- 0:00Speaker 1: Back with Jim More on the Yukon Football Coaches showed Jim,
- 0:02Speaker 1: we didn't talk about offense, but Joe Fignano pretty good day.
- 0:06Speaker 1: Completed twenty of his first twenty six passes and he
- 0:10Speaker 1: spread it around pretty well, seven different receivers. It felt good,
- 0:14Speaker 1: it looked good. How do you rate? Do you rate
- 0:17Speaker 1: the quarterbacks play every game or do you just say
- 0:19Speaker 1: we won, we lost and he helped us. I don't
- 0:22Speaker 1: know how do you do?
- 0:23Speaker 2: We You should see the great charts that we use,
- 0:27Speaker 2: the evaluation charts we use for every game. I mean
- 0:30Speaker 2: every player, every game, every play, every situation, and not
- 0:34Speaker 2: just the players, but it starts with how we evaluate
- 0:36Speaker 2: ourselves as a staff and the decisions that we made
- 0:39Speaker 2: going into the game and then during the game. So yeah,
- 0:43Speaker 2: we're all great on every single play. And that's really,
- 0:49Speaker 2: you know, just about accountability, making sure we're doing the
- 0:51Speaker 2: right things, make sure we're coaching it right, making sure
- 0:54Speaker 2: that we're our players are understanding what we're coaching, and
- 0:57Speaker 2: if they're not, how we do a better job of
- 0:59Speaker 2: making sure they understand it? Are they processing? Are they learning?
- 1:02Speaker 2: Are they growing each week? Are they able to apply
- 1:05Speaker 2: the lessons in a game. So yeah, we're very, very
- 1:08Speaker 2: detailed with all that.
- 1:10Speaker 1: We have Ramelo Murphy on the show a little bit later.
- 1:12Speaker 1: He's a red shirt senior from California, transferred from Arizona.
- 1:17Speaker 1: He'd been at Old Dominion. I like the way he
- 1:20Speaker 1: plays outside. Four catches fifty one yards thirty four yards
- 1:24Speaker 1: after catch, and we talked about it. Actually, he is
- 1:28Speaker 1: an interesting character because if you got receivers who can
- 1:31Speaker 1: turn five yards into fifteen, you got something going.
- 1:35Speaker 2: Raymelo is awesome. Number one. He's an amazing human being,
- 1:39Speaker 2: like just lights up a room, great attitude, hard worker, trustworthy,
- 1:46Speaker 2: like great kid. I wish he had more years than
- 1:50Speaker 2: just this one with us because he's a program builder.
- 1:52Speaker 2: You can build around guys like Ray Mellow. But yeah,
- 1:56Speaker 2: he's dependable. You know, he catches the balls, he he
- 2:00Speaker 2: gets yards after the catch. He's a good blocker. He's
- 2:04Speaker 2: very smart, he's very versatile. He's tough as hell. He
- 2:07Speaker 2: can I mean he's not afraid to stick his nose
- 2:10Speaker 2: in there and go dig someone out. So big, big,
- 2:14Speaker 2: big time addition to this program. We tried to get
- 2:16Speaker 2: him last year actually in the portal and he went,
- 2:19Speaker 2: you know, he went to Arizona, as you know, but
- 2:21Speaker 2: finally getting him here has been a big time deal
- 2:23Speaker 2: for us on and off the field. You know, he's
- 2:25Speaker 2: a he's a glue guy. Man, he's big time.
- 2:28Speaker 1: Yeah. They used that term a lot in basketball. Where's
- 2:31Speaker 1: number six Romelo Murphy Delaware they opened that Colorado and
- 2:37Speaker 1: Jim they had the same amount of yardage as the
- 2:39Speaker 1: Buffalo's in that game, just about three ninety six to
- 2:42Speaker 1: three ninety eight. They out passed him three hundred and
- 2:46Speaker 1: twelve yards in the air, and they had almost the
- 2:48Speaker 1: same amount of first downs in a game that they
- 2:51Speaker 1: you know, they lost by two, three scores, whatever it was.
- 2:54Speaker 1: I mean, do those numbers add up or am I
- 2:57Speaker 1: missing something here?
- 2:58Speaker 2: Well, numbers are You can manipulate numbers any way you want.
- 3:02Speaker 2: You know, they were down in the game and they
- 3:04Speaker 2: had to throw it more than probably they wanted. They
- 3:07Speaker 2: wanted to, They probably want to be a little more
- 3:09Speaker 2: balanced because they do have a really good running game,
- 3:11Speaker 2: but they had to throw it, and they threw it effectively.
- 3:13Speaker 2: I mean, their quarterback did a heck of a job.
- 3:15Speaker 2: But you know, you go watch it the first game
- 3:17Speaker 2: against Delaware State and they ran the ball really well.
- 3:19Speaker 2: So they're a very balanced offense. They're physical, they know
- 3:23Speaker 2: what they want to be. They have an identity, they
- 3:27Speaker 2: stick with it. But they are you know, they're equally adept.
- 3:32Speaker 2: I think it thrown and running the football and the
- 3:34Speaker 2: quarterback can cause problems because he can run the football
- 3:37Speaker 2: and he is a good passer. So yeah, it's gonna
- 3:40Speaker 2: be a real challenge for us to go on the
- 3:43Speaker 2: road against a team that's got a lot of confidence.
- 3:46Speaker 2: They've won a lot of games. They are physical, they
- 3:49Speaker 2: are tough, they are gritty. You know, they've got talented players.
- 3:53Speaker 2: They're well coached. So it's it's gonna be a great,
- 3:56Speaker 2: great challenge for us.
- 3:58Speaker 1: Nick Minnacouchi is their quarterback. Where's number eleven. He had
- 4:01Speaker 1: a career high three hundred and twelve yards in the
- 4:03Speaker 1: year against Colorado and Jakari Kelly, his wide receiver one
- 4:07Speaker 1: of his primary targets Where's number nine. He also had
- 4:10Speaker 1: a career high sixty seven yard catch eighty three yards
- 4:14Speaker 1: in the year. Don Bosco kid from from New Jersey. No,
- 4:18Speaker 1: he's from Gainesville. Pardon me. Nick Minicucci, though, is from
- 4:21Speaker 1: Don Bosco. Preppy. Some of these high school programs they
- 4:24Speaker 1: just keep pumping out players, isn't it.
- 4:28Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean yeah, you kind of hear the same
- 4:31Speaker 2: names over and over again when you say, you know
- 4:35Speaker 2: Don Bosco, everyone knows oh great great high school program,
- 4:39Speaker 2: you know. And I think that Minicuci is a really
- 4:43Speaker 2: good player. And I think that you know, the running
- 4:46Speaker 2: back Jonathan Silver is a really good player. Jake Though,
- 4:48Speaker 2: who's actually a Connecticut kid who works a slot for
- 4:51Speaker 2: him as an outstanding player. He already mentioned Jakari Kelly. Yeah,
- 4:56Speaker 2: they're a good team man there. You know, you don't
- 4:59Speaker 2: win as many games as they have if you're not
- 5:01Speaker 2: a good football team with skilled players who are smart
- 5:04Speaker 2: and tough. And like I said, they know who they
- 5:06Speaker 2: want to be. They're very well coached. They're very disciplined,
- 5:08Speaker 2: they're very tough, they're gritty. Uh, you know, they're kind
- 5:11Speaker 2: of what we want to be, you know, they we
- 5:14Speaker 2: want to play that brand of football.
- 5:16Speaker 1: I would take a quick break with the Jim moa
- 5:18Speaker 1: back with more of the Yukon Football Coaches Show on
- 5:21Speaker 1: lear Field
