- 0:08Robert: December 21st, 2025. Welcome to the Women in Money podcast,
- 0:12Robert: as well as everyone smart enough to listen. Hi, everybody, Robert,
- 0:15Robert: the producer here. Now, as we get to the end
- 0:18Robert: of the year, we all need to take a little
- 0:20Robert: bit of a break. Suze and KT are working on
- 0:23Robert: a special episode for Christmas Day this coming Thursday, so
- 0:27Robert: we're giving them a respite from working today.
- 0:31Robert: Now, if you're new to the podcast, first of all,
- 0:33Robert: thank you very much for listening. Second, when KT and
- 0:36Robert: Suze take a break, we still like for you to
- 0:39Robert: have something to listen to in the feed, and the
- 0:42Robert: episode you're gonna hear highlights from is the right message
- 0:45Robert: for today. Well, actually, for any day, really. But see,
- 0:48Robert: as we all turn to being reflective and thinking about
- 0:53Robert: ways that we can all be who we're meant to be,
- 0:56Robert: this particular episode that KT conceived of,
- 1:00Robert: Is exactly what we should hear right now. Enjoy.
- 1:05KT: It's called the Six Secrets to Suze's Success.
- 1:10Suze: What?
- 1:10KT: Yeah.
- 1:12KT: It's the Six Secrets to Suze's success. So wait, let,
- 1:15KT: let me tell everybody what that is.
- 1:18KT: For years, for almost 25 years, maybe not all of these,
- 1:23KT: but most of them, I've been hearing Suze impart incredible
- 1:28KT: Suzieisms and quotes and great information, whether she's talking, being interviewed,
- 1:34KT: or just meeting someone that needs help
- 1:36Suze: Or I'm talking to myself.
- 1:37KT: Or she just talks to herself. Anyway, I've been collecting
- 1:40KT: these and, and, and one day when I have enough,
- 1:43KT: I wanna do something special with them, but right now,
- 1:46KT: I'm gonna share six of these Suzeisms. They're quotes, they're
- 1:51KT: things that she lives by and, and because she lives
- 1:54KT: by them, we all should live by them.
- 1:57KT: And I especially live by number six. So what I'm
- 2:01KT: gonna do is I wanna read what I've jotted down
- 2:04KT: of what I remember and what she pretty much says.
- 2:07Suze: You're sure you have them right?
- 2:09KT: I, they're pretty much right, but, but, yeah, they're right, because...
- 2:12Suze: If they're not, is it OK if I correct them?
- 2:14KT: Suze's gonna tell you what they mean. She's gonna explain.
- 2:17KT: I'm just gonna read the six secrets.
- 2:21Suze: Did you ask me if this is what I wanna do?
- 2:23KT: This is what we're doing. Do you wanna do it?
- 2:27Suze: Do I have a choice? Here we are.
- 2:28KT: Do you want to?
- 2:30Suze: I always wanna do what you want me to do.
- 2:32KT: No, you wanna do what everyone needs to hear and,
- 2:37KT: and from us.
- 2:37Suze: I know you know that for everybody. So if you
- 2:40Suze: feel I really love that you wanna be on the
- 2:43Suze: podcast on Sunday when Sunday school, so this is Sunday
- 2:47Suze: school we're imparting.
- 2:50Suze: We're goingto the KT church. We're going to church.
- 2:52KT: No, it's not church. It's school. It's Sunday school. We're
- 2:55KT: always in, you and I, we have a, a streamlined
- 2:59KT: direct line to God every day. We don't need church.
- 3:03Suze: Can I just tell everybody what I do say?
- 3:06Suze: Right, and people always say something to me like this, Suze, right,
- 3:10Suze: from your lips to God's ears. Know how everybody always
- 3:14Suze: says that to me, and what do I say to them?
- 3:16Suze: Oh yeah, trust me, right? He hears every word I say,
- 3:22Suze: every thought that I think, every action that I do, everybody,
- 3:26Suze: I think it's important that you do take out your
- 3:28Suze: Suze notebooks.
- 3:30Suze: And I think you should write these down because I
- 3:33Suze: can tell by the look on KT's face that these
- 3:36Suze: are serious quotes. These are life transforming.
- 3:41KT: Well, they're, they're mostly what you really believe in and
- 3:45KT: live by. OK, so here you go. Six secrets to
- 3:49KT: Suze's success. Number One.
- 3:51KT: The day you put your needs in front of others'
- 3:54KT: wants is the day you will have really started on
- 3:58KT: your road to financial freedom.
- 4:01Suze: The most important part of that saying, what I say
- 4:06Suze: to myself, everybody, is the day you put your needs,
- 4:11Suze: now listen, do you know what your needs are? Do
- 4:16Suze: you just live your life and you don't even do
- 4:18Suze: anything that you need to do?
- 4:20KT: So the first part of that saying is that you
- 4:24KT: need to know what you need. What do you need
- 4:28KT: to be happy? What do you need to be secure?
- 4:31KT: What do you need to feel powerful? You have to
- 4:34KT: know what those things are, so you are to write
- 4:37KT: down your needs. Let me just give you a very
- 4:41KT: slight example really of what it would be. Here you are,
- 4:46KT: and you're building up your emergency savings account.
- 4:50Suze: You're sending every month $100 into Alliant Credit Union because
- 4:54Suze: you want to take advantage of the ultimate opportunity savings account,
- 4:58Suze: which I know so many of you are doing and
- 5:01Suze: you want to do, but yet your kids, it was
- 5:04Suze: the holiday time, or maybe it's their birthday or whatever
- 5:07Suze: it may be, they want a new pair of sneakers,
- 5:12Suze: and it's $100.
- 5:14Suze: And that's the $100 that you need to send in
- 5:18Suze: every month to your savings account.
- 5:21Suze: You have to put your needs in front of others' wants,
- 5:25Suze: and if you do that, that's when you really are
- 5:28Suze: on the road to financial freedom. Next, KT, what else?
- 5:33KT: That's great. Number two, I love this one.
- 5:36KT: Success alone will never ever lead you to fulfillment. Fulfillment
- 5:43KT: will always lead you to success. It's one of my favorite.
- 5:48KT: Suze really lives by this, everybody.
- 5:51Suze: You know, all of you strive for success, whatever that
- 5:55Suze: may mean to all of you.
- 5:57Suze: But mostly success means you're making a lot of money.
- 6:00Suze: You have a big house to show others, you have
- 6:02Suze: a fancy car, you're wearing fancy clothes, and you're just
- 6:06Suze: successful that way.
- 6:08Suze: But yet you really hate your job. You really don't
- 6:12Suze: like what you're doing, but you're attached to the paycheck.
- 6:16Suze: You're attached to everything that you have around you, but
- 6:20Suze: yet inside you're not fulfilled.
- 6:24Suze: I'm here to tell you that you're not successful.
- 6:29Suze: If that is true and you yourself are not fulfilled,
- 6:33Suze: you are not successful. When you can do something that
- 6:38Suze: truly fulfills you, it will always lead you to success financially, spiritually, emotionally,
- 6:47Suze: on all levels. So your goal is to have inner fulfillment.
- 6:54Suze: And it will manifest with outer wealth.
- 6:57KT: Yeah, love what you do.
- 6:59Suze: You know, KT, I just want to give you a
- 7:00Suze: little example of that. Last night, it's very funny you
- 7:04Suze: picked that. I got an email from one of our relatives,
- 7:09Suze: all right, and in it he said to me, Suze,
- 7:14Suze: I know I'm making a lot of money. I know
- 7:17Suze: everything's going great that way. I just don't like my
- 7:22Suze: job anymore.
- 7:24KT: Who was that?
- 7:25Suze: I, I'll tell you after the podcast, all right, and
- 7:28Suze: he said to me, Can we talk about it because
- 7:33Suze: I'm getting sick, I'm not healthy. The financial reward doesn't
- 7:37Suze: matter anymore, and I need your advice on what should
- 7:41Suze: I do and how do I do it. So that's
- 7:45Suze: a perfect example of that saying. So your timing is
- 7:50Suze: funny on that.
- 7:52Suze: Because he also listens to the podcast every single week,
- 7:56Suze: so he knows who he is. We will talk later today, he.
- 8:03KT: I'm just thinking it's not one of my brothers.
- 8:05Suze: No, it's on my side of the family.
- 8:08KT: All right.
- 8:09KT: Yeah, because my, none of my brothers are gonna call
- 8:12KT: saying money doesn't matter anymore. All right, here you go.
- 8:16KT: So number three, this is probably Suze's personal most favorite,
- 8:21KT: and I hear her impart this over and over and
- 8:24KT: over again.
- 8:25KT: To people that really need it, but she has said
- 8:28KT: it to herself for years.
- 8:31Suze: Oh, I'm so excited to hear this one. Should I
- 8:32Suze: guess it?
- 8:32KT: Ready.. She's gonna guess it. It's her one of her,
- 8:36KT: it's her favorite animal as well. The elephant keeps walking
- 8:40KT: as the dogs keep barking.
- 8:43KT: Suze loves this, and I think it's also something that
- 8:47KT: was inspired from India. The elephant keeps walking as the
- 8:52KT: dogs keep barking. What a great saying. What does that
- 8:57KT: mean to you, Suze?
- 8:58Suze: I'm surprised you picked that one.
- 9:00KT: Is it one of your favorites?
- 9:01Suze: It is. There's two, as you know...
- 9:03Suze: But this one, this one, I really love this one,
- 9:06KT: Probably because you've said it to yourself.
- 9:08Suze: And let me tell you why, everybody, I said it
- 9:11Suze: to myself so many times.
- 9:14Suze: It's interesting in life that as you're going up the ladder,
- 9:19Suze: or getting more and more, whatever you're doing, you're expanding,
- 9:24Suze: everybody's rooting for you.
- 9:26KT: And I'll just give you a personal example of my
- 9:28KT: own life. As I started out being an author and
- 9:32KT: I started to do things and my books were out
- 9:34KT: there and I was making more money and getting out,
- 9:37KT: everybody was like, Yeah, Suze, go for it, go for it.
- 9:41KT: But once you get to the very, very top, which
- 9:45KT: I did.
- 9:46Suze: You couldn't get much higher than I got at one
- 9:49Suze: point in time.
- 9:51Suze: But once you get up there, there are people who
- 9:54Suze: are jealous, and it just for some reason in my
- 9:57Suze: case and I think others, then people like to tear
- 10:00Suze: you down because negative press sells more than positive press.
- 10:07Suze: It just does everybody and people started to write things
- 10:11Suze: about me like, oh, "Suze the Floozy," and there was
- 10:15Suze: a magazine that came out that was filled with total
- 10:19Suze: lies about me.
- 10:21Suze: Like there was an attack on me. Things would happen.
- 10:24Suze: Things just happen as you become more and more successful.
- 10:30Suze: So it's really important that you know who you are,
- 10:35Suze: what you are, and how do you keep going. So
- 10:38Suze: this saying, The elephant keeps walking as the dogs keep
- 10:43Suze: barking was my visual of I was the elephant.
- 10:49Suze: And I was just going to keep walking and going
- 10:52Suze: forward and helping people and create goodness in other people's lives,
- 10:56Suze: regardless of what all the dogs, the reporters, the articles
- 11:00Suze: were saying about me at the time.
- 11:04Suze: And eventually, the dogs just went away.
- 11:09Suze: And I kept walking and here I am to this day.
- 11:14KT: She loves that one. I like that one too. I
- 11:16KT: think it's important. And then number four.
- 11:20KT: And this is great also for all of you out
- 11:23KT: there that are listening to impart this, what Suze believes
- 11:28KT: to your kids, and, and I'll tell you why because
- 11:30KT: I love saying it. If you think you can't, you never, ever, ever,
- 11:34KT: ever will.
- 11:36Suze: Yeah.
- 11:37KT: So there you go, that's such a simple, simple thought.
- 11:40KT: If you think you can't, you never, ever, ever, ever will.
- 11:45Suze: I think what's important there to understand everybody that I
- 11:49Suze: finally got in my own life is that your words.
- 11:54Suze: Your thoughts and your actions are more powerful than you
- 11:58Suze: have any idea, especially your words. If you say you can't.
- 12:06Suze: And I, funny, KT that you did this, because if
- 12:09Suze: you remember, I don't know if it was a Suze
- 12:11Suze: School or not.
- 12:12Suze: But I did a thing on what can't means versus
- 12:17Suze: right and versus wrote can and I did this whole thing,
- 12:21Suze: but this one actually is a condensed version of and
- 12:26Suze: I'm just gonna expand on it KT because we have
- 12:28Suze: the time to be able to do so is your
- 12:33Suze: thoughts create your destiny.
- 12:37Suze: And it's so important for you to really, really get that.
- 12:41Suze: There's a saying that what you think you eventually say.
- 12:46Suze: What you say, your words become your actions. Your actions
- 12:51Suze: actually become your habits, KT, and your habits become your destiny.
- 12:58Suze: So, every single thing starts with your thoughts.
- 13:03Suze: That turn into your words, that turn into your actions. So,
- 13:08Suze: when you say you cannot do something,
- 13:12Suze: Then the truth of the matter is you won't be
- 13:14Suze: able to do it, so you all have to understand
- 13:19Suze: the power that you have within you.
- 13:22Suze: Because your words have the power to create or the
- 13:26Suze: power to destroy, and the choice is up to you.
- 13:30Suze: So if you look at your life right now.
- 13:35Suze: Look at what you have created. How did you create that?
- 13:39Suze: Look at the things that you've done in your life again.
- 13:41Suze: Write them down that you never ever thought you could do.
- 13:46Suze: How did you do that? How did you get there?
- 13:49Suze: And then look at the things that you wanted to do,
- 13:52Suze: but you never did.
- 13:55Suze: Why didn't you? Where did that start?
- 13:58KT: You know what that one makes me think of just
- 14:00KT: to diverse a little bit.
- 14:02KT: If you think you can't, you never ever ever will.
- 14:05KT: It reminds me of all the people years ago that said, Susie,
- 14:09KT: I can't get out of debt, how can I do this?
- 14:11KT: And then years later after listening to you and following simple,
- 14:17KT: simple baby steps and instructions, we get letters of not
- 14:21KT: only how they're out of debt but they became millionaires.
- 14:24KT: Amazing. We're gonna have to share that one day with everyone.
- 14:28KT: So I hope you like this, everybody, because I just
- 14:31KT: think they're great to live by.
- 14:33Suze: Do you care if I like doing this?
- 14:35KT: No, you do. I know she does. These are hers.
- 14:38KT: She lives by all of this.
- 14:40KT: These are Suze's like 10 commandments, but they're 6.
- 14:44Suze: I have like 50 out of them. How come you
- 14:46Suze: didn't do them all?
- 14:47KT: Because I just wanted six just to remember. Number five,
- 14:50KT: there's no shame or blame big enough to keep you
- 14:54KT: from being who you are meant to be. I love
- 14:58KT: that one. That one's really.
- 15:00KT: Emotional, it's personal, and it's really important that everyone understands
- 15:05KT: there's never a shame or blame big enough to keep
- 15:11KT: you from being who you are meant to be.
- 15:14Suze: I love this one, KT, and the reason, everybody, I
- 15:18Suze: love this one so much.
- 15:20Suze: Is, listen, we all do things in our lives, every
- 15:25Suze: single one of us, and we have to learn to
- 15:30Suze: rise above the things that we have done that maybe
- 15:34Suze: we have shame about or we're blaming others for or
- 15:38Suze: whatever it may be. You can't let the things that
- 15:43Suze: you feel bad about, you can't let the things that
- 15:47Suze: you're angry about.
- 15:49Suze: Keep you from being who you are meant to be.
- 15:52Suze: You did something. You say you're sorry. Somebody did something
- 15:56Suze: to you. OK. You have to let it go. What
- 16:01Suze: are the three internal obstacles to wealth? Fear, shame, and anger.
- 16:06KT: That's so true.
- 16:07Suze: So you don't have money. You're getting deeper and deeper
- 16:11Suze: into credit card debt, and yet you haven't told anybody
- 16:15Suze: about it.
- 16:17Suze: The shame of your credit card debt. Do you think
- 16:21Suze: that should keep you from being who you are meant
- 16:23Suze: to be?
- 16:25Suze: Don't be ashamed of anything in your life. If you've
- 16:28Suze: done something, tell somebody about it, which is why I
- 16:32Suze: would say to all of you, if you have credit
- 16:34Suze: card debt, tell everybody you know. And as soon as
- 16:37Suze: you start telling everybody you know you have credit card debt,
- 16:40Suze: you know what they'll say back to you? Oh, I
- 16:42Suze: do too, right? And so it's.
- 16:46Suze: If you've done things that you're ashamed of, if you
- 16:49Suze: feel ashamed, if you're blaming your past, if you're blaming
- 16:55Suze: that somebody has done something to you, you're not a
- 16:58Suze: victim to your circumstances, you're a victor, you are a
- 17:02Suze: creator of everything. So take that, turn it around, and
- 17:06Suze: create the future, create the person you really want to be.
- 17:12Suze: You can do that, but not if you dwell in
- 17:16Suze: shame and blame and where it says, you know, that
- 17:21Suze: there's no shame or blame big enough to keep you
- 17:23Suze: from being who you are meant to be, so who
- 17:26Suze: are you meant to be.
- 17:28Suze: Another exercise for yourself. So here you can go again
- 17:33Suze: and write down what's everything that you're ashamed of in
- 17:37Suze: your life? What's everything that you're blaming somebody else in
- 17:42Suze: your life for? Write down...
- 17:45Suze: Who are you meant to be in this life?
- 17:49KT: You're the world's personal finance expert that without a doubt.
- 17:54Suze: There you go, right? But who am I meant to be?
- 17:59Suze: I'm somebody who I decided a long time ago.
- 18:04Suze: What I'm meant to be and what I'm meant to
- 18:06Suze: do is I'm meant to meet the needs of the people, places,
- 18:12Suze: and times around me.
- 18:15Suze: And offer my actions to God. That is who I
- 18:20Suze: am meant to be.
- 18:22Suze: So that's how I feel about my life and the
- 18:27Suze: question becomes, who are you meant to be? Write it
- 18:31Suze: down and see what you can do. All right.
- 18:34KT: All right, number six, this is the finale. Everyone drum roll,
- 18:38KT: Suze da ta ta ta ta ta ta da da
- 18:39KT: da da.
- 18:41Suze: Are you liking this, KT? Is that what you wanted?
- 18:44Suze: was it what you envisioned? Was this podcast what you
- 18:47Suze: meant it to be?
- 18:48KT: Yeah, this is what I meant it to be. OK,
- 18:51KT: so number six, everybody, is my favorite, and it's my
- 18:55KT: favorite because Suze, after 25 years of being with me,
- 18:59KT: still says, KT, let's talk. And here's what she says.
- 19:05KT: What I, you say to me all the time, and
- 19:07KT: I'll give you a hint.
- 19:09KT: The gatekeepers.
- 19:11Suze: Oh, that's what you're where you're going.
- 19:13KT: That's what I want Susie to share with you, but
- 19:15KT: I want you to hear this in her words because
- 19:18KT: it's what I hear and it's what I need to always.... remind myself.
- 19:24Suze: We all do. I remind myself of it.
- 19:26KT: This is great, everybody. Share this with everyone you know,
- 19:29KT: especially your family.
- 19:30Suze: May every word that you say, every thought that you think,
- 19:34Suze: and every action that you take, KT and everybody pass
- 19:41Suze: through the three gatekeepers, and those gatekeepers are, is it kind?
- 19:47Suze: Is it necessary? And is it true?
- 19:52Suze: So, you're thinking something. If it doesn't pass through those
- 19:56Suze: three gatekeepers, just stop thinking it, change the thought. If
- 20:02Suze: you say something,
- 20:04Suze: Or you're about to say something before you say it
- 20:08Suze: if you're not quite sure about it, does it pass
- 20:11Suze: through the three gatekeepers? Is it kind? Is it necessary?
- 20:16Suze: Is it true? And every action that you take.
- 20:21Suze: Just think about it if you have any hesitation at all.
- 20:25Suze: Does it pass through the three gatekeepers? Is it kind?
- 20:29Suze: Is it necessary? Is it true?
- 20:32Suze: And you have to be careful here because sometimes you think.
- 20:37Suze: You want to say something it's a little bit harsh,
- 20:41Suze: it's true, it's necessary, but you get stuck on, is
- 20:44Suze: it kind? Is it kind to tell somebody the truth
- 20:49Suze: about themselves or whatever that maybe they don't want to hear,
- 20:53Suze: so you have to think about it.
- 20:55Suze: But most of the time, when you really love somebody,
- 21:00Suze: or whatever it is, and you wanna say something to
- 21:03Suze: them that they might not want to hear,
- 21:07Suze: That doesn't make it not kind.
- 21:10Suze: It makes it that they need to hear it, but
- 21:12Suze: it has to pass through all three of those gatekeepers. So, again,
- 21:18Suze: if you're gonna do anything and it doesn't pass through
- 21:21Suze: all three of those gatekeepers, just stop.
- 21:26Suze: And change it until it does just that simple KT.
- 21:30KT: It's my favorite one. Is it kind? Is it necessary?
- 21:33KT: Is it true?
- 21:34Suze: And those three gatekeepers will keep you from doing things
- 21:39Suze: that you're ashamed that you did or regret or anything.
- 21:44Suze: And all of the things that we talked about really
- 21:47Suze: relate to those gatekeepers.
- 21:51KT: So there you have it, everyone. I call it the
- 21:53KT: Six Secrets to Suze's success, but it's really credos, inspirations,
- 21:58KT: words that she's lived by...
- 22:00KT: And taught and imparted not only for me but for
- 22:04KT: all of you listening to everyone that's read, followed, or
- 22:07KT: listened to her or watched her on television, but most
- 22:11KT: important for herself. Suze loves these and uses them in
- 22:16KT: her life to guide herself. She inspires herself with her
- 22:20KT: own inspiration.
- 22:21Suze: You know. And again, I'm just gonna go back to
- 22:24Suze: this for a second, everybody, is that.
- 22:27Suze: You never stop learning. You never stop growing. You also
- 22:32Suze: never stop having doubts, believe it or not. Can I
- 22:36Suze: do this? Should I do this? Is this the right thing? Oh,
- 22:41Suze: so and so tells me, don't do this, Suze. So it's,
- 22:44Suze: what do I need to do versus what other people
- 22:47Suze: want me to do.
- 22:49Suze: What do I tell myself? What is it that I want?
- 22:53Suze: So all these things that KT just chose today to do,
- 22:58Suze: I kind of like that you did this, KT.
- 23:02Suze: No matter where you are in life, on your spectrum
- 23:05Suze: of life, young, not so young, old, and really old,
- 23:11Suze: these are all sayings, secrets, let them be your own
- 23:16Suze: little inner secret.
- 23:18Suze: That helps you be who you really want to be
- 23:22Suze: and who you are meant to be. So, Miss Travis,
- 23:26Suze: since this was your podcast today, you take us out.
- 23:30KT: There's only 3 things we want you to remember, everybody,
- 23:34KT: and that is people first, then money, then things.
