- 1:16Speaker 1: I got Jimmy Reno.
- 1:20Speaker 1: You know I was talking to old J-Mac.
- 1:24Speaker 1: He's going out to Omaha man.
- 1:29Speaker 1: Yes, sir, they put a.
- 1:29Speaker 1: Uh, we did it.
- 1:30Speaker 2: Yeah, and if anyone deserves to go, it's yeah, you can't have him out there without j.
- 1:34Speaker 1: It's the home field advantage.
- 1:35Speaker 1: If you want to take it out there, it's worth it.
- 1:37Speaker 1: And uh, I was gonna say, hey, you can support the cause.
- 1:42Speaker 1: But he already got it paid for.
- 1:43Speaker 1: It's less than 24 hours and I talked to him yesterday but we had a technical difficulty so it didn't.
- 1:53Speaker 1: I didn't want to air it, record it.
- 1:55Speaker 1: It didn't sound good.
- 1:57Speaker 1: Hey, man, you can interview him when he gets back, we'll get back but anyway, he bought a ticket to the championship as well, so he's going to go.
- 2:10Speaker 1: The first two games, come back and then the matchup.
- 2:14Speaker 1: It's about as tough as it gets for anybody in the College World Series, as the number one Tennessee Volunteers are up Friday night night.
- 2:27Speaker 2: yeah, they're good lights, they are good let's get started, man.
- 2:33Speaker 1: Um, let's go right there, man.
- 2:34Speaker 1: College world series back to omaha.
- 2:37Speaker 1: It's been five years and the turnaround is it's not complete, man, he's turned it around.
- 2:46Speaker 1: It's back to where it's best it's ever been, back to Omaha, where it's been many a times.
- 2:53Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean I think what he did with the lineup is pretty much why they're going back.
- 3:01Speaker 2: You know Jamie Arnold's been great.
- 3:03Speaker 2: The bullpen has stepped up at times during the season.
- 3:07Speaker 2: You know they haven't been dominant but they've been semi-consistent I guess.
- 3:11Speaker 2: But it starts and ends with the lineup yeah what he was able to do with the transfer portal.
- 3:17Speaker 2: Um, but yeah, it gets.
- 3:20Speaker 2: It gets really tough now oh yeah, yeah, the matchup.
- 3:23Speaker 1: You're going against a Tennessee team.
- 3:25Speaker 1: What's like for someone who's I only watch Florida State college baseball, really.
- 3:31Speaker 1: I'm not tell me about Tennessee.
- 3:34Speaker 1: I know that you know a little bit about them.
- 3:36Speaker 2: Well, what everybody?
- 3:37Speaker 2: The first thing is the amount of home runs they've hit.
- 3:41Speaker 2: I think 173 on the season, something like that.
- 3:44Speaker 2: Goodness Number one in the country by far.
- 3:47Speaker 2: Florida State's like number nine or ten, right, I think they got 120-something home runs.
- 3:53Speaker 2: I mean we've hit a lot.
- 3:57Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 3:57Speaker 1: You take about 50 more home runs to the line.
- 4:01Speaker 1: I was just thinking that.
- 4:02Speaker 2: Yeah, christian Moore, the leadoff hitter for Tennessee, the infielder, I mean he'll play middle infield somewhere at the next level, probably second base, I mean, you know.
- 4:12Speaker 2: But he 32 home runs, 71 RBI, that's your leadoff spot.
- 4:18Speaker 2: Wow, you know, if there is something they do, swing and miss at a high rate.
- 4:25Speaker 1: That'll be the battle right there, right Against Jamie Arnold.
- 4:28Speaker 1: Will they get enough bombs?
- 4:30Speaker 1: They're going to get strikeouts.
- 4:32Speaker 1: He's going to get strikeouts.
- 4:33Speaker 2: Yeah, and it'll be if they catch him.
- 4:37Speaker 2: You know they square up a pitch.
- 4:39Speaker 2: Are they going to have base runners?
- 4:42Speaker 1: Yeah, that's going to be.
- 4:43Speaker 1: That's the key.
- 4:44Speaker 1: You can't.
- 4:44Speaker 1: You have to make them earn it.
- 4:46Speaker 1: Yeah, you can't walk a guy.
- 4:48Speaker 2: But they hit really well, man, Like it's not just power.
- 4:52Speaker 1: Right.
- 4:52Speaker 2: They hit really well.
- 4:53Speaker 2: They lead the country in slugging.
- 4:55Speaker 1: Wow.
- 4:56Speaker 2: They're really good.
- 4:58Speaker 1: Yeah, all around, and they have a good pitching staff.
- 5:05Speaker 2: What's up with their staff?
- 5:06Speaker 2: Yeah, number three in the country in Team ERA.
- 5:09Speaker 2: One or two guys that you're going to see I think they'll probably go with the sidearm guy Causey, but it's more of the same man Like they're going to give swing and miss.
- 5:19Speaker 2: They're deep, deep, quality arms.
- 5:24Speaker 2: Man, they're really good.
- 5:24Speaker 2: You know they won the sec.
- 5:28Speaker 2: I it's baseball.
- 5:30Speaker 2: You know people will see that they lost to evansville and be like, well, it can't be that great.
- 5:34Speaker 2: But like you're right, man, it is baseball.
- 5:35Speaker 2: Right, it can be had, um, but there isn't a tougher team on paper in season than than than what Florida state's going to face.
- 5:45Speaker 2: But you know it'll, it'll be.
- 5:48Speaker 2: Can Jamie Arnold get swings and misses?
- 5:51Speaker 2: Limit the free passes and then you know can?
- 5:54Speaker 2: can Florida state's offense step up to the challenge?
- 5:58Speaker 1: Cause, this will be the best best pitching that that they've seen.
- 6:01Speaker 1: Right.
- 6:02Speaker 2: Most likely We'll see man Might as well.
- 6:06Speaker 2: Get it going.
- 6:07Speaker 2: The first game of the I don't know it sucks.
- 6:10Speaker 2: I was going for Evansville.
- 6:12Speaker 1: Yeah, but I was hoping they'd pull off a miracle, but hey, whatever You're going to have to beat Tennessee to get to this championship, you might as well it's easier to beat them once.
- 6:22Speaker 2: You'd much rather face them.
- 6:23Speaker 2: Loses brackets.
- 6:24Speaker 2: You have to face them when you have Jamie Arnold in a full bullpen.
- 6:30Speaker 1: Well, you just get the winner's bracket gives you much more time to go through your bullpen.
- 6:37Speaker 2: It's huge.
- 6:37Speaker 2: You know, from this side, if there was a favorite on our bracket it would obviously be Tennessee.
- 6:43Speaker 2: The other bracket's a little bit different obviously be tennessee.
- 6:45Speaker 2: You know the other bracket's a little bit different.
- 6:46Speaker 1: Yeah, and then you have the other side it's all sec but nc state.
- 6:51Speaker 1: And then the side florida state is on, it's all acc except tennessee right and florida state on the other.
- 6:58Speaker 1: The other matchup is unc virginia, so florida state will match up against winner or loser of that game, depending on what they do.
- 7:06Speaker 1: And then you have NC State on the other side.
- 7:10Speaker 1: They were able to beat Georgia, they're going against now Kentucky team.
- 7:13Speaker 2: They're going to match up really well with.
- 7:15Speaker 2: Kentucky is, without you know, just looking at numbers wise.
- 7:20Speaker 2: Kentucky has the weakest offense in this in the World Series, in the College World Series in Omaha, they've kind of relied on it with pitching more so than hitting home runs.
- 7:31Speaker 1: But I think NC State might pull the shocker man.
- 7:35Speaker 1: I really do.
- 7:36Speaker 2: I like NC State there yeah, I like NC State and I'm telling you, man, florida and Texas.
- 7:42Speaker 1: A&M.
- 7:44Speaker 2: Florida and Texas A&M is a game to really keep an eye on yeah, that's the other side.
- 7:49Speaker 1: The damn Gators man.
- 7:51Speaker 1: They made it and they barely got in the tournament.
- 7:53Speaker 1: But well, it was never a talent question man, it was just could their pitching, finally figure it out, and they just were the last game against Clemson man was incredible.
- 8:04Speaker 1: I mean the drama in that game.
- 8:07Speaker 2: Right right.
- 8:09Speaker 1: The plays that Clemson made, and then they you know.
- 8:11Speaker 2: Beating Clemson baseball in that stadium is very hard.
- 8:16Speaker 1: Yeah, and Florida's probably.
- 8:18Speaker 1: I mean, what do they got to lose?
- 8:20Speaker 1: You know they're playing free, I wouldn't want to face them.
- 8:25Speaker 1: No, you know they're playing free, I wouldn't want to face him.
- 8:27Speaker 1: You got a guy hitting 119 mile an hour off the bat Piss rockets Caglione.
- 8:31Speaker 1: Goodness gracious.
- 8:32Speaker 2: You know he's got a chance to take the lead.
- 8:34Speaker 2: I mean he's five home runs back from being ahead of Condon Condon.
- 8:39Speaker 1: Yeah, I can see him doing it out there.
- 8:42Speaker 1: They're going to match up against A&M.
- 8:44Speaker 1: They had a success against A&M this year.
- 8:46Speaker 2: Yeah, they beat them.
- 8:46Speaker 2: They won the series against Texas A&M this year.
- 8:49Speaker 2: It was in Gainesville, I think A&M is down.
- 8:53Speaker 2: Their best player, braden Montgomery, broke his ankle in the Super Regional, so that's a tough hit man.
- 8:59Speaker 2: That's the guy in their lineup.
- 9:03Speaker 2: That was pretty much the guy.
- 9:06Speaker 2: Now they got other dudes that can go deep.
- 9:08Speaker 1: So you're thinking NC State Florida?
- 9:10Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 9:11Speaker 1: And then say you got Florida State, tennessee, you're hoping that FSU can get by Somehow, yeah, and then you have Virginia, north Carolina.
- 9:20Speaker 1: Who do you want to face?
- 9:21Speaker 1: You probably want to face Virginia.
- 9:24Speaker 2: If man, I don't know You've already played them, so they've already seen you once.
- 9:29Speaker 1: Everybody's good out here now, though.
- 9:31Speaker 1: Yeah, like the one team that's not ranked.
- 9:34Speaker 1: What is it Florida?
- 9:36Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 9:37Speaker 1: And they might be the most damn talented team.
- 9:40Speaker 2: They were preseason number two.
- 9:41Speaker 1: Yeah, I was going to say they might be the most talented of all the teams.
- 9:44Speaker 2: They've got at least one first rounder.
- 9:46Speaker 1: This is going to be.
- 9:47Speaker 1: You're not going against.
- 9:50Speaker 1: You're going against a more talented roster maybe than yours, or equal in every game.
- 9:56Speaker 2: So it's going to be about execution.
- 9:57Speaker 2: If you face North Carolina in game two, the scary thing is you know they have a lot of power from the right side.
- 10:02Speaker 1: Right.
- 10:02Speaker 2: If you're throwing Dorsey, which you will be.
- 10:05Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, there's no doubt about it, they're going to go Arnold Dorsey or vice versa.
- 10:11Speaker 1: I mean they're going to go Arnold Friday night.
- 10:14Speaker 2: Yeah, you got to go best on best.
- 10:16Speaker 2: I just really, really love to get seven good ones out of them.
- 10:24Speaker 1: But what a turnaround.
- 10:25Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I mean, dude, you weren't even in the postseason last year.
- 10:28Speaker 2: You're in Omaha First team to qualify for Omaha.
- 10:35Speaker 2: Got it done, man.
- 10:36Speaker 2: That game, too, was a great one.
- 10:40Speaker 1: Yep, well, you know, like, what is it?
- 10:43Speaker 1: Let's see, it was a great one.
- 10:44Speaker 1: They had the guy, the what is it?
- 10:45Speaker 1: Let's see, it was a great one.
- 10:46Speaker 1: They had the guy, the shoulder guy from UConn that almost won it himself.
- 10:49Speaker 1: Jeez, that guy.
- 10:50Speaker 1: They had a bunch of.
- 10:53Speaker 1: D3 guys that were baseball players.
- 10:56Speaker 2: Uconn deserves a lot of respect for their squad.
- 10:59Speaker 2: They brought down man Like.
- 11:00Speaker 2: Those are two of the hottest days I can remember.
- 11:04Speaker 1: And didn't get beat like they did in the first game, right they?
- 11:07Speaker 2: come back in the second game.
- 11:09Speaker 2: Shoulders McGee was just.
- 11:12Speaker 1: They battled.
- 11:14Speaker 2: Yeah, that was a hell of a game.
- 11:15Speaker 2: Tibbs, that was an all-timer from James Tibbs, it was Three two-run homers for his last game at the Dick.
- 11:24Speaker 1: That was awesome.
- 11:25Speaker 1: That last one would have been off the circus.
- 11:27Speaker 1: Tent man, yeah, I mean you think about it, dude, he's.
- 11:30Speaker 2: He's a guy that you put up there with.
- 11:31Speaker 2: You know, with posy, with drew, I mean, he didn't make the golden spikes finalist there's something way more important that's still up in the running, and that's something that could be done and I think it starts when you think about this team.
- 11:46Speaker 1: You think about the guys that were on this team last year who could have went to greener pastures or could have been drafted or could have went transferred and they were like you know.
- 12:01Speaker 1: I believe in Link.
- 12:02Speaker 1: I'm going to hang in there and totally turn it around to get a national seed, to get a host of Super Regional and to come through and to make it all the way back to Omaha.
- 12:13Speaker 2: Right, and there's two other guys in the lineup Ferrer and Cam Smith.
- 12:18Speaker 1: They also deserve a ton of credit.
- 12:20Speaker 1: Right.
- 12:21Speaker 1: Like Cam Smith, especially in terms of the improvement They've got better, yeah of credit.
- 12:27Speaker 2: Right, they like cam smith, especially in terms of the improvement.
- 12:29Speaker 2: Yeah, um, jaime's power numbers have just skyrocketed here as of as of late, and it I mean dude.
- 12:32Speaker 2: Without those improvements as well, I don't think florida state's going back to omaha.
- 12:36Speaker 2: It wasn't just tibbs, you know, having a monster season, it was all three guys that stuck out from last year, and now they got some juice in the lineup.
- 12:49Speaker 1: They got some juice in the lineup and they're going to Omaha.
- 12:51Speaker 1: That starts Friday night.
- 12:53Speaker 1: They got the second game of the day, the primetime matchup.
- 12:59Speaker 2: Right, you'll see UNC and Virginia before.
- 13:02Speaker 1: That'll be the first game.
- 13:03Speaker 1: Well, what's going on?
- 13:07Speaker 1: Anything Going on In college Football.
- 13:11Speaker 2: I mean Nothing.
- 13:13Speaker 1: Nothing.
- 13:14Speaker 1: It's the off season.
- 13:14Speaker 2: Conferences, selling their, their naming rights To insurance companies and whatnot.
- 13:20Speaker 2: Oh really, yeah, I guess the Big 12, that is.
- 13:24Speaker 2: Considering a 30 to 50 million annual deal.
- 13:29Speaker 1: You know the big all state with all state big all state conference.
- 13:32Speaker 2: Yeah, it's the corporate takeover.
- 13:34Speaker 2: College football.
- 13:36Speaker 1: It was bound to happen.
- 13:37Speaker 1: Once you started, you know, you opened up Pandora's box.
- 13:40Speaker 2: Right and, and you know when, when, uh what?
- 13:42Speaker 1: is that.
- 13:50Speaker 2: So that box right and and you know when, when, uh what is that?
- 13:51Speaker 1: so that's from the all-state.
- 13:52Speaker 1: Is it going to be the big 12?
- 13:53Speaker 1: All-state big 12?
- 13:53Speaker 2: no, there won't be it'll be like the big all-state or the all-state 12, or they want naming rights.
- 13:57Speaker 2: They want naming rights.
- 13:58Speaker 2: Yeah, it's, and that's, you know, the article about drew weatherford going around to uh, I don't even know if it was an article tweet.
- 14:03Speaker 2: You talked about it Going around to a bunch of different.
- 14:06Speaker 2: You know, power Five, power Conference, athletic departments, and then yeah pitching that idea of of private equity and investment you know getting.
- 14:18Speaker 2: I just it's coming.
- 14:22Speaker 2: Yeah, see, whatever man, the amateurism is long gone out of it.
- 14:28Speaker 2: Yeah, but you know this kind of stuff is where you start to just lose interest.
- 14:34Speaker 2: It gets closer and closer to WWE Because these big you know, allstate has a vested interest in the results.
- 14:40Speaker 1: Now, right, Well, yeah, it's You're.
- 14:44Speaker 1: So I mean that's dead on.
- 14:46Speaker 1: I mean, if we, you just love it, you know, love the sport, but, man, you're right when it comes down to integrity of it you might as well just pick a high school to root for it, cause that's about all you're going to have to worry about.
- 14:59Speaker 2: Well, yeah, now you're going to, now you're going to have to worry about NIL there too.
- 15:03Speaker 1: Well, I don't think you have to worry.
- 15:05Speaker 1: I mean I don't like the fed the naming rights of a conference.
- 15:17Speaker 1: I mean I mean, geez, yeah, um, that's gonna have, you know, the big all-state or we're gonna the geico?
- 15:20Speaker 2: yeah, something like that man.
- 15:21Speaker 2: You know, I guess it's it's.
- 15:22Speaker 2: They're trying to up their cloud or something to compete with the money that the sec well, yeah, and that's, and that's understandable and mean that's what everybody's doing something.
- 15:33Speaker 2: Instead of the TV network, let's go talk to some kind of insurance company.
- 15:37Speaker 1: I want to win, but we can pay players and we're getting money from here.
- 15:41Speaker 1: Well, we got to get a new conference.
- 15:44Speaker 1: Well, we're in this conference.
- 15:46Speaker 2: We can't get, so we got to get, let's sell the naming rights to a rich ass insurance company.
- 15:50Speaker 2: That'll just front us $50 million every year.
- 15:53Speaker 1: Don't think that once that happens, the naming rights to the other two are going to.
- 15:57Speaker 2: Well, you can't.
- 15:58Speaker 2: The thing is, it's not going to come without letting Allstate have some kind of involvement in the runnings of the conference.
- 16:06Speaker 2: That's what I mean when I say they have an interest in it.
- 16:09Speaker 2: Now, eventually, I'm like you know what we really don't like having our name on a conference that never has a national champion.
- 16:17Speaker 2: So who's the team in your conference that we need to get behind and shit like that man?
- 16:23Speaker 2: Yep, yep, yep, yep, yep, yep, yep.
- 16:27Speaker 1: Yep.
- 16:29Speaker 2: Pretty soon.
- 16:30Speaker 2: You got the Undert know in the script winning the, winning the belt.
- 16:34Speaker 2: Bret hart ain't gonna comply I don't even know if that ever happened yeah, well, it's over man, it's over yeah well, that's the college football update.
- 16:46Speaker 2: It's over, all right, the fun of it is gone.
- 16:50Speaker 2: I mean, it's still's still going to be football, you know, but if you have like a favorite team or things like that, you're probably just going to have to ease off the brakes, drive ahead into them rivers.
- 17:04Speaker 1: All right, we had to go.
- 17:07Speaker 1: Well, we gotta get on out of here.
- 17:12Speaker 1: Yep, all right, serious, but you know, hey, we'll be looking forward to the game starting tomorrow night friday night, baby, seven o'clock.
- 17:22Speaker 1: Seven o'clock been a while yeah where are we watching?
- 17:29Speaker 2: that, by the way way Right out back.
- 17:32Speaker 1: Yeah, right, studio out back.
- 17:33Speaker 2: There we go.
- 17:35Speaker 1: You know where you can let it out, walk around if you need to be.
- 17:41Speaker 1: I mean, it's going to be.
- 17:44Speaker 1: I need to get out to Omaha one of these years.
- 17:46Speaker 2: Yeah it would be nice to maybe go out there.
- 17:51Speaker 1: NBA Finals.
- 17:51Speaker 1: You know they're all but over 3-0.
- 17:54Speaker 1: No one's ever come back from 3-0.
- 17:56Speaker 1: Luka's crying at the officials every chance he gets.
- 18:00Speaker 2: He just looks like he knew last night at the little PC.
- 18:06Speaker 1: It's just time I was wrong.
- 18:08Speaker 1: It's a matchup game.
- 18:10Speaker 1: Denver probably would have gave the Celtics more of a fight Maybe.
- 18:15Speaker 2: In fact I know they would.
- 18:17Speaker 1: But it was a matchup where the Celtics Were just they're pulling around with the Mavericks.
- 18:23Speaker 1: It's Put it to bed, it's over, it's over.
- 18:27Speaker 1: Luka's got to get better defensively.
- 18:31Speaker 1: He's got to get better.
- 18:32Speaker 1: He's an all time talent mean, he's an all time talent, but he's still only 25.
- 18:37Speaker 1: He's been like at this level for a decade, like professional or in just highly Clouded too, so he expects a lot Put up on a pedestal.
- 18:52Speaker 2: He's going to be remembered.
- 18:53Speaker 1: He's going to be remembered getting swept in the finals and bitching at the refs Filing out Until he gets back and maybe he wins it.
- 19:03Speaker 1: That's his legacy.
- 19:04Speaker 1: Now your legacy gets written in June in the NBA.
- 19:10Speaker 1: Remember when LeBron had JJ Barrera?
- 19:14Speaker 1: He wouldn't even post him up.
- 19:15Speaker 1: You know he had to live with that until the next year where he won it.
- 19:19Speaker 1: And he still lives with it in a way.
- 19:23Speaker 1: I mean we're still talking about it, yeah, so hopefully he can get one and we'll have that going on in the weekend.
- 19:31Speaker 1: We'll watch those games and we'll react to them and we'll talk to you next time right here on the North Florida Sports Network.
- 19:41Speaker 1: See you, we'll be right back.
