- 0:21Speaker 1: All right, guys, welcome to the Major Wrestling for your podcast.
- 0:24Speaker 1: We're laughing because we did like two minutes without being recorded,
- 0:26Speaker 1: but we're here with the masterpiece, Chris Adonnas, Chris Masters.
- 0:31Speaker 2: Let's go. You have a bunch of two sex What
- 0:33Speaker 2: was it again, Todd Christopher? That's right in the hotline days,
- 0:36Speaker 2: we were talking about the old wrestling like, well you know, okay,
- 0:40Speaker 2: so right around nineteen ninety seven and the whole wrestling
- 0:43Speaker 2: internet emergen. No, yeah, no, there were all these like
- 0:47Speaker 2: lines that were commondeered or stolen by like these group
- 0:51Speaker 2: of people. I think I'm trying to remember what it
- 0:53Speaker 2: was called, but like everybody had like hotlines and they
- 0:55Speaker 2: were reporting whatever I think the wrestling observer was reporting.
- 0:59Speaker 2: And I just remember because there was such a thirst
- 1:02Speaker 2: for information after the screw job, right, we were all like,
- 1:05Speaker 2: what the hell happened here? Like something happened if we
- 1:08Speaker 2: need to know more? And like I just remember, right
- 1:10Speaker 2: around that time, I somehow discovered those and I even
- 1:13Speaker 2: started one myself, and that's where I was in time
- 1:19Speaker 2: check were we basically had this conversation.
- 1:22Speaker 1: Is this is my broken road equipment. So the screens
- 1:25Speaker 1: all messed up. But anyway, I did like the the
- 1:27Speaker 1: e FED. Did you do any of those where you
- 1:29Speaker 1: would like it'd be like Email Wrestling Federation. You have
- 1:32Speaker 1: a name and you cut your promos, but write them out. No,
- 1:35Speaker 1: And I was Brett Matthews with the Z that was
- 1:37Speaker 1: my character. Oh my, I never did that same thing
- 1:39Speaker 1: as you because your middle name is mine's Brett. So
- 1:42Speaker 1: Brett Matthews my first and Brett Matthew we did the
- 1:44Speaker 1: same thing.
- 1:45Speaker 2: Wow, yes, I call you the piece. Wait a minute, Okay,
- 1:49Speaker 2: So since we're going through all this, you guys obviously
- 1:51Speaker 2: backyard wrestled at some point.
- 1:53Speaker 1: I was also Brett Matthews. I was the owner and
- 1:55Speaker 1: founder of World Tramp Pros. He is more proud of
- 1:57Speaker 1: his backyard career than his like, literally, to this moment.
- 2:02Speaker 2: Bro, I'm nostalgic about my backyard career. But you'll really pop.
- 2:05Speaker 2: You know who I was. I was freaking. I was
- 2:07Speaker 2: straight up no, you know, I was straight up triple
- 2:11Speaker 2: h Okay, I just played triple ah freaking And we
- 2:14Speaker 2: took it seriously. Man. We like we'd set up the
- 2:17Speaker 2: music and everything, and we kind of choreographed the matches.
- 2:19Speaker 2: It was wild but I never back out wrestled. Oh
- 2:22Speaker 2: give me a break. Never.
- 2:23Speaker 3: No, I like I was such a wrestling nerd. I
- 2:26Speaker 3: saw some interview with Brett Hart, like so early on
- 2:28Speaker 3: when he's like, that's not real wrestling. You know, you
- 2:29Speaker 3: go to good train and go to school, commit yourself
- 2:32Speaker 3: to sports.
- 2:32Speaker 2: That's what I did. Well, that's the funny thing. So
- 2:34Speaker 2: my mom saw a tape of what we were doing
- 2:36Speaker 2: and she was like, oh, hell no. And right away
- 2:38Speaker 2: she's like, I'm gonna pay for your wrestling school. She
- 2:41Speaker 2: didn't want me to. Well, she's all us like falling
- 2:43Speaker 2: off the ladders.
- 2:44Speaker 3: I think I feel like you had this weird perception.
- 2:46Speaker 3: People thought you were like this bodybuild their meathead and
- 2:49Speaker 3: like we weren't a wrestling guy. It couldn't be more opposite.
- 2:52Speaker 3: And I feel like people don't realize. Even to this day,
- 2:54Speaker 3: I feel like people that don't know you don't know.
- 2:56Speaker 2: It still drives me crazy. And this guy came from
- 2:59Speaker 2: body though, isn't.
- 3:00Speaker 1: Like seeing if I you at like Venice gold Ye
- 3:02Speaker 1: tried this business a kid.
- 3:04Speaker 2: But you guys know how that's because the Body guys
- 3:06Speaker 2: before me kind of laid that out right. There was anception,
- 3:10Speaker 2: preconceived conception, like the Ultimate Warrior, Lex Luger. All those
- 3:13Speaker 2: guys were just gifted with bodies, but they was like, oh,
- 3:16Speaker 2: they didn't care or love wrestling all that much. But
- 3:19Speaker 2: I think part of it is my fault because like
- 3:21Speaker 2: after I saw that, that's the way I was kind
- 3:22Speaker 2: of perceived, you know what I mean. Once I was
- 3:24Speaker 2: entering the business, obviously, I kind of like started to
- 3:27Speaker 2: kind of push some of that stuff. I said I
- 3:29Speaker 2: was a former mister Olympia because I didn't, you know,
- 3:31Speaker 2: I was like the wrestling fans or markets smart, right, Yeah.
- 3:35Speaker 2: But then so it ended up ended up bothering me though,
- 3:38Speaker 2: because a lot of people really took that and bought
- 3:40Speaker 2: into him, and then they just automatically assumed like, oh,
- 3:42Speaker 2: he just came into wrestling. He's just got a great build,
- 3:45Speaker 2: and like it's the complete opposite. Like I love man,
- 3:48Speaker 2: It's the only thing I ever really loved and was
- 3:51Speaker 2: passionate about, and like it was the only reason I
- 3:54Speaker 2: ever even started working out, Like it just seemed like
- 3:56Speaker 2: the logical first step when you're like fourteen years old.
- 3:59Speaker 2: He's like, all right, I'll go.
- 3:59Speaker 1: To so all right, we did the backyard wrestle we
- 4:02Speaker 1: did the hotlines. You also collected or played.
- 4:04Speaker 2: With figures, right, Oh yeah, oh that's why we're here.
- 4:07Speaker 1: That's why we're here. That's what the guy you sparked his.
- 4:09Speaker 4: I remember one time you show me this picture of
- 4:11Speaker 4: you and Vince when you were a kid.
- 4:12Speaker 2: Oh yeah, that was from So that was a whole
- 4:15Speaker 2: other thing, just real quick on that. So my friend
- 4:18Speaker 2: this was in uh, let's see where. It was nineteen
- 4:21Speaker 2: ninety six, right, and there was the house show after
- 4:24Speaker 2: WrestleMania twelve, and I went down with my friend. This
- 4:26Speaker 2: was my first wrestling event. It was h the Attitude
- 4:29Speaker 2: Adjustment Tour Shaw Michael Jsus Vader and so one of
- 4:32Speaker 2: my buddies found this secret door that leads backstage, and like,
- 4:36Speaker 2: like I was just sitting at my seat watching the
- 4:38Speaker 2: show and he was gone for a while. He comes
- 4:39Speaker 2: back and he is super hyped. He's going crazy, like
- 4:44Speaker 2: thirteen fourteen something like that, and like he's telling me
- 4:46Speaker 2: he just fucking went down there. He was backstage. Yeah, yeah, YadA,
- 4:49Speaker 2: And I'm like, no way, So you know, of course
- 4:51Speaker 2: we're going to go back and yeah, he showed me
- 4:53Speaker 2: the door. We went down this service elevator. We got
- 4:56Speaker 2: back and like the first two guys I see in
- 4:58Speaker 2: the distance are Shawn Michael and Breadth the hit Man
- 5:00Speaker 2: Heart Holy, and I literally bro I almost go into
- 5:04Speaker 2: a full sprint. My friend has to run. My friend
- 5:07Speaker 2: freaking grabs me like that, don't relax, Thank god he did.
- 5:10Speaker 2: Like I don't even know what the hell I was thinking.
- 5:12Speaker 2: Like I always remember it too, because it was like
- 5:14Speaker 2: I couldn't believe it. I was me like I was
- 5:15Speaker 2: like I couldn't believe that they were in such close
- 5:17Speaker 2: proximity first of all, but then also like I was
- 5:21Speaker 2: trying to talk to Sean and he was just he
- 5:23Speaker 2: was just all over his girlfriend, Like you know, we
- 5:25Speaker 2: were bare leaving there, man, Like you know what I mean.
- 5:29Speaker 2: But it didn't matter, you know. I'm like, oh, he's
- 5:30Speaker 2: the fucking man. Yeah, like, yep, that's fucking And the
- 5:33Speaker 2: picture Evince, oh you because we this now became a thing,
- 5:37Speaker 2: and get these kids the funk out of here? Oh yeah,
- 5:40Speaker 2: are you kidd even Dave Hebner, Dave Hebner, It became comical. Man.
- 5:43Speaker 2: Every time we would go back there, As soon as
- 5:46Speaker 2: Dave Hebner would spot us, we would run because he
- 5:48Speaker 2: would get he would kick us out, bro and it
- 5:50Speaker 2: became a regular thing. And so I basically met and
- 5:53Speaker 2: got pictured there because like we went backstage with that one,
- 5:55Speaker 2: and then every time they come out, we do the
- 5:57Speaker 2: same thing, and you know, we would get kicked out eventually,
- 5:59Speaker 2: but I'd be like a fresh start every time you
- 6:01Speaker 2: went to that. You would try to do this pretty much,
- 6:03Speaker 2: but were smart enough. His time went on, and when
- 6:06Speaker 2: you know, his time went on, we realized, oh, maybe
- 6:08Speaker 2: don't go on wrestling t shirts. That way you can
- 6:10Speaker 2: get spotted to. So we started dressing more sophistically. But
- 6:14Speaker 2: then also here was the thing, you know, how we
- 6:15Speaker 2: got the picture events, So to avoid Dave Hebner, we
- 6:18Speaker 2: started to avoid David. We started waiting in the loading
- 6:21Speaker 2: dock and that's where I got a lot of the pictures.
- 6:23Speaker 2: I got a picture of events there I got. I
- 6:25Speaker 2: eventually got a picture with Sean there, which was hilarious.
- 6:27Speaker 2: If I ever show you guys, it's right around January
- 6:30Speaker 2: ninety eight when he's going through all this stuff. Man
- 6:32Speaker 2: like he looks so angry.
- 6:34Speaker 3: Oh my god, oh Dallas told me storted he's taking
- 6:37Speaker 3: out backstage when he was a kid, and he must
- 6:38Speaker 3: have just been so annoying and he was around Seing
- 6:40Speaker 3: and Sean.
- 6:40Speaker 1: Went, who's fucking kid is this?
- 6:46Speaker 2: Wow? Yeah?
- 6:48Speaker 3: So yeah that was fun, like surreal years later that
- 6:51Speaker 3: you're like wrestle Shawing on pay per view're like, oh yeah, man, like,
- 6:54Speaker 3: I mean you're still only like what twenty two and
- 6:56Speaker 3: then happened?
- 6:56Speaker 2: Yeah, I was so young at that point. It was
- 6:59Speaker 2: really weird and it was overwhelming, man like because you guys,
- 7:03Speaker 2: you know, you guys came up with just a couple
- 7:04Speaker 2: of years after me, but like people don't understand, like
- 7:06Speaker 2: because I looked so mature, but I was really just
- 7:10Speaker 2: such a kid, right and sharing a locker room with
- 7:13Speaker 2: all these grown men that you grew up looking up to,
- 7:16Speaker 2: and it was very intimidating experience, but also like, yeah,
- 7:19Speaker 2: it was a dream from true, but it was just yeah,
- 7:22Speaker 2: it was tough.
- 7:22Speaker 3: And you're in our same generation, in our same boat.
- 7:25Speaker 3: And that's like a lot of this podcast. The thing
- 7:27Speaker 3: that's come out of is like we couldn't express like
- 7:30Speaker 3: what big fans we were when we started No Two
- 7:34Speaker 3: sharing a locker were undertaking Bob, how you're not.
- 7:35Speaker 1: Going to just keep be like, hey, tak her you
- 7:37Speaker 1: has bro.
- 7:38Speaker 3: You know, it's just and if you did, oh my god,
- 7:41Speaker 3: you'd just be annihilated. So like for years and years
- 7:44Speaker 3: years we had to like kind of suppress it, which
- 7:46Speaker 3: now like we think through the show and even wrestling.
- 7:48Speaker 2: Now we don't anymore.
- 7:49Speaker 1: Nobody can.
- 7:50Speaker 2: I like it. I'm really open about it now because
- 7:52Speaker 2: you know what, what caused that for me was when
- 7:54Speaker 2: I went to OVW because everybody kind of shamed markedness
- 7:57Speaker 2: all the time, and it made me feel like, all right,
- 7:59Speaker 2: I just I shouldn't really show it too much. I
- 8:01Speaker 2: got to be professional. But I did make exceptions to that,
- 8:04Speaker 2: like you know, to go back to when you talked
- 8:05Speaker 2: about Sean, like I didn't even once I found out.
- 8:08Speaker 2: I don't even know if it was before that, but
- 8:09Speaker 2: I made sure to tell him that, like he was
- 8:11Speaker 2: my guy and all that stuff, because I was also
- 8:13Speaker 2: worried that like maybe somewhere in this process I might
- 8:15Speaker 2: say something that rubs him the wrong way. Right at
- 8:18Speaker 2: least if I tell him like you were my guy,
- 8:19Speaker 2: you some kind sympathy, well yeah, he just maybe you know,
- 8:23Speaker 2: he'll know that, you know, I don't mean anything by
- 8:25Speaker 2: it than that, you know, and how much I look
- 8:27Speaker 2: up to of course, of course.
- 8:28Speaker 1: So okay, so we were talking about this the other night.
- 8:30Speaker 1: I'm like, this guy, we got to have him one
- 8:31Speaker 1: of the pod. So you had figures back in the day,
- 8:33Speaker 1: you had the Hasbros, the Jacks, you had your figure
- 8:36Speaker 1: feds with your friends. Tell us about all this stuff.
- 8:39Speaker 2: Yeah, I've been watching you guys, you know, and I
- 8:41Speaker 2: just I haven't really gotten a chance to talk about
- 8:43Speaker 2: it much because it's not as much of a thing
- 8:45Speaker 2: for me now. I wish it was, because I don't
- 8:46Speaker 2: have any of them anymore through circumstance. But uh yeah,
- 8:49Speaker 2: wrestling figures were my life. Like my earliest memories of
- 8:53Speaker 2: pro wrestling, like we were talking about, was the Hasbro figures. Man,
- 8:57Speaker 2: and I would get those, you know, like for Christmas,
- 8:59Speaker 2: and you know, my family celebrates Hanka, so we would
- 9:02Speaker 2: get a different wrestling figure every night. Awesome.
- 9:04Speaker 3: My buddy growing up, I would go to his house
- 9:06Speaker 3: for Honakha, the same thing.
- 9:08Speaker 2: I still have vivid memories man, of getting like, you know,
- 9:11Speaker 2: a Marty Janetti figure one night of Shawn Michaels and
- 9:14Speaker 2: I still and I still remember, like my prize figures
- 9:16Speaker 2: were like you know, first it was the green Ultimate Warrior,
- 9:19Speaker 2: you know with the pink and white, and then I
- 9:21Speaker 2: ended up getting the white one that the pressing like.
- 9:25Speaker 2: So those has Bros were definitely like the early I
- 9:28Speaker 2: just like with you guys to your first figures or
- 9:31Speaker 2: did you to me?
- 9:31Speaker 3: I was tingle like my wrestling Phantom and Hazards like
- 9:35Speaker 3: hand in hand, like I remember my first memories of
- 9:37Speaker 3: watching wrestling or involve the.
- 9:38Speaker 4: Hazards like Series one, and it's like it was like the.
- 9:40Speaker 2: Gateway and the commercial right, but the commercials, I don't think.
- 9:43Speaker 4: I can't stand how it is how big those were, like.
- 9:47Speaker 2: The finishes with the Warrior riding.
- 9:48Speaker 4: But there's like through the years, there's like there's like
- 9:50Speaker 4: seven of them.
- 9:51Speaker 1: There's a bunch of them if you on YouTube, it
- 9:53Speaker 1: was absolutely perfect, like like Jesse the Body Macho.
- 10:00Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm trying to think of which ones I I
- 10:03Speaker 2: can remember everyone I had out of like that first series.
- 10:05Speaker 2: I know that were the Rockers in the first series or.
- 10:08Speaker 1: The Rockers are one of the early ones? Yeah, tag
- 10:10Speaker 1: team set?
- 10:11Speaker 2: What about the first whole? Coin was the.
- 10:12Speaker 3: One that begs hard to stand?
- 10:18Speaker 2: Yeah, but and he has the U s A on
- 10:20Speaker 2: I think, yeah, see this is fun man. Yeah, and
- 10:22Speaker 2: then did you have the ring? Oh yeah, I was
- 10:25Speaker 2: telling Matt, like, dude, me and my buddy, we would
- 10:28Speaker 2: we would run wrestling shows too, man, we'd set the
- 10:30Speaker 2: ring up. We paara, guys, we get the music. And
- 10:33Speaker 2: I think we had some kind of system though, where
- 10:35Speaker 2: there'd either be rocks is a paper and then somebody
- 10:37Speaker 2: whoever switching up, whoever wins, would get the offense or
- 10:40Speaker 2: maybe that shows the winner. I can't remember, but uh yeah,
- 10:42Speaker 2: we took it serious, man, like we really figures were
- 10:45Speaker 2: such a huge thing. And then you know, of course,
- 10:47Speaker 2: sure we'll talk about that. I remember. So the first
- 10:50Speaker 2: member were the Hasbros. But then the w c W
- 10:52Speaker 2: ones off the Galube.
- 10:53Speaker 1: We were talking about the globs because like they was
- 10:55Speaker 1: in the World.
- 10:57Speaker 3: School, like with Flair comes to WF you have one
- 10:59Speaker 3: ready to go, right, Oh did you have those?
- 11:01Speaker 2: Of course?
- 11:02Speaker 3: Oh yeah, of course that's how I discovered WW like
- 11:04Speaker 3: toys wrestling the fuck like who are these guys?
- 11:07Speaker 2: And then just you know, so funny to say that
- 11:09Speaker 2: whenever I explained, I tell people that same thing, like
- 11:12Speaker 2: I didn't know there was a WCW. And then I'm
- 11:14Speaker 2: just flipping through TV one day and I see Rick Rude, okay,
- 11:18Speaker 2: and you know, I just remember like, because at that time,
- 11:21Speaker 2: you didn't know where where did these guys going? Guys
- 11:23Speaker 2: just disappear? Right, Yeah, You're like, where do these guys go?
- 11:25Speaker 2: And then all of a sudden, I mean it, And
- 11:27Speaker 2: then I remember seeing Sting and then being like, Wow,
- 11:30Speaker 2: who's this guy? And like he caught on real quick,
- 11:32Speaker 2: because you know, he makes you think of the Warrior initially,
- 11:34Speaker 2: but then you see that he's you know, very different,
- 11:37Speaker 2: different type of performers.
- 11:38Speaker 4: So I'm really mind blown. Years later, they were tag partners.
- 11:41Speaker 1: Oh yeah, find out in the eighties teaming what and
- 11:45Speaker 1: then you had the Jacks, the bone Crunchers you had
- 11:48Speaker 1: you were into those.
- 11:49Speaker 2: Yeah, like so okay, like, so let's see how this went,
- 11:51Speaker 2: like because I had a little bit of a lapse,
- 11:53Speaker 2: like you know a lot of people. I don't know
- 11:55Speaker 2: if you guys did, but my wrestling lapse kind of
- 11:57Speaker 2: was the end of ninety two to the end of
- 12:00Speaker 2: ninety five, So I kind of missed ninety three and
- 12:03Speaker 2: ninety four, and I had to go back and obviously
- 12:05Speaker 2: do so when I came back in ninety five. I
- 12:07Speaker 2: don't know what I missed figure wise, I probably missed a.
- 12:09Speaker 4: Comeback, like the rare assros, like what we call the
- 12:12Speaker 4: green cars, like when.
- 12:13Speaker 3: You never see wwenty three kids, Yes, lud, there thousand
- 12:19Speaker 3: dollars figures today, like.
- 12:20Speaker 2: But when I came back, so I came back to
- 12:22Speaker 2: watching in ninety five, like the whole Shawn Michael's concussion
- 12:24Speaker 2: angle got me right because when I stopped watching, my
- 12:28Speaker 2: two guys were SHAWNA Turnhel and I loved the whole act.
- 12:31Speaker 2: I thought he was amazing, and Brett, like Brett was
- 12:34Speaker 2: just you know, you had the match with mister perfect
- 12:36Speaker 2: and all that, and I just the music, the tights,
- 12:39Speaker 2: the whole. But so inh night, Yeah, I came back
- 12:42Speaker 2: in ninety five and then yeah, shortly thereafter was that
- 12:44Speaker 2: first check set and like, yeah, I was right back
- 12:46Speaker 2: on board. It is funny and as much older now too.
- 12:48Speaker 3: Well yeah, but still more fun to play with, even
- 12:51Speaker 3: though yeah, you're more sophisticated wrestling fancy you can be
- 12:54Speaker 3: like book your angles and set up your shows and
- 12:57Speaker 3: what the hell you want to do?
- 12:58Speaker 2: Yeah, And I remember it was like so the Sean
- 13:01Speaker 2: wearing the blue trunks slam ones you had an undertaker,
- 13:04Speaker 2: a Bret Hart, a Razor Ramone.
- 13:06Speaker 1: Diesel and gold dust. He has that whole set autograph. Yeah,
- 13:10Speaker 1: I was telling him the other day. Everyone signed nice
- 13:13Speaker 1: yellow pink Jelus.
- 13:14Speaker 2: That I kind of always but Jack's, you know, it
- 13:17Speaker 2: was awesome. So that was a really great time because
- 13:19Speaker 2: first of all those ones, I think we all really
- 13:21Speaker 2: love those, but then they just kind of got better
- 13:23Speaker 2: and better. Details even got better, and then they started
- 13:27Speaker 2: making like the kind of stuff we'd like to, like
- 13:29Speaker 2: the you know, like an iron Man match pack or
- 13:31Speaker 2: what you know.
- 13:32Speaker 1: The atronic stuff.
- 13:33Speaker 3: Yeah, because we all benefit from that outitude where things
- 13:35Speaker 3: got just so popular and they were prosing so much
- 13:37Speaker 3: stuff or whatever. I've heard the story before that like
- 13:40Speaker 3: they were having like a meeting with whatever, the merchandise people,
- 13:43Speaker 3: and they were like, well, we sold out, telling Vincevince.
- 13:45Speaker 4: Was what we should never sell. There should just be
- 13:47Speaker 4: more and more and more and more.
- 13:49Speaker 2: To sell it to him.
- 13:49Speaker 3: And I'm like, in that that definitely makes sense, Like
- 13:52Speaker 3: that had to be the mentality because there was just
- 13:54Speaker 3: so much merchant, and there was.
- 13:55Speaker 1: The beanie babies they like everything.
- 13:57Speaker 2: Think of but like other thing, and we haven't even
- 14:01Speaker 2: I'm sure you guys probably talked and we talked about
- 14:03Speaker 2: this all the other day, but like it's kind of
- 14:04Speaker 2: in the same genre. But the wrestling buddies obviously, for
- 14:07Speaker 2: sure huge all got I didn't, so I only had
- 14:11Speaker 2: the Ultimate Warrior. I know, you think you said you
- 14:12Speaker 2: had more than I had.
- 14:14Speaker 1: Everybody, but like every kid, I think our age has
- 14:17Speaker 1: either Hogan or Warrior.
- 14:18Speaker 3: I I had the original four like Macho Hogan, Warrior,
- 14:21Speaker 3: Dbias and my friend I knew, like my buddy had
- 14:24Speaker 3: Led and Debs and I mean buss Man and Jacob,
- 14:27Speaker 3: so I knew they existed, but I never had a skin.
- 14:29Speaker 2: Now I have them all mint save. I'm just kind
- 14:31Speaker 2: of interested because I remember I only had the Warrior,
- 14:33Speaker 2: and I remember all the different things I used to.
- 14:35Speaker 1: Do the Warriors hours hours.
- 14:38Speaker 2: Yeah, but so like, how did you choose to spend
- 14:40Speaker 2: your time between your wrestling buddies, Like was there one
- 14:42Speaker 2: that got the most attention or was there ever a
- 14:44Speaker 2: match between the wrestling buddies?
- 14:46Speaker 1: Yeah, like I.
- 14:46Speaker 3: Would have one be my tag partner and I go
- 14:48Speaker 3: back and forth like I have, like mom a ycho path,
- 14:53Speaker 3: like literally like a psychle I can remember being in
- 14:55Speaker 3: my basement like by myself for hours, like.
- 14:57Speaker 2: Oh so wait, then you guys had a lot. Here's
- 14:59Speaker 2: another part that we might have not even got to.
- 15:01Speaker 2: But if you guys were running wrestling shows, then that
- 15:02Speaker 2: means you guys, somebody was doing commentary commentary.
- 15:07Speaker 3: He has this thing, what time he wore white gloves,
- 15:10Speaker 3: thicking wouldn't count, like I we I wore.
- 15:12Speaker 1: It was black gloves and a black Logs leap shirt
- 15:14Speaker 1: because I filmed myself and I thought that if I
- 15:17Speaker 1: watched it back, I wouldn't see my arms. That's amazing,
- 15:20Speaker 1: but doesn't make any sense.
- 15:22Speaker 2: It doesn't when you really think about it. But at
- 15:25Speaker 2: first thought, oh yeah, maybe because it's a backdrop. Yeah
- 15:28Speaker 2: it was, so how far does your friendship go back
- 15:31Speaker 2: as far as this? We met at wrestling school at eighteen.
- 15:34Speaker 3: Oh so, you guys are very stand office with each
- 15:36Speaker 3: other because we were like the same age, same height,
- 15:38Speaker 3: and then somehow we forgot we each collected reservates, which
- 15:42Speaker 3: was even then was.
- 15:43Speaker 1: Like oh yeah, and the two three like yeah, you
- 15:46Speaker 1: could not.
- 15:47Speaker 4: I don't nobody about this so weird was like that,
- 15:50Speaker 4: I know I.
- 15:51Speaker 2: Should have just embraced it because we would have seen
- 15:53Speaker 2: who was real about it to you, because like you know,
- 15:56Speaker 2: usually it's the guys that are that obsessed with stick around.
- 15:58Speaker 3: Yeah, I I wasn't coege like sneaking away toys the
- 16:01Speaker 3: wrestl and come back to my norm with the bags
- 16:02Speaker 3: like like like a burglar, like trying to get everybody
- 16:06Speaker 3: had a wrestler, Like I don't know about you guys,
- 16:08Speaker 3: but you had a probably had one wrestling buddy that
- 16:10Speaker 3: you hung out with more than all right, Yeah, I
- 16:12Speaker 3: had that. Like I still talk to my my friend Man,
- 16:15Speaker 3: I'll go to and he still watches wrestling, and I'll
- 16:17Speaker 3: go to him because you know, sometimes we've been in
- 16:19Speaker 3: the business so long, I'll just and we had comparable
- 16:21Speaker 3: opinions too back in the day or compatible.
- 16:23Speaker 2: So I'll just bet, yo, what do you think of this? Yeah?
- 16:26Speaker 2: I mean do you get some real feedback?
- 16:28Speaker 1: Right?
- 16:28Speaker 2: Yeah, And not even just as pertains to me, but
- 16:30Speaker 2: sometimes as it pertains to me, I'm like, what's your
- 16:32Speaker 2: thoughts on this? And so I like that kind of
- 16:35Speaker 2: feedback because it's like unjaded, it's just raw wrestling fan.
- 16:38Speaker 2: He doesn't he doesn't know us personally or nothing.
- 16:41Speaker 1: So when you know we all got into ww around
- 16:43Speaker 1: the same time you a little earlier. But all those
- 16:45Speaker 1: guys like JBL, Bob Holly undertake they couldn't relate because
- 16:49Speaker 1: they didn't grow up with wrestling on Saturday mornings. They
- 16:52Speaker 1: didn't grow up with the ice cream bars, they didn't
- 16:54Speaker 1: grow up with the bed sheets and the wrestling buddies.
- 16:56Speaker 1: So now I think, you know, it's way more accepted
- 16:59Speaker 1: because as everyone in our generation did.
- 17:01Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, so if you're coming.
- 17:03Speaker 1: To the business now, you can go up to people
- 17:05Speaker 1: and ask for a photo like you couldn't back in
- 17:07Speaker 1: the day, ask like Sean for like a selfie, like
- 17:10Speaker 1: you that way, you know.
- 17:12Speaker 2: Yeah, that's a good that's a good point. Yeah. But
- 17:14Speaker 2: although it has gone a little out of control. I've
- 17:17Speaker 2: been on some shows where there's more boys in the
- 17:20Speaker 2: back asking for pictures than out in the Yeah.
- 17:23Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, I've signed plenty of encyclopedias in the back.
- 17:27Speaker 2: Yeah. But I but I to go to what you're saying.
- 17:29Speaker 2: I do, like, you know, because it was what you're
- 17:31Speaker 2: saying is one hundred percent true. Like it's just it
- 17:33Speaker 2: was taboo to talk about. You were just kind of
- 17:36Speaker 2: for whatever reason, was found upon But like you know. Now,
- 17:39Speaker 2: I do think we all celebrated it like you guys
- 17:41Speaker 2: have been for a while. But within the last few
- 17:43Speaker 2: years I was just like, you know what, especially over
- 17:45Speaker 2: the pandemic, I got to really watch some of the
- 17:47Speaker 2: wrestling I loved growing up again and kind of rekindled
- 17:51Speaker 2: my love for it.
- 17:51Speaker 3: I always try to do that, sure, Like my first
- 17:54Speaker 3: thing of wrestling is wrestling six you know, Worhogan, and
- 17:56Speaker 3: I have this giant poster of it in my room
- 17:58Speaker 3: just to keep a little reminder of, like this, the
- 18:01Speaker 3: innocence that brought me to this all in the first place,
- 18:03Speaker 3: you know, like those feelings and like just to never
- 18:06Speaker 3: not take it too seriously, because we should take it seriously,
- 18:08Speaker 3: but you don't even not to take the bullshit too seriously.
- 18:11Speaker 2: I lost that for a while, I think, and it
- 18:13Speaker 2: was really, you know, one thing the pandemic did do
- 18:15Speaker 2: for me was able to really kind of get me
- 18:17Speaker 2: in touch with the eight year old version of me again,
- 18:19Speaker 2: and you know, just out of curiosity. I know, I
- 18:21Speaker 2: don't want to get off top of it. If there
- 18:22Speaker 2: was a favorite year professionally wrestling for you guys, fan wise,
- 18:26Speaker 2: one year, what would nine? Okay? So we're all in
- 18:29Speaker 2: the same pace.
- 18:30Speaker 1: And also for like my's across the I think.
- 18:34Speaker 2: For all all that business great.
- 18:35Speaker 1: And also it's like, you know, for my figure playing,
- 18:39Speaker 1: it was like my most sophisticated, you know, because I
- 18:41Speaker 1: finally got a computer so I could keep the title
- 18:43Speaker 1: histories and make the matches, you know, and I was
- 18:46Speaker 1: able to like, you know, now you can actually download
- 18:50Speaker 1: the music.
- 18:51Speaker 2: You know, who is your chosen one?
- 18:52Speaker 1: Oh I had like I was a big gold dust guy,
- 18:54Speaker 1: but in guild us to the top. But then I
- 18:56Speaker 1: would do like when l od would come out to
- 18:58Speaker 1: the entrance, I go to my room and do like
- 18:59Speaker 1: the Strobe light effect. I would really go all out
- 19:02Speaker 1: undertaker lights off.
- 19:05Speaker 2: That's one that's one cool thing, like you know, And
- 19:07Speaker 2: we talked a little bit about this, but me and
- 19:09Speaker 2: you start talking the other day and we realized, like
- 19:11Speaker 2: I think I've known for a while, like our level
- 19:13Speaker 2: of fandom was pretty equal. Man, were like, you know,
- 19:16Speaker 2: you guys did a lot of the same stuff. We
- 19:18Speaker 2: had the pictures all over the walls, pictures on the ceiling.
- 19:21Speaker 3: I mean, that's extreame. It got right, Like my whole
- 19:23Speaker 3: room was like cover Shawn Michael's do you think, yeah,
- 19:26Speaker 3: oh yeh, yeah, you would think if you didn't know.
- 19:29Speaker 2: I had that poster of him where he's doing this
- 19:31Speaker 2: and he's got the red Tides. Yeah, sexy face poster
- 19:35Speaker 2: in there. Man, Like, yeah, you were really but man,
- 19:38Speaker 2: it's just it's fun. Man, it's fun that we can
- 19:40Speaker 2: look back on that and now this is what.
- 19:42Speaker 1: We I remember, like fifth or sixth grade, my parents
- 19:44Speaker 1: were like redoing, like give me my own bedroom with
- 19:46Speaker 1: my brothers, and they would let me, you know, design them.
- 19:49Speaker 1: I not design it, but I wanted that that heart
- 19:51Speaker 1: shaped bed from the Heartbreak coat. You can't just go
- 19:56Speaker 1: buy the heart shape bed.
- 19:57Speaker 4: Probably could, but way too expensive.
- 20:00Speaker 1: Like that's all I wanted was that hard shape hotel.
- 20:03Speaker 2: I love that. Man, that is so funny.
- 20:05Speaker 4: So how old are you when you you make it
- 20:07Speaker 4: to the main roster?
- 20:09Speaker 2: Okay? So I got signed right around the end of eighteen,
- 20:12Speaker 2: and I was on the I was signed around eighteen
- 20:14Speaker 2: or nineteen and then all around crazy yeah, like and
- 20:17Speaker 2: I look back on that now, like, you know, so
- 20:19Speaker 2: people were so critical of me at that time, my
- 20:21Speaker 2: entering work, and like now as an adult, I look
- 20:23Speaker 2: back on that like they're freaking crazy. Like you got
- 20:26Speaker 2: to think about this. I was like two years into
- 20:28Speaker 2: my development and main eventing on RAW. So when I
- 20:32Speaker 2: look back at it and I'm like, wow, I actually
- 20:34Speaker 2: did pretty dang good because like, honestly, if you put
- 20:38Speaker 2: my experience now with my ability now in that body,
- 20:41Speaker 2: like I would be a couple of time world champion, right.
- 20:44Speaker 3: But people say like wrestlers don't peak it to like
- 20:46Speaker 3: early forties and at this rate, right, Like yeah, true,
- 20:49Speaker 3: like mental like where it all comes together and all
- 20:52Speaker 3: you know, all the tools exactly.
- 20:54Speaker 2: That's what I've been saying. You get to this point
- 20:56Speaker 2: and I felt like I'm here where you're you have
- 20:57Speaker 2: so much wealth of information and been through experience. Yeah,
- 21:01Speaker 2: you're the best thing you do is get your physical
- 21:04Speaker 2: ability and your mental to line up and you know,
- 21:06Speaker 2: hopefully not hit father time. You know.
- 21:08Speaker 3: So is merchandise like a thing you're thinking about this
- 21:10Speaker 3: time where you just so fucking go go go, Like
- 21:13Speaker 3: you're thinking like, oh shit, I'm going to start getting
- 21:14Speaker 3: shirts and figures and video games and as far as
- 21:17Speaker 3: what when you got called up or just this is
- 21:19Speaker 3: like the idea of like there's gonna be Chris Masters.
- 21:21Speaker 2: Oh yeah, yeah, I mean you know all the stuff
- 21:24Speaker 2: you guys probably did. It's like, well, I even before
- 21:26Speaker 2: I got called to the roster, I I would be
- 21:28Speaker 2: doing cardio and I'd just be imagining, like, what's my
- 21:30Speaker 2: song going to be? What is the whole Like I
- 21:34Speaker 2: didn't like think about it. I hadn't no idea that
- 21:36Speaker 2: it's gonna be that whole thing with the you know,
- 21:38Speaker 2: the cape and the pose and all that. So, I mean,
- 21:40Speaker 2: if I would have knew that it was gonna be that,
- 21:42Speaker 2: I would have probably like, oh my god, Like but yeah,
- 21:45Speaker 2: the you know, the biggest novelty for me, I guess
- 21:47Speaker 2: the action figure in the video game, you know what
- 21:49Speaker 2: I mean? Like the action figure obviously is huge, Like
- 21:52Speaker 2: it's so like people people in regular society, civilians look
- 21:56Speaker 2: at them. They're like they can't believe that you have
- 21:58Speaker 2: a wrestling figure, like wow, and it is. It's pretty cool.
- 22:01Speaker 2: And then like video games. We all grew up on
- 22:03Speaker 2: video games, absolutely, but I was never a big wrestling
- 22:06Speaker 2: video game guy, to be honest. And like all the
- 22:07Speaker 2: ones I was on, I would I would get them.
- 22:10Speaker 2: I would check out, you know how, I look on
- 22:12Speaker 2: it and play it a little bit, and then.
- 22:13Speaker 1: I kind of be Yeah, I'm not. I'm not a
- 22:15Speaker 1: video game guy, but I still think it's cool to
- 22:17Speaker 1: be in it.
- 22:17Speaker 2: Oh.
- 22:17Speaker 3: Absolutely, you remember getting that first figure, seeing it for
- 22:20Speaker 3: the first time.
- 22:22Speaker 2: Shoot, I don't remember the first time. I mean I
- 22:24Speaker 2: obviously remember the first figure, but.
- 22:25Speaker 4: I that's like weird. It's all like new guys.
- 22:28Speaker 1: It's like you like nova.
- 22:31Speaker 2: Yes, signed Dean. I remember they did a pretty darn
- 22:33Speaker 2: good job on the face because like I have this
- 22:35Speaker 2: certain grin. Yeah, look, yeah, it looks great. They actually
- 22:38Speaker 2: got the like the smirk in there. I was like, wow,
- 22:39Speaker 2: that's pretty good.
- 22:40Speaker 1: And you get a lot from Jacks. There's so many
- 22:42Speaker 1: of them.
- 22:43Speaker 2: Yeah, eased them out. Oh that's a good like you know,
- 22:46Speaker 2: And I talked to you a little bit about this,
- 22:47Speaker 2: but this is a wrestling figure podcast, like I'm always
- 22:50Speaker 2: curious to hear about, you know. I was a Jacks fan,
- 22:53Speaker 2: and from what I've seen from mattel like, it's cool,
- 22:55Speaker 2: but it just seems like it's a little less detailed
- 22:58Speaker 2: and a little more widely distributed, you know what I mean?
- 23:01Speaker 3: And yeahs like yeah, they're like dumbed down and meant
- 23:07Speaker 3: for kids.
- 23:07Speaker 2: I just feel like my excitement even let's just say
- 23:10Speaker 2: I was because I don't collect figures anymore. I mean,
- 23:12Speaker 2: but where you can still bond on this because I
- 23:14Speaker 2: get it, I did do it. Like you know, I
- 23:15Speaker 2: told you I'm more of a sneakerhead now. I love
- 23:17Speaker 2: these sneakers, but I just when I see figures now,
- 23:21Speaker 2: like I went to Walmart the other day, I don't know,
- 23:23Speaker 2: I just I don't have I would still think I
- 23:25Speaker 2: would have some level of excitement for me, but I
- 23:27Speaker 2: see them in like in a Walmart, and it's just
- 23:29Speaker 2: maybe it's just because it's all new people and I attachment.
- 23:32Speaker 2: Yeah maybe, But like I also feel like I don't
- 23:35Speaker 2: look at the figures. I used to look at some
- 23:36Speaker 2: of the jacks and just be like wow, like look
- 23:38Speaker 2: at the job they did with these reminded me of Spawn, right,
- 23:40Speaker 2: you know, like how cool were those sports? Didn't they share?
- 23:43Speaker 4: Some of the Jack's packaging was so like I can
- 23:46Speaker 4: the place.
- 23:47Speaker 3: Yeah, you know, maybe that's what it was to the
- 23:49Speaker 3: hotels and the very clean cut packaging, And so I
- 23:53Speaker 3: think it's more like.
- 23:54Speaker 2: But was there any wrestling figures that that came close
- 23:57Speaker 2: to what Spawn was doing? That? Because I'm trying to
- 23:59Speaker 2: look back I felt like, when did we.
- 24:01Speaker 3: Just see that he was supposed to get a McFarlane.
- 24:04Speaker 4: No, they unleashed or whatever the statue.
- 24:06Speaker 1: Oh he told me about that.
- 24:08Speaker 2: Yeah you know, yeah, I have said that. Yeah, we talked.
- 24:10Speaker 2: We talked about but we might as well bring Yeah,
- 24:12Speaker 2: I have the one prototype.
- 24:13Speaker 3: So that's to me, that's like a McFarland because that
- 24:16Speaker 3: that's more like statue.
- 24:18Speaker 2: Oh yeah, in the detail, it's really cool. It's definitely
- 24:20Speaker 2: you have the pro they gave you the program. I
- 24:22Speaker 2: have it in a little case my mom. I remember
- 24:24Speaker 2: I took it out one time to take a picture
- 24:26Speaker 2: of it, because I just leave it with my mom.
- 24:28Speaker 2: She likes to hold onto a second. She like panics. Man,
- 24:30Speaker 2: She's like, where is that? You know?
- 24:33Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 24:33Speaker 2: She thought I sold it.
- 24:34Speaker 4: I'm like, don't at little bit?
- 24:37Speaker 2: Yeah, probably did you have all these stuff? Like do
- 24:39Speaker 2: you have like one of everything? Yeah? I think, you know,
- 24:41Speaker 2: I was looking around it the other day. I think
- 24:43Speaker 2: there's at least one of everything a couple. Yeah, but
- 24:46Speaker 2: like so much stuff was lost. Man. And I know
- 24:48Speaker 2: here's another thing. I know we can all bond and
- 24:50Speaker 2: I'm sure you guys had a ton of VHS ticks
- 24:52Speaker 2: yeah for sure. Like when if you're in our bracket,
- 24:55Speaker 2: you collected him, you recorded programs, you paused on commercials. Yeah, yeah,
- 25:00Speaker 2: I had like a collection of four to five hundred tapes.
- 25:04Speaker 2: They ended up getting burnt up though. Like there was
- 25:06Speaker 2: that story some people have heard it where my mom's
- 25:08Speaker 2: house got set on fire by some crazy dude and man,
- 25:11Speaker 2: all including the Shawn Michael's poster by the way, which
- 25:13Speaker 2: is still up there. You know your mom keeps your
- 25:15Speaker 2: stuff up. Oh yeah, all that stuff was still up
- 25:18Speaker 2: in there. Man, it was burnt.
- 25:20Speaker 1: Won't we rip a tree out of the ground though.
- 25:22Speaker 2: Yeah, that's the way they reported it. There was a
- 25:27Speaker 2: tree blocking my mom's window, and like I knew where
- 25:29Speaker 2: she was, so I knew that that tree needed to go.
- 25:32Speaker 2: So what I actually did is I I burrowgged the
- 25:35Speaker 2: tree and kind of tackled it to the floors. Oh,
- 25:39Speaker 2: and that freed up the window so they could break
- 25:40Speaker 2: the window and I was able to scoop her out
- 25:43Speaker 2: of there and bring her to safety.
- 25:44Speaker 1: That's unbelievable.
- 25:46Speaker 2: It was crazy. But yeah, so much was lost in
- 25:48Speaker 2: that man, like all the all the tapes.
- 25:50Speaker 1: Yeah, I just I just barrowed the tree and tackle
- 25:52Speaker 1: the dad if.
- 25:54Speaker 2: It makes me better.
- 25:54Speaker 4: The tapes A probably dead anyway, with like oh yeah.
- 25:57Speaker 3: Now with like like I have a box of parents
- 25:59Speaker 3: and I'm like dreading getting I know that's not they're
- 26:00Speaker 3: an attic and not temperature controls and they're fried.
- 26:03Speaker 2: I'm sure they're fried. I know I'm worried about some
- 26:05Speaker 2: shoes I have in storage like that. Man, but that's
- 26:07Speaker 2: possible too. Yeah yeah, but shoot, man, I don't know
- 26:10Speaker 2: about like so here's another thing. I just remember. I
- 26:13Speaker 2: would always going the tape stores would always be kind
- 26:15Speaker 2: of fun though, because you would always be like, what
- 26:17Speaker 2: am I going to find? Every once in a while
- 26:18Speaker 2: you find like Summer Slam nineteen ninety.
- 26:21Speaker 1: Oh yes, and like it's so weird because back in
- 26:23Speaker 1: the day, whenever you get read over two three days,
- 26:25Speaker 1: I would watch Summer Slam ninety like five times, you know,
- 26:28Speaker 1: just sit there and watch it like over and over
- 26:30Speaker 1: and over. It's like, what are you doing?
- 26:32Speaker 4: That's when I've watched.
- 26:33Speaker 1: I watched over and over and over.
- 26:34Speaker 2: There were all these as you can tell, like you know,
- 26:37Speaker 2: there's all these things that we all share that.
- 26:39Speaker 3: Like, you know, it's pretty it's just part of the
- 26:40Speaker 3: fandom of that time, right, Yeah, it really is, man,
- 26:43Speaker 3: and it's.
- 26:44Speaker 2: Really cool to kind of reflect on it. Man. I
- 26:45Speaker 2: just think we were what's cool for us is, yeah,
- 26:48Speaker 2: we are in the business now, but we got to
- 26:50Speaker 2: be fans probably in the coolest time, you know, between
- 26:53Speaker 2: the Golden Era and then the Attitude era.
- 26:54Speaker 3: And I guess the other big thing for me is
- 26:56Speaker 3: that the little bit of like believing you don't know
- 26:59Speaker 3: what real, it's fake, whereas now everything's so transparent about
- 27:02Speaker 3: wrestling being a script and television show. I think back
- 27:05Speaker 3: then they were still like that, like what's going on here?
- 27:07Speaker 3: You know, there was still a little bit of that
- 27:08Speaker 3: right in there.
- 27:09Speaker 2: You know. Well in w w's felt so kind of
- 27:12Speaker 2: non gritty over the last few years too. Yeah, that's
- 27:15Speaker 2: that's kind of been missing for sure. Yeah.
- 27:18Speaker 4: Did you grab any of your Mattel's and then you
- 27:19Speaker 4: had too in your second run?
- 27:22Speaker 2: Yeah, I think I have them. I think I have
- 27:23Speaker 2: something with a beard I feel. Yeah, Yeah, it's got
- 27:26Speaker 2: that little uh yeah, because it was that Survivor series
- 27:28Speaker 2: one we did a yeah, I think it was a
- 27:30Speaker 2: Survivor Series one.
- 27:31Speaker 1: Yeah, So I got some some questions from our fans,
- 27:33Speaker 1: am I taking some questions. Yeah, yeah, let's do let's
- 27:36Speaker 1: see here. That's I'm sure there's gonna be some weird ones,
- 27:38Speaker 1: but uh, we'll just I haven't read these yet, so
- 27:41Speaker 1: we know we kind of know the answer to this.
- 27:43Speaker 1: But Victor Levy says, what's his collection? Like, do you
- 27:46Speaker 1: collect you said your shoes?
- 27:47Speaker 3: Right, Oh, the sneaker it's out of a base as
- 27:54Speaker 3: it's hard to get space figures.
- 27:55Speaker 4: I'm thinking a shoe box.
- 27:57Speaker 2: It's in storage, bro, it's in Storge. I got it.
- 27:59Speaker 2: I got no joke. I have about ninety pairs of
- 28:02Speaker 2: Kobe Bryant shoes of the various Kobe's, which you know
- 28:06Speaker 2: ended up turning into huge value because yeah, obviously he's
- 28:09Speaker 2: passed away. Yeah, Vanesla, But I've never intended I'm really
- 28:12Speaker 2: I just really love collecting sneakers, and now I've started
- 28:15Speaker 2: getting some Lebron James. I've never really been like, I
- 28:18Speaker 2: like Jordan's, but I'm not like a Jordan collector. I
- 28:20Speaker 2: feel like everybody collects Jordan's. But yeah, like sneakers are
- 28:23Speaker 2: you know, I feel like sneakers kind of took the
- 28:25Speaker 2: place of what, uh you know, I didn't have anything
- 28:27Speaker 2: for a while because I didn't, I stopped collecting, you know,
- 28:29Speaker 2: wrestling figures. After somewhere downline, I stopped, you know, like
- 28:33Speaker 2: I think I had a breakup and I lost all
- 28:35Speaker 2: those shorts because I was telling you just on this topic.
- 28:38Speaker 2: I used to go to Jackson Malibu, right, Yeah, I
- 28:40Speaker 2: lived in LA and they were Oh but they would
- 28:42Speaker 2: love it when I'd come down to They'd treat all
- 28:45Speaker 2: of us so well, and then I would just raid
- 28:46Speaker 2: the place like I get and you can tell I
- 28:50Speaker 2: still had fanom it, Like I grabbed the Shawn Michaels
- 28:53Speaker 2: and Bret Hart like Survivor's series pack. Yeah, two dudes
- 28:55Speaker 2: without itude. Yeah yeah, And I was just so excited
- 28:58Speaker 2: that they had them in awesome. I made a cool headquarters.
- 29:01Speaker 4: You guys went to the We got invited, like a
- 29:02Speaker 4: couple of actually went.
- 29:04Speaker 2: You guys loved it because it was right. It was
- 29:06Speaker 2: right in Malibu, right on the beach, a piece beautiful.
- 29:10Speaker 2: How is this is?
- 29:11Speaker 1: It's still there Jackson's.
- 29:13Speaker 2: The building is ATYS.
- 29:15Speaker 1: Yes, I don't know.
- 29:15Speaker 3: Yeah, we just don't have any like they're not. They
- 29:18Speaker 3: have no ties to wrestling anymore, so we have.
- 29:19Speaker 1: No real back to the shoes though, So there's definitely
- 29:22Speaker 1: shoes that you've never worn that you still absolutely I.
- 29:25Speaker 3: Don't even like this is why I'm not a snicker
- 29:27Speaker 3: guy at all. So, like how do you decide what
- 29:29Speaker 3: you actually put on your feet?
- 29:30Speaker 2: Though? Because like, well, here's the thing, some nervous that's
- 29:33Speaker 2: the thing. Some of them are so rare and the
- 29:36Speaker 2: value is so high, and that's when you're like you
- 29:38Speaker 2: have to make a choice. You're either gonna wear them
- 29:41Speaker 2: casually or you're just you're gonna wear them kind of
- 29:44Speaker 2: for a special event, or you're just not wearing that
- 29:45Speaker 2: at all, because, like you said, some of those shoes
- 29:48Speaker 2: are the value so high that you're gonna if you
- 29:50Speaker 2: wear them out and somebody steps on there, it's going
- 29:53Speaker 2: to be like a fighting situation, you know what I mean.
- 29:55Speaker 2: So yeah, it's like.
- 29:56Speaker 3: That's what I was earlier about vintage wrestling shirts are
- 29:58Speaker 3: wear so much money. Now I can't wear mine because
- 30:01Speaker 3: I don't want to be out like in this three
- 30:02Speaker 3: in dollar shirt, Like.
- 30:03Speaker 2: No, and you shouldn't, you know, you shouldn't. Yeah, Like
- 30:06Speaker 2: so I just there's certain shoes that side these are
- 30:08Speaker 2: shoes I'm gonna wear out. I like these they look good,
- 30:10Speaker 2: and some of these shoes don't even look good to
- 30:12Speaker 2: wear on. Honestly.
- 30:12Speaker 1: That's how I do have like these Ghostbuster shoes that
- 30:16Speaker 1: have like these like wires coming out of them, so
- 30:18Speaker 1: that I've never word but that I have because they're
- 30:20Speaker 1: Ghostbuster shoes. So it's kind of it's like I can't understand.
- 30:23Speaker 2: That's kind of something you'd more just kind of like
- 30:25Speaker 2: you know, once I settle somewhere, I'll probably like displace.
- 30:28Speaker 1: Sure. Yeah, this is an interesting question, Kevin Ford says.
- 30:31Speaker 1: The body they used on his fifteen point five figure,
- 30:34Speaker 1: that's your first figure versus later figures. We're way more
- 30:38Speaker 1: jacked later on. Did you have anything to say about that?
- 30:40Speaker 2: Yeah? I told them every time I need to be
- 30:43Speaker 2: more tan, I need to need more jack. I like this.
- 30:47Speaker 4: We see I've been on emails or Matt telling them
- 30:49Speaker 4: I need to be more tan and more Jacks.
- 30:51Speaker 1: That's right.
- 30:52Speaker 2: Thanks, guys, that just pounded.
- 30:54Speaker 1: You gotta tell them, you gotta tell them, you gotta
- 30:56Speaker 1: tell them. Okay, here's a good one. Aaron or t
- 31:00Speaker 1: how did he end up with the master lock being
- 31:02Speaker 1: his finisher and other than himself, who does the best
- 31:05Speaker 1: full Nelson?
- 31:06Speaker 2: Okay, well, let me just come right back to one thing.
- 31:07Speaker 2: I just thought of one with you guys. How big
- 31:09Speaker 2: of a travesty is it that they never made a
- 31:11Speaker 2: masterpiece figure with a cape. They never made one a
- 31:14Speaker 2: ca Yeah, right right, not one.
- 31:17Speaker 3: Well, that's that's what we call soft goods in the business.
- 31:19Speaker 3: And there's there's cost there's there's costs behind that.
- 31:24Speaker 1: I could see like a Mattel like Elite Chris, if
- 31:28Speaker 1: you were in the w W roster now, But even
- 31:29Speaker 1: if they did, like a flashback like that term those
- 31:33Speaker 1: soft goods. Yeah, I like, so who came up with
- 31:37Speaker 1: the master loc Okay?
- 31:39Speaker 2: We were trying to find a finish for me and
- 31:41Speaker 2: like you guys probably remember, right around that time, they'd
- 31:44Speaker 2: done such crazy stuff that they were trying to recondition
- 31:47Speaker 2: the fans. So they were trying to find it finished
- 31:49Speaker 2: for me, and we tried some various bumps, but nothing
- 31:51Speaker 2: was really making anybody happy. So I think it was
- 31:54Speaker 2: arn Anderson or Triple H or a combination of both
- 31:57Speaker 2: of them, you know what I mean. They were And
- 31:59Speaker 2: the whole idea was to first of all, it's obviously
- 32:01Speaker 2: a very effective move, it's leg but to get wrestling
- 32:04Speaker 2: fans to buy into these legit holds again because like
- 32:07Speaker 2: we needed that at that point, you know what I mean.
- 32:09Speaker 2: So that was the whole idea, and I was a
- 32:11Speaker 2: little as you guys probably would have. I was a
- 32:13Speaker 2: little nervous about it because I knew that it was
- 32:15Speaker 2: so basic. I'm like, would I have been excited about?
- 32:19Speaker 2: So it really like when the time of set you
- 32:21Speaker 2: park is knowing had anything like it? Did?
- 32:23Speaker 4: It did?
- 32:23Speaker 2: But you got it. It was difficult for me to, like,
- 32:27Speaker 2: I don't know if.
- 32:27Speaker 1: I was about a masterlinck uhl one even says, ask
- 32:34Speaker 1: him to tell you his best wizard story, and then
- 32:36Speaker 1: we included the wizard. Last it is. I don't think
- 32:40Speaker 1: we're gonna talk.
- 32:43Speaker 2: Wizard.
- 32:44Speaker 1: Holy shit.
- 32:47Speaker 2: I missed out on some money, that's for sure.
- 32:51Speaker 1: Mike Gardner says, what was it like getting that main
- 32:53Speaker 1: event pushed with Carlito? Were you happy?
- 32:55Speaker 2: Nervous? Oh? Absolutely, nervous at times, but yeah, it was
- 32:59Speaker 2: very high. It was. Carlito was great for me because
- 33:02Speaker 2: what I needed at that point was like, and you
- 33:04Speaker 2: guys are probably you guys have probably noticed this working
- 33:08Speaker 2: with each other. Sometimes it's good to have somebody to
- 33:09Speaker 2: play off of. Course, and especially at that point for me,
- 33:12Speaker 2: because it's hard sometimes, especially that early, to really get
- 33:15Speaker 2: your personality across because you got so much going on
- 33:18Speaker 2: in your head and you're nervous and whatnot. So Carly
- 33:21Speaker 2: was able to you know, we had a good dynamic too,
- 33:23Speaker 2: like a good we still have a natural chemistry. Like
- 33:25Speaker 2: that's one of the things that I feel like people
- 33:27Speaker 2: pop for me the most. And you guys will identified
- 33:30Speaker 2: with this again, but like they'll see Carlito and me
- 33:32Speaker 2: still hanging out to this day, and people really genuinely.
- 33:35Speaker 3: Get so happy about that. And carl even get nervous.
- 33:38Speaker 3: He's just one of those guys, right.
- 33:39Speaker 2: Oh yeah, no, he like his gimmick is a shoe man.
- 33:43Speaker 2: He's always yeah. He don't sweat nothing. You don't get
- 33:47Speaker 2: too high, he don't get too low. But I love that,
- 33:49Speaker 2: you know, that's cool, It's cool, Edward Flex says. Ask
- 33:52Speaker 2: him the story about choking out Shelton Benjamin out with
- 33:55Speaker 2: the Master. Lock met him last month and he was
- 33:57Speaker 2: proud of that story. Ah yeah, only because of what
- 34:01Speaker 2: you know, when I first did the full Nelson, being
- 34:04Speaker 2: that green, there was a few times you know, they
- 34:06Speaker 2: genu up to like you know, be real aggressive, be
- 34:08Speaker 2: real aggressive, but you still kind of at that point,
- 34:10Speaker 2: at least for me, you don't really know how to
- 34:12Speaker 2: fake aggressiveness that well, you know, like I'm much better
- 34:15Speaker 2: now obviously. But so there were times where, and especially
- 34:18Speaker 2: the bigger the guy was around the neck and stuff, Yes,
- 34:21Speaker 2: it would be tight. So like with Shelton, what he's
- 34:24Speaker 2: talking about is there was a time on raw where
- 34:26Speaker 2: I put him in it and I basically made him
- 34:28Speaker 2: pass out because I did it too aggressive. Man. Yeah,
- 34:31Speaker 2: well no, but that wasn't even the only It did
- 34:34Speaker 2: also happen one time with Shane, and that time was
- 34:36Speaker 2: a little more stand out because Shane helms. He got
- 34:39Speaker 2: and I can talk about this because I think we
- 34:41Speaker 2: talked about it open and we're really cool now. But
- 34:43Speaker 2: I did it to him too stiff, and he got
- 34:45Speaker 2: really mad one time. This was at a house show
- 34:47Speaker 2: and you know, we finished the match ding ding ding,
- 34:49Speaker 2: and he doesn't even sell it. He gets up, he
- 34:51Speaker 2: tells me to f off and whoa, yeah, oh yeah,
- 34:55Speaker 2: it was big heat in the back. I mean, you know,
- 34:57Speaker 2: he took a brund of the heat because of the
- 34:59Speaker 2: way he reacts to it. Obviously, it doesn't look good
- 35:02Speaker 2: on me if I'm doing.
- 35:03Speaker 4: Two wrongs to make it right.
- 35:04Speaker 2: Right. Yeah, but you know we I think he I
- 35:07Speaker 2: talked to him later, and I think, guys, really, I
- 35:09Speaker 2: didn't hurt too many guys. I mean, obviously there was
- 35:11Speaker 2: the Stevie incident with the nose, but like that was
- 35:14Speaker 2: the master No, it was a Polish hammer. But I
- 35:16Speaker 2: just though about hurting guys in general. You know, people
- 35:18Speaker 2: knew that I wasn't like, you know, there was a
- 35:19Speaker 2: certain point where they knew. He knew I wasn't trying
- 35:22Speaker 2: to be that step just I needed to learn, you know,
- 35:25Speaker 2: Shakespeare and theater of it. Now we know you could
- 35:27Speaker 2: have done that with your face and that you're yeah, yeah,
- 35:31Speaker 2: well and you just know how to use your body about.
- 35:34Speaker 1: Albert Justice, Albani's who are your dream opponents that you
- 35:37Speaker 1: never got to face because you got to wrestle like
- 35:38Speaker 1: a lot of those top top guys Michael Tripple, Ah.
- 35:42Speaker 2: Yeah, which was so fun, man, Like those tag matches
- 35:44Speaker 2: and stuff. You know, like the matches the people didn't
- 35:47Speaker 2: get to see where the but obviously you guys did
- 35:49Speaker 2: saw some of them. Was you know, the tag matches
- 35:51Speaker 2: on the house shows on those were the matches that
- 35:54Speaker 2: really taught me everything because I'd be teaming with Hunter
- 35:56Speaker 2: against Sewan and Flair. And I always go back to
- 35:59Speaker 2: the main thing that stood out, like initially out of
- 36:01Speaker 2: everything watching them work on the Apron was how calm
- 36:05Speaker 2: and relaxed they were calling everything. They just you know,
- 36:08Speaker 2: there was never a moment where they're like they're calling
- 36:11Speaker 2: something in a h you know, all stressed out or
- 36:14Speaker 2: panicky or anything like that, and it was just and
- 36:16Speaker 2: you know, and to go back to where you saying,
- 36:18Speaker 2: it was like, what am I doing out here?
- 36:19Speaker 1: Right?
- 36:21Speaker 2: Am I so many things? And then I would also
- 36:24Speaker 2: think about how you had these almost like all these
- 36:26Speaker 2: different generations. You had Shawn and Flair who looked up
- 36:29Speaker 2: to nature, and then you had me who looked up
- 36:31Speaker 2: essentially all of them, mainly you know, the HPKA and
- 36:34Speaker 2: even you know a bit Hunter after Sean, but you know,
- 36:37Speaker 2: Sean was always my guy. But to go to the
- 36:39Speaker 2: guys I haven't worked off the top of my head
- 36:41Speaker 2: right now, I'd say, I'm Brett Hart and Andre the Giant,
- 36:44Speaker 2: Oh wow, like those I've always thought of Andre because
- 36:47Speaker 2: I've never physically seen him in front of me. And
- 36:49Speaker 2: it would just be such a trip to be in
- 36:51Speaker 2: the ring with the guy and look at that and
- 36:53Speaker 2: sell for him. Like how fun would it be to
- 36:55Speaker 2: self and think about it to have Andre give you
- 36:57Speaker 2: one shot.
- 36:58Speaker 4: And just even put them out suck on on.
- 37:00Speaker 2: Oh no, no, no no, but it would be fun
- 37:03Speaker 2: to attempt it, think about think about I already know
- 37:06Speaker 2: what we do. He'd lift me up on his back
- 37:08Speaker 2: and squashed me in the corner and then give me
- 37:10Speaker 2: that ass ram.
- 37:11Speaker 1: Oh yeah, that spot on the kid.
- 37:14Speaker 2: You think I thought about this previously, I should have it.
- 37:17Speaker 2: It's all coming to me now. But and then Brett
- 37:19Speaker 2: Hart just goes without saying what I mean. And I
- 37:21Speaker 2: think I told you guys. It was like three weeks
- 37:23Speaker 2: ago as in Calgary, and his wife saw that I
- 37:25Speaker 2: was out there and she invited me over and I
- 37:27Speaker 2: got to sit with the hit man for like three
- 37:30Speaker 2: and a half hours. I left it like three thirty
- 37:32Speaker 2: in the morning, just oh my god. Yeah, And it
- 37:34Speaker 2: was it was just it was so cool man, like
- 37:36Speaker 2: just you know, you know how he loves to talk
- 37:38Speaker 2: for sure. Yeah, and we FTR eat your heart out.
- 37:42Speaker 1: Yeah, we've talked about it before, like Brent and Sean
- 37:44Speaker 1: were two guys that we all saw their tag team.
- 37:48Speaker 1: I see guy, we saw them work up. They were
- 37:51Speaker 1: the first two that we got to see work up
- 37:53Speaker 1: from the not the bottom of the car, but the
- 37:55Speaker 1: tag team ranks all the way to the top. So
- 37:57Speaker 1: I think that's so many people in larger than life busy.
- 38:00Speaker 1: So it made it more like we all GRAVI because
- 38:03Speaker 1: we followed their story. Was that the PM foundation I
- 38:06Speaker 1: see run you.
- 38:07Speaker 2: Know it was it was I always go back to
- 38:09Speaker 2: that exact thing you said, like, and that's what pulled
- 38:11Speaker 2: me back into wrestling in ninety five. Like and Brett Hart, Yeah,
- 38:14Speaker 2: he was a part of that too, because just seeing
- 38:17Speaker 2: that ascend, you know what I mean to see like
- 38:19Speaker 2: a guy like that you love as the inner car
- 38:22Speaker 2: tagg wrestler, but then you know, you really start getting
- 38:25Speaker 2: on boarded. It's the growth. Yeah, and the inner conn
- 38:28Speaker 2: I think that's why.
- 38:28Speaker 3: And you can't manufacture, but something like that will always
- 38:31Speaker 3: trump like the Mega.
- 38:34Speaker 2: This guy can't be beat.
- 38:35Speaker 3: He can't take a bump for you, Like, yeah, fans
- 38:37Speaker 3: can see right through that and they'll gravitate too. Yes,
- 38:40Speaker 3: I've looked at that and watching him, you know, Chug
- 38:43Speaker 3: along through the years.
- 38:44Speaker 2: You know, when they debut, guys, I look at that
- 38:46Speaker 2: and I'm like, you know, it's like cool that you're
- 38:47Speaker 2: getting hotshotted, but like you know, it's guys. To watch
- 38:50Speaker 2: the guys who had that journey. And I just again,
- 38:53Speaker 2: I just remember when I started watching in ninety five,
- 38:55Speaker 2: I couldn't believe, like that this guy who was in
- 38:57Speaker 2: the or not not ninety five, many twelve, yep. And
- 39:01Speaker 2: when I saw the Iron Man match, or even starting
- 39:03Speaker 2: at the Rumble that year, to see that guy who
- 39:05Speaker 2: was a rocker and going to a guy I really
- 39:08Speaker 2: liked to with Sherry and becoming innercona and then to
- 39:11Speaker 2: start appreciating what those guys all brought, which was rather
- 39:14Speaker 2: than the physiques and the over the top person out,
- 39:17Speaker 2: they brought the athleticism and they were able to flow
- 39:20Speaker 2: around the ring unlike anybody's mister perfect and you know
- 39:23Speaker 2: Rick Flair's in that class. I mean that those are
- 39:25Speaker 2: you know, when I think of my favorite workers, it
- 39:27Speaker 2: was always those guys man, because they covered you know
- 39:29Speaker 2: what I mean, they were all around the ring, bumping
- 39:31Speaker 2: around and like just a bumping athletic heel.
- 39:34Speaker 1: And speaking of Ric Flair, our first overseas tour. You
- 39:37Speaker 1: were on it and you worked Flair like the whole
- 39:39Speaker 1: loop singles, working Flair like on a tour.
- 39:42Speaker 2: And it's so funny you brought that up because I
- 39:43Speaker 2: don't know if you remember, but he was pissed at
- 39:45Speaker 2: me on that tour.
- 39:46Speaker 1: I mean, I didn't want to bring it up. I
- 39:48Speaker 1: remember he walked it. It's like working Lager.
- 39:54Speaker 2: And it's so weird.
- 39:55Speaker 1: I was gonna say, but it's.
- 39:57Speaker 2: Hard to even talk about because you just like, how
- 40:00Speaker 2: did it even get to that? Because like I understand
- 40:02Speaker 2: what that moment means.
- 40:03Speaker 1: You're working Rick Flair and we're working these big.
- 40:05Speaker 4: Houses Singapore, Perth, the massive arenas every night.
- 40:09Speaker 2: I just think, honestly, I had like there were a
- 40:11Speaker 2: lot of personal issues going on at that time, because
- 40:13Speaker 2: you know a lot of people know I was battling,
- 40:14Speaker 2: like the Pillar thing and all that. We're busy, But
- 40:18Speaker 2: like the one thing about that tour I was remember,
- 40:21Speaker 2: so like the first two matches, yeah, they didn't go
- 40:22Speaker 2: great for whatever reason. I don't know what the problem was, honestly,
- 40:25Speaker 2: and I feel shameless it. But on the third night
- 40:28Speaker 2: we worked in Perth, right, yeah, like I said, and
- 40:30Speaker 2: it was this huge house, right, and I remember me
- 40:33Speaker 2: and Rick and me went for like twenty two minutes
- 40:36Speaker 2: and like I was able to redeem myself in that
- 40:38Speaker 2: match again for whatever reason, and that one I knew,
- 40:41Speaker 2: you know, they had already reamed me out. My other
- 40:43Speaker 2: memory of that that just sparked.
- 40:44Speaker 4: You lost your bags and you did the whole tour
- 40:46Speaker 4: and these like Bob Marley like board show.
- 40:48Speaker 1: Oh my, all you had was like.
- 40:51Speaker 2: The tour shirt.
- 40:53Speaker 3: And this is back when like Dresco was like real.
- 40:55Speaker 3: So we're all like, looks like we're going to church
- 40:57Speaker 3: and then you're just chilling a lot with Bob Harley.
- 41:00Speaker 2: I love those, Bob, because because I recognized the ridiculousness,
- 41:06Speaker 2: you know what I mean, like and I would wear
- 41:08Speaker 2: them the TV taping all that makes feeling better.
- 41:11Speaker 3: The main amount of all those shows is Fatista Collie
- 41:13Speaker 3: and he couldn't get going at him to save his life.
- 41:15Speaker 2: Oh yeah, Dave.
- 41:17Speaker 3: And we don't know David all this point, we're terrified
- 41:19Speaker 3: of him, and we wound up become a buddy and
- 41:21Speaker 3: he's a nice guy ever, but he would come back
- 41:22Speaker 3: to the curtain go every guy like so like go
- 41:25Speaker 3: nuts like and we were like, whoa ship and it
- 41:27Speaker 3: was so intimidating.
- 41:29Speaker 2: Yeah, those were brutal. And then they's the first tour,
- 41:30Speaker 2: so you know, you know what they did what they
- 41:33Speaker 2: did adventures, they just turned them into tag matches.
- 41:35Speaker 1: I think, yeah, I think so Yeah. Well, I mean
- 41:37Speaker 1: we went like almost an hour we just shooting the ship.
- 41:40Speaker 1: Thank you very much for.
- 41:41Speaker 3: Doing moments of all time. I got said, we've never
- 41:43Speaker 3: had a stinker. We've had so many matches.
- 41:45Speaker 1: I think I think we've only worked.
- 41:47Speaker 2: We have chemistry from days well by me, we'll have
- 41:49Speaker 2: some great opportunities here. Man, I look forward to you're
- 41:51Speaker 2: getting healthy. I like, you know, just while I'm on here,
- 41:53Speaker 2: I just love what you've been doing. We're allowed to
- 41:55Speaker 2: talk about this, but I guess I was really bummed
- 41:58Speaker 2: when the injury went down because I just liked, uh,
- 42:01Speaker 2: you know, the energy.
- 42:02Speaker 1: Thank you very much.
- 42:03Speaker 2: Like hopefully we'll get some matches up coming, and I.
- 42:06Speaker 1: Would hope that n w A gets some sort of
- 42:08Speaker 1: figure deal because you're what we calling the biz toye.
- 42:11Speaker 3: You have all that entrance, do you think, Hi, while
