- 0:05I want to begin by asking you a question as we enter into this
- 0:08book, Leviticus perhaps, you've asked this question and maybe
- 0:12one day as we walk out in this life and Jesus called us to make
- 0:17disciples of all Nations and to baptize them in the name of the
- 0:21father, Son and the Holy Spirit, not just baptize people, but to
- 0:24teach them everything, I've taught you.
- 0:26That's what Jesus said. He didn't say that to pastors,
- 0:29he didn't say that. Evangelist.
- 0:30He said that to every person that is a disciple of his that
- 0:33they were called to baptize people.
- 0:36And they were called to teach those that they have led to
- 0:40Christ or those that I know that are new in Christ, teach them
- 0:43everything that you've been taught and perhaps one day
- 0:46perhaps you know somebody or one day you will who will come to
- 0:50Christ or who is new in Christ. And as you've been taught that,
- 0:55if you want to grow, you are as real as you are concerning your
- 0:59quiet time with God, and meeting with him in prayer, meeting with
- 1:02him, in the word of God, you tell that to that person and
- 1:05they start in This then they come to Exodus, perhaps.
- 1:08They should have started in the New Testament, but they come to
- 1:10this book called Leviticus and they read through Leviticus and
- 1:15you get a phone call. And this person says to you
- 1:20brother, so-and-so sister. So and so I'm in this book
- 1:23called Leviticus and I've read through it.
- 1:28And I have a question for you. What should i as a Christian
- 1:34take out of this book? Because I see a lot of
- 1:37sacrifices and from what I understand up to this point
- 1:40we're not called to make any sacrifices and I see a lot of
- 1:43rituals and cleansing rules and I know that we're not called to
- 1:46do that either. And I see these Feast but I
- 1:49don't think from what I know that we're supposed to
- 1:52necessarily keep these Feast, but I believe the Bible is the
- 1:55word of God and I believe God put this Book in this big book,
- 2:00this Library called the Bible, what do I do with the Book of
- 2:04Leviticus and you're on the other end of that line?
- 2:09How do you answer? How do you answer?
- 2:13What do you tell that person how they can benefit from The Book
- 2:16of Leviticus? And one way you can answer is
- 2:23how you've benefited from The Book of Leviticus.
- 2:37Sacrifice of Jesus. And so, remember the cross and
- 2:40our lord Jesus, who died. Well, this is sort of showing us
- 2:44what the Jews because God used to do.
- 2:47They had to kill animals sacrificing and all this bloody
- 2:51process, which is looking forward to when our savior would
- 2:55die bloody death. So look at it as sort of a
- 2:58picture or a rat. Yeah, picture of what what does
- 3:02matter most to us. So I'm hearing you brother Tim
- 3:05on the phone. Oh, that makes sense.
- 3:07Okay, I never saw The Vedic is that way.
- 3:09Yes, sacrifice must be Bloodshed God uses that.
- 3:19Okay, so the idea of Bloodshed, the idea of atonement, the theme
- 3:22of atonement in The Book of Leviticus, okay?
- 3:25I didn't see that theme but now I see it.
- 3:26Thank you, brother, Isaac. Anybody else?
- 3:34The Holiness of God, if you're going to understand the Holiness
- 3:37of God in any book, it's going to be Leviticus.
- 3:40It's going to be Leviticus. Is there anything else I can
- 3:44benefit from Leviticus? The seriousness of sin in light
- 3:53of the Holiness of God, absolutely.
- 3:59Yes, so we're going to, we're going to know something about
- 4:07the character, the attributes of God.
- 4:09If there's one question you can ask yourself concerning any book
- 4:12that you tackle, in your personal time, ask yourself
- 4:14this. What is this reveal about God?
- 4:17What am I going to learn about God through this book?
- 4:19Even through all the laws and throw all the, what is it saying
- 4:22about who God is sure. Absolutely.
- 4:29Anything else from Leviticus? Why ask yourself how have you
- 4:34benefit from Leviticus? So we see the idea of
- 4:46unintentional sin, and there's a sacrifice for that.
- 4:50And so there's specific their specifics about which kind of
- 4:53sins are dealt with, in a certain way, in which are not.
- 4:56Yes, we're going to discover that.
- 5:00Book of Leviticus. Anything else from Leviticus?
- 5:10Well, we just concluded Exodus and from Exodus major part of
- 5:16this book. The second part rather is that
- 5:20God had given instructions to the people of God of where, they
- 5:24were to worship where they were to worship.
- 5:28He had given them the blueprint for the Tabernacle.
- 5:30And this was the localized place in which they would meet with
- 5:32God, where they were to worship. But the Book of Leviticus deals
- 5:36with not where they are to worship, but how they are to
- 5:39worship. And even if you remember from
- 5:42Exodus chapter 40, in the last scene that we see the last
- 5:45snapshot we get of that book is what from, from memory, what did
- 5:49we see last? Exodus before it closed.
- 5:55The glory of God filled the Tabernacle.
- 5:58The glory of God had descended and manifested in such power
- 6:02that Moses could not even enter into the tent.
- 6:05And it was a manifestation, a symbolic representation of God's
- 6:11approval and response to The Obedience of the people
- 6:14according to his rules and what Leviticus deals with is this one
- 6:19purpose? Do you want it to stay that way?
- 6:23Do you want the glory of God to remain in your life?
- 6:26Do you want my leading to be so real?
- 6:29Do you want my fellowship to be so tangible?
- 6:33And knowing human nature. What Leviticus deals with is?
- 6:36God already knows that. They're going to send God
- 6:39already knows that they're going to fall.
- 6:40And so he institute's these prescriptions to the people of
- 6:43God in order for them to know how to maintain fellowship with
- 6:49the Lord. That is what Leviticus is
- 6:51dealing with number one, how the people of God can relate to
- 6:56their God, that makes sense. All these laws, all these
- 6:59prescriptions relate to how the people can come to a place where
- 7:02they And walk with him day by day, step by step.
- 7:06And if there's a verse that can confirm that, it's Leviticus 11.
- 7:10The Lord Called Moses and spoke to him from the tent of meeting.
- 7:17So, it ended with the glory of God.
- 7:19Manifesting and from that place, God speaks and he says, this is
- 7:24how this thing is going to work out if you want my glory and you
- 7:29want close proximity with me. Let's lay out some ground rules
- 7:33and that's how you get the Book of Leviticus and it all has to
- 7:35do with every sacrifice. Every ritual cleansing, every
- 7:39role for the Priest deals with one purpose, brothers and
- 7:42sisters. What the people of God were to
- 7:45do to not drive him from the sanctuary.
- 7:50So Leviticus deals with one how the people were to relate to
- 7:52their God, but not just how to relate, but how the people of
- 7:56God were to represent. Their God.
- 7:59Not just relate, but how they were to represent their God.
- 8:03And so there is a Holiness code that is granted in The Book of
- 8:08Leviticus. And this is what we see more in
- 8:10the latter part of this book. That God gives these detailed
- 8:14instructions of how they, the people of Israel were to fulfill
- 8:18their call. What was their call?
- 8:20Was the call for the people of Israel as a nation to the world
- 8:22is anybody know? To be a kingdom of priests and a
- 8:28holy nation. Exodus 19:6 sounds familiar
- 8:32people of God. We just get a little bit more,
- 8:34were a royal priesthood, not just a priesthood. and so, in
- 8:39order for them to fulfill that call to be what A holy nation.
- 8:46And a kingdom of priests. They had to walk according to
- 8:50this rule. Why?
- 8:51Because they're still in the wilderness and God is preparing
- 8:54them. What is God preparing them for
- 8:55it to go into the land of Canaan?
- 8:57And what was going to happen, when they come into the land of
- 8:58Canaan, they're going to have some neighbors and they're not
- 9:01the best neighbors. They're gonna have Pagan
- 9:03neighbors, they're going to have neighbors that worship different
- 9:06gods and have different practices and approach, God in a
- 9:08different way. In a way in God, did not
- 9:10describe and prescribed. And so the people needed to
- 9:13maintain a way of seeking God and representing God in the
- 9:16midst of all the darkness, that would be around the Not only
- 9:19that, but the people of Israel were delivered from growing up
- 9:23in a system called Egypt for hundreds of years and so they
- 9:28themselves have seen throughout their lives, the way that the
- 9:31Egyptians worship their gods and how they live their lives and
- 9:34you know what God was trying to Do Not only was God purposely
- 9:38taking them out of Egypt and he did, God was trying to get Egypt
- 9:41out of them. It's not just about taking them
- 9:46out of the world's, getting the world out of them, getting Egypt
- 9:49and draining it out. And so, he gives these laws and
- 9:52he gives these detailed instructions.
- 9:55So that when people were to see them, they would say, surely
- 9:57this is a kingdom of priests. Surely they represent the true
- 10:00God, why? Because I can see it, you're
- 10:02different. On the phone, this cycle of
- 10:05worshipping, false gods. And it gets crazy, you know how
- 10:08the book works and the Old Testament and this can be
- 10:11confirmed in Leviticus 11 44, ye shall be what Holy, as I am.
- 10:18Holy So, let me take his deals with two things right off the
- 10:22bat. Number one, it deals with how
- 10:23the people of God were to relate to God.
- 10:24But not just how to relate to God but how to represent, God.
- 10:28So already as New Covenant, Believers.
- 10:30We have to deal with the same thing.
- 10:31We are called to relate to God in a certain way, and we are
- 10:34called to represent God in a certain way, but notice how The
- 10:36Book of Leviticus is structured. Leviticus was not given before
- 10:41Exodus. It was given after Exodus, why
- 10:44is that important? Because behavioral modification
- 10:49is not something God gives you and me before, he takes us out
- 10:51of Egypt. He deals with us after we come
- 10:54out of Egypt. So he doesn't give these do's
- 10:56and don'ts in these lists of how you should live in order for you
- 10:59to cross the Red Sea. You crossed the Red Sea by my
- 11:01grace now living this way sleep, in a structure of the book, and
- 11:05the cannon itself. Describes how we should position
- 11:08this understanding of how we live in response to his Mercy.
- 11:14So let's look at the structure, take Leviticus.
- 11:16Now, take those pages. Something that you can do with a
- 11:19phone. Take those pages And look at the
- 11:23structure of the book, the first seven chapters, the first seven
- 11:28chapters deal with the offerings, that the people and
- 11:34the priest. Where to be faithful to the
- 11:38first. Seven chapters deal with the
- 11:40offerings required of both the laity and the leaders.
- 11:45Chapter 8, in chapter 10 deal with the ordination of the
- 11:50priesthood. So Aaron and his sons are
- 11:53ordained in chapter 18, chapter 10.
- 11:55We look at chapter 11 to 16 and there are various prescriptions
- 12:00for various types of uncleanness.
- 12:04And so, you look at 12, 16 and includes the day of atonement of
- 12:07what the people were to do. If they fall in any state of
- 12:10being unclean and from 17 to 27, we are offered here, a code of
- 12:17Holiness for daily living. So 127 deals with the sacrifices
- 12:21for the laity and the priesthood eight to ten deals with the
- 12:26ordination of the priesthood. And something happens there in
- 12:28chapter 10. 11 to 16 deals with the different prescriptions to
- 12:34deal with sickness and discharge mint of bodily, fluids and all
- 12:40these different things, I will get into together.
- 12:42And in, from 17, to 27, we deal with a Holiness code for daily
- 12:46living. So then some of you guys have
- 12:49already mentioned this, but we now have to understand the
- 12:51themes of this book. If you haven't noticed, we're
- 12:53talking overview right now. Overview of The Book of
- 12:56Leviticus, the themes of this book, and some of you already
- 13:00said these things, but one of the themes that we cannot denies
- 13:03the Holiness of God, and the call to Holiness of, man.
- 13:07So holiness, Leviticus deals with Holiness and what way?
- 13:12Number one, the Holiness of God, God is not a man, like, you and
- 13:15me. Meaning what we cannot approach?
- 13:18God, the way you and I approach one, another so freely.
- 13:24If there is a specific way that you are to approach, a judge and
- 13:29a local sense. If there is a specific protocol
- 13:32that you have to follow if you want to meet with a government
- 13:33official. And if you need to receive an
- 13:36invitation to meet with the president, how much more, The
- 13:39God Who made everything with his word.
- 13:42You can't approach God, the way you want.
- 13:43I can approach God, that we won. That's what Leviticus deals
- 13:45with. You can't just Waltz into my
- 13:47presence and two priests actually thought that they could
- 13:49do that. So, casually and God says, I
- 13:51don't care whose son you are, and I don't care.
- 13:53What kind of office you. By Holiness of God.
- 13:58The Holiness of God and not just that the call of Holiness to man
- 14:02that God is concerned in Leviticus.
- 14:04And this is a Timeless truth through the sermon in this book.
- 14:09That we, as the people of God, are called to reflect the very
- 14:12one we worship. And this is what the people of
- 14:16Israel had to understand. That they were to represent him
- 14:20and they were not to determine their way of worshiping, God or
- 14:24representing God, the way they knew and their presuppositions
- 14:27in the past in Egypt. No, no.
- 14:29Doesn't matter how you grew up and what you're comfortable with
- 14:30or what your idea of God Is by nor were they to change the way
- 14:36they see God or change the way they relate to God in the future
- 14:39around the cultures, that would be developing and changing.
- 14:41No, no, I've given you the instructions for all time.
- 14:46So the way we worship God, that's the second understanding.
- 14:51We're going to figure out something about worship.
- 14:54Listen to Leviticus 18, just for a second.
- 14:55Just listen, Leviticus 18, 3. You shall not do as they do in
- 15:00the land of Egypt, where you lived past tense, and you shall
- 15:03not do as they do in the land of Canaan to, which I am bringing
- 15:06you future sense. So, no matter what you grew up
- 15:09with, no matter what you're comfortable with, no matter
- 15:12what, maybe even a spiritual leader told you if it's not
- 15:14according to the word of God. You dismiss it doesn't matter
- 15:17what the culture says it doesn't matter what the majority are
- 15:19doing in the concerning, their worship service and how they
- 15:21relate to God and what they do for with the word of God.
- 15:23We stick with what he is given us worship.
- 15:27So there's a prescription for worship, there's an
- 15:30understanding of his Holiness and listen.
- 15:32The Book of Leviticus is not a way for God to flex his
- 15:34Transcendence and say look how awesome I his nature demands
- 15:39these things. So God is not giving out these
- 15:42laws and these things just because he wants to show our
- 15:44holy is and just say this is how awesome I am.
- 15:47And this is what you have to jump through all these hoops.
- 15:48Just because I decide know his nature demands it.
- 15:53The very Holiness of God the man's the very things that we
- 15:56will read about. And so when you read those
- 15:58things and sometimes your mind goes off to different places.
- 16:00Realize this, this is how sacred he is.
- 16:06That even if a fluid from my body is discharged from me.
- 16:09I got to step outside of the camp for several days just to be
- 16:12in the very courts of God. We've lost here me very
- 16:17carefully. We have lost in the church
- 16:19today, and I say this with fear and Chumlee, more than anything.
- 16:22If there's any doctrine that we've dismissed and pushed in
- 16:24the background, is the Holiness of God.
- 16:28And part of that reason to is because many of us have divided
- 16:32this understanding that God just has these moods and he's in a
- 16:35bad mood in the Old Testament and New Testament.
- 16:37He's in a really good mood and he's staying in that mood
- 16:38forever. It's the same God.
- 16:43The same God and guess what? He's the same.
- 16:45God that requires the very same Holiness and what's the
- 16:48difference? Well, in the Old Testament, he
- 16:50had a different code and the New Testament.
- 16:52Same Holiness, same demand, different code.
- 16:57Different code. So he's not flexing his
- 16:59Transcendence. He's not saying look how asked
- 17:02know his nature demands it because that's glorious as his
- 17:05Holiness has, it's also dangerous especially when it
- 17:08comes to the contact with corruption.
- 17:13With the Book of Leviticus, take our breath away and not put us
- 17:15to sleep. That we would realize his
- 17:19majesty and Splendor themes. The Holiness of God to worship
- 17:25worship. This book deals with how the
- 17:27people were to worship and how we to some degree need to
- 17:31worship. God 3, somebody had said it more
- 17:34than once, there's a theme of atonement.
- 17:38The theme of atonement. We cannot look at Leviticus as
- 17:41just a singular book. We must understand this book in
- 17:44the larger scale of The Narrative of the scriptures and
- 17:47what Leviticus does to the history of the people of God
- 17:50concerning us as well up to this point, concerning his Remnant.
- 17:54They are going to quickly come to an awareness of their need of
- 17:58a substitute Because of their lack of ability to be able to
- 18:03maintain God's law and their own strength.
- 18:08So every time a sacrifice has instituted.
- 18:11What God had desired to do is make them realize their need for
- 18:16a substitute. Holiness worship.
- 18:23Atonement. So I get the themes.
- 18:29Here's the final part of our overview.
- 18:33What does have to do with me? As a New Covenant, believer?
- 18:36I get those themes and that can cause me to worship but what can
- 18:40I take out of Leviticus and sense of application?
- 18:43I need three people to give me three verses.
- 18:46I need one person to open up to Luke 24:44.
- 18:49Luke 24:44 one person to Luke 24:44 another person to go to
- 18:54First Peter 114, First Peter 1, 14 to 16 and a third person to
- 18:59go to Roman's 12:1. First person, Luke 24:44 Second
- 19:03person, First Peter 1, 14 to 16, third person to go to Roman's
- 19:0712:1. Whoever is that Luke 24:44 could
- 19:09you read it out loud, please. Who will win the race?
- 19:16Then he being Jesus said concerning him, that all
- 19:33that was written about me. Where what was the first thing?
- 19:37The law of Moses. So this is what you and I can
- 19:41anticipate as we go through The Vedic has, I am going to learn
- 19:45something about Number one, as I go through the video Kiss, I'm
- 19:50going to learn something because Jesus, himself said that out of
- 19:53the law, if it gets any more law.
- 19:55It's this this is how this is like Pinnacle of law right here
- 19:59in the middle kiss. I'm going to see Christ
- 20:02somewhere in this book more than once, because he says it points
- 20:06to me, it points to me who's at First Peter 1, 14. 1st Peter 1,
- 20:1414 to 16. So, PD and children without you
- 20:20can form the Pasta Bolognese but as he who called you is Holy and
- 20:27also be holding all your condom. It is written, you shall be holy
- 20:33for. I am Holy.
- 20:34So, Peter found some use in Leviticus He's speaking to New
- 20:38Covenant Believers and he says listen as obedient children.
- 20:41I want you to live. Holy as he is Holy and guess
- 20:43where he's pulling that verse out of Leviticus 11.
- 20:47So Peter could find some use inspired by the Holy Spirit.
- 20:50Shirley and this is what you'll learn from The Book of
- 20:52Leviticus. We will learn together you and I
- 20:54will learn principles of Holiness notice.
- 20:57I didn't say practices for Holiness principles for Holiness
- 21:00is a big difference because if you're going to go into
- 21:03laviticus and say okay if this is what it means to be holy I'm
- 21:05going to live. Holy you're going to change your
- 21:07closet. You're going to change the way
- 21:08you farm. You're going to change the way
- 21:09you come to church big time and you're not in that Covenant.
- 21:12We're not in that Covenant. But the principles remain the
- 21:16same. That's what Peter is getting at.
- 21:18And there are even spiritual principles within even those
- 21:21physical commands of outward Holiness, Romans 12:1, This is a
- 21:28people are cheating with this. We need to do something about
- 21:31that. Romans 12:1, the reason why I
- 21:32always asked to look and we want to look in the Bible together so
- 21:35that you can map it out in the scriptures, Romans 12:1, Romans
- 21:3912:1. You guys can do it in the same
- 21:48time. If you want, go ahead and can go
- 21:51ahead. I feel to you therefore Brothers
- 21:54by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a Living
- 21:57Sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual
- 22:02Paul is using Old Testament language too.
- 22:08Admonish New Covenant. Believers concerning.
- 22:10What true worship is and he says I want your bodies and look what
- 22:14he does. Use his Old Testament language
- 22:15as a Living Sacrifice. So we're going to learn
- 22:20something about spiritual worship.
- 22:25In Leviticus. So we come to Leviticus chapter
- 22:30one. Leviticus one, as we spoke of
- 22:34Leviticus, 23, 45 even 26. And spilling over, even 27.
- 22:43Deal with these types of sacrifices and offerings, does
- 22:47anybody know some of them at the top of their head?
- 22:50the offerings that the people were to give Grain offering.
- 22:57Yes. What else?
- 22:59Burn offering. Yes.
- 23:02You have one. Yeah, yeah.
- 23:06So within those offerings are different types of animals.
- 23:08They can give. Yes, peace, offerings.
- 23:12Guilt offering sin offerings. There are mainly five offerings
- 23:16that were we're going to deal with in the beginning here.
- 23:18And these offerings. Have a specific purpose though,
- 23:22they are. So alike.
- 23:23There is a unique fulfillment, that they, they have concerning
- 23:27how they worship God, and how they relate to God, and what it
- 23:29satisfies concerning God's standard for righteousness.
- 23:32And Holiness. And there's a prophetic element
- 23:35to each of these offerings concerning who the person that
- 23:38we just sang to tonight, concerning Jesus, and not just
- 23:41Jesus. And what he has fulfilled
- 23:43because all these sacrifices again, deal with a certain
- 23:46detail about how they were to be cleanse, or how they were to
- 23:51give themselves over to God and Christ sacrifice.
- 23:53His one sacrifice deals with everything.
- 23:55Only one sacrifice, not multiple sacrifices but these things
- 24:00Christ has fulfilled. He's covered at all and is Own
- 24:02sacrifice. And not only that each of these
- 24:05offerings that we're going to discover are going to show us
- 24:07something about what worship looks like to God, and what he
- 24:10desires not in copy paste, we don't have an altar.
- 24:14We don't have to throw grain. We don't have to roast animals.
- 24:16No. But there are principles there
- 24:18and let it the New Covenant, as a Living Sacrifice.
- 24:21And so, the first one, we're going to deal with chapter one,
- 24:23burnt offering. So look at chapter 1 quickly.
- 24:31I'm just going to read these verses and see what comes to
- 24:33mind. Verse 3.
- 24:37If his offering is a burnt offering from the herd, he shall
- 24:42offer a male without blemish. Go to verse 10.
- 24:47If his gift for a burnt offering is from the flock from the sheep
- 24:51or goats, he shall bring a male without blemish.
- 24:55Go to verse 14. If his offering to the Lord is a
- 24:59burnt offering of birds, then he shall bring his offering of
- 25:03turtledoves or pigeons. One offering.
- 25:10Different ways of giving it. What is God showing about
- 25:15himself and doing this? Now, look at verse 4.
- 25:17What is the purpose of this offering?
- 25:19Look at verse 4. He shall lay on his hand on her
- 25:24head of the burnt offering and he shall be accepted from to
- 25:26make atonement for him. So this sacrifice has to deal
- 25:31with atoning for sin, but there are various ways of doing it
- 25:35within the heading of burnt offering.
- 25:38And the question is, what is God revealing even in saying, if you
- 25:42can't do it this way, you can do it this way.
- 25:44If you can't do it this way, you can do it this way.
- 25:47He's getting you off yet. So he is giving options.
- 25:54Absolutely, but with what in mind, why is he giving options?
- 26:00That's exactly right because the people, some people could not
- 26:04afford to bring a bull or to bring a sheep or to bring a go.
- 26:07And so, you know what he has in mind though?
- 26:10God wants all people to be able to receive atonement.
- 26:14He doesn't want to hold a tone from anyone.
- 26:17And so with God's heart, he goes.
- 26:18Listen, if you can't afford this, look at his heart here and
- 26:21Leviticus. If you can't afford a bull, you
- 26:23can bring your ship. If you can't even bring a sheep,
- 26:25you can bring something as small as a bird.
- 26:27And that bird is so tiny. They can't even you can't even
- 26:30cut it up and do it the way you could with a sheep or a goat,
- 26:32but this is God's heart behind this very offering.
- 26:35I long to Grant atonement to all people.
- 26:40I am not selectively. Look at the prophetic imagery.
- 26:42Here, I am. Not selective in my salvation.
- 26:47I'm not looking to a certain group or status in society and
- 26:50saying here, I'm going to give this to you.
- 26:51I'm going to make these holes easier for you to hoop through.
- 26:53No, no, I'm gonna give this to all people.
- 26:56I'm going to make salvation reachable for all people in the
- 27:00scene, playing field. I'm not restricting.
- 27:03This, I'm not making this difficult for whether you're
- 27:05poor, you can be a bum or brilliant billionaire.
- 27:11Atonement is available to you. And look at how important it is
- 27:15to understand some of these details, and Leviticus.
- 27:17And the old Covenant turn your Bibles to Luke to 24, when Mary
- 27:20wants to come and bring baby Jesus.
- 27:24For a ceremonial offering concerning her son.
- 27:28And look what it reveals here. And Luke 224, and to offer a
- 27:34sacrifice. According to what is said, in
- 27:36the law of the Lord, this is Mary and her husband going now,
- 27:38a pair of turtledoves or two young pigeons You know what that
- 27:45shows about Mary and Joseph as parents, what they weren't Rich,
- 27:50they didn't have the money to give a bowler to give a gold or
- 27:53to give a sheep. And this is who the god of the
- 27:56universe chose to be born under. He didn't give himself over to
- 28:01Herod and to be born in a palace.
- 28:02He didn't give himself to some Pharisee.
- 28:04No, he came under a young lady and her husband who could not
- 28:07even afford The maximum ability to worship and I love this image
- 28:13that they're going with these birds and at the same time
- 28:15they're bringing the child. Who's going to actually being
- 28:18sacrificed for all men for all the time.
- 28:24God desires to have all people reach atonement.
- 28:29God is Not restricting it to a certain brand of people to a
- 28:32certain group of people know. God wants all people to come to
- 28:37the foot of the cross. I love the scripture.
- 28:40When Paul preaches in Acts 17 bear, with me acts 17:24 228,
- 28:45acts 17 24 to 28. The God Who made the world.
- 28:51And everything in it. Being Lord of Heaven and Earth.
- 28:57Does not live in temples made by man.
- 28:59Nor is he served by human hands as though he needed anything for
- 29:05he himself? Gives to all mankind, life,
- 29:09breath and everything. And he made from one man every
- 29:13nation of all mankind to live in all of the face of the Earth.
- 29:19Having determined a lot of periods.
- 29:22And the boundaries of their dwelling place for what reason,
- 29:25why did God allow people to live on the places of the world in
- 29:28different countries and different boundaries at
- 29:29different times? Y, what reason verse 27, that
- 29:33they should seek God, that they should seek God and perhaps feel
- 29:40their way toward him and find him.
- 29:44It is actually not far from each one of us.
- 29:46I love that first. It is actually not far from each
- 29:49one of us. Why?
- 29:50For in him we live and move and have our being The omnipresence
- 29:56of God makes it accessible for whether you live in the jungles
- 29:59and Africa. Are you live in a high-rise in
- 30:01New York? That every person has the same
- 30:03ability to call out to God and reach out to him.
- 30:04He made himself reachable. He's not far from each one of
- 30:08us. If you don't know Christ today,
- 30:10you can get shaved in this living.
- 30:11You don't have to go through some religious Hoops, you don't
- 30:14have to wait for a certain time. You don't have to be in the
- 30:17right sacred place. So, how does a person for for
- 30:22wherever they live or whatever time there?
- 30:23And how does a person reached? Didn't come to God.
- 30:26Well, acts 17:30 the times of ignorance God, overlooked.
- 30:31But now he commands all people everywhere, all people
- 30:34everywhere to do. What?
- 30:35Repent. Repent.
- 30:41Free is fixing a day in which he will judge the world in
- 30:42righteousness, by men, whom he has appointed.
- 30:44He has given a sure enough this to all men by raising him from
- 30:46the dead. Don't Preach repentance.
- 30:51All the apostles did. He commands all people
- 30:56everywhere to repent. That's how you come to the
- 31:01knowledge of God repented faith in him.
- 31:04And so we see from the sacrifices that God's heart is
- 31:06that all people would be able to reach atonement.
- 31:10What else do we see from these sacrifices?
- 31:12There's a common theme amongst though.
- 31:13They were bowls and though they were goats and though they were
- 31:16turtle doves. They had one thing in common
- 31:18though, they're kind was not the same.
- 31:22Perfect, without blemish. Without blemish.
- 31:26Now, focus on the first part focus on the heard the male bull
- 31:30here that they were to be without blemish and not only
- 31:35without blemish. You look here in verse 9.
- 31:42The see here that the priest shall burn.
- 31:44All of it on the altar. So we see that, even before
- 31:50that, not rule number one without blemish without spot
- 31:54without fault. God wants the best, right?
- 31:58But then they were to take this bull if the animal was big
- 32:01enough to cut it up into pieces and as they cut it up into
- 32:04pieces, it says there in verse 9 that they were to take all of it
- 32:07and put it on the altar. And Christ is the ultimate
- 32:12sacrifice and we know that he was without fault without
- 32:15blemish but not just in a general sense.
- 32:17Think of it because he took on flesh, that in every part
- 32:21concerning who he was in his Humanity in every part, it
- 32:25proved to be acceptable to God on Calvary.
- 32:28Do you know what I mean? By that?
- 32:29I mean, they cut up that sacrifice into pieces and every
- 32:32piece had to be without spot or blemish, and have to be
- 32:35acceptable before God in such a way.
- 32:37But in Christ, the ultimate sacrifice.
- 32:39He proved to be the same. It says in First Peter 2:22,
- 32:43what that in him was no sin and in him, there is no deceit,
- 32:46where his mouth. There is no deceit in his mouth.
- 32:51Peter used that to encourage the Believers not to retaliate with
- 32:54their lips and said Jesus was without sin and Jesus in his
- 32:59mouth, there was found no deceit.
- 33:03And I love that. That every part of Christ.
- 33:06Proved to be acceptable before God on Calvary.
- 33:09The same way that every part of that bull needed to be spotless
- 33:13and perfect to be acceptable before God.
- 33:15Which means something for you and me.
- 33:19That because of Christ on Calvary and every part of who he
- 33:23was even in his physical suffering.
- 33:26Prove to be acceptable before God.
- 33:30That means that every part of my life has proven to be made,
- 33:34perfect. And righteous before God as
- 33:35well. Think about his physical
- 33:38suffering. Think about every part of his
- 33:41physical suffering and how it deals with every part that you
- 33:45and I every instrument of our body that we've used to rebel
- 33:49against God. And so as one missionary said
- 33:53our minds, they were hostile towards God.
- 33:56They love to meditate on the things that God hates.
- 33:58And so what is Christ? Do they put a thorny crown on
- 34:01his brow? His lips.
- 34:08His lips were dry parched thirsty.
- 34:14Your lips and mine spoke things that we should never have said,
- 34:18blaspheme God beyond measure and his lips on that cross suffered
- 34:23for your lips. And these hands, these hands
- 34:28have touched things, that they shouldn't have touched and taken
- 34:30things that they shouldn't have taken.
- 34:31But those hands We nailed on the cross.
- 34:38And your back and my back have continually turned against God
- 34:44and walked in her own Direction. Defiantly showing him that we
- 34:48will not walk, according to his ways.
- 34:50And so, he offers his back lashed beyond recognition. so in
- 34:56these feet, how they have wandered to places that they
- 34:59should not have gone, And how they have drifted away from the
- 35:02place in which they were supposed to be concerning the
- 35:05righteousness of God, and obedience to his word, but they
- 35:09did not. And so they were nailed.
- 35:13Nailed on the cross. Every part of that bull needed
- 35:20to be spotless on that altar. Every part of Christ was proven
- 35:25to be blameless on that cross dealing with every part of your
- 35:30members that were used to rebel against him.
- 35:35Which tells you and me something.
- 35:38Concerning our sacrifice, its complete.
- 35:42His sacrifice was made complete. Not for some of you, but for all
- 35:46of you All of you in all of me. Why do I say that?
- 35:53Because there are some things that we are convinced that Jesus
- 35:55can forgive us of, but there are some things, we are not
- 35:58convinced that he could have forgiven us from Oh yeah, I
- 36:01understand. I've lied with this live but you
- 36:03don't know what I've done with these hands man and I can't
- 36:05imagine crying no no. Every piece has been covered.
- 36:08All you don't know where my feet have gone.
- 36:11Yeah. I understand.
- 36:11He can forgive me for what I've allowed in here and you can,
- 36:14what I've allowed in here. But these feet.
- 36:15No, no, no. Every piece has been translated
- 36:19to you. Not some of you do you want to
- 36:23know what happened to your sins and mind Colossians 2 13 and 14
- 36:28and you who were dead in your trespasses and the
- 36:32uncircumcision of your flesh? God has made alive together with
- 36:37him. Having forgiven us not from some
- 36:39having forgiven us of all our transgressions.
- 36:45Doing what taking that record of debt.
- 36:52And laying it aside, right? With all its legal demands.
- 36:56What did he do with it? At the end of that verse?
- 36:58He laid it aside and he nailed it to the cross.
- 37:02That record of sin every single thing, all the transgression has
- 37:06been written and has been nailed on the cross.
- 37:09And, you know, what many Believers are doing, they're
- 37:10trying to pull it back down. Leave it there.
- 37:14He nailed it on the cross. Why are you trying to unhinge
- 37:17it? And if the devil would ever try
- 37:20to point any sin to you, make sure that you remind him where
- 37:23it's nailed. All you can point the records,
- 37:26me all you want Satan, but look at where it is, nailed on the
- 37:30cross, and I have no plans of taking it down, because it's
- 37:34dealt with stuff. Every piece was on the altar,
- 37:42every pre piece of Christ, proved to be acceptable and
- 37:46every part of who you are as made blameless because of what
- 37:49he's done. So we understand Christ.
- 37:57But there's something about worship.
- 37:58And the burnt offering, there's something about worship and this
- 38:02is where we're ending. If you can turn to Romans 12:1,
- 38:13if you're familiar with the book of Romans, it's a powerful
- 38:17scripture. And Paul deals with so much from
- 38:20Romans 12, Romans 12. He deals with justification by
- 38:27faith. He deals with the glory of God.
- 38:30He deals with the inheritance of the Holy Spirit.
- 38:33He deals with how we can live in victory, over sin.
- 38:36He deals with God's plan for Israel and God's plan for the
- 38:39Gentiles. He deals with so much.
- 38:42All these weighty matters, all these theological truths and he
- 38:45comes to Roman's 12:1. And sometimes this is where
- 38:49divisions, in chapters can do us a disservice because it's one
- 38:51continuous thought he comes to Roman's 12:1.
- 38:55And he says, I appeal to you, therefore Brothers, by the
- 38:58mercies of God, to present your bodies as a Living Sacrifice,
- 39:03holy acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.
- 39:07It's as though to say, listen up to this point to what you have,
- 39:10read up to this point, to what, Heard concerning your salvation
- 39:15concerning your inheritance in Christ, concerning the future
- 39:18glories to come concerning God's sovereignty, over all Affairs in
- 39:22the world. After you have heard and read
- 39:24all these things. He climaxes here as he
- 39:27transitions his thoughts. And the Book of Romans to
- 39:29practical Christian Living. He says, I appeal I adjure, I
- 39:34beg you. In light of all that, you've
- 39:37heard present your bodies as a Living Sacrifice.
- 39:45All of those things next time you, and I read the book of
- 39:48Romans read it all up and let it build up to Roman's 12:1.
- 39:52Then when he comes up to this point, it's all there to say.
- 39:54Now do something with this. Let it cause you to live a life
- 40:00of Daley of Daley sacrifice. And this is what we have to
- 40:04understand concerning the Old Testament in this.
- 40:10Like the burnt offering, not just a part of you. but all of
- 40:16you could you imagine how ridiculous it would be if a
- 40:18person had come to bring a bull, cut it up into pieces and as
- 40:23he's contemplating a putting that entire sacrifice on the
- 40:25altar, he goes, you know, I'm going to keep the thigh Yeah,
- 40:30I'm I might use the feet so I'm going to keep the feet.
- 40:35And they could have done that, but you know what, it wouldn't
- 40:37have been acceptable before God. It wouldn't have been true
- 40:41worship. And so in the same way, he's not
- 40:44saying part of your body, pause, not saying some of your life,
- 40:47Paul's not saying a fraction of your existence.
- 40:49He's saying your whole body as a Living Sacrifice.
- 40:55As a Living Sacrifice. Seeing the Old Testament was
- 40:57about bringing a sacrifice in killing in a New Covenant, about
- 41:00you living it and you living as a sacrifice, not you killing
- 41:04something in the old Covenant, you would bring a sacrifice, you
- 41:07would lay your hands on it. Would it would be symbolic of
- 41:09your sins being transmitted onto that sacrifice and you killing
- 41:13it. You taking the life of another
- 41:15thing as a substitute of worship to God.
- 41:18You know what? God says, I don't want you to
- 41:19give a life of another. I want to get, I want you to
- 41:21give me your life. You could bring to me 5,000
- 41:27bulls and cut them up and bring them before an altar in the New
- 41:30Covenant and guess what, it wouldn't mean lick for God. he
- 41:35wants you and I to live as a sacrifice unto him daily and
- 41:42this is what we have to understand here.
- 41:45When you understand that burnt offering.
- 41:48And to give it completely and light of our worship, it's
- 41:52really easy to say, right? Perhaps, even now we could say
- 41:56who here has given everything to God.
- 42:02Sometimes we hear that and we go.
- 42:03Yeah, I'm pretty sure I've given everything to God as an act of
- 42:06worship to him. But it's a whole different
- 42:09thing. When you cut up your life piece
- 42:10by piece and examine it and say, have I really given this part to
- 42:14God, have I given this part to God?
- 42:19What about this aspect of my life?
- 42:20Is a surrender to God when you really analyze your life piece
- 42:24by piece and not just flippantly saying all I gave everything to
- 42:27God. Yes.
- 42:29And you really reflect It would be amazing to see how your heart
- 42:35feels that pull. When you realize, I don't know
- 42:39if this is fully surrendered yet.
- 42:43I don't know if this part of my life is really given to God cut
- 42:48your life into pieces tonight and ask yourself, is this part
- 42:51given to God, Is my sexuality given to God.
- 42:58Is my finances given to God is what I let into this mind given
- 43:01to God is white. I let out of this mouth given to
- 43:04God what are all any of these things restricted to myself to
- 43:08my own purposes to my own Glory? Have I convinced myself that
- 43:14I've put 3/4 of myself on that altar, but I've kept the peace
- 43:17to myself. The same way that the Old
- 43:22Testament required, all of it is the same way Christ requires all
- 43:25of us and until then it's not true worship.
- 43:31The same way, part of that sacrifice being reserved for
- 43:34self, would disqualify that burnt offering from being a
- 43:37pleasing Aroma to God. I wonder today in all humility
- 43:41and the fear of the Lord. Do I ask this question, how many
- 43:44Believers today are walking around thinking that their lives
- 43:47are really a sacrifice? When really it's not, because
- 43:52they themselves know within their hearts that they have not
- 43:54given every part what is it mean to give your life as a Living
- 44:00Sacrifice? Well, in the same book Romans
- 44:0212, turn back to Roman's 6. Look at Romans 6:13 with me.
- 44:16Romans 6:13. Do not present your members to
- 44:23sin as instruments for unrighteousness, but present
- 44:28yourselves to God, as those who have been brought from Death to
- 44:32life and your members to God as instruments for righteousness.
- 44:38So this is what it means to dedicate my life piece by piece
- 44:41of the Lord. Simply ask this sobering
- 44:44question, is this element in instrument for righteousness, or
- 44:47for sin? Is this, is this member of my
- 44:50body given to the glory of God, or for the satisfaction of self
- 44:54if you and I can scan through our entire lives and say this
- 44:58part of my life, this member of my body is given to the glory of
- 45:00God and you can check it off. You know that your entire
- 45:04offering is legitimate. I remember hearing of a group of
- 45:11young men freshly saved that were pursuing God as a group of
- 45:16friends as a group of friends. If you have friends that love
- 45:18God, hold onto them very tight. They're hard to find in this
- 45:21day. Not the ones that call
- 45:23themselves Christians and talk about other trivial things in
- 45:25this life in. Don't care about the things of
- 45:27God and growing in Grace, once I really love God.
- 45:31This group of friends came to a place in which they were
- 45:35convicted they've surrendered to Christ.
- 45:37They've given their lives to Christ, but there is something
- 45:39in one person's heart and it was a confirmation for another
- 45:41brother's heart that he had realized that he had not
- 45:44surrendered, his trust in God for his future concerning his
- 45:48finances. And as there is sitting there
- 45:52together before service, he had openly confessed, I feel like
- 45:56the Lord has convicted me about about how I handle my money
- 45:59because before I came to Christ, I was always anxious and I love
- 46:02money and I was cheap and I cheated people.
- 46:04But now I'm in Christ and I feel like I still have a residue of
- 46:07that in me and I got his convicted me about it.
- 46:09I want to do something as a symbolic act.
- 46:11I don't know if you guys want to join me but let's do it if you
- 46:13want. And what they did is they got
- 46:15around in a circle and they all pulled out their wallets and
- 46:17they threw their wallets in the middle of that Circle.
- 46:19They locked arms together and they Rated saying Lord, we
- 46:22dedicate our wallets to you. We dedicate our future finances
- 46:28to you that whether you give us much or little, we will use
- 46:31these things as instruments for righteousness.
- 46:36That's what we're talking about. Examining the parts of your life
- 46:39that have not been given over to the lordship of Jesus Christ and
- 46:43all how freeing it is when you can really just sit down and do
- 46:46some inventory on your heart and you even if you tonight after
- 46:51this Bible study ask, God lord. Is there a part of me that's not
- 46:53on that altar? He will gladly show it to you
- 46:55not in condemnation. But in conviction if you ever
- 46:58feel convicted it's not about being condemned, always relate
- 47:01these. Two things whenever you feel
- 47:02that piercing of the holy spirit in your heart, always always
- 47:05remember this That whenever you sense conviction, it's God's
- 47:08invitation into something. Greater God doesn't convicted
- 47:13you so he can make you feel bad and let you for a couple of days
- 47:15feel. So dirty about yourself.
- 47:17God can fix you so that he can invite you into something
- 47:20greater So if you ask him, you'd be amazed how he said, you know,
- 47:24you've kind of left that part off the altar.
- 47:31So, what happens, look at verse 13 here, do not present your
- 47:34members to unrighteousness, but dedicate into instruments of
- 47:37righteousness. Now, come to verse 19 of Romans
- 47:396. I'm speaking in human terms
- 47:44because of your natural limitations for just as you were
- 47:47once presented your members as slaves to impurity and to
- 47:51lawlessness, leading to more lawlessness.
- 47:54So now present your members as slaves to righteousness, leading
- 47:58to sanctification. So, again, it's the same
- 48:00question, is there any part of my life?
- 48:02That's, that's a slave to impurities or any part of my
- 48:05life that is under the lordship of sin and self?
- 48:10If so God in Christ has given you the power to set that thing
- 48:13free to be dedicated to him and his purpose is leading to life
- 48:16in sanctification. And I love how Paul by the holy
- 48:19spirit is continuing in this train of thought because he
- 48:21comes to 13. He comes to 19, then he just
- 48:24gets real. Then he just gets in your face.
- 48:27Then he just says, you know, I'm just going to just be, let's
- 48:29just get real talk. Your look at verse 21.
- 48:33As though to convince them to put everything on the altar, he
- 48:35says. But what fruit were you getting
- 48:38at the time? From the things of which you are
- 48:39now ashamed? He said if you're not convinced
- 48:44if you're really not convinced to put it all on the altar, if
- 48:46you're really not committed dedicated every part of who you
- 48:48are to the glory of God and his righteousness, let me ask you
- 48:51this question. Whatever you're holding on to
- 48:55really ask yourself what fruit is a producing in your life.
- 49:03He's just. Hey guys I just want you to
- 49:05know. I really think about it, your
- 49:07sinful life, your life that is contrary to the glory of God and
- 49:11his standards. What is it actually producing?
- 49:15Ask yourself that. Have you ever asked yourself
- 49:16that before you were saved? Have you ever asked yourself
- 49:19that before you came to Christ? What am I doing?
- 49:23What is then goal of this? Where am I going?
- 49:26Why am I doing this every weekend?
- 49:27Why am I doing this with this person?
- 49:29What is it? And here's probably some
- 49:30possible answers. Well, it feels good.
- 49:32Well, it probably does feel good, but it doesn't last too
- 49:34long, even if it does feel good, Hebrews 11 tells us it's
- 49:37fleeting pleasure, sin offers pleasure.
- 49:40It does. We would all lat or else we
- 49:41wouldn't do it. We wouldn't be doing it.
- 49:44If it didn't feel good, but remember, it's fleeting.
- 49:48It's okay, feels good now. Ask yourself, what are the
- 49:51feelings that come after? When that high is gone.
- 49:55Shane guilt regret. Okay, so now you see the fruit
- 50:00of it, Paul says here in motivating, the people to lay it
- 50:05all on the altar, what fruit where you getting out of it and
- 50:09he answers it, at the end of 21, for the end of those things is
- 50:13death. There's no life.
- 50:18So how are we to give ourselves to this Living Sacrifice as a
- 50:22Living Sacrifice? We conclude legitimately when
- 50:27you go back to Leviticus, And you come not to chapter one, but
- 50:35you come to chapter 6, which gives further instructions for
- 50:38the burnt offering. Look what it says in Leviticus
- 50:4369. Verse 8 will begin the Lord
- 50:50spoke to Moses saying, command Aaron.
- 50:52And his sons saying, this is the law of the burnt offering.
- 50:58The burnt offering shall be on the Hearth of the altar all
- 51:01night until morning and the fire of the altar, shall be kept
- 51:05burning on it. The burnt offering when it comes
- 51:11to the sacrifice on the altar, that fire is not going out and
- 51:15that sacrifice cannot come off until it is completely consumed
- 51:22by that fire. Because afterwards, they would
- 51:25take it down as Ash and remove it into the outside part of the
- 51:29camp. So, you know what that tells me
- 51:31about you and I concerning living sacrifices that God wants
- 51:35to consume us completely completely.
- 51:41Partly completely, totally consumed.
- 51:45You and me. And that fire does not go out.
- 51:51It's always burning. That's the standard.
- 51:55That's the aroma that Christ wants.
- 51:57So when you and I wake up, we go to bed tonight and you wake up
- 52:00in the morning, he wants you to wake up with the full knowledge,
- 52:03that you're a Living Sacrifice throughout the day, you and I
- 52:05are living sacrifices. When we go back to bed, we're
- 52:08still a Living. Sacrifice throughout the night.
- 52:10You're still a Living Sacrifice the next day, when you wake up
- 52:12again for church or a Living Sacrifice.
- 52:14When you go to school on Monday, you're still a living soccer.
- 52:16When you go to work, Living Sacrifice and you and I are
- 52:19walking throughout our day, as a pleasing Aroma to him.
- 52:23And it never goes on pause. It never goes on, pause that.
- 52:28Burnt offering was unending, and to obviously Christ comes into
- 52:31the scene, but that's the picture of worship for you.
- 52:34And me, which tells me something in light of Romans 12, what
- 52:37worship really is true spiritual worship.
- 52:41To God means nothing in song. If our lives are not yet laid on
- 52:45the altar, it's a legitimate, it doesn't qualify to God.
- 52:51Oh, but when a life is completely consumed in him like
- 52:55that burnt offering in Leviticus, there's an aroma to
- 52:58him. There's a sweet-smelling,
- 53:01sacrifice a savoring, and that's what God smells today in light
- 53:05of the New Covenant concerning. A person that does not shed
- 53:07their own blood for their God, like many other religions do God
- 53:13is not interested for you, spilling your own blood,
- 53:15spilling your own entrails, giving yourself over and you
- 53:18know what God is looking for a life that can say no to
- 53:21temptation. A life that can say yes to
- 53:26righteousness. Oh, this is the best part, A
- 53:29Life, a life that still Walks. With God.
- 53:32When everybody else wants to give three quarters of their
- 53:34sacrifice. Oh, that he would see a
- 53:38fragrance coming up in North America.
- 53:42When everybody else wants to just give pieces to God and keep
- 53:44some for yourself, that he would see a Remnant.
- 53:46He would see a group in which there is that sweet, smelling
- 53:49perfume that comes up to heaven. This is what God is looking for.
- 53:53That's true worship. That's true worship.
- 53:57So, we look at some people and we say, oh, that person worship.
- 53:59So powerfully that person worship.
- 54:01So passionately, and yes, there is an element of singing that is
- 54:04a sacrifice of praise, but it is disqualified.
- 54:07If it comes from a vessel that has not been completely reserved
- 54:10for the purposes in the glory of God.
- 54:13So what we look at it the with with our determination of what
- 54:16true spirituality looks like. God says that person when nobody
- 54:19sees him and is saying, no to temptation is living for Christ
- 54:21has always thinking in light of, how can God be glorified in my
- 54:24decisions? God says, that's worship.
- 54:26That's a song to my ear that no person can pitch.
- 54:31No person. Can sing behind a microphone.
- 54:33Oh, that's a sight to see greater than all these piles of
- 54:36bulls and goats that are shed. Oh yes.
- 54:39That's what God is looking for today.
- 54:42Christ is your burnt offering in mind, and every part of him,
- 54:45covers every part of you and me, and another light of our
- 54:48worship. He wants every part of us as a
- 54:52response to the grace of God. And if you're in sin tonight to
- 54:56any degree, if you are contemplating Holiness and this
- 55:00part giving of God, can I ask you one question in light of
- 55:03Paul's question to the Romans. What fruit are you getting out
- 55:05of it? What fruit is coming out of
- 55:11that, kind of life. Because if you're truly a
- 55:14Believer, even if you're living in compromise, you know it full
- 55:17well you're miserable, aren't you?
- 55:20You're miserable. You're miserable.
- 55:25And that true freedom and that true life comes when you know
- 55:28that every part has been stamped reserved for the glory of God.
- 55:34Some new people here tonight. Welcome.
- 55:39Do you know Jesus Christ? We didn't read something.
- 55:43We're closing here to worship at a moment.
- 55:44There was something about that burnt offering.
- 55:46See, this is something that happened in the Old Testament.
- 55:48It's a picture of what's supposed to happen in the New
- 55:49Testament, through Jesus Christ and his ministry.
- 55:51But there's a part in the Old Testament right there.
- 55:53In that very chapter that we read without person would bring
- 55:56a bull. And you know what he would do,
- 55:57he would lay his hands on that bowl as a symbol that everything
- 56:00about who he was would be transmitted all this sin, all
- 56:03the iniquity, all the faults, all the guilt would be
- 56:05transmitted to that animal as his substitute.
- 56:07It would be slaughtered on his behalf and it would cover
- 56:10temporarily for his sin. You know, Jesus Christ is a
- 56:14picture of that sacrifice, but guess what?
- 56:16We now have to lay hands on anything, the transaction for
- 56:19all your record of sin. All the things that you've done
- 56:22against God is not through the laying hen.
- 56:24Have hands on an animal, not giving yourself over to a gold
- 56:27and saying this is my Senate's going over that.
- 56:29No, no that transaction of all that you've done against God
- 56:33that brings you to a place of standing and condemnation is
- 56:36transmitted over to Christ by faith.
- 56:40By faith. So faith.
- 56:45Given over to Christ takes all of those things.
- 56:50A stand. You condemned before God and
- 56:53comes over to him. And he pays the price for you.
- 56:58Have you done that? Have you done?
- 57:00That is there a moment that you can remember where you said I
- 57:03recognize my sin I recognize that I need a sacrifice.
- 57:06I need a substitute and like in the Old Testament they have to
- 57:09lay hands on that animal and say whatever they have to say
- 57:12Yahweh, this is my substitute, these are my sins now.
- 57:17Approve of Me. No New Covenant is God.
- 57:20I know that I've sinned, and I see Christ on that cross and I
- 57:24believe that he made the payment, Me.
- 57:27Justified before God by faith. If you have never made that
- 57:33conscious decision, make it tonight and guess what?
- 57:37As we just heard in Acts 17, 24 to 28, he is not far from each
- 57:42one of us for in him. We live and move and have our
- 57:46being. He's right here.
- 57:49Call out to him right here and everything can change for you in
- 57:54this Bible study tonight. What we're studying week after
- 57:58week is not just some information for a religious
- 58:00group that has nothing better to do on a Friday.
- 58:02We believe the very words of God are given through this text and
- 58:05they give life and life eternal. I hope that our hearts are
- 58:09stirred. That Christ is the thread
- 58:13through all these texts. And now, what these people in
- 58:19the old Covenant were looking forward to is what you and I can
- 58:22experience today. I conclude with this again. when
- 58:32you think of Abraham and Isaac in Genesis 22, Who is Christ
- 58:39symbolized by in that story? Isaac.
- 58:45And look what it says about Isaac.
- 58:49Verse 5 of Genesis 22, then Abraham said to his young men
- 58:53stay here with the donkey I and the boy will go over there to
- 58:56worship and come again to you and Abraham took the wood of the
- 59:00burnt offering. And laid it on Isaac, his son.
- 59:06That even in Genesis 22. Isaac was supposed to become a
- 59:09burnt offering and God said no I'll send my son to become that
- 59:14all-consuming. All satisfying sacrifice for all
- 59:18Humanity for all time. Hebrews 2:9 says he tasted death
- 59:23for every man. O people of God that we would
- 59:27worship Him. Worship Him and light of the
- 59:31fact that he is the satisfying sacrifice for you and me, and
- 59:34this is our worship as Romans. 12 says, not repeating songs off
- 59:37a screen though. That is an element of it.
- 59:40But saying, Lord, hears every piece on the altar.
- 59:42Every piece, every member of who I am dedicated, not to
- 59:46unrighteousness, but the righteousness and Lord let it be
- 59:50a sweet-smelling sacrifice unto you.
