- 0:00Hello, I'm here with Owen Moore. Beware holding and symbol Bew on
- 0:05the adventure Exchange and BEWFF on the OTC.
- 0:08And the reason we're here today is because Owen has created and
- 0:11his company have created something entirely unique in the
- 0:14IoT space where his very low cost units are able to connect
- 0:19directly to the new ASTS satellite network.
- 0:22And Owen's going to explain to us the real import of this new
- 0:26innovation. So Owen, thank you for joining
- 0:28me today. And I'm going to give you the
- 0:29floor here for 3 or 4 minutes to really kind of give us a, the
- 0:33setup of what was happening before your achievement here and
- 0:37what you see as the really the, the game plan going forward and
- 0:41how this market's going to open up with your new product.
- 0:46Excellent. Well, thank you for having me on
- 0:47today, Keith. I certainly appreciate it.
- 0:50It's exciting times in the white wireless technology field.
- 0:53AST Space Mobile is completing a constellation of satellites that
- 1:01traditionally have been discussed around providing
- 1:03broadband connectivity for any cell phone wherever you happen
- 1:09to be in the world, whether you're within cell coverage or
- 1:11within remote areas. The thing that we did completed
- 1:16last week and announced just yesterday is, is we took one of
- 1:21our commercial IoT asset trackers that leverages low
- 1:25power 5G technology and we successfully connected that to
- 1:29the AST space mobile network and transmitted our asset tracking
- 1:34data over that network through Bell's landline network into our
- 1:40AWS servers and and provided that information in our
- 1:42application. To our knowledge, this is the
- 1:45first time a low power 5G asset tracker has been connected to
- 1:49AST space mobiles constellation of satellites and and the
- 1:54importance in the industry is that our our, our our price
- 1:58points are already among the lowest in the market.
- 2:02They were traditionally limited to cellular traffic, cellular
- 2:06transmission within cellular coverage.
- 2:09And, and as as the constellation of AS TS network gets spilled
- 2:13out, this will provide ubiquitous coverage for our
- 2:16clients. They will be able to leverage
- 2:19hardware that they've already deployed in the field.
- 2:22And, and, and it'll bring the price points down for satellite
- 2:26asset tracking significantly from from where that's been
- 2:29historically. The satellite asset tracking
- 2:31market is, is recognized to be somewhere between 6:00 and $12
- 2:35billion annually. And, and as you reduce these
- 2:39price points, we're going to see that addressable market just
- 2:43expand even more rapidly. You know, as you as you reduce
- 2:47the price points of the product and the solution, it opens up a
- 2:51larger number of assets and lower valued assets to be
- 2:55tracked. And and I think that that's
- 2:57that's what's generating the excitement about the news that
- 2:59we put out yesterday. So I heard two things here. 1 is
- 3:03that you've created this new connectivity on a very low cost
- 3:07device that opens up more Tam and functionality.
- 3:12But two, your existing client base doesn't need to buy a new
- 3:16piece of equipment for this. This this works on your existing
- 3:19hardware that you've got already got deployed out of the field.
- 3:21Is that what I heard correctly? That's correct.
- 3:24It's it's AST is backwards compatible.
- 3:28It communicates with our cellular module in our device
- 3:33without any expensive satellite technology.
- 3:35That that's the beauty of ASTS technology backwards compatible.
- 3:40So you've been in business now for many years and you've
- 3:44deployed in total how many devices out there in the
- 3:48worldwide field that? Yeah, we, we've sold, we're
- 3:51approaching 500,000 devices. So we've sold since about late
- 3:552018 when we launched our first low power 5G asset tracking
- 4:01product. And so all your distributors now
- 4:04have all this new information. And again, it's, it's all about
- 4:08price point is what I'm hearing. You're you're, you've said
- 4:11before that your client base is very price sensitive.
- 4:16Listen, bringing the price points down is an effective
- 4:20mechanism to disrupt the existing market.
- 4:23That's what we did, you know, 6-7 years ago when we launched
- 4:26products using leveraging low power 5G, low power 5G modules
- 4:33were significantly cheaper than earlier generations.
- 4:37It supports an, an architecture that that is a little bit
- 4:41simpler, but but a lot more efficient from a price
- 4:44perspective. And, and so you know, back then
- 4:47we disrupted the asset tracking market that was terrestrial
- 4:50based, cellular based. Today there's an opportunity to
- 4:53disrupt the the satellite based asset tracking market by by
- 4:58leveraging our relationship with with AST and Bell Canada, AT&T
- 5:03and, and, and, and we're excited about the possibilities.
- 5:07Anytime you can you you know, bring a product to market that's
- 5:10a fraction of the cost of existing solutions, it opens up
- 5:14huge opportunities. We're now on the 6th generation
- 5:17of product key three. We have all the reliability
- 5:20functions and features as our competitors at at a much lower
- 5:24price point. And so the company's been
- 5:28profitable now for or at least positive cash flow.
- 5:31For. Over a year with maybe 1/4 that
- 5:34didn't quite make it. But with this type of new
- 5:39achievement, how long do you think that takes to filter into
- 5:41the market? Is is there any kind of history
- 5:43that your team has? It says OK, every time we get a
- 5:45new technological success, the industry starts to pick it up in
- 5:51X time frame. Is that a fair thing to ask, or
- 5:54is that not really the way it works?
- 5:56No, it's, it's certainly a fair question.
- 5:58So the, the, the constellation of AST satellites is in the
- 6:03midst of being rolled out and and I believe they have plans
- 6:07moving into 2026 to fill out that constellation.
- 6:11One of the reason AST gets evaluations they do is because
- 6:16as soon as that constellations filled out and they turn on the
- 6:19commercial service, the revenues going to start flowing in
- 6:22immediately. And, and, and, and that's the
- 6:25point where we're going to see the opportunity hit.
- 6:29Beware from a financial perspective when the
- 6:32constellation's fully deployed commercialized, we'll have
- 6:35product that's already in the field that will leverage it that
- 6:39we'll be able to make a little extra money on.
- 6:41But more importantly than that, it's going to open up a variety
- 6:44of industries for us that we haven't played in the past.
- 6:48That could be industries in remote areas such as natural
- 6:53resources, mining, fisheries, you know, industries that
- 6:58typically operate at least a segment of the time outside of
- 7:02traditional cellular coverage. Ocean going straight.
- 7:06Third world is another one. Third world is another one.
- 7:09Exactly. I interrupted you there.
- 7:12You, you said one other thing, OK, not Terry.
- 7:18So Owen, just OK. So that's amazing.
- 7:22Thank you. I guess just before we sign off,
- 7:24I'd ask you a couple quick questions here, if I could.
- 7:28You have been a little more vocal the last two or three
- 7:30quarters about being able to give away the product and charge
- 7:32a higher monthly recurring revenue.
- 7:35How's that going? How is that working?
- 7:38How does that show up in your financials?
- 7:41OK. So, yeah, we, we have started,
- 7:43we started a process as of January of this year to allow
- 7:48people to purchase a product under a finance model very
- 7:52similar to what you would see with, you know, when you're,
- 7:56when you're financing a car. So the current structure, the
- 7:59the current method that it takes place is that, you know, we sign
- 8:04a client up for a term, they pay us monthly.
- 8:07A portion of that monthly is assigned to the hardware because
- 8:10it's a finance and because we transfer ownership, we are
- 8:14recognizing today the, the hardware out front.
- 8:19And then we have a long term receivable showing up in our
- 8:21financial statements that you'll see going up as we do more and
- 8:25more of this type of solution. That's one model that's that's
- 8:28one way that we've started with. I think what you discussed is,
- 8:33you know, how do you use a, a, a new model to drive your
- 8:36recurring revenue? And the way you do that is by
- 8:39renting the, the product to people and, and not transferring
- 8:43ownership. And when you do that, you're
- 8:45pushing all of the recurring revenue into a, a, a monthly
- 8:50recognizable fee. And, and that's something that
- 8:53we're contemplating going forward, but it's been going
- 8:56great. We do about 8000 units 1/4 under
- 8:58the finance model. It's, it's, it's received a, a
- 9:02lot of attention and, and then you know, it's because some,
- 9:05some companies, some end users and clients and won't have
- 9:09capital budget. And so if you can provide them
- 9:12the solution under, under an operational budget, it, it, it,
- 9:17it makes it easier for them to procure.
- 9:19And, and that's something we like.
- 9:21It is been something that we've leveraged our our balance sheet
- 9:25that we've grown over the years organically and and we think
- 9:28it's a good use of proceeds. Right, because at one point in
- 9:31time you had over $8 million on the balance sheet and then the
- 9:34last quarter you had last week was?
- 9:37That wasn't, that wasn't us, Keith.
- 9:39We've, we have about 4.5 million on the balance sheet today.
- 9:42I think it's been as high as 5.5 and we've started to deploy a
- 9:47little bit. But I think what you're talking
- 9:48about is our working cap is positive to the tune of about 7
- 9:53to $8 million. And so giving it away for free
- 9:57with a higher MRR that's meeting good demand is what I'm hearing.
- 10:01That's right, that's right. It's and it's, it's, you know,
- 10:04more importantly than that, if it's pirates don't have capital
- 10:06budget, they just might not have an opportunity to buy from us
- 10:10and we may lose that to a competitor just because they're
- 10:13they're offering it under an operational budget.
- 10:17Got it. And first step that was a big
- 10:21contract back in August. Has has that been completely
- 10:23rolled out or? Yeah, I, I believe by the end of
- 10:27September we did deployed 7000 of the 8000 unit order from AT&T
- 10:33and the other thousand have gone out the door since.
- 10:35So it was a quick hit It it was, you know, typically we're
- 10:38dealing with longer sales cycles.
- 10:40This sale cycle was only about six weeks from the time it was
- 10:44brought up, negotiated to to sign and closed.
- 10:47Why? Do you think that was?
- 10:50I think we're seeing demand in the marketplace from first
- 10:53responders for Firstnet type solution.
- 10:56I mean Firstnet is a unique offering.
- 10:58It's ensuring first responders connectivity when congestion
- 11:03builds up during a disaster. And, and so there's a, a
- 11:07compelling value proposition for first responders to, to
- 11:11leverage, you know, the Firstnet network and, and devices and
- 11:15phones that, that are certified on Firstnet.
- 11:19I think you're going to see more expansion in Firstnet from us.
- 11:21And there's a nice correlation between Firstnet and AST.
- 11:26You know, if, if the disaster is so severe that cell sites are
- 11:31getting knocked down, prioritized service on cellular
- 11:34won't provide anything to you. AST is that secondary level of
- 11:39backup in that you know, there's there's no restrictions on
- 11:43coverage and if cell sites are getting knocked out, AST can
- 11:47provide dot connectivity through through the satellites.
- 11:50It, it all these technologies are converging to provide a more
- 11:55compelling solution to to users today than we've ever seen in
- 11:59the past. Got it.
- 12:02You know, you're going to report your quarterly, you know, almost
- 12:04exactly a month, it's the end of the month here in October and
- 12:06you're going to be announcing at the end of November.
- 12:09But I don't want to ask anything inappropriate, but one thing I'd
- 12:12be curious about is, is there any particular sector, vertical
- 12:16industry that you've seen a greater pick up of the product
- 12:20and service this year versus other years?
- 12:261st that being an obvious example I guess, but.
- 12:29Yeah. Listen, transportation and
- 12:31logistics has always been our bread and butter.
- 12:33A smart, ITS that's continuing to be a, a, a market that is
- 12:39growing for us and, and a market that we're going to continue to
- 12:42focus on. But, you know, these solutions
- 12:45around Firstnet are, are opening up markets that, that we haven't
- 12:49been as involved with as we have with transportation.
- 12:55So, you know, monitoring things like defibrillators, like
- 12:58equipment bags, like medical bags, like stretchers, it's,
- 13:02it's a massive market. There's a, a real need for it
- 13:06and, and, and, and our solutions perform well.
- 13:10The other area that we're starting to see some uptake and
- 13:14you know in the most recent death we talked a little bit
- 13:16about Boeing, but we are seeing attraction coming in the airline
- 13:22industry, not just Boeing, the airline operators as well.
- 13:25So tracking air side equipment like baggage carts, like
- 13:29elevators, you know, golf carts in the terminals, construction
- 13:33equipment in the terminals, wheelchairs, those types of
- 13:37assets. So, you know, we're, we're, we
- 13:39think the IoT market is really just hitting its stride.
- 13:42I, I know it was popular, you know, almost eight years ago.
- 13:46That's when the, the capital markets got behind it.
- 13:49But you know, we're seeing the growth in, in IoT happened today
- 13:53And, and sometimes that happens, right.
- 13:55You, you've seen a big push on AI lately in machine learning
- 14:00and, and, or, or supercomputing and, and sometimes, you know,
- 14:06the, the, the investor market is the end of the market of the
- 14:09product. And, and I think we're, we're
- 14:11seeing AIIOT catch up really quickly.
- 14:15And we're, we're excited. It's it's a, it's a good time to
- 14:18be in the IO team. Owen, thank you so much for your
- 14:22time today. Very grateful.
- 14:23Thank you, Sir.
