- 0:14Speaker 1: root causes of our health challenges, not just masking the symptoms.
- 0:17Speaker 1: Here we dive deep into how holistic approaches such as
- 0:20Speaker 1: advanced chiropractic care, personalized nutrition, and natural healing practices can
- 0:25Speaker 1: transform your life. Now Here is doctor Troy.
- 0:35Speaker 2: Hello, Ande, Welcome, I'm doctor Troy. One of my clients
- 0:38Speaker 2: the other day told me about their pregnant wife who
- 0:43Speaker 2: had these weird cravings for Sauer Kraut and drinking half
- 0:48Speaker 2: and half, and I thought, ah, yes, pickles and ice cream.
- 0:53Speaker 2: And what's funny is we hear these old movies or
- 0:57Speaker 2: people that you know, they don't know their They're like,
- 1:00Speaker 2: I have no idea why I'm craving pickles on ice cream.
- 1:03Speaker 2: And the physiologic reason for that is, as a woman
- 1:09Speaker 2: becomes pregnant, there are lots of hormones running in her
- 1:12Speaker 2: body as this little seed starts to grow in her womb.
- 1:18Speaker 2: And so those extra hormones what they do is they
- 1:21Speaker 2: put a burden upon the liver, but also on the
- 1:25Speaker 2: digestive track. And so as digestion is pushed upon a
- 1:31Speaker 2: bit and so is the liver, things tend to break
- 1:35Speaker 2: so to speak, that are not working so well. And
- 1:38Speaker 2: of course what the fix is for the gut is acidification.
- 1:42Speaker 2: And pickles are vinegar, So any kind of vinegar or
- 1:46Speaker 2: sour kraut which is you know, forming its own lactic
- 1:49Speaker 2: acid and vinegar type substances, kimchi, anything that would be
- 1:54Speaker 2: even like a seltzer water that would be carbonic acid
- 1:57Speaker 2: and phosphoric acid. Those are things that would be very
- 2:00Speaker 2: settling to a gut that's not very happy. Why do
- 2:03Speaker 2: many people out there simply drink pop all the time
- 2:07Speaker 2: because they crave it. Their digestive system is not so good.
- 2:11Speaker 2: But it is even more taxed when one is pregnant,
- 2:14Speaker 2: now with another supposed mouth to feed, but also a
- 2:19Speaker 2: body that needs to detoxify as that infant grows, and
- 2:23Speaker 2: so as the infant becomes bigger and bigger, they're demand
- 2:26Speaker 2: upon the system grows too, and so when their bit,
- 2:30Speaker 2: the baby is trying to get products out of it
- 2:33Speaker 2: because of its high metabolic activity in creating new tissue.
- 2:39Speaker 2: Those oh, chemicals, particulates, whatever you want to call them,
- 2:44Speaker 2: would then fill the woman's blood even more because not
- 2:47Speaker 2: only is she repairing, but so is the baby, and
- 2:50Speaker 2: so the blood becomes thicker. The liver has to do
- 2:53Speaker 2: more work in order to detox the blood and get
- 2:56Speaker 2: those products out and send them to the gut. And
- 2:59Speaker 2: so pickles and ice cream, that fat from the cream
- 3:03Speaker 2: is going to help the liver because it needs that
- 3:06Speaker 2: fat to flow bile even more. So what would be
- 3:11Speaker 2: the most ideal pickled something rather for a pregnant woman,
- 3:16Speaker 2: It would be pickled beats, especially if you could pickle
- 3:20Speaker 2: them yourself and retain most of the nutrient value of
- 3:24Speaker 2: those beats. The beatin that's in those beats would be
- 3:27Speaker 2: very helpful to flowing bile even better. So let's say
- 3:31Speaker 2: you're out there and you're thinking about, Hey, you know,
- 3:33Speaker 2: I'm thinking about becoming pregnant. I'd like to do this
- 3:36Speaker 2: a little bit perhaps better, and not maybe have so
- 3:39Speaker 2: much mourning sickness, which is sluggish liver. So we would
- 3:43Speaker 2: right now start having you get beats in your diet.
- 3:47Speaker 2: And some people are like, uh no, thank you. They
- 3:49Speaker 2: taste like dirt, and I would have to agree. With you,
- 3:52Speaker 2: and so that's why I love it in a pill.
- 3:55Speaker 2: And we have a wonderful product that is beats and
- 3:58Speaker 2: beet greens that I will get to folks and even
- 4:01Speaker 2: with women. I say, hey, we're going to do just
- 4:03Speaker 2: a little bit in the evening when you're pregnant, because
- 4:07Speaker 2: trying to do it in the morning you may not
- 4:09Speaker 2: feel so good and we don't want you throwing up
- 4:11Speaker 2: any easier than you already do. So doing a little
- 4:14Speaker 2: bit of cream, doing a little bit of beats, doing
- 4:17Speaker 2: a little liver work before you get pregnant may save
- 4:21Speaker 2: you a lot of morning sickness and weird cravings. So
- 4:25Speaker 2: a little note on pickles and ice cream for you.
- 4:27Speaker 2: I hope that was helpful and maybe gave you some
- 4:30Speaker 2: insights on how this whole system, our beautiful body works
- 4:33Speaker 2: and why these cravings are what they are. Until next time,
- 4:37Speaker 2: I'm doctor Troy, and remember there is way more right
- 4:40Speaker 2: with you than there is wrong with you.
