Robert Hunter is a star example of the kind of candidate we love—a person who is a known entity locally for the organizing and activism they participate in long before they run for office. ALHD-28 has a high concentration of Democrats but no local Democratic Infrastructure. It is not an anomaly, unfortunately as these places exist all around the country across the south to places like Ohio. Republican candidates often run unopposed and voter turnout is super low.
