- 0:07Speaker 1: It's podcast.
- 0:10Speaker 2: Welcome to Meet Eater Trivia, the only game show where
- 0:12Speaker 2: conservation always wins. There is a prize. Meat Eater will
- 0:16Speaker 2: donate five hundred dollars to the conservation organization of the
- 0:19Speaker 2: winners choosing. I'm your host Spencer new Arth and today
- 0:22Speaker 2: we're joined by Clay, Brent, bear Mark, Maggie and Tony.
- 0:27Speaker 2: This is a ten round quiz show with questions from
- 0:30Speaker 2: meat Eater's four verticals, which are hunting, fishing, conservation and cooking.
- 0:34Speaker 2: Meadeater Trivia is brought to you by but one of
- 0:36Speaker 2: my favorite beers, bush Light Head for the Mountains. All right,
- 0:39Speaker 2: we have a mail bag question to start today's show.
- 0:42Speaker 2: If you have a question you want the crew to answer,
- 0:43Speaker 2: then send your question to mail bag Excuse me with
- 0:47Speaker 2: the subject line mail Bag to the address Trivia at
- 0:49Speaker 2: the medeater dot com. This is from Kevin in British Columbia.
- 0:52Speaker 2: He says, have you ever had to break up with
- 0:54Speaker 2: a hunting partner? And if so, how did you approach
- 0:57Speaker 2: the matter? Anybody ever had to break up with a
- 1:01Speaker 2: hunting partner?
- 1:03Speaker 3: I had to break up with a fishing partner once.
- 1:05Speaker 2: Oh okay, how did that go? Because Kevin wants to
- 1:08Speaker 2: know how to approach the matter.
- 1:09Speaker 4: Uh So, I had found a lake that had really big,
- 1:14Speaker 4: large mouth in the suburbs of the Cities, and it
- 1:17Speaker 4: looked like a frog pond, so it didn't look very good,
- 1:20Speaker 4: but it was a It was a lake you could
- 1:22Speaker 4: go flip and catch big, big fish. And I told
- 1:25Speaker 4: my neighbor about it, who I fished with a lot.
- 1:27Speaker 4: And then I showed up at the lake one day
- 1:28Speaker 4: and two of his buddies were fishing and it was
- 1:30Speaker 4: a little lake and I was like, he's talking, and
- 1:34Speaker 4: so we had a little conversation about it, and we
- 1:36Speaker 4: didn't fish together anymore.
- 1:37Speaker 2: Okay, is he the neighbor who owns property that you hunt?
- 1:40Speaker 1: No?
- 1:40Speaker 2: No, okay, Well then it was an easy breakup, right,
- 1:42Speaker 2: It wasn't no strings attached at that point.
- 1:45Speaker 5: I think the answer is you you don't necessarily always
- 1:49Speaker 5: have to directly confront the situation.
- 1:53Speaker 6: You just become less and less available.
- 1:55Speaker 2: Okay, just ghost call.
- 1:56Speaker 5: Them less and less, ghost them a little bit more
- 1:59Speaker 5: and more or and it's a very.
- 2:04Speaker 7: I'm all about saying, hey, po, this is the reason
- 2:08Speaker 7: and for what you did, and for that reason, I'm out.
- 2:13Speaker 5: Maybe it's never that big of a deal, like it's
- 2:15Speaker 5: it's like, you know, you just kind of you just
- 2:18Speaker 5: kind of went in different directions.
- 2:20Speaker 6: See the Anderson of what the exact reason is.
- 2:22Speaker 1: Yeah, the break.
- 2:23Speaker 6: If it was an egregious thing like somebody.
- 2:28Speaker 8: Spot stealing, my screening criteria is just very, very high.
- 2:32Speaker 8: I'm very paranoid about ever starting a new hunting partnership.
- 2:36Speaker 8: Like we've got a funny situation. A buddy of mine
- 2:39Speaker 8: jokes still to this day, like there was a buddy
- 2:42Speaker 8: that's gonna go to Elk hunt with. He said, yeah,
- 2:43Speaker 8: I'd love to go. But last time I went, I
- 2:46Speaker 8: brought my buddy Andy, and I always told him if
- 2:48Speaker 8: I ever went again, I'm going to invite him to.
- 2:51Speaker 8: He's like that cool. I'm like, I don't know, No,
- 2:53Speaker 8: I don't know the guy. I'm not sure I want
- 2:55Speaker 8: to commit my ten days to being with some guy
- 2:57Speaker 8: I don't know out there in the mountains. So we
- 2:59Speaker 8: had to up like a meet and greet, like a
- 3:01Speaker 8: blind date kind of deal. We got to kind of
- 3:03Speaker 8: hang out and talk and figure feel each other out.
- 3:08Speaker 6: Bring him.
- 3:09Speaker 8: We brought him, and he's one of my best buddies now,
- 3:11Speaker 8: one of the best hunting partners, really, So I think
- 3:13Speaker 8: that careful screen and take a little time vetting process.
- 3:17Speaker 2: He was vetting you, Mark, you just didn't know it.
- 3:19Speaker 8: You're probably right here right.
- 3:20Speaker 2: So I honestly that guy's got low stin.
- 3:23Speaker 4: I have a really good hunting partner that for a while,
- 3:26Speaker 4: we sort of had a falling out because he's one
- 3:28Speaker 4: of those perpetually late people and I finally.
- 3:31Speaker 3: I that drives that's not cool, no, and it drives
- 3:33Speaker 3: me nuts.
- 3:34Speaker 4: And finally I was like, I hunted and fished with
- 3:36Speaker 4: him a lot, and I was like, I'm gonna just
- 3:38Speaker 4: start leaving you. And I started leaving him, and then
- 3:40Speaker 4: he started he started showing up. So and we're still
- 3:45Speaker 4: great friends to this day. But we had a little
- 3:46Speaker 4: rocky patch.
- 3:47Speaker 2: In there that story. Maggie, any advice for Kevin from.
- 3:50Speaker 9: British Club, Well, you guys are talking about like bro breakups.
- 3:53Speaker 9: I'm thinking about like actual relationship breakups. I have not
- 3:59Speaker 9: had one of the I did though my current sweetheart.
- 4:05Speaker 9: I was a little worried about getting in a relationship
- 4:08Speaker 9: with him because we were fishing buddies to begin with,
- 4:12Speaker 9: and I didn't want to lose a good fishing buddy.
- 4:15Speaker 9: If things went south, but your friends and.
- 4:20Speaker 2: Now you live together and now lived a home with
- 4:23Speaker 2: your old fishing buddy.
- 4:24Speaker 9: Yep, we got a house. We got a pile of dogs.
- 4:27Speaker 9: Things are good.
- 4:28Speaker 8: Is the fishing still good?
- 4:30Speaker 9: Fishing is good?
- 4:31Speaker 1: All right?
- 4:32Speaker 2: All. We have a couple events in person to tell
- 4:36Speaker 2: you about. August thirteenth at the Milwaukee Mediator Store, I
- 4:40Speaker 2: am hosting trivia at the store from six pm to
- 4:43Speaker 2: eight pm. There's a grand prize of one thousand dollars
- 4:47Speaker 2: that day as a gift card. Teams of up to
- 4:49Speaker 2: four people can compete, but solo players are welcome as well.
- 4:52Speaker 2: Spots are limited and you need to sign up if
- 4:54Speaker 2: you want to play, go to the medeater dot com
- 4:57Speaker 2: slash events to register. And then in August fifteenth, at
- 5:01Speaker 2: the Minneapolis Meadeater store, me, Clay, Brent, and Tony will
- 5:04Speaker 2: be there for the grand opening. We'll be shaking hands
- 5:07Speaker 2: and kissing babies from ten am to two pm. We
- 5:10Speaker 2: have gifts for the first one hundred and fifty people
- 5:13Speaker 2: in prizes that are given out every hour. Again, that's
- 5:17Speaker 2: Meat Eater Trivia at the Milwaukee store on August thirteenth,
- 5:20Speaker 2: and a meet and greet with me, Clay, Brent and
- 5:22Speaker 2: Tony at the Minneapolis store on August fifteenth. We're excited
- 5:27Speaker 2: to see you out there. For more information, go to
- 5:29Speaker 2: the medeater dot com slash events. We'll be there, Brenton, Clay.
- 5:35Speaker 2: It takes real hard to drag them that far north.
- 5:37Speaker 2: We got it. They're gonna be at the Minnie.
- 5:40Speaker 8: Wisconsin store opening.
- 5:41Speaker 1: And that was a riot.
- 5:42Speaker 8: I mean there was a lot of people.
- 5:43Speaker 6: It was all looking forward to it. I think it's
- 5:45Speaker 6: gonna be fun.
- 5:46Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 5:47Speaker 7: They said, man, you can invite, give us a list
- 5:49Speaker 7: of people you can and you want to invite to
- 5:51Speaker 7: the meet greet. I'm like, I don't know anybody that
- 5:53Speaker 7: lives that far north besides Tony.
- 5:56Speaker 2: Tony.
- 5:59Speaker 3: I appreciate that, man.
- 6:00Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm looking forward. I'm looking forward to it.
- 6:02Speaker 2: It'll be right outside Tony's front door. If you miss
- 6:05Speaker 2: me at the meet and greet, I'm gonna go to
- 6:07Speaker 2: the Twins game that night. It's two dollar beers. You
- 6:09Speaker 2: can meet me and greet me there. But I don't
- 6:11Speaker 2: think these Brenton.
- 6:13Speaker 5: Good doing, like accompanying something fun onto the whole trip
- 6:19Speaker 5: is fun.
- 6:19Speaker 6: Though I can't complexify my life that way.
- 6:22Speaker 1: What times the game stock?
- 6:23Speaker 2: I think six to ten pm. The two dollars beers
- 6:26Speaker 2: are before first pitch.
- 6:28Speaker 1: That's Friday night.
- 6:29Speaker 2: That's no Saturday night.
- 6:31Speaker 1: Oh the night. Okay, yeah, I'm going on Brent.
- 6:33Speaker 2: Brent just learned that he's gonna be there.
- 6:36Speaker 1: I did where we're going again? All right?
- 6:37Speaker 2: The Shelby index for today is a four, so our
- 6:40Speaker 2: winner should get eight correct answers, and with that we're
- 6:43Speaker 2: onto the game of trivia. Play the drop phill.
- 6:48Speaker 1: Look, I need to know what I stand to win everything.
- 6:53Speaker 3: I'm saying, just tend to win everything.
- 7:02Speaker 9: Gamon Suckers.
- 7:04Speaker 2: Question one. The topic is fishing. This first great question
- 7:07Speaker 2: is via Brett Clement and has always it will be
- 7:10Speaker 2: multiple choice. Which of the state has the most miles
- 7:15Speaker 2: of coastline? Is it Louisiana, Oregon, New York, or Georgia?
- 7:25Speaker 2: Which of those four states has the most miles of coastline? Louisiana, Oregon,
- 7:33Speaker 2: New York, Georgia. The Bear Grease boys are in their
- 7:40Speaker 2: bear grease bibs. It's the only outfit they brought this week.
- 7:43Speaker 10: I think Clay's Guy's poker glasses it.
- 7:50Speaker 2: Which of these states has the most miles of coastline.
- 7:53Speaker 2: Four choices Louisiana, Oregon, New York, Georgia.
- 7:59Speaker 1: Change in mind.
- 8:01Speaker 9: I don't like my answer.
- 8:03Speaker 2: Room is not confident, but I think we can go
- 8:06Speaker 2: in the same way. I don't think I saw any
- 8:08Speaker 2: answers to the second time.
- 8:10Speaker 5: Usually the second mm hmm, it's that there's one that
- 8:14Speaker 5: you're like, Oh, it's that one, but it's usually this, Okay,
- 8:18Speaker 5: it's usually not that one.
- 8:20Speaker 2: Louis Oregon, New York, Georgia. Is everybody ready? Maggie's changing
- 8:27Speaker 2: her answer.
- 8:29Speaker 3: Keep it, Mags, keep it.
- 8:31Speaker 9: I think it sucks.
- 8:32Speaker 2: Go ahead and reveal your answers. We have Mark Kenyon
- 8:36Speaker 2: saying Louisiana, Tony, New York, Bear, Georgia, Maggie, New York, Clay,
- 8:43Speaker 2: New York, Brent, Georgia. The correct answer is Louisiana. Just
- 8:50Speaker 2: Mark Kenyon got that what I.
- 8:53Speaker 6: Was gonna switch to.
- 8:54Speaker 2: I was thinking about.
- 8:57Speaker 1: Trust me.
- 8:59Speaker 2: According to you know Way, Louisiana has the third most
- 9:03Speaker 2: coastline in the United States, after Alaska and Florida. New
- 9:07Speaker 2: York is thirteenth, Georgia is fourteenth, and Oregon is seventeenth,
- 9:13Speaker 2: So Louisiana number three.
- 9:16Speaker 1: Wow.
- 9:17Speaker 2: Question too. The topic is wildlife. Jimothy, which is this
- 9:21Speaker 2: type of animal, was declared a quote national celebrity by
- 9:25Speaker 2: the New York Times and Internet superstar by the Washington
- 9:29Speaker 2: Post in July twenty twenty six. This may be a
- 9:33Speaker 2: one hundred percent er.
- 9:34Speaker 1: The room looks confident.
- 9:36Speaker 2: Jimothy, which is this type of animal, was declared a
- 9:39Speaker 2: national celebrity by the New York Times and Internet superstar
- 9:43Speaker 2: by the Washington Post in July twenty twenty six.
- 9:47Speaker 8: As Internet superstars go these days, this one's not too bad.
- 9:51Speaker 2: You're okay with Jimmy having viral fame?
- 9:54Speaker 1: Yeah, I'll follow him.
- 9:59Speaker 2: We'll try to track YouTube video the Brent Maid, what
- 10:09Speaker 2: Waylon and Jimothy.
- 10:11Speaker 6: Brins hunting Dog's okay?
- 10:15Speaker 2: In a quotes, is everybody ready this? What kind of
- 10:18Speaker 2: animal is? Jimithy? Go ahead and reveal your answers? The
- 10:22Speaker 2: whole room says raccoon. The whole room got it right.
- 10:25Speaker 2: Jimothy is a raccoon. Jimothy the raccoon lives in a
- 10:30Speaker 2: Seattle neighborhood. He has an unusual shape that's the result
- 10:34Speaker 2: of a spinal deformity. Although locals have known about him
- 10:37Speaker 2: since last summer. It wasn't until last month when he
- 10:40Speaker 2: went viral. Just like Steve Ranella. Jimothy has an honorary
- 10:44Speaker 2: doctorate degree from the University of Washington.
- 10:47Speaker 1: He's also Moroku.
- 10:49Speaker 2: Just like Steve Runella. There is a picture of jimithy
- 10:54Speaker 2: Uh sitting very awkwardly on a fence. Question three, the
- 10:59Speaker 2: topic is cooking. This next great question is via Kerry Martin.
- 11:04Speaker 2: This word is defined as quote to roll a moist
- 11:08Speaker 2: food in a dry ingredient such as flour or bread crumbs,
- 11:13Speaker 2: and also refers to a machine that removes silt from
- 11:16Speaker 2: bodies of water. Tony Peterson coming up with an answer,
- 11:24Speaker 2: and then five blank whiteboards in the room. This word
- 11:26Speaker 2: is defined as to roll a moist food in a
- 11:30Speaker 2: dry ingredient such as flour or bread crumbs, and also
- 11:34Speaker 2: refers to a machine that removes silt from bodies of water.
- 11:40Speaker 6: Does anybody know this?
- 11:42Speaker 2: Mark Kenyon just came up with an answer. Maggie now
- 11:44Speaker 2: writing down her answer.
- 11:46Speaker 8: That's when you don't have it, and then all of
- 11:49Speaker 8: a sudden, nawns on you that little light bull flips on.
- 11:55Speaker 2: Started to write something.
- 11:57Speaker 1: Okay.
- 11:57Speaker 9: He did finish the second part through me for a minute.
- 12:00Speaker 9: But ah, okay.
- 12:02Speaker 2: This word is defined as to roll a moist food
- 12:05Speaker 2: in a dry ingredient, such as flour or breadcrumbs, and
- 12:09Speaker 2: also refers to a machine that removes silt from bodies
- 12:13Speaker 2: of water.
- 12:15Speaker 7: I'm just trying to picture the cooking terms on here
- 12:19Speaker 7: as if my grandmother would use them.
- 12:21Speaker 2: Okay, I think your grandmother she might have this in
- 12:23Speaker 2: her in her vocabulary.
- 12:28Speaker 9: You probably call it something else.
- 12:30Speaker 2: And what.
- 12:33Speaker 8: You know, here's the other thing to think about, Clay,
- 12:35Speaker 8: when you get a word, and I'm sure this has happened.
- 12:37Speaker 8: What's happened to me a lot maybe some of you.
- 12:39Speaker 8: You take a word that you use all the time,
- 12:41Speaker 8: and then you start thinking about it more, and then
- 12:43Speaker 8: you start wondering, is that actually a word? Is this
- 12:45Speaker 8: the real? Where did this come from? Am I thinking
- 12:48Speaker 8: about the right way? So now I'm having second thoughts
- 12:50Speaker 8: about my word because I'm thinking, Okay, did that just
- 12:53Speaker 8: come out of nowhere? Or is that really what this
- 12:55Speaker 8: thing is? And I'm second guessing everything.
- 12:57Speaker 2: So do you have this one right?
- 12:59Speaker 1: Mark?
- 13:00Speaker 8: Seventy percent?
- 13:01Speaker 2: Yes, fair new com do you have this one?
- 13:02Speaker 1: Absolutely not?
- 13:08Speaker 2: Is everybody ready? Go ahead and reveal your answers. Mark
- 13:12Speaker 2: Kenyon says dredge, Tony, dredge bear without an answer Maggie, dredging,
- 13:18Speaker 2: clay berettering, Brent batter. The correct answer.
- 13:23Speaker 6: Is dredgeh okay, Okay, yeah.
- 13:27Speaker 2: According to Cook's Illustrated, dredging and battering are two different
- 13:31Speaker 2: culinary techniques. Dredging is rolling a wet ingredient, such as
- 13:35Speaker 2: a fish filet in a dry ingredient such as flour.
- 13:38Speaker 2: Battering is when the fish file at is placed in
- 13:40Speaker 2: a wet breading like a beer batter. They say dredging
- 13:44Speaker 2: makes a crispier crust, while battering makes a thicker crust. Brent,
- 13:49Speaker 2: would your grandma use the word dredge?
- 13:51Speaker 1: She would?
- 13:52Speaker 7: Okay, yeah, I've heard of that. I don't know why
- 13:54Speaker 7: put that, I guess because of that injury, the hit injury.
- 13:58Speaker 2: Yeah, question was question for the topic is public lands.
- 14:06Speaker 2: Going to the Sun Road, which Atlas Obscura calls quote
- 14:10Speaker 2: the loveliest mountain road in North America, is located in
- 14:15Speaker 2: this National Park. Going to the Sun Road, which Atlas
- 14:24Speaker 2: Obscura calls the loveliest mountain road in North America, is
- 14:28Speaker 2: located in this National Park. The room is confident. Has
- 14:31Speaker 2: anyone drove on this road?
- 14:33Speaker 8: Uh?
- 14:34Speaker 2: Huh, okay, they didn't know the answer. Did you know
- 14:41Speaker 2: the answer? Bear?
- 14:42Speaker 1: No?
- 14:43Speaker 2: Okay? Can you help him out any more?
- 14:45Speaker 1: Clay?
- 14:47Speaker 2: Was he behind the wheel?
- 14:48Speaker 6: Well, you were with your mother and I wasn't there.
- 14:55Speaker 6: I wasn't there because I was at.
- 14:58Speaker 7: A hang on, you're gonna I don't dad, how you spell?
- 15:04Speaker 5: I don't really care if there's a chance that either
- 15:06Speaker 5: of us are gonna win. If we do win and
- 15:10Speaker 5: sahow we too wrong?
- 15:11Speaker 6: So far you gotta get eight to win, right.
- 15:14Speaker 2: We'll see you gotta get the most. We'll get a
- 15:16Speaker 2: scoreboard and a couple questions here.
- 15:18Speaker 8: I wish my dad worked here.
- 15:21Speaker 2: Calling to the Sun Road, which Atlas Obscure calls the
- 15:24Speaker 2: loveliest mountain road in North America, is located in this
- 15:28Speaker 2: National park. Mhm, Bear, do you have this one right?
- 15:35Speaker 6: So you got answer?
- 15:38Speaker 2: Go ahead and reveal answer. Mark says Glacier, Tony says
- 15:45Speaker 2: Bear's ear, Bear, Glacier, Maggie Glacier, Clay, Glacier, Brent Smokey Mountains.
- 15:52Speaker 2: The correct answer is Glacier National Park.
- 15:55Speaker 1: Never been there?
- 15:57Speaker 2: Going to the Sun Road.
- 15:59Speaker 1: Do you want?
- 16:00Speaker 8: Oh?
- 16:00Speaker 2: Yeah, that crosses the Continental Divide in northern Montana. Only
- 16:05Speaker 2: vehicles less than twenty one feet long and eight feet
- 16:08Speaker 2: wide are allowed on the pass. The road is known
- 16:11Speaker 2: for its stunning mountain views, but also it's narrow lanes,
- 16:14Speaker 2: dramatic switchbacks, and breath taking cliffs. Two motorists have died
- 16:18Speaker 2: on going to the Sun Road in the last seven
- 16:20Speaker 2: years due to rock falls that crushed their vehicle.
- 16:23Speaker 1: There was a.
- 16:24Speaker 2: Picture of what that fifty one mile stretch of road
- 16:27Speaker 2: looks like. I just drew up at this last weekend
- 16:30Speaker 2: for the second time.
- 16:31Speaker 8: So the first time I went up there, I was
- 16:32Speaker 8: ten years old. Family trip, and I remember riding up there,
- 16:36Speaker 8: my mom driving, and everybody was kind of paralyzed. We
- 16:39Speaker 8: got to the top, I think it would have been
- 16:40Speaker 8: Logan Logan's Pass, Logan's the highest part, and we set
- 16:44Speaker 8: out in the hike, my family and a couple extended
- 16:46Speaker 8: family members and come around this kind of band and
- 16:49Speaker 8: there's a guy.
- 16:49Speaker 1: So there's a.
- 16:50Speaker 8: Grizzly bear up ahead. And as soon as I heard
- 16:52Speaker 8: there was a grizzly bear, I started running towards it
- 16:56Speaker 8: because I want to go see the grizzly bear. My
- 16:57Speaker 8: Mom was back behind me, yelling at me to not
- 17:00Speaker 8: go running off, But I ran off way ahead of them,
- 17:03Speaker 8: came round a curve and right in the middle of
- 17:05Speaker 8: the trail is this huge animal. Like for me to Brent,
- 17:09Speaker 8: did he kill you? But it was a mountain goat.
- 17:13Speaker 2: That's a good conservation.
- 17:14Speaker 8: Three mountain goats right for me to you right? And
- 17:16Speaker 8: I'm ten years old this close to a goat. It
- 17:18Speaker 8: was one of the coolest things my whole life. But
- 17:20Speaker 8: I do look back on that like what a dumb
- 17:22Speaker 8: kid sprinting towards the grizzly bear. No, we never saw
- 17:29Speaker 8: the bear.
- 17:29Speaker 2: If you're going to do the drive and it makes
- 17:32Speaker 2: you nauseous to be on the edge of the cliff,
- 17:34Speaker 2: then do the drive from east to west rather than
- 17:36Speaker 2: west to east. If you go west to east, you're
- 17:38Speaker 2: driving the rim of the mountain the whole time. If
- 17:41Speaker 2: you're east to west, you get to tuck yourself up
- 17:43Speaker 2: against the mountain wall instead of being exposed. Question five.
- 17:48Speaker 2: The topic is hunting. This next great question is via
- 17:51Speaker 2: Michael McNeely. This month's full moon is known as the
- 17:56Speaker 2: Buck moon, which is when West Virginia Division of Natural
- 18:00Speaker 2: Resources says antlers can grow an inch a day. So
- 18:06Speaker 2: we're looking for what month that is this month? Notice
- 18:10Speaker 2: month's full moon is known as the buck moon, which
- 18:14Speaker 2: is when the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources says
- 18:18Speaker 2: antlers can grow an inch a day. Looking for a month,
- 18:26Speaker 2: Mark Kenyon quick to get his answer, Maggie, do you
- 18:29Speaker 2: have this one?
- 18:30Speaker 9: Right? I?
- 18:33Speaker 2: I don't know, okay, And that sounds like a like
- 18:35Speaker 2: a fifty give it that.
- 18:37Speaker 5: I'm always a little bit confused about velvet antler growth
- 18:42Speaker 5: on white tails because when they say I can grow
- 18:43Speaker 5: an inch a day, does that mean each point, each
- 18:46Speaker 5: termination point grows an inch or does it put on
- 18:51Speaker 5: you know, like an eighth of an inch on a
- 18:54Speaker 5: eight point and you get an inch?
- 18:56Speaker 6: Do you understand?
- 18:57Speaker 2: I understand what you're saying. The West Virginia Division of
- 18:59Speaker 2: Natural Resources did not specify where that.
- 19:02Speaker 6: There's a big difference.
- 19:03Speaker 8: I think it's the former. No, well, no, that could be.
- 19:08Speaker 6: I was thinking they're not putting on an inch on it.
- 19:11Speaker 8: They're definitely day no way, Yeah, but they could they
- 19:14Speaker 8: could easily accrue thirty inches an antler score over course
- 19:17Speaker 8: of a month, right, So that seems possible.
- 19:20Speaker 2: Okay? I got you this month, but the buck moon,
- 19:26Speaker 2: which is when the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources
- 19:30Speaker 2: says antlers can grow an inch a day.
- 19:34Speaker 6: Inch per day.
- 19:35Speaker 2: Is everybody ready, go ahead and reveal your answers. Mark
- 19:39Speaker 2: says July, Tony July, Bear April, Maggie July, Clay July,
- 19:47Speaker 2: Brent July. The correct answer is July did well. July
- 19:52Speaker 2: is the most dramatic month for deer growing antlers. North
- 19:56Speaker 2: American Deer Hunter magazine says June is when a buck
- 20:00Speaker 2: rack establishes its framework, July is when it has explosive growth,
- 20:04Speaker 2: and August is for the final touches. Other names for
- 20:07Speaker 2: the July full moon include the thunder moon, Raspberry moon,
- 20:10Speaker 2: and salmon moon.
- 20:12Speaker 9: Another quick little story about velvet. My mom and I
- 20:15Speaker 9: were driving on the road a few weeks ago and
- 20:18Speaker 9: there is a dead elk on the side of the
- 20:20Speaker 9: road that had some velvet on it. And my mom
- 20:23Speaker 9: was a science teacher for years, and she said, I've
- 20:26Speaker 9: never touched velvet on antlers before. So we pulled over
- 20:29Speaker 9: on the side of the road and got out so
- 20:31Speaker 9: we could rub the velvet on her on this dead
- 20:34Speaker 9: elk's antlers, and she was so excited.
- 20:37Speaker 6: I had no idea this is.
- 20:39Speaker 9: What it would be like. She was so excited. My
- 20:41Speaker 9: mom's the coolest, good.
- 20:43Speaker 1: Spencer.
- 20:44Speaker 2: What's up?
- 20:44Speaker 3: Can we ask Bear if you thought we were talking
- 20:47Speaker 3: about turkey beers.
- 20:49Speaker 6: We don't need to talk about it, but we do
- 20:50Speaker 6: not need to talk about that.
- 20:52Speaker 5: Well, think about this though, I mean would and I'm
- 20:55Speaker 5: still scrutinizing the question.
- 20:59Speaker 6: Antlers would grow more than an inch.
- 21:00Speaker 2: And a day.
- 21:03Speaker 6: The inch a day, got it, got it?
- 21:06Speaker 3: Got it?
- 21:06Speaker 2: Got it inch a day plus in a month. Full moon,

- 22:07Speaker 5: I every day I'm working on the Illinois River, get
- 22:10Speaker 5: a half day off with Hey, that's.
- 22:13Speaker 9: Enough, old total little picking up barges all along there.
- 22:20Speaker 2: You He mentions a town in that song that I
- 22:22Speaker 2: used to hunt by. So I loved that song.
- 22:24Speaker 1: Spot burning.
- 22:25Speaker 2: Yeah, but I don't out there anymore, and it wasn't
- 22:27Speaker 2: that good to begin with, So that spot can be burned.
- 22:32Speaker 2: The Illinois River and Wisconsin River are direct tributaries to
