- 0:00[SPEAKER_05]: Welcome live to the Big Play Cleveland Show and Happy Victory Monday, Jack O'Rourke here alongside Chris Reef-Log, McNeil, and the Top Dog.
- 0:10[SPEAKER_05]: Hanford, how are you doing today?
- 0:11[SPEAKER_02]: I do a pretty good, that bark is a little loud today.
- 0:16[SPEAKER_02]: Oh yeah.
- 0:18[SPEAKER_02]: Voice is a little crackly because it was it was a rough weekend everything that's going on with Lot's sharing for the guard yeah the guards and Guys the Browns and but don't you know when you talk about the guards that give me sad So yeah, we got you survive.
- 0:38[SPEAKER_05]: Stop.
- 0:38[SPEAKER_02]: It's a cool.
- 0:39[SPEAKER_02]: We won't talk about that But I take the browser.
- 0:42[SPEAKER_02]: I'm just so excited because I I thought we're gonna win this game because I thought all we had to do was obviously
- 0:48[SPEAKER_02]: get after Snoop.
- 0:51[SPEAKER_02]: And we did, but it was a crazy game.
- 0:53[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, it was just a crazy game, but we'll take it anyway.
- 0:56[SPEAKER_02]: We can get it.
- 0:57[SPEAKER_05]: Before we hear from Chris about that big win, yesterday, let's hear what Todd Monkin had to say about it.
- 1:04[SPEAKER_03]: Who's in first place?
- 1:12[SPEAKER_03]: Hey, without playing our best yet, and that's what's really cool, right?
- 1:18[SPEAKER_03]: We got a lot of work to, but that's what I love about this group, because you don't ever shy away from work.
- 1:24[SPEAKER_05]: They don't shy away from work Chris.
- 1:25[SPEAKER_05]: How about these browns?
- 1:26[SPEAKER_05]: We talked about it a little bit earlier before the show even started.
- 1:30[SPEAKER_05]: It seems like every single week you're like, oh, what's going on?
- 1:34[SPEAKER_05]: You can start sending off the tweets about this team and then boom, they just turn it around out of nowhere.
- 1:39[SPEAKER_08]: You never get a good feel of the flow of the game with the Cleveland Browns right now.
- 1:43[SPEAKER_08]: You don't know what's going to end up happening until the clock strikes zeroes, right?
- 1:48[SPEAKER_08]: And that's what we saw yesterday.
- 1:49[SPEAKER_08]: You know, Zack Jackson had that tweet yesterday that the Browns didn't lead at all.
- 1:53[SPEAKER_08]: Didn't hold the ball with the lead.
- 1:55[SPEAKER_08]: At all in that ball game, it's drug zero.
- 1:58[SPEAKER_08]: We want it.
- 1:59[SPEAKER_08]: So it's kind of amazing watching the team right now You just played that clip from Todd Monk and I tell you what everybody seems to have bought in and I'd be interested Get your perspective on this hamford, but it seems like it's genuine that the team believes in him as a coach and he's genuine
- 2:16[SPEAKER_08]: when he says he not only wants to win, but it's really passionate about this group that he's got right now.
- 2:22[SPEAKER_08]: He recognizes all of our flaws and he's more than willing to tell it like it is, which is what we like about this guy.
- 2:29[SPEAKER_08]: But at the same time, even when he's straight, he's blunt, he'll tell you where he's staying.
- 2:34[SPEAKER_08]: He still gets everybody to rally around if it doesn't seem like there's a whole lot of hard feelings or anything like that.
- 2:38[SPEAKER_08]: Everybody's on the same page to get out there.
- 2:41[SPEAKER_08]: Give it their best effort.
- 2:42[SPEAKER_08]: Give it four quarters of effort, which is exactly what it took there on Sunday for us to finish the deal there.
- 2:48[SPEAKER_08]: Jack.
- 2:49[SPEAKER_05]: Hanford when you see the locker room like that after a big win the second tides the second scalp you've taken in the division so far this year only six weeks and it's got to feel great.
- 2:58[SPEAKER_05]: It's why you have that type rate over the two teams with you.
- 3:01[SPEAKER_05]: What's that locker room actually feeling like right now?
- 3:04[SPEAKER_02]: Well, you know, and I'm going to come in again on what Chris said to because I agree with it 100% and there's not a doubt in my mind that he has those guys they bought and there's not a doubt in my mind that they don't believe.
- 3:17[SPEAKER_02]: And you guys have heard me say a time and time again, we used to have a slogan that we always say at think you can win, think you can win because if you believe you can win, you'll find a way to win.
- 3:27[SPEAKER_02]: And that was the mindset that we had.
- 3:29[SPEAKER_02]: And I guarantee you, we're starting to see where these guys are starting to believe that.
- 3:37[SPEAKER_02]: I'll tell you this.
- 3:38[SPEAKER_02]: You guys know how tight I was in I are.
- 3:41[SPEAKER_02]: And obviously, we had dinner Saturday night.
- 3:47[SPEAKER_02]: Hotel they stayed they stayed the western downtown a state there last night and walked over to the stadium but listen to those guys talk about Todd I mean I tell you they have a tremendous amount of respect for him as a coach and also as a as a person and Todd just have a way
- 4:09[SPEAKER_02]: of making people like him because he's real.
- 4:13[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, what you see is kind of what you get and he's not fake.
- 4:16[SPEAKER_02]: He'll just tell you exactly what he's thinking and how he feels.
- 4:19[SPEAKER_02]: But and we all know, obviously, he's a damn good coach and he's proving to be right now.
- 4:25[SPEAKER_02]: a damn good head coach because again you look at a young ball club that he's taken and I'm telling you again he's got these guys believe it but I just love his speeches after a game especially after win he always have something to say last I think the last time it was like
- 4:48[SPEAKER_02]: uh... went there tonight i'll see you guys on uh... money you know give all that time all and then he just suddenly you know last yesterday talking about uh... who's a number one who's the top team in the uh... a.f.a.c.
- 5:00[SPEAKER_02]: north and obviously is his cleave and browns and again he has those guys believing
- 5:07[SPEAKER_05]: And for your defense, guys, so let's talk about that defense for a second.
- 5:10[SPEAKER_05]: Okay, 10 points through two drives.
- 5:12[SPEAKER_05]: After that, totally shut down from there, allowing the team to come back and win 13 to 10.
- 5:16[SPEAKER_05]: What does that?
- 5:17[SPEAKER_05]: What do you think that defense is saying when you come out and you're facing a backup quarterback?
- 5:21[SPEAKER_05]: Maybe you get scored on, walk down the field a little bit, you weren't expecting it, and then you're just locking in and win the game, basically.
- 5:26[SPEAKER_02]: Well, one thing you know, what we have to do with our defense, we gotta get them going early because when you look at them,
- 5:35[SPEAKER_02]: They this year they haven't been a very good football team a very good defense early in like in the first quarter But after the first quarter, they seems to settle in and settle down a little bit and that's exactly what happened yesterday You have to give these guys a credit a lot of credit.
- 5:54[SPEAKER_02]: I will you know, I was a little worried in the beginning because I was worried about Carson sweatsinger
- 6:00[SPEAKER_02]: maybe not being able to play because he is the, he is the master of that defense.
- 6:07[SPEAKER_02]: I think he's the glue that pretty much keeps everything together.
- 6:10[SPEAKER_02]: He is the second to call.
- 6:11[SPEAKER_02]: He's the one that makes making sure all the calls, the right calls are made and everybody's on the same page.
- 6:17[SPEAKER_02]: But he played yesterday and he was, I thought he had an an outstanding a ball game similar to the one that Quintie Williams had.
- 6:27[SPEAKER_02]: last ball game, but that defense, they just seem to come on, they've been, they've been, they've been, but they don't break.
- 6:36[SPEAKER_02]: And guys, I think if our offense can muster up some points, I think our defense is going to pretty much keep the opposing offenses in, in check.
- 6:47[SPEAKER_02]: And they're playing great as a unit from the back end, also to the front end.
- 6:53[SPEAKER_02]: And we just
- 6:56[SPEAKER_08]: Hey, I'd be remiss if I didn't ask you this question though, Hanford, back to Todd Monk and you did eat dinner there with Ozzy Newsome and I'm sure Ozzy was telling you how great Todd Monk was with the organization.
- 7:09[SPEAKER_08]: Why didn't they name him head coach then?
- 7:11[SPEAKER_02]: you know that's a good question uh... and and uh... i would love to know the answer to that but i think some of the stuff that they keep in in house you know and and he don't want to tell it out here right right and he knows if he tells me something like that you know i'm gonna i'm gonna leak it and uh... and talk about it but uh... that is of really good question and you know what
- 7:40[SPEAKER_02]: I'm wondering if they're thinking right now that maybe they did make a mistake because obviously they took the younger guy talking about Jesse Minder, who is there, he had coach right now, but Todd, and you know, Todd, you know, he was probably hurt.
- 7:59[SPEAKER_02]: a similar to the same way Jim was when they named him the head coach.
- 8:04[SPEAKER_02]: But that's a good question.
- 8:07[SPEAKER_02]: I wish I knew the answer to that, but Chris.
- 8:14[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, well, it was a skill one to ten the last time you talked to Ozzy yesterday, where were his muscles at do you think?
- 8:20[SPEAKER_02]: Well, the last time I talked to him, he was feeling pretty good.
- 8:24[SPEAKER_02]: What I did was I went up to the box that he was in, but this was before the game, probably about probably about 45 minutes, 30 minutes before the game.
- 8:34[SPEAKER_02]: I went up to the box and I sit down in a chat with him.
- 8:37[SPEAKER_02]: Now one thing I didn't do after the game or during the game, there was no conversation.
- 8:41[SPEAKER_02]: I didn't talk to him after the game because I knew he was in a bad mood.
- 8:45[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I knew he would, you know, he would have talked to me, because normally sometimes I'll go down and walk to the bus, what I'm, you know, down on the knees before they leave.
- 8:55[SPEAKER_02]: But I just didn't mess with him yesterday because I'm telling you man, and I don't want to take that dagger and stick it because I like the ravens.
- 9:04[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I really do, but what we part ways is when they're planning to clean the browser, baby, because otherwise you're brown all the way, and I don't want to take that dagger, just stick it and twist it.
- 9:14[SPEAKER_05]: Hey, you know who just though.
- 9:16[SPEAKER_02]: Carson Swassinger came in with a four-spong game a little boom a pretty big player and wasn't that a great great play because even I was you know I went back and I watched the play over and over again and If you watched it guys Derek Henry had both hands around the football and He was he was trying to secure the football and Carson just and it wasn't a punch
- 9:42[SPEAKER_02]: You know, normally you see one of the guys go and you know how today when they go and they punch the football out.
- 9:48[SPEAKER_02]: It wasn't a punch.
- 9:49[SPEAKER_02]: He just ripped it right out.
- 9:51[SPEAKER_02]: And I think then that was that was the one where the momentum really changed during the course of the ball game.
- 9:58[SPEAKER_05]: Let's hear what Carson Swesinger himself had to say about it, Hanford.
- 10:02[SPEAKER_04]: defense we just talked about the ball being oxygen so we were searching for it all game we knew we were going to get one eventually and we had everybody in the right spot on that and we're able to get the recovery and then obviously put the offensive and good spot to get points on the board.
- 10:13[SPEAKER_01]: And with this when you guys are now first place in the AFC north how's that sound?
- 10:17[SPEAKER_04]: I mean it's great feeling but we got to keep rolling all right we're on the next week already and I mean obviously celebrate this one today but keep it keep
- 10:26[SPEAKER_02]: the ball is like oxygen hands for what I believe that's a Mike written for the original quote, but how about that and what you know what I like you know I like what he said we just get a keep rolling and obviously what he's saying is they just have to keep stack of wins wins wins wins wins.
- 10:41[SPEAKER_02]: one after another one because again, the AFC North is shaping up to be what we thought it was going to be and that's one of the best divisions in the National Football League and you still got Cincinnati I think they had a bias today and Pittsburgh won I mean
- 11:03[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I mean, right when you think Pittsburgh's going to go and hide or just lay down and die.
- 11:08[SPEAKER_02]: I knew it was something.
- 11:09[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I mean, they pulled one out of the head.
- 11:12[SPEAKER_02]: It was a Tampa Bay out there.
- 11:13[SPEAKER_02]: Tampa Bay out there.
- 11:15[SPEAKER_02]: Do you see me?
- 11:16[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, there's fans right there.
- 11:18[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, I watched because I watched that once the Browns game.
- 11:20[SPEAKER_05]: I knew they put it on the CBS or whatever.
- 11:22[SPEAKER_05]: It was probably 60% Steelers fans.
- 11:23[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.
- 11:24[UNKNOWN]: Good.
- 11:25[SPEAKER_08]: Like, Chris, did you think they were going to pull that one off?
- 11:28[SPEAKER_08]: they always seem to the hamford you know the way that they are no I didn't until they do it it's kind of like we were talking about this jack and I before the show the browns are kind of more thin into that you know something the Steelers have done for years is just be at the top of the division you say hey on paper they're okay you don't think that there are anything spectacular
- 11:49[SPEAKER_08]: but they're all the sudden at the top of the division right now you look at the top of the vision the Cleveland Browns are up there and we don't do anything spectacular we talk about the defense the defense is pretty darn good right now offensively we don't do anything for three quarters and then we show up for one big drive and all the sudden boom here we are so are we kind of the new stealers are we more fit into that I wouldn't mind that
- 12:10[SPEAKER_02]: Well, you know what we do.
- 12:11[SPEAKER_02]: We play blue collar football.
- 12:13[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, we it's not fancy.
- 12:15[SPEAKER_02]: It's just we just do whatever we have to do to get it done and that's what this team is doing right now.
- 12:22[SPEAKER_02]: They're doing whatever they have to do to get it done and not like I said, we don't care how we do it.
- 12:28[SPEAKER_02]: Anyway, as long as we do it, that's the most important thing with this football team.
- 12:32[SPEAKER_05]: I wanted to ask you guys both about this real quick.
- 12:34[SPEAKER_05]: Tiny bit off topic, but I thought of this handfired when you brought up the Carson Swesinger, didn't really punch it out more of an old-school type of play.
- 12:41[SPEAKER_05]: Did you guys see what happened on the gym dance over the weekend?
- 12:44[SPEAKER_08]: No, once the ball and hurt his hand.
- 12:46[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, so JJ Rod was like explaining like the peanut toolman like punch out technique and Jim Nance did it.
- 12:55[SPEAKER_05]: And he like, I don't know if you like broke his thumb or something like that, but you have like a bandage on his hand.
- 13:00[SPEAKER_05]: What was he trying to do with the player?
- 13:03[SPEAKER_05]: Yes, on JJ, what is that awesome?
- 13:09[SPEAKER_02]: you've got to have that mentality, baby.
- 13:11[SPEAKER_02]: You know, right, you just got to have that feeling of it.
- 13:14[SPEAKER_02]: You can't just like halfway do it.
- 13:16[SPEAKER_02]: You've got to, you've got to be all in when you've trying to punch that baller.
- 13:20[SPEAKER_02]: Now, it wasn't one of our things when I was playing, but occasionally a guy would do something like that to punch a baller.
- 13:27[SPEAKER_02]: But I know it's something you can't because of
- 13:30[SPEAKER_02]: you know if you don't have all you it's like a fist you know you gotta have everything because if you don't I'm telling you that ball that ball's hard you guys know I mean that ball's not there's nothing so if you got to be able to do it but no I wasn't aware of that don't I hand for it's good video to check out later
- 13:47[SPEAKER_05]: Let's flip it around and talk about the Browns offense now guys because you win the game 13 10 that means obviously Hey, the defense showed up in the offense made the plays when it needed to but you're probably not gonna win a ton of games scoring 13 points The Browns right now.
- 14:00[SPEAKER_05]: I think they're at like 17 and a half points per game on the season, which is one point per game higher than they were last year with Kevin Stephanski and the plethora of quarterbacks
- 14:08[SPEAKER_05]: on a scale of one to ten with ten being no confident, or sorry, one being no confidence and ten being full confidence, how do you feel about this clue from Brown's offense right now?
- 14:18[SPEAKER_02]: I'm going to say what point in the game.
- 14:20[SPEAKER_02]: You go first, Grace.
- 14:22[SPEAKER_08]: You go first and I'm going to talk over here.
- 14:24[SPEAKER_08]: I was just asking for clarification here because you have to ask what point in the game, if it's the fourth quarter and we're making a drive.
- 14:31[SPEAKER_08]: Yeah.
- 14:31[SPEAKER_08]: Feel free to darn confidence, right?
- 14:33[SPEAKER_08]: Now, if we're first quarter, give me a zero.
- 14:35[SPEAKER_08]: If we're fourth quarter, final drive, give me a 10.
- 14:38[SPEAKER_08]: It looks like we're going to get it done every single time because we have been so far this season.
- 14:42[SPEAKER_08]: But overall, what does that average out to?
- 14:44[SPEAKER_08]: Oh, about a five, which is still an F for the offense right now.
- 14:47[SPEAKER_08]: I think if you look at the full game on film right now.
- 14:52[SPEAKER_02]: Hey, I tell you this because I'm sitting there and I'm watching and again, like just like Chris said in the beginning, it's, they struggle.
- 15:03[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, they really, really struggle, but toward the end of the game, it's like when we need a play or we need to create something on offense, we just happen to do it guys.
- 15:13[SPEAKER_02]: I'm sitting here and I'm going to give a lot of, a lot of credit to, uh, to Sean.
- 15:19[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, right now.
- 15:22[SPEAKER_02]: to Sean seemed like he just got full control.
- 15:26[SPEAKER_02]: He understands the offense.
- 15:28[SPEAKER_02]: He understand what Todd is trying to do.
- 15:30[SPEAKER_02]: And he is making plays.
- 15:33[SPEAKER_02]: Again, not only is he making plays with this arm, he making plays with this legs.
- 15:38[SPEAKER_02]: And for all those people that we're talking about getting rid of Jared Judy, I mean,
- 15:45[SPEAKER_02]: David, they had, I want to say you had, I kept telling you you had lost your mind.
- 15:50[SPEAKER_02]: Jerry, Judy, came up big yesterday.
- 15:54[SPEAKER_02]: And I don't have to tell you guys.
- 15:55[SPEAKER_02]: You guys know that you watched him.
- 15:57[SPEAKER_02]: He came up big when we really needed.
- 16:00[SPEAKER_02]: I think that last catch, what was like 30 some yards?
- 16:03[SPEAKER_02]: 33 yards, 33 yards, that last catch.
- 16:06[SPEAKER_02]: And then after that, when we were in, Fielgo range.
- 16:10[SPEAKER_02]: But Jerry, Judy, I thought,
- 16:12[SPEAKER_02]: I told you guys he wasn't going to be the guy that's moping around he is trying to find his footing with this offense And he's trying to figure out he was been trying to figure out a way that he can help Dishon in this office and yesterday He really really did because every every game is going to be somebody different like Denzel Boston is not going to be the guy every every week I mean and obviously I give a lot of credit to Dishon a lot of credit to Jared Judy yesterday
- 16:41[SPEAKER_05]: We heard what Chris and Hanford think about the state of the Brown's offense.
- 16:44[SPEAKER_05]: So let's see what the Sean Watson himself had to say after the victory.
- 16:47[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, we close.
- 16:48[SPEAKER_00]: There's their spots, this flashes, but we just got to be consistent.
- 16:51[SPEAKER_00]: You know, overall.
- 16:52[SPEAKER_00]: And that started with me, started with mom getting the guys in.
- 16:55[SPEAKER_00]: And then, you know, making sure we all run the same page.
- 16:57[SPEAKER_00]: No, what we want to call versus what they're doing, to be able to adjust, you know, on the fly.
- 17:01[SPEAKER_00]: So, again, you know, we're right there.
- 17:04[SPEAKER_00]: But, you know, there's still a lot to learn, still a lot to do.
- 17:07[SPEAKER_00]: And, you know, one of these weeks, it's going to click.
- 17:11[SPEAKER_02]: Hanford how close is this offense to clicking you know I think it's I think it's very close, but but one thing I know Todd is not going to rest He's not going to rest if you get it going
- 17:23[SPEAKER_02]: you know you look at that ball game the runny game for instance yesterday obviously we got to get that going but uh... quenchum was not there i mean he's the he wasn't done the game now uh... i give a lot of credit to what's the kid's name a calendar whatever his name is the runny back who uh... july on the clock yeah that's what i mean i'd request to me touched on to you know what he did he ran hard guys
- 17:47[SPEAKER_02]: He ran hard, he had a couple of big runs there.
- 17:51[SPEAKER_02]: I thought he played extremely well.
- 17:52[SPEAKER_02]: I thought he ran the ball hard, but offensive line.
- 17:57[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, still we just got too many penalties.
- 18:00[SPEAKER_02]: We gave up again, how many, we gave up too many sacks.
- 18:04[SPEAKER_02]: And we got to, we got to get that thing rolling because I'm telling you one thing.
- 18:08[SPEAKER_02]: If our defense contained a play, the way they've been playing,
- 18:13[SPEAKER_02]: All we need, all we need on all fences, like 20 points, get us 20 points, get us just over that 20 point ball game.
- 18:22[SPEAKER_02]: I think we can get over that.
- 18:24[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, we can, guys, we can go to run here.
- 18:26[SPEAKER_02]: We can win because defensively I'm telling you, these guys are just, they're just all in and I'm telling you all of them now, they're coming to the ball, they're planted ball and I thought Rooney was crazy.
- 18:37[SPEAKER_02]: I really did, I thought Rooney.
- 18:39[SPEAKER_02]: This guy he's never, never, never been a defense coordinator before and but Todd and a lot of confidence in him so I think I think we're gonna be okay.
- 18:51[SPEAKER_08]: Now top dog, I'm gonna press you a little bit.
- 18:53[SPEAKER_08]: You're giving a lot of bouquets right now to the Sean Watts.
- 18:56[SPEAKER_08]: Let me read you off his line yesterday.
- 18:59[SPEAKER_08]: 16 to 26, 164 yards, no touchdowns, no interceptions.
- 19:05[SPEAKER_08]: Now he did run for 29 yards.
- 19:07[SPEAKER_08]: Is that the type of line that we can weak out is gonna get it done for the Cleveland Browns?
- 19:12[SPEAKER_02]: Absolutely not.
- 19:13[SPEAKER_02]: Absolutely not.
- 19:15[SPEAKER_02]: And I was hoping you were gonna read on a stat
- 19:21[SPEAKER_02]: I think in the first half guys, I don't even think we had 50-year spasse.
- 19:28[SPEAKER_02]: Our total offense.
- 19:29[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, it was just ugly, ugly numbers, but no, that's not a recipe to win ball games.
- 19:35[SPEAKER_02]: All right, they understand and they know that they have to help the steep fence and I guarantee you Todd is he's working on and he's working like he said is a working progress and but right now they got to get it going because we're getting like pretty much a middle part of that schedule
- 19:53[SPEAKER_02]: and Pittsburgh is not going to go away.
- 19:56[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think Cincinnati is going to go away.
- 19:59[SPEAKER_02]: I think those guys in the, in that AMC North, and Baltimore, and we all know, even though we'd be Baltimore, we'd beat them without Lamar Jackson.
- 20:08[SPEAKER_02]: And I'm telling you, he's, he's going to come back.
- 20:12[SPEAKER_02]: So we got to get this thing rolling, but no, I don't think we can do it offensively if we keep playing the way that we're playing.
- 20:18[SPEAKER_05]: Chris, I'll ask you first and then I'll get hand-fords thoughts on this.
- 20:22[SPEAKER_05]: I put out yesterday, or sorry, this morning on all the big play Cleveland Socials, what grade would you give to Sean Watson through six games at this point in time?
- 20:30[SPEAKER_05]: I would say the most common answers, is that the mode?
- 20:33[SPEAKER_05]: No, that's the average.
- 20:34[SPEAKER_05]: Medium?
- 20:36[SPEAKER_05]: It is mode.
- 20:36[SPEAKER_05]: I was right.
- 20:37[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, the mode, the mode, the most common answers were like B minus C plus was seeing a lot of those.
- 20:43[SPEAKER_06]: Well, I'll tell you guys right now.
- 20:44[SPEAKER_06]: I put it in the poll right now.
- 20:45[SPEAKER_05]: The average of grade is a C. Okay, so what do you guys think?
- 20:50[SPEAKER_05]: What's your earlier poor card for the Sean?
- 20:53[SPEAKER_08]: I think that's accurate.
- 20:54[SPEAKER_08]: That's what I would say.
- 20:55[SPEAKER_08]: And that's what we were looking for, right?
- 20:57[SPEAKER_08]: When we were going into the season, we thought this defense was going to be pretty good.
- 21:00[SPEAKER_08]: We thought we had some offensive weapons.
- 21:02[SPEAKER_08]: We thought the offensive line is going to be a work in progress all year long.
- 21:06[SPEAKER_08]: If we can get out of just Sean Watson average play, we're going to end up winning some ball games and that's what's happened.
- 21:13[SPEAKER_08]: It hasn't been pretty, but that's exactly what's happened.
- 21:16[SPEAKER_08]: I
- 21:16[SPEAKER_08]: I will see this.
- 21:17[SPEAKER_08]: I will give them a higher grade when the game is on the line right now, which is really the most important part.
- 21:23[SPEAKER_08]: Um, so then you bump it up to a B, maybe an A even, because he is winning ball games for us.
- 21:29[SPEAKER_08]: But overall, yeah, I'd say a C right now for Deshawn.
- 21:33[SPEAKER_02]: I'm going to go with the B minus I'm going I know it.
- 21:37[SPEAKER_02]: I know it.
- 21:37[SPEAKER_02]: I know you guys think that I know you guys.
- 21:38[SPEAKER_02]: I know you guys.
- 21:39[SPEAKER_02]: I'm free.
- 21:40[SPEAKER_02]: I'm free.
- 21:40[SPEAKER_02]: I'm free.
- 21:40[SPEAKER_02]: I'm free.
- 21:40[SPEAKER_02]: I'm free.
- 21:41[SPEAKER_02]: I'm free.
- 21:41[SPEAKER_02]: I'm free.
- 21:41[SPEAKER_02]: I'm free.
- 21:41[SPEAKER_02]: I'm free.
- 21:42[SPEAKER_02]: I'm free.
- 21:42[SPEAKER_02]: I'm free.
- 21:43[SPEAKER_02]: I'm free.
- 21:44[SPEAKER_02]: I'm free.
- 21:44[SPEAKER_02]: I'm free.
- 21:45[SPEAKER_02]: I'm free.
- 21:45[SPEAKER_02]: I'm free.
- 21:46[SPEAKER_02]: I'm free.
- 21:46[SPEAKER_02]: I'm free.
- 21:47[SPEAKER_02]: I'm free.
- 21:47[SPEAKER_02]: I'm free.
- 21:47[SPEAKER_02]: I'm free.
- 21:48[SPEAKER_02]: I'm free.
- 21:48[SPEAKER_02]: I'm free.
- 21:49[SPEAKER_02]: I'm free.
- 21:49[SPEAKER_02]: I'm free.
- 21:50[SPEAKER_02]: I'm free.
- 21:50[SPEAKER_02]: I'm free.
- 21:51[SPEAKER_02]: I'm free.
- 21:52[SPEAKER_02]: I'm free.
- 21:53[SPEAKER_02]: I'm free.
- 21:53[SPEAKER_02]: I'm free.
- 21:54[SPEAKER_02]: I'm free.
- 21:54[SPEAKER_02]: I'm free.
- 21:55[SPEAKER_02]: I'm free.
- 21:55[SPEAKER_02]: I'm free.
- 21:56[SPEAKER_02]: I'm free.
- 21:57[SPEAKER_02]: I'm free.
- 21:57[SPEAKER_02]: I'm free.
- 21:57[SPEAKER_02]: I'm free.
- 21:57[SPEAKER_02]: I'm free.
- 21:58[SPEAKER_02]: I'm free.
- 21:58[SPEAKER_02]: I'm free.
- 21:59[SPEAKER_02]: I'm free.
- 21:59[SPEAKER_02]: I'm free.
- 21:59[SPEAKER_02]: I'm free.
- 22:00[SPEAKER_02]: I'm free.
- 22:00[SPEAKER_02]: I
- 22:00[SPEAKER_02]: get him to play a complete game that he hasn't done, but I'm telling you, I'm giving him a B-minus because there's no way, guys you can look at a guy that wanted to see should door-start this whole thing.
- 22:14[SPEAKER_02]: But again, I'll say it and say it again, the most important thing is for the Cleveland Browns to win, and the Sean right now has got the Cleveland Browns winning.
- 22:21[SPEAKER_02]: And I'm, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I,
- 22:26[SPEAKER_02]: You've heard me call him with the phrase who Deenie sometime here.
- 22:30[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, how in the hell can he get out of some of those situations?
- 22:33[SPEAKER_02]: I thought they had him.
- 22:34[SPEAKER_02]: And I felt so bad watching the game for Collears.
- 22:37[SPEAKER_02]: Uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh uh, uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh
- 22:49[SPEAKER_02]: I thought it was so funny, I think one of the commentators said that, you know, if I was involved right now, there's what go right back at it right now, because he's got to be tired, man.
- 23:00[SPEAKER_02]: But the China is really, really been getting, he's been using this like, you know what you look like guys, he started to look like a little bit the guy from Houston, a guy that we thought we were getting when we, when we gave him all that money, he started to look like that right now.
- 23:16[SPEAKER_08]: So Hanford.
- 23:16[SPEAKER_08]: Yeah.
- 23:17[SPEAKER_08]: This.
- 23:17[SPEAKER_08]: One question.
- 23:19[SPEAKER_08]: I wasn't at the game yesterday.
- 23:20[SPEAKER_08]: We had some customers who were actually Baltimore fans who we sent to the game who sat in our place.
- 23:25[SPEAKER_08]: So they had a fun afternoon by the end there.
- 23:28[SPEAKER_08]: But reports from there versus what the commentators were saying on TV about to Sean Watson.
- 23:34[SPEAKER_08]: The commentators were saying, hey, the receivers aren't open.
- 23:36[SPEAKER_08]: He's got no one to throw to.
- 23:38[SPEAKER_08]: I was hearing from some people who were actually at the game.
- 23:40[SPEAKER_08]: You can actually see a lot more than what you see on TV.
- 23:43[SPEAKER_08]: They were saying, no, he had options out there.
- 23:45[SPEAKER_08]: What did you see, Hanford?
- 23:47[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, you know, it was tough.
- 23:49[SPEAKER_02]: I thought, I thought, those, I thought their defense because you, you gotta look at some of those guys in the, in the backfield there.
- 23:59[SPEAKER_02]: I thought they did a pretty good job covering, or shutting down some of our overseas.
- 24:03[SPEAKER_02]: It was tough yesterday.
- 24:05[SPEAKER_02]: I didn't see what they saw.
- 24:06[SPEAKER_02]: I thought, I thought he didn't, I agree with him.
- 24:09[SPEAKER_02]: I thought he didn't have a lot of options right there.
- 24:11[SPEAKER_02]: I thought, I thought those guys did a pretty good job
- 24:17[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, this guy is a dog.
- 24:19[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, he's a dog, I mean, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he,
- 24:42[SPEAKER_05]: Hanford last question for you.
- 24:44[SPEAKER_05]: Okay, what's your new question.
- 24:46[SPEAKER_05]: You're a question.
- 24:46[SPEAKER_05]: What you got.
- 24:48[SPEAKER_05]: Who's the most famous person you've ever met?
- 24:51[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, man besides me, my self.
- 24:54[SPEAKER_02]: You know what?
- 24:59[SPEAKER_02]: Halle Berry, Halle Berry is, you know, I meant Halle Berry, but I'll tell you this.
- 25:07[SPEAKER_02]: I wish I'd have sent you guys this picture because yesterday, I'm sitting in the Cardiac Club and this guy come and get me, he said, somebody want to meet you.
- 25:19[SPEAKER_02]: And I said, oh, okay.
- 25:21[SPEAKER_02]: And then I get over there and it's Jason Day.
- 25:25[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, God, that's great.
- 25:26[SPEAKER_02]: That's great.
- 25:26[SPEAKER_02]: Really?
- 25:27[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 25:28[SPEAKER_02]: Jason Day, the golfer.
- 25:30[SPEAKER_02]: So I, you know, I talked shit with him for a while.
- 25:35[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, you know, I'm sorry.
- 25:36[SPEAKER_02]: I know you look at me funny dog.
- 25:38[SPEAKER_02]: Well, I'm sorry.
- 25:39[SPEAKER_02]: I should have said that.
- 25:40[SPEAKER_02]: But I'm giving him, and then I'm telling him about how the distance I hit my eight hour and nothing like what they do.
- 25:47[SPEAKER_02]: And then I said, Jason, you know,
- 25:50[SPEAKER_02]: When I when I go out and I hit a bad shot, I don't worry about it anymore because I see you guys Approved and you guys hit a bad shot every now and then and you guys play every day You know so You but I'll say this a very very nice guy and not he lives in Columbus
- 26:09[SPEAKER_08]: He does in Dublin.
- 26:10[SPEAKER_08]: Yeah.
- 26:11[SPEAKER_08]: He married a woman from Dublin.
- 26:12[SPEAKER_08]: Okay.
- 26:13[SPEAKER_08]: Famously, one of the last times he was in Cleveland when we had LeBron James.
- 26:17[SPEAKER_08]: Remember this, he was sitting in court side and LeBron James kind of ran over his wife.
- 26:23[SPEAKER_08]: Yeah, court side.
- 26:28[SPEAKER_08]: that literally happened.
- 26:29[SPEAKER_08]: So I have to go back to the archives and find that.
- 26:31[SPEAKER_08]: She was okay as it turns out, but yeah, LeBron was going for a ball just totally took her out.
- 26:36[SPEAKER_02]: It's funny you mentioned it because yeah, that happened, yes.
- 26:39[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, literally, yes.
- 26:40[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, about that one.
- 26:41[SPEAKER_05]: And Top Dog, thank you so much for joining us.
- 26:43[SPEAKER_05]: You're welcome, guys.
- 26:46[SPEAKER_05]: keep it going Browns keep it going and go go guardians need the guards to start winning some games don't go anywhere because we're about to have Jensen Lewis pop on to talk about game six of the ALCS but first we got to tell you about our friends over at the third estimate got a room in your house that's warmer in the summer and colder in the winter
- 27:05[SPEAKER_05]: Currents that move even when the windows are shut, it's not haunted.
- 27:08[SPEAKER_05]: It's drafty.
- 27:09[SPEAKER_05]: The third estimate will do a free window inspection, show you exactly where outside air is getting in and give you a red and price that's good for six months with absolutely no pressure.
- 27:19[SPEAKER_05]: Book your free window inspection at the thirdestimate.com or Hanford, ready for this one?
- 27:24[SPEAKER_05]: Call 1, 2, 3, 4 windows.
- 27:27[SPEAKER_05]: You can never forget that.
- 27:28[SPEAKER_05]: Call 1, 2, 3, 4 windows for the free window inspection.
- 27:31[SPEAKER_05]: The third estimate.
- 27:32[SPEAKER_05]: Small enough to listen and big enough to deliver.
- 27:35[SPEAKER_05]: Welcome back to the Big Play Cleveland Show, Jack, a rock alongside Chris, Reeflog, Mick, Neil, and now it's time to bring the heat.
- 27:41[SPEAKER_05]: Jensen Lewis, how are you doing today, Jensen?
- 27:43[SPEAKER_07]: Hi, boys up against it, right, Cleveland against the world now after a tough one yesterday and unfortunately, no Cleveland sweep with our Browns taking care of their business over by the lake, but hey, still chipping a chair here.
- 27:56[SPEAKER_07]: Gonna be a hostile environment tonight.
- 27:58[SPEAKER_07]: So, uh, lather it up, boys going to be a dog fight.
- 28:01[SPEAKER_07]: No question about it.
- 28:02[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, what do we say to the god of death not today, Jensen, big news breaking this morning.
- 28:07[SPEAKER_05]: Sean Armstrong is going to be the opener for Cleveland.
- 28:10[SPEAKER_05]: A lot of speculation would it be Joey Cantillo, would it be Tanner Bibi?
- 28:14[SPEAKER_05]: Is there an opener involved?
- 28:15[SPEAKER_05]: Would you ultimately make of the pitching plan in this vital game six?
- 28:19[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, very intriguing right to this will be the third street day that Sean Armstrong has pitched in and now this top three in that line up will have seen him.
- 28:28[SPEAKER_07]: Basically every single day and and so very interested to see how this first inning plays out personally I wouldn't have gone that way.
- 28:35[SPEAKER_07]: I would have gone with a spino and given him a chance to kind of write the ship will see how it plays out against even vote kind of up against it too right to he kind of played yesterday think I saw Mark Doros to say it.
- 28:47[SPEAKER_07]: I don't know, we network that it almost like an elimination game.
- 28:49[SPEAKER_07]: And I can understand why guys, if you look at the statistics teams that win game five on the road before going back home for potential games sixes and seven, they've gone on to win the series 21 of 28 times.
- 29:02[SPEAKER_07]: That's a 75% win percentage.
- 29:05[SPEAKER_07]: So you can understand that they knew those numbers headed in.
- 29:08[SPEAKER_07]: And obviously you want to win that swing game either way, whether you're at home or on the road.
- 29:12[SPEAKER_07]: But bottom line, they,
- 29:15[SPEAKER_07]: You're going to have to contain the big three now because Yani Diaz, a live and well, Jonathan Aronda is swinging it as well as any anybody and junior common arrow has found his stroke.
- 29:24[SPEAKER_07]: He's been a little bit more disciplined the last couple of days and I think that's bad news for this bullpen.
- 29:30[SPEAKER_08]: So give us reasons to be optimistic going into the day tonight.
- 29:33[SPEAKER_08]: What do you seen right now that you say, you know what, maybe they've got enough gas left in the tank because I saw accident over the weekend.
- 29:40[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, I think the opportunities had been there Chris as far as when you get runners and scoring position.
- 29:48[SPEAKER_07]: You know, you've put pressure on this club, both games four and five.
- 29:53[SPEAKER_07]: not being able to get a big hit when you need it is probably been the thing that's alluded this club.
- 29:58[SPEAKER_07]: I mean, Jose now reaching, if you go back now, his streak is kind of mind blowing guys.
- 30:03[SPEAKER_07]: It's a club record 17 consecutive postseason games that he's reached safely.
- 30:08[SPEAKER_07]: He's hit seven what seven for 19.
- 30:11[SPEAKER_07]: That's a 368 average year in the LCS the problem.
- 30:15[SPEAKER_07]: Really no slug Chris right now.
- 30:17[SPEAKER_07]: All seven of those hits have been single.
- 30:18[SPEAKER_07]: So you love to see him, you know,
- 30:23[SPEAKER_07]: out of the ballpark here.
- 30:24[SPEAKER_07]: I would say if you're looking for maybe the one big historical trend that would give us optimism, Chris Cleveland is three in a elimination games this postseason as we all know when you come back from an O2 hole.
- 30:36[SPEAKER_07]: They have acquitted themselves all three times.
- 30:39[SPEAKER_07]: So hopefully history continues.
- 30:42[SPEAKER_07]: But I think for me, you're going to have to
- 30:47[SPEAKER_07]: Not that he hasn't pitched while he has guys because you look at seven and two, third scoreless here in this playoffs.
- 30:53[SPEAKER_07]: And that's fantastic.
- 30:54[SPEAKER_07]: But now I worry, just a bit more about the familiarity factor with this top of the lineup.
- 30:59[SPEAKER_07]: You hope for maybe some traffic against Freddie Perlta.
- 31:03[SPEAKER_07]: I'll be it guys.
- 31:04[SPEAKER_07]: He has been just a one-man wrecking crew in his own right.
- 31:07[SPEAKER_07]: We can touch on him up coming.
- 31:09[SPEAKER_07]: But they've got to be able to find a way to score early.
- 31:12[SPEAKER_07]: Maybe hang a crooked number and that's asking a lot.
- 31:14[SPEAKER_07]: It's like trying to climb Everest without an oxygen tank.
- 31:16[SPEAKER_07]: The way this race gap is pitching right now.
- 31:19[SPEAKER_05]: Jensen talking about Freddie Pronto and looking forward to tonight and what this line up has to do it seemed like when he made a start earlier in the series at the trap like no fastball was too high right like just like everyone was going to everything came out of the pen on his uh... i guess life after i've why do i know the term for the day you pitch in between your starts but he came out pitch to uh... well and that was i think for saturday's game yes
- 31:43[SPEAKER_05]: It seems like the deadline additions have done basically nothing in the playoffs.
- 31:46[SPEAKER_05]: Well, what's got to change, Genson?
- 31:48[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, I mean, listen, here's what you're up against with Pearl to the raise of one each of the last nine appearances that he's been in.
- 31:55[SPEAKER_07]: You mentioned the side day that he came in.
- 31:58[SPEAKER_07]: We're starting to see that as a trend now.
- 32:00[SPEAKER_07]: Here's this postseason where starting pitchers want to take that side day and make it an inning.
- 32:05[SPEAKER_07]: that they can help their club in the real game.
- 32:07[SPEAKER_07]: So I'm sure that was talked about beforehand with Kevin Cash in an opportunity to get another really power arm there in a position of the order that you think you can take advantage of.
- 32:19[SPEAKER_07]: So eight starts nine appearances, Tampa is nine and no in those spots.
- 32:23[SPEAKER_07]: He's got a 0.79 ERA guys, four earn runs in 45 and a third innings in those last nine games with an opponent's average of a buck 58.
- 32:32[SPEAKER_07]: All that being said,
- 32:34[SPEAKER_07]: I think you kind of hit on a jack is that if there is early erratic command and there can be in close out games.
- 32:42[SPEAKER_07]: This is the hardest game to win for any club that's won win away regardless of the postseason series.
- 32:46[SPEAKER_07]: We just saw it with Chicago, right?
- 32:49[SPEAKER_07]: You almost had Cleveland on the ropes there.
- 32:51[SPEAKER_07]: If you get a multi run inning there in that first at rate field, but foster Griffin comes in, kind of rescues the day, calms everything down, gives the offense a chance to come back.
- 33:01[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, same scenario is sort of playing out here tonight guys when you look at Freddie Paralty and has the command and better.
- 33:09[SPEAKER_07]: Yes, but I'm trying to territory now an opportunity to punch your tickets to the world series and ironically guys I think it is maybe
- 33:18[SPEAKER_07]: on the anniversary here of their first pendant for Tampa Bay, you've got to go all the way back to when they beat the Red Sox in 2008.
- 33:25[SPEAKER_07]: That was a game seven there in St. Pete in the American League Championship Series.
- 33:29[SPEAKER_07]: So I think there's going to be a ton of emotion tonight.
- 33:32[SPEAKER_07]: I think it's always very difficult for the starter to throw in the first pitch to try and hone in those emotions.
- 33:39[SPEAKER_07]: And hopefully, you know, you get a nice
- 33:42[SPEAKER_07]: Get some traffic.
- 33:43[SPEAKER_07]: You'd love the score.
- 33:45[SPEAKER_07]: Obviously that's the the perfect scenario.
- 33:47[SPEAKER_07]: But I think kind of drive up that pitch count.
- 33:49[SPEAKER_07]: Get get a good feel of what Freddie Pearl to stuff is going to be like tonight.
- 33:54[SPEAKER_08]: Jensen, it's so different, a game like this, a close-out game, obviously starter, reliever, everybody's kind of available during this game.
- 34:02[SPEAKER_08]: You can throw anything you want at them.
- 34:04[SPEAKER_08]: What's the thought and take me back to when you were playing?
- 34:08[SPEAKER_08]: What is the mindset of relievers of starters, of the pictures when you come into a game like this, where you know, hey, no matter what, you could be called upon and you could be called upon in a situation you're not really used to.
- 34:19[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, not going to be a lot of seats available down the left field line tonight.
- 34:22[SPEAKER_07]: Guys, you're going to see pretty much everybody except Gavin Williams.
- 34:27[SPEAKER_07]: So you got to dozen 13 arms that are going to be down there.
- 34:30[SPEAKER_07]: Kind of wait to see how it all plays out.
- 34:33[SPEAKER_07]: I would imagine Chris that there have probably been conversations whether that be on the flight down or maybe earlier this afternoon where Carl get with, you know, the staff and with voter and they'll try and map it out the way that they see fit and then they'll go
- 34:49[SPEAKER_07]: those guys when they go out to play catch and and start to get moving around of hey here's the pocket you know we'd be looking for you and so so no one is going to be caught by surprise I think you're going to have a couple of scenarios in place that you know if Sean Armstrong gets in trouble who's the first guy kind of that emergency arm that's going to be ready to go to moments notice and then you'll probably play eating by eating at that point to see
- 35:15[SPEAKER_07]: You know, if you, if it is a Joey Cantillo, uh, after a Sean Armstrong, we know that left hand at pitching is given fits to this raise line up, not only in the regular season, but it's caused trouble for them this postseason.
- 35:27[SPEAKER_07]: To me, that kind of feels, you know, the way that you would go right now, I'm not sure they'd go right to foster Griffin who through 44 pitches.
- 35:34[SPEAKER_07]: in stellar relief the other day.
- 35:36[SPEAKER_07]: But that that could be it.
- 35:37[SPEAKER_07]: It may be foster Griffin and came and said, Hey, listen, we don't get the play tomorrow.
- 35:41[SPEAKER_07]: If we don't get to tomorrow.
- 35:43[SPEAKER_07]: So a couple of scenarios, I think Chris could be at play, but now kind of looking at where you are.
- 35:49[SPEAKER_07]: I don't think we see Timmy here and right away or if we do,
- 35:53[SPEAKER_07]: Because he's pitch back the back days, this might be it might be just a clean up inning for him, but no more than anything if you can kind of understand because again, if you win tonight, you've got to have arms to be able to go to tomorrow.
- 36:05[SPEAKER_07]: So this is a weird managerial spot for Steven vote because you you are managing for two games.
- 36:12[SPEAKER_07]: You have to get through tonight, but you also got to have reinforcements for Gavin Williams tomorrow of those relievers that have already pitch back the back days or potentially three in a row.
- 36:22[SPEAKER_05]: So, Jensen, where do you fall on being announced that Gavin Williams probably is not gonna go tonight on short rest because, as you've talked about, there's two schools of thought on it.
- 36:30[SPEAKER_05]: There's one school of, okay, if we don't win game six, they're in a game seven, so you kind of need your ace to go in game six to even survive.
- 36:38[SPEAKER_05]: And then there's the thought of, while you still have to win two games, even if you do win tonight, so you gotta kind of prep for both at the same time.
- 36:45[SPEAKER_07]: Jack, I think they knew going into Game 3 and that they were going to be very tentative or not tentative, I should say they were going to be very cautious with the workload for Gavin Williams.
- 36:55[SPEAKER_07]: I think they knew before Game 3 started that if this series needed to go the distance, then Gavin Williams was not even going to touch Game 6 because of the innings threshold that he's already
- 37:06[SPEAKER_07]: blown past this year through the regular season and postseason combined.
- 37:11[SPEAKER_07]: This was not only a decision made because of the moment and knowing that, hey, if we do get to a game seven, we at least have Gavin on his regular rest and and be able to go on his normal turn.
- 37:22[SPEAKER_07]: But this is also about the future of the franchise.
- 37:25[SPEAKER_07]: He, Parker Messick, are the pillars of this pitching staff and this rotation that you're going to build around and rely on for years to come.
- 37:33[SPEAKER_07]: So this is a horrendously difficult spot for a Christianity and my turn off of.
- 37:40[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, we, we want to win.
- 37:42[SPEAKER_07]: We, we, you just, you never know how many opportunities you're going to have in this spot, and at the same time you have the balance, what is best for the player here short term and long term.
- 37:53[SPEAKER_07]: I think they've made the right decision, but I'll tell you what guys, I think they took a motion out of it before game three and said, guys, if it gets down to it.
- 38:02[SPEAKER_07]: Then we are going to protect Gavin Williams and not let him go very long if you know five and died was the plan they executed it perfectly there in game three and then if we get to a game seven so be it he's our guy and we've got him on regular rest.
- 38:17[SPEAKER_08]: talked a lot about pitching.
- 38:18[SPEAKER_08]: Excuse me, Jensen.
- 38:20[SPEAKER_08]: So far, what do you think about the Guardian's offensive approach?
- 38:23[SPEAKER_08]: Does anything change from an offensive standpoint in a close-out game like this?
- 38:28[SPEAKER_08]: Is there something you try that you do differently?
- 38:30[SPEAKER_08]: Or do you just kind of hope that the bats wake up?
- 38:34[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, there, there is probably a little bit of a hope here.
- 38:37[SPEAKER_07]: I think they're happy.
- 38:38[SPEAKER_07]: They won't see Jurassicus in the rest of the series.
- 38:40[SPEAKER_07]: Maybe they won't see in the rest of the series, you hope because he's just been a one man.
- 38:44[SPEAKER_07]: You got a tip your cap at that point, Chris.
- 38:46[SPEAKER_07]: I mean, great pitching is going to be great hitting.
- 38:49[SPEAKER_07]: We have watched it for Cleveland rotations and bullpens for so many post seasons of the last couple of decades.
- 38:55[SPEAKER_07]: I mean, I can give you firsthand knowledge.
- 38:57[SPEAKER_07]: When you have great pitching, it doesn't matter on the hitting side.
- 39:00[SPEAKER_07]: That's just the way the game is.
- 39:02[SPEAKER_07]: Here's what I would I would look at.
- 39:04[SPEAKER_07]: A, you know, the, the tried and true try and get to the the raise bull pen earlier try and force a high pitch count for Freddie Perlton.
- 39:12[SPEAKER_07]: And if there is going to be a guy Chris that that could have some erratic command, it's going to probably be Freddie Perlton.
- 39:19[SPEAKER_07]: Now, make no mistake.
- 39:21[SPEAKER_07]: His last nine appearances.
- 39:22[SPEAKER_07]: He has been super.
- 39:23[SPEAKER_07]: He has been excellent.
- 39:25[SPEAKER_07]: Are we do for some regression?
- 39:26[SPEAKER_07]: You know, maybe that's the little bit of luck.
- 39:28[SPEAKER_07]: You hope goes to the guardian side tonight in that regard.
- 39:31[SPEAKER_07]: But bottom line, Joe Adele, Nathaniel Low, going 3 for 27 to this point 11 strike outs over their last four games, that can't happen, there cannot be the swing and miss tonight, especially with runners and scoring position.
- 39:48[SPEAKER_07]: sell out to put the ball in play.
- 39:50[SPEAKER_07]: Good things happen.
- 39:51[SPEAKER_07]: Force the defense to have to get you out that way, but if the strikeouts pile up early Chris for this offense, that is a really tough way to do business on the road in an elimination game.
- 40:03[SPEAKER_05]: Jensen got to ask you the big question.
- 40:04[SPEAKER_05]: Do you think this card's team ultimately forces a game seven tomorrow night?
- 40:08[SPEAKER_05]: And who if so, who makes the biggest impact?
- 40:11[SPEAKER_07]: I think if it happens, here would be my ex-factors.
- 40:15[SPEAKER_07]: Number one, I think Jose Ramirez has to have at least two or more total bases.
- 40:19[SPEAKER_07]: I think he would have to either have a multi-hit effort or have some sort of slug tonight that impacts the game.
- 40:25[SPEAKER_07]: Now, whether that comes early, whether that comes late, it doesn't matter to me, but I look at it from the race side.
- 40:31[SPEAKER_07]: Junior Common Arrow had their biggest swing
- 40:34[SPEAKER_07]: You know, early in game four and looking what they did in game five.
- 40:38[SPEAKER_07]: The top of the lineup must be impactful tonight.
- 40:41[SPEAKER_07]: And I think Jose Ramirez has to be that guy.
- 40:44[SPEAKER_07]: I think the other part of it that that maybe, you know, would would help the defense must be perfect.
- 40:51[SPEAKER_07]: If you give Tampa extra outs.
- 40:54[SPEAKER_07]: You've already seen what they do to you earlier in this series and we saw what happened over the weekend.
- 40:59[SPEAKER_07]: You cannot under any circumstances give away outs.
- 41:04[SPEAKER_07]: If you give this team extra outs, you're not playing tomorrow, playing in simple.
- 41:08[SPEAKER_07]: So the very mindful of the fundamentals be very clean with your transitions and your relays.
- 41:15[SPEAKER_07]: I think that is paramount on the road and period here in this postseason.
- 41:20[SPEAKER_07]: So no extra outs to this raise offense and try and get the leader.
- 41:25[SPEAKER_08]: So I was thinking about this yesterday, Jensen as we lost at home and walking out of progressive field there.
- 41:32[SPEAKER_08]: It may be a year and a half before we see the lights come on again, it progressive field because of the labor dispute right now, mutually baseball.
- 41:40[SPEAKER_08]: Have you seen any kind of movement?
- 41:43[SPEAKER_08]: We didn't really expect anything during the postseason.
- 41:45[SPEAKER_08]: I'm sure, but what are the next dominoes to fall as we go into the postseason at some point here?
- 41:52[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, to be fair, Chris, I think that the focus and rightly so and from both sides has been, you know, we want everyone to enjoy this postseason, we want our full focus here and and traditionally that's the way that it's transpired Chris in years past when we've come up against a labor agreement expiration date, I don't anticipate we hear anything as far as.
- 42:16[SPEAKER_07]: major changes in proposals or we've had our back and forth a lot of the owners proposals have been tied to well we'll do all this as long as you agree to a cap and a floor well that's a non-starter you know for the players association side so really just posturing at this point.
- 42:32[SPEAKER_07]: I don't think we get any movement before the expiration there on December 1st and I don't think that's earth-shattering news to everyone.
- 42:38[SPEAKER_07]: I think we all expect that that leverage point will be enacted from the owner's side and let's be clear.
- 42:45[SPEAKER_07]: The owners are locking out the players.
- 42:47[SPEAKER_07]: This isn't the player is going on strike.
- 42:49[SPEAKER_07]: The players have been at the table.
- 42:50[SPEAKER_07]: They've offered their proposals.
- 42:52[SPEAKER_07]: They have offered their counters.
- 42:54[SPEAKER_07]: It is the owners who will ultimately make that
- 42:58[SPEAKER_07]: But they're going to make that call and so hopefully the public perception understands that that's the owner's decision they're making it the players don't want to go to a lock out.
- 43:07[SPEAKER_07]: They want to continue bargaining in fairness without that happening.
- 43:11[SPEAKER_07]: So what happens next?
- 43:12[SPEAKER_07]: Well, the business of baseball then stops Chris so.
- 43:15[SPEAKER_07]: off-season moves, coaches, hiring managers, hiring's firings.
- 43:20[SPEAKER_07]: I know there was a memorandum that kind of went out and said, hey, if you're going to weddings, you know, you can't really talk to each other.
- 43:27[SPEAKER_07]: I mean, it's kind of weird.
- 43:29[SPEAKER_07]: But that's the nature of a workstoppage and those are kind of the the guardrails that will be put in place here.
- 43:36[SPEAKER_07]: So in the near term, what to expect?
- 43:39[SPEAKER_07]: I don't think really anything, it would be a one in a million chance if there is any significant movement before that December first deadline.
- 43:49[SPEAKER_07]: I think I've told you guys in the past and it remains the same for me.
- 43:53[SPEAKER_07]: I'll look towards the middle of January because usually a month from then is when we start to, you know, pictures and captures reporting.
- 44:00[SPEAKER_07]: And our usual truncated spring training schedule to get ready for a season would probably be four weeks.
- 44:07[SPEAKER_07]: So we know that the major league season will start at least scheduled to start in that final week of March and you can kind of work your way back from there.
- 44:15[SPEAKER_07]: So my first real checkpoint would be that middle of January portion of the calendar.
- 44:20[SPEAKER_07]: If there's not been significant movement from both sides towards the middle, then we start to looking at a delay to the start of the season, not missing games, a delay to the start of the season.
- 44:33[SPEAKER_07]: And, you know, we're still at this end pass, then I think we start to miss significant portions of the schedule.
- 44:39[SPEAKER_07]: So that's kind of the rough draft if you will without really any other insight from what those conversations are like, but that to me is kind of where we've been up to this point expecting what that schedule will look like.
- 44:52[SPEAKER_05]: Sounds like the long story short is you better win the next two, basically.
- 44:56[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, it's exactly right.
- 44:57[SPEAKER_05]: Jensen, last question can ever be about baseball.
- 45:01[SPEAKER_05]: We asked Han for the same question earlier.
- 45:03[SPEAKER_05]: Who's the most famous person you've ever met?
- 45:06[SPEAKER_07]: Wow, the first one would be Michael Phelps.
- 45:09[SPEAKER_07]: And it was after 2008 in Beijing, the Olympics there where he went the perfect date for eight, had a friend of mine that was dating him at the time.
- 45:20[SPEAKER_07]: And it was a really unique thing.
- 45:22[SPEAKER_07]: Like when you're in the presence of that kind of greatness, you know, like eight.
- 45:26[SPEAKER_07]: You say his name anywhere in the world at that point and everyone knows who that is and just a unique and even unfortunately a Raven's fan if I have to hold something against a huge Raven's fan was a big strike against him but Couldn't have been a nicer guy incredible athlete obviously with with what he accomplished and just kind of one of the dudes you know it again we have kind of that fraternity of baseball players you know we we get on each other all the time and they're kind of the same way so.
- 45:55[SPEAKER_07]: It was really cool to meet him and and talk some shop about what his training regimen is like in, you know, everything that goes into being the very best at what he did.
- 46:06[SPEAKER_07]: So I would say that that's probably that's probably it's on and then Sloan from on to Raj for our millennials out there in Vegas.
- 46:14[SPEAKER_07]: They were having dinner next to us and so, you know, that that star struck moment.
- 46:20[SPEAKER_07]: you know, we all we all watched on trash right at one point.
- 46:23[SPEAKER_07]: It was destination TV on Sunday nights in and Sloan of annual Cherokee issue is just she couldn't have been more gracious, took pictures and everything.
- 46:32[SPEAKER_07]: So that's that's probably the top two.
- 46:35[SPEAKER_07]: At least at that point in life that was pretty hard to be.
- 46:39[SPEAKER_05]: Did you know that we had Jeremy Peven in studio?
- 46:42[SPEAKER_07]: Oh my god.
- 46:42[SPEAKER_07]: I mean, that's so good.
- 46:43[SPEAKER_07]: Ari is, uh, maybe the funniest character ever, as soon as you hear and see him go into care, like you just go right back to it.
- 46:52[SPEAKER_07]: It's an unmistakable character, one of the best of any TV series I think in the modern era.
- 46:57[SPEAKER_07]: Heck, if not history, that's really neat.
- 47:00[SPEAKER_07]: So I'll have to go back and see that episode where you guys had it.
- 47:03[SPEAKER_05]: Oh, he's not when he said Lloyd, it was like the coolest thing in the world.
- 47:06[SPEAKER_05]: We all had to show us this awesome.
- 47:07[SPEAKER_05]: Jen, thank you so much for joining us as always.
- 47:10[SPEAKER_05]: Hopefully the guards get it done in force, A tomorrow.
- 47:13[SPEAKER_07]: I hope so, too, guys.
- 47:14[SPEAKER_07]: Hope we're talking again in some World Series bringing the heat for sure.
- 47:18[SPEAKER_05]: I mean, that'd be something special.
- 47:19[SPEAKER_05]: Don't go anywhere we're going to keep talking guards on the Big Play Cleveland show, but first, we got to tell you about our friends over at Pizza216.
- 47:26[SPEAKER_05]: West Sideers get ready, Pizza216 has a new location opening in Avan.
- 47:30[SPEAKER_05]: And for your next guard's game tonight, and hopefully it's not the last, head downtown to 401 Euclid Avenue.
- 47:36[SPEAKER_05]: They've got plenty of TVs, a great bar seen in over 20 draft beers.
- 47:39[SPEAKER_05]: Plus, a menu that goes way beyond pizza, especially the guard looking at the guard
- 47:43[SPEAKER_05]: Bring your crew, grab some food, and cheer on the guards together.
- 47:47[SPEAKER_05]: Pizza 2-1-6, your downtown game day spot, with the new location coming to Avon.
- 47:51[SPEAKER_05]: Check them out at pizza-216.com.
- 47:54[SPEAKER_06]: Welcome back into the Big Play Cleveland Show live right here on YouTube, Ryan Tyler.
- 47:58[SPEAKER_07]: I'm back on the show, guys.
- 47:59[SPEAKER_06]: Chris, we've lost our week kneel, joined by Jack Rork.
- 48:02[SPEAKER_06]: Of course, Jensen gave us a lot to think about, guys.
- 48:04[SPEAKER_06]: Now I want to know what your thoughts are, Jack.
- 48:06[SPEAKER_06]: I'll start with you, my friend.
- 48:08[SPEAKER_06]: What's one thing these guardians have to do differently tonight and how
- 48:14[SPEAKER_06]: hit the baseball man.
- 48:15[SPEAKER_05]: I think that's definitely the biggest one.
- 48:17[SPEAKER_05]: I think there was a point in the sixth inning when hits were a 10 to one, even though the score was still two nothing or something like that.
- 48:22[SPEAKER_05]: It's just, you've got, honestly, I'm going to say this to you got a score first.
- 48:25[SPEAKER_05]: I think you got a score first.
- 48:26[SPEAKER_05]: You don't want to let that building and whatever fans, if Tampa Bay truly does have fans, can get into that game at all.
- 48:32[SPEAKER_05]: You know, I think that's where it starts.
- 48:34[SPEAKER_05]: And Johnson talked about it.
- 48:35[SPEAKER_05]: Like you need more out of Joe Adel and Nathaniel Lowa comes down to that.
- 48:37[SPEAKER_05]: Like,
- 48:38[SPEAKER_05]: you've gotten from Jose throughout the playoffs, you've gotten from DeLater, he had that great walk towards the end of the game last night.
- 48:43[SPEAKER_05]: You need those two to show up and I understand that you don't have a ton of right handed hitters and you don't only have one right handed hitters, so I know Joe Adele has to like help break up the lefties a little bit, but like I think it's over 450 played appearances against the right handed pitching this year and he has a below 600 OPS,
- 48:58[SPEAKER_05]: That's just simply not going to cut it.
- 48:59[SPEAKER_05]: That's like Austin Hedges pre 2026 type numbers.
- 49:02[SPEAKER_05]: So that's just tough.
- 49:03[SPEAKER_05]: And yeah, you hope you're wrong.
- 49:05[SPEAKER_05]: And you hope he runs into one or low runs into one.
- 49:07[SPEAKER_05]: But if you, you need, like, similar to the game one win, you need the deadline guys to show up.
- 49:12[SPEAKER_08]: Yeah, you got a hit or a hit or go home, right?
- 49:15[SPEAKER_08]: If we don't hit, we're done.
- 49:17[SPEAKER_08]: So we're going to need, and you mentioned, I mean, Joe Adele that he's got to step up big time.
- 49:23[SPEAKER_08]: I'm also looking for Jose Ramirez.
- 49:25[SPEAKER_08]: I know he's been stepping up, but that's what we expect out of our stars.
- 49:28[SPEAKER_08]: And you get into an elimination game.
- 49:30[SPEAKER_08]: I expect our stars to step up, and I think Jose really is just primed to have a big couple of games here for the Guardians, and I think if the Guardians are going to move on, it's going to be because you're going to look back and say, wow, just when you thought he couldn't do more Jose Ramirez, stepped up in those two games, brought it back.
- 49:50[SPEAKER_08]: to Cleveland for the world series because of what he did against Tampa Bay on the road.
- 49:54[SPEAKER_08]: I could definitely see a scenario where that happens and that's what I'm looking for.
- 49:58[SPEAKER_08]: I'm looking for our stars really to step up here in this game.
- 50:01[SPEAKER_06]: Chris, what would you say is frustrated you the most throughout this recent stretch of games?
- 50:05[SPEAKER_06]: The offense, the decision making, or just knowing the chance you had an opportunity to take control at home?
- 50:12[SPEAKER_08]: that right because you know there's so many times it seems with this team that you go home you're playing in front of your home crowd and you just can't get it done for whatever reason you know we were under 500 at home when you consider the regular season now into the playoffs and it's very frustrating because the fans are there and maybe and I've heard this suggested on social media
- 50:34[SPEAKER_08]: Maybe it's just too much.
- 50:35[SPEAKER_08]: Maybe the Jose Jose, all those chants and maybe they take me home, country roads for chased a lot or maybe all of that stuff and all the pageantry around this team just gets to be a little bit too much for the team and it's a little bit easier on the road.
- 50:51[SPEAKER_08]: where it's either neutral or you got people against you, and you could just go out and kind of concentrate on your craft there.
- 50:59[SPEAKER_08]: I don't necessarily buy that.
- 51:00[SPEAKER_08]: I think it's an interesting perspective on things.
- 51:03[SPEAKER_08]: But at the end of the day, we got to figure that out down the road.
- 51:06[SPEAKER_08]: We've got to be able to perform at home.
- 51:08[SPEAKER_08]: I think back to those 95 teams, and I'm an old head, so I go back to those teams.
- 51:12[SPEAKER_08]: But those teams, when we were at home, we just wouldn't lose.
- 51:16[SPEAKER_08]: you know, whatever happened on the road happened on the road, but we were at home in front of our fansman, we would show out night in and night out, and that became real intimidation for teams to come into.
- 51:26[SPEAKER_08]: Right now, for whatever reason, the fans are there.
- 51:28[SPEAKER_08]: The excitement is there.
- 51:30[SPEAKER_08]: I think the aura is there.
- 51:31[SPEAKER_08]: Everything is there for Cleveland, but the team is just not responding where we're at home.
- 51:35[SPEAKER_08]: Hey, good news is we're on the road to close this thing out, so let's get it done in these two.
- 51:41[SPEAKER_05]: answer none of them yeah it's the defense for sure for me i i think you can't don't get me wrong the offense has a boat load of issues right now but you have had moments in the playoffs where they've shown up in big games and put up nine runs seven runs we saw that more so against Chicago but on the early i think in game one in this series the defense though like you can't give them extra outs you can't make little airs when you play this
- 52:01[SPEAKER_05]: guards ball style as we talk about you like you you have to be perfect.
- 52:05[SPEAKER_05]: You can't only like it it it contradicts the the style beating yourself you know like you and it's one thing to lose I mean I have the race had a bunch of blue pits and stuff yeah that that happens it's part of baseball we see in the guards with that way before but when when that kind of stuff is happening and you're not getting bounces you got to do every little thing right and that and that's the issue is not doing those like I can't excuse not hitting the baseball but that's hard to do it's the hardest thing in sports probably like field and ground balls is different
- 52:29[SPEAKER_06]: obviously the Yankees have the money.
- 52:30[SPEAKER_06]: They have the the bats, but that kind of reminds me like not everything in the postseason is all offense because that was their downfall a couple years.
- 52:38[SPEAKER_08]: Well look at Tampa Bay to Jack's point where we haven't played very well defensively Tampa Bay has looked just fantastic defensively they have been doing it really well out in the field.
- 52:47[SPEAKER_08]: and that makes it very difficult for a team that can't hit what we need if we're not going to hit the long ball which by the way we've talked about before when we're winning games it was actually hitting the long ball wasn't guards ball but if we want to bring guards ball back we need the other team to make a couple of mistakes to kind of light the fuse on guards ball and they haven't done that.
- 53:06[SPEAKER_08]: to their credit.
- 53:07[SPEAKER_08]: They have played very good defense.
- 53:09[SPEAKER_08]: They have played above average.
- 53:10[SPEAKER_08]: There are a few plays yesterday.
- 53:12[SPEAKER_08]: We're just like, oh my god, what do we have to do to get a hit and infield hit is off the table right now?
- 53:17[SPEAKER_08]: So props to them.
- 53:19[SPEAKER_08]: And I don't know why, but our defense has really gone south.
- 53:22[SPEAKER_08]: I get real nervous.
- 53:23[SPEAKER_08]: And I don't know if you guys are the same way.
- 53:25[SPEAKER_08]: If the ball goes to second place, based right now, Travis Bazana, it's like I am just gripping to see if we're going to get the out and record that.
- 53:34[SPEAKER_08]: And you never know exactly what he's going to do.
- 53:36[SPEAKER_08]: And that that puts you in a really awkward position when you're out there in the playoffs.
- 53:41[SPEAKER_06]: Jack, how much of work Cleveland right now can you put on vote if anything?
- 53:44[SPEAKER_05]: some of it is a manager, right?
- 53:46[SPEAKER_05]: I mean, you got to give a lot of credit for this team getting here.
- 53:49[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, but trying to get a second inning out of Matt Festa, kind of deciding to punt that Saturday night game prematurely.
- 53:56[SPEAKER_05]: I thought because I think that then you kind of hit you stage that comeback.
- 53:59[SPEAKER_05]: Then it was too late because you allowed five runs in the middle innings for not seemingly no reason, but because of the decisions you made and who you went to at that time.
- 54:06[SPEAKER_05]: I think yesterday,
- 54:08[SPEAKER_05]: You know, no, and again, hey, it does did the league make it harder on Steven vote because one game got pushed up.
- 54:13[SPEAKER_05]: One game got canceled four days in a row.
- 54:16[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, it's really hard to use all of your leverage relievers as much as he had, but he's almost had to even though he knows he has to have two more days because he can't rely on Taylor.
- 54:28[SPEAKER_05]: You can't blame Stephen vote for Parker Messick going to innings and he uses bullpen for seven innings the best way he could like, but there's there's definitely been issues I think there's some with a lineup as well like the PD help and button was right I wonder if it's starting to get closer to the Angie Martinez button again.
- 54:44[SPEAKER_05]: I've been calling for the on Hell and now button for about a week now because I would say that there's been issues at short stop as well as second base with Rokiha right now and I love Rokiha and I'm hoping there's a playoff moment but with each passing game and the batting average going closer and closer to my weight like I start to worry about bright and Rokiha showing up in the playoff so have there been issues yes but I'm not sitting here going fire Stephen vote I do think that he's been out managed though.
- 55:09[SPEAKER_06]: Chris, how you feel about voter, and what do you think the biggest decision that he's going to make today is going to be, because obviously, an interesting, you start Sean Armstrong, and I think it gets into an interesting conversation that we can have about Tanner Bivie did not intentionally, of course, but I'm how much did that work the Guardians posts, he's in plans.
- 55:26[SPEAKER_06]: Chris, your status, all the way still in on voter, does he get any flag if they kind of flame out here?
- 55:31[SPEAKER_06]: What are your thoughts on two-time coach of the year manager?
- 55:33[SPEAKER_06]: I should say he's even though.
- 55:35[SPEAKER_08]: Yeah, and I take the long view on that, I see what he's done with this team over the last several years here now.
- 55:41[SPEAKER_08]: And the fact that he's a two-time manager of the year, and he's brought these teams that we all agree, we need more resources here.
- 55:48[SPEAKER_08]: I still think that we needed a couple of bats, probably in this line up to really compete.
- 55:54[SPEAKER_08]: And we could probably use another arm.
- 55:56[SPEAKER_08]: I mean, there are certainly things that separate us from some of those other teams, you know, from the LAs.
- 56:01[SPEAKER_08]: We're worlds away.
- 56:02[SPEAKER_08]: And he's able to get a lot out of this team.
- 56:04[SPEAKER_08]: Nobody expected this team to be where they're at right now.
- 56:07[SPEAKER_08]: Now, as far as what his biggest decisions are going to be tonight, obviously the obvious one is what he's going to do with the pitching rotation, right?
- 56:14[SPEAKER_08]: And how he's going to manage that as this game unfolds.
- 56:19[SPEAKER_08]: But then, you know, I think it's going to come down to the pinch hitters because we have not
- 56:24[SPEAKER_08]: been hitting very well at all.
- 56:26[SPEAKER_08]: We've been over that and now you're going to have to create some kind of offense late in this game.
- 56:31[SPEAKER_08]: I think to put us over the top.
- 56:32[SPEAKER_08]: So what do you end up doing at the end of this game?
- 56:35[SPEAKER_08]: You know, the end up seeing a fry.
- 56:36[SPEAKER_08]: The end up, I mean, who is going to be that substitution?
- 56:39[SPEAKER_08]: Are we going to see that magical moment and is it going to be because he hits a button in there and brings in a pinch hitter?
- 56:45[SPEAKER_08]: So that'll be the managerial decision that will probably be criticizing tomorrow if it's not obviously the pitching.
- 56:52[SPEAKER_05]: I was going to say about Bobby real quick.
- 56:54[SPEAKER_05]: I do wonder if there's a chance that you just see him come out in the second inning because looking at Bobby versus the raise in his career.
- 57:01[SPEAKER_05]: Jonathan around us three for nine off of him, Jr. Kevin arrows four for 13 and Yani Diaz is six for 17.
- 57:08[SPEAKER_05]: So maybe, and again, it just is likely, probably is actually way more likely that it's Joey Kentillow who comes out of the bullpen after Armstrong.
- 57:14[SPEAKER_05]: I think maybe for the YS Tanner Bible not starting people that are freaking out out there, I wonder if that's why is because he has not had any success against the raise big guys.
- 57:23[SPEAKER_06]: Jack, give me your strongest reason for belief that the guardians are going to be back in the world series and your strongest reason for doubt.
- 57:30[SPEAKER_05]: strongest reason for belief is that every single time, really over the last two years, I think going back to a class in Ortiz and like that could have derailed the season where they ended up turning it around and making the playoffs, is the fact that they don't give up.
- 57:44[SPEAKER_05]: Like, like, whatever you want to say about the guardians, they can't hit.
- 57:47[SPEAKER_05]: They can't feel now apparently either.
- 57:50[SPEAKER_05]: They always they get a hundred and ten percent for as much as we make fun of the guard's ball Montrents stuff like they actually do go up there and every single one of those guys the gas meter is all the way up at all times So I think that because I can't sit here and and Gavin Williams is sitting there You know if you win tonight Gavin Williams is going in game seven and there's not a guy I trust more so I would say that the reason I wouldn't believe is they they can't hit for shit Simply Chris same thing to you man biggest reason for optimism biggest reason for doubt
- 58:19[SPEAKER_08]: biggest reason for optimism is Jose Ramirez.
- 58:22[SPEAKER_08]: I just keep going back to that.
- 58:23[SPEAKER_08]: He's our veteran.
- 58:25[SPEAKER_08]: I could definitely see him putting the team on his back once again and willing us to a couple of victories here because a couple of clutch hits from a guy like that all the sudden ignites the entire offense.
- 58:35[SPEAKER_08]: So despite the fact we haven't been hitting
- 58:39[SPEAKER_08]: notorious all season long have been able to do it by hooker by crook and once again we come to the playoffs with the same mentality and see the same thing ultimately I think Jose if he can get that back going for more than like Jensen was saying more than just singles maybe he hits one out gets everybody going like he did in the white socks series I think that could go a long way
- 58:58[SPEAKER_08]: And the reason to fade this team right now is obvious.
- 59:01[SPEAKER_08]: It's the offense.
- 59:02[SPEAKER_08]: It's the fact that we're not getting anything going right now.
- 59:05[SPEAKER_08]: It seems like boy, when we go into slumps, it is across the entire line up.
- 59:10[SPEAKER_08]: And so you could get into those dull drums where we only
- 59:13[SPEAKER_08]: knock out one or two hits in this game and you're sitting there in the sixth inning going what happened we're down three nothing again and it seems like man there is no hope and it's because we didn't do anything early we didn't get any hits we didn't manufacture we didn't look at enough pitches you know we didn't kind of do our homework early in the game and now that puts us behind the eight ball and all the sudden you need those heroes to come up so
- 59:35[SPEAKER_08]: We need to hit I mean that's that's that to me is the biggest thing and that's the thing that we've been talking about even the offseason into the year Where's the hitting it come from where's the hitting it come from the answer was guards ball you get to the playoffs The answer was hitting the ball out of the ballpark which we haven't done a whole lot of here recently So I think you got to get back to that tonight and then we've got a shot now.
- 59:56[SPEAKER_08]: I really do
- 59:57[SPEAKER_08]: I believe in this team.
- 59:58[SPEAKER_08]: I believe this team believes in themselves.
- 1:00:01[SPEAKER_08]: They're a young core.
- 1:00:02[SPEAKER_08]: And I think you just give them a little bit of momentum here against Tampa Bay.
- 1:00:07[SPEAKER_08]: I think all of a sudden this thing turns.
- 1:00:09[SPEAKER_06]: Chris, you said the word hero.
- 1:00:12[SPEAKER_06]: We asked Jensen Lewis if there a guy that's going to get it done.
- 1:00:14[SPEAKER_06]: I'm going to ask you guys the same thing who's going to be your unexpected.
- 1:00:18[SPEAKER_06]: Actually, I won't say unexpected.
- 1:00:19[SPEAKER_06]: Because if you say Jose Ramirez, I'm not going to fault you because odds are he'll be the one to get it done.
- 1:00:24[SPEAKER_06]: So if you want to roll with that, do it.
- 1:00:25[SPEAKER_06]: I'm putting no parameters on this your hero of game six that's going to be the guy.
- 1:00:29[SPEAKER_06]: The reason or at least one of them that we're playing for game seven.
- 1:00:35[SPEAKER_08]: I mean, you brought him up a little bit there, Jack, I've been waiting for that guy to do something here ever since this series has begun.
- 1:00:43[SPEAKER_08]: Rocktober, let's bring it back.
- 1:00:45[SPEAKER_08]: Let's get Rochio going.
- 1:00:46[SPEAKER_08]: Get the glove going first of all.
- 1:00:48[SPEAKER_08]: Once again, and then secondly, get some clutch hits.
- 1:00:51[SPEAKER_08]: Get this off and go in.
- 1:00:53[SPEAKER_08]: You know, I think you get a couple of key hits from a guy like Rochio.
- 1:00:57[SPEAKER_08]: We already talked about Ramirez at Nazium.
- 1:01:02[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, I mean, I think that Jose or Chase to Latter is definitely the smart pick here.
- 1:01:06[SPEAKER_05]: I'm going to go Stephen Cuando because I think he's the other guy who's not not that you want to be handing out.
- 1:01:11[SPEAKER_05]: Oh, this guy stinks to everyone right there.
- 1:01:13[SPEAKER_05]: It's your team.
- 1:01:14[SPEAKER_05]: You want them to win, but there's a lot of heat going on Joe Adele and Nathaniel low at the moment.
- 1:01:18[SPEAKER_05]: And I think Stephen Cuando hitting right about 200 in the playoffs leading off after.
- 1:01:22[SPEAKER_05]: having such a great second half and kind of turning his regular season around when there were people calling there were people saying outrageous things about Stephen Cuan like this may right comes back turns it around has a good year i'd love to see him get going like yeah that huge catch yesterday in the outfield maybe that's the moment when i think that was heading into the ninth inning would love to see him again like Chris talked about set the tone lead off the game get a single and i mean maybe it'd be really cool playoff home run that kind of thing right like he's like another guy who when he's going it's just easier for everyone else behind him to go
- 1:01:50[SPEAKER_08]: Well, one of the things I love about him too is it's never for a lack of effort, right?
- 1:01:54[SPEAKER_08]: You mentioned that huge catch that he had yesterday and ended up not going for anything because we didn't do anything offensively after that.
- 1:02:00[SPEAKER_08]: But that was a huge catch.
- 1:02:02[SPEAKER_08]: I mean, that was an amazing moment.
- 1:02:04[SPEAKER_08]: If we turn that game around, we're looking at that catch a whole lot differently than what we are right now.
- 1:02:09[SPEAKER_08]: Between that, the night before, you know, he gets a bloody lip.
- 1:02:12[SPEAKER_08]: you know, out there on the base pass.
- 1:02:13[SPEAKER_08]: So this is a guy who is working his butt off and even if he's not hitting the way that we want him to, he's always out there trying to make things happen on the base pass.
- 1:02:23[SPEAKER_08]: And I think that's really important for this team to be able to get that energy and get that early in this game.
- 1:02:29[SPEAKER_08]: If we can get him from the top of the lineup on base, then all of a sudden that really does put some more pressure on Tampa Bay, which back to what
- 1:02:40[SPEAKER_08]: just because they're up on us right now three two doesn't mean we're just going to roll over and it also doesn't mean that they're going to come out and just pound us.
- 1:02:49[SPEAKER_08]: I mean it is tough to close out a team.
- 1:02:52[SPEAKER_08]: And so if we can give them a little bit to think about early on in this game and Steven Quant a big part of that, then I think that changes things.
- 1:02:59[SPEAKER_06]: Well, gentlemen, I hope this isn't the last time that I get to ask you this.
- 1:03:02[SPEAKER_06]: Jack, this is geared towards you, Chris is optional.
- 1:03:04[SPEAKER_06]: And I feel about score predictions for our Cleveland Guardians.
- 1:03:07[SPEAKER_06]: Jack, Game Six winner in the score, and then, like I said, Chris doesn't have anything.
- 1:03:11[SPEAKER_06]: Take us home, Jack, and get us a Guardians win.
- 1:03:13[SPEAKER_06]: Gosh.
- 1:03:14[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, game six.
- 1:03:16[SPEAKER_05]: So Friday, Praltz is on the mountain right going up against Sean Armstrong.
- 1:03:19[SPEAKER_05]: Gonna say the guards get one in the top of the first and we all get pretty excited.
- 1:03:23[SPEAKER_05]: Like, okay, we needed it.
- 1:03:24[SPEAKER_05]: We needed it.
- 1:03:25[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.
- 1:03:25[SPEAKER_05]: Oh, is that okay?
- 1:03:27[SPEAKER_08]: Offensive explosion.
- 1:03:28[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.
- 1:03:29[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.
- 1:03:29[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.
- 1:03:29[SPEAKER_05]: A crooked number.
- 1:03:30[SPEAKER_05]: How about that?
- 1:03:31[SPEAKER_05]: And then bottom half.
- 1:03:33[SPEAKER_05]: third day in a row for Sean Armstrong doesn't have it let's say let's say you get out of it kind of like I think it was one of the Chicago games where a Spino didn't have it with the opener get out of it two runs down to one fast forward we don't get a hit for like five innings everyone's having the tweets out you've seen the thank you fans graphic on twitter like 19 times Joadel opposite field tie game the guy who everyone in the world has been asking for to do absolutely anything Joadel steps up gives it gives you that moment ties the game
- 1:04:01[SPEAKER_05]: Then we'll say he's been doing well on our dad.
- 1:04:04[SPEAKER_05]: This is going to rear his ugly hat he got and give up a run in like seven down three to two.
- 1:04:09[SPEAKER_05]: Then that's when you're going to get a Jose home run in the eighth four to three.
- 1:04:13[SPEAKER_05]: Cade comes out holds on.
- 1:04:16[SPEAKER_05]: We have a game to talk about tomorrow.
- 1:04:18[SPEAKER_05]: Wow.
- 1:04:18[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah for three final Chris.
- 1:04:20[SPEAKER_08]: I'm not going to talk about that.
- 1:04:21[SPEAKER_08]: That made me anxious.
- 1:04:22[SPEAKER_08]: That's like me watching the game.
- 1:04:24[SPEAKER_08]: Yeah, right.
- 1:04:25[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, like that.
- 1:04:25[SPEAKER_06]: We go in here.
- 1:04:26[SPEAKER_06]: I'm not going to get me to be no stradomist Chris, but any predictions on your own.
- 1:04:30[SPEAKER_08]: I'm going to give you a prediction.
- 1:04:32[SPEAKER_08]: I haven't been doing it this entire playoffs because I didn't want the baseball gods to hear me.
- 1:04:36[SPEAKER_08]: But I'm going to say the offense shows up tonight six two guardians get it done.
- 1:04:41[SPEAKER_05]: Heck yeah, I love it.
- 1:04:43[SPEAKER_05]: That's all of the time we have for today's episode of the Big Click Cleveland Show.
