- 0:06Welcome inside the Treehouse Football Podcast, episode number ten. We have reached double
- 0:12digits football podcast. They haven't stopped us yet, much like the Cobbos defense.
- 0:21Maybe maybe I should rephrase that to make more sense. They haven't stopped
- 0:24us yet, much like the Eagles push push. But here we are Treehouse
- 0:33Football Podcast number ten. Let's just let's just jump right into the misery.
- 0:38Yeah, And the misery is, of course, that I didn't I didn't
- 0:44have the opportunity to have an anxiety freak out about being one person inside the
- 0:51throngs of Rangers fans in Arlington. What was it? I think Arlington Fire
- 0:54Department estimated five hundred to seven hundred thousand people along that for aid route in
- 1:00that area. My god, Oh, some of the pictures I don't like.
- 1:04There was one picture of a building and it had to have been a
- 1:08i'm gonna guess like a six story parking garage, and it was full of
- 1:12people, like every floor. And just see what happens when you meet parking
- 1:19free. That's what I'm saying. I have reached the age and where I
- 1:25live now currently that if I see a sign that says free parking, I
- 1:27am fully erect I'm I'm I'm glad you said that because I'm on. Yeah.
- 1:36That's my first question when somebody invites me anywhere. My first question is
- 1:41not who's coming, not you know, do I need to bring anything?
- 1:46My first question what's parking look like? And I will do this by My
- 1:51buddy likes to watch the Cowboys game over at Sidecar Social, and that place
- 1:56is a disaster when it comes to parking because there's an there's a movie theater,
- 2:00and then there's all the shops, and there's all the bars and all
- 2:02that stuff. I will give it two laps, I tell I tell him
- 2:07every time. I was like, i will go twice. This is my
- 2:12my effort. I'll driver on that park and then I'm going home. And
- 2:19he doesn't believe. Every single time, he doesn't believe me. He's like,
- 2:23there's parking space. I'm like, I'm on my second lap. Unless
- 2:27you're standing in that parking space. I don't believe. I've made him do
- 2:30that before. I'm like, go stand in it and then I'll come.
- 2:34But I will go across the street to the Boozy Bird, the Chicken Wing
- 2:38place, because it's a it's there's a dollar tree, it's plenty of park
- 2:44What if what if the place has valet? Will you val a? Absolutely
- 2:46not? Are you out of your mind? Is that is that level of
- 2:53frugal hereditary in the in your family? I'll spend you know me, I
- 2:58spend money. I'm not but are you You won't? You're just picky about
- 3:01it. You mean to you gonna charge me to park my own car?
- 3:07What if it's free for free valet, complimentary valet that Lava canteina does that,
- 3:10and I will do that, and I will tip very well. I'm
- 3:13like, you know what, here's what you what I would pay in l
- 3:15A to valet the car. I'll give you that cash for for doing it
- 3:21for free. But if there's no parking, I'm going home. It's funny
- 3:24because and I asked that because valet is one of those funny things some people
- 3:30just on principle hate being. If they feel like they're forced to valet,
- 3:37they won't do it. Yeah, correct, Yes, I mean like I'm
- 3:42I'm yeah, I mean this is it's it's the valet is a young thing.
- 3:46It's for young kids now because they're lazy. I don't mind the walk
- 3:50like i've I've I've debated coming to your bar, but I know where it's
- 3:53at, and I'm like, I, no, I don't know how the
- 3:55parking situation is. Oh, you know how the parking situation is in Uptown.
- 4:00It's terrible. I'm not and that's why I don't go. I've debated.
- 4:04I'm like, you know what, I should stop by the Standard Port
- 4:06and say what's up to train? And I'm like, uh, park and
- 4:11if you ever do, I now I now know a secret place, so
- 4:14I can tell you where the park. Oh both, ray, you could
- 4:17make some serious money off that secret place. Yeah, because like the last
- 4:23time Tara and I came to see you at Standard Poor for brunch, there's
- 4:27that parking lot behind the building, and and I think it costs like twenty
- 4:31twenty five dollars to park there. Twenty five dollars to park there and out
- 4:35of it. Well, it's not so. The lot was purchased by a
- 4:41tow company. Okay, of course, of course it was. So do
- 4:45they give you nuggets of gold when you get out of your car for twenty
- 4:47five dollars? Do they give you a nugget of gold? And maybe maybe
- 4:51when you don't pay it and they tow your car and then they charge you
- 4:54three hundred to get it out. That is it's it's the ultimate. I
- 5:00mean you have to tip your hat to them because it's brilliant business wise.
- 5:03Oh it is. Again, it's it's sort of akin to a musician owning
- 5:09all the publishing rights to their music. I would like you want to own
- 5:13everything about your business from the top down. Like if if you start any
- 5:16sort of a I don't know any any sort of a food business, Let's
- 5:20say it's not enough to just make the food and distribute it. You should
- 5:25also then own the trucks that deliver it. So basically own every single segment
- 5:31of the supply chain or whatever, all through the business. And I also
- 5:35feel like part like there was so many occupations in the world that were underserved
- 5:42when we were all in school on career day, like there was no one
- 5:46there. There was not car wash operator owner there, which makes tons of
- 5:50money. There wasn't parking lot owner, and those are huge, huge money
- 5:57makers that I would have been really interested in knowing about. That's you know,
- 6:00I'm in a schooler. That just means you didn't go to school with
- 6:03any Persians. So that's what ippened. That's all it was, and nobody,
- 6:09nobody like you. You're not gonna ask like a second grader, like,
- 6:12hey, so what do you want to do when you grow up?
- 6:14It's like, I want to own a parking garage, Like nobody wants that.
- 6:17Nobody's dream is to do that. Well, that's why it's all about.
- 6:20It's all about the messaging. So what you do is if you're the
- 6:24parking garage owner, parking lot or a TOE operating company, what you do
- 6:28is you show up with your logo stuff, right because you got to promote
- 6:31a company. But as far as the pitch goes, you show your vacation
- 6:36photos. You hands by my microphone boom. This was me in Tahiti for
- 6:43a month and a half, all because I charged twenty five dollars and own
- 6:46the lot behind Standard Poor and I also own the TOE operating company. So
- 6:50you show the kids what's possible by owning the parking lot in the TOE company,
- 6:56and then they'll be on board. So you paid you. I paid
- 7:00twenty five dollars to park. No, raj I did not pay twenty five
- 7:03dollars to park. I paid twenty five dollars to know exactly where my car
- 7:06was in uptown, after I'd had two crafts of mimosas and a spicy bloody
- 7:14money well spent. It was at that point plus Tray gave us some gave
- 7:18us some carb heavy cinnamon rolls. Oh okay, So there was no way
- 7:25I was going to be able to walk a mile after that to fight.
- 7:30Okay. I was almost disappointed in you, but that works out. Speaking
- 7:33of disappointment, Yes, Cowboys Eagles Game of Inches horror officiating. Dak doesn't
- 7:40know between the inbounds pylon the often in the end at another county pylon.
- 7:46He doesn't know how big or small his feet are, our tight ends,
- 7:48don't know at what depth to run an out route. The officials don't seem
- 7:54to understand Dak when he says seventy one is an eligible receiver. The officials
- 7:58don't like to call holding penalties until three and a half quarters in, but
- 8:03they are fine to give the Cowboys fifty three yards forward but then also take
- 8:07them back thirty forty yards. It was kind of a dumb game if you're
- 8:11a Cowboys fan. Yeah, that was. I was texting my brother,
- 8:18texting Neil throughout the whole thing, and he he brought up the same point
- 8:24you just did. He goes, are they going to call a holding penalty
- 8:26at any point in this game? And I was like, I don't know
- 8:28how they don't see this, and it's blatant, and I've always wondered this,
- 8:35like I don't think refs should have that kind of power. I think
- 8:41they should, right, I think they should. There should be some other
- 8:43like it should go to the booth like it should. If you're gonna review
- 8:48plays, I think you should review. I think there should be somebody in
- 8:50the booth that sees every play. And so you would prefer the the on
- 8:54field officials or official whatever basically just be the clockman in all penalties and things
- 9:01are booth stuff. Yes, that would be ideal because there I mean,
- 9:05this was just I mean there was I counted six before the third quarter,
- 9:11six holding penalties that weren't called. But again, I mean it was bad.
- 9:16It was just it was just dumb throughout the whole thing. Just watching
- 9:20the rafts and watch and again going back to just the Cowboys in general,
- 9:24just watching them kind of acquiesced to what was just what was happening, going,
- 9:31Okay, if it's gonna be dumb, we're gonna play dumb uh And
- 9:33that's what they did. And that's why I posted the next day, never
- 9:37go Full Cowboy. That made me laugh out loud. That was that was
- 9:43so great, Never Go Full Cowboy. What I don't understand is, like
- 9:48I specifically, there was one play, you know, cowboys try to do
- 9:52a quarterback sneak. I'm like, are they afraid of Dak's ass? Why
- 9:58can't they push it? Why can't they? You know, it's like you
- 10:00watched, well, his his asses. Apparently his ass is apparently more fragile
- 10:03than Jalen Hurts's. And I will say this, and this is my setting
- 10:09for watching the game was almost terrible because we're now living on Saint John.
- 10:16They were only like two bars showing the game with the sound, and we
- 10:18were at one of them, and so was about thirty Eagles fans. Oh,
- 10:24to their credit, there was one pair of Eagles fans that we sat
- 10:26next to the entire game, and I swear to god, I'm not making
- 10:31any of this up. They were nice. The rest of them were not.
- 10:35They were all terrible stereotypical Eagles fans. But the couple we were next
- 10:39to, they were actually nice. Now that being said it was a dumb
- 10:46dumb, dumb, dumb, dumb dumb game. Yeah it was. Yeah,
- 10:50it was just I didn't I haven't seen a game officiated like that before.
- 10:56Like, at least I know there's a bias, right, I get
- 10:58it. There's a whole town bias and whatever. It's their hometown refs,
- 11:01whatever you want to say, but the hometown refs their NFL refs. Yeah,
- 11:05I know, But still there is a bias when it's a home game.
- 11:09I get it, right, they're a little more favorable, a little
- 11:11more favorable. I understand that. But when it's just blatant, like what
- 11:16do you do? Like if if like again, like I was sitting next
- 11:20to I was sitting across from a lady who showed up just so hammered.
- 11:28She was for that day. She was my spirit animal, like she showed
- 11:31up just like I just like when you when you walk into a bar and
- 11:37as a bartender, when when the first thing they order is a water,
- 11:39I'm like, yeah, they're they're already, They're already there, buddy,
- 11:43they got their part. Was she a Chiefs fan that had started at like,
- 11:48you know, nine o'clock in the morning. No, I had a
- 11:50couple of those that no. This this was i mean full blue and white.
- 11:56And she walked in and the first thing I thought, I'm like,
- 11:58I'm just waiting on my way and the first thing I see her and I
- 12:01was like, Oh, somebody's emmated already. And then she said I was
- 12:05like a water. I was like, okay, that's what happens when when
- 12:09your pregame takes on too much of an in game mentality. Yeah, and
- 12:16uh, and she was called she was like the hold. I was like,
- 12:18she can see it. If she can see holding metal, He's like,
- 12:24she's the reason that Crown Royal has those commercials where the official comes in,
- 12:28blows the whistle and says, water time out. It's because of that
- 12:31lady. Yeah, she was. She she water timed out for for the
- 12:35first Uh. I think the first, first and second quarter. Maybe maybe
- 12:39were able to watch a bunch of the games. I think you probably had
- 12:41to work. I was working, so I got to see parts of it.
- 12:45I definitely saw some of the There was one play that where Dak was
- 12:50running around and and uh, I'm sorry when hearts was running around and like
- 12:56You're like, I'm going, holy crap, that that not a hole that's
- 13:00a tackle, and but there there were that goes both ways. And I
- 13:05do understand that. It's easy when you know you're watching it on TV and
- 13:11angles and everything else. But you're on the field, it's moving incredibly fast.
- 13:13But the rest did see seem rather incompetent, but I'm not not knowing
- 13:20where the sideline is is also pretty incompetent, exactly. So that's so that's
- 13:24where as a player, if you're having to work against the adversity that is
- 13:28NFL officiating, then you need to make sure you're doing everything you can to
- 13:33not well shoot yourself in the foot. Uh. Basically it's like, help
- 13:37you help yourself? Yeah, in the face of poor officiating or things that
- 13:43are beyond your control. One thing DA could control was his right foot,
- 13:48but apparently he didn't bother to do that. I don't know if he needs
- 13:50glasses. I don't know if he is color blind and can't see white versus
- 13:54green in and out of bounds. But I I during that play, I'm
- 13:56like, how, how, how, how how do you mess that up
- 14:00that madly? And then the look of disappointment when he saw the replay.
- 14:05Yeah, the look of disappointment on his face. Buddy when they when they
- 14:09called touchdown, he should have been like, shager one right off the field
- 14:11quick before they he was like, yeah, that was it. It's like,
- 14:15dude, you don't know where your feet are in bounds. That's troubling
- 14:18me as a forty million dollars a year quarterback. Yeah, that's again,
- 14:22it was like a dumb game. When I saw I saw it, I
- 14:24was like, I mean, I'm sitting there's one guy and don't be this
- 14:28guy. He's like a bit je hundred dollars. Uh that it's not a
- 14:31touchdown. I'm like, I saw what you saw already saw it? What
- 14:35do you what are you talking about? Like? Uh? The look when
- 14:39he's like he looks up at the he's like, oh what, I'm like,
- 14:43how did you you're there? Yeah? You should be able to see
- 14:48down to your own foot. You shouldn't have to look up at a jumbo
- 14:52trying to know where your own foot was. Yeah, and then uh,
- 14:54you know, and and again I again I don't understand. Like the knee,
- 15:00like the our tight end, the knee was down on the goal line,
- 15:05but the ball didn't cross the plane. I didn't, So I'm glad
- 15:07you brought this up, and then real quick before we touch on the tight
- 15:11end touchdown non touchdown for the Cowboys. I want to bring up that I
- 15:15forgot to mention with Trey when Trey brought up Dak's fragile butt, which is
- 15:20right before they right before they ran that quarterback sneak. I turned to Terra
- 15:22and I even turned to the nice egules fans next to me, is like,
- 15:26I don't know why they're doing this. He sucks at quarterback sneaks.
- 15:28I've never I don't know if I've ever seen him do a quarterback snink.
- 15:31He's like, yeah, that was really good. I don't to me,
- 15:33that's not something that should be in Dak's repertoire or he needs to practice it
- 15:37more because he doesn't seem very good at it. He does lumbers, he
- 15:39does lumber a bit. He's one of those quarterback sneaks. He's kind of
- 15:43leans, kind of falls, but that's not going to work. But going
- 15:48back to the knee thing with a touchdown non touchdown, someone brought this up,
- 15:54and I think it's very very accurate. That is, if that play
- 15:58happened on the sideline, that's a catch, right because he has to maintain
- 16:07possession. He had one knee in bounds, and he has to maintain possession
- 16:11throughout the entirety of the catch, which goes into out of bounds territory right
- 16:15right on the goal line. Though he is called down exactly where the ball
- 16:22is when his knee hits, which in this case was one inch short of
- 16:26a touchdown. Yes, but let's say that one inch was erased and he
- 16:32catches the ball with the ball breaking the plane of the end zone when his
- 16:36knee is down at first blush, it's a touchdown. But then if his
- 16:41as he continues to the ground, if he then bobbles or coughs up the
- 16:45ball, it's an incomplete pass. Right. So this is one of those
- 16:49times where if you play the game long enough in the NFL, clearly has
- 16:53where you've got to look at that plane and be like, you know,
- 16:56we kind of need to address that because we just found a little land of
- 17:00limbo here that that caused a major issue in a major conference game in the
- 17:04season. Yes. Uh, and that was my I'm glad again, I'm
- 17:10glad you're saying the same thing. Uh. That was my thought is if
- 17:14this was if we move him up and he's going out of bounds. That's
- 17:19he's catch a catch. But right there he's it's it's an inch away,
- 17:25Like, I don't understand how that that's why it has to go. And
- 17:27again it went back to the booths to review. But per the rule as
- 17:32it is on in the book, it was a correct call ultimately that it
- 17:37was not a touchdown, even though it went against us as Cowboys fans.
- 17:40And yeah, I don't I'm gonna be a contrarian here and say, sorry,
- 17:45what contrarian. I'm gonna replay back. I'm gonna replay that for you.
- 17:48I want you to hear the first Yeah, the first time. I'm
- 17:53like, yeah, you are. It's it's it's it's his favorite word.
- 18:00If anybody missed out on the bleep last week, that's his favorite. Order
- 18:06backs and receivers, they know that the ball has to cross the plane.
- 18:10That is the ultimate when it comes to the end zone. That has always
- 18:14been the ball has to cross the plane period the end. It's always been
- 18:18that way. Now you want to get into the semantics of you know,
- 18:22yeah, if it's out of bounds, if he has two feet in yeah,
- 18:23But also, Dan, I did one point you said of if he
- 18:29has control crosses the plane. Once it crosses the plane, if it then
- 18:32hits the ground and the ball comes loose, technically no, it's actually would
- 18:36still be a touchdown because the ground can't cause a fumble and as long as
- 18:38he had control as it was crossing the plane. But see that therein lies
- 18:42the gray area. Because what you're saying is correct, and this is one
- 18:45of those situations where I think two things are correct at the same time,
- 18:48even though they're kind of opposed. Take the same play like you were just
- 18:55describing, happening at the front edge of the end zone versus the back edge
- 18:57of the end zone, right, So he catches the ball two feet inbounds
- 19:03in the back of the end zone and then falls and as he falls that
- 19:07ball pops out. He's not getting the touchdown because he didn't complete the process
- 19:11of the catch. So that's why I'm saying is there needs to be Even
- 19:14though this type of play happens very rarely, it happened in this game,
- 19:18so they need to take a look at it. There shouldn't be a double
- 19:22standard based on where you are on the field. It's like it's either a
- 19:26catch or it's not right, and you need to you need to just tweak
- 19:30the rule just a little bit to where it makes sense. Yeah, at
- 19:36the end of the day, the NFL could just go double middle fingers and
- 19:38say till you're tied, end to run a half yard deeper rounte like you
- 19:41should have in the first one. Yeah, I mean, ultimately, I
- 19:45think, you know, I don't think and I and I said it before,
- 19:52I was like, I'm giving them. I had a good feeling I
- 19:55had that they were playing well, and I think they had some momentum going
- 19:57in when I watched the first like the first was it was three and out
- 20:04very quickly, and I didn't I didn't see any sense of urgency or or
- 20:14like that confidence that they walk in with that you can kind of you can
- 20:18kind of tell walking into a game like Okay, they're walking in with a
- 20:21different kind of swag. And I didn't see that, and I was worried
- 20:23immediately. I was like, when it was just that really quick that first
- 20:26series, when it was three and out, like within I think it was
- 20:30two minutes, it was three and out, and I'm like wow, and
- 20:33they just walked and they just kind of walked off to the side. I
- 20:36was more like almost like a well, a shucks, Yep, that's exactly
- 20:38what. And that's the That's the thing that always bugged me about Tony Romo
- 20:42was the aw shucks mentality, like, oh, well, dude again,
- 20:45we'll see you in the second and let me put my slip ones on.
- 20:48Uh, and I'm like, where's the like Aikman had that killer Like you
- 20:53would see Akman go over to his players and yell and scream like we get
- 21:00into this game and been Aikman in the first series, he'd been to the
- 21:04sideline and he would have been upset. Yeah, and then I haven't seen
- 21:08that from any quarterback that we've had since him Tom Brady. Yeah, but
- 21:14we we didn't have Tom Brady. Just focusing on on Drew Henson's lack of
- 21:21motivation. Quincy Carter went a big ass tour. Hey, here's but let
- 21:26me let me just say that was a weird That was a weird thing to
- 21:30say. Let me just say this about Quincy Carter. Uh, he's a
- 21:37great tipper or he was. You're going to say that back when he back,
- 21:41when we defend Quincy Carter till the day he dies, because he because
- 21:44he helped keep Raj's nightclub and deep him alive for years. Oh my god.
- 21:48Yes. And the day before a game, I'm like, I've told
- 21:51you guys this before I'd watched, like the third interception, I'm like,
- 21:55he's hummed over, Like I know, I know what time he got in
- 21:59his car. Yeah, there's no people talk about having receipts on things.
- 22:03Roger literally had them. I did. And uh. My favorite part of
- 22:06this story is he was interviewed years later and they called me. It was
- 22:10an Abilene I think it was where he was living. There was the newspaper,
- 22:12there was interviewing him. They're like, hey, he frequently did your
- 22:15bar quite often. How was he as a person. I was like,
- 22:19he was delightful, Like he was wonderful, he was sweet, and he
- 22:23tipped one hundred percent. So if the bill is a great customer, yes,
- 22:27if the bill was three thousand dollars, he tipped three thousand dollars,
- 22:30that's how That's how it was. And when they went back to him to
- 22:34confirm this, he had no recollection of ever being in my club. I
- 22:38was like, that was honestly, that's a a pr professional told him to
- 22:42say that Yeah. I was like, that's the or or So did vodka,
- 22:48So that was a company. Was was great. Yeah, but I
- 22:53mean I don't see that, Like, we haven't had that quarterback. We
- 22:57haven't had like your Tom Brady. You haven't had your guy that goes over
- 23:02and goes, hey, man, what what are we doing? Like we're
- 23:04getting paid a lot of money, Let's step this up. And nobody seems
- 23:08to do that. And Dak is again you see that kind of Romo esque
- 23:12Oh darn well, we'll get him next time. And there's there's not that.
- 23:18There's not that killer instinct. I haven't seen it. I don't.
- 23:22I don't think he has it. Maybe I'm wrong, and maybe it's like
- 23:26I know who could I know who could instill that in him? Who's that
- 23:30someone that we know very very close to us who labels himself as a contrarian,
- 23:38which is what the Cowboys need and their starting quarterback. They need a
- 23:41little bit of a little bit of contrarian that would really get them over the
- 23:52You need a big, big, big old contrarian. That's what they needed.
- 23:59Yeah, this is while the punters over there going like I got a
- 24:03new catchphrase. You're listening to the tree House. Visitors online That Treehouse on
- 24:14Air dot com. You're listening to the Treehouse. Visit us online That Treehouse
- 24:36on Air dot com. Welcome back Inside the Treehouse Football Podcast, episode number
- 24:41ten, where we lament the Cowboys lost to the Eagles twenty eight to twenty
- 24:48three, and part of what's always going to be frustrating as a Cowboys fan
- 24:55despite losing and disappointment in general, are Eagles fans and how truly awful they
- 25:03can be. And what is frightening about it is they know it, and
- 25:08honestly, they they don't just embrace it, they hump it. They don't
- 25:17only own it, but they parade it, and they love it. They
- 25:19cherish it. They call it George. And I'm going to give you a
- 25:23brief story here which embodies Eagles fandom, but one of the least egregious ways.
- 25:33Okay, because Philly fans in general, whether it's you know, Philadelphia
- 25:37in general, like if it's Phillies seventy six ers, although they don't have
- 25:41as much to be you know, you know, loud about lately flyers,
- 25:45and obviously the Eagles as a fan base, every other fan base agrees that
- 25:52they're pretty much terrible and then they go and prove you correct. So here's
- 25:56a small example of that in real life that happened before the Eagles Cowboys game
- 26:03on Sunday. Okay, you ready. So we are newly relocated, my
- 26:07wife and I to Saint John and Saint John on the West End, which
- 26:11is cruise base. It's very small to where the cruise ships come in.
- 26:15There's lots of bars and restaurants, lots of activity. It's where the nightlife
- 26:18is. It's also where there's the bars and go watch the games. So
- 26:21Tara is running a quick errand before the game before meeting me back at the
- 26:23bar to watch the game, and while she runs across the park, she
- 26:30is then verbally accosted by Eagles fans because all she is doing is walking across
- 26:34the park wearing a Cowboys star T shirt and the throng of Eagles fans are
- 26:42walking the opposite direction. And what do they start doing? They start booing
- 26:45her simply because of her T shirt. And she didn't even realize why.
- 26:48At first. She's like, why are these people making weird noises? And
- 26:52then she sees them looking at her and like boo, And I guess they
- 26:55could see the look on her face like why are you booing? Is something
- 26:57wrong with you? You're having a stroke And they're like, oh, galboys,
- 27:00and then they're pulling on their ego shoots boo you. And then they
- 27:04asked her where the beach bar was because they couldn't find it. Hilarious,
- 27:10I'm gonna say that again. H they're on an island. Yeah, the
- 27:15island is eight miles across, and they had to act the beach bar is
- 27:21located. Yes, okay, well and then boo the person giving them directions.
- 27:26So that's what they did. They bowed her and then like, hey,
- 27:29do you know where beach bar is? And then she's like, yeah,
- 27:32I'll tell you because Tara, Tara is wonderful at maintaining the high ground.
- 27:36She's like she gave them directions to where the beach bar was. Ironically
- 27:38enough, it was on the beach and I would have I would have been
- 27:44like, way, they bowed her again, yes, so then I would
- 27:48have been like, hey, it's on Saint Martin. That's why you don't
- 27:52have to take the ferry. Uh. And that's where the beach bar is.
- 27:53That's where everybody's going to watch the game. I would have given them
- 27:56the Yeah. I mean it's the same thing. It's the Philly the guy.
- 28:02We're losing that I think there was thirty four seconds left, look a
- 28:04bit of one hundred dollars, Like what stop? Like we lost? I
- 28:10get it? Do you want me to say it? I understand it.
- 28:11A one hundred dollars Cowboys loose. Yeah, I'm I'm not an idiot.
- 28:17My dear friend, uh and wonderful comedian Don Marrero who's from Philadelphia, has
- 28:22been on stage and said this. He gets to do this really cool thing
- 28:26that some comics get to do. They go to the training camps and then
- 28:30they perform for the team. It's a really great gig. It's really good
- 28:34money. And he said this on stage. He said, I've I've performed
- 28:38many times for my hometown, the Philadelphia Eagles, and I've performed for the
- 28:42Dallas Cowboys. And he gets booed all the time, and he goes,
- 28:45the nicest fans in the world are Dallas Cowboys fans, and the worst fans
- 28:49in the world are Philadelphia Eagles. And he's from Philly. Like do they
- 28:55cheer it? Yeah? Yeah, They're like, yeah we are. I'm
- 28:59like, yes, you threw you threw snowballs at Santa like like like,
- 29:03I mean they had the year that Jimmy Johnson was running off the field and
- 29:07they were throwing snowballs. They found batteries inside the snowballs, like I mean,
- 29:11what are you doing? Like still vet? Yeah, yeah, hell
- 29:15if people don't remember bounty Gate, oh yeah, yeah, there was actually
- 29:19a really good recap. I'm not sure if it was Fox that put it
- 29:22out or if I just saw it online or maybe a little bit of both.
- 29:26That sort of set the stage for that rivalry, and they showed some
- 29:30older clips of Eagles cowboys and stuff. But if we're being honest, it
- 29:34really picked up steam with the Buddy Ryan era as a head coach of the
- 29:38Eagles. That's that's when it took on a really violent thing, and that's
- 29:42where we got bounty Gate, like Trey saying, yeah, I mean I
- 29:45remember, I mean, the quintessential moment of Eagles fans and there are many,
- 29:49but in my mind, it always has been when Michael Irvan is laying
- 29:53there on the field, you know, almost paralyzed, and they're or maybe
- 29:59dead, yeah you know, and they're booing. I mean, they're just
- 30:03no they were cheering. Oh that's what I'm sorry. Yes, you're right,
- 30:07yeah, but you know, yeah they were happy that. Yeah he
- 30:10was hurt. I mean, and you can go back just that. Phillies,
- 30:15Arizona Diamondbacks. You know, Baseball series, when the Diamondbacks won at
- 30:18Philly. You know when the Rangers won, they were gracious, they clapped
- 30:22everything else. Philly fans, of course, they stay around just to boo.
- 30:26Yeah. Well, I mean it's Philadelphia. I mean, I don't
- 30:30know if have you ever been, No, and and everything we've said is
- 30:33why because look, I mean, let me pose a let me pose a
- 30:40hypothetical for you in Raj, I'm not sure how much you can relate to
- 30:44this, because I'm sure you've been in New York many times as a comedian,
- 30:45and you're a Yankees fan. So you, Raj, can go to
- 30:48Yankee Stadium and wear your team stuff because you're a Yankees fan. If Trey
- 30:52and I were to go to Yankee Stadium wearing Ranger stuff, I wouldn't necessarily
- 30:56feel unsafe. I'm probably gonna get some things yelled at me, but it's
- 30:59not like I'm walking in there wearing a Red Sox jersey. So my question
- 31:03to you is this, if you had to, would you rather walk into
- 31:07Yankee Stadium wearing a Red Sox jersey or vice versa, walk into Finnway wearing
- 31:11a Yankees jersey? Or would you be forced to walk into Lincoln Financial where
- 31:22the Eagles play, wearing a Cowboys jersey? Oh? I take I take
- 31:26the Yankees at Fenway. Yeah, I would absolutely. I would rather be
- 31:33on one side of the Yankees Red Sox thing. Then I would rather be
- 31:37the Cowboys fan wearing a Cowboys jersey where the Eagles play. I went to
- 31:41the There was a series of years ago when it was the Yankees came to
- 31:45town. I think there was like two games. I think there was two
- 31:48games in New York and then two games in UH at the Old Ballpark,
- 31:52and I was I had my Yankees hat on. And the only thing that
- 31:57when I sat down amongst all all of my friends who are all Rangers fans,
- 32:00and me with the Yankees hat. The only thing is every time the
- 32:06Rangers did anything of anywhere, like if they you know, just a base
- 32:09hit or an at whatever it was, somebody would scream like he's got to
- 32:14buy the beers. Like that's the only thing. And then I remember I
- 32:19went, I bought a round of beers and I sat down. And this
- 32:22is back when Cecil Fielder was still playing for the kay until ages ago.
- 32:25So he comes up to bat and I just put my hand up because I
- 32:30knew it just the way he walked in and it was just a walk off
- 32:32home run. And I just turned around and go, who's buying the beers?
- 32:36And somebody actually bought me a beer? And uh, that's actually a
- 32:38sweet story. Yeah, that was That was the most accosting of that.
- 32:43I got worrying a yet. That is my idea of fandom. It's yeah,
- 32:46it's a little bit of competitiveness, but realizing you're not a player and
- 32:51you're not going to actually get to hold the trophy. Typically you're not getting
- 32:54a game check, you didn't contribute significantly to the wind. Yeah, but
- 32:58you can have a little light gesting, you know, between fans. Ultimately
- 33:02it's classy. Yeah, it was not. It was fun. It was
- 33:05it was It was any time the Yankees would come up with like are you
- 33:08ready? Was gonna struck him out? I'm like, and they would yell
- 33:10that at me, like that was it. It wasn't like anything violent or
- 33:14anything stuff that was typically in good natured fun as opposed to outright you know,
- 33:21bullying and or assault. Yeah, exactly, So I mean like and
- 33:24again, like again, like you're saying like I love that. Like when
- 33:28I'm sitting at a sitting at a bar or whatever watching a game, Like,
- 33:31what the hell does he think he's doing? I'm like, he's being
- 33:32an athlete. I don't know what what are you doing? We're eating the
- 33:38athlete, Like we're eating wings and drinking booze. What do you what part
- 33:43of this game? Or you contributed to eating wings, drinking booze and demanding
- 33:46excellence? That needs that needs to be our tree house football shirts, wings,
- 33:59drinking booze, demanding influence the Cowboys right infringement star, Yeah, what's
- 34:07it like? What's it like you Trey being a being a highly esteemed contrarian
- 34:13when you encounter Eagles fans. I try to just avoid Eagles fans at all.
- 34:19That should tell you everything you need to know. That's the Treehouse muscle
- 34:22right there, And I go listen, there are the two girls and they
- 34:27were regulars at my old place, and love them just sweetheart. Twenty something
- 34:31huge Cowboys fans. They go every year they take a trip to follow an
- 34:37Await game. They've been to Kansas City. Now, okay, they literally
- 34:43just just big fans, gotcha. Like they're going to be at the every
- 34:47game, you know, watching it in They're just huge fans. And so
- 34:52a couple of years ago that I'm like, where you're going to go this
- 34:54year? You know, Philly I go. They're like, what I go?
- 35:00You don't understand. It's different, like they they they you, it
- 35:04doesn't matter that you're too you know, you know, sweet girls, you're
- 35:07gonna be shocked at the way what happens. They're like, no, it's
- 35:12that's just rumor. It's that they came back shell shocked. They're like,
- 35:15I would almost think that that might have been worse for them, because I
- 35:17feel Phillies fans and sharks are similar in that they can both smell blood in
- 35:22the water. And I think sending two naive young women to watch a Eagles
- 35:27game wearing Cowboys stuff, I feel like that's that's just like the Eagles fans
- 35:30kind of like it's gonna be easy. Oh yeah, absolutely, just like
- 35:36throwing just a baby in the middle of the Lions and the Eagles fans going,
- 35:45yet you did baby. So now all that being said, the Eagles
- 35:52did win, so they do get you know, bragging rights for the next
- 35:54five weeks because that's the next time the Cowboys match up against the Eagles.
- 35:58This week, though, Cowboys go up against the Giants at home. The
- 36:02Giants that not only lost against the new head coach Raiders, but also they
- 36:12find themselves with two whole wins and they got to go to Arlington and and
- 36:15play the Cowboys that are itching for a conference win after the Eagles lost,
- 36:20and they have their quarterback has gone with an achilles tear, right, Daniel
- 36:23Jones is so I imagine that. Imagine that Achilles tear was one of those
- 36:29that when the head trainer turned around, he grabbed the shears and finished the
- 36:31job. You don't think he's gonna be like Aaron Rodgers and go I'll be
- 36:37back in a couple of weeks. I think he's gonna say, like,
- 36:39you know, I just got a huge contract, I'll be back in a
- 36:42couple of years. And it's isn't that the same? They both playing the
- 36:47metal lends right, isn't the same field? Isn't it? The turf is
- 36:51the question I think Aaron Rodgers brought it up is that turf is dangerous and
- 36:57turf Monster is real, and it keeps getting New York football. Yeah,
- 37:00I mean got Aaron Rodgers and now it's got Daniel Jones, and I just
- 37:02think when you have that much money invested in those players, you change the
- 37:07turf. Like, I don't know what the deals unless they're the only thing
- 37:13is they're actually scared of finding Jimmy Hoffa. I don't know what it would
- 37:15be. We're not feeling that off, but yeah, I mean this is
- 37:21I mean, they couldn't get an easier win. They don't have their their
- 37:25quarterback, they don't have their Their team is terrible. Trey, what's the
- 37:30line going into Cowboys and Giants? I don't know why you have to look
- 37:36these up? We know you you you bet. I think it's because he
- 37:38wants to look like he has to look them up, even though we all
- 37:42know he knows them, not only off the top of his head, but
- 37:44deep in his heart he knows. He just doesn't want to appear to be
- 37:46a degenerate. We know, like when we're doing this show, like people
- 37:52aren't dropping off money, like like like wepaking of that Trey. Where's my
- 37:58money? So I actually took the Eagles minus three, so obviously they won.
- 38:02I need my bag of money. Even though I'm a Cowboys fan,
- 38:06I'm when it comes to financial decisions, I will bet against my team against
- 38:09Yes, you were here for it. Yeah I didn't know. You actually
- 38:13put money on it. I said it on the show. It makes it
- 38:15real. Trade, Where's my money? The line is sixteen Cowboys minus sixteen
- 38:21and a half and the over under is thirty eight and a half. So
- 38:24basically what Vegas is saying is it's going to be a blowout. Yeah,
- 38:28it should be a Cowboys blowout and doubtful that the Giants can score. It's
- 38:37a question, it really is. It really is amazing that people even bother
- 38:40to do sports shows like this, because once Vegas puts numbers out like that,
- 38:45you're like, well, that says everything that needs to be said right
- 38:46there. Yeah, and since they run everything, that's how see and to
- 38:52prove my point, Vegas said, this is what it was. You bet
- 38:57against the team and you won. Yeah. I won. So I'm gonna
- 39:01do it again this week. So I'm gonna continue my streak of betting against
- 39:05the Cowboys and trying to win money, because why should the Joneses be the
- 39:08only Cowboys fans making money off this thing. So that's the bandwagon I'm going
- 39:14to jump on, and that is betting against the Cowboys until they prove me
- 39:16wrong, because I will be eating chicken wings, drinking beer, and demanding
- 39:22excellence. So I will take the under. Oh, I'll take the under
- 39:28because I think that thirty eight and a half they're begging you to take the
- 39:30over, so I think it'll be under. It'll still be probably Cowboys,
- 39:34you know, twenty eight to three or something, but that's the under,
- 39:38so it'll still be a blow up. It'll go under, and that the
- 39:45points line is real tempting to take the over. So I'm gonna take the
- 39:49under. I'm gonna say the Cowboys win convincingly but kind of stink at the
- 39:52same time, because that's what the Cowboys do. So I'll take the under
- 39:54and I'll take the Giants on the points. But again, you said the
- 39:59last time that you you were taking the points, but you're not saying how
- 40:02much money you're putting on. You're asking for a bag of money, but
- 40:06you never established how much you were actually betting. I guess I never really
- 40:09truly told you my strategy, Raj, And that is to verbally say the
- 40:15bet, but then physically want a bag of money, having laid out any
- 40:22actual cash while it afforded me any windfalls of cash. At least, I'm
- 40:30not in the red see. And this is why you got to do a
- 40:31twenty three and meters because I'm positive you're part Indian, because that's that's just
- 40:37how we. I did do an ancestry DNA. And I'm sorry, sorry,
- 40:40Raj, it's any standard white guy stuff. Okay, you got no
- 40:45like no South Asian because you met like what well, you know what you
- 40:52know, when I'm around you long enough, it just kind of runs off.
- 40:57You're just like, I'm not putting any money up, want the profit.
- 41:00That's right, I do. That's that's the most Indian as it gets.
- 41:05That's they call it. They call it the American way. I don't
- 41:07know why, because like most things American, we stole it. Yeah,
- 41:15this land is now ours, Drey, Where's where's where's your pretend money going
- 41:22or real money going? This week? Ah? God, I hate that
- 41:28beat. I I I say, bet on how you bet the opposite of
- 41:36what you think Vegas wants you to do. What I would hope is to
- 41:39sit on it. If the line goes to seventeen, I'd take the points
- 41:42and uh more than anything else thinking that. And it happens in the NFL
- 41:49all the time of the trash time touchdown of like, you know, the
- 41:52Cowboys can be up, you know, twenty eight to three or whatever,
- 41:57and then next thing you know, they come back and you know, the
- 42:00Giants score ten points that are useless. But I think Cowboys feel like giving
- 42:04Deuce Vaughan a rushing touchdown. Roger, what about you? Are you?
- 42:10Are you? Are you? I'm with you, man. I would take
- 42:15the under because I think they're I think they're they're gonna be delightfully terrible.
- 42:22I think I think they're gonna be one of those it's gonna be a great
- 42:24game. But then at some point you're gonna go why, Like just like
- 42:29every game, you just go why, why did you do that? I
- 42:32feel like we're on a streak of creating shirts. We have hotter than bear
- 42:37spray. Yes, we now have our first Cowboys shirt, which is eating
- 42:40wings, drinking beer, demanding excellence. That is a third shirt also Cowboys
- 42:46related. It can say the Dallas Cowboys have the blue star and underneath it.
- 42:52Why why why it has to be like one of those things that you
- 43:01can push them at talks like you can push the star and it's just your
- 43:05voice going fine bye. Now I want my bags of money. All right.
- 43:19I need to get on the phone with Hayden from Spoke custom We need
- 43:21a shirt that talks yeah on this record. The shirt that can say press
- 43:28my star. I'll put your picture on there and just go press it.
- 43:36Money and marketing. Hell ya, thanks for hanging out. What's in the
