- 0:00Speaker 1: Yeah, Donald, Donald, if you're not recording, I am going
- 0:03Speaker 1: to squeeze your balls. Well I've been recording since for
- 0:07Speaker 1: like three minutes in seventeen seconds, so there will be
- 0:09Speaker 1: no ball squeeze. Here we go, sorry, hello, get to me.
- 0:13Speaker 1: Hello everyone? Three? Wait three two. Here's some stories about show.
- 0:19Speaker 1: We made about a bunch of stories. So yead around here,
- 0:33Speaker 1: yeado around here. Hello everyone. My name is Zach Braff. Hi,
- 0:42Speaker 1: I'm Donald Fason, and I can't believe it, but guess what, guys,
- 0:46Speaker 1: We're gonna do a Scrubs rewatch podcast. Yeah, that's exactly
- 0:50Speaker 1: what we're doing. Dude, your voice change completely all of
- 0:53Speaker 1: a sudden. We were all talking normal, you know, my
- 0:55Speaker 1: podcast started be like, hey everyone, it is I. I
- 0:58Speaker 1: got nervous and I I felt like I should sound
- 1:01Speaker 1: like a radio broadcaster. But no, okay, I'm back to me.
- 1:04Speaker 1: There we go. This is pretty exciting. I'm i gotta
- 1:08Speaker 1: tell you, I'm very excited that we've been talking about
- 1:10Speaker 1: this for a long time. We've been trying to figure
- 1:13Speaker 1: it out. I've been teasing social media, as have you been.
- 1:18Speaker 1: You've been You've been teasing social media a little bit
- 1:20Speaker 1: more than I have but I know because I wanted
- 1:23Speaker 1: to get people titilated. Donald, I wanted to titillate the masses. Well,
- 1:26Speaker 1: let's thank iHeartRadio first of all for putting this helping us.
- 1:30Speaker 1: We had to figure out who to do it, and
- 1:31Speaker 1: we found a perfect partner with iHeart, and we want
- 1:34Speaker 1: to thank them. And also we want to thank the
- 1:36Speaker 1: fans across the universe, because I just think it's would
- 1:39Speaker 1: be crazy for us not to start with saying we
- 1:42Speaker 1: wouldn't be doing this if it weren't for the just
- 1:45Speaker 1: incredibly loyal, amazing fan base we have around the earth. Right, Donald,
- 1:49Speaker 1: thank you very much all of you who watched the
- 1:52Speaker 1: show and who are listening to this podcast right now. Wow,
- 1:55Speaker 1: we appreciate you so much. Thank you so much. Yeah,
- 1:57Speaker 1: thank you. I mean, this has been so many years
- 2:00Speaker 1: of love for this show. And you know it's funny.
- 2:02Speaker 1: I'm sure Donald, you have this experience too, where people
- 2:03Speaker 1: come up through the street like I'm sure this is
- 2:05Speaker 1: so annoying, but I just want to say I love
- 2:07Speaker 1: the show, and I'm like, I'm always like, it's not annoying.
- 2:08Speaker 1: Are you kidding me? That's like the best comment you
- 2:10Speaker 1: can give us. So well, it's annoying when you're eating food. Yeah,
- 2:14Speaker 1: maybe eating food and somebody comes up to you and
- 2:15Speaker 1: they're like, sorry to bother you. You You know, at first,
- 2:18Speaker 1: why are you saying sorry to bother you? You're not
- 2:20Speaker 1: sorry to bother me. You're meant to bother me at
- 2:22Speaker 1: that moment, you know what I mean. Yeah, Well, just guys,
- 2:24Speaker 1: if you're gonna see Donald in public, don't do it
- 2:26Speaker 1: while he's eating. Maybe just with my kids. I don't
- 2:28Speaker 1: play that. Oh yeah, all right, we'll just wait outside
- 2:30Speaker 1: the restaurant for him in a dark in a dark alley.
- 2:37Speaker 1: That's how I prefer people to approach me, in a
- 2:39Speaker 1: dark galley. I also, my only request is not at
- 2:42Speaker 1: the not online, at the pharmacy because I'm usually sick
- 2:45Speaker 1: and I don't want to UM. I once had a
- 2:48Speaker 1: guy asked me to sign his his box of condoms
- 2:50Speaker 1: at a pharmacy, and uh I just who No. I
- 2:54Speaker 1: was like, dude, this is weird. I don't want to
- 2:56Speaker 1: sign Anyway. We've already digressed. We love our fans and
- 3:01Speaker 1: we're so glad you're listening. So the rough plan is
- 3:03Speaker 1: that we're just gonna talk through episodes of Scrubs we're
- 3:07Speaker 1: gonna start with with season one. Obviously. Today we're gonna
- 3:09Speaker 1: talk about the pilot and we're going to just kind
- 3:11Speaker 1: of tell stories and go through it scene by scene
- 3:14Speaker 1: and just kind of tell anecdotes and stuff, and then
- 3:17Speaker 1: eventually want to have guests on. We're gonna today we're
- 3:19Speaker 1: gonna take a very first fan question, which is thrilling.
- 3:22Speaker 1: Joel figured out how to do that. She's amazing. We're
- 3:25Speaker 1: really excited about this. We should start. Do you remember
- 3:27Speaker 1: the name of the pilot what the first episode was? No? Wait,
- 3:32Speaker 1: I just want to tell them one more thing. So
- 3:34Speaker 1: we were going to do this in person, but then,
- 3:35Speaker 1: of course, because of this COVID insanity, the good people
- 3:40Speaker 1: of iHeart have figured out a way for dollin us
- 3:43Speaker 1: do it remotely. So we're he's we're looking at each
- 3:45Speaker 1: other over zoom, and he's in his closet, which is
- 3:48Speaker 1: frigging hilarious because I guess that's the only place you
- 3:50Speaker 1: can hide from your kids. Yeah, well, yeah, they're downstairs.
- 3:53Speaker 1: We put on Captain underpants so they'll be quiet for
- 3:55Speaker 1: a bit. But if you hear someone yelling or screaming,
- 3:58Speaker 1: it's probably gonna be my son. Rocco or my daughter Wilder.
- 4:01Speaker 1: I'm gonna take a picture of this to post on
- 4:03Speaker 1: the interwebs because it's very adorable. Right, well, let me
- 4:06Speaker 1: get my let me get a fresh post. Then, oh
- 4:09Speaker 1: my god, you're so cute. All right. So Donald has
- 4:12Speaker 1: children and m and a wife and everyone's in quarantine.
- 4:16Speaker 1: So he's in his closet recording and we're looking at
- 4:19Speaker 1: each other. So so we're gonna do it like this, um,
- 4:22Speaker 1: and for the foreseeable future, every week we'll be coming
- 4:25Speaker 1: to you talking about the next episode of the show,
- 4:28Speaker 1: and we'll hope that you'll watch it along with us,
- 4:30Speaker 1: because that's kind of the idea if you if you
- 4:32Speaker 1: watched that episode, and then um, we'll shoot the shit
- 4:35Speaker 1: about that episode. I just watched it. I got very nostalgiic.
- 4:39Speaker 1: Did you did you feel nostalgia? Well, yeah, just how
- 4:42Speaker 1: young we were. First of all, we were so young,
- 4:46Speaker 1: so young. I didn't remember how young I was. I
- 4:49Speaker 1: was twenty six at the time and I'm forty five
- 4:53Speaker 1: turning forty six this year, and it was that was
- 4:56Speaker 1: twenty years ago. So you know, watching the pilot for
- 4:59Speaker 1: the first time, I'm really felt like it was brand new.
- 5:02Speaker 1: Like I remembered some things, but other things I was like,
- 5:05Speaker 1: I don't remember any of this. You know. I remember
- 5:09Speaker 1: certain poses that John c McGinley made, like when he
- 5:13Speaker 1: put his hand on the back of his head and
- 5:14Speaker 1: stuff like that. I remember being like, Wow, that's interesting
- 5:17Speaker 1: that he chose to do that right now, And as
- 5:20Speaker 1: the show goes on, it became his doctor Cox stuff.
- 5:23Speaker 1: But while we while watching it for the first time,
- 5:25Speaker 1: I was like, Oh my god, this is where it
- 5:27Speaker 1: all originated. This is where this is where this came from.
- 5:31Speaker 1: There were so many moments I had while watching it
- 5:32Speaker 1: too where I was like thinking, first of all, we
- 5:35Speaker 1: can't start off even even five minutes of this without
- 5:38Speaker 1: talking about Bill Lawrence, who is the creator of the
- 5:41Speaker 1: show and the reason we're all here talking. And I
- 5:44Speaker 1: was just amazed watching it how how much Bill got
- 5:47Speaker 1: it it's like twenty three minutes long, and how much
- 5:50Speaker 1: he was able how much storytelling and character introduction. The
- 5:53Speaker 1: pilots are always hard because you know, you have the
- 5:55Speaker 1: showrunner creator has such a hard job to introduce so
- 5:59Speaker 1: many characters and do it in twenty three minutes. And
- 6:02Speaker 1: it's just amazing how much how many characters are introduced,
- 6:05Speaker 1: how many storylines and like love interests are introduced, How
- 6:08Speaker 1: much is packed into one episode? Yeah, that's some of those.
- 6:11Speaker 1: I have questions for you, as a matter of fact,
- 6:14Speaker 1: just on you know, how the whole pilot came together
- 6:18Speaker 1: and everything. Well wait, let's start with let's sorry I
- 6:19Speaker 1: didn't interrupt you, but let's start with I feel like
- 6:22Speaker 1: we should tell our stories about auditioning, because that's well, yeah,
- 6:25Speaker 1: that was my first question for you. So when we
- 6:27Speaker 1: first started the pilot, I had already done quite a
- 6:31Speaker 1: few things, Like I was in clueless. I had done
- 6:34Speaker 1: remember the Titans already waiting to exhale. I was guest
- 6:37Speaker 1: starring on Felicity at the time, and this was a
- 6:39Speaker 1: pilot that came up for me, and I was like, yeah, sure,
- 6:41Speaker 1: I'll go out for it. I'd love to go out
- 6:43Speaker 1: for it. Anybody wants to be on a show. And
- 6:45Speaker 1: it wasn't until after I auditioned for it and got
- 6:47Speaker 1: it that everybody was like, oh my. I remember all
- 6:49Speaker 1: of my agents being like, this is like the number
- 6:51Speaker 1: one pilot of this season. Everyone wanted to be a
- 6:54Speaker 1: part of this, and you booked it, and I remember
- 6:56Speaker 1: being like, holy cow. I was just looking at it
- 6:58Speaker 1: as let me get another job. I got kids to feed.
- 7:01Speaker 1: You know what I mean. You were completely different. You
- 7:03Speaker 1: were like I mean, I know you had been in
- 7:05Speaker 1: some things and stuff like that, but you hadn't even
- 7:07Speaker 1: really popped yet. Yeah. I'd done little things, you know.
- 7:09Speaker 1: I've been in an indie. I was in an indie,
- 7:11Speaker 1: A couple of indies, one called The Broken Hearts Club
- 7:13Speaker 1: that went to Sundance, but I was still waiting tables.
- 7:15Speaker 1: I directed that, by the way, a now superstar famous
- 7:19Speaker 1: person named Greg Berlani. It was his very first film,
- 7:22Speaker 1: and he gave me one of my first early big
- 7:25Speaker 1: breaks being in that movie. And I was a waiter
- 7:28Speaker 1: at a French Vietnamese restaurant in Beverly Hills combination and
- 7:33Speaker 1: people who you know, if you saw Garden State in
- 7:36Speaker 1: my film, I'm kind of spoofing that in the beginning
- 7:39Speaker 1: when I'm working with a tunic on and waiting on
- 7:41Speaker 1: horrible people. But anyway, I was waiting there and people
- 7:44Speaker 1: would come from having Broken Hearts Club was in the theater,
- 7:47Speaker 1: and people would come from the theater and they'd say
- 7:49Speaker 1: for dessert to the restaurant, and they'd be like, we
- 7:51Speaker 1: just saw your movie and I'd be like, oh cool,
- 7:54Speaker 1: thank you, thank you for going. And they'd be like
- 7:56Speaker 1: you were you were great, and I go, oh, thank you,
- 7:58Speaker 1: thank you so much. Let me tell you about our specials.
- 8:02Speaker 1: And it was like, only in Hollywood can you go
- 8:04Speaker 1: see a movie and then have the star of the
- 8:06Speaker 1: movie wait on you for dessert. How did you feel
- 8:08Speaker 1: about that? Were you ever embarrassed by it? It was
- 8:10Speaker 1: so embarrassed. I remember I would go to like a
- 8:12Speaker 1: general meeting in Hollywood of these things called general meetings
- 8:14Speaker 1: where you kind of go and like you're like bragging that,
- 8:16Speaker 1: oh my my career is going so well and we
- 8:18Speaker 1: should really work together, and you're just kind of schmoozing.
- 8:20Speaker 1: And I remember I did one of those and like
- 8:22Speaker 1: it really went well, and I came out feeling so good.
- 8:25Speaker 1: And then that night I looked down at one of
- 8:26Speaker 1: my tables and the guy was at the table, and
- 8:30Speaker 1: I didn't I had left out the part how I
- 8:32Speaker 1: was still, you know, hustling and waiting tables. But so
- 8:37Speaker 1: you know, I got the audition. I was waiting tables.
- 8:40Speaker 1: I got the audition. Now that my story is a
- 8:43Speaker 1: little funny, because I went out first for it in
- 8:45Speaker 1: New York. I happened to be in New York, and
- 8:46Speaker 1: I didn't prepare. It went so poorly. I hadn't read
- 8:50Speaker 1: the script. You know, not every audition do you go
- 8:53Speaker 1: in killing it. And I didn't do a good job.
- 8:56Speaker 1: And I when I got back to La, my agent said, look,
- 8:59Speaker 1: they still can't find this guy for this show. And
- 9:03Speaker 1: it's really, like you said, everyone's talking about this is
- 9:04Speaker 1: like one of the hot new shows of the season.
- 9:06Speaker 1: You I think you could just go back in, like
- 9:08Speaker 1: they won't even know, like your audition, I don't even
- 9:11Speaker 1: They were like, I don't even know if your tape
- 9:12Speaker 1: made it from New York, like because no one was
- 9:14Speaker 1: no one, no one even responded to whatever the fuck
- 9:16Speaker 1: you did. So I this time, I took it seriously.
- 9:19Speaker 1: I memorized that I worked on it. I practiced a lot,
- 9:22Speaker 1: and then when I went in. I remember the cash
- 9:24Speaker 1: director Brett Right, I was in. He looked up at
- 9:28Speaker 1: me like, oh okay, like with a smile. And then
- 9:32Speaker 1: it was off to the races. And then I met
- 9:34Speaker 1: Bill and I worked with Bill, and and then you know,
- 9:39Speaker 1: I literally auditioned six times before I got it, and
- 9:43Speaker 1: finally my final audition was for the network, and it
- 9:46Speaker 1: was down between four of us, and I read with
- 9:49Speaker 1: Sarah and I, you know, I had in six times.
- 9:53Speaker 1: I wore the exact same outfit every single time because
- 9:55Speaker 1: I was so superstitious, and I could really tell that
- 9:58Speaker 1: Bill was rooting for me. He made it known to
- 10:01Speaker 1: me that that he wanted me to get it. But
- 10:03Speaker 1: but there were a lot of you know, people that
- 10:04Speaker 1: were more famous than me that were that were I
- 10:06Speaker 1: mean that we're famous, that were up for it. So
- 10:08Speaker 1: I couldn't I couldn't leave. I got it. But anyway,
- 10:11Speaker 1: so tell me. Tell me about your audition for So
- 10:12Speaker 1: I auditioned for it. The first time I auditioned for it.
- 10:15Speaker 1: I don't know who was in the room, to be
- 10:16Speaker 1: honest with you. I just auditioned and they were like,
- 10:19Speaker 1: they want to bring you back. And then I came
- 10:21Speaker 1: back and I auditioned again, and this time Bill was there,
- 10:24Speaker 1: and I remember being like, oh, okay. You know, at
- 10:28Speaker 1: this point in my career, it was like I'm just
- 10:30Speaker 1: going to audition for things as many times as I
- 10:32Speaker 1: can until they say yes, you know what I mean,
- 10:34Speaker 1: or until they say no. And I remember they were like,
- 10:38Speaker 1: all right, look you're gonna test for this, but they
- 10:40Speaker 1: want you to go in for one more audition before that,
- 10:42Speaker 1: just to run lines with Bill and work on the
- 10:45Speaker 1: jokes and stuff. And I was like, yeah, absolutely. The
- 10:48Speaker 1: one thing I remembered to this day he still liked this.
- 10:52Speaker 1: If Bill wants the joke to work, he'll laugh. Even
- 10:55Speaker 1: if it fell flat, He'll still laugh to give you
- 10:58Speaker 1: the confidence of yo, dude, that's the joke. That's where
- 11:02Speaker 1: the joke lands, right. Yeah. So we went into the
- 11:04Speaker 1: room and we were working on it and he's laughing
- 11:07Speaker 1: at everything and I'm like, oh, I'm crushing it. And
- 11:10Speaker 1: then after every take he'd be like, all right, now,
- 11:11Speaker 1: let's work on this beat. And I remember it was
- 11:14Speaker 1: him and Danny Rose at the time. Yeah, Danny Rose
- 11:18Speaker 1: is another one. At the time, he was Bill's assistant,
- 11:21Speaker 1: but then then he rose up in the ranks and
- 11:24Speaker 1: became a producer on the show. Right, And so we
- 11:28Speaker 1: did it, and then he was like, all right, good
- 11:30Speaker 1: luck tomorrow. And I was like all right, bet, And
- 11:32Speaker 1: so I went on the audition and I saw a
- 11:33Speaker 1: bunch of friends of mine auditioning, and Sarah was there,
- 11:37Speaker 1: and you know, we were there for about an hour
- 11:40Speaker 1: and a half, all of us testing in front of
- 11:42Speaker 1: the network, and I remember at one point, you know,
- 11:47Speaker 1: we're all sitting out there for a while and they
- 11:49Speaker 1: hadn't come out in a bit, and Bill comes out.
- 11:52Speaker 1: It's like, Donald, I need to talk to you real quick.
- 11:53Speaker 1: And I was like, oh, well, I guess I'm the
- 11:55Speaker 1: first person to go home. And he says, so, look,
- 12:00Speaker 1: your audition you probably could tell already, but you kind
- 12:03Speaker 1: of fucked it up. So and so you know, I
- 12:09Speaker 1: want to give you another shot because the things that
- 12:12Speaker 1: I've seen you do, you just didn't do that time
- 12:15Speaker 1: in the room, and so if you could just bring
- 12:17Speaker 1: it down a little bit. And because you agree with him,
- 12:19Speaker 1: did you think did you? Did you agree with him
- 12:21Speaker 1: and think like, oh shit, I was so nervous, and
- 12:23Speaker 1: he's right, No, I thought I was crushing it. I
- 12:26Speaker 1: was doing everything that we I thought I was doing
- 12:28Speaker 1: everything that we had done in the rehearsal right. So
- 12:31Speaker 1: finally I go in there and I remember toning everything
- 12:34Speaker 1: down and him being like perfect and then leaving and
- 12:39Speaker 1: he sent everybody home except for Sarah, myself and one
- 12:43Speaker 1: other person. And that night I found out I got
- 12:46Speaker 1: the job. Wow, you know, what I mean. And you know,
- 12:50Speaker 1: when I went in all the audition, I expected to
- 12:52Speaker 1: see the guy that he had kept. You know, it
- 12:55Speaker 1: was me, Sarah and this one guy, and we were like,
- 12:57Speaker 1: holy cow, I guess we got it right. And I
- 13:01Speaker 1: expected to see the guy at the table read and
- 13:04Speaker 1: you walked in. I was like, that's not the same dude. Wait,
- 13:09Speaker 1: so I knew who you were obviously, but because I
- 13:12Speaker 1: loved I had not seen anything you were in. No, No,
- 13:14Speaker 1: you wouldn't. I'm sure I didn't mean to say that
- 13:18Speaker 1: you had seen my two little indies. I just mean, like,
- 13:21Speaker 1: I guess I don't know what my question is. I
- 13:22Speaker 1: mean like you even seen a picture of me. You
- 13:24Speaker 1: didn't even know anything about me. You just knew nothing
- 13:26Speaker 1: about you. You knew what you knew. An unknown guy
- 13:28Speaker 1: got the part at least right. I feel like I
- 13:30Speaker 1: remember what you wore at a table read though, I
- 13:32Speaker 1: feel like you wore corduroy brown pants. I could believe
- 13:36Speaker 1: that you would remember this and a T shirt. And
- 13:39Speaker 1: we met at the bar while I remember this, I
- 13:41Speaker 1: remember I was writing this down in my notes. First
- 13:43Speaker 1: of all, it was that Christa Miller's all and Bill's
- 13:47Speaker 1: old house and Charlotte Lawrence had just been born. Charlotte
- 13:51Speaker 1: Lawrence was a baby, and we walked into I remember
- 13:55Speaker 1: it was a sunken living room and there was a
- 13:57Speaker 1: bar in the corner and then you turned around out
- 14:00Speaker 1: and we're like, gave me this big smile and they
- 14:02Speaker 1: were like, yeah, buddy, like and I was like, it
- 14:06Speaker 1: literally was love at first sight, right, I just felt
- 14:09Speaker 1: I was so nervous. I didnt understand. I mean, I
- 14:10Speaker 1: knew you were obviously, I knew John McGinley was. I
- 14:13Speaker 1: had met Sarah and my audition, but like I was,
- 14:16Speaker 1: you can imagine. I mean, we're all nervous no matter
- 14:18Speaker 1: who you are. But I was because because also people
- 14:20Speaker 1: do get fired after table reads, so you know, you're like,
- 14:23Speaker 1: You're like, I mostly have it, but I really got
- 14:25Speaker 1: to make sure I keep it. And uh and then
- 14:27Speaker 1: I saw you and you were so warm and and
- 14:29Speaker 1: I think we hugged. I think the first time, I know,
- 14:31Speaker 1: we did hug Yeah, the first time we met, we hugged.
- 14:35Speaker 1: Well that's that's that was the That was the crazy.
- 14:37Speaker 1: The craziest thing was I remember not knowing who you
- 14:40Speaker 1: were and being like, all right, they were and Bill
- 14:42Speaker 1: was like let's start the table read. And I remember
- 14:46Speaker 1: being nervous for myself and then you started reading, and
- 14:51Speaker 1: all of a sudden, the jokes that I didn't see
- 14:54Speaker 1: in the script when I read it, all of a
- 14:56Speaker 1: sudden started to appear because you were knocking out, knocking
- 14:59Speaker 1: it out of the park, and everybody was laughing and
- 15:02Speaker 1: you know, really excited. So when it was my time
- 15:05Speaker 1: to come and I was like, yeah, the energy was there,
- 15:08Speaker 1: and you know what I mean, I just remember being like,
- 15:10Speaker 1: holy cow, this kid is amazing, and I remember being
- 15:14Speaker 1: like this could actually turn into something. This is at
- 15:18Speaker 1: the table read. I remember being like this could be
- 15:20Speaker 1: something special. My agents weren't lying when they told me
- 15:24Speaker 1: this was the one. Yeah, yeah, man, I remember that
- 15:27Speaker 1: special feeling too. I also wanted to say that I
- 15:30Speaker 1: when I drove home from my test, I had a
- 15:32Speaker 1: Star Tech. I had the motor role of Startek. You
- 15:34Speaker 1: remember that, Yeah, yeah, the two ways. No, No, the
- 15:38Speaker 1: Star Trek was the little flip phone, the little black
- 15:40Speaker 1: flip phone back in the day. Oh, I don't know. Anyway,
- 15:43Speaker 1: I had my little I had my little I had
- 15:44Speaker 1: my little flip phone and I put it on the
- 15:46Speaker 1: passenger seat as I was driving home from the network
- 15:48Speaker 1: test and I'm just waiting to see if it was
- 15:50Speaker 1: gonna ring, and like, is my life about to change
- 15:54Speaker 1: substantially or not? And the phone rang. It was Bill.
- 15:58Speaker 1: He told me I got the part, and I was
- 16:01Speaker 1: just flipping out. I mean, I had no money. I
- 16:03Speaker 1: didn't have a dollar into my name. I you know,
- 16:05Speaker 1: I was living, dude, who are you telling man? I
- 16:08Speaker 1: had kids. I bought a house with all of this
- 16:10Speaker 1: clueless money that I had. And you know what I mean.
- 16:13Speaker 1: I thought I was going to be a baller. And
- 16:15Speaker 1: I remember having to call home and beg my mom
- 16:18Speaker 1: for money so I could get gas to go on
- 16:20Speaker 1: these auditions. Oh you know what I mean. Because I
- 16:22Speaker 1: was broke, my parents loaned me, um, five thousand dollars
- 16:25Speaker 1: to buy a car out in La So I bought
- 16:27Speaker 1: a car. I bought a Nissan to forty SX I remember,
- 16:31Speaker 1: which did me really really well. And um, and then
- 16:33Speaker 1: I was just, you know, living off my waiters salary.
- 16:36Speaker 1: But um, I got the call from Bill. I freak out.
- 16:39Speaker 1: I called my mom, I called my dad, and then
- 16:41Speaker 1: I called the manager of the restaurant, who was amazingly
- 16:43Speaker 1: supportive of me, and she was she was an actress herself,
- 16:45Speaker 1: and she was like, I'm so happy for you. Congratulations.
- 16:48Speaker 1: And I was like, well, I quit. And she was
- 16:50Speaker 1: like wait wait, I'll never forget that. She was like,
- 16:57Speaker 1: work tonight. I was like what now, But she's like
- 16:59Speaker 1: you have to work tonight. And I was like I do.
- 17:02Speaker 1: She's like, babe, you can't leave me hanging like that.
- 17:04Speaker 1: You gotta work tonight. I was like, I was like, oh,
- 17:05Speaker 1: I'll work tonight. And I just got I like I
- 17:08Speaker 1: had hammered. People were like waiting on me, like you know,
- 17:10Speaker 1: because it was one of those restaurant where people were
- 17:11Speaker 1: like really douche and like sir, and I'd be like,
- 17:13Speaker 1: just wait your turn. I everybody, everybody calmed down, all right,
- 17:21Speaker 1: your food is coming right on. I remember after we
- 17:25Speaker 1: shot the pilot, just to jump ahead and having to
- 17:28Speaker 1: wait for so long for the show to get picked up,
- 17:30Speaker 1: right and running into you at a club and you
- 17:33Speaker 1: being out of your mind blitzed. Yeah, yeah, that's probably
- 17:38Speaker 1: what happened. I could never get into the club, like
- 17:40Speaker 1: I went like and the classic thing with like the
- 17:42Speaker 1: red velvet ropes and like I can't even picture like
- 17:46Speaker 1: me being online at the club, being like, all right,
- 17:48Speaker 1: I'm going out to a nightclub tonight because I got
- 17:50Speaker 1: some money in my pocket. And it's like, I picture,
- 17:53Speaker 1: I see like Donald going in, like the guys, like
- 17:55Speaker 1: the bouncers, like part the red velvet ropes. Is Donald
- 17:57Speaker 1: and his posse gets gets led into the club. And
- 18:00Speaker 1: then I get in and I saw you. I remember,
- 18:02Speaker 1: I remember the first night I saw you like out
- 18:04Speaker 1: in the real world, and I like screamed because I
- 18:06Speaker 1: was like, dude, you was so loud and he was
- 18:08Speaker 1: so drunk. It was so funny. Well, I had to celebrate.
- 18:12Speaker 1: So let's get Let's get back to the Let's get back.
- 18:13Speaker 1: Let's talk about the pilot. Now. The first thing I
- 18:15Speaker 1: want to see about the pilot. The first thing I
- 18:17Speaker 1: noticed is, uh that that's not the hospital, right. The
- 18:22Speaker 1: pilot for Scrubs was filmed um. We filmed technically in
- 18:25Speaker 1: three spots. The pilot was filmed um in a Burbank
- 18:29Speaker 1: hospital and this one that they show it in the
- 18:32Speaker 1: exterior is actually not even that. It's just a different hospital.
- 18:35Speaker 1: But then we shot the bulk of the series at
- 18:37Speaker 1: a hospital in Valley Village which is now apartments. And
- 18:42Speaker 1: then season nine, which We'll have plenty of jokes about
- 18:45Speaker 1: um was shot actually on a backlot on stages, But
- 18:49Speaker 1: the bulk of the show, the one that that you
- 18:51Speaker 1: all know and love, was shot all inside a real hospital.
- 18:55Speaker 1: I'm sure not everybody knows that it was a real hospital.
- 18:59Speaker 1: Remember the sound man saying something about, you know, I
- 19:02Speaker 1: think when we did the pilot, I'm not sure if
- 19:06Speaker 1: I'm not sure if it was the pilot of the
- 19:07Speaker 1: actual series, but I think it was the pilot saying,
- 19:10Speaker 1: you know what, I'm gonna set up in this room
- 19:12Speaker 1: because this is the room that my father died in
- 19:14Speaker 1: or something. Really, yeah, that's so dark. Our dressing rooms,
- 19:18Speaker 1: you know. You know you've seen a lot of times
- 19:19Speaker 1: on sets the people have trailers that are their dressing rooms. Well,
- 19:22Speaker 1: our dressing rooms were hospital rooms. For eight and a
- 19:25Speaker 1: half years that we worked at this hospital, we lived
- 19:30Speaker 1: and did everything inside this hospital. I mean, our dressing
- 19:33Speaker 1: rooms were in the hospital, the makeup rooms in the hospital,
- 19:35Speaker 1: the offices were in this hospital. They editing, the writer's room, everything.
- 19:40Speaker 1: All the other sets, like you know, whether it was
- 19:42Speaker 1: the inside of a bar or our apartment, all those
- 19:44Speaker 1: were built into this really disgusting ancient hospital. Okay, So
- 19:51Speaker 1: I want to talk about the first scene where you
- 19:54Speaker 1: wake up and it's time to that. Was that a reshoot? Um? No,
- 19:59Speaker 1: it was not a reshoot. I think it was done
- 20:01Speaker 1: like after the fact things, probably one of the last
- 20:03Speaker 1: things we did. I do remember thinking that I didn't
- 20:05Speaker 1: think this was funny, this this whole shaving cream thing.
- 20:07Speaker 1: It turned out to be really funny. Well that's Bill.
- 20:10Speaker 1: Bill turns it into something. I remember thinking like, what,
- 20:13Speaker 1: why would I be doing this? Why would I, on
- 20:17Speaker 1: my first day so nervous be making a shaving cream
- 20:19Speaker 1: bra or being like a warrior? A warrior? Like how
- 20:28Speaker 1: young I am. I'm just scrolling through because I like
- 20:30Speaker 1: to just reference it. But anyway, I didn't think it
- 20:33Speaker 1: was funny at the time, but then I saw it
- 20:34Speaker 1: and I remember thinking, yeah, that was that was clever. Okay.
- 20:36Speaker 1: And then the scene where where you walk into the
- 20:39Speaker 1: hospital and the lady gives you all of this energy
- 20:42Speaker 1: about what's going to happen today, et cetera, et cetera,
- 20:45Speaker 1: and then you not really knowing where to go. Yeah,
- 20:49Speaker 1: I mean, this was one thing I'll hearing you say
- 20:52Speaker 1: over and over again was and Bill always said this
- 20:54Speaker 1: was like there's no person better to play someone young
- 20:57Speaker 1: and in over their head than me. Because here I
- 20:59Speaker 1: wasnew anything of I mean, it was all method acting.
- 21:01Speaker 1: I didn't know anything about starring in a TV show.
- 21:04Speaker 1: I didn't know anything about like I mean, I knew
- 21:06Speaker 1: I had some experience, but every time I was playing
- 21:09Speaker 1: the wide eyed guy walking around, I was just being
- 21:11Speaker 1: me because I couldn't believe that this was happening to me.
- 21:13Speaker 1: You know, it was the exact same life that I
- 21:16Speaker 1: was living, you know what, speaking of wide eyed. Before
- 21:19Speaker 1: we started the pilot, they wanted us to all go
- 21:21Speaker 1: on rounds with doctors and stuff like that. Right. I
- 21:24Speaker 1: did that, right? I did not. I opted out. I
- 21:26Speaker 1: was like, get the funk out of here. I'm not
- 21:28Speaker 1: doing that shit. I don't want to see any of this.
- 21:31Speaker 1: But meanwhile, I'm like, I'm like the diligent student who's like,
- 21:33Speaker 1: all right, send me out right. I remember getting on
- 21:36Speaker 1: the phone with the young lady who was my contact
- 21:40Speaker 1: that was going to take me around on rounds, and
- 21:42Speaker 1: her being like, so you're coming down to night and
- 21:43Speaker 1: me being like, yeah about that. No, I don't see
- 21:47Speaker 1: myself ever doing this. If you could just tell me
- 21:50Speaker 1: some anecdotes that would be great. But yeah, I was
- 21:52Speaker 1: the exactly. I was like the good student. I was like,
- 21:54Speaker 1: did you see anything crazy? No, but I remember thinking
- 21:56Speaker 1: it was really inappropriate actually that she was having me
- 21:59Speaker 1: like go around, like to visit patients with her, Like
- 22:02Speaker 1: she she put a stethoscope around my neck, so I
- 22:05Speaker 1: would look like legit, like I know, it's kind of
- 22:08Speaker 1: fucked up in hindsight, like I should not have been
- 22:10Speaker 1: doing that. But did she ever refer to you like no, no,
- 22:13Speaker 1: because she she was just treating me like I was
- 22:15Speaker 1: like I was a medical student and she wasn't doing
- 22:19Speaker 1: what she should have done, which is being like, hey,
- 22:21Speaker 1: is it okay there's someone who's an actor researching a part.
- 22:24Speaker 1: She wasn't doing that. I was just going in and
- 22:26Speaker 1: being like, hey, how's the guy's and she kind of
- 22:29Speaker 1: like and the people would be like looking at her,
- 22:31Speaker 1: and then they like they nod to me, and I'm
- 22:33Speaker 1: like I would just be nodding. I remember, I was
- 22:35Speaker 1: just I was just kind of had like a serious
- 22:37Speaker 1: nod on my face, like I was listening and understanding
- 22:39Speaker 1: what's going on. I want to talk about the title sequence,
- 22:50Speaker 1: because that's the next thing that comes up. I was
- 22:51Speaker 1: going to ask you about that too, man, Dude, how
- 22:54Speaker 1: much did you hate that until you saw it. That's
- 22:57Speaker 1: one of those things where I was like, this is sucks. Man.
- 22:59Speaker 1: It took for those of you who don't know, it's
- 23:01Speaker 1: a motion control camera, and it really took a long
- 23:04Speaker 1: time to do that, and at the time we didn't
- 23:06Speaker 1: know how cool it would look, so it was like
- 23:08Speaker 1: it took like a full day to do it, and
- 23:10Speaker 1: I remember we were all kind of really over it
- 23:13Speaker 1: by the end. Then it came out and it was
- 23:15Speaker 1: really fucking cool. And then we've heard this for many
- 23:18Speaker 1: times our whole scrubs existence, but the X ray at
- 23:22Speaker 1: the end is backwards, and every every doctor wanted to
- 23:25Speaker 1: point that out, and we used to be like, oh, yeah, yeah,
- 23:29Speaker 1: that's on purpose. Get it because they're like med students
- 23:31Speaker 1: comedy right, yeah, and they're med students. They don't fully
- 23:33Speaker 1: get it. When we were like, no, it wasn't the
- 23:35Speaker 1: fucking prop guy fucked up the ship backwards. We did.
- 23:38Speaker 1: But we got lucky with that too, because that kind
- 23:40Speaker 1: of set the tone for this offbeat, wacky show of ours.
- 23:43Speaker 1: You know, I know, I know. But early on in
- 23:45Speaker 1: like in like commentary. I remember everyone being like the
- 23:48Speaker 1: X rays backwards and we were like, yeah, we're meant
- 23:51Speaker 1: to do it, and to do it again when we
- 23:54Speaker 1: do it next time. Do you remember when we a
- 23:56Speaker 1: few years in they tried to redo this sequence with
- 23:59Speaker 1: Neil to add Neil. They wanted to add Neil and
- 24:02Speaker 1: Neil that played the janitor. Yeah, And and then so
- 24:05Speaker 1: they aired it a few times and the fan base
- 24:07Speaker 1: was like, what the fuck is that over? No, they
- 24:10Speaker 1: weren't having it. They were not having it. They were
- 24:12Speaker 1: like so like season nine, how they weren't having season
- 24:15Speaker 1: But anyway, all right, we digree. We have one hundred
- 24:18Speaker 1: and eighty episodes to get to you before we wait.
- 24:20Speaker 1: And then I want to say that the song was
- 24:22Speaker 1: um it was a song I found from a band
- 24:25Speaker 1: called laslow Bane that I was friends with and I
- 24:27Speaker 1: because originally we wanted five for fighting. That was yeah,
- 24:31Speaker 1: that was the original theme song. It was something like, uh,
- 24:34Speaker 1: I'm more than a bird. We can never use this,
- 24:37Speaker 1: I'm more than a plane. I think you're allowed to
- 24:39Speaker 1: sing a few lines Superman beside a train. However it
- 24:44Speaker 1: goes anyway, so, um, I can't stand my friend. Um right,
- 24:52Speaker 1: all right, my friend Chad Fisher was in this band,
- 24:54Speaker 1: and I thought the lyrics were perfect because it's not
- 24:57Speaker 1: only was it a great song, but it's like what
- 24:59Speaker 1: the show's about. You know, I'm Superman. Donald, get it, Well,
- 25:02Speaker 1: that's the same thing the Fight for Fighting song was about.
- 25:05Speaker 1: You just found somebody who wrote something kind of similar
- 25:07Speaker 1: to it. I can't do it all, Donald, I couldn't
- 25:09Speaker 1: do it all on my own. I needed my friend.
- 25:11Speaker 1: I'm moving, bod. You have such a pretty voice, though.
- 25:18Speaker 1: I just remember how perfect the song was when they
- 25:23Speaker 1: sang it, and we didn't really necessarily know that it
- 25:25Speaker 1: was going to be the theme song until I remember
- 25:28Speaker 1: you playing it from me and being like dude, and
- 25:30Speaker 1: and being like, oh yeah, that's cool. But I didn't
- 25:32Speaker 1: realize it was going to really be the theme song
- 25:33Speaker 1: until we had that first cookout before we started shooting
- 25:37Speaker 1: the show, and he sang it with the with the
- 25:42Speaker 1: bullhorn and his boy playing the guitar next to him,
- 25:46Speaker 1: and then we made a music video. If any of
- 25:48Speaker 1: you never saw it, it's kind of cool. I shot
- 25:51Speaker 1: a music video for the song, and I shot all
- 25:53Speaker 1: this kind of cool footage of us. I'm sure it's
- 25:55Speaker 1: on YouTube all right, Okay, so let's talk about the
- 25:59Speaker 1: first scene with you. I'm gathering my notes because I
- 26:01Speaker 1: did a lot of I wanted fans to know I
- 26:04Speaker 1: did a lot of prep for this right on. So
- 26:06Speaker 1: the first scene with you and I, where we're talking
- 26:08Speaker 1: and Ted the Lawyer is explaining to us, you know,
- 26:13Speaker 1: legal procedure in the hospital. Yeah, I remember him making
- 26:18Speaker 1: up the line and if you pay if your patient's
- 26:21Speaker 1: dead and you're sure and you're sure and uh, I
- 26:26Speaker 1: remember that was when I realized, oh wow, Bill's gonna
- 26:28Speaker 1: let us. He's gonna let us improv a little bit. Yeah,
- 26:31Speaker 1: and opportunities to be funny. Yeah. I think that's one
- 26:35Speaker 1: of the things that made Scrubs really special is that
- 26:38Speaker 1: Bill really let everyone kind of make it their own.
- 26:41Speaker 1: I mean, his running rule through through the whole series was,
- 26:44Speaker 1: you know, please get it the way that it's written first,
- 26:47Speaker 1: make sure we've got it good, and then you guys
- 26:49Speaker 1: can play around and improvise and if you have some
- 26:52Speaker 1: wacky idea, you can do it. And that was from
- 26:54Speaker 1: the get go. And then he had and he hired
- 26:56Speaker 1: all these amazing people like Sam Lloyd, who plays Lawyer,
- 27:00Speaker 1: who played Ted the Lawyer, and a little trivia who's
- 27:03Speaker 1: Christopher Lloyd's nephew? You know, just hilarious character actors like
- 27:08Speaker 1: that that could that would just bring all their own
- 27:10Speaker 1: and no matter what the size of the part, you know,
- 27:12Speaker 1: from from from our size part all the way down
- 27:15Speaker 1: to people who had you know, would have one line
- 27:17Speaker 1: an episode. Um, there was so much freedom to just
- 27:19Speaker 1: kind of riff around and make it funny. Yeah, and
- 27:22Speaker 1: we should give a shout out to Adam Bernstein who
- 27:24Speaker 1: directed the pilot. A polo director. Yeah, a pilot director
- 27:28Speaker 1: for those of you who don't know, really sets the
- 27:29Speaker 1: look of the show and the style. You know, Scrubs
- 27:32Speaker 1: has a very specific style with the whip pans and
- 27:34Speaker 1: the flashing to flashbacks and fantasies, and even the color
- 27:38Speaker 1: of the show to make how it looks so much
- 27:40Speaker 1: like a hospital and isn't overly saturated like a lot
- 27:45Speaker 1: of TV shows that deal with hospital life. They you know,
- 27:49Speaker 1: they want their actors to pop on screens. So the
- 27:54Speaker 1: blues or bluer and the eyes and the you know
- 27:57Speaker 1: what I mean, Scrubs it look dingy and dirty in
- 28:00Speaker 1: the hospital. In that first episode, I noticed a lot.
- 28:03Speaker 1: I noticed that it was clearly. The thing I noticed
- 28:04Speaker 1: they you know, the whole idea was that it was
- 28:06Speaker 1: a it was a hospital that was had very little money.
- 28:08Speaker 1: And I noticed there's a lot of stuff. I know,
- 28:10Speaker 1: I haven't watched this pilot how many years, twenty years,
- 28:14Speaker 1: but I remember I was looking at the ceiling tiles.
- 28:16Speaker 1: There's all these like missing ceiling tiles, and yeah, and
- 28:18Speaker 1: it was and Bill and Adam really made it feel
- 28:20Speaker 1: like a dingy you know, it was not supposed to
- 28:22Speaker 1: be a nice hospital. Also, the show was shot on film,
- 28:25Speaker 1: which a lot of people probably don't know. This was
- 28:27Speaker 1: the entire series was shot on sixteen millimeter film. That's
- 28:31Speaker 1: why there's no blu ray and there's no if you
- 28:33Speaker 1: look at it normally, how it's meant to be seen.
- 28:35Speaker 1: It's a square because it was before high def video
- 28:39Speaker 1: and sixteen by nine televisions and uh and no one
- 28:43Speaker 1: ever like upraised it. So this is all we got.
- 28:45Speaker 1: I watched the iTunes version, which has the original music.
- 28:49Speaker 1: Do you want to explain to them about the music thing?
- 28:51Speaker 1: Hulu doesn't have the original music. Well, just you know,
- 28:53Speaker 1: just because it's a question we get from a lot
- 28:55Speaker 1: of fans at times on social media, all this music
- 28:58Speaker 1: that was put on Scrubs and a lot of people
- 29:00Speaker 1: love was licensed before streaming. So these days, a lot
- 29:04Speaker 1: of times if you watch it on Hulu where it's
- 29:06Speaker 1: currently playing, or wherever you're watching it, it might have
- 29:09Speaker 1: some of those songs that you love replaced because they
- 29:12Speaker 1: weren't licensed for streaming rights. iTunes is the only place
- 29:16Speaker 1: or owning the DVD's obviously, is the only place where
- 29:18Speaker 1: where all of the original music would be there. Let's
- 29:20Speaker 1: talk about your teeth for a second, because I don't
- 29:22Speaker 1: think we can just let this go. Ah, I had
- 29:26Speaker 1: baby teeth when we started shooting the show. I don't
- 29:29Speaker 1: have baby teeth. And if you spent a lot of
- 29:31Speaker 1: money on new teeth there it is if you free streams,
- 29:34Speaker 1: if you freeze frame. There was there was a sage
- 29:36Speaker 1: of Donald's teeth because he used to have he had
- 29:39Speaker 1: fake braces famously in Clueless. Yes, because they were trying
- 29:42Speaker 1: to hide my small teeth. Go on, oh is that
- 29:45Speaker 1: really why? Absolutely? Oh, we're getting an exclusive here, so
- 29:49Speaker 1: you're selling they shave my head, and they shaved my
- 29:51Speaker 1: head and Clueless because my hairline was receding at eighteen
- 29:55Speaker 1: you know what I mean? By the time I was
- 29:57Speaker 1: twenty one, I had this hairline right here that you
- 29:59Speaker 1: that I'm well, you guys can't see it, but I
- 30:01Speaker 1: had this. Uh. By the way, I feel like we're
- 30:05Speaker 1: breaking news that you're famous. When I was a kid,
- 30:08Speaker 1: they called me George Jefferson. Okay, because of my hairline?
- 30:14Speaker 1: Are you happy? Are you happy? But I never knew
- 30:17Speaker 1: that the clueless braces were because of your fucked up
- 30:20Speaker 1: chicklet teeth. Yes, and then the and then the hats
- 30:24Speaker 1: that I wore and clueless was because of my hairline.
- 30:26Speaker 1: Oh my god, Like I have a baby face. I
- 30:29Speaker 1: have a baby face. It's a baby right, Like I
- 30:31Speaker 1: have a baby face. Yeah, but I don't have a
- 30:33Speaker 1: baby's hair line, right, I had baby teeth. I had
- 30:37Speaker 1: baby teeth. Who called you George Jefferson? Your parents? No,
- 30:40Speaker 1: some like dickhead that I grew up my parents. You're
- 30:43Speaker 1: an asshole. That'd be hilarious, George, all right, let's go
- 30:48Speaker 1: forward with your teeth. And then and then well, by
- 30:50Speaker 1: the way, funny story. So then one season Donald chose up.
- 30:54Speaker 1: He decided on his own. We could talk about this
- 30:56Speaker 1: some other time. We don't need to talk about this now. Well,
- 30:59Speaker 1: kind of just tease it later it tracks, it'll track,
- 31:02Speaker 1: all right. Donald shut up with braces on the inside
- 31:04Speaker 1: of his teeth and had a lisp, and Bill was like,
- 31:05Speaker 1: take your fucking braces off. What the hell you guys?
- 31:07Speaker 1: All right, let's there's like but there's like six episodes
- 31:09Speaker 1: where I'm talking like this the whole and Donald chose
- 31:13Speaker 1: up but he's like, I don't build. I don't think
- 31:15Speaker 1: anyone's gonna notice. And Bill's like, no one's gonna notice.
- 31:19Speaker 1: What the fuck are you doing? What'd you do? And
- 31:21Speaker 1: Donald's like, well, it's a brave but you can't see
- 31:25Speaker 1: him because they're on the in fife in my mouth. Okay,
- 31:28Speaker 1: all right, I don't even think that's a funny story, dude.
- 31:30Speaker 1: I think it's hilarious. All right, let's talk about Sarah
- 31:33Speaker 1: Chalk's entrance into the lounge room. Absolutely done, dune, duh.
- 31:37Speaker 1: The brilliant and beautiful Sarah Chalk. So I remember at
- 31:41Speaker 1: the audition saying Sarah and being like that's the girl
- 31:44Speaker 1: from Roseanne. Holy cow. Yeah second Becky, and thinking she's
- 31:50Speaker 1: definitely gonna get this part because that was the girl
- 31:53Speaker 1: from Roseanne, you know what I mean? Yeah, No, I
- 31:56Speaker 1: didn't know. I knew she was second Becky was as
- 31:58Speaker 1: as she jokingly called herself, and people called her because
- 32:01Speaker 1: she had replaced the original Becky, But I wasn't until
- 32:05Speaker 1: I read with her in front of Bill and then
- 32:07Speaker 1: I read there at my final Studio Network test that
- 32:10Speaker 1: I got to meet her, and I was just smitten.
- 32:13Speaker 1: I just thought she was so funny and so beautiful,
- 32:17Speaker 1: and that was one of my notes. Actually, you guys
- 32:19Speaker 1: had such great chemistry in the pilot, and it showed
- 32:23Speaker 1: on screen that, you know. I think that worked for
- 32:27Speaker 1: the remainder of the show because of you know, it's
- 32:33Speaker 1: hard to tell a will they won't they early on
- 32:36Speaker 1: in a pilot, you know what I mean, Like you
- 32:38Speaker 1: can say one person has a crush, but you both
- 32:42Speaker 1: kind of had a chemistry for each other in the pilots,
- 32:45Speaker 1: and it was undeniable, you know what I mean. So
- 32:47Speaker 1: like right away, you knew that at some point you
- 32:52Speaker 1: guys had to get together, you know what I mean,
- 32:54Speaker 1: even if it didn't work, you knew what you guys
- 32:56Speaker 1: had to get together. And then there was that scene
- 32:58Speaker 1: where and we're in the staircase and I'm supposed to
- 33:00Speaker 1: be looking at her butt going up and saying it
- 33:02Speaker 1: looks I never understood why two pringles, which is what
- 33:05Speaker 1: I say her, but your butt looks like two pringles hugging.
- 33:08Speaker 1: I never knew why they curve because it's a little Okay,
- 33:11Speaker 1: so a pringle isn't I don't know if it's a
- 33:13Speaker 1: compliment for a butt though, is it? My dude, I
- 33:17Speaker 1: was trying to tell me you don't appreciate around booty. No,
- 33:21Speaker 1: I love around booty. But I just don't know what
- 33:22Speaker 1: the hell are you talking about. But bro, you think
- 33:25Speaker 1: you think calling I would say like, oh, it looks
- 33:27Speaker 1: like a juicy peach. I wouldn't say it looks like
- 33:30Speaker 1: two pringles that are like sharp and breakable. Okay, let
- 33:36Speaker 1: me ask you a question. Would you how would you
- 33:38Speaker 1: describe a nice bottom like to a piece of food?
- 33:42Speaker 1: You would choose pringles? Well, I mean, I'm going, okay,
- 33:46Speaker 1: do we need to get into this? Well, you can
- 33:48Speaker 1: get it into this. You can say it in a
- 33:50Speaker 1: nice um political correct For a really long time, yes,
- 33:54Speaker 1: people of Caucasian colors, it didn't necessarily like to have
- 34:00Speaker 1: big round booties, and so a pringle being a tiny
- 34:05Speaker 1: curved right chip, right, did you put them together, they
- 34:09Speaker 1: look like a little tiny booty. So you're saying, because
- 34:13Speaker 1: she had a tiny white girl booty, it was pringly right.
- 34:18Speaker 1: Nowadays right because of certain actresses and Instagram models or
- 34:25Speaker 1: whatever it. Yes, everyone in a mama likes a round booty,
- 34:30Speaker 1: now a big round so is you're starting to put
- 34:34Speaker 1: fake booties, and that's starting to put fake stuff in
- 34:38Speaker 1: the buttox area to make the booty round. Now, I've
- 34:41Speaker 1: heard women really round booties already and decided, you know what,
- 34:46Speaker 1: it ain't round enough and took more to make it bigger.
- 34:51Speaker 1: I have a question for you about this. Yes, Now,
- 34:54Speaker 1: is your theory that certain famous influencers have influenced women
- 34:59Speaker 1: to to add not just exerc not just women, men too.
- 35:03Speaker 1: Men too. Now they exercise it. You can choose to
- 35:06Speaker 1: exercise and build up your booty. But you're saying that
- 35:08Speaker 1: people really do put put fake implants into their bottoms.
- 35:13Speaker 1: They not only put it into their bottoms, they put
- 35:16Speaker 1: it into their chest area, They put it into their abs,
- 35:19Speaker 1: they put it into their arms. There are so many
- 35:22Speaker 1: people out there where you're like, Wow, that dude works out,
- 35:24Speaker 1: or wow, she must really work out, and it's all enhancements.
- 35:28Speaker 1: Do you think men get ass implants? Absolutely? Could you
- 35:31Speaker 1: love a number for a doctor who does? That's true
- 35:36Speaker 1: because you got a little too buffalo behind. That's no,
- 35:38Speaker 1: it's small, it's it's very small. I was thinking the
- 35:41Speaker 1: other day that was the other thing that I noticed
- 35:42Speaker 1: about you that the first time I met you. But
- 35:45Speaker 1: really small booty. Oh you notice that it's a table
- 35:48Speaker 1: read Absolutely when you walked away anyway, gone. Now. I
- 35:52Speaker 1: just wrote down because there was a shot of her
- 35:53Speaker 1: butt and which I thought it looked beautiful, and then
- 35:56Speaker 1: I kind of thought about the line pringles and I
- 35:58Speaker 1: didn't fully understand it. Right, Let's move on from Sarah
- 36:01Speaker 1: and her glorious Let's talk about John C. McGinley. Yes,
- 36:04Speaker 1: let's doctor Cox. Wait before you get to Cox, I
- 36:08Speaker 1: want to talk about just I think Matt Winston is first.
- 36:12Speaker 1: So Matt Winston is the guy who's saying I'm a tool,
- 36:14Speaker 1: I'm a tool, I'm a tool. And I always thought
- 36:17Speaker 1: he was so frigging funny. In fact, I put him
- 36:19Speaker 1: in my film which I was here and a little
- 36:22Speaker 1: bit of trivia for the trivia buffs out there. He's
- 36:24Speaker 1: Stan Winston's son, the late great Stan Winston did you
- 36:27Speaker 1: know that Donald I did not know that. Yeah. Wow,
- 36:30Speaker 1: So he wasn't used a ton a Bill sort of
- 36:34Speaker 1: phased him out, although he did have a hilarious line
- 36:36Speaker 1: where he goes, it's like a baguette. I think when
- 36:38Speaker 1: he was talking about Kelsell's penis all right, So Johnny
- 36:41Speaker 1: c McGinley, I mean, where do we begin the legend?
- 36:44Speaker 1: The legend that I remember when we after the table read.
- 36:48Speaker 1: When I saw him at the table read, I was like,
- 36:50Speaker 1: I'm gonna stay clear of that guy. He's a little intimidating. Yeah,
- 36:53Speaker 1: he's a little scary. And then we did the rehearsals
- 36:57Speaker 1: at the hospital and I remember watching him and I
- 37:00Speaker 1: was like, I remember telling myself focus on him right
- 37:04Speaker 1: now because we're all, you know, kind of wide eyed
- 37:08Speaker 1: and don't necessarily know what it is we want to do.
- 37:12Speaker 1: He came into the game already with Cox like he
- 37:15Speaker 1: was like, this is how I'm going to play him.
- 37:17Speaker 1: This is how he's going to be, you know what
- 37:18Speaker 1: I mean. He knew right away what he was doing.
- 37:21Speaker 1: And I remember I was like, focus on that guy
- 37:23Speaker 1: because he seems to be already out the gate, you
- 37:26Speaker 1: know what I mean. He seems to be running already
- 37:28Speaker 1: where we're you know, getting a slow start, he's already
- 37:31Speaker 1: off and running. So focus on him and try and
- 37:33Speaker 1: match that energy that he has, and he nobody works harder.
- 37:36Speaker 1: I mean, Johnny throughout the course of the season had
- 37:38Speaker 1: those endless, really hard to do monologues, and he would
- 37:41Speaker 1: sometimes get him the night before and he would work
- 37:44Speaker 1: so hard. I mean, this is not a guy who
- 37:46Speaker 1: ever phoned in. I don't think Johnny ever flubbed a
- 37:49Speaker 1: line in nine years. I mean not sure he flubbed lines. Well,
- 37:52Speaker 1: I'm saying most rare, the least often of any of us.
- 37:57Speaker 1: And he was just so on it and so he
- 38:00Speaker 1: so made it his. You know, there's a thing in
- 38:02Speaker 1: acting where you say, like I I don't want to
- 38:04Speaker 1: just do it a generic way that anyone would do it.
- 38:05Speaker 1: I want to. I want to I want to make
- 38:07Speaker 1: it specific to me and make it mine. And a
- 38:09Speaker 1: lot of actors I think forced that, and so they
- 38:11Speaker 1: put all this shit onto it that isn't necessary. They're
- 38:13Speaker 1: just trying to be different, whereas some actors just do
- 38:15Speaker 1: that and as natural it feels right. And I think
- 38:17Speaker 1: Johnny's the ultimate example of that. He's someone who all
- 38:20Speaker 1: these characteristics and all the things, the gestures, that hands
- 38:23Speaker 1: on the back of his head, the touch in his nose,
- 38:26Speaker 1: like that's all just Johnny. That's all stuff that's so
- 38:28Speaker 1: specifically him that he brought to that part, you know, absolutely,
- 38:31Speaker 1: and he stayed consistent with it the whole time. Everything
- 38:35Speaker 1: he did, he was considered. Like we all evolved into
- 38:39Speaker 1: different characters as the show went on. If you watched
- 38:42Speaker 1: the show, we're very you know, uh you and I
- 38:45Speaker 1: when you know it's not as broad as the show
- 38:49Speaker 1: goes on. Johnny stayed consistent from the beginning. He was
- 38:52Speaker 1: the same level the whole time. And you really see
- 38:56Speaker 1: it in that first scene where he comes into the
- 38:59Speaker 1: brake room and is doing his thing, you know what
- 39:03Speaker 1: I mean. It's really interesting, you know, to go back
- 39:06Speaker 1: and watch now because when making it, you know, I
- 39:10Speaker 1: paid attention to him specifically because of who he was,
- 39:14Speaker 1: but to see how I evolved, to see how you evolved,
- 39:18Speaker 1: to see how Sarah evolved, to see how you know
- 39:20Speaker 1: what I mean, Judy evolved. Yeah, it really and all
- 39:25Speaker 1: from this pilot, you know what I mean. It's like
- 39:27Speaker 1: the pilot is a tame version of what Scrubs became.
- 39:31Speaker 1: You know what I mean. It's also there's things about it,
- 39:33Speaker 1: you know. I don't know if you noticed, but there's
- 39:34Speaker 1: things that are in the pilot that you can see
- 39:36Speaker 1: both Bill and Adam Burnsteing the director are figuring out
- 39:39Speaker 1: like that we eventually phased out like all the I
- 39:42Speaker 1: mean like there's like whip noises when Johnny turns his
- 39:45Speaker 1: head and there's like there's little there's like way more
- 39:48Speaker 1: sound effects early on. I think in the show that
- 39:51Speaker 1: they eventually toned down. But I mean that's a digression
- 39:54Speaker 1: from Johnny. So Johnny's just amazing and people always ask
- 39:57Speaker 1: what he's like, and I say, he literally is this
- 39:59Speaker 1: inten but he's just the most nice person you've ever met.
- 40:02Speaker 1: It's just like he's like picture that intensity of a
- 40:05Speaker 1: human being, but he's a super sweet and nice nothing
- 40:09Speaker 1: but love though that intensity with nothing but love. And
- 40:12Speaker 1: when he shakes your hand, he puts out his hand
- 40:14Speaker 1: and goes, there's five good ones for you, meaning his fingers. Yeah,
- 40:18Speaker 1: there's five good ones for you. Grab it and squeeze. Yeah.
- 40:22Speaker 1: He's got all sorts of sayings, but I'll never forget
- 40:24Speaker 1: there's five good ones for you. Yeah, that one and
- 40:27Speaker 1: the Amo in that Oh yeah, he will. We'd finish it.
- 40:30Speaker 1: We'd finish a scene in. One of our editor's names
- 40:33Speaker 1: was Jean Michelle, and he'd go, I think we gave
- 40:35Speaker 1: Jean Michelle's a mammo. All right, so let's go. The
- 40:41Speaker 1: next thing I wrote down, don't know if you have
- 40:43Speaker 1: anything before this, but was the sitcom fantasy I have
- 40:46Speaker 1: where I where I with Sarah on this? You de man?
- 40:51Speaker 1: So I don't even know what this was a sitcom
- 40:53Speaker 1: must have been on on NBC or something, or maybe ABC,
- 40:57Speaker 1: because but I don't remember. We borrowed some Actually, people
- 41:01Speaker 1: out there might who know the sitcom might recognize who
- 41:03Speaker 1: said it is, but we just went to an actual
- 41:06Speaker 1: set and shot the scene there because we didn't, you know,
- 41:08Speaker 1: it's the pilot. Was it like good Morning Miami or
- 41:10Speaker 1: something like that that could have been it. I don't know.
- 41:13Speaker 1: It probably was a pilot of the same of the
- 41:15Speaker 1: same season, right or something. And I remember this was
- 41:19Speaker 1: just surreal. We were in, like on a real sitcom stage.
- 41:21Speaker 1: And now, granted I have a huge crush on Sarah
- 41:23Speaker 1: and I'm doing my best to like hold it together,
- 41:26Speaker 1: and then all of a sudden, we're doing a scene
- 41:28Speaker 1: where she rips off her top and mounts me and
- 41:31Speaker 1: we make out. Yeah, you know what, back in the day,
- 41:33Speaker 1: I was like, Wow, she ripped off her top. That's
- 41:35Speaker 1: cutting edge. Now I look at it and I'm like, oh,
- 41:39Speaker 1: whoa did she have to rip off her top? Well,
- 41:42Speaker 1: I mean I think the show you have to look
- 41:43Speaker 1: at it in the context of the year. I mean,
- 41:46Speaker 1: everybody forgets now because we have all this everything streaming
- 41:49Speaker 1: and cable and everything's so much more risque, and you
- 41:52Speaker 1: go to you seek out whatever you watch. I mean,
- 41:56Speaker 1: from the Show Girls, the Crazy show they would do
- 41:59Speaker 1: on there, to everything and anything that's on Netflix now.
- 42:03Speaker 1: But back in the day, you know, I think Bill
- 42:05Speaker 1: was trying to push the envelope. The show was on
- 42:07Speaker 1: at nine or nine thirty. He was trying to push
- 42:09Speaker 1: the omblope what you could do on network television. So
- 42:12Speaker 1: both with being politically incorrected times, both with sex with language.
- 42:18Speaker 1: I mean, he was trying to say, like, hey, network,
- 42:20Speaker 1: you can compete and be a little bit, you know, risque,
- 42:24Speaker 1: and so this for the time was pretty risque. I
- 42:26Speaker 1: mean it was there's a lot of sex in the show.
- 42:28Speaker 1: You know, it's funny. I have I'm sure you do.
- 42:30Speaker 1: You have people who go, hey, I'm I'm I'm showing
- 42:32Speaker 1: my kids Scrubs and I can't even be in the
- 42:34Speaker 1: same room. It's so awkward because it's because there was
- 42:36Speaker 1: a lot of sex in the show. No, I don't
- 42:38Speaker 1: you know, I don't let my kids watch Scrubs. Well,
- 42:41Speaker 1: your kids are your kids are too young. But I'm saying,
- 42:43Speaker 1: like I got a six year old and a four
- 42:44Speaker 1: year old watching. I didn't mean your kids. I mean,
- 42:48Speaker 1: like like Matt Tarsus, who was one of the writers,
- 42:50Speaker 1: he told me that his son, who was a teenager,
- 42:52Speaker 1: was watching the show and he's like, I had to
- 42:53Speaker 1: walk out of the room. It was like watching like
- 42:55Speaker 1: you and Sarah have these sex scenes, like that episode
- 42:57Speaker 1: where we were eating pizza and we're like, hang, okay,
- 43:06Speaker 1: you know that's that is true. Sarah did have to
- 43:13Speaker 1: take her top off. But I'm gonna be honest with you.
- 43:16Speaker 1: I think the guys on the show, we're way more
- 43:19Speaker 1: naked than the females were on the show. You know
- 43:21Speaker 1: what I mean? Between you so much, your body looks fierce.
- 43:27Speaker 1: Thank you, like Tay Diggs, baby, like Tay Diggs. You know,
- 43:31Speaker 1: you know funny bit of trivia. Rob Maschio, who was
- 43:33Speaker 1: often only in his banana hammock and worked very hard
- 43:37Speaker 1: to maintain that physique do all sorts of push ups
- 43:40Speaker 1: and stuff. When the show moved from whatever season from
- 43:43Speaker 1: NBC to ABC, which is owned by Disney, they made
- 43:46Speaker 1: a rule that we could no longer film him from
- 43:48Speaker 1: the waist down when he was in his banana hammock.
- 43:50Speaker 1: Did you know that bit of trivia? I didn't know
- 43:52Speaker 1: that bit of trivia. I also, I remember, and we'll
- 43:56Speaker 1: discuss this later on, but there were times where we
- 43:58Speaker 1: were actually really nai because it had to be that
- 44:01Speaker 1: way for the camera. Wait, you didn't have like a
- 44:04Speaker 1: sock on your penis. I did one time. I did
- 44:06Speaker 1: have a sock on my penis, and I remember having
- 44:08Speaker 1: to walk into parking lot with a bunch of people
- 44:12Speaker 1: on my penis. Yeah, I remember. Not only that, Not
- 44:14Speaker 1: only that I had, I had also a very big leaf,
- 44:17Speaker 1: very big leaf. It was a big leaf, first of all,
- 44:20Speaker 1: a large like an over leaf. It was like it
- 44:22Speaker 1: was like a maple leaf, like a huge maple leaf.
- 44:25Speaker 1: It wasn't like one of those thin like bamboo. No, no no, no,
- 44:27Speaker 1: it wasn't like it wasn't like a eucalyptus leaf. It
- 44:29Speaker 1: was a It was like a maple leaf. To cover
- 44:33Speaker 1: my job. No one has ever bragged about their sexual
- 44:35Speaker 1: prowess through leaf side, so that's a first for our podcast.
- 44:38Speaker 1: I do want to say that. Um I once there's
- 44:40Speaker 1: a scene where I was dancing in front of Tara
- 44:42Speaker 1: Reid and I was supposed to be naked and they
- 44:45Speaker 1: were shooting me from behind, and so I just I
- 44:47Speaker 1: packed everything I had into a sock and I was
- 44:50Speaker 1: doing the dance in front of Tara Reid, remember that?
- 44:53Speaker 1: And then and then the sock came off, and then
- 44:55Speaker 1: I was like, what is the real experience? There's Tara
- 44:58Speaker 1: Reid just staring at my junk. Oh my gosh. Yeah, Oh,
- 45:06Speaker 1: I mean, what am I gonna do? I apologized and
- 45:08Speaker 1: and all right, So we got a caller on, wait,
- 45:11Speaker 1: why are you interrupting? I want to I just want
- 45:13Speaker 1: to say that it was a tube sock. It much
- 45:15Speaker 1: like your leaf analogy. It was not it wasn't It
- 45:17Speaker 1: wasn't a dress sock. It was a you know those
- 45:19Speaker 1: little those little socks people now where they're just like
- 45:21Speaker 1: go for There wasn't an ankle sock. It was a
- 45:22Speaker 1: tube sock. What do they call those things that just
- 45:24Speaker 1: go with socks? It was a tube so it was
- 45:27Speaker 1: a tube sock. I gotta say, we're basing your boys.
- 45:30Speaker 1: It was a man a long one, so we got
- 45:34Speaker 1: a call It was a woman's thigh high. Okay, So
- 45:42Speaker 1: I don't mean to interrupt you, Zack, but we got
- 45:43Speaker 1: a caller on. This is exciting because I I daydreamed
- 45:47Speaker 1: when we said we were going to do this, that
- 45:48Speaker 1: we should take fan questions from all around the world,
- 45:51Speaker 1: and it's really happening. So go ahead, Donald, and I'd
- 45:55Speaker 1: like to introduce Chris to the podcast. Chris, how are
- 46:00Speaker 1: you hi, Chris? How's it Kellen, Guys, I'm doing well.
- 46:03Speaker 1: Thank you for having me on very first guest. So
- 46:07Speaker 1: we really want to nail this. We want to give
- 46:08Speaker 1: you the best answer to your question. That's that's ever
- 46:11Speaker 1: been given to any question throughout the history. Okay, got
- 46:15Speaker 1: you that's here that no pressure exactly. Um, all right,
- 46:20Speaker 1: I guess the question I'll ask you all This one
- 46:23Speaker 1: comes from a buddy of mine named Andrew. A question
- 46:25Speaker 1: about the soundtrack. I think that's something that was such
- 46:28Speaker 1: like an iconic part of the show. Um, just across
- 46:31Speaker 1: all the seasons, you introduced so many people to so
- 46:33Speaker 1: many awesome artists over the years. Was that something was
- 46:36Speaker 1: there someone that spearheaded that did you guys just have
- 46:38Speaker 1: great taste? Like, how did you come up with this soundtrack?
- 46:41Speaker 1: It was all me, It was all Donald had nothing
- 46:43Speaker 1: to do with it. Let me just I literally had
- 46:45Speaker 1: nothing to do with it. Yeah, because at that time
- 46:47Speaker 1: I was here, Did you ever get a song on ever? No?
- 46:50Speaker 1: Because I was listening to songs like Joda see Uh.
- 46:54Speaker 1: I was listening to you know uh songs by Wu
- 46:57Speaker 1: Tang Clan, you know what I mean. Weren't things like that? Yeah,
- 47:00Speaker 1: so D took the music. A matter of fact, a
- 47:06Speaker 1: lot of the artists that were on the show I
- 47:08Speaker 1: was introduced to for the first time while watching the show.
- 47:12Speaker 1: So who who do we have on a show? Keene?
- 47:15Speaker 1: All these people I had no idea who they were,
- 47:18Speaker 1: you know what I mean? And some artists that were
- 47:19Speaker 1: well known. I just didn't listen to that type of
- 47:21Speaker 1: music at the time. It wasn't until Scrubs that all
- 47:23Speaker 1: of a sudden started listening to Indian folk rock, you
- 47:27Speaker 1: know what I mean? Yeah, I think that you know,
- 47:28Speaker 1: first of all was a lot of people. It was
- 47:30Speaker 1: definitely Bill Lawrence obviously who created the show, and his
- 47:33Speaker 1: wife Krista Miller who played Jordan, and and myself. I
- 47:38Speaker 1: think we were the three probably the main people, but
- 47:40Speaker 1: also a lot of the writers in the writer's room.
- 47:42Speaker 1: A lot of times when it was their script, they'd
- 47:44Speaker 1: go a lot of people. But and of course the
- 47:46Speaker 1: editors who would who would you know? They the editors
- 47:48Speaker 1: would get like ten ideas and they'd be the ones
- 47:50Speaker 1: to try and and shape it to see what would
- 47:53Speaker 1: work the best. So there was a bunch of us,
- 47:55Speaker 1: but um, Christi Miller definitely did a lot of song choosing,
- 47:58Speaker 1: and I got a bunch on myself that I'm excited about.
- 48:02Speaker 1: Our best friend, Uh, Joshua Ding got his start really
- 48:08Speaker 1: before Scrubs. What was josh doing? He was sleeping on
- 48:11Speaker 1: my couch, was he really? Yeah? I mean he didn't
- 48:13Speaker 1: even have a job. And he had written the song Winter,
- 48:16Speaker 1: which we played um in the episode where Breton Frasier's
- 48:19Speaker 1: character dies spoiler and uh and yeah, w Winter was
- 48:25Speaker 1: so popular that that it launched a career for josh
- 48:28Speaker 1: and everyone was like, what other songs do you have?
- 48:30Speaker 1: And He's like, that's the only song I've ever written,
- 48:33Speaker 1: and so he had to like frantically make an album. Yeah.
- 48:36Speaker 1: I remember going to watch him at two concerts with
- 48:39Speaker 1: like me, Zach my girlfriend at the time, Zach's girlfriend
- 48:44Speaker 1: at the time, and that was it. Yeah, and now
- 48:47Speaker 1: he sells out, you know, he does. He does really
- 48:50Speaker 1: really well. Um, so that's it. It was a lot
- 48:52Speaker 1: of fun, you know it. I think Bill was early
- 48:55Speaker 1: on in putting music at the you know, now it's
- 48:57Speaker 1: become very popular and very common to sort of end
- 49:02Speaker 1: your episode of TV with an emotional piece of music
- 49:06Speaker 1: and then cut around in a montage and watch how everyone,
- 49:10Speaker 1: you know, what they learned from the episode. And I
- 49:13Speaker 1: think Bill was at the forefront of doing that definitely,
- 49:16Speaker 1: because you know now now it's pretty commonplace. But I
- 49:19Speaker 1: think Scrubs was kind of one of the first shows
- 49:21Speaker 1: to do that, you know. I like to think The
- 49:23Speaker 1: Wonder Years was, Yeah, he would be was a was
- 49:26Speaker 1: an early version of what single camera comedy. I mean,
- 49:31Speaker 1: mash obviously, but The Wonder Years really took its the
- 49:36Speaker 1: time that it was in and use the music of
- 49:39Speaker 1: that time to help tell the story. And Scrubs I
- 49:43Speaker 1: feel like it's the next thing to do that. And
- 49:45Speaker 1: then yeah, and Alan McBeal also Ally mcbell. I think
- 49:49Speaker 1: Bill would say that. I remember the show, Ally mcbell,
- 49:51Speaker 1: they cut a way to cut away to wacky shit.
- 49:53Speaker 1: I mean, I think Scrubs meets Scrubs is sort of
- 49:56Speaker 1: Ally mcbell meets Mash meets Wonder Years. Right, all right,
- 49:59Speaker 1: do we answer your question? Yeah? That was awesome, Thank
- 50:01Speaker 1: you so much. Do you have another one? We'll give
- 50:03Speaker 1: you another one. Yeah, we'll give you another question. All right,
- 50:06Speaker 1: I've got a two part question. It's kind of common
- 50:09Speaker 1: knowledge now that the Janitor wasn't supposed to make a
- 50:11Speaker 1: past season one. He was supposed to be a figment
- 50:13Speaker 1: of Jad's imagination. Yeah, so two part or here one,
- 50:17Speaker 1: how was that supposed to be written in? How is
- 50:19Speaker 1: it going to come to be known that the janitor was,
- 50:21Speaker 1: you know, just a figment of the imagination. And then
- 50:23Speaker 1: the second part of that is is there any plotline
- 50:26Speaker 1: that didn't come to fruition that you really wish did? Yeah?
- 50:29Speaker 1: I know that, but wait, I just want to say
- 50:30Speaker 1: we're gonna have Bill on for everyone. Bill will probably
- 50:33Speaker 1: our first guest because he can answer all sorts of
- 50:36Speaker 1: questions about what his plan was for the writing and such.
- 50:40Speaker 1: But I do remember that Neil Flynn. First of all,
- 50:42Speaker 1: I was going to talk about this when we got
- 50:43Speaker 1: to Neil in the pilot. But Neil was supposed to
- 50:45Speaker 1: just have a small part. He wasn't. Bill wasn't even
- 50:48Speaker 1: intending that he was going to be in the show
- 50:49Speaker 1: beyond the pilot or maybe a few episodes. But he
- 50:53Speaker 1: was so hilarious that Bill just kept adding him and
- 50:56Speaker 1: adding him and adding him, and to the point where
- 50:59Speaker 1: he was one became one of the stars of the show.
- 51:01Speaker 1: And Neil is a hilarious improvisational actor, and so a
- 51:05Speaker 1: lot of times he would just make up his own
- 51:07Speaker 1: line throughout the whole run of the show. And in fact,
- 51:09Speaker 1: it got to a point where and sometimes in the
- 51:10Speaker 1: script it would just say like and then Neil makes
- 51:12Speaker 1: up something funny like it wouldn't even have a line
- 51:15Speaker 1: for him, because Nia was just so gifted and hilarious. Well,
- 51:19Speaker 1: that whole scene was, that whole scene improved with you
- 51:22Speaker 1: and him. The penny in the door was all written.
- 51:25Speaker 1: But I'm saying, like right off the bat, everybody could
- 51:28Speaker 1: tell like, this guy Neil Flynn is really funny, and
- 51:30Speaker 1: he's got to be more in the show. And you know,
- 51:33Speaker 1: Bill would kind of try people out, and when they
- 51:34Speaker 1: killed it, he'd keep using him, you know, just like
- 51:36Speaker 1: you like all the people that fans grew to love,
- 51:39Speaker 1: like you know, Phil Lewis Hooch, Like we'd all thought
- 51:42Speaker 1: he was so freaking hilarious. We just kept putting him
- 51:44Speaker 1: in the show whenever we could. So anyway, long story short,
- 51:48Speaker 1: if you I think throughout season one the janitor only
- 51:51Speaker 1: addresses me if I'm not mistaken. So so Bill kind
- 51:56Speaker 1: of had the idea, like, oh my god, if this
- 51:58Speaker 1: doesn't go too long, it might be funny to do
- 52:00Speaker 1: a big reveal that the janitor is totally in in
- 52:04Speaker 1: uh in Jad's imagination. But then how crazy would that
- 52:07Speaker 1: have made? J d though you would have been like
- 52:08Speaker 1: a freaking psycho dude. You would have look at look
- 52:12Speaker 1: at nine years of wacky fantasies, remember when you were
- 52:14Speaker 1: a goat. Yeah, dude, but it was a fantasy. These
- 52:17Speaker 1: were fantasies. If if you actually had somebody that you
- 52:21Speaker 1: an imaginary friend that you talked to and would talk
- 52:24Speaker 1: back to you, and you're a doctor, I know, I
- 52:29Speaker 1: think it could have been cool. But but anyway, the
- 52:31Speaker 1: point was that the show kept going and Bill. I
- 52:33Speaker 1: remember Bill. I heard Bill say like, I had to,
- 52:35Speaker 1: I had to have this guy interact with other people
- 52:36Speaker 1: because it was like, you know, and then it became
- 52:38Speaker 1: you know, he wanted to. I think fans also wanted
- 52:41Speaker 1: to see the character of the Janitor interact with people,
- 52:44Speaker 1: although you never knew his name or did you name
- 52:47Speaker 1: is Janitor or was it Glenn Matthews? Did we answer
- 52:50Speaker 1: the second part of the question, Oh, storylines? Um, we did.
- 52:53Speaker 1: We did a medicinal marijuana um long before it's time.
- 52:57Speaker 1: We did a medicinal marijuana plot line and start shooting
- 53:00Speaker 1: it and then the studio told Bill to shut it down. Yeah,
- 53:06Speaker 1: it's funny because of course, now marijuana is legal in
- 53:09Speaker 1: California and so many other places. Well, it had just
- 53:11Speaker 1: remember it had just started becoming legal at the time
- 53:16Speaker 1: when we're fi. Yeah, I remember, I do remember that
- 53:20Speaker 1: because there were a lot of people that were smoking weed. Wow,
- 53:24Speaker 1: we probably shouldn't bring that up in the In the
- 53:25Speaker 1: first episode of this, let's get to how high everybody
- 53:28Speaker 1: was in future episodes were a tease something I'm just
- 53:31Speaker 1: saying that was a tease. Okay, in future episodes, Donald
- 53:34Speaker 1: will out people for who was Big Twin. All right,
- 53:37Speaker 1: thank you Chris. We're gonna thank you Chris, thanks for
- 53:42Speaker 1: being our first guest. That would be so funny. That
- 53:50Speaker 1: would be so funny if that's how we did it.
- 53:53Speaker 1: In that scene, he's high. I think you need to
- 53:57Speaker 1: come clean. When we get two scenes where you were baked,
- 54:00Speaker 1: that'll be like the whole series run. Okay, great? Um,
- 54:03Speaker 1: how long into the series did you stop memorizing your lines?
- 54:08Speaker 1: H D. We'll talk about that in future episodes to
- 54:16Speaker 1: come as well. Oh, I wanted to say, um, the
- 54:19Speaker 1: scene with Johnny in the in the in the lounge, Um,
- 54:21Speaker 1: with the with the woman that that was my audition
- 54:24Speaker 1: scene where Johnny comes in with the woman he says
- 54:26Speaker 1: is dead and he's telling me to throw tile in
- 54:29Speaker 1: all her face. That was one of the main I
- 54:31Speaker 1: think one of the three scenes that I auditioned with.
- 54:33Speaker 1: What was your audition scenes? Do you remember My audition
- 54:36Speaker 1: scene was I'm really scared. I'm so happy that I
- 54:39Speaker 1: get to wear a surgical masks a mask because if
- 54:43Speaker 1: I didn't have it on, my face would look like this.
- 54:45Speaker 1: And then I make the scared face. Yeah, that was
- 54:48Speaker 1: one of my audition scenes. And then and did you
- 54:52Speaker 1: improv I love you? Or is that in the script? No,
- 54:54Speaker 1: we improv that. Bill came up to me. It was
- 54:56Speaker 1: like telling me you love him at the end. That
- 54:57Speaker 1: was funny and I was like, what he just say
- 55:00Speaker 1: it and then laugh when you are And then Lonnie,
- 55:02Speaker 1: by the way, everyone that's Lonnie's playing. Lonnie's playing the
- 55:05Speaker 1: pizza delivery. I had no idea that was him until
- 55:08Speaker 1: watching the pilot. So Lonnie Lonnie exists. It's is one
- 55:12Speaker 1: of the few people that exists as two different characters
- 55:14Speaker 1: in the Scrubs universe. I feel like it's three different characters.
- 55:16Speaker 1: But yeah, okay, why there's Lonnie, there's pizza delivery guy?
- 55:21Speaker 1: And who was a was Lonnie also the guy that
- 55:23Speaker 1: played basketball? I don't remember. Okay, anyway, scrubstns won't answer
- 55:27Speaker 1: for us. But yeah, that was very funny. I love
- 55:29Speaker 1: that when you say I love you, he looks. We
- 55:31Speaker 1: both look at you, like what UM say it to
- 55:36Speaker 1: you all the time. And this scene also, the woman
- 55:39Speaker 1: was supposed to be really dead, and I remember the
- 55:42Speaker 1: network pushed back against Bill and said, no, you can't
- 55:45Speaker 1: have her really genuinely pushing around a dead woman. Um,
- 55:49Speaker 1: you have to have her at the end go I'm
- 55:51Speaker 1: not really dead. So that was a rewrite forced by
- 55:53Speaker 1: the network because Bill thought it was funny if he
- 55:55Speaker 1: really was just pushing around a corpse. Very funny too.
- 55:58Speaker 1: I want to talk about Ken Jenkins second, Yes, because
- 56:01Speaker 1: I feel like he was the MVP of our show,
- 56:03Speaker 1: you know what I mean? Yeah, in so many ways, like, uh,
- 56:08Speaker 1: it's really difficult to be on a show with such
- 56:12Speaker 1: a huge ensemble cast where everyone is likable, from the
- 56:17Speaker 1: lead all the way down to the guest stars. Everyone's likable.
- 56:22Speaker 1: I think the hardest part, the hardest person to play
- 56:26Speaker 1: in all of that would be the bad guy, you
- 56:28Speaker 1: know what I mean. And he made it so that
- 56:31Speaker 1: the bad guy you didn't like him, but you still
- 56:35Speaker 1: loved him, you know what I mean. And I felt
- 56:39Speaker 1: like he was literally the MVP. Him and Judy Rays
- 56:42Speaker 1: actually were the MVPs of the show because Judy had
- 56:45Speaker 1: to tackle all of the dramatic stuff, you know what
- 56:47Speaker 1: I mean, Her character felt everything. She was the nurse,
- 56:51Speaker 1: she was the mother of the hospital. And Ken Jenkins,
- 56:55Speaker 1: his character was the evil dad or the you know
- 56:58Speaker 1: what I mean the grandpa who was just over it
- 57:01Speaker 1: all and was like, I just you know, I want
- 57:05Speaker 1: this hospital to make money. We're broke, and all that
- 57:09Speaker 1: matters is if their insurance is going to pay for it.
- 57:11Speaker 1: If it's if they're not, get them out of here
- 57:13Speaker 1: because we're I we're broke. We got no dough. And
- 57:17Speaker 1: I thought to make those two to make that character
- 57:21Speaker 1: lovable is a really really, really hard thing to do,
- 57:25Speaker 1: and he did it effortlessly, it seemed like in my eyes.
- 57:28Speaker 1: And uh, and same thing with Judy, you know what
- 57:30Speaker 1: I mean. Judy would played the role that uh was
- 57:34Speaker 1: definitely needed in this band of misfits. She played this
- 57:37Speaker 1: character that was uh just motherly and UH took care
- 57:44Speaker 1: of you know, Bamby came from that. That's that that
- 57:47Speaker 1: stuck throughout the whole show. You being called Bambi. Yeah,
- 57:51Speaker 1: I noticed that. Her very first line that comes out
- 57:53Speaker 1: of her mouth is calling me Bamby. I didn't I
- 57:55Speaker 1: didn't know that. It's I didn't remember that, but that
- 57:57Speaker 1: stuck for the whole run of the show. And of
- 57:59Speaker 1: course will still call me that on the street when
- 58:01Speaker 1: I'm past them. Um, but her very first line is
- 58:04Speaker 1: calling me Bambi, Yeah, you know what I mean. And
- 58:06Speaker 1: it was it was just we knew what we were
- 58:09Speaker 1: there to do. We're here to be funny, and we're
- 58:11Speaker 1: here to make everybody laugh, and you know, and and
- 58:14Speaker 1: at times we're going to get dramatic and everything like that.
- 58:17Speaker 1: But Judy and Ken had the tough roles. In my opinion,
- 58:21Speaker 1: you knew Judy was supposed to make everybody feel safe.
- 58:24Speaker 1: Ken was supposed to make everybody feel anger, you know
- 58:28Speaker 1: what I mean, in this in this crazy world. And
- 58:30Speaker 1: they did it so perfectly. And and Ken had a
- 58:33Speaker 1: lot of the you know, social commentary that Bill was
- 58:35Speaker 1: trying to get in there about how fucked up the
- 58:36Speaker 1: healthcare system is and how how how fucked up it
- 58:39Speaker 1: is that hospitals are like no insurance, get him out
- 58:42Speaker 1: of here, like you know, what do you like right
- 58:44Speaker 1: away in the pilot. Of course, these issues are so
- 58:48Speaker 1: relevant today more than ever. But right away in the
- 58:50Speaker 1: pilot you have them going, look, I don't care that
- 58:53Speaker 1: you know nothing. Let me tell you a couple of things.
- 58:55Speaker 1: If they don't have insurance, get them out of here,
- 58:57Speaker 1: and uh and and and and Bill geniusly found a
- 59:01Speaker 1: way to make that. Of course, Ken Jenkins as an actor. Together,
- 59:05Speaker 1: they found a way to make that character so lovable
- 59:07Speaker 1: even though he was a he was the antagonist. Yeah,
- 59:11Speaker 1: I want to talk about thirteen minutes in thirty eight seconds.
- 59:13Speaker 1: I'm looking at a still of you making out with
- 59:15Speaker 1: Judy reyes um And and Todd in the frame I
- 59:19Speaker 1: have up. Todd is watching because it's part of the fantasy.
- 59:22Speaker 1: Why so, what was it like? You know, I think
- 59:26Speaker 1: people who aren't actors are always curious what it's like
- 59:28Speaker 1: when you meet someone. Hey, nice to meet you, and
- 59:29Speaker 1: then all of a sudden you have to just go
- 59:30Speaker 1: do a fake makeout scene with that. I feel like
- 59:32Speaker 1: that was the first day I met Judy too, and really, yeah,
- 59:35Speaker 1: I feel like that was our first scene together and
- 59:39Speaker 1: I hadn't you know, I remember me. I don't remember
- 59:42Speaker 1: Neil at the table read. I don't remember Judy, I
- 59:46Speaker 1: don't remember Ken at the table read. I remember me, you,
- 59:49Speaker 1: Johnny and Sarah for some reason. And so when we
- 59:53Speaker 1: did the makeout scene, I feel like that was my
- 59:57Speaker 1: I know, it's not the first day I met her,
- 59:59Speaker 1: but that's my first real memory of Judy, you know
- 1:00:02Speaker 1: what I mean? And I remember she smoked cigarettes right
- 1:00:05Speaker 1: before the scene, and I was like, Ah, that's a
- 1:00:09Speaker 1: power move, that's a power move. That's how you do
- 1:00:11Speaker 1: But I realized that's how you do it. If you're
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: gonna make out with somebody, make it so they gotta work,
- 1:00:18Speaker 1: and not make it so it's them having a great
- 1:00:21Speaker 1: time making out. No, this is a job, dude. This isn't.
- 1:00:24Speaker 1: This isn't This isn't you getting your rocks off while
- 1:00:27Speaker 1: we're doing this scene. It's funny to think about someone smoking,
- 1:00:30Speaker 1: like I mean, I don't do you know any I mean,
- 1:00:33Speaker 1: it's rare to see anyone smoking cigarettes at all anymore.
- 1:00:36Speaker 1: Oh no, there are a lot of people that still
- 1:00:38Speaker 1: smoke cigarettes. Not vaping has turned into the worst vaping
- 1:00:43Speaker 1: of course. But just the idea that Judy was, I
- 1:00:46Speaker 1: guess a smoker when we started, right, I was a
- 1:00:49Speaker 1: smoker when we started. I smoke started and Neil was
- 1:00:52Speaker 1: always a smoker. Yeah, when we started doing the show,
- 1:00:56Speaker 1: I think a lot of us smoked cigarette. I mean
- 1:00:58Speaker 1: in the cast maybe you, Sarah and Johnny and Ken didn't,
- 1:01:02Speaker 1: but everyone else did. Yeah, I didn't remember that. And
- 1:01:05Speaker 1: then us doing the kissing stuff and then watching the
- 1:01:08Speaker 1: episode and none of that made the show. Really, all
- 1:01:11Speaker 1: it is is me, we're kind of cuddled up together.
- 1:01:15Speaker 1: We're kind of cuddled up together, and and Rob's over
- 1:01:19Speaker 1: us watching. But I remember doing the scene if feeling
- 1:01:23Speaker 1: way more intimate than that, you know what I mean,
- 1:01:25Speaker 1: way more you know what I mean, and then watching
- 1:01:27Speaker 1: it being like, oh, they didn't use any other other
- 1:01:29Speaker 1: good stuff, right, Well it's a really quick moment. And
- 1:01:32Speaker 1: I love that she's I love that you're naked, and
- 1:01:34Speaker 1: she's like, all right, thanks, I'm out. I thought that
- 1:01:36Speaker 1: was a cool like introduction of her character. She was like,
- 1:01:39Speaker 1: and I also and I also liked that your imagination
- 1:01:43Speaker 1: was me scoring right in reality the real what really
- 1:01:47Speaker 1: happened was I got played and then got turned into
- 1:01:51Speaker 1: you know, I got you know, I stripped down for someone, right,
- 1:01:54Speaker 1: And she was like she got you know, she just
- 1:01:56Speaker 1: wanted to make out with someone and be like later
- 1:01:58Speaker 1: and she like she was like she kind of like
- 1:02:00Speaker 1: used you, whereas in my imagination you were using her
- 1:02:03Speaker 1: where right? Yeah? That was clever. Yeah. Um, I wanted
- 1:02:06Speaker 1: to quote talk about that it's going backwards, but that
- 1:02:08Speaker 1: deer in headlight thing, I still have the foam antlers.
- 1:02:12Speaker 1: Uh Um, I'm staring at them right now, um from
- 1:02:16Speaker 1: that fantasy where I'm imagine I'm a deer in headlights.
- 1:02:19Speaker 1: And and what we had to do was they backed
- 1:02:21Speaker 1: the macup, the big semi, right up to my face.
- 1:02:25Speaker 1: And the idea was for the truck would floor it
- 1:02:28Speaker 1: in reverse and and then we play and then we'd
- 1:02:32Speaker 1: play it backwards right so it looked like it was
- 1:02:34Speaker 1: hit and then of course it hit a mannequin too,
- 1:02:35Speaker 1: but for this one shot. And I remember standing there
- 1:02:37Speaker 1: with my face against the grill of a Mac truck
- 1:02:40Speaker 1: and being like leaning out to the driver, being like
- 1:02:43Speaker 1: you sure it's in reverse? Right, Like like there had
- 1:02:46Speaker 1: to be some OSHA rule against that, but I but
- 1:02:49Speaker 1: I was like standing there going if this dude, Like
- 1:02:51Speaker 1: I don't want to cause any waves or anything, but
- 1:02:53Speaker 1: I just want to double check you're in reverse. We
- 1:02:57Speaker 1: have finally saving a life. Oh we have a Loma.
- 1:02:59Speaker 1: We should about a looma right, the beautiful and talented
- 1:03:01Speaker 1: Aloma right who played Nurse Roberts. Nurse Roberts, who who
- 1:03:06Speaker 1: whose introduction in the show is you know amazing? Can
- 1:03:10Speaker 1: you just call him so I can go home? Please? Yeah?
- 1:03:13Speaker 1: Can you just call She's so good? And and Aloma
- 1:03:16Speaker 1: was one of the again another example of someone who
- 1:03:18Speaker 1: Bill just loved and thought was so talented, and she
- 1:03:21Speaker 1: you know, ended up being in the whole show until
- 1:03:24Speaker 1: he eventually killed her off, felt bad and brought her
- 1:03:26Speaker 1: back as her twin sister, which we'll get to that
- 1:03:28Speaker 1: and later after lavernadcast Lavern again, I'm gonna call you
- 1:03:33Speaker 1: Laverne again. So we were thinking of like trying to
- 1:03:37Speaker 1: summarize what the lesson of the episode was, But I mean,
- 1:03:40Speaker 1: I think the episode, the lesson of the of the
- 1:03:42Speaker 1: pilot was basically the theme song, which is I can't
- 1:03:45Speaker 1: do this all on my own, right. I mean, it's
- 1:03:47Speaker 1: the introduction of how difficult it is to be a
- 1:03:53Speaker 1: doctor in a hospital and how the medical staff at
- 1:03:57Speaker 1: a hospital really depends on each there to work. Yeah,
- 1:04:02Speaker 1: and I think I think, I mean, I don't think
- 1:04:04Speaker 1: it's a big leap to say that a lot of
- 1:04:05Speaker 1: people related to the show because they can see that
- 1:04:08Speaker 1: on their own lives and how you turn to your
- 1:04:10Speaker 1: friends and your family. I mean, I think the show
- 1:04:12Speaker 1: can be, as we all know, can be very very heartwarming,
- 1:04:15Speaker 1: and that was what builded so geniusly, was how it'd
- 1:04:18Speaker 1: be so funny and crazy and silly and fantasies and everything,
- 1:04:21Speaker 1: and then all of a sudden you can turn a
- 1:04:22Speaker 1: corner and you're losing a patient like I did at
- 1:04:24Speaker 1: the end, or or or or you see that our
- 1:04:27Speaker 1: friendship is so pure, is still solid, also conquering fear,
- 1:04:33Speaker 1: you know what I mean. JD was so afraid to
- 1:04:37Speaker 1: do everything. As a matter of fact, him and Elliot
- 1:04:40Speaker 1: hide in a closet at one point and U doctor
- 1:04:43Speaker 1: Cox catches them doing it and understands why they are afraid.
- 1:04:48Speaker 1: But then at the end of the show, still gives
- 1:04:50Speaker 1: JD the confidence to perform whatever it is you did
- 1:04:56Speaker 1: with the tube and the blood and all of that stuff,
- 1:04:59Speaker 1: something that you know, JD was very afraid of, and
- 1:05:03Speaker 1: UH made him feel like he was going to be okay,
- 1:05:07Speaker 1: and he was, and he had a support group around him. Yeah,
- 1:05:11Speaker 1: And I think that's it. That's that's the pilot. I
- 1:05:14Speaker 1: think we just we just did it. We did our
- 1:05:15Speaker 1: first podcast. I love you and I love you so
- 1:05:19Speaker 1: hey listen, if you're a fan and you made it
- 1:05:20Speaker 1: to the end, thank you. We want we're gonna keep
- 1:05:22Speaker 1: doing this. We want you to watch the show with us.
- 1:05:25Speaker 1: We're gonna do this every week and UM, and you
- 1:05:28Speaker 1: can just join us, tell your friends, and every week
- 1:05:31Speaker 1: we're gonna go through another episode and we're gonna take
- 1:05:36Speaker 1: a fan question. If you have a fan question, Donald,
- 1:05:39Speaker 1: we have set up a Gmail account the iHeart people have, right,
- 1:05:43Speaker 1: and that account is that account is Scrubs. iHeart at
- 1:05:47Speaker 1: gmail dot com, So Scrubs and then I heart at
- 1:05:54Speaker 1: gmail dot com and so said thank you. We want
- 1:05:58Speaker 1: you to submit question and then our our beautiful producers
- 1:06:03Speaker 1: here will will work out all logistics and um, and
- 1:06:07Speaker 1: we'll have you on. We're gonna take a question each podcast.
- 1:06:09Speaker 1: We're gonna have guests on. We're gonna start having fellow
- 1:06:11Speaker 1: cast members. We're obviously gonna have our creator of the show,
- 1:06:14Speaker 1: Bill Lawrence on. Who else we're gonna have on Donald,
- 1:06:16Speaker 1: Some of the goodness we're going after, you know, even
- 1:06:18Speaker 1: some of the people that you remember but don't know,
- 1:06:21Speaker 1: like Snoop Dogg. In turn, we're gonna reach out to him.
- 1:06:24Speaker 1: We're reaching now he's done into my dad did he already?
- 1:06:27Speaker 1: Snoop Dogg intern already slid into my dms and I
- 1:06:29Speaker 1: Nick had already said he's down. We're gonna even have that.
- 1:06:31Speaker 1: We're gonna have the stand ins on the show who
- 1:06:34Speaker 1: did a lot of the work that you see before
- 1:06:38Speaker 1: we went in and did it set up the shots
- 1:06:41Speaker 1: they you know, So it's gonna be a bunch of
- 1:06:43Speaker 1: people writers, We're gonna have u directors everything. Hopefully we
- 1:06:48Speaker 1: could get some big names too. I'm sure Folly would
- 1:06:51Speaker 1: come on and we could just say nobody cares Sean
- 1:06:53Speaker 1: over and Sean nobody cares. So um, follow Donald and
- 1:06:59Speaker 1: I on Instagram and Twitter and please tell your friends
- 1:07:03Speaker 1: because we hope this is a is a big success.
- 1:07:05Speaker 1: Because for us this was I don't know about you, Donald,
- 1:07:07Speaker 1: but this was a lot of fun. I kind of
- 1:07:09Speaker 1: don't want to stop talking, but I feel like, oh,
- 1:07:11Speaker 1: absolutely should. This was actually the you know, I talk
- 1:07:13Speaker 1: about Clueless as the jump off point in my life
- 1:07:16Speaker 1: where I was introduced to the industry and I learned
- 1:07:20Speaker 1: a lot of things. But Scrubs was really like the
- 1:07:24Speaker 1: you know, that was the thing that took it over
- 1:07:25Speaker 1: the top for me as an actor, where I had
- 1:07:27Speaker 1: an actual job where I was able to you know,
- 1:07:30Speaker 1: pay my rent and I built a family because I
- 1:07:34Speaker 1: was able to be a part of this wonderful show.
- 1:07:36Speaker 1: So you know, I owe a lot to use Zach,
- 1:07:40Speaker 1: I owe a lot to Bill Lawrence. I owe a
- 1:07:42Speaker 1: lot to the cast and the crew of this of Scrubs.
- 1:07:46Speaker 1: So I'm really excited to talk about it with fans
- 1:07:49Speaker 1: who enjoyed the experiences that we had. Yeah, and as always,
- 1:07:53Speaker 1: I agree with everything you said, And as always, thank
- 1:07:55Speaker 1: you for being our fans, and thank you for supporting
- 1:07:58Speaker 1: the show. It was a joy, boy to make it
- 1:08:01Speaker 1: for you and Donald. I hate this quarantining. I just
- 1:08:04Speaker 1: want to be with you all the time. I want
- 1:08:06Speaker 1: to be there will be a day again, Hopefully there
- 1:08:09Speaker 1: will be a day again where you and I can eagle.
- 1:08:13Speaker 1: I can't wait to ride you. I can't all right,
- 1:08:17Speaker 1: I feel like that's what we should end. Should we
- 1:08:18Speaker 1: end with that? Now, let's end with that. Don't say,
- 1:08:20Speaker 1: don't speak, don't speak. Let's just end with that. Goodbye, everybody.
- 1:08:26Speaker 1: Here's some stories about show we made about a bunch
- 1:08:31Speaker 1: of doctor nurses and said, he's the stories should so
- 1:08:40Speaker 1: yet around here are yeado? Around here are describe
