- 0:00Happy Saturday morning everybody.
- 0:04We have a lot to talk about today.
- 0:06There is a lot going on. I went to Cedar Rapids, IA for
- 0:11Landon Castle and his father Rodger Castle.
- 0:16They run the Hawkeye Downs Speedway up there in Cedar
- 0:20Rapids, IA. I want to let you know that I
- 0:23had a wonderful time up there. I run second.
- 0:27I was pleasantly surprised. This is an asphalt track in the
- 0:31middle of dirt racing country and there was like 15 cars in my
- 0:36class. I I won my heat race.
- 0:38I started 6, won my heat race, started 6 in the feature and
- 0:43another hot rod. A 14 year old kid lined up right
- 0:46next to me and his lane cleared. He got to the lead.
- 0:52Took me two laps to get to 2nd and I could not run him down.
- 0:57Went caution free. I run second and then I I went
- 1:01to Victory Lane with him. I parked my car out of the
- 1:04picture. Gave him a big hug in front of a
- 1:08great crowd. Told him how good he was.
- 1:11He was shy. I said we got to get you talking
- 1:14you you're going to go NASCAR. So it was wonderful.
- 1:19They were very excited to outrun Kenny Wallace.
- 1:24It was very heartfelt. So thank you once again to
- 1:28Rodger Castle. And, yeah, our NASCAR Landon,
- 1:33Castle, Landon, I'm so proud of him.
- 1:35He's a man. But he went back home and his
- 1:39father, Rodger Castle, is very, very successful, has like 14
- 1:45businesses. And Landon is now, he'll laugh
- 1:50when he sees us. Landon's going to start printing
- 1:53money pretty soon because he's that smart and he's going to.
- 1:57He went back home, Landon Castle, went back home to Cedar
- 2:02Rapids, IA And so. Yeah.
- 2:04So congratulations, Landon. And that sure was good talking
- 2:08to you this morning. And.
- 2:10Yeah. All right, So Cedar Rapids, IA,
- 2:14Hawkeye down Speedway, beautiful fairground facility, nice
- 2:18legendary grandstand with the top on it.
- 2:21And the fans were wonderful and we pulled them out.
- 2:25We pulled all the fans out of their house.
- 2:27I said get out of your house and come see me.
- 2:30I think Kenny Schrader's going to be going up there to Hawkeye
- 2:32Downs pretty soon, OK? Last night we had some
- 2:38controversy. We had Bob Gardner, a local
- 2:43racer up there around Peoria. He's a Peoria local, but he
- 2:47races around the Illinois are Bob Gardner was at Farmer City
- 2:54for a Mars event. Actually, I'm racing tonight
- 2:59here at Pevely, Missouri with Mars.
- 3:00So Mars ran last night at Farmer City and they're coming to
- 3:05Pevely tonight. We're running Quincy on Sunday.
- 3:09Bob Gardner should never race again this year.
- 3:14What he did was one of the most ugliest things I've ever seen in
- 3:17racing in my life. This Bob Gardner was in a tough
- 3:23heat race. He was leading and Darren Klein,
- 3:27one of our locals, throw him, threw him a mean slider.
- 3:31One of those sliders were clear, but not basically a Bobby Pierce
- 3:36slider, a dirty slider where you're forcing the guy you're
- 3:42going to eat my quarter panel in your left front tire.
- 3:46This is dirt racing and it happens, happens to me all the
- 3:49time. You see it coming now, the open
- 3:52wheel Midget guys, they stick it right in the center of your,
- 3:55your door. Basically the open wheel
- 3:58midgets, they don't have a door, but the open wheel midgets still
- 4:01stick there. Right rear tire, right in your
- 4:04seat area, right where the header is.
- 4:07So Darren Klein fed him a man. He was just almost clear, but he
- 4:13wasn't. So the right rear of Darren
- 4:16Klein's car kind of got right there at the nose and then
- 4:20Gardner kind of gassed it up and they they both, Gardner spun to
- 4:25the infield and, and it's still green flag.
- 4:30This guy turns around on the racetrack while they're racing
- 4:36and he's so mad that he's going to smash into the field and they
- 4:40immediately caution, caution. So then he goes, this Bob
- 4:45Gardner, he takes his car, goes running through the infield with
- 4:49his race car and kind of goes up to the 10 car.
- 4:55And you know, if you've been running dirt long enough, you
- 4:57know, all the little idiosyncrasies and took his car
- 5:02real slow and took his car and rammed it into the door of
- 5:06Darren Kleining and just tipped the kids car over.
- 5:11And then of course, you can hear, you know, the director is
- 5:15going get off the track. You're done for the night,
- 5:17you're done for the night. And I'm like done for the night.
- 5:20You're done for the year, buddy. You know it.
- 5:25It was bad enough him knowing how to flip another man's car
- 5:29over, but was what was insane is while the heat race was still
- 5:35green, this Bob Gardner turned his car around and he's going to
- 5:40take his car and run into them. Landon Castle.
- 5:43Hey, forgot to ask you Schrader based in Saint Louis.
- 5:46I'll call Landon back. So that was ugly.
- 5:50I gave my opinion just now. I don't care.
- 5:54Slider or not, sliders are part of dirt racing.
- 5:57Some people get pissed and some people go, hey, it's part of the
- 6:00sport. When somebody throws me a dirty
- 6:02slider, it's fine with me. I just let off the gas, try to
- 6:07go underneath them, you know, and and you got to protect
- 6:11against those sliders. You got to slide yourself
- 6:13sometimes. So Bob, I know you're a good
- 6:17guy, but you lost your mind. You lost your ever mind.
- 6:22You're crazy, man, crazy. And I'm sure I like you, Bob.
- 6:28I'm sure I like you. I saw you win your heat race at
- 6:31Peoria for the summer nationals and you were wonderful.
- 6:35But you did say these boys are in my house now.
- 6:37I'm going to kick their ass. I remember you saying that.
- 6:40I'm like, damn, of course you didn't.
- 6:44You did not. But man, I tell you what, I'm
- 6:47not mad at you, Bob. I'm just in awe.
- 6:49I'm in shock. I'm like, holy that you lost
- 6:55all. You lost all brain.
- 6:57Your brain was gone. So I hope you find peace in your
- 7:01life. When you take a car and go to
- 7:04smash and do the whole field coming around that's there,
- 7:08there's something more wrong than just that heat race.
- 7:11So I'm very disappointed in you, very disappointed in you.
- 7:16Next one, this is a fun one. Kyle Larson and David Gravel
- 7:23fighting it out for second spot last night at Eldora for the
- 7:27World of Outlaw. OK, there's more to this, and
- 7:33I'm going to paint the picture for you.
- 7:35OK. Rico Abrew, he's gone.
- 7:37Now, let me say this. You're probably wondering how
- 7:40the hell do you know all this? Herman, I was racing last night.
- 7:44The phone's a wonderful thing. I scrolled it all.
- 7:48I scrolled it all and I saw it all.
- 7:50And people are going. Herman, comment on this coffee
- 7:52with Kenny. It was a World of Outlaw race
- 7:56Friday night at Eldora. Well, on Thursday night it was a
- 8:00high limit race. It's pretty cool for one
- 8:05racetrack to house 2 divisions, 2 competing divisions.
- 8:14World of Outlaw been around for 100 years.
- 8:17It's the World of Outlaws, often imitated, never duplicated.
- 8:23The World of Outlaws is a wonderful, wonderful series.
- 8:26And now Brad Sweet got his brother-in-law.
- 8:30Follow the bouncing ball here. Now Brad Sweet got his
- 8:35brother-in-law, Kyle Larson and the family, the wives are all
- 8:38involved. If you remember last year, Brad
- 8:41Sweet and Kyle Larson and family, they had me out in
- 8:45Chico. Yes, I, I flew out there and I
- 8:50had a wonderful time at night Corey day one.
- 8:53But we did a, we did a Kenny conversation with all the
- 8:56drivers out there in Chico. So I know what's up.
- 9:00I'm not an outlaw guy, I'm not a high limit guy, but I know
- 9:02what's up and these are my friends and we talk.
- 9:06OK. So once again, Eldora does this
- 9:10and then all of a sudden, you know, on Thursday night, Kyle
- 9:16Larson just walks the dog and wins $100,000 on Thursday night.
- 9:21OK, now the World of Outlaws comes rolling into town on
- 9:25Friday night. Rico Abro, a high limit driver,
- 9:29walks the dog, wins the race. The fight for second was a fight
- 9:34for superiority. Kyle Larson wanted the top two
- 9:38to be swept by high limit guys. Now Kyle might hear about this.
- 9:44That was my impression. Kyle Larson threw a dirty slider
- 9:49coming to the checkered flag. Dirty slider means my right
- 9:53ear's coming. Boy, it's up to you.
- 9:56My writers coming, David Gravel, my writers coming.
- 10:00Now what are you going to do? So obviously Kyle throws The
- 10:05Dirty slider, wins the match and wins.
- 10:07As the great Dick Trickle said, Kyle Larson wins 2nd place.
- 10:13So now that means the top two in the World of Outlaw race are
- 10:17taken by the high limit drivers. So Gravel gets pissed after the
- 10:23checkered flag and Russ Kyle Larson up on the back straight
- 10:26away and they both end up stopped arguing And then I was
- 10:32really proud of Kyle Larson. Kyle puts on X on social media.
- 10:37It's not all about Facebook. Everybody, all you face, y'all
- 10:41are country. I'm over here on Facebook.
- 10:43My mom and dad are over here. X is where all arguing goes on.
- 10:48And I know you don't know how to work none of that.
- 10:50You don't even know what that's about.
- 10:53It's funny, when I talk to people about other social media,
- 10:56they get so stupid. Well, I don't know how to work
- 10:58that. I'm like the same way you work
- 11:01Facebook. It's called an app.
- 11:02You hit the button and shit, thumbs up.
- 11:05So over there on X is where all the arguing goes on.
- 11:09X is a show. It is very entertaining, but X
- 11:14is where you, you post a lot. You post every second, every
- 11:17minute, like hundreds of posts a day.
- 11:19Like one person can post 100 times a day.
- 11:22It's fine. Now, if you post more than five
- 11:25times a day on Facebook, that means you're a freak.
- 11:29Oh my God, he's posting so much. It's not like that on X.
- 11:33So Kyle Larson, he gets on X and he goes and there's a picture of
- 11:39him and David Gravel arguing after the race in their cars all
- 11:44the back straightaway at Eldora. And Kyle was brilliant.
- 11:48He goes, here we are working out David Gravel's contract to come
- 11:54high limit racing next year. And then and then Kyle Larson
- 11:58goes for the dagger. He goes, he's going to come high
- 12:01limit racing and now he's going to know where the real
- 12:04competition is. He's not used to that.
- 12:08I went, oh, this is good. So the moral of the story was
- 12:16Rico Ebru, a High Limit driver, Kyle Larson, a High Limit
- 12:19driver, filled up the two spots at the World of Outlaws.
- 12:23And yeah, me and David Gravel talking about what's going to be
- 12:26like the race in High Limit, where the real competition is.
- 12:30Here's my take away from this. Competition is healthy and it's
- 12:35good. That's what we needed.
- 12:38You know, it used to be ASA up north and All Pro down South.
- 12:42And then we meet at Nashville. It was called North against the
- 12:47South. Rusty would have an American
- 12:50flag and the guys down South, they'd have the rebel flag.
- 12:53And buddy, it was great. Nobody took it real serious, but
- 12:56it was it was fun. It was the North against the
- 12:59South. So I can, I can see the World of
- 13:01Outlaws and high limit. If, if Brian Carter, the owner
- 13:06of the World of Outlaws, and Brad Sweet, the owner of a High
- 13:10Limit, if they were smart, they'd get together and they'd
- 13:12do something like that, which they're kind of doing it now,
- 13:16but they're not advertising it. So yeah, I thought it was great.
- 13:22I know we're 14 minutes, but last but not least, I'll speed
- 13:28this one up. It is of my opinion.
- 13:31I want you to all to respond right here.
- 13:34Although I think racing is awesome.
- 13:36It's exciting. I took a little poll yesterday.
- 13:41It was a good one. Got thousands of people.
- 13:43I said is racing lesser? I'm going to try again.
- 13:49Is racing not as famous as it used to be OK all auto racing?
- 13:57Is all auto racing in America lesser than it used to be in the
- 14:0180s? Is all auto racing in America
- 14:05not as famous as it used to be in the 80s?
- 14:09About 60, 6465% of the people said it's not as famous as it
- 14:16used to be and here's why. A lot of these local tracks back
- 14:20in the day, Wisconsin, it used to be rocking the whole I
- 14:24listen, listen, calm down Wisconsin people.
- 14:28I love you and you know you did you know I love you.
- 14:32All I said about four months ago was Wisconsin is has lost its
- 14:39luster and I hurt your feelings, but I never all I said has has
- 14:43Wisconsin, you know, basically start coming down and and
- 14:49everybody's told me, oh, you know, yes, it has.
- 14:53So Wisconsin is is surviving. Wisconsin is surviving, but it
- 14:59is not like the glory days. And we all know that.
- 15:02Don't even argue with me, all right, because you're wrong,
- 15:05because I know I've raced up there, I've raced the triple,
- 15:10you know whatever with trickle. I've raced all those tracks.
- 15:15All of racing, all of racing is not as famous as it used to be
- 15:20in the in the 80s, we used to add 2500 people every Saturday
- 15:26night here at pevely. Now I want to put the disclaimer
- 15:29in there. You going to have your what?
- 15:32This track here, You know the you know the Widowmaker at
- 15:35Vermont. Oh, we're still packing them in.
- 15:37Calm the down. OK, OK, that's good.
- 15:41Got a handful of tracks. I'm still we're still packing
- 15:43them in. Packing them in.
- 15:45You ain't packing them in like you used to.
- 15:47So racing's lesser and that's why everything's lesser.
- 15:51But we're still racing. We're still surviving so respond
- 15:55here with your bullshit answer how you will make me think
- 15:58racing my heart race over here in Pennsylvania we still packing
- 16:02them in and we done by 9:30. You're lying.
- 16:07Crowds ain't nothing like they used to be.
- 16:09Some tracks yes, but for the most part 95% of the tracks are
- 16:14lesser and not as famous. It's just the way it is.
- 16:18And the reason is kids don't work on cars anymore.
- 16:21Kids don't work on cars anymore. That's the number one issue.
- 16:26You, you take a young kid and go, hey, you want to work on
- 16:28your car? They're like, I don't even like
- 16:29cars. I don't drive them.
- 16:34We had a good time there. I enjoyed blowing out my ass on
- 16:37that subject. All right, everybody, I'll see
- 16:40you at Peebly Missouri tonight, Federated Auto Parts Raceway.
- 16:44I'm going to be down there early at 3:30 for the veterans, all
- 16:47you veterans. I'm not half the man you are.
- 16:51Veterans get in free tonight for the big Mars race here in
- 16:56Peabody, Missouri. See tonight Federated Auto Parts
- 17:00Raceway Park respond right here to everything.
