- 0:13Speaker 1: Hello you guys, Welcome back to another episode of the
- 0:15Speaker 1: Hawkerel Energy Podcast. I'm your host, Kaylee, and this is
- 0:18Speaker 1: your weekly reminder that it's a new day, a new week,
- 0:21Speaker 1: a new mindset, and another day for you to become
- 0:23Speaker 1: the hawt girl energy you want to attract. Hello you guys,
- 0:26Speaker 1: welcome back to another episode. As don't see by today's title,
- 0:29Speaker 1: we are talking about winter blues because I am currently
- 0:33Speaker 1: in the trenches of winter blues. Firstly, it's still January.
- 0:39Speaker 1: I don't know how it's still January. I feel like
- 0:41Speaker 1: January has taken forever, and to think that we still
- 0:45Speaker 1: have another week of January blows my mind. I thought
- 0:48Speaker 1: for sure this was the last week, and I'm like,
- 0:50Speaker 1: oh wait, No, January thirty first is literally next Saturday.
- 0:53Speaker 1: And don't get me wrong, I do kind of love
- 0:55Speaker 1: January in the beginning, when you know, we're setting our
- 0:58Speaker 1: goals and we're thinking about New Year and all that
- 1:00Speaker 1: and kind of just feeling like we're going in with
- 1:02Speaker 1: a fresh start. But as soon as at the last
- 1:04Speaker 1: two weeks of January, I'm like, okay, I'm thinking about February,
- 1:07Speaker 1: I'm thinking about Valentine's Day, I'm thinking about, you know,
- 1:10Speaker 1: being one month closer to spring, and I don't know
- 1:13Speaker 1: if anyone else is probably in this mindset. Maybe it's
- 1:16Speaker 1: for all my winter girlies like me that live in
- 1:18Speaker 1: a city where there's four different seasons. But I'm itching
- 1:23Speaker 1: for spring already. I'm already over the snow. I'm over
- 1:25Speaker 1: the gloomy weather and I just want to jump straight
- 1:29Speaker 1: to spring and start seeing the snow melt and get
- 1:32Speaker 1: excited about summer. So anyways, I kind of wanted to
- 1:35Speaker 1: make this episode about the winter blues and kind of
- 1:38Speaker 1: how to get your spark back after feeling maybe a
- 1:41Speaker 1: little you know, lazy or low and feel like you
- 1:44Speaker 1: need to look a bit of a glow up or
- 1:46Speaker 1: a bit of a change, or just like tips on
- 1:48Speaker 1: how to make yourself feel, you know, out of that
- 1:51Speaker 1: winter ugly state or winter blue state that you might
- 1:54Speaker 1: be currently going through, especially for people like me who
- 1:57Speaker 1: either live in Canada or live in a snowy climate
- 2:00Speaker 1: where it's just you know, kind of taken over our
- 2:03Speaker 1: life and it's so hard to do the little things
- 2:06Speaker 1: like go outside, go for a walk. And I just
- 2:10Speaker 1: really wanted to make an episode about how we can
- 2:12Speaker 1: find ways to really bring ourself back to our good
- 2:17Speaker 1: old self and feeling more motivated, feeling more positive, and
- 2:21Speaker 1: just not feeling as low that we're currently feeling with
- 2:24Speaker 1: the winter season. So I know there's girls that obviously
- 2:26Speaker 1: experience a winter season, right for anyone that lives in
- 2:30Speaker 1: Florida or Australia or any to a warmer climate, like,
- 2:34Speaker 1: obviously you still have a winter season, which we understand
- 2:37Speaker 1: it's still a little bit colder where you are, but
- 2:40Speaker 1: it's not as cold as where you know I'm at,
- 2:43Speaker 1: for example, with being in the full on snow in Canada. Anyways,
- 2:47Speaker 1: let's talk about the reality of winter, because I feel
- 2:50Speaker 1: like everybody can kind of relate to this in the
- 2:53Speaker 1: sense where it's getting dark at four pm. I think
- 2:55Speaker 1: we're all not really feeling that cute right now, at
- 2:58Speaker 1: least I'm not feeling cute right now, with me looking
- 3:01Speaker 1: a little bit paler, and I don't know, just kind
- 3:04Speaker 1: of like feeling a little off. The sun rarely shows here.
- 3:07Speaker 1: I don't know what it's like in the warmer climates,
- 3:09Speaker 1: Like I don't know, Florida's winter is more like gloomy
- 3:12Speaker 1: and cold and not that much sun. I honestly don't
- 3:15Speaker 1: really go to Florida around this time of the year,
- 3:17Speaker 1: So correct me if I'm wrong. But I think everyone
- 3:19Speaker 1: kind of experiences the lack of sunlight around this time
- 3:22Speaker 1: of the year, which is so hard because the sun
- 3:26Speaker 1: really does make a huge difference. If it's a sunny
- 3:28Speaker 1: winter day, I'm actually having a good day, Like I
- 3:31Speaker 1: want to get outside, I want to get the sunlight.
- 3:34Speaker 1: I want to just like walk outside, get things done.
- 3:37Speaker 1: I don't know, I feel more productive when the sun's
- 3:39Speaker 1: actually out. I feel really good going into my day,
- 3:42Speaker 1: But when it's gloomy and it's constantly snowing, it is
- 3:46Speaker 1: very hard to make the effort of like getting out
- 3:49Speaker 1: of the house or wanting to be productive or wanting
- 3:52Speaker 1: to feel motivated. Like I feel like it's a very
- 3:54Speaker 1: common feeling with being in this current season. I also
- 3:58Speaker 1: feel like this is a very anti social time, Like
- 4:01Speaker 1: I feel like we're all in hibernation mode, Like I'm
- 4:04Speaker 1: only seeing my friends really for someone's birthday or the
- 4:07Speaker 1: odd small hangout. If people actually want to get out
- 4:10Speaker 1: of their house and get together. So it's very hard.
- 4:14Speaker 1: I get it, Like I personally don't want to leave
- 4:15Speaker 1: my house right now, Like I'm like very much, just
- 4:17Speaker 1: want to chill, be in the house, not really get out.
- 4:20Speaker 1: But I need to have a different mindset, I think
- 4:22Speaker 1: moving forward and really try and push myself to kind
- 4:24Speaker 1: of romanticize winter. And I think that's something we could
- 4:27Speaker 1: probably all work on. And I get it. It's hard.
- 4:29Speaker 1: It's I'm not saying it's easy at all, but we
- 4:31Speaker 1: need to find ways to kind of make winter more enjoyable,
- 4:35Speaker 1: more fun. And I want to say that I don't
- 4:38Speaker 1: hate where I live, Okay, I don't want to make
- 4:39Speaker 1: it scene like I'm like, oh my god, I hate
- 4:41Speaker 1: Canada whatever. Like I truly do love where I live.
- 4:44Speaker 1: And I would say most of the months I actually enjoy,
- 4:47Speaker 1: Like from March to December, I actually love where I live,
- 4:50Speaker 1: Like I don't really have an issue. Like March and
- 4:52Speaker 1: April's kind of like, you know, the snow starting to melt,
- 4:55Speaker 1: it's obviously turning into spring. And then as soon as
- 4:57Speaker 1: like May, July, August, obviously it's summer. It's amazing. And
- 4:59Speaker 1: then and fall, which I adore. Between September and November
- 5:04Speaker 1: and then Christmas, December and then again January. Still exciting
- 5:08Speaker 1: in the beginning, but now we're starting to feel the blues,
- 5:10Speaker 1: which is very common. I feel like around this time
- 5:13Speaker 1: of the year, I think we can just all agree
- 5:14Speaker 1: that right now we're all feeling a little off and
- 5:17Speaker 1: we need to find a way to get our spark back.
- 5:19Speaker 1: So I'm going to talk about a few things that
- 5:21Speaker 1: I think can help us mentally and physically. I am
- 5:24Speaker 1: taking these notes for myself. I am not saying that
- 5:26Speaker 1: these things here I'm doing right now that are like
- 5:29Speaker 1: making me feel good. There is like one or two
- 5:32Speaker 1: things that I would say that I've done out of
- 5:34Speaker 1: this checklist that I do think has helped me through,
- 5:37Speaker 1: like this week specifically and last week that I took
- 5:41Speaker 1: into a fact that I think has actually helped me
- 5:43Speaker 1: mentally and or physically. So I'll share those with you.
- 5:47Speaker 1: But I have ten things here that I personally think
- 5:49Speaker 1: will really really help you feel better about winter, feel
- 5:52Speaker 1: better about yourself, and kind of just get you through
- 5:55Speaker 1: these next few weeks because we're all really trying to
- 5:57Speaker 1: survive here. Like I get it. I feel I am
- 6:00Speaker 1: trying to survive myself. So we're going to get through this, Okay,
- 6:03Speaker 1: We're gonna get through this by doing these little things
- 6:05Speaker 1: to help us feel mentally and physically better. Okay, so
- 6:09Speaker 1: the first thing we're going to do is a daily
- 6:11Speaker 1: or weekly winter routine. So what I mean by this
- 6:14Speaker 1: is either have a structured morning or night routine that
- 6:17Speaker 1: is catered towards the winter season, or a weekly winter ritual,
- 6:21Speaker 1: which could be meeting up with a friend at a
- 6:23Speaker 1: coffee shop every single week. That way, it's something that
- 6:26Speaker 1: you look forward to doing. I like the idea of
- 6:28Speaker 1: having a structured routine because I feel like you wake
- 6:31Speaker 1: up in the morning, you know exactly what you want
- 6:32Speaker 1: to do, and kind of catering it towards the season
- 6:35Speaker 1: makes it more practical and more enjoyable in my opinion.
- 6:38Speaker 1: So usually in the summer, I'm up early, I'm up
- 6:41Speaker 1: at five, I'm going on my sunrise walk, I'm going
- 6:43Speaker 1: to a pilates class. You know, I'm doing all these things.
- 6:45Speaker 1: But currently I don't want to do a five am
- 6:48Speaker 1: walk because it's pitch block outside. So I'm trying to
- 6:51Speaker 1: cater my routine to the winter season. So instead of
- 6:54Speaker 1: walking outside, I'm walking inside on my treadmill, you know,
- 6:58Speaker 1: still having that walking aspect, but obviously not being outside
- 7:01Speaker 1: in the cold. You know, I'm having more warm coffees
- 7:05Speaker 1: versus ice coffees, Like just kind of trying to like
- 7:07Speaker 1: make adjustments to my current routine to kind of accommodate
- 7:11Speaker 1: the winter season. And then a weekly winter routine, which
- 7:14Speaker 1: is building a routine for yourself that you can do
- 7:16Speaker 1: on a weekly basis. Whether it's with a friend or
- 7:19Speaker 1: your husband or your sister, doesn't really matter. Two things
- 7:22Speaker 1: that I actually make a weekly priority that I've really
- 7:25Speaker 1: enjoyed these past few weeks is one of them. Me
- 7:27Speaker 1: and my sister we go visit a different coffee shop
- 7:30Speaker 1: every single week and get work done together. Typically it's
- 7:32Speaker 1: been on like Thursdays or Fridays, and it's been really
- 7:35Speaker 1: really enjoyable just to kind of be in a different space,
- 7:37Speaker 1: be in a different environment. We're trying out new coffee shops.
- 7:40Speaker 1: We love to order like a few different drinks. She'll
- 7:43Speaker 1: order a different drink, I'll order a different drink. We'll
- 7:45Speaker 1: try it out again, just kind of like something to
- 7:48Speaker 1: look forward to while still obviously getting our work done.
- 7:51Speaker 1: And then I also meet up with another girlfriend for
- 7:54Speaker 1: a workout class and a coffee after and we do
- 7:57Speaker 1: that on a weekly basis. So just making the effort
- 8:00Speaker 1: of doing something with someone. A seeing your friends obviously
- 8:03Speaker 1: is super important during this crappy weather. And just making
- 8:07Speaker 1: the effort of doing something fun together every single week
- 8:10Speaker 1: with people I think creates some enjoyment of a getting
- 8:14Speaker 1: out of the house and b finding joy of drinking coffee.
- 8:17Speaker 1: Like obviously I love my coffee in the morning. It's
- 8:20Speaker 1: one thing that I look forward to. So being able
- 8:22Speaker 1: to do it with a friend while getting work done,
- 8:25Speaker 1: and just kind of making it a weekly part of
- 8:27Speaker 1: your winter routine. I think it's a great start for
- 8:31Speaker 1: someone who's having, you know, a low or hard time
- 8:34Speaker 1: with the winter season. Another one is making your room
- 8:37Speaker 1: or your home feel like a safe space. And this
- 8:40Speaker 1: could be small or this could be big changes that
- 8:42Speaker 1: you want to do to your home. A small thing
- 8:44Speaker 1: could be like lighting candles all over your house, creating
- 8:47Speaker 1: that cozy vibe by lighting your fireplace, or you know,
- 8:50Speaker 1: putting on a YouTube cozy winter ambiance. I love doing
- 8:54Speaker 1: those on YouTube, almost like the Samsung Frame TV art,
- 8:58Speaker 1: but doing it as a YouTube video instead, and it
- 9:00Speaker 1: kind of plays like calming music with a very esthetic background.
- 9:04Speaker 1: So you could do things like that where it's almost
- 9:06Speaker 1: like you're just kind of like glamorizing your space and
- 9:09Speaker 1: making it more comfortable, or you can be the extreme
- 9:13Speaker 1: like me and completely change one of your rooms. So
- 9:17Speaker 1: this weekend, Zach and I actually decided to completely change
- 9:21Speaker 1: our bedroom back to the way it was before. So
- 9:24Speaker 1: I had my bed on this one wall for three years,
- 9:28Speaker 1: and this time last year, I was just like, I
- 9:31Speaker 1: don't know, feeling a little off. I'm like, I'm not
- 9:32Speaker 1: loving this setup anymore. It's been like this for way
- 9:34Speaker 1: too long. And honestly, I probably should have just like
- 9:37Speaker 1: painted the bedroom or just added artwork or something like that.
- 9:41Speaker 1: But instead I took the extreme and was like, no,
- 9:43Speaker 1: let's just flip everything. Let's figure out a different setup.
- 9:46Speaker 1: If you followed me on social media, then you already
- 9:48Speaker 1: know what I'm referring to. But we basically changed our
- 9:51Speaker 1: entire bedroom layout out and almost all of last year
- 9:55Speaker 1: it was in a different setup and it was nice.
- 9:57Speaker 1: I'm not going to say I loved it. I kind
- 9:59Speaker 1: of just like wanted to keep it like that because
- 10:01Speaker 1: I'm like, you know what, let's just have this nice
- 10:03Speaker 1: little change and eventually I'll be in that headspace of
- 10:07Speaker 1: wanting to change it all back, but obviously adding a
- 10:10Speaker 1: few things like artwork, wallscances, all that. So this weekend
- 10:14Speaker 1: I was like, you know what, I'm feeling like there's
- 10:16Speaker 1: something off, Like I really feel like we need to
- 10:18Speaker 1: change the bedroom back. I don't know why. I just
- 10:19Speaker 1: felt like this motivation of just doing it. We spent
- 10:22Speaker 1: four hours on our Sunday completely changing our bedroom around. Obviously,
- 10:26Speaker 1: we put our betting on, we added wall sconces, we
- 10:28Speaker 1: got to hang up this new artwork that I've had
- 10:31Speaker 1: literally for months that I have not put up yet,
- 10:33Speaker 1: and it literally tied the bedroom in so perfectly. It
- 10:37Speaker 1: goes to show that artwork or you know, mirrors or
- 10:39Speaker 1: just things being hung on the wall really does make
- 10:41Speaker 1: a huge difference in the space. And I feel like
- 10:44Speaker 1: I got this like instant glow or this instant spark
- 10:47Speaker 1: back of just like having my room back to the
- 10:50Speaker 1: way I loved it. And I think also just seeing
- 10:52Speaker 1: it really glamorized with the artwork and with the wall sconces. Like, again,
- 10:56Speaker 1: this is something that's very small, but I find it
- 10:59Speaker 1: did really some comfort and joy and a lot of
- 11:02Speaker 1: excitement around having my room back to the way it
- 11:05Speaker 1: was before. And again, I know it's not a big change,
- 11:10Speaker 1: but like it's a little change that kind of made
- 11:12Speaker 1: me feel good and got me excited because the room
- 11:15Speaker 1: feels really new now. It feels really refreshing, Like having
- 11:18Speaker 1: the furniture in a different spot in your house does
- 11:20Speaker 1: really make the space feel new and different. So if
- 11:23Speaker 1: you're itching just for a little bit of change, or
- 11:27Speaker 1: you're feeling like things don't feel cozy in your home
- 11:30Speaker 1: or not right, sometimes it's a good idea to take
- 11:33Speaker 1: the time on the weekend just to kind of rearrange
- 11:35Speaker 1: things and it might really help you out mentally and
- 11:38Speaker 1: also just make yourself feel like your space is where
- 11:41Speaker 1: it's supposed to be now now that you've changed everything back.
- 11:44Speaker 1: And I don't know, I'm just feeling a lot of
- 11:45Speaker 1: comfort since making the change for our bedroom, and I
- 11:49Speaker 1: think it was the best decision to switch everything back
- 11:51Speaker 1: to that wall. Another one is romanticizing the tiny moment,
- 11:54Speaker 1: kind of similar to making your room or home a
- 11:56Speaker 1: safe space. So finding ways to just kind of romanticize
- 12:00Speaker 1: your current day to day things, so your coffee, maybe
- 12:03Speaker 1: light a candle, you know, find just peace and joy
- 12:07Speaker 1: from doing that little thing that brings you so much
- 12:10Speaker 1: comfort and joy, you know. Romanticizing your reading instead of
- 12:14Speaker 1: just like sitting in your bed and reading a book,
- 12:17Speaker 1: go downstairs in your living room, light your fireplace, you know,
- 12:20Speaker 1: maybe play some light music in the background. Like find
- 12:22Speaker 1: ways to over romanticize the things that you love to do.
- 12:27Speaker 1: I love to put on a YouTube video and put
- 12:29Speaker 1: on my fireplace while I'm walking on my walking pad. Again,
- 12:33Speaker 1: it's something that's so small, but it truly does romanticize
- 12:37Speaker 1: the idea of walking on a walking pad with absolutely
- 12:40Speaker 1: nothing going on in the background. Like if I'm just
- 12:42Speaker 1: walking on the walking pad and there's no TV on
- 12:43Speaker 1: and there's no fireplace on, and I'm literally just staring
- 12:46Speaker 1: at a blank wall, obviously that's completely boring, but I'm
- 12:50Speaker 1: romanticizing it by adding little things to it. Anyways. More,
- 12:54Speaker 1: all the story is, I think it's just important to
- 12:55Speaker 1: always romanticize your life and do little things that just
- 12:59Speaker 1: make you feel good. Another one is dressing up for
- 13:01Speaker 1: no reason at all. Like if you are home all
- 13:04Speaker 1: day for work but you're just kind of feeling off,
- 13:07Speaker 1: it's okay to put it on a little bit of makeup,
- 13:09Speaker 1: get dressed up for yourself, and feel good about yourself
- 13:13Speaker 1: going into your day knowing that you put the effort
- 13:15Speaker 1: in yourself versus just you know, chilling in your pjs
- 13:19Speaker 1: and working at omal day and hey, you can do
- 13:21Speaker 1: that too, but if you're feeling like you need to,
- 13:25Speaker 1: I don't know, just like do those little things that
- 13:27Speaker 1: make you feel good. Really putting in the effort in
- 13:29Speaker 1: yourself will definitely be strie mood. This one here, I
- 13:32Speaker 1: find actually really does help, and it does cost a
- 13:35Speaker 1: little bit of money, but it does really make a
- 13:38Speaker 1: huge difference in my mood. And obviously some physical as well,
- 13:42Speaker 1: which is monthly self care appointments. I think this is
- 13:45Speaker 1: so important to do this on a monthly basis, booking
- 13:48Speaker 1: yourself one appointment that actually gets you excited. Personally, for me,
- 13:52Speaker 1: I try and book two of these a month, whether
- 13:54Speaker 1: it's a nail appointment or a hair appointment, or a
- 13:57Speaker 1: spray tan or a facial whatever brings you joy and
- 14:02Speaker 1: brings you comfort. I personally think it's a non negotiable
- 14:04Speaker 1: to do every single month, and personally for me, I
- 14:06Speaker 1: get my nails done every single month because I love
- 14:09Speaker 1: the way my nails look when they're done. I don't
- 14:11Speaker 1: overly enjoy the appointment for like the hour and a
- 14:13Speaker 1: half that they have my hands and my toes and
- 14:16Speaker 1: that I can't really do much. I will say the
- 14:18Speaker 1: appointments are not really that fun, but I do love
- 14:21Speaker 1: the feeling after the fact. I find I feel very fresh,
- 14:24Speaker 1: very clean, and it's just something that I love to
- 14:27Speaker 1: do on a monthly basis. Something that I booked this
- 14:30Speaker 1: week is a facial. I feel like I haven't gotten
- 14:32Speaker 1: a facial in so long. I feel like the last
- 14:33Speaker 1: of my went was maybe last summer, so it's been
- 14:36Speaker 1: like six months, and I feel like a facial is
- 14:39Speaker 1: going to literally make me feel so good. I know
- 14:42Speaker 1: it's just going to make my skin feel great. My
- 14:44Speaker 1: skin's gonna thank me for doing this. And again, it's
- 14:47Speaker 1: an appointment that I really look forward to. It feels
- 14:50Speaker 1: so good to get a facial, and I think just
- 14:53Speaker 1: doing those little appointments really do just boost excitement and
- 14:57Speaker 1: again just like makes you physically feel a little bit
- 14:59Speaker 1: better about your So maybe you're due for a hair
- 15:02Speaker 1: appointment or maybe you feel like you're a need for
- 15:04Speaker 1: a spray tan. Again, these are also some things that
- 15:07Speaker 1: you could do at home, So whether you want to
- 15:09Speaker 1: do a self tann session or a face mask or imass,
- 15:12Speaker 1: whatever the case may be just kind of like putting
- 15:14Speaker 1: in the effort to make yourself feel a little bit
- 15:17Speaker 1: prettier is always a good idea, and that, let's be honest,
- 15:20Speaker 1: like that's the reality of being a girl. Like we
- 15:22Speaker 1: love our little self care appointments, We love pampering ourself,
- 15:25Speaker 1: and we should be able to do that during the
- 15:27Speaker 1: winter season and feel good about ourself. Another thing that
- 15:30Speaker 1: could get you through this winter season that I find
- 15:33Speaker 1: has also been super helpful is heated workout classes. So
- 15:37Speaker 1: right now, I've been doing heated yoga classes since I
- 15:40Speaker 1: injured my back, so I can't really do a heated
- 15:43Speaker 1: sculp class, But if you don't have an injury, I
- 15:46Speaker 1: recommend booking a heated workout class. It is literally the
- 15:49Speaker 1: best feeling, especially in the winter. I feel like being
- 15:51Speaker 1: in that hot room getting that good sweat in. I
- 15:55Speaker 1: feel like it feels so good to feel that warmth
- 15:58Speaker 1: on our skin since we're not feeling that outside currently.
- 16:02Speaker 1: So if you kind of want that warmth and that
- 16:05Speaker 1: just like really good heated feeling, highly recommend going to
- 16:09Speaker 1: a heated workout class. I find it's a huge game
- 16:11Speaker 1: changer in the winter season specifically, and again you'll get
- 16:15Speaker 1: a good sweat and you'll feel really really good. And again,
- 16:18Speaker 1: heated yoga is something I'm doing. It's kind of new
- 16:20Speaker 1: to me, and I think it's just as great as
- 16:23Speaker 1: doing a heated workout class. So if you're not into
- 16:26Speaker 1: heated workouts, maybe try heated yoga. It's a great way
- 16:29Speaker 1: to get some stretching in and a great way to
- 16:31Speaker 1: kind of just like calm your body down. That's kind
- 16:33Speaker 1: of another reason why I'm doing it. It's just to
- 16:35Speaker 1: kind of help manage my stress levels. And they do
- 16:38Speaker 1: like a guide of meditation usually during the class as well,
- 16:40Speaker 1: which is really nice. So just like overall relaxing your body,
- 16:44Speaker 1: and again this stretching is obviously a huge one as well.
- 16:47Speaker 1: I'm that kind of person where I always want to
- 16:49Speaker 1: be productive, okay, And I actually do think it's just
- 16:52Speaker 1: like some type of personality that I have because my
- 16:55Speaker 1: dad is very much the exact same way. He is
- 16:57Speaker 1: very motivated all the time. He's very productive all the time.
- 17:00Speaker 1: I'm you know, on his days off, he literally will
- 17:02Speaker 1: tear apart the house and just like randomly do a
- 17:05Speaker 1: house project. He's like, oh, I'm gonna stain the stairs today.
- 17:07Speaker 1: My Mom's like it's a Sunday, Why are we staining
- 17:10Speaker 1: the hardwood stairs. He's like, no, no, we gotta do it.
- 17:12Speaker 1: My Mom's like, we don't need to do this, Like
- 17:14Speaker 1: he just always needs to be doing something. And again,
- 17:17Speaker 1: I love that about my dad, and I see that
- 17:19Speaker 1: a lot in myself because I feel like I'm the
- 17:21Speaker 1: same way. I always want to get stuffed downe on
- 17:23Speaker 1: the weekend. I always want to be doing something. I
- 17:25Speaker 1: can't just like sit around and do nothing. But in
- 17:28Speaker 1: moments like this where it's you know, more of that
- 17:31Speaker 1: slower life and just kind of like not doing that much,
- 17:36Speaker 1: I think I need to appreciate that more and find
- 17:39Speaker 1: joy in it by actually forcing myself to slow down
- 17:42Speaker 1: and realize that it's important to take the break and
- 17:45Speaker 1: not always be productive all the time, and that it's
- 17:48Speaker 1: healthy to do that. And I feel like obviously in
- 17:50Speaker 1: the summer and the fall, I feel like every other
- 17:52Speaker 1: season in December, I'm always busy, right, like, whether it's
- 17:55Speaker 1: family stuff going on for Christmas or doing stuff in
- 17:59Speaker 1: the summer with friends and family and stuff around the house,
- 18:03Speaker 1: you know what I mean. Like there's always something going
- 18:04Speaker 1: on in other seasons, but I feel like the winter
- 18:06Speaker 1: is always that time of the year where it's important
- 18:09Speaker 1: to slow down and realize that you need to find
- 18:11Speaker 1: joy in doing that. So during this season, I really
- 18:15Speaker 1: want to take the time to find habits that allow
- 18:18Speaker 1: myself to enjoy this slower time. So maybe it's reading
- 18:22Speaker 1: more books, maybe it's binge watching a TV show. Zach
- 18:26Speaker 1: and I actually recently purchased a puzzle. We haven't started
- 18:29Speaker 1: it yet, but we're trying to make it a habit
- 18:32Speaker 1: where astead of scrolling on our phones at night for
- 18:36Speaker 1: two hours before bed, we're trying to find joy of
- 18:39Speaker 1: you know, putting our phones aside and actually working on
- 18:42Speaker 1: this puzzle together. And it forces us off our phones.
- 18:45Speaker 1: It allows us to kind of again stimulate our mind
- 18:48Speaker 1: while watching our favorite TV show. So it's just like
- 18:51Speaker 1: a small little habit, but again kind of goes back
- 18:53Speaker 1: to that slower life of just like really not trying
- 18:57Speaker 1: to force ourselves to overwork or overdoors. Well, that's again
- 19:00Speaker 1: just something I'm currently working on because I know it's
- 19:02Speaker 1: something that I could work on and just something that
- 19:05Speaker 1: I feel like we should all embrace while we only
- 19:08Speaker 1: have this winter season for two more months. I know
- 19:11Speaker 1: it's hard to romanticize winter. Trust me, I'm working on
- 19:15Speaker 1: it myself. But trying to plan fun activities to do
- 19:18Speaker 1: during the winter seasons with friends can make winter more enjoyable.
- 19:22Speaker 1: So whether it's going ice skating, or booking a pottery class,
- 19:27Speaker 1: or going bowling or mini petting, like, think of things
- 19:30Speaker 1: that you could do indoors that obviously accommodates the winter season,
- 19:34Speaker 1: but being able to go bowling with friends is super fun.
- 19:38Speaker 1: I did that this weekend and it was just like
- 19:40Speaker 1: a fun little thing to do, you know. Booking a
- 19:43Speaker 1: pottery class, I haven't done that yet, but my sister
- 19:45Speaker 1: and I have been meaning to paint mugs for Valentine's Day,
- 19:49Speaker 1: which again is a fun little thing to do together.
- 19:51Speaker 1: You get, you know, a little piece of artwork that
- 19:53Speaker 1: you did after the class, and you can use the
- 19:56Speaker 1: mug for your coffees in the morning. I think that's
- 19:58Speaker 1: just like such a cue little activity to do. And
- 20:01Speaker 1: then ice skating. Zach and I want to take our
- 20:04Speaker 1: two year old niece to the canal and just skate
- 20:08Speaker 1: on it with her and probably push her, and it's
- 20:11Speaker 1: a baggain while we do so. So again, just trying
- 20:13Speaker 1: to find joy of what we're currently living with, like,
- 20:16Speaker 1: how can we find fun things to do? And this
- 20:19Speaker 1: could be like cute date night ideas that you can
- 20:21Speaker 1: do with your boyfriend every week or every month, or
- 20:24Speaker 1: with friends, family, literally anyone, but just like trying to
- 20:27Speaker 1: make the effort of doing something fun with the people
- 20:30Speaker 1: that you love with this winter season might be something
- 20:35Speaker 1: fun that you could do. It's also important to take
- 20:37Speaker 1: the time now to also cook your comfort meals. I
- 20:40Speaker 1: feel like the winter season is definitely soup season, it's
- 20:43Speaker 1: chili season. I feel like I'm constantly making those meals
- 20:47Speaker 1: on repeat because it's my comfort meals during this cozy
- 20:51Speaker 1: time of the year. But Zach and I have actually
- 20:53Speaker 1: made it a non negotiable for our new Year's resolution
- 20:56Speaker 1: to be better at making healthier recipes and trying a
- 20:59Speaker 1: new recipe every single week. So our Friday nights have
- 21:02Speaker 1: turned into date nights at home and we've been trying
- 21:05Speaker 1: a new recipeo every single Friday, and it's been really fun. Honestly,
- 21:09Speaker 1: I feel like maybe I should vlog one of those
- 21:11Speaker 1: nights or make a TikTok about it. But we've been
- 21:14Speaker 1: trying different recipes out. We've been just kind of enjoying
- 21:17Speaker 1: cooking together, finding different comfort meals, and also finding meals
- 21:21Speaker 1: that we love that we can include into our weekly
- 21:24Speaker 1: dinner rotation, because obviously, sometimes eating the same thing can
- 21:27Speaker 1: get kind of boring, so it's kind of a good
- 21:29Speaker 1: opportunity to try something different out and then see if
- 21:31Speaker 1: you want to make it again. So it's something that
- 21:34Speaker 1: we've really enjoyed doing. And yeah, it's cozy season, right,
- 21:37Speaker 1: so it's good to try out different meals. And yeah,
- 21:41Speaker 1: I feel like cooking is very comforting and I truly
- 21:45Speaker 1: do really enjoy it. And the last one is a
- 21:47Speaker 1: complete opposite of slowing your life down. But if you
- 21:50Speaker 1: are that kind of person that wants to be busy
- 21:52Speaker 1: and wants to find something to do indoors that kind
- 21:56Speaker 1: of keeps your mind busy. Is starting a project, whether
- 21:59Speaker 1: it's a house project or something that you want to
- 22:01Speaker 1: do on the side with your business maybe, or just
- 22:04Speaker 1: something for work that you want to do on the side,
- 22:06Speaker 1: whatever the case may be, it keeps you busy, it
- 22:09Speaker 1: keeps you wanting to do it, you look forward to
- 22:12Speaker 1: doing it. So just finding a project that might keep
- 22:14Speaker 1: you busy and just kind of make you feel like
- 22:16Speaker 1: you have some purpose in doing something like I have
- 22:19Speaker 1: been finding a lot of joy doing these little home
- 22:21Speaker 1: projects for us on the weekend. I would say, for me,
- 22:23Speaker 1: my project right now is really our new house or
- 22:26Speaker 1: picking out you know, cabinet colors, tile wall colors, door handles,
- 22:31Speaker 1: like super random stuff like that. But I feel like
- 22:33Speaker 1: on the weekends, Zach and I will spend our Saturday
- 22:35Speaker 1: morning kind of like working on this project essentially of
- 22:39Speaker 1: doing things of the house. So that's kind of kept
- 22:41Speaker 1: us busy throughout January, which has been really nice. If
- 22:43Speaker 1: you are wanting to start a project, then it could
- 22:45Speaker 1: be you know, as simple as redoing a room in
- 22:48Speaker 1: your house, or it could be, hey, you want to
- 22:50Speaker 1: start a side business on Etsy and you want to
- 22:52Speaker 1: create an Etsy account and start selling something that you
- 22:55Speaker 1: have been making, Like literally, it could be the randomest things.
- 22:58Speaker 1: But I do think a project really does help your
- 23:00Speaker 1: mindset during the winter, and I don't know, it just
- 23:03Speaker 1: kind of makes you feel like you're in that productive state,
- 23:05Speaker 1: You're in that motivated state by doing a project. And
- 23:08Speaker 1: then one more thing is book the tropical trip. Now
- 23:11Speaker 1: I'm just kidding good, I mean, yeah, if you can
- 23:15Speaker 1: book a tropical trip, that would be great, just to
- 23:17Speaker 1: get a little bit of vitamin Dan, get a little
- 23:19Speaker 1: bit of sunshine, get a little bit of a tan,
- 23:21Speaker 1: come home and be like, Okay, we're good, We're fixed
- 23:24Speaker 1: the winter uglies. We're saved by spending all that money
- 23:27Speaker 1: on a trip. Obviously I'm kidding, but like we would
- 23:29Speaker 1: all love to book a trip, I'm sure, especially the
- 23:31Speaker 1: girlies who have been feeling it with the snow and
- 23:35Speaker 1: the cold weather. It's currently minus twenty two I think today,
- 23:38Speaker 1: and literally snowing NonStop. So anyways, point is is that
- 23:43Speaker 1: these are some things that you can take into your
- 23:46Speaker 1: day to day and just kind of again get you
- 23:48Speaker 1: through these next few weeks of the winter blues and
- 23:52Speaker 1: just the season that we're all trying to survive. I'm
- 23:55Speaker 1: feeling it. I'm sure you guys are feeling it too.
- 23:57Speaker 1: But we're so close to spring, we really are. We're
- 23:59Speaker 1: literally a month away, if not a month and a
- 24:02Speaker 1: half away to almost being closer to summer. Anyways, I
- 24:05Speaker 1: hope you guys can take these tips that I shared
- 24:07Speaker 1: today into your day to day life and just really
- 24:10Speaker 1: find some joy doing these things and also just making
- 24:13Speaker 1: you feel better mentally and physically during this hard time
- 24:17Speaker 1: of the year. I decided to upload this episode a
- 24:20Speaker 1: day later, So this is me on a Wednesday. Hi.
- 24:24Speaker 1: I recorded this episode yesterday, but I just wanted to
- 24:29Speaker 1: end this off with talking about how important it is
- 24:32Speaker 1: to go to your doctor's appointments. And today I just
- 24:36Speaker 1: was at a doctor's appointment. Everything's good, nothing's wrong. It
- 24:39Speaker 1: was more so just to kind of remind you to
- 24:42Speaker 1: make the effort of going to get a physical done.
- 24:45Speaker 1: I got my boobs checked, I got the PAP test,
- 24:49Speaker 1: which nobody loves doing, but I did it. I don't
- 24:53Speaker 1: enjoy it, that's for sure. And she literally did a
- 24:56Speaker 1: full physical exam and all that, and it felt really
- 24:59Speaker 1: good to hear healthy results and hear that everything is good.
- 25:03Speaker 1: But you know, I have heard some women go through
- 25:06Speaker 1: some pretty traumatic things with avoiding getting doctor's appointments in
- 25:11Speaker 1: or getting themselves checked out, or being their own advocate.
- 25:14Speaker 1: So I just wanted to say, as a gentle reminder,
- 25:16Speaker 1: especially because we are in the beginning of the year,
- 25:18Speaker 1: that it's so important to attend those appointments and make
- 25:21Speaker 1: the effort of just getting everything checked out, making sure
- 25:24Speaker 1: that you were all good. I felt really good hearing
- 25:26Speaker 1: that everything came back positively, so it makes me feel
- 25:29Speaker 1: really good going into this year. So anyways, I just
- 25:32Speaker 1: wanted to end that off and just remind you guys
- 25:34Speaker 1: about that. But thank you guys for listening to today's episode.
- 25:38Speaker 1: If you're new definite, make sure to follow me on Instagram, TikTok,

- 25:50Speaker 1: another episode. I'm sorry this is up a day late,
- 25:53Speaker 1: but I love you guys all so much and I
- 25:54Speaker 1: will see you guys in next week's episode. Bo
