- 0:00Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm a Fabian drammer in Biltze.
- 0:03Speaker 2: And my name's Okoy guitars and vocals. Yeah, we've Boots
- 0:10Speaker 2: has been around since two thousand and eight. We're a
- 0:14Speaker 2: duo and we've always been a duo. Yeah, since then,
- 0:19Speaker 2: played all over the world.
- 0:21Speaker 3: Alight, So now you're coming to Australia as part of
- 0:24Speaker 3: the playing all over the world.
- 0:26Speaker 2: Yes, we've been to Australia before. It's been a few
- 0:30Speaker 2: years now, and yeah we last supported Behemoth and Wattin
- 0:35Speaker 2: over there, and yeah, we're looking forward to playing with Portal.
- 0:40Speaker 1: They're also friends of ours.
- 0:41Speaker 3: So nice that is actually happening next month. You'll be
- 0:45Speaker 3: here with Portal starting in Sydney on August and fifteenth,
- 0:49Speaker 3: then you hit Melbourne at Hobart, finish up at Necrosonic
- 0:52Speaker 3: Festival in Brisbane on the twenty third. So that's certainly
- 0:55Speaker 3: about a bunth the way he's packed and ready to
- 0:56Speaker 3: go or do you leave that sort of thing till
- 0:58Speaker 3: the last minute?
- 1:00Speaker 2: Yeah, we're ready to go. Of course, we have another
- 1:04Speaker 2: show here in Europe before we hit over and otherwise
- 1:09Speaker 2: got a lot to do surrounding the coming album.
- 1:12Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah, nice nice as you said, it has been
- 1:15Speaker 3: a few years since you've been out here, so what's
- 1:17Speaker 3: changed with the band since last time.
- 1:21Speaker 1: Well, that's a coin mentioned.
- 1:22Speaker 4: We just finished studio session for a new album, but
- 1:27Speaker 4: that one is due for next year, so for now
- 1:30Speaker 4: we're just preparing everything and also starting to play a
- 1:35Speaker 4: few new songs live. So definitely some of them will
- 1:39Speaker 4: appear on this Australian tour as well. Very much looking
- 1:44Speaker 4: forward to plays on fresh material as well.
- 1:48Speaker 3: It's mentioned that our portal our Frenzy also, you're coming
- 1:51Speaker 3: out here to Australia with them. Have you played much
- 1:53Speaker 3: overseas with them?
- 1:56Speaker 2: I think one of once or twice, Yeah, a few
- 1:58Speaker 2: festivals in Europe, I think one of the ka remember, Yeah, yeah,
- 2:03Speaker 2: for sure. And I think we played once one show
- 2:05Speaker 2: in Australia with them, may I'm not too sure.
- 2:08Speaker 1: Were they just hanging around, yeah.
- 2:11Speaker 3: I would just take it around backstage waiting.
- 2:15Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah.
- 2:17Speaker 3: So for the benefit of those who may not have
- 2:18Speaker 3: seen Bottler before, then run us through a typical live
- 2:20Speaker 3: show from you guys.
- 2:23Speaker 2: That's I think we're immersive in the sense that the
- 2:29Speaker 2: music's very.
- 2:33Speaker 1: Powerful in an organic sense. You know, there's a lot of.
- 2:39Speaker 2: Not just aggressive energy, but powerful human, honest energy around
- 2:46Speaker 2: and people seem to seem to connect with that when
- 2:50Speaker 2: we play play live, Yeah, and it's it's energetic.
- 2:54Speaker 1: We put a lot of a lot of our passion
- 2:57Speaker 1: into it. Yeah, I think in a personal way. You're
- 3:03Speaker 1: not putting up theatrics.
- 3:05Speaker 2: It's more like really exactly, there are no masks, there's
- 3:11Speaker 2: no makeup.
- 3:12Speaker 1: It's it's very down to worth but in your face.
- 3:16Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 3:17Speaker 1: Nice. Nice.
- 3:18Speaker 3: And it's actually been described as a form of spiritual
- 3:21Speaker 3: rapture your show, So does that mean that it's a
- 3:24Speaker 3: merged with the crowd, Like is it that to do
- 3:26Speaker 3: with stage props? Like, what's what's actually spiritual rapture?
- 3:32Speaker 1: I don't know. I think the music itself has.
- 3:36Speaker 2: Been written in a way that really makes Fabian and
- 3:40Speaker 2: myself feel a lot when it's it's been being created
- 3:46Speaker 2: and performed, it's like a bit of a conduit for
- 3:50Speaker 2: for what we feel and want to express. So I
- 3:54Speaker 2: think it begins and ends in a very spiritual way,
- 4:00Speaker 2: and it's it's about elevation and enlightenment.
- 4:04Speaker 1: Really the music.
- 4:06Speaker 2: So I think people can tap into that energy if
- 4:09Speaker 2: they're you know, if they're willing.
- 4:13Speaker 3: Yeah, So just say someone's coming to see Portal and
- 4:16Speaker 3: they haven't don't know too much about Ballzers, what three
- 4:19Speaker 3: songs would you recommend they listened to before they covered
- 4:21Speaker 3: the show in order to get to know the band better.
- 4:24Speaker 1: H Well, I mean there's some sort of classics I think.
- 4:29Speaker 4: I mean for most people our EP Oral YEP seems
- 4:34Speaker 4: to kind of be there the starting point, and also
- 4:38Speaker 4: are Herald lp Ye, which.
- 4:43Speaker 1: Is the only full length to date.
- 4:46Speaker 4: I would say it's a good way say the start.
- 4:49Speaker 1: Heah, yeah, those would be the best places to start.
- 4:52Speaker 3: Oh and as we said, the tour finishes in Brincebure
- 4:54Speaker 3: at Necrosonic Festival. She's a massive beat of guise. It's
- 4:58Speaker 3: got thirty bands across three stages. But not a bad
- 5:01Speaker 3: way to finish the straw with a bank.
- 5:03Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, that's quite quite the line up exactly. Yeah.
- 5:09Speaker 3: Look, there's a lot of Australian bands there of course,
- 5:11Speaker 3: like you got a Bravel and Bean Flipper Days and
- 5:13Speaker 3: Frank and Bakalara just name a few. But for you
- 5:16Speaker 3: guys coming into a festival that like, do you do
- 5:17Speaker 3: your research and try and find out a bit about
- 5:20Speaker 3: bands that you're playing with or would you rather come
- 5:21Speaker 3: in on the day and just take it.
- 5:23Speaker 1: All in then yeah, actually we do.
- 5:27Speaker 2: I mean if we're not familiar with the names yet,
- 5:30Speaker 2: which is the.
- 5:31Speaker 1: Case in Brisbane.
- 5:34Speaker 2: I knew about day's end, just very very loosely, and
- 5:40Speaker 2: I checked up more and isn't it. I really am
- 5:42Speaker 2: like it, you know, the sold touch on things, take
- 5:45Speaker 2: on things and good mate of mind. He was really
- 5:48Speaker 2: into them too, And yeah, I'm familiar with Blindfolders, Led
- 5:53Speaker 2: to the Woods, the Kiwis, they've been around Gageous.
- 5:57Speaker 1: Yeah, I had to had to check out. Yeah, check
- 6:03Speaker 1: out a little of the bands there for sure.
- 6:05Speaker 3: Yeah, that's going to be a brutal data because it's
- 6:08Speaker 3: not there's no like softer bands there on the day.
- 6:10Speaker 3: It's all just fall on video your face, kick your
- 6:12Speaker 3: cups like it's going to be a full day.
- 6:17Speaker 1: Definitely.
- 6:17Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 6:17Speaker 1: Cool.
- 6:20Speaker 3: Come back to the start, you both form Bowls are
- 6:22Speaker 3: back in two thousand and eight. So what was a
- 6:25Speaker 3: musical climate like that gave birth to the band and
- 6:27Speaker 3: where did you fit in initially?
- 6:30Speaker 1: Mm hmm.
- 6:32Speaker 2: I think I think the what we were doing at
- 6:35Speaker 2: first was you know, experimentation and the inspirations let's say
- 6:45Speaker 2: right then, were vastly different to what we're actually doing now,
- 6:50Speaker 2: and it just sort of grew wave and from itself
- 6:55Speaker 2: very quickly into something I guess unique sounding, and yeah,
- 7:01Speaker 2: just kept on evolving from there direct inspirations.
- 7:05Speaker 1: I don't know it was.
- 7:06Speaker 2: We were just listening to a lot of different stuff
- 7:08Speaker 2: as we do now. We're probably listening to more heavy
- 7:14Speaker 2: stuff back then than we do nowadays.
- 7:16Speaker 1: I mean we're into all you know, all avenues and music.
- 7:20Speaker 4: Yeah, it's a bit hard to pinpoint certain bands because
- 7:24Speaker 4: I would say it's an amalgamation of all our pretty
- 7:27Speaker 4: broad musical tastes we have. And yeah, it kind of
- 7:32Speaker 4: became its own entity.
- 7:36Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 7:36Speaker 2: I was never the kind of guy to write things with,
- 7:40Speaker 2: you know, direct inspirational references.
- 7:43Speaker 1: I actually dislike that. I try to keep it as.
- 7:49Speaker 2: As honest and pure as possible, you know, stemming from
- 7:53Speaker 2: a place that that which is wholly your own.
- 7:56Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 7:57Speaker 3: Ye actually raise a good point there, because what you
- 7:59Speaker 3: do is fairly you know, like it's not copied off
- 8:01Speaker 3: any other bands.
- 8:02Speaker 1: It's like your own style.
- 8:03Speaker 3: But when you first came in, that would have been
- 8:05Speaker 3: easy to do. But over the years have gone by,
- 8:07Speaker 3: like coming up with newer stuff, that's you the whole
- 8:10Speaker 3: way through, Like Channe over Canny is now, like, does
- 8:13Speaker 3: that become more difficult?
- 8:15Speaker 2: I think it becomes easier, But I mean it's becomes
- 8:20Speaker 2: difficult in the sense that you have to work harder
- 8:24Speaker 2: to you know, not backtrack on yourself.
- 8:28Speaker 3: Yeah, because a lot of bands like they keep drawing
- 8:31Speaker 3: inspiration from other bands out there. But from what I've
- 8:34Speaker 3: heard of you guys, just don't you just keep begging
- 8:36Speaker 3: up from any here and there's only so much it
- 8:39Speaker 3: comes from here until you puce it out.
- 8:41Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 8:42Speaker 2: I also think it's important, I mean, each to their own,
- 8:46Speaker 2: but if you're true to yourself, then just let let
- 8:51Speaker 2: your inspiration take you wherever it does.
- 8:55Speaker 4: You know.
- 8:55Speaker 2: If that means that your style changes vastly over the
- 8:59Speaker 2: course of.
- 9:00Speaker 1: Decade or more than so, be it, you know. I mean,
- 9:03Speaker 1: I'd rather take that path in adheres to some kind
- 9:06Speaker 1: of a code. You know.
- 9:10Speaker 3: You guys have spoken a couple of times about this,
- 9:12Speaker 3: but you've got a new album coming out in twenty
- 9:14Speaker 3: twenty six, So what further can you tell us?
- 9:20Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 9:20Speaker 4: Yes, as I mentioned, we just finished the recording sessions
- 9:24Speaker 4: in Stockholm at a studio Cobra It went pretty well,
- 9:29Speaker 4: and we're now just finishing all the mixing and artworks
- 9:34Speaker 4: and then everything surrounding it as we're all doing that
- 9:37Speaker 4: on our own, so it's quite a big task ahead
- 9:41Speaker 4: of us still, but we're very excited about.
- 9:45Speaker 1: How things start coming together. We're very happy with the material.
- 9:49Speaker 3: Yeah, what is is it what fans would expect from Bolsa?
- 9:52Speaker 3: Are you going to throw a few curve balls in
- 9:54Speaker 3: there for them?
- 9:56Speaker 2: No, I think it's just as we who have tapped
- 10:00Speaker 2: them before. It's definitely a growth. Yeah, it's very solid,
- 10:09Speaker 2: solid songs.
- 10:11Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 10:11Speaker 2: I don't think people, you know, I don't think current
- 10:14Speaker 2: fans would be disappointed whatsoever, and I'd say would probably
- 10:19Speaker 2: get a few new ones.
- 10:20Speaker 1: Yeah, fantastic.
- 10:22Speaker 3: All right, guys, Well, thanks very much for your time.
- 10:24Speaker 3: It's been a pleasure speaking with It will be out
- 10:27Speaker 3: here with Portal in August, so check out all your
- 10:29Speaker 3: socials to see where to find them. I'll be at
- 10:31Speaker 3: the prisonal today guy, so I'll come up and have
- 10:33Speaker 3: a beer.
- 10:35Speaker 1: Cool man. Nice thanks for having us. Chris
