- 0:02Speaker 1: This is Teddy Teapod with guys. I am so excited
- 0:13Speaker 1: to have Jillian Michaels on teapod today. We have a
- 0:16Speaker 1: lot to dig into. As you know, Jillian has committed
- 0:21Speaker 1: her life to helping people be the best versions of
- 0:23Speaker 1: themselves and live their happiest and healthiest lives. Well, thank
- 0:27Speaker 1: you for joining us on Teddy Teapod this week. I
- 0:33Speaker 1: had to you know, I appreciate you coming on to
- 0:35Speaker 1: have a conversation because I was like, am I funing
- 0:38Speaker 1: with someone? What is happening here? No, you're not. I like,
- 0:44Speaker 1: but I can't say anything anymore without it turning into that.
- 0:47Speaker 1: So I don't know if you actually like I went
- 0:50Speaker 1: back after like I read like the sixth Press article.
- 0:53Speaker 1: I'm like, okay, I need to go listen to what
- 0:55Speaker 1: she actually said. And you didn't say anything bad. I
- 0:58Speaker 1: was like, I don't know anything about your program, and
- 1:00Speaker 1: and they're like, well, she's catching a lot of flak
- 1:02Speaker 1: for it, and I was like, okay, well is she
- 1:05Speaker 1: is she a trainer or a nutritious No? And I
- 1:07Speaker 1: was like, well there's the problem. And here's here's my
- 1:09Speaker 1: advice to you, honestly, because I actually don't know anything
- 1:11Speaker 1: about the program is that whenever I stepped like a
- 1:15Speaker 1: little bit out of my lane. And I do a lot.
- 1:17Speaker 1: I've written books about hormones, I've written books about pregnancy fitness.
- 1:21Speaker 1: I always because people come after me constantly, which I'm
- 1:25Speaker 1: sure you're used to, I always get like the foremost
- 1:28Speaker 1: experts in the space so that I can basically be like,
- 1:31Speaker 1: do which is what I did. You and I have
- 1:33Speaker 1: the same certification, though they said you had no certification.
- 1:39Speaker 1: My point that is what these podcasters do in order
- 1:43Speaker 1: to get click bay so that then press will pick
- 1:45Speaker 1: up the situation. So both people you spoke about have
- 1:49Speaker 1: them and and you know that being said, some of
- 1:53Speaker 1: my coaches don't. It's all about lived experience. But in
- 1:57Speaker 1: that same token, I go to watch workout videos online,
- 2:01Speaker 1: sometimes by people that aren't trainers, but I love their workouts,
- 2:05Speaker 1: you know. So I was just cracking up because I'm like,
- 2:08Speaker 1: people don't even do their research. They just want clickbait,
- 2:11Speaker 1: and then they want people to feel like on edge
- 2:14Speaker 1: with other people, and I'm like, no, I need to
- 2:16Speaker 1: talk to her directly. I literally was like, I know
- 2:19Speaker 1: nothing about the program, so I can't comment about it
- 2:21Speaker 1: because because I just you know, I mean, when you
- 2:24Speaker 1: sort of know or when you know about nutrition and fitness,
- 2:28Speaker 1: you don't need to look into other programs because you
- 2:31Speaker 1: know the science of there's nothing to learn for me there,
- 2:34Speaker 1: you know. When it comes to food, I'm looking at
- 2:36Speaker 1: like what foods are gonna boost my stem cells to
- 2:38Speaker 1: keep me younger for longer. That's the stuff that I'm
- 2:42Speaker 1: actively trying to learn about. But I was like, no,
- 2:46Speaker 1: I know nothing about it. And then they were like, well,
- 2:48Speaker 1: she's catching a ton of plaque. And I'm said, is
- 2:51Speaker 1: she a trainer or is she sort of fin nutritions?
- 2:53Speaker 1: They were like, no, she has no credentials. And then
- 2:56Speaker 1: I was like, well, then that's going to be your problem.
- 2:58Speaker 1: If you step out of your lane. You know, you
- 2:59Speaker 1: got to make sure you back it up with the
- 3:01Speaker 1: right professionals. So I was told you weren't. I to
- 3:05Speaker 1: this day don't know anything about the program and have
- 3:07Speaker 1: no critiques of it, and I'm sure it's perfectly sound.
- 3:11Speaker 1: And listening to so much of the things that you've
- 3:13Speaker 1: done and said and written throughout the years, I have
- 3:15Speaker 1: so much respect for you. I think a lot of
- 3:17Speaker 1: what we talk about the lines and I was like,
- 3:21Speaker 1: I really just want to talk to her, because one,
- 3:22Speaker 1: I admire you. I think you're a lot of the
- 3:26Speaker 1: things that you have said, I'm like, that is exactly
- 3:29Speaker 1: how I feel. I don't know if you know like
- 3:32Speaker 1: the history of me, but at all, probably not. I
- 3:35Speaker 1: do know a little. And this isn't because I'm like
- 3:38Speaker 1: too cool for school the the actual because I hate
- 3:41Speaker 1: when people come up to me and I am not
- 3:43Speaker 1: that person because I know I know who you are,
- 3:45Speaker 1: but they'll be like, yeah, I don't watch TV, and
- 3:49Speaker 1: you're like really, uh, you know, and it's like this
- 3:51Speaker 1: way of putting somebody down or acting like you're too
- 3:54Speaker 1: cool for it. It's not that I'm I'm too cool
- 3:56Speaker 1: for it. I just genuinely and sometimes it's been out
- 4:00Speaker 1: of the loop. So I do know who you are
- 4:02Speaker 1: and I and then my my girlfriend is actually a
- 4:05Speaker 1: huge fan, and she was like, oh babe, she had
- 4:07Speaker 1: I hope I'm not getting this strong. She's like she
- 4:08Speaker 1: had her whole weight, lost journey and the whole thing.
- 4:11Speaker 1: So my girlfriend's like she's younger than me, so she's
- 4:14Speaker 1: a bit more with it on pop culture. Mind you,
- 4:18Speaker 1: So I knew of you. I just didn't know about
- 4:21Speaker 1: your story. And then my girlfriend told me a little
- 4:23Speaker 1: and I was like, don't tell me anymore. I'm just
- 4:24Speaker 1: Gonna'm gonna talk to her and like get to know
- 4:26Speaker 1: her myself. Yeah, no, so I I of course I
- 4:29Speaker 1: don't care. The fact that you haven't watched me is
- 4:32Speaker 1: not something I take offense to. I literally only like,
- 4:38Speaker 1: I will only have time for like one show. You
- 4:41Speaker 1: say it was The Undoing, Please did you want? I don't.
- 4:45Speaker 1: I don't like what is it? No? What is it?
- 4:47Speaker 1: I like, Yeah, it's with Nicole Kidman and Hugh Grabbed
- 4:51Speaker 1: and you need to watch it? Is it new? Six episodes?
- 4:56Speaker 1: You will not soon You're like, we're not feuding. I'm
- 4:59Speaker 1: a sessed with Teddy because she told me to like
- 5:02Speaker 1: not essentially my backstories, I you know, fluctuated await my
- 5:09Speaker 1: whole entire life. I went from you know, not eating
- 5:12Speaker 1: enough to eating way too much, and a lot of
- 5:15Speaker 1: it was lived experience, and after I went through struggles
- 5:17Speaker 1: with IVF and miscarriages and you know, steroids and blood thinners,
- 5:22Speaker 1: and then you know, after I had my kids, I
- 5:24Speaker 1: completely lost myself. You know, I was looking to my
- 5:27Speaker 1: husband to validate me after you know, he'd get home
- 5:30Speaker 1: from work every day and I just really felt like scared.
- 5:33Speaker 1: I was like, what am I doing with my life.
- 5:35Speaker 1: I've you know, gained over eighty five pounds. I'm I'm alone,
- 5:39Speaker 1: I'm scared to be vulnerable. I've gotten to the place
- 5:41Speaker 1: where I'm not comfortable in my own skin. And so
- 5:44Speaker 1: when I originally started my journey, I hadn't done any
- 5:47Speaker 1: you know, research on anything. I just started on Instagram
- 5:49Speaker 1: and said I'm changing my life today. Follow along if
- 5:52Speaker 1: you're interested. And I blogged every day for sixty five days,
- 5:56Speaker 1: and people saw my transformation. And during that time, I
- 5:59Speaker 1: started learning about food and nutrition and how to be
- 6:02Speaker 1: a good influence on my family and on you know,
- 6:06Speaker 1: raising my kids in a home that I can say
- 6:08Speaker 1: like this makes sense, as opposed to the way like
- 6:10Speaker 1: I grew up where I was like, all right, I
- 6:12Speaker 1: have a diet dr Pepper and five string cheese and
- 6:14Speaker 1: I'm good to go. Oh my god, dude. I had
- 6:16Speaker 1: the same upbringing. I swear to it was like diet
- 6:20Speaker 1: sodas and like all white flower like that's all I knew.
- 6:26Speaker 1: So I really dove into like learning what works for
- 6:30Speaker 1: my body and what does it and so much of
- 6:32Speaker 1: what you talked about about, just like lifestyle changes and
- 6:36Speaker 1: figuring out long term things that work for you is
- 6:39Speaker 1: really what all and is all about. And that's why
- 6:41Speaker 1: I was like, I completely think we need to have
- 6:44Speaker 1: this conversation. But like, to be honest with you, I
- 6:48Speaker 1: was extremely clear that I didn't even know anything about
- 6:51Speaker 1: the program and had nothing to bash. So I was
- 6:54Speaker 1: just told you were by these two kids that you
- 6:57Speaker 1: were catching a rash of. And that's when I was like, well,
- 7:01Speaker 1: you know, okay, does she have the ability to back
- 7:03Speaker 1: this up? So are you catching a rash for it?
- 7:07Speaker 1: So a couple of months ago, there's like a there's
- 7:10Speaker 1: a website and it's called doom Moa and it's like
- 7:13Speaker 1: post something I didn't I didn't know about it, but
- 7:16Speaker 1: it posts things like people having affairs. By the way,
- 7:19Speaker 1: they also said that I had sex with Chris Evans.
- 7:21Speaker 1: No press picked it up, none, I like texting my husband.
- 7:27Speaker 1: I'm like, why is no press picking this up? But
- 7:33Speaker 1: you know you like Captain America. Isn't that sounds like
- 7:37Speaker 1: I knew it? I was like, I have an eight
- 7:39Speaker 1: year old, so I think I actually I'm my mind
- 7:41Speaker 1: is like going through my roller backs. I'm not maturis
- 7:43Speaker 1: a superhero. Yeah yeah, yeah, gossip about different about different people.
- 7:49Speaker 1: And they had posted something about from one of my
- 7:53Speaker 1: former clients that that was a client in two thousand
- 7:56Speaker 1: sixteen that sent these messages about out me um. She
- 8:01Speaker 1: also sent me over two d direct messages since like,
- 8:04Speaker 1: you're the most beautiful girl in the world. I love you,
- 8:06Speaker 1: but you're so funny, you know, Like it was one
- 8:08Speaker 1: of those unhealthy situations from the beginning. And then there
- 8:11Speaker 1: was another influencer who I'm not even going to mention
- 8:14Speaker 1: her name I've never met in my life, who spent
- 8:17Speaker 1: you know, four to six weeks just bashing me and
- 8:21Speaker 1: gaining information without having any proper like proof or actually
- 8:28Speaker 1: asking to speak to me, and then just like went
- 8:31Speaker 1: for it. Went to the point where I had to
- 8:32Speaker 1: turn off commenting on my Instagram for like a couple
- 8:34Speaker 1: of weeks, and I just was like, I'm not going
- 8:37Speaker 1: to feed into this negative energy. I'm not gonna do it.
- 8:40Speaker 1: I'm gonna keep doing what I do. I believe in it.
- 8:43Speaker 1: My one of my programs evolved so much since two
- 8:45Speaker 1: thousands sixteen. But also it is something that like I
- 8:51Speaker 1: have to have facts on something before I can openly
- 8:55Speaker 1: like go for it the way that this person did.
- 8:57Speaker 1: And I was like, I can only you know, move
- 9:00Speaker 1: forward with what's right and keep talking about my program
- 9:03Speaker 1: and keep talking about what's changed over fifteen thousand lives
- 9:07Speaker 1: and that's and now thank god, I mean, we're back
- 9:09Speaker 1: to It didn't really other than my mental state, because
- 9:15Speaker 1: you know, it's hard to have somebody just going for
- 9:18Speaker 1: you going through what especially not used to that. It's different.
- 9:22Speaker 1: It was different on Housewives because like, I know what
- 9:25Speaker 1: I'm getting myself into on that. But when it comes
- 9:28Speaker 1: to this, like it's like my heart and soul and
- 9:31Speaker 1: everything that I care about and so much lived experience,
- 9:34Speaker 1: and like my main thing has been to help people.
- 9:38Speaker 1: So when somebody is saying you're doing everything you can
- 9:41Speaker 1: to hurt people, it broke my heart. Like yeah, but
- 9:44Speaker 1: that's what okay, But if you actually okay, so if
- 9:48Speaker 1: you actually listen to the interview where they were like you,
- 9:53Speaker 1: I know what I'm just saying. I'm saying what I
- 9:56Speaker 1: would not from me. I'm saying I was talking about
- 10:00Speaker 1: how haters come from me all the time. Because they
- 10:03Speaker 1: were saying, you you caught a ton of for it,
- 10:05Speaker 1: and I was like, I catch it all the time,
- 10:09Speaker 1: literally from every direction. I catch it. I catch it
- 10:13Speaker 1: from the keto people, I catch it from the vegan
- 10:16Speaker 1: Like god forbid. I'm like, well, you know that's not
- 10:18Speaker 1: optum all, it's like insane. I will catch no matter what.
- 10:24Speaker 1: And that's ay I expected, because that's the part where
- 10:29Speaker 1: I'm kind of surprised you actually don't, because if you
- 10:31Speaker 1: do have that modicum of success, right then people are
- 10:36Speaker 1: the king of the hill. They want to take you down,
- 10:37Speaker 1: they want to tear you apart. Unfortunately, that's our modern
- 10:42Speaker 1: culture is like oh, or you successful, hold on, We're
- 10:45Speaker 1: gonna get this far and then we're gonna tear you
- 10:48Speaker 1: to shreds. So for me, I'm always prepared to catch.
- 10:52Speaker 1: And that's why I catch it so often that my
- 10:56Speaker 1: second piece of advice was if ever I you know,
- 10:59Speaker 1: it's like, well, shed a pregnancy fitness video and she's
- 11:01Speaker 1: never been pregnant and she's not a COC certified, But
- 11:03Speaker 1: I will hire the best pregnancy fitness specialist who is
- 11:07Speaker 1: a COC certified, have her create the program with me,
- 11:10Speaker 1: have her onset, have her on the DVD so that
- 11:12Speaker 1: anybody who steps to me, I'm like, yeah, you fight
- 11:15Speaker 1: with this, and that's where I'm just kind of surprised
- 11:19Speaker 1: that you didn't expect this and anything as as a
- 11:23Speaker 1: peer and hopefully a new found friend. I would think
- 11:26Speaker 1: you might take it as a compliment and as like
- 11:28Speaker 1: a sign of being successful. It took. It took me
- 11:32Speaker 1: a little while to get there, like just being completely
- 11:34Speaker 1: honest and vulnerable. Like the first I mean a lot
- 11:37Speaker 1: happened in one week. You know, this all happened with her,
- 11:41Speaker 1: and then they didn't renew my contract with Housewives, and
- 11:43Speaker 1: that was the same week, and I was just like
- 11:46Speaker 1: in the pandemic and my daughter had just had neurosurgery
- 11:49Speaker 1: too much prior, Like I was a lot. So the
- 11:52Speaker 1: person happened and I was like, listen, I'm used to
- 11:55Speaker 1: catching flak for like my appearance or my voice, so
- 11:59Speaker 1: that I used my hands too much. Are all things
- 12:00Speaker 1: that personally attacked me I actually have come okay with,
- 12:05Speaker 1: But this was the first time it ever happened with
- 12:07Speaker 1: my business, which my husband was actually like, this is
- 12:10Speaker 1: a great thing to your global now. I'm like, you're
- 12:15Speaker 1: such a businessman, but I just never you know. What
- 12:19Speaker 1: I didn't like is that anybody that worked with me
- 12:21Speaker 1: or anything like that. They were getting starting to get bullied,
- 12:25Speaker 1: and I'm just so grateful that that stops. You know,
- 12:27Speaker 1: Like I had a nurse that worked for me, and
- 12:29Speaker 1: they started posting her name and doing these things, and
- 12:32Speaker 1: it's just like, guys, why are we in a place
- 12:36Speaker 1: where if we really thought that damage was being done,
- 12:40Speaker 1: wouldn't you maybe reach out to that person and you know,
- 12:44Speaker 1: talk to them versus. But it isn't about that, and
- 12:49Speaker 1: you know that, I know you know that it's about now.
- 12:53Speaker 1: It's like, I'll give you another example and that God forbid,
- 12:56Speaker 1: I don't need to name another name, so I'll try
- 12:58Speaker 1: to be somewhat vague. It years ago, Oh my god,
- 13:02Speaker 1: I stepped in a pile of this big and it
- 13:06Speaker 1: was my own fault. I was asked by Women's Health,
- 13:10Speaker 1: you know what I was, I going to have kids?
- 13:12Speaker 1: And I was like, I think I'm gonna adopt. And
- 13:15Speaker 1: I was super insecure about talking about endometriosis because I
- 13:19Speaker 1: thought like, oh, if people, you know, know that I
- 13:20Speaker 1: struggled with this, they won't believe that I'm actually good
- 13:22Speaker 1: at what I do. Because it's like, if you're so healthy,
- 13:24Speaker 1: you know, how could you have this? So I was like, oh,
- 13:26Speaker 1: you know, I just don't know if I if I
- 13:28Speaker 1: want to put my body through it. And I was
- 13:30Speaker 1: like comment, like what it would take to get pre anyway,
- 13:33Speaker 1: it was a huge thing. Jillian Michaels thinks pregnancy ruins body.
- 13:36Speaker 1: Jillian hates pregnant women, the whole thing. And there was
- 13:39Speaker 1: a fitness person who's has a degree of success, but
- 13:43Speaker 1: it wasn't overwhelmingly successful, and she was like she's a
- 13:46Speaker 1: monster and she's she's I don't know how to name
- 13:49Speaker 1: of w I was a phobic of pregnant women and
- 13:52Speaker 1: just went after me. But the whole goal was how
- 13:54Speaker 1: can I make a name for myself by attacking Jill
- 13:57Speaker 1: because she's the biggest name in the space. And that's
- 13:59Speaker 1: basic me. What you're going through. It sounds like I
- 14:02Speaker 1: mean and and thankfully I think it's past me. I
- 14:05Speaker 1: don't know, I like just kind of pushed it to
- 14:07Speaker 1: the side and I'm not even looking at it because
- 14:09Speaker 1: business is good, life is good, and I'm just trying
- 14:12Speaker 1: to focus on, you know, growing and learning and the
- 14:14Speaker 1: next thing. But the crazy that you say that the
- 14:17Speaker 1: same thing happened to me was something I said about pregnancy,
- 14:20Speaker 1: like I I cannot wait, So I wasn't. When I
- 14:27Speaker 1: was struggling with IVF, I said publicly, um, you know this,
- 14:33Speaker 1: it's killing me, but you know it's making me crazy
- 14:35Speaker 1: because I always thought like this was the one thing
- 14:37Speaker 1: that I could do, and now that I can't, I
- 14:41Speaker 1: was feeling worthless and everyone was like, you made us
- 14:44Speaker 1: feel terrible, like you, and I was like, but that
- 14:48Speaker 1: I could almost like Okay, maybe I was insensitive in
- 14:52Speaker 1: my tone, but like it was how I was feeling
- 14:54Speaker 1: in the moment that is. Isn't that crazy that in
- 14:57Speaker 1: the world we live in, God forb it, you have
- 15:00Speaker 1: a moment of honesty, you know, because I genuinely was like,
- 15:04Speaker 1: I don't know, it's it's scary for me. And without
- 15:06Speaker 1: getting too much into my personal history, but if I
- 15:09Speaker 1: was to be totally honest with you, it is scary.
- 15:12Speaker 1: Any woman I've ever worked with who's actually pregnant is like,
- 15:15Speaker 1: I'm scared, you know, And I'll tell you like I'm
- 15:18Speaker 1: afraid of tearing, I'm afraid of a c section, I'm
- 15:20Speaker 1: afraid of postpartum. I feel sick, I feel this, I'm
- 15:23Speaker 1: throwing I'm throwing up boam, like literally, and you can
- 15:27Speaker 1: have those conversations privately where you can be like, dude,
- 15:29Speaker 1: I get it, it's scary, or I get it it's hard,
- 15:32Speaker 1: or I get it. You know you're afraid or you
- 15:34Speaker 1: feel this way or you don't want stretch, Mark, but
- 15:37Speaker 1: god forbid you say like I don't want stretch, you bitch,
- 15:41Speaker 1: you don't want to be you have a beautiful bit.
- 15:44Speaker 1: People just yeah, it's crazy and it's weird. We've reached
- 15:47Speaker 1: a place everybody wants to tear each other down when
- 15:51Speaker 1: maybe they even have actually felt the same and it's
- 15:53Speaker 1: really about something they're going through. That's it. And and
- 15:59Speaker 1: I think that it just comes with time and it
- 16:01Speaker 1: comes with doing it. I'm only you know, six years
- 16:04Speaker 1: into my business, so it's or maybe I guess it's
- 16:08Speaker 1: seven now. But so for me, it's like this was
- 16:12Speaker 1: the first time and it was like this big wake
- 16:13Speaker 1: up call like wow, okay, and and but now actually
- 16:17Speaker 1: what it did was light of fire in me to go, Okay,
- 16:21Speaker 1: I'm gonna push harder. I'm gonna leave like I'm gonna
- 16:23Speaker 1: work harder at conveying exactly what it is that you
- 16:27Speaker 1: know that you're getting so there's no confusion to anybody
- 16:30Speaker 1: and what this is the business. The business is called
- 16:33Speaker 1: all in. The business is all in its accountability program.
- 16:36Speaker 1: So the way it works is once you sign up,
- 16:39Speaker 1: there's a two week jump start. You send uh your scale, breakfast, lunch, dinner,
- 16:45Speaker 1: proof of two snacks and you know, we're essentially your
- 16:48Speaker 1: cheerleaders through the process, or the friend that tells you
- 16:51Speaker 1: what you need to hear versus what you want to hear.
- 16:54Speaker 1: And if you don't send it and there's not a
- 16:57Speaker 1: good reason for it, then you're no longer in the program.
- 17:02Speaker 1: So what's the issue? I don't get it. So that's that's,
- 17:05Speaker 1: you know exactly like on our website it says, you know,
- 17:08Speaker 1: not everybody's you know, certified coach. You know, all of
- 17:12Speaker 1: the information is completely you know, laid out there. But
- 17:15Speaker 1: every single one of my every single one of my
- 17:18Speaker 1: coaches went through the program and changed their life through it.
- 17:22Speaker 1: So there's certif in the program and the program was
- 17:24Speaker 1: I love the way that I'm I'm just asking, Look,
- 17:26Speaker 1: I've been doing business coaching, so now you don't need it.
- 17:31Speaker 1: But my brain is like I've been helping people like
- 17:34Speaker 1: with their brain, So my brain is like, okay, and
- 17:37Speaker 1: that even though you don't need that. I'm just like,
- 17:39Speaker 1: are the people that co created the program with you,
- 17:41Speaker 1: do they have the necessary credentials to certify your coaches? Well,
- 17:45Speaker 1: I mean I created it myself through and you and
- 17:49Speaker 1: you have the certifications, and I have the certifications. So
- 17:52Speaker 1: it's your program, your diet, your workout. You have the certifications,
- 17:56Speaker 1: and they're just coaching people through the steps. Yes, which
- 17:59Speaker 1: is the same as Jin craig or weight watcher. Thing
- 18:01Speaker 1: about it pulling for your chickens. The person doing your
- 18:04Speaker 1: check in isn't a certified coach. You could do that though,
- 18:11Speaker 1: by the way, you can have your own cer certification
- 18:14Speaker 1: program for you know, and add out to your business.
- 18:17Speaker 1: But that's a whole difference. But the main one was eat.
- 18:19Speaker 1: When I first started my business, I didn't have the certifications.
- 18:23Speaker 1: I just did it off lived experience, and I as
- 18:25Speaker 1: I started doing it, I realized, these are things that
- 18:28Speaker 1: I want to learn, These are things that I want
- 18:29Speaker 1: to know. I have these nutritions, look at the program
- 18:32Speaker 1: to make sure that it's right. Oh, I should add
- 18:34Speaker 1: this perfect I did, like, these are all things that
- 18:37Speaker 1: I want to make sure that you're feeling your best.
- 18:40Speaker 1: And really what works in my program isn't about the food,
- 18:44Speaker 1: which everybody knows like eat clean, healthy food and you
- 18:48Speaker 1: move and you lose weight, pretty clear, but it's it's
- 18:53Speaker 1: about the accountability. All of a suddenhen you're having to
- 18:55Speaker 1: send picture proof and you've got skin in the game,
- 18:58Speaker 1: and then you don't, and then on day three you're saying,
- 19:01Speaker 1: you know what, I don't feel like doing this. I
- 19:02Speaker 1: can send you the message from day one on the
- 19:04Speaker 1: day that you start and say, remember how you felt
- 19:07Speaker 1: this day that yeah. I think Also people will often
- 19:14Speaker 1: ask me. I even think on that same podcast, it
- 19:18Speaker 1: was like, well, you know what if it's too strict
- 19:20Speaker 1: or stringent or and it's like, look, different things work
- 19:24Speaker 1: for different people. So if it's like, no, I got
- 19:27Speaker 1: to be held accountable and I need you know, I
- 19:29Speaker 1: need steaks, I need skin in the game, then that's
- 19:31Speaker 1: what's gonna work for that person. Some people do better
- 19:34Speaker 1: on something that's more stringent because they want greater results
- 19:37Speaker 1: at a faster pace. And I'm not saying more stringent
- 19:39Speaker 1: than your program, I mean in general. And then on
- 19:41Speaker 1: the other hand, some people feel restricted if you put
- 19:44Speaker 1: them on something that's two regimented, and it triggers feelings
- 19:48Speaker 1: of deprivation and it sends them spiraling off the wagon.
- 19:52Speaker 1: So there's different programs out there for reasons, so someone
- 19:55Speaker 1: can find something that works for them. And that's you.
- 19:59Speaker 1: You know, I tried every program there. I even did
- 20:01Speaker 1: the cookie diet, I did e G diet, I went
- 20:05Speaker 1: through everything. Are that I'm gonna bash. I'm going to
- 20:10Speaker 1: bash the I mean, I can't believe they let like
- 20:13Speaker 1: a nineteen year old girl do that like I and
- 20:17Speaker 1: and and it was all things that weren't sustainable for
- 20:20Speaker 1: your life, which is why and actually make you feel sick,
- 20:23Speaker 1: which is why I like dedicated my life, not only
- 20:27Speaker 1: because it's the only thing that holds me accountable to
- 20:28Speaker 1: this lifestyle is also like doing things that you can
- 20:33Speaker 1: do for the rest of your life. It's and and
- 20:35Speaker 1: if it doesn't work for you, and this isn't something
- 20:37Speaker 1: you want to do, don't sign up. That being said,
- 20:40Speaker 1: it is it is for everybody. Like you don't have
- 20:42Speaker 1: to be able to run a marathon, Like there's some
- 20:44Speaker 1: people that go on walks. It's just moving. But if
- 20:47Speaker 1: you're sedentary and you're eating all junk food, you're not
- 20:50Speaker 1: gonna lose weight, so you're probably gonna gain actually gonna
- 20:56Speaker 1: go the other way, I know. Should we take a
- 20:58Speaker 1: little break and then for the next part, I'm gonna
- 21:01Speaker 1: talk to you about like maybe some New Year's thing.
- 21:04Speaker 1: I'm gonna get some advice for you from some of
- 21:05Speaker 1: my listeners. A lot of questions came in. Oh my goodness,
- 21:09Speaker 1: okay on my marshmallow chapstick while I wait through the break.
- 21:21Speaker 1: I feel like my lips are more chapped during this
- 21:23Speaker 1: pandemic than they were before. He says, this whole year
- 21:28Speaker 1: has been absolutely nuts, has it not? Not even pandemic wise?
- 21:34Speaker 1: Like the things the people I know are going through,
- 21:36Speaker 1: It's like nuts, dude. Just oh, my dad has brand
- 21:40Speaker 1: surgery and my mom almost died from COVID. This kind
- 21:43Speaker 1: of you're like every person I know something like beyond
- 21:47Speaker 1: belief has happened in one of their families, the same
- 21:50Speaker 1: like horandous breakups after like tangy years with like just awful.
- 21:56Speaker 1: Like one guy lost his wife on in front of
- 22:00Speaker 1: his two daughters on his birthday while he was golf
- 22:03Speaker 1: and she she was thirty four years old, just the craziest.
- 22:07Speaker 1: I think you're like, all right, I know, which is why,
- 22:11Speaker 1: like I think so many people have questions about like one,
- 22:15Speaker 1: because we are going into a year of unknowns. I know,
- 22:19Speaker 1: we even though people think like, oh, I'm so excited
- 22:22Speaker 1: to get to Okay, it's going to be similar to
- 22:27Speaker 1: do you think it's gonna be that bad? I actually
- 22:30Speaker 1: am hopeful. And that's more I think at the beginning
- 22:32Speaker 1: it's gonna I don't think January it's gonna be here
- 22:35Speaker 1: we go. Is that we're not going to keep I think, okay,
- 22:40Speaker 1: here's my here's my My hope for for one is
- 22:45Speaker 1: that look, COVID cannot go on forever. The Spanish flu
- 22:50Speaker 1: didn't go on forever and that was So it's one.
- 22:55Speaker 1: And we've got I believe at least three companies, right
- 22:58Speaker 1: and Moderna, fives do I think Astro Zeneca, that all
- 23:01Speaker 1: have a pretty effective vaccine. This has got to come
- 23:04Speaker 1: to an end in the not too distant future. I mean,
- 23:07Speaker 1: what do we got six more months of this chaos?
- 23:10Speaker 1: Like at some point this this vaccine will get into
- 23:15Speaker 1: gen pop. The most vulnerable communities will be vaccinated first,
- 23:19Speaker 1: God willing, and then we'll begin to reopen and people
- 23:22Speaker 1: will be able to go back to work, and a
- 23:24Speaker 1: lot of that depression and and you know, insanity and
- 23:28Speaker 1: chaos that it has begotten, in my opinion, in family
- 23:32Speaker 1: units and marriages and all of that will hopefully begin
- 23:35Speaker 1: to two ease up. Um. I'm also hoping that this
- 23:40Speaker 1: year puts so much pressure on so many different situations
- 23:44Speaker 1: that were unstable to begin with, right, whether it was
- 23:46Speaker 1: a marriage that might have gone ten years too long,
- 23:49Speaker 1: but COVID just cracked that half. It was like nope,
- 23:52Speaker 1: dam it was like a fault line and COVID just
- 23:55Speaker 1: applied pressure and the whole thing shattered. So it was
- 23:58Speaker 1: a terrible year, But maybe maybe it got you out
- 24:01Speaker 1: of a croppy marriage that you needed to be out of,
- 24:04Speaker 1: you know, maybe it brought things to an end, whether
- 24:06Speaker 1: it was a career you weren't totally fulfilled in a
- 24:09Speaker 1: relationship that wasn't totally right for you. And while it
- 24:13Speaker 1: wrought wrecked havoc personally and professionally for so many, I'm
- 24:18Speaker 1: hoping that it almost it's like this huge tsunami hit everyone,
- 24:22Speaker 1: and maybe it's taking all the old stuff out and
- 24:24Speaker 1: maybe it is making way for new beginnings. I mean,
- 24:28Speaker 1: that's the only way I don't and I mean I
- 24:31Speaker 1: even know personal reasons, like I've started putting in the
- 24:34Speaker 1: work when it comes to my marriage, Like we are
- 24:36Speaker 1: now reading together, we're talking about things we didn't talk
- 24:40Speaker 1: about because we have the time now and we need
- 24:43Speaker 1: to do it, like in order to grow as a couple,
- 24:46Speaker 1: as in order to grow as parents. So hopefully this
- 24:50Speaker 1: time we actually take it. I'm not saying that every
- 24:52Speaker 1: day we wake up and we need to be like, yes,
- 24:54Speaker 1: we're gonna do everything, but take the time to like
- 24:58Speaker 1: get to know the people in your life matter and
- 25:02Speaker 1: tough conversation so that you don't, you know, become a
- 25:05Speaker 1: pressure cooker and everything you know cracks that you know
- 25:09Speaker 1: when things get rough, and and when it comes to
- 25:11Speaker 1: health and fitness, what do you think, as people are
- 25:14Speaker 1: coming through so much stress, we should focus on, you know,
- 25:18Speaker 1: as this year closes out going into My message has
- 25:24Speaker 1: never changed, um And all I do is stack up
- 25:28Speaker 1: empirical evidence too to prove my point that you know,
- 25:35Speaker 1: your health is the platform your entire life is built
- 25:38Speaker 1: on top of. It's irrefutable, it is your number one wealth.
- 25:43Speaker 1: It is your health is not good, everything else will
- 25:47Speaker 1: suffer indirectly without question. And now you know, I started
- 25:52Speaker 1: out this year with another scandal unto my under um,
- 25:56Speaker 1: you know where it was like I was attacked by
- 25:59Speaker 1: you know, a variety of people, which, as I said,
- 26:00Speaker 1: it is part of the course, but about how you
- 26:02Speaker 1: know you could be healthy in any size, which is both.
- 26:06Speaker 1: And it's like then COVID hit right three months later,
- 26:09Speaker 1: and I was like, really, what is the top contributing
- 26:12Speaker 1: factor to the severity of your COVID case? Obesity? I mean, like,
- 26:19Speaker 1: if there's anything else we need to add to our
- 26:22Speaker 1: plate to motivate us in the coming year and the
- 26:25Speaker 1: coming years, the coming decades to take better care of yourself.
- 26:30Speaker 1: Look at how the people you know, right, the friends,
- 26:34Speaker 1: the family, their friends and family that had COVID, how
- 26:36Speaker 1: they fare. It's very clear that when we take care
- 26:41Speaker 1: of our health, it was just a much easier virus
- 26:45Speaker 1: to manage. I'm sorry, it just is. It's it's not
- 26:47Speaker 1: a question that I'm not a doctor. The doctors have
- 26:50Speaker 1: come out, they've identified obesity is it is a major problem.
- 26:54Speaker 1: And of all the times to really grab the bowl
- 26:58Speaker 1: by the horns here and find you know, the silver lining.
- 27:01Speaker 1: If COVID hasn't driven you to prioritize your health. I
- 27:06Speaker 1: just don't know. I don't know what does. And I
- 27:10Speaker 1: mean I think I fully hear what you're saying, and
- 27:12Speaker 1: I think so many people I'm sure they say the
- 27:14Speaker 1: same to you. Say to me, how are you so
- 27:17Speaker 1: motivated all the time? How are you so motivated? And
- 27:19Speaker 1: I always say back, I am not motivated. I am.
- 27:23Speaker 1: I am. If I was waiting to be motivated every
- 27:25Speaker 1: single day, I would quit. I'm committed. So to yourself,
- 27:31Speaker 1: you have to schedule yourself and to your day, and
- 27:33Speaker 1: you have to make yourself a priority before you can
- 27:36Speaker 1: take care of anybody else. And also, kids are seeing
- 27:39Speaker 1: what you're doing. The people in your life know what
- 27:42Speaker 1: you're doing. So if you are not moving, if you're
- 27:45Speaker 1: not taking care of yourself, and yet you're on your
- 27:47Speaker 1: phone like this, go play outside, kids, I'm going to
- 27:52Speaker 1: do it. They're just not. You have to practice what
- 27:56Speaker 1: you preach, you have to show up your fan or
- 28:00Speaker 1: those things aren't going to change. And like when you
- 28:03Speaker 1: even talk about like I read something I think it
- 28:04Speaker 1: was in the Washington Post about how teenage suicide is up,
- 28:10Speaker 1: and it's heartbreaking because are one living their entire life
- 28:15Speaker 1: on social media which we know how good that works
- 28:17Speaker 1: out for us. And these filtered versions of people's lives
- 28:23Speaker 1: are their highlight reels and and they don't have any
- 28:28Speaker 1: ability because nobody's nobody's taking action. Did you watch um
- 28:34Speaker 1: The Social Dilemma on Netflix? Oh my god, it's rules
- 28:40Speaker 1: with the filters and then deleting it in one second
- 28:43Speaker 1: if they don't get enough likes. Oh I will let
- 28:47Speaker 1: my kids have social I mean they're only eight and ten,
- 28:49Speaker 1: and I'm like, no, way, no, no, how not happening.
- 28:54Speaker 1: I let my daughter have an eye cloud so she
- 28:57Speaker 1: can text her grandparents and stuff like. That's it. Like
- 29:00Speaker 1: they're like, can I can I do that? No? Now no,
- 29:05Speaker 1: because like I already know, I already know what they
- 29:08Speaker 1: do to me, and like I have a pretty good
- 29:12Speaker 1: is when it comes to taking one on the chain,
- 29:16Speaker 1: I know, I know exactly what you're talking about, but
- 29:18Speaker 1: it it does it. I noticed even for me personally
- 29:22Speaker 1: with friends, like you see pre COVID friends out to
- 29:26Speaker 1: dinner and You're like, I wasn't invited and it would
- 29:28Speaker 1: give me like it would make me feel secure and
- 29:31Speaker 1: left out. It brought me like that high school. Yes, dude,
- 29:36Speaker 1: I was like, I'm gonna mute that person. It was ridiculous.
- 29:40Speaker 1: I'm like, I'm a grown ass woman. It made me
- 29:42Speaker 1: feel like complete. I know socialist social is tough. It's tough, yeah,
- 29:48Speaker 1: and it keep talking about using it as a force
- 29:50Speaker 1: of good, but it's like, you know, which during a pandemic,
- 29:53Speaker 1: you're thinking, okay, community, right, like, how can we use
- 29:56Speaker 1: it to bring people together and build community? But my god,
- 29:59Speaker 1: right now the out rhythms are definitely set up for
- 30:02Speaker 1: the opposite to make people just feel like a lot
- 30:05Speaker 1: of people little worse. And and now it's got to
- 30:07Speaker 1: the point where people can't be vulnerable and share what
- 30:10Speaker 1: they're going through because then either they're gonna get attacked
- 30:13Speaker 1: for it or um, you want attention. Oh, I didn't
- 30:18Speaker 1: hear the one attention I do know, like the old
- 30:21Speaker 1: cancel culture thing, like god forbid you say like I
- 30:24Speaker 1: hate IVF or you know it's like I do know,
- 30:31Speaker 1: I do know that, but I did not hear that.
- 30:33Speaker 1: You want attention. Things want attention because you're sharing instead
- 30:37Speaker 1: of like you want you want people to know they're
- 30:39Speaker 1: not alone. You want attention. Oh my god. A lighter
- 30:51Speaker 1: note for those that don't like their gyms are closed,
- 30:55Speaker 1: and that entire portion of them has, you know, kind
- 30:58Speaker 1: of shut down and they're using that is the reason
- 31:01Speaker 1: why they can't work out. Can you tell us a
- 31:03Speaker 1: little about your fitness app? Oh, you're so cute. I mean, look,
- 31:06Speaker 1: here's the reality is that. Um, you know, you and
- 31:10Speaker 1: I both know that you don't need a gym. There's
- 31:12Speaker 1: a million things you could do. So there are million apps.
- 31:16Speaker 1: Mine is one, and you have a program, right there's
- 31:18Speaker 1: there's a million different opportunities to work out at home,
- 31:24Speaker 1: to get outside that are affordable and accessible. You don't
- 31:28Speaker 1: need two thousand dollars for a bike. You don't need
- 31:30Speaker 1: two thousand dollars for a screen on the wall, which
- 31:33Speaker 1: you know is a great business, but not everybody has
- 31:35Speaker 1: that kind of money. I mean, you can easily utilize
- 31:38Speaker 1: your own body weight or some free weights, a jump rope.
- 31:42Speaker 1: I mean there, it's limitless. So I don't want to
- 31:45Speaker 1: do it. You have to want to do I don't
- 31:47Speaker 1: want to do it exactly like I mean, I could
- 31:49Speaker 1: literally name a harder different exercises right now. You need
- 31:51Speaker 1: no equipment for side lunges or lunges, air squats, weighted squats,
- 31:57Speaker 1: side squats, push ups, walk out, push ups, it up,
- 32:00Speaker 1: plank jumping Jack's heinis, But I mean the point is
- 32:04Speaker 1: it's totally there for you, and it's totally affordable. But yes,
- 32:08Speaker 1: you're right, you've got to be committed. You've gotta want it,
- 32:11Speaker 1: You've got to have your I have often said, you've
- 32:14Speaker 1: got to have that why, right, which is why you
- 32:17Speaker 1: do the work, why you stay committed because it is work.
- 32:21Speaker 1: It is it's sacrifice and it's work. But if you've
- 32:24Speaker 1: got a reason to do it, then you bring you
- 32:27Speaker 1: bring a purpose to the work, and then it becomes
- 32:30Speaker 1: a passion, whereas without it, I think it just feels
- 32:33Speaker 1: more punishing to people. And the year has felt so
- 32:35Speaker 1: punishing that they're like, I just can't I can't take
- 32:38Speaker 1: one more thing that doesn't feel like a glass of
- 32:40Speaker 1: wine in front of the undoing. Actually another like now
- 32:44Speaker 1: that i've that's my night to night. But I mean,
- 32:47Speaker 1: I think also it's about figuring out what you like.
- 32:50Speaker 1: I mean, I know that I used to fail. What
- 32:52Speaker 1: I would say every day, I need to wake up
- 32:54Speaker 1: and I need to do this. It's going to be this.
- 32:56Speaker 1: I'm gonna run this, or I'm gonna lift this way,
- 32:58Speaker 1: or I'm gonna go to this class or do whatever
- 33:00Speaker 1: be to start. Just do something, just do, and then
- 33:05Speaker 1: you'll start to prave it. Then you'll realize that you're
- 33:09Speaker 1: mentally feeling better because you're moving in some capacity. And
- 33:13Speaker 1: then now it's a good time to try out different
- 33:15Speaker 1: things to see what you actually like and then do
- 33:18Speaker 1: more of that. I totally agree with you. I even
- 33:20Speaker 1: took up like I had never jumped rope before, and
- 33:23Speaker 1: when we were in full blown lockdown, which now we
- 33:26Speaker 1: are again, uh god bless this year, Um, I bought
- 33:31Speaker 1: a jump rope and I was like, I'm gonna learn
- 33:33Speaker 1: something new. I've always sucked at this. I wonder if
- 33:35Speaker 1: I could get good at it. And I started watching
- 33:37Speaker 1: these guys on YouTube called the jump Rope Dudes. I'm
- 33:40Speaker 1: not kidding, and I like worked out with the jump
- 33:43Speaker 1: rope Dudes in my room because it was just something
- 33:47Speaker 1: different for me. And now I'm actually, I mean, these
- 33:50Speaker 1: guys are amazing. They're there are guys that are incredible
- 33:52Speaker 1: at it. But now I'm like, oh my god, I
- 33:54Speaker 1: can actually jump rope for like twenty minutes, and I
- 33:56Speaker 1: can do like sign swives and boxer skips and you know,
- 34:00Speaker 1: cross skips and double unders, and it was fun for me.
- 34:03Speaker 1: It was something proud of you, was something new to develop.
- 34:05Speaker 1: It was a new skills that I didn't think I
- 34:08Speaker 1: could ever get good at. And You're ready gave me
- 34:10Speaker 1: an opportunity to try something new, get out of my
- 34:13Speaker 1: comfort zone. And I was nice and even you saying that.
- 34:17Speaker 1: Just now, I'm like, oh my gosh, now that I
- 34:18Speaker 1: don't know pee my pants anymore after my last baby,
- 34:21Speaker 1: I want to try it. Like I think, also keep
- 34:23Speaker 1: about to set new goals for yourself. Like for me,
- 34:26Speaker 1: I'm complacent is when I get myself in the most
- 34:29Speaker 1: trauma like complacency is not my friend. Like I have
- 34:35Speaker 1: to like it doesn't matter if it's you know, and
- 34:38Speaker 1: more like I need to focus on doing more meditation
- 34:41Speaker 1: or yoga or stretching or running or whatever it may be.
- 34:46Speaker 1: Like I have to do that. I find that you,
- 34:50Speaker 1: you and I and I'm gonna speak for you here
- 34:52Speaker 1: based on you know what you've told me today, that
- 34:54Speaker 1: you and I do have these inherent sort of obligations
- 34:58Speaker 1: to it. Now where it's your business, it's my business.
- 35:01Speaker 1: We do have kids, right, So when you look at
- 35:03Speaker 1: these variety of wise it's like, well, now it's my business.
- 35:08Speaker 1: You got to show Peo about the like I actually
- 35:10Speaker 1: know what I'm talking about because my livelihood depends on this.
- 35:14Speaker 1: I'm my best before and after, best case study. And
- 35:18Speaker 1: then you know you're right with the kids, what can
- 35:21Speaker 1: you actually do? You you do lead by example. You
- 35:24Speaker 1: are their primary role model, least for you know, the
- 35:27Speaker 1: first decade. I would certainly hope or I've noticed and
- 35:32Speaker 1: you know, my kids will if I'm out paddle boarding
- 35:35Speaker 1: or horseback riding or jumping group for skiing. They're doing
- 35:38Speaker 1: that with me. It's not like, oh, let me lift
- 35:40Speaker 1: weights there eight and ten, right, But it teaches them
- 35:44Speaker 1: that an athletic lifestyles a fun lifestyle, and you know,
- 35:47Speaker 1: it builds their confidence and they get into karate because
- 35:50Speaker 1: I was into karate. So yeah, there's a motivation there.
- 35:53Speaker 1: And for me, I want to be that cool mom,
- 35:55Speaker 1: Like I want my kids to look back and be like,
- 35:57Speaker 1: my mom was such a badass. She was snow a
- 36:00Speaker 1: boarding with me in Tahoe on a black diamond, Like
- 36:04Speaker 1: I want that to be their memory of me, you
- 36:07Speaker 1: know what I mean? And you and I have all
- 36:09Speaker 1: these wise and I would say that no, matter what
- 36:13Speaker 1: the why is, whether it's just skinny jeans, or it's
- 36:17Speaker 1: meaning your great grandchildren, or it's raising money for cancer
- 36:21Speaker 1: research because you lost a loved one to cancer this
- 36:24Speaker 1: year and so you decided to do like a stand
- 36:26Speaker 1: up to cancer triathlon, whatever it is. I also like
- 36:30Speaker 1: to find something that really is meaningful to me and
- 36:35Speaker 1: it helps me better tolerate that work and that sacrifice.
- 36:38Speaker 1: And you and I have a lot of wise I
- 36:40Speaker 1: would say, I'm hoping a lot of your your listeners,
- 36:43Speaker 1: your watchers probably have similar ones. It's probably not their business.
- 36:47Speaker 1: But why I created the business because I knew that
- 36:52Speaker 1: I needed this so I could continue to have it
- 36:55Speaker 1: for myself. I was somebody who you know growing up
- 36:59Speaker 1: and do it, you know, living the way that I did.
- 37:02Speaker 1: I had every excuse in the book to quit all
- 37:04Speaker 1: the time, and being accountable has been the only thing
- 37:08Speaker 1: that has worked for me. And it doesn't matter. I mean,
- 37:11Speaker 1: I could do any program, it's just the accountability aspect
- 37:15Speaker 1: of it is what I needed and which is why
- 37:17Speaker 1: you need get it. And I think that some people
- 37:19Speaker 1: do it, and and I think that regardless of where
- 37:22Speaker 1: you are, it's never too late to get started. Also,
- 37:27Speaker 1: I think people would say, I'm I'm over this age.
- 37:29Speaker 1: I can't get started. Anybody can get started. You don't
- 37:33Speaker 1: have to do exactly what I'm doing or what Jillian's doing,
- 37:36Speaker 1: but you can get started on what works for you.
- 37:38Speaker 1: It's not one size fits all, but it is like
- 37:42Speaker 1: you have you have to do some work for it
- 37:44Speaker 1: to work for you. Without question. Yeah, it's like you
- 37:48Speaker 1: can't just show up at your business or at your
- 37:52Speaker 1: job and not work and not get fired. You know,
- 37:57Speaker 1: even if it is if it's your own business and
- 37:58Speaker 1: you show up and you don't do anything, you're going
- 38:00Speaker 1: out of business. That's the reality. Like you're talking about
- 38:03Speaker 1: how you're working with your husband on the marriage, I mean,
- 38:07Speaker 1: marriages are constant work. It doesn't mean they always work out,
- 38:11Speaker 1: but it's it's work. It's not easy. Let's work, and
- 38:14Speaker 1: you have to like show up for each other or
- 38:17Speaker 1: else it won't work. So whatever that is. It it's
- 38:20Speaker 1: the same thing with yourself. Your relationship with yourself is
- 38:23Speaker 1: just as important as your relationship with other people. Because
- 38:26Speaker 1: if you hate yourself, you are not going to be
- 38:29Speaker 1: good with anybody. Oh my god. And if you're you know, okay,
- 38:32Speaker 1: here's a good one that I was thinking about our
- 38:34Speaker 1: relationship that had gone sideways, not a romantic one, and I,
- 38:38Speaker 1: you know, I was being feeling very sanctimonious, and I
- 38:40Speaker 1: was like, I was such a good friend and I
- 38:42Speaker 1: did this and I did this, and I did this
- 38:44Speaker 1: and I did this, and I didn't do anything wrong.
- 38:46Speaker 1: I don't even see my side of the street here.
- 38:48Speaker 1: I would kill for a friend like me and then,
- 38:50Speaker 1: believe it or not, I saw this really stupid cheesy
- 38:53Speaker 1: meme on someone's Instagram and it was like, do things
- 38:57Speaker 1: for people because you love them, not because as or
- 39:00Speaker 1: like not for love. And I was like, oh my god,
- 39:03Speaker 1: Like everything I did I did because I wanted them
- 39:06Speaker 1: to love me. I expected something in return, and I
- 39:09Speaker 1: didn't get what I wanted in return. So I felt
- 39:11Speaker 1: slight and and I was like, this is my own
- 39:13Speaker 1: bull like still deep down, this is my own insecurity
- 39:17Speaker 1: of feeling unlovable. So I over gave, over extended myself
- 39:21Speaker 1: then felt resentful and bitter about it. And it's like
- 39:26Speaker 1: how many times do I need to have the same
- 39:28Speaker 1: lesson of like, you gotta give this stuff to yourself.
- 39:30Speaker 1: You gotta be that support system for you first. You
- 39:34Speaker 1: gotta love yourself first, and then what other people do
- 39:37Speaker 1: give you will be enough, but not looking for them
- 39:41Speaker 1: to kind of complete you or over it's all anyway.
- 39:44Speaker 1: My point is you're absolutely right. If you don't deal
- 39:47Speaker 1: with you first, all of your relationships are going to
- 39:50Speaker 1: kind of inherently have that fault line in them. Of course,
- 39:53Speaker 1: if you don't, and you don't and also if you
- 39:55Speaker 1: don't know yourself. Like as silly as it is, I
- 39:58Speaker 1: just took the Love Language Is quiz and you ever
- 40:00Speaker 1: taken that? Oh my god, everyone has told me to
- 40:02Speaker 1: read this damn book. I've got to read it. Everyone
- 40:06Speaker 1: was like, oh, I'm a person that wants um quality time.
- 40:11Speaker 1: That's what I want. That's me that I took the
- 40:13Speaker 1: quiz and it's like, no, you want words of affirmation.
- 40:15Speaker 1: And I was like, what compliments? And like I had
- 40:20Speaker 1: to have these like big talk with myself. And I
- 40:22Speaker 1: was like, honey, maybe I needed to feel like tell
- 40:26Speaker 1: me things in the morning by compliments, not compliments, but
- 40:29Speaker 1: like you're doing a good job. But I had absolutely
- 40:33Speaker 1: and choosefully now that we've made that his acts of service,
- 40:36Speaker 1: which is of course my worst thing. I was like, great,
- 40:39Speaker 1: Like you want me to like fix you breakfast and
- 40:42Speaker 1: do all these things. But it's like silly the things
- 40:45Speaker 1: you don't even know about yourself. But once you make
- 40:47Speaker 1: a little shift, so like I'm like, oh, wow, I
- 40:50Speaker 1: do have a pep in my step when my husband's like,
- 40:52Speaker 1: oh I listen to your podcast. I loved it, like
- 40:54Speaker 1: which I never would have thought that's something I need it.
- 40:58Speaker 1: Oh I got it. I totally get it. Yeah. It's
- 41:02Speaker 1: an ongoing journey of self exploration, isn't it. It's like,
- 41:06Speaker 1: no matter how old I get, no matter how much
- 41:08Speaker 1: work I think I've done on myself, there's always something
- 41:12Speaker 1: new to learn. But that's that's why write You're saying
- 41:15Speaker 1: you're committed, you're all in, because it is. It's like
- 41:17Speaker 1: it never ends. It doesn't end. It's an ongoing journey
- 41:21Speaker 1: of evolving and growing and staying committed to that process.
- 41:24Speaker 1: But it's worth it. It's worth it for sure. I
- 41:27Speaker 1: have two last questions that are um their first which
- 41:32Speaker 1: honestly a lot of people ask this question so they
- 41:35Speaker 1: want to know what your biggest like flex is on
- 41:37Speaker 1: the holiday, Like, what is like the one indulgence that
- 41:41Speaker 1: you really get into it? I got Okay, So you
- 41:44Speaker 1: know where I really do sort of cheat and I
- 41:49Speaker 1: have my justifications for it to a certain extent is
- 41:52Speaker 1: with alcoholic I don't drink a lot, but if I
- 41:56Speaker 1: had my way, like if I really was just a blend,
- 42:00Speaker 1: I would probably have like maybe two glasses of red
- 42:05Speaker 1: wine a week because I'm like I could just supplement
- 42:08Speaker 1: like n MN and reservera traw like a thousand Grahams
- 42:11Speaker 1: and dank and all the benefits from my surtoins and
- 42:16Speaker 1: my longevity G Like I can get like that's what
- 42:18Speaker 1: I mean when I'm like not so about like getting
- 42:21Speaker 1: out on that sort of out of edge of the
- 42:22Speaker 1: universe with food and supplements. But you know that's from
- 42:26Speaker 1: like it kind of makes me a little chubby. I'm
- 42:27Speaker 1: already estrogen dominant, and you know it's like makes me
- 42:31Speaker 1: a little soft, like I wish I would just I
- 42:34Speaker 1: love the ability to be like Jlo be like I
- 42:35Speaker 1: don't drink. And she just did this thing with about
- 42:39Speaker 1: her skin line. I was her like new you know,
- 42:42Speaker 1: skin by Jailer or whatever it's called. I was like,
- 42:44Speaker 1: her skin is flawshed's not the sun shrinking, Like I mean,
- 42:49Speaker 1: she started another feud. That's you and I decide that
- 42:53Speaker 1: we want to go after Jailo because we're so jealous.
- 42:56Speaker 1: Like literally, I'm like, you're disgusting, Jennifer Lopez. Nobody looks
- 43:00Speaker 1: like that. You've said an unreasonable example, and I'm curious
- 43:04Speaker 1: problem she and she works so hard, Like you have
- 43:10Speaker 1: to just be obsessed with her. You have to be
- 43:12Speaker 1: like she puts in the work. My god, she and
- 43:17Speaker 1: She'll just be like, I don't drink. I mean, what
- 43:19Speaker 1: do you mean? I know alcohol is mine, but it's
- 43:24Speaker 1: for me. It's margariteas wine obsessed with red wine obsessed
- 43:29Speaker 1: and then album with huge wine cellar. We only have
- 43:33Speaker 1: four bottles and it there's like six hundred fakes that
- 43:36Speaker 1: we Now I genuinely don't like you. Now I have
- 43:42Speaker 1: a real reason. Well maybe I'll maybe I'll send you
- 43:46Speaker 1: over one of our four Okay, last one. One tip
- 43:51Speaker 1: for creating a sustainable lifestyle. I mean it's so cliche,
- 43:56Speaker 1: but this really is like being the answer, you know what,
- 44:01Speaker 1: It's like, what's the meaning of life? The answer the
- 44:05Speaker 1: right way forward on just about every issue, whether it's politics, love,
- 44:10Speaker 1: health is balance. I mean, oh, coffee is bad for you,
- 44:15Speaker 1: coffee is great for you. Red wine is great for you.
- 44:17Speaker 1: Red wine is bad for you. If you overdo anything,
- 44:21Speaker 1: whether it's vitamin A or vitamin C, or you underdo
- 44:24Speaker 1: anything right. You could drink enough water to kill yourself.
- 44:27Speaker 1: You could drink not enough water, and it's a problem.
- 44:29Speaker 1: Everything in life is balanced. It's not about yes, go
- 44:33Speaker 1: all in, but all in on a lifestyle. I mean,
- 44:35Speaker 1: it's not about like all is in, never gonna have wine,
- 44:39Speaker 1: never gonna have sugar. You know, I'm gonna work out
- 44:42Speaker 1: every day. And it's not abandoning all of it either.
- 44:44Speaker 1: It's just common sense and approaching everything with some perspective
- 44:52Speaker 1: and balance so that it's it's more manageable and it's
- 44:56Speaker 1: more reasonable. And you'll find that with health or anything
- 44:59Speaker 1: else for that matter, the truth or the right way forward,
- 45:03Speaker 1: I won't see the truth, but the right way forward
- 45:04Speaker 1: is usually somewhere in the middle. I agree. Well, I
- 45:09Speaker 1: thank you so much for joining me. I look forward
- 45:11Speaker 1: to futing with you against it. It was a pleasure.
- 45:16Speaker 1: Thanks for listening. To subscribe to Teddy Teapot on I
