2:35
Speaker 2: Gi you director of communications for the Clay Center. How
2:37
Speaker 2: you doing.
2:38
Speaker 4: I'm doing wonderful this morning.
2:40
Speaker 2: Thank you for joining this morning. We had a little
2:42
Speaker 2: we had to schedule on Friday, little family situation you
2:45
Speaker 2: had to take care of. Hope all is well there, Oh,
2:47
Speaker 2: all is great.
2:48
Speaker 5: Everyone knows well, the who has little ones, all the
2:51
Speaker 5: bugs that are going around right now.
2:52
Speaker 4: So you know we're fighting through.
2:54
Speaker 2: Well, it doesn't necessarily have to be the little ones
2:56
Speaker 2: because this place the last couple of weeks has been
2:58
Speaker 2: like a mass unit here. You know, Luckily I have
3:01
Speaker 2: been okay because it's all the clean living I do,
3:03
Speaker 2: so any of what's going on to the Clay Center.
3:06
Speaker 2: So what do you gotta tell us.
3:07
Speaker 5: Is more so many things are going on at the
3:09
Speaker 5: Clay Center. It is just a mad house in the
3:11
Speaker 5: best way possible. Anyone who was at the Clay Center
3:14
Speaker 5: this last weekend who got to experience the joy of
3:17
Speaker 5: Disney's Frozen, the musical that the Charleston Light Opera gil
3:21
Speaker 5: put On, really got to take in the joy. And
3:24
Speaker 5: we joke that I took the marketing too far with
3:27
Speaker 5: all this wonderfully cold and snowy weather we.
3:30
Speaker 6: Have and did.
3:30
Speaker 2: Yeah, I was gonna say, did you have to go
3:31
Speaker 2: that far? I mean, they don't really need to experience
3:34
Speaker 2: it on the way there.
3:36
Speaker 5: Well, I mean I really just like to set the
3:38
Speaker 5: scene fair enough, fair but no, we got some warm
3:40
Speaker 5: and wild they're coming and we've got another weekend going
3:43
Speaker 5: into Valentine's Day weekend a Frozen, So if you haven't
3:45
Speaker 5: seen that yet, absolutely come on down We've got quite
3:49
Speaker 5: a few shows coming up over the next couple of months.
3:53
Speaker 5: We have obviously a wonderful production of The Harmonies of Hope,
3:56
Speaker 5: which is done by Recovery Point West Virginia. They've got
3:58
Speaker 5: Tommy Prime, Philip Bowen, John Ingram that's here at the
4:02
Speaker 5: end of this month.
4:03
Speaker 4: That's going to be It's always wonderful.
4:04
Speaker 5: Every year, without a doubt, going to be another fantastic production.
4:09
Speaker 4: I do have a little something to tease. Okay, I can't.
4:11
Speaker 5: Say exactly what it is, but I'll say if you
4:15
Speaker 5: are a fan of the band Chicago, maybe keep your
4:20
Speaker 5: eyes and ears open on Monday, February twenty third. There
4:23
Speaker 5: may be a special announcement. Maybe maybe, I don't know.
4:28
Speaker 2: If you're a fan of Chicago.
4:29
Speaker 4: If you're a fan of the band Chicago, yeah, well.
4:31
Speaker 2: Here's a little Chicago trivia. Because I got a head
4:33
Speaker 2: full of nothing.
4:33
Speaker 7: You know.
4:34
Speaker 2: The original name of the band was Chicago Transit Authority.
4:36
Speaker 2: I didn't know, and they got sued by the Chicago
4:38
Speaker 2: Transit Authority and had to shorten their name. That's you
4:41
Speaker 2: can you can you can use that. Feel free to again.
4:45
Speaker 2: I got a head full of nothing, Okay, So but yeah,
4:49
Speaker 2: I think it's an excited announcement and we'll be looking
4:52
Speaker 2: forward to that on the twenty third, twenty third, Is
4:54
Speaker 2: that what you said? Okay? Follow I guess you're what
4:56
Speaker 2: social media? Website media?
4:58
Speaker 5: You can join our email list on our webs site,
5:00
Speaker 5: the Claycenter dot org, or do you know, just maybe
5:04

5:06
Speaker 2: Okay, fair enough? Fair enough? All right? What day? The
5:09
Speaker 2: twenty third is on a Monday?
5:10
Speaker 8: Right?
5:10
Speaker 2: All right? So so you wanna come back and tell
5:12
Speaker 2: us that? Can you do that?
5:13
Speaker 8: All right?
5:13
Speaker 2: Well, you're booked on the twenty on the on the
5:17
Speaker 2: twenty third, uh the day violand show on five any

5:31
Speaker 2: Corp dot net helping you understand your environment because what
5:34
Speaker 2: you don't know can hurt you. How's the Clay Center
5:37
Speaker 2: done overall with this winder that we've had. I was
5:40
Speaker 2: talking to one of my coworkers earlier and I said,
5:43
Speaker 2: it seems like this winter has gone on forever. However,
5:47
Speaker 2: the meteorologist Brian Hughes will tell me that January was
5:51
Speaker 2: actually underperforming as far as snow goes. It's just what
5:55
Speaker 2: we had just stuck around forever. We're only two weeks.
5:58
Speaker 2: It was only it seems like it was forever ago
5:59
Speaker 2: when we had the ice storm follow us it. Actually
6:03
Speaker 2: it was only like a little over two weeks ago,
6:04
Speaker 2: it seems like. But how is the Clay Center done
6:07
Speaker 2: getting through all this?
6:08
Speaker 5: Well, we have a really dedicated team. We have a
6:12
Speaker 5: handful of our building management professionals who are out there
6:15
Speaker 5: every days salting the sidewalks, shoveling, making sure that people
6:19
Speaker 5: can get into.
6:20
Speaker 4: The building as easily as possible.
6:22
Speaker 5: I mean, we do everything in our power to make
6:24
Speaker 5: sure we don't close the doors because we went to
6:25
Speaker 5: Clay Center to always be an option for those especially
6:28
Speaker 5: when you know you have a week of snow days
6:30
Speaker 5: and the kids are itching to get out of the house.
6:35
Speaker 5: You know, we went to the Clay Center to always
6:36
Speaker 5: be an option for people to come inside, have something
6:39
Speaker 5: fun to do with the kids, or you know, maybe
6:41
Speaker 5: the parents just need or adults needed a reprieve from.
6:44
Speaker 4: Being the ouse.
6:45
Speaker 2: I saw one of the parents on social media posted
6:48
Speaker 2: this thing when they were going back and forth between
6:50
Speaker 2: remote learning whatever, And this is one of the days
6:52
Speaker 2: when they were going to do the remote learning thing
6:54
Speaker 2: in Kanawak County and somebody post and said, I'm sending
6:56
Speaker 2: mind to school No matter what I mean, They're going
6:59
Speaker 2: to go out to Just wait. Eventually somebody will opened
7:00
Speaker 2: the door. Now that's how CPS gets involved, wet. We
7:03
Speaker 2: don't want that to happen. But it's interesting that you
7:06
Speaker 2: bring that up because I have talked to parents who
7:09
Speaker 2: said that, while you know, schools may have been closed
7:12
Speaker 2: or whatever, if the clay center was open and they
7:14
Speaker 2: could safely get there, they brought their kids to a
7:15
Speaker 2: clay center.
7:16
Speaker 9: Oh.
7:16
Speaker 5: Absolutely, And you know it's always a safety first. You know,
7:20
Speaker 5: if you can't get out of your house, we don't
7:22
Speaker 5: want you risking your life to come. We want to
7:23
Speaker 5: see you, absolutely, but we never want you to risk
7:26
Speaker 5: your safety and the safety of your family to come
7:28
Speaker 5: down and see us. So if you're not able to
7:30
Speaker 5: make it down today or the next day, you know
7:32
Speaker 5: we will be here always.
7:33
Speaker 2: So what goes on on a regular basis at the
7:36
Speaker 2: Clay Center, Okay, because we always talk about the special
7:38
Speaker 2: shows and special events and so on and so forth.
7:41
Speaker 2: But just on an average Wednesday in April, I'll just
7:44
Speaker 2: throw it out there. When you don't have something quota,
7:46
Speaker 2: I mean, you always have something going on, but just
7:48
Speaker 2: on an average day, what can people see when they
7:50
Speaker 2: come to Clay Center.
7:50
Speaker 5: Well, I mean there's always the joy of our traveling exhibits,
7:53
Speaker 5: which another little teaser. We may or may not be
7:57
Speaker 5: working on a little construction project to bring even more
8:00
Speaker 5: traveling exhibit space, which means bigger exhibits, the ones that
8:04
Speaker 5: you know that go to COSI and things like that,
8:07
Speaker 5: you know, the big, the big ones. So that's something
8:11
Speaker 5: that we may or may not be working on right now.
8:13
Speaker 5: But we always have a traveling exhibit in our main
8:15
Speaker 5: art gallery, a traveling exhibit down our main floor. We
8:19
Speaker 5: have day to day programming. It varies day to day,
8:21
Speaker 5: so always check our website. But we do programs like
8:24
Speaker 5: Science Unleashed, which is little drop in workshops where you
8:28
Speaker 5: get to make Arctic slime or Arctic slime arctics.
8:33
Speaker 2: If nothing else, that should be the name of a band.
8:35
Speaker 2: I feel, oh, I like that Arctic slime. That's a
8:38
Speaker 2: good one trademark that Ryan.
8:40
Speaker 5: I'm feeling like a funky vibe to it. Yeah, okay,
8:42
Speaker 5: I think there's something cool there. We have our book
8:45
Speaker 5: Bud story Time, which is, you know, our education team
8:48
Speaker 5: sits down reads a book with our youngsters and it
8:51
Speaker 5: does an arts and craft project afterwards. We have Storytime
8:54
Speaker 5: Theater where our team puts on a little production in
8:58
Speaker 5: the Mytown Theater downstairs and the kids get to play
9:02
Speaker 5: along with the sound effects and the lights and so
9:05
Speaker 5: it's a really fun set of programs that you know,
9:10
Speaker 5: our education team works really hard on to make every
9:12
Speaker 5: day something fun, something interesting that you'll be able to experience.
9:16
Speaker 2: And that's what we want people to take away from this. Again,
9:18
Speaker 2: we're talking with Taylor gu who is the director of
9:20
Speaker 2: communication for the Clay Center. There's always something going on there.
9:23
Speaker 2: I know you just came off Carnival Carnival a couple
9:25
Speaker 2: of weeks ago and that was a huge, huge fund
9:27
Speaker 2: raising event there.
9:28
Speaker 4: Oh it was.
9:29
Speaker 5: Anyone who came was said it's the best carnival that
9:33
Speaker 5: they've ever been to, and those who didn't come who
9:36
Speaker 5: saw photos and videos online said, I can't believe I
9:39
Speaker 5: missed it this year. It was one of the best.
9:41
Speaker 5: I mean, we had food catered by ten ten. We
9:44
Speaker 5: had some amazing artists that were performing. I mean, if
9:47
Speaker 5: anyone that was on the main stage. I've never seen
9:50
Speaker 5: quite so many people at carnival standing up and down, dancing,
9:54
Speaker 5: singing along, banging their heads, I mean, of a variety
9:57
Speaker 5: of ages. I mean it was it was truly fun evening.
10:01
Speaker 2: Where's the best place for people to follow along? I
10:03
Speaker 2: know you're all over social media, but you want to
10:05
Speaker 2: hit up a website we want to talk about you know,
10:07
Speaker 2: get a couple of minutes leftter we want to talk
10:08
Speaker 2: about the Friends of Clay I mean, that's a big
10:11
Speaker 2: thing that you can do to support the arts. Just
10:12
Speaker 2: talk about a little bit.
10:13
Speaker 4: Absolutely always.
10:14
Speaker 5: You can go to our Facebook that's primary source of
10:17
Speaker 5: information for us. Also our website, the Claycenter dot org.
10:21
Speaker 5: Everything and anything is posted on there. But if you're
10:23
Speaker 5: wanting to take that next step and get further engaged,
10:25
Speaker 5: I highly recommend you check out Friends of Clay Center.
10:28
Speaker 4: We have a Facebook page. You can learn more about
10:30
Speaker 4: it on our website.
10:31
Speaker 5: It is a group of people who want to take
10:34
Speaker 5: a step further, who want to be more involved. They
10:37
Speaker 5: are the ones who helped organize and put together Carnival.
10:40
Speaker 5: We're working next on an event in April called Jazz
10:44
Speaker 5: and Jambalaya.
10:45
Speaker 4: It'll be April.
10:46
Speaker 2: You had me right there, you had me with Jambalaya.
10:49
Speaker 4: It's going to be out in our Sculpture Garden.
10:51
Speaker 5: We have an all female jazz group coming that's going
10:55
Speaker 5: to be doing this amazing show. It's on a Saturday
10:58
Speaker 5: night from seven to ten o'clock. I believe limited tickets
11:02
Speaker 5: for that one. So that's something you're interested in, and
11:04
Speaker 5: it's not why the same price point as Carnivals. If
11:07
Speaker 5: maybe Carnival was a little bit out of your reach,
11:10
Speaker 5: this one is going to be a good step down
11:12
Speaker 5: from that. So it's truly a wonderful experience. In our
11:16
Speaker 5: Friends of Clay members, they go above and beyond to
11:19
Speaker 5: make sure that people have access to the Clay Center
11:22
Speaker 5: and that they enjoy their timeline.
11:24
Speaker 2: Taylor, it's always a pleasure to have you on the show.
11:25
Speaker 2: So you're making a return appearance, I understand now on
11:27
Speaker 2: February the twenty third, right.
11:29
Speaker 5: Like I just kind of forced your yeah, yeah, just
11:31
Speaker 5: the way I'm.
11:31
Speaker 2: Going to be coming back February twenty third, Dave, you
11:34
Speaker 2: don't necessarily be here. I'll just take over the show,
11:36
Speaker 2: so February twenty third, you'll have a big announced before
11:38
Speaker 2: and you're gonna do it on this show, right, Absolutely,

Speaker 6: Good morning, Dave. Thanks for having me on.
14:38
Speaker 2: Thank you for being here. You uh making them through
14:40
Speaker 2: the winter.
14:40
Speaker 6: Okay, I'm trying to early this winter. I said, I
14:43
Speaker 6: don't want it to be fifty degrees in raining the
14:44
Speaker 6: whole winter, and I regret that now.
14:47
Speaker 2: That's what I was just talking to Taylor about. It
14:49
Speaker 2: seems like we've complained and complained about this winter being
14:52
Speaker 2: so harsh. But if you will remember, we had that
14:54
Speaker 2: snow in December and then it was kind of quiet
14:57
Speaker 2: for a while, it was just cold, and then we
14:59
Speaker 2: had it was it seems like it was like six
15:01
Speaker 2: months ago, but it was only two weeks ago that
15:02
Speaker 2: we had the snow and the ice. And it's just
15:05
Speaker 2: because it's been so cold. It just won't go anywhere.
15:07
Speaker 6: It's very pretty. I'll give it that. I like looking
15:10
Speaker 6: at it. But I was driving to Ohio to Ohio
15:12
Speaker 6: University to where my daughter goes to school.
15:15
Speaker 2: I just couldn't get into Marshall.
15:16
Speaker 6: Hunh, that's right.
15:17
Speaker 2: I'm kidding, and I'm kidding, but.
15:19
Speaker 6: I was driving all the way there in that snowstorm
15:22
Speaker 6: about ten thirty in the morning on I guess it
15:24
Speaker 6: was Friday, Friday, Yeah, yeah, and it was pretty it
15:26
Speaker 6: was pretty hairy.
15:27
Speaker 2: It actually got better as the day went on when
15:29
Speaker 2: I left here and I got off the midday show
15:31
Speaker 2: at three, and when I left here we had it
15:34
Speaker 2: was like I mean, on the main roads. There was
15:35
Speaker 2: no issue. It was a lot better than what it
15:37
Speaker 2: would have been at you know, at twelve o'clock, like
15:39
Speaker 2: like you experienced.
15:40
Speaker 6: Yeah, that wasn't that was a mistake.
15:42
Speaker 2: Done better there, Yeah, because thirty five it's in pretty
15:44
Speaker 2: bad shape really.
15:45
Speaker 13: Yeah.
15:45
Speaker 2: All right, all right, So this Saturday is Valentine's Day
15:50
Speaker 2: and you're going to be doing your King of Heart's weddings,
15:53
Speaker 2: but you'll do it on Friday, of course. So tell
15:56
Speaker 2: us about this for people that aren't familiar with it.
15:58
Speaker 6: Well, every year around thing around Valentine's Day, which we
16:01
Speaker 6: try to do it on the fourteenth, it just happens
16:03
Speaker 6: beyond a Saturday, and the courthouse is not open, so
16:06
Speaker 6: that would require a whole lot of extra spending we
16:08
Speaker 6: don't need to do. We are going to have it
16:09
Speaker 6: on Friday. With a little bit of a twist. It's Friday,
16:12
Speaker 6: the thirteenth, so we'll make it a lucky day instead
16:15
Speaker 6: of an unlucky day.
16:16
Speaker 2: All right, So that'll the people that decide to get
16:18
Speaker 2: all married up, that'll be their thing. And we get
16:20
Speaker 2: married on Friday the thirteenth.
16:22
Speaker 6: That's right.
16:22
Speaker 2: It was good luck or is the worst thing we
16:24
Speaker 2: ever did, that's right.
16:26
Speaker 6: Hopefully it's good luck for everybody. We've already gotten a
16:28
Speaker 6: ton of calls, and all it is is, if you
16:31
Speaker 6: decide you want to get married on February thirteenth, you
16:34
Speaker 6: just come on down to my office. You can call
16:36
Speaker 6: my assistant Mindy three five seven zero three six seven
16:39
Speaker 6: area code three or four if you want to make
16:41
Speaker 6: an appointment, but we take walk ins. All you need
16:43
Speaker 6: is a marriage license and we'll get you married up.
16:45
Speaker 2: So give for people that aren't familiar with this. And
16:49
Speaker 2: you've done it, how many years have you done this time?
16:50
Speaker 6: This is my fifth year, your fifth year.
16:52
Speaker 2: Okay, And of course it started before you though. Talk
16:54
Speaker 2: about the history behind.
16:55
Speaker 6: This, that's correct. So it was actually the brainchild of
16:58
Speaker 6: Judge Charlie King, who I was assigned to a long
17:01
Speaker 6: time ago, and he was a good mentor and a
17:04
Speaker 6: good friend, and I thought he passed away obviously in
17:07
Speaker 6: December of twenty twenty, and we all miss him very
17:10
Speaker 6: much still, so this is a good way to remember
17:12
Speaker 6: him and the ways that he was and to have
17:15
Speaker 6: a good time.
17:16
Speaker 2: Yeah, and it's become quite the tradition. How many do
17:19
Speaker 2: you remember off the top of your head, like how
17:21
Speaker 2: many you did last year or what's the average that
17:23
Speaker 2: you do?
17:24
Speaker 6: I actually don't remember.
17:25
Speaker 2: I wish I did.
17:25
Speaker 6: I thought about that while I was sitting in your
17:27
Speaker 6: green room. But we have done probably the most we've
17:29
Speaker 6: ever done, I think is fifteen couples. Okay, which is
17:32
Speaker 6: a substantially long day because everyone comes in and I
17:35
Speaker 6: let everyone who wants to bring family in. If you
17:37
Speaker 6: want to bring pictures, photography, of course, we'll have it
17:40
Speaker 6: decorated balloons by Birdie comes every year and does the decoration.
17:44
Speaker 6: She will do it again this year, so it'll be
17:46
Speaker 6: a little bit more special than just a regular courthouse wedding.
17:48
Speaker 2: Right again, we're talking with the judge of Mary Claire
17:50
Speaker 2: Akers for Dave Allen showing five eighty live brought to
17:53
Speaker 2: part by your hometown baseball team, the Charleston Dirty Birds,
17:55
Speaker 2: because of Avalentine's Day. Head on over to Dirty Birds
17:58
Speaker 2: baseball dot com. You can get yourself a dozen roses
18:01
Speaker 2: from Young Floral Company for opening day tickets, a Dirty
18:04
Speaker 2: Bird's blanket and a beanie Dirty Bird's mug, and an ornament,
18:08
Speaker 2: all hand delivered by Dusty, the mascot for the Dirty Birds.
18:12
Speaker 2: Can get all that for one hundred bucks. Now you
18:14
Speaker 2: must live within twenty miles of Charleston to have it delivered.
18:17
Speaker 2: If you need more more information, to visit dirty Birds
18:19
Speaker 2: baseball dot com. And you said you don't have to,
18:22
Speaker 2: You don't have to have an appointment, But do you
18:25
Speaker 2: recommend appointments?
18:26
Speaker 6: It is nice to have a sort of idea of
18:29
Speaker 6: how many people we're gonna have, but I don't need to.
18:32
Speaker 6: But if you want to make an appointment, if you're
18:33
Speaker 6: a person who needs an appointment, that's fine too.
18:36
Speaker 2: What's in the years that you've done this. We're going
18:38
Speaker 2: back to Judge King. What's the most unique wedding? If
18:42
Speaker 2: you had one that really kind of sticks out that
18:44
Speaker 2: you thought, well, this is interesting.
18:47
Speaker 6: There have been several, okay, but one in particular was
18:50
Speaker 6: a Brian and groom that brought their dogs, Okay, ring bears?
18:54
Speaker 2: Is that okay?
18:55
Speaker 6: In the courthouse it is if they'll let you in, okay, sure,
19:00
Speaker 6: if they still will.
19:00
Speaker 2: Come all right, sore, Okay. So here's a good piece
19:02
Speaker 2: of advice. If you are going to bring your dogs
19:04
Speaker 2: as ring bearers, then probably call ahead of time. That
19:09
Speaker 2: might be a good idea.
19:10
Speaker 6: Yes, that is smart. But otherwise they're all really nice weddings.
19:15
Speaker 6: It really is nice when people get married and they're
19:17
Speaker 6: happy and they bring their families and everyone's having a
19:19
Speaker 6: good day.
19:20
Speaker 2: See, I would have thought, and maybe this has happened
19:22
Speaker 2: over the years, you had a couple that was like,
19:24
Speaker 2: had a little age on them that came back, you know,
19:26
Speaker 2: the maybe's. And I'm not going to throw out a number.
19:29
Speaker 2: Somebody will text me and go, well, that's not old
19:32
Speaker 2: of fifty five plus, because I'm fifty five, So I'll
19:35
Speaker 2: say fifty five plus.
19:36
Speaker 6: I have had a lot of remarriages. I've had a
19:38
Speaker 6: lot of people who have gotten divorced and have reconciled
19:41
Speaker 6: and have gotten married again in that age group. Okay,
19:43
Speaker 6: I've had probably four couples that have come in on
19:47
Speaker 6: the Valentine's Day to do that.
19:49
Speaker 2: Now, is there a limit you talked about family and
19:51
Speaker 2: friends coming. Is there a limit that you say well this,
19:54
Speaker 2: you know. I mean, and I would think that there
19:56
Speaker 2: may be a limit on the number of people simply
19:58
Speaker 2: because of the schedule, you know, because you try to
20:01
Speaker 2: schedule them. I didn't, I mean, I mean not really.
20:03
Speaker 6: Okay, if you want to bring a ton of people,
20:05
Speaker 6: we'll work it out, okay.
20:07
Speaker 2: And is there any sort of delay you talked about
20:09
Speaker 2: people bringing video and bringing photographers. I mean you just
20:12
Speaker 2: kind of work with them.
20:13
Speaker 6: I kind of work with them and let them stay
20:15
Speaker 6: as long as they would like, you know, within reason.
20:18
Speaker 6: If I've got a bunch of people in the hallway waiting,
20:20
Speaker 6: people are always good to accommodate. But I let everybody
20:23
Speaker 6: take pictures before and after if they want to, Okay,
20:26
Speaker 6: for however long they.
20:27
Speaker 2: Need, all right. So just know that that if you're
20:29
Speaker 2: planning on running over on your lunch hour, do you
20:33
Speaker 2: take a break for lunch? By the way, you do not? Okay?
20:35
Speaker 2: All right, So if you're planning on coming over in
20:36
Speaker 2: your lunch hour, just know that if you are a
20:39
Speaker 2: hard I have to be back by one o'clock. You
20:41
Speaker 2: might want to be a little bit more flexible with that,
20:42
Speaker 2: depending on the people that are in front of you.
20:45
Speaker 6: Or just let me know, yeah, or make an appointment.
20:47
Speaker 2: That's a good appointment. Yeah, that's a good way. All right, Well,
20:49
Speaker 2: can I ask you a personal question? Okay? All right,
20:52
Speaker 2: let's let's talk about your wedding. Any anything you want
20:55
Speaker 2: to throw out about your wedding. I'll tell you mine
20:57
Speaker 2: if you'll tell you Okay, you go first, Okay, Well, okay.
21:00
Speaker 2: My wife and I got married in nineteen ninety two.
21:02
Speaker 2: I remember September the nineteenth, nineteen ninety two, at a
21:06
Speaker 2: family church in Logan County. Probably the simplest wedding ever.
21:11
Speaker 2: We walked down the aisle together, funny story. And there's
21:16
Speaker 2: a video floating around out there. Of course it's on VHS,
21:19
Speaker 2: much like much like my Cowboys super Bowl. It's still
21:22
Speaker 2: on VHS and I don't have anything to play it on.
21:25
Speaker 2: But we got this idea we were going to walk
21:27
Speaker 2: down the aisle together. All right. I got a little
21:32
Speaker 2: ahead of her, and so I'm actually walking ahead of
21:36
Speaker 2: her and like talking to the crowd and like high five,
21:39
Speaker 2: like you know, I'm going back to my wrestling days.
21:41
Speaker 2: I'm in a wrestling show and I'm like, hey man,
21:43
Speaker 2: how's it?
21:43
Speaker 10: You know?
21:44
Speaker 2: High five and people, you know, right, and left and
21:45
Speaker 2: I had had to stop kind of and we had
21:49
Speaker 2: told the lady who was playing the music, it was
21:54
Speaker 2: this is the church pianist, we said. She said, well,
21:57
Speaker 2: what song do you want? And I and this was
22:00
Speaker 2: the time, summer of ninety two was the big romantic
22:05
Speaker 2: song at that time was the Brian Adams song Everything
22:07
Speaker 2: I Do would Do It for You told her specifically,
22:11
Speaker 2: don't play that song because I just thought it was
22:13
Speaker 2: just a corny type song. She took it as play
22:16
Speaker 2: that song, and so we did, you know, came out
22:20
Speaker 2: to everything I Do I Do It for You, which
22:22
Speaker 2: was the one song we said please don't.
22:24
Speaker 6: Play and now it's ingrained in your memory, for it's
22:28
Speaker 6: ingrained in my memory forever.
22:29
Speaker 2: So all right, that was the story of my wedding.
22:31
Speaker 2: I just remember the weather was like picture perfect. We
22:34
Speaker 2: didn't have a honeymoon because I was working at a
22:37
Speaker 2: radio station in Ohio and the radio station actually got
22:40
Speaker 2: us a very nice hotel room at the Holiday Inn
22:46
Speaker 2: in Canaga, Ohio. So we after the dinner, we packed
22:51
Speaker 2: up drove my Ford escort to Canaga, Ohio, and that's
22:56
Speaker 2: where we spent our honeymoon. And then I think I
22:59
Speaker 2: had to work work the next day. I was working
23:01
Speaker 2: a lot of weekends back in those days, so yeah,
23:03
Speaker 2: that was mine, right, your turn now.
23:05
Speaker 6: All right. Our wedding was in two thousand and one.
23:08
Speaker 6: It was blazing hot that I do remember. It was
23:10
Speaker 6: at Edgewood Country Club. We got married there. David du Boyce,
23:14
Speaker 6: who was my childhood pastor at christ Church United Methodists,
23:17
Speaker 6: flew in from retirement and Hilton had and married us,
23:20
Speaker 6: which was very special to me and still is to
23:22
Speaker 6: this day. His son, actually, Peter the Boyce is coming
23:25
Speaker 6: to play the organ at christ Church United Methodists February
23:28
Speaker 6: twenty second. Don't miss that cheap plug. Yeah it was,
23:32
Speaker 6: But anyway, it was very, very hot. I was getting ready.
23:37
Speaker 6: I was with all my bridesmaids and my friend who
23:40
Speaker 6: was doing a reading in our wedding, Chris Larzo, came
23:42
Speaker 6: in and he said, well, everything's going to be fine.
23:46
Speaker 6: And I said, why is it not fine, Chris, And
23:48
Speaker 6: he said, well, JB's hung up somewhere, but he's coming.
23:53
Speaker 6: So it turned out that one of JB's groomsman's car
23:56
Speaker 6: broke down and JB was literally on the side of
23:58
Speaker 6: the interstate trying to fix the car before the wedding
24:01
Speaker 6: got there right in time, just under the wire, like.
24:03
Speaker 2: Little grease on his hands like that.
24:05
Speaker 6: Yeah, but you know, you know, j B, he'll stop
24:07
Speaker 6: and help it goes.
24:08
Speaker 2: It goes back to that classic country song by Shennandella
24:11
Speaker 2: Get Me Give Me to the Church on time. I
24:13
Speaker 2: guess he made it.
24:14
Speaker 10: He made it.
24:15
Speaker 6: But it was blazing.
24:16
Speaker 2: Hot, okay. And what time year was it?
24:17
Speaker 6: It was August. I'm sorry, yeah, no, no, no, it
24:20
Speaker 6: was juih here we.
24:21
Speaker 2: Go, ye, it was June thirtieth.
24:23
Speaker 6: I'm terrible.
24:24
Speaker 2: It's the guy that has a hard time with.
24:26
Speaker 6: August is when our first daughter was more and that's why.
24:27
Speaker 2: Okay, all right, you had a good excuse, yes, right,
24:30
Speaker 2: it was all right. So let's just kind of recap here.
24:32
Speaker 2: It's the King of Hearts Marathon wedding day. We want
24:35
Speaker 2: to check, and it's going to be on Friday the thirteenth.
24:38
Speaker 2: With this winter, you have to look ahead, and Brian
24:40
Speaker 2: Hughes would tell me, you know, don't look that far
24:42
Speaker 2: in advance. But on surface, it looks okay.
24:45
Speaker 1: It does.
24:45
Speaker 6: It looks like it's actually going to be clear.
24:47
Speaker 2: Yeah, as of right now. So that's the way it
24:50
Speaker 2: looks right now. Give us the phone number again, and
24:52
Speaker 2: people want to call three zero four.
24:54
Speaker 6: Three five seven zero three six seven. That is my assistant,
24:58
Speaker 6: Mindy Martin. She will set you up with an appointment.
25:00
Speaker 2: You want one, all right. And you said that you
25:01
Speaker 2: have to have you have to have the pre marriage
25:04
Speaker 2: stuff already set up. So you got to have your license,
25:06
Speaker 2: So talking, you've got to go.
25:07
Speaker 6: To the county clerk's office get your license from them.
25:10
Speaker 6: You can get it same day, no problem. I can't
25:12
Speaker 6: remember what their fee as might be. Fifteen dollars, I
25:16
Speaker 6: hope I'm right on that. I really don't know. But
25:17
Speaker 6: everything else after that is free, all right, all right?
25:20
Speaker 2: Do you stop to have a blood test in West Virginia?
25:22
Speaker 6: Do you not?
25:22
Speaker 2: Okay? Well, I thought they did away with that.
25:25
Speaker 6: It's been a long long time because I didn't have
25:26
Speaker 6: to have a blood test.
25:27
Speaker 2: Okay, way back then, Yeah, ninety two we had to
25:30
Speaker 2: have a blood test.
25:32
Speaker 1: I think we are.
25:32
Speaker 6: Coming up on our twenty fifth anniversary.
25:34
Speaker 14: All that.
25:35
Speaker 6: I just did the math in my head.
25:36
Speaker 2: Well, happy anniversary to you and the UJB Judge Mary
25:40
Speaker 2: clear Acres. Before I let you go, though, anything new
25:42
Speaker 2: in the court system, I don't mean cases or anything
25:44
Speaker 2: like that. But tell us was it guilty or absolutely
25:47
Speaker 2: well no, no, I mean anything as far as the
25:50
Speaker 2: court proceedings go with the you know, anything anything.
25:53
Speaker 6: I can't think of anything actually, right off the top
25:55
Speaker 6: of my head, I think it's all business as usual.
25:57
Speaker 6: Most of what you're seeing coming out of the courthouse
25:59
Speaker 6: is us having to cancel court and get done with early.
26:03
Speaker 2: That's the bit that's been the biggest news. And because
26:05
Speaker 2: you know, I mean, we get these announcements. You know
26:07
Speaker 2: that you guys that Kenaw County sends out that says,
26:09
Speaker 2: you know, the Judicial Annex will be closing early, or
26:12
Speaker 2: the courthouse is going to be closing, and it's just
26:15
Speaker 2: I mean, and obviously it's it's out of caution, it
26:18
Speaker 2: has to be done, but it does, you know, impact
26:21
Speaker 2: people that have business to do there and certainly the
26:23
Speaker 2: people that work there. But you know, it's it's winter.
26:25
Speaker 6: It is winter, and it's been a dangerous winter.
26:27
Speaker 2: It has been dangerous.
26:28
Speaker 6: Well, it's like our construction, I don't know if you've
26:29
Speaker 6: seen that looks like it's going it's it's moving along
26:32
Speaker 6: smoothly or thankful to the County Commission for that. We're
26:35
Speaker 6: our new you had rich Lindsay in here, I think too.
26:38
Speaker 2: Long a ya, he's a regular.
26:40
Speaker 6: Yeah, he's up there doing his thing in his new,
26:42
Speaker 6: brand new court room. I'm not jealous of it. It's
26:44
Speaker 6: all fancy.
26:44
Speaker 2: But all right, Lindsay give up the office there. And
26:49
Speaker 2: I do want to tell the folks that you may
26:52
Speaker 2: actually have more people show up this year because when
26:54
Speaker 2: they invite you back on Wednesday a Metro News Midday,
26:58
Speaker 2: which that means that you are going to be uh yeah,
27:03
Speaker 2: we got your scheduled on Wednesday at two o'clock on
27:06
Speaker 2: Metro News Midday on Wednesday, so you're going to be here.
27:09
Speaker 2: And so we're going to be taking this message state
27:10
Speaker 2: wide because you can get married anywhere. I mean, you know,
27:14
Speaker 2: I mean you don't necessarily have to be in your
27:15
Speaker 2: home county. So if somebody's listening to us in Greenbrier
27:17
Speaker 2: County and they want to come and get married, they
27:19
Speaker 2: can do it.
27:19
Speaker 6: I should have said that. We actually have already had
27:21
Speaker 6: a couple of people call and say they're coming from
27:23
Speaker 6: about an hour hour and a half.
27:24
Speaker 2: Okay, well we're about to add to that, just so
27:26
Speaker 2: you know when we have you on Wednesday. And then
27:28
Speaker 2: as your schedule allows on Friday, we'll do what we
27:31
Speaker 2: normally have done, and we'll just kind of do a
27:33
Speaker 2: little check and what time do you start again? I
27:35
Speaker 2: start at nine at nine o'clock. Okay, So if I
27:39
Speaker 2: know one year, I think what I had you on
27:41
Speaker 2: the on the air live from there, I think we
27:43
Speaker 2: were like your assistant was, if I remember correctly, your
27:46
Speaker 2: assistant was texting me or whatever and say, okay, we'll
27:48
Speaker 2: just stall a little bit. She's almost done.
27:50
Speaker 6: Well, I won't take one if I'm getting one live
27:53
Speaker 6: on the air. If I can get someone to an
27:55
Speaker 6: agree to that, I will.
27:56
Speaker 2: Yeah. If it's just keep it short, of course, but.
27:59
Speaker 6: It's a I think it's about a three minute okay.
28:02
Speaker 2: Now, can people come in? And if they come in
28:04
Speaker 2: and they say, well, i've written this, I want my
28:06
Speaker 2: own vowels and that sort of thing, because couples do
28:08
Speaker 2: that from time to time.
28:09
Speaker 6: Absolutely that that's actually less work for me. So I'm
28:12
Speaker 6: good with that as well.
28:13
Speaker 2: Okay, so it's just like a regular wedd Are you
28:15
Speaker 2: just gonna do several of them in one day?
28:17
Speaker 6: That's right? So we're hoping we get a lot of folks.
28:20
Speaker 2: All right, we'll talk to you again on Wednesday, and
28:22
Speaker 2: then we'll check in with you live at the courthouse
28:24
Speaker 2: on Friday to see how it's going.
28:25
Speaker 6: Jo'll be tired of me by the end of the.
28:28
Speaker 2: Well. Look as long as I have you on the
28:30
Speaker 2: guests on the show and I'm not in front of you,
28:32
Speaker 2: then and I'm perfect. I'll never get tired of you. Okay,
28:35
Speaker 2: all right, as long as I'm not in front of

33:30
Speaker 2: I'll met your News midday. I do want to say, though,
33:33
Speaker 2: before we get into anything else about the death of
33:36
Speaker 2: Danny Boyd. Danny died sixty nine years old last week.
33:40
Speaker 2: Of course he was a regular on the show here.
33:43
Speaker 2: And what a life that Danny led. He was an
33:48
Speaker 2: educator for well over thirty years at West Virginia State, filmmaker, author,
33:54
Speaker 2: What a great life and a simply all around good dude.
33:59
Speaker 2: And we're gonna have more reflections on Danny Boyd. Come
34:03
Speaker 2: it up later today. On Metro News Midday, Larry Gross
34:06
Speaker 2: from Mountain State just go to join us to talk
34:08
Speaker 2: about his good friend Danny Boyd. I gotta I'll tell
34:12
Speaker 2: you and I sort of talked about this a little
34:16
Speaker 2: bit on Metro News Midday on Friday when we learned
34:19
Speaker 2: about the death of Danny Boyd. One of my favorite
34:22
Speaker 2: Danny Boyd's stories. Danny did a variety of things. Is
34:26
Speaker 2: as I said, screenwriter, author, wrote kid's books, traveled. I mean,
34:32
Speaker 2: he just just a very very unique guy. Uh. But
34:35
Speaker 2: he had an interest in pro wrestling. And when I
34:39
Speaker 2: say he had an interest in pro wrestling. I don't
34:42
Speaker 2: mean he sat back like many of us did, you know,
34:45
Speaker 2: back in the day, and watched it at six oh
34:47
Speaker 2: five on Saturday night, which is where I became hooked
34:49
Speaker 2: on pro wrestling. I'm not talking about that. I'm talking
34:52
Speaker 2: about he got involved in it and had in a
34:56
Speaker 2: couple of his movies. He had Dusty Rhoads, you know,
34:58
Speaker 2: the legendary Dusty Roads in a movie of his. And
35:02
Speaker 2: so Danny got involved in pro wrestling, and mainly because
35:08
Speaker 2: he was doing some writing about it wanted to learn
35:10
Speaker 2: more about it. When I say Danny got involved, I
35:12
Speaker 2: mean he really got involved. And if you knew Danny
35:15
Speaker 2: boyd Danny was not a big guy. Okay, I mean
35:18
Speaker 2: not a big guy. I'm gonna guess five seven, five eight,
35:23
Speaker 2: maybe one hundred and fifty five hundred and sixty pounds, Okay,
35:26
Speaker 2: not a big guy at all. But he got involved
35:30
Speaker 2: in it, and he became a manager, not a wrestler,
35:33
Speaker 2: although he did as we used to stay in a
35:35
Speaker 2: wrestling business. He did take a few bumps every now
35:37
Speaker 2: and then, which means he got hit and thrown around
35:39
Speaker 2: and stuff like that, because he believed in fully throwing
35:43
Speaker 2: himself into the character, and I used to, as I've
35:50
Speaker 2: told you before, I used to ring announce a lot
35:51
Speaker 2: of wrestling events all over the country. And this particular night,
35:56
Speaker 2: we were in the thriving metropolis of Jeffrey in Boone
36:00
Speaker 2: County and we were doing a wrestling show was I
36:06
Speaker 2: was serving as ring announcer. Danny came in with some
36:09
Speaker 2: other guys, and Danny off Mike was like the most humble,
36:16
Speaker 2: you know, just easy going guy, but much like a
36:19
Speaker 2: lot of wrestlers do when they get involved in the
36:21
Speaker 2: business or managers, became a totally different person. And he
36:28
Speaker 2: got on the microphone. And this was supposed a time,
36:31
Speaker 2: I don't know the exact year, two thousand and eight,
36:35
Speaker 2: two thousand and nine, something like that. Ten maybe he
36:38
Speaker 2: gets on the microphone and again you got to remember
36:41
Speaker 2: where we are. We were in Jeffrey, in Boone County,
36:43
Speaker 2: right in the heart of coal country. The coal industry
36:46
Speaker 2: was really starting to struggle at that time. I'm gonna
36:49
Speaker 2: leave the politics out of this, but you know what
36:51
Speaker 2: was going on at that time, So the coal industry
36:53
Speaker 2: was struggling a lot more than had there layoffs and
36:55
Speaker 2: things of that nature, battles with the EPA, so on
36:58
Speaker 2: and so forth. Danny gets on on the microphone, grabs
37:01
Speaker 2: the microphone from me, which you know, spoiler alert, I
37:04
Speaker 2: knew that was coming, grabs the microphone from me, tells
37:08
Speaker 2: me to you know, sit down and shut up, and
37:10
Speaker 2: then starts trashing the coal industry, talking about you dirty,
37:16
Speaker 2: disgusting coal miners, going getting on your knees and rooting
37:21
Speaker 2: around like groundhogs. And I'm so glad that the Obama
37:26
Speaker 2: administration and the EPA is doing what they are doing
37:29
Speaker 2: to shut down this industry. None of you people desert
37:32
Speaker 2: And even even for me, as somebody who spent a
37:38
Speaker 2: great deal of time in the wrestling business and at
37:40
Speaker 2: that point had been in it for the Math Dave
37:44
Speaker 2: well over twenty years. At that point, it was a
37:47
Speaker 2: little much. Okay, We're in a small grade school gym,
37:51
Speaker 2: Jeffrey Spencer Grade School in Boone County, and I thought
37:56
Speaker 2: to myself, we are not going to get out of
37:58
Speaker 2: here alive. And you know, a lot of coal miners
38:03
Speaker 2: were there. They brought their kids, and you know, I
38:07
Speaker 2: think that they thought it, okay, this is part of
38:11
Speaker 2: the show until it's not. And literally, security, which is
38:18
Speaker 2: usually you know what you'd expect at a small wrestling
38:21
Speaker 2: show in Boone County, West Virginia, what security is. It
38:26
Speaker 2: got ugly. It got ugly really really quickly. And I
38:30
Speaker 2: had to talk to a good friend of mine who
38:34
Speaker 2: was there with his family and say, look, I need
38:37
Speaker 2: your help because we are not going to get out
38:40
Speaker 2: of here live. And we had to cover Danny up,
38:44
Speaker 2: escort him out of the building, put him in his car,
38:46
Speaker 2: and said, look, you need to leave now, and well
38:50
Speaker 2: we're only halfway through. No, no, no, Danny, you got
38:52
Speaker 2: to leave now. And he left, and so we got
39:00
Speaker 2: the crowd sort of calmed down a little bit at
39:03
Speaker 2: that point. But I just wanted to throw I just
39:07
Speaker 2: wanted to throw that out there about Danny boyd He
39:11
Speaker 2: sixty nine years old, as I said, frequent guests to
39:13
Speaker 2: the show, and every time Danny would come in, I
39:18
Speaker 2: would say, hey, do you remember Jeffrey said Jeffrey, West Virginia,
39:23
Speaker 2: where we damn near didn't make it out alive. I'm
39:25
Speaker 2: just saying, but good times. And I was going back
39:28
Speaker 2: through my text messages and the last text I got
39:31
Speaker 2: from Danny was when he was on the show promoting
39:35
Speaker 2: one of his children's books and I sent him a
39:38
Speaker 2: picture I had taken a picture of him holding his
39:40
Speaker 2: books and I texted to him. In his last text
39:43
Speaker 2: to me, he said, Dave, you're a peach. And if
39:47
Speaker 2: you knew Danny Boyd, that's a classic Danny. But You're
39:50

Speaker 2: zero four nine three five five zero zero. By the way,
43:47
Speaker 2: happy birthday to Metro news on Brad mclaheney, who is
43:50
Speaker 2: celebrating the birthday today. He'll be the first guest on
43:52
Speaker 2: talk line today. So happy birthday to Brad. Texas. I
43:56
Speaker 2: don't know why Trump at Magas are upset about the
43:58
Speaker 2: halftime show. Bad Bunny listed every every country in the
44:00
Speaker 2: Western Hemisphere at the end. Isn't that what Trump and
44:03
Speaker 2: the cult wanted? A united Western Hemisphere? Texas. My TVO
44:09
Speaker 2: had a software gledg dury at halftime. Second half was
44:12
Speaker 2: broadcast in Spanish, says the Texter. Well, let's start it
44:15
Speaker 2: with a halftime show against all this uproar about the
44:20
Speaker 2: halftime show. Okay, and we talked about this a little
44:22
Speaker 2: bit last week. I'll tell you I did not have
44:25
Speaker 2: a rooting interest in the football game either way. I
44:27
Speaker 2: was kind of pulling for Seattle because Dale Cooper is
44:30
Speaker 2: a Seahawks fan. I got another fans or other friends
44:32
Speaker 2: that are Patriots fan. I was kind of pulling for Seattle.
44:35
Speaker 2: The single most boring first half in the history of
44:39
Speaker 2: Super Bowls, in my opinion, to the point that I
44:42
Speaker 2: handed the remote to my wife. I said, take it.
44:44
Speaker 2: Just do whatever you want to do with him, and
44:46
Speaker 2: we did watch the Bad Money halftime show. Not really
44:52
Speaker 2: my thing, because number one, I like actual musicians who
44:57
Speaker 2: actually play and don't lip sync and things like that.
45:00
Speaker 2: And I understand, I've been in the business long enough.
45:02
Speaker 2: I know it's almost impossible to do that. So it
45:04
Speaker 2: had nothing to do with his particular style of music.
45:07
Speaker 2: It wasn't that. I just prefer you want to you
45:09
Speaker 2: want to entertain me, get me four guys up there
45:12
Speaker 2: or gals sitting with a guitar and no dancing, no whatever,
45:16
Speaker 2: and I'd like that. But that's just me. Okay, that's
45:18
Speaker 2: just me. I prefer actual live musicians. Okay, I watched it.
45:21
Speaker 2: It was visually appealing, I guess if you like that
45:25
Speaker 2: sort of thing. But I just you know, your social
45:30
Speaker 2: media feed. And I told my wife yesterday, I said, okay,
45:35
Speaker 2: a bit of advice, just stay off social media, you know.
45:39
Speaker 2: And I tried to adhere to the advice myself because
45:42
Speaker 2: all it's going to be, and you saw it, all
45:46
Speaker 2: it was going to be was that's the greatest halftime
45:49
Speaker 2: show ever or that's the worst halftime show ever. And
45:55
Speaker 2: if you don't like it, then you're a racist, which
45:59
Speaker 2: I think is as salute BS because you can not
46:03
Speaker 2: like something and doesn't make you erasist. Maybe you just
46:05
Speaker 2: didn't like it, you know, and it's just it's just
46:11
Speaker 2: where we are. There were people that are gonna comment,
46:13
Speaker 2: and they have online. They didn't care what bad Bunny did.
46:17
Speaker 2: They were going to comment and say it was terrible
46:22
Speaker 2: no matter what. And there were gonna be those who
46:24
Speaker 2: are gonna say it's the greatest thing ever, no matter what.
46:29
Speaker 2: So I did this morning. I watched the turning Point,
46:37
Speaker 2: the alternative, which, by the way, this is not new.
46:40
Speaker 2: There have been alternative halftime shows in the past. The
46:43
Speaker 2: show Living Color did it back in the nineties. Wwe
46:47
Speaker 2: did something one time, so there have been other alternatives.
46:51
Speaker 2: I thought, calling it the all Americans show when a newsflash,
46:56
Speaker 2: bad Bunny is from Puerto Rico, which is an America
47:00
Speaker 2: a territory, so he's American. I thought was a little childish,
47:05
Speaker 2: but okay, whatever, I watched it this morning, I recorded it.
47:08
Speaker 2: I watched it before I came to Worth this morning,
47:10
Speaker 2: and it was good. The turning point us from a
47:12
Speaker 2: musical standpoint, I thought it was good. I actually preferred
47:16
Speaker 2: it from a musical standpoint. But that's just my what
47:19
Speaker 2: I like in music. Okay, Kid Rock of course performed
47:28
Speaker 2: as kid Rock Ball with the ball his big hit
47:30
Speaker 2: which believe it or not, that's songs almost thirty years old.
47:33
Speaker 2: And then he went away and Brantley Gilbert some other
47:35
Speaker 2: people came out, and then he came back as Rob Ritchie,
47:38
Speaker 2: which is a real name, and he did a country
47:41
Speaker 2: song by Cody Johnson and he did a great job
47:47
Speaker 2: on it. Okay, you know, so what I just I don't.
47:54
Speaker 2: I just don't understand. But it's just where we are.
47:59
Speaker 2: I mean, it's just where we are.
48:00
Speaker 8: Are.
48:00
Speaker 2: I mean, son comes out today. I could post on
48:04
Speaker 2: my social media, hey it's Sonny, and somebody said, well,
48:07
Speaker 2: how can you enjoy son when Trump's in office? Or
48:10
Speaker 2: you know or vice versa, you know or you know.
48:13
Speaker 2: It's just I don't know, It's just it's getting to
48:16
Speaker 2: the point now it's just simply ridiculous. And Texas Dave
48:22
Speaker 2: worst super Bowl I've seen for years, definitely the worst
48:25
Speaker 2: halftime entertainment. Couldn't understand the word it was sung. Sad
48:28
Speaker 2: to say the least, thanks as a texture.
48:31
Speaker 17: Texas Dave. Kid Rock was a dude. Okay, I think
48:38
Speaker 17: I said that. I don't really know what that means,
48:40
Speaker 17: but he is it like saying TJ's laughing at me?
48:44
Speaker 17: Is it like saying when you say someone's a dog
48:46
Speaker 17: and it means that they're good. I mean, I don't
48:48
Speaker 17: know what that text means.
48:49
Speaker 2: Maybe they meant he was the dude or the dude,
48:51
Speaker 2: I don't know. I look and I'll say this about
48:54
Speaker 2: kid Rock. I have been a kid Rock fan since
48:56
Speaker 2: he came out. I like it. The theme to this
48:59
Speaker 2: show is a kid Rock song. So hot. Okay. I
49:02
Speaker 2: like kid Rock. Okay. I think he's a very good musician,
49:06
Speaker 2: and a lot of people will scoff at that, but
49:07
Speaker 2: I will say man plays like ten different instruments, doesn't
49:10
Speaker 2: read a note of music, and he's self taught and
49:12
Speaker 2: he started playing when he was twenty five years old.
49:14
Speaker 2: I respect that, Okay, I wish he wouldn't be as
49:18
Speaker 2: involved in the political stuff as he is. I'm my
49:20
Speaker 2: motto on all singers, regardless of the isle, has always
49:23
Speaker 2: been shut up and sing, you know, just do your thing.
49:25
Speaker 2: Or but that's just that's that's personal preference. I do
49:29
Speaker 2: think though, that the people that are losing their minds
49:33
Speaker 2: over a Spanish halftime show are people that probably for
49:40
Speaker 2: the most part, need to master the English language themselves,
49:44
Speaker 2: learn how to learn, learn the different kinds of theirs
49:48
Speaker 2: t H E R E or t H I R.
49:51
Speaker 2: Learn ideal from idea, and then then we'll talk. Okay,
49:56
Speaker 2: but I guess I'm just old TJ. I just I don't.
50:00
Speaker 2: I don't care anymore. Don't I don't care. I just
50:03
Speaker 2: I just don't.
50:04
Speaker 7: Let me tell you what was great about last night. Okay,
50:07
Speaker 7: last night was America. Last night was the market. People
50:12
Speaker 7: voted with their dollars by their remote control. They either
50:16
Speaker 7: watched something or they didn't. They watched one halftime show
50:19
Speaker 7: or the other, or if you like me, I found
50:21
Speaker 7: that Roadhouse was on and I left that.
50:24
Speaker 2: Well, the game itself wasn't entertaining, So I mean, I
50:26
Speaker 2: guess it got bed. I heard Chris on the Morning
50:28
Speaker 2: News say it got better after we went to bet
50:31
Speaker 2: not together up.
50:32
Speaker 7: And that's all that corporate America cares about. That's all
50:35
Speaker 7: they should care about. The NFL made a strategic decision
50:38
Speaker 7: last night. They thought that by having Big Bunny on
50:41
Speaker 7: they could diversify their bad Bunny Okay, sorry, but whatever
50:45
Speaker 7: his name is. They thought that they could diversify their
50:47
Speaker 7: audience and bring in a younger audience who otherwise wasn't
50:50
Speaker 7: watching the game. They made a calculated bet. The data
50:53
Speaker 7: will tell whether or not that proved to be accurate
50:57
Speaker 7: and whether or not they can profit often.
50:59
Speaker 2: But here's what we are TJ. People won't believe the
51:01
Speaker 2: data when the data don't have to the data data
51:04
Speaker 2: is hard. It's dollars. No, it's dollars. It's fake. It's fake.
51:08
Speaker 2: That's that's what we'll be saying. Whatever, Texas. Dave you
51:10
Speaker 2: like to laugh all the way to the bank with
51:11
Speaker 2: the fake dollars, then, Dave you like the lyrics of
51:13
Speaker 2: him singing about underage girls. I think that's where the
51:15
Speaker 2: kid rock hate mostly comes from. Toy I want to
51:19
Speaker 2: push back on it and say that's not where all
51:20
Speaker 2: the hate comes from. Yes, he does. He does. He
51:22
Speaker 2: has done songs about about about young girls. So I
51:26
Speaker 2: have a lot of people in the hip hop world too.
51:28
Speaker 7: You know, this is America. I'll watch what I want
51:30
Speaker 7: to watch, and I'm not a racist. If I don't
51:32
Speaker 7: watch something, I'm not a racist if I do watch something.
51:35
Speaker 7: Get off your high horse.
51:36
Speaker 2: In his story, all right, text says write no Facebook
51:39
Speaker 2: for me today, says the text. Well, I think most
51:41
Speaker 2: of it was posted last night anyway. So you guys
51:44
Speaker 2: have got the bright day that to bring me back
51:45
Speaker 2: to talk about this at ten thirty.
51:47
Speaker 7: Look, that's what everybody's talking about. So that's what we
51:50
Speaker 7: do on this show. In my show and your show,
51:52
Speaker 7: we talk about what people are talking about. And I'm
51:54
Speaker 7: not shy about sharing my opinion about it. You're not shy.
51:56
Speaker 7: So listeners can call up or text let us know
51:59
Speaker 7: what they think. We'll talk some politics in there too,
52:01
Speaker 7: And Brad Mcklehenny's going to lead you off the day.
52:03
Speaker 7: Happy birthday, Brat, Happy birthday, Brat. Were are we supposed
52:06
Speaker 7: to disclose that?
52:07
Speaker 2: I don't know. I don't either, said, cats out the bag.
52:09
Speaker 2: I did early. What people have birthdays? I mean, I'm sorry,
52:12
Speaker 2: he not me. He wasn't you know, hatch, he actually
52:15
Speaker 2: he actually what is your birthday? By the way, you
52:17
Speaker 2: don't need to know, dude. Okay, I'll I'll just go
52:19
Speaker 2: break into Ashley's office upstairs, and you know what I have.
52:22
Speaker 7: For whatever reason, no one knows it here. I don't
52:24
Speaker 7: know how I've pulled that off. But no one knows
52:26
Speaker 7: what TJ stands for either.
52:27
Speaker 2: They don't. I think it stands for Thelma June Hiberius Jones.
52:31
Speaker 2: But that's just me Zee later till then, have fun.
52:33
Speaker 2: I love somebody.
52:48
Speaker 12: I mean you see it.
52:49
Speaker 1: Sam ninty six point five. That then Charleston one oh
52:51
Speaker 1: four point five Cross Langue w VRC Media Station. We're
52:57
Speaker 1: proud to live here, to
