- Luis: Hey guys, this is Luis and Joe from the Hold Your Ground podcast. Today we're gonna do a little something different. Today we're gonna be interviewed. So we're recording this on a day and we're gonna drop it into an interview. We're gonna share it with the reporter whose name is A D. Hi A D, how you doing? AD: I'm doing great. Luis: So with that, it's now your podcast. AD: what just like that? Luis: That easy. We're not we're not doing a full intro today 'cause we're just gonna cut and drop this in. AD: Okay, okay, cool. all right. I was not prepared. Okay. okay, so there was there was actually a couple of things I wanted to ask you about. like a couple of core things. I have a vague idea of what I want to ask you, but generally when I do interviews I like them to be more like a conversation anyway. but I I believe like the last time we talked you said that you identified as an anarchist, right? Are you both in? Luis: Yes. joe: Correct. AD: Okay. And then I also I also do want to get into like anti-fascism and what that means. But I want to start with the anarchy aspect first because I'm very curious about that. Because I think when a lot of people hear the word anarchy, they think of like barbed wire and fires. and like crazy mobs and just things like that. But I I would like to know what n one, what it means to you as an individual and what the word anarchy means to you in general, if you understand my question. Luis: I'm gonna defer right now to Joe. joe: Ha ha. AD: Okay. joe: Okay, so like my idea of anarchism is is just a simple idea that I don't need to be led, I don't need to be governed, I'm a full ass grown adult and I can do what's good for me and my community. it seems to me throughout history when we get rulers involved, air quote l rulers, it always ends in the exploitation of the working people, the people who are deemed less than. I believe that's something that we don't fucking need. I don't need the government telling me that you know, I have to fucking I don't that I have I I I d I don't really know how to explain that part right. I don't need the government telling AD: Yeah. joe: me that I don't need the government at all, really, but I really don't need them telling AD: Mm-hmm. joe: me that I'd fucking need to pay them forty percent of my paycheck to fucking go blow up brown kids on the other side of the world for no fucking real reason except we don't like those guys. Luis: Absolutely. to piggyback off of that with Joe, to me, anarchy means freedom, right? So Joe said that he's a full ass adult. Exactly right. This is anarchy, is that we are going to live by the standards that our community decides, right? It's not lawlessness, it is freedom, but the community decides the standards. joe: Yeah, you have a community policing aspect instead of fucking leaving it to the government to send out their little stormtroopers to fucking round you up because you can't afford to pay this bill or that bill or what have you. You know what I mean? I also believe that anarchy and fucking communism are similar in the aspect that like i in true communism, right? A classless, moneyless, stateless society, Anarchy is very similar into that, or my idea of it, being that we as a community set what we deem acceptable or not, and we don't rely on the fucking state. A prime example of something that would be relying on the state that I don't fucking give a shit about. Today is July twenty-third, right? Yesterday there was a vote taken that passed a 1.15 trillion with a T dollar spending bill on the Department of Defense. it merges our military with Israel and passed the fucking Save Act through the House. You know what I mean? I don't I don't need these things. I don't need $1.15 trillion going to defense. It's fucking insane. While we have children on our streets that cannot fucking eat. We have people that are denied medical care because they can't afford it and their insurance deems well, that's probably. Probably a pre-existing condition, so we're not gonna fucking pay for that, right? We fucking we spend more when we have governments, and this is governments around the world throughout history, mind you, when we have these governments, they focus more on fucking up somebody somewhere else than the welfare of the people that they're supposed to be representing. Luis: Absolutely. So I'm I guess basically what we're saying is that anarchy means local community. That you and and freedom, right? They go hand in hand. that we don't need a police force that looks at its citizenry as potential criminals. That if they start thinking of that they're there to defend the community, it's a different mindset. Right? So Anarchist in our experience or and you know if I'm wrong joking tell I'm wrong 'cause he always does. is is locally Because when you think locally and you worry about what's going on within your community and not what's going on over there, you're probably gonna get that change that you wanna see globally. joe: I agree a hundred percent. AD: Okay, so I'm curious then, what do you believe is the purpose of a government? What is a government's function supposed to be? Luis: Okay, so a government's function is to care for the people. A government's function is to build systems which enable its citizenry to flourish and to succeed. What a government does is it's become a private piggy bank for people to take from. Right? as we can see that Jared Kushner got a two billion dollar gift from the Saudi government. that wouldn't happen unless he were in government. joe: Yeah, so that was during Donald Trump's first term where Jar Jared Kushner got two billion dollars as a gift from the Saudis for nothing. It's just a gift, right? And then incidentally, definitely not related through the fucking Trump regime number one. Saudi Arabia took full one hundred percent ownership of Motiva and Port Arthur, Texas, which was the nation's largest largest oil refinery. But they're definitely not related, right? Luis: So we so when we that's why we have five dollar gas. joe: I mean that's to an extent to an extent, right? Luis: It's a reason it's a reason. joe: That's that's that is part of the issue, right? We have so much fucking oil, we produced more oil over the last fucking five years per year than any time in history. Our our problem is the lack of being able to fucking refine it. You know what I mean? And I think a prime example of the government n not taking care of the people and being a personal fucking piggy bank for the elite in charge is that look at the money that we're spending on wild shit. One point one five trillion dollars. on defense and merging a fucking our military with Israel when it's estimated that up to seventy percent of Americans are living paycheck to paycheck and can't can't afford a fucking four hundred dollar emergency on the drop of a on the drop of a hat. That that's wild. Luis: Exactly. You know, my community can do better for my community than my government can, right? Because we know the needs that we have here. A D, I'm sure that your community there knows the needs much better than I do hundreds of thousand or thousands of miles away from you, right? So we need to get to bring it back to locally. And when you think of anarchism, think of these towns that existed in the West before they became American towns. By definition, those are anarchist towns. Those are communities. I mean, they were colonizer anarchist towns, but nonetheless, for sake of argument, they were anarchist towns because they were communities that existed and they decided on what was acceptable there. Right? For example, in my head, murder isn't always against the law. that an an an anarchist views justice Like individually, not with a blanket, right? So right now we have a criminal justice system that gives minimum mandatory sentencing. But not all crimes are the same. Right? Some dude person A might murder person B because he wants his things. Meanwhile, person D might murder person E because she's being sexually trafficked. Right, murder is not the same. AD: Mm-hmm. Luis: So we need to look at things individually. And I think that's the as far as I know, that's our anarchist perspective. But please also remember that anarchists are wide, right? And there is that version of anarchy that's barbed wired fucking fire and a and woo. joe: I mean, but that goes for that goes for any political ideology, right? We see that AD: Mm-hmm. joe: with anti fascism, we see it with communism, we see it with anarchism, we see it with fucking capitalism. That that is literally any political ideology can have that hellfire and fences fucking aesthetic to it. It just depends on what propaganda you're being fed, right? Because currently we're all fed that capitalism is the best way in the world and it's just f unicorns and rainbows, right? How many AD: Mm. joe: people it's always the argument that I hear under communism or under anarchism or whatever, like milli thirty million people were killed. How many people die per year? year under capitalism due to not being able to eat or not being able to afford healthcare. You know what I mean? It's it's all relative in my opinion. AD: So joe: What was that hold what was that face for, Louise? Am I wrong? Luis: No. I was like, Yeah, you know, you're right. Like that there there is a a left, a a middle and a right within any political praxis. It's absolut e even even in the right wing, right? So even in the Nazi party there was a left wing of the Nazi party. How fucking weird is that? But anyway, that's a diff that's a different rabbit hole altogether. AD: So I I okay, first of all I just remember my cat's outside and I need to go check on him because it's a hundred and one degrees outside. But I Luis: Yep. Yeah, go do your thing. joe: my gosh. AD: I did want to say I'll let you cook on this while I go do that real quick. I want to know then what is the difference between a government and then like a local I mean b you're basically describing a community government, like a local government. they have the same function. So what exactly is is the difference and why is there not the same like room for corruption in a local government that you think there is in like a federal in joe: Okay. I love that question. I do too. Do you wanna start it you wanna start answering Luis: I got I got the answer. I was like where joe: it while she's gone? But or do we want to wait for her to come back so that she can hear our thing? Y you know, so Luis: We'll we'll wait for her to come back so we can see where she leads. joe: I would just like to point, I'm not gonna cut this. I'm we're just gonna have a conversation while she's gone. But I would like to point out Luis: okay. joe: I just looked up the stats when I was talking about how many people starve. under capitalism, being that we live in a capitalistic world. and it is approximately nine million people die from hunger per year, right? That's Luis: Yikes. joe: that's dying. That's not just starving, but that's dying. And that's just from hunger. That's not from food contamination, nothing like that. That's just not having access to food. Luis: But that's worldwide too. joe: It is. It is. Doesn't matter though. We're at a different point in the fucking world, in my opinion, than we were fifty years ago or a hundred years ago. We're as much as we wants to bitch about the ooh, the globalism thing, right? Like we I feel like we have to fucking look at that with the With the interaction that the United States has and the impact that we have upon the world. How many places are we fucking sanctioning? How many places are we fucking withholding aid? How many places are we bombing? We literally go around the world and cause huge swaths of shit. That is capitalism in nature. Luis: I mean joe: It cannot it cannot survive without the fucking exploitation of workers and fucking the making of enemies of somebody else. Luis: So yes and no. joe: Yes and no what? Luis: Okay. So you do need some very regulated form of capitalism, in my opinion. Okay? You i does it need to be regulated? Absolutely. In some form of like, you know, planning along with that. But I think that you need it in some form to be able to benefit the others, right? Like, does that make sense? Right? You need to be able you joe: It does make sense. Luis: you need to you need to be able to function foster creativity and innovativeness to create things that people will buy. Cool, fine, no problem with that. You you need to cap salaries on top of that. y a and you need joe: I understand what you're saying. Luis: to tax them to create the programs to fund the programs that will benefit and raise up everybody else. joe: I understand that, yes. What I'm talking about is our current structure of capitalism in which we live does not do that. And that's what we need to Luis: At all. joe: take into account. That while we're fed that this, what we're doing right now is the best, this is the only way, this is the fucking way. Millions upon millions upon millions of people worldwide are dying every single year from lack of access to food, lack of access to clean food or water. fucking and various other ailments that are directly related to capitalism and capital. So while we're seeing that's it. That's Luis: And that's because we have no anarchist fucking praxis within our political fucking wheelhouse. joe: I I agree with you, right? And that's where I'm saying in our current structure that fuck of capitalism in our current in our current state of capitalism it cannot exist without exploitation of people and demonization of others. Luis: Okay, so A D, so now that you are back, I hope your cat's okay and everything like that. I'm sorry that it's so damn hot where you are. AD: he's fine. Luis: so in answer to your question, for me, yes, is is is it government, government, is it is it the same function, same word? Yes. I guess intent is different, right? Now I believe while communism is an admirable political praxis, I am not a communist. I'm staunchly opposed to it, okay? Because how I've seen it practiced within humankind. I believe for communism to function as it is intended to, people need to be 51% good. Unfortunately, people are just 51% bad. Okay? So so there's that. So in any form of government is there going to be some sort of greed? Yes. Now The difference with it locally is the importance, right? Because people give a shit about where they live. Right? People care about their towns. So generally if people are in charge of their communities, they're generally going to try and do right by them because they have to live there. Is my opinion. Now I could t be totally wrong. But we've seen anarchist towns exist from Roho Rojova to in the middle in the heartland of Mexico in the Zapatistas. So we've seen these types of councils exist and how they do flourish and work for people. It's not theory that we're trying to promote here. joe: Yeah, so I think you asked what's the difference. And the difference that I would say is the source of power of a community-led fucking government type entity, the reach that they can have and the scale of their operation, right? I'm not gonna fucking if I have my own little local prime example, my city council in the town that I live isn't gonna tell you in Texas from Oregon, what you need to be fucking doing. AD: Mm. joe: You know what I mean? I'm not going to be affecting your life in really any fucking way, negatively or positively, for that matter, right? Because we're focused on what's happening right fucking here. I think also you can I think something that needs to happen with a community led type fucking government situation would be the decision the decision making structure needs to change from what we have now. Right? So we we look at it now, we have what people would argue is a community led fucking government in Congress, right? 'Cause they'd be like, well we vote for our fucking we vote for our congressman and this, that and the other. But here's the problem. Is that you're voting in one person or you know, a few people for however many people your state has, and then they go to fucking quote unquote represent you, right? But the issue with that is for that person to be elected, have you ever seen how much it costs for somebody to run for Congress successfully? It's millions of dollars. Who the fuck's doing that? I'm not doing it. I'm not gonna fucking be able to pay millions of dollars to try to represent my fucking my people. It's not happening, right? So what we've seen is that the current government structure which we have, it all boils down to fucking dollars. And we see how many of these congressmen, how many of these senators, how many of these presidential candidates are backed from foreign dollars. You know, and when I say foreign, I mean things like APAC. AD: So joe: Generally how many people are paid by fucking Israel? Sorry. AD: so we like well, like you kind of said, you were talking about how you use like Western towns and in the the Wild West as an example. But I mean when we think about what actually happened in those towns, the w like there was still kind of racism, sexism. There was no nobody to guarantee that people had rights. There was an example in Virginia that Thomas Jefferson wrote about in some exchanges with James Madison when he was trying to convince him to write the Bill of Rights that the like Southern Virginia legislature had tried to make like a religion part of their government. and that's was part of the argument why they they needed to have a constitution to outline people's rights, like it need to be added to the constitution. So I like I you have said to before when we have talked that you know that your ideal like your your anarchist ideal is not realistic. but how what is your answer for the actual practical complications of that? Luis: W w well, first of all for myself I'm a secessionist as well. Okay, so I don't believe in a big super country. I don't believe that countries should exist for thousands of miles. I I I think that when that happens you get the system that you have now, right? So I'm a secessionist. First and foremost. joe: So alright, I I I'll I'll jump in on this, right? So you said what are the practical answers to this? I would say that under a community-led government you don't have the fucking power and force that we currently have, right? So like you have an actual chance to fight back and be like, nah, fuck this. I'm not doing this shit, right? 'Cause yeah, cool, we have the constitution, right? How how well is that followed? Currently. Right. And if you wanna fucking step up against it, there's stormtroopers all around the fucking country who are executing people in the streets for voicing their opposition to it, which is also a right guaranteed under that constitution. So there's kind of the fucking issue that I run into with having this mega ass country, as Luis put it. you know, we we have a constitution that's supposed to say what our rights are, but it's not followed at all. Be if you can be ac if you have the right to bear arms, but you can be executed by the state because you simply have a firearm on you? Do you really have the right to bear arms? You have the right to fucking free speech, right? That First Amendment, the right to free speech, free assembly, to r you know redresses of government. Yada yada yada. Do you really have that if you go to a protest and are voicing your opinion and can be executed with no repercussion? No. You don't. You know what I mean? Luis: And on top of that, that the Constitution, while it's a lovely piece of paper, it's not inclusive for everyone. It's inclusive for people joe: It's not. Luis: with your guys' lack of melatonin. It's not inclusive. Again, do you see how she she ha joe: Melanin, you fucking jackass. Melat melatonin. Melatonin is a fucking, it's a chemical that puts you to sleep. Luis: I wanna see this is a prime example you guys of whites. Look at them. Look at how they are ganging up on me, right? Because let's not for let's let's not forget the famous quote. First joe: First off, A D didn't say first off, A D didn't say anything. I called you a jackass. Luis: of all, let's not forget the famous quote that if you mispronounce a word, you probably learned it from reading. That's right. I said that, yeah. joe: What the fuck are you talking about? AD: Yeah, but you didn't mispronounce that word, you just said the completely wrong word. joe: Yeah. Luis: So now so we're just gonna fucking knowledge shame me now. That's cool. joe: You know what? You know what? Let me let me fucking let me chill this whole entire thing out with an optimistic revolutionary quote from Chigueira. Luis: Yeah, please. He likes to eat tacos. no, like like like so I'm a leftist, right? So here like like am I am I is my anarchist dream of being left the fuck alone ever gonna happen? No, right? There's lots of things to work out. So for example, do I think that there should be fucking open borders and no borders? Absolutely yes. I'm indigenous to this land. Is that a reality? No. So therefore, rather than wasting my time fighting a fight that's not gonna materialize in my way. Okay? I'm gonna fight a fight that gets as many fucking wetbacks across as I possibly can. Okay? And I can use language like that and y'all can't, so suck it. But anyway, and I'm not even a wetback because my grandma came under a fence. We're scratchbacks, as my grandma used to say. joe: Ha ha ha. Luis: She did, bro. Fucking joe: Word. Luis: Okay? So like that's what we mean that we wanna work for policies that are within our wheelhouse and our praxis but that that are real. Does that make sense? Like we're gonna have a border. So let's get as many people across as possible. Let's make it as free as as we possibly can, knowing that the way that I ultimately wanted to isn't going to happen unless by force, unless we become fascist ourselves, which we refuse to be. joe: I would say I saw a little bit of pushback there with the border thing and be not have it be let's get as many people in as we can, because not everybody wants to fucking come here. What I would say is make it more accessi or make it accessible to people who do want to fucking come here, especially when the United States has made it the reason they want to come here is because the United States is is exploiting them in their own fucking land and making it unlivable. You know what I mean? We need to stop that shit too. Right. Obviously, but that's what I'm saying to You do. Luis: Absolutely, but to do that, but to do that you have to s educate the populat, right? Because fascism only rises when you have an uneducated fucking electoral group. Right? When you have an uneducated group of electors, that's when fascism rises. So we have a group of electors right now that don't understand their own country's history of creating these refugees that they call immigrants that they don't want. But they are ultimately responsible for, right? If we educate then they would see that they're responsible and maybe take compassion. I don't know. joe: So it's fucking I think it comes down to a lack of a of a world view, right? And lack of knowing anybody outside of your own personal circle. There's a person here where I live at that I met that is forty years old. And she has been out of this county. Now, mind you, this county is fucking small. This entire county here has about fifty-five thousand people in it where I live. She's been outside of this county, mind you, not outside of Oregon, outside of the county twice in her life. Two fucking times in her forty years of life. She's never left the state of Luis: That's actually pretty that's pretty normal though. joe: She's never left the state of Yeah, she's never left the state of Oregon. And she's left this county twice. It's not normal though for where we live at, Luis, because to do anything here, to go to fucking Costco or the Home Depot, you have to leave the county. Luis: But wait, what I'm saying is you're right. In the United States that's normal. Not normal, but in the world? That's pretty fucking joe: Yeah. Luis: normal, bro. Like people fucking like because of of their poverty level or whatever, people don't really tend to travel forty, fifty miles. Most people even in America live within a hundred miles. You and I are fucking odd, being that we were born thousands of miles from where we reside. Most people born are born and live within a hundred miles that they were born. Yeah. joe: I get that, right? But where I'm going at with that is that when that happens, you have no world view at all. You don't even have a fucking view of the country. So when you get dipshits like Donald Trump and fucking Pete Hegseth and all these fucking idiots that are screaming from the top of their lungs that they're letting in murders and rapists. That's what's happening. Bad ombre's. You believe it because you've met exactly fucking point three of a Mexican person before. You know what I mean? When you fucking Luis: But but but what I'm saying is that's just as true in the Latino community though, dude, right? Like my primos, bro. I'm not gonna say what county they come from, but they come from some shit little county in California and they go from that little town to fucking the mission district in San Francisco and back. And that is their world view. They have never been on a plane. joe: Cool. The so here's the thing, the mission district in San Francisco, that district has more people than this entire fucking county and more diversity. What is it over here? It's like fucking I think like one percent Latino and like point four percent other nat other ethnicities that aren't fucking widows, dude. Luis: I I I get what you're saying, but I'm just saying that that same thing exists, right? Because like the mission district may be fucking now It may be multicultural and now it's becoming an Asian district, right? Because so the way the mission has worked was back in the fifties and forties, it was an Irish district. Then the Latinos moved in about the forties and fifties, it became heavily Latino, and now it's a now the Latinos are moving out to the suburbs and the Asians are taking over, right? Because that's how fucking things work. But my point is, is that that small narrow-mindedness isn't just a white people thing. It's in ours. Like I've met fucking black Black dudes in Compton that won't go to the beach at Santa Monica because they're like that's a white people thing. joe: Yeah, word. Like I get that, right? And I'm not saying that it's just a white people fucking thing. I'm saying that that's something that narrow because how many people do we see that are fucking Mexican or black or fucking Asian that are also fucking on board with this fascist fucking bullshit? There's plenty, right? But then again, you also have even if somebody's not leaving their little specific area, if they are part of a marginalized community. There's a history there with their family telling them the fucking, you know, telling them stories from throughout their family's history. So they're not raised in the same way that some fucking white person is in small bum fuck nowhere that's saying, we're the fucking best and we need to fucking make sure that these others don't come and take over us. Right? That's how replacement theory fucking goes. Straight up. We're the best. These people are gonna try to come in and take what's fucking ours. And people are too fucking stupid to fucking look outside Luis: Mm-hmm. joe: of their own fucking propaganda that they've learned throughout their lives. Luis: But that same stupid mentality you can find in community of colors too. That's all I'm saying, right? That same right, that's why like black and Latinos don't get along, right? Because of that same stupid mentality, right? Like in Chicanos you hear all the time La Rasa. Right? That's like to me, I'm against all nationalism. Brown, black, white. Can we say yellow? Asian? I'm against all nationalism. What bro? I'm just I'm against I mean I'm against it all, dude. joe: Nothing. Fucking Yeah, but La Raza isn't fucking nationalism, man. Luis: The race. joe: The people. The people is real like so that's that's the that's the meaning of it. It's not really. I know it doesn't mean people, but that's the Luis: La raza. Rasa doesn't la ra no la no raza doesn't la raza doesn't mean people. La gente it means joe: fucking meaning behind it. It's the fucking the people. Mexican is not a race. Latino is not a fucking race. Luis: Mm-mm. Uh-uh. No. No. joe: No. La Raza means the fucking people, right? I know that's not the direct translation, but I mean I've been fucking told by fucking numerous fucking people that I'm part of La Raza for the fucking shit that I've Luis: Yeah, absolutely. Yeah. joe: done throughout my life and living in the fucking barrio, growing up in the fucking neighborhood and shit, you know? I know, but that's what I'm saying. I'm not part of the race, right? I'm a fucking Sicilian. I'm not a fucking Mexican. Luis: I call you an Oreo, dude. But but that's why I'm saying that we should change it to La Gente, the people. Right? Because La Rasa, there are those that that that fucking that that use that term wrongly. And I'm just gonna say maybe I I don't know, I don't want to catch any heat from any groups, right? But I do see that our white interviewers joe: Yeah, don't fucking Luis: doing this. So I think we gotta stop having this joe: Ha ha ha. Luis: and go back to them. So A D, sorry joe: Sorry, Andy. Luis: A D. joe: Y as you can see, AD: It's okay. joe: this is how like most of our days goes me and him arguing with each other like this. AD: It's okay. I I also I do that with my partner most of the time. Like any time that we're not doing something else pretty much. Luis: I would like to say that Joe is my podcast partner, okay? Podcast partner. That's that joe: We don't fuck. AD: well, I I didn't mean to insinuate that, but you know, do your own thing. I'm I'm not here to judge. joe: Yeah. Not that there's anything Luis: I don't like I joe: wrong with it. We just don't. Yeah. All right. So sorry, A D, let's get Luis: don't like big and hairy. Yeah, we it it joe: back to it. I apologies. AD: Also, I I will let you know it's just like the weird way that I drink water. I wasn't I wasn't going on purpose. joe: Ha ha. Luis: You're fine. No. No, but it's good to get back on point. Sorry. but yes. AD: I was looking for a window. because that that was your basically your whole kind of argument boils down to people don't agree on stuff. and I think that That the for one one of the big issues about an Antifa, anti fascist right now is that people don't agree on what that means. So I am very curious what when you say that you are anti fascist, one I kind of know the answer to this already because I I'm working on a video about it, but one, what is is there a difference between anti fascist and antifa? And then two, what do they mean? joe: You wanna take it or you want me to take it? All right. Luis: I'll take it. It's my philosophy I created. Damn, dude. Fuck it. joe: All right, go for it. Luis: Fuck, dude. I'm not sitting here in my mom's basement cracking it out for no reason, dude. Okay, so anti-f so this is gonna be kind of a long-winded answer, so bear with me here, okay? So anti-fascism started as a response to fascism, okay? And Anti-fascism is represented by these three arrows, the iron front, which represent no communism, no monarchy, no fascism, in its most basic sense. Okay? Now, there are those in so being anti-fascist has it it it's a very fucking defined set of beliefs. Okay, now the an to answer to your question, is there a difference between being Antifa and anti fascists? And I would say that in two thousand and twenty-six in the United States, there absolutely is. Okay? Those that call themselves Antifa either knowingly or unknowingly are cosplayers. Okay? Because AD: Mm. Luis: anyone who knows anything knows that that term is is is a term that could be dangerous to you. Right? and anti fascism is to you y you blend. So these kids that are running around in 2026 for the most part that are saying that they're Antifa have Just seen it in the videos, and that's cool, but they don't read the books. They don't get the it it's like they scratch the surface, right? Because what happened was in 2020, the streets were so flooded. Let me be clear: anti-fascists have been out in the streets forever. Okay? And anti-fascists were out in the streets during Trump won in my town. We were battling these fuckers since day one. Okay. And we weren't getting a lot of love. And then what happened was fucking 2020, COVID happened. Everyone thought they were gonna die. And then fucking these white people that were stuck at home that thought they were gonna die fucking decided to use black people again for their own means and decided to do Black Lives Matter so they hit the streets. Because there was a Vogue, teen Vogue article in 2020 entitled What to Wear to the Protestant describing how to wear a black block, okay? So a lot of people came out and they were in block and they heard the slogans and that was it. If you think that anti-fascist work is just being in the streets, you've got your head up your ass. That is about 5% of anti-fascist work. Anti-fascist work is doing gross stuff. It is raising money for people. It is taking food to people. It is doing the hard things, being there when people are having mental breakdowns and finding resources for them. It is going. joe: Not even just the hard things, dude. Like fucking as simple as sorry to interrupt you. As simple as sitting there and having a conversation with an unhoused person and making them fucking feel like they're a human being, treating people like they're human fucking beings. Sorry Luis, I didn't mean to inter interrupt your your go there. Luis: No, you're right. No, you you you me, dude. You go anytime you want to go. You're absolutely right. So we don't understand in the United States what it is to be anti-fascist. You have Democrats using that term. You have people being in the United States being like, My grandpa was anti-fascist because he went and fought the fucking Nazis. No, your grandpa wasn't anti fascist. Okay? Because your grandpa probably served in an all white unit. Your grandpa came home to an all white country, your grandpa came home to segregated fucking bathrooms, buses, restaurants, schools, hospitals, everything else. Your grandpa couldn't marry a black woman. Okay, so no, these so we don't understand what anti fascism is. Right? People call align themselves as communists and call themselves anti fascists. And that to me is as ridiculous as fucking a Democrat or a liberal doing it. Because see, I belong to a tradition of anti fascism that comes way before me with names like Nestor Machnode. And will continue on long after I'm gone, right? A lot of people view this anti fascism as a flash in the pan because they came to us in 2020 and then when the election of Joe Biden they fucking left the streets. That's not anti fascist because a Biden regime is just as neo fascist as a Trump regime. joe: I mean a prime example of that was I'll say the last presidential election that we had when you know vice president Harris took over in running for president. Everybody asked, I watched it happen today. I was fucking I was scrolling on the TikToks and I heard somebody yelling about what happened to the twenty million votes if the twenty twenty election wasn't stolen. What happened to those extra twenty million votes? they didn't fucking vote and they didn't do so because the Democratic Party showed once again that they're not really concerned with the fucking people. They want to further the fascist state. I remember specifically watching at a Kamala Harris rally, somebody asking her what her plan was And to come out with a hardline fucking statement against Israel in support of fucking Palestine being a free state, basically saying, Yes, you're committing a fucking genocide and her response was, Do you wanna argue about things that don't matter or do you wanna win? Luis: On top of that Anti fascism means community defense. So that means the ability to use and willingness to use violence against our political enemies. Because you see, our political enemies want to harm us. And if you don't think that, then let me ask you this what would the anti fascists say about the state of current anti fascism? They say they they joe: Cool, so we're all getting raided from the fucking feds here. after this episode drops. It'll be awesome. I would like no, Luis: But but but no, like seriously. joe: I I would take it a step further back from community defense. And I would say that anti fascism means community, right? And community is something that so many Americans do not understand. We've lost it. The if I I mean look at through I don't know how old you are, AD, it that doesn't matter. I'll say throughout my life, throughout my childhood. It's Yeah. It's it's it's been, you know, rose colored glasses towards being that rugged, tough individualist. Fucking John Wayne, fucking whatever what the what's that fucking guy's name? The racist dickhead that makes the fucking Western movies. Fucking god damn it, dude. I can't believe that's escaping me right now. Clint Eastwood. Shit like that, right? Being that rugged fucking tough guy individualist. I mean, for Christ's sake, even on the not being rugged side of it, look at things like fucking Seinfeld. or friends or whatever, like, I've lived next door to this person for ten years and we've never fucking met before. You know what I mean? Like we've lost the fucking aspect of community and it's been it's been glorified to not have it. Luis: On top of that, the one thing I will say, these arrows represent violence because fascism is violence. Those very ideas that the fascists use and want to implement will wipe us off the face of the earth. joe: I get what you're saying. Here's what I'm gonna say this shit once again. I've I've talked about it before though, right? And I get what you're saying right now, Luis, right? But we have to think about fucking media fucking literacy and fucking operational security. When you come out and just say shit like that and you fucking are putting it on the internet, it's not a fucking smart thing. How how much of this fight can you have when a fucking cop kicks in your door and shoots you in the fucking face? None. Right? We need to be smart about the language that we use. That's going fucking public. And what I will say too, like I get it, like, right? All these fuck we think all these fucking Dems are fucking, you know, cunts. We think all these fucking conservatives are cunts, right? Not everybody is born having that fucking leftist praxis, right? It just it doesn't fucking happen. That's the entire thing of propagandizing Luis: Nobody does. Yeah. joe: fucking United States. So if we wanna actually get people on fucking board who are maybe teetering on that fucking democratic side to like, this is pretty fucked up, right? Like I don't know. No, but they don't have that education, shit like that pushes them away from it. Right? I'm just saying I'm not trying I'm not trying to like get on you, I'm just saying though. You know what I mean? It's fucking Luis: No, you're right. Like like no no you're right. And I think that like we also while it means that, it means other things too, right? Again, like that like what I said earlier with my soliloquy that like what street work is five to ten percent of what we do. joe: Word. So I think I think at the end of the day, some things are better inferred by somebody than having it outright be told to them. Right? Like I'm not gonna fucking sit up here and advocate for violence at all. Right? I'm not going to. Luis: No. joe: But if you fucking if you if you push me to the point of defending myself, I absolutely fucking will. You know what I mean? I'm not gonna go fucking Luis: Next question. joe: caught yeah, there we go. We'll we'll end it there. Sorry. Luis: Next question. AD: Well I think I think perhaps a better way to word that would just would just be to say defense because I don't think I think the connotation is that violence is an offensive act. whereas I think defense includes violence. That's just my personal opinion. Anyway, sh shoot, now I lost my train of thought. Luis: Let me see those curly whites, Joe. Let me see joe: I don't have pearly whites, my mouth's all fucked up, dude. AD: Shoot, now I I lost like where I was even going. I don't even what was the last question that I asked? I don't remember. Luis: What's the difference between Antifa and anti fascist? joe: Yeah, we get we end up on fucking tangents, AD. I apologize. And this is especially in a conversational style interview. Like we tell you feel free at any time just be like, shut the fuck up. We need to talk about this. AD: It's okay. It's a I like part of the reason why I prefer conversation style interviews is because sometimes like you just you just say things that are helpful anyway. So sometimes it's it's useful to just let you go. Luis: See, and I you I forget, Joe, that we're being interviewed. This is this is my persona AD: Okay. Luis: for me being interviewed, right? This isn't my persona on my own podcast. I forget, bro. I'm kinda AD: Also, if you Luis: Right. AD: haven't if you haven't noticed yet, I have like raging ADHD, so I joe: All good. AD: I totally get tangents. Luis: I don't even know what that is. I'm just playing like fucking. Anyway next next question, you and back. AD: Okay, so the the last thing I asked you was about the difference between Antifa and anti fascism. So what exactly what exactly do you have to say to like the people who are just saying like they they interpret anti fascist literally as in like I oppose fascists and so they like refer to themselves as anti fascists. Like, do you think like, hey, you you don't belong in this club? Like, I mean, are you okay with gatekeeping it? Or do you think that it's better to like try to educate people and get more people on board? joe: So as I was just I'm taking Luis: Yes. joe: this one, I think that There has to be a certain level of gatekeeping, right? Otherwise you lose all meaning of what being an anti-fascist is. But education is definitely key, right? People definitely that you know that want to learn and be educated, by all means, yes, absolutely. And you may get there, but straight up, like if you're saying that you're an anti-fascist and then openly supporting the Democratic Party here in the United States, you're not an anti-fascist, right? It's a fun thing to say. But it doesn't make it fucking true. That's like saying I'm a fucking teletubby. I mean it's clear that I'm not, but I I l I'd I'd like to be, right? Like it doesn't fucking make any fucking sense. if I could get like one of those snorks off my head and shit like that, maybe I would be a teletubby, but I'm not right now. Right? Luis: You'd be a snork then. joe: Whatever, dude. I said I didn't say it. Fuck you. AD: Yeah. joe: but no, it it is on a serious note though, like I I think that yes, there needs to be a certain amount of gatekeeping. Same thing with fucking anything really, because words have meaning and when they're used for things that aren't them, they lose their fucking meaning. They lose their power. Right? Luis: Absolutely. joe: And we watch that happen with a bunch of people like, I'm anti I'm anti-fascist, I'm antifa, come check out my No Kings rally. where I have this fucking parade and I don't really do anything, right? And then as soon as I get my way with a Democrat, it doesn't matter 'cause really at the end of the day, like, I'm a fucking blue MAGA person that just vote blue no matter who. And if a Democrat's in power, everything's fine and fucking dandy. Luis: We saw that with the election of Biden, how instantly the streets stopped for the most part. But joe: Just fucking stopped. Luis: in answer to your question, I agree one hundred percent with Joe. the answer to your question is yes, right? That there needs to be education and gatekeeping to keep us safe. Now, the gatekeeping needs to be by people that know what's up. Let's just put it that way, right? joe: Yeah, right. Luis: but yeah, both. joe: So one of the things I will say like to that question that I used to I used to tell people once upon a time and I I I'm not really about it anymore, you know what I mean? But when it came where they asked me if I supported the Democrats, I'd be like, No, right? But I am voting for a Democrat as a form of harm reduction. And I I think that I was wrong in doing that. So anybody fucking that I've told that to in the past, I apologize. Right? because we're watching the way that I used to explain it is that with the MAGA shit we have full the full subscription of fascism. And with the Democrats, we have fascism light. Right? And it's easier to fight towards a better future. with the light version than it is the premium version and I've been proven wrong with that. because at the end of the day, let me just finish this off real quick, Louise. I see you putting your hand up. But at the end of the day, they don't fucking care. And they have no they have no want or need or desire to work with us. They just like to talk the piece to grab your fucking vote and say, no yeah, we'll definitely talk about this later. But then when that later comes, like, yeah, fuck you. I never said that. Luis: On to piggyback off of what Joe said there, exactly. So If you're so you have these people that run around and they say, I'm anti-fascist, I'm an ally, I'm an accomplice. Okay? And they want to let marginalized communities know this. And the thing is, if you are these things, you don't have to promote yourself with these things. Right? That's a lot like Donald Trump saying, I'm very smart. Okay. So because if you're telling me these things, how you're an ally, how you're an accomplice, how you're an anti fascist, my mind goes to instantly, you're full of shit. Because AD: It's performative. Luis: it's performative, because as Joe has pointed out, excuse me, as Joe has pointed out countless and countless of times, those people that are these things. Do not have to announce them. The community knows who's safe and who to go to. The community knows who their accomplices and who their allies are. The streets don't lie. So if you're out there and you're saying these things, then I hope you have a resume because one day you'll meet someone like myself or Joe that's gonna be like, hey, where's your resume at? Because we have lost friends' lives. We have lost people that we love to this fight. We have lost people that we will never see again until the next life in this fight. There is not one person I know, AD, who does not have missing loved ones directly related to this fight. Because this fight is much older than two years or ten years. joe: Yeah. I had my homie fucking got fucking smoked in this fight in fucking ninety-four. Right? And that it's gone back older than that too, right? Like way older than that. But what I'm saying, like everybody focuses on what's happening right now. I mean, this is America. It's been this way for a long fucking time. Has it escalated? Yeah. But I won't even say that like I won't say that the issues have escalated, I'll say that the perception of them have escalated because like what we've seen happen with Donald Trump is instead of being behind the shadows, this shit has boiled over into fucking suburban fucking white America and that's why people are so pissed. They're finally seeing it happening in their own community instead of just, this is fucking somewhere far away and I don't really have to think about those people. Luis: Yep. Next question. joe: Ha ha. AD: okay, I'm thinking. trying to I'm trying to like figure out where exactly I I'm like trying to go. Luis: It's okay. I I I would say w 'cause we're you're on a time frame yourself too and everything. We c probably got like ten minutes or so. This is a good hour interview. On top of AD: Okay. Okay. Luis: with it top of with the half hour of other running crap that we'll record with this. AD: All right. let me Okay, let me try to wrap this up. Okay, there we go. My brain just started working again. The so how do you Luis: Arrows. AD: there's there's there are a couple of of things that like people could easily say to like argue with with your stance. One is like that you know, if you only have a small group of people doing something, if you exclude people, it's going to be a lot harder to get anything done. But at the same time, if you have people taking like, you know, mass violence on the streets, you are going to have the bad kind of anarchy. Like you're going to have chaos. Innocent people are going to get hurt. And it's going to take time for us to recover after that. Don't make that face at me. joe: Who's making faces, Luis or me? I have I Luis: Yeah, yeah. AD: Mm-hmm. joe: have I have Tourette's so like I do weird shit. I have these weird ticks and move my face weird. It's not at you. But yeah. AD: okay. I was I was talking about Lisa. joe: You said it was me. Fuck you, Louise. Luis: Go ahead. Go ahead. AD: that see now I lost I lost my train of thought. joe: That's AD: But did you actually did you have something to say in response to that? Luis: So joe: Sure. Luis: look, can I take this one for a minute? joe: Yeah, go ahead. Luis: Thank you, sir. So if I get your question right, that you know there are p Political violence has always been part of the American landscape. Between the years of nineteen sixty-nine and nineteen seventy-two, there were three a thousand acts of political violence a year. And a p an act of political violence in those days was considered a bombing. So three times a day for a three year period across this country, things were blowing up. I would also say that the Boston Tea Party is economic violence. That this government has never given anything by just organizing and being peaceful. Because they're bent on keeping everything. So again, it goes back to the earlier thing. and that's why I'm gonna shut up now because I gotta be media savvy and This part will get edited out 'cause I'm not media savvy. So this is where Joe, what do you think about this subject? joe: Okay. so you said, you know, by excluding people or not just letting everybody in, it it lessens the fight. My argument would be if you're fighting for the wrong things, you're not part of the fight that I wanna have. Right? Like so, okay, cool, you're fighting to get rid of the regime and fucking go back to what we had under Joe Biden or Obama. Which was still fucked. And the problem that we have with that i like Luis was saying a little bit ago there, where we saw after Joe Biden got into office is that everybody just bailed. Now all all of a sudden there's a Democrat in o office, everything's great. Except it wasn't, right? Might have been better for you personally, but that it doesn't make it the case for black people, for brown people, for fucking Asian people. It d it didn't make it fucking better. It didn't make it better for the fucking poor. You know, and when I say the poor, I don't mean the people who are getting by. I mean the fucking poverty stricken fucking living on the streets fucking poor. It yeah, no. So like we're not in the same fucking fight because at the end of the day, one of the things that I always say is I am here for the complete destruction of white supremacy, and that is not a fucking partisan issue. Luis: And that's how to joe: So Luis: answer that question with media savvy. joe: word, right? And honestly, like I I there's another saying that I always use where if there are three Nazis at a table and you go sit down with them and break bread, there are four Nazis at that fucking table. AD: Mm. joe: So all these people that want to have it be like, well it's not that bad. So let's fucking we'll deal with this part of this later. Let's just let's get in power now. Like that's not how that fucking works, man. And it's been proven time and time again, where the Democratic Party will fill you with all sorts of bullshit and yeah, no, this is something that we can definitely work towards when they have no intention of doing so. Prime example, once again, I'll go back to the bill that was passed yesterday. One point one five trillion dollars. Merging our fucking military and intelligence with Israel. That bill also had the Save Act in it. It wasn't just Republicans that passed that bill. Democrats voted for it as well. So that was a bipartisanly passed fucking bill. That to me is no good. I don't have a fight. Luis: And I think on joe: on the same side of the people who fucking passed that bill. Luis: I think that's a good place to to wrap it up. We're at like a hour or two minutes. I wanna AD: Well, I did so that had that question was two parts. I just wanted to give you because you Luis: okay. AD: like had a reaction to the first part, I wanted to give you the opportunity to say something. Luis: no, no word. AD: but my what I what I was getting to is that people will say like, I for example, like I have a family, I can't you know, I can't risk my life, my job or whatever to be able to do this because like my kids did not make that decision. Like my or like my wife depends on me or whatever. People have responsibilities. They may have certain reasons why they feel like they can't take the fight to certain extremes. And then that kind of that kind of leads me into how do you function in a system that is so antithetical to your beliefs? joe: Can I go again here real quick? So, alright. Luis: No. joe: Fuck you. AD: Mm. joe: so I get it. I have a family. Right? And when I'm saying fight, I don't mean going out and literally fucking throwing putasos with some fool in the street. You know what I mean? I'm I'm saying resisting the fucking regime in place. And yeah, I get it, right? It's scary with a family. I do have a family. I get it. Right. That actually makes me want to fight harder against this shit. Because if we look throughout history, there's a poem, right? That came out around that World War Two time. First they came for you know, first they came for the communists and I didn't speak up 'cause I'm I'm not a communist and they came for the socialists. I didn't speak up because I'm not a socialist. Then they came for fucking AD: And then they came for me. joe: Yeah, right? They came for the union workers. I didn't speak up because I'm not a union worker. Then they came for me. Nobody else was left to fucking stick up for me. That's exactly how I view this shit, right? Like so Cool. You got a family, so you're gonna bury your head in the sand. You're just putting this off to your kids generation for this fucking fight, if it makes it that far, right? Because eventually they will come for you and yours. It doesn't matter if you're on their side or not. Right? They are gonna come for you. So that to me makes me wanna stand up and fight fucking harder to ensure that number one, my kid has to deal with as little of this shit as possible as she fucking grows up. It it I mean it just it it makes sense to me. I'm sorry, I kinda lost my train of thought there for a second 'cause that shit it irritates the fuck out of me with people, there's nothing I can do. There is absolutely things you can do. Like we said earlier, being anti fascist is a huge fucking there's a huge umbrella of shit that you can do. That's not gonna Luis: Yeah. joe: be like, this, that, and the other. Like I said, simply going and fucking having a conversation with a homeless person, making people feel like they're human beings, being kind, helping your fucking neighbor. Prime example, so I was in Belfast in the north of Ireland a couple weeks ago, right? I had an incident there that will stick with me forever. And I guarantee you 100% that the people who are involved in it that live there will never fucking think about it again because it's just a normal part of life over there to be community-minded. It wasn't a fucking thing that sticks out to them. But as an American, with this rugged individualistic mindset that Americans have, this shit sticks out to me. I was fucking I left a concert and I was walking back to the car, right, with my family. Our car was parked about a mile and a half away. We're walking we're walking back and I go, Well, let's take this park. We came through the park. Let's go back through the park 'cause I don't know Belfast and I know this route 'cause we took it, right? Well, in the UK, they lock fucking parks at night. Right. So we walk in, no problem. We walk about a mile through this park. The other side, the gate was locked. We couldn't get out. And I was like, fuck, we're locked in the park. Let's walk back to the other side and see if maybe that one's still open. There was cops over on that side because there was like twenty thousand people that took over a fucking street, right? Just walking down the street leaving this concert. Street was basically shut down. So maybe the cops were still maybe we can still get out of this fucking park, right? And so we're walking back and a couple is walking towards us and they go, hey, it's locked. And they go, yeah, that's all right. We live across the street. I'll call our son. He'll come over with a ladder. Come with us. And then we decided we we proceeded to have a conversation, a fun conversation about this, that, and the other, just life, where we're from, fucking yada yada yada. We walked over, hung out with them for a minute and talked, you know, I mean their kid comes running across the street with a fucking ladder and one by one we all went this fence with a ladder. That's not shit that you see happen widespread here in the United States. Like I've literally been in a situation similar, not where I was trying to leave a locked park with a ladder. You know what I mean? But we're like, okay, cool. I found out this is fucked up. I'm walking back, hey, this is fucked up and they're like, Yeah, okay, cool. Don't say anything. They continue on because they already have their solution to it, right? But they don't want me to be a part of their fucking solution because fuck that. You go figure out your own shit. I'm gonna go fucking be okay doing this. You figure it out over here, you fucking dork. Luis: Yeah, so I'm gonna agree with Joe one million percent. People that say that They're just looking to waste my time. They're just looking for me to say, it's okay. You can do what you need to do. No, the tent is fucking huge. Find a place, get in. You don't have to do what I do, but you gotta do something. And it's not just plotitudes and words. And if you continue to partake in a fucking broken system when it crushes you, you have no excuse. joe: Yep. Sorry for the fucking tirade and lead into a story that ended way longer than it needed to be. Luis: That's why we have editors. joe: Yeah, me, motherfucker. AD: That is okay. But I just wanna make sure that I get a complete answer to my like the final part of my question, which is like h functioning in a society like as like you as an anarchist, as like people who identify as anti fascist, how do you get anything done? How like I mean, do you vote? like joe: So I think that AD: beyond what you've already mentioned. joe: I think it it goes back to kinda how I mean I've mentioned voting, I've mentioned all sorts of shit, right? But I think it kinda goes back to how or to what we were saying earlier where I know that my ideal world is never gonna fucking happen. So what I try to focus on instead is fighting for the working class people of, you know, my community and fucking making sure that they're as alright as can be. And I do so through direct action, whether that's fucking feeding people, whether that's showing up for whether that's an ear They can call me at there's numerous people I've told you can call me at three o'clock in the morning. I don't give a fuck, right? And I don't think that voting is all completely lost, right? I think in presidential elections and fucking senatorial and congressional elections and shit like that, when you're fucking voting with a two-party system, yeah, it's pretty fucked, right? But I think that on a fucking local community level, voting for fucking different initiatives in your own fucking s in your own city, in your own community, where okay, cool, I can vote for, you know, whether We should, you know, raise taxes locally to fucking maintain a water tank, even though the water tank's brand new and it's not going to fucking be maintained from this monies. It's gonna go to some asshole's pocket, right? It's we we have a lot of local initiatives, and the fucked up thing is that everybody shows up. I think that people take voting backwards, right? They sh everybody shows up for the presidential election. And I don't mean everybody, I mean like the majority of people that vote show up the presidential election. presidential election, it's a little bit less for midterms. When we start getting into local elections, at least where I live at, it gets less and less and less and less, right? So prime example, our last local election that we had here, which we elected county commissioners, there was all sorts of initiatives on the ballot. And that that was it, right? Like different fucking things that were asking the community, do you want to do this or not? Right. So like voting for a person, there was only like one little piece of that. And then there was four pages of shit that they were asking, do you want to do this? And the com do you want our community to do this? And we had an I believe it was an eight percent turnout of registered voters that showed up for that. Eight percent. Right? So I try to educate people. I try to show up in elections locally for things like that that will benefit the people of the fucking community. I try to fucking you know, I've been lucky in life, to where you know I developed some niche ass skills that have allowed me to make a lot of money throughout my life. And I what I try to do with that is Put money back into the community in the way of food, of fucking gas, of helping some we can help people raise money if they need to pay their rent. Somebody's got medical bills that's fucking all up because their insurance decided fuck you up kick. Let's see what we can do to cover that, right? Let's see what we can do as a community to fucking help you not lose everything and your fucking housing because you got sick. Right. And that's coming from that small focus. My daughter's Montessori teacher always fucking sung a song that said it's a lot when we all do a little. Right? So it's not on one person to fix everything. But if we all do something to try to help our community, a lot gets done. AD: So I think Luis: Amen. AD: would I be correct in in summarizing what you're saying as as you are more focused on effecting change on a smaller scale with things that are actually within your reach than trying to change things from the top down. joe: Absolutely I am. And I I I say that because to change things from the top down, first off you need fucking people behind you to make that happen. So that's the other thing where people always get it backwards. You could elect an anarchist or a communist As the fucking president in this next election, then that doesn't mean that they're gonna get shit done because there's no infrastructure behind them in our current system to let them accomplish anything. So if we wanna see these changes, we have to start showing up locally and build that infrastructure and build the fucking support when people start seeing, hey, this is fucking working out. You know what I mean? To to get to those upper levels of government and make any sort of change, you have to have the lower step in place.
