  Right now, as of early February 2026, Google's YouTube is caught

  up in a big landmark trial in Los Angeles that kicked off just

  last week. It's a bellwether case accusing

  YouTube, along with Meta's Instagram, of deliberately

  designing addictive features like autoplay, infinite scroll,

  push notifications and those recommendation algorithms that

  keep pulling kids into endless rabbit holes to hook children

  and teens for profit. The plaintiffs say these aren't

  harms, anxiety, depression, even worse stuff like self harm, but

  That rewards viral, ragey, or endless thread content that

  They're important enough to where they'll start paying you

  and you can do a job just simply by making videos.

  A lot of young people have done this because they don't want to

  go work at McDonald's or in some fast food restaurant, which is

  understandable. But at the end of the day,

  YouTube just recently gotten rid of millions and millions of

  counts, destroyed millions of livelihoods and people's jobs

  that they had making videos. A lot of people talking about

  suing Google for that. Yeah, with the way the economy

  is and inflation, with all these false promises from politicians,

  yeah, the kids, they see YouTube and Google as their only way to

  be able to actually make some actual money to survive.

  carrot. Hit 1000 Subs, 4000 watch hours

  or whatever the thresholds are now and boom, you could quit the

  day job and live off videos. It's huge for kids and teens who

  hate the fast food grind, especially with inflation making

  everything brutal. They see creators flexing lambos

  and think that's my escape. But then the hammer drops.

  Late 2025 into early 2026, YouTube's AI moderation went

  terminated in the first nine months of 2025 alone, with

  spikes like 7.45 million in 1/4. A lot of it targeted spam, AI

  slop, mass produced junk, repetition content, and scams.

  But creators are screaming about wrongful bands, legit channels

  naked over old comments, stolen content, flags or just glitches.

  People lost livelihoods overnight, some with hundreds of

  thousands of Subs. Years of work gone.

  YouTube's own stats show they delete 10s of millions of

  channels yearly. But this wave felt extra

  aggressive and yeah, it's destroying real jobs ensuing

  there's chatter and outrage creators venting on X Reddit

  videos about AI killing channels, but no big class

  action waves specifically for mass wrongful terminations.

  Yet most lawsuits against YouTube right now are about kids
