- 0:01Speaker 1: You're listening to Hawk Talk with former Seahawks wide receiver
- 0:04Speaker 1: Michael Bumpus.
- 0:05Speaker 2: Play fake, go to roll right, jumps it off into
- 0:07Speaker 2: the right flask to Michael Bumpers, who bounce us off
- 0:09Speaker 2: a one tackler gets inside the forty down of the
- 0:12Speaker 2: thirty five yard line.
- 0:13Speaker 1: Powered by Seahawks dot Com.
- 0:15Speaker 2: Matt pumpfake's looking at the gold line. He throws it
- 0:17Speaker 2: into the end zone.
- 0:18Speaker 3: Touchdown.
- 0:19Speaker 1: Say Hawks, it's Michael Thumpers with a diving catching the
- 0:23Speaker 1: end zone.
- 0:23Speaker 2: A ten yard touchdown reception for Bumpus, and the kid
- 0:27Speaker 2: out of Washington State has found himself a place.
- 0:30Speaker 3: On this team.
- 0:31Speaker 1: Now, here's your host, NASA Chobe.
- 0:34Speaker 4: Welcome into another edition of Hawk Talk. Michael Bumpas NASA
- 0:37Speaker 4: Chobe here with you the Seahawks flying high. Three in oh,
- 0:41Speaker 4: Michael Bumpus, three and oh feeling good? Feeling good?
- 0:43Speaker 3: Yes, sir? Three and oh a.
- 0:45Speaker 5: Before we start, y'all, I'm congested a bit, okay, so
- 0:47Speaker 5: my voice sounds a little different. I got my te
- 0:50Speaker 5: right here next to me doing it right, and I'm
- 0:52Speaker 5: about to have a Jordan flu game on you.
- 0:54Speaker 3: So let's go.
- 0:54Speaker 4: Let's cause you work so hard man, you out there
- 0:56Speaker 4: doing Pac twelve, you have to doing Seahawks pre game
- 0:59Speaker 4: bumpa stay he show talking Kove's.
- 1:01Speaker 3: No, I'm just I got kids. They're expensive.
- 1:05Speaker 4: They are expensive. I haven't found that out yet, but
- 1:08Speaker 4: I'm going to. I'm learning now what Yeah, but it's
- 1:11Speaker 4: cheaper now, Yeah, it's cheaper now. We'll get there. We'll
- 1:13Speaker 4: get there anyway. Seahawks going back to take on the
- 1:16Speaker 4: Detroit Lions. That's what's on tap.
- 1:22Speaker 1: What's on tap.
- 1:24Speaker 4: But these aren't your dad's Lions, if that makes any sense.
- 1:27Speaker 3: And my dad is a Lions fan. Really, that's fun,
- 1:30Speaker 3: that's connective.
- 1:32Speaker 4: Well, in no disrespect to Big Gray Roberts either, Yeah,
- 1:34Speaker 4: because obviously he blocked for the one of the best
- 1:37Speaker 4: running backs to ever do it in Barry Sanders. They
- 1:39Speaker 4: have some good years there. But these Detroit Lions are different,
- 1:43Speaker 4: right man. Dan Campbell has done a great job taking
- 1:45Speaker 4: the Lions essentially out of the basement right in just
- 1:48Speaker 4: three short years, went from three to thirteen and one
- 1:52Speaker 4: to nine and eight to twelve and five, and honestly
- 1:54Speaker 4: should have been in the Super Bowl last year. They
- 1:56Speaker 4: should have beat the forty nine ers. In my humble opinion.
- 1:59Speaker 4: That's the game that we watch. Either way, this team
- 2:01Speaker 4: is here and they're on the map so far they
- 2:03Speaker 4: started this year. They are two and one, second place
- 2:05Speaker 4: in the AFC North with wins over the Rams, lost
- 2:08Speaker 4: to the Buccaneers and beat the Arizona Cardinals last Sunday.
- 2:11Speaker 4: Bump talking about that game, Jerry Goff, Boy, he came
- 2:15Speaker 4: out firing.
- 2:16Speaker 5: Yeah, he was read to go fourteen, first fourteen, yeahcio
- 2:20Speaker 5: first fourteen before they had in completion did They jump
- 2:23Speaker 5: out to a twenty to seven lead in the second quarter,
- 2:25Speaker 5: and I held on for a seven point victory. The
- 2:28Speaker 5: Lions got a huge break in their final possession of
- 2:30Speaker 5: the first half when Golf appeared to.
- 2:31Speaker 3: Throw a pick six, but officials rule.
- 2:33Speaker 5: To play had been whistled dead just before the snap
- 2:36Speaker 5: of a two minute warning.
- 2:38Speaker 3: You lucky son of a gun.
- 2:40Speaker 4: Yeah, man, we were watching that because we came home
- 2:42Speaker 4: from the post game show and watching down Sports Center.
- 2:44Speaker 4: I said, oh no, you can't do that to them.
- 2:46Speaker 4: I'd be hot as a defensive coordinator either way. The
- 2:49Speaker 4: Lions take advantage driving down the field with scoring a
- 2:51Speaker 4: hooking ladder play shades of Chris Peterson Boise State anytime
- 2:54Speaker 4: I see that executed bomb, that's all I can think about.
- 2:57Speaker 5: What is it two thousand and three? I think it
- 2:58Speaker 5: was a three? Later thinks about six oh six.
- 3:01Speaker 4: Okay, because Homie composed to the life right after at
- 3:04Speaker 4: the end of the game, blank on the running backs name.
- 3:06Speaker 4: It'll come back to me anyway, perfectly execute a play.
- 3:10Speaker 4: Then in the second half, the Lions would be held scoreless,
- 3:13Speaker 4: but the Cardinals would only get three points and the
- 3:15Speaker 4: Lions would lock up the road victory. Arizona had multiple
- 3:18Speaker 4: chances to cut into Detroit's lead in the third quarter,
- 3:20Speaker 4: but couldn't convert on critical plays. Murray throws a pick.
- 3:23Speaker 4: Cardinals will stop twice on downs, so tough day for them.
- 3:27Speaker 4: But you know Jerry goff in OKDA eighteen to twenty
- 3:30Speaker 4: three hundred and ninety nine yards, two touchdowns, one interception.
- 3:33Speaker 4: Montgomery led all rushers with one hundred and five yards
- 3:35Speaker 4: on twenty three carries in one touchdown. And then for
- 3:39Speaker 4: the Cardinals, Murray twenty one of thirty four two hundred
- 3:41Speaker 4: and seven yards, one touchdown, one interception, also rush for
- 3:44Speaker 4: forty five yards, and the rookie Marvin Harrison five receptions
- 3:47Speaker 4: sixty four yards one touchdown, So not as good as
- 3:49Speaker 4: the week before, but definitely some decent things still happening
- 3:52Speaker 4: for the Cardinals, because as we know, they're decent football
- 3:55Speaker 4: team this year. But the Lions took care of business.
- 3:56Speaker 3: On the road.
- 3:57Speaker 5: Yeah they did, Man, And you know, Marve Harrison, you
- 3:59Speaker 5: can't all always have four catches, one thirty and two
- 4:02Speaker 5: touchdowns in the first quarter. You know you're gonna have
- 4:05Speaker 5: to hit the brakes a little bit, but he's gonna
- 4:07Speaker 5: be on his way. Let's look at this head to
- 4:09Speaker 5: head matchup, Man, the Hawks are three to zero, Lions
- 4:11Speaker 5: two and one. When it comes to offenses, the Lions
- 4:13Speaker 5: have the fourth rank offense, the fourth running attack, and
- 4:15Speaker 5: seventh through the airwall sixteenth. When it comes to scoring
- 4:18Speaker 5: points twenty points seventh for the Hawks offensively, the eighth
- 4:21Speaker 5: rank offense, twenty seventh on the ground, three passing, and
- 4:24Speaker 5: tied for ninth. When it comes to scoring points, they're
- 4:26Speaker 5: putting up fourteen or see me, twenty four point three
- 4:28Speaker 5: points per game defense.
- 4:30Speaker 4: Look it, let's go look at here.
- 4:33Speaker 3: The Seahawks are second overall. Yes I can't. I can't
- 4:39Speaker 3: tell you what that does for my soul.
- 4:41Speaker 5: Second overall fifteenth against the run, first against the pass, fourth.
- 4:44Speaker 3: When it comes to points allowed.
- 4:45Speaker 5: On the other side, the Lions are tenth overall, fourth
- 4:48Speaker 5: against the run, nineteenth against the pass, and ninth overall
- 4:51Speaker 5: when it comes to giving a points.
- 4:52Speaker 3: One thing the Lions do well. They do a lot
- 4:54Speaker 3: of things well, but they possessed the football. They hold
- 4:57Speaker 3: on to the rock. They will grind out long drives.
- 5:00Speaker 5: They average about thirty two minutes per game when it
- 5:02Speaker 5: comes to hold onto the rock. And yeah, man, this
- 5:05Speaker 5: is uh okay. So now it's starting to get a
- 5:07Speaker 5: little real when it comes to success. Right, helly, I
- 5:09Speaker 5: we're three games in, all right, I said, way three
- 5:11Speaker 5: to four. But when I see that number two next
- 5:14Speaker 5: to that total defense for the Seahawks, I just big
- 5:16Speaker 5: us Mike McDonald and the gang say, I don't care
- 5:18Speaker 5: who you played, okay, because that's what people are gonna say.
- 5:20Speaker 3: Well, they didn't play.
- 5:21Speaker 5: This, so what that's to line up and played the
- 5:23Speaker 5: football game and they look good so far.
- 5:25Speaker 4: Well, what I love about this is exactly what we
- 5:28Speaker 4: were promised. If you're a Seahawks fan, all you heard
- 5:30Speaker 4: about was Mike McDonald, how smart he was, and he
- 5:33Speaker 4: is delivered on every single thing. When you come out
- 5:36Speaker 4: number two defensive, verall number one against the past. I
- 5:38Speaker 4: just love what we're seeing from a scheme standpoint, how
- 5:41Speaker 4: they're executing, how guys are flying around to the football.
- 5:43Speaker 4: So you'll love to see it. But that is why
- 5:45Speaker 4: they play the game. So we'll definitely see how those
- 5:47Speaker 4: numbers look going in the next week. But before we
- 5:49Speaker 4: do that, we got to know the history. No your history,
- 5:54Speaker 4: and there's been a lot of recent history with these
- 5:57Speaker 4: Detroit Lions. Seahawks lead the all time series thirteen to
- 6:00Speaker 4: five and what we're dubbing it as the Ray Roberts
- 6:03Speaker 4: Bowl shout out to Big R Big right, so one
- 6:06Speaker 4: to no. Including the postseason, the Seahawks have dominated as
- 6:08Speaker 4: of late though, winning the last six matchups, and the
- 6:11Speaker 4: Hawks have also won the last three games in Detroit,
- 6:14Speaker 4: including the last two games. And bump, when I think
- 6:18Speaker 4: about this matchup, obviously, last two years they've been shootouts,
- 6:21Speaker 4: they've been bar burners. I don't think that's going to
- 6:24Speaker 4: be it this year. I think it's gonna be a
- 6:25Speaker 4: lot more defensive minded. But anyway, last year, Seahawks win
- 6:28Speaker 4: an overtime thrill at Ford Field, and like I said
- 6:32Speaker 4: the last two matchups offensively points were put up. In
- 6:35Speaker 4: those two games, both teams combined for one hundred and
- 6:37Speaker 4: sixty one points, which is a lot. Last year's matchup
- 6:40Speaker 4: back and forth contest, Seahawks taken a ten point lead
- 6:43Speaker 4: in the fourth quarter after a pick six by Trey Brown.
- 6:46Speaker 4: That lead would go away with the Lions scoring ten
- 6:48Speaker 4: fourth quarter points and kicking the game tying field goal
- 6:50Speaker 4: at the end of regulation in overtime. Gino Smith, though,
- 6:53Speaker 4: does what Gino does, led the Seahawks on a game
- 6:55Speaker 4: winning drive nine plays seventy five yards, six yard touchdown
- 6:59Speaker 4: pass to Tige Lockett, also one of the greatest screen grabs.
- 7:02Speaker 4: If he'd been on Seahawk social media. Yeah, this week
- 7:04Speaker 4: in Detroit, we kind of showed back what happened last year,
- 7:06Speaker 4: and you see our girl Jen Mueller get some let's
- 7:09Speaker 4: go baby up there. Seahawks won that game.
- 7:10Speaker 3: You're joy. That's what life is about. That screenshot right there,
- 7:13Speaker 3: that's life. Love it.
- 7:15Speaker 1: Jen.
- 7:15Speaker 4: Gino finished the game thirty two to forty one, three
- 7:17Speaker 4: hundred and twenty eight yards, two touchdowns, zero interceptions, nine
- 7:21Speaker 4: receivers caught, passes Tyle Lockett two touchdowns, Canain also added
- 7:24Speaker 4: two touchdowns on the ground for the Lions. Golf had
- 7:27Speaker 4: a solid day twenty eight thirty five over three hundred yards,
- 7:30Speaker 4: three touchdowns.
- 7:31Speaker 3: You just called that a solid day. That's a good day.
- 7:34Speaker 4: It's a solid day.
- 7:34Speaker 1: You're right.
- 7:35Speaker 4: But at the end he of the pick six that
- 7:36Speaker 4: could have been a difference. No gospel ball. I know
- 7:38Speaker 4: that mon ros Saint Brown one hundred and two receiving yards,
- 7:41Speaker 4: Dave Montgomery sixty seven on the ground and right now,
- 7:44Speaker 4: like I said, giving out, the Seahawks are playing right now,
- 7:46Speaker 4: I do not think it'll be a shootout, but if
- 7:47Speaker 4: you don't come correct, it could be because they can
- 7:49Speaker 4: put up points.
- 7:50Speaker 5: Yeah, we know the Lions. Like you said, it ain't
- 7:52Speaker 5: the Lions. My dad grew up watching these are these
- 7:54Speaker 5: some different dudes. So yeah, I'm looking forward to it.
- 7:56Speaker 5: I hope it's not a shootout. I hope it's a
- 7:58Speaker 5: bit more controlled. But as long as you get to win,
- 8:01Speaker 5: who cares. All Right, let's get to what's the word
- 8:03Speaker 5: in the West.
- 8:08Speaker 2: And the Seahawks or the NFC West Champs again.
- 8:12Speaker 4: What's the word in the West? On HOWK Talk, We'll.
- 8:17Speaker 3: Look at the division.
- 8:18Speaker 5: Everybody one and two except for the boys. The Seattle
- 8:21Speaker 5: Seahawks three and zero at the top of the division.
- 8:24Speaker 5: They're head into Week four all by themselves when they
- 8:26Speaker 5: got a two game lead on.
- 8:28Speaker 3: The division, and it's about to get real.
- 8:31Speaker 5: Man, you're about to You're not reaching like the meat
- 8:33Speaker 5: and potatoes of the of the schedule, but this is
- 8:35Speaker 5: the first, like true test that you're going to game.
- 8:38Speaker 5: So let's see how they do. But let's focus on
- 8:40Speaker 5: what happened last week. The forty nine ers and the
- 8:42Speaker 5: Rams got after four nighters in the round, they played
- 8:44Speaker 5: a really good game this past Sunday. At the end
- 8:46Speaker 5: of the day, if you are a Seahawks fans, there
- 8:49Speaker 5: was not going to be a bad result, right either
- 8:51Speaker 5: team cal lose and you're good to go. The Rams
- 8:52Speaker 5: came into the game oh and two missing their best
- 8:55Speaker 5: two offensive weapons, got Cooper Cup, got Pooking the cool
- 8:58Speaker 5: and they also just got be by thirty one points
- 9:00Speaker 5: last week to the Arizona Cardinals. How were these guys
- 9:03Speaker 5: going to respond? And they did respond. They seem it
- 9:06Speaker 5: was going to be a runaway and the forty nine
- 9:08Speaker 5: Ers jumped out to a fourteen oh league in the
- 9:09Speaker 5: first quarter. Then the Rams will respond with a sixteen
- 9:12Speaker 5: play eighty seven yard drive in with a fifteen yard
- 9:15Speaker 5: touchdown to Kyvin Williams, making the score fourteen to seven
- 9:19Speaker 5: at halftime.
- 9:19Speaker 3: They said, we not giving up.
- 9:21Speaker 5: Both teams will trade touchdowns in the third quarter, and
- 9:23Speaker 5: the forty niners will kick a field goal early in
- 9:25Speaker 5: the four to regain a ten point lead twenty four
- 9:28Speaker 5: to ten. That's when the Rams said, We're done with
- 9:30Speaker 5: this madness. It's time to take over. They were scoring
- 9:33Speaker 5: three straight drives while stopping the forty nine ers on
- 9:35Speaker 5: their last three. The Rams out scored at the San
- 9:38Speaker 5: Francisco forty nine Ers twenty to three. In the final
- 9:40Speaker 5: twenty minutes of the game. The Rams set up the
- 9:43Speaker 5: game winning field goal with a thirty eight yard pump
- 9:45Speaker 5: return from Xavier Smith and passing fares call against Kobe Parkinson.
- 9:49Speaker 3: What up Kobe? We see baby? Then the Rams would force.
- 9:52Speaker 5: The forty nine Ers use all their timeouts, kicking the
- 9:54Speaker 5: game winning field goal with two seconds remaining. The Rams
- 9:58Speaker 5: also won their second straight against the forty nine. Man,
- 10:00Speaker 5: that's that's what's up, and that was after losing nine
- 10:03Speaker 5: of the past ten.
- 10:04Speaker 3: That's crazy.
- 10:04Speaker 5: Matthew Stafford sixteen to twenty five for twenty twenty one yards,
- 10:07Speaker 5: who one touchdown too to add well four receptions for
- 10:11Speaker 5: ninety three yards, and Kyen Williams had eighty nine yards
- 10:14Speaker 5: rushing in two touchdowns. For the forty nine ers, Rock
- 10:16Speaker 5: Party had a big day twenty two or thirty two,
- 10:19Speaker 5: ninety two and three touchdowns. Wan Jennings had a career
- 10:22Speaker 5: high level receptions for one seventy five and all three
- 10:25Speaker 5: forty nineers touchdown. You know what's crazy about the forty
- 10:27Speaker 5: nine ers. We're branding that, man, Brandy. We ain't making plays.
- 10:32Speaker 3: Man.
- 10:33Speaker 5: That's what hurts me is I go to bath for
- 10:34Speaker 5: these receivers, for him, for Ceedland, for Jamar, Jamar show
- 10:38Speaker 5: up last week. Then you go out and you look
- 10:40Speaker 5: like you should have been practicing. Oh dang it, there's
- 10:43Speaker 5: that coaching you coming out, coach book practicing, run your drills,
- 10:47Speaker 5: do with the team.
- 10:49Speaker 4: Well he was out there and this is that game
- 10:51Speaker 4: was crazy, man. I while it was obviously happening during
- 10:54Speaker 4: the Seahawks games, so we were keeping a close eye
- 10:55Speaker 4: on it, man. But it's really huge. Granted it's early
- 10:58Speaker 4: in the year. The Seahawks have to play the forty
- 11:00Speaker 4: nine or twice, the Rams twice still, but to have
- 11:03Speaker 4: a two game lead this early, Yeah, but Doeach McDonald
- 11:06Speaker 4: talks about stacking wins. That's exactly what the Seahawks are doing.
- 11:09Speaker 4: We hope that'll continue on Sunday when they welcome in
- 11:12Speaker 4: or actually when we go to Detroit. Excuse me, take
- 11:14Speaker 4: on these lines. Let's get into the matchups.
- 11:16Speaker 6: Man up this, man up on Hawk talk, starting with
- 11:28Speaker 6: the quarterbacks like we typically do.
- 11:29Speaker 4: Jared Goff take it on this Seahawks defense. Jared Goff
- 11:33Speaker 4: has had an interesting career and it's definitely ending pretty
- 11:36Speaker 4: well so far for him. Andrews his fourth season in Detroit,
- 11:39Speaker 4: which is crazy, and now has a Super Bowl type
- 11:41Speaker 4: expectations for the first time in Detroit golf. Coming off
- 11:44Speaker 4: the best season of his career since he went to
- 11:47Speaker 4: the Super Bowl with the Rams of twenty eighteen, and
- 11:49Speaker 4: Goff led an explosive offense of twenty twenty three. It
- 11:52Speaker 4: almost got his coordinator a head coaching job. The Lions
- 11:55Speaker 4: were third in the NFL on total yards, averaging three
- 11:57Speaker 4: ninety four, second best passing offense afaging two fifty eight
- 12:01Speaker 4: a game, and they're also fifteen points per game at
- 12:03Speaker 4: twenty seven point one. Last year, like I said, he
- 12:06Speaker 4: had a sixty seven percent completion percentage four five hundred
- 12:09Speaker 4: and seventy five yards, thirty touchdowns, twelve picks and those
- 12:13Speaker 4: were carew highs and completions and completion percentage. So far
- 12:16Speaker 4: this year, goth isn't necessarily lighting the world on fire.
- 12:19Speaker 4: He's seventy for one hundred and six or sixty six
- 12:22Speaker 4: percent completion percentage, seven hundred and twenty three yards, three touchdowns,
- 12:25Speaker 4: but four interceptions and could have had five. Last week,
- 12:29Speaker 4: GoF was eighteen of twenty three one to ninety nine,
- 12:31Speaker 4: two touchdowns, one pick against the Cardinals. So overall, though,
- 12:35Speaker 4: we know, the Lions have the fourth ranked offense in
- 12:37Speaker 4: the NFL, averaging three hundred and ninety nine yards like
- 12:39Speaker 4: game in the seventh ranked pass offense. But he's found
- 12:43Speaker 4: a home in Detroit.
- 12:44Speaker 3: Man, Yeah, he's there. He got like two homes there now.
- 12:47Speaker 4: Oh, and it just looked like the city's embraced him.
- 12:49Speaker 2: Man.
- 12:49Speaker 4: We talked about this a couple of podcasts ago or
- 12:51Speaker 4: even Matthew Stafford, who was there for way longer, was
- 12:54Speaker 4: getting booed. And now everyone's chanting golf like the city
- 12:57Speaker 4: is embracing him.
- 12:58Speaker 5: Maybe messed up. Think give Matthew Stafford a lot to
- 13:01Speaker 5: work with. They've got everything. Yeah, I mean, run.
- 13:05Speaker 3: Game, a tight end, a coach who loves him. It's beautiful.
- 13:08Speaker 4: Over time, time heals all wounds. I get it. If
- 13:10Speaker 4: you're a Detroit fan, I guess you're saying, hey, you
- 13:12Speaker 4: left us, you didn't have to chase in a ring.
- 13:14Speaker 4: He got his rings had for from there. Either way,
- 13:16Speaker 4: time he's all lounds. I'm sure he'll be in their
- 13:18Speaker 4: version of Ring of Honor and all that, and I
- 13:20Speaker 4: think he has Yeah. I mean, who what quarterback even
- 13:25Speaker 4: is Charlie Batch? Charlie Batch anyway, anyway, back on track.
- 13:30Speaker 4: What I'm trying to say, though, is that Gough has
- 13:32Speaker 4: a home in Detroit and he's been balling out and
- 13:36Speaker 4: I think it's it's good for him there. But he's
- 13:38Speaker 4: going to be with a big without a big weapon
- 13:40Speaker 4: this week. Starting center Frank Ragnow is going to be
- 13:43Speaker 4: out because of partial torn peck, and initially Campbell is
- 13:47Speaker 4: like he's going to try to play through it. I said,
- 13:48Speaker 4: if that man plays through, he's the toughest dude I've
- 13:50Speaker 4: ever seen. But you know, if you're going to do that,
- 13:53Speaker 4: then I think we'd have a field day defensively. But
- 13:56Speaker 4: long story short, Gough is a baller. He he's found
- 13:59Speaker 4: it in Detroit and he's definitely not the golf that
- 14:03Speaker 4: we used to hear about in LA where it was like, Oh,
- 14:05Speaker 4: Joshan McVay this and that. Golf is a good football
- 14:08Speaker 4: player and he's definitely the toughest task the Seahawks have
- 14:11Speaker 4: had all season, and it's not close.
- 14:13Speaker 5: Yeah, Jared goff Man, I remember a couple years ago
- 14:15Speaker 5: I was comparing Gino and golf like they're kind of
- 14:17Speaker 5: like the same type of quarterback and both have gotten
- 14:20Speaker 5: better and better every single year.
- 14:21Speaker 3: So big up to Jared golf Man.
- 14:22Speaker 5: I'm glad you're doing well, but I hope you don't
- 14:24Speaker 5: On Monday, Let's talk about our quarterback Geno Smith against
- 14:28Speaker 5: this Lions defense. He's had a great start Geno Smith
- 14:30Speaker 5: to the start of the twenty twenty four season. Through
- 14:33Speaker 5: three weeks, he ranks third and passing yards, thirty completions,
- 14:37Speaker 5: excuse me, thirty completes of percentage, first in completions, ninth
- 14:40Speaker 5: in QB are, and thirteenth in QB ragining. This is
- 14:44Speaker 5: a fantastic start for Geno. The old negative thing about
- 14:47Speaker 5: Geno this year is the interceptions, right, he has three
- 14:50Speaker 5: on the season, and their suspect.
- 14:53Speaker 4: Every one of them. There also, you could argue or
- 14:55Speaker 4: not even close to his fault.
- 14:56Speaker 5: You can say, oh you guys, are you guys work
- 14:58Speaker 5: for the Seahawks. Listen, we keep it okay, Yeah, they're
- 15:01Speaker 5: all suspect. Just watch the film they'll let you know.
- 15:04Speaker 5: But on the season he's seventy seven to one O
- 15:06Speaker 5: three for seven hundred and eighty seven yards, three touchdowns
- 15:09Speaker 5: and three JK interceptions. Like we just mentioned, the Lions
- 15:11Speaker 5: defense ranks tenth in total defense, nineteenth against the past
- 15:15Speaker 5: and add any insults to injury.
- 15:17Speaker 3: The Lion's defense will be without some key players.
- 15:19Speaker 5: You got veteran into Marcus Davenport is going to be
- 15:22Speaker 5: off for the season with an elbow injury. Linebacker Darrick
- 15:25Speaker 5: Barnes is out indefinitely with a knee injury. Both starters
- 15:28Speaker 5: on defense. Man, it's listen, this NFL guys are banged up.
- 15:32Speaker 5: The Hawks ain't healthy, Lions ain't healthy. Show up with
- 15:34Speaker 5: who you got and get it done.
- 15:36Speaker 4: Yeah, there's no excuse, man, it is what it is.
- 15:38Speaker 4: Especially you're a football player. You've known this after the
- 15:42Speaker 4: first day of camp.
- 15:43Speaker 3: Nobody healthy.
- 15:44Speaker 4: You're not healthy again, whether it's a conditioning test, living.
- 15:48Speaker 3: You know, there's someone in soalthy who's at Myers. I
- 15:51Speaker 3: bet his body feels good.
- 15:53Speaker 4: Yeah, no, you're right. He takes care of himself. I'm
- 15:56Speaker 4: sure Dixon is doing okay. Yeah, you know what I'm saying.
- 15:59Speaker 4: Let's keep going through these matchups. Running backs, Man, the
- 16:02Speaker 4: Lions have a two headed monster at running back, David
- 16:04Speaker 4: Montgomery Jamior Gibbs. Against the Seahawks front seven. Montgomery and
- 16:09Speaker 4: Gibbs led the Lions to the fifth best rushing attack
- 16:11Speaker 4: in the NFL at one hundred and thirty five yards
- 16:13Speaker 4: per game. Last season, Montgomery had his best year of
- 16:16Speaker 4: his career, went over one thousand yards for a second time,
- 16:18Speaker 4: and sent a career high with thirteen touchdowns last year
- 16:21Speaker 4: one hundred and one thousand, fifteen yards thirteen touchdowns in
- 16:24Speaker 4: just fourteen games. Then you had Gibbs, Man, he was
- 16:27Speaker 4: the first round pick at Alabama, had a lot of
- 16:29Speaker 4: people questioning why they would take a running back in
- 16:32Speaker 4: the first round. I think it was twelfth overall, and
- 16:35Speaker 4: he kind of shut the haters up. He had one
- 16:36Speaker 4: hundred and eight two carries, nine hundred and forty five yards,
- 16:38Speaker 4: ten touchdowns, fifty two receptions for three hundred and sixteen
- 16:41Speaker 4: yards in one touchdown last year. So far this season,
- 16:44Speaker 4: this dynamic dual has not skipped to beat Lions. Fourth
- 16:47Speaker 4: in the NFL and rushing averaging one hundred and sixty
- 16:49Speaker 4: three yards per game. Montgomery on the year fifty one
- 16:52Speaker 4: carries two hundred and thirty one yards, three touchdowns, Gibbs
- 16:55Speaker 4: forty carries two hundred and seven yards, one touchdown, and
- 16:58Speaker 4: eleven receptions for seventy six and no ton. The one
- 17:01Speaker 4: area you could say the Seahawks have struggled a little
- 17:03Speaker 4: bit really only during that Patriots game was in the
- 17:06Speaker 4: run defense. They gave one hundred and eighty five yards
- 17:08Speaker 4: to the Patriots, but rebounded really well last week against
- 17:10Speaker 4: the Dolphins, allowing just sixty five yards. Through three games,
- 17:14Speaker 4: the Hawks are allowing one hundred and sixty one hundred
- 17:16Speaker 4: and sixteen yards on the game, which is fifteenth in
- 17:18Speaker 4: the NFL. If the Seahawks can make them one dimensional,
- 17:21Speaker 4: that's where they win this football game.
- 17:23Speaker 3: Yeah, buddy, definitely that one too.
- 17:25Speaker 5: Combo was vicious and you have to respect it. It's
- 17:28Speaker 5: crazy we're saying Mike Jeri GoF throw the football because
- 17:31Speaker 5: we know who he has on the outside. Let's talk
- 17:33Speaker 5: about him A Monroe Saint Brown, Jamison Williams, and Sam
- 17:37Speaker 5: Lavenport are porter. Why Lavenport I was saying Lamport, Sam
- 17:41Speaker 5: Laparter put some respect on that man's name. One of
- 17:43Speaker 5: the best tight ends in the game. Monroe Saint Bound
- 17:45Speaker 5: was one of the underrated receivers in the NFL, but
- 17:48Speaker 5: he he did his thing last season and he got
- 17:50Speaker 5: paid for He's been featured on the Netflix show Receiver,
- 17:54Speaker 5: which I've watched, my kids watch.
- 17:55Speaker 3: My daughter actually watched it and got into it.
- 17:58Speaker 5: That's what some He made it to a second consecutive
- 18:00Speaker 5: Pro Bowl and was voted First team All Pro in
- 18:04Speaker 5: twenty twenty three and one.
- 18:05Speaker 3: Rossa.
- 18:06Speaker 5: Brown had one hundred nineteen receptions, fifteen hundred yards, ten touchdowns.
- 18:10Speaker 5: Goodness gracious, he's among the elite in the NFL man
- 18:14Speaker 5: when it comes to receiver, and he's a smaller guy,
- 18:16Speaker 5: so big ups to those under six footers. The two
- 18:18Speaker 5: games played versus Seahawks, he has fourteen receptions two in
- 18:20Speaker 5: to thirteen yards in one touchdown. Had the skipped to
- 18:23Speaker 5: beat this year twenty one receptions twenty seven yards, one touchdown.
- 18:27Speaker 5: Alongside of them, he had Jamison Williams. Williams looking to
- 18:30Speaker 5: have a much better impact a year three. He played
- 18:32Speaker 5: in just eighteen games in his first two years, with
- 18:35Speaker 5: three hundred and ninety five reception yards in three touchdowns.
- 18:38Speaker 5: So far this year, he's already reached half that number,
- 18:40Speaker 5: with two hundred and nine receiving yards on eleven receptions
- 18:43Speaker 5: in one touchdown. He's averaging nineteen yards per catch. Lastly,
- 18:47Speaker 5: not Laporta, I mean, not Lavinport. It's Sam Laporta, Okay,
- 18:51Speaker 5: out of Iowa. Iowa just put out them.
- 18:53Speaker 4: Dang tiny stand up at Iowa.
- 18:55Speaker 5: Goodness gracious the Porter man, if who you splash his
- 18:58Speaker 5: rookie season, he made the NFL All Ricky Team. Of
- 19:01Speaker 5: course last year eighty six receptions, eight hundred and eighty
- 19:04Speaker 5: nine yards, ten touchdowns. His eighty six receptions were fourth
- 19:07Speaker 5: in the NFL amongst tight ends.
- 19:09Speaker 3: His brother from Iowa's probably above him.
- 19:11Speaker 5: We're talking George Kittle, right, I would assume George could
- 19:14Speaker 5: have more receptions than him.
- 19:15Speaker 4: I think so. Kit.
- 19:16Speaker 3: They have so many dudes, dang fan two goodness gracious.
- 19:19Speaker 5: The three games in twenty twenty four, he has eight
- 19:22Speaker 5: receptions for ninety four yards and the win over the Cardinals.
- 19:25Speaker 5: The Porter suffered a low ankle spring, which was good
- 19:28Speaker 5: news considering that he got carted off.
- 19:29Speaker 3: It seemed worse than that.
- 19:30Speaker 4: Yeah, it seems like it season nning.
- 19:31Speaker 5: Yeah, I thought it was broken. It was all bad,
- 19:33Speaker 5: But it seems like he's gonna be okay. Something you
- 19:36Speaker 5: gotta watch on Monday Night football though, So we'll see.
- 19:38Speaker 3: Man, they got weapons.
- 19:39Speaker 5: Two receivers, a good a good tight end topping the game,
- 19:42Speaker 5: two running backs in the backfield.
- 19:44Speaker 3: Goodness gracious, But we got some weapons too.
- 19:46Speaker 4: Yeah, no, for sure. And I think with the Porter,
- 19:48Speaker 4: if he's not playing, that'll definitely help things out for
- 19:50Speaker 4: the Seahawks defensively because he's just another weapon. He hasn't
- 19:53Speaker 4: gone crazy this year, but he has guys, and I
- 19:55Speaker 4: say he Jared goffis guys to throw the football too. Yep,
- 19:58Speaker 4: but so does Genus Smith. Yes, DK metcalf title Lockett
- 20:01Speaker 4: JSN taking on this line secondary and another week, another
- 20:05Speaker 4: dominant performance by a Seahawks receiver DK last week against Miami,
- 20:09Speaker 4: ten receptions, one hundred and twenty nine yards, one touchdown,
- 20:13Speaker 4: back to back one hundred yard games, first time he's
- 20:15Speaker 4: done that since Week three and four of the twenty
- 20:18Speaker 4: twenty season. Bump. This is also the fourteenth career one
- 20:21Speaker 4: hundred yard game for DK, and he had that seventy
- 20:24Speaker 4: one yard touchdown that was the third longest of his career.
- 20:27Speaker 4: Now has seven touchdowns with more than fifty yards. And
- 20:31Speaker 4: this is crazy. This stat is the biggest one for me.
- 20:33Speaker 4: I couldn't believe this is true. He needs one hundred
- 20:35Speaker 4: yards Monday to become the first player in franchise history
- 20:38Speaker 4: to record three consecutive one hundred yard games. What I
- 20:41Speaker 4: saw that, go, that's not true.
- 20:42Speaker 3: Margin an't do that.
- 20:43Speaker 4: That's what I thought large ending. I thought DK's probably
- 20:45Speaker 4: alreadyated at the Lockett. Yeah, Doug Baldwin, Sidney Rice, Darryl Jackson,
- 20:50Speaker 4: Brian Blades. There's been some really good dudes play receiver here,
- 20:54Speaker 4: So that's shocking to me. So hopefully DK can keep
- 20:56Speaker 4: that going and break some records on Sunday. On the year,
- 20:59Speaker 4: he's got seventeen orcs, two hundred and sixty two yards,
- 21:01Speaker 4: two touchdowns. Jsen his receiver mate seventeen receptions one hundred
- 21:06Speaker 4: and seventy five yards and t Lock thirteen receptions one
- 21:09Speaker 4: thirty eight. Now this town, did you know South of
- 21:12Speaker 4: the Seahawks be the third ranked passing attack in the
- 21:15Speaker 4: National Football League at two hundred forty six yards per game.
- 21:18Speaker 4: But they're taking on pretty good secondary bomb when you
- 21:21Speaker 4: look at it, and kind of beyond some of the
- 21:23Speaker 4: basic stats. But they got Terry on Arnold, who was
- 21:26Speaker 4: the first round pick, number twenty fourth overall from Alabama.
- 21:29Speaker 4: He was a first team All American while he's at
- 21:31Speaker 4: Alabama and you know, all sec all those things, so
- 21:33Speaker 4: you know he can play. Then you got a veteran quarterback,
- 21:36Speaker 4: former Super Bowl champion, Carlton Davis. He joined them after
- 21:40Speaker 4: spending six years in Tampa. In seventy five starts, he's
- 21:43Speaker 4: got three hundred, twenty tackles, seventy three pass defense in
- 21:46Speaker 4: twelve TFLs, nine interceptions, bunch of fumble recoveries, and he's
- 21:50Speaker 4: really impressed, as head coach Dan Campbell said, really impressed
- 21:53Speaker 4: out he's played this year. Sticky and coverage, physical in
- 21:56Speaker 4: the run game, and you know those guys have kind
- 21:59Speaker 4: of set a tone to sively bumped in that secondary
- 22:01Speaker 4: a little bit. And there's a couple more stats, Bump.
- 22:04Speaker 4: I'm gonna let you take these because I'm kind of
- 22:07Speaker 4: surprised how well their secondary is played.
- 22:10Speaker 5: Yeah, Detroit has as many interceptions three as passing touchdowns
- 22:14Speaker 5: allow through the first three weeks of the season, and
- 22:17Speaker 5: opposing quarterbacks having eighty three point eight passer rating against
- 22:21Speaker 5: the Lions this season, which rings tenth in the NFL.
- 22:24Speaker 5: Not only do the Lions have the tenth best passer
- 22:26Speaker 5: rating against this season, but after struggling so much last
- 22:30Speaker 5: season defending the deep passing game, Detroits allowed just two
- 22:33Speaker 5: completions on passes that travel at least twenty.
- 22:36Speaker 3: One yards in the air through three games.
- 22:37Speaker 5: Ridiculous opponents are two four eleven for forty nine yards,
- 22:43Speaker 5: with no touchdowns, one interception and a seven point eight
- 22:46Speaker 5: passer rating on those passes. Well, you know what you
- 22:50Speaker 5: ain't seeing, fourteen. Yes, you eighteen as seven do with things.
- 22:54Speaker 5: So that looks good and good for you, Detroit. I'm
- 22:56Speaker 5: happy you've done well, but you're gonna see fourteen do
- 22:59Speaker 5: a thing, oh.
- 23:00Speaker 4: No, without question. So it'll be a fun matchup. Like
- 23:03Speaker 4: I said, they have a good secondary. They're playing good football.
- 23:05Speaker 4: The same way that people have questioned whether what the
- 23:07Speaker 4: Seahawks have done is real is the same way we're
- 23:10Speaker 4: questioning what their defense is doing. So it'll be fun
- 23:12Speaker 4: to see that. And then you got the one matchup.
- 23:15Speaker 4: Of course, we've gone this long surprisingly without mentioning his name,
- 23:17Speaker 4: and that is Aiden Hutchinson versus everbody, erbody, everyone.
- 23:22Speaker 5: Man, you gotta help, you gotta help, you gottatach it,
- 23:24Speaker 5: tight end, you gotta chip block him. He was the
- 23:26Speaker 5: number two pick in the twenty twenty two draft out
- 23:29Speaker 5: of Michigan.
- 23:31Speaker 3: He's a baller. His production is off the charts.
- 23:32Speaker 5: His rookie year, he had fifty two tackles, nine TfL,
- 23:35Speaker 5: fifteen quarterback hits, nine and a half sacks, and three interceptions.
- 23:39Speaker 5: He followed that up with a solid campaign during the
- 23:41Speaker 5: sophomore season, fifty one tackles, fourteen TFLs, thirty three QB hits,
- 23:45Speaker 5: eleven and a half sex, seven passes defended, in one
- 23:48Speaker 5: intercession that earned him his first trip to the Pro Bowl.
- 23:51Speaker 5: So far this season, Hutchinson has been active. He's already
- 23:54Speaker 5: got sixteen tackles, six and a half sacks, goodness, eleven
- 23:57Speaker 5: QB hits six TFLs.
- 24:00Speaker 3: Lily needs to know where nine seven is at all times.
- 24:03Speaker 4: Yeah, and you know the Seahawks again Stone for stythe
- 24:05Speaker 4: has been playing some good football and we're Hutching's kind
- 24:08Speaker 4: of lems up. He'll move around, but he's primarily going
- 24:11Speaker 4: to be rushing from the offensive right defensive left, So
- 24:13Speaker 4: it'll be a big task for this old line. You
- 24:16Speaker 4: talk about chipping whatever you gotta do tight ends. I
- 24:18Speaker 4: love that Pharall Brown is back, but he's a guy
- 24:20Speaker 4: that is good up front and doing anything you can
- 24:22Speaker 4: for ninety seven. And the one thing about Aiden Bump,
- 24:25Speaker 4: I'm sure you've seen this, and I know a lot
- 24:26Speaker 4: of people who are watching or listening to this podcasts
- 24:28Speaker 4: have seen. There's that one clip, viral clip of Aiden
- 24:31Speaker 4: back at Michigan. I think they're playing Ohio State. Yeah,
- 24:33Speaker 4: and he's calling his shot and he's essentially in the
- 24:35Speaker 4: tackle though, like you better bring it, and then he
- 24:37Speaker 4: proceeds to pancake him immediately.
- 24:39Speaker 3: That's so demoralizing.
- 24:40Speaker 4: Oh my goodness that you just has a motor dog.
- 24:42Speaker 3: Man. If I were I couldn't, I'm glad you know.
- 24:46Speaker 2: Uh.
- 24:46Speaker 5: Social media wasn't around back in my day because I'd
- 24:49Speaker 5: have to live relive some of those moments my kids
- 24:51Speaker 5: like why are you doing you like that? Like, hey,
- 24:53Speaker 5: I got mine two though, don't trip right, Hey aid Man,
- 24:56Speaker 5: he's a beast.
- 24:57Speaker 4: Yeah, No, Aiden Hutcheson in ninety seven is definitely a beast.
- 24:59Speaker 4: But for the Seahawks to win, there need to block him.
- 25:02Speaker 4: And we'll tell you how the other way. The Seahawks
- 25:04Speaker 4: are gonna win. Pat the victory.
- 25:07Speaker 2: After forty five waits for the snap, Michael Vickton puts
- 25:10Speaker 2: it down.
- 25:11Speaker 3: That kick is away.
- 25:12Speaker 4: If that kick.
- 25:13Speaker 3: Is gone, good day off win. It's gone.
- 25:17Speaker 1: It's a pass to victory.
- 25:18Speaker 4: On Hawk Talk, honestly, bomb this is the first real
- 25:21Speaker 4: measuring stick type of football game. And for me, I
- 25:25Speaker 4: think for the Seahawks, just still let the moment get
- 25:26Speaker 4: too big. It's prime time. You're gonna have half the
- 25:29Speaker 4: nation watching you, and just keep it simple what you've
- 25:32Speaker 4: been doing. And I don't think that's gonna be an
- 25:33Speaker 4: issue at all. It's just kind of something to say
- 25:35Speaker 4: because I know McDonald's gonna have this team ready to go.
- 25:39Speaker 4: I have all the confidence in the world and how
- 25:41Speaker 4: their preparation is going this week, and really, you know,
- 25:45Speaker 4: I'm hoping this year because I feel like last year
- 25:47Speaker 4: early in the season, when the Seahawks are getting ready
- 25:49Speaker 4: to play the Ravens, ironically coach McDonald's defense, it felt
- 25:53Speaker 4: kind of like a measuring stick type game too, right,
- 25:55Speaker 4: there were five and two. Everyone's kind of talking about it,
- 25:58Speaker 4: and we all know how that went.
- 26:00Speaker 3: Now the master for out to talk about it behind that.
- 26:03Speaker 4: Is on the good side now, So I'm very confident
- 26:05Speaker 4: what these guys are gonna do and make life hard
- 26:07Speaker 4: for Jared Goff. He's one of the best quarterbacks he
- 26:09Speaker 4: has to play this season already strowing four interceptions. He's
- 26:12Speaker 4: throwing two pick sixes each of the last two times
- 26:13Speaker 4: the Seahawks have played there. So make life tough on him.
- 26:16Speaker 4: Take away the football and think good things gonna happen.
- 26:18Speaker 3: Spoon got one of them? Did we get the other one? Now?
- 26:21Speaker 3: Reaking tray, reaking tray.
- 26:23Speaker 5: Okay, let's go all right, another thing you gotta do
- 26:26Speaker 5: a Monroel Saint brown man, he's the lead sybil As
- 26:28Speaker 5: that believe in it.
- 26:29Speaker 3: Drink the kool aid. Whatever he is good to go.
- 26:31Speaker 5: You have to make sure he does not go off,
- 26:33Speaker 5: and of course you have to stop the run. The
- 26:35Speaker 5: Lions have the fourth best rushing attack in the NFL.
- 26:38Speaker 5: They got Montgomery, they got Gibbs. They will pack it in,
- 26:41Speaker 5: bringing another lineman, two tight ends. Let you know, this
- 26:44Speaker 5: is a run formation. We're running the football. What are
- 26:48Speaker 5: you gonna do about it? So you gotta be able
- 26:50Speaker 5: to stop the run and then build off of what
- 26:52Speaker 5: you did last week. You at that one to eighty
- 26:54Speaker 5: five performance by New England last week, he shore some
- 26:57Speaker 5: things up. You were good in the red zone. You
- 26:59Speaker 5: only allow three points, which is I don't care who
- 27:01Speaker 5: you're playing. That's amazing. Build off of what you did
- 27:03Speaker 5: last week.
- 27:04Speaker 4: Yeah, and you have those three points when they got
- 27:05Speaker 4: the ball the five yard line.
- 27:06Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 27:07Speaker 4: So yeah, this defense is balling out doing what they
- 27:09Speaker 4: gotta do, and offensively, bump, strike early and often when
- 27:12Speaker 4: you play with a lead, it is wild how good
- 27:15Speaker 4: and how everything defensively is open to you when you're
- 27:18Speaker 4: playing from the lead and you're making them one dimensional.
- 27:20Speaker 4: Coach McDonald want to get that done. Last week they did.
- 27:22Speaker 4: They went up seventeen to three, and then it was
- 27:24Speaker 4: a completely different ballgame for the Dolphins. So let's keep
- 27:26Speaker 4: that going and then build off of last week, like
- 27:28Speaker 4: we continue to talk about run the football, grind them down.
- 27:32Speaker 4: They're pretty damn good against the run, but they're banged
- 27:34Speaker 4: up right now. Davenport's gone, Barns are linebackers out, so
- 27:38Speaker 4: take advantage, get after them and grind them down.
- 27:40Speaker 3: There we go, man, grind it.
- 27:42Speaker 5: Hey, you get Deka the ball please, ll y'all do't
- 27:44Speaker 5: y'all don't like completions.
- 27:45Speaker 3: Deep, don't worry about it. Fourteen got you. Let's go
- 27:48Speaker 3: get it.
- 27:49Speaker 4: Yeah, man, I'm I'm really excited about this matchup in
- 27:51Speaker 4: primetime Monday night football, Seahawks going across the country to
- 27:55Speaker 4: take on the Detroit Lions. Now, we're gonna have you covered.
- 28:00Speaker 4: Seahawks prem show starts at two pm on your Seattle
- 28:03Speaker 4: stations in the Seahawks Radio network. Reminder, you can hear
- 28:06Speaker 4: this podcast everywhere we are on YouTube now look at
- 28:08Speaker 4: our faces. Can't wait to watch it. You watch it
- 28:10Speaker 4: on YouTube, Seahawks dot Com, Apple Podcast, Spotify, Series XM,
- 28:13Speaker 4: and more. We're really excited about this matchup. It's going
- 28:16Speaker 4: to be fun. The Seahawks have a huge matchup. I
- 28:18Speaker 4: think they're gonna get it done. We're hopefully talking to
- 28:20Speaker 4: you guys next week about a Seahawks victory on Monday
- 28:23Speaker 4: Night football. He's Michael Bumbas, I'm NASA Chobe. This has
- 28:26Speaker 4: been Hawk Talk.
