- 0:15Speaker 1: Welcome to Patriots Unfiltered.
- 0:19Speaker 3: First edition of Patriots Unfiltered from our new studio. A
- 0:22Speaker 3: little bit more of a relaxed look thinks you know
- 0:24Speaker 3: that includes Matista.
- 0:25Speaker 4: Trying to imagine Paul getting mad in a couch. I
- 0:27Speaker 4: just can't see it. I need him to bang a table,
- 0:29Speaker 4: so may maybe we'll just give him a piece of
- 0:31Speaker 4: plyword so like he could just be uncomfortable not.
- 0:34Speaker 3: To just harp on the jets. But you can definitely
- 0:37Speaker 3: see that whole situation going south over there, you know,
- 0:40Speaker 3: with that nut that quarterback.
- 0:42Speaker 5: I haven't been that decided for a practice in a while.
- 0:45Speaker 6: Are you legally allowed within fifty years of aj Brown?
- 0:47Speaker 4: Or is that you still have to maintain?
- 0:49Speaker 3: Is there a possibility that in our field house you
- 0:52Speaker 3: could you could have some type of machine that could
- 0:56Speaker 3: mimic weather conditions and I mean extreme.
- 0:59Speaker 4: I don't know, it's it's like it's one of those
- 1:01Speaker 4: things like playing in the cold. I just see you
- 1:02Speaker 4: can either do it or you can't. I don't know.
- 1:04Speaker 3: If you can. I hate it ready, I have to admit.
- 1:06Speaker 3: Remember I broke every finger in one hand on a
- 1:10Speaker 3: cold day.
- 1:11Speaker 4: Like I can see why you don't like it.
- 1:13Speaker 3: Yeah, I hated it. I think it's a lot better
- 1:15Speaker 3: than it used to be. Like, you know, back when
- 1:16Speaker 3: I played it was we were barely out of leather helmets.
- 1:19Speaker 7: This is Patriots Unfiltered, presented by Toyota's official website for
- 1:24Speaker 7: deals by a Toyota dot com. All right, welcome the
- 1:29Speaker 7: Patriots Unfiltered. It is Thursday here at Jilles Stadium and
- 1:33Speaker 7: I started day two coming from our new studio. Not
- 1:36Speaker 7: exactly the way it's going to look next week tomorrow
- 1:39Speaker 7: we're bringing in the permanent furniture and making some tweaks
- 1:43Speaker 7: and you know, swapping some things out, but you're getting
- 1:46Speaker 7: a sense of what PU.
- 1:48Speaker 3: Was going to look like going forward. So very excited
- 1:51Speaker 3: about it. And Alex is with us. Yes, by for
- 1:54Speaker 3: what reason are we graced by your What accomplishment did
- 1:59Speaker 3: you have that you want to be on the talk about?
- 2:01Speaker 1: None?
- 2:01Speaker 8: And I had a pretty pretty.
- 2:06Speaker 9: I was followed Bryce around at the mass Amateur this week,
- 2:10Speaker 9: met the family. Oh shout out, mister Berenger. Is a
- 2:13Speaker 9: PU listener and a big Catch twenty two fan, so
- 2:17Speaker 9: we're gonna get him a T shirt and wanted to
- 2:19Speaker 9: give him a nice shout out today.
- 2:20Speaker 8: But yeah, great to be here.
- 2:22Speaker 9: I feel like I'm in like Plato's man cave with
- 2:24Speaker 9: like the stones on the wall, and yeah, good stuff is.
- 2:27Speaker 3: Here, Deuce is here, Matt's in the booth. Yeah Jordan
- 2:31Speaker 3: is back operating the cameras shout out Jordan's yeah, sure,
- 2:34Speaker 3: why not? Why not? So what do we got? I
- 2:36Speaker 3: have a couple of things I want to talk about.
- 2:38Speaker 4: Well, I got some things today too, But obviously we
- 2:40Speaker 4: don't have to get right into it, but I just
- 2:41Speaker 4: to tease it. We got the it's not Football Outsiders anymore,
- 2:45Speaker 4: but the new Dvoa Patriots thing. So I took some
- 2:48Speaker 4: nuggets conversation. So as we get in there.
- 2:51Speaker 3: That's some good stuff that's hard for So we'll wait
- 2:53Speaker 3: on that because if we start with that, we'll never
- 2:55Speaker 3: get out of it.
- 2:55Speaker 6: That's why I don't want to do it yet.
- 2:57Speaker 3: But I think, you know, when it comes to like
- 2:59Speaker 3: Patriots stuff that's out there, it's this whole hard knocks
- 3:02Speaker 3: with the Giants and Drake May you know, We're getting
- 3:06Speaker 3: a little shrapnel in a good way because it shows
- 3:09Speaker 3: probably that the Giants were interested in them. You know,
- 3:13Speaker 3: why else would they, you know, be talking to Elliott
- 3:15Speaker 3: about the three spot. You know, you knew Jaden Daniels
- 3:19Speaker 3: is going to go too so and then you know
- 3:21Speaker 3: his acumen was on display. So that was something that
- 3:26Speaker 3: I think Patriots fans are like, yes, see, we got
- 3:28Speaker 3: the guy, We got the guy. But then dovetailing from
- 3:32Speaker 3: that is there was kind of a debate on at
- 3:35Speaker 3: least my timeline, about do coaches and analysts make football
- 3:40Speaker 3: too complicated? Like is it really that complicated or is
- 3:44Speaker 3: it that they put all this jargon around the mic
- 3:50Speaker 3: and they make it complicated? So we talk about that.
- 3:54Speaker 4: Well, I mean, I guess just to kick off the show,
- 3:56Speaker 4: which I had watched the first episode, watched the second
- 3:58Speaker 4: episode yesterday, and I was just impressed with Drake. May
- 4:01Speaker 4: I mean again, you got a scouting report, you got
- 4:04Speaker 4: to see behind the scenes with Caleb Williams, with Jaden Daniels,
- 4:07Speaker 4: with Malik neighbors JJ McCarthy, So you got a kind
- 4:10Speaker 4: of a little cross section and just a little bit
- 4:12Speaker 4: that you saw on Drake.
- 4:14Speaker 6: It was like you said it was you know a
- 4:16Speaker 6: lot of recalling.
- 4:17Speaker 4: Brian Dable was grilling those guys, and you know, they'd
- 4:21Speaker 4: give him a whole play call and then they talked
- 4:22Speaker 4: to him about something else. They what's that play call again,
- 4:24Speaker 4: you know, and see if they can.
- 4:25Speaker 6: Spit it back out.
- 4:26Speaker 4: I just I thought Drake handled himself really well. I
- 4:29Speaker 4: don't really get like everyone drawing the comparisons, like, yes,
- 4:31Speaker 4: of course, like they might have been interested, but I
- 4:33Speaker 4: think a lot of people were, like clearly they loved
- 4:36Speaker 4: Drake May and they wanted Drake my by like maybabe.
- 4:38Speaker 4: I think they just wanted to know what the deal is.
- 4:40Speaker 5: But I think they just wanted a quarterback.
- 4:42Speaker 10: Yeah, they did Caleb, they did Jaden like they just
- 4:45Speaker 10: wanted a quarterback. And it just shows how much the
- 4:47Speaker 10: Patriots liked him because they the thing is, they.
- 4:49Speaker 3: Had a chance to take McCarthy didn't take him right.
- 4:52Speaker 3: So if they wanted a quarterback, they wanted a quarterback
- 4:56Speaker 3: and it probably was Drake May.
- 4:58Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 4:59Speaker 4: I mean some interesting takeaways though, of like when they
- 5:01Speaker 4: were talking about the scouting report on Jaden Daniels of
- 5:03Speaker 4: just like he's a leader, but he's not really vocal.
- 5:05Speaker 4: You know, he's quiet guy, which you know he kind
- 5:07Speaker 4: of comes off as but.
- 5:09Speaker 6: You know, I just I like Dable.
- 5:11Speaker 4: I mean, he's kind of got a Patriots background, so uh,
- 5:13Speaker 4: you know, his intensity in those meetings. It's always interesting.
- 5:17Speaker 3: To see how a guy performs under pressure, how quickly
- 5:21Speaker 3: he can process and and think, because that's that's what
- 5:25Speaker 3: being a quarterback in the NFL is all about. That's
- 5:27Speaker 3: the big difference.
- 5:28Speaker 4: So the one that cracked me up though, was I
- 5:30Speaker 4: felt like Dabel had the same reaction that I had
- 5:32Speaker 4: some Elik Neighbors that I don't know what show it was,
- 5:34Speaker 4: but at some point I was like, I just watched
- 5:36Speaker 4: what this Malik Naver's guy made. The joke I didn't
- 5:38Speaker 4: have to say, but I'm like, this Naver's guy really
- 5:40Speaker 4: like And that was what Dabele says. And the thing
- 5:41Speaker 4: He's like, man, I just spent the whole day watching
- 5:44Speaker 4: Malik Neighbors like that guy can play and good interview
- 5:47Speaker 4: with him. You know, it's direct questions like you know,
- 5:49Speaker 4: how do how do you feel if you don't get
- 5:51Speaker 4: the ball in the first you know half, and and
- 5:53Speaker 4: he's like, honestly, I'm not gonna be happy about it,
- 5:55Speaker 4: like we have a game plan. I want to you know,
- 5:56Speaker 4: I want targets, and you could tell that obviously they
- 5:59Speaker 4: were in with that. With that, he was, you know,
- 6:01Speaker 4: not trying to be like, oh, I'll just keep playing hard.
- 6:03Speaker 4: He didn't give him what he thought they might want
- 6:05Speaker 4: to hear.
- 6:05Speaker 3: He's I think what he said. They would have said, Okay,
- 6:07Speaker 3: that's a good answer. You know, they're not going to
- 6:09Speaker 3: make him look bad.
- 6:11Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 6:11Speaker 3: Yeah, so but you know, getting back to the complication,
- 6:15Speaker 3: like yeah, when they you know, read a Linda, you know, like,
- 6:18Speaker 3: what the hell does that make? It turns out read
- 6:20Speaker 3: is right, Linda's left. Yeah, you know, so like on
- 6:23Speaker 3: you learn what these things mean, it's like, oh, that's
- 6:25Speaker 3: not that.
- 6:26Speaker 4: Complic but it is learning another language, and like, well
- 6:28Speaker 4: that's the film.
- 6:29Speaker 9: Yeah, it's just this a lot of the same thing
- 6:31Speaker 9: with different terminology exactly exactly. And that's when most of
- 6:34Speaker 9: the guys come in when they're having their first like
- 6:36Speaker 9: media interviews, and they're like, what's it been like learning
- 6:39Speaker 9: the playlist so often you hear, well, you know, like
- 6:42Speaker 9: it's a lot of the same offense, but it's.
- 6:44Speaker 8: Called different stuff. So it's just like make some memory
- 6:47Speaker 8: flash cards, and.
- 6:48Speaker 10: I didn't watch the episode like the flo episode. I
- 6:49Speaker 10: saw the clips with Caleb Williams. Was he like, you
- 6:52Speaker 10: have one play, you can only run one play? Build
- 6:55Speaker 10: your plays. I like that.
- 6:57Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah, he's kind of like what a coach would say, too,
- 7:00Speaker 3: spread give me options if things break down, at least
- 7:04Speaker 3: he can run.
- 7:04Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 7:05Speaker 4: That was one of the questions into it, you know,
- 7:06Speaker 4: drow up your favorite play, me anything, what's your favorite play?
- 7:10Speaker 4: But those those questions are always so interesting. I mean,
- 7:13Speaker 4: just a quick aside, I've this guy moved into town,
- 7:16Speaker 4: into my town. It's someplace baseball with my son. Turns
- 7:19Speaker 4: out that this guy was used to work with the Eagles.
- 7:21Speaker 4: He worked with IMG Sports Academy down in Florida, did
- 7:25Speaker 4: a lot of work preparing players for the Combine, specifically
- 7:29Speaker 4: getting guys ready for the Wonder Lick Test where and
- 7:32Speaker 4: then this is he's a doctor. He's he's working at
- 7:34Speaker 4: BU now. But it's like, you know, I'm just talking
- 7:36Speaker 4: with his dad. He just came from working with the
- 7:38Speaker 4: Dodgers and U C l A in l A. And
- 7:40Speaker 4: all of a sudden I uncover this whole thing where
- 7:42Speaker 4: he I mean talk about like when we bring up
- 7:45Speaker 4: random players from the last decade, like he's got all
- 7:48Speaker 4: of them.
- 7:49Speaker 6: All of them talking to him now. So he got out.
- 7:51Speaker 4: Of the coaching aspect of it, and he's he's teaching
- 7:55Speaker 4: at BU.
- 7:55Speaker 3: But is this a potential guest for the show?
- 7:58Speaker 6: I'm huge, I mean, it is so interesting to talk
- 8:01Speaker 6: to him.
- 8:01Speaker 4: I mean, just here's a quick, quick story which some
- 8:04Speaker 4: Patriots fans will appreciate. And I'm sure you recall Fred
- 8:07Speaker 4: that Carlos Dunlap remember that he and everybody was.
- 8:09Speaker 3: Like, man, why did we.
- 8:11Speaker 4: Take Carlos Dunlop instead of Jermaine Cunning, Like we took
- 8:14Speaker 4: Jermaine Cunning. So the doc is telling me, he's like,
- 8:18Speaker 4: he is an.
- 8:19Speaker 6: Idiot, Like he is just like no, no.
- 8:24Speaker 4: Dunlop, the guy that everybody wanted and certainly had, But
- 8:27Speaker 4: he was just like, you know, just as an example
- 8:29Speaker 4: of a guy that you know they would work with
- 8:30Speaker 4: to get ready for the wonderlip test and and and
- 8:34Speaker 4: it was one of many players that I remember having
- 8:37Speaker 4: arguments with people over various times the Patriot should have
- 8:40Speaker 4: drafted this guy. And then you hear him like he
- 8:43Speaker 4: can barely tie his on shoes.
- 8:44Speaker 6: All he can do is go get the quarterback.
- 8:46Speaker 3: But those guys were from Florida. Yeah, and I remember
- 8:49Speaker 3: at the time, I thought even urban Meyer was surprised
- 8:52Speaker 3: that we took Jermaine Cunningham and that we didn't take
- 8:54Speaker 3: that well.
- 8:54Speaker 4: And Jermaine Coningham was was according to him, no no
- 8:58Speaker 4: scholar either.
- 8:59Speaker 3: But you know, it's just it's funny because you realize, brother,
- 9:01Speaker 3: he worked at best.
- 9:02Speaker 4: But how much goes on behind the scenes, like with
- 9:04Speaker 4: those interviews at the combine, and these guys have so
- 9:06Speaker 4: much going on, and it's easy to just look at
- 9:08Speaker 4: a player when we're kind of amateur scoutish and you know, look,
- 9:11Speaker 4: even if you look at his film, but you don't
- 9:12Speaker 4: really realize, like, this guy's going to get here in
- 9:14Speaker 4: that Belichick defense and his head is going to be spinning.
- 9:17Speaker 4: So I'm sorry to take it a kind of aside,
- 9:19Speaker 4: but it's been fascinating because he loves to talk, and
- 9:21Speaker 4: so every baseball practice it's just like story time. But
- 9:24Speaker 4: especially about the Wonder Lick where they talked about you
- 9:27Speaker 4: don't want to do too well because if you do
- 9:29Speaker 4: too well on the Wonder Lick, you come off as
- 9:31Speaker 4: somebody who's going to question everything. So you want to
- 9:33Speaker 4: be smart enough for smart enough but not too smart
- 9:37Speaker 4: to question it all. So you know, maybe maybe I'll
- 9:40Speaker 4: talk to him about coming in. What he's doing right
- 9:41Speaker 4: now though, is he's talking a lot about the disconnect
- 9:44Speaker 4: between guys like him who do sports specific training, injury
- 9:47Speaker 4: rehab things like that at a high level with regular
- 9:50Speaker 4: doctors who you know, you get amateur athletes who you know,
- 9:53Speaker 4: like you get an injury Alex playing soccer and you
- 9:55Speaker 4: go to your doctor. What do they know about soccer
- 9:58Speaker 4: specific rehab and how to get you back on track
- 10:01Speaker 4: if you you know, suffered an injury. So his kind
- 10:03Speaker 4: of passion now is is getting more into the connection
- 10:07Speaker 4: with doctors and athletic trainers and and the kind of position.
- 10:09Speaker 6: So interesting guy kind.
- 10:10Speaker 4: I'm sure I'll get some good nuggets over over the years.
- 10:12Speaker 4: But he knows, I mean, he knows.
- 10:14Speaker 3: If he's willing to talk. Yeah, you know, maybe without
- 10:16Speaker 3: naming names, we could get some cool stories.
- 10:20Speaker 8: Injury correspondent rights.
- 10:23Speaker 4: And he's been to I mean, he's just got story.
- 10:25Speaker 4: I mean another quick aside. Very close with Antonio Brown too,
- 10:30Speaker 4: and still well trying not to be because he's kind
- 10:35Speaker 4: of family, but you know, just is very connected over
- 10:38Speaker 4: the last ten years, and you know, it's just like
- 10:40Speaker 4: we had Taylor Price, like he'll bring him up, you know,
- 10:42Speaker 4: like all those kind of random players.
- 10:44Speaker 6: So it's been interesting.
- 10:45Speaker 4: But a little bit of I told him because he
- 10:48Speaker 4: tells me how much he loves preparing athletes for the
- 10:50Speaker 4: Combine and you know, getting guys ready and what a
- 10:52Speaker 4: passion it was.
- 10:52Speaker 6: And now you get to see behind the scenes.
- 10:54Speaker 4: Of those questions and what really goes on when they
- 10:56Speaker 4: get under the hood of all these you know, high
- 10:58Speaker 4: ranking players.
- 10:59Speaker 10: Another cool part of the show with the Combine was
- 11:01Speaker 10: it just it shows how casual some of the combos are.
- 11:04Speaker 10: Like they're in the Giants Suite, I do' on the
- 11:07Speaker 10: GM Joe Shane Shane and he's like, I just gotta
- 11:10Speaker 10: go talk to the Patriots real quick, and he just
- 11:12Speaker 10: like walks over. He's like, oh, can I just like
- 11:14Speaker 10: talk to you for a second. I'm like, it's like
- 11:15Speaker 10: that's all it takes, like just like knock on the door.
- 11:17Speaker 10: I felt like it would be a bit more formal,
- 11:19Speaker 10: but so like if you're thinking of anything, like just
- 11:21Speaker 10: just be sure.
- 11:22Speaker 3: To text us, Like, but isn't that kind of weird? Though,
- 11:24Speaker 3: so like you're Elliott Wolf and all of a sudden,
- 11:28Speaker 3: the GM for the Giants come over, but there's cameras, yes, conversation.
- 11:34Speaker 5: He's like like the players like, by the way, I'm.
- 11:35Speaker 8: Miked up, Like just they tell each other.
- 11:38Speaker 10: It's also just funny because like it shows but it
- 11:41Speaker 10: shows the Patriots from like across the field, and it
- 11:44Speaker 10: shows the Giants GM going in and then like all
- 11:47Speaker 10: the other Patriots coaches like, oh here he goes like
- 11:49Speaker 10: trying to.
- 11:52Speaker 6: But again, like so much of that stuff, like it
- 11:54Speaker 6: just relates, like when they're.
- 11:54Speaker 4: Talking about Saquon and like the value of running backs
- 11:57Speaker 4: now and finding out about Daniel Jones. Those is the
- 12:00Speaker 4: same stuff we talk about here. But they're like the
- 12:02Speaker 4: ones with the actual power and the money and you
- 12:04Speaker 4: know last night's episode there, you know they had the
- 12:07Speaker 4: cap number come out and.
- 12:09Speaker 6: You know, it's just it's the same kind of thing.
- 12:11Speaker 6: It's just funny.
- 12:11Speaker 4: It's like it makes you realize we kind of costplay
- 12:13Speaker 4: what they do, but like they're the ones who really
- 12:15Speaker 4: have to make the decision.
- 12:16Speaker 8: We have the monopoly money.
- 12:18Speaker 6: Yeah, Like they're the ones who.
- 12:18Speaker 4: Actually have to give the money out and decide, you know,
- 12:21Speaker 4: We're like, we'll just give him twenty million, you know,
- 12:23Speaker 4: well right right, yeah, So it's it's fun. I'm really
- 12:27Speaker 4: enjoying it. Like I think Hard Knocks has gotten stale
- 12:30Speaker 4: with training camp and you kind of get it, but
- 12:32Speaker 4: this is all behind the.
- 12:33Speaker 3: Scenes are going.
- 12:34Speaker 10: Yeah, I'm very psyched training because they're doing a division
- 12:37Speaker 10: this year too, so they're doing an in season team
- 12:39Speaker 10: or is it no in season team, it's just a division,
- 12:42Speaker 10: So I think that's it, Like that would be cool,
- 12:44Speaker 10: just so you're not focused on one team.
- 12:45Speaker 2: Though.
- 12:45Speaker 4: The training camp just got repetitive, and it's the same
- 12:48Speaker 4: kind of thing. It's guys you don't really know, trying
- 12:50Speaker 4: to make the team and cut.
- 12:51Speaker 10: Also, it's like especially work here, it's kind of it's
- 12:54Speaker 10: not the sexiest practice ever. The you go to HBO
- 12:56Speaker 10: and it's like boom, hard hitting. I'm like this, yeah, yeah,
- 13:00Speaker 10: I know the nope, it's you're handing off to a
- 13:03Speaker 10: running back and he's running sixty yards because they're not
- 13:05Speaker 10: allowed to tackle.
- 13:05Speaker 6: Yeah, right, that was cool.
- 13:07Speaker 4: They went to Elmos though in that in that episode,
- 13:09Speaker 4: and it was like, it's.
- 13:10Speaker 6: Just cool because I remember to watch this stuff.
- 13:11Speaker 4: I just am you know, grateful that I do what
- 13:13Speaker 4: I do, and then I'm you know, kind of in
- 13:14Speaker 4: the mix of that stuff, and I'm like looking for
- 13:18Speaker 4: myself and the thing, you know, like it's uh, it's
- 13:20Speaker 4: just it's it's it's cool. I really like the behind
- 13:23Speaker 4: the scenes, especially with a team like that, where it
- 13:25Speaker 4: feels like they're a little bit at a crossroads and
- 13:28Speaker 4: you know, you can feel that underlying tension of you know,
- 13:31Speaker 4: what is this year three? I think for them like
- 13:32Speaker 4: it's all right, you had a good first year, last
- 13:34Speaker 4: year was it down year? And now you got to
- 13:37Speaker 4: figure it out a You're gonna hitch all your wagons
- 13:38Speaker 4: to this guy Daniel Jones, who, as they point out,
- 13:41Speaker 4: had three significant injuries in the last two years. So
- 13:44Speaker 4: it's you know, it's it's it's interesting.
- 13:45Speaker 3: I like it.
- 13:46Speaker 4: I think it's good that they're switching it up.
- 13:48Speaker 3: Some other NFL news I don't know who it was,
- 13:52Speaker 3: but they came out with the list of the top
- 13:54Speaker 3: ten running backs in the NFL and Ramandre Stevenson wasn't
- 13:58Speaker 3: on it. So one of the stations, I think it
- 14:01Speaker 3: was all stations stas. Yeah, so they were like, oh,
- 14:06Speaker 3: that's a snub. You should be on it. Then they
- 14:07Speaker 3: went down the list and it's like, well, who are
- 14:09Speaker 3: you going to kick off of this list? Right? All
- 14:11Speaker 3: really good running backs?
- 14:12Speaker 4: Yeah, you know, and his contract was like paid him
- 14:14Speaker 4: as what the ninth or tenth Yeah, yeah, the.
- 14:17Speaker 3: Customer and he but he make honorable mention.
- 14:21Speaker 4: But I mean how many games he played last year
- 14:23Speaker 4: he was injured?
- 14:25Speaker 3: Well, they had like Derrick Henry in the top ten,
- 14:27Speaker 3: you know, well I know, but like so yeah, but yeah,
- 14:33Speaker 3: so I thought that was interesting.
- 14:35Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 14:35Speaker 4: I think it's it's a big year for Remander. I
- 14:38Speaker 4: mean it's you know, he's gonna be a focal point.
- 14:40Speaker 4: And I think everybody's hoping them, you know, be able
- 14:42Speaker 4: to get back into No, just didn't. I mean, we
- 14:44Speaker 4: can slowly dip it into the football, the dvo A stuff,
- 14:47Speaker 4: but that's a big part of you know, Elis.
- 14:49Speaker 3: But we are we are less than two weeks away
- 14:52Speaker 3: from the first public.
- 14:53Speaker 4: Their training camp. Yeah crazy, yeah, just like that.
- 14:57Speaker 3: Where does time go?
- 14:58Speaker 8: His top season, flew By especially had so much going on.
- 15:01Speaker 8: They didn't have one. Yeah for last week.
- 15:03Speaker 4: I feel like the last like three weeks, I've been
- 15:05Speaker 4: taking little pockets, you know, like I'll come out like
- 15:07Speaker 4: I do you know Tuesday, stiusly we had the show,
- 15:09Speaker 4: but like, I'll take it Friday, and you know, so
- 15:11Speaker 4: I feel like I've done a good job post Brady
- 15:13Speaker 4: Knight to like recharge the batteries, get out, you know,
- 15:16Speaker 4: break it up a little bit. But I don't know
- 15:18Speaker 4: with watching Hard Knocks and we'll starting to ramp up.
- 15:21Speaker 10: Also, yeah, I didn't watch it, but the Receiver show
- 15:24Speaker 10: came out started yesterday too, which I don't know if
- 15:26Speaker 10: I'm gonna watch because it's.
- 15:27Speaker 5: It's a bunch of what ifs. I watched the Boys Jefferson, like,
- 15:32Speaker 5: oh what could have been?
- 15:33Speaker 3: But you mentioned Brady. That reminded me the guy behind you,
- 15:37Speaker 3: Richard Seymour. There's rumors that he's looking to team up
- 15:42Speaker 3: with him in his ownership bid for the Raiders.
- 15:44Speaker 4: Yeah, which might take some of the sticking points with
- 15:46Speaker 4: Brady out of it. So yeah, I don't know, maybe
- 15:48Speaker 4: a Brady Night when we had the.
- 15:50Speaker 3: H Why do you say it takes some of the
- 15:52Speaker 3: sticking points. I don't know.
- 15:52Speaker 4: That was what PFT said, that the NFL might be
- 15:55Speaker 4: a little bit more amenable to I mean, I know
- 15:57Speaker 4: there were multiple issues with what the deal was going
- 15:59Speaker 4: to be with the Raid that it was kind of
- 16:00Speaker 4: a sweetheart deal and it was all going to be Brady.
- 16:02Speaker 4: But from what PFT said that with two guys involved,
- 16:06Speaker 4: that it might.
- 16:07Speaker 3: Make it work. But I thought that the sticking point
- 16:09Speaker 3: was the price that they were undercutting. It's so much
- 16:11Speaker 3: devaluing what his share would be worth that other owners
- 16:15Speaker 3: are like that, you can't do that.
- 16:17Speaker 6: Well, maybe they up the price and then it's two guys.
- 16:19Speaker 3: Guys, you know.
- 16:20Speaker 4: Maybe they didn't get into specifics as to why.
- 16:24Speaker 9: But I guess the other thing is it wouldn't just
- 16:26Speaker 9: be Brady alone though, would he would have like a
- 16:28Speaker 9: bunch of investors in it.
- 16:29Speaker 3: Well, he's not going to be You just have a
- 16:32Speaker 3: small right too much money.
- 16:33Speaker 9: I don't even know, but it's like I know, right,
- 16:35Speaker 9: I was looking at like what the Celtics are going
- 16:37Speaker 9: to probably go for, but you should just do that
- 16:39Speaker 9: and avoid all the conflict.
- 16:40Speaker 3: The problem is like, even if he only has one percent,
- 16:43Speaker 3: what should that one percent be worth? And the Raiders
- 16:48Speaker 3: made it like so cheap that they're like, okay, well
- 16:51Speaker 3: if you multiply now that one percent, you know, ninety
- 16:55Speaker 3: nine to get to one hundred, our value of our
- 16:58Speaker 3: team is too low and other owners were like, so
- 17:01Speaker 3: you can't do that, you.
- 17:02Speaker 10: Know, but what value does I'm confused why you're different
- 17:06Speaker 10: the team you didn't play?
- 17:08Speaker 3: Pay him what?
- 17:08Speaker 5: Why would you want to own part of a team
- 17:10Speaker 5: you didn't play for?
- 17:11Speaker 3: The whole thing is not well, doesn't he owns part
- 17:13Speaker 3: of an w n B A team.
- 17:16Speaker 10: But it's not like Vegas the cool play at least
- 17:19Speaker 10: be funny and like try to buy some of the
- 17:21Speaker 10: Jets are like the Bills.
- 17:22Speaker 3: Or something because it's in Vegas.
- 17:27Speaker 5: But it's just kind of weird.
- 17:29Speaker 4: I think you get the juice still, I mean you
- 17:30Speaker 4: think a little competitive juice, Like I mean as much
- 17:33Speaker 4: as I am a Patriot except the Raiders playing.
- 17:39Speaker 3: Remember, like even when the Brady was playing for the Patriots,
- 17:43Speaker 3: still wasn't there talks of him looking for a house
- 17:46Speaker 3: in Vegas, Like he and Giselle were looking for a
- 17:49Speaker 3: place in Vegas. And maybe that was, you know, because
- 17:51Speaker 3: he knew he was going to get into w n
- 17:53Speaker 3: B A and all that, and he's going to be
- 17:55Speaker 3: spending more time there after he retires. Maybe I don't know.
- 17:59Speaker 4: It seems like he pretty easy for him to find
- 18:01Speaker 4: a house in yes too, you know, like, oh, I know,
- 18:03Speaker 4: but yeah, I don't know. I mean maybe I could
- 18:07Speaker 4: never live there. I've never lived.
- 18:09Speaker 3: But the other thing with Brady being an owner is okay,
- 18:11Speaker 3: so now if you're going to be one hundred, you
- 18:14Speaker 3: know in with Fox, Like, how credible are you going
- 18:19Speaker 3: to be when you're calling a game with the Raiders
- 18:22Speaker 3: or do you does Fox say you can't call games
- 18:26Speaker 3: where the Raiders are involved? You know, but even if
- 18:28Speaker 3: you're calling a game with the Chargers or the Chiefs
- 18:32Speaker 3: team in the same division, Like, what's that like? So
- 18:34Speaker 3: it's weird, Like I don't think we've ever had an
- 18:38Speaker 3: announcer who's also at owner.
- 18:40Speaker 10: I'm also very intrigued to see what he's going to
- 18:42Speaker 10: be like calling calling games.
- 18:44Speaker 5: I never thought that was going to be his calling.
- 18:46Speaker 3: I thought it would be like a g I never
- 18:47Speaker 3: thought he'd go through with it, Like honestly, I thought
- 18:50Speaker 3: something would happen, you know, it would be a very
- 18:53Speaker 3: good reason why he wouldn't do it.
- 18:55Speaker 8: I just don't know why he would want to.
- 18:56Speaker 5: It's just it's I don't know, it's fill.
- 18:59Speaker 9: Yeah, but it's such a he can make three hundred
- 19:01Speaker 9: and fifty million in a million different ways.
- 19:03Speaker 4: Why's so much rather just be a partial owner of
- 19:05Speaker 4: a team and just kind of travel around and watch
- 19:07Speaker 4: that team.
- 19:08Speaker 6: I thought they brace that.
- 19:09Speaker 3: But but you don't get the money. You don't get the
- 19:11Speaker 3: money until you sell your share, you know. So it's
- 19:13Speaker 3: just you know, but if you.
- 19:15Speaker 4: Just invested in, would imagine he's got other things, And
- 19:17Speaker 4: I like, I don't know. For me at that point,
- 19:19Speaker 4: I wouldn't be about money. Maybe I think, I don't know,
- 19:22Speaker 4: I don't know what it's like.
- 19:23Speaker 9: Well, it seems like he's valuing his time with like
- 19:25Speaker 9: his family, and I wouldn't be getting into broadcasting.
- 19:28Speaker 2: Yeah, it was.
- 19:30Speaker 5: Always like it's Tony Romo or like Kurt Warn't.
- 19:32Speaker 10: Like I don't know, it's just like there was a
- 19:34Speaker 10: certain level player and he's like the greatest of all time.
- 19:36Speaker 5: I feel he's yes, exactly like you.
- 19:39Speaker 3: Well, Montana tried it and he was terrible. Yeah, and
- 19:42Speaker 3: at that time Montana was the greatest quarterback at that time,
- 19:47Speaker 3: and he was just terrible at it. He was terrible
- 19:49Speaker 3: in the studio.
- 19:49Speaker 6: He was Why why was he terrible?
- 19:51Speaker 3: Was this was just so vanilla, like he didn't add
- 19:53Speaker 3: anything and he had no emotion and he just wasn't good.
- 19:57Speaker 3: And that's why people love Romo at first, because he
- 20:00Speaker 3: came into it with a lot of enthusiasm and passion,
- 20:04Speaker 3: you know, and he could tell that he really enjoyed
- 20:06Speaker 3: it the same way Madden did. You know, Madden wasn't
- 20:10Speaker 3: that great, but he had to you know, he did
- 20:12Speaker 3: it in a different way. He did it in his
- 20:14Speaker 3: own way. It was unique and you could tell he
- 20:17Speaker 3: loved it. He wasn't just you know, the robot from
- 20:20Speaker 3: Syracuse that you know did it the same way that
- 20:23Speaker 3: everybody else did. He had his own unique style of
- 20:26Speaker 3: doing it, just like Romo did. Well, Brady, I don't know, at.
- 20:30Speaker 10: Least he'll get the good He's not going to get
- 20:31Speaker 10: like one PM Browns versus Jets, like he's going to
- 20:34Speaker 10: get all the primetime games.
- 20:35Speaker 5: So maybe people be.
- 20:37Speaker 3: Just so, what's happening with Olsen is he's so I
- 20:42Speaker 3: thought he was a free I thought like he was
- 20:44Speaker 3: available to go to somewhere else.
- 20:45Speaker 10: No, I think next year, next year, But he bumped
- 20:48Speaker 10: down the number two. Yeah, I know, like, which is
- 20:51Speaker 10: crazy because he's one of the better. He's really good.
- 20:53Speaker 3: Well that's the other again, the fresh face, new voice
- 20:56Speaker 3: everybody's like, Okay, now he's the best.
- 20:58Speaker 4: He was, well, he was my favorite, Yeah for sure.
- 21:00Speaker 4: I mean he had that initial kind of Tony Romo
- 21:02Speaker 4: explosion last year, I would.
- 21:04Speaker 10: Say, and it's it's tough because now Al Michael is
- 21:06Speaker 10: on the Thursday game and it's they've all been duds.
- 21:08Speaker 5: Anywow.
- 21:10Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm curious so far because I think about what
- 21:12Speaker 4: you always used to say about Troy Brown, where it's
- 21:14Speaker 4: like for certain guys who just comes naturally to how
- 21:16Speaker 4: do they, I guess, in this case, observe and report
- 21:20Speaker 4: upon other players trying to do what they did. You know,
- 21:23Speaker 4: what's his angle going to be like there? And I mean,
- 21:25Speaker 4: I'm sure he's been watching enough football now that he's
- 21:27Speaker 4: kind of out of that player mindset and watching it
- 21:30Speaker 4: competitively and watching it more as an analyst. But we're
- 21:34Speaker 4: very curious how.
- 21:35Speaker 3: Romost thing when he first started besides the you know,
- 21:37Speaker 3: the the emotion, his thing was calling the play before, Yeah,
- 21:42Speaker 3: that was his kind of hit it.
- 21:45Speaker 5: But now he's whipping all the time.
- 21:46Speaker 3: But I think they told him to like ease up
- 21:49Speaker 3: on that because you know people are going to start
- 21:52Speaker 3: keeping score and you know you don't want that to
- 21:55Speaker 3: be a distraction. Was Tony right or wrong.
- 21:57Speaker 4: It wouldn't be. I don't know if it'd be great TV,
- 22:00Speaker 4: but I think what will be interesting to me would
- 22:01Speaker 4: be to hear Brady just spit out what he sees
- 22:05Speaker 4: when the quarterback comes.
- 22:06Speaker 3: From Well, that's the thing, that's what you want, like, okay,
- 22:09Speaker 3: just lay it out for me, right, so you know
- 22:13Speaker 3: from the booths here at the many emotions they're going
- 22:17Speaker 3: to be in cover two here.
- 22:19Speaker 11: Zero outslot right, three thirty five based throwback hip player.
- 22:23Speaker 3: There you go. So what are you seeing as a quarterback?
- 22:26Speaker 3: What should have happened on that play as opposed to
- 22:29Speaker 3: what did happen?
- 22:30Speaker 4: Because that was so much of what Josh told us
- 22:31Speaker 4: of Yeah that pre snap.
- 22:34Speaker 6: I mean he deciphered the whole thing.
- 22:35Speaker 4: He knows exactly where he's going with the ball ninety
- 22:37Speaker 4: nine percent of the time after that point. So you know,
- 22:40Speaker 4: for him to be able to kind of it just
- 22:41Speaker 4: it wouldn't work every single time that he did it,
- 22:43Speaker 4: but a couple of times it would be interesting just
- 22:45Speaker 4: to hear his processor fire out loud, just what what
- 22:49Speaker 4: do you see? Because I'm sure it would just be
- 22:52Speaker 4: an avalanche of observation.
- 22:53Speaker 3: How critical will he be? That's the other thing, Like
- 22:56Speaker 3: when a guy screws up, is he gotta call him out?
- 22:58Speaker 5: Is watching Zach Wilson play?
- 23:00Speaker 9: Right?
- 23:00Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 23:01Speaker 3: I think or as an owner of a team, I
- 23:03Speaker 3: might have that guy on my team some day, so
- 23:04Speaker 3: I can't be too critical.
- 23:05Speaker 4: Yeah, well see, and I'd love to hear like see
- 23:07Speaker 4: if that if he did that with me, he wouldn't
- 23:09Speaker 4: getting ball the rest of the game, you know, like
- 23:10Speaker 4: things that we know, but me.
- 23:13Speaker 10: I think, I think will be really cool. They're not
- 23:15Speaker 10: going to do obviously Manning cast, but do Brady and Manning.
- 23:17Speaker 10: That would be like just let them go. That's what
- 23:19Speaker 10: makes like, That's why I sometimes like watching the Manning
- 23:21Speaker 10: cast more because if a quarterback messes up, Manning freaks out,
- 23:24Speaker 10: says why he messed up, and says what he would
- 23:27Speaker 10: have done?
- 23:28Speaker 3: So big big year for Tom Brady.
- 23:31Speaker 4: Yeah, and then I guess else you said that. The
- 23:33Speaker 4: Belichick news just broke to that he's going to be
- 23:35Speaker 4: on inside the NFL.
- 23:36Speaker 3: Okay, so what station is that on these days?
- 23:38Speaker 4: I think I'm gonna look because.
- 23:39Speaker 12: We just got the is that the the c W
- 23:43Speaker 12: c W the kids R C ws the kids, right,
- 23:47Speaker 12: you know, he's got the demo for the twenty somethings there.
- 23:50Speaker 3: So he and that's on once a week. It's an
- 23:53Speaker 3: hour show. Yeah yeah, and he's going to be a
- 23:56Speaker 3: regular guest, a regular host, as the c W Network.
- 24:02Speaker 4: Today announced, the most successful coach in NFL history and
- 24:04Speaker 4: eight times Super Bowl champion Bill Belichick will join the
- 24:07Speaker 4: Emmy Award winning Inside the NFL for a second season
- 24:09Speaker 4: on the c W. Will sit alongside Ryan Clark, Chad Johnson, uh,
- 24:15Speaker 4: and Chris Long.
- 24:16Speaker 6: That's a pretty good group. Two of those guys.
- 24:19Speaker 3: John Steelers said he had the back and forth with No.
- 24:23Speaker 4: No, that was another that was another Steeler safety.
- 24:25Speaker 2: You're right.
- 24:25Speaker 6: I mean they did play a lot and that was
- 24:27Speaker 6: another Shmow guy.
- 24:28Speaker 4: It was a shmo you're talking about two thousand and
- 24:31Speaker 4: gotten the guy's space. Yeah, yeah, that was a different
- 24:34Speaker 4: I think it was like Smith something Smith.
- 24:36Speaker 5: I know, you're talking torched him.
- 24:38Speaker 4: Yeah, it was.
- 24:39Speaker 6: It was another Steelers safety.
- 24:41Speaker 4: But he you know, coach Chad Johnson, they've got kind
- 24:44Speaker 4: of and Chris Long.
- 24:47Speaker 3: Yeah. Notice they said the most successful coach, not the greatest.
- 24:52Speaker 3: I wonder like who chose those words? There's no doubt
- 24:55Speaker 3: he's the most successful.
- 24:56Speaker 10: Right, So Belichick's not coaching the US men's soccer team.
- 25:00Speaker 10: My pipe treatment they fired.
- 25:02Speaker 4: I think that it would have been great, and the
- 25:04Speaker 4: Paul would have been like, well, I mean, was a coordinator,
- 25:09Speaker 4: doesn't count, it's your boat name.
- 25:12Speaker 3: So he's keeping busy.
- 25:14Speaker 5: Yeah, very busy, to say the least.
- 25:17Speaker 3: Although I found I hear that he's finding out that
- 25:19Speaker 3: there's more to life than just football.
- 25:22Speaker 4: So I saw that clip from Greg Hill yesterday where
- 25:24Speaker 4: like Courtney Cox seems convinced that like, Yep, that's it, Yep,
- 25:27Speaker 4: he's gonna he's found a new perspective on life without
- 25:30Speaker 4: right now, that this this new flame has made him
- 25:32Speaker 4: reevaluate everything and there's.
- 25:34Speaker 6: More to life than football.
- 25:36Speaker 10: I'm like, he comes back, so he starts paying people
- 25:38Speaker 10: and signs all these free agents.
- 25:40Speaker 3: Well, do you think that he'll coach next year?
- 25:44Speaker 4: Yes, you do.
- 25:45Speaker 5: I think so too. I think there's a couple.
- 25:47Speaker 3: I still think he wants to, but I think now
- 25:51Speaker 3: there's a less chance, a little bit less chance than
- 25:55Speaker 3: it was three months ago.
- 25:58Speaker 6: Yeah, a little bit.
- 26:00Speaker 4: I just I still think there's gonna be a desperate
- 26:01Speaker 4: team that just says this changes.
- 26:03Speaker 3: Are they got to be close?
- 26:05Speaker 13: Like I feel like if the Cowboys have seems like
- 26:10Speaker 13: he's on or I don't know, but I mean even like,
- 26:13Speaker 13: I mean, how much the Bill want to go to
- 26:15Speaker 13: the Falcons.
- 26:16Speaker 6: It seemed like that was about to happen. And are
- 26:18Speaker 6: they close?
- 26:20Speaker 4: I don't know. I mean, I just wonder if it's
- 26:24Speaker 4: not necessarily about close for him, it's about the situation
- 26:27Speaker 4: of who it is, Like I don't.
- 26:29Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying.
- 26:30Speaker 9: It's just the love of the game. He would coach anyone, Yeah,
- 26:33Speaker 9: I think so.
- 26:33Speaker 4: I think so. But I think a team like I mean,
- 26:36Speaker 4: Washington made a lot of sense to me initially just
- 26:38Speaker 4: because it would change their whole kind of narrative and
- 26:42Speaker 4: all of a sudden, it just alters their franchise by
- 26:45Speaker 4: bringing in that coach.
- 26:46Speaker 3: Well, I think I think wherever he goes, he's going
- 26:48Speaker 3: to have to make it clear that I'm willing to
- 26:51Speaker 3: work within the structure that you have and I'm not
- 26:54Speaker 3: gonna turn over everything and redo everything, because that's that's
- 26:58Speaker 3: a lot and sometimes that actually sets your program back
- 27:02Speaker 3: a year or two. So if you know that he's
- 27:05Speaker 3: not going to be there for a long time. You
- 27:08Speaker 3: probably want that agreement that it's going to be plug
- 27:10Speaker 3: and play.
- 27:10Speaker 4: That's the first conversation with him is just, look, we
- 27:13Speaker 4: know you don't have a lot of time. How do
- 27:14Speaker 4: we get this done and how do we become the
- 27:16Speaker 4: contenders in two years?
- 27:17Speaker 2: Like that?
- 27:18Speaker 4: And then you ride it out two, three, four, as
- 27:20Speaker 4: long as it's able to maintain it. But you can't say,
- 27:23Speaker 4: here's my five year plan. He's gonna be like in
- 27:25Speaker 4: his eighties.
- 27:25Speaker 10: Spence, why the like, I think the Cowboys might be
- 27:28Speaker 10: a perfect fit, depending I don't know.
- 27:29Speaker 5: A Dak's situation.
- 27:30Speaker 10: Oh yeah, that would be perfect. I just don't know
- 27:32Speaker 10: how Jerry and Bill work. But if they both are
- 27:35Speaker 10: like at first, Parcels.
- 27:37Speaker 3: Is a good litmus test for that. He came down
- 27:40Speaker 3: for a couple of years. It was fine, But that's
- 27:43Speaker 3: the key. It's only going to be for a few years.
- 27:45Speaker 10: Yeah, you know, so it's like two years or you
- 27:48Speaker 10: go all kind of do what the Rams did a
- 27:50Speaker 10: couple of years ago, like let's go all in, and.
- 27:52Speaker 6: I mean they were talking about it.
- 27:54Speaker 4: Bill on a lot of was fourteen games away, like
- 27:57Speaker 4: fourteen games later.
- 27:58Speaker 5: I know you could get that clock.
- 28:01Speaker 6: I mean it's it's he's got but if you kind
- 28:03Speaker 6: of like you have.
- 28:04Speaker 8: A decent team two seasons.
- 28:05Speaker 3: Yeah, but if you just do it that way and
- 28:07Speaker 3: you win seven games a year, isn't that kind of
- 28:09Speaker 3: like forcing the record? It's kind of like a phony record.
- 28:12Speaker 5: I went out, I remember, and.
- 28:15Speaker 10: They wanted to keep the starts going, like, oh, maybe
- 28:17Speaker 10: he'll just go and take a knee. It's like this,
- 28:19Speaker 10: is that the same thing.
- 28:20Speaker 3: Cares about that record? I really don't I and I
- 28:22Speaker 3: hope he doesn't either.
- 28:23Speaker 4: Now you know, it's I don't know, but like he
- 28:26Speaker 4: just he did so many amazing, amazing accomplishments, Like if
- 28:29Speaker 4: you want to kind of limp to the end and
- 28:30Speaker 4: just get those last fourteens, somehow I'm kind of going,
- 28:33Speaker 4: I think.
- 28:33Speaker 3: It diminishes it. But anyway, all right, eight five five
- 28:37Speaker 3: pass five hundred is the ACE ticket hotline. Web radio
- 28:39Speaker 3: at Patriots dot com is the email address. Let's go
- 28:43Speaker 3: to Christian in l A. But who's in Italy?
- 28:47Speaker 6: Journal?
- 28:48Speaker 3: What's up? Christian child?
- 28:52Speaker 14: Guy?
- 28:54Speaker 2: So?
- 28:55Speaker 3: Why why are you in Italy calling this show?
- 28:59Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 28:59Speaker 14: It's like, well in Italy for a wedding in a
- 29:04Speaker 14: town called Parma, and I'm standing there and there's people
- 29:09Speaker 14: walking up to me in jerseys. And it turns out
- 29:12Speaker 14: because I got there the day after the Parma Panthers
- 29:16Speaker 14: won their their championship football game, and it turns out
- 29:22Speaker 14: the quarterback of the Parma Panthers and his mother are
- 29:25Speaker 14: New England Patriots fans. Wow, it was really crazy to
- 29:31Speaker 14: talk football with people from another country.
- 29:33Speaker 3: And did you tell them that you're Christian from l A?
- 29:37Speaker 14: Yes, I did, and they they listened to your show
- 29:40Speaker 14: and they had heard me speak before. It was like, whoa,
- 29:43Speaker 14: that's you?
- 29:44Speaker 5: All right, you're lying.
- 29:47Speaker 8: I need video, evidently I am.
- 29:51Speaker 14: I am still in Italy. So here's my my my
- 29:53Speaker 14: football thing though. It's a game for you guys. And
- 29:57Speaker 14: you name the last three pick that we made, where
- 30:02Speaker 14: the pick after became a stuper star named the player
- 30:07Speaker 14: that we picked, and the player after that became the superstar.
- 30:11Speaker 3: That's subjective.
- 30:12Speaker 14: And on Brady and Manny. If Brady and Manning did
- 30:16Speaker 14: a telecap together, who would be the who would be
- 30:18Speaker 14: the play by play guy, and who would be the
- 30:20Speaker 14: color commentator, I'll take it off air and I'll be
- 30:23Speaker 14: back in America.
- 30:24Speaker 3: Okay, all right, thank you. Keep spreading the Patriots man gospel.
- 30:29Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 30:29Speaker 3: I don't know, and he.
- 30:30Speaker 4: Left before he gave us the I can think of
- 30:32Speaker 4: was didn't they trade out of the spot and then
- 30:34Speaker 4: justin Jefferson Wentz traded ahead of us, traded ahead of us. Okay,
- 30:38Speaker 4: so they they couldn't have had I don't know that, Sony,
- 30:43Speaker 4: I gotta be.
- 30:45Speaker 8: Harry.
- 30:46Speaker 5: I know.
- 30:46Speaker 6: Well, that's but it's not right after him even.
- 30:48Speaker 8: To like, yeah, couldn't anyone was.
- 30:50Speaker 6: After his win?
- 30:52Speaker 5: Lamar Jackson, that's one, right, that's one that sounds right.
- 30:56Speaker 5: I think so right.
- 30:58Speaker 3: I would consider Lamar Jackson a super.
- 31:00Speaker 4: Yeah, I'd have to consult, but it's too miserable and
- 31:04Speaker 4: I'm in a positive Patriots state of mind, so don't
- 31:06Speaker 4: take me down.
- 31:06Speaker 5: Christian.
- 31:06Speaker 10: The trades from Cole Strange to the A couple of
- 31:09Speaker 10: good picks from those eight drop backs.
- 31:11Speaker 4: By the way, he went to a we like, that's
- 31:13Speaker 4: a pretty big flex wedding in Italy.
- 31:15Speaker 9: Everyone is having their wedding in Italy the last two summers.
- 31:18Speaker 8: Everyone's in Italy. Everyone, all the people on.
- 31:21Speaker 15: Instagram, the influencers in Italy.
- 31:29Speaker 4: Yeah, that's what it is, Like, I could really drive
- 31:31Speaker 4: to the cake for a wedding and like fight Italy.
- 31:33Speaker 8: Oh you should see wedding culture and now it's out of.
- 31:36Speaker 3: Control crazy the Bachelor parties declaring it, Greg says, I
- 31:39Speaker 3: look like a little kid in this chair.
- 31:41Speaker 8: The chairs are comfy.
- 31:41Speaker 2: I hope.
- 31:42Speaker 3: Why am I the only one that's sunk down because
- 31:46Speaker 3: I'm fat? I don't know.
- 31:47Speaker 4: You gotta like, you know, suit up bigger, so.
- 31:51Speaker 3: I'll have to put like wood underneath my cushions.
- 31:53Speaker 10: Sorry, we'll get commentator for Brady. Who would Brady and Manning?
- 31:57Speaker 3: I think I think Manning is the play by play
- 31:59Speaker 3: and Brady's the color Yeah.
- 32:01Speaker 5: I think I do.
- 32:02Speaker 4: They're both great color guys, though, I.
- 32:03Speaker 8: Mean, yeah, the other day I switch my half.
- 32:09Speaker 4: Lumrooni doesn't usually do the Red Sox play by play,
- 32:12Speaker 4: right he's the color guy?
- 32:13Speaker 3: Well he did play by play on the radio, right, Yeah,
- 32:16Speaker 3: that's what I heard. All, okay, that's what I heard.
- 32:19Speaker 4: And I was a little bit thrown off by it
- 32:20Speaker 4: because Fred I've been watching a lot of Red Sox lately.
- 32:22Speaker 3: Why not. They're a fun team.
- 32:23Speaker 4: They're a fun team. I'm excited.
- 32:25Speaker 6: I'm glad.
- 32:25Speaker 8: Paul I said, dabbled.
- 32:28Speaker 3: For everybody said they were.
- 32:30Speaker 4: Can confirm, Yeah, good, well it was it was funny.
- 32:33Speaker 4: Is I just like I'm having conflict because I'm like,
- 32:35Speaker 4: I wake up, I've turned on sport like Brian bos
- 32:38Speaker 4: struck out the first ten batters and then all of
- 32:40Speaker 4: a sudden, like Tony Maserati, like I get a clip
- 32:43Speaker 4: on Instagram, like totally Masarati saying that he's he's been
- 32:45Speaker 4: a fail and I'm like, and I don't follow enough
- 32:48Speaker 4: of that right now to like know what the hell
- 32:49Speaker 4: he's talking about. But there's just a disconnect of like, well,
- 32:52Speaker 4: see that's how do you start.
- 32:54Speaker 3: This is typical Tony. You know, fail is too strong
- 32:58Speaker 3: a word, right. The jury still out on this kid.
- 33:01Speaker 3: He is struggling. He's having trouble with his control. He's
- 33:05Speaker 3: got the stuff, but he's having trouble with control, and
- 33:08Speaker 3: he's walking a lot of guys and he's getting himself
- 33:10Speaker 3: into trouble and then when something bad happens in the field,
- 33:13Speaker 3: it all go south. But that was a typical Bayo
- 33:17Speaker 3: game where he strikes at all those people, but he's
- 33:19Speaker 3: still having trouble because he doesn't have the control that
- 33:22Speaker 3: he needs. But he might get it. But to say
- 33:25Speaker 3: that he's a fails.
- 33:26Speaker 4: That's ridiculous.
- 33:27Speaker 3: That's ridiculous. Then Jared Duran was a fail and now
- 33:32Speaker 3: he's an All Star. So sometimes you just got to
- 33:35Speaker 3: trust your scouting and your coaching and stick with a guy,
- 33:39Speaker 3: you know, especially in baseball. I mean, these guys go
- 33:42Speaker 3: through you know, the minor league. Sometimes they don't become
- 33:45Speaker 3: a pro and till like their mid twenties, late twenties.
- 33:48Speaker 3: That's not rare. That's happens a lot in baseball.
- 33:54Speaker 4: Baseball in July feels nice.
- 33:55Speaker 3: Yeah, no, I'm having fun. Watch all how do you
- 33:58Speaker 3: lose to the a's Come on.
- 34:00Speaker 4: I know, come on the basis juice last night with
- 34:03Speaker 4: Raffi and ye grind it out.
- 34:05Speaker 3: Yeah, all right, let's get email is web radio at
- 34:10Speaker 3: Patriots dot com. Uh, Floyd writes in he's in Michigan.
- 34:15Speaker 3: Would you ever consider the following? He says, having some
- 34:18Speaker 3: shows where you don't take calls, having some shows where
- 34:22Speaker 3: you don't take as many calls to me, over time,
- 34:25Speaker 3: the quality of the callers has declined. Can you and
- 34:29Speaker 3: Paul please talk more? I mean we've taken one call.
- 34:33Speaker 5: Stuff and Paul's not here.
- 34:35Speaker 6: It's the start of the show.
- 34:36Speaker 3: Yeah, now you know what. I hear what he's saying,
- 34:39Speaker 3: because you know, when I'm watching or listening to Paul's shows,
- 34:43Speaker 3: you know, notably Felger and Maz in the afternoon when
- 34:47Speaker 3: I'm driving home, sometimes the calls do bring it down.
- 34:51Speaker 3: And that's why I think Felger's really good at how
- 34:53Speaker 3: he handles them. If they start going on, he cuts
- 34:57Speaker 3: them off. If they don't start up right away, he
- 35:00Speaker 3: he cuts them off. And that becomes a stick in
- 35:02Speaker 3: and of itself, how he handles the callers. But I
- 35:06Speaker 3: don't want to do that with our callers because I
- 35:08Speaker 3: feel like if you take the time to call, like
- 35:11Speaker 3: I should at least be nice to you.
- 35:13Speaker 6: No time for plus, Yeah, no time.
- 35:15Speaker 3: I'm grateful that you're calling us and listening.
- 35:17Speaker 6: You know, what's the question? Just get to it.
- 35:19Speaker 9: I don't know, I'm like this poor guy.
- 35:22Speaker 8: I was just excited to call into his favorite show.
- 35:24Speaker 6: But it is funny, likeeen year old.
- 35:26Speaker 8: Kid like hi, guys, first, like what's the question?
- 35:30Speaker 9: It was like a seven year old that called into McAfee.
- 35:34Speaker 3: But the best call I ever heard on Felger. The
- 35:36Speaker 3: guy calls up. He had been waiting for an hour.
- 35:39Speaker 3: He gets on the phone and he goes first time,
- 35:42Speaker 3: long time. I'll hang up and listen. That was call,
- 35:46Speaker 3: like Felder and Madge just broke up. It was the
- 35:48Speaker 3: best call ever.
- 35:50Speaker 6: The best call is brilliant.
- 35:54Speaker 4: I love it.
- 35:54Speaker 3: Yeah, first time, last, first time, long time. I'll hang
- 35:57Speaker 3: up and listen. Great call, great call.
- 36:01Speaker 8: You're probably so thrown off.
- 36:03Speaker 4: I just like the questions that spark a conversation, and
- 36:05Speaker 4: sometimes people question and we'll just get going and we
- 36:08Speaker 4: forget the person's even on the line.
- 36:10Speaker 3: Well, Melvin's been very good at that over the years,
- 36:12Speaker 3: sweet kid. Yeah, he usually throws a hand grenade and
- 36:16Speaker 3: we start arguing.
- 36:17Speaker 4: The hard calls for me are when somebody just kind
- 36:21Speaker 4: of throws a grenade, if hey, let's rehash this terrible
- 36:23Speaker 4: story and like throws it in and I don't want
- 36:25Speaker 4: to get into the whole, like Bilver's Tom thing right now.
- 36:27Speaker 4: Like you know, those ones sometimes, especially if you're in
- 36:31Speaker 4: like a positive headspace.
- 36:33Speaker 3: Travis in West Virginia earlier, fred I heard you say
- 36:36Speaker 3: about Montana he was vanilla and had no emotion. It
- 36:40Speaker 3: turns out you were talking about Montana's broadcasting career. But
- 36:43Speaker 3: my initial assumption was you were talking about Pat Nagawa.
- 36:47Speaker 3: It's a little listener on email or crime killing each
- 36:50Speaker 3: other today? What's going on dead the heat of the summer,
- 36:54Speaker 3: as I am wont to do. I disagree with everyone's
- 36:57Speaker 3: take on Greg Olsen as a broadcaster. He he gets
- 37:00Speaker 3: on my nerves because he tries to impart some kind
- 37:02Speaker 3: of deep football wisdom into every play and it's completely unnecessary.
- 37:08Speaker 6: Well, okay, to each their own.
- 37:09Speaker 3: Usually its strokes for different folks.
- 37:12Speaker 4: Usually I that this's just white noise to me, especially
- 37:14Speaker 4: we're usually watching the games in here, Like.
- 37:16Speaker 3: I have to say he's good, but I don't get
- 37:19Speaker 3: the whole the hype. Oh my god, he's great. Yeah,
- 37:21Speaker 3: I don't get that. Yeah. To me, all that says
- 37:25Speaker 3: is the rest of them aren't that good. If he's
- 37:27Speaker 3: that good, then the rest of them really aren't.
- 37:30Speaker 5: Yeah, there we go.
- 37:31Speaker 4: This is uh, this is gonna work. You know, like
- 37:36Speaker 4: one of those like pneumatic tubes that just like fires
- 37:39Speaker 4: it in hits me.
- 37:40Speaker 2: In the head.
- 37:40Speaker 10: The broadcasting that's been anoying me the past coal years.
- 37:43Speaker 10: I think it's gotten worse is the the on broadcast
- 37:47Speaker 10: ref like refusing to just admit that made a bad car.
- 37:50Speaker 10: I think it's gotten so much worse over the past
- 37:53Speaker 10: two or three years, and.
- 37:54Speaker 5: It's just like, just admit he messed up. It's fine.
- 37:56Speaker 5: They're human. They make mistakes, and it's like, oh no,
- 37:58Speaker 5: that's the right call. Like it's just it's not well.
- 38:00Speaker 3: When they first started, I forget who the guy was.
- 38:04Speaker 3: I think he was on Fox. They don't use him anymore.
- 38:08Speaker 3: But he was always wrong, like they bring him in
- 38:10Speaker 3: while they're not. It wasn't Prara is pretty good. This
- 38:14Speaker 3: guy was an older guy with white hair, maybe Terry
- 38:17Speaker 3: something I forget, but he was he was always wrong,
- 38:21Speaker 3: and then they got rid of him.
- 38:22Speaker 10: I think there's just so many new rules this year too,
- 38:24Speaker 10: so it's just gonna be more and more the kickoffs,
- 38:27Speaker 10: the hip drop, so I'm not looking.
- 38:29Speaker 5: Forward to this.
- 38:29Speaker 4: Reminded me of the hip trop I forgot about that.
- 38:31Speaker 4: Oh my god.
- 38:32Speaker 3: Speaking of the kickoff, Martin writes in and does Martin
- 38:36Speaker 3: say where he's from? Martin, He's from London. Bringing up
- 38:41Speaker 3: the kickoff rule, do you think the Jets have brought
- 38:44Speaker 3: Tarik Cohen back into the league as a sole kickoff returner?
- 38:48Speaker 3: Feels like he fits the prototype for what is needed
- 38:51Speaker 3: in that role, especially when Evan said that teams will
- 38:53Speaker 3: need a jitterbug type returner. Do the Patriots need to
- 38:56Speaker 3: bring someone in just for the returns? Feels like an
- 38:58Speaker 3: opportunity to put points to the board. So is it
- 39:01Speaker 3: worth investing in a guy for that sole purpose or
- 39:04Speaker 3: risk an existing guy getting banged up by running into
- 39:07Speaker 3: oncoming traffic.
- 39:08Speaker 4: We got Marcus, Yeah, I think they got some options
- 39:11Speaker 4: to consider. I mean I wouldn't I wouldn't go out.
- 39:13Speaker 4: I mean I'd love to see Marcus Jones get a
- 39:15Speaker 4: chance at it.
- 39:15Speaker 10: Bob Douglas regular kickoff guy, very interested. I think we're
- 39:21Speaker 10: gonna see a crazy like first six weeks, like nobody's
- 39:25Speaker 10: gonna know what to do with the kickoff. But I
- 39:26Speaker 10: could also just see it turning into like just boot
- 39:28Speaker 10: it out? Can you bloot out the end zone?
- 39:30Speaker 3: Oh you still do? Yeah?
- 39:31Speaker 10: I can just see people just being like, we're not
- 39:33Speaker 10: dealing with this, just got out the end?
- 39:34Speaker 4: How do you handle this season? Like do you not
- 39:36Speaker 4: reveal anything or you have to figure it out.
- 39:38Speaker 5: For your own purposes?
- 39:39Speaker 4: Like we have to show what we're gonna do because
- 39:41Speaker 4: we don't really know what we're doing.
- 39:42Speaker 10: Well, then I do hope that like it is an
- 39:45Speaker 10: added factor to the game and that you do have
- 39:46Speaker 10: some superstars back there and like see.
- 39:49Speaker 5: What he can do.
- 39:51Speaker 3: Also, Martin says he's new to the show and he
- 39:54Speaker 3: wants to know what our season schedule is during the season.
- 39:58Speaker 3: Where Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday two hours each, so we
- 40:02Speaker 3: go up to three shows a week during the season.
- 40:04Speaker 4: That'll be for week one though, I mean not.
- 40:06Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, it's the week prior to the first game
- 40:11Speaker 3: of the regular season.
- 40:12Speaker 4: And then we got the schedule for the shows too,
- 40:13Speaker 4: so it'll be we'll do what the first four practices
- 40:16Speaker 4: will be live PU and then and then some of
- 40:19Speaker 4: them because of this shifted practice schedule at eleven to
- 40:22Speaker 4: one will probably be a little bit later, so maybe
- 40:24Speaker 4: on Tuesday and Thursday there and later early morn.
- 40:27Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 40:27Speaker 4: Yeah, we'll have a little cheta check your local listings,
- 40:30Speaker 4: take your TV guide when p you will be on.
- 40:32Speaker 3: All right, my food's here, I gotta go, I gotta
- 40:36Speaker 3: send it to Paul.
- 40:37Speaker 2: Uh.
- 40:37Speaker 3: So we're going to take a break and we'll be
- 40:38Speaker 3: right back with more PU and Patriots whatever. Whether you're

- 41:47Speaker 16: Bring your phone to your Verizon stward to day and
- 41:50Speaker 16: get my plan. These deals won't last it's your verizon.
- 41:55Speaker 8: What's up everybody?
- 41:56Speaker 7: Matta here, Let's listen to a snippet from a Pass
- 41:58Speaker 7: from the Past with Mike Vrabel.
- 42:00Speaker 17: Out for another episode of Patch from the Past podcast,
- 42:02Speaker 17: Matt Smith and Pop Row joined by the newest member
- 42:05Speaker 17: of the Patriots Hall of Fame, Mike Rabel and boy
- 42:07Speaker 17: for two people.
- 42:08Speaker 3: I know you'd think we're going to be byesing you.
- 42:10Speaker 17: But we were on the table, Mike pounding every single year,
- 42:13Speaker 17: give rabel in, get rabel in, find the year in.
- 42:15Speaker 5: What was the experience like for you yesterday.
- 42:17Speaker 2: Mike, Well, it was amazing.
- 42:20Speaker 11: It just to come up and the reception that we received,
- 42:23Speaker 11: my family received, that I received from the first of
- 42:28Speaker 11: all the fans that we're here in the rain and
- 42:29Speaker 11: again I know that I wish that we could have
- 42:32Speaker 11: had the fans, but we didn't.
- 42:33Speaker 2: I think it was an intimate reception, just a lot
- 42:38Speaker 2: of emotion.
- 42:39Speaker 11: I don't think I've given myself a chance to just
- 42:41Speaker 11: to go back and reflect on that on the eight
- 42:44Speaker 11: years here and the success and the teammates, and I
- 42:48Speaker 11: think that was probably the coolest thing was to see
- 42:51Speaker 11: them and see Dante and be able to you know,
- 42:55Speaker 11: just catch up and you know, just see how excited everybody.
- 42:58Speaker 3: Is for you.
- 42:59Speaker 18: Can we go back to the start of that eight
- 43:01Speaker 18: years and you know, sort of run us through your
- 43:04Speaker 18: free agent visit here. We've heard a lot of stories
- 43:06Speaker 18: about how it's not overly glamorous when.
- 43:09Speaker 17: The line that they wind in dynam at the ground round.
- 43:12Speaker 11: I don't know if you were, well, I was with
- 43:14Speaker 11: Anthony Pleasant and so we probably got a little nicer experience.
- 43:18Speaker 2: I think we actually went to the Capitol Grill in
- 43:21Speaker 2: Chestnut Hill.
- 43:25Speaker 11: Yeah, so because I think Bill had had history with
- 43:28Speaker 11: with Anthony Pleasant, so he was probably like, well, let
- 43:31Speaker 11: me take Anthony for for a nice meal. And but
- 43:35Speaker 11: it was just you know, visit at the stadium in
- 43:37Speaker 11: old Foxboro Stadium. And you know, again, this isn't These
- 43:42Speaker 11: aren't recruiting trips. These are trips to to make sure
- 43:45Speaker 11: that you know, this is the player that we want
- 43:47Speaker 11: to target, and the player can ask questions and get
- 43:51Speaker 11: information and then make a decision. And so didn't have
- 43:54Speaker 11: a whole lot of options, and this one was certainly, uh,
- 43:57Speaker 11: you know, you know the best one for me.
- 44:00Speaker 3: Do you.
- 44:00Speaker 17: You said yesterday during your speech that it was important
- 44:03Speaker 17: for you to start. You know, in four years, you
- 44:06Speaker 17: did a lot, but you wanted to start. Did you
- 44:08Speaker 17: get a sense, maybe on that visit or early on
- 44:10Speaker 17: Mike that these guys had a good idea of how
- 44:13Speaker 17: to use you.
- 44:14Speaker 11: Well, I can remember having a conversation with Bill and
- 44:17Speaker 11: him saying, Hey, really, all we need is what you
- 44:20Speaker 11: did in that preseason game last year against Miami. And
- 44:23Speaker 11: I'm thinking I don't even remember playing Miami in the preseason,
- 44:28Speaker 11: but Bill had gone back and he had watched and
- 44:30Speaker 11: there were clips that he must have seen that there
- 44:33Speaker 11: was a vision for probably an extended playtime at that
- 44:38Speaker 11: point in time in the preseason or whatever it was.
- 44:42Speaker 2: And so then I started thinking, Okay, well, at least
- 44:45Speaker 2: you know.
- 44:45Speaker 11: They have an idea of how they want to use
- 44:47Speaker 11: me or what I maybe able to do there. Bill
- 44:51Speaker 11: had talked about the opportunity, not guaranteeing anything, but saying
- 44:55Speaker 11: that there would be a spot at you know, available
- 44:58Speaker 11: pretty much at outside linebacker where you know, they would
- 45:01Speaker 11: have some other players to compete with.
- 45:03Speaker 2: And then see where things were.
- 45:05Speaker 18: When you look at the way your years unfolded, it's
- 45:08Speaker 18: almost like it was a perfect system for you. I mean,
- 45:10Speaker 18: did you catch that right away, like they really want
- 45:13Speaker 18: to use me exactly to Well, I don't think.
- 45:17Speaker 2: I wasn't being misused in Pittsburgh.
- 45:19Speaker 11: I had just transitioned from a couple of different positions,
- 45:23Speaker 11: you know, was rotating in and was getting some playing
- 45:25Speaker 11: time three and four years in special teams and third
- 45:29Speaker 11: down packages, whatever.
- 45:30Speaker 2: That may be.
- 45:32Speaker 11: But this was a new opportunity, some carryover from Pittsburgh,
- 45:38Speaker 11: some different and then as things progressed and it was,
- 45:42Speaker 11: you know, learn this position. I actually think I played
- 45:44Speaker 11: two seasons inside linebacker or a season and a half
- 45:48Speaker 11: at some point in time, and you'll find myself at
- 45:52Speaker 11: different spots, do you.
- 45:54Speaker 17: I've heard this from many ex players, guys who you
- 45:56Speaker 17: played with and everything like that. Were you able to
- 45:58Speaker 17: get away with more as far as like maybe busting.
- 46:01Speaker 11: Bill's Paul, Well, I don't know. I think the time
- 46:03Speaker 11: is overratable. No, I don't think it's overrated. I think
- 46:06Speaker 11: that there is. Like I said yesterday, I think I
- 46:09Speaker 11: said things that everybody wanted to say, and I probably
- 46:12Speaker 11: was just dumb enough to say it. I sometimes say
- 46:16Speaker 11: the quiet part out loud sometimes unfortunately. Uh, but it's
- 46:19Speaker 11: all timing and sometimes.
- 46:21Speaker 2: You know it, you know, it's a it's a it's a.
- 46:24Speaker 11: Turn to punch bowl and doesn't always work, but sometimes
- 46:27Speaker 11: it works.
- 46:27Speaker 2: Out pretty good.
- 46:29Speaker 11: But but that takes a little bit of time and
- 46:31Speaker 11: it takes you know, again, you have to be willing
- 46:34Speaker 11: to take it and if you want to give it.
- 46:36Speaker 11: And I think that Bill always was very conscious of that,
- 46:40Speaker 11: whether that's players to to Bill or Bill to us.
- 46:44Speaker 11: You know, he knew that, you know, we had to
- 46:47Speaker 11: sit there and and take it when we got the
- 46:49Speaker 11: low lights and you know, we'd be on the bellustrator
- 46:52Speaker 11: and it would be like, you know, what we can't do,
- 46:54Speaker 11: and so it just it was a good situation. We
- 46:57Speaker 11: had a bunch of really good teammates that that all
- 46:59Speaker 11: kind rallied behind that.
- 47:01Speaker 17: Do you think maybe, I mean, you were able to
- 47:03Speaker 17: back it up with you play though, Mike, I don't
- 47:04Speaker 17: know if that's a fifty third or fifty fourth guy
- 47:06Speaker 17: that was trying to crack wise, it might be different. Well,
- 47:10Speaker 17: you you were a community eye on all three phases
- 47:12Speaker 17: of the game.
- 47:12Speaker 11: Yeah, I mean, but I think that that's what makes
- 47:15Speaker 11: a locker rooms just different personalities. Again, you have to
- 47:21Speaker 11: perform on the field and then whatever your personality is
- 47:24Speaker 11: I think that was there was no restrictions on, Hey,
- 47:27Speaker 11: we can just want.
- 47:28Speaker 2: A bunch of robots.
- 47:29Speaker 11: That's I think that was the impression that everybody had,
- 47:32Speaker 11: and we certainly weren't that.
- 47:34Speaker 2: Well.
- 47:34Speaker 18: The best thing about Mike, and I told you this
- 47:36Speaker 18: a million times, Mike didn't care who he was busting on.
- 47:39Speaker 18: Professional I used to call you a professional ballbuster.
- 47:42Speaker 6: That's what you were.
- 47:42Speaker 18: I'd come in with like a TV shirt on one
- 47:44Speaker 18: day and you go, look at this fraud. He's got
- 47:46Speaker 18: TV and it didn't matter. He treated all of us
- 47:49Speaker 18: the same, and I think that's probably permeated the locker
- 47:52Speaker 18: room and guarded respect in that way.
- 47:54Speaker 2: Well again, I think the fact that.
- 47:58Speaker 11: If you have a relationship with somebody, I think that's
- 48:00Speaker 11: when you kind of go back and forth with them.
- 48:02Speaker 2: It's like having a nickname. You don't have a nickname,
- 48:04Speaker 2: you know, there's no such thing.
- 48:05Speaker 11: As a bad nickname. Just be appreciative that you have
- 48:07Speaker 11: a nickname. That means that they know who you are
- 48:10Speaker 11: and that you're kind of a part of the group.
- 48:12Speaker 11: And if you don't have a nickname, you know, you
- 48:14Speaker 11: better try to figure out why. And so it was
- 48:18Speaker 11: whether it was a relationship with the media. You know,
- 48:21Speaker 11: it was a two way street assistant coaches and certainly teammates.
- 48:26Speaker 6: Much has been made.
- 48:28Speaker 17: You played in a different era of believe it or not,
- 48:30Speaker 17: where and as during your career the league was starting
- 48:33Speaker 17: to legislate against defenses hard hitting and everything like that.
- 48:37Speaker 17: When you look back at the Warner play Ties interception,
- 48:41Speaker 17: I just thought it was very generous of Tie to
- 48:43Speaker 17: give you credit yesterday to are you going to get
- 48:45Speaker 17: flagged for that if that play happens today?
- 48:47Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 48:48Speaker 11: I mean, I think that what we've talked about is
- 48:50Speaker 11: matching the hand, and they've they've they've changed here in
- 48:53Speaker 11: the last year or two about what's forcible. Hell, I
- 48:56Speaker 11: don't know, you know what I mean, I should have
- 48:58Speaker 11: gotten there sooner, to be honest with the block man.
- 49:00Speaker 11: It was just a lucky play and Tied it all
- 49:02Speaker 11: the work. And but whether it's you know, as long
- 49:05Speaker 11: as it's not forcible. You know, we've talked about matching
- 49:08Speaker 11: a hand and same thing that they teach here and
- 49:10Speaker 11: you know everybody else is trying to teach. And didn't
- 49:13Speaker 11: hit the football. I'm glad that I did it so
- 49:15Speaker 11: that Ty was able to catch it and score.
- 49:18Speaker 18: Can we ask you a little bit about tight end too,
- 49:20Speaker 18: and just sort of how that transition, how did it
- 49:23Speaker 18: come about?
- 49:24Speaker 4: Who's Who's I?
- 49:25Speaker 2: I think Drew put it best yesterday. I had a.
- 49:27Speaker 11: Bunch of energy and it'd show up three hours before
- 49:29Speaker 11: the game and go out on the field and Drew
- 49:31Speaker 11: it would be out warming up and I would start
- 49:33Speaker 11: running routes and he'd say, well, this is this is one,
- 49:36Speaker 11: this is two, this is three.
- 49:38Speaker 5: Four or five.
- 49:39Speaker 11: Run this, you know, different routes, and I'd run him
- 49:43Speaker 11: on the right and we'd flip around and run him
- 49:44Speaker 11: on the left, and then I'd go inside and wait
- 49:48Speaker 11: for the game. And he must have had a conversation
- 49:52Speaker 11: or Charlie was outside and said, hey, this guy could
- 49:54Speaker 11: probably do this, and we we headed in. We used
- 50:01Speaker 11: it finally in the Chargers game in San Diego. Scored,
- 50:06Speaker 11: we lost the game, so it did not get much attention,
- 50:10Speaker 11: and then kind of snowballed from there. Whether we had
- 50:15Speaker 11: two tight ends active or three, sometimes that that third
- 50:19Speaker 11: tight end was never very happy when we got down
- 50:22Speaker 11: to the goal line. And you know, so those tight
- 50:24Speaker 11: ends probably hated the fact that I would go in there.
- 50:27Speaker 19: At times when someone accidentally threw the school play costumes.
- 50:32Speaker 19: No replacements were shipped with FedEx, and with picture proof
- 50:36Speaker 19: of delivery, everyone could focus on the perfect opening night
- 50:39Speaker 19: FedEx Where now it's next for residential delivery only.
- 50:45Speaker 5: And now great moments in history.
- 50:50Speaker 20: And I was still nice enough to invite you along, Yes,
- 50:53Speaker 20: very nice. Yes, there were like six of us. I
- 50:57Speaker 20: mean the place was to say Fred was the you
- 50:59Speaker 20: know what block?
- 51:00Speaker 3: Why are you mad at me? Why? Why?
- 51:01Speaker 5: He says, with the big grin across his face.
- 51:03Speaker 3: Why are you so upset?
- 51:04Speaker 6: What I'm upset at you?
- 51:06Speaker 3: Why? Yeah? Just you? All of our lives are open book.
- 51:10Speaker 3: Why is it you are?
- 51:11Speaker 20: Why you purposely do these things?
- 51:14Speaker 2: Yes?
- 51:15Speaker 3: I do, Yes, yes, I do talk. We all talk
- 51:18Speaker 3: about things going on.
- 51:19Speaker 6: You make things out of thin air that are not there.
- 51:21Speaker 6: What's thin air?
- 51:22Speaker 3: You were with a lady friend? What's what's thin air
- 51:25Speaker 3: about that?
- 51:26Speaker 20: No, a lady friend implies that there's something going on,
- 51:29Speaker 20: and she wrote, that's the end of it.
- 51:31Speaker 3: Dude, Look but it doesn't have to be it.
- 51:33Speaker 20: It is because I told you yesterday, and I don't
- 51:35Speaker 20: like it when you make me repeat myself.
- 51:38Speaker 5: It sounds like my father.
- 51:41Speaker 3: You think I'm screwing things up for you.
- 51:42Speaker 6: Just tell me you've been screwing things up for me
- 51:44Speaker 6: for twelve years.
- 51:45Speaker 5: Buddy, Did you specifically tell him not to mention it?
- 51:48Speaker 2: No?
- 51:48Speaker 20: I knew he was going as soon as he walked
- 51:50Speaker 20: up and saw us.
- 51:51Speaker 6: He had that stupid grin that he's got on his
- 51:52Speaker 6: face right now. I can so see it.
- 51:56Speaker 3: I won't mention it again. But if when something happens.
- 51:59Speaker 6: Could you let us No, nothing is going to happen, you.
- 52:03Speaker 3: Know, like if they hook, you know, if they decide.
- 52:04Speaker 4: To nothing is going to happen.
- 52:10Speaker 6: You morons. I'm gonna go with, why are you yelling
- 52:13Speaker 6: at me?
- 52:13Speaker 17: I didn't do anything because because you're joking around to
- 52:15Speaker 17: you him on a little Yes, you do, admit it,
- 52:17Speaker 17: but this is.
- 52:18Speaker 4: All Fred, I don't know.
- 52:20Speaker 3: Okay, what'd you guys eat?
- 52:21Speaker 5: Did I miss that part? I had sword fish?
- 52:23Speaker 1: That's another great moment from.
- 52:28Speaker 3: All right back here on Patriots Unfiltered date five five
- 52:31Speaker 3: past five hundred is the a stick and hotline web
- 52:33Speaker 3: radio at Patriots dot com. It's the email address we
- 52:36Speaker 3: miss Eric.
- 52:37Speaker 6: You just eat sword fish during the show.
- 52:39Speaker 3: No, this was that at the dinner that saw the
- 52:43Speaker 3: two of them.
- 52:44Speaker 6: All right, I misinterpreted the story. I thought you were
- 52:46Speaker 6: no stish work.
- 52:49Speaker 3: You don't do that, Yeah.
- 52:50Speaker 8: Absolutely, especially if it's in the microwave.
- 52:53Speaker 3: Yeah, you don't do that.
- 52:54Speaker 8: No, you gotta eat it cold. If you happened here
- 52:56Speaker 8: two days ago.
- 52:57Speaker 4: If it's gonna works, it's gonna almost right because it's
- 53:01Speaker 4: kind of seafoody.
- 53:02Speaker 3: But yeah, from cocktails, he's going to something that's gonna
- 53:08Speaker 3: you know, vile smell to the rest of the office.
- 53:11Speaker 3: That's just not good etiquette. You know, Uh, what's the
- 53:16Speaker 3: not cauliflower? What's the other thing that will Brussels sprout?
- 53:19Speaker 8: Sprout?
- 53:20Speaker 2: Smell?
- 53:20Speaker 6: Broccole's pretty bad too.
- 53:21Speaker 4: Broccoley is pretty bad smell when you cook it like,
- 53:23Speaker 4: it's kind of underrated. I I mean, I like broccoli,
- 53:25Speaker 4: but airfire broccoli beat dubs, change the game.
- 53:29Speaker 8: I gotta talk to you about the airfire.
- 53:31Speaker 6: Oh you got what cancer?
- 53:33Speaker 21: No?
- 53:34Speaker 4: Well, because Lane was like no, I heard, because well
- 53:37Speaker 4: the air it recycles the air. And I'm like, all right,
- 53:40Speaker 4: So the air fire caused cancer. Our gas stove causes cancer.
- 53:43Speaker 4: The microwave probably causes cancer.
- 53:46Speaker 3: What am I like?
- 53:47Speaker 6: Charcoal causes cancer?
- 53:49Speaker 9: Detalks enough of my life that I'm not that worried
- 53:52Speaker 9: about the air fire.
- 53:52Speaker 8: Especially I don't use that offen. My issue is that.
- 53:55Speaker 9: Like people on TikTok cook meat in the air fire
- 54:00Speaker 9: way better than I do, and I don't get it
- 54:03Speaker 9: because I can. I'm a master with a stainless steel
- 54:05Speaker 9: pan cast iron, like I can do.
- 54:07Speaker 8: The hard stuff.
- 54:09Speaker 9: I cannot figure out how people get the sierra and
- 54:11Speaker 9: the crispiness.
- 54:12Speaker 5: In the air turn it on, don't they.
- 54:16Speaker 8: I think people on TikTok.
- 54:18Speaker 3: Sear it first and then they put it in the air.
- 54:21Speaker 9: I saw a guy on YouTube cook a steak in
- 54:24Speaker 9: his airfire and it looks beautiful on one side, and
- 54:26Speaker 9: you can't convince me that he's not putting that on
- 54:29Speaker 9: a cast iron and then putting it in the air,
- 54:31Speaker 9: perfect real marks.
- 54:33Speaker 5: In the air fry, and you take it off halfway through,
- 54:34Speaker 5: shake it. It's good. I don't know if air fired
- 54:38Speaker 5: hot hot dogs.
- 54:40Speaker 4: It's so convenient like hot dogs.
- 54:43Speaker 8: If that's not the single man I live alone thing
- 54:46Speaker 8: I've ever said.
- 54:49Speaker 3: If it's air, right, it's hot air? Is that how
- 54:51Speaker 3: it works? Where's the fry come in right?
- 54:54Speaker 6: When you put a little it's a little out of it.
- 54:58Speaker 2: You know.
- 54:58Speaker 4: And then but it's not drowning in the oil. It
- 55:00Speaker 4: just it hits it with air and it And I
- 55:02Speaker 4: mean I've done tofu, I've done salmon, I've done chicken
- 55:04Speaker 4: and broccoli.
- 55:05Speaker 3: Is it fast?
- 55:08Speaker 10: Nothing you're gonna do. Frozen foods is the best thing.
- 55:11Speaker 10: Like you have a bag of fries tastes like McDonalds.
- 55:14Speaker 4: Oh it does.
- 55:14Speaker 3: So now they make ovens that are air fryers, like
- 55:17Speaker 3: the toaster one that I mean, I don't mean. I
- 55:19Speaker 3: mean like you're a conventional.
- 55:20Speaker 4: My convention over made air fried chicken last night with
- 55:22Speaker 4: it just just cut up a potato, tossed it an avocado,
- 55:26Speaker 4: oil and salt, throw them and it's like fresh fries,
- 55:28Speaker 4: like right out of there. And it's it's too convenient,
- 55:30Speaker 4: like and that's why Lane's already pumping the brakes on it.
- 55:32Speaker 6: And like we're using this thing too much.
- 55:34Speaker 3: Like the oil create creates the crispyiness.
- 55:36Speaker 4: Yeah yeah, and even on like like tofu, and some
- 55:39Speaker 4: people don't like tofu. But you know, we'll eat it
- 55:40Speaker 4: cover every a couple of weeks. But it'll like crisp
- 55:43Speaker 4: it up.
- 55:43Speaker 6: It'll put a shell on it.
- 55:44Speaker 3: If you toss it potato cook a pike potato nice quick.
- 55:49Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean I inside, but i'd have to check,
- 55:52Speaker 4: but I'm sure it's we'll get back to it. But
- 55:56Speaker 4: usually I just cut them up and toss them in oil.
- 55:58Speaker 5: Nacho's like. It's great.
- 56:00Speaker 4: It's it's quick too. It's pretty healthy, I guess, except
- 56:03Speaker 4: for the cancer part.
- 56:03Speaker 3: Apparently it's only except the cancer.
- 56:06Speaker 9: I think it's only if I think it's teflon that like,
- 56:11Speaker 9: there's stainless steel ones that are fine. But I think
- 56:13Speaker 9: if you scratch the teflon, the chemical.
- 56:15Speaker 8: Starts to seep out. But I don't know.
- 56:18Speaker 5: I've used it.
- 56:19Speaker 8: I mean you get it from your air fire. You're
- 56:22Speaker 8: gonna get it from like your and going outside.
- 56:25Speaker 3: So like if you have to go, at least go
- 56:28Speaker 3: well fed.
- 56:28Speaker 6: And I'm gonna go eating air fried food.
- 56:31Speaker 4: And I mean the air fried broccoli you like get
- 56:33Speaker 4: it like burned almost and it's like crispy. It's my favorite.
- 56:36Speaker 3: Okay.
- 56:36Speaker 9: Anyway, the summer, the oven, you don't hate up the
- 56:40Speaker 9: whole house in the summer it's too hot to see, right.
- 56:43Speaker 3: We'll have a cookoff, have a microwave, an air fyer,
- 56:46Speaker 3: a deep fryers.
- 56:49Speaker 8: On the stainless steel pan. That's my.
- 56:54Speaker 4: Well, still just just an iron cast iron skill. You
- 56:56Speaker 4: can do amazing. Just thinks with that, and I think
- 56:58Speaker 4: that's probably pretty healthy unless you're using because.
- 57:01Speaker 3: Okay, web radio at Patris dot com is the email
- 57:04Speaker 3: address Jeff and new Brunswick. I was listening to the
- 57:08Speaker 3: conversation Tuesday about starting Drake May in week one. I
- 57:12Speaker 3: think we are forgetting why they brought Jacoby Brissette here
- 57:15Speaker 3: in the first place. He's an established middle of the
- 57:17Speaker 3: road veteran with a great locker room reputation, and he's
- 57:20Speaker 3: a solid leader. No one ever thought that Drake wouldn't
- 57:23Speaker 3: look better on the field by the end of camp.
- 57:26Speaker 3: Not starting Jacoby for the first few weeks at least
- 57:28Speaker 3: will deprive will deprive Drake of the thing he needs
- 57:32Speaker 3: more than anything, leadership training. All NFL quarterbacks are required
- 57:37Speaker 3: to be good leaders. Their primary goal is taking a
- 57:40Speaker 3: team of APEX athletes with individual goals and agendas into
- 57:45Speaker 3: battle against other other teams. Leadership is learned and practice skilled,
- 57:51Speaker 3: not something you're born with. I'm not sure about that.
- 57:53Speaker 3: Drake needs to see how Jacoby manages his weekly schedule,
- 57:57Speaker 3: how he handles dissent on the sideline, how he rallies
- 58:00Speaker 3: the team when they're behind, how he deals with teams
- 58:03Speaker 3: success and failure, how he handles coaches, the media, the
- 58:07Speaker 3: multitude of distractions and so on. What Drake did at
- 58:10Speaker 3: UNC will no doubt help, but it can't be close
- 58:13Speaker 3: to what he will see in New England. He's still
- 58:15Speaker 3: just a kid like Offens. I hope Drake is the answer,
- 58:18Speaker 3: and I'm excited to see him in action as soon
- 58:20Speaker 3: as possible. But I think starting him week one would
- 58:23Speaker 3: be a mistake. We have to rely on Gerrod and
- 58:25Speaker 3: AVP to make the right call on that one at
- 58:28Speaker 3: the right time. So what do you think about the
- 58:30Speaker 3: whole leadership?
- 58:31Speaker 4: I would respectfully disagree, you know, I think there are
- 58:34Speaker 4: some things that I do agree with of just getting
- 58:36Speaker 4: a feel for the games, But I don't think if
- 58:38Speaker 4: you set out for six games, it's gonna make you
- 58:40Speaker 4: a leader all of a sudden.
- 58:41Speaker 3: I think what he's saying is watching someone who is
- 58:44Speaker 3: a good leader, does that make you a good leader.
- 58:46Speaker 9: I think he'll go play quarterback at the university in
- 58:49Speaker 9: North Carolina and you probably have some of those intangibles
- 58:52Speaker 9: you need By that point.
- 58:53Speaker 8: It's not like he's a toddler.
- 58:54Speaker 4: I mean, we all know what's gonna happen, right Like,
- 58:56Speaker 4: I mean, it's gonna be hard. There's gonna be you know,
- 58:57Speaker 4: some games that they don't play well and you're gonna
- 58:59Speaker 4: have to face the media and explain why. And it's
- 59:02Speaker 4: not this like secret about how you handle those things
- 59:05Speaker 4: the right way. And he seems like the kind of
- 59:07Speaker 4: kid that understands that.
- 59:09Speaker 8: I kind of disagree with the part that you're like
- 59:11Speaker 8: not born a leader. You have like I think you
- 59:13Speaker 8: kind of I think some people have that. Some people
- 59:15Speaker 8: are just born with those personalities.
- 59:17Speaker 4: Yeah, I think he kind of has it. I just
- 59:22Speaker 4: I wouldn't be worried that if he plays immediately that
- 59:25Speaker 4: he's not going to understand how to be a leader
- 59:27Speaker 4: for the team. I do agree with the point though, that,
- 59:31Speaker 4: like I said, I think on Tuesday, of just understanding
- 59:34Speaker 4: how a game goes with adjustments and and and understanding
- 59:37Speaker 4: how much things might have to change based on the
- 59:39Speaker 4: game plan that you had going into the game too,
- 59:41Speaker 4: when you get punched in the mouth and you need
- 59:43Speaker 4: to adjust, like so, I do think that there's an
- 59:45Speaker 4: element of that that would be helpful to understand, like, look,
- 59:48Speaker 4: we thought we were gonna be able to do this,
- 59:49Speaker 4: we got to go to this, and you know, Drake
- 59:51Speaker 4: may at that point might be like, I have no
- 59:53Speaker 4: idea how to execute Plan B, whereas Jacoby Brissett has
- 59:57Speaker 4: had that experience and has gone out there and run
- 59:59Speaker 4: into a brick wall, and look, our game plan is
- 1:00:01Speaker 4: not going to work. We need to adjust on the fly.
- 1:00:03Speaker 4: So I do agree there, but ultimately, I just think
- 1:00:05Speaker 4: we're talking about little elements that aren't going to really
- 1:00:08Speaker 4: matter in the long run, and I ultimately just want
- 1:00:10Speaker 4: to start.
- 1:00:11Speaker 3: I'm not saying that there's nothing to be learned by watching,
- 1:00:15Speaker 3: but does a hell of a lot more to be
- 1:00:18Speaker 3: learned by doing. And if Jacoby's on the sideline helping
- 1:00:21Speaker 3: him through those transitions, that's fine too. You know. Yes,
- 1:00:26Speaker 3: I think it was a great idea to bring Jacoby
- 1:00:29Speaker 3: Presett in because he is a you know, he's a
- 1:00:32Speaker 3: good locker room guys, veteran in the league. He can
- 1:00:35Speaker 3: teach Drake a lot, but he doesn't have to teach
- 1:00:39Speaker 3: him out in the field. He can teach him on
- 1:00:40Speaker 3: the sideline and camp. You know, listen, like I said,
- 1:00:46Speaker 3: unless he's mentally not ready. He will be the starter
- 1:00:50Speaker 3: week one. Drake May.
- 1:00:52Speaker 4: One thing I think he did he say that everyone
- 1:00:54Speaker 4: expected Drake me to look better than Jacoby Pressett at camp.
- 1:00:56Speaker 3: I think, yeah, writes what he says. I don't, Yeah, I.
- 1:00:58Speaker 4: Don't really expect expect that. I mean, I think it's
- 1:01:01Speaker 4: certainly a possibility, and I would welcome that, but I
- 1:01:04Speaker 4: think really my more of my expectation was that Jacoby
- 1:01:07Speaker 4: Brissett just understands how to run the offense right now,
- 1:01:09Speaker 4: and it's a little bit smoother, and you know, at least,
- 1:01:12Speaker 4: I mean, there's no question on the field, the athleticism
- 1:01:15Speaker 4: is completely different, especially when you compared to past quarterbacks
- 1:01:17Speaker 4: that we're here with how Drake looks. But I just
- 1:01:21Speaker 4: think the execution, I'm expecting that should look better under Jacoby.
- 1:01:23Speaker 4: And if it looks the same or Drake looks better
- 1:01:25Speaker 4: at that, then then what.
- 1:01:26Speaker 3: Are we What are we doing now? May has stuck around, right,
- 1:01:30Speaker 3: he never left Foxborough, So I think.
- 1:01:32Speaker 9: I read that with his girlfriend's been posting a lot
- 1:01:35Speaker 9: of like explore Boston area, TikTok.
- 1:01:38Speaker 3: There you go.
- 1:01:38Speaker 6: That's she got her ear to the ground.
- 1:01:44Speaker 3: Where this locat Even though the team's not here. He's
- 1:01:47Speaker 3: still football.
- 1:01:49Speaker 5: Yeah, I doubt getting ready.
- 1:01:51Speaker 10: He's like, I'm just gonna leave the playbook here and
- 1:01:52Speaker 10: go check out the same real quick, right, you know.
- 1:01:55Speaker 6: He's like, I've never been to a new state before.
- 1:01:57Speaker 4: This is crazy different things in North Sorry, that's my
- 1:02:01Speaker 4: strange words.
- 1:02:01Speaker 6: I went into that one.
- 1:02:04Speaker 8: You gotta get another dialect on the sub.
- 1:02:06Speaker 3: They can handle a rotary on the first try, then
- 1:02:08Speaker 3: he can handle being a quarterback. In the end of
- 1:02:10Speaker 3: the day.
- 1:02:10Speaker 8: You go, sorry, you got a rotary.
- 1:02:13Speaker 9: So West Springfield's putting in a new rotary and it
- 1:02:17Speaker 9: wasn't at a place where you formerly could take a left.
- 1:02:19Speaker 8: People lost their minds. They don't know how to use
- 1:02:21Speaker 8: the rotary. People were taking a left into this rotary
- 1:02:23Speaker 8: to the point, or the construction company that's doing the
- 1:02:26Speaker 8: work how to put up cones to block.
- 1:02:28Speaker 9: So you can't even use the rotary yet until the
- 1:02:31Speaker 9: signs are here because peoples.
- 1:02:35Speaker 3: Rotary guy through through right, well, the born rotary, they didn't.
- 1:02:40Speaker 3: They changed the lines on the road to make it
- 1:02:44Speaker 3: a little bit. I saw that.
- 1:02:45Speaker 4: I saw that.
- 1:02:46Speaker 3: Yeah, I think it's a good addition. But if you're
- 1:02:48Speaker 3: coming from Falmouth, it backs people up more because before
- 1:02:54Speaker 3: you come from twenty eight and you just blow out
- 1:02:57Speaker 3: onto the rotary, but now they funnel you to one
- 1:02:59Speaker 3: line at least if you're trying to, you know, follow
- 1:03:04Speaker 3: the lines, and so it backs up a little bit more.
- 1:03:10Speaker 6: Like what is it like?
- 1:03:10Speaker 9: And it was, no, we do there's like a famous
- 1:03:14Speaker 9: rotary that makes no sense. It's a new one and
- 1:03:17Speaker 9: it's in like the center mall of the town. So
- 1:03:20Speaker 9: I know that was in a side, but I think
- 1:03:22Speaker 9: Fred could sense, like, had it.
- 1:03:24Speaker 10: Like some rotary story rotary here.
- 1:03:29Speaker 4: In New England that we have rotaries roundabouts roundabout.
- 1:03:34Speaker 3: Let's see who's this DARPN in New York City. Uh,
- 1:03:40Speaker 3: these two things are very likely to happen. Patriots missed
- 1:03:43Speaker 3: the playoffs this year and Gerrod Mayo was still the
- 1:03:46Speaker 3: head coach next year, and both these make us eligible
- 1:03:49Speaker 3: to be on Hard Knocks next year, and I think
- 1:03:52Speaker 3: we would be one of the most, if not the
- 1:03:54Speaker 3: most compelling teams to be on. So from that premise,
- 1:03:57Speaker 3: here are my questions for the crew. What's out with
- 1:04:00Speaker 3: that premise though? Is that still the case without Bill
- 1:04:03Speaker 3: that you would be one of the most intriguing teams
- 1:04:06Speaker 3: to be. I don't see why he would be any
- 1:04:08Speaker 3: more intriguing than any other team.
- 1:04:10Speaker 10: By next year if they were bad, it would I
- 1:04:12Speaker 10: think everyone who like mysterious.
- 1:04:16Speaker 5: So it's like, oh, now he can finally like who
- 1:04:19Speaker 5: are the.
- 1:04:19Speaker 3: You know, maybe they will emerge this year, but right now,
- 1:04:22Speaker 3: who are the you know, intriguing characters on the Patriots.
- 1:04:27Speaker 3: I don't know. No, No, Matthew Judon, ye, he's by
- 1:04:31Speaker 3: the way. Well story on him that he wanted wants
- 1:04:35Speaker 3: an extension. They made an offer, but they're not close,
- 1:04:39Speaker 3: that's the report. I don't know.
- 1:04:41Speaker 4: I wonder with him, I wonder.
- 1:04:44Speaker 3: They could move him.
- 1:04:45Speaker 6: Yeah, I think they could.
- 1:04:47Speaker 4: And it's it's it's almost like one of those Bill
- 1:04:49Speaker 4: moves like where you're like.
- 1:04:50Speaker 3: Maybe the Red Sox bring them on before the trade.
- 1:04:52Speaker 4: Does not probably not as crazy as Seymour, but that
- 1:04:56Speaker 4: kind of move where you're just like, you don't really
- 1:04:58Speaker 4: have a guy in back of him, but it's moving
- 1:05:00Speaker 4: on at a certain time from a guy that you
- 1:05:02Speaker 4: know you're not going to be able to.
- 1:05:03Speaker 5: It'd be one of those things, right.
- 1:05:04Speaker 10: The NFL's a business, and I get it, but like
- 1:05:07Speaker 10: that would suck just the past for you know, post
- 1:05:09Speaker 10: Brady era. That's like one of the few bright spots,
- 1:05:12Speaker 10: Like there are not many players that can get a
- 1:05:14Speaker 10: whole stadium to do a celebration when you makes a
- 1:05:16Speaker 10: big play.
- 1:05:17Speaker 5: From a marketing perspect that somebody gets the juice is
- 1:05:20Speaker 5: flowing tough.
- 1:05:21Speaker 6: That's what they love in football.
- 1:05:22Speaker 4: You can't cut on with marketing.
- 1:05:24Speaker 3: So here are his questions for the crew. Do you
- 1:05:27Speaker 3: want hard knocks off season or training camp for the Patriots?
- 1:05:30Speaker 3: I'm loving the Giants off season show, but I don't
- 1:05:33Speaker 3: think I want that stuff to be out there for
- 1:05:34Speaker 3: my team. Man, Yeah, I.
- 1:05:37Speaker 9: Would be jealous of the Like I'd be like, I
- 1:05:40Speaker 9: want that access.
- 1:05:42Speaker 3: The Giants to prove that. Yeah, so like I had
- 1:05:44Speaker 3: somebody in my own thing. I can't believe that's what
- 1:05:47Speaker 3: the Giants said. That was okay. So apparently they were
- 1:05:50Speaker 3: fine with it.
- 1:05:51Speaker 10: Was it the NFL like gun the head, this is okay.
- 1:05:54Speaker 3: That's the way to not have hard knocks anymore, is
- 1:05:57Speaker 3: that teams start complaining about that. I think NFL Films
- 1:06:02Speaker 3: has been famously cooperative with the teams. They don't let
- 1:06:07Speaker 3: things go out that the teams don't want to get
- 1:06:09Speaker 3: out there.
- 1:06:09Speaker 4: It's got to be that true.
- 1:06:10Speaker 3: Now, I'm sure they they urge them a little. Hey,
- 1:06:13Speaker 3: come on, can we just use this. I'm sure there's
- 1:06:15Speaker 3: a lot of that, but at the end of the day,
- 1:06:17Speaker 3: the team has final say.
- 1:06:18Speaker 5: Yeah, I think Hard Knocks.
- 1:06:21Speaker 10: I'm going to be very intrigued by the Hard Knocks
- 1:06:22Speaker 10: Division or Division series.
- 1:06:25Speaker 5: I think that would be cool. It's like Pats Jets.
- 1:06:27Speaker 4: I just like they're changing it up because it's like
- 1:06:29Speaker 4: you can only see so many times training camp like oh,
- 1:06:31Speaker 4: this is gonna be a tough cut, or all this
- 1:06:33Speaker 4: guy's undrafted and he's really making a push, or you know,
- 1:06:36Speaker 4: like oh, here's this you know, this guy's family while
- 1:06:38Speaker 4: he's gone at training camp.
- 1:06:39Speaker 6: Are the.
- 1:06:41Speaker 4: Stories kind of seeing all that? But I don't know,
- 1:06:44Speaker 4: it would be interesting, just especially from the perspective of
- 1:06:46Speaker 4: this show, because if we were seeing all the things
- 1:06:49Speaker 4: that we're seeing with the giants behind the scenes, like
- 1:06:51Speaker 4: it would be very interesting to come in here and
- 1:06:53Speaker 4: talk about it, or you know, be like, you know,
- 1:06:56Speaker 4: my god, you know Elliot Wolf saying exactly what Paul
- 1:06:58Speaker 4: just said, you know, like those kinds of things where
- 1:07:01Speaker 4: or they're saying exactly opposite of what we were saying.
- 1:07:04Speaker 6: Yeah, I think it'd be cool.
- 1:07:06Speaker 4: I don't know. I hear Alex's point though, of like, well,
- 1:07:09Speaker 4: everyone gets to see this now, and you know.
- 1:07:10Speaker 6: It's not like you'd like to like that kind of special.
- 1:07:13Speaker 9: Access, and we would be like learning what people's offices
- 1:07:15Speaker 9: look like from the TV.
- 1:07:19Speaker 3: Let's see. DARPN also says while the Patriots staff is
- 1:07:23Speaker 3: getting filmed, what would be your fight club? As in,
- 1:07:26Speaker 3: we don't talk about fight club. Mine is Mahomes, Chiefs
- 1:07:29Speaker 3: and Andy Reid. No one should be ever in any
- 1:07:33Speaker 3: context making any comparisons with them. It only serves to
- 1:07:36Speaker 3: make you look stupid. Not sure I get what he's
- 1:07:41Speaker 3: so like things that you just shouldn't say if you're
- 1:07:43Speaker 3: on hard knocks.
- 1:07:44Speaker 4: So like anything about another team or well, you know,
- 1:07:47Speaker 4: like Drake is having a good game, he's looking very Mahomes.
- 1:07:50Speaker 5: I would just don't mention anything from the past twenty years.
- 1:07:52Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, I know, that's I mean, especially if it
- 1:07:55Speaker 4: came here next year, that would be yeah. Like, because
- 1:07:57Speaker 4: people are ears up for either trying to carry over
- 1:08:02Speaker 4: things from the past or trying to end things from
- 1:08:04Speaker 4: the past, regardless of what they are. That's everyone's radars
- 1:08:06Speaker 4: up for that but at least if you were a
- 1:08:07Speaker 4: year removed, you'd probably have a little less of that.
- 1:08:11Speaker 3: And who would be the most compelling person overall on
- 1:08:14Speaker 3: offense on defense? Bonus, if your choice on offense was Drake,
- 1:08:17Speaker 3: may give me your second place choice. So it's still
- 1:08:21Speaker 3: talking about heart here.
- 1:08:22Speaker 4: Who's the most compelling Kendrick Porn or Douglas like you know,
- 1:08:26Speaker 4: the the receivers with personality who are out in the world,
- 1:08:28Speaker 4: and you know Marcus Jones. I think I mean golfing music.
- 1:08:34Speaker 10: I think I think the thing is people would want
- 1:08:35Speaker 10: Christian Gonzales and then just like, oh he's.
- 1:08:38Speaker 4: Very he's very quiet.
- 1:08:39Speaker 5: That's the thing.
- 1:08:39Speaker 10: I think it'd be like, oh, now you get to
- 1:08:41Speaker 10: see what we deal.
- 1:08:44Speaker 2: This year.
- 1:08:44Speaker 3: Yeah, push him. I wonder what Gonzales is going to
- 1:08:48Speaker 3: be like this year besides how he plays, Like, what's
- 1:08:53Speaker 3: his personality island assassin?
- 1:08:55Speaker 8: I did a community event with him recently.
- 1:08:57Speaker 9: He was wonderful at the community event, super talkative with
- 1:09:00Speaker 9: the kids, opened up about actually a lot.
- 1:09:03Speaker 8: I think I think it'll be a good character for us.
- 1:09:06Speaker 4: Hope.
- 1:09:06Speaker 6: So I mean White, if Kem White can kind of
- 1:09:08Speaker 6: start to.
- 1:09:09Speaker 8: I almost talk. I almost hope he just like we.
- 1:09:14Speaker 3: Got to do stuff with his girlfriend too, right? Who's
- 1:09:17Speaker 3: that Gonzales? Who isn't Jonathan Jones? Jonathan Jones's girlfriend is
- 1:09:27Speaker 3: from so now Brazil is a home market for the Patriots.
- 1:09:31Speaker 3: There we go just like Germany.
- 1:09:32Speaker 8: She'd be great, she has great instam following.
- 1:09:37Speaker 3: Got to get stuff with her.
- 1:09:40Speaker 12: Uh.
- 1:09:40Speaker 3: Kyle and Pembroke writes in if you could add one
- 1:09:42Speaker 3: Belichick era Patriots to this team besides Brady, Gronk and Moss,
- 1:09:47Speaker 3: who would you add? Uh?
- 1:09:51Speaker 4: I mean, I like, take your pick of pass rushers,
- 1:09:54Speaker 4: you know, Willie McGinnis, which should be nice or left tackles.
- 1:09:57Speaker 6: Pass rushers are left tackles. I mean probably Matt Light.
- 1:10:01Speaker 4: I guess I wouldn't.
- 1:10:02Speaker 3: I'm the first person that came to mind for me,
- 1:10:05Speaker 3: believe it or not. Was Welker Me too? Me too?
- 1:10:08Speaker 3: Like somebody a binky for Drake Man A chainmoder Yeah,
- 1:10:13Speaker 3: pretty really really reliable, always makes the catch, you know,
- 1:10:18Speaker 3: a critical third down plays.
- 1:10:19Speaker 4: I feel like we at least have guys that are
- 1:10:21Speaker 4: in that genre, though, where like you just you don't
- 1:10:24Speaker 4: have a.
- 1:10:24Speaker 6: Game changing Randy Moss.
- 1:10:26Speaker 3: But I can't other than Randy Moss I can't think
- 1:10:28Speaker 3: of somebody.
- 1:10:29Speaker 8: I feel for me, it has to be a receiver.
- 1:10:31Speaker 22: I don't know, Branch, Troy Brown, yea Troy Brown in
- 1:10:36Speaker 22: his prime, Rodney Yeah, McGinnis, rabele Broose, bring back Seymour.
- 1:10:43Speaker 4: Seymour, sure, I mean he'd be I mean any of
- 1:10:46Speaker 4: our players that could be.
- 1:10:48Speaker 3: How different would Seymour look? Would Gerard Mayo as his
- 1:10:53Speaker 3: head coach than he did with Bill Belichick? Would he,
- 1:10:55Speaker 3: you know, unleash the kraken a little bit more?
- 1:10:58Speaker 6: I mean give into nerd talk.
- 1:11:00Speaker 4: I mean I think it's a little bit schematically different.
- 1:11:03Speaker 4: Where back then with Seymour they played so much three
- 1:11:05Speaker 4: four front right, So now it's kind of more two
- 1:11:08Speaker 4: big body guys. And I almost wonder if Richard Seymour
- 1:11:11Speaker 4: will be more effective in the modern imagine him next
- 1:11:15Speaker 4: to Barmore, well him and you know him and Barmore,
- 1:11:17Speaker 4: so he can do both things. But instead of always
- 1:11:19Speaker 4: dealing with tackles, he's dealing a little more frequently with
- 1:11:22Speaker 4: guards and centers too. So you know, I think those
- 1:11:25Speaker 4: those could be an advantage for Seymour. I mean he
- 1:11:27Speaker 4: I think he could thrive in any scheme and have
- 1:11:29Speaker 4: done anything he was a Hall of Famer.
- 1:11:30Speaker 6: But yeah, I think I'd.
- 1:11:32Speaker 4: Be interested to see how they used him in this one. Now,
- 1:11:35Speaker 4: how they do things differently, you know, not as much bass.
- 1:11:38Speaker 3: He's not. Neither one of them are Belichick era guys.
- 1:11:43Speaker 3: But what about either Ben Coates or Russ Francis.
- 1:11:47Speaker 6: Beast, I mean tight ends. Can they can run?
- 1:11:50Speaker 4: I mean one of the one of the little nuggets
- 1:11:52Speaker 4: that I got from the FTN dbo A thing was
- 1:11:55Speaker 4: like Hunter Henry is like the ultimate catch and fall
- 1:11:58Speaker 4: down guy, which everybody knows that, but it was like
- 1:12:00Speaker 4: he was like the league lowest in like yards after catch.
- 1:12:03Speaker 6: So but I mean it's fine. He's effective red zone touchdown.
- 1:12:07Speaker 3: A five yard that.
- 1:12:09Speaker 4: As the quarterback, and you know, like the offense, you
- 1:12:11Speaker 4: know he's getting it on, getting it hot like you
- 1:12:14Speaker 4: right on top.
- 1:12:14Speaker 10: We talked about last week with Jakobe Myers, like he
- 1:12:16Speaker 10: always catched the ball, like that's always the boom goes down.
- 1:12:21Speaker 3: All right, So you want to give me some nut
- 1:12:22Speaker 3: that you've been holding your No, no, I do.
- 1:12:24Speaker 4: I think it's good, And I think we might try
- 1:12:25Speaker 4: to get Aaron Shots, who who was, you know, the
- 1:12:27Speaker 4: purveyor of dv O A and again it is at
- 1:12:30Speaker 4: FTN now no longer football Outsiders. So but these are
- 1:12:33Speaker 4: just some deuced nuggets, you know, nothing crazy, just you
- 1:12:35Speaker 4: know topics. It's it's maybe i'll spit something out and
- 1:12:38Speaker 4: you guys will be interested. But the big one is
- 1:12:40Speaker 4: the projection of wins, and they do have a mean
- 1:12:43Speaker 4: projection of seven point one Wow wins.
- 1:12:46Speaker 3: That's that's pretty high. And now what's the reasoning?
- 1:12:49Speaker 6: So well, let me let me get through a little.
- 1:12:50Speaker 4: Just in terms of overall on the clock zero to
- 1:12:53Speaker 4: five or zero to fifth overall pick twenty six percent
- 1:12:56Speaker 4: chance mediocrity is six to eight, uh, overall on the
- 1:13:00Speaker 4: forty six percent and playoff contender ninth to eleventh in
- 1:13:03Speaker 4: the draft twenty five percent, So they're a little bit
- 1:13:07Speaker 4: higher on that. I mean, there's definitely some you know,
- 1:13:10Speaker 4: murky you know, as to where they are, but six
- 1:13:13Speaker 4: to eight sounds like where they.
- 1:13:14Speaker 3: So if he's get Patriots higher than most, he's got
- 1:13:18Speaker 3: to have some teams lower than most.
- 1:13:20Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:13:20Speaker 4: Well, well, and I haven't gone through all the other
- 1:13:22Speaker 4: teams that I have done the AFCs, but I mean,
- 1:13:24Speaker 4: just for for comparison's sake, which I thought was interesting,
- 1:13:27Speaker 4: they have their you know, their projected wins over the
- 1:13:30Speaker 4: last four seasons. They estimated so twenty nineteen estimated eleven wins,
- 1:13:34Speaker 4: Patriots got twelve. Twenty twenty estimated seven point seven wins
- 1:13:38Speaker 4: they got seven. Twenty twenty one they estimated nine wins,
- 1:13:41Speaker 4: they got ten. Twenty twenty two, eight wins they got eight.
- 1:13:44Speaker 4: Last year five wins they got four. So last five
- 1:13:47Speaker 4: years they're pretty close in the in the in the environment. Now,
- 1:13:51Speaker 4: I'd like to just read a brief a brief passage
- 1:13:54Speaker 4: which I think Alex, especially.
- 1:13:55Speaker 3: With find recording to do.
- 1:13:57Speaker 6: No, this is good. This is good.
- 1:13:58Speaker 4: Though, this is the second paragraph of the Patriots preview,
- 1:14:00Speaker 4: which I'm gonna read because that has a direct impact
- 1:14:02Speaker 4: on some of the people in this room. Here. Mayo's
- 1:14:05Speaker 4: appointment as head coach marks a pivotal shift in the
- 1:14:07Speaker 4: Patriots approach. Unlike the secretive and often stoic nature Belichick,
- 1:14:11Speaker 4: Mayo brings a fresh perspective and openness to the team.
- 1:14:13Speaker 6: A few weeks.
- 1:14:14Speaker 4: Before the twenty twenty four draft, Mayo gave a candidate
- 1:14:16Speaker 4: interview in which he openly said the team was was
- 1:14:18Speaker 4: going to draft a quarterback. This marked the first stark
- 1:14:21Speaker 4: departure from the belichicking way. Even the Patriots social media
- 1:14:25Speaker 4: presence has shifted, with the team posting Goofy Goodwill Hunting
- 1:14:28Speaker 4: inspired parodies featuring current and former players, Mayo and others
- 1:14:31Speaker 4: inside the Patriots building. It's simply a more intimate look
- 1:14:34Speaker 4: inside the franchise. None of this is by coincidence. It
- 1:14:37Speaker 4: is a deliberate effort to usher in the new era.
- 1:14:40Speaker 6: Wow, that's kind of fun. A little shout out to
- 1:14:43Speaker 6: good Jewelry.
- 1:14:45Speaker 3: The year before.
- 1:14:48Speaker 9: I know, I think Gerard being in it was a
- 1:14:50Speaker 9: big sitting point for people for sure.
- 1:14:52Speaker 4: For sure branded by so just to throw some other
- 1:14:56Speaker 4: these are kind of rapid fire, but you know, just
- 1:14:58Speaker 4: like adjusted notes.
- 1:15:01Speaker 6: And this is actually I'm gonna save.
- 1:15:02Speaker 4: This one to the end because I think that's a
- 1:15:03Speaker 4: bigger conversation. But uh, seventh straight seasons Patriots defense has
- 1:15:07Speaker 4: been in the top five of broken tackles, so very
- 1:15:10Speaker 4: very good tackling defense. And one of the points that
- 1:15:13Speaker 4: they make in this is the kid. We talk about
- 1:15:15Speaker 4: the carry over from Belichick to Covington and Mayo. Does
- 1:15:17Speaker 4: that continue that?
- 1:15:18Speaker 3: In other words, they don't, they don't misstack, they don't.
- 1:15:21Speaker 6: They were top five last five.
- 1:15:23Speaker 8: Years, contrary to what Twitter during a game makes.
- 1:15:26Speaker 4: You think, Yeah, twenty twenty three Patriots, oh face more
- 1:15:30Speaker 4: man to man than anyone else. I think that's to
- 1:15:32Speaker 4: your point, Fred, you don't scare anybody.
- 1:15:35Speaker 6: They just man you up. You're not gonna beat us
- 1:15:37Speaker 6: one on one.
- 1:15:39Speaker 4: Back to the defense. Twenty fourth pressure rate on first
- 1:15:41Speaker 4: and second down, their second on third and fourth down,
- 1:15:44Speaker 4: so early down kind of problems getting after the rusher,
- 1:15:47Speaker 4: but they're pretty good once they get to third down
- 1:15:49Speaker 4: and can scheme things up. But with the loss of
- 1:15:51Speaker 4: Judon last year, they led the league in defensive backsacks
- 1:15:55Speaker 4: and people coming from the secondary. So it just kind
- 1:15:58Speaker 4: of illustrates what they had to do without judea On
- 1:16:01Speaker 4: in the mix.
- 1:16:01Speaker 6: They really had to get creative without and.
- 1:16:04Speaker 3: You know, again we lost Steve Belichick and his and
- 1:16:07Speaker 3: Bill and I think those two minds were really good
- 1:16:11Speaker 3: at adjusting and you know, using what you have in
- 1:16:15Speaker 3: different ways.
- 1:16:16Speaker 4: Especially on third down when it's time to get creative.
- 1:16:20Speaker 4: Last year, Patriots only recovered eleven of thirty two fumbles,
- 1:16:23Speaker 4: So that's a regret.
- 1:16:25Speaker 3: In the ground. You came up with only eleven.
- 1:16:27Speaker 4: So that's a regression to the meansta, I think you
- 1:16:29Speaker 4: talked on Tuesday about something the defense needs to do
- 1:16:31Speaker 4: force more turnovers last year, that's just an example of
- 1:16:34Speaker 4: they kind of forced more, but they didn't really benefit.
- 1:16:37Speaker 6: Probably should should be up.
- 1:16:39Speaker 4: The second fewest opponent penalties in the.
- 1:16:42Speaker 6: League to Chicago.
- 1:16:43Speaker 4: So you know, we talked about Patriots getting all the
- 1:16:45Speaker 4: calls like they they did not.
- 1:16:47Speaker 3: So the other teams weren't called a lot.
- 1:16:49Speaker 4: The other teams were, you know, getting more penalties. Yeah,
- 1:16:55Speaker 4: against it, just a couple more to share with you guys.
- 1:17:00Speaker 4: Thought Devon Godchaw has an interesting player, and you know
- 1:17:02Speaker 4: they do have specific players. One thing that they point
- 1:17:05Speaker 4: out about Devon Godshaw a lot of tackles, not a
- 1:17:07Speaker 4: lot of stops. Now a stop is like you stop
- 1:17:10Speaker 4: them short of the line to gain or it's you know,
- 1:17:12Speaker 4: qualified as a victory. That's a big part of this
- 1:17:14Speaker 4: DV away status. Like you know, if it's the third
- 1:17:16Speaker 4: and two, did you get three? You know not if
- 1:17:19Speaker 4: it's you know, when you get you need, how you
- 1:17:21Speaker 4: get what you need. So just really near the bottom
- 1:17:24Speaker 4: of the league in terms of run stops that you know,
- 1:17:27Speaker 4: actually making a play on the ball. So I thought
- 1:17:29Speaker 4: that was topical, and then I would say the last
- 1:17:32Speaker 4: point is that they really like my gotcha bril Peppers,
- 1:17:36Speaker 4: uh top three safeties versus the pass and d v
- 1:17:39Speaker 4: o A yards allowed for pass and success rate.
- 1:17:41Speaker 6: I like him, so I had to throw that one.
- 1:17:43Speaker 2: I love him.
- 1:17:44Speaker 4: He he is, you know, garnering some elite praise. One
- 1:17:47Speaker 4: last point I make to his you know, last year,
- 1:17:49Speaker 4: I think we a couple of years ago, Evan said
- 1:17:51Speaker 4: it like Fantasy era, the advanced analytics didn't love Jacoby Myers.
- 1:17:55Speaker 4: They don't love Demario Douglas either. I don't know if
- 1:17:56Speaker 4: it's that kind of player, but he's another players. So
- 1:18:00Speaker 4: lots of great stuff in this I highly recommend pick
- 1:18:02Speaker 4: it up FTN. Like I said, we'll try to get
- 1:18:04Speaker 4: shots on the show interview him.
- 1:18:06Speaker 6: But I was, you know, pleasantly surprised by seven point one.
- 1:18:09Speaker 6: I think that's what did they do?
- 1:18:11Speaker 3: They do things differently than some of these other analytics.
- 1:18:15Speaker 4: I mean, the core, the core of this stat is
- 1:18:17Speaker 4: it's not predictive, it's what happened, and it just tells
- 1:18:20Speaker 4: you how long did they get what they needed to get?
- 1:18:22Speaker 4: You know, Then the comparison I kind of hinted at
- 1:18:25Speaker 4: was you know, first and ten you get two yards
- 1:18:27Speaker 4: that is not successful.
- 1:18:28Speaker 6: Third and one you get two.
- 1:18:29Speaker 4: Yards that is successful. So it really that's kind of
- 1:18:32Speaker 4: the heart of their statistics, you know. But there it's great.
- 1:18:35Speaker 4: It's one of the ones I use. It's not really again, predictive,
- 1:18:37Speaker 4: it's not something you say, but it's it's just a
- 1:18:40Speaker 4: really good, good number that doesn't you know, I don't know.
- 1:18:43Speaker 4: I don't get lost in the whole epa of it
- 1:18:44Speaker 4: all and all those things. I know those are other ones.
- 1:18:46Speaker 4: But they do it really well.
- 1:18:47Speaker 3: They invented DVA.
- 1:18:49Speaker 4: Aaron shots invented DVOA. They've been doing it forever. It's
- 1:18:52Speaker 4: personally one of my favorite stats to kind of look
- 1:18:54Speaker 4: at and you know, stack up how teams did.
- 1:18:56Speaker 6: But the thirty two team previews.
- 1:18:59Speaker 4: And you know, really thorough all the players. So yeah,
- 1:19:01Speaker 4: it's a great it's a great read. It's one of
- 1:19:02Speaker 4: my favorite things. I don't know if they did it
- 1:19:04Speaker 4: last year it was they had a falling out with
- 1:19:06Speaker 4: football outsiders, so bookod stuff. Little high on the Patriots.
- 1:19:09Speaker 10: Oh, the seven wins is interesting because like I'll be
- 1:19:11Speaker 10: throwed if they get seven wins. But like we were,
- 1:19:13Speaker 10: we were a missed field goal and a couple Aaron
- 1:19:17Speaker 10: throws away from seven wins? Are we just going to
- 1:19:19Speaker 10: be the same team with just a slightly better quarterback
- 1:19:22Speaker 10: like Pats were really close to show? Yeah, but that's
- 1:19:26Speaker 10: the NFL.
- 1:19:26Speaker 3: True, you know, that's the NFL, and that's what separates
- 1:19:29Speaker 3: it's not doing those stupid things. Eight five to five
- 1:19:32Speaker 3: pass five hundred is a ticket houtline. Brian's in Oregon.
- 1:19:35Speaker 3: What's up? Brian?
- 1:19:36Speaker 23: Hey, guys, how are you doing today?
- 1:19:38Speaker 2: Good?
- 1:19:39Speaker 23: You actually just hit on a roughlye what I want
- 1:19:42Speaker 23: to talk about. I'm stuck between emotions from this team
- 1:19:46Speaker 23: because I've been a long time saying back to the eighties.
- 1:19:50Speaker 23: I'm starred from the last couple of years of the
- 1:19:54Speaker 23: way the team has kind of fallen, the coaching, the
- 1:19:57Speaker 23: lack of offensive talent. But I'm excited for this year
- 1:20:01Speaker 23: to see what they do. I'm a little worried about
- 1:20:03Speaker 23: the coaching and the lack of Belichick and some of
- 1:20:07Speaker 23: the changing of the defense, But as far as the
- 1:20:10Speaker 23: wins for the year, I have a would you rather
- 1:20:14Speaker 23: for you guys, and that is would you rather the
- 1:20:17Speaker 23: Patriots win seven games this year? But they play the
- 1:20:21Speaker 23: same style of games they did, which was awful offensively,
- 1:20:26Speaker 23: just ten to six, you know, six nothing, just brutal
- 1:20:29Speaker 23: games to watch. Or would you rather than win two
- 1:20:32Speaker 23: games but then be more entertaining losing you know, thirty
- 1:20:36Speaker 23: four to thirty one, you know, thirty twenty eight, that
- 1:20:40Speaker 23: sort of thing and see some development in the offense.
- 1:20:43Speaker 5: Is the seven wins? Drake May like? Is he play well?
- 1:20:46Speaker 5: Is like?
- 1:20:47Speaker 3: Is it well? You just said it's just like thirty
- 1:20:49Speaker 3: to twenty eight, So obviously he has with the two wins. Yeah,
- 1:20:51Speaker 3: with the two wins, seven wins, so you're scoring, he said,
- 1:20:54Speaker 3: more entertaining offensively, he said, but what happens? More entertaining,
- 1:20:58Speaker 3: but now your defense is dropped off?
- 1:20:59Speaker 10: Right, Well, I think with the seven, if you do
- 1:21:02Speaker 10: seven wins, then you might have missed on Drake May too.
- 1:21:04Speaker 10: So I'll take the two.
- 1:21:06Speaker 3: Yeah, I think. In other words, just like before you called,
- 1:21:10Speaker 3: Brian Latist was saying last year, the difference between four
- 1:21:15Speaker 3: wins and seven wins was just a couple of plays
- 1:21:18Speaker 3: that but it wouldn't have looked any better, you know.
- 1:21:22Speaker 23: Right, they were still they were still trains to watch.
- 1:21:24Speaker 5: Right, I'll take the two because there's a lot.
- 1:21:28Speaker 8: You know, it's so demoralizing.
- 1:21:30Speaker 9: Almost win every time, Like what does that do to you?
- 1:21:34Speaker 9: But you have capitalize, Yeah, but you can't execute it.
- 1:21:36Speaker 3: But now we go so like so you lose every
- 1:21:39Speaker 3: game thirty to twenty eight or thirty five thirty. Now
- 1:21:42Speaker 3: you go into next year saying we got to rebuild
- 1:21:44Speaker 3: our defense.
- 1:21:44Speaker 6: I know, I know it's hard.
- 1:21:45Speaker 4: It's hard for me to see them being a thirty
- 1:21:47Speaker 4: point team per game and they only win two games,
- 1:21:49Speaker 4: But I would probably take the two just because I'm
- 1:21:52Speaker 4: so sick of watching what he just described. It's horrible,
- 1:21:55Speaker 4: the defense trying to and the offense. Just thanks Brian,
- 1:21:58Speaker 4: watched that movie enough for couple.
- 1:22:00Speaker 10: Of years, Like I'm excited to see Matt Judon take
- 1:22:02Speaker 10: the field and they don't need to watch two three
- 1:22:04Speaker 10: and outs, Like yeah, I know, if Drake if we're
- 1:22:07Speaker 10: if we go two and whatever it is, and Drake
- 1:22:08Speaker 10: May is throwing three hundred yards and three touchdowns maybe
- 1:22:10Speaker 10: one pick.
- 1:22:11Speaker 5: I am final.
- 1:22:12Speaker 9: I know it's a problem when you're taking your bathroom
- 1:22:14Speaker 9: break when you're like, okay, I'll wait till the offense
- 1:22:15Speaker 9: is back on.
- 1:22:16Speaker 3: The like or you're watching red zone off the pass
- 1:22:18Speaker 3: are on, like, but I think that's unlikely, you know,
- 1:22:23Speaker 3: to you know, to have him play that well and
- 1:22:26Speaker 3: have the defense dropped off as that much. I hope
- 1:22:29Speaker 3: that's unlikely.
- 1:22:30Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean, growing pains are all right.
- 1:22:32Speaker 4: I don't expect them to you know, be a thirty
- 1:22:34Speaker 4: point per game offense, but you know, a couple of
- 1:22:36Speaker 4: explosions like that would be would be nice.
- 1:22:38Speaker 8: Especially say some of the good teams too. And it's
- 1:22:40Speaker 8: a schedule.
- 1:22:41Speaker 3: You want that game where say this is the game
- 1:22:43Speaker 3: that Drake may.
- 1:22:45Speaker 15: An NFL quarter But coming out game it's hard though too,
- 1:22:47Speaker 15: because I mean I was talking, you know, we talked
- 1:22:50Speaker 15: to beating the season a little bit, mentioned a bunch
- 1:22:52Speaker 15: of the ninety four season where they you know, they
- 1:22:53Speaker 15: finished strong, and like just looking at the schedule with
- 1:22:56Speaker 15: the late.
- 1:22:56Speaker 4: Bye and then the final four games at Arizona, at Buffalo,
- 1:23:00Speaker 4: the lack here and then Buffalo.
- 1:23:02Speaker 6: Just a challenge with those two Buffalo games to really.
- 1:23:05Speaker 4: Put up a kind of performance, specifically with those last
- 1:23:08Speaker 4: two games that you're going to carry some excitement away. Like,
- 1:23:11Speaker 4: I mean, both games are pretty close last year, so
- 1:23:13Speaker 4: you know, hopefully they would be able to hang in there.
- 1:23:15Speaker 4: But it's it's still it's not like you had, Like
- 1:23:17Speaker 4: I mean, maybe they hammer Arizona and then the lack
- 1:23:20Speaker 4: looks like they wish they were still in California, and
- 1:23:22Speaker 4: you know, they hammer them and then maybe that that's
- 1:23:24Speaker 4: a that's a positive sign. But I just think specific
- 1:23:27Speaker 4: to those two Buffalo matchups, what do you expect? How
- 1:23:29Speaker 4: do they end the season here at home against Buffalo?
- 1:23:32Speaker 4: Who I mean, maybe Buffalo's sitting starters at that most.
- 1:23:35Speaker 10: Potential for a little mid season run. Yeah, around London
- 1:23:38Speaker 10: game and after it's just a little interesting.
- 1:23:40Speaker 4: Yeah, we had some jets at Tennessee at Chicago.
- 1:23:44Speaker 6: I mean it took again when people get all like with.
- 1:23:46Speaker 4: A schedule, I mean, that's as easy as it's going
- 1:23:50Speaker 4: to get in the NFL, I feel like.
- 1:23:51Speaker 6: I mean, and who knows what Aaron Rodgers is doing
- 1:23:53Speaker 6: at that point.
- 1:23:54Speaker 4: But like Will Levi's you know, rookie Chicago guys the
- 1:23:59Speaker 4: halfway through their season.
- 1:24:00Speaker 10: Like Rams coming to the East Coast, like you know,
- 1:24:04Speaker 10: oh come on, maybe I don't know.
- 1:24:07Speaker 3: Just the defense has to kind of hold the ground.
- 1:24:11Speaker 3: I look at the defense this year as sort of
- 1:24:12Speaker 3: a middle reliever, just hold the fort down until we
- 1:24:16Speaker 3: can maybe score some runs, you know.
- 1:24:18Speaker 6: Isn't too much to ask.
- 1:24:19Speaker 4: And that's you know, going back to Andy's thing where
- 1:24:21Speaker 4: it's like, I don't think they have to be elite
- 1:24:24Speaker 4: and the top three defense and you can only allow
- 1:24:26Speaker 4: ten points, Like that's not the expectation.
- 1:24:29Speaker 6: They can still be good enough.
- 1:24:30Speaker 4: And I think, you know, going back to the turnovers,
- 1:24:32Speaker 4: I think just getting more turnovers Jonathan Jones Gonzalez back,
- 1:24:36Speaker 4: like those guys they got, they got to get their
- 1:24:38Speaker 4: hands on some balls and take them away, and that
- 1:24:40Speaker 4: I think will really be a spark for the offense
- 1:24:42Speaker 4: that the offense didn't even get last year.
- 1:24:43Speaker 3: Really to be honest, all right, Chris from Virginia. More importantly,
- 1:24:48Speaker 3: he says, you guys have to try corn on the
- 1:24:50Speaker 3: cob in an air fryer four hundred degrees from twelve
- 1:24:53Speaker 3: to fifteen minutes. Spray the corn with spray, butter or oil,
- 1:24:56Speaker 3: a little bit occasion seizing or old bay.
- 1:25:00Speaker 5: He added that needed.
- 1:25:01Speaker 8: I'm intrigued.
- 1:25:03Speaker 3: Nothing better than good corn in the cop We're getting
- 1:25:05Speaker 3: close to it right now, getting close to the season.
- 1:25:07Speaker 8: I think it started a little early because I.
- 1:25:09Speaker 10: Had a really crazy video of a guy who bit
- 1:25:11Speaker 10: the whole he ate the corn.
- 1:25:12Speaker 5: But he bit into the cob and your purpose he
- 1:25:17Speaker 5: did it. Yes, it was insane and he ate it.
- 1:25:20Speaker 5: He ate it. It's a reaction one of those stitch videos.
- 1:25:22Speaker 5: He just like he was like this is good and
- 1:25:24Speaker 5: bit into the cob. Ate the whole thing.
- 1:25:27Speaker 6: Is the Cape known for corn? Or is that just
- 1:25:29Speaker 6: because I always get corn up there?
- 1:25:31Speaker 3: The Cape is Jersey is where you get Jersey corn. Absolutely,
- 1:25:36Speaker 3: it's the thing. Yeah, yeah, corn. I mean everyone thinks
- 1:25:39Speaker 3: Iowa and all that, and they probably get it earlier
- 1:25:42Speaker 3: in the season, but you know, mid to late August
- 1:25:45Speaker 3: September Jersey corn.
- 1:25:47Speaker 4: There's just such a difference though. When you get like
- 1:25:49Speaker 4: that early season.
- 1:25:50Speaker 8: Corn can smell it, smell it.
- 1:25:52Speaker 6: Like it's just so much more juicy. It's a big.
- 1:25:55Speaker 8: Kernels butter on the grill.
- 1:25:59Speaker 4: Love it and you got somebody's like here, let me
- 1:26:01Speaker 4: dip it in Mayo real quick, like wa wa whoa,
- 1:26:03Speaker 4: whoa whoa jail like you know, the like the Mexican
- 1:26:06Speaker 4: street corn that they do.
- 1:26:08Speaker 6: That is good though, that thing, it's you gotta be
- 1:26:11Speaker 6: right for you.
- 1:26:12Speaker 3: Were talking about I don't know if it was on
- 1:26:14Speaker 3: the air, but tacos earlier yeah, what makes a taco
- 1:26:18Speaker 3: a street taco?
- 1:26:19Speaker 6: Oh, well, usually there's soft tacos in there.
- 1:26:23Speaker 9: I don't know, you don't know soft taco messy cooked.
- 1:26:28Speaker 4: On the side, just like meat, like cilantro and onions.
- 1:26:33Speaker 8: Really simple.
- 1:26:34Speaker 3: That's I don't know.
- 1:26:36Speaker 10: Street like street tacos have a small corn tortilla base,
- 1:26:41Speaker 10: making them easy to grab and go.
- 1:26:43Speaker 6: Yeah, well there you go.
- 1:26:44Speaker 8: I did say that's messy.
- 1:26:46Speaker 3: We's messy.
- 1:26:46Speaker 21: Yea.
- 1:26:47Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:26:48Speaker 3: I like my tacos crunchy.
- 1:26:50Speaker 8: I like the place I was telling you about. You
- 1:26:53Speaker 8: should check that out. It's opening. It's in Dennis Taco
- 1:26:58Speaker 8: the it's a food it's a little food truck. Yeah, no,
- 1:27:04Speaker 8: it's good. They have like the Bria style.
- 1:27:06Speaker 5: So it's like, that's the best.
- 1:27:10Speaker 8: I don't know what to say it. It's like a
- 1:27:12Speaker 8: It's like there's a word in porg called more.
- 1:27:14Speaker 9: It's like the marinade that is cooked in Yeah, so
- 1:27:18Speaker 9: you can dip the hard taco into.
- 1:27:20Speaker 5: That and then they fry it.
- 1:27:22Speaker 8: They fry it in the sauce.
- 1:27:23Speaker 4: To you haven't lived.
- 1:27:28Speaker 8: So close to you too. I love Taco bell. I
- 1:27:31Speaker 8: love Taco Bell.
- 1:27:32Speaker 4: When I lived in La I still remember the first
- 1:27:33Speaker 4: time I was like, I think I'll try this taco place.
- 1:27:35Speaker 4: And and I had only ever been to Taco Bell here,
- 1:27:37Speaker 4: like Taco Bell and El Too, those are the only
- 1:27:40Speaker 4: two Mexican food and like wool Baby, it was.
- 1:27:44Speaker 9: You and Lane would love this place next time you're
- 1:27:46Speaker 9: in Dennis. Because they're from They're from Dojuana and then.
- 1:27:49Speaker 8: Grew up in San Diego and now for whatever reason
- 1:27:52Speaker 8: they are they.
- 1:27:53Speaker 3: In that Patriot Plaza.
- 1:27:55Speaker 9: Are No, it's like a random do you know across
- 1:27:59Speaker 9: the couffee the big cuffees.
- 1:28:01Speaker 4: Down on twenty eight I think it's.
- 1:28:04Speaker 8: On twenty eight. It's a big coffees and porium right
- 1:28:06Speaker 8: across the street. It's a little We were.
- 1:28:08Speaker 3: Just west Nnis. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:28:12Speaker 4: We were just at that new cuffeees. That thing's crazy.
- 1:28:14Speaker 9: Well it was a rainy day when I went, and
- 1:28:16Speaker 9: the cuffees was swamped and people were coming. So then
- 1:28:19Speaker 9: I got there at the perfect time because I ordered
- 1:28:21Speaker 9: my tacos and the guy was like, you just cleaned
- 1:28:23Speaker 9: me out.
- 1:28:24Speaker 8: I had to close like two hours early.
- 1:28:26Speaker 4: My sister was like, it's like Disneyland. And I went
- 1:28:28Speaker 4: there and I'm like expecting I'm like, this is.
- 1:28:29Speaker 9: Just I will say Cuffees quality unparallel. I have a
- 1:28:37Speaker 9: sweatshirt from the Provincetown Cuffees that I've had for fifteen
- 1:28:41Speaker 9: years and I still wear.
- 1:28:42Speaker 5: I had to throw.
- 1:28:42Speaker 6: I just had to throw some Cuffee sweat.
- 1:28:44Speaker 4: They lasted forever and it's good stuff.
- 1:28:47Speaker 3: Shout out Coffees, all right, Uh spain some merchant Yeah
- 1:28:52Speaker 3: speak spiing Fresno finally binged the last dance this week
- 1:28:59Speaker 3: A credible series. Just wanted to hear your thoughts broadly
- 1:29:06Speaker 3: comparing the Bulls dynasty to the Patriots dynasty run with
- 1:29:09Speaker 3: this uh whatever ways you want to, which for Mike
- 1:29:13Speaker 3: presumably means quietly uh pouting that hockey isn't involved. But like,
- 1:29:21Speaker 3: how do you compare the Bulls run to the Patriots run?
- 1:29:27Speaker 4: Well, I don't know.
- 1:29:28Speaker 8: I had a once in a generational player.
- 1:29:31Speaker 3: I mean they both had they had the great coach.
- 1:29:35Speaker 6: Based out there.
- 1:29:36Speaker 4: Maybe I'm wrong, correct me if I'm wrong, but I
- 1:29:37Speaker 4: feel like the Patriots had more. It was longer and
- 1:29:41Speaker 4: they were more kind of not I don't want to
- 1:29:42Speaker 4: say ebbs and flows because it was mostly flows, but
- 1:29:45Speaker 4: there were different teams like it was you know, it
- 1:29:47Speaker 4: would be like if well, Michael Jordan did it with
- 1:29:49Speaker 4: Pippin and all those guys, and then and then he
- 1:29:51Speaker 4: did it with a whole new team, Like I don't
- 1:29:53Speaker 4: gross like his team wasn't you know what I mean?
- 1:29:55Speaker 4: It was all kind of the same core right that
- 1:29:57Speaker 4: held their dynasty.
- 1:29:58Speaker 9: Basketball is so easy if you have two of those
- 1:30:01Speaker 9: crazy stars, you can change your whole dynamic.
- 1:30:04Speaker 8: Your team.
- 1:30:05Speaker 9: We're in football time and a time again we see
- 1:30:07Speaker 9: these teams get this player and you built hype it up,
- 1:30:10Speaker 9: and then it's just it's too hard of.
- 1:30:11Speaker 3: A bottom line, Patriots run better, longer, harder sport, too sport.
- 1:30:17Speaker 8: That's the thing.
- 1:30:17Speaker 2: I think.
- 1:30:20Speaker 9: Seasons and just playoffs more of a team sport, and
- 1:30:22Speaker 9: way more intangibles and fifty injury.
- 1:30:25Speaker 4: Guys and so many adjustments that have to happen.
- 1:30:28Speaker 10: And you know, Brady played through like three generations of
- 1:30:32Speaker 10: the NFL. You see that hit of him against the
- 1:30:34Speaker 10: Bills back in.
- 1:30:35Speaker 4: Two thousand, just launching himself.
- 1:30:38Speaker 5: And now you get touched into flag.
- 1:30:39Speaker 6: How many years?
- 1:30:40Speaker 4: What's the Bills? Is there like a number that people
- 1:30:42Speaker 4: have like I don't know when their first and last
- 1:30:44Speaker 4: titles were, but I just wonder what it is.
- 1:30:46Speaker 3: They won six? Right, how many did they win?
- 1:30:49Speaker 5: I thought you were trolling the Bills. I think that
- 1:30:50Speaker 5: the Bills real quick. They won six. It's six titles,
- 1:30:54Speaker 5: the Bulls with Jordan. Yeah.
- 1:30:57Speaker 3: Yeah, so I don't know, I don't know how long
- 1:31:01Speaker 3: their run was only maybe if there's a way that
- 1:31:05Speaker 3: you could look that up.
- 1:31:06Speaker 4: But still it was like the nineties, right, like it
- 1:31:08Speaker 4: was just the nineties.
- 1:31:09Speaker 3: Nineties, nineties wasn't even the seconds.
- 1:31:13Speaker 4: Yeah, last century.
- 1:31:15Speaker 3: But I don't think Phil Jackson is as good a
- 1:31:17Speaker 3: coaching basketball as Bill was in football.
- 1:31:20Speaker 4: Well it's interesting though, like, well, because don't you feel
- 1:31:25Speaker 4: like Phil's system.
- 1:31:28Speaker 3: It's only seven years.
- 1:31:29Speaker 4: Phil's system translated to the Lakers, and he had success
- 1:31:32Speaker 4: there too. I mean six Paul here to be like, well,
- 1:31:35Speaker 4: actually I don't know, I don't you know, enough nuggets
- 1:31:38Speaker 4: I to get myself in trouble, you know, but you know,
- 1:31:41Speaker 4: then the Lake person or the average fan.
- 1:31:45Speaker 3: So they won six titles two three peats to three peats. Wow,
- 1:31:51Speaker 3: that's pretty, that's pretty.
- 1:31:52Speaker 8: It's impressive.
- 1:31:53Speaker 4: Yeah, over nine years, it's just I mean, but but.
- 1:31:55Speaker 8: It's the greatest player.
- 1:31:56Speaker 4: Together, the greatest player with like a great men on
- 1:31:59Speaker 4: the cour Bill Russell R.
- 1:32:01Speaker 3: Right, they're playing against Sunny's car wash.
- 1:32:06Speaker 8: Don't bring up the old school basketball team.
- 1:32:09Speaker 3: George Mike and.
- 1:32:12Speaker 6: Back in the day.
- 1:32:13Speaker 4: Who's back?
- 1:32:14Speaker 8: Basketball is basketball?
- 1:32:16Speaker 2: Right? All right?
- 1:32:17Speaker 3: So got another half hour. So here's another debate that
- 1:32:21Speaker 3: I heard that I don't know. I'm not exactly sure
- 1:32:24Speaker 3: which side I take right now, but maybe somebody can
- 1:32:27Speaker 3: talk me in or out of it. So the Lakers
- 1:32:32Speaker 3: started counting the titles that they had in Minneapolis. We
- 1:32:35Speaker 3: started ye found out, you know, yeah, and Ia you know,
- 1:32:40Speaker 3: so they get so they have seventeen banners, so that
- 1:32:44Speaker 3: puts them up to seventeen. Without that, they're like.
- 1:32:47Speaker 9: The Lakers, but not the city of Los Angeles, right right.
- 1:32:50Speaker 9: I hate when people say the LA Lakers have seventeen.
- 1:32:52Speaker 3: No they do not, but that's what they're saying. You know,
- 1:32:55Speaker 3: it's no lakes.
- 1:32:55Speaker 8: People are, yeah, where's the lake?
- 1:32:58Speaker 3: So when you move your team, even if you're allowed
- 1:33:02Speaker 3: to bring the stats from the old team, when you
- 1:33:04Speaker 3: are you allowed to bring your titles with you, does
- 1:33:06Speaker 3: that count?
- 1:33:07Speaker 10: Like? So the Rams are they like? Can the Rams
- 1:33:09Speaker 10: in LA now count the greatest show on turf?
- 1:33:11Speaker 2: Right?
- 1:33:11Speaker 3: Can the Dodgers in La count Brooklyn. I don't think
- 1:33:15Speaker 3: they won any in Brooklyn, but had they well to like.
- 1:33:17Speaker 4: The Packers count their NFL like their NFL championships, Well.
- 1:33:21Speaker 3: They were the super they were always in green Bay.
- 1:33:23Speaker 3: Yeah right, yeah, so I think I think that counts.
- 1:33:26Speaker 4: But you still the only talk about Pittsburgh, right. I
- 1:33:27Speaker 4: don't know what the official number is with green Bay.
- 1:33:30Speaker 4: That's a good question.
- 1:33:31Speaker 5: They won. They won five in Minneapolis.
- 1:33:33Speaker 3: Five in mine, so they don't win years were those?
- 1:33:36Speaker 4: Like how crazy were we getting?
- 1:33:38Speaker 8: Like then?
- 1:33:41Speaker 10: Unless it's a nineteen forty nine, nineteen fifty nine to
- 1:33:44Speaker 10: fifty two, fifty three, fifty four?
- 1:33:46Speaker 3: Yeah, so should those count towards their legacy?
- 1:33:50Speaker 4: And those were NBA championships or is that an old league? Okay?
- 1:33:53Speaker 4: I was still on the NBA, so while the Celtics
- 1:33:55Speaker 4: were were they were kind of with them there.
- 1:33:58Speaker 3: Yeah, but the Celtics didn't start winning until Russell came in.
- 1:34:01Speaker 3: That was like nineteen sixty or fifty nine a little
- 1:34:04Speaker 3: bit later.
- 1:34:04Speaker 4: Yeah, I kind of think they should count. I'm crazy
- 1:34:07Speaker 4: or not, But like, I don't know what's the franchise.
- 1:34:09Speaker 4: I think I don't know, Like this, can it only
- 1:34:12Speaker 4: be when you were where you are.
- 1:34:14Speaker 3: And now when when Cleveland moved to Baltimore, part of
- 1:34:20Speaker 3: the deal was that they couldn't take any of the
- 1:34:24Speaker 3: Browns records, So.
- 1:34:26Speaker 4: And then the Browns got all their records back, the
- 1:34:28Speaker 4: Browns records.
- 1:34:30Speaker 6: Browns have never won it.
- 1:34:31Speaker 3: But when the Colts moved from Baltimore to Indianapolis, they
- 1:34:35Speaker 3: could they did take their records with them. Did you
- 1:34:39Speaker 3: know that It's weird? Yeah, because Modell and Cleveland, he
- 1:34:44Speaker 3: just did it like overnight, like the moving trucks just
- 1:34:48Speaker 3: showed up and and he did it under the cloak
- 1:34:51Speaker 3: of darkness. But the Colts was, you know, everybody knew
- 1:34:55Speaker 3: what was happening. It was the league sanctioned and all
- 1:34:58Speaker 3: that stuff, you know, so they allowed them to take
- 1:35:01Speaker 3: all their wreck.
- 1:35:02Speaker 10: I think the Lakers thing is interesting because they're they're
- 1:35:04Speaker 10: saying they have the most and that's where it gets interesting,
- 1:35:07Speaker 10: because like, did they.
- 1:35:08Speaker 4: Just decide to do this like the last couple of weeks,
- 1:35:10Speaker 4: like all of a sudden, They're just like surprised.
- 1:35:11Speaker 9: It was a narrative when the Lakers won in the
- 1:35:14Speaker 9: bubble too, because then they tied the Celtics. Yeah, okay,
- 1:35:18Speaker 9: because that was their seventeenth and then they both had seventeen.
- 1:35:22Speaker 9: I think the franchise can take them, sure, whatever, but
- 1:35:24Speaker 9: it's when people from Los Angeles claim them as their own.
- 1:35:28Speaker 9: When it's like you were in Minnesota and you were alive,
- 1:35:32Speaker 9: but like no one in your ancestry cheered for this team.
- 1:35:35Speaker 6: So that's like, did your grandfather roof.
- 1:35:38Speaker 8: Right, my great great grandfather.
- 1:35:42Speaker 9: If there's anyone from Minnesota originally from Minnesota that is
- 1:35:46Speaker 9: now in Los Angeles that has generations of lineage of
- 1:35:50Speaker 9: Lakers fandom, let me know.
- 1:35:52Speaker 8: I'll take back my words, but.
- 1:35:54Speaker 4: It is interesting with it. Like I mean, there's a
- 1:35:56Speaker 4: significant amount of teams that have moved.
- 1:35:58Speaker 8: But like Los Ange you just can't claim those the
- 1:36:01Speaker 8: Lakers can.
- 1:36:02Speaker 6: I Mean, the whole thing's just ridiculous.
- 1:36:03Speaker 4: They're still the Lakers anyway though, right, like like you're like,
- 1:36:05Speaker 4: come on this all thing.
- 1:36:07Speaker 5: Give the Texans the oil.
- 1:36:09Speaker 4: Like Minnesota gets all that they they have, all the titles,
- 1:36:11Speaker 4: Like Minnesota can hang the banners.
- 1:36:13Speaker 6: The Lakers are the Lakers.
- 1:36:15Speaker 3: Yeah, okay, all right, spee along the same lines, I'm
- 1:36:21Speaker 3: gonna get you all in trouble with Paul when he
- 1:36:23Speaker 3: returns your evaluation of the Bulls dynasty was pathetic and
- 1:36:26Speaker 3: the right and the great white snark will set you straight.
- 1:36:29Speaker 4: I look forward to that for sure.
- 1:36:32Speaker 3: So was it pathetic in that we were overrating it
- 1:36:35Speaker 3: or underrating it?
- 1:36:36Speaker 13: No?
- 1:36:37Speaker 5: Great?
- 1:36:38Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 1:36:38Speaker 8: I mean I was born in ninety four.
- 1:36:40Speaker 3: I don't two three.
- 1:36:43Speaker 4: I don't know. It's like it's like they we should
- 1:36:46Speaker 4: like w w PD, like what will Paul do or
- 1:36:48Speaker 4: what will Paul say? Is he going to be higher
- 1:36:51Speaker 4: on the Lakers dynasty than we were or the lower
- 1:36:53Speaker 4: on the Diggers? Because I think he's lower on Phil Jackson.
- 1:36:55Speaker 4: I think he's dismissive of the Kobe. I don't know.
- 1:36:58Speaker 4: I could be wrong, though, it's hard hard to get
- 1:37:00Speaker 4: in there.
- 1:37:00Speaker 3: He loves Superstars, he does love Superstars.
- 1:37:02Speaker 5: Two three pizzas crazy?
- 1:37:04Speaker 3: Yeah, So I mean Jordan is Jordan?
- 1:37:06Speaker 2: Right?
- 1:37:06Speaker 4: I think Paul is going to say it was it
- 1:37:08Speaker 4: was better. It was great, not better than the Patriots,
- 1:37:10Speaker 4: but just better than what we were coming.
- 1:37:13Speaker 3: It's Jordan, the greatest goat in pro sports and the
- 1:37:19Speaker 3: same amount of Tom is a greater goat and then Jordan.
- 1:37:23Speaker 4: Was longer, harder sport.
- 1:37:27Speaker 3: MESSI that's fair, mess.
- 1:37:31Speaker 4: Can you can you give me globally.
- 1:37:33Speaker 5: No, I don't have enough. I don't have enough data
- 1:37:35Speaker 5: for that.
- 1:37:36Speaker 3: So Messy better than Pele. Yeah, yeah, if you watched
- 1:37:40Speaker 3: a lot.
- 1:37:41Speaker 5: Of I watched the Pale. Yeah he's playing against Farmers.
- 1:37:44Speaker 4: Okay, I did with Messi. I had a Malik Nabor's
- 1:37:47Speaker 4: situation though, too, when I first became aware of him,
- 1:37:49Speaker 4: and I was like, holy crap.
- 1:37:50Speaker 6: This guy is different.
- 1:37:52Speaker 10: Well, Bessie Renaldo, they were scoring so many goals that
- 1:37:54Speaker 10: now and a person scores fifteen goals, which is a
- 1:37:56Speaker 10: lot of goals.
- 1:37:57Speaker 5: It's not fifty goals in the season. What are we doing? Yeah,
- 1:38:00Speaker 5: like what he got averaging like fifty.
- 1:38:03Speaker 4: I just couldn't believe it. How effortlessly he moves with
- 1:38:06Speaker 4: the ball like he runs full speed.
- 1:38:08Speaker 6: It's it's like, it's just cool.
- 1:38:11Speaker 3: Messi saro to hot.
- 1:38:15Speaker 9: Like I was just talking about this over the fourth
- 1:38:18Speaker 9: of July week with like my family, that we live
- 1:38:20Speaker 9: in such an American bubble.
- 1:38:22Speaker 8: But then you realize, like like if.
- 1:38:24Speaker 9: You compare Messi and Ronaldo's like just their Instagram following,
- 1:38:27Speaker 9: for instance, Tom Brady's, it's like, I think Messi and
- 1:38:31Speaker 9: Ronaldo have something of like six hundred million followers, And
- 1:38:35Speaker 9: I don't know if Brady has like face.
- 1:38:36Speaker 3: It's definitely more of a worldwide sport. But here's the thing,
- 1:38:39Speaker 3: and I'm probably gonna get all you.
- 1:38:41Speaker 6: Got to use your feet in all the soccer.
- 1:38:43Speaker 3: All the soccer fans are going to get mad at me.
- 1:38:45Speaker 3: But when we look at these other countries like Portugal
- 1:38:49Speaker 3: and Spain and France and Germany, pretty much the best
- 1:38:53Speaker 3: athletes in those countries are playing soccer, right, Like, if
- 1:38:57Speaker 3: you can play soccer, you play soccer in the countries.
- 1:39:01Speaker 3: And in this country we're doing this this debate. It's
- 1:39:04Speaker 3: not even close. The best athletes in our country are
- 1:39:07Speaker 3: not playing soccer. They're not because the money's not. For
- 1:39:11Speaker 3: whatever reason, they're not playing soccer. So what would happen.
- 1:39:17Speaker 5: If like Lebron James played soccer?
- 1:39:20Speaker 3: If they did, you know, the best athletes in our
- 1:39:23Speaker 3: country grew up that soccer was their main sport.
- 1:39:27Speaker 4: Like I would just want to take like NFL wide
- 1:39:29Speaker 4: receivers and we have soccer trials like from that position, right,
- 1:39:33Speaker 4: I got.
- 1:39:34Speaker 3: Heading you knows, not like the greatest.
- 1:39:37Speaker 8: That's the thing.
- 1:39:37Speaker 9: They're not crazy athletes. They're just kids that grew up
- 1:39:41Speaker 9: and they popped out of the womb on a farm
- 1:39:43Speaker 9: in South America, and there was already they learned how
- 1:39:46Speaker 9: to walk, they were dribbling.
- 1:39:47Speaker 3: He's a unicorn, right, yeah.
- 1:39:49Speaker 9: But now there's a kid that's sixteen scoring goals in
- 1:39:53Speaker 9: for Spain and it's like.
- 1:39:54Speaker 4: Well, I mean, I'm a newbie getting introduced to these things.
- 1:39:56Speaker 4: I mean, we saw the facility in Germany, but like
- 1:39:59Speaker 4: the development and the signings.
- 1:40:02Speaker 8: That we don't have the infrastructure in the US.
- 1:40:06Speaker 9: Youth soccer is like so politicized here with the club teams.
- 1:40:09Speaker 9: You have to be a rich kid to really be
- 1:40:13Speaker 9: at these camps and on these special teams. And it's
- 1:40:16Speaker 9: not in South America. It's just a dirt field and
- 1:40:19Speaker 9: a rock ball.
- 1:40:20Speaker 4: Like that's what they're question I have, Alex is just
- 1:40:22Speaker 4: like what is the commitment from parents financially time wise,
- 1:40:27Speaker 4: because like, as a guy, you know, I have kids
- 1:40:29Speaker 4: who are like at that age of travel sports and
- 1:40:31Speaker 4: yead of a big conversation and it's a humongous expense
- 1:40:35Speaker 4: and time commitment. But in those programs does that do
- 1:40:39Speaker 4: they just kind of I mean, are those still problems
- 1:40:41Speaker 4: for the parents or are these are these more Well,
- 1:40:42Speaker 4: it's kind.
- 1:40:43Speaker 9: Of different too, because their kids aren't like playing varsity
- 1:40:46Speaker 9: sports and they're not going to like prep schools. If
- 1:40:49Speaker 9: you're good enough, you're in an academy at what thirteen
- 1:40:52Speaker 9: twelve years old? Sometimes young run Yeah, like you're sent
- 1:40:55Speaker 9: away and you're sent away right right, and you're in
- 1:40:58Speaker 9: these organizations and you're just that way, Like that just
- 1:41:01Speaker 9: doesn't really happen here. And also if you watch like
- 1:41:04Speaker 9: Matis can probably speak to this, watching like North American
- 1:41:08Speaker 9: soccer exclude Mexico, but like Canadian soccer and American soccer,
- 1:41:12Speaker 9: it's like it's almost a different product. It's like kick
- 1:41:15Speaker 9: and run, brute force, whereas you go to South America
- 1:41:20Speaker 9: or Europe and it's like skilled, it's like art to watch.
- 1:41:23Speaker 8: It's like the way they pass around, it's more natural. Yeah,
- 1:41:26Speaker 8: it really is, so you it would take generations.
- 1:41:31Speaker 10: I think the big difference is in the cities. Here
- 1:41:34Speaker 10: you got a basketball court, yeah, the city is. In Europe,
- 1:41:37Speaker 10: there's like little soccer fields.
- 1:41:39Speaker 8: Dirt soccer fields and street soccer, and.
- 1:41:41Speaker 5: That's what you need here for basketball.
- 1:41:43Speaker 9: And those kids are playing soccer on concrete, and that
- 1:41:45Speaker 9: the quickness of the ball moving across concrete there's no friction,
- 1:41:49Speaker 9: the level the skill they get from just that alone.
- 1:41:52Speaker 4: It's just the financial barrier something that is so interesting.
- 1:41:55Speaker 8: It's sad to see as parents like.
- 1:41:57Speaker 4: Hot, like you'd yeah, thousands and thousands.
- 1:41:59Speaker 8: Look varsity hockey and across high schools.
- 1:42:02Speaker 9: It's sad to see football programs, soccer programs, the varsity
- 1:42:07Speaker 9: they're just being totally stripped from these AAU and these
- 1:42:12Speaker 9: club teams.
- 1:42:12Speaker 8: It's sad. I hate it.
- 1:42:13Speaker 4: And and so many of these AU and club teams
- 1:42:15Speaker 4: are just like money grabs and.
- 1:42:16Speaker 9: Oh yeah, your kid's gonna make the d teams, but
- 1:42:19Speaker 9: they get the merch right and they get to wear
- 1:42:21Speaker 9: like the outfit and say they're on the junior whatever,
- 1:42:25Speaker 9: you know what I mean, Like it's just junior money.
- 1:42:30Speaker 9: If your kid is good enough in varsity soccer, they're
- 1:42:33Speaker 9: gonna get found if they're good enough. And at the varsity,
- 1:42:36Speaker 9: I don't know, it's just.
- 1:42:39Speaker 8: Going to be the next like.
- 1:42:40Speaker 6: Really good at baseball.
- 1:42:41Speaker 4: Right now, he's twelve years old, and it's like, okay,
- 1:42:45Speaker 4: you're out of Little league now, so how do you, like,
- 1:42:47Speaker 4: do you join one of these club teams where it's
- 1:42:49Speaker 4: you know, kids are on pitch counts and you know competitive,
- 1:42:53Speaker 4: and you know it's it's hard to navigate.
- 1:42:55Speaker 8: We just need rex sports better.
- 1:42:56Speaker 4: You wonder what the effect would be on American exports because,
- 1:42:59Speaker 4: like to Matisa point, not as much of a barrier
- 1:43:01Speaker 4: on basketball, Like you know, it's you need a ball
- 1:43:03Speaker 4: in a hoop and a lot of most towns have
- 1:43:05Speaker 4: them hockey huge barriers, you know, I mean skates.
- 1:43:08Speaker 6: Skate like travel.
- 1:43:09Speaker 4: I mean, how much does this stick? Exactly five bucks
- 1:43:16Speaker 4: and you get two sticks and you know, mostly make
- 1:43:19Speaker 4: through the year. If it was a Christian Brothers has
- 1:43:21Speaker 4: been indestructible. But you know, it's just how do you
- 1:43:23Speaker 4: remove those those barriers for young.
- 1:43:26Speaker 9: Shouldn't have that barrier. Like every kid one of the
- 1:43:28Speaker 9: first sports they play is soccer. But then it gets
- 1:43:31Speaker 9: to like you wonder why the kids are walking away
- 1:43:34Speaker 9: from it.
- 1:43:34Speaker 8: It's not as fun because it's just the parents and
- 1:43:37Speaker 8: the clubs. It's just too political.
- 1:43:38Speaker 3: Alex and Raleigh. I recently went to the Women's Soccer
- 1:43:41Speaker 3: League game down here the North Carolina Courage, and recently
- 1:43:45Speaker 3: chattaw with Tory Holt. He is part owner of the team,
- 1:43:48Speaker 3: and I asked him how much he and the greatest
- 1:43:50Speaker 3: show on turf expected to win that game, he said,
- 1:43:53Speaker 3: we beat them earlier in the season, so we were
- 1:43:55Speaker 3: flying high and didn't expect to lose. He was a
- 1:43:58Speaker 3: great person to talk to and really goes to show
- 1:44:00Speaker 3: how dominant the run was. Yeah, but they won, but
- 1:44:03Speaker 3: they didn't. Really. That was the game that the Patriots
- 1:44:05Speaker 3: showed they could compete anyway. Also, soccer take athletes don't
- 1:44:09Speaker 3: make soccer. Having the soccer IQ, the dedication to understanding
- 1:44:13Speaker 3: the game are such an undervalued skill in the American system.
- 1:44:17Speaker 3: The US system wants athletes first then soccer players. This
- 1:44:21Speaker 3: can be a whole show debate and I love it.
- 1:44:23Speaker 8: Yeah, that's exactly the point. We kind of just made
- 1:44:26Speaker 8: just the kick and run soccer run be big.
- 1:44:30Speaker 5: Ron James still be great, but he might. Yeah the technique.
- 1:44:33Speaker 8: Son, his first touch isn't like Messi's or like whoever,
- 1:44:40Speaker 8: name your any player from Europe, even some.
- 1:44:42Speaker 5: Reps players here.
- 1:44:43Speaker 6: I know, Yeah, I did well.
- 1:44:46Speaker 4: USA Hockey's dounning. Good job, like trying. I think they
- 1:44:48Speaker 4: tried to emulate these and they have the National Development
- 1:44:50Speaker 4: Program and they have Yeah, you know, you talk about
- 1:44:52Speaker 4: teaching the game and you know all the different computer
- 1:44:55Speaker 4: programs now, I mean the virtual reality stuff here, Like,
- 1:44:57Speaker 4: there's so much more going into all sports of understanding
- 1:45:00Speaker 4: the game on that never existed when I was a kid.
- 1:45:02Speaker 4: We never did, like, you know, it was just kind
- 1:45:04Speaker 4: of here's our breakout, you know, here's our four checks.
- 1:45:07Speaker 8: You know, you have a couple of drills in practice.
- 1:45:09Speaker 4: Yeah, but there wasn't that kind of detailed analytical insights.
- 1:45:13Speaker 10: You know.
- 1:45:13Speaker 3: One of the things in America, you know, United States,
- 1:45:16Speaker 3: we have a bigger pool of people. Obviously it's a
- 1:45:18Speaker 3: bigger country. But in these other countries, it seems like
- 1:45:22Speaker 3: there's only a few sports that everyone pays attention to,
- 1:45:26Speaker 3: you know, baseball, for soccer, skiing, maybe.
- 1:45:36Speaker 8: Underwater.
- 1:45:38Speaker 3: So like this, it doesn't spread out the talent pool as.
- 1:45:41Speaker 4: Much, whereas here you've got kids playing baseball, flag, football, hockey.
- 1:45:48Speaker 3: And then then I'll get into my Olympics rant, which
- 1:45:52Speaker 3: you know, I think the Olympics is ridiculous now, the
- 1:45:55Speaker 3: sports that they allow in break dancing, break dancing in
- 1:46:00Speaker 3: the Olympics, I mean, what are we doing?
- 1:46:02Speaker 4: What are we doing?
- 1:46:03Speaker 3: Skateboarding is in the Come on, it's kind of cool though,
- 1:46:06Speaker 3: skateboard it's a.
- 1:46:07Speaker 4: Little bit cool, cool, what's cool about the X Games.
- 1:46:12Speaker 8: They're on a half pipe doing like flips and stuff
- 1:46:15Speaker 8: with a little board this big.
- 1:46:16Speaker 21: That's rat I know what skateboarding is, but why is
- 1:46:19Speaker 21: it Olympics a lot of hawk though, so I mean
- 1:46:21Speaker 21: when you really think about it, though, how much different
- 1:46:23Speaker 21: is it from gymnastics really, like in terms of contorting
- 1:46:26Speaker 21: your body and trying to execute.
- 1:46:29Speaker 3: The only thing I'd say about gymnastics is that it
- 1:46:32Speaker 3: goes back to the Greeks. They were doing some form
- 1:46:35Speaker 3: of gymnastics back then. It was you know, tests of strength.
- 1:46:38Speaker 6: So you just go back to Fred, you go back
- 1:46:40Speaker 6: to the original. Carry a rock, throw a rock.
- 1:46:48Speaker 3: It's a rock. But even now the gymnastics, I mean,
- 1:46:58Speaker 3: I don't want to make fun.
- 1:47:00Speaker 4: It's a freak. I mean, like like it just swished
- 1:47:05Speaker 4: people into like ten bodies.
- 1:47:07Speaker 3: And you've got to imagine that the training that they
- 1:47:09Speaker 3: do for gymnastics, stunts, their growth does.
- 1:47:14Speaker 5: Twenty one is a big deal of someone Biles coming back,
- 1:47:16Speaker 5: but she's like sold.
- 1:47:17Speaker 9: They also well, especially field gymnastics. Gymnasts have a lot
- 1:47:21Speaker 9: of issues with like their hormone and balances.
- 1:47:24Speaker 3: They get older and stunts freaky and then it really
- 1:47:28Speaker 3: does gymnastics, the floor exercise and the beam. Okay, I
- 1:47:32Speaker 3: think the beam is one of the toughest things in
- 1:47:35Speaker 3: Oh my god, But what's with all the hand movement?
- 1:47:38Speaker 6: What about.
- 1:47:41Speaker 8: Like, I'm not watching a dance recital. I want to
- 1:47:43Speaker 8: see that.
- 1:47:44Speaker 3: Don't use music. They just go out there and they
- 1:47:46Speaker 3: show how strong and agile they are with all this.
- 1:47:50Speaker 3: And oh she picked Beyonce. It's really a crowd favorite.
- 1:47:53Speaker 3: I don't care. Just do your tumble, you know what,
- 1:47:56Speaker 3: what are we doing? It's so stupid.
- 1:48:00Speaker 4: We have a figure skating though, you feel similar along
- 1:48:02Speaker 4: those a little bit.
- 1:48:04Speaker 3: A little bit, but at least figure skating is what
- 1:48:07Speaker 3: it's supposed to be, dancing on ice, you know.
- 1:48:10Speaker 4: And do you have a problem with the sports that
- 1:48:11Speaker 4: include like style points, Like it seems like a lot
- 1:48:14Speaker 4: of the ones where you have people judging the style
- 1:48:16Speaker 4: rather than just you ran faster.
- 1:48:18Speaker 8: What else do you hit Olympics?
- 1:48:20Speaker 3: Oh, there's a whole bunch of them. Yeah.
- 1:48:22Speaker 5: The speed walking, Yeah, that's a dumb one.
- 1:48:25Speaker 3: Yeah, you know, I know it's been around forever. But
- 1:48:28Speaker 3: the one where you're skiing your shoot.
- 1:48:29Speaker 5: Oh yeah, I don't like that one.
- 1:48:31Speaker 4: You know, what about the one we have to like
- 1:48:32Speaker 4: jump over a thing and go through water, and like
- 1:48:34Speaker 4: that's pretty cool, Like you know they have the hurdles, Yeah, like.
- 1:48:37Speaker 6: What steph Like what's the point of that? In the
- 1:48:41Speaker 6: middle of it.
- 1:48:44Speaker 3: Flace face plant right in the water, and then everyone's
- 1:48:47Speaker 3: like trampling.
- 1:48:48Speaker 4: Jump over a puddle like in the Olympics, Like what
- 1:48:50Speaker 4: do we doing?
- 1:48:50Speaker 3: But I do say one of the ones I had
- 1:48:52Speaker 3: the most respect for are those track and field people.
- 1:48:56Speaker 5: The sprinting is the best one.
- 1:48:57Speaker 3: Hell yeah, but even like the four hundred, little long
- 1:49:00Speaker 3: distance to saying they're insane, the shape that they're in.
- 1:49:04Speaker 4: I just wonder, like what is the peak of human performance?
- 1:49:07Speaker 4: And when when we hit it? Because no one's ever
- 1:49:08Speaker 4: gonna run let's just say the four. No one's gonna
- 1:49:10Speaker 4: run the four hundred in one second, So there has
- 1:49:12Speaker 4: to be.
- 1:49:13Speaker 8: We got to give these people st it's got to
- 1:49:15Speaker 8: be aligned, like.
- 1:49:15Speaker 6: It'll never get beyond. But it keeps wriittling down.
- 1:49:19Speaker 3: Slogan swimming, everyone's always breaking records.
- 1:49:24Speaker 5: And swimmings phelps and like how much better?
- 1:49:30Speaker 3: And I think it's interesting, like swimming has gone the
- 1:49:33Speaker 3: other like gymnastics. They hardly wear any clothes anymore.
- 1:49:37Speaker 8: The girls right, like, yeah, have an issue with the college.
- 1:49:44Speaker 3: Women smuggling grapes, and now they have and now they
- 1:49:50Speaker 3: have like the full short and we're guys are like
- 1:49:55Speaker 3: shaving their bodies and now they were they that was
- 1:49:57Speaker 3: such a thing, right you know, So it's.
- 1:49:59Speaker 4: Gone the other way, sleek like a fish dolphin.
- 1:50:03Speaker 8: How much could that happen?
- 1:50:06Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 1:50:06Speaker 3: Yeah, you never heard that before. I didn't.
- 1:50:12Speaker 4: I think that's a river.
- 1:50:14Speaker 3: I'll give her.
- 1:50:14Speaker 8: Press in piece.
- 1:50:18Speaker 6: What a woman watched The Woman where the Paris.
- 1:50:22Speaker 8: In Paris, and were just talking about this on the
- 1:50:25Speaker 8: way down to the video. So you remember when we
- 1:50:27Speaker 8: wanted it in the Boston, they wanted it in Boston.
- 1:50:29Speaker 3: It takes me an hour and.
- 1:50:29Speaker 2: A half and get.
- 1:50:33Speaker 8: Going on right now in that city.
- 1:50:35Speaker 10: The red line is going five miles an hour coming
- 1:50:37Speaker 10: off of a Celtics like.
- 1:50:40Speaker 4: We can't do the Celtics, pray, We've got Olympic events
- 1:50:42Speaker 4: going on.
- 1:50:44Speaker 3: So you're just finding out that the Olympics are in Paris,
- 1:50:47Speaker 3: just confirming that in my head, I thought, you haven't
- 1:50:49Speaker 3: watched NBC in four years. I watched a little bit.
- 1:50:51Speaker 24: I'm watching the Wimbledon's okay, all right, the Wimbledon, The Wimbledon,
- 1:50:58Speaker 24: Kevin writes in absolutely love, absolutely adore the youth sports chat.
- 1:51:03Speaker 3: I work for years with my dad here in South
- 1:51:05Speaker 3: Carolina as a sports official, A proud vet of IAABO
- 1:51:10Speaker 3: board fifty four. Wow, whatever that means. Your appreciation of access,
- 1:51:15Speaker 3: in spite of Fred's fancy shirts and Cape Cod restaurants
- 1:51:18Speaker 3: stories warms my heart. As a kid who adored but
- 1:51:20Speaker 3: couldn't afford to play hockey, I recall being envious of
- 1:51:24Speaker 3: the kids in Brockton because they had a boys and
- 1:51:26Speaker 3: girls club. Excuse me? I just had an Italian boy?
- 1:51:31Speaker 2: Was he?
- 1:51:31Speaker 3: I had gloves and a snowy driveway basketball court. It's
- 1:51:35Speaker 3: no wonder I found the joy of tackle football on
- 1:51:37Speaker 3: snow Love the show. If nineteen ninety four repeats, life
- 1:51:41Speaker 3: will be bled ce level good for a decade. So
- 1:51:45Speaker 3: there you go.
- 1:51:46Speaker 4: It's just crazy. I mean my own roughing experiences with
- 1:51:49Speaker 4: youth hockey, and it's just you know these showcases and
- 1:51:51Speaker 4: you're like, oh, it's a showcase, and you go and
- 1:51:53Speaker 4: you know, these kids are paying two twenty five hundred
- 1:51:55Speaker 4: bucks and pop to play like six games, and.
- 1:51:57Speaker 3: Like and there's three kids that are like that's all
- 1:52:00Speaker 3: people came to see.
- 1:52:01Speaker 10: That's also the social media part too, Like when I
- 1:52:03Speaker 10: was in high schools where I just like Facebook and
- 1:52:05Speaker 10: like we'd be happy to have a parent taking pictures
- 1:52:07Speaker 10: of games. Now everyone's got their phone and trying to
- 1:52:09Speaker 10: get the next viral moment. Like it's just it's it's crazy.
- 1:52:13Speaker 3: Now. You want to see something competitive though, go to
- 1:52:16Speaker 3: one of these team cheerleading competitions. Oh sure, Oh my god,
- 1:52:20Speaker 3: that is cutthroat, cut throat.
- 1:52:23Speaker 8: Bring it on, vicious.
- 1:52:25Speaker 3: The girls are vicious, Yeah they are, and like they're
- 1:52:29Speaker 3: out there like with bandage knees and you know, oh
- 1:52:32Speaker 3: my god.
- 1:52:33Speaker 4: And the guys that are involved in this they throw
- 1:52:35Speaker 4: them and they like are doing oh yeah, and it's
- 1:52:37Speaker 4: not they're not making them do the me.
- 1:52:39Speaker 6: I'm just doing the cheerleading.
- 1:52:41Speaker 8: Competitive cheerleading is so sick. Those girls do not get
- 1:52:43Speaker 8: enough credit.
- 1:52:44Speaker 9: It's also like one of the most dangerous sports for
- 1:52:46Speaker 9: concussions that no one talks about.
- 1:52:49Speaker 4: Girls hit the floor like they throw them off and
- 1:52:51Speaker 4: I'm boom and I believe.
- 1:52:52Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:52:52Speaker 8: One of my best friends was she's on like the
- 1:52:54Speaker 8: Celtics Green teamers.
- 1:52:55Speaker 9: So they're the ones that get thrown up in the
- 1:52:56Speaker 9: basket tosses like on the parquet, and every time I
- 1:53:00Speaker 9: cover a Celtics game, it's like my friend getting thrown
- 1:53:03Speaker 9: out and I'm just like, I don't know where your
- 1:53:06Speaker 9: head goes, just like God forbid they fall and just.
- 1:53:10Speaker 3: They wear those guardile caps thels Andrew in l A,
- 1:53:23Speaker 3: says Alex in Spanish, what you refer to as the
- 1:53:26Speaker 3: sauce werge dipria in it's called consume thank you a
- 1:53:30Speaker 3: sound at the end it double r Yeah, football email
- 1:53:45Speaker 3: jacket and abba. How about trading Judean for starting left tackle,
- 1:53:49Speaker 3: then playing Kayden Wallace at right tackle where he belongs,
- 1:53:52Speaker 3: and moving Mike and when you back to right guard
- 1:53:54Speaker 3: where he belongs. By making that one trade, the Patriots
- 1:53:57Speaker 3: would strengthen three positions on the offensive one it's playing
- 1:54:01Speaker 3: a lot of Madden.
- 1:54:02Speaker 5: It's just hard.
- 1:54:02Speaker 4: It's hard to do player for player trades like that.
- 1:54:04Speaker 4: I mean, what team's got an extra left tackle that
- 1:54:06Speaker 4: they do? You know, we can slip him from the
- 1:54:08Speaker 4: pass rusher. I think if jude On goes it's it's
- 1:54:10Speaker 4: probably for a pick.
- 1:54:11Speaker 6: It's probably for I.
- 1:54:12Speaker 10: Mean I would then maybe kind of a third maybe
- 1:54:14Speaker 10: like if you don't pay me, you can maybe get
- 1:54:16Speaker 10: some more at the trade deadline. Like if there's a
- 1:54:18Speaker 10: team that's.
- 1:54:19Speaker 5: Like all out, like we're a player away, like all right, well.
- 1:54:22Speaker 4: And he's such a guy that you could see a
- 1:54:24Speaker 4: team being like we're we're you know. I mean not
- 1:54:26Speaker 4: that the Patriots are close to the pass rush to
- 1:54:28Speaker 4: the playoffs last year, but you could see them if
- 1:54:30Speaker 4: they were being like, this is the piece that we're missaving.
- 1:54:33Speaker 10: What if it's like the Ravens are a guy away
- 1:54:35Speaker 10: and he goes back to the Ravens like at the
- 1:54:36Speaker 10: trade deadline, Like I don't know.
- 1:54:39Speaker 6: Yeah I could, I mean, I could see it.
- 1:54:41Speaker 4: I'm kind of curious how how it's all gonna play out.
- 1:54:43Speaker 6: I mean, I think next or.
- 1:54:44Speaker 4: Two weeks when we go to camp, it's like, is
- 1:54:45Speaker 4: Godshaw here, is judeon here? And of course they could
- 1:54:48Speaker 4: be there, and then they just could be kind of
- 1:54:50Speaker 4: hanging out and then we start getting the vibes of
- 1:54:52Speaker 4: like it's a hold in.
- 1:54:53Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:54:53Speaker 9: Well it is interesting too, because it's not like they
- 1:54:55Speaker 9: haven't they they haven't been hesitant to extend a ton
- 1:54:58Speaker 9: of guys, especially on the D so.
- 1:55:01Speaker 4: Just right, but it's you know, it's the young guys,
- 1:55:03Speaker 4: and that's like the message has got to be staring
- 1:55:05Speaker 4: those two in the face, that like they're going out
- 1:55:07Speaker 4: of their way to guys off their first contract and
- 1:55:09Speaker 4: in their second that's where they're focused.
