Did We Forget The Myths? Part II: The Birth and Death of the Universe
This week, we review the second part of Joseph Campbell’s epic ‘The Hero With 1000 Faces’ with a focus on the birth and death of the universe. The myths tell us where the universe came from, where it will dissolve to, and even what happens when we die.
Part I of the series focused on the first half of ‘The Hero with a Thousand Faces’ which described ‘The Hero’s Journey’, a common archetype across all myth and religion, according to Campbell. And in Part III we will look at Homer’s Odyssey and the movie by Christopher Nolan and apply the Hero’s Journey to its plot and theme.
