- 0:00Speaker 1: Hey, it's your person, Michelle. Yay. I guess. Yeah, I'm
- 0:06Speaker 1: not having a really good day, I guess. So I'm
- 0:10Speaker 1: gonna do the best I can to make this okay.
- 0:14Speaker 1: I don't know that I ever make these okay, but
- 0:18Speaker 1: if I do, I'm gonna try to do at least
- 0:20Speaker 1: that decent of quality, I guess. If not, I hope
- 0:25Speaker 1: it's as bad as usual. I don't know, guys. So, yeah,
- 0:30Speaker 1: I don't really have anything interesting to talk about. I know,
- 0:34Speaker 1: I've been kind of just talking about Donda non before
- 0:37Speaker 1: a lot of the episodes, but like, I don't fucking care.
- 0:41Speaker 1: This week it was fine. Sorry, Yeah, I don't know.
- 0:44Speaker 1: I'm just it's just not been not been good today. Anyway,
- 0:47Speaker 1: that doesn't matter because we're gonna talk about Banana Fish
- 0:50Speaker 1: episode eighteen, which I am so excited to talk about,
- 0:56Speaker 1: so hopefully I can find that enter and make this okay. Yeah,
- 1:03Speaker 1: let's let's see maybe. So episode eighteen is called Islands
- 1:09Speaker 1: in the Stream, which I am not going to explain
- 1:12Speaker 1: to you because it's relevant to the episode and we'll
- 1:15Speaker 1: just talk about it as it comes up. But it's
- 1:17Speaker 1: one of the few episode titles that you know, actually
- 1:20Speaker 1: makes sense with the episode, so good on them. So
- 1:24Speaker 1: if you remember at the end of the last episode,
- 1:26Speaker 1: fucking kipperd was fucking shot in the head by Blanca,
- 1:32Speaker 1: that new dude that we have in the show now,
- 1:34Speaker 1: and then like we ended with him like walking down
- 1:37Speaker 1: the street. So this happens, I guess not directly after that,
- 1:41Speaker 1: but soon after, maybe the next day. In fact, definitely
- 1:46Speaker 1: the next day. So we start the episode with like
- 1:49Speaker 1: a bunch of cars like driving on a highway and stuff.
- 1:52Speaker 1: And there's also like a blue like tractor trailer truck
- 1:56Speaker 1: that's like carrying something that looks like maybe it's oil
- 2:00Speaker 1: or some sort of fuel because it's got that shape
- 2:02Speaker 1: to it, like that it has liquid in it, you know.
- 2:05Speaker 1: And we hear a voice say, did you get a
- 2:07Speaker 1: hold of Kippard? Oh, and we see that it is
- 2:10Speaker 1: Colonel Holestock. He's in the back seat of this car
- 2:14Speaker 1: I guess it's driving on the highway and he's talking
- 2:16Speaker 1: on the phone and he says fine then and then
- 2:19Speaker 1: to the driver he's like, you better keep your loins
- 2:22Speaker 1: in check too. What The driver like smiles and he's like,
- 2:25Speaker 1: are you kidding? I know how he and he is
- 2:28Speaker 1: shot in the head right through the front windshield. So
- 2:32Speaker 1: obviously he loses control of the car because he's dead now,
- 2:35Speaker 1: and they fucking smash into the truck and then we
- 2:37Speaker 1: see this giant explosion. Yay, I think that means that
- 2:41Speaker 1: hole Stock is dead. And then we know the opening. Yeah,
- 2:45Speaker 1: that was a little bit too excited, but whatever. Back
- 2:49Speaker 1: from the opening, we open on Ash who is asleep
- 2:53Speaker 1: in bed on his stomach, kind of tangled up in
- 2:56Speaker 1: some blankets. Then we hear Ag saying Ash, Ash, and
- 3:01Speaker 1: he's standing over him, and he's like, this is the
- 3:03Speaker 1: fifth time. Wake up already. It's way past noon. Let
- 3:07Speaker 1: him sleep. He told you that he was going prostituting,
- 3:11Speaker 1: you know, he was out late. Ash like kind of
- 3:14Speaker 1: stirs and he like makes a sound, but he's like
- 3:18Speaker 1: not getting up and I don't think he's awake at
- 3:21Speaker 1: all at this point, and Age's like, geez, how do
- 3:24Speaker 1: you stay alive like this? And he's like pulling the
- 3:27Speaker 1: covers and like trying to get Ash to wake up,
- 3:30Speaker 1: and he continues, I made breakfast. I'm waking you up
- 3:34Speaker 1: if it's the last thing I do. He like pulls
- 3:37Speaker 1: Ash along with the covers, and then we cut to
- 3:40Speaker 1: Ag closing the shower curtain and he says, a shower
- 3:44Speaker 1: should wake you up. And he's starting to leave the
- 3:46Speaker 1: bathroom and he says, just make sure you take off
- 3:48Speaker 1: your underwear, okay, And he closes the door and he
- 3:51Speaker 1: stops and he's like hmm. He goes back into the
- 3:54Speaker 1: bathroom and he opens the shower curtain again and he
- 3:57Speaker 1: sees Ash laying in the tub on his side, like
- 4:01Speaker 1: kind of curled up, just totally asleep, and he sighs.
- 4:07Speaker 1: We then cut to a bowl of salad and then
- 4:12Speaker 1: some yogurts and some like fruits, and a croissant and
- 4:15Speaker 1: some bacon eggs on a table. That's a nice spread. Agy,
- 4:18Speaker 1: good job, really nice breakfast, and Ag says, here avocado
- 4:23Speaker 1: and trim salad your favorite. Oh I also probably like that.
- 4:27Speaker 1: Eat and you'll wake up. Ash is sort of awake,
- 4:30Speaker 1: I guess. I mean he's sitting up and he takes
- 4:32Speaker 1: a bite, but he looks so out of it, like
- 4:37Speaker 1: he is chewing so mechanically, and Ag, who is now
- 4:42Speaker 1: with the refrigerator, says, hold on, let me get you
- 4:44Speaker 1: some milk. He opens the milk and he looks back
- 4:47Speaker 1: over and Ash is just asleep in the food, still
- 4:51Speaker 1: holding his fork. We cut to the shower head being
- 4:54Speaker 1: turned on and we hear AG say, how's that. Ash
- 4:58Speaker 1: is kind of s in the tub as the water
- 5:02Speaker 1: just rains down on him. He still doesn't look like
- 5:05Speaker 1: he's awake. By the way, I also wonder if he
- 5:07Speaker 1: still has his underwear on, but we don't know, and
- 5:10Speaker 1: Age's like, breakfast is in five minutes, Okay, he walks out.
- 5:14Speaker 1: Ash is still not really there for a second, but
- 5:18Speaker 1: then he like kind of looks up. I guess the
- 5:20Speaker 1: water finally gets to him and he moves his hair
- 5:24Speaker 1: away from his face and size. We go to Ag
- 5:28Speaker 1: reading the New York Journal and he looks over as
- 5:30Speaker 1: he hears the door open. Ash emerges, fully dressed and
- 5:34Speaker 1: with a towel that he's using to dry his hair,
- 5:36Speaker 1: and Age's like, finally Ash opens the fridge and he's like,
- 5:41Speaker 1: when'd you get up? Age says, eight thirty? What do
- 5:44Speaker 1: you have low blood pressure or something? He smirks, you're
- 5:48Speaker 1: like a frail little girl. And Ash is like, only
- 5:52Speaker 1: the elderly get up early. Why don't you start some
- 5:54Speaker 1: early morning croquet? He smirks, and he drinks some milk
- 5:58Speaker 1: straight out of the carton. AG is like gripping the
- 6:01Speaker 1: newspaper angrily now and he thinks, damn it, he's fully awake. Now,
- 6:06Speaker 1: it's your fault. You woke him up. Ash sits down
- 6:09Speaker 1: and he's like, oh, avocado's from salad. Ag looks over
- 6:13Speaker 1: and Ash continues, someone's already eaten some and AG's like,
- 6:18Speaker 1: it was you. Ash takes a bite, totally unfazed, like
- 6:22Speaker 1: he's not just stressing the hell out of Ag, and
- 6:25Speaker 1: he's like, this is really good. You'd make a really
- 6:27Speaker 1: good wife. Okay. Ag takes a brief pause to regain
- 6:33Speaker 1: his composure, and then he looks back the newspaper and says,
- 6:37Speaker 1: I've never heard of an American that hates hamburgers, and
- 6:40Speaker 1: Ash is like, what's wrong with that? Not all Japanese
- 6:42Speaker 1: people like not toe either. AG frowns and he thinks
- 6:47Speaker 1: he's still mad about the NATO and Ash's like, let
- 6:50Speaker 1: me see the paper. Ag says, read it later, and
- 6:54Speaker 1: Ash just like, you take way too long to read,
- 6:57Speaker 1: pig bro, Why don't you go learn English with some
- 7:00Speaker 1: ask Tome Street first? Okay, And he's pulling like a
- 7:03Speaker 1: really convincingly concerned face. AG kind of growls, but eventually
- 7:09Speaker 1: he just hands the newspaper over to Ash and as
- 7:11Speaker 1: just like thanks, I'll buy you a comic book. Later.
- 7:14Speaker 1: Ag kind of like leans over the table, like trying
- 7:18Speaker 1: to look at the paper, and he's like, what's in there?
- 7:19Speaker 1: What's the news? And Ash is like, don't worry, big bro,
- 7:23Speaker 1: and he pushes AG's face out of the way and
- 7:26Speaker 1: he's like, keep your nose out of it. As Ash
- 7:29Speaker 1: reads the newspaper, Ag stands behind him with the floor
- 7:32Speaker 1: lamp raised, trying to decide whether he should hit him
- 7:35Speaker 1: or not. And the doorbell rings and Ash's like, hey,
- 7:38Speaker 1: someone's at the door. Ag, still standing behind him with
- 7:41Speaker 1: the lamp, is like, I'm not your maid, and Ash's like, okay, yeah,
- 7:44Speaker 1: of course you're not. And Ag just kind of goes
- 7:47Speaker 1: to the door anyway, and we hear like the door open.
- 7:50Speaker 1: And as this is happening, Ash is looking kind of
- 7:52Speaker 1: contentedly at the newspaper. For a minutes. He was having
- 7:56Speaker 1: a really nice time stressing out Ag apparently, but then
- 8:00Speaker 1: and his expression gets really serious. He puts down the
- 8:03Speaker 1: paper and thinks it's not in the news yet. Who
- 8:06Speaker 1: killed Kippard? And why we get a quick flash of
- 8:10Speaker 1: the previous episode where kipperd is getting shot and stuff
- 8:13Speaker 1: and Ash thinks that was definitely the work of a pro.
- 8:17Speaker 1: Then we hear AG say ebase on and Ash looks up.
- 8:22Speaker 1: We see Shoonichi and Eba standing I guess, like in
- 8:26Speaker 1: the hall or something, and Shnici's like, I was worried
- 8:29Speaker 1: to death. Ag looks kind of ashamed and he's like,
- 8:32Speaker 1: I'm sorry, and Shanci says, I'm just glad you're safe. Ash,
- 8:37Speaker 1: I guess arrives in the doorway and he's just kind
- 8:41Speaker 1: of watching them, and then Max appears behind Ash and
- 8:44Speaker 1: he's like, yo, can I bar you for a minute.
- 8:47Speaker 1: We go to what might be a coffee shop. I
- 8:49Speaker 1: don't really know, but there are people looks like they're
- 8:51Speaker 1: drinking beverages and it doesn't look like a bar, and
- 8:54Speaker 1: Max and Ash are sitting at like a table with
- 8:57Speaker 1: their beverages and Max says, I showed you report to
- 9:00Speaker 1: a psychopharmacologist. He was impressed, but then he realizes Ash
- 9:05Speaker 1: is like not really there, and he's like, hey, are
- 9:07Speaker 1: you listening? Ashley just kind of staring at the table solemnly,
- 9:12Speaker 1: and he looks up and he's like what Yeah. Then
- 9:15Speaker 1: he kind of looks down again, and there's a TV
- 9:17Speaker 1: in the background with a headline on it that says
- 9:21Speaker 1: breaking news, explosion on Highway eighty seven. It's actually Interstate
- 9:25Speaker 1: eighty seven, not Highway eighty seven, but I'll give him that.
- 9:29Speaker 1: And we hear the newscasters say there's been an accident
- 9:32Speaker 1: on I eighty seven. Colonel Thomas Holstock died in the crash.
- 9:36Speaker 1: Ash looks over. Max's like divine punishment maybe, and Ash's like, no,
- 9:42Speaker 1: it wasn't an accident. We cut to a rundown room
- 9:47Speaker 1: with a long table in the middle and a really
- 9:50Speaker 1: nice radiator because radiators are awesome, and Max and Ash
- 9:55Speaker 1: are in the room and Max says, from here and
- 9:58Speaker 1: he's looking out the window, and Ash says, KIPPERD and Holstock,
- 10:03Speaker 1: there's no way this is a coincidence. The killer just
- 10:05Speaker 1: made it look like an accident. Good job, Ash. Oh,
- 10:09Speaker 1: and I'm supposed to tell you that Ash is wearing
- 10:11Speaker 1: the jean jacket from the manga that he always wears,
- 10:14Speaker 1: so I was really happy about that. Anyway, He continues,
- 10:17Speaker 1: if he's skilled enough to shoot Kipperd from here, it's possible,
- 10:20Speaker 1: and he thinks could it be? And he gasps because
- 10:24Speaker 1: he sees a green book laying on a box on
- 10:28Speaker 1: the floor, and we cut closer to it and we
- 10:30Speaker 1: see that it is Islands in the Stream by Ernest Hemingway.
- 10:34Speaker 1: There's the title. Ash looks terrified and he thinks, Blanca.
- 10:41Speaker 1: We cut to Blanca in a rope in some room
- 10:44Speaker 1: on the phone and he says, I'm glad to hear
- 10:47Speaker 1: you're satisfied. Good day, and he hangs up. We see
- 10:50Speaker 1: a picture on the desk in the room and it's
- 10:54Speaker 1: of Ash and Ag just like hanging out and talking
- 10:56Speaker 1: outside somewhere. Blanca smiles and he says things are about
- 11:01Speaker 1: to get busy for you, Blanca. I don't know what
- 11:06Speaker 1: you're doing, but like you should stop please. We cut
- 11:10Speaker 1: to the White House, and I don't mean a white house,
- 11:12Speaker 1: I mean the White House and its exterior shots. We
- 11:16Speaker 1: hear smiles say it's a crucial trump card, and we
- 11:20Speaker 1: see he's on the phone like looking out the window,
- 11:23Speaker 1: and he continues to just let it go to waste.
- 11:26Speaker 1: Is the foundation is pretty much in his hands. Now,
- 11:30Speaker 1: what shall we do? Your excellency, I don't know who
- 11:33Speaker 1: you call, Your excellency, but are we trying to suggest
- 11:36Speaker 1: that this is the president or like a I don't
- 11:38Speaker 1: know anyway, that's all we get that. Now we are
- 11:44Speaker 1: looking at the window of an apartment with blinds closed,
- 11:48Speaker 1: like from the outside through what looks like a telescope,
- 11:51Speaker 1: like we've got kind of a round view of it.
- 11:55Speaker 1: And we hear Blanca say, that's his hideout right there,
- 11:58Speaker 1: just opposite of your office. Fuck, that wasn't so hard.
- 12:03Speaker 1: Dino is looking through the telescope and he's like he
- 12:06Speaker 1: never ceases to amaze me. Grous Yue Lung is also
- 12:10Speaker 1: there and he's like, it's darkest under the lamp post
- 12:13Speaker 1: or so, they say. I don't know anyone who says that,
- 12:16Speaker 1: and Blanc is like, and he is. Dino says, mister
- 12:21Speaker 1: Lee Yue Lung of the Lee Conglomerates. He's the one
- 12:25Speaker 1: who devised this plan. Blanc is like, I see, it's
- 12:29Speaker 1: in honor to meet you. Yue Lung says, what are
- 12:31Speaker 1: you going to show us today? Blanc is like, you'll see.
- 12:35Speaker 1: Just wait. They all look out the window and we
- 12:38Speaker 1: are now seeing them from outside of the window that
- 12:42Speaker 1: they are in the I guess apartment building, and Blanca
- 12:47Speaker 1: continues he won't be able to keep from trying to
- 12:49Speaker 1: find out. Ue Lung's like, I see you know Ash
- 12:53Speaker 1: very well, and Blanca says, I guess I do. He
- 12:56Speaker 1: takes off his glasses and he says, I'm the one
- 12:59Speaker 1: who taught him. I mean sort of we kind of
- 13:01Speaker 1: already knew that, but oh, if this dude is this
- 13:06Speaker 1: good at finding people at shooting people, it would make
- 13:09Speaker 1: sense as to why Ash is so good at those
- 13:11Speaker 1: things too. We go to Ash, who is sitting on
- 13:14Speaker 1: the couch in the apartments. He's looking pretty stressed and
- 13:18Speaker 1: at the floor, and he thinks, if my guess is right,
- 13:22Speaker 1: he walks to the window and he pulls open the
- 13:25Speaker 1: curtains and he just stands there for minutes and then thinks,
- 13:31Speaker 1: was that wrong, Ash? Were you expected to get shot?
- 13:35Speaker 1: What the fuck? Then Ag opens the door from the
- 13:39Speaker 1: other room and he's holding a couple of mugs and
- 13:42Speaker 1: he says, Ash want some, and Ash is like, stay back,
- 13:45Speaker 1: and it's too late, and Ag is just like shot,
- 13:47Speaker 1: just like that in the right shoulder, and he falls backwards,
- 13:51Speaker 1: dropping the mugs, and Ash lunges onto him to protect him.
- 13:55Speaker 1: So they're on the floor and there's bullets flying through
- 13:57Speaker 1: the window, like landing around them, and it's actually really sweet.
- 14:01Speaker 1: And Bones and Kong, who are also in the other room,
- 14:04Speaker 1: come to the doorway and they're like boss, and Ash says,
- 14:07Speaker 1: turn off the light and they do. Ash lifts up
- 14:11Speaker 1: Ag and he says, now run. They make it into
- 14:14Speaker 1: the other room and Age sits on the couch, Win saying,
- 14:17Speaker 1: and he's grabbing his shoulder because he's just been shot
- 14:19Speaker 1: in the shoulder, and Bones is like, you're you're okay.
- 14:24Speaker 1: Heg's like, yeah, it just nicked me. Ash is not
- 14:28Speaker 1: near Ag at this point, like Bones and Kong are.
- 14:30Speaker 1: He's looking at the door and he thinks there's no
- 14:33Speaker 1: doubt anymore. He looks over at Ag and he continues
- 14:37Speaker 1: and his target is. At this point, Ash's phone starts
- 14:41Speaker 1: to buzz and he gasps, oh God. Blanca is on
- 14:45Speaker 1: the phone. We hear him say hello, little kitten, you've
- 14:48Speaker 1: grown up. Ash taking the call in another room, maybe
- 14:52Speaker 1: the kitchen or our pantry, says you bastard. Blanc is like,
- 14:56Speaker 1: I haven't heard that from you in the longest time.
- 15:00Speaker 1: Seems you haven't changed much. Hold on Ashes waiting, we
- 15:04Speaker 1: hear Yue Lung on the phone. Now, Hello, Ash, Ash gasps, okay,
- 15:08Speaker 1: I mean I guess he didn't know that ue Lung
- 15:10Speaker 1: was involved anyway, yue Lung says, you've received our warning.
- 15:15Speaker 1: We've hired him, and his target is your friend, A
- 15:17Speaker 1: g Okamura. He smiles. Ash's eyes widen. Yeah. Uelung continues.
- 15:25Speaker 1: Negotiations will begin tomorrow night at nine pm. Peer eight
- 15:29Speaker 1: Warehouse twelve. By the way, Peer eight is a fishing
- 15:33Speaker 1: peer in Brooklyn, which is probably not really what they
- 15:36Speaker 1: were going for, but whatever, and Ash says, put Blanca
- 15:42Speaker 1: back on. Blanca takes over. Yes, honey, fucking be serious, Blanca.
- 15:49Speaker 1: And then he moves his ear away from the phone, smiling,
- 15:53Speaker 1: and Ash yells, you said you were tired, you goddamn liar.
- 15:57Speaker 1: What happened to your Caribbean life?
- 15:58Speaker 2: Huh?
- 15:59Speaker 1: He is breathing really hard, and Blanca's like, don't worry,
- 16:03Speaker 1: I'm enjoying my retirement. The Caribbean is great, the bright sun,
- 16:08Speaker 1: chocolate colored women. And Ash says, I hope your parts
- 16:11Speaker 1: rot and fall off, and he slams down the phone
- 16:15Speaker 1: and he exhales, I just want to point out this
- 16:19Speaker 1: because I don't know where else to put It's like
- 16:23Speaker 1: that was the weirdest phone conversation because you gotta understand
- 16:27Speaker 1: Ash is freaking out because age, you just got shot,
- 16:30Speaker 1: and Blanca is like amused. But it like no one
- 16:35Speaker 1: else sees this as like a life and death diver situation.
- 16:39Speaker 1: It's almost like Ash is throwing a tantrum right the
- 16:42Speaker 1: way that Blanca is responding by like kind of moving
- 16:46Speaker 1: the phone away from his ear and like smirking while
- 16:48Speaker 1: Ash is yelling at him. It's really distressing because, yeah,
- 16:53Speaker 1: it makes it kind of look like, I don't know,
- 16:55Speaker 1: Ash is complaining about something really stupid, like he didn't
- 16:57Speaker 1: get the color car for his birthday that he wanted
- 16:59Speaker 1: or something not, like his friend has just been shot.
- 17:02Speaker 1: So yeah, super interesting and upsetting. Continuing right along, you
- 17:11Speaker 1: go to a flashback. Now it's like a wooded area.
- 17:14Speaker 1: It actually looks nice, like the colors are like really
- 17:17Speaker 1: bright and vibrant, and we see Blanca sitting on a
- 17:21Speaker 1: bench and Ash is standing nearby, and he is younger
- 17:26Speaker 1: obviously I can tell you that he's fourteen. Here, his
- 17:29Speaker 1: hair is shorter, he's shorter in general, and he says
- 17:33Speaker 1: to Blanca, is that book any good? Blanca is reading
- 17:37Speaker 1: a book obviously, and he says that's for you to
- 17:41Speaker 1: decide yourself. And Ash says, what's it called? Blanca is
- 17:45Speaker 1: like islands in the stream. Want to read it? It
- 17:48Speaker 1: depicts the solitude of humans? Oh, very banana fish. Ash
- 17:54Speaker 1: looks away and he says, yeah, I think Cash know
- 17:59Speaker 1: something about solitude already. Blanca closes the book and says, now,
- 18:04Speaker 1: I take it back, read it when you've grown up
- 18:06Speaker 1: a bit more. We see them walking off together and
- 18:08Speaker 1: Ashes like, what's that supposed to mean? Back to now?
- 18:13Speaker 1: Or I guess. A little bit later, Ash is staring
- 18:16Speaker 1: out the window and it's raining and it's really dark,
- 18:20Speaker 1: so either just a really big rainstorm where it's night now,
- 18:23Speaker 1: and he thinks, why you why? After all this time,
- 18:27Speaker 1: I'm no match, not against him. He closes his eyes,
- 18:32Speaker 1: kind of looking a little resigned, and he thinks, what
- 18:35Speaker 1: should I do? He looks outside again. What can I do?
- 18:43Speaker 1: I don't know actually what he can do besides go
- 18:47Speaker 1: to the meeting, I guess because he can't have Ag die. Right.
- 18:52Speaker 1: We now see Ag sitting in bed and he looks
- 18:56Speaker 1: up as he hears the door open, and it's Ash,
- 18:58Speaker 1: of course, and he's closing the door behind him, and
- 19:00Speaker 1: he walks over and he says, how is it? And
- 19:03Speaker 1: AG's like, it's not bad, it's nothing. Really. Ash puts
- 19:06Speaker 1: his hand on AG's forehead and he says, got a fever.
- 19:10Speaker 1: I guess not, but you better rest. Gunshot wounds can
- 19:14Speaker 1: cause fevers. I don't actually think that's true. I tried
- 19:16Speaker 1: to look it up unless there's an actual infection. I
- 19:19Speaker 1: don't think you're gonna get a fever from a gunshot wound,
- 19:21Speaker 1: but I could be wrong. So Ash walks over to
- 19:24Speaker 1: the window and he opens the curtains and AG says
- 19:28Speaker 1: is it safe to have them open now? And Ash
- 19:30Speaker 1: just like yeah. AG looks down, seems like there's trouble again,
- 19:36Speaker 1: and Ash is like, it's nothing. I hadn't expected, fucking liar.
- 19:40Speaker 1: He opens a can of beer and he says, go
- 19:42Speaker 1: to sleep. AG pauses for a second and he says, Ash,
- 19:48Speaker 1: you should come to Japan.
- 19:50Speaker 2: Oh my god.
- 19:52Speaker 1: Ash looks over what and in the background him and
- 19:57Speaker 1: him starts to play, which I haven't mentioned before, is
- 19:59Speaker 1: like my favorite Ash AG song from the soundtrack. I'm
- 20:04Speaker 1: sorry that I knew what it was immediately. I meant
- 20:06Speaker 1: to point it out last episode during a really nice
- 20:09Speaker 1: scene but him and him spelled him and HYM, which
- 20:14Speaker 1: I wonder if it was supposed to have it n
- 20:16Speaker 1: after the m to make it like him, like a
- 20:18Speaker 1: song him, but I don't really know. But it's like
- 20:21Speaker 1: this really quiet kind of piano piece. I just I
- 20:26Speaker 1: love them, and I love them with the song playing anyway,
- 20:30Speaker 1: and this is a big deal for me, this scene.
- 20:32Speaker 1: So AG says when this is all over, come to
- 20:36Speaker 1: Japan with me. Oh my god, and that she says, me,
- 20:41Speaker 1: go to Japan. Where'd you get that idea? Me? I've
- 20:45Speaker 1: been saying it for weeks, obviously not to you guys,
- 20:48Speaker 1: because I didn't want to spoil anything. But literally, when
- 20:50Speaker 1: I was watching this for the first time, I was like,
- 20:53Speaker 1: just take him to Japan, Please get him out of here. Anyway.
- 20:56Speaker 1: So I was like fucking so excited and just crying
- 21:01Speaker 1: when Age said that. So whatever. Anyway, Ag is confused
- 21:05Speaker 1: as to why that's such a strange idea, and he says,
- 21:10Speaker 1: I want you to see my country. Besides, you wouldn't
- 21:14Speaker 1: need a gun to live. Oh, Ash looks away. I
- 21:18Speaker 1: wouldn't have anything to do in Japan. Killing is all
- 21:21Speaker 1: I know. AG's like, come on, don't say that you
- 21:25Speaker 1: could do anything. How about becoming a model? I think
- 21:28Speaker 1: they'd love you. And As just like, yeah, right, modeling's
- 21:35Speaker 1: a tough world. It's nothing like kids, porno.
- 21:37Speaker 2: Fuck.
- 21:38Speaker 1: Ash really probably that appropriate. He's trying to be nice.
- 21:42Speaker 1: AG looks away and he says, I didn't mean it
- 21:45Speaker 1: like that. I'm sorry. Ash just like, no, I'm sorry,
- 21:50Speaker 1: and he's kind of blushing slightly, and he says, I
- 21:52Speaker 1: don't know why I said that. I do. Actually he
- 21:55Speaker 1: puts the can down, which we can see now that
- 21:58Speaker 1: he's kind of crushed slightly because this is actually kind
- 22:01Speaker 1: of an upsetting conversation for him, and he starts to
- 22:04Speaker 1: walk over to AG and he says, what's Japan like
- 22:08Speaker 1: Heg's like, hmmm, well, there's lots of people in cars.
- 22:12Speaker 1: Ash sits on the bed next to AG and he's like,
- 22:15Speaker 1: why go then, it's just the same as here. AG says, well,
- 22:18Speaker 1: I mean Tokyo is my Hometown's not like that, and
- 22:21Speaker 1: Ash's like, where is it. AG says Izumo City in Shimane.
- 22:27Speaker 1: Izumo is the land of gods, and Ash says, giz Mo.
- 22:32Speaker 1: AG kind of chuckles and he's like, no, no, not
- 22:35Speaker 1: like from Gremlins. It's e zoo Mo. And Ash says
- 22:40Speaker 1: e zoo Mo. AG's like that's right. There are eight
- 22:45Speaker 1: million gods in Japan. There's even one for toilets and
- 22:48Speaker 1: one that makes you poor. And Ash's like, well, I
- 22:50Speaker 1: hope he doesn't visit me. He's smiling slightly, but his
- 22:55Speaker 1: eyes aren't really smiling, like he has this like intense
- 22:59Speaker 1: heavyess to him, which makes sense, and he continues Japan, Huh, yeah,
- 23:06Speaker 1: I'd like to go someday, and Age says, well, I'd
- 23:09Speaker 1: love to take you. I bet everyone there would be
- 23:12Speaker 1: so surprised. My little sister would probably faint and Ash
- 23:16Speaker 1: is like whatever. They both kind of like laugh for
- 23:19Speaker 1: a little bit, and then we cut to Ag asleep,
- 23:23Speaker 1: I guess a little bit later, and Ash is just
- 23:26Speaker 1: like standing and looking at him, and he thinks, I
- 23:29Speaker 1: will never forgive anyone who hurts you, no matter who
- 23:34Speaker 1: it is. He kneels down and he kind of rests
- 23:38Speaker 1: his head on the bed when like on his arms,
- 23:42Speaker 1: and he continues, I won't let anyone hurt you. We
- 23:47Speaker 1: cut to Ash holding an under the tongue thermometer and
- 23:51Speaker 1: it reads one to one point three. So I guess
- 23:54Speaker 1: AG does have a fever from the gunshot wound. So
- 23:59Speaker 1: I guess it's it's true. I mean, it's not really true,
- 24:01Speaker 1: but still, and we hear AG say, I feel so pathetic.
- 24:05Speaker 1: You don't ever get a fever when you get shot,
- 24:08Speaker 1: and Ash just like, I'm just used to it, don't worry.
- 24:11Speaker 1: Ag is in bed by the way. Ash continues, sorry
- 24:16Speaker 1: that I can't call you a doctor, and she's like,
- 24:19Speaker 1: it's fine, I'm just gonna sleep it off. Ash puts
- 24:22Speaker 1: on his jean jacket that I like so much and says,
- 24:26Speaker 1: eBay's coming over. AG's like, huh. Ash says, I thought
- 24:31Speaker 1: that since you're not feeling well, you might want to
- 24:33Speaker 1: speak Japanese to someone. I'm going out to meet Max.
- 24:38Speaker 1: He's smiling, but it's not the way you really smile.
- 24:41Speaker 1: It's the way that someone said smiles because they have
- 24:44Speaker 1: to smile so that they don't let their boyfriend know
- 24:48Speaker 1: that they're going out to a meeting that might mean
- 24:51Speaker 1: that they never come back. Yeah. AG thinks I can
- 24:55Speaker 1: tell that you're lying. AG like talking, but we like
- 25:01Speaker 1: can't really hear it over AG's thoughts, and he continues
- 25:04Speaker 1: because whenever you lie, you become terribly calm. We see
- 25:09Speaker 1: Ash opening the door. AG continues, you're hiding something important.
- 25:15Speaker 1: Ash is like saying goodbye in the background, and AG thinks,
- 25:18Speaker 1: see you later. All I can do is trust those words.
- 25:22Speaker 1: Ash closes the door. AG closes his eyes and he
- 25:26Speaker 1: you know, folds his hand like he's praying, and he continues,
- 25:30Speaker 1: please God keep him safe, Please, oh my God. AG.
- 25:38Speaker 1: I just want to pause there and say that, I mean,
- 25:41Speaker 1: we've seen this multiple times, but AG is like so
- 25:44Speaker 1: on with emotional IQ and with Ash, he's just so
- 25:49Speaker 1: spot on about the way that he's acting. And I
- 25:52Speaker 1: also wanted to really quickly talk about the whole thing
- 25:56Speaker 1: with Ash's weird comments about kitty porn a couple of
- 26:00Speaker 1: minutes ago. A. I don't think he likes being objectified, obviously.
- 26:05Speaker 1: I think that being told that he is attractive makes
- 26:09Speaker 1: him probably really uncomfortable and not really happy based on,
- 26:14Speaker 1: you know, everything that we've seen. And also I don't
- 26:17Speaker 1: think he wants to get his hopes up that he
- 26:19Speaker 1: could ever go to Japan, And it made more sense
- 26:22Speaker 1: to kind of push a g away and make it
- 26:24Speaker 1: sound like that's not something that he wants than to
- 26:27Speaker 1: admit that realistically, he doesn't know if that could really happen. So, yeah,
- 26:36Speaker 1: that's what I think was going on over there, So yep,
- 26:39Speaker 1: let's get right back to it. We cut to two
- 26:43Speaker 1: large metal doors sliding open. It's night, of course, and Ash,
- 26:48Speaker 1: who was on the other side of the big metal doors,
- 26:51Speaker 1: walks into an empty, blue tinted warehouse, and then spotlights
- 26:58Speaker 1: come on, directed specifically to him, and we hear guns cock.
- 27:02Speaker 1: Ash shields his face from the light and he looks
- 27:05Speaker 1: up at this catwalk that's above him and it has
- 27:08Speaker 1: like lots of dudes with guns on it, obviously, and
- 27:11Speaker 1: we hear Dino say finally, and Uelung's like, to think
- 27:16Speaker 1: you'd come so docilely, It's true that your teacher is
- 27:19Speaker 1: very skilled, but you're not even gonna put up a fight.
- 27:23Speaker 1: Ash says, he's on a completely different level. This isn't
- 27:26Speaker 1: about winning or losing. We hear Blanca say it's an
- 27:29Speaker 1: honor to hear that. Ash turns to see Blanca standing
- 27:33Speaker 1: just outside the doors, and he's like, hey, how'd you
- 27:36Speaker 1: like islands in the stream? Ash is like, enough of
- 27:40Speaker 1: this shit. You're gonna kill me, so kill me. Stuff
- 27:43Speaker 1: me whatever, just do it. Fuck, I do not want
- 27:46Speaker 1: you to be taxed dermid ue Lung raises a gun,
- 27:49Speaker 1: points it at Ash obviously and says, you're acting tough tonight.
- 27:54Speaker 1: It's so unlike you. I don't think it is unlike him,
- 27:58Speaker 1: but I guess one of the main time juey Lung
- 28:01Speaker 1: saw him was when he was crying in Dino's like
- 28:05Speaker 1: torture execution room, so maybe it is unlike him to him. Whatever.
- 28:10Speaker 1: Ash smirks, and he says, can you shoot that little girl?
- 28:16Speaker 1: Yuei Lung is smiling super politely, and he's like, I'm
- 28:21Speaker 1: not the one who's gonna do the shooting. You are.
- 28:24Speaker 1: You're gonna shoot yourself right in the head. Ash's eyes widen.
- 28:28Speaker 1: Ue Lung holds out the gun towards him and says,
- 28:32Speaker 1: if you do, I'll swear never to lay a single
- 28:35Speaker 1: finger on ag. There's a pause, and then he says, can.
- 28:40Speaker 2: You do it?
- 28:41Speaker 1: Ash just takes the gun right out of his hands
- 28:43Speaker 1: and puts it to his head and unblinking, just pulls
- 28:45Speaker 1: the trigger. Nothing happens. Uilung gasps. There's a pause as
- 28:50Speaker 1: Dino and Blanca look on mostly expressionless. Ash takes the
- 28:55Speaker 1: gun down from his head, says it's not loaded. He
- 28:58Speaker 1: reaches his hand out towards Juelung, give me a bullet,
- 29:01Speaker 1: jesus U. Alung looks so confused, but then he gets
- 29:06Speaker 1: like super pissed off, and he like bats the gun
- 29:08Speaker 1: out of Ash's hand and it crashes to the ground
- 29:11Speaker 1: and it echoes loudly throughout the warehouse. And I don't
- 29:14Speaker 1: understand because literally, you just asked him to kill himself.
- 29:16Speaker 1: Why are you so pissed off now you? Alung says,
- 29:19Speaker 1: why would you do that for someone like him? Why
- 29:21Speaker 1: is it so easy for you? Ash is like, what,
- 29:25Speaker 1: You're the one who told me to shoot myself. Uelung
- 29:28Speaker 1: kind of like flinches because he didn't expect Ash to
- 29:31Speaker 1: just try to shoot himself. I guess I think he's
- 29:35Speaker 1: the only one that didn't expect this, But he like
- 29:37Speaker 1: really didn't expect it, so this was a terrible plan
- 29:40Speaker 1: on his end. Blanca at this point puts his hand
- 29:43Speaker 1: on Youuelung's shoulder and says, give it up. He really
- 29:47Speaker 1: doesn't understand what you're saying. Uelung looks pretty upset though,
- 29:51Speaker 1: because he is stupid. Blanca continues, so, now, what are
- 29:56Speaker 1: the conditions you alung. Size says, hand over all of
- 30:00Speaker 1: the information you've gathered on banana fish and give us
- 30:03Speaker 1: Professor Dawson, Poor Professor Dawson, you have forty eight hours.
- 30:10Speaker 1: If you're late, ag Opa Mura will die. Ash is
- 30:14Speaker 1: just kind of listening quietly at this point. You will,
- 30:16Speaker 1: then continues, Oh, and once that's done, you're going back
- 30:21Speaker 1: to them. Sure, Ash's eyes widen. Same Ash, the moucheur,
- 30:27Speaker 1: who hasn't ever been called this in the translation before,
- 30:30Speaker 1: which is super annoying even though they've been saying it
- 30:32Speaker 1: the whole time. Dino cuts in and says, we're just
- 30:36Speaker 1: going back to the way things were. I'll let you
- 30:39Speaker 1: work for me as the lowest of prostitutes. You'll experience
- 30:43Speaker 1: things that no other war could ever endure.
- 30:48Speaker 2: What no.
- 30:50Speaker 1: Ash is just kind of staring at him with like
- 30:54Speaker 1: this look of disdain on his face, which, yeah, me too. U.
- 30:59Speaker 1: Alon cuts back in and accept these terms, and agy
- 31:02Speaker 1: will remain safe. He'll go back to Japan, he'll live
- 31:05Speaker 1: a peaceful life, and in time he'll forget you. You'll
- 31:12Speaker 1: lose everything, of course, the truth you sought, your brother's revenge,
- 31:17Speaker 1: your friend's trusts, and your freedom. Ash's kind of just
- 31:21Speaker 1: looking at the floor and he just says fine, UEI
- 31:24Speaker 1: Lung looks so confused now when he's like, you're fine
- 31:29Speaker 1: with that, you'll lose everything, You'll go back to that hell,
- 31:33Speaker 1: and Ash cuts him off and says, shut the fuck up.
- 31:36Speaker 1: I said I'll do you sneak. Ue Lung's face kind
- 31:40Speaker 1: of falls and he starts to walk away, and he's
- 31:42Speaker 1: just like it's a deal. Then they all start to
- 31:45Speaker 1: walk out at this point, leaving Ash just standing there
- 31:49Speaker 1: and Ash says, wait, Blanca. Blanca turns back and Ash continues,
- 31:55Speaker 1: let me punch you before you go. Blanca says, well
- 31:58Speaker 1: that makes you feel better, and Ash is like like, hell,
- 32:01Speaker 1: it will, of course not, but at least it will
- 32:03Speaker 1: be some sort of compensation. Blanc is like, I've told
- 32:07Speaker 1: you time and time again to control that temper of yours. Seriously,
- 32:12Speaker 1: is temper? Blanca looks to Dino may I. Dino's like,
- 32:18Speaker 1: go ahead, but don't damage him too much. I still
- 32:21Speaker 1: want to play with him later. What the fuck, Dino, seriously,
- 32:26Speaker 1: what the fuck? That is not appropriate? Oh my god,
- 32:31Speaker 1: poor Ash. Anyway, Blanc is like, don't worry, but I
- 32:35Speaker 1: can't just stand there and let him punch me either.
- 32:38Speaker 1: Blanca starts to take his jacket off, and Ash is
- 32:40Speaker 1: taking his jacket off too, and he walks towards Ash
- 32:44Speaker 1: and continues, well, he motions forward, come on. He's kind
- 32:49Speaker 1: of smiling at this point, and Ash just kind of sidesteps,
- 32:53Speaker 1: like he's not coming at him at all, like not
- 32:55Speaker 1: like a person who really wants to beat someone up,
- 32:57Speaker 1: like someone who is scared that he's about to get
- 32:59Speaker 1: beat up. And Blanca says, what's wrong. You can't punch
- 33:04Speaker 1: me from all the way over there, and he just
- 33:06Speaker 1: kind of like lunges at Ash and he almost like
- 33:09Speaker 1: hand chops Ash in the throat and Ash dodges and
- 33:11Speaker 1: backs off, and Blanca says, your defence isn't too bad,
- 33:16Speaker 1: and then we see that Ash's neck is actually bleeding.
- 33:18Speaker 1: So Blanca did kind of graze him, I guess, with
- 33:21Speaker 1: his fingernails and ashes like damn it, and he runs
- 33:24Speaker 1: at Blanca and kicks him, but Blanca blocks and punches
- 33:27Speaker 1: Ash in the face. Blanc is like, your punches are
- 33:31Speaker 1: too light. I told you to keep your body well trained.
- 33:34Speaker 1: Ash wipes his mouth and spits out some blood and
- 33:37Speaker 1: He's just like, shut up. I don't want to be
- 33:39Speaker 1: some musclemaniac like you. He runs and he round house
- 33:43Speaker 1: kicks at Blanca, but Blanca evades pretty effortlessly, and then
- 33:47Speaker 1: he just elbows Ash like right in the chest, which
- 33:50Speaker 1: looks like it really fucking hurts, because Ash kind of
- 33:53Speaker 1: like falls back and collapses and he's just on the ground,
- 33:57Speaker 1: like barely kind of holding himself up with his elbows,
- 34:01Speaker 1: clutching his chest and gasping. Blanca says, that's one of
- 34:05Speaker 1: the vitals I taught you about. If I'd really meant it,
- 34:08Speaker 1: your heart would have been crushed by now. Yuiy Lung
- 34:11Speaker 1: says to Dino, incredible. Ash looks like a baby next
- 34:15Speaker 1: to him, and Dino's like, that's the difference between a
- 34:18Speaker 1: professional and an amateur. He should know so much that fool.
- 34:23Speaker 1: So Ash is like not getting back up at this point,
- 34:26Speaker 1: and Blanca is like, I'd like to have a word
- 34:28Speaker 1: with him, like could you save him or something? Maybe
- 34:32Speaker 1: like they can leave and you can save him. Dino's like,
- 34:35Speaker 1: of course, well we'll give you some privacy, huh. He
- 34:39Speaker 1: starts to walk away and newey Lung doesn't move, and
- 34:42Speaker 1: then he's like you don't need to worry. He's a
- 34:45Speaker 1: first class professional. He won't let his emotions take over.
- 34:49Speaker 1: They walk out and shut the doors, leaving Blanca and
- 34:52Speaker 1: Ash alone in the warehouse. Blanca kneels next to Ash,
- 34:56Speaker 1: who is laying on his back on the floor now,
- 34:59Speaker 1: and he says, this will be the last time I
- 35:01Speaker 1: give you a word of advice. When I heard that
- 35:04Speaker 1: you turned against the mature, I was surprised. I thought
- 35:08Speaker 1: you had already gotten over your past. What it's his
- 35:11Speaker 1: fucking present, Blanca, But I understood why when I saw
- 35:14Speaker 1: that Japanese boy. You need to give it up. Though, Ash,
- 35:18Speaker 1: who was looking at him super intently during his speech,
- 35:23Speaker 1: just kind of looks away, and Blanca continues, A rabbit
- 35:26Speaker 1: and a Lynx can't ever be friends. I know you
- 35:30Speaker 1: heard what the macheur said, but he doesn't mean it.
- 35:33Speaker 1: He's the one that discovered you and tried to polish
- 35:35Speaker 1: you to be a successor. I was originally going to
- 35:39Speaker 1: decline when he asked me to train you. We get
- 35:42Speaker 1: a click flashback of fourteen year old Ash standing next
- 35:45Speaker 1: to Dino with like a super concerned look on his
- 35:48Speaker 1: face because he's Ash, and Blanca continues but when I
- 35:53Speaker 1: first met you, I felt that this world was the
- 35:55Speaker 1: only place that you could belong. So I decided to
- 35:58Speaker 1: teach you the means to survive ouch. Ash, at this
- 36:03Speaker 1: point has like propped himself up and is like leaning
- 36:05Speaker 1: against kind of sitting against the wall. Blanca continues, you
- 36:09Speaker 1: were a fine pupil, and I don't want to lose
- 36:11Speaker 1: you either, Ash. I don't want to see you ruin yourself.
- 36:15Speaker 1: Go back to the missiear you'll have wealth, power, everything.
- 36:20Speaker 1: All you have to do is give up this one thing.
- 36:24Speaker 1: And Ash is like, who are you to tell me
- 36:27Speaker 1: that everything I can get at that old man's place
- 36:30Speaker 1: is fake? And you're telling me to just play the
- 36:33Speaker 1: role I'm given to pretend I don't notice. Blanca, pretty
- 36:38Speaker 1: sadly at this point, says that's right. Ash continues, then
- 36:42Speaker 1: why'd you hide away in the Caribbean like a Harmit
- 36:45Speaker 1: isn't it because you hated the role that you were given.
- 36:48Speaker 1: Blanca doesn't say anything or even look at Ash at
- 36:51Speaker 1: this point, and Ash continues, leave me alone. He lies
- 36:54Speaker 1: back down on the floor. I'm happy now because I
- 36:58Speaker 1: know there's at least one guy, one person who cares
- 37:02Speaker 1: about me, and doesn't want anything in return. He closes
- 37:08Speaker 1: his eyes and kind of smiles like really peacefully. I continues,
- 37:13Speaker 1: I can't believe how lucky I am. It's the best
- 37:16Speaker 1: feeling in the world. Fuck. Blanca says, but it will
- 37:24Speaker 1: lead to your destruction, and Ashes like, it's better than
- 37:28Speaker 1: living a lie. Blanca says, I see, and he stands,
- 37:33Speaker 1: then have it your way, and he starts to walk away.
- 37:36Speaker 1: Ash says Blanca. Blanca stops and looks back, Ashes like,
- 37:41Speaker 1: I just have one thing to ask you. Blanca says,
- 37:45Speaker 1: what is it? Ash says he's don't kill him. Blanca's
- 37:52Speaker 1: eyes widened, like maybe he's finally understanding what's going on,
- 37:58Speaker 1: and Ash looks like he's about to cry, and he says,
- 38:02Speaker 1: I'm begging you. Sone hurt him, please. Blanca says, it
- 38:09Speaker 1: means that much to you. That's why you said you
- 38:12Speaker 1: wanted to punch me. That's not something I can do.
- 38:18Speaker 1: I've got to follow through on the role that I've
- 38:20Speaker 1: been given. He starts to walk away, but he thinks,
- 38:24Speaker 1: but no matter what happens, I'll be praying for you.
- 38:28Speaker 1: He leaves Ash alone in the dark on the floor.
- 38:35Speaker 1: It took Blanca like a really long time to figure
- 38:41Speaker 1: out that Ash was serious. I guess it's so interesting because,
- 38:45Speaker 1: in my opinion, Ash is almost never anything but serious.
- 38:49Speaker 1: So it's like these people are fucking sociopaths or something,
- 38:53Speaker 1: and they just don't see how you could care about
- 38:56Speaker 1: someone else enough that you risk your own life for
- 38:59Speaker 1: them in any sort of way. It's very odd. It
- 39:03Speaker 1: kind of honestly, I feel like Ash in this scene,
- 39:08Speaker 1: and like the phone scene that I was talking about earlier,
- 39:10Speaker 1: he's like the only person who's saying at all, and
- 39:13Speaker 1: this is like fucking totally messed up murderer. And you
- 39:19Speaker 1: have these like three well these two adults and Yue
- 39:22Speaker 1: Lung who are just like so far gone with the
- 39:27Speaker 1: way that they relate to other people that they just
- 39:29Speaker 1: can't see this. And I know that something is going
- 39:32Speaker 1: on with Blanca obviously, the way that he is acting
- 39:35Speaker 1: towards Ash. He very much does not want to see
- 39:39Speaker 1: him get hurt, obviously, but he's just willing to let
- 39:42Speaker 1: all this happen, and he knows what's happened. So it's
- 39:48Speaker 1: just so weird. Yeah, So I'm gonna continue and then
- 39:56Speaker 1: I'll talk more about this at the end. I guess
- 40:00Speaker 1: to the exterior of some sort of gated facility and
- 40:03Speaker 1: it's still night and some guard is like walking around
- 40:06Speaker 1: the perimeter with like a flashlight, and Ash jumps out
- 40:10Speaker 1: of bush and just grabs him and covers his mouth
- 40:13Speaker 1: before he can call for help. We see the guard
- 40:15Speaker 1: like drop to the ground, hopefully just knocked out and
- 40:18Speaker 1: not dead, And then we go to a flashback. Agi
- 40:21Speaker 1: is asleep and Ash is sitting on the other bed
- 40:25Speaker 1: looking at him, and then we go to the kitchen
- 40:28Speaker 1: with him, Shooniji and Alex, and Ash says, I'm sorry
- 40:32Speaker 1: for getting him hurt. He'll be safe from now on.
- 40:37Speaker 1: Shunichi's like, what do you mean, and Ash says, Alex,
- 40:41Speaker 1: I'll be gone for a while. I'm leaving the rest
- 40:44Speaker 1: up to you. Fuck Alex and Shunichi just look kind
- 40:49Speaker 1: of horrivied, And then we cut to a dark room
- 40:53Speaker 1: and we hear some sort of commotion outside of the door,
- 40:56Speaker 1: like maybe a guard being taken down, and the door
- 40:59Speaker 1: opens and there's like light that spills in from the
- 41:01Speaker 1: hallway and we see that Ash is there obviously, and
- 41:04Speaker 1: it's Alexis's room. Uh oh, he is asleep in bed.
- 41:08Speaker 1: Then we go back to the flashback, and Shunici says,
- 41:12Speaker 1: what are you gonna do? Ash, who was kind of
- 41:15Speaker 1: starting to walk away this point, stops and says eBay
- 41:18Speaker 1: Son when this is all over, will you take me
- 41:22Speaker 1: to Japan? I want to see the country he was
- 41:24Speaker 1: born in. What Yeah, just murder me. Later he walks
- 41:33Speaker 1: out and closes the door. Then we see ag running
- 41:39Speaker 1: frantically barefoot through the lobby and out onto the sidewalk,
- 41:44Speaker 1: and the ending theme starts to play, and he is
- 41:48Speaker 1: breathing hard and looking around, and it starts to rain,
- 41:52Speaker 1: and we're watching this now through the front windshield of
- 41:56Speaker 1: a car, and Bones Alex Khan and Shannichi come out
- 42:00Speaker 1: to get him, and they like lead him back inside,
- 42:03Speaker 1: and Ash is obviously watching this all happen from the car.
- 42:07Speaker 1: We go to Max and not George, which I figured
- 42:11Speaker 1: out his name, guys, because I found it in the manga.
- 42:13Speaker 1: His name is Steve. So we're gonn to Max and
- 42:15Speaker 1: Steve the other reporter that we just didn't have a
- 42:18Speaker 1: name for that I don't actually think ever gets a name.
- 42:22Speaker 1: So Max and Steve are just staring in disbelief, and
- 42:25Speaker 1: we see that Ash is standing in front of them
- 42:27Speaker 1: with a gun raised towards them. Steve lunges forward and
- 42:31Speaker 1: Max like stops him though, and Steve says, have you
- 42:33Speaker 1: lost your mind? Do you realize how much work went
- 42:36Speaker 1: into And Max is just like, shut up, he's serious.
- 42:39Speaker 1: Ash does look serious in a very terrified sort of way,
- 42:45Speaker 1: and Max says, is it Agy? Is he in danger?
- 42:51Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 42:51Speaker 1: Everybody basically just gets it at this point, except for
- 42:54Speaker 1: the antagonist to retardle. Ash just says absolutely nothing, and
- 42:58Speaker 1: Max just around and opens a drawer and Steve is like, Max,
- 43:03Speaker 1: are you serious? Max says, shut up. He's like putting
- 43:07Speaker 1: lots of papers into a Manila envelope and he slides
- 43:10Speaker 1: the envelope to Ash on the floor and he says,
- 43:13Speaker 1: go go save your friend. Ash looks hurt like by
- 43:19Speaker 1: his own actions, and he grabs the folder and he
- 43:22Speaker 1: just takes off. Now we see a peer and Ash
- 43:27Speaker 1: is standing in front of the car that he drove
- 43:30Speaker 1: there in, but I don't even know whose car that is,
- 43:32Speaker 1: and several other like black cars pull up, Yue Lung
- 43:38Speaker 1: and some like attendant dude get out and it's raining
- 43:41Speaker 1: still an Ash is actually really wet now, and the dude,
- 43:45Speaker 1: the attendant dude is like holding an umbrella over Ui Lung,
- 43:48Speaker 1: and ue Lung says, you're punctual, do you have it?
- 43:52Speaker 1: Ash kind of shows that he has the folder like
- 43:56Speaker 1: inside his jacket, and then we see that alex is
- 44:00Speaker 1: sitting in the back seat of that car, and Uelong says, good,
- 44:05Speaker 1: I knew you could do it. He looks over and
- 44:08Speaker 1: the camera pans the Dino, who is there now too,
- 44:10Speaker 1: also under an umbrella that I think is being held
- 44:12Speaker 1: by Gregory, but we don't actually see him. Uelon continues,
- 44:16Speaker 1: it's all done, monseur. Dino removes his hat for some
- 44:19Speaker 1: reason and says, wonderful work, mister yue Lung, very admirable.
- 44:25Speaker 1: Two guys take Alexis out of the car, and Ash's
- 44:29Speaker 1: hands are tied behind his back and he's let into
- 44:32Speaker 1: another car, and Blanca says, my job here is done,
- 44:36Speaker 1: and Dino's like, good work. Blanca looks over and sees
- 44:41Speaker 1: Ash in the back seat of one of the cars,
- 44:43Speaker 1: and Ash just looks so lost and blank, maybe kind
- 44:50Speaker 1: of sad, like resigned. It's just a very defeated expression,
- 44:56Speaker 1: just kind of just nothing, just he just knows what's
- 44:59Speaker 1: coming and there's nothing he can do, and then we
- 45:04Speaker 1: go to the title card islands in the Stream, and
- 45:07Speaker 1: that's the end of the episode. Fuck okay, closing thoughts. Ouch,
- 45:13Speaker 1: So if you were expecting Ash to figure this out,
- 45:20Speaker 1: like someone to stop him, No, that's not how this goes,
- 45:26Speaker 1: you know, because that's how this story is. Nobody really
- 45:32Speaker 1: saves him. He has to do that himself or not
- 45:36Speaker 1: do that himself. In this case, you know, he couldn't
- 45:40Speaker 1: even tell Ag because if he told Ag, Ag would
- 45:44Speaker 1: have stopped him, and then Ag would have probably been killed.
- 45:48Speaker 1: So this is this is the only way that Age
- 45:51Speaker 1: doesn't get killed basically. But yeah, when I was watching
- 45:56Speaker 1: the scene where we were just talking about like what
- 46:00Speaker 1: the terms of the agreement were, I had an anxiety
- 46:03Speaker 1: attack the first time, like serious anxiety attack, Like I
- 46:06Speaker 1: don't know that I've ever had like a full blown
- 46:09Speaker 1: anxiety attack while watching anime before or anything. But I
- 46:13Speaker 1: was just like, you gotta be fucking kidding me, Like
- 46:15Speaker 1: you can't put him back there, like out of all
- 46:19Speaker 1: the things, like the given over all the stuff about
- 46:23Speaker 1: banana fish and poor Alexis, who doesn't really know what's
- 46:25Speaker 1: going on anyway, Unfortunately, that's like bad enough, but to
- 46:32Speaker 1: include that he has to go back to, you know,
- 46:34Speaker 1: working for Dino as a prostitute, like losing his freedom,
- 46:41Speaker 1: which is like literally the only thing he wanted. He
- 46:43Speaker 1: never actually cared about this as revenge. I don't think
- 46:46Speaker 1: he just wanted to be free. So taking that specifically
- 46:51Speaker 1: away from him, not that he's had freedom yet, but
- 46:54Speaker 1: taking it so succinctly away is just fucking terrifying. Yeah,
- 47:01Speaker 1: I don't know, And I mean, it's got a lot
- 47:05Speaker 1: of courage to decide to just literally give up his
- 47:10Speaker 1: entire life for agi. I mean, he was gonna let
- 47:13Speaker 1: himself get shot or shoot himself, but I think it's
- 47:16Speaker 1: a little different because we already know that he's not
- 47:18Speaker 1: afraid to die really and it would be really short,
- 47:24Speaker 1: you know, gunshot, that's it. This it's getting really upsetting.
- 47:28Speaker 1: But to just give the rest of your life over
- 47:31Speaker 1: to someone who's just horrifically abused you, I don't know.
- 47:35Speaker 1: It's Yeah, it's a lot, it's a lot. I guess,
- 47:39Speaker 1: this is what I'm trying to say. And it's not
- 47:41Speaker 1: like you don't know, and I'm not saying anything that's
- 47:42Speaker 1: like super innovative or smart, but yeah, it just really
- 47:47Speaker 1: really fucked me.
- 47:47Speaker 2: Up.
- 47:48Speaker 1: So we're just in this situation now where I guess
- 47:52Speaker 1: just bad things, right, just bad things. So I'm trying
- 47:57Speaker 1: to think about the other things I wanted to say
- 47:59Speaker 1: about this episode. Yeah, so it's obvious that, like I
- 48:03Speaker 1: was saying a little bit earlier, Blanca, you know, trained Ash,
- 48:07Speaker 1: so he's gotten know, like his past and stuff, right.
- 48:12Speaker 1: I mean he said something like I thought you'd gotten
- 48:15Speaker 1: over your past, like, and it's just like, do you
- 48:18Speaker 1: have any idea how much of his past was just that?
- 48:22Speaker 1: And how nothing has really gotten any better. I mean
- 48:25Speaker 1: it's got a little better, but not good. Like he
- 48:29Speaker 1: abandoned him more or less. I mean, he was just
- 48:32Speaker 1: training him and getting paid, but he left him with
- 48:36Speaker 1: these people, Like how dare you come back and just
- 48:39Speaker 1: make it worse? You know, probably because he's not a
- 48:43Speaker 1: great person, but whatever, And I mean, there's not much
- 48:46Speaker 1: else left to say here, I don't think, except that
- 48:49Speaker 1: everyone knows that Ash and ag really like each other.
- 48:52Speaker 1: And the whole scene where Ash is just like happy
- 48:57Speaker 1: because somebody cares about me, which is like, so oh
- 49:00Speaker 1: fucking sad, Like so sad, because that's just gonna be
- 49:06Speaker 1: enough because honestly, his whole life is just really sucked.
- 49:08Speaker 1: And I think that this last year, because it's been
- 49:11Speaker 1: about a year now, I think that he's kind of
- 49:14Speaker 1: gotten to know Agy and like have somebody in his
- 49:17Speaker 1: life that like actually cares about him and like wants
- 49:20Speaker 1: to know what's going on with him and doesn't see
- 49:23Speaker 1: him as like a killer or or or just a
- 49:28Speaker 1: kid or a gang boss, but just sees him like
- 49:32Speaker 1: as a complete person. It's probably been the best time
- 49:36Speaker 1: of his life, and that's incredibly sad. So I'm really sad.
- 49:42Speaker 2: Now, I'm so stupid. I don't know if this's gonna
- 49:47Speaker 2: stay in the show or not, but like I totally
- 49:50Speaker 2: get why he just give everything up for age, And honestly,
- 49:57Speaker 2: I don't know, like if it was it Agan Blanca
- 50:02Speaker 2: was like, We're just gonna kill everybody in your gang
- 50:04Speaker 2: or something if you don't come with us. I don't
- 50:07Speaker 2: know that Ash would have had a different response, honestly,
- 50:11Speaker 2: because he's not a bad person, you know. Oh and
- 50:19Speaker 2: the idea that when I mean you a lung is
- 50:22Speaker 2: so fucked up.
- 50:24Speaker 1: I don't think you a lung has ever had a
- 50:26Speaker 1: person that they cared about. But when he was just like, oh,
- 50:30Speaker 1: you know, Ag eventually just forget about you and stuff
- 50:33Speaker 1: like that. He'd never forget about him and I don't
- 50:39Speaker 1: think he would lose his trust, you know. Okay, so
- 50:49Speaker 1: let me come out of this little So the other
- 50:53Speaker 1: thing I wanted to say is like, Okay, so we're
- 50:55Speaker 1: gona have episode nineteen coming up, which obviously is gonna
- 50:58Speaker 1: have some resolution to this. I want to say a word.
- 51:02Speaker 1: It's like musical that makes sense, Like you've got like
- 51:05Speaker 1: a unresolved like note and you need to come down
- 51:09Speaker 1: to like a I don't know, sorry, I'm forgetting just
- 51:13Speaker 1: music theory right now, like a one or a five
- 51:16Speaker 1: chord or something, so that it kind of evens out
- 51:19Speaker 1: like we're kind of on an unresolved note. It's it's
- 51:20Speaker 1: a cliffhanger, but I don't know why I'm thinking in
- 51:22Speaker 1: music terms. So we're obviously, hopefully gonna have some resolution
- 51:28Speaker 1: to this part of this arc. What do you think
- 51:32Speaker 1: it's gonna be, Cauz. When I was going into episode nineteen,
- 51:36Speaker 1: I had some theories about what was gonna happen in
- 51:39Speaker 1: the next episode that I believe are based specifically on
- 51:42Speaker 1: my understanding of show Joe. So if you haven't watched it,
- 51:46Speaker 1: yet and you actually like this, or you have watched
- 51:49Speaker 1: it yet and you had ideas, like can you just
- 51:52Speaker 1: fucking like email me what you think is gonna happen
- 51:55Speaker 1: in nineteen like, because I'm interested. If I'm just like
- 51:58Speaker 1: super smart and on it, or if it's just like
- 52:00Speaker 1: totally obvious, what's gonna happen. So now that I've said that,
- 52:04Speaker 1: I don't know. I don't know, guys. I mean, so anyway,
- 52:09Speaker 1: this has been a lot, and this combined with like
- 52:12Speaker 1: how shitty I feel today has been real interesting. So anyway,
- 52:16Speaker 1: I'm gonna go, and I hope that you don't hate
- 52:20Speaker 1: me so much for like crying during these because I
- 52:22Speaker 1: feel super stupid. But I hope that even if you do,
- 52:26Speaker 1: you have a really good whatever. And I'm gonna catch
- 52:30Speaker 1: you next week later weeps
