Transcript
- 0:00Welcome to World View Matters, discussing controversial issues, discerning current events,
- 0:10defending biblical Christianity, no topic, off limits.
- 0:16And now, here's your host, David Firazzo.
- 0:19Hey brothers and sisters, thank you so much for tuning in and we've got another exciting
- 0:25guest.
- 0:26I mean it's hard to believe we haven't talked to this young man.
- 0:29I'm older so I can say that for for so long, but it's great to have Chris Katalka back
- 0:35with us.
- 0:36He's with friends of Israel, gospel ministry.
- 0:38It is F-O-I dot or G that's F-O-I dot or G and also you can check out his podcast at the
- 0:47Jew actually Jew and Gentile podcast or it's yes, J E W and J G E N T I L E. I almost
- 0:55put that up Jew and Gentile podcast.
- 0:59There it is, it's dot org and friends of Israel, brother, thank you so much for your time
- 1:02today.
- 1:03Good to see you again.
- 1:04David, great to be back.
- 1:05Thank you so much.
- 1:06You're welcome.
- 1:07So a lot to talk about including this edition of Israel, my glory.
- 1:13This is two years ago, this month I came across this and I found the articles that you wrote
- 1:18and we're going to I'm going to ask you a little bit about that, but first we've got
- 1:21a little serious.
- 1:22We haven't seen you in a while.
- 1:23We haven't caught up and you have had some health battles and overcoming cancer.
- 1:29You're going through treatments right now.
- 1:32I would love our viewers and listeners to pray for you, brother.
- 1:35So please share a little bit about what's been happening, what you're going through, please.
- 1:40Yeah, just a couple of months ago, I found out that I have a colorectal cancer and so
- 1:45we caught it very early though when we were praising the Lord for that.
- 1:49So the treatments that I'm under, all the doctors are very optimistic about the outcomes
- 1:55and tell me I still have a good 40 years in me to go.
- 1:59So we're praising the Lord for that, but it did come as a surprise.
- 2:04But we're thankful that we caught it early and that and in all of it, we've been just
- 2:09using this as an opportunity to just not only for prayer, but really as a testimony to
- 2:15the Lord's kindness and faithfulness.
- 2:17So everywhere we go, we always share with our doctors and our nurses and the staff.
- 2:22That's just been amazing to us here in New Jersey about the goodness of our God and our
- 2:26Savior Jesus.
- 2:27So that's, that's, you know, God's got a plan for it.
- 2:29I don't know what it is, but I'm counting on all good things to work to His glory.
- 2:34So.
- 2:35Amen, brother.
- 2:36Thank you.
- 2:37And so friends, please continue to pray for Chris or start if you haven't been.
- 2:41It's good to use those situations even when, you know, we, it's a, it's a, it's a shift
- 2:47in our thinking when we go to the doctor for something we are struggling or suffering
- 2:51with to get out of ourselves and look at the other human being that may not be saved
- 2:55and may have an eternal destination if hell in hell if they don't hear the good news
- 3:00of Jesus Christ who can save them and use those opportunities.
- 3:05I'm trying to be more aware and intentional about those.
- 3:08And I think we could all be better at that and pray for God to give us those divine appointments.
- 3:13And then the obedience to speak lovingly and truly when we're in those situations.
- 3:22So I want to mention real quick at the, at the World View Matters conference we just wrapped
- 3:26up a few weeks ago, I met, man, a fiery young woman named, I think is Tiana Lodwick.
- 3:33Is that right?
- 3:34Tiana, amazing young woman, amazing Adavanterio.
- 3:39Yeah, she had a table for Friends of Israel Gospel Ministry at the World View Matters conference
- 3:47and she must be in her mid 20s, I'm guessing, but I mean, just the young people that were there,
- 3:53there weren't a lot, but the ones that I met her and others just give me such encouragement
- 3:59that there are people reaching the younger generation, especially for good causes.
- 4:05So I wanted to also mention Israel, my glory and Chris, can people get this
- 4:12on the Friends of Israel website?
- 4:15Can they sign up for that?
- 4:16Yep, they can.
- 4:17In fact, they can even just type in IsraelMyGlory.org and they will take you right to a subscribe site.
- 4:22If you've never subscribed to our magazine, Israel, my glory, we want to give you a one-year-free
- 4:26subscription.
- 4:28And so when you subscribe, if you've never done that before, IsraelMyGlory.org, and then
- 4:33you'll hit the subscribe button, you can either get a print edition, which is what David's holding
- 4:36there, or you can get our digital edition that has more than 50 years of Friends of Israel,
- 4:42Israel, my glory content on the website for you to access at your fingertips.
- 4:46So again, it's IsraelMyGlory.org.
- 4:50Free is good.
- 4:51Yeah, friends, check that out.
- 4:53So I want to just ask you about two articles that you wrote in here that we were talking
- 4:58before we got on the podcast.
- 5:00You could have written them a couple of months ago or now, because one of them is called
- 5:04cease the ceasefire talks, cease the ceasefire talks, and the other one is Israel's never-ending
- 5:12struggle.
- 5:14And this was two years ago this month.
- 5:16So Chris, I mean, I don't want to be redundant, but you could probably re-release those
- 5:21articles.
- 5:22I know.
- 5:23You know, maybe update a few things, tell us about the both this topic, the never-ending
- 5:29struggle.
- 5:30And again, we're talking about ceasefires and no ceasefires and go ahead.
- 5:36You know, you could almost think of it like this, that article, those articles were written
- 5:38two years ago, dealing with the issue of Hamas and Gaza and Hezbollah up in the North.
- 5:45And that was a very localized conflict that Israel was dealing with post-October 7th.
- 5:51And it's something that's still going on today.
- 5:53And ceasefires were the conversations that were being had all the time.
- 5:56Israel should enter into a ceasefire, should enter into a ceasefire with Hamas and Hezbollah.
- 6:01That's what the Western nations were pushing at that time.
- 6:04But see now the conversation is switched away from Hamas and Hezbollah and now it's moved
- 6:09up to Iran.
- 6:11And we have a very unique situation right now where Israel and America are fighting together.
- 6:16It's the first time in Israel's history that Israel and America are fighting side-by-side
- 6:22against a common enemy of not only just Israel and America, but I would say a common enemy
- 6:27of the world.
- 6:28They've been the leading state sponsor of terrorism globally for 47 years.
- 6:33And so, you know, now the ceasefire is still a conversation to be had.
- 6:38And you know, quite honestly, the question is whether or not the ceasefire is a good
- 6:40thing or a bad thing.
- 6:41I think Trump is playing the cards right on it.
- 6:44But, you know, we're sitting at a point right now where we're having this conversation,
- 6:47Trump's in Beijing.
- 6:48He's going to be coming home soon.
- 6:50And I personally, you know, don't, this isn't anything, any like special revelation
- 6:54or anything, but I personally think that they will be going back to war.
- 6:58I think this ceasefire will end.
- 7:00And I think it's going to, I think the Trump administration and the Israelis want to see
- 7:06not just, you know, to make sure that there's no nuclear ambition that's left amongst
- 7:11the Iranian leadership, the Islamic regime, but also hopefully hoping that there's an
- 7:17actual regime change, which is what the Israelis will hope for.
- 7:21So really, this is the big issue with it when it comes to the ceasefire.
- 7:24Yeah.
- 7:25And I mean, can you, can you trust anything that the leaders in Iran say, can you, yeah,
- 7:33ceasefires are not going to last because they have a worldview problem that they want
- 7:38to wipe Israel out.
- 7:40And it goes back to the land, doesn't it, Chris?
- 7:43100 percent.
- 7:44Well, it, it goes back to the land, but it also goes back to the Jew and, and even the Christian,
- 7:49this is really important.
- 7:50Yes.
- 7:51Yes.
- 7:52And, and for the Shia extremists that come out of the Islamic Republic, they have a prophetic
- 8:00understanding of what the Quran teaches and the Hadith teaches that, that, that there
- 8:06has to be turmoil before the Messiah, their Messiah comes.
- 8:11And so when, when, when they create a turmoil, we might look at it and say, well, I hope
- 8:16these people ensuing, don't they see what they're doing?
- 8:18But for them, they're fulfilling what they believe as God's will.
- 8:22And they're willing to endure that themselves, even though 90 percent of their people, this
- 8:26is so important for your listeners to know, David, is that 90 percent of Iranians disagree
- 8:31with the Islamic regime that rules them.
- 8:34So that's, you got two people here.
- 8:35You got 10 percent that say yes and 90 percent that say no, but that 10 percent is the one
- 8:40with all the weapons and that that 10 percent is the one that runs the government and the,
- 8:44and the, and the, and the country right now.
- 8:47And so ultimately, that's going to be a big, a big issue because they are the ones who
- 8:51want to create this kind of turmoil because that is what they believe as God's will to
- 8:57do where the other 90 percent really probably just want peace and many of them love Israel.
- 9:03That's the other side, that's such the opposite side of the coin is that they actually have
- 9:08a deep devotion to Israel, many of the Iranians love Israel.
- 9:12In fact, there's a Benjamin Netanyahu street, that's what Netanyahu said recently in Iran
- 9:17because the Iranian people love Benjamin Netanyahu because of what he stands for.
- 9:22So anyway, that's the interesting side, two sides of the coin there.
- 9:25You've got the leadership that's 10 percent of the country and the 90 percent say we want
- 9:28nothing to do with that.
- 9:30Wow.
- 9:31Wow.
- 9:32What a mess.
- 9:33It's prophetic, but we'll see how this plays out.
- 9:37So over on the Friends of Israel Gospel Ministry Facebook page on May 12th, there's this
- 9:44post, there's a meme of showing the land in Israel and it says this, Genesis 13, 15,
- 9:50for all the land which you see, I give to you and your descendants forever.
- 9:59So Chris Kotalka, did God really mean all the land and did he really mean forever?
- 10:04Yeah.
- 10:05This is a great question because if you go to one church, you'll say no, that was done
- 10:09away with, it was fulfilled in the Old Testament and we're moving on.
- 10:14Jesus moves us away.
- 10:15I've had Christians, David say to me, after I get done speaking at a church, is God
- 10:20really in the real estate business?
- 10:22Why do you care about this land so much?
- 10:24And I go, actually, he is in the real estate business.
- 10:27You know why?
- 10:28Because his name, his holy reputation is tied to this land.
- 10:33That's why if your listeners are listening, go to Ezekiel, chapter 36 and read it tonight.
- 10:38It'll only take a few minutes of your time.
- 10:41But what you're going to see is that God's desire was to return his people to his
- 10:44the land.
- 10:45He says that very boldly, not because Israel deserves it, David.
- 10:49That's what he says.
- 10:50It's not, I'm not acting because you deserve this.
- 10:53It's purely for two reasons.
- 10:56One, God's grace and number two, the most important of them all is to uphold his holy
- 11:02reputation.
- 11:03And some scripture, some translations will say his holy name.
- 11:08That's what it actually says there, but by upholding his holy name, a name is a reputation
- 11:11as well.
- 11:12It's upholding his holy reputation, be the faithful promise keeping God.
- 11:16So if God made a promise, his holy name is on the, on the deed of that land.
- 11:21He has to fulfill it.
- 11:23So this is the reason why this land still matters and this is the reason why these people
- 11:28still matter.
- 11:29And not only is he promised to return them, he promised to do something even greater
- 11:32for them, which is to pour his spirit into them in the future and to give them life.
- 11:38That's salvation.
- 11:39So again, whenever we talk about Israel, you have to understand something from a biblical
- 11:43perspective.
- 11:44It's not just the land.
- 11:46It's even deeper than that.
- 11:47The land is one component.
- 11:49The greater component that allows them to stay in the land is that one day they believe
- 11:54in the Lord Jesus and that one day his spirit will fill them and they will believe.
- 11:59That's the crux of everything.
- 12:00Amen, brother.
- 12:01So Chris, did your work, we ever worked cut out for us really were, it's an uphill
- 12:09battle now because of the propaganda and all the, the left and how they politicized and
- 12:14how they funded well-funded protests against Israel and pro-Hamas and using the word Palestine
- 12:20playing the victim and saying Israel is the aggressor and it goes on and on and on.
- 12:24But it starts at, first of all, it's demonic at its core, but we've seen what happens since
- 12:29October, you know, 7, 2023 at the college campus level and throughout our culture.
- 12:35But simple question, I think you sent this to me.
- 12:38It may have been one of the podcast topics that you talked about.
- 12:41And Israel lose the PR war as they continue to fight these battles because we're seeing
- 12:49the propaganda out there and people falling for it even in the church in America, which
- 12:53is very disappointing.
- 12:55Share your thoughts about that.
- 12:56Yeah.
- 12:57No matter what side Israel takes, they'll always lose the PR war, the public relations war.
- 13:04Because this is the way that the, the enemy that they deal with has restructured how they,
- 13:12how they understand war.
- 13:14You know, after 1967, which is the six day war when Israel really took out many of the
- 13:22enemies that were attacking them, surrounding them and wanted to push them into the sea.
- 13:26They actually ended up quadrupling the size of the land.
- 13:29They took the Sinai from Egypt, the West Bank from Jordan, the Golan Heights from Syria,
- 13:36and they ended up expanding their land.
- 13:38They didn't ask for this.
- 13:39They were attacked.
- 13:41And so what happened is the Palestinians and the Arab world got together and they, they
- 13:46met in cartoon and they came up with what, what are called the three nose and basically
- 13:51the three knows where we're not going to ever recognize Israel.
- 13:54We're never going to make peace with Israel.
- 13:56Just no, no, no.
- 13:57Nothing.
- 13:58There's nothing that's going to ever happen.
- 13:59But what they learned is they can't defeat Israel in the battlefield.
- 14:02They've, they've learned that less than the hard way.
- 14:04They learned it in 1948 and 49.
- 14:08They learned it in the 50s.
- 14:09They learned it in the six day war.
- 14:10They learned it once again in 1973 in the, in the Yom Kippur War.
- 14:14They just can't defeat them militarily.
- 14:17But what they can do is they can beat them on the PR front.
- 14:21They will always be in images and pictures.
- 14:24They will always be the, the David against the Goliath.
- 14:28And so, and Israel is the Goliath now and David are the Palestinians.
- 14:32And so no matter how you paint the picture, no matter what you do, the world, especially
- 14:37with the culture that we live in today and the technology that we have, all it takes
- 14:40is for a picture on your phone to come by, come by on TikTok or Instagram or whatever
- 14:46to sway a person's heart away from Israel and toward their enemies.
- 14:50And the problem is it's oftentimes those images are full of lies, whether misrepresented
- 14:56or they don't really know the heart of the Israeli people who are trying their best to
- 15:00protect the Palestinian people, but also even more importantly protect their own people
- 15:05that make up both Jews, Arabs, Christians, Muslims, you name it.
- 15:09So again, the PR war, it never feels like an opportunity that can be won because whether
- 15:15they speak too much about it, they lose or whether they don't say anything about it,
- 15:19they lose.
- 15:21They're being pushed back and since October 7th, especially since the Hamas war in Gaza,
- 15:27they have been losing the PR battle badly, but I don't think that's their intention to
- 15:32do that.
- 15:33I just think it's always the way the world has seen Israel.
- 15:36Agreed with you 100% brother.
- 15:38And in a minute, we're going to talk about, I want to ask you, is Israel in lockstep with
- 15:43all of Trump's decisions about how he's dealing with the Iran war?
- 15:47At first, I've got to mention Freedom Project Academy.
- 15:51They're enrolling students for the fall.
- 15:54For 16 years, FPA has delivered a fully accredited classical online education rooted firmly
- 16:01in Judeo-Christian values for kids in pre-kindergarten through high school.

- 16:20tuition, and on all courses, by the way, at Freedom Project Academy.
- 16:24So visit FreedomFORschool.com and get started.
- 16:28So Chris Katalka, our guest today, friends of Israel Gospel Ministry, F-O-I.org, and
- 16:35again, his podcast that covers a whole lot more than what we can get into here, juandjentile.org.
- 16:44So Chris, I'm sure Israel is maybe divided in some way or another on whether they support
- 16:52President Trump and the decisions he's been making.
- 16:54I know they're, we are allies, but you probably don't agree with 100% with everything.
- 17:00Yes, shares, your insights on this.
- 17:03But you'd be surprised, you know, there's a good saying that if you put two rabbis in
- 17:07a room, you'll leave with three different opinions, okay?
- 17:09That's a clad thing among the Jewish people and Israeli politics is no different.
- 17:16You know, there are more than a dozen political parties.
- 17:20You know, we in America have three and one of them is nothing, the independent party.
- 17:25You got Democrats, Republicans, and then the independent party.
- 17:28And occasionally you have others, but they don't stand a chance.
- 17:30It's usually a Democrat or a Republican.
- 17:32In Israel, there are dozens of parties that are vying for their spot in Israel's parliament,
- 17:38the Knesset.
- 17:40And so you can imagine if it's two rabbis, leave with three opinions, what about a dozen
- 17:44plus parties, okay?
- 17:46So this is a real, you know, the thing that actually binds Israelis together, you'd be
- 17:50so surprised by this is that they argue about everything, just like we do.
- 17:55But they, a lot of them, the vast majority of them support the Donald Trump, they do.
- 18:01They support his, his support for Israel and the Jewish people that they get behind the
- 18:07fact that they know if anybody knows that Iran is a threat, it's Israel because they
- 18:13look with it.
- 18:14They're in the neighborhood.
- 18:15So when a president doesn't just capitulate to making policy agreements and sending the
- 18:20money like like Barack Obama did, you know, but actually puts up real words that he gets
- 18:29behind and then attacks their nuclear facilities and says there will be no nuclear weapons.
- 18:34And then partners with Israel and this endeavor, you have to imagine for the Israeli people
- 18:38who all across the spectrum know that Iran is the problem that needs to be dealt with
- 18:42because they live with it daily.
- 18:44This is something that they get behind.
- 18:46So there's a great support for Israel, for Donald Trump and for America in Israel across
- 18:53the political spectrum.
- 18:55But I will say on the chopping block in Israel is not Donald Trump.
- 19:00It's actually Benjamin Netanyahu and elections elections are coming up in October for the
- 19:05Israeli people and parties are forming right now parties are beginning to collide with
- 19:12one another to build a coalition that's not necessarily about producing anything other
- 19:18than ousting Benjamin Netanyahu, which could very well be the case that you might see
- 19:22the longest serving Israeli Prime Minister lose his seat once again the same way he lost
- 19:27it last time.
- 19:28The only way to unseat Netanyahu in Israel is to form parties for parties to coalesce
- 19:35together and to combine in order to push him out.
- 19:38And that's what we're seeing right now with two major Israeli political leaders, Neftali
- 19:43Bennett and Ya'ir Lapid to opposing, it'd be like a Democrat and a Republican getting
- 19:48together to push out sitting president.
- 19:51That's what's going on right now.
- 19:52Yeah, the enemy of my enemy is my friend is that the saying, so Chris, I know you're
- 19:57not a prophet, but speculation, what do you sense may happen in October with Netanyahu?
- 20:06It's 50, 50 still because even with the combined party that they formed, it's called Bayakhad,
- 20:14which is together.
- 20:16So the Bayakhad party, which is this combination party of these two political leaders, even
- 20:22with them together, Netanyahu has lost some, some, some seats, but he still has a lot
- 20:29of power with his party, which is called the Lakoud party.
- 20:34And so he still is in the race.
- 20:36It's not as if, you know, there's still time as well before the election.
- 20:40So anything can happen, anything politically can happen, anything geopolitically could happen.
- 20:44And the Iran war, this is a big deal because if they unseat Netanyahu, Netanyahu was the
- 20:49prime minister during October 7th, Netanyahu was the one who was leading during the Hamas
- 20:54war, Netanyahu was the one with Hezbollah, the war against Hezbollah, and now the war against
- 20:58Iran in partnership with America.
- 21:00So if you unseat him, now you're moving into a completely different administration and
- 21:05how they'll handle these issues.
- 21:06I don't know what that looks like, but speculation wise, I say, I know this isn't what you want
- 21:10to hear, but 50, 50.
- 21:12And this is exactly what happened several years ago when Netanyahu lost the seat.
- 21:17But Netanyahu's name is very popular in Israel still.
- 21:21Okay.
- 21:22Well, that's good.
- 21:23And Chris, a 50, 50 answer is safe.
- 21:26So you didn't go out on a limb either way.
- 21:29So we're not going to polymarket for this one.
- 21:31Okay.
- 21:32We're not going to play.
- 21:33So let me ask you this.
- 21:34We talked about, does Israel support Trump?
- 21:37What about the church and or the world and generally their support of Israel?
- 21:43So I think of Genesis 12, 3 and you can quote that again if you'd like, but is the world
- 21:49obligated or is the church you read the Bible?
- 21:52Are we obligated to bless Israel even in unbelief, a secular nation?
- 21:59I think the October 7th and the aftermath of the war has raised a lot of questions
- 22:05among evangelical Christians as to whether or not they would consider themselves Christian
- 22:10or biblical Zionists.
- 22:13And I want to challenge that idea that, you know, because they'll say, well, Israel's
- 22:18not even in a belief yet.
- 22:19They don't even believe in Jesus.
- 22:20So why do I have to support this secular state?
- 22:23Well, you know, if you actually go back in the Bible, there are moments where Israel is
- 22:28in total disobedience to God.
- 22:30And yet Genesis 12, 3, the theme of Genesis 12, 3 still shines through.
- 22:35So you know, you get to the Moab account in numbers, chapter 23, 24, 25, where Israel
- 22:44is coming to Moab and Baylik, the king of Moab, hires Baylam to come and curse Israel.
- 22:52And then now remember, Israel has been in disobedience along the way.
- 22:56You know, as they're not even in the land of Israel yet, and they would even commit
- 23:01acts of sexual immorality in the next chapter after that.
- 23:06So we're dealing with a disobedient people.
- 23:08And yet Baylam gets up to curse Israel.
- 23:11He's paged to curse Israel.
- 23:13And what does he say?
- 23:14How can I bless, you know, how can I curse what God has, you know, called me to bless?
- 23:20How can I, how can I do anything but bless these people that God has called us to bless?
- 23:24The entire time, the multiple times that Baylik called on Baylam to curse Israel every
- 23:31time he opened his mouth, a blessing came out.
- 23:34Why?
- 23:35Genesis 12, 3.
- 23:36Another moment is when the Israelites, the Jewish people returning from Persia back to Israel
- 23:43under the leadership of Ezra, Nehemiah, and Zerubbable, you know, you have to imagine.
- 23:47Number one, it's a Gentile who gives them permission to go home.
- 23:51And then they go get back and what are they doing?
- 23:53They're not doing the things that God had called them to do.
- 23:57They were still acting in disobedience.
- 23:59That's why Ezra had to come in and correct them spiritually.
- 24:03And so again, you, you have this, this, this moment where is God through with his people?
- 24:08No, he continues to use them.
- 24:10He continues to bless them even in the midst of their disobedience.
- 24:14So to me, and again, finally, in Romans chapter 11, verses 28 and 29, it talks about the
- 24:20fact that as, as they're, as Paul is speaking about his people, he says his people, they,
- 24:26they are enemies of the gospel.
- 24:27He says he uses very harsh words against the Jewish people.
- 24:30They're enemies of the gospel.
- 24:32But when it comes to election, they are beloved by God.
- 24:36Why?
- 24:37Because of the fathers, because of the forefathers, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob.
- 24:40So even in their disobedience, what is Paul saying?
- 24:44Don't be arrogant against Israel and the Jewish people.
- 24:47Don't be boastful against them, but understand that they have been chosen by God and that
- 24:52God's not done with them yet.
- 24:54So do we get a chance, are we called to curse Israel because they're in a moment of disobedient?
- 24:59No, we're actually called to bless them even in the midst of their disobedience.
- 25:04And you see that in the Old Testament and you see that in the New Testament as well.
- 25:08Great answer.
- 25:09Thank you, Chris.
- 25:11I just want to say, even whether they're in belief or unbelief, zoom out everybody
- 25:17and take a wide angle view of the world, pick out any people group other than Israel or any
- 25:24nation.
- 25:26And if that people group was attacked or a nation was attacked as often or as viciously
- 25:33as Israel, wouldn't you say, well, yeah, they have a right to defend themselves and we
- 25:39should support them because they don't deserve.
- 25:42But no, it's just really amazing, which really I think underscores the spiritual dimension
- 25:48to all this.
- 25:49It really is the spiritual at its core and what's happening, you know, it is spiritual warfare
- 25:55just to some degree.
