- 0:00Leviticus chapter 2. Let us pray.
- 0:07Father God, we thank you for another day.
- 0:10Thank you for waking us up, putting us on her feet.
- 0:14Thank you for food, clean drinking water.
- 0:18Thank you God for breath and our lungs.
- 0:20Thank you God, for clothing. Thank you for love and for
- 0:24family. Thank you, God, for all the many
- 0:27blessings that you've already poured out, Lord, even the
- 0:30things we're not aware of. Thank you, God, for saving us,
- 0:35Lord, to the utmost. Thank you, God, for rescuing us
- 0:38and pulling us up out of the muck and the mire.
- 0:41Thank you, God, for this wonderful life that you've
- 0:44called us into, the abundant life.
- 0:46Father, Lord, we repent. Lord, we confess.
- 0:51Lord, we turn from everything that's dragging us away.
- 0:55God, we consecrate the temple. Lord, I pray that you'll help us
- 1:00to be men and women of faith, those that actually do the work
- 1:04of an evangelist, those that actually are out in the harvest.
- 1:07Father, I pray that we'll come out.
- 1:09We'll meet you there. And Lord, hand in hand, Father,
- 1:13produce a crop, produce fruit, produce the effect, God, that
- 1:18you are after for this world. I pray that we'll be playing a
- 1:22I'll pray God that we'll continue to walk the walk and
- 1:27talk to talk God, that will not just be hypocrites and
- 1:30duplicious Father, but that we'll actually be the ones for
- 1:34such a generation as this God, those that people can look upon
- 1:39and see the reality. God of the manifestation Lord of
- 1:43your presence in our lives. God, I pray that you'll help us,
- 1:47help us to finish this race well.
- 1:49I decrease as you increase. It's all about King Jesus.
- 1:53It's not about us, Lord. And so I pray that we can get
- 1:56out of the way, Lord. We give you center stage, We
- 1:59give you the whole room, God. We give you every single
- 2:02molecule, every single bit of us, Father.
- 2:05It's all yours, Lord. We surrender all.
- 2:08Lord, Teach us your ways. Keep us on the right paths.
- 2:12Rebuke the devourer, God, bind the enemy, Father, in the mighty
- 2:15name of Jesus, help us, God. You are incredible.
- 2:19We love you, King Jesus. It's all about you.
- 2:22In Jesus name I pray. Amen.
- 2:26Well let's start in verse one then.
- 2:29When any will offer a meat offering unto the Lord, His
- 2:33offering shall be a fine flower, and he shall pour oil upon it
- 2:37and put frankincense upon it. Can you see the typology of
- 2:42Christ? Can you see it friends?
- 2:44This fine flower, this is His presence.
- 2:49It is fine. I pray that you see the
- 2:52smoothness of Christ. I pray that you see that He is
- 2:57our all sufficient sacrifice. Look at how this frankincense,
- 3:01it points towards His burial. It points towards what He would
- 3:04do for us. Friends.
- 3:06Look at how we're talking about the oil of the Holy Spirit
- 3:11poured out upon him to And he shall bring it to Aaron's sons,
- 3:15the priests, and he shall take of it handful of the flower, and
- 3:19of the oil thereof, and the frankincense thereof, And the
- 3:22priest shall burn the memorial of it upon the altar, to be an
- 3:26offering made by fire of a sweet savour unto the Lord.
- 3:31This is that offering made by fire.
- 3:33It's the testing that produced the brass legs of Christ.
- 3:37This is how we know that God here all the way back in
- 3:41Leviticus, He had the cross on his mind.
- 3:44He had the life of Christ on his mind.
- 3:46This all points to him. Three.
- 3:49And the remnant of the meat offering shall be Aaron and his
- 3:52sons. It is a thing most holy of the
- 3:54offering of the Lord made by fire.
- 3:56So here the priests actually get to enjoy it.
- 3:59It's not just all burnt up for. And if you bring an oblation of
- 4:03a meat offering baked in the oven, it shall be unleavened
- 4:07cakes of fine flour mingled with oil and unleavened wafers
- 4:11anointed with oil. So he here we know that leaven
- 4:13is the yeast and we know that it's the sin.
- 4:16It is the hypocrisy of the Pharisees.
- 4:19We see that we cannot just have the worship with God and mix in
- 4:26sin. It just doesn't work that way.
- 4:28We must deal with the sin at the door.
- 4:30We must have it covered over with the blood of Jesus Christ.
- 4:34We have to make sure that we are pure in His sight.
- 4:36We are innocent in his sight. We cannot bring any of this
- 4:40hypocrisy and the duplicity into to the camp.
- 4:43It doesn't work that way. God will not put up with a St.
- 4:47who is continuously stuck in sin patterns.
- 4:50He will deal with you. He will make sure to uncover
- 4:55that and to bring it to the surface and have you walk that
- 4:58season out of humiliation. And that is something that we
- 5:02can't avoid if we will deal with it at the onset.
- 5:05Make sure that you carve that cancer out before it ever goes
- 5:09into your bones. Friends, there is such things.
- 5:12You'll see it in the First Corinthians and the Corinthian
- 5:15church, these carnal Christians. And that's what he's warning US
- 5:18against. We cannot be those who call
- 5:20ourselves Christians and who are going around and we look no
- 5:23different than the rest of the world.
- 5:26Take out the 11 friends. Five, And if your oblation be a
- 5:34meat offering baked in a pan, it shall be fine flour, unleveled,
- 5:37mingled, unleavened and mingled oil.
- 5:40Look at how we take out the sin, and we cover it with the Holy
- 5:43Spirit. 6 You shall part it in pieces and pour oil on it.
- 5:47It is a meat offering. Seven If your oblation be a meat
- 5:52offering baked in the frying pan, it shall be made of fine
- 5:55flour with oil. 8 And if you and you shall bring the meat
- 5:59offering that is made of these things unto the Lord, and when
- 6:02it is presented unto the priest, he shall bring it unto the
- 6:05altar. 9 And the priest shall take from the meat offering a
- 6:09memorial thereof, and shall burn it upon the altar.
- 6:13And it is an offering made by fire of a sweet savour unto the
- 6:16Lord. The prayers of the Saints go up
- 6:19ransom. You can see here that all the
- 6:21way back in Leviticus, Moses is telling the Israelites what God
- 6:25wants. And you can see that he's
- 6:28instituting all of these guardrails so that later on way
- 6:33down the road, when they look back and they've built laws on
- 6:36top of laws to protect the inner laws so that they will not break
- 6:40them. Then you can see here that it
- 6:43all points to our desperate need for a Savior, somebody who can
- 6:47fulfill all of the law. Then we put our faith in Him, we
- 6:52believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, we call upon that name,
- 6:56and we are saved. 10 And that which is left of the meat
- 7:03offering shall be errands and the sons.
- 7:05It is a thing most holy of the offerings of the Lord, made by
- 7:08fire. So here not only is it just
- 7:11burnt up, but some of it is given over to the priests, and
- 7:15this is how they would make their living. 11 No meat
- 7:20offering which you shall bring to the Lord shall be made with
- 7:24leaven, for you shall burn no leaven, nor any honey, any
- 7:27offering of the Lord made by fire.
- 7:30So here you can see that the leaven is the sin, but this
- 7:32honey is attached to Pagan practices and God did not want
- 7:36them to come up with their own rules and set of understanding
- 7:42and ideas of how offerings should be made.
- 7:45God's the one who sets the rules.
- 7:47Friends, we need to understand that we attach ourselves to God
- 7:50and whatever God says, that is the law.
- 7:53That is what we have to do. We don't get to cherry pick
- 7:57verses, We don't get to tell God how to behave.
- 7:59We don't get to make up our own set of rules here.
- 8:02And God is telling them do not be like the pagans and mixing in
- 8:06the honey with your sacrifices. And we can also see that when we
- 8:12follow after our Lord Jesus Christ, we must count the cost.
- 8:16We must know that His ways are not our ways.
- 8:21And a lot of times in our life, it is not all sweet.
- 8:24There is this bitterness inside of our bellies after we have
- 8:28eaten of the scroll, that when we see the horror of having to
- 8:33follow after God who does whatever he pleases, friends,
- 8:37and he knows what's best because he's good.
- 8:39And that is the hardest thing for a human to understand is how
- 8:43can a good and loving God allow so much of the things that
- 8:47happen in this life? And you need to go ahead and get
- 8:50that out of the way at the outset.
- 8:52It's not all honey. It's not that as if you come
- 8:54unto the Lord and everything and every day and every moment is
- 9:00going to be exactly the way that you thought it was going to be
- 9:03and go ahead and get that notion put away.
- 9:06It's going to be hard and in this life you will have trouble.
- 9:10But take heart because He has overcome the world, friends, and
- 9:14that is what you need to understand.
- 9:15Whether it's persecution, friends, whether it is reviling,
- 9:19whether it is ridicule. Count it all as joy, friends.
- 9:23And that is what He is telling them.
- 9:25You're not mixed as honey, thinking that it's going to be
- 9:28sweet all the time. 12 As for the oblation of the first
- 9:34fruits, you shall offer them unto the Lord, but they shall
- 9:37not be burnt on the altar for a sweet savour.
- 9:41So this is the offering of the first fruits, and God deserves
- 9:44our best. He doesn't want your sloppy
- 9:46seconds and your leftovers. 13 And every oblation of the meat
- 9:50offering shall you season with salt.
- 9:53You just shall you suffer the salt of the covenant of your God
- 9:56to be lacking from the meat offering.
- 9:59For all your offerings you shall offer salt.
- 10:02So here says salt was costly, friends.
- 10:04And we need to know the salt covenant.
- 10:06This is how two would make a covenant and they would come in.
- 10:10And if people shared in this salt covenant, they would be
- 10:13friends for life. And you also need to know that
- 10:16the salt arrests the leaven friends, and we are called to be
- 10:19salt of the earth. And that is what you need to
- 10:22know. 13 And every ablation of the meat offering show you
- 10:27season with salt. So here you can see that God
- 10:30even cares about how things taste.
- 10:32And we are to be the salt of this earth, and we are to season
- 10:36a bland world that's going by the wayside, and they're
- 10:39choosing all the lesser. And when we come in, we are the
- 10:43salt. Things become more vibrant, and
- 10:46the sin is arrested when we come in to the scene. 14 And if you
- 10:52offer a meat offering of the first fruits unto the Lord, you
- 10:55shall offer the meat offering of the first fruits, Green ears of
- 10:59corn dried by the fire, even corn beaten out of full ears.
- 11:04So God wants them to bring their best to Him. 15 And you shall
- 11:09put oil upon it, and lay frankincense thereon, and is a
- 11:13meat offering. So here God wants them to
- 11:16understand that He is not looking for them to go ahead and
- 11:21get their whole life in order and then come to Him.
- 11:24He must be preeminent. He must be there first.
- 11:27He must have their entire life, not just the leftover at the
- 11:34end. 16 And the priest shall burn the memorial of it, part of
- 11:38the beaten corn of it, and part of the oil of it, with all the
- 11:41frankincense of it, and there it is, an offering made by fire
- 11:44unto the Lord. Aren't we thankful that the Lord
- 11:47Jesus Christ shredded the winepress, friends?
- 11:50Aren't we thankful that he had the baptism of fire?
- 11:53Aren't we thankful that he went to the cross willingly?
- 11:57Aren't we thankful that he is our all sufficient sacrifice?
- 12:01And when we look back at all these rules and all these laws
- 12:04and all of these parameters and the guardrails that God put up
- 12:08for the sacrifice of the meat offering, the wave offering, the
- 12:12heave offering, you can see here that Jesus Christ is our all
- 12:17sufficient sacrifice. He went to the cross willingly.
- 12:21He laid down his life so that you and I can have abundant
- 12:24life. And so much of this is foreign
- 12:27to our modern minds where we just go through our life.
- 12:31We pick up our Bible every once in a while, we go to church on
- 12:35Sundays, we dress up nice. And it is foreign to us to think
- 12:39about the Israelites here in the wilderness.
- 12:42It is foreign for us to think about the early church and how
- 12:46they operated. It's foreign for us to think
- 12:48about a Jewish man who is the Messiah, who is the anointed 1,
- 12:54the savior of the world. We are so completely wrapped up
- 12:58in cultural Christianity. But we must get back to the
- 13:02basics where we see that all of these sacrifices were all
- 13:06pointing to the culmination of Calvary.
- 13:09And that is why we celebrate Calvary to the degree that we
- 13:12do, because we're not held to these same rules and standards
- 13:17and bylaws and laws. We have freedom, friends, and
- 13:20who the sunsets free is free indeed.
- 13:23And so that is what we celebrate.
- 13:25But you need to know that back in this time God was wanting
- 13:28them to understand their need for Christ.
- 13:31And now we look back at Christ and we must see our need for Him
- 13:35too. And there's coming a time and a
- 13:37day in the Ezekiel temple during the Millennium rule and reign of
- 13:41Christ on this earth that all of the sacrifices are going to be
- 13:45reinstituted. Friends, what an amazing
- 13:48thought. You can see, see that God wants
- 13:50us to lock in, wants us to understand that Jesus is Lord.
- 13:55And I hope you've been blessed by this amazing chapter in God's
- 13:58Word. I know I sure have.
- 14:00I'm praying for every single one of you.
- 14:02I love you. We'll see you back here
- 14:03tomorrow. God bless you.
