- 0:53you part of the fam.
- 0:58It's lunchtime!
- 1:02what's going on everybody that was
- 1:05impressive it's it felt like a release
- 1:08like i needed to like release that out
- 1:11after the morning i've had exercise the
- 1:14demons i'm just going to talk about it
- 1:16for a second and then we can move
- 1:18on but two things happened this morning
- 1:24and both of them are the are something
- 1:25that like just
- 1:28lights the fuse on my anger template
- 1:31temper stuff one getting a pissing match
- 1:37with me okay yeah so we have we
- 1:42have tickets we have a vendor they assign
- 1:45me the ticket i'm like i can't do
- 1:47anything about it it's your problem i sign
- 1:50it back to them and we go back
- 1:52and forth like four or five times
- 1:55And I put like why it should be
- 1:57back with them and their response is,
- 2:00nope, back to you.
- 2:04Then when you do respond,
- 2:08you come back and say,
- 2:10maybe you don't know what you're talking
- 2:12about and you should get this person and
- 2:13that person involved.
- 2:19Are you flipping kidding me?
- 2:25We hired you as a vendor.
- 2:28You don't get to come back and tell
- 2:30me what I don't know.
- 2:35Oh, I love people like that.
- 2:41Son of a... Yeah.
- 2:45So... Yes.
- 2:57There we go.
- 3:00So another annoying thing that I wanted to
- 3:02talk to my friend about is,
- 3:06so my wife likes to turn on lights.
- 3:10Yeah.
- 3:13We have a lot of windows in our
- 3:15main floor.
- 3:17Lots of natural light comes in.
- 3:21We have a bright white light in our
- 3:22kitchen because when it's nighttime,
- 3:24it's really dark in there.
- 3:26You need the bright white light.
- 3:28Sure.
- 3:28But I don't need it at three o'clock
- 3:29in the afternoon.
- 3:30Not generally speaking.
- 3:33That's what that bell of fire is outside
- 3:34for.
- 3:34That's what we have those windows for.
- 3:37And then when I'm sitting on my couch
- 3:40watching TV, the lamp is right beside me.
- 3:45It'll be seven o'clock.
- 3:46It doesn't get dark till nine thirty here
- 3:47now.
- 3:50And it'll be like seven o'clock and she'll
- 3:53tell Alexa to turn on the light.
- 3:56Like,
- 3:57why the hell do I need that when
- 4:00I got that beautiful natural light coming
- 4:02through the window?
- 4:03It's bright enough to go lay out and
- 4:05get a tan at seven o'clock.
- 4:07Why are we turning on lamps?
- 4:10And she's on her tablet anyway,
- 4:13which is illuminated.
- 4:14I was about to say, you don't need...
- 4:15Oh...
- 4:20I could spend the vast majority of my
- 4:23evening,
- 4:24the only time I like to turn lights
- 4:26on is if I'm cooking so I can
- 4:27see what I'm doing.
- 4:29Other than that, darkness, bring it.
- 4:32Give me all the dark.
- 4:35If you actually like a dark,
- 4:38I like a movie theater atmosphere, right?
- 4:41No, not my wife.
- 4:44Let's turn on the landing lights at JFK.
- 4:51oh every light in the house is on
- 4:55uh there are two types of people in
- 4:56the world those that like lights and those
- 4:58who like natural light and they somehow
- 5:01always marry each other i love like on
- 5:06a saturday afternoon if we're home like
- 5:08that not doing anything we'll open up all
- 5:10the blinds we got the same thing we
- 5:12got a whole wall in the living room
- 5:14that's just basically just windows
- 5:16um and another one same wall just on
- 5:19a different level i guess you could say
- 5:21is where the dining area is same thing
- 5:23it's just florida ceiling windows and if
- 5:25it's sunny like i don't need electricity
- 5:28bro like turn that off we'll open this
- 5:31and just and we'll watch the ducks run
- 5:33around and do stuff and not a big
- 5:36deal i do not hit need i don't
- 5:39i don't know
- 5:41joseph says unscrew the light bulbs just
- 5:43enough to where they don't go on and
- 5:46then you know what happens joseph then
- 5:47it's uh dear you need to go change
- 5:50the light bulb in that then i just
- 5:53get a honeydew list i gotta i gotta
- 5:55i got a list of light bulbs i
- 5:56need to change at the house right now
- 5:59this one's out that one's out this one's
- 6:01out that one's out good good i hope
- 6:03they're all out
- 6:07We have a light over our landing coming
- 6:10down from the upstairs and it's way up
- 6:12there.
- 6:13Like it's a ladder job.
- 6:17And the light that they, it really,
- 6:19I wish we could replace it.
- 6:21It it's stupid,
- 6:23but I can't fit my hand inside.
- 6:26Oh, the lights.
- 6:29My hand is too big.
- 6:31Cause the, the gap is yeah.
- 6:34My wife is deathly afraid of heights.
- 6:39Sorry.
- 6:40So I literally have to like get someone
- 6:43to come over and change it because I
- 6:45cannot get my hand in to do it.
- 6:47Can I borrow your hand for a couple
- 6:49of minutes?
- 6:50I just need to,
- 6:50I'm going to get this.
- 6:53Yeah.
- 6:53It's got those stupid fake candle things
- 6:56with the fake candle lights.
- 6:58No, no, no, no thanks.
- 7:06Uh, Joseph, go fix Meg's light bulbs.
- 7:13i like wayne's response yeah program alexa
- 7:17to say is that really necessary every time
- 7:19she turns on the light and do it
- 7:21like hal nine thousand is that really
- 7:24necessary julie yeah uh is that why my
- 7:31lights don't work possibly
- 7:40I need to have someone come over to
- 7:42do it because I can't get my hand
- 7:43in there.
- 7:46Clip it.
- 7:46There we go.
- 7:50You know,
- 7:50I accidentally say stupid things that
- 7:53should be clipped all the time.
- 7:54And I don't know,
- 7:56maybe that's why I do this show.
- 8:00It's a perk.
- 8:01It's a perk.
- 8:03What did it say?
- 8:03It's a feature, not a bug.
- 8:04Yeah.
- 8:09watched a lot of dave interviews really i
- 8:13haven't watched the first one he is he
- 8:16i bet you he's done twenty in the
- 8:20last five days it is i see a
- 8:22lot i get notifications every time one
- 8:24gets published so i mean they've been
- 8:26coming up like crazy i've and so what
- 8:29i do is like as i'm doing a
- 8:31job i just i put them on and
- 8:33let them like run one after another
- 8:38Well,
- 8:38this morning I watched the follow one.
- 8:43I pride myself on knowing kind of the
- 8:45backgrounds of different athletes.
- 8:48Didn't know she was a teen athlete.
- 8:51I had no idea about that either.
- 8:53Didn't know she was a team athlete.
- 8:56Also did not know that.
- 8:59And it just was really like I was
- 9:04caught off guard that I didn't.
- 9:08I didn't know.
- 9:09No, I, I mean,
- 9:13she's been on healer did like a whole
- 9:16weekend thing with her.
- 9:17She's been a couple of places and I
- 9:20that's news to me.
- 9:21I, uh,
- 9:25I was at syndicate when she blew up.
- 9:27Like I w I saw that story take
- 9:30place.
- 9:32We've been talking a lot about stories and
- 9:35that is a crazy story.
- 9:40The fact that she's made the games now
- 9:41and came so close,
- 9:44blows up on the final event,
- 9:46misses for a year,
- 9:48and then comes back and gets in.
- 9:51Plus everything she's went through this
- 9:52year.
- 9:52If you haven't seen any of the stuff
- 9:55that's happened with either the Hiller
- 9:57video or she had mono this year.
- 10:01She was banned from doing CrossFit by her
- 10:04doctor.
- 10:05uh to help her recover that that whole
- 10:08that whole series of uh events i guess
- 10:12was i was chuckling the entire time
- 10:15because like every time doctor told her
- 10:16not to do something she was like really
- 10:18though like do i really need to not
- 10:21do it because she ended up doing the
- 10:24way and you know more or less what
- 10:25she wants to do anyway
- 10:28Alito says, not a mention of Pat Vellner.
- 10:30And Grace's does answer down below.
- 10:31But on his week in review,
- 10:34he said that he has reached out to
- 10:36Pat twice via email.
- 10:38Pat has not responded.
- 10:40He has reached out to Danielle Brandon
- 10:42several times via text.
- 10:46And has now reached out to her agent
- 10:48to try to get her on.
- 10:53And Roman has declined.
- 10:58I wonder what that's about.
- 10:59He says he ain't got time for that.
- 11:03I mean, Roman seems like a nice guy.
- 11:06You know what I mean?
- 11:08I,
- 11:09my first thought honestly was the language
- 11:11barriers.
- 11:12Maybe he just isn't comfortable.
- 11:16Um, but I don't, I mean,
- 11:19I don't know.
- 11:20I don't know Roman enough to know.
- 11:26just don't see where he's too busy to
- 11:27have a thirty minute conversation with
- 11:28dave well and that's what dave said on
- 11:32his week in review like he's like i'm
- 11:36here trying to like create storylines and
- 11:40all this kind of stuff um those things
- 11:43and get views and he seemed hurt by
- 11:48the fact that he said no like i'm
- 11:50like dave hurt not like you and i
- 11:52get hurt right um
- 11:55But, like, Dave seemed, like,
- 12:00put off that he said no.
- 12:04I mean,
- 12:05he's been here for quite some time.
- 12:07Roman has.
- 12:09He's been to the games several times.
- 12:10Like,
- 12:13I can understand from Dave's point of
- 12:14view, like,
- 12:14I don't understand why you don't want to
- 12:16just talk to me.
- 12:17Daniel Brandon is a whole different story.
- 12:20And he was asked in –
- 12:25One of the comments,
- 12:26how he felt about Pat Vellner being a
- 12:28part of the PFAA that wanted him fired.
- 12:31And would he bring that up if Pat
- 12:33came on the show?
- 12:34And Dave actually answered that no,
- 12:36he wouldn't bring it up.
- 12:37It doesn't mean anything to him.
- 12:39He said,
- 12:39a lot of people have said a lot
- 12:40of things about me.
- 12:42And if I held grudges,
- 12:43I'd be a miserable human being.
- 12:46And he wouldn't talk to hardly any of
- 12:47them.
- 12:50Let's be honest.
- 12:53If you are a regular CrossFitter who has
- 12:55done the Open any time since it's been
- 12:57a thing,
- 12:57you have cussed out Dave Castro at least
- 13:00once.
- 13:01I can promise you.
- 13:03I thought it was good insight.
- 13:05He goes,
- 13:06I don't need to bring it up again.
- 13:09He's moved on.
- 13:11It happened.
- 13:12It's a thing.
- 13:14In the same breath,
- 13:15Roman's really pissing me off for not
- 13:17doing this interview.
- 13:17Yeah.
- 13:21Well, he's probably, he's figuring like,
- 13:22you know, most everybody else is doing it.
- 13:26Pat's ghosted him, no response, whatever.
- 13:29Danielle Brandon's Danielle Brandon.
- 13:30And Roman doesn't seem like that type of
- 13:33guy.
- 13:33So that's probably why he's like,
- 13:35I don't understand why it's happening.
- 13:37well and it's also he probably is like
- 13:40listen i've i've let a lot of bygones
- 13:42be bygones and doing these interviews i've
- 13:45interviewed fee i'm trying to interview
- 13:47velner i'm trying to be fair about it
- 13:49all and if someone's still holding a
- 13:51grudge against me that's pretty stupid
- 13:53yeah it's a while um
- 14:04Ortega says,
- 14:05so we're really surprised he said no and
- 14:07DB said no.
- 14:08DB did not say no.
- 14:10DB didn't say anything.
- 14:11She didn't say anything.
- 14:13She did respond once and then didn't
- 14:16respond again.
- 14:17Yeah.
- 14:18But it was not a no.
- 14:20No.
- 14:21Left him on read since then.
- 14:30Uh,
- 14:31Dave sounded more annoyed that he had to,
- 14:33has to talk to DB's agent,
- 14:35which is pretty standard.
- 14:36Well,
- 14:36especially if Danielle reached out to him
- 14:39to ask about workouts.
- 14:40That's exactly what I was fixing to say.
- 14:43Like you want to text me and ask
- 14:44me about workouts and whatever,
- 14:45and trying to get me to give up
- 14:46information.
- 14:47But when I ask you if you want
- 14:48to come on and just do this athlete
- 14:50interview with me for thirty minutes and
- 14:51you let me know and you just ghost
- 14:52me, that could be a problem.
- 14:55I can understand that would be like,
- 14:57that's a whole different type of
- 14:58relationship at that point.
- 15:02Judy Reed,
- 15:02could Roman have declined because of
- 15:04interview time, et cetera?
- 15:05Something totally innocent.
- 15:07Listen,
- 15:08Dave has been accommodating to just about
- 15:11everybody.
- 15:12The proven camp,
- 15:14he did all on their rest day.
- 15:15Yep.
- 15:18He has moved around to accommodate the
- 15:20athletes as much as he possibly can.
- 15:25I think Roman just doesn't want to do
- 15:27the interview.
- 15:28Yeah.
- 15:30Which is his prerogative.
- 15:32But in all fairness, he didn't ghost him.
- 15:35And he said no.
- 15:37I'm going to tell you something.
- 15:38In my line of actual work,
- 15:39my work stuff,
- 15:41I would much rather you tell me to
- 15:43get bent than just disappear.
- 15:46Tell me you don't like me.
- 15:47Tell me you don't like what I'm trying
- 15:48to sell you.
- 15:49Tell me we don't like what I'm doing.
- 15:51Cool.
- 15:51I can deal with that.
- 15:52Not a problem.
- 15:54But don't just vanish.
- 15:57Because then I'm going to keep bugging
- 15:59you.
- 15:59I'm going to keep poking you until you
- 16:01say something one way or the other.
- 16:06At least Roman said, no, I'm good.
- 16:07I don't want to do that.
- 16:09Yeah, because I will tell you,
- 16:11I've had DB on the show a couple
- 16:13times.
- 16:15She is not an easy person to schedule,
- 16:19to get pinned down on when to do
- 16:23an interview.
- 16:24We've done a couple great interviews with
- 16:26her.
- 16:29I've enjoyed every bit of them,
- 16:31but the process getting to that point was
- 16:34painful.
- 16:34Yeah, I can see that.
- 16:41Yeah.
- 16:43And at the end of the day,
- 16:44I guess it is Roman's prerogative to say
- 16:46no.
- 16:47Yeah.
- 16:47I mean, any,
- 16:48any one of them could have,
- 16:49it's well within your, he's an adult,
- 16:52right?
- 16:53He's a grownup and Hey man, I don't,
- 16:56I don't want to do that.
- 16:58I mean,
- 16:59I guess he could have went beast boat
- 17:00and went and got on and just said,
- 17:03I'm just here to avoid the fine.
- 17:05I'm just here.
- 17:06So I don't get fine.
- 17:10I'm just here.
- 17:10So I don't get fine.
- 17:11My God,
- 17:12that's one of my favorite interviews ever.
- 17:19Ortega, bro.
- 17:19One of her sponsors sent me to do
- 17:21media for,
- 17:22and we could not ever schedule a time
- 17:24and sponsor just said, forget it.
- 17:29I, I cannot dispute any of that.
- 17:31I've had very similar.
- 17:36And I went,
- 17:37I had to go through her agent on
- 17:38part of it too.
- 17:39And still I,
- 17:44Some people are just busy, man.
- 17:45They got busy lives.
- 17:47Just busy.
- 17:47She's out there doing stuff,
- 17:49moving and shaking.
- 17:51Again,
- 17:51she was entertaining the troops this
- 17:53weekend.
- 17:56Perhaps I should make the games interviews
- 17:57part of the games contract.
- 18:01He has all of them but three.
- 18:05Do we need to add language to a
- 18:07contract because three out of sixty don't
- 18:10want to do it?
- 18:11No, we don't.
- 18:12And we don't even know if three don't
- 18:14want to do it.
- 18:14We know one doesn't want to do it.
- 18:17We know one doesn't want to do it.
- 18:18Two are being difficult.
- 18:19Yeah, have not responded.
- 18:24Did you hear the part where one of
- 18:27Dave's old SEAL buddies said, hey,
- 18:29why didn't you invite Ben Smith to the
- 18:33opening ceremonies?
- 18:35And Dave's like, we did.
- 18:38And he reached out to Ben and said,
- 18:40uh...
- 18:41Why don't you read your email?
- 18:45Hey, man.
- 18:46You might want to check that.
- 18:51And then he confirmed that Ben is coming
- 18:53to the opening ceremonies.
- 18:55Turns out Ben is really bad at reading
- 18:57emails.
- 18:58He has checked it and is in fact
- 19:00coming.
- 19:03Yeah.
- 19:03I can believe that.
- 19:05And I know most of those people probably
- 19:09follow Ben.
- 19:11dave so like the dm thing probably isn't
- 19:13that difficult when i was doing interviews
- 19:16until you could get a follow back from
- 19:18an athlete tracking them down through dm
- 19:21was painful
- 19:23they probably get a million of them a
- 19:25day just random stuff people were like
- 19:28because it all goes i always see your
- 19:30messenger if somebody's like responding to
- 19:33your story or something like that so like
- 19:35you get up you probably got eight hundred
- 19:36notifications it's hard to nobody's
- 19:39sifting through all that and go oh let
- 19:40me see if someone is following me
- 19:43someone's trying to message me like that's
- 19:45got to be tricky to do
- 19:48When I even, like over the years,
- 19:50got phone numbers, got email addresses,
- 19:55and still like had a difficult time
- 20:00getting some of these younger athletes to
- 20:02respond.
- 20:03Oh, I bet.
- 20:04And like six weeks later, oh,
- 20:06I was just going through my texts and
- 20:07saw you texted me back in January.
- 20:11Oh, okay.
- 20:12Yeah.
- 20:13Appreciate it.
- 20:14I'm glad you followed up.
- 20:15Yeah.
- 20:18So glad you followed up.
- 20:19I'm glad you got there with me.
- 20:22What about Guy?
- 20:23Did he do an interview?
- 20:24I don't think it's done yet.
- 20:28But he did mention, like,
- 20:29Medeiros is still coming.
- 20:32uh i must it sounded like he still
- 20:35has some like scheduled and are happening
- 20:37in the next few days the only people
- 20:40he did not have an answer for were
- 20:43velner brandon roman so um so yeah
- 20:55The other thing I learned in the follow
- 20:57interview was,
- 20:58of the thirty female athletes,
- 21:00ten did the teen games.
- 21:04Oh, see, where did I see that?
- 21:06Was that on his...
- 21:09It must be in a clip somewhere that
- 21:10I saw that he was saying that,
- 21:13just talking about how many of them,
- 21:14the females,
- 21:15were teen athletes before and how him and
- 21:17Boz are having a conversation when they
- 21:19instituted the teens that, man,
- 21:20it'd be awesome if one day people go
- 21:23from the teen games to the actual games.
- 21:26And it looks like it's happening,
- 21:27or being a lot more prevalent anyway,
- 21:28on the females,
- 21:29on the lady side of the board than
- 21:31it is the guys.
- 21:33I heard in one of his interviews,
- 21:34he talked about the men's side too,
- 21:36and it's high this year.
- 21:38This year it is, yeah.
- 21:40Yeah.
- 21:41But I can't remember the exact number,
- 21:42so I didn't want to quote it.
- 21:44I mean, you got Dallin, you got...
- 21:49James Tudor.
- 21:50James Tudor.
- 21:54I don't think Justin was a teen.
- 21:59He was not.
- 22:00No.
- 22:01So he just wasn't a teen games athlete.
- 22:05So I can't remember,
- 22:06but I know it was close to what
- 22:08the women's were.
- 22:08And it's like the first time the men's
- 22:11had caught up to that.
- 22:13Yeah.
- 22:14It always seems easier for the women to
- 22:15Trent, you know,
- 22:16or it's more translatable as far as I
- 22:18was concerned, you know,
- 22:19Haley went straight from one to the other
- 22:21tie.
- 22:23Mr. Jenkins.
- 22:25Yeah.
- 22:27So, yeah,
- 22:29it's starting to climb up there too.
- 22:32Which is cool to see.
- 22:35The last thing I want to say about
- 22:36Dave,
- 22:38he talked about the flip turns and the
- 22:40dives.
- 22:41Here we go.
- 22:44I'm not going to go into it again.
- 22:46Yeah, good.
- 22:47He did mention some safety reasons,
- 22:49which I said if he said that,
- 22:50I was okay with it.
- 22:52Sure.
- 22:53Not sure I completely under... Whatever.
- 22:58It is what it is.
- 23:00But what he did say at the end
- 23:01of it is,
- 23:02what I love about this is that it's
- 23:05creating a reaction.
- 23:09And people are talking about it and
- 23:11complaining about it.
- 23:13And I was like, that's the old Dave.
- 23:17And didn't he also say like,
- 23:19and they haven't figured out what I
- 23:21actually mean by that yet.
- 23:24Yeah.
- 23:24But I mean, all that part.
- 23:26Sure.
- 23:26He's trying to explain why.
- 23:29And it comes down to some safety stuff
- 23:31and maybe like what he's used to as
- 23:33a seal and blah, blah, blah.
- 23:38Again, he said safety.
- 23:39And I said, I would,
- 23:40I would lay off if it was a
- 23:42safety issue.
- 23:44It's a dive I completely understand.
- 23:47Is the pool shallow enough?
- 23:48Sure.
- 23:50That makes sense.
- 23:51Well, he's saying slip on the deck.
- 23:55If you're doing something else outside,
- 23:57he said hypothetically,
- 23:58if you're doing something outside on the
- 24:00deck and then have to go from whatever
- 24:03that is into the pool,
- 24:05running and diving in on a wet deck
- 24:09is not safe.
- 24:12I've slipped and fallen on a deck.
- 24:14Had a concussion.
- 24:16Whole bit.
- 24:17It happens.
- 24:19But then he went to the flip turn
- 24:21and shallow water blackout.
- 24:26Sounds like a band.
- 24:32Sounds like a Southern rock band.
- 24:35I had less understanding for that.
- 24:39One, they're...
- 24:41only need like two lifeguards for a
- 24:43handful of lanes or ten lanes right if
- 24:47someone doesn't come up on a flip turn
- 24:49you can get in there within fifteen
- 24:51seconds and pull them out um but again
- 24:58i said if he said for safety reasons
- 25:00i would lay off and so i'm laying
- 25:03off hold on for a second because i'm
- 25:09so confused
- 25:10That sounds like a terrible light beer.
- 25:15Shallow water blackout.
- 25:17Good old shallow water blackout.
- 25:18Coming to a saloon near you.
- 25:19Here we go.
- 25:20What we're looking at is it's when a
- 25:27swimmer faints caused by lack of oxygen to
- 25:29the brain triggered by holding your breath
- 25:33repeatedly for too long without immediate
- 25:35rescue, swimmer quickly drowns.
- 25:36Hmm.
- 25:43It would have to be a really slow
- 25:45flip turn.
- 25:46I mean, like, super slow.
- 25:50Slower than mine, which is pretty slow,
- 25:53FYI, because I just figured it out.
- 25:55But I will say, in fairness,
- 25:57we are only two years removed from a
- 26:00swimming death at the games.
- 26:03I get that part of it.
- 26:04If you're going to be overly cautious,
- 26:07okay.
- 26:10I get that part of it.
- 26:15But it is what it is.
- 26:18Yeah, it is.
- 26:22We are not changing Dave's mind between
- 26:24now and July.
- 26:26We wouldn't, if it was July,
- 26:29twenty second, twenty, twenty seven,
- 26:30we're not going to change Dave's mind.
- 26:32Dave's going to do what Dave's going to
- 26:33do.
- 26:34And if he decides he's going to change
- 26:36his mind, then yeah, sure.
- 26:37And they'll change it up to,
- 26:38like you said, what we said before,
- 26:40up to the very last second, like three,
- 26:42two, one.
- 26:42Oh, hold on for a second.
- 26:45You guys can dive in.
- 26:47Go.
- 26:49Other than that, no.
- 26:53Judy said,
- 26:54I wonder if they're swimming with
- 26:55something strapped to them.
- 26:57Whoa.
- 26:59Strapped to their back.
- 27:02Got it.
- 27:04I think that there's no way in hell.
- 27:08No.
- 27:08There's no way they are adding difficulty
- 27:11to the swim after taking out diving and
- 27:14flip turns.
- 27:15Yeah.
- 27:15We're going to take out diving and flip
- 27:17turns and we're going to make you all
- 27:18swim with a thirty pound rook.
- 27:22Because safety.
- 27:24Enjoy yourselves.
- 27:29I'm hoping they have to get out of
- 27:31the pool on both ends to do something.
- 27:32They won't have the opportunity to have to
- 27:35do flip turns.
- 27:37That could be it too.
- 27:42It could be that there won't be a
- 27:43need for a flip turn because you are.
- 27:45People will stop bitching about it if
- 27:46that's the case, right?
- 27:49If you got to do a dumbbell snatch
- 27:50on this side and a bar muscle up
- 27:51on the other side and you got to
- 27:53swim to make your transitions,
- 27:55then people will quit.
- 27:56At least we'll quit bitching about it.
- 27:59they're still going to complain about a no
- 28:00dive in.
- 28:01But because that's going to be weird,
- 28:03dude, like he's gonna hop in the pool.
- 28:06Just Yeah, cannonball.
- 28:09Like, what's like?
- 28:13And Lito is right.
- 28:14I think the original reasoning that
- 28:15annoyed people was to remove competitive
- 28:17advantage.
- 28:19Yeah.
- 28:20Which that's,
- 28:21that's another horse that we have beaten.
- 28:23If you just mentioned safety.
- 28:24Yes, it's silly,
- 28:25but more would understand.
- 28:27Yes.
- 28:34Joey, you got to understand,
- 28:36Dave's going to post stuff just to mess
- 28:38with you.
- 28:39Have you ever seen his open clues?
- 28:43Come on.
- 28:44Yeah.
- 28:46I thought everybody would get that one.
- 28:48No, you did not.
- 28:49And if you did, nobody's ever gotten one.
- 28:52Nobody's ever looked at one of Dave's
- 28:53clues and be like, oh, yeah,
- 28:55makes perfect sense.
- 28:56Hasn't happened.
- 28:59So if an athlete accidentally dives in,
- 29:01it's a no rep,
- 29:01and they have to get out and jump
- 29:02back in?
- 29:04It could be that.
- 29:05That's an excellent question.
- 29:07It could be an arbitrary penalty of time.
- 29:09Yeah, which is probably a lot more likely.
- 29:12Although that would be funny.
- 29:14Get out!
- 29:14Yeah.
- 29:17Is the chance of them hearing you no
- 29:19rep them?
- 29:20No.
- 29:21I'm going to tell you right now,
- 29:23this past year, swimming at Legends,
- 29:24my wife and everybody yelling at me the
- 29:26entire time I was in the water,
- 29:27apparently,
- 29:28and I know that because I saw the
- 29:29video afterwards,
- 29:31because you can't hear nothing once you're
- 29:33in the water.
- 29:33All you hear is splash, splash,
- 29:34splash when people are swimming around
- 29:36you.
- 29:36You hear water rushing by your ears.
- 29:39That's it.
- 29:39When I was swimming all the time, right,
- 29:41as a swimmer, you can hear some things,
- 29:45but it's very muffled.
- 29:46You're not getting exact words or...
- 29:50like you're aware of the fact that people
- 29:52are making noise that's about that's about
- 29:54that's for me anyway that's about as far
- 29:56as i got um uh my vote is
- 30:05on that one you'd have to get out
- 30:06and go back in or repeat the lap
- 30:09if you can't hear it till the other
- 30:10end well go around do it again so
- 30:14let me ask you this if if they
- 30:16can't dive in is everybody going to just
- 30:19start in a pool
- 30:22It sounded like feet first jump by what
- 30:24Dave was saying.
- 30:26But I don't know.
- 30:27That is so silly.
- 30:29Andrew Sten wants judges in scuba gear
- 30:31under the water going...
- 30:34absolutely is your how's your scuba uh
- 30:37certification stand is it pretty good like
- 30:39it's up to date and you got gear
- 30:43the feet first jump yes i'm with tristan
- 30:45the feet first jump in is absolutely
- 30:47bananas and you know that as a swimmer
- 30:50like you're just gonna jump in feet first
- 30:51and then what just lean over and start
- 30:55swimming like go all the way down to
- 30:56the bottom and then scoot off the bottom
- 31:00we can't flip turn you didn't say we
- 31:02jumping in feet first all the way down
- 31:04hit the bottom shoot yourself as far as
- 31:07you can go that's what i would do
- 31:11if i had to do that if the
- 31:13pool was the right size it's not a
- 31:15you know ten twelve feet deep whatever
- 31:18shoot down to the bottom
- 31:21Bend your knees.
- 31:22Get your feet loaded up.
- 31:25Shoot yourself off in any direction.
- 31:27Dolphin kick as far as you can until
- 31:29you break the water.
- 31:30I mean,
- 31:31that's what I'm doing if I got to
- 31:32jump in feet first.
- 31:38So I want to talk about one more
- 31:39thing before we end the lunch show today.
- 31:41Yes, sir.
- 31:42And that is on the Mayhem Athlete
- 31:44podcast...
- 31:50And now his name escapes me.
- 31:52I know you're talking about,
- 31:54I can't think of his name either.
- 31:56Brennan Brennan.
- 31:57Yes.
- 31:58Brennan Brennan talked about that.
- 32:01The games needed to be known and knowable
- 32:04that if we want to see the athletes
- 32:07at their best,
- 32:09that we needed to see them, um,
- 32:15know what the workouts are,
- 32:16be able to work on those workouts,
- 32:19and then perform them at the highest
- 32:21ability at the games.
- 32:25The examples he used is that Tom Brady
- 32:28knows what he's up against.
- 32:31Steph Curry knows what he's up against.
- 32:32LeBron James knows what,
- 32:33Tiger Woods knows what he's up against.
- 32:36And that is very faulty reasoning.
- 32:42Tom Brady was the best at what he
- 32:44did because he adjusted to what was coming
- 32:48at him faster than everybody else.
- 32:51You know what Tom Brady knew was going
- 32:53on?
- 32:53A football game.
- 32:56He didn't know what defense they were
- 32:57running.
- 32:58He didn't know what blitz package might be
- 33:00coming.
- 33:01He didn't know what coverage they were in
- 33:03going into the play.
- 33:05Now,
- 33:05when he got to the line of scrimmage,
- 33:06he had to decipher all of that.
- 33:10And depending on what he sees,
- 33:12everything changes.
- 33:17Steph Curry doesn't know how they're going
- 33:18to defend him when he dribbles up the
- 33:21court.
- 33:21The basketball one is a worse example than
- 33:24the football one.
- 33:24At least the football one,
- 33:25there's eleven guys on the field.
- 33:26You're going to have either three down
- 33:28linemen or four down linemen.
- 33:29They're going to line up,
- 33:30basically matching up what you have.
- 33:32Basketball?
- 33:34The amount of different defensive looks
- 33:35you can get and still have me disguise
- 33:38and whatnot because it's fluid.
- 33:40It's moving the entire time.
- 33:41There's no lining up every single time.
- 33:43That's an even worse descriptor.
- 33:46It's like saying that when Messi gets on
- 33:48the field to play soccer that he knows
- 33:51exactly what he's facing every time.
- 33:53No, he doesn't.
- 33:53You might know that they're going to play
- 33:55a low block defense so they're just going
- 33:57to be compact and just be in front
- 33:58to goal.
- 33:59But other than that, no.
- 34:01What you have to be
- 34:03is prepared for the unknown and the
- 34:08unknowable and adjust to that as much as
- 34:10you possibly can.
- 34:11It's almost like somebody has said that
- 34:14before.
- 34:14I'm trying to remember who it was.
- 34:16Give me a minute.
- 34:17I'll think about it.
- 34:18So in addition to that,
- 34:20he mentioned golfers,
- 34:22Scotty Scheffler and Tiger Woods.
- 34:25Even in golf,
- 34:26they changed the hole position.
- 34:28They changed the tee box area.
- 34:32You don't know the gust of wind that
- 34:33might come along.
- 34:37Anything like that.
- 34:40Any of it, all of it,
- 34:43any of it, all of it.
- 34:44And I like Mark saying better bands or,
- 34:46or individual sports,
- 34:47like team sports are absolutely the worst,
- 34:49worst examples.
- 34:53You know what's known and knowable?
- 34:55Track and field.
- 34:57You're going to run from a hundred meters
- 34:59from here to there in a straight line.
- 35:03But you still have wind aided.
- 35:05You still have conditions that come up.
- 35:08And I'm not saying it's as drastic as,
- 35:11hey,
- 35:11we're going to do unbroken single unders.
- 35:14Well, personally,
- 35:15if you can't do an unbroken single under,
- 35:17that's on you.
- 35:19one of my favorite videos i've ever seen
- 35:22is when henshaw made them do that at
- 35:25um some mayhem camp and they got our
- 35:27own video he was like we're gonna do
- 35:29single owners today and everybody went
- 35:31what because none of them had done single
- 35:33unders and golly knows how long and the
- 35:36majority of them struggled and it was
- 35:41hilarious to watch to watch rich froning
- 35:45try to do single unders and your body's
- 35:47so used to prep the entire time that
- 35:50now it's like oh you want me to
- 35:53oh i haven't done these in forever yeah
- 35:55no uh joey says i want to see
- 36:00tia struggle on single unders alex's shoe
- 36:02come off on the field jason blacking out
- 36:04on a moderate weight snatch
- 36:06I agree with all of that.
- 36:08Where I do think,
- 36:09and I think CJ made a great point
- 36:11last night on WODprep,
- 36:12is that if it's something completely new,
- 36:17like when they first brought out pegboards
- 36:21and three people could complete them,
- 36:24that was not fun to watch.
- 36:26No.
- 36:27Right?
- 36:32That, I think, needs to be...
- 36:36If it's something like that,
- 36:37like when they showed up with the snail
- 36:39and nobody had seen that before,
- 36:40like you hit it and all of a
- 36:42sudden you're expecting to be able to
- 36:43build up some momentum with it and it
- 36:45doesn't move,
- 36:46you can figure that out on the fly.
- 36:48But every athlete was able to move it.
- 36:50That's what I'm getting at.
- 36:51Now,
- 36:51whether they could move it at efficiency
- 36:54and at the speed,
- 36:56I'm okay with all that.
- 36:58The first time they did freestanding
- 36:59handstand push-ups –
- 37:01Nobody in the crowd knew.
- 37:02Nobody watching on TV knew what the
- 37:04standard was.
- 37:05The athletes didn't even freaking know
- 37:07what the standard was.
- 37:08And it looked like a mess.
- 37:11And it was the final event.
- 37:13Like,
- 37:15it was a bad look for the final
- 37:17event.
- 37:18Agreed.
- 37:21But I still want some unknown and
- 37:23unknowable.
- 37:23I just don't.
- 37:25Better preparedness on standards.
- 37:28The workouts themselves are largely, yes,
- 37:31we have a few workouts.
- 37:32They're going to give us probably a couple
- 37:33more,
- 37:33but there's twenty of them this year.
- 37:35Even last year, dude,
- 37:37how many workouts did they release before
- 37:40the athletes got there?
- 37:41Not a whole lot.
- 37:42And what Lito's saying makes perfect sense
- 37:45to me is that if we're going to
- 37:47have a new movement,
- 37:48give them the movement itself.
- 37:51Hey, get ready.
- 37:52You guys are going to have to do
- 37:53triple unders this year.
- 37:54Well,
- 37:55and I think maybe it was John Young,
- 37:56but the two of them were talking.
- 37:59Like,
- 38:00when they did the crossover double-unders,
- 38:01they put out a video of Boz doing
- 38:03crossover double-unders.
- 38:06And that was it.
- 38:07They didn't explain, like,
- 38:08but at least they knew they were kind
- 38:10of coming.
- 38:11Yeah.
- 38:13Right?
- 38:14If they would have put out that first
- 38:15year of the pegboards,
- 38:16just someone doing a pegboard on the
- 38:18CrossFit game site...
- 38:20You know, people would,
- 38:22some people would choose to like work on
- 38:24it and some would not just because they
- 38:26put it there.
- 38:26They didn't announce it as an event or
- 38:29right.
- 38:29You know what I mean?
- 38:30Yeah.
- 38:33You know,
- 38:34something else that's known and knowable,
- 38:37better recovery,
- 38:38better sleep with third Z and you can
- 38:42get yours for
- 38:48Or use promo code Jazzy at checkout and
- 38:51get fifteen percent off.
- 38:53And the other thing, you know,
- 38:55about third Z is you're not going to
- 38:56pop during a drug test.
- 38:57It's third party tested.
- 39:00You're not going to have the melatonin
- 39:01hangover.
- 39:03But you're going to get good night's
- 39:04sleep, full recovery,
- 39:06all that collagen protein,
- 39:07and you're going to be better for it
- 39:09the next day.
- 39:12It's a wonderful thing.
- 39:13Everyone needs sleep.
- 39:15Thank you, Vicky.
- 39:16Yes, thank you, Georgie.
- 39:17Joseph says,
- 39:18Katrin didn't know when she won.
- 39:20Katrin won because she refused to
- 39:22participate.
- 39:25Because she figured out she couldn't do
- 39:27it, and she said, well,
- 39:28I can't do that,
- 39:29so I'm not going to.
- 39:33Which I understand was well within the
- 39:35rules at that point,
- 39:36but that is why we now have minimum
- 39:38work requirements.
- 39:39I hate when people bring this up because
- 39:41it raises the hackles on the back of
- 39:44my neck.
- 39:47Oh, moving right along.
- 39:49Sorry, I get easily distracted.
- 39:50Mark Phillips, thank you.
- 39:51Ten dollars.
- 39:52Can't go full show with no girls to
- 39:54the games donations.
- 39:56Every super chat that is given.
- 39:57Thank you, Mark.
- 39:59Every chat,
- 40:00every super chat that is donated is going
- 40:02to Jamie and Carolyn to get them to
- 40:04the games.
- 40:05And we appreciate all the donations that
- 40:08have come in so far.
- 40:09And we're going to continue to take
- 40:10donations through this Sunday night show.
- 40:19can um be prepared to be pissing for
- 40:24two to three minutes straight as you don't
- 40:26wake up at all night that is a
- 40:29fact so that is a fact that is
- 40:32a fact plus you will sleep you relax
- 40:36so much that when you even if you
- 40:38get up to pee it's a long pee
- 40:40because like everything is dropped because
- 40:42you're so relaxed you're just like you're
- 40:44just standing there
- 40:46Really still mostly asleep.
- 40:48Cause I can,
- 40:49the couple of times I've taken it and
- 40:51did wake up to pee in the middle
- 40:53of the night, my head,
- 40:54I was asleep before my head hit the
- 40:56pillar, getting back into bed.
- 40:59It was like, yeah, done.
- 41:04Traint was too tired to make a third
- 41:06Z last night,
- 41:07and she's paying for it today.
- 41:08I hope to God I get to meet
- 41:10Winter one day, like in person,
- 41:12and just call her Traint.
- 41:14Traint!
- 41:15Give her a big hug,
- 41:15especially if I can yell it out when
- 41:16there's a lot of people around to look
- 41:18at her and go...
- 41:19Let's just hope it's not like to get
- 41:21you handcuffed,
- 41:23slam you down on the back of the
- 41:24car, and then...
- 41:27I, uh, I, my, uh,
- 41:29my days of doing stuff that would get
- 41:31me arrested or have at least not even
- 41:33arrested.
- 41:34Have me have a conversation with the
- 41:35police have been gone.
- 41:38Now,
- 41:38if I have a conversation with the police,
- 41:39it's probably cause I called them for
- 41:40something.
- 41:42Hey,
- 41:42I'm gonna need y'all to get over here.
- 41:43There's some shit going on.
- 41:46Yeah.
- 41:49Speaking of calling, I had a neighbor, uh,
- 41:54that we had a storm lightning struck hit
- 41:57a tree tree fell she called she called
- 42:02she called got a a quote on having
- 42:06it removed scheduled the removal hoa
- 42:10president reported her and find her for
- 42:12not removing the tree it's only been ten
- 42:16days
- 42:22find her for not removing a tree you
- 42:26know there was a big storm like lots
- 42:27of trees went down do you ever try
- 42:29to schedule a tree service person i have
- 42:32not thank god i don't need it but
- 42:34after a storm they're busy they're quite
- 42:38busy dude after hurricane ida last year or
- 42:40not last year good lord i was in
- 42:43but after hurricane ida
- 42:45the tree service people you could hear
- 42:48chainsaws around the parish from daylight
- 42:51till dusk from people just because so many
- 42:53trees that got knocked down here there and
- 42:55yonder they they show up at one spot
- 42:57cut it up and there's there's piles of
- 43:00brush and limbs and trunks and whatever
- 43:03else everywhere it was wild dude hoas are
- 43:07very stupid i am a member of one
- 43:09and much i hate to admit it i
- 43:11do not like it i went to one
- 43:12meeting and
- 43:14I ain't never been back.
- 43:17So here's a peek behind the curtain.
- 43:21I've gotten fined by my HOA several times.
- 43:25Several times, right?
- 43:27I picked black shingles for my roof when
- 43:30it got re-roofed.
- 43:31You son of a bitch.
- 43:32Black is not an approved shingle color.
- 43:37How dare you?
- 43:39And so I was racking up some fines.
- 43:44I put out a bookshelf for bulk pickup
- 43:46to come pick up and take away.
- 43:50I put it out too early.
- 43:51You son of a bitch.
- 43:53The night before was too early.
- 43:56I got a fine.
- 43:57I was refusing to pay the fines.
- 44:00I was taking a stand.
- 44:04My black shingles are not allowing black
- 44:07shingles.
- 44:07Not allowing black shingles is one hundred
- 44:08percent racist.
- 44:10Absolutely.
- 44:12And so I was refusing to pay the
- 44:14fines.
- 44:16On general principle.
- 44:17Yeah.
- 44:19And then they got serious and they were
- 44:20going to take me to court.
- 44:23Oh.
- 44:23So in Louisiana,
- 44:25the way the laws are set up,
- 44:27it's set up to protect the homeowner,
- 44:28not the HOA.
- 44:30So they can...
- 44:32I'm going to put a lien on your
- 44:34house.
- 44:34I'm going to put a lien on your
- 44:35house if you refuse to pay whatever
- 44:38arbitrary fines they decide to give you.
- 44:40But...
- 44:42As long as you don't sell your house,
- 44:44it doesn't matter.
- 44:46You can be there.
- 44:47I'm going to die in this house anyway.
- 44:49There's a dude in our neighborhood that
- 44:52has over twenty thousand dollars worth of
- 44:53fines.
- 44:54And every time he gets a new one,
- 44:56he's just like.
- 44:58Because he doesn't care because he's not
- 45:00moving like he's like, I'm not going.
- 45:02I'm not.
- 45:02I was here before this neighborhood was
- 45:04here.
- 45:05Y'all can all bite me.
- 45:07They've sold him into the neighborhood.
- 45:09So Julie Switzer got involved, said to me,
- 45:13said to me, okay,
- 45:15we owe all these fines that are going
- 45:17to take us to court.
- 45:18Send them five bucks.
- 45:21We will send them five dollars a month.
- 45:27Religiously,
- 45:28we're going to send them five dollars a
- 45:29month at the beginning of every month.
- 45:32Beautiful.
- 45:34And that's what we've been doing.
- 45:35And they are not taking us to court
- 45:38because they're getting five bucks a
- 45:40month.
- 45:41Here's your five bucks.
- 45:43Oh, wait.
- 45:44It's July.
- 45:45Here's your five bucks.
- 45:47That's fantastic.
- 45:47It's August.
- 45:48Here's another five dollars.
- 45:49Here's another five dollars.
- 45:52That is, yeah,
- 45:53the Clydesdale payment plan.
- 45:54Yep.
- 45:58God bless, Julie.
- 45:59That's amazing.
- 45:59Yep.
- 46:02she's like well they can't say we're not
- 46:03paying she's not wrong so yeah world cup
- 46:14update from omar uh argentina is losing to
- 46:18egypt yeah it was one nil earlier i
- 46:20saw that i had the score update come
- 46:21up that's not that shouldn't be happening
- 46:25fyi in case you have no idea about
- 46:27soccer egypt should not be beating
- 46:29argentina
- 46:31like the guy who was told he had
- 46:33to build a fence in front of his
- 46:34boat so he painted a picture of the
- 46:36boat on the fence dude have you seen
- 46:38that i haven't it is legit it is
- 46:42legit like the boat is still behind the
- 46:44fence but now there's a where the fence
- 46:46is it's just a picture of the front
- 46:48it's amazing
- 46:50It's some shit I would do.
- 46:51A hundred percent.
- 46:54Oh, okay.
- 46:55I'll put a fence up.
- 46:57Don't even worry about it.
- 46:58Got it.
- 46:58Not a big deal.
- 47:01That is fantastic.
- 47:03I don't like mine because the stuff that
- 47:05I do want them to enforce,
- 47:09the stuff that I do want them to
- 47:10address and whatnot, they don't.
- 47:13And that's the shitty thing.
- 47:15My neighbor, like three houses down,
- 47:18had a hayfield in his front yard.
- 47:21And you know that it's full of like
- 47:22black snakes and whatever else.
- 47:25Yeah.
- 47:26Rats.
- 47:27And that goes on for months.
- 47:31I put a bookshelf out for the garbage
- 47:33man to pick up and I get a
- 47:35fine.
- 47:36How dare you?
- 47:39How dare you?
- 47:41When they first fined me for the black
- 47:43shingles,
- 47:44I was going to paint all the trim
- 47:45on my house black because it was illegal
- 47:47too.
- 47:48Yeah.
- 47:50To match my shingles.
- 47:52This is why we're friends because I am
- 47:53that level of petty as well.
- 47:56And it took Julie Switzer to say.
- 48:00Yeah.
- 48:02Just don't do that.
- 48:04We'll just give him five bucks a month.
- 48:05Oh, so I'm catching up.
- 48:12Apparently, you know that as a swimmer.
- 48:16Yeah.
- 48:17All right.
- 48:19Well,
- 48:19I'm going to get back to the shitty
- 48:21workday that I am in the middle of.
- 48:24Hopefully things improve by the end of the
- 48:26day.
- 48:28And if it doesn't,
- 48:29you only got a couple hours left.
- 48:30So it's fine.
- 48:32Yeah, I got half my day,
- 48:33four more hours to go.
- 48:36Man,
- 48:37I'll give you all my agent my one
- 48:41HOA story when I get an opportunity to
- 48:44because it's, it's pretty entertaining.
- 48:47I may or may not have crossed out
- 48:48a seventy eight year old man.
- 48:49It's fine.
- 48:53All right, everybody.
