, she a Republican or Democrat?
- 26:04BRIAN DERRICK: Democrat.
- 26:05GLENNIS MEAGHER: Oh, God.
- 26:06GLENNIS MEAGHER: Okay.
- 26:06BRIAN DERRICK: This is either gonna really help her or really hurt her.
- 26:09BRIAN DERRICK: She goes, "Huh?" And she has to re-ask the question 'cause she forgets what the question was.
- 26:14BRIAN DERRICK: Oh, my God.
- 26:14BRIAN DERRICK: And then they, and then they reestablish what the question is, and she goes, "Fire all the Republicans." "I don't like them." Honestly, though.
- 26:22BRIAN DERRICK: "I don't talk to them. I really don't want to see them." She gives the most unhinged responses.
- 26:30BRIAN DERRICK: And then at the end they go,"Is there anything else that your voters should know?" And she thinks about it and goes, "We got guns, too."
- 26:39JAIME WEST: What is the one decision that I would make?
- 26:43JAIME WEST: Hmm Repeat that again.
- 26:46JAIME WEST: What is the one decision that I would make that n- might not be popular with Fayette County?
- 26:49JAIME WEST: Right, that may be
- 26:50MODERATOR: unpopular-
- 26:51JAIME WEST: Correct … with some voters Unpopular with some voters.
- 26:52MODERATOR: But is in the best interest of the county.
- 26:54JAIME WEST: Mm.
- 26:58JAIME WEST: Firing all Republicans.
- 27:00JAIME WEST: I wouldn't let them, I mean, I don't even talk to them.
- 27:05JAIME WEST: I don't like them.
- 27:06JAIME WEST: But, you know, what are you gonna do?
- 27:09MODERATOR: Well, that brings us to, um, your opportunity to, um, say just a few last words to, um, to the voters.
- 27:16MODERATOR: Hmm
- 27:19JAIME WEST: We have guns too
- 27:22MODERATOR: All right.
- 27:23MODERATOR: Well, as a reminder, the general election is November 3rd.
- 27:26MODERATOR: Early voting began October 6th.
- 27:30GLENNIS MEAGHER: Oh my
- 27:32BRIAN DERRICK: God.
- 27:32BRIAN DERRICK: It is a truly wild interview.
- 27:33BRIAN DERRICK: She's a small business owner.
- 27:35BRIAN DERRICK: She runs her own cleaning business, uh, in Indiana.
- 27:39BRIAN DERRICK: Pretty wild stuff.
- 27:42GLENNIS MEAGHER: Honestly, let's see how the message lands.
- 27:44GLENNIS MEAGHER: Let's see.
- 27:45GLENNIS MEAGHER: Maybe people are like,"Yeah, we do have guns too."
- 27:48BRIAN DERRICK: Watch it if you need a little, a little laugh today.
- 27:51GLENNIS MEAGHER: Do you think she's gonna have to do, like, a crisis comms tour and be like, "I'm seeking help"?
- 27:57BRIAN DERRICK: Oh, I
- 27:57GLENNIS MEAGHER: think she's gonna be-
- 27:58BRIAN DERRICK: Or is it just-… like, a superstar of the internet.
- 27:59GLENNIS MEAGHER: Okay.
- 28:00GLENNIS MEAGHER: Wait.
- 28:00GLENNIS MEAGHER: Also, I just opened Threads, which I never do.
- 28:03GLENNIS MEAGHER: Of course, the first link for this masked protester, and I see why people are in a frenzy about him.
- 28:10GLENNIS MEAGHER: He- He's hot.
- 28:12GLENNIS MEAGHER: You can't even see his face.
- 28:13GLENNIS MEAGHER: You're just, like, commenting on his body, which is-
- 28:15BRIAN DERRICK: I saw his face 'cause it was revealed later who he was.
- 28:18GLENNIS MEAGHER: Oh.
- 28:18BRIAN DERRICK: And he
- 28:19GLENNIS MEAGHER: is- Is this in New York or Brazil?
- 28:20BRIAN DERRICK: Brazil.
- 28:21GLENNIS MEAGHER: Oh, okay.
- 28:22BRIAN DERRICK: Babe.
- 28:22BRIAN DERRICK: What?
- 28:23BRIAN DERRICK: I would already be dating him if it was in New York.
- 28:26GLENNIS MEAGHER: You'd be like,"Knock, knock. I found you." I got assaulted with… I, I feel bad commenting on this woman's face, but at the end of the day, it is gender-affirming care what she's done to her face.
- 28:37GLENNIS MEAGHER: Have you seen the… This is the new-
- 28:41BRIAN DERRICK: Human
- 28:41GLENNIS MEAGHER: trafficking zone … it's
- 28:42BRIAN DERRICK: not right.
- 28:42BRIAN DERRICK: Is that the human trafficking zone?
- 28:43GLENNIS MEAGHER: Yeah.
- 28:45GLENNIS MEAGHER: There's so many, like, bad jokes to be made about that and… So this one is all over my For You page.
- 28:50GLENNIS MEAGHER: Have you seen this?
- 28:52GLENNIS MEAGHER: It's, like, a drag queen getting ready.
- 28:53GLENNIS MEAGHER: No.
- 28:53GLENNIS MEAGHER: And it's like, "This person has made a plan to vote.
- 28:55GLENNIS MEAGHER: Did you?" And it's like, "Yes, queen, I have." Like, this makes me wanna vote more.
- 29:00BRIAN DERRICK: I don't think you're the target audience for that content.
- 29:03GLENNIS MEAGHER: I know.
- 29:04GLENNIS MEAGHER: I know.
- 29:05GLENNIS MEAGHER: I know.
- 29:06GLENNIS MEAGHER: She must have had, like, multiple face lifts, and then finally got, like, an upper face lift, and they've made her forehead at least, like, four inches larger.
- 29:17GLENNIS MEAGHER: It's literally crazy, and I, I, I feel… Again, I feel bad making fun of someone and the way they look, but at the end of the day, all of these MAGA Republican women have gender-affirming care.
- 29:27BRIAN DERRICK: T. T. Did we already talk about Kimberly Guilfoyle or no?
- 29:32GLENNIS MEAGHER: Round it out really fast.
- 29:33GLENNIS MEAGHER: Kimberly Guilfoyle has fallen from grace.
- 29:36GLENNIS MEAGHER: She was fired, presumably on live television, by this new train wreck of a press secretary, and said that the Trump administration thanks her for her service.
- 29:46GLENNIS MEAGHER: She was the ambassador to Greece, and was named the ambassador to Greece shortly after being broken up with by one of the Trump sons.
- 29:53GLENNIS MEAGHER: I don't recall which one.
- 29:54GLENNIS MEAGHER: She got caught red-handed because of a leaked text showing she asked a donor to forgive a $100,000 Amex bill, which for those who are new in class, that is a bribe, a textbook bribe from a government official.
- 30:11GLENNIS MEAGHER: So.
- 30:12BRIAN DERRICK: Yia.
- 30:13BRIAN DERRICK: I think that's how you say bye in Greek.
- 30:15BRIAN DERRICK: I just Googled it.
- 30:16BRIAN DERRICK: Someone who speaks Greek- Oh … hit me up.
- 30:19BRIAN DERRICK: Let me know if that's right.
- 30:19BRIAN DERRICK: So embarrassing.
- 30:21BRIAN DERRICK: One of the most most comical cartoonish examples- Mm-hmm … of corruption that we've seen in the last 30 years.
- 30:33BRIAN DERRICK: And she's the president's daughter-in-law now?
- 30:36GLENNIS MEAGHER: Their engagement got broken off by one of them, and then soon after, her consolation prize for her loyalty or whatever was to become the ambassador to Greece.
- 30:46BRIAN DERRICK: Oh, I missed that.
- 30:47BRIAN DERRICK: Okay.
- 30:47BRIAN DERRICK: Got it.
- 30:47GLENNIS MEAGHER: Yeah.
- 30:47GLENNIS MEAGHER: No, I'm almost positive she was with the Trump son who just had that Russian wedding, the wedding that was funded by a Russian oligarch.
- 30:56GLENNIS MEAGHER: He
- 30:56BRIAN DERRICK: married someone else.
- 30:57GLENNIS MEAGHER: He married someone else.
- 30:59BRIAN DERRICK: Oh, so when did they break up?
- 31:02GLENNIS MEAGHER: Right before she became ambassador to Greece.
- 31:05BRIAN DERRICK: But that would've been, like, within the last 18 months.
- 31:07BRIAN DERRICK: You're saying that this, this Trump son was dating this woman as of inauguration, broke up with this woman less than two years ago, started dating a new woman, got engaged to her, and married her.
- 31:20BRIAN DERRICK: Is that what you're telling me?
- 31:21GLENNIS MEAGHER: Yeah.
- 31:22GLENNIS MEAGHER: I mean, we
- 31:22BRIAN DERRICK: have to fact-check
- 31:23GLENNIS MEAGHER: it.
- 31:23BRIAN DERRICK: In a Russian-sponsored wedding?
- 31:25BRIAN DERRICK: I didn't know any of
- 31:25GLENNIS MEAGHER: this.
- 31:26GLENNIS MEAGHER: Yeah.
- 31:26BRIAN DERRICK: I thought- Yeah … that she was the one in the Russian wedding.
- 31:29GLENNIS MEAGHER: No, no.
- 31:29GLENNIS MEAGHER: He met some, like, Floridian- Oh, yeah … socialite and model.
- 31:32BRIAN DERRICK: Okay.
- 31:33GLENNIS MEAGHER: And someone made this cut online.
- 31:35GLENNIS MEAGHER: When, you know how she's, like, infamous for being like, "The best is yet to come," and then it's her getting fired, so.
- 31:43BRIAN DERRICK: That's amazing.
- 31:44BRIAN DERRICK: Here's what I will say on a serious note is- Mm-hmm corruption, it has not been a major motivating voting issue in the US for a while.
- 31:56BRIAN DERRICK: Yeah.
- 31:57BRIAN DERRICK: And we've had a corruption issue.
- 31:59BRIAN DERRICK: We've needed to ban stock trading and all of these things for a while, and yet it- Mm-hmm … hasn't changed people's support of mostly corrupt Republicans, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
- 32:06BRIAN DERRICK: But, like, sure, we can both sides it, whatever.
- 32:08BRIAN DERRICK: It's breaking through the cycle in a way that we have not seen.
- 32:12BRIAN DERRICK: One, the first, the first reason is just the scale of the corruption, that there's, like, a, a true departure in just the amount and brazenness of the corruption going on.
- 32:23BRIAN DERRICK: Trump tripling his net worth in two years is why.
- 32:27BRIAN DERRICK: And the way that that's been able to break through is that the style of the corruption that's happening is so housewives and so Bravo- Yeah that it is easy for people to understand.
- 32:45BRIAN DERRICK: It's, like, kind of funny to, to, to talk about, although the, the, the substance of it's not funny at all, and it's memorable.
- 32:54BRIAN DERRICK: And so Kimberly Guilfoyle texting,"Daddy, please pay my Amex bill.
- 33:01BRIAN DERRICK: Don't put this in a Signal, LOL," or whatever, it's, like, cartoonish.
- 33:07BRIAN DERRICK: It's something that you would watch on a reality show, and that's one of the reasons that it's breaking through because anyone can go recount that story, whereas if I ask you to tell someone about Nancy Pelosi's stock trades or whatever- Mm-hmm that have been an issue, that have been at issue for, for years Then it's kind of like, well, she did some stuff she, she shouldn't have done.
- 33:29BRIAN DERRICK: She probably knew some information, and then it was the husband's broker.
- 33:33BRIAN DERRICK: Like, it's like, what?
- 33:34BRIAN DERRICK: You know what I mean?
- 33:34BRIAN DERRICK: Like, it doesn't stick in the same way.
- 33:37BRIAN DERRICK: But the whole conversation we, that we just had about the president's slutty son Treating these women this way and the women being- Yeah like absolute-
- 33:48GLENNIS MEAGHER: Scapegoats.
- 33:50BRIAN DERRICK: Also- Scapegoats, but also just morally bankrupt-
- 33:53GLENNIS MEAGHER: Yes.
- 33:54BRIAN DERRICK: Just- Yeah … openly, brazenly so corrupt- Yeah … is what makes this all sticky in the minds of voters, and why people are gonna punish Republicans in November like never before.
- 34:04GLENNIS MEAGHER: Yeah.
- 34:05GLENNIS MEAGHER: And just to add to that, one, we have seen with the Trump administration it is always the women first to fall and be thrown under the bus.
- 34:11GLENNIS MEAGHER: That's just- Right … the, the nature of the misogynistic administration that he has created.
- 34:16GLENNIS MEAGHER: But then also, to add to that, the corruption is directly tied to the cost of living in America.
- 34:23GLENNIS MEAGHER: Like, we're seeing it, people are seeing it, they're feeling it.
- 34:26GLENNIS MEAGHER: And because those two are tied, because the corruption is really tangible, to your point, and you can see it online in a, in a 90-second clip and totally understand what is happening, and see that Kimberly Guilfoyle can text someone for a, an Amex bill to be written off at the c- like, at $100,000 is a lot of money.
- 34:45GLENNIS MEAGHER: And then to see a news clip saying that because of the war in Iran, your cost of living per household has gone up at least $2,000.
- 34:52GLENNIS MEAGHER: Like, people feel it.
- 34:54GLENNIS MEAGHER: 100. And they're gonna hopefully- Yeah … bring that to the, to the ballot box.
- 34:59BRIAN DERRICK: Get 'em.
- 34:59BRIAN DERRICK: Get 'em.
- 35:00GLENNIS MEAGHER: Before November 3rd,'cause everyone should early vote.
- 35:03BRIAN DERRICK: That's right.
- 35:04BRIAN DERRICK: That's right.
- 35:05BRIAN DERRICK: When does New York early voting start?
- 35:07BRIAN DERRICK: Are you gonna vote this year?
- 35:09GLENNIS MEAGHER: LOL.
- 35:10BRIAN DERRICK: Oh my gosh, it starts in 10 days, on the 24th.
- 35:12GLENNIS MEAGHER: Do you have a voting plan?
- 35:14BRIAN DERRICK: Yeah.
- 35:15BRIAN DERRICK: I always vote early.
- 35:17GLENNIS MEAGHER: So do I. I like that- At 6:00 AM before work … I voted early s- sticker.
- 35:20GLENNIS MEAGHER: Like, I like- Yeah … the sticker that says that I voted early.
- 35:23BRIAN DERRICK: Yeah.
- 35:24GLENNIS MEAGHER: I feel like, "Ha ha, I voted."
- 35:28BRIAN DERRICK: Okay.
- 35:28BRIAN DERRICK: Well, I do have an Oath Candidate of the, of the Week.
- 35:31GLENNIS MEAGHER: Okay.
- 35:32BRIAN DERRICK: If you are a listener and have not made a donation on Oath yet, today is the day.
- 35:36BRIAN DERRICK: You're running out of time for the money to actually make a difference.
- 35:40BRIAN DERRICK: There's still a bunch of races where $10 can actually really help.
- 35:45BRIAN DERRICK: So today's the day.
- 35:46BRIAN DERRICK: Go to the link in the show notes and go support our girl, Amy Acton.
- 35:50BRIAN DERRICK: Amy Acton- Ohio … is running for governor of Ohio.
- 35:53BRIAN DERRICK: She was my advisor at Ohio State.
- 35:58GLENNIS MEAGHER: No
- 35:58BRIAN DERRICK: way.
- 35:58BRIAN DERRICK: She was my professor, yes.
- 36:00GLENNIS MEAGHER: For history?
- 36:02BRIAN DERRICK: No, for public health when I was a- What?
- 36:05BRIAN DERRICK: When I was studying public health.
- 36:06BRIAN DERRICK: Yeah.
- 36:06GLENNIS MEAGHER: Wait, my mom will be very happy to hear that you were studying public health-
- 36:10BRIAN DERRICK: Yeah, I mean, I- as a former
- 36:11GLENNIS MEAGHER: public health nurse… BRIAN DERRICK: switched out of Um- Wait, so you could have, you could be a public health administrator right now if you, if you- No … if,
- 36:20BRIAN DERRICK: um- 'Cause I didn't graduate with that degree.
- 36:21GLENNIS MEAGHER: I know, but, like, there was a part of you that was, like-
- 36:24BRIAN DERRICK: Yeah… GLENNIS MEAGHER: into it.
- 36:25BRIAN DERRICK: Yeah.
- 36:25BRIAN DERRICK: Yeah.
- 36:26BRIAN DERRICK: And, uh, she was amazing.
- 36:28BRIAN DERRICK: She was an incredible fr- professor, wonderful human, and needs the help.
- 36:33BRIAN DERRICK: She's running against- Human poop popsicle
- 36:37GLENNIS MEAGHER: Yeah.
- 36:38BRIAN DERRICK: Vivek Ramaswamy
- 36:39GLENNIS MEAGHER: Yeah, horrible person
- 36:40BRIAN DERRICK: Absolute- Horrible person … garbage man.
- 36:43BRIAN DERRICK: Yeah.
- 36:43BRIAN DERRICK: She has a real shot at it, especially with Sherrod Brown on the ticket.
- 36:45BRIAN DERRICK: Sherrod's been polling- Mm exceptionally well.
- 36:48BRIAN DERRICK: He's a known quantity running against a Epstein associate in Jon Husted.
- 36:54BRIAN DERRICK: Protector.
- 36:54BRIAN DERRICK: Yeah, right.
- 36:55MODERATOR: Yeah.
- 36:55BRIAN DERRICK: And so yeah, we have a real shot at it.
- 36:58BRIAN DERRICK: It's an uphill battle, and Vivek Ramaswamy is self-funding and just taking checks from billionaires flying around in a private jet, which is exactly why $10 for Amy Acton right now- Yeah is a really good idea.
- 37:13BRIAN DERRICK: So you can go to the link in the show notes and hit her up.
- 37:16GLENNIS MEAGHER: Yeah.
- 37:17GLENNIS MEAGHER: Ohio, I learned this weekend, truly is like a casualty of big tech coming in and bulldozing, like, the best interests of the people of Ohio, and building all of these data centers that are, like, directly impacting people's electricity bills without any, any community oversight, no votes, no nothing.
- 37:37GLENNIS MEAGHER: The people that you're voting for, in Ohio specifically, will start regulating big tech in your state.
- 37:44BRIAN DERRICK: Yeah.
- 37:45BRIAN DERRICK: Totally.
- 37:46BRIAN DERRICK: All right, should we send them off with a Good Vibe?
- 37:48GLENNIS MEAGHER: Yeah.
- 37:48GLENNIS MEAGHER: The Good Vibe this week is New York City related.
- 37:51GLENNIS MEAGHER: Sorry to those who are not living in Mombadanistan.
- 37:54GLENNIS MEAGHER: But we are- Sorry … and we are reaping the benefits of that, which is finally, finally, finally, finally, in 2028, we will see no more horse carriages in the city of New York.
- 38:07GLENNIS MEAGHER: This has been an issue for many people for a long time, and yet the horse carriages persisted, and they're just inhumane.
- 38:14GLENNIS MEAGHER: Do not live in some Cinderella fantasy in New York City, okay?
- 38:17GLENNIS MEAGHER: It's not happening.
- 38:18GLENNIS MEAGHER: Yeah.
- 38:19GLENNIS MEAGHER: It's too hot.
- 38:19GLENNIS MEAGHER: The pavement's too hot.
- 38:21GLENNIS MEAGHER: It's too loud.
- 38:21GLENNIS MEAGHER: It's a bad environment for a horse.
- 38:23GLENNIS MEAGHER: Horses drop dead
- 38:26BRIAN DERRICK: It's so crazy to anyone outside of New York that this is such a political issue, but it's a- Yeah huge political issue in the city, and mayor after mayor has said that they were gonna do something about it, that there was gonna be some kind of solution.
- 38:41BRIAN DERRICK: There hasn't been.
- 38:42BRIAN DERRICK: Horses have died.
- 38:43BRIAN DERRICK: A tourist died.
- 38:45BRIAN DERRICK: And now no more.
- 38:50BRIAN DERRICK: Say goodbye.
- 38:51GLENNIS MEAGHER: Say goodbye.
- 38:52BRIAN DERRICK: Go get a final ride.
- 38:53BRIAN DERRICK: Just kidding, don't.
- 38:54GLENNIS MEAGHER: Don't.
- 38:55BRIAN DERRICK: Um,
- 38:55GLENNIS MEAGHER: But Brian, to your point, you're right.
- 38:56GLENNIS MEAGHER: This is, like, such a hot issue in New York City, and people are probably like, "What are they talking about?" What the fuck?
- 39:00GLENNIS MEAGHER: But I think this is a great representation that, like, if you elect people who represent you and represent issues that you care about, some- This was a low-hanging political fruit-
- 39:10BRIAN DERRICK: Yeah
- 39:10GLENNIS MEAGHER: policy fruit that, like, Mamdani was like, "Okay, it's done." And again, reminder there, catalyzed by the fact that a tourist was killed when a horse went mad.
- 39:20GLENNIS MEAGHER: Yeah But the
- 39:20BRIAN DERRICK: horse lobby is powerful.
- 39:23BRIAN DERRICK: The horse carriage lobby in New York is a powerful- I know … special interest group.
- 39:29BRIAN DERRICK: They've finally been defeated.
- 39:33GLENNIS MEAGHER: Well, we've defeated Big Horse Lobby in New York City, okay?
- 39:36BRIAN DERRICK: Next up, ketamine.
- 39:39GLENNIS MEAGHER: Honestly.
- 39:42GLENNIS MEAGHER: So bad.

- 40:04BRIAN DERRICK: Correct.
- 40:04BRIAN DERRICK: So you gotta get involved.
- 40:06BRIAN DERRICK: There are so many ways.
- 40:07BRIAN DERRICK: Volunteer for an hour, sign up for a phone bank, get on a bus from wherever you live to go knock on doors, make a donation, do something to participate in our democracy because the stakes this November are so incredibly high.
