- 0:00Speaker 1: Now nine till noon weekdays. Mark Simone. More Mark. On 710WOR. Hey,
- 0:08Speaker 1: it's Friday. It's a beautiful Friday. Really nice out. It's
- 0:11Speaker 1: going to be like that for the next two days
- 0:13Speaker 1: and then some rain on Sunday. We'll get to Mayor
- 0:16Speaker 1: Mamdani and the Department of Homeland Security responding to him.
- 0:21Speaker 1: It's interesting what happened last night in those phone calls.
- 0:25Speaker 1: We'll get to that. We'll get to Bruce Blakeman. He's
- 0:28Speaker 1: going to be... campaigning upstate New York. President Trump will
- 0:32Speaker 1: be there. President Trump and Vice President Vance will be
- 0:36Speaker 1: all over the place. Vance going to Ohio. President Trump
- 0:39Speaker 1: going to Syracuse today. Tennessee and Alabama tomorrow. Virginia on Sunday.
- 0:46Speaker 1: Nonstop campaigning till the end. It's 25 days till the midterms.
- 0:52Speaker 1: Bruce Blakeman has a debate coming up this week. Nobody
- 0:54Speaker 1: will see it because it's on New York 1. And
- 0:57Speaker 1: the moderators, New York won, very left-wing, very biased. So
- 1:01Speaker 1: that'll work against him. But he's good at that. He's
- 1:04Speaker 1: really good when he's cornered. He's much, much smarter, sharper,
- 1:10Speaker 1: more articulate than Kathy Hochul. So this should be interesting.
- 1:14Speaker 1: So the shooting last night caused a lot of protesting
- 1:19Speaker 1: last night, caused Mom Donnie to go into a rage. Now,
- 1:22Speaker 1: some of that was grandstandings. Same thing with Letitia James,
- 1:26Speaker 1: who's up for reelection and had a bad debate earlier
- 1:30Speaker 1: in the evening last night. But, you know, she's yelling
- 1:34Speaker 1: and screaming and well, not yelling. She's talking in that
- 1:37Speaker 1: very serious voice of hers. Mom Donnie yelling and screaming,
- 1:40Speaker 1: looking livid. But again, a lot of this is grandstanding
- 1:43Speaker 1: for the camera.
- 1:44Speaker 2: The individual who was shot. has been identified as 28-year-old
- 1:48Speaker 2: Oscar Belgal. He has two prior arrests in New York City,
- 1:52Speaker 2: one for robbery in 2023, in which he pleaded guilty
- 1:56Speaker 2: to fourth-degree grand larceny and received five years probation, and
- 2:01Speaker 2: one for criminal sale of a controlled substance in 2025,
- 2:05Speaker 2: which is still pending.
- 2:06Speaker 1: Actually, that's Police Commissioner Tish. You know, this is the problem.
- 2:10Speaker 1: He's a career criminal, gang-associated, And he shouldn't have been
- 2:16Speaker 1: out in the street. You know, crazy New York judge's probation.
- 2:20Speaker 1: Even though he pled guilty, he gets probation for robbery.
- 2:23Speaker 1: But apparently, DHS revealing that they don't want ICE agents
- 2:29Speaker 1: to go out in the street and have to do this,
- 2:31Speaker 1: that there are 15,000 illegals in New York, many of
- 2:37Speaker 1: them in custody, who are criminals, who have committed crimes.
- 2:41Speaker 1: They want to have them just turned over to ICE.
- 2:43Speaker 1: They don't want to have to go into the streets
- 2:45Speaker 1: and try to find them and arrest them in the street.
- 2:48Speaker 1: And DHS revealing that the Mamdani administration has absolutely refused
- 2:52Speaker 1: to cooperate in any way or turn them over. Now,
- 2:57Speaker 1: Mamdani said he was on the phone for two hours
- 2:59Speaker 1: last night with Trump.
- 3:00Speaker 3: For the past two hours, I have been on the
- 3:03Speaker 3: phone with President Trump and Secretary Mullen negotiating the release
- 3:09Speaker 3: of the man ICE agents shot. those negotiations were unsuccessful.
- 3:15Speaker 3: Just moments ago, ICE put the man in an unmarked
- 3:18Speaker 3: vehicle and whisked him away.
- 3:20Speaker 1: Okay, now, Mamdani is not giving you the whole story there.
- 3:23Speaker 1: That's the statement you keep hearing. He tried to get
- 3:26Speaker 1: the guy out of ICE custody. He was unsuccessful. Well,
- 3:31Speaker 1: apparently now, and when he says he was on the
- 3:33Speaker 1: phone with President Trump for two hours, he was on
- 3:36Speaker 1: the phone with Department of Homeland Security for two hours.
- 3:39Speaker 1: He was on the phone with Secretary Mullins for two hours.
- 3:42Speaker 1: The president was five minutes of the two hours. And
- 3:45Speaker 1: here's apparently the real story. This is what really happened.
- 3:48Speaker 1: Mamdani wanted ICE to give up this guy, release him.
- 3:53Speaker 1: The administration agreed to release him if the NYPD would
- 3:59Speaker 1: take him into custody. Remember, this guy's a criminal. He's
- 4:02Speaker 1: a career criminal. Shouldn't have been on the street anyway.
- 4:04Speaker 1: He's an illegal here illegally. And according to the ICE agents,
- 4:08Speaker 1: we're waiting for the body cam footage to absolutely confirm it,
- 4:11Speaker 1: but according to ICE agents, he tried to kill them.
- 4:13Speaker 1: He tried to run them over, ram them with his car.
- 4:17Speaker 1: So that's a guy who has to be arrested, locked up,
- 4:20Speaker 1: and really should be deported. But that was the sticking point.
- 4:25Speaker 1: They agreed to release him to the NYPD if the
- 4:30Speaker 1: NYPD held him into custody. Now, here's the key to
- 4:34Speaker 1: all this. This is the big takeaway. The problem was
- 4:37Speaker 1: Mamdani said no. Mamdani refused. Mamdani said he wanted him
- 4:43Speaker 1: released back into the streets. That's what Mamdani was fighting for.
- 4:49Speaker 1: And ICE said they can't let this guy back into
- 4:51Speaker 1: the streets. He's a career criminal. He's dangerous. He just
- 4:55Speaker 1: tried to run over cops. He's got a criminal rap sheet.
- 4:59Speaker 1: He's gang affiliated. No, they were not going to release
- 5:02Speaker 1: him back in the streets. But that's what Mamdani was
- 5:04Speaker 1: fighting for. to have this guy released into the streets. Now, Mamdani,
- 5:09Speaker 1: of course, grandstanding for the cameras. His anger looked real
- 5:12Speaker 1: because I think this is what really eats away at it.
- 5:16Speaker 1: This gets him right in the heart. He's like what
- 5:19Speaker 1: they used to call a bleeding heart liberal. He loves
- 5:21Speaker 1: these criminals. He loves these illegals. He loves these guys, criminals.
- 5:26Speaker 1: It's like this Alvin Bragg. Don't put him in jail.
- 5:29Speaker 1: Release him. And this is the hatred he has for ICE.
- 5:32Speaker 1: They're coming into New York and taking... are criminals away
- 5:36Speaker 1: from us.
- 5:37Speaker 3: New York City will not stand by while ICE agents
- 5:40Speaker 3: shoot New Yorkers, and we will not back down from
- 5:43Speaker 3: the demand that so many, including myself, have put forward
- 5:47Speaker 3: time and again. This is an agency that must be abolished.
- 5:52Speaker 1: Now, there's nothing you can do about this. You could have,
- 5:55Speaker 1: Mamdani could sit right there, and for hours we could
- 5:58Speaker 1: try to explain to him they're not shooting New Yorkers.
- 6:01Speaker 1: They're going after criminals, actual criminals, gang affiliated with criminal
- 6:06Speaker 1: records that are here illegally. They violated all kinds of
- 6:11Speaker 1: laws just being here. And since they got here, they're
- 6:13Speaker 1: violating more of our laws. You could explain this. You
- 6:17Speaker 1: could have a million people try to talk. There's nothing
- 6:19Speaker 1: you can do. You will never budge this guy one
- 6:21Speaker 1: inch on that. There's nothing you can, that's why I
- 6:24Speaker 1: always tell you, don't argue with these people. There's nothing
- 6:26Speaker 1: you can tell them. Nothing is going to change their mind.
- 6:30Speaker 1: It's not a thing about logic or, you know, anything
- 6:34Speaker 1: like that. There's nothing you can explain to them. It's
- 6:36Speaker 1: in the heart. It's what they used to call the
- 6:38Speaker 1: bleeding heart. There's nothing you can say. But we're waiting
- 6:43Speaker 1: for that body cam footage. Hopefully, Secretary Mullen has confirmed
- 6:47Speaker 1: there is body cam footage of all this. If they
- 6:50Speaker 1: never release it, well, that's a little suspicious. But let's
- 6:54Speaker 1: see if we get it later today. Now, remember, it's
- 6:58Speaker 1: also an election, so they're going to use this. It's
- 7:00Speaker 1: not just their normal grandstanding. But this is election grandstanding
- 7:05Speaker 1: as well. Now, the Wall Street Journal, I don't know
- 7:09Speaker 1: what happened or when it happened exactly. The Wall Street
- 7:13Speaker 1: Journal used to be an actual newspaper. It used to
- 7:15Speaker 1: be a prestigious sort of a newspaper. It then just
- 7:20Speaker 1: turned into, I hate to say, a rag. Basically, it's
- 7:26Speaker 1: just gotten worse and worse and worse. You can't count
- 7:28Speaker 1: on it for anything anymore. about four or five months ago, some, uh,
- 7:34Speaker 1: it was an interview with Scott Besson where he brought
- 7:36Speaker 1: this up, the treasury secretary. He said, it's no longer
- 7:39Speaker 1: a newspaper. It's like a little features magazine. They should
- 7:43Speaker 1: call it the main street journal. It's not a, it's
- 7:45Speaker 1: not a legitimate news source anymore. He really went after them. So, uh,
- 7:49Speaker 1: in the past week, they've gone after him publishing this
- 7:53Speaker 1: story about how violent his temper, his temper is. And
- 7:57Speaker 1: he's throwing these temper tantrums and he threw, uh, a
- 8:01Speaker 1: ketchup bottle against the wall. Well, everybody in the room,
- 8:05Speaker 1: everybody that works with him said this never happened. This
- 8:07Speaker 1: is the wall street journal. And once again, he said,
- 8:10Speaker 1: you know, they're not a newspaper anymore. They're not a
- 8:13Speaker 1: news source anymore. You can't count on them for anything.
- 8:16Speaker 1: So the, uh, story yesterday that broke about Kimberly Guilfoyle,
- 8:22Speaker 1: she was engaged to Don jr. Remember before that TV star,
- 8:26Speaker 1: she was one of the five on the five. She
- 8:28Speaker 1: was at Fox. Uh, but at some point, uh, They
- 8:32Speaker 1: got rid of her. And then the Don Jr. engagement,
- 8:36Speaker 1: that ended and, you know, it's awkward. So the president
- 8:41Speaker 1: appoints her to ambassador to Greece. You know, if your
- 8:45Speaker 1: son breaks up with this woman, what are you going
- 8:47Speaker 1: to do? It's a little awkward. Well, you send her
- 8:48Speaker 1: 4,000 miles away. Perfect. The story comes out that she
- 8:53Speaker 1: was getting donors to pay her bills, that she got
- 8:57Speaker 1: into some credit card debt. Owed 100,000 American Express. Now,
- 9:02Speaker 1: the donor has come forward and backed this up. It
- 9:06Speaker 1: was the Wall Street Journal that released the story. So
- 9:09Speaker 1: that was the problem. It may be true, but the
- 9:12Speaker 1: Wall Street Journal is no longer credible and nobody takes
- 9:14Speaker 1: them seriously anymore. So they asked Rubio about it. they
- 9:19Speaker 1: caught him on the runway. They asked him about, you know,
- 9:21Speaker 1: he's the Secretary of State. He's in charge of these ambassadors.
- 9:24Speaker 1: What are you going to do about it? This is
- 9:25Speaker 1: not the forum where we're going to address that. It's
- 9:27Speaker 1: as simple as that. Suffice it to say, our ambassador
- 9:29Speaker 1: is doing a great job. Our ambassador has been a
- 9:31Speaker 1: strong ambassador here. Yeah. So somebody cut out the best
- 9:35Speaker 1: part of the clip, which is that he said, I'm
- 9:37Speaker 1: not going to take you seriously. He's talking to the
- 9:39Speaker 1: Wall Street Journal. Just you say you have the source.
- 9:42Speaker 1: I don't take you seriously. It doesn't work this way.
- 9:44Speaker 1: Let me know when you get some actual evidence. Well,
- 9:46Speaker 1: Problem is, the donor has come forward and spoken on
- 9:50Speaker 1: camera saying it's true. She wanted him to pay her
- 9:53Speaker 1: credit card bill, $ 100, 000 to American Express. And that she
- 9:57Speaker 1: kept telling him, you know, he said, I can't. she
- 9:59Speaker 1: said well you wire it right to American Express that
- 10:02Speaker 1: way there's no paper trail connecting you and me and
- 10:05Speaker 1: he said now this is interesting he said I can't
- 10:10Speaker 1: do it my wife will kill me my wife will
- 10:12Speaker 1: go what does that imply that there's something she's worried
- 10:15Speaker 1: there's something romantic between him and Kimberly I don't know
- 10:18Speaker 1: what it means Or his wife might just be, maybe
- 10:22Speaker 1: means she's going to get mad that I'm wasting $ 100, 000
- 10:24Speaker 1: on you. But he didn't do it. But this is
- 10:29Speaker 1: what the Wall Street Journal is claiming. And it may
- 10:30Speaker 1: be true, but nobody trusts the Wall Street Journal anymore.
- 10:35Speaker 1: But the donor has spoken publicly. Now, there's all kinds
- 10:38Speaker 1: of people calling for her to step down, that this
- 10:42Speaker 1: is terrible, illegal. I don't think it's actually illegal. And
- 10:47Speaker 1: the ambassador, it's not really.
- 10:52Speaker 1: An ambassador doesn't really do much of anything. You sit
- 10:54Speaker 1: in the embassy. Now, remember, if it's a serious problem
- 10:58Speaker 1: kind of a place, like in the Middle East or
- 11:01Speaker 1: some really troubled war zone kind of country, anything serious,
- 11:05Speaker 1: they send a real ambassador, a real professional, career public service.
- 11:10Speaker 1: Those are the ambassadors in those countries. But when it's
- 11:13Speaker 1: just a fun kind of place, it's usually a big,
- 11:16Speaker 1: huge donor who gave a lot of money. If you
- 11:18Speaker 1: gave a ton of money you become the ambassador to France.
- 11:23Speaker 1: If you gave the most money, you can be England.
- 11:26Speaker 1: You can be the ambassador to the court of St. James.
- 11:29Speaker 1: Give a ton of money. You're the ambassador to Spain.
- 11:31Speaker 1: You'll get the fun European countries. Or if the president
- 11:34Speaker 1: needs to do a favor for somebody, you're the ambassador
- 11:37Speaker 1: to Greece. That's how she did that. Now, the problem
- 11:41Speaker 1: with becoming the ambassador, you don't do much of anything
- 11:44Speaker 1: except throw parties. And people don't know this, but, uh,
- 11:49Speaker 1: When you're one of those ambassadors in France or England,
- 11:52Speaker 1: you have to pay for the parties yourself. You have
- 11:57Speaker 1: to fix up the embassy yourself, your quarters. You have
- 11:59Speaker 1: to furnish it. So there's some people that turn down
- 12:02Speaker 1: the ambassadorship because it's going to cost them a couple
- 12:05Speaker 1: of million between redoing the embassy and throwing the party.
- 12:09Speaker 1: So a lot of people don't want to spend the money.
- 12:11Speaker 1: And there are plenty of people that are ambassadors all
- 12:13Speaker 1: over the place to these fun countries. that are not
- 12:16Speaker 1: in any way qualified. Remember Caroline Kennedy, they owed her something.
- 12:19Speaker 1: She was ambassador to Japan. There's nobody that knows less
- 12:23Speaker 1: about Japan or has any talent as an ambassador than her.
- 12:27Speaker 1: There are people that, I don't want to mention names.
- 12:32Speaker 1: I don't want to say what administration it was, but
- 12:37Speaker 1: can I say which one? No, I can't say because
- 12:39Speaker 1: it'll identify the person. The guy gave so much money
- 12:44Speaker 1: He was in the construction business or real estate. He
- 12:47Speaker 1: gave so much money that he was going to be
- 12:50Speaker 1: an ambassador. That's how much money he gave. But he
- 12:53Speaker 1: had somebody go to the president-elect and say, he said,
- 12:58Speaker 1: you better give him something important. He doesn't want some
- 13:00Speaker 1: stupid country, some little island somewhere. You better give him
- 13:03Speaker 1: a really important ambassadorship. So the president said, okay, you
- 13:09Speaker 1: tell him we'll make him the ambassador to NATO. Wow.
- 13:13Speaker 1: So he went back and he told the guy, You're
- 13:15Speaker 1: going to be ambassador to NATO. And the guy said,
- 13:19Speaker 1: what the hell is that? He goes, what's NATO? I
- 13:21Speaker 1: never heard of that. And he said, it's the North
- 13:24Speaker 1: Atlantic Treaty Organization. That guy said, I don't know what
- 13:26Speaker 1: that is. Where is it? He said, Brussels. And he said,
- 13:31Speaker 1: where the hell's Brussels? And he said, Belgium. And the
- 13:34Speaker 1: guy said, I thought you were going to get me
- 13:35Speaker 1: something good. Brussels, Belgium, NATO. I've never heard of this.
- 13:40Speaker 1: That's how ignorant the guy was. That's who gets made
- 13:44Speaker 1: ambassadors a lot of times. It's just a dumb donor
- 13:47Speaker 1: who gets it very often. So don't take them that seriously.
- 13:50Speaker 1: But again, if it's a serious place, you know, Middle
- 13:54Speaker 1: Eastern trouble spot, they always send a real professional to
- 13:58Speaker 1: be the ambassador. So, hey, Joe Rogan re-signed with Spotify. Wow,
- 14:05Speaker 1: it's been that long. Yeah, it's been almost six years.
- 14:07Speaker 1: So the deal is up. Remember the original contract? Rogan, Spotify.
- 14:14Speaker 1: popular podcast he got it was a 250 million dollar
- 14:18Speaker 1: contract he was getting like 50 million a year for
- 14:21Speaker 1: his podcast uh it's got 18 million followers on spotify
- 14:27Speaker 1: 21 million on youtube so rogan renewed it's expected thought
- 14:33Speaker 1: that it's at least the same amount probably a little
- 14:35Speaker 1: bit of a raise so figure it's 300 million for
- 14:37Speaker 1: the next five years good for him uh david ellison
- 14:42Speaker 1: uh Skydance chairman says, don't worry, CNN, the boss will stay.
- 14:46Speaker 1: We're not going to tamper. We're looking for stability. CNN's
- 14:51Speaker 1: in last place. It's got nobody watching. It's got the
- 14:54Speaker 1: worst ratings in the world, last place. Let's keep that stable.
- 14:58Speaker 1: We want some stability. Actually, what people think is really
- 15:02Speaker 1: going on, CNN is a disaster ratings-wise, financially. What's really
- 15:07Speaker 1: going on is they're going to do layoffs. There's going
- 15:09Speaker 1: to be tons of layoffs, not just CNN, but all
- 15:11Speaker 1: through the, you know, when you buy a, big thing
- 15:13Speaker 1: like that, you got to do layoffs because some of
- 15:15Speaker 1: it's a mess. CNN's a total mess. So instead of
- 15:18Speaker 1: tampering with the editorial interfering, they'll just lay off everybody.
- 15:25Speaker 1: They'll do it that way. There's going to be a
- 15:26Speaker 1: lot of layoffs over there. Also, they'll cheapen things. You know,
- 15:30Speaker 1: remember MSNBC? It was at NBC, Rockefeller Center, NBC, the
- 15:35Speaker 1: studio was like 10 miles long. It was unbelievable. Well,
- 15:39Speaker 1: NBC threw it out. There's no MSNBC anymore. They threw
- 15:42Speaker 1: them the hell out of the company and out of
- 15:44Speaker 1: the building. Now they're in a little studio in Times Square.
- 15:48Speaker 1: It doesn't look quite the same. And they don't have
- 15:51Speaker 1: the resources. They can't cut to correspondence all over the world.
- 15:55Speaker 1: So they'll do that to CNN. They'll trim it down,
- 15:58Speaker 1: cut costs, lay off a lot of people. Hey, we'll
- 16:01Speaker 1: take some calls next. 800-321-0710 is the number. Give us
- 16:04Speaker 1: a call, especially if you're a new caller.
- 16:09Speaker 2: 800-321-0710.
