Latest / The Mark Simone Show / Hour 1: John Bolton pleads guilty.
Transcript
- 0:01Speaker 1: Now Seor presents Mark Simon Shaw. Well just wait, hang on,
- 0:17Speaker 1: just checking this breaking news here. John Bolton. You know,
- 0:21Speaker 1: he pled guilty to a couple of charges. Apparently there's
- 0:25Speaker 1: more charges and this just breaking. Bolton will plead guilty
- 0:29Speaker 1: to them too. Bolton will plead guilty to everything. You
- 0:33Speaker 1: know why, because he's guilty of everything. And you remember
- 0:37Speaker 1: all your left wing crazies, all your left wing commentators,
- 0:42Speaker 1: all your fake news kept telling you that the charges
- 0:45Speaker 1: against Bolton, why it was just drummed up Trump going
- 0:48Speaker 1: after a political enemy. What was law fair? Just phony
- 0:52Speaker 1: charges to target a political opponent. Well, no, they were
- 0:56Speaker 1: all pretty accurate. They were all totally accurate because Bolton
- 1:00Speaker 1: agreed to plead guilty to all of them. Reason you
- 1:03Speaker 1: plead guilty is after you've worked with your lawyers for
- 1:06Speaker 1: a while and they tell you there is absolutely no
- 1:09Speaker 1: way to beat these charges. You're going to get convicted,
- 1:11Speaker 1: So you plead guilty, you know, save the expense of
- 1:15Speaker 1: a trial for the state, and then they give you
- 1:17Speaker 1: a little lighter sentence. So I don't know if he'll
- 1:20Speaker 1: go to jail. You know, they could come up with
- 1:22Speaker 1: all kinds of other things that there was already a
- 1:24Speaker 1: massive fine on him, but Bolton to plead guilty. It's
- 1:30Speaker 1: going to be a kind of a tough weekend. It's Friday,
- 1:33Speaker 1: already tough weekend for the fake news, especially the Sunday shows.
- 1:36Speaker 1: They're looking for things to attack President Trump over straight. Oh,
- 1:40Speaker 1: Hormoose has been pretty much open for the last few weeks.
- 1:43Speaker 1: So there was a shooting at a ship was targeted.
- 1:47Speaker 1: That's one ship, but meantime, you know, forty or fifty
- 1:50Speaker 1: been coming through, so they'll use that. It's not that exciting.
- 1:57Speaker 1: So I think they're going to be down to the
- 2:00Speaker 1: Reflecting Pool. That's going to be like a big issue,
- 2:03Speaker 1: you know, every Sunday morning, of course all day long
- 2:06Speaker 1: on CNN and MSN, NBC. They got to attack him
- 2:09Speaker 1: day and night. But the Sunday shows have got to
- 2:10Speaker 1: come up with some real attacks, and it's going to
- 2:15Speaker 1: be reflecting Pool kind of stuff. You know, to most Americans,
- 2:17Speaker 1: they're really not concerned that there was some algae in
- 2:20Speaker 1: a pool in Washington, d C. The Reflecting Pool is
- 2:24Speaker 1: a beautiful thing. It's a beautiful monument. But during the
- 2:27Speaker 1: Obama Biden years, it was total disaster. It was absolute shambles,
- 2:34Speaker 1: a total mess. It was all dirty and filthy and discussing.
- 2:38Speaker 1: That's why President Trump decided to fix it. But for
- 2:41Speaker 1: all those years that it was totally totally crumbling, de king,
- 2:45Speaker 1: no coverage of it, all, no mention of it. And
- 2:48Speaker 1: now they're going after President Trump left and right now,
- 2:50Speaker 1: trying to make it look like he doesn't know what
- 2:52Speaker 1: he's doing. Do you realize the odds of this? What
- 2:54Speaker 1: a coincidence is this? At the time the pool needs fixing,
- 2:58Speaker 1: you happen to have a president in the world use
- 3:01Speaker 1: who's an expert on building swimming pools. He's built about
- 3:04Speaker 1: four hundred of them in his lifetime all over the world.
- 3:08Speaker 1: There are the odds of that when you need it fixed,
- 3:11Speaker 1: the guy in office is a swimming pool builder for years,
- 3:15Speaker 1: for forty years, he's been building swimming pools. He knows
- 3:17Speaker 1: all the best swimming pool companies, and when it comes
- 3:20Speaker 1: to building stuff, he's very hands on. He knows every
- 3:22Speaker 1: detail of everything. So he's built plenty of pools. Now,
- 3:26Speaker 1: you got the It was at the New York Times
- 3:27Speaker 1: the other day. They apparently the reporter stuck a cup
- 3:31Speaker 1: in there and got a cupful of water out of
- 3:33Speaker 1: that pool. They said, we took it to a swimming
- 3:36Speaker 1: pool company, a pool company, and they analyzed it for us,
- 3:40Speaker 1: and they said it's not the proper pH level, like
- 3:43Speaker 1: they even know what they're doing. And who knows what
- 3:45Speaker 1: pool company they found. You know, those Sunday shows always
- 3:49Speaker 1: have Hakeem Jeffries on, and Schumer tries to get on them.
- 3:54Speaker 1: They don't like to have him on too much because
- 3:55Speaker 1: he's so decrepit looking. But Hakeem Jeffries is on every
- 4:00Speaker 1: and he's attacking the president left and right. Now here's
- 4:02Speaker 1: the problem for these guys, Hakeem Jeffries. I don't know
- 4:06Speaker 1: where he really stands. He pretends to be a huge
- 4:10Speaker 1: Trump hater. He pretends to be a far left Trump
- 4:14Speaker 1: derangement syndrome lunatic. But I think it's kind of an act.
- 4:18Speaker 1: You know, he stands there very robotic and recites memorized stuff. Schumer,
- 4:22Speaker 1: you know, is a complete phony. Schumer doesn't believe in anything. Nothing.
- 4:28Speaker 1: Schumer just pandering to the crowd, cheap hustling, pandering, fake politician,
- 4:34Speaker 1: reading those index cards. Every word out of his mouth
- 4:37Speaker 1: was written by a bunch of staffers. Even anything they
- 4:40Speaker 1: put in front of him. He's reading, so he's totally inauthentic. Now,
- 4:44Speaker 1: the problem is today's young Democrats, these crazy mom Donnie
- 4:50Speaker 1: voting aoc loving, these kind of crazy socialist left wing Democrats.
- 4:56Speaker 1: The one thing they want is authenticity. They want a
- 5:00Speaker 1: lot of crazy stuff, but they want their crazies to
- 5:02Speaker 1: be authentic. And you look at a guy like Mom Donnie,
- 5:05Speaker 1: he looks authentic, he looks like he really believes this nonsense. Schumer,
- 5:11Speaker 1: Hakeem Jeffries pretend that they believe it. But it's not
- 5:14Speaker 1: fooling these younger people. They know these are old fossils
- 5:17Speaker 1: just pretending. So they're now calling. In fact, most of
- 5:21Speaker 1: the new breed of Democrats in the Congress are now
- 5:25Speaker 1: calling for new leadership. Democrats calling for Hakim Jeffries to
- 5:29Speaker 1: be out as the leader, calling for Schumer to be
- 5:32Speaker 1: out as the leader. They want to get some real, actual,
- 5:36Speaker 1: authentic people to lead them. Now here's a good example
- 5:40Speaker 1: of a totally inauthentic Kathy Hochel. Now she was put
- 5:45Speaker 1: in there by Andrew Cuomo. Another horrible thing Cuomo did
- 5:48Speaker 1: to New York. Besides all the terrible things he did,
- 5:51Speaker 1: the no crime, no bail, no jail, you know, the
- 5:54Speaker 1: closing the prisons, closing Indian Point, all the horrible things
- 5:57Speaker 1: he did. He gave us Kathy Hochel, who's he's just
- 6:00Speaker 1: a total mediocre nothing governor who just panders and plays along.
- 6:06Speaker 1: She's trying to pretend, now she's a left wing democrat, socialist,
- 6:11Speaker 1: but totally inauthentic. Nobody believes anything shows it looks like
- 6:15Speaker 1: a looks like one of those real estate women in
- 6:18Speaker 1: the suburbs, you know, nail pounding the sign into the
- 6:21Speaker 1: ground in front of the house, one of those one
- 6:24Speaker 1: of those real estate agents you don't trust. She's got
- 6:26Speaker 1: that look about her. But just to show you how
- 6:29Speaker 1: inauthentic she is, Buffalo the game. She's trying to start
- 6:35Speaker 1: pretending she's a fan of Buffalo. She's not a sports
- 6:41Speaker 1: fan at all. Remember she pretended she's a football fan.
- 6:43Speaker 1: She pretends she's a soccer fan. So she's trying to
- 6:46Speaker 1: lead the crowd in a chance. She's trying to get
- 6:48Speaker 1: the crowd to cheer for Buffalo. They're not buying it.
- 6:51Speaker 1: They know she's a phony, fake fraud there. Nobody's chanting
- 6:55Speaker 1: along with it. This is the most pathetic thing ever
- 6:57Speaker 1: listened to this.
- 6:58Speaker 2: Let's get this parties are let's go, Let's go Buffalo.
- 7:04Speaker 2: Let's go Buffalo. Let's go Buffalo.
- 7:08Speaker 3: All right?
- 7:08Speaker 2: Seriously, you want, you want. You're gonna win a championship
- 7:11Speaker 2: season with that kind of enthusiasm. Men and women of labor,
- 7:15Speaker 2: you know what I'm talking about. Let's go Buffalo. Let's
- 7:18Speaker 2: go Buffalo. We gotta get his play some good karma.
- 7:22Speaker 1: Right, nobody's chatting with it at the end of you
- 7:25Speaker 1: here a few, but that's your staff. It's pathetic.
- 7:29Speaker 2: Let's get this party star, Let's go. Let's go Buffalo.
- 7:34Speaker 2: Let's go Buffalo. Let's go Buffalo, all right.
- 7:38Speaker 1: Seriously, Yeah, they don't like you, they don't trust you,
- 7:41Speaker 1: they don't believe you. They think you're a fake, a
- 7:43Speaker 1: phony affront. So Bruce Blakeman, I think he's got a
- 7:48Speaker 1: hell of a good chance. We'll get the best poster
- 7:50Speaker 1: in the world coming up later in the show. We'll
- 7:52Speaker 1: get some some real intel on that Bruce Blakeman should
- 7:56Speaker 1: be the governor. Vote for him in November. Bruce Blakeman
- 8:00Speaker 1: and the only thing I can save this. Also, you
- 8:03Speaker 1: need a real solid guy like that to stand up
- 8:06Speaker 1: to Mom. Donnie Alvin Bragg all that stuff. Hey, by
- 8:11Speaker 1: the way, next week, fourth of July next it's hard
- 8:14Speaker 1: to believe it's the fourth of July. Next week, next weekend,
- 8:18Speaker 1: so a week from today that would be July third,
- 8:23Speaker 1: and a week from yesterday. So coming up this coming
- 8:26Speaker 1: week Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Taylor Swift takes over Madison Square Garden.
- 8:33Speaker 1: Apparently this is gonna be a three day thing and
- 8:36Speaker 1: it's gonna disrupt everything. They're talking. They got the permits
- 8:39Speaker 1: filed for street closures, just like with the Knicks games
- 8:43Speaker 1: closing Madison Square Garden and the surrounding blocks. It's going
- 8:47Speaker 1: to be a disaster for traffic. And if you're trying
- 8:50Speaker 1: to get to Penn Station, I don't know how that's
- 8:51Speaker 1: gonna work. But apparently here's the deal. On July second,
- 8:56Speaker 1: she's gonna get married to Track Kelsey. It's gonna they're
- 9:01Speaker 1: describing it as an intimate ceremony and you're saying intimate
- 9:05Speaker 1: Madison Square Garden. Well, apparently it's only going to be
- 9:07Speaker 1: one hundred people family, one hundred people just family for
- 9:11Speaker 1: the intimate wedding that's on July second, Then on July third,
- 9:16Speaker 1: the next day that'll be a week from today Friday,
- 9:19Speaker 1: they're going to do a party for two thousand people.
- 9:22Speaker 1: That'll be in Madison Square Garden, which holds like twenty
- 9:25Speaker 1: five thousand people, So it's going to feel intimate in
- 9:28Speaker 1: the garden. But that'll be about two thousand people. But
- 9:31Speaker 1: they've filed permits for street closures for all sorts of stuff.
- 9:35Speaker 1: In fact, I'll be closing an entire block to set
- 9:38Speaker 1: just to set up a tent outside Madison Square Garden.
- 9:42Speaker 1: I assume the tent is to check people in. You'll
- 9:46Speaker 1: pull up and go into the tent, which will be closed.
- 9:49Speaker 1: That way, nobody can see in, people can't take pictures.
- 9:52Speaker 1: So just remember if you're trying to get anywhere near
- 9:54Speaker 1: the garden, penn station, or anything. Next Thursday, Friday, Saturday,
- 10:01Speaker 1: it's gonna be a disaster. Next week is fourth of July,
- 10:06Speaker 1: and it's more than that, it's the two hundred and
- 10:08Speaker 1: fiftieth birthday of America. It'll be celebrating America, the flag,
- 10:13Speaker 1: our country. So be nice to your liberal friends. It's
- 10:16Speaker 1: going to be a very tough week for them. They
- 10:18Speaker 1: don't like this, they don't like celebrating America. They don't
- 10:23Speaker 1: like the fireworks. They don't like any of this. It's
- 10:25Speaker 1: gonna be a very, very upsetting week for them. And
- 10:29Speaker 1: if you have Apple products, if you're like me and
- 10:33Speaker 1: you'll love Apple, and you got an Apple iPhone, you
- 10:35Speaker 1: got an iPad, you got a Mac, and you know,
- 10:40Speaker 1: coming into the time of year where the new stuff
- 10:41Speaker 1: comes out, there's going to be a huge price increase.
- 10:44Speaker 1: Apple price increase up to five hundred dollars increase on
- 10:48Speaker 1: some things. They're having a big problem getting chips now.
- 10:52Speaker 1: The problem is AI uses up all these memory chips
- 10:56Speaker 1: and all these chips that they need, and normally Apple
- 11:01Speaker 1: doesn't have to worry about that stuff. Apple is such
- 11:03Speaker 1: a big buyer. They have such incredible buying power that
- 11:07Speaker 1: they're always first in line and even when there's a shortage,
- 11:10Speaker 1: they can always get the stuff before anybody else. Well,
- 11:13Speaker 1: that's all changed. The big, big, big AI companies buy
- 11:16Speaker 1: so much of this stuff, much more than Apple. They
- 11:19Speaker 1: got more buying power than Apple. So Apple has gone
- 11:22Speaker 1: to the back of the line, having trouble keeping that
- 11:25Speaker 1: supply chain, going, having trouble getting the stuff they need.
- 11:30Speaker 1: So it's going to be a different era. Apple stock
- 11:33Speaker 1: dropping a bit because it's again a whole different world
- 11:37Speaker 1: for them hanging. I'm looking for the price of oil,
- 11:40Speaker 1: just talking about price increases. You know, with things settling
- 11:44Speaker 1: down in Iran, stock market is way up. Uh oh.
- 11:49Speaker 1: If you're a Democrat, you might want to turn off
- 11:52Speaker 1: the radio for a minute. You not going to want
- 11:54Speaker 1: to hear this. Oil is back down in the sixties,
- 11:58Speaker 1: sixty nine dollars a barrel. It's pre Iran war price
- 12:02Speaker 1: sixty nine dollars a barrel. Average gas price is down
- 12:06Speaker 1: to about three dollars eighty five cents. Now, you got
- 12:09Speaker 1: to remember when things are settled in the strait is
- 12:12Speaker 1: open and the oil is flowing. Price of oil it's
- 12:15Speaker 1: a commodity, you know, the barrels of oil, that's a commodity.
- 12:19Speaker 1: So that drops immediately. But for to get to the pump,
- 12:23Speaker 1: the gas pumps where for the price coming, that's a
- 12:25Speaker 1: delay that lags by a couple of weeks. So pretty
- 12:29Speaker 1: and it might even happen next week. You may see
- 12:31Speaker 1: it down to three point fifty a gallon by next week.
- 12:34Speaker 1: But oil for the first time back in the sixties,
- 12:37Speaker 1: it's sixty nine dollars right now. Price of oil way down.
- 12:42Speaker 1: And if you're a Democrat, you can turn your radio
- 12:44Speaker 1: back on. We didn't want to upset you with that.
- 12:46Speaker 1: Sorry about that. Mets fired their manager, Okay, I mean
- 12:52Speaker 1: somebody's got to take the blame. It's a bad season.
- 12:55Speaker 1: The problem is you get these guys like Steve Cohen
- 12:59Speaker 1: who make billions, billions, so many billions in a hedge fund.
- 13:04Speaker 1: What are you doing a hedge fund? You got to
- 13:06Speaker 1: know what stocks to buy and trade, commodities stocks, You
- 13:09Speaker 1: got to know all kinds of financial stuff. So guys
- 13:13Speaker 1: like this think, well, if I did that, I know
- 13:14Speaker 1: how to run anything. But just because you know how
- 13:16Speaker 1: to trade stock doesn't mean you know anything about how
- 13:19Speaker 1: to run a baseball team. And that's the problem. So
- 13:21Speaker 1: it's not just Tim. You get a lot of owners
- 13:23Speaker 1: like this. He's not the worst, you know, Woody Johnson
- 13:26Speaker 1: has set the all time record worst owner in the
- 13:28Speaker 1: history of sports. Totally destroyed the New York Jets, absolutely
- 13:34Speaker 1: destroyed it. And it's fascinating to watch these guys because normally,
- 13:40Speaker 1: if you started doing something and you were really bad
- 13:44Speaker 1: at it and you kept losing and it was awful,
- 13:47Speaker 1: you might after a while, after a couple of years,
- 13:49Speaker 1: if you're Woody Johnson, say, you know, I don't know
- 13:52Speaker 1: what the hell I'm doing. I better get out of
- 13:53Speaker 1: this or hand this over to somebody who does. But
- 13:57Speaker 1: if you're a multi billionaire just over confident, you think
- 14:01Speaker 1: I'll figure it out. So now you gotta remember one
- 14:05Speaker 1: thing about George Steinbrenner, and everybody forgets about this little
- 14:09Speaker 1: piece of the puzzle. He was very successful at this,
- 14:12Speaker 1: but the reason is he didn't do anything else for
- 14:16Speaker 1: a living. You know, all these guys do something else
- 14:18Speaker 1: for a living. They run massive businesses, empires all day long.
- 14:23Speaker 1: Every owner of every baseball team does something else for
- 14:26Speaker 1: a living. All day long, they work on it, and
- 14:28Speaker 1: then about four o'clock in the afternoon, for the last
- 14:31Speaker 1: hour of the day, then the baseball people come in
- 14:33Speaker 1: and they go over the baseball stuff for an hour
- 14:36Speaker 1: a day. Steinbrenner was in the shipping business when he
- 14:39Speaker 1: bought the Yankees, but a couple of years into the Yankees,
- 14:42Speaker 1: he sold off the business, sold the shipping business off,
- 14:45Speaker 1: he had other businesses, turned him over to his sons.
- 14:48Speaker 1: So then for the rest of all those decades he
- 14:51Speaker 1: did nothing else except nine ten hours a day worked
- 14:55Speaker 1: on baseball nothing else, just that. So that's the problem.
- 14:59Speaker 1: If you're Steve Cohne or somebody else, you're going to
- 15:01Speaker 1: have to give up everything else, immerse yourself into baseball,
- 15:05Speaker 1: do nothing but meet with baseball experts all day and
- 15:08Speaker 1: night and get yourself a little more educated. Hey, we'll
- 15:11Speaker 1: take some calls next. Eight hundred three two one zero
- 15:15Speaker 1: seven ten is the number. Eight hundred three two one
- 15:19Speaker 1: zero seven ten. Now back to the Mark Simone show
- 15:22Speaker 1: on woo Hey, let's take some calls. Eight hundred three
- 15:29Speaker 1: to two one zero seven ten is the number. Let's
- 15:31Speaker 1: go to Mike in Brooklyn. Mike, how you doing.
- 15:35Speaker 4: Hey, good morning, Mark, Mark. I'm just calling. I know
- 15:37Speaker 4: on Tuesday truck President Trump spoke in Pennsylvania about working
- 15:41Speaker 4: on Nashville concil carry reciprocity. Do you think we'll finally
- 15:44Speaker 4: get some traction with it? Because I know he's.
- 15:46Speaker 1: Been What did you say I spoke about, Oh.
- 15:50Speaker 5: The National conceal Carry reciprocity.
- 15:52Speaker 1: The National concealed Carry reciprocity. You gotta be careful. People
- 15:58Speaker 1: are listening while they're driving in the car. We don't
- 16:00Speaker 1: want them to doze off if we if we say
- 16:03Speaker 1: we're going to be talking about the National carry conceal reciprocity,
- 16:08Speaker 1: people just go, uh, do you have another subject.
- 16:13Speaker 5: Well, he's been mentioning it since his first term, and
- 16:15Speaker 5: you know.
- 16:16Speaker 1: I've been careful not to pay attention to the I'm
- 16:18Speaker 1: going to do that to some people do that all
- 16:21Speaker 1: day today. It's anybody, what do you think about the
- 16:23Speaker 1: National carry conceal reciprocity? Does that have to do with guns?
- 16:29Speaker 5: Yeah, it's a big issue.
- 16:31Speaker 1: Now translated into English for us, what does it mean?
- 16:36Speaker 1: It means a right to carry a.
- 16:38Speaker 5: Gun corrects different state lines. If you okay, you state
- 16:43Speaker 5: that you're allowed to go to different.
- 16:44Speaker 1: Yeah, people might not realize you get a gun permit.
- 16:46Speaker 1: It's not easy to do. But let's say somehow you
- 16:48Speaker 1: got a gun permit for New York. You can't go
- 16:50Speaker 1: into Connecticut with it. It's it's only valid in New York.
- 16:54Speaker 1: So it's a big problem for private eyes. You know
- 16:57Speaker 1: that they're chasing somebody or fall their tail. Somebody, a
- 17:00Speaker 1: private eye got his New York gun permit and he's
- 17:03Speaker 1: tailing somebody and they going to Greenwich, Connecticut, which is
- 17:06Speaker 1: right over the state line. They have to stop. They
- 17:08Speaker 1: can't take their gun into Connecticut. It's a crime. There
- 17:12Speaker 1: is such a thing as a national permit, very hard
- 17:14Speaker 1: to get. So what's the President trying to do? Create
- 17:16Speaker 1: it so your permit will work in any state?
- 17:19Speaker 5: Yeah, he's trying to pass the bilt.
- 17:20Speaker 4: So let's say that your licensed in New York, you're
- 17:22Speaker 4: able to carry across New Jersey Connecticut. As long as
- 17:25Speaker 4: your license in one state, you're able to go to ANODA.
- 17:27Speaker 1: And do you carry a gun? Yes, yeah, I could
- 17:31Speaker 1: see why you needed. And so what do you do
- 17:34Speaker 1: with your gun if you have to go to Connecticut?
- 17:37Speaker 4: Well, I am licensed over there, but you know, not
- 17:40Speaker 4: is licensed in multiple seats.
- 17:42Speaker 1: Yeah, I know it's not easy. All right, Well, thanks
- 17:44Speaker 1: for clearing it up for us. Take care. Let's go
- 17:46Speaker 1: to Mike and Florida. Mike, how you doing, Good morning, Mark, Yes, Mike.
- 17:52Speaker 6: Two quick things. One I read that online that excuse me,
- 17:56Speaker 6: the estate of Leonard Cohen is objecting to them using
- 18:01Speaker 6: the song Hallelujah for these two hundred and fiftieth celebration.
- 18:06Speaker 1: Where are we getting where are we getting these subjects
- 18:09Speaker 1: in national carry concealed reciprocity and the Estate of.
- 18:12Speaker 6: Leonard for those Well, yeah, there's there's another one.
- 18:17Speaker 1: For normal people. Leonard Cohen. He was some kind of
- 18:20Speaker 1: folks sing or something in the sixties. Fifties.
- 18:23Speaker 6: Yeah, fifty years ago, and they're worried about two hundred
- 18:26Speaker 6: and fifty million people hearing a song they haven't heard, Okay.
- 18:29Speaker 1: But Leonard Cohen was like a very obscure musical figure.
- 18:32Speaker 1: He was like a very fifteenth string Bob Dylan kind
- 18:35Speaker 1: of a guy. Right, yes, So what.
- 18:38Speaker 6: Have another question?
- 18:39Speaker 1: What kind of a state could this guy have had
- 18:41Speaker 1: a dollar fifties?
- 18:42Speaker 6: I can't imagine exactly. I can't imagine, although that song
- 18:46Speaker 6: Hallelujah is fairly you know, fairly popular in quotes, But yeah,
- 18:53Speaker 6: I knew that. I know that Sinatra like was pretty
- 18:57Speaker 6: fond of Dinah Shore. Did you know Dinah? And what
- 19:00Speaker 6: was she like? Was she is cute and cuddly and
- 19:03Speaker 6: person that she seemed to be on the air.
- 19:05Speaker 1: Well, you got a thing for Diana Shore, isn't it.
- 19:08Speaker 6: I just well, you know, it's funny because when she
- 19:10Speaker 6: was younger, she wasn't quite as appealing as when she
- 19:13Speaker 6: sort of got a little bit older.
- 19:14Speaker 1: Oh yeah, she was. I didn't know her that well,
- 19:16Speaker 1: but she used to come on my show all the
- 19:18Speaker 1: time she was a big band singer, and then she
- 19:20Speaker 1: became she was a really fine singer. You go back
- 19:23Speaker 1: to the fifties, she made some phenomenal albums and she
- 19:26Speaker 1: was a really good singer. And then in the sixties
- 19:28Speaker 1: popular actually late fifties into the sixties, she did like
- 19:32Speaker 1: the number one variety show in television. She was a
- 19:34Speaker 1: huge star there. And then seventies and eighties she did
- 19:38Speaker 1: that daytime show with a lot of cooking and stuff.
- 19:41Speaker 1: And then she started dating Bert Reynolds, who was like
- 19:44Speaker 1: the hottest sex symbol in America, and here was this
- 19:47Speaker 1: older woman. It was a pretty good fibal yeah for
- 19:51Speaker 1: Burt Reynolds, and now everybody liked her. I never heard
- 19:53Speaker 1: a bad word about her.
- 19:54Speaker 6: Very nice just seeing her as a singing partner.
- 19:57Speaker 1: I mean, I know she was a he was a
- 20:00Speaker 1: very very very fine singer. Go back and listen to
- 20:03Speaker 1: go back and listen to her albums. There's one with
- 20:06Speaker 1: Nelson Riddle that's phenomenal. There's one with just a piano
- 20:10Speaker 1: I think it was Andre Previn, which is pretty amazing stuff.
- 20:13Speaker 1: She did some serious musical work. So and remember in
- 20:16Speaker 1: the fifties she was one of the two or three
- 20:19Speaker 1: biggest stars in television had a number one variety show.
- 20:22Speaker 1: Sinatra was a guest on it. She was on Sinatra's specials. Yeah,
- 20:26Speaker 1: they were very good friends.
- 20:28Speaker 6: What other female singers did Sinatra enjoy singing?
- 20:31Speaker 1: Was number one? Would have Number one was Ella Fitzgerald.
- 20:35Speaker 1: His idol was Billy Holiday, but she was kind of,
- 20:39Speaker 1: you know, out of the business, out of the game
- 20:41Speaker 1: by the time he came along, and Ella Fitzgerald would
- 20:45Speaker 1: have been number one. They always wanted to make an
- 20:47Speaker 1: album together, but the two record companies couldn't agree on everything.
- 20:50Speaker 1: But yeah, go on YouTube and watch the TV specials
- 20:53Speaker 1: with Ella and Frank Sinatra. Amazing stuff to check it out.
- 20:57Speaker 1: All right, thanks for calling. Let's go to Vincent and
- 21:00Speaker 1: up Vincent. What's going on? Good morning, Marca, Morning Marra. Yeah,
- 21:03Speaker 1: Billy Holliday had that sound. She had the heroin junkie sound.
- 21:09Speaker 1: Mark I Dick.
- 21:12Speaker 7: Donald Trump was right for getting the big three oil
- 21:15Speaker 7: companies the executives at the White House and reading them
- 21:18Speaker 7: the Riot Act because me personally, I do think the
- 21:22Speaker 7: gas companies are now price grouch. Again. I say this
- 21:26Speaker 7: because yesterday I was at my car dealership to pick
- 21:30Speaker 7: up my car and there's a gas station on the corner.
- 21:33Speaker 7: Regular is as what you said, Regular was three dollars
- 21:37Speaker 7: and eighty cents a gallon and high test was four
- 21:42Speaker 7: dollars and sixty cents. The gas we're using now was
- 21:46Speaker 7: produced long before the war, and a rack this gas
- 21:51Speaker 7: prices should be coming down, definitely.
- 21:54Speaker 1: I remember a lot of that's not the oil coming
- 21:56Speaker 1: a lot of that's the state the city.
- 21:58Speaker 7: Okay, well checked done that. And actually the State of
- 22:02Speaker 7: New York has not raised the gas tax. It's still
- 22:07Speaker 7: the same as it was during the first truck administration.
- 22:13Speaker 7: Mark Mandami, I hoped Rent Guideline Board gets sued because
- 22:19Speaker 7: this is gonna do this verdict of Devia not given
- 22:23Speaker 7: even the two year leases a rent increase that's going
- 22:27Speaker 7: to cause a lot of landlords to abandon their properties
- 22:31Speaker 7: and to not make the necessary repairs. Mark, I get
- 22:34Speaker 7: offers for these large rents stabilized buildings every day, and
- 22:39Speaker 7: you know what I tell the broke is, why would
- 22:42Speaker 7: I want to be partners with the City of New
- 22:44Speaker 7: York on my business?
- 22:46Speaker 1: I understand it's a disaster.
- 22:48Speaker 7: It's a disaster.
- 22:50Speaker 1: Ben Vincent, great call, Thanks for calling the Rent Board
- 22:54Speaker 1: was Mamdani stacked it with all his cronies that passed
- 22:57Speaker 1: this ridiculous rent freeze. And whenever these left wingers do
- 23:01Speaker 1: this stuff, it always ends up creating less housing. Hey,
- 23:04Speaker 1: we'll talk about that in the second and a whole
- 23:06Speaker 1: lot more with the Great Steve Forbes. We'll talk to
- 23:09Speaker 1: him next on seven to ten wo Mark Simone Show. Well,
- 23:16Speaker 1: let's talk to the great Steve Forbes, chairman of Forbes Media,
- 23:21Speaker 1: author of some great books. You should get his latest book, Inflation.
- 23:25Speaker 1: He'll explain it a lot of stuff to but of
- 23:28Speaker 1: course you should be reading Forbes every day. Steve Forbes,
- 23:31Speaker 1: how you doing.
- 23:33Speaker 5: Well?
- 23:34Speaker 3: I'm personally doing fine. I stayed up to watch a
- 23:38Speaker 3: certain soccer game last night. I'll just leave it at that,
- 23:41Speaker 3: and watched before that the Yankees lose to Boston. So
- 23:47Speaker 3: not a good way to begin Friday. But hopefully things
- 23:51Speaker 3: will get better. The Mets now are getting a new
- 23:53Speaker 3: manager after a miserable season, so things are astirring.
- 23:58Speaker 1: I know, but you had the Nicks. That's enough for
- 24:01Speaker 1: one year. What more could you ask for?
- 24:04Speaker 3: Well, the Knicks just your what your appetite? They performed
- 24:07Speaker 3: the miracle of one of the great miracles in the
- 24:09Speaker 3: whole history of sports, and you figure, well, let's have
- 24:12Speaker 3: some more.
- 24:13Speaker 1: Wow, that's the problem. We get greedy, that's the problem.
- 24:18Speaker 3: Hay No, no, no, we get excited. If the Knicks
- 24:22Speaker 3: can do it, even the Mets might do it someday.
- 24:25Speaker 1: Well that's a good point. If the Knicks can do it,
- 24:27Speaker 1: anybody can do it. Hey, I'm looking at the price
- 24:29Speaker 1: of oil right now, sixty nine dollars a barrel. That's
- 24:31Speaker 1: pretty amazing, isn't it. That's that's almost back to pre war.
- 24:37Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 24:37Speaker 3: I think the when the war began in February, you
- 24:41Speaker 3: obviously had the huge spike, but what was interesting was
- 24:45Speaker 3: the futures markets going months out, six months, twelve months out.
- 24:50Speaker 3: He had oil back in the seventies. So I think
- 24:52Speaker 3: most people figured one way or the other. However, this
- 24:56Speaker 3: thing is resolved when the markets reached some semblance of normalcy.
- 25:01Speaker 3: Prices were going to come down, and the US is
- 25:04Speaker 3: still doing all it can to ramp up production. And
- 25:08Speaker 3: I think what's happening in the Strait of Hormuz. You're
- 25:11Speaker 3: going to see in the next few years. It's happening already,
- 25:14Speaker 3: the building of pipelines. So the dependence of those countries
- 25:19Speaker 3: on the Straight of Hermos is going to decline dramatically,
- 25:23Speaker 3: so the markets look to the future, and so we're
- 25:26Speaker 3: going to be able to worry about other things than
- 25:28Speaker 3: the price of gasoline.
- 25:30Speaker 1: Yeah, you're not a big fan of the you know,
- 25:33Speaker 1: going after Iran, but nobody's a big plan.
- 25:36Speaker 3: I thought, if you're going to go after it, you
- 25:38Speaker 3: do it and not pause and cease fire and negotiating
- 25:41Speaker 3: all that kind of stuff. They're stringing us along. And
- 25:44Speaker 3: I've seen this movie before and we know what they've
- 25:48Speaker 3: been for forty seven years. So you either do it
- 25:51Speaker 3: or you don't. Yeah, I understand, of course you're right.
- 25:54Speaker 3: But if you could stay in this holding pattern through
- 25:56Speaker 3: the next few months, why not gives us a chance
- 25:59Speaker 3: to restock arm and pick more targets. It's not a
- 26:03Speaker 3: bad thing to get through the summer with this, is it. Well,
- 26:07Speaker 3: he'll find a way to get through it, the president.
- 26:10Speaker 3: But Iran now feels incredibly the world they live in
- 26:15Speaker 3: that they've won this war. Yeah, they took a huge
- 26:17Speaker 3: beating militarily. Our military performed superbly, as did the Israeli military,
- 26:23Speaker 3: but they're still standing that regime and they figure that
- 26:26Speaker 3: they've won strategically, that they've established deep facto control over
- 26:31Speaker 3: the Strait and so we're gonna have trouble with them
- 26:34Speaker 3: down the road, and it's going to be an irritant
- 26:38Speaker 3: out there, a big bad one. And by the way,
- 26:41Speaker 3: to show the world that we're not taking a powder
- 26:44Speaker 3: on the world, I wish President Trump would it's on
- 26:47Speaker 3: his desk, would approve the fourteen billion dollar arm sales
- 26:51Speaker 3: to Taiwan, which Congress approved last January, just to show
- 26:56Speaker 3: the world where where we're a player and we're not
- 26:58Speaker 3: gonna let the bad guys run around.
- 27:00Speaker 1: Yeah, that's a very good point. Hey, Mamdani, and all
- 27:04Speaker 1: these are crazy young socialists, you know. Oh well, he
- 27:07Speaker 1: just stacked the rent board and now they passed this
- 27:09Speaker 1: rent freeze. And why don't they ever realize that, you know,
- 27:13Speaker 1: the smart educated young politicians, why don't they realize all
- 27:17Speaker 1: this stuff they're doing, they've been tried a billion times,
- 27:19Speaker 1: always fails. All this stuff they're doing for housing will
- 27:21Speaker 1: create less housing. Why don't they ever see that?
- 27:28Speaker 3: Well, part part of it is one they're dissatisfied and
- 27:33Speaker 3: so they look for saviors of the wrong kind. But
- 27:38Speaker 3: also there's not been effective opposition. And I think the
- 27:43Speaker 3: people with resources in the city are realizing it's not
- 27:46Speaker 3: just enough to say, oh, well, back another candidate. You've
- 27:49Speaker 3: got to have people out there making the case, doing
- 27:52Speaker 3: what the left is done, organizing, go door to door.
- 27:55Speaker 3: I mean, you know, New York City, it's amazing Mondani
- 27:59Speaker 3: wants to a few private landlords left New York as
- 28:03Speaker 3: you known, You've made the point is the biggest slum
- 28:05Speaker 3: lord around. You don't want to be in a city
- 28:08Speaker 3: owned apartment. Try getting you know, with the rats and
- 28:11Speaker 3: everything else running around, not talking about the politician, trying
- 28:15Speaker 3: about the real rodents in those buildings, the lack of maintenance,
- 28:19Speaker 3: and so the socialism is not working even now, and
- 28:24Speaker 3: we've got to highlight that and and this anti semitism
- 28:28Speaker 3: that goes unanswered. I mean that coffee shop, that guy
- 28:32Speaker 3: should be prosecuted. You know, if you're open, if you
- 28:36Speaker 3: have a facility for the public, you're supposed to serve
- 28:39Speaker 3: the public.
- 28:40Speaker 1: Period.
- 28:41Speaker 3: You don't want to serve the public shut down. But
- 28:44Speaker 3: he should be prosecuted for not serving. That congressman who
- 28:48Speaker 3: knows going to be looking for work sadly, and I
- 28:51Speaker 3: didn't like his politics, but he didn't like the reason
- 28:54Speaker 3: he lost.
- 28:56Speaker 1: Hey, you bring up a good point. Democrats and these
- 29:00Speaker 1: that won in the primaries incredible ground game. They had
- 29:03Speaker 1: amazing talent on the ground, knocking on doors, getting voters
- 29:07Speaker 1: to the pulse. The problem the Republican Party in euro
- 29:09Speaker 1: is not big enough. They don't have those kind of resources.
- 29:12Speaker 1: And why is that? Is it because the National RNC
- 29:15Speaker 1: just doesn't do anything. They're not paying attention to it.
- 29:17Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, part of it is it's sort of a
- 29:19Speaker 3: self defeating circle. You feel you've got other more promising
- 29:23Speaker 3: races around the country, so why poor resources in here?
- 29:28Speaker 3: But the Democrats too, there are still some sensible ones left.
- 29:32Speaker 3: Have got to get organized. You know, I'll be blunt
- 29:34Speaker 3: about it. What you see organized here with these socialists.
- 29:38Speaker 3: We haven't seen on the far left since the communist
- 29:42Speaker 3: days of the forties, early fifties, late thirties, where they
- 29:45Speaker 3: were extremely well organized. You know, Ronald Reagan headed the
- 29:48Speaker 3: Actors Guild in Hollywood, and one of his big task
- 29:52Speaker 3: was fighting the attempt to take over by the communists.
- 29:55Speaker 3: They're taking over in those days, the unions and other institutions.
- 29:59Speaker 3: We beat them back. We're going to have to do
- 30:01Speaker 3: the same thing with this version today.
- 30:04Speaker 1: Wow. So the fact that they were so successful and
- 30:07Speaker 1: they got all these left wing socialist kooks in there
- 30:11Speaker 1: in short term game, But in the long term, isn't
- 30:14Speaker 1: that going to bring down the Democrats?
- 30:17Speaker 3: Yes, because the Democrats are going to be in a
- 30:20Speaker 3: tough position because even though most Democrats don't buy into
- 30:24Speaker 3: this lunacy we saw in the primary here in New York,
- 30:28Speaker 3: but the activists control the party. And so if you're
- 30:34Speaker 3: going to run in twenty twenty eight, are you going
- 30:36Speaker 3: to come out in favor of Israel other than a mumble,
- 30:41Speaker 3: maybe not even a mumble. Are you going to come
- 30:43Speaker 3: out against a national version of a national wealth tax?
- 30:47Speaker 3: You know, these extremists being well organized, knowing that they
- 30:52Speaker 3: can take a primary where no one votes, but the
- 30:54Speaker 3: activists they can take you down. So they're going to
- 30:57Speaker 3: be setting the tone of the party and that's not
- 30:59Speaker 3: going to to be a winning issue for Republicans. Get
- 31:03Speaker 3: their act together, we should win in twenty twenty eight.
- 31:07Speaker 3: And you know, you see Newsom now squirming out in
- 31:10Speaker 3: California with this wealth tax on the ballot, which looks
- 31:14Speaker 3: like it might pass. He tried to find ways to
- 31:17Speaker 3: try to get it off the ballot by bribing the
- 31:19Speaker 3: unions thing, I'll give you money if you take it off.
- 31:23Speaker 3: So this stuff doesn't This stuff is not going to
- 31:26Speaker 3: go well nationally, and the Republicans have to come up
- 31:29Speaker 3: with their own positive agenda, including health care, and we
- 31:34Speaker 3: can beat these guys in twenty twenty eight resoundingly.
- 31:38Speaker 1: Hey, Steve Forbes, we only go about thirty seconds left.
- 31:40Speaker 1: Kevin Walsh off to a good start at the FED.
- 31:42Speaker 3: The answer. The answer is yes, he's attacking this crazy
- 31:46Speaker 3: idea that prosperity caused inflation. I think he's next going
- 31:50Speaker 3: after him by bringing an outside task forces, which is
- 31:54Speaker 3: usually a political punt. In this case, he's using outside people,
- 31:58Speaker 3: recognized experts. It's to bring about changes and attack the institution.
- 32:03Speaker 3: The institution, you can't do it from within, but when
- 32:06Speaker 3: you have these outside task forces, they can't attack their credibility.
- 32:10Speaker 3: And so he's going to bring about positive changes. Finally
- 32:13Speaker 3: he knows how to do it, which is good we
- 32:16Speaker 3: seek for us and for the world.
- 32:18Speaker 1: Steve Forbes brilliant as always. Everybody should be reading the Forbes.
- 32:21Speaker 1: Steve is the chairman of Forbes Media. Forbes of course
- 32:24Speaker 1: online you can read it every day and get his
- 32:26Speaker 1: book Inflation. You learn a lot from that book. It's
- 32:29Speaker 1: a great book. And Steve Forbes, thanks for being with us.
- 32:33Speaker 3: Thank you, pleasure and go Yankees, go US soccer.
- 32:40Speaker 1: Thanks for being with us.
- 32:41Speaker 3: Take care and maybe even go Mets. It's a weekend coming,
- 32:44Speaker 3: let's be nice.
- 32:45Speaker 1: Yeah, all right, very good. Thanks for being with us.
- 32:48Speaker 1: Take care. Hey, coming up, Buck and Clay Noon Today,
