- 1:29Speaker 1: popcorn moment. Let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go.
- 1:33Speaker 1: It's a story you need to hear to believe. Then
- 1:37Speaker 1: grab your popcorn because there is more. Now, there's plenty
- 1:44Speaker 1: one can hit President Trump for and go right ahead.
- 1:48Speaker 1: Not here to stop anybody. Knock yourselves out. Then there's
- 1:53Speaker 1: plenty of ridiculous nonsense pablum that Trump gets hit for
- 1:59Speaker 1: that needs to be called the ignorance that it is.
- 2:02Speaker 1: And you can't engage a conversation about ignorant talk without
- 2:06Speaker 1: talking about Cory Booker, the senator from New Jersey, who
- 2:11Speaker 1: has had all the opportunity to show us that he
- 2:14Speaker 1: is a mind. He just can't do it. When you
- 2:19Speaker 1: sound like Chris Murphy, you can't actually be thought of
- 2:25Speaker 1: As a great mental warrior. In this, he's taking a
- 2:31Speaker 1: new tact. As President Xi Jinping is in town, and
- 2:37Speaker 1: President Trump is holding the White House dinners and everything else,
- 2:41Speaker 1: here is Cory Booker on MSNOW with Chris Hayes, who
- 2:45Speaker 1: amazingly still has a job and crazily makes more money
- 2:48Speaker 1: than I do, discussing what Trump wants of our media.
- 2:54Speaker 1: I mean, they say that themselves, in fact.
- 2:56Speaker 2: No one even, I think, contests that general premise. We have,
- 3:01Speaker 2: you may or may not have heard at the top
- 3:03Speaker 2: of the program, my colleague Laura Barron-Lopez was denied access
- 3:09Speaker 2: to an event today just a few hours ago with
- 3:12Speaker 2: Chinese President Xi Jinping and his wife and Melania Trump,
- 3:15Speaker 2: the president. Chinese state media were allowed in. This is
- 3:19Speaker 2: after the judge ordering the White House to allow us
- 3:23Speaker 2: and Politico and CNN back in. You know, what do
- 3:27Speaker 2: you think about the spectacle today of like having the
- 3:30Speaker 2: Chinese government there with the retinue of state media while
- 3:33Speaker 2: you're sort of dragged kicking and screaming to allow access
- 3:37Speaker 2: to the American press?
- 3:39Speaker 3: Yeah, he's with a Chinese dictator he wants to be
- 3:41Speaker 3: more like. It's Chinese state media, not their free media,
- 3:44Speaker 3: because they don't have it in China. In Russia, they
- 3:47Speaker 3: don't have free press. Turkey is putting people in jail
- 3:50Speaker 3: for what they call fake news. This is what dictators do.
- 3:55Speaker 3: This is what authoritarian leaders do. That's who he wants
- 3:57Speaker 3: to be like.
- 3:58Speaker 1: Now, that's Cory Booker being the lowest common denominator. As
- 4:06Speaker 1: is reported... Donald Trump has spent 21,058 minutes, which is
- 4:13Speaker 1: approximately 351 hours, speaking to the press since the start
- 4:16Speaker 1: of his second term. 759 press-facing events, remarks, gaggles, and
- 4:23Speaker 1: press conferences, answering direct questions from reporters at 474 of them,
- 4:27Speaker 1: more than half, accounting for 12,178 minutes, or about 203
- 4:28Speaker 1: hours of Q & A time. When we take a
- 4:39Speaker 1: look at Joe Biden's term, press conferences, 37. Fewest since
- 4:44Speaker 1: Ronald Reagan. Informal Q & A session, 679. Public events
- 4:50Speaker 1: with official remarks, 345. His average Q & A session
- 4:57Speaker 1: was roughly 22 minutes. And the way he answered questions,
- 5:01Speaker 1: it was probably four questions. And those questions were probably
- 5:04Speaker 1: written for him by his own staff and then planted
- 5:08Speaker 1: with the like-minded media. And this is where Cory Booker fails.
- 5:12Speaker 1: No one who is trying to be a dictator gives
- 5:16Speaker 1: the press that much access. It was the Biden administration
- 5:20Speaker 1: that was writing questions. We already know this. You knew
- 5:23Speaker 1: who he was going to call on. And the issue
- 5:27Speaker 1: here is that if you want to talk about state media,
- 5:30Speaker 1: Senator Booker, that's MSNOW. That is what CNN and MSNOW
- 5:35Speaker 1: did when they never reported on Joe Biden's condition. That
- 5:38Speaker 1: was state run media at that moment because they didn't
- 5:42Speaker 1: engage the news at all. This is not an argument.
- 5:47Speaker 1: This is ignorance. And you should be told the biggest
- 5:49Speaker 1: problem we have. is that no one is going to
- 5:51Speaker 1: walk up to Cory Booker and say, that's the dumbest
- 5:53Speaker 1: damn thing I ever heard. God, you're dumb, and walk away.
- 5:58Speaker 1: And it should be senators. It's a lie. And you
- 6:01Speaker 1: know it's a lie, Senator Booker. No one's getting thrown
- 6:05Speaker 1: in jail. This isn't China. Trump kept out the MSNOW
- 6:11Speaker 1: people from the state dinner. Well, he was ordered by
- 6:14Speaker 1: a judge to bring them back into the White House.
- 6:17Speaker 1: No one said you had to be at a state dinner.
- 6:19Speaker 1: And look at you right there on that network reporting.
- 6:25Speaker 1: Reporting and access are two very, very different things. The
- 6:30Speaker 1: president's argument is you're a trash outfit that is state-run media,
- 6:35Speaker 1: but state-run for the Democratic Party, and everybody knows it,
- 6:39Speaker 1: and he just doesn't want to be around that stuff anymore.
- 6:42Speaker 1: I cleaned that up, by the way. I cleaned that
- 6:43Speaker 1: up pretty good. You're welcome, everybody. Keeping the radio license
- 6:46Speaker 1: one more day. Is he right? Well, he's right about
- 6:52Speaker 1: the left state-run media. Was he right to tell these
- 6:56Speaker 1: people they can't be in the White House? Politically, no. No, no, no, no. Mistake.
- 7:02Speaker 1: You can't attend the dinner? It's his dinner. You have
- 7:06Speaker 1: no right to attend the dinner. None.
- 7:10Speaker 3: None.
- 7:10Speaker 1: We saw the coverage of it. Let me ask, were
- 7:13Speaker 1: you going to cover his speech? The speech that he
- 7:16Speaker 1: gave at the dinner, he gets welcomed in with President
- 7:19Speaker 1: Xi Jinping and there's Xi's wife and there's Melania Trump.
- 7:23Speaker 1: And he gets everybody seated. He goes back to the
- 7:25Speaker 1: to the podium and hail to the chief ends. And
- 7:27Speaker 1: he starts speaking. Were you going to cover that? So
- 7:30Speaker 1: what did you need access for if you were not
- 7:32Speaker 1: going to cover that and share that with us? So
- 7:35Speaker 1: you could be in the room so you could have
- 7:37Speaker 1: one more way of finding a vision to a methodology,
- 7:41Speaker 1: I should say, to attack. Nobody needed you. I think
- 7:47Speaker 1: your biggest problem is by not being in the room,
- 7:50Speaker 1: it only proves how unnecessary you are. Nothing changes about
- 7:54Speaker 1: your reporting, which is the whole point. You're going to
- 7:59Speaker 1: report any way you want, and the president isn't stopping you.
- 8:02Speaker 1: No one's stopping you. MS Now, you can continue to
- 8:06Speaker 1: be the biggest low-life scumbags that are out there. I
- 8:09Speaker 1: can't stop you. I wish you would stop, but I
- 8:13Speaker 1: can't stop you. So the president has more time with
- 8:18Speaker 1: the press than anyone else. The president has thousands, thousands
- 8:27Speaker 1: of minutes, 351 hours speaking to the press. The press
- 8:33Speaker 1: is still able to report on him and call him
- 8:37Speaker 1: a dictator. And somehow Trump is limiting the press. Just
- 8:45Speaker 1: the actions I've shared, the observation of their actions proves
- 8:51Speaker 1: the lie. Cory Booker doesn't care if he lies. Cory
- 8:54Speaker 1: Booker had all the chance, the Democrat from New Jersey,
- 8:56Speaker 1: all the chance to be a beacon in the Senate.
- 9:01Speaker 1: All the chance to really be Spartacus. And he blew it.
- 9:08Speaker 1: He's nothing more than Chris Murphy from a southern state. Yeah,
- 9:12Speaker 1: compared to Connecticut, New Jersey's a southern state. That's all
- 9:16Speaker 1: he is. They lie right to your face and they
- 9:22Speaker 1: believe they are pious in doing so. And Chris Hayes
- 9:28Speaker 1: still makes more money than me. My gosh, that has
- 9:31Speaker 1: to get rectified.
