- 0:05I can tell people now I started a moving company with 30 days
- 0:08moving experience, which I actually contribute that to some
- 0:13of our success because I didn't know these little tricks, these
- 0:15little things that people do. You know how to pay your guys
- 0:18less or charge a customers the most or all these little, you
- 0:20know the things that people do. I just wanted to take care of
- 0:23people, customers and employees I wanted to take care of.
- 0:26That's what I did. Welcome to Mobile 5 Wednesdays.
- 0:29Let's go. Welcome to Mobile 5 Wednesdays.

- 0:51Can't do it alone without my co-host, my best friend Mr.
- 0:54Stephen Reed here. What's going on?
- 0:56What's going? On What's going You didn't
- 0:57travel very far to get to Nashville.

- 1:06amazing these place to be Memphis TN.
- 1:11Memphis, TN. We're over here with our arch

- 1:15That's right. We're here at the ATA
- 1:18conference. The MSC excites me back and we
- 1:22have the first time guest finally, finally.
- 1:27Finally. Blake Fitzpatrick.
- 1:30Blake Fitzpatrick. Let's try a movers out in
- 1:35Florida Sarasota. Beautiful Sarasota.
- 1:39Beautiful Sarasota, Beautiful Sarah.
- 1:40But if any moving companies are listening, don't come down
- 1:43there. It's not that beautiful.
- 1:44Just for a visit. Just for a visit.
- 1:46This is a quick visit. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:47Come and go. That's it, That's it.
- 1:50In out tell me give me like the the the OG story of getting
- 1:55involved in the moving business because you have like a very
- 1:58interesting past and then you just kind of get involved into
- 2:02to moving. So give me that whole.
- 2:04How did it start? I'll try to keep it short and
- 2:06simple, but so. We don't do that here.
- 2:08Right. Well, I'll give you a long
- 2:09story. So I, I was doing drywall.
- 2:13I did drywall since I was like 16 years old.
- 2:15That was my thing that I learned finishing, hanging it, all that
- 2:18good stuff. And I was doing drywall with a
- 2:20guy. He called me up like, hey Blake,
- 2:22I know do drywall. I got some jobs and help.
- 2:24So I wouldn't help him out. And three months later I'm still
- 2:27working the same guy. I don't know what I was doing.
- 2:29My buddy Matt, good friend, and one day we're working and he
- 2:33gets a phone call from a guys name is Mark.
- 2:36And apparently this guy Mark owns a moving company.
- 2:39And yeah, yeah, Mark, it's the moving man was the name of the
- 2:42company. It's one truck.
- 2:43It's a U-Haul so old that they have stick shift.
- 2:47I've never even seen one before. Yeah.
- 2:50Thank you. Probably get up and go.
- 2:51Though I'm sure it could. Well it's gone now.
- 2:54So we go help this guy and at the end of the day marks like,
- 2:56hey man, the guys I needed today, I have on this day and
- 2:59that day and can I get some help from you?
- 3:01I said I'll come back out. So I went back out.
- 3:04So I went back and forth between Mark and Matt for about 30 days
- 3:07and I little light bulb went off.
- 3:09I wanted to start a company. I didn't start with that.
- 3:11I wanted to start a company. I wanted to start a drywall
- 3:13company. I had ideas for the name of the
- 3:15company and everything. But then when I got introduced
- 3:17to moving, what was the name? I'm not going to say OK so bad,
- 3:22gonna come back. Sunshine.
- 3:23Drywallers, it was so bad. So then I ended up I was like,
- 3:29Mark, dude, I'm watching you, I'm watching this.
- 3:30I'm like, dude, I'll go buy a truck.
- 3:31I was like, I'll if I get a job, you can come work with me.
- 3:33If you got a job, I'll come work with you.
- 3:35Like we'll hire some people. He's like, yeah, yeah.
- 3:37I'm like, OK, great. Went and bought a truck.
- 3:39That same truck, I bought it for three grand coming over the
- 3:42Skyway bridge, blew the rear main or the the rear main seal?
- 3:46Yeah, the rear main seal. No $3000 repair as much as the
- 3:49truck cost. That was my entry to the moving
- 3:51industry, right? But yeah, that's how it started.
- 3:53And so I can tell people now I started a moving company with 30
- 3:58days moving experience, which I, I actually contribute that to
- 4:03some of our success. Cause I didn't know these little
- 4:05tricks, these little things that people do.
- 4:06You know, how to pay your guys less or charge our customers the
- 4:09most or all these little, you know, the things that people do.
- 4:11I just wanted to take care of people, customers and employees
- 4:15I wanted to take care of, and that's what I did.
- 4:17Figure out the in between right? Yeah, you are learning.
- 4:20What were some of the big learning curves that you had to
- 4:24embark as you were starting to? Grow the first two years, I'll
- 4:27still figure my whole life out. I wasn't even like if I could
- 4:31just have a job a day, I was happy, that's all.
- 4:33Over how old were you? About 20-6, Yeah, No, I'm still
- 4:38figuring things out. I didn't know what I was doing.
- 4:40I remember I charged $75.00 an hour all in for two guys a truck
- 4:45and I figured that's $20.00 an hour to pay the guy $5 for gas
- 4:49and then 50 bucks for me. I was happy with that.
- 4:52I looked back on that. Now that's.
- 4:53Crazy, right? Yeah, it's crazy, Yeah.
- 4:55And now what are you charging for two guys in a truck?
- 4:57$89.00 a man on a OK what should I charge?
- 5:01What do you guys charge? Two guys in the truck.
- 5:05Why charge 89 per man? Per man.
- 5:08And the trucks included? No, we charge a service fee like
- 5:122 something 200. 102 hundred like a flat rate.
- 5:15For the truck, for the fuel, the truck and the the basic
- 5:17materials like shrink wrap, tape, blankets, that kind of
- 5:20stuff. Yeah.
- 5:21So your time starts when you get there.
- 5:23Yeah, we charge travel time. OK there we charge travel time.
- 5:26So the clock starts when we arrive and when we finish the
- 5:29job and then whatever pre arranged travel time is already
- 5:32added in which we fluff that up a little bit to make up the
- 5:37difference for a truck to drive through traffic.
- 5:38That makes sense, sure. When when you look back now like
- 5:45so let's let's Fast forward it for the last couple of years.
- 5:48Where do you see the, the, the growth in Sunshine Movers is
- 5:54specifically when it comes to the marketing side, because we
- 5:57watch from the sidelines of everything that you're doing.
- 6:02Can you elaborate on like how Mark Road and the marketing has
- 6:08like helped expedite your growth?
- 6:11And then I got one question too. What's the population of
- 6:14Sarasota? Just so our listeners can.
- 6:16I looked it up recently. I don't remember off the top of
- 6:18my head. Somebody asked me and I looked
- 6:19it up. We looked it up to compare like
- 6:21how much we bring in a year and what the capacity was.
- 6:24I don't remember what it was. Pretty small town.
- 6:26Though yeah, it's not huge. Yeah, it's not a big city.
- 6:28Yeah, yeah. Cause how many trucks you
- 6:29operating? Now I have 12 insured.
- 6:32I have 15 trucks. I like to say I got 15 trucks,
- 6:35but I have 12 insured trucks on the.
- 6:37Road everybody. Everybody always says.
- 6:39Give us the number you want to give.
- 6:41US great. Now I got 12 trucks and wheels.
- 6:46It's not about the trucks, it's about the guys, right?
- 6:48You know, your trucks are like your foundation, but the guys,
- 6:52the ones that make the money, it's not the trucks.
- 6:54But we have 12 trucks. And I want to say that we run
- 6:56between 8:00 and 10:00 a day. And then we have those backups
- 6:58or those extras in case something ever happens, you
- 7:01know? So let's go back to the
- 7:02marketing. Yeah, yeah, it's all
- 7:04relationship marketing. So I love shaking hands with
- 7:07people. I like helping people, I like
- 7:10creating relationships. I come from a life that I would
- 7:13have never imagined in my wildest dreams that I'd be here.
- 7:17So for me to be able to stand with a group of people that I
- 7:19can stand with now that makes me feel good and I enjoy it.
- 7:23So I know a lot of moving company or just a lot of people
- 7:25in general, you know, as far as company owners, they don't wanna
- 7:28be out there, don't wanna shake people's hands.
- 7:30They wanna put their face out there.
- 7:31I love that, I love it. And for me it works because when
- 7:35I go out there and I meet these people and I do things with
- 7:37them, I work with nonprofits. I enjoy giving back to the
- 7:40community. You know, I came from a place
- 7:42that that was unheard of. So for me to be able to do that
- 7:45now I enjoy it. And I think it's not just, it's
- 7:48not just doing it, it's the passion of doing it.
- 7:51And that's what attracts people's relationships, things
- 7:56and stuff and stuff and things. And so the fact that I enjoy it
- 8:00and I love it, and I jump at every chance I can to get into
- 8:03that kind of stuff, I think that's where people just
- 8:07naturally gravitate towards the relationship that then turns
- 8:11into the business because that's what it really comes down to is
- 8:13relationships. And, you know, you can walk into
- 8:16it. We talked about this.
- 8:16You can walk into an office and say, hey, yeah, I'm sunshine
- 8:19movers. Yeah, sure.
- 8:20Yeah. But when we're over there buying
- 8:21your daughter a birthday gift or, you know, the little things.
- 8:26Supporting. That's kind of where I was
- 8:28wanting to go on. You know, we, we talked about
- 8:30the relationships and, and a lot of us go, Oh yeah, you know, I
- 8:34work with these Realtors or those Realtors, but it's really
- 8:38more transactional than actually building these relationships.
- 8:41How in depth do you recommend moving company owners to apply
- 8:47themselves when it goes to building that relationship with
- 8:50like Keller Williams or some large real estate firm?
- 8:54And, and is it better to find that one realtor?
- 8:58Is it better to go after the managing brokers?
- 9:01No. So like if you if you partner
- 9:03with the actual Realty company, that's just a credential, you
- 9:07have to make friends in relationships with the actual
- 9:10realtor. I can't tell you how many Realty
- 9:13companies that we're a part of and the Realtors that work for
- 9:17that company or part of that company don't even know.
- 9:18They don't even, they don't even know that we're like we're,
- 9:20there's only two companies in, in my area, we have Michael
- 9:22Saunders. It's one of the highest level.
- 9:25Like that's like the top tier of Realty Realty companies.
- 9:29And I see Michael Saunders Realtors all the time.
- 9:32I'm like, oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. We're sitting having a
- 9:34conversation and none of them know we're one of the two
- 9:36companies that are approved for Michael Saunders.
- 9:38Yeah. They don't know it, but it's a
- 9:40credential. So it's when if I walk up and
- 9:43you're a Michael Saunders realtor, I can shake your hand
- 9:45and say, hey, I'm approved with your, you know, your office
- 9:47that's out in the other and then done already right there.
- 9:50But realistically, you know, a lot of people, they try to get
- 9:53get hooked up into the to the actual offices and such, but you
- 9:56have to make the relationships with the Realtors themselves
- 9:59flat. That's it.
- 10:00That's all you can do. Right when you're configuring
- 10:03and setting up smart moving, it triggers all kinds.
- 10:08Oh, we could do this. Or we could do that.
- 10:11But you may not have ever thought about those options, but
- 10:15smarter they compels you to think about it while you're
- 10:19going through the setup and configuration process and
- 10:22onboarding process of adopting the program into your business.
- 10:26And that's really cool, super powerful because you're
- 10:29leveraging the experience of smart move includes research for
- 10:32moving industries, create this incredible tool while you're
- 10:36just making like a four man operation and getting started in
- 10:40the moving business. But now you've got this wealth
- 10:42of information comes just by default because you purchased
- 10:46the program. That's the whole idea.
- 10:48We build stuff with movers by our side, not just in mind.
- 10:59Hey everyone, Maddie Mailers here, the guy who pioneered
- 11:02handwritten letters for the moving industry.
- 11:04Why? Because my competition at my
- 11:06moving company was using the same stock postcards as me and
- 11:10my mailing company didn't care. So I created a better way.
- 11:14Here's some mind blowing results.
- 11:16In July, Miracle Movers Utah closed $93,000 using our
- 11:21handwritten letters strategy. With our campaigns, you can
- 11:24forget about the guessing games. You get a trackable phone
- 11:27number, daily photo proof, an incredible design team, and I'm
- 11:31also included all letters stopped at me for approval
- 11:34before they ever leave our facility right now, move unified
- 11:38listeners get 1000 golden ticket stuffed in our genuine
- 11:41handwritten letters completely free.
- 11:43Plus I'm going to throw in bulk realtor data for up to five
- 11:46counties. What are you waiting for?
- 11:49Moving letters? AI stop competing, starting
- 11:52dominating. So what are you doing?
- 11:57Are you taking them out for lunch?
- 11:59Connecting, you know, trying to understand kids, birthdays,
- 12:04events. That's what we were talking
- 12:06about this last night. Blake and I were in somebody
- 12:10asked me recently from my market shout out Garrett, but but from
- 12:14a market, How much do you pay reorders and I said nothing
- 12:19right. And we I tell him about that and
- 12:20we laugh last night. I don't pay him nothing.
- 12:23I helped their business. I help them in the journey,
- 12:26right. I help them go through things.
- 12:28I help them my sponsor their kids programs.
- 12:31I sponsor their hobbies, I sponsor their passions.
- 12:34I get to know them. I'm there when they have
- 12:36struggles in business. I'm not just asking for things.
- 12:38I know the market is hard on those guys and I'm saying how
- 12:41can I help? What tools do I have in my shed
- 12:44to give you? And it's not a it's not a
- 12:47referral dollar and employee. You had an interesting theory on
- 12:50that too. It's not, it's the relationship,
- 12:52right? Yeah, 100%.
- 12:54Well, the way I look at it, this is my sales pitch.
- 12:56I've said it 1000 times and I'm gonna say it right now.
- 12:59When I work with the Realtor, we elevate their brand.
- 13:02We make them look good. That's my job, is to make you
- 13:05look like a rock star. When you, Missus and Mr. Realtor
- 13:09refer a client to me, I'm going to make sure off the bat that
- 13:11client knows that they're going to get incentives because of
- 13:13you. And it's funny because I'm not a
- 13:15discount company. We don't have to give discounts,
- 13:17but I do give discounts to Realtor referred clients.
- 13:20And the reason is, is because I want to know when a client is
- 13:23referred by the Realtor. And I remember when I first
- 13:26started doing this, the clients wouldn't say nothing, but I
- 13:29started burning it into the Realtors like, Hey, listen, make
- 13:33sure they mention you by name and they're going to get a
- 13:36discount among other incentives. And so that way, because here's
- 13:40the reality of it, I was always scared of death.
- 13:41Whenever I have a realtor referred client, I put my best
- 13:44guys on it. We have tags now that we, we, we
- 13:46put our best guys on it. Like if there was a damage,
- 13:49we're going to make sure we go above and beyond on those, you
- 13:51know, But The thing is, if I don't know that you were
- 13:54referred by your realtor, I don't do all these things.
- 13:56So I put the discount out there. So that way they would, when
- 13:59they call in, hey, I was referred by so and so, boom.
- 14:02But we tell them off the bat, hey, because of so and so you're
- 14:05going to get this, this and this and this.
- 14:07We say it to him on the phone, we put it in their notes.
- 14:09We make sure it sticks all the way through.
- 14:11And the goal is that at the end of the day, the end of the move,
- 14:14that they go back to the realtor and say, Oh my God, thank you so
- 14:16much. It was amazing.
- 14:17Because of you, we got this, this and this.
- 14:19It was so great, right? Make the realtor look good.
- 14:22Make the realtor feel the value so that they want to refer us.
- 14:26Like they know if they refer us, we're going to make them look
- 14:28good. So they going to make sure we're
- 14:29in front of every one of their clients.
- 14:31Does that make sense? Yeah, one of the one of the
- 14:33coolest things I've seen you do in networking is you made a
- 14:38courtyard just in the middle of a parking lot.
- 14:42Might be in your parking lot, might have been something else,
- 14:43but you made a courtyard. It boxed in your.
- 14:45Trucks OHT yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, body and put tables in
- 14:49between it and everything else like that.
- 14:50And I was like, what an advertisement.
- 14:51Everywhere you look, it's beautiful.
- 14:53I'm picturing my big red trucks, right?
- 14:55But everywhere you look is big. Goal was the yellow trucks.
- 14:58The goal was I don't care where they took a picture, how they
- 15:01took a picture of my truck to be in the background.
- 15:02That's all I wanted. I said I want to make sure my
- 15:04truck is in the background. That's what I did.
- 15:06So give us supremacist of this. How did this come?
- 15:09About that was a setup, so we get hooked up with all the
- 15:12different organizations. That was a Lakewood Ranch based
- 15:14business alliance. So you get hooked up with
- 15:16different animations. They usually have like a, they
- 15:19want to have like outings and stuff for their, their, their
- 15:22members and stuff. And so they'll try to find,
- 15:25yeah, yeah. And they'll try to find
- 15:27different things. And if you're like, it's like a
- 15:28Chamber of Commerce, like I remember I went to the last one.
- 15:32Was that like a, a, the, the Suncoast blood centre or
- 15:36something? You know, my point is, is that
- 15:38usually it's not that fun. It's like at an office, you
- 15:41know, right. Like we said, hell no, we got a
- 15:43band, we got a bartender. Like they showed up.
- 15:45Like what are we doing? And the way I looked at it, the
- 15:48way I looked at it, because it was.
- 15:49My, did you put it on like you, you're like, this is the
- 15:51marketing experience. Dude, he's got a catwalk.
- 15:54He's walking the. Cattle.
- 15:56So listen, when you get hooked up with an organization, So I
- 16:00have a, when I was a kid, I was afraid to have like a birthday
- 16:03party. I didn't have a lot of friends
- 16:05truthfully. And so I always had this fear of
- 16:08if I have like a party where people actually come.
- 16:11So with the Lakewood Ranch Business Alliance, I knew I had
- 16:15like 50 or 60 people coming. So I had my base.
- 16:18And then from there I invited my people.
- 16:20I wasn't worried because I already had my base.
- 16:21Does that make sense? So we ended up having, I think
- 16:25there was more non members than there were actually members, but
- 16:29we had so many people in the, the best part about it was it's
- 16:31all a business thing. So people were showing up, they
- 16:33were meeting other business owners, they were networking,
- 16:36making money, transactions, things like that.
- 16:38That's a beautiful thing. If somebody makes money because
- 16:41of what you did, that's a referral partner for life.
- 16:43Like how could you ever refer somebody else?
- 16:46I will find you. But did you, did you organize
- 16:49like the band? Did you put the whole thing kind
- 16:52of yeah. And then everybody had tables.
- 16:53So there were different businesses that just.
- 16:55Had their No, we just had that. We had the table set up.
- 16:58We hired the bartender, we hired the band.
- 17:00I used the same band. J Santi guys awesome shout out.
- 17:05What kind of music? You know, like the typical 90s
- 17:08ohe. Yeah. 90s in there, you know,
- 17:10like. Hey now.
- 17:13Yeah, exactly. Yeah.
- 17:14And they're they're good. Time.
- 17:18I love it. No, it was a good time, but you
- 17:20know, that's. From Sarasota as well too.
- 17:23That's another thing with the networking though.
- 17:25So like we did a ribbon cutting we had.
- 17:28Let's Fast forward now to today. You just acquired a warehouse or
- 17:34you took over financing it to congratulations.
- 17:37Congratulations on this. I've seen the, the transitions
- 17:41and the photos and everything else that you share with me.
- 17:44I've just, you know, your vision and and the branding and how
- 17:47everything got set up, which looks amazing.
- 17:51You did a big ribbon cutting like you put on like a big event
- 17:54in the warehouse and everything. Give us, give us that guide.
- 17:57That was a that was a hell of a power move I did.
- 18:00So we did our ribbon cutting. Listen, we got the Chamber of
- 18:04Commerce, both, both of them, Lakewood Ranch Business
- 18:06Alliance, the Realtor Association, there was another
- 18:10one too. We got them all and they
- 18:12actually weren't happy about that.
- 18:13They were like, wait, hold on, we're doing this for you.
- 18:16I'm like now all of you are. So we had all of them cover it.
- 18:19So what happens is like you have.
- 18:21Chamber, so many financial advisors in the insurance
- 18:23salesman at that place. So we had it got it got shared
- 18:27with so many different people. We actually had.
- 18:29It was a battle. There was because we had, we
- 18:31also had the Realtor association, Women's Council of
- 18:34Realtors and there's two of them, there's Manatee and
- 18:36Sarasota. And apparently they are, there's
- 18:40a little friction there. So I had them both come out and
- 18:43like, it was kind of a battle of who did what.
- 18:45But anyways, my point though, is that I had everybody cover it.
- 18:47So what does that mean? Newspapers the all the.
- 18:50Social Medias. Everybody shared it was great.
- 18:53It was fantastic. It was it was a great time.
- 18:55I had city commissioners there, people that.
- 18:57Own are you getting, is this really just because of the the
- 19:00community and the connections that you've built to reach out
- 19:03to all of them? Like what?
- 19:04How are you getting all of these organizations to come out to a
- 19:08ribbon cutting for a moving company?
- 19:10We have a good time. We have, we, we, we, we have a
- 19:12good time. Have you seen my?
- 19:14Have you seen my so you know, this is what I said.
- 19:16We we had my first party. He's.
- 19:19Gigolo No listen. So we we have parties.
- 19:21We put together these parties. Listen and everybody has a great
- 19:24time. The last one I did, I was at a
- 19:26mansion. We had 300 people and it was all
- 19:28to raise money for the American Cancer Society.
- 19:30We had stilt walkers walking around and with pink flamingos
- 19:34and like it was nuts. Everybody had such a good time.
- 19:37But The thing is, when you set that that good of a time, they
- 19:41come, they'll keep on coming. Everybody knows if if we have a
- 19:44party, they're coming flat out. You hear that?
- 19:46And the ribbon cutting. Party there.
- 19:51Like people think it's crazy. Like the band that we hired, I
- 19:54paid like 1500 for the band, 3000 for the food.
- 19:57Like I have to spend that money. I had to get a valet because
- 19:59there's so many cars. Like I probably spent. 10 grand
- 20:03but that was the best $10,000 in marketing I could have ever.
- 20:06Spent relationship. All the people that took
- 20:09pictures and shared it like oh Sunshine movers now has storage.
- 20:13Now everybody knows it. Like you have to think like
- 20:15that. Like when I did my my party,
- 20:18it's funny, like I'm I'm different.
- 20:20So I knew I had the, the ladies on still stilt Walker ladies.
- 20:24So my son, he's 14 years old. I have a Sunshine Movers
- 20:27costume. I paid him.
- 20:29I get in the Sunshine Movers costume and carried the Sunshine
- 20:31Movers truck, walk around with it.
- 20:33And I knew that when people come in, they're going to take their
- 20:35first pictures, right. So we set up a little photo area
- 20:38where they come in. You have the Sunshine Movers
- 20:40with the truck, the stilt walkers.
- 20:42Yeah, you gotta, when people post pictures of an event, think
- 20:45about this, They, they choose what picture goes on top, right?
- 20:49That's the picture that goes on top.
- 20:51So what do you want everybody to see?
- 20:52You want to see the Sunshine Movers costume, the Sunshine
- 20:54Movers truck, the stilt walk, make people stop and say, oh,
- 20:57let me look at the rest of those pictures, you know, make them
- 21:00get invested. So that's how I thought about
- 21:02it. And that's what we did.
- 21:03But those are the things that you got to think about.
- 21:05Same thing with ribbon cutting. I knew.
- 21:06I thought about like, OK, where like, so we had our band.
- 21:09I, it took me time, but I wanted my band right in front of the
- 21:12vaults. I wanted my racks.
- 21:13We actually put fake boxes. There are boxes were empty
- 21:16boxes. We set it up.
- 21:17We staged the whole thing. The couches had to be nice and
- 21:19wrapped up. I had to hide the paperwork.
- 21:21I had competitors coming out. I didn't want to see my account.
- 21:23We talked about that. Yeah, I don't, I don't want to
- 21:25see my account. That's on the paperwork.
- 21:26So I wouldn't put cover. We covered all of them up there.
- 21:29But you got to think about these things like people going to take
- 21:31pictures where they go Facebook, and then what's going to happen
- 21:33to people going to see it and you want your brand or the fact
- 21:36that we offer chords to get out there.
- 21:38So how do you do that? Bolts Boom.
- 21:40Yeah, did it. If you're considering snowball.
- 21:44Just do it. Snowfall creates stun for you.

- 23:38Something wrong? I'm missing a gene or two or
- 23:39something, I don't know. It's a good party.
- 23:41I want to come down for a party. I.
- 23:43Wanna do too? David Valencia came down my CFO.
- 23:47Shout out. David, shout out.
- 23:49David, shout out. David, shout, shout.
- 23:51Shout Real 0. No, David came down.
- 23:55It was awesome. Well, you know what, it's a it's
- 23:57a time now for a Dolly, Dolly, Dolly, Dolly, Dolly dash brought
- 24:00to you by BHC insurance called Trey ask for the move unified
- 24:05strategy. It works.
- 24:07He put it together. It's to help move those levers
- 24:10when you are looking for these insurance renewals.
- 24:12Where am I going to go? What am I going to do right?
- 24:15You're going to call Trey? You're going to call Trey.
- 24:18Alright, you're ready. Ready.
- 24:20OK, You're going to hit you with the five questions.
- 24:23You got 60 seconds to answer? Alright, here we go.
- 24:28What is the one best advice you would tell a new moving company
- 24:33owner that's coming into the game what he should be focused
- 24:36like? What's the first thing they
- 24:37should be focusing on Starting off in 20?
- 24:3926 clearly still. Good websites, good website,
- 24:43Google page photos and the Google page reviews and a photo
- 24:47shoot. Don't take photos of your movers
- 24:49actually working, sweating, looking like dogs.
- 24:51Do a photo shoot. Make your company look 10 years
- 24:53old that day. Yes, logo on the back in there
- 24:58because faces, they either get fired or it's it's a lot easier
- 25:02to get the good picture of the back compared to the front.
- 25:05Easy peasy. Alright, second, if someone
- 25:10handed you $1,000,000 today, what's the biggest thing?
- 25:14What's the first thing you'd invest in in your company?
- 25:17Or would you do something else with it?
- 25:19No, I would just keep it. I'm a hoarder.
- 25:22I I hoard my. Can invest it.
- 25:26I, I just it, it's, it makes it easier for me to make choices
- 25:29like buying trucks and things. I'm a hoarder.
- 25:30I hoard my cash. It's kind of disgusting how much
- 25:32cash I have and I should be investing in things I don't
- 25:34like. The disgusting.
- 25:35It's disgusting. Disgustingly rich.
- 25:40All right. Third one, if give me a a quick
- 25:45example of what sets you apart compared to the mover down the
- 25:51street when it comes to culture. Oh.
- 25:54I love my guys, I love my employees.
- 25:56I take so much pride and take care of my people.
- 25:58Like if I walk in the office or see my crew members and
- 26:02something feels off. If something ain't right, it
- 26:05hurts and I it it doesn't unhurt until I fix it.
- 26:08And I take a lot of pride and taking care of my people.
- 26:11I never have I ever regretted giving them bonuses cooking
- 26:17breakfast that I like to do. I cook breakfast my guys once a.
- 26:19Month. Yep, Yep.
- 26:22And it's funny because some people are like, hey, yeah, just
- 26:24buy breakfast. Why do you make it?
- 26:25So I made a post one time like, wow, it's so challenging.
- 26:27I cook for this many people and sometimes like, why don't you
- 26:29just buy them food? No, it's a way different feel
- 26:32when you show up and you do it and listen to tell you
- 26:34something's Marketing, That is the best form of marketing.
- 26:37That was my first form of marketing was when I get up and
- 26:39I talk about what we do for our guys, what we do for employees.
- 26:42I cook breakfast, I pick pictures of it, I put it out
- 26:44there. That is the best form of
- 26:45marketing. It's amazing.
- 26:47But no, I love doing that stuff. So that's that's what sets us
- 26:49apart all day long. I take care of my guys.
- 26:51They're happy. They love us.
- 26:52We love them. Say no more.
- 26:54I love it. What's the best advice someone's
- 26:58ever given you? Oh, what did he say?
- 27:01OHT Rob Allegra, Allegra Homes. That was my first account.
- 27:04We staged his homes. This guy puts pianos in his
- 27:07house is crazy. So custom home builder Rob
- 27:10Allegra and he said Blake, don't, don't chase money.
- 27:15Chase the act of taking care of people and the money will
- 27:17follow. That was the first piece of
- 27:18advice that I ever got that I actually grabbed a hold of.
- 27:21And so, yeah, don't chase the money, chase the act of taking
- 27:25care of people and the money will follow.
- 27:27Rob Allegra. Allegra Homes.
- 27:29Ever since. I know, I know.
- 27:31I was gonna say, do you have? One.
- 27:32No, no, that's good. No, that's good.
- 27:34That was good. I didn't wanna follow up with
- 27:36another question on that one. Yeah, this has been great.
- 27:39No Dash. Yeah, that was a good Dolly
- 27:41Dash. Live from Nashville, TN.
- 27:44A sad question, how much sleep did you guys get?
- 27:46That much not. Much either, same as you.
- 27:49Yeah, they do. They do sell Bloody Marys at the
- 27:52end of the hallway. Just say.
- 27:54We had a good time at Kid Rocks last night.
- 27:56We had a good time at Jelly Rolls last night.
- 27:59Where else would we go? Where Sports and Social?
- 28:02Winners and losers. Winners and losers.
- 28:03Yeah, DraftKings. Draft Kings Team USA after
- 28:08beating Canada, went on to beat the.
- 28:10Republic love that. That's fantastic.
- 28:13I know you would. Know and Mark's here as a
- 28:16Canadian at an American Trucking Association conference.
- 28:22That's right, yeah, Blending. That representing he's wanting
- 28:25to come over. Here.
- 28:26That's right. OHS.
- 28:28It was great. It was great.
- 28:30It was more to come. It was fantastic.
- 28:32I'm gonna end off with this, Blake.
- 28:37It's by the time that when this episode comes out, summer's
- 28:39gonna be just about to kick off. Where?
- 28:45What initiative are you planning for 2026?
- 28:48To make sure everything is in in line?
- 28:52Ready to go strong summer ahead of you.
- 28:56What are you, what are you, what's your, what's your big
- 28:58thing that you're applying, you're going to especially for
- 29:00quarter 2? Yeah, right now it's staff
- 29:03that's that's the issue. So I actually, so we did a
- 29:05meeting with my sales team two weeks ago.
- 29:08We had dinner and I just wanted to get a feel like pulse, you
- 29:11know, a finger on the pulse. Cause we're, we're doing more
- 29:14business than we ever have. And so we're getting ready to
- 29:17hire a couple different positions.
- 29:19And I wanted to find out like, what's the pain points?
- 29:21Because my staff, they don't like to tell me like if they
- 29:23have problems, they don't like to complain.
- 29:25And I was talking to, I think it was Tim crap.
- 29:27I was talking to this. Tim corrupt they.
- 29:30Don't shut up, shut up, shut up. Now that they don't, they don't
- 29:33tell us, they don't tell me like how I'm dealing with this thing.
- 29:35That's a problem. They just figure it out.
- 29:37And the problem is that we have all new things that we're
- 29:40dealing with right now. So when they're dealing with
- 29:42these speed bumps, these roadblocks that we've never had
- 29:45before and they're trying to figure it on their own, like,
- 29:47listen, I'm sorry, but you're not going to do as good of a job
- 29:49as I'm going to do. You need to come.
- 29:51That's just my job. Bring it to my attention.
- 29:53I'm going to find out. So I did a meeting with my sales
- 29:55team to kind of get engaged and come to find out they're all
- 29:59hurting. They need more people, they need
- 30:01more people, or we need better processes or maybe a little bit
- 30:04of both. So right now we're looking at
- 30:06how do we automations, streamlining, hiring, all these
- 30:12things because I'm a I'm, I love quality and I know that if we do
- 30:17anymore than what we're doing right now with the people we
- 30:19have without the systems that we probably need, we're gonna have
- 30:23problems. Like there's gonna be a miss.
- 30:24There's going to be where because you know, if you, if you
- 30:27mess up an estimate, it's not just the customer paying a
- 30:29little extra, It's also your guys now on a 10 hour day.
- 30:32Now they're pissed off, and now you.
- 30:33Have the culture room. Yeah, it's a, it's a whole
- 30:37downhill thing. Yeah.
- 30:39Yeah, it all starts with that first initial call, getting that
- 30:41information. And that's what I'm afraid of
- 30:43losing right now. So that's what we're working on.
- 30:45He recently hired Ready Rolls to help us work.
- 30:48Hiring some offshore helps in years and they've done an
- 30:50amazing job and they found the perfect candidate for our
- 30:53company. Not only that they don't enter
- 30:54into questions that we had about the process.
- 30:56You know initially you know hiring a can be intimidating but
- 30:58answered all the questions been amazing experience has been.
- 31:02A huge. Part of our success thus far
- 31:04reaching the process of hiring people right now definitely see
- 31:07them being part of our growth and reaching our goals on 21
- 31:10Black and another game changer for our company confident W
- 31:13game. Visit readyrolls.com.
- 31:16There is now a better way to scale.

- 31:31to do as we close for the full wrap up that's brought to you by

- 31:43through actually putting the time and the effort in to get to
- 31:47know the Realtors name their family.
- 31:50What are you doing? Put on an event, right?
- 31:53What a smart idea. You got your trucks wrapped.
- 31:56Get those trucks out there, you know, get some tables up.
- 32:00Put it put a vent together. Talk to some of the local
- 32:02organizations that are within your community and say let's
- 32:05we're going, we're going to put on like just a fun BBQ event or
- 32:08something like they're. Not gonna do this.
- 32:10Completely. Here's the secret sauce.
- 32:13You get a nonprofit involved, people will show up when there's
- 32:17something. To raise.
- 32:19Raise with the nonprofit. Absolutely, absolutely.
- 32:22And listen, we own a company. We serve the community, we
- 32:26profit off the community. There's nothing wrong with
- 32:29getting involved in nonprofit. It's it's in my opinion, it's
- 32:31what we should do. And I'm gonna tell you right
- 32:34now, when you get the nonprofits involved, the people come.
- 32:37That's all there is to it. It's the feel good make people
- 32:39say, oh, that's what you want. Do this job for everybody
- 32:44listening. He is in a perfect point.
- 32:47Case example of You are your brand.
- 32:50Your face is out there, you're everywhere in the city.
