- 0:27Speaker 1: And joining us this morning from Larson Kini Home Services,
- 0:30Speaker 1: mister Andrew Larson Andrew, congratulations on the wedding anniversary. How
- 0:34Speaker 1: you doing this morning?
- 0:35Speaker 2: Congratulats, thank you. I appreciate that doing fantastic.
- 0:38Speaker 1: It's great to talk with you. And uh, I'm going
- 0:41Speaker 1: to ask you a really we're going to talk about
- 0:43Speaker 1: ultimate roofing solution with Larson Kini Home Services. And I'm
- 0:46Speaker 1: gonna start off by asking what sounds like a really
- 0:49Speaker 1: dumb question, but it is. It is way more in
- 0:52Speaker 1: talking with you over this, uh this past decade or so,
- 0:56Speaker 1: it is a way more involved answer, especially when you
- 0:59Speaker 1: talk to somebody who knows roofs which is what exactly
- 1:03Speaker 1: does a roof do. And I think for a lay
- 1:06Speaker 1: person we say it keeps water off of out of
- 1:09Speaker 1: our house. But to somebody that does what you do roofs,
- 1:13Speaker 1: they do a lot. And there's a lot more to
- 1:16Speaker 1: a roof than what you see, isn't there.
- 1:19Speaker 2: Most of what makes up a roof you can't see.
- 1:23Speaker 3: And that's what I love being able to come on
- 1:24Speaker 3: here and educate people about You know, what is a
- 1:28Speaker 3: saying that I always say. I always say, you can
- 1:30Speaker 3: put the best shingle in the world, most expensive shingle
- 1:34Speaker 3: in the world, coolest rubber, newest, neatest thing on your roof,
- 1:39Speaker 3: but if the stuff underneath it isn't done properly, it
- 1:43Speaker 3: will leak.
- 1:45Speaker 2: Seen it so many times someone gets a new roof,
- 1:48Speaker 2: we listen.
- 1:49Speaker 3: We lose jobs all the time because we're just too
- 1:52Speaker 3: expensive for some people. And it doesn't make me feel good,
- 1:56Speaker 3: but sometimes it gives me a little bit of knowing
- 2:01Speaker 3: that we're doing the right thing when we will lose
- 2:03Speaker 3: a job and then go get called back a year
- 2:06Speaker 3: later because they went with someone else, and they admitted
- 2:08Speaker 3: we went with somebody else much cheaper, and now our
- 2:11Speaker 3: new roof is leaking and their old roof didn't leak.
- 2:14Speaker 3: That's the crazy part, right, Like my old roof didn't leak.
- 2:17Speaker 3: It just looked like it was falling apart. So it's
- 2:19Speaker 3: time for a new roof, and we found someone much
- 2:22Speaker 3: much cheaper than you. This has actually happened multiple times
- 2:25Speaker 3: this year already, and they want us to come out
- 2:29Speaker 3: and inspect it and let them know what's wrong so
- 2:32Speaker 3: they can go after the other contractor. It's it's really,
- 2:36Speaker 3: I don't know what to say. It's an odd feeling.
- 2:39Speaker 3: It's kind of weird. It's like, oh, you want me
- 2:40Speaker 3: to help you, but which we do. Look, well, here's
- 2:43Speaker 3: what I see.
- 2:44Speaker 2: I see a lot of times roof We call them
- 2:46Speaker 2: a roofover So, yeah, my roof didn't leak before they
- 2:50Speaker 2: came and gave me a quote that was.
- 2:56Speaker 3: Half the price, and we respond with, well, if it's
- 3:00Speaker 3: half the price, has got to be half the roof.
- 3:01Speaker 2: Listen like there's something wrong. And then we get a
- 3:04Speaker 2: call back a.
- 3:04Speaker 3: Year later and it's leaking, well because they and they
- 3:09Speaker 3: didn't tear the old roof off. So now we took
- 3:11Speaker 3: the old roof that wasn't leaking, didn't take it off,
- 3:13Speaker 3: didn't do any of the critical details, any of the
- 3:15Speaker 3: flashing new ice water, new underlayment. But now what we
- 3:18Speaker 3: did was put about twenty thousand more holes in it, right,
- 3:21Speaker 3: so now it leaks. So when I talk about roofing,
- 3:25Speaker 3: I specifically want to talk about our urs, our ultimate
- 3:28Speaker 3: roofing solution. And again, this is something that it's not
- 3:32Speaker 3: something that I mean, anybody else can do it. Any
- 3:35Speaker 3: other roofing company could do it, they could use the
- 3:37Speaker 3: same stuff, they could do it.
- 3:39Speaker 2: The same way.
- 3:40Speaker 3: Most of the time they won't because they're trying to
- 3:43Speaker 3: hit a price point. Now listen, we have other roofs
- 3:46Speaker 3: that will hit price points. But our ultimate roofing solution
- 3:49Speaker 3: to me is the one and done for a very
- 3:53Speaker 3: very Listen, if you plan and stand in your house
- 3:55Speaker 3: for a very long time, or you just built a
- 3:57Speaker 3: house and you're gonna stay there till you die, this
- 3:59Speaker 3: is a one and done solution. We use the best
- 4:03Speaker 3: underlayments on the market, the best synthetic breathable underlayments on
- 4:06Speaker 3: the market.
- 4:07Speaker 2: And why is breathable important?
- 4:08Speaker 3: Well, Listen, sometimes attic ventilation is inadequate. I mean, if
- 4:13Speaker 3: we haven't worked up there, it might not be after
- 4:15Speaker 3: we're done it would be, but it might not be adequate.
- 4:17Speaker 2: You get moisture, you get condensation.
- 4:19Speaker 3: And good synthetic underlayments are waterproof, but they're breathable, you know,
- 4:24Speaker 3: kind of like I don't know what materials people, uh,
- 4:29Speaker 3: gore Tex, Yeah, stuff like that, Like, yeah, waterproof but breathable.
- 4:33Speaker 3: So we're basically like putting a gore text underlayment. Now
- 4:36Speaker 3: everybody knows you ever bought a gore Tex rainsuit. I
- 4:40Speaker 3: have because I fish a lot. The pants and the
- 4:44Speaker 3: and the code are like one thousand dollars, so it's expensive,
- 4:48Speaker 3: and the and the synthetic underlayment that's breathable is expensive
- 4:50Speaker 3: as well. We use the top of the line ice
- 4:53Speaker 3: in water. It's not granulated on it. It sticks together better,
- 4:56Speaker 3: it sticks down better, and we use more of it.
- 5:00Speaker 3: One of the biggest areas of concern always for us
- 5:02Speaker 3: is a valley. A valley is like a gutter for
- 5:05Speaker 3: your roof. Different roof planes are channeled to that valley
- 5:09Speaker 3: and they converge there. But the worst part is that
- 5:13Speaker 3: debris sits there, sticks, twigs, leaves, ice, and snow builds
- 5:19Speaker 3: up there. So back in the very beginning, when we
- 5:22Speaker 3: first started roofing. The basic way to do a valley
- 5:26Speaker 3: is to lay some ice and water down, although some
- 5:28Speaker 3: people don't even lay ice and water down, but lay
- 5:30Speaker 3: ice and water down overlap your underlayments and shingle. But
- 5:34Speaker 3: every time we went to do a roof where we
- 5:37Speaker 3: found leak spots and rotten wood was in the valley,
- 5:39Speaker 3: so I knew that wasn't sufficient. So not only do
- 5:43Speaker 3: we lay ice that we're going to lay metal. We're
- 5:46Speaker 3: going to lay a row of ice and water, and
- 5:50Speaker 3: then off that metal we're going to lay more ice
- 5:52Speaker 3: and water. We basically make a gutter for the valley
- 5:55Speaker 3: so it won't leak. We use a lot more underlayments,
- 5:58Speaker 3: we use a lot more ice and water.
- 5:59Speaker 2: Yes, it's more expensive, but.
- 6:01Speaker 3: That valley is not going to leak. I mean it
- 6:03Speaker 3: is bulletproof. Can't do it any better way. When it
- 6:07Speaker 3: comes to pipe boots, we're using upgraded pipe boots with.
- 6:12Speaker 2: With synthetic rings that aren't going to dry rod.
- 6:14Speaker 3: We're going to do always the best bridge cap, the
- 6:17Speaker 3: best ridge ventilation. So bottom line is, over the years,
- 6:22Speaker 3: with a lot of experience, we've come up with the
- 6:25Speaker 3: best way to do an asphalt roof that I believe
- 6:29Speaker 3: can possibly be done. I'd love someone to go on
- 6:32Speaker 3: our social media pages if they find a better way
- 6:34Speaker 3: to do it. I would love to know, because I'm
- 6:36Speaker 3: not the smartest person in the world. But on top
- 6:39Speaker 3: of that, it is going to get a fifty year
- 6:42Speaker 3: non pro rated labor and material warranty, So once it's up,
- 6:46Speaker 3: if there's something wrong, if that thing leaks, if those
- 6:48Speaker 3: shingles go bad, you're covered. And it's not a pro
- 6:51Speaker 3: rated warranty that goes down. You know, at year five
- 6:55Speaker 3: it is one hundred percent coverage. So if you paid
- 6:59Speaker 3: twenty five five thousand dollars for that roof today and
- 7:02Speaker 3: in twenty.
- 7:03Speaker 2: Five years your your roof goes bad, But.
- 7:07Speaker 3: In twenty five years that roof costs forty thousand dollars,
- 7:11Speaker 3: it's covered for forty thousand dollars.
- 7:13Speaker 1: That's absolutely You talk about just how amazing that is
- 7:16Speaker 1: and standing behind that the job that you guys are doing.
- 7:19Speaker 1: And we started this conversation off about talking a little
- 7:22Speaker 1: bit about that, and you know, we're all very money conscious.
- 7:25Speaker 1: You know, we've got it. You've got to watch how
- 7:27Speaker 1: you're spending. You think about the best place to put
- 7:30Speaker 1: your money. Typically your home. Your biggest investment is that,
- 7:32Speaker 1: and they always will tell you the most expensive job
- 7:35Speaker 1: is the one that you have to do twice. You know,
- 7:37Speaker 1: doing it right the first time, making that commitment upfront.
- 7:40Speaker 1: I know one of the great things too at Larsonkini
- 7:42Speaker 1: Home Services is you guys have absolutely phenomenal financing options
- 7:46Speaker 1: for folks as well if people are dealing with issues.
- 7:49Speaker 1: I know, one of the things that's also very important
- 7:51Speaker 1: to you and everybody at Larsonkini Home Services, Andrew, is
- 7:54Speaker 1: if there are people that are in a situation where
- 7:57Speaker 1: we're we're talking dire, where there is water coming another
- 8:00Speaker 1: of things, you guys really will make as much of
- 8:03Speaker 1: an effort as humanly possible to make sure that that
- 8:05Speaker 1: issue gets resolved. Find ways to get these things fixed
- 8:08Speaker 1: for folks. And that's I know, that's that's something that's
- 8:11Speaker 1: really important to you. But it really does go back
- 8:12Speaker 1: to that that original point, which is there's there's multiple
- 8:16Speaker 1: ways to do this stuff, and and for consumers, you
- 8:19Speaker 1: want to make sure you're if you're going to do
- 8:21Speaker 1: this stuff, you really want to have that conversation about
- 8:23Speaker 1: the ultimate roofing solution. You really want to learn about
- 8:26Speaker 1: that because having it done once, having that guarantee, that
- 8:29Speaker 1: non pro rated warranty as well, that literally figuratively and
- 8:33Speaker 1: literally andrew that goes a long way.
- 8:36Speaker 2: It goes a really really long ways.
- 8:38Speaker 3: And I listen, like, even at year twenty five, you
- 8:42Speaker 3: sell your house, it can transfer.
- 8:44Speaker 2: Now, you got you better be more organized than me,
- 8:47Speaker 2: better better able to transfer the warranty. But uh, it
- 8:52Speaker 2: can transfer one time.
- 8:53Speaker 3: And uh that's what we tell people, like, hey, save
- 8:56Speaker 3: this somewhere with me. I'd probably lose it the second day,
- 9:00Speaker 3: but either way, you're covered for a very long time.
- 9:03Speaker 3: It is absolute. I mean, it's absolute peace of mind.
- 9:08Speaker 3: And again, I don't know of a better way to
- 9:12Speaker 3: do it, gaf backs.
- 9:15Speaker 2: I mean the way that we do it.
- 9:17Speaker 3: In order for us to give a Golden Pledge warranty,
- 9:20Speaker 3: things have to be done a certain way and we
- 9:21Speaker 3: have to use certain materials. This Ultimate Roofing solution goes
- 9:25Speaker 3: so far above and beyond what they require. Because here's
- 9:30Speaker 3: the deal. Having a warranty is one thing, but having
- 9:34Speaker 3: to actually use that warranty is another thing. Saying you
- 9:38Speaker 3: know what, I've got this warranty and if anything goes wrong,
- 9:42Speaker 3: they'll fix it, and I'm covered.
- 9:44Speaker 2: But here's the difference.
- 9:47Speaker 3: If you have to use that warranty, that means that
- 9:50Speaker 3: you probably had a leak. That means that you probably
- 9:53Speaker 3: had water come in. And I don't want anybody. Yes
- 9:56Speaker 3: we'll come back and fix it, and yes GAF will
- 9:58Speaker 3: cover it, and it's all good, but who wants to
- 10:00Speaker 3: have to do that? So I wanted to like up
- 10:03Speaker 3: the ante and do it better than they require because
- 10:06Speaker 3: I don't want anybody to ever.
- 10:08Speaker 2: Have to use it.
- 10:09Speaker 3: And that's the type of stuff that we pride ourselves
- 10:13Speaker 3: that I pride myself on.
- 10:14Speaker 2: Again, now we have different price points. We go to.
- 10:16Speaker 3: People's houses all the time. They're like, well, I don't
- 10:18Speaker 3: have enough money for this, but what about this payment?
- 10:22Speaker 3: Because people never think about it. I mean, we've got optioned, Sean.
- 10:25Speaker 3: We have a payment option where we could do your
- 10:29Speaker 3: entire roof. It could cost fifty grand do your entire roof.
- 10:33Speaker 3: You didn't have to give us one dime, not a penny,
- 10:37Speaker 3: And after that roof is done, you don't have to
- 10:40Speaker 3: pay for it for a year.
- 10:41Speaker 2: You didn't have to pay anything for a year, and
- 10:43Speaker 2: then after.
- 10:44Speaker 3: That it actually rolls into a ten year at six
- 10:48Speaker 3: point nine to nine with no penalty at paying off early.
- 10:51Speaker 3: Like when people will say I need to go to
- 10:53Speaker 3: check with my bank. A bank canno beat that can't
- 10:57Speaker 3: do it, won't happen.
- 10:58Speaker 2: No bank has.
- 10:59Speaker 3: So we've got payments that can fit almost everybody's budget,
- 11:04Speaker 3: and that's what we try to do.
- 11:06Speaker 1: No race not to start that conversation. This morning, I
- 11:09Speaker 1: have folks and Andrew and the whole team from Larsentini
- 11:11Speaker 1: Home Services. They'd love to get to know you, love
- 11:13Speaker 1: to work with you. I got a pit a phone,
- 11:14Speaker 1: gave a call this morning six eight five three five
- 11:17Speaker 1: forty three forty three. Make those phones ring. That's six
- 11:20Speaker 1: soh eight five three five forty three forty three. Learn
