  know, I thought they came today with what I thought they would, which

  was, hey, we made a very common customary request to get some help

  on a contract and it didn't work out, and then later on the head

  coach made a football decision about the whole thing. So I think they stuck

  to what they believe the scenario is. And I don't know that we're ever

  going to know really down to the root of it, you know, how

  things were framed, how they were taken, what the exchanges were, because

  everyone is at this point pretty well dug in. But they all maintain today

  that you know, Russ is amenable for a return, that the door is

  open and all of that. And I don't know that I know anyone in

  the league who believes that for real, but but they did did great pains

  in saying that today. And you know, I didn't think it was relevant

  that that. Sean Payton, I did ask him, you know, was

  that included in your conversation with or you know, was that the tenor of

  your conversation with Rush yesterday? And he said it was. And I will

  So again, I don't know anybody who believes that, but that that

  think in hindsight the Broncos would have done anything different in their approach to Rus

  it admit that today that perhaps there were one, one or two things they

  could have done differently. I will say the component, and I've talked to

  the last two weeks. I think the component I don't have a comfort level

  with is how is all this conveyed between Russ's agent and Russ? You know,

  what was what was that conversation? Really live? What do we know

  about that? I mean that, and I'm not saying anything underhanded was done,

  but you know, we've all played the telephone team where he said that,

  I said that, you said, and it's just you know, I

  don't I don't know that I have a comfort level with that little piece of

  it. But you know, again, it's it's a pretty simple problem.

  That's it's a very painful move to make for the franchise. But again,

  I I don't know anyone in the league who doesn't think they're gonna make it

  all right, Jeff, what do you what are some of our take aways

  from today? Let's just start there, because we heard from Greg Penner,

  I suppose we said that we heard from George Peyton. So George gets George's

  back, whatever speculation is there, George is clearly back. And Sean Payton,

  what's your what's your overall takeaways from today? Well, you know,

  Dard, I will say all season, all season, I've I've routinely heard
• 4:19
  from everyone that George Peyton and Sean Peyton have have figured out how they're gonna
• 4:28
  work together. Yeah, they like it. And I think Sean Payton has
• 4:32
  been around long enough to understand, no matter how much control you have as
• 4:38
  a head coach, uh, if you don't have a football guy find a
• 4:42
  new football players, you're not going to be able to pick up that chase
• 4:46
  in February every year and make it work. So I don't know, John
• 4:50
  Payton needs George Peyton, And you know, I think they have figured out
• 4:56
  behind the scenes, whether we'll ever see it or not, how are going
• 5:00
  to do this? And that was that was one of the takeaways. And
• 5:02
  again I've been hearing that all year, but I always think it's important when
• 5:06
  people say things publicly because you know then you're wearing it. You know,
• 5:11
  as soon as you say it, you're wearing it. So I thought that
• 5:15
  was a good takeaway. I thought John Peyton showed a little more, uh,
• 5:19
  sort of accountability about the offense and the red zone and the gold to
• 5:24
  go and all of those things. I thought that was a little more uh,
• 5:30
  him putting himself into that equation instead of the collective we so much as
• 5:35
  he had, you know, during the season, and you know sometimes that's
• 5:40
  just takes a couple of days to kick into. And I think their public
• 5:44
  admission that they will they will be in the middle tier free agents, uh,
• 5:48
  tells you that Russ's release is probably coming, and they know they know
• 5:54
  what that's gonna mean. Jeff, I got the impression based off the various
• 5:58
  ways that they said, we have no evaluate the staff yet and so on
• 6:01
  and so forth. I took away from it that there's somebody losing a job.

  Now. Number one, I'm curious if you got the same impression,

  and then number two, if you did, who's the candidate. Yeah,

  you know, I don't know that I have a candidate, But I routinely

  feel that way when a team doesn't make the playoffs, because it's I think

  it's really hard for a head coach and a GM and an owner to get
• 6:30
  through the you know, the requisite grinding over the playoffs miss and then saying,

  Okay, we're bringing everybody back. I just don't know that that's a
• 6:40
  good scenario I've seen very often in the league. So and it may it
• 6:45
  may be some you know, a position coach or too, or maybe some
• 6:50
  of the guys John Payton worked with has not worked with in the past,
• 6:56
  you know, weren't what he expected. You know, we don't know any
• 6:58
  of those things. But they're certainly not going to worry about you know,

  how many years are left on a guy's contract here. That's that's never going
• 7:06
  to be an issue here. So when the head coach wants to make a

  move on his staff, I think they'll just make it. Finally, what

  kind of impression did Scott Hastings make, Like out of the dawn just you

  know, out of nowhere, here comes Scott Hastings magnificent frame into the picture

  of the press conference in the in the media room there. How is he

  welcomed? Well, you know, we're a welcoming group, d Mac.

  I mean, it's a it's rainbows and unicorns down there in the media room.
