- 1:43Speaker 1: the bowling event will take place at main Event in
- 1:48Speaker 1: Westchester Township from seven to ten, and I imagine some
- 1:51Speaker 1: of his teammates will be there too. Now, let's get
- 1:55Speaker 1: to Sunday's game. Going in, Joe Mixon was averaging three
- 1:59Speaker 1: point three yards per carry. Of the forty one players
- 2:03Speaker 1: in the league who had carried the ball at least
- 2:04Speaker 1: sixty times, Mixon ranked next to last in yards per attempt.
- 2:09Speaker 1: It's been hard to figure out. It's not like Joe
- 2:12Speaker 1: Mixon is over the hill. He's only four and a
- 2:15Speaker 1: half months older than Joe Burrow. And on Sunday against Carolina,
- 2:19Speaker 1: he reminded everybody that he's one of the best running
- 2:23Speaker 1: backs in the NFL. He's completed his first four throws.
- 2:27Speaker 1: The Bengals have a first down at the forty seven
- 2:29Speaker 1: yard line. Burrow looks to throw for the fifth time,
- 2:32Speaker 1: checks it down shore Nixon. Nice blocking in front. He's
- 2:35Speaker 1: to the forty middle of the field thirty twenty five
- 2:38Speaker 1: twenty and tackled at the Carolina eighteen yard line thirty
- 2:43Speaker 1: five yards to Joe Mixon. Now was a screen pass
- 2:47Speaker 1: executed perfectly. First in goal from the two. Stanley Morgan
- 2:52Speaker 1: is checked in as one of the wide receivers. He's
- 2:54Speaker 1: a good blocker. He's out to the right. Now he
- 2:57Speaker 1: goes in motion from right to left. Burrow tosses it
- 3:00Speaker 1: left Mixon. He'll go into the end zone. Touchdown zone
- 3:04Speaker 1: Bengals as Cincinnati goes ninety yards to begin the game
- 3:10Speaker 1: and scores a touchdown. Methodical Dan a really good mix
- 3:15Speaker 1: of running pass. Three receivers left, one out to the right.
- 3:18Speaker 1: Burrow waits for the shotgun snap. Joe catches hands it
- 3:21Speaker 1: out the mix and he's got a big hole right
- 3:23Speaker 1: side outside the numerals, down the sideline to the twenty
- 3:27Speaker 1: fifteen and tackled at the Carolina fourteen by Shack Thompson.
- 3:32Speaker 1: Twenty nine yards for Joe Mixon fursten goal from the three. Officially,
- 3:37Speaker 1: Burrow takes the snap, gives it to Mixing. Choe is
- 3:41Speaker 1: into the end zone. Touchdown Bengals Choe Mixing half and
- 3:46Speaker 1: a half. That's his second touchdown of the afternoon. And
- 3:50Speaker 1: the Bengals are up by three tds. And you're saying,
- 3:54Speaker 1: Joe Mixon a Pro Bowl caliber running back? When is
- 3:57Speaker 1: the day coming? This is been a get right day.
- 4:01Speaker 1: Stanley Morgan in the Bengals get lined up quickly. Play
- 4:04Speaker 1: clock is at two one. Burrow takes the snap, hands
- 4:08Speaker 1: it to mix and running wide to the right, he'll
- 4:10Speaker 1: go into the end zone. There's a penalty flag down
- 4:13Speaker 1: at the six. Did the Bengals get set for a
- 4:16Speaker 1: full second with all of their personnel off side? Offside
- 4:20Speaker 1: good defensed under ninety seven lined up in the new zone,
- 4:23Speaker 1: Tis decline tousdown. Joe Mixon scores his third touchdown of
- 4:28Speaker 1: the half. The Bengals single game record is four. He's
- 4:33Speaker 1: got three before halftime and Cincinnati is up by four touchdowns.
- 4:38Speaker 1: Shotgun snap back to Joe from the pocket. Scrambling to
- 4:42Speaker 1: the right, looking into the end zone. Burrow throws close
- 4:47Speaker 1: Joe Dixon. Joe Mixon tying the Bengals franchise record for
- 4:53Speaker 1: touchdowns in a game, and he does it before halftime, unlivable.
- 4:58Speaker 1: Three rushing touchdown and a touchdown catch. He joins Larry Kinnebrew,
- 5:04Speaker 1: Corey Dillon, and Marvin Jones as the fourth player in
- 5:08Speaker 1: Bengals history with a four touchdown game. The sixth offensive
- 5:12Speaker 1: lineman is in. He lines up on the left side.
- 5:14Speaker 1: This time Burrow takes the snap, gives to Nixon bouncing
- 5:17Speaker 1: a wide to the left penalty fan. Johnny's at the
- 5:20Speaker 1: ten five into the end zone for what could be
- 5:24Speaker 1: his fifth touchdown. Let's see if the formation was legal
- 5:27Speaker 1: to everybody line up on the line scrimmage? Well enough
- 5:30Speaker 1: offside defense about that? How about that line too? A
- 5:37Speaker 1: fifteen yard run for Joe Mixon, who has just set
- 5:40Speaker 1: the Bengal single game record with five touchdowns in a game.
- 5:45Speaker 1: And we still have nearly twenty minutes to play. Hi
- 5:48Speaker 1: and iis lined up off side and Joe Nixon with
- 5:52Speaker 1: a little jump cut and jac Horne was frozen. I
- 5:55Speaker 1: mean he said, I'm taking it outside. Jac Horne trying
- 5:59Speaker 1: to make a Joe Mixon said, nah and outran everybody,
- 6:04Speaker 1: outran the leverage, outran everybody trying to pursue. In addition
- 6:08Speaker 1: to his franchise record five tds, Mixon accounted for two
- 6:12Speaker 1: hundred eleven yards one fifty three rushing and fifty eight receiving,
- 6:16Speaker 1: and he didn't touch the ball in the fourth quarter.
- 6:19Speaker 1: The Bengals led thirty five nothing at the half, forty
- 6:22Speaker 1: two to seven after three quarters, and after pulling as
- 6:25Speaker 1: many starters as they could, beat the Panthers forty two
- 6:29Speaker 1: to twenty one. After the game, Dave Lapham caught up
- 6:33Speaker 1: with Joe Mixon record holding, how's the trial, man? I
- 6:38Speaker 1: feel great, man, I have a day like that. I mean,
- 6:40Speaker 1: all g Lord of God, it's been long overdue and
- 6:43Speaker 1: I just want to, you know, take the time to
- 6:45Speaker 1: appreciate my lineman and receivers for doing a hell of
- 6:48Speaker 1: a job giving physical of making them down blocks and
- 6:51Speaker 1: just you know, give me to the next level. And
- 6:54Speaker 1: we was long overdue. But I'm just you know, very excited,
- 6:58Speaker 1: very happy for the team. Man. Needed that it was big.
- 7:01Speaker 1: You guys were hammering them between the tackles real well,
- 7:04Speaker 1: and then the pinning full pull tight end pinning tackle,
- 7:07Speaker 1: pulling around the horn. You were reading that really well
- 7:09Speaker 1: as well. Yeah, most definitely. Man, the preparation that we've
- 7:13Speaker 1: been having within these past few weeks, I mean it's
- 7:16Speaker 1: been crucial. We've been locked in and we never we
- 7:21Speaker 1: never lost hope. And you know, like I said, when
- 7:23Speaker 1: we came in there like that, I was trying to
- 7:25Speaker 1: do whatever I could to set the tone and have Zach,
- 7:28Speaker 1: you know, believing, keep calling in them, run calls and
- 7:31Speaker 1: we're going to deliver. And we did that today. So
- 7:34Speaker 1: you know, like I said, man, it's a blessing to
- 7:36Speaker 1: be able to be here in this position and you know,
- 7:38Speaker 1: playing with my teammate's like this. Eight your first eight
- 7:41Speaker 1: possessions just scored six touchdowns. Every Chris Evans given a
- 7:46Speaker 1: little congratulation. Every single touchdown was a red zone touchdown.
- 7:50Speaker 1: Six for six in the red zone. You come up
- 7:53Speaker 1: with five touchdowns today, you're gonna be amongst the league leaders. Now,
- 7:56Speaker 1: I mean, what kind of a what kind of relief is?
- 7:58Speaker 1: I mean, you know what you got for talent? You
- 8:00Speaker 1: know the whole whole story. People, You know, with all
- 8:03Speaker 1: the noise, you're just blocking it all out. How big
- 8:05Speaker 1: is all this? Yeah? Man? It was huge? Um, you know,
- 8:08Speaker 1: they were trying to obviously kick us down while we
- 8:11Speaker 1: was down, man, and we stayed true to us, stayed
- 8:14Speaker 1: true to the game, and uh never lost hope, like
- 8:16Speaker 1: I said, and I had to remember who he is, man,
- 8:19Speaker 1: And that's what it was. And like I said, I'm
- 8:22Speaker 1: just blessed to be able to be in this here position.
- 8:25Speaker 1: And uh I just like I said, Man, I can't
- 8:27Speaker 1: do nothing but thank God and my teammates. Man, it was,
- 8:30Speaker 1: it was a hell of a performance. And I'm very
- 8:33Speaker 1: excited for this team. There was balanced Joe, I mean
- 8:36Speaker 1: two United yards Russian Twounity yards passion. It was. It
- 8:39Speaker 1: was balanced in play selection, balance in execution. That's what
- 8:42Speaker 1: this offense can do, right, Yeah, most definitely. I mean
- 8:46Speaker 1: we had to do that. Man. We deliver, man. So
- 8:49Speaker 1: you know Zach, you know, he died us some good
- 8:51Speaker 1: play calls. Everybody died in with the scheme and making
- 8:55Speaker 1: them extra blocks and uh, you know, just being committed
- 8:59Speaker 1: to playing team in football, man, And we showed that today.
- 9:02Speaker 1: And we just got to keep on building from that.
- 9:04Speaker 1: And uh, you know, I'm very excited where we hit it. Man.
- 9:07Speaker 1: We just got to keep stuck in one week at
- 9:09Speaker 1: a time. Congratulations, you're in the record books man, and
- 9:12Speaker 1: that's you're the fifth guy in franchise history. Also to
- 9:15Speaker 1: rush for over five thousand yards. That's another thing that
- 9:18Speaker 1: took place in today's game. How big is that for you? Man?
- 9:21Speaker 1: It's huge? But uh, you know, like I said, I
- 9:23Speaker 1: just got to keep on building. I know it's a
- 9:25Speaker 1: lot more in the tank that you know we're gonna
- 9:27Speaker 1: have to go ahead and reach. And I know for
- 9:31Speaker 1: a fact that as long as you know we stayed shoot,
- 9:33Speaker 1: hit the game, and keep on working hard, everything that
- 9:37Speaker 1: we have ahead of us gonna come true. But I'm
- 9:39Speaker 1: more and so I'm more so into team wins and
- 9:43Speaker 1: doing ever doing whatever we can to get back to
- 9:45Speaker 1: the show. And we all locked in. Congratulations. Good things
- 9:49Speaker 1: happen to good people, and nobody works harder than Joe
- 9:52Speaker 1: Mixon the Bengals. Both podcast is presented by Cattering Health,
- 9:56Speaker 1: the official healthcare provider of the Bengals. With more than
- 9:59Speaker 1: one hundred and twenty care facilities and fifteen hundred care providers.
- 10:04Speaker 1: Kettering Health is committed to guiding you to your best health.
- 10:08Speaker 1: Visit Kettering health dot org to learn more. Joe Mixon
- 10:12Speaker 1: was effusive in his praise of the offensive line, and
- 10:14Speaker 1: rightfully so. The Bengals finished with two hundred forty one
- 10:17Speaker 1: rushing yards and averaged six point two per carry. Joe
- 10:22Speaker 1: Burrow dropped back to past twenty nine times and was
- 10:25Speaker 1: only sacked once. I spoke to write Tackle l Collins.
- 10:31Speaker 1: Two hundred forty one rushing yards doesn't get much better
- 10:35Speaker 1: than that for an offensive line, and I wouldn't think, Oh, yeah, man,
- 10:39Speaker 1: you know, that's that's what we came here to do.
- 10:42Speaker 1: Oh no, revamped his old line. Real stuff is our identity.
- 10:46Speaker 1: And you know, right now is right where you want
- 10:49Speaker 1: to be hidden, hidden at ross and uh, you know
- 10:52Speaker 1: we're starting to put it all together. Joe Mixon scored
- 10:55Speaker 1: five touchdowns, four rushing, one receiving. That's a Bengals record.
- 10:58Speaker 1: Nobody had ever scored five the game before. What's it
- 11:01Speaker 1: mean to you to be an offensive lineman for an
- 11:04Speaker 1: achievement like that. It's it's amazing, you know, Um, anytime
- 11:08Speaker 1: you know, if you put the ball in Joe mix
- 11:10Speaker 1: his hand and let them go, great things are going
- 11:13Speaker 1: to happen. And we saw it here today. So you know,
- 11:15Speaker 1: I'm excited, um to just know where we're at right
- 11:19Speaker 1: now and know how much more work we gotta do,
- 11:21Speaker 1: and know that we got to play our best football
- 11:23Speaker 1: from me on out only ten rushing attempts on Monday night. Now,
- 11:27Speaker 1: the circumstances of the game had something to do with that,
- 11:30Speaker 1: But did you feel it was important to show that
- 11:33Speaker 1: this team could have more balanced than it's had to
- 11:36Speaker 1: this point. Absolutely? You know. That's why you know when
- 11:39Speaker 1: when they call those plays and you know they're putting it,
- 11:42Speaker 1: they're putting it on the guys up front to go
- 11:44Speaker 1: out there and move the line of scrimmage and get
- 11:46Speaker 1: a ball carriers, you know, all the room they need
- 11:48Speaker 1: to operate, and it doesn't get any any better than that,
- 11:52Speaker 1: you know, when coaches calling plays like that. Monday was
- 11:55Speaker 1: one of those nights when nothing went right. This seemed
- 11:57Speaker 1: to be one of those games where everything went right.
- 11:59Speaker 1: It's funny how things can change in a six day
- 12:01Speaker 1: period in the NFL. Absolutely, you know it's the NFL,
- 12:05Speaker 1: and you know you gotta play your best football week
- 12:08Speaker 1: in a week out, And you know, I couldn't be
- 12:10Speaker 1: more part of my two mates. There was a play
- 12:12Speaker 1: I don't remember exactly where it was, but you were
- 12:14Speaker 1: out there as a lead blocker. He looked like a
- 12:17Speaker 1: runaway beer truck, just knocking people over downfield. That's right,
- 12:22Speaker 1: you know, that's who I'm as a player man, and
- 12:25Speaker 1: I look forward to continue to bring that easton every week.
- 12:28Speaker 1: You know, I'm just excited on where we are and
- 12:30Speaker 1: where we're headed. Else, enjoy your by, congratulations on a
- 12:34Speaker 1: great win. Thank you sir. Then there's the defense. Despite
- 12:38Speaker 1: not having DJ Reader, Chitube, a Wooje or Mike Hilton,
- 12:42Speaker 1: the Bengals only allowed one first down in the first half,
- 12:46Speaker 1: and that was by penalty. Carolina's first six drives ended
- 12:50Speaker 1: with four punts and two interceptions, one by Jermaine Pratt,
- 12:55Speaker 1: the other by Jesse Bates. I caught up with Jesse
- 12:58Speaker 1: after the game and start by asking him about Joe Mixon.
- 13:03Speaker 1: But Joe's having a day like that, Jesse, what does
- 13:06Speaker 1: it do for everybody else's energy level and mood? You know,
- 13:09Speaker 1: it's different when Joe Burrows having a day um like that,
- 13:12Speaker 1: But when Mixing is running the ball, UM, it kind
- 13:14Speaker 1: of creates the dominance of our team. UM all three phases,
- 13:19Speaker 1: so U Joe would definitely running with a different type
- 13:22Speaker 1: of pop and uh like I said, it got going, Uh,
- 13:25Speaker 1: not just through the offense, but through our defense and
- 13:27Speaker 1: uh special teams as well. Thirty five nothing at the half.
- 13:30Speaker 1: That's about as dominant of performance as I've ever seen.
- 13:34Speaker 1: Have you been in heart of anything like that? Um, No,
- 13:38Speaker 1: I've been on the other side of it. Um. But yeah,
- 13:41Speaker 1: you know it's good, uh to see our offense have
- 13:45Speaker 1: some confidence. UM. You know, I know, I know how
- 13:48Speaker 1: much they take pride in their work. UM, from the
- 13:50Speaker 1: offensive line, from Joe Burrow to the receivers to the
- 13:53Speaker 1: running backs. Um. To see them do what they did today. Um.
- 13:57Speaker 1: And in our defense, I don't think they cost a
- 13:58Speaker 1: fifty of the second half. So um, just like I said,
- 14:02Speaker 1: we got to continue to play um, complimentary football the
- 14:06Speaker 1: second half of the season, and a lot of these
- 14:07Speaker 1: games will be here. Um. And our fans were great today. UM.
- 14:12Speaker 1: So it's good when we start fast, the fans start
- 14:14Speaker 1: starting past a little bit. So yeah, it's it's a
- 14:17Speaker 1: great win for us. How were they young dbs that
- 14:19Speaker 1: were pressed into service. Yeah, I thought they did a
- 14:21Speaker 1: really good job. I mean, I think Cam would have
- 14:25Speaker 1: been playing a little bit more if he wasn't hurt
- 14:27Speaker 1: at the beginning of the year, so I'm not surprised
- 14:29Speaker 1: with him. Um. And then you know Eli has been
- 14:31Speaker 1: playing with us all year last year, so uh. And
- 14:35Speaker 1: then you got JD. Who I mean, I think he's
- 14:37Speaker 1: a ball. I call him every day because every day
- 14:39Speaker 1: he makes a play. So um, it's no surprise. Man.
- 14:42Speaker 1: We gotta we got a close group in there. Um.
- 14:44Speaker 1: We're very open. Um. Me and Von do a good
- 14:47Speaker 1: job of communicating, um and letting people know when we
- 14:50Speaker 1: are when we are in tough positions and stuff like that.
- 14:52Speaker 1: So um, it just goes whole whole hand. Um, from
- 14:56Speaker 1: top to the bottom. I'm proud of those guys. Was
- 14:58Speaker 1: what is it playing about the team to be able
- 14:59Speaker 1: to win like this? Going into to buy giving one
- 15:01Speaker 1: half of the Monday? Like I said, we talked about
- 15:04Speaker 1: coming in here, playing fast and just knowing how important
- 15:07Speaker 1: these games are gonna get in the second half of
- 15:09Speaker 1: the season. Um. Going into it at five and four
- 15:11Speaker 1: with a winning record, Um, damn sure it looks better
- 15:14Speaker 1: than four and five going into a buy So Um,
- 15:17Speaker 1: like I said, We're gonna have a lot of big
- 15:18Speaker 1: games here. Um here in the stadium, so hopefully the
- 15:22Speaker 1: fans will come out and you know, show how they
- 15:24Speaker 1: show it today. How much more enjoyable is to buy
- 15:27Speaker 1: five and four versus four and five. He's everybody up
- 15:30Speaker 1: a little bit, especially you know, it's been a long
- 15:35Speaker 1: first couple of a couple of guys getting hurt. It's
- 15:38Speaker 1: good to see how we respond as a team because
- 15:41Speaker 1: at some point later on the season, we're gonna need
- 15:43Speaker 1: these guys again, and for them to have the experience
- 15:46Speaker 1: and for us to do well, um, it's gonna pay
- 15:48Speaker 1: off a law run. The Bengals Booth podcast is brought
- 15:52Speaker 1: to you in part by Bengals Picks and Ultimate Bengals.
- 15:55Speaker 1: They're free to play with tickets inside merchandise up for grabs.
- 15:59Speaker 1: Find both inside the Bengals app. Joe Burrow finished twenty
- 16:04Speaker 1: two for twenty eight. That's seventy nine percent for two
- 16:07Speaker 1: hundred and six yards, with one touchdown, no picks, and
- 16:10Speaker 1: a passer rating of one o nine point two. He
- 16:13Speaker 1: also had a one yard touchdown run. Joe's passer rating
- 16:17Speaker 1: has been over one hundred in all five Bengals wins
- 16:21Speaker 1: and under one hundred in all four losses. Laps spend
- 16:25Speaker 1: a couple of minutes with him in the locker room
- 16:28Speaker 1: two hundred yards passing over tundred yards rushing. Joe Nixon
- 16:32Speaker 1: sets a record five touchdowns or on the ground, he
- 16:34Speaker 1: caught your touchdown pass no turnovers in the football game.
- 16:38Speaker 1: Can you play any better? As a complete game? We
- 16:41Speaker 1: run the ball like that. There's not a team in
- 16:43Speaker 1: the league that can stop us. So we gotta keep
- 16:45Speaker 1: the momentum of act going into this bye week. Need
- 16:48Speaker 1: it for both our physical health and our mental health.
- 16:51Speaker 1: Will be good, good little break and come back ready
- 16:53Speaker 1: to go. This football team, the Carolina Panthers, their defense
- 16:57Speaker 1: is athletic, They can run. They only give up giving
- 16:59Speaker 1: up one opening drive touchdown in twenty five games all
- 17:03Speaker 1: last year and up to this year. You guys go
- 17:05Speaker 1: ninety yards and nine players. Was that the tone center? Yeah?
- 17:07Speaker 1: It really was. Like I said, we were able to
- 17:10Speaker 1: run the ball really well all day. We felt like
- 17:12Speaker 1: we are getting eight yards of pop, nine yards of
- 17:15Speaker 1: pop on every single rush. When you do that, you
- 17:17Speaker 1: know it's gonna be a good day. So, Joe, what
- 17:19Speaker 1: do you what do you go from here? What do
- 17:20Speaker 1: you what do you do during the bye were what
- 17:22Speaker 1: Joe Burrows so focused on football? What do you do
- 17:25Speaker 1: during the bye week? You got to get away from
- 17:26Speaker 1: it for a little bit. You can't stay focused for
- 17:29Speaker 1: seven straight months off football, so you get away from
- 17:31Speaker 1: it for three or four days and come back ready
- 17:33Speaker 1: to go. I don't think I've ever seen anybody that
- 17:35Speaker 1: is uh as laser focused as you are with your
- 17:39Speaker 1: pregame routine. And it starts not just before you even
- 17:41Speaker 1: go up to warm up. I mean you are like
- 17:44Speaker 1: your whole continents, your whole body, everything about you is
- 17:46Speaker 1: like laser focused. Has that been that way for you
- 17:48Speaker 1: the whole time? Yeah? You know, game day it turns
- 17:51Speaker 1: into a different person, just different feeling, and you come
- 17:56Speaker 1: in ready to go, focused on your on your job,
- 18:00Speaker 1: whatever you got to do for that day to go
- 18:01Speaker 1: out and get the wins. So I've been able to
- 18:04Speaker 1: find that that mindset since I've been in the league,
- 18:07Speaker 1: and I think it's it's served me well. Twelve in
- 18:10Speaker 1: the five wins for the Bengals, twelve touchdown passes, no interceptions,
- 18:14Speaker 1: no fumbles, twelve touchdowns, no giveaways whatsoever. That's winning football. Yeah.
- 18:20Speaker 1: You don't turn the ball over and you force turnovers,
- 18:22Speaker 1: usually you're gonna win the game. Well said, thank you
- 18:25Speaker 1: for the Bengals have their by this week before a
- 18:29Speaker 1: road game in Pittsburgh on the twentieth. Right, now, that's
- 18:32Speaker 1: the Sunday night football game, but it could get flex
- 18:35Speaker 1: to an earlier start time. That decision has to be
- 18:38Speaker 1: made by Tuesday. Now, time for the radio guys recap lap.
- 18:44Speaker 1: As bad as the Bengals were on Monday night in Cleveland,
- 18:46Speaker 1: that's how good they were on Sunday afternoon in Cincinnati.
- 18:49Speaker 1: Total destruction of the Carolina Panthers forty two to twenty
- 18:53Speaker 1: one the final and it wasn't even that close. What
- 18:56Speaker 1: were your biggest takeaways today? What should Bengals fans be
- 19:00Speaker 1: most encouraged with? I thought the way they came out
- 19:03Speaker 1: of the locker room, you know, with a purpose. It
- 19:05Speaker 1: was to get right attitude. This was a good defensive
- 19:10Speaker 1: football team that only give up only had given up
- 19:12Speaker 1: one opening drive touchdown in twenty five games, I mean,
- 19:15Speaker 1: all of last year and half of this year. And
- 19:18Speaker 1: just like the Bengal streak of you know, not giving
- 19:20Speaker 1: up a touchdown in the second half last week, the
- 19:22Speaker 1: Bengals smashed that with a nine play ninety yard touchdown
- 19:26Speaker 1: that was very balanced. Five passes, four rushes, all of
- 19:31Speaker 1: them successful. I thought, first, down execution in the first
- 19:34Speaker 1: half was huge. You know, they averaged about eight yards
- 19:37Speaker 1: of pass seven yards of rush, and they called eleven
- 19:40Speaker 1: passes and eleven runs on first down. You can't be
- 19:42Speaker 1: any more balanced than that. And they got great productivity
- 19:46Speaker 1: over it. They get a couple of touchdowns on first
- 19:48Speaker 1: down out of those calls. So I thought that to
- 19:52Speaker 1: start the game off the way they did made a
- 19:55Speaker 1: big statement in Carolina was reeling at that point a
- 19:57Speaker 1: little bit and never really got their footing if you
- 20:00Speaker 1: include the playoffs. Joe Mixon had gone an entire season
- 20:03Speaker 1: without a one hundred yard rushing performance, seventeen games since
- 20:06Speaker 1: the last time he did it. Well, he was unbelievable
- 20:09Speaker 1: in this game. Twenty two carries for one hundred fifty
- 20:11Speaker 1: three yards rushing, four tds, four catches fifty eight yards
- 20:14Speaker 1: receiving another TD, five touchdowns total, first Bengal to ever
- 20:19Speaker 1: do it. Is this the start of something for Joe Mixon?
- 20:22Speaker 1: Can this be the jumping off point for him to
- 20:25Speaker 1: be the kind of player we've seen him be before?
- 20:27Speaker 1: I think so. You know, I'm just talking to Joe
- 20:29Speaker 1: in the post game, and I started reading first half
- 20:31Speaker 1: stats as stats of the game, because wait mate, wait
- 20:33Speaker 1: a minute, they're better than that. I think, oh that's
- 20:35Speaker 1: first half. That's right, Joe. Look at your first half numbers.
- 20:38Speaker 1: They're as good as most people you know would take
- 20:39Speaker 1: for a game. He get off to a such great start.
- 20:43Speaker 1: I think that if he had any influence from the
- 20:47Speaker 1: outside noise, there's totally freedom of that, you know, and
- 20:50Speaker 1: and sometimes you know it's you can't help it when
- 20:54Speaker 1: you're when you're a player, you can. You can say
- 20:56Speaker 1: I'm going to ignore everything, I'm going to shut everything
- 20:59Speaker 1: out from the outside. But in today's era of social
- 21:01Speaker 1: media and everything else, it's almost impossible too. So you
- 21:05Speaker 1: do hear some of it. Some players hear more of
- 21:09Speaker 1: it than others. But he's a great player, and he
- 21:13Speaker 1: hasn't lost a step, and he's I think, I think
- 21:15Speaker 1: that something like this will free him a little bit.
- 21:18Speaker 1: You know. It's like like we talked about before, I
- 21:21Speaker 1: think he was trying to be too perfect because there's
- 21:25Speaker 1: nobody to care as more than Joe. Nobody works harder
- 21:27Speaker 1: than Joe. So for him to get a performance that
- 21:31Speaker 1: you know, validates all that, I think will do nothing
- 21:34Speaker 1: but lead to another great performance out of him. You
- 21:37Speaker 1: referred to success in the pin and pull rushing attack
- 21:41Speaker 1: during the course of the game a few times. Did
- 21:43Speaker 1: they do that more? Did they do that better? Did
- 21:45Speaker 1: they find something where that's concerned. I think it was
- 21:47Speaker 1: the combination of hammering them between the tackles and then
- 21:51Speaker 1: that complimentary pin and pull that was that was playing
- 21:55Speaker 1: havoc with the Carolina Panthers. I mean they were gashing him.
- 21:57Speaker 1: They were getting big running lanes and Joe was hitting
- 22:00Speaker 1: him and hitting him right away. And when we talked
- 22:04Speaker 1: about during the course of our radio shows during the
- 22:07Speaker 1: week that you know, when you're struggling as an offensive
- 22:11Speaker 1: line in the running game, you have to work on
- 22:12Speaker 1: fit and finish. Make sure you get a hat on
- 22:15Speaker 1: a hat, and you have yourself in the right positions,
- 22:17Speaker 1: you have your hand placement right, your footwork right, and
- 22:19Speaker 1: finished blocks. And they were doing a great job of
- 22:21Speaker 1: fit and finish today, And you know they were rewarded
- 22:24Speaker 1: by let's keep calling it, you know, I mean very
- 22:27Speaker 1: balanced in that first drive, five passes, four rushes. It
- 22:31Speaker 1: paid off. They stayed with it, like you said on
- 22:32Speaker 1: first down, eleven run plays, eleven pass plays can't be
- 22:38Speaker 1: any more balanced than that, And I think that, and
- 22:40Speaker 1: talking to Joe Burrow after the game, he said, when
- 22:43Speaker 1: we run the ball like that, we're gonna be unbeatable.
- 22:45Speaker 1: Over turningy yards, rushing over turny yards passing, he doesn't.
- 22:48Speaker 1: I don't think he really wants to throw for over
- 22:50Speaker 1: fourty yards and lose a game. That's not Joe Burrow,
- 22:53Speaker 1: that's not his deal, you know. I think I think
- 22:56Speaker 1: being number one in the NFL and passing yards is
- 23:00Speaker 1: a little hollow when you're four and four, you know.
- 23:02Speaker 1: I mean, he'd rather be where he's going to be
- 23:04Speaker 1: after this, probably fall down into the top two or
- 23:07Speaker 1: three after you know, a couple one hundred yard passing day.
- 23:10Speaker 1: But he'll take five and four and be number two
- 23:14Speaker 1: or three in the league in passing any day. Over
- 23:17Speaker 1: being number one in the NFL and passing and being
- 23:19Speaker 1: four and five. As I said on the broadcast, p J.
- 23:22Speaker 1: Walker's passer rating match to John Bluete, Blue Tarski's GPA
- 23:27Speaker 1: and Animal House zero point zero. Is PJ Walker that bad?
- 23:32Speaker 1: Or was the Bengals defense that good? It's a great question.
- 23:35Speaker 1: I think it was a combination. I mean, I think
- 23:38Speaker 1: he just he got caught in a very difficult situation
- 23:41Speaker 1: the way the offense took control of the football game.
- 23:44Speaker 1: And but three straight three and outs, I mean he
- 23:46Speaker 1: did not. He didn't help the cause whatsoever. And it's
- 23:50Speaker 1: never just the quarterback. I thought that. You know, one
- 23:53Speaker 1: of the things that was a big factor in the
- 23:55Speaker 1: game is Carolina runs the ball pretty well and the
- 23:57Speaker 1: Bengals didn't allow them to take control of things with
- 24:00Speaker 1: the line of scrimmage, and they had to lean on PJ.
- 24:03Speaker 1: Walker I think more in this football game in the
- 24:06Speaker 1: early stages than they thought they would have to, particularly
- 24:08Speaker 1: when they fell behind by two and three and four
- 24:10Speaker 1: scores as early as they did. I mean they had
- 24:12Speaker 1: done by five at halftime and they yank them. So yeah,
- 24:16Speaker 1: it was it was an unenviable position for him to
- 24:21Speaker 1: be in, but he was a big part of it.
- 24:24Speaker 1: He was a big part of the reason why. I
- 24:26Speaker 1: don't think he was anywhere near as sharp as he
- 24:29Speaker 1: probably feels like he could have been after he watched
- 24:31Speaker 1: his tape while it was still a game. The Bengals
- 24:34Speaker 1: young corners who were pressed into service did a nice job.
- 24:37Speaker 1: Cam Taylor, britt and Jail and Davis. They acquitted themselves well.
- 24:42Speaker 1: I agree with you. Dan. I remember we're looking at
- 24:44Speaker 1: each other in the Cleveland game. How open guys were.
- 24:46Speaker 1: It's like, oh huh, I mean, you know a high
- 24:48Speaker 1: school quarterback can make these throws. Not today, you know,
- 24:52Speaker 1: guys doors coverage and honestly, Carolina Panthers I thought had
- 24:55Speaker 1: pretty good coverage on a lot of plays, and Joe
- 24:58Speaker 1: was putting putting the ball in very good spots. I
- 25:00Speaker 1: mean he was like twenty two for twenty six again
- 25:03Speaker 1: some kind of kind of crazy deal like that. I
- 25:04Speaker 1: remember him throwing one out of bounds intentionally, you know,
- 25:08Speaker 1: to get rid of the football and save the down
- 25:10Speaker 1: to the best of his ability. Soum. He is, this
- 25:14Speaker 1: dude is accurate with the football and he can put
- 25:17Speaker 1: it in spots. And I think he when he shows
- 25:22Speaker 1: confidence in other receivers like Trent and Irwin that he
- 25:26Speaker 1: shows I think that's that gets contagious with everybody on
- 25:29Speaker 1: the football team as well. There's no doubt when you know.
- 25:32Speaker 1: I remember when I was early in my career and
- 25:36Speaker 1: did something well and one of the great players and
- 25:39Speaker 1: the team said, nice job, Rook. I was like, oh
- 25:42Speaker 1: my god, I've died and gone to heaven. Football Heaven
- 25:45Speaker 1: here I am and when guy. When Joe Burrow makes
- 25:48Speaker 1: plays to guys you know that don't get all those
- 25:51Speaker 1: opportunities and doesn't have something positive to say about it afterwards,
- 25:55Speaker 1: Man that that gives you a boost in your career
- 25:58Speaker 1: a big time. So the different between five and four
- 26:01Speaker 1: and four and five going into the buy is obviously huge.
- 26:04Speaker 1: The Bengals would have been in real trouble had they
- 26:06Speaker 1: lost this game. But I think from a mental standpoint,
- 26:09Speaker 1: had they gone into the buy with a loss, they
- 26:11Speaker 1: would have been miserable. They would have been stewing on it.
- 26:14Speaker 1: It wouldn't have been a buy. I mean, your body
- 26:16Speaker 1: would have recovered a little bit, but mentally this team
- 26:19Speaker 1: would have been in bad shape had they not won.
- 26:22Speaker 1: There's three things that in my mind in a buy,
- 26:25Speaker 1: you need to take care of physically, particularly the guys
- 26:28Speaker 1: that are injured. Try to get as many back as
- 26:30Speaker 1: they can. In conversation with Zach after the game, he
- 26:33Speaker 1: feels like DJ Reader has a good shot two pole.
- 26:36Speaker 1: He said, it is a little bit further away. He
- 26:38Speaker 1: didn't think would get two pole right away. But DJ
- 26:40Speaker 1: feels pretty good about and other guys he you know,
- 26:44Speaker 1: he wasn't real specific about kind of have to take
- 26:47Speaker 1: that as that week unfolds and see how quickly guys
- 26:50Speaker 1: do recover that have had more recent injuries. But you
- 26:54Speaker 1: have to take care of yourself physically, mentally and spiritually,
- 26:58Speaker 1: you know, emotionally. And I'm talking football. I'm not talking
- 27:01Speaker 1: about you know, whatever your religion is or whatever the case.
- 27:03Speaker 1: Maybe I'm talking about that part of the game of football.
- 27:07Speaker 1: It's it's part of it's the mental part of it
- 27:09Speaker 1: as well. But you know, the mental part of it
- 27:10Speaker 1: is football stuff. You know, you're looking at tape, you're
- 27:13Speaker 1: making corrections. I can do this better. I'm just talking
- 27:15Speaker 1: about the overall um way you come to work every day,
- 27:20Speaker 1: the emotion, the energy level, all those kind of things.
- 27:24Speaker 1: The spirituality part of it, I think is equally and
- 27:27Speaker 1: that that that would would have been tougher to accomplish
- 27:30Speaker 1: with a two game losing streak against teams you know
- 27:33Speaker 1: you can beat, and if you lose both of them,
- 27:36Speaker 1: that ain't good. I mean, you're remember looking at that ceiling, man,
- 27:39Speaker 1: and those those tiles and the ceiling get bigger and bigger,
- 27:42Speaker 1: and it's like I can't go to sleep. Um, those
- 27:45Speaker 1: those nights are rough. But now you know, you can
- 27:48Speaker 1: feel like, all right, we're back on track. We have
- 27:50Speaker 1: miles to go before we rest, but at least now
- 27:52Speaker 1: we're trending in the right direction. Bring on the Steelers
- 27:56Speaker 1: after the buy, Absolutely, bring on the Blitzburg Steelers. And damn,
- 28:01Speaker 1: what do you think is gonna be Monday night? Do
- 28:03Speaker 1: you think they'll I think that's going to stay at
- 28:04Speaker 1: Monday night? Potentially Sunday night, excuse me, Sunday night footba.
- 28:07Speaker 1: I think it's gonna stay there, Sunday night football potentially.
- 28:09Speaker 1: I don't know. I'll find out by Tuesday. Yeah, that's
- 28:14Speaker 1: that would be a very very good bye week present,
- 28:19Speaker 1: would I mean, I know people love the primetime exposure
- 28:22Speaker 1: for the Bengals, and I get that, but from a
- 28:24Speaker 1: very selfish perspective, these nighttime road games are tough on
- 28:29Speaker 1: the old broadcast crew physically, no doubt. I mean, it
- 28:33Speaker 1: gets me. It's not just a day recovery this old man.
- 28:36Speaker 1: It takes a little bit a little bit longer. And man,
- 28:39Speaker 1: I mean it's always fun, the energy and all that
- 28:41Speaker 1: sort of thing. But Pittsburgh it's a division rival. I mean,
- 28:45Speaker 1: that stadium is going to be rocking. It'll be good
- 28:48Speaker 1: to go there and get a W and get get
- 28:50Speaker 1: the first division win. That's first and foremost, get a
- 28:52Speaker 1: division win on the road and turn around that aspect
- 28:55Speaker 1: of things during the course of the season. Here starting
- 28:58Speaker 1: to out on three division is not a happy place
- 29:01Speaker 1: to be. So we shall see him. I'd love to
- 29:03Speaker 1: do it at one o'clock or four o'clock. You and
- 29:06Speaker 1: me both, I hear you, sir, Bengos Both. Podcast is

- 29:24Speaker 1: it's time for this week's fun Facts interview, where we
- 29:26Speaker 1: get to know the person under the pads. Time for
- 29:30Speaker 1: some fun facts with offensive lineman Alex Kappa from Dublin, California,
- 29:34Speaker 1: about a half an hour from San Francisco. That is
- 29:37Speaker 1: one of my favorite cities in the world to visit.
- 29:40Speaker 1: What were some of your favorite things about growing up
- 29:42Speaker 1: in the Bay Area. Oh, that's a good question. Weather's
- 29:46Speaker 1: pretty good. People are good. That's what made Dublins a
- 29:50Speaker 1: great place to grow up. It's just your family town. Yeah,
- 29:53Speaker 1: I was out in the suburbs, so we didn't really
- 29:55Speaker 1: make it into the city and stuff like that that often.
- 29:57Speaker 1: But it's all a great place to grow up. In addition,
- 30:00Speaker 1: end up playing sports as a kid. It sounds like
- 30:02Speaker 1: you were a drama kid. I was in school musicals
- 30:05Speaker 1: and plays and things like that. Did you act in
- 30:08Speaker 1: high school productions and it was just something you really enjoyed?
- 30:11Speaker 1: I did. I very much enjoyed it. My brothers kind
- 30:13Speaker 1: of got me into it. My two older brothers were
- 30:15Speaker 1: both in the theater and improv. I was making the improv.
- 30:19Speaker 1: That's where I met my wife, So I can't argue
- 30:21Speaker 1: with that. So I've read that you didn't play offensive
- 30:24Speaker 1: line until you were a senior in high school. How
- 30:26Speaker 1: did that come about? I started playing as a junior
- 30:29Speaker 1: a little bit. My first two years, I was a
- 30:32Speaker 1: tight end, and then we had a new coach come
- 30:35Speaker 1: in and we transitioned like a spread offense. We literally
- 30:38Speaker 1: weren't using the tight end at all, so I was
- 30:41Speaker 1: like a backup slot receiver and that wasn't gonna work.
- 30:44Speaker 1: So one day I was just like, ah, I just
- 30:46Speaker 1: played tackle, and he was like, yeah, might as well.
- 30:48Speaker 1: And then I kind of went back and forth in
- 30:50Speaker 1: high school. So like, if we had decided one game
- 30:53Speaker 1: we're gonna use the tight end, I would go throw
- 30:55Speaker 1: on a tight end jersey and maybe in the middle
- 30:57Speaker 1: of the game, I'll switch back and play tackle. Like
- 30:59Speaker 1: I was kind of going back and forth. You're a
- 31:01Speaker 1: large man now, but were you something of a late
- 31:04Speaker 1: bloomer in terms of your size. I was a little
- 31:07Speaker 1: skinny in high school, I would say. I was like
- 31:10Speaker 1: when I started playing tackle, I was like two twenty,
- 31:12Speaker 1: maybe a little less. I was a little skinny back
- 31:16Speaker 1: in the back. So your high school or your hometown newspaper,
- 31:20Speaker 1: I should say, said that you were a zero star
- 31:23Speaker 1: recruit and you wound up at Division two Humboldt State
- 31:26Speaker 1: in the northern part of California, just south of Oregon.
- 31:29Speaker 1: It's not a football factory, But was it right for you?
- 31:32Speaker 1: I was amazing as everything I could have hope for.
- 31:36Speaker 1: I had great teammates that wanted to work hard. Like
- 31:40Speaker 1: our old line room. We trained like we were all
- 31:42Speaker 1: going to the NFL. My strength coach was amazing, one
- 31:46Speaker 1: of the best strength coach in the country. He set
- 31:48Speaker 1: me up like, like I said, I was skinny when
- 31:50Speaker 1: I got there, I was definitely needed to develop. And
- 31:54Speaker 1: then we had a guy, Taylor Bobs, who was playing
- 31:56Speaker 1: offensive line in the NFL. Is the only other guy
- 31:58Speaker 1: from Humboldt in recent story to play in the NFL,
- 32:00Speaker 1: and he helped me out and got me going. How
- 32:04Speaker 1: about diet, Were you one of these guys that like
- 32:06Speaker 1: had to have the peanut butter and jelly sandwich at
- 32:08Speaker 1: midnight to try to put on weight stuff like that.
- 32:11Speaker 1: The go to after workouts early in college was chili dogs.
- 32:15Speaker 1: So we will go, like me and my roommate, he
- 32:18Speaker 1: was a receiver. He was hoping to get to like
- 32:19Speaker 1: one eighty and I was hoping to get a little
- 32:21Speaker 1: bigger than that. And we will go four chili dogs
- 32:25Speaker 1: with like a protein shake with ice cream and would
- 32:27Speaker 1: put card powder in it and all that, and we'ld
- 32:30Speaker 1: have like two dinners and another shake before beds. So
- 32:32Speaker 1: we were eating big time. You've come to the right
- 32:34Speaker 1: city if you have an affinity for chili dogs. May
- 32:37Speaker 1: have grown out of the chili dogs. I don't know.
- 32:41Speaker 1: Who need to pack on a way like I did
- 32:42Speaker 1: back then. We're chatting with Alex Cappa. You were quoted
- 32:45Speaker 1: as saying, if you want to be successful in football.
- 32:48Speaker 1: It has to be an obsession. Did that become the
- 32:51Speaker 1: case for you? What I tell like younger kids coming
- 32:54Speaker 1: up and high school kids, college kids is you have
- 32:57Speaker 1: to know, like what your goals are and your level
- 32:59Speaker 1: of commitment have to be line with those goals. So like,
- 33:02Speaker 1: if you're at Division two and you want to play
- 33:04Speaker 1: in the NFL, then you probably should be pretty freaking committed.
- 33:08Speaker 1: And if you just want to have fun, then you
- 33:10Speaker 1: just want to have fun. But I knew I wanted
- 33:12Speaker 1: to play at a high level, so I really prioritized it.
- 33:16Speaker 1: You had a great career at Humboldt State, four time
- 33:18Speaker 1: Alignment of the Year in your conference, you earned an
- 33:20Speaker 1: invitation to the Senior Bowl, and now you're up against
- 33:23Speaker 1: the best players in the country. How important was that
- 33:26Speaker 1: invite and having the opportunity to test yourself against the
- 33:29Speaker 1: Krem deal La Krem. Yeah, it was fun. I think
- 33:33Speaker 1: it kind of I was pretty confident going in, but
- 33:36Speaker 1: I think it kind of built my confidence as well,
- 33:38Speaker 1: like seeing some gosh from Breater schools and realized that
- 33:41Speaker 1: I act compete with these guys too, And then it
- 33:43Speaker 1: was just good for coaches to see that I could
- 33:46Speaker 1: as well, while you were there, the NFL networks Mike
- 33:50Speaker 1: Mayock famously said your tape was the nastiest he had
- 33:53Speaker 1: ever seen. What was your reaction when you heard that?
- 33:56Speaker 1: He hyped me up? Hyped up. That was a pretty
- 33:59Speaker 1: fun week. There were like a couple of things that
- 34:01Speaker 1: like people really caught onto that week. And you know,
- 34:04Speaker 1: when you're coming out, like the draft process, it feels
- 34:08Speaker 1: so big to you, like it feels like it's the
- 34:09Speaker 1: biggest thing and everybody's watching, and so it was cool
- 34:12Speaker 1: to get some shout outs like that and get a
- 34:14Speaker 1: lot of eyes on me. The draft worked out well.
- 34:17Speaker 1: You were a third round draft picked by the Tampa
- 34:18Speaker 1: Bay Buccaneers in twenty eighteen. Describe your draft experience. I
- 34:23Speaker 1: was kind of like hoping that was the second day,
- 34:25Speaker 1: and I went like at the end of the third round,
- 34:26Speaker 1: which is the end of the second day. So it
- 34:28Speaker 1: was me and my dad, my now wife, and like
- 34:32Speaker 1: one other friend to hanging out and it was like
- 34:35Speaker 1: getting the end of the second day, I was like,
- 34:36Speaker 1: come on, like hope and we don't have to come
- 34:39Speaker 1: back for that third day. And then that called from
- 34:42Speaker 1: Tampa caught me on guard. I'd like barely talk to
- 34:44Speaker 1: them at all, so that caught me off guard. But
- 34:46Speaker 1: it was a lot of fun. We went out and
- 34:47Speaker 1: got some peats afterwards, a good celebratory feast. We're chatting
- 34:52Speaker 1: me that like Skappa. So you go to the Bucks
- 34:54Speaker 1: in your third year, they signed Tom Brady. You guys
- 34:56Speaker 1: win the Super Bowl. Unfortunately you didn't get a chance
- 34:59Speaker 1: to playing the game because you broke your ankle in
- 35:02Speaker 1: the wildcard playoff round against Washington and tried to keep playing.
- 35:07Speaker 1: Can you explain how that one? Well? I tried. It
- 35:09Speaker 1: was two minute drive at the end of the first half,
- 35:12Speaker 1: and when you get hurt, you really don't want to
- 35:14Speaker 1: burn a time out in the two minute drive. So, like,
- 35:17Speaker 1: I never didn't feel good. I tried to pop up,
- 35:20Speaker 1: but like I took too long to get up, So
- 35:22Speaker 1: then they blew it dead and Tom's yelling at me,
- 35:25Speaker 1: like what are we doing? Come on? So I went
- 35:28Speaker 1: to the locker room and I didn't know it was broken.
- 35:30Speaker 1: I just thought it was like spraying. So you know,
- 35:32Speaker 1: they tape you up and all that. Everyone comes to
- 35:34Speaker 1: locker room for halftime like are you good? Are you good?
- 35:36Speaker 1: I'm like, yeah, I'm good. I guess and I went
- 35:39Speaker 1: out to warm up, and I was definitely not good.
- 35:41Speaker 1: I tried, but I unsuccessful. Was the Super Bowl bitter
- 35:45Speaker 1: suite at all? Since you had started every game and
- 35:48Speaker 1: didn't give up a sack that year, but couldn't play
- 35:50Speaker 1: in the game itself. I mean, you want to be
- 35:52Speaker 1: out there, for sure. It was a unique experience because
- 35:55Speaker 1: it was COVID too, so it was like you were
- 35:58Speaker 1: limited on how much you could even be in there
- 35:59Speaker 1: if you weren't active and all that. So it was weird,
- 36:02Speaker 1: but obviously I was. It was a lot of fun,
- 36:06Speaker 1: pretty cool experience for sure. You became a free agent
- 36:09Speaker 1: this year. You were one of the first guys to sign,
- 36:11Speaker 1: showing how eager the Bengals were to bring you into
- 36:14Speaker 1: this organization. It's been reported that Tom Brady called and
- 36:18Speaker 1: tried to get you to change your mind. Did that
- 36:20Speaker 1: in fact happen? Oh, keep those conversations to ourselves. But
- 36:24Speaker 1: I was very excited to come here, for sure. So
- 36:27Speaker 1: as a Super Bowl champion, you got the opportunity to
- 36:30Speaker 1: go to the White House. What was that experience like
- 36:32Speaker 1: for you? It was pretty cool. I was hoping we
- 36:34Speaker 1: would get a little more time there. It's kind of
- 36:36Speaker 1: like rush. It's a they're busy over there, so let's
- 36:38Speaker 1: kind of flying and fly out. But it was really
- 36:41Speaker 1: cool and I want to go back and see more.
- 36:43Speaker 1: I haven't really been to DC much, but it was cool.
- 36:46Speaker 1: The whole experience was really cool. I like that history,
- 36:50Speaker 1: so I enjoyed it all right. Some wild card topics
- 36:52Speaker 1: now with Alex Kappa. I've read that you can juggle?
- 36:56Speaker 1: Is that the case? And how many items I can?
- 36:58Speaker 1: It's been a while. I aren't to good be able
- 37:00Speaker 1: to jumble A four pretty good right now? Definitely just three.
- 37:05Speaker 1: H I'd do a few little tricks, but it's been
- 37:07Speaker 1: a while, so I'll stick with three for now. Have
- 37:09Speaker 1: you had any paying jobs aside from professional football player? Yeah,
- 37:14Speaker 1: I played. I worked for the Humboldt Crabs. It was
- 37:18Speaker 1: like a college summer team up in Humboldt base Baseball. Yeah,
- 37:22Speaker 1: and we were security slash clean up, so we would
- 37:26Speaker 1: somebody would get too rowdy, would have to take them out.
- 37:28Speaker 1: For the most part, we were sweeping up some flower
- 37:30Speaker 1: scenes after the game. But it was a lot of fun.
- 37:32Speaker 1: We had a bunch of football players that would do
- 37:33Speaker 1: that job. Have you saved any Humboldt Crabs gear. Oh,
- 37:36Speaker 1: I got something for sure, as my wife was wearing
- 37:39Speaker 1: a sweater last night. Humblet Crabs. How about that? When
- 37:42Speaker 1: was the last time you had short hair? Because you've
- 37:44Speaker 1: got the long flowing locks now. I think the sixth
- 37:47Speaker 1: grade sixth grade shaved it in sixth grade and said
- 37:51Speaker 1: I've had it long. Did your parents ever, you know,
- 37:53Speaker 1: give you any crap about it or did they say,
- 37:55Speaker 1: you know, hair is a battle we don't want to fight. No,
- 37:57Speaker 1: they didn't mind. There was a They try to use
- 38:00Speaker 1: those like leverage. I guess as long as you got
- 38:02Speaker 1: good grades, you'd have long hair. Like that'll work all right.
- 38:04Speaker 1: I've got a sixteen year old that's good to remember
- 38:06Speaker 1: because his hair is getting very long. What do you
- 38:08Speaker 1: like to splur John? What do you like to spend
- 38:10Speaker 1: your money on food? As in nice restaurants? Yeah? Nice restaurants,
- 38:16Speaker 1: I would say, is the main thing? Says that I
- 38:19Speaker 1: don't know. Do you have an all time favorite restaurant? Not?
- 38:23Speaker 1: The one that comes to mind is valves Burgers in
- 38:27Speaker 1: Hayward or maybe cash a Falley in California. Growing up,
- 38:30Speaker 1: we'll go all the time. It's like a fifty style
- 38:31Speaker 1: diner with a huge cheeseburger's delicious. It sounds like like diners,
- 38:36Speaker 1: drives and dive in or whatever. I forget those words,
- 38:39Speaker 1: but you know what I'm talking. I think they may
- 38:41Speaker 1: have stopped there. It's got good shake, its good fries,
- 38:43Speaker 1: good everything. All right, I'm gonna have to scribble that
- 38:45Speaker 1: one down for the next time I'm in the Bay Area.
- 38:47Speaker 1: Final fun fact for Alex Kappan. I appreciate your time.
- 38:50Speaker 1: This is kind of deep. If you could meet anybody
- 38:54Speaker 1: in history, athlete, actor, statesman, religious figure, whoever it might be,
- 39:00Speaker 1: who would that person be, I don't know, probably like
- 39:04Speaker 1: some old president or something, George Washington or do something
- 39:07Speaker 1: like that. One of those guys who was in the
- 39:10Speaker 1: room back then, you know, one of the room where
- 39:12Speaker 1: it happens it half Maybe one of those guys. That'd
- 39:14Speaker 1: be interesting. Hard to go wrong with. The father of
- 39:16Speaker 1: our country. Can't go wrong with that. This has been fun.
- 39:19Speaker 1: I appreciate your time. It's great to have you on
- 39:21Speaker 1: the team. Best of what the rest of the year.
