- 0:01Speaker 1: Weekdays, 3 to 7 p.m. The Flash Drive with Carl
- 0:05Speaker 1: Wastey on KFM 94.5. It's on your show, your Flash Drive,
- 0:09Speaker 1: KFM 94.5. Now, Cassidy, as promised, I would like to
- 0:14Speaker 1: bring in somebody very, very special. But first and foremost,
- 0:17Speaker 1: I wanted to do a little musical journey. I want
- 0:21Speaker 1: you to come with me on a musical journey. Because
- 0:23Speaker 1: I think for a fact that this particular individual, before
- 0:26Speaker 1: we introduce Cassidy, I feel like it's been one of
- 0:29Speaker 1: the most consistent voices in South African music culture. An
- 0:33Speaker 1: individual who has brought not only energy but a certain
- 0:36Speaker 1: authenticity and an integrity to the music that has honestly
- 0:40Speaker 1: paid homage to not only the South African music landscape
- 0:43Speaker 1: but the culture. The culture behind the music is more important.
- 0:48Speaker 1: All the way from 2003 when I matriculated Cassidy, by
- 0:53Speaker 1: the way. I matriculated. I wanted to give this person
- 0:59Speaker 1: an opportunity before we introduce properly. So let's go on
- 1:03Speaker 1: a journey. Okay, fine. Are we going to go on
- 1:05Speaker 1: a journey? Just walk with me on this. Just 2003.
- 1:08Speaker 1: That's when you matriculated.
- 1:09Speaker 2: That's crazy.
- 1:10Speaker 1: Hey, you're not supposed.
- 1:11Speaker 2: To talk yet. It's the masked singer. They'll never know
- 1:15Speaker 2: who this is.
- 1:15Speaker 1: This? Just, it's a big surprise. Okay. Follow me on
- 1:21Speaker 1: this journey. Are you ready? Let's go. Okay, lock in.
- 1:24Speaker 1: I want to take you all the way back, way back,
- 1:26Speaker 1: back in the time.
- 1:27Speaker 2: Do, be, do, be, do, be, do, my love. The
- 1:38Speaker 2: fool is one, oh, you say one.
- 1:41Speaker 1: Oh, I swear to the rest of you. Things have changed.
- 1:48Speaker 1: A new generation.
- 1:49Speaker 2: I'm so my pretty little button.
- 1:55Speaker 1: This time for Africa. Oh.
- 2:16Speaker 2: Come on. Come on.
- 2:47Speaker 1: Please welcome to the mic, Zolani Mahola.
- 2:51Speaker 2: Well, well, well, well, well, well.
- 3:00Speaker 1: It has been decades, hundreds of years since we've had
- 3:03Speaker 1: this opportunity to chat to you on this show. I
- 3:05Speaker 1: know it's terrible of me.
- 3:07Speaker 2: And look at how fresh faced we still all look.
- 3:09Speaker 2: yeah okay how is this possible look at.
- 3:13Speaker 1: That I mean I got a bit grey in my beard.
- 3:14Speaker 2: Now you did get a little bit listen you did
- 3:16Speaker 2: get a little bit grey but the fact that in
- 3:18Speaker 2: 2003 you were in matric you're.
- 3:21Speaker 1: Crazy I mean do you want to I mean this
- 3:25Speaker 1: one over here you're.
- 3:26Speaker 3: How old were you babes I was 2014 I matriculated
- 3:30Speaker 3: I was 10 years younger oh no I was 8
- 3:32Speaker 3: oh no what's.
- 3:33Speaker 1: Happening Are you going to share how old you were
- 3:40Speaker 1: in 2003? Do you see? That's, yeah.
- 3:42Speaker 2: I matriculated four years before you. What? In 99, I
- 3:46Speaker 2: matriculated before the turn of the century.
- 3:49Speaker 1: Beatrice is doing this.
- 3:49Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 3:50Speaker 1: Because obviously the producer of the show, Beatrice, 99 as well.
- 3:52Speaker 1: You do? Yes, there we go.
- 3:54Speaker 2: All right, baby.
- 3:55Speaker 1: All right. Well, welcome, Zolani. It's been way too long.
- 3:59Speaker 1: And just listening back to all those, the reason why
- 4:02Speaker 1: I do that is because I just want to say
- 4:05Speaker 1: that this is, honestly, this is the palace you've built,
- 4:09Speaker 1: my queen.
- 4:10Speaker 4: Oh, man, Karl.
- 4:11Speaker 1: Really, that's the palace you have built. When people hear
- 4:14Speaker 1: your voice, they know that they're home. To have that,
- 4:18Speaker 1: to have that on your shoulders. I wear it like
- 4:20Speaker 1: a belt. Yes, it is a badge.
- 4:23Speaker 2: It's a badge of honor. It is a badge of honor.
- 4:25Speaker 1: It really is.
- 4:26Speaker 2: It's a beautiful thing.
- 4:26Speaker 1: But it takes hard work. It really does to actually
- 4:28Speaker 1: be that consistent. 2003, maybe even earlier than that.
- 4:32Speaker 2: It was earlier, in fact.
- 4:33Speaker 1: You know, it was earlier. But I remember 2003 specifically
- 4:36Speaker 1: for the doobie doo.
- 4:36Speaker 2: Yes.
- 4:37Speaker 1: I do. But there was even something before that as well.
- 4:40Speaker 1: I know that there were tracks like Castles.
- 4:42Speaker 2: There was an album before the Castles in the Sky.
- 4:44Speaker 4: Yes.
- 4:44Speaker 2: Carl, you know my discography.
- 4:46Speaker 1: I do. But not because I'm a really big fan.
- 4:48Speaker 1: I have been since clearly.
- 4:49Speaker 2: I kiss him.
- 4:50Speaker 1: I was in Matrick and beyond. Come on. But to
- 4:55Speaker 1: know that, to wear that as a badge, looking back
- 4:58Speaker 1: and knowing that you still have so much to give.
- 5:01Speaker 2: So much to give. I can't believe it. I can't
- 5:03Speaker 2: believe that this album that I'm about to release is
- 5:07Speaker 2: my ninth studio album. That is a crazy, crazy thing.
- 5:13Speaker 2: Like how many songs have come through this album? vessel
- 5:16Speaker 2: that is I and I. So beautiful.
- 5:19Speaker 1: Yeah, and it's great because it's had its different shades,
- 5:22Speaker 1: you know, it has. It's had a freshly ground.
- 5:24Speaker 2: Oh my goodness.
- 5:25Speaker 1: The one who sings.
- 5:26Speaker 2: Oh, absolutely. In fact, most of it was with the
- 5:29Speaker 2: freshly ground crew, as you say.
- 5:30Speaker 1: 17 years.
- 5:32Speaker 3: 17 years.
- 5:33Speaker 2: Incredible collaborations with all of those musicians, you know, I mean, like,
- 5:37Speaker 2: I think the really amazing thing about freshly ground was
- 5:41Speaker 2: just how... The different elements just came together to create
- 5:45Speaker 2: something that was just so pow, pow, new, you know,
- 5:49Speaker 2: for so many of us. What an incredible journey. And
- 5:52Speaker 2: then to move forward from there, as you say, Carl,
- 5:54Speaker 2: you know, into The One Who Sings. Yes. And now
- 5:56Speaker 2: backslap bang into Zolani Maola. It's just been a beautiful, beautiful,
- 6:01Speaker 2: beautiful circular journey.
- 6:03Speaker 1: And the journey itself to be locked into a freshly
- 6:05Speaker 1: ground unit for 17 years and then become The One
- 6:08Speaker 1: Who Sings and you... A new project.
- 6:10Speaker 2: A whole new entity, yeah.
- 6:11Speaker 1: And then, of course, now to be Zolani. I mean,
- 6:14Speaker 1: you're tracking through. This is the same person through projects.
- 6:18Speaker 1: So I would like to know, just in terms of identity-wise,
- 6:22Speaker 1: just making sure that Zolani is true to Zolani all
- 6:25Speaker 1: the way through. I mean, that's a challenge. It really is.
- 6:29Speaker 1: Because there are different sides of yourself, of.
- 6:30Speaker 4: Course, right?
- 6:31Speaker 2: Oh, a thousand percent. But for me, you know, Carl,
- 6:34Speaker 2: like the really awesome thing that I can observe in
- 6:39Speaker 2: my life and that I'm grateful for is even though
- 6:41Speaker 2: it's the same me and it's the same voice, there's
- 6:43Speaker 2: a lot of transformation. I feel in myself so much transformation,
- 6:48Speaker 2: particularly now at this stage of the game where I've
- 6:52Speaker 2: really come to, to really know, know, My value, you know,
- 6:58Speaker 2: like as a muso, as a songwriter, as a mom,
- 7:02Speaker 2: as a citizen, and just coming into my own, releasing
- 7:06Speaker 2: this album for the first time under my own name,
- 7:09Speaker 2: you know, because I released my first solo album under
- 7:11Speaker 2: the one who sings. And so it feels really momentous.
- 7:17Speaker 1: It is momentous.
- 7:18Speaker 2: Feels momentous.
- 7:19Speaker 1: Because there's something about the power within the people and
- 7:24Speaker 1: what is behind the people, which is their culture, their
- 7:27Speaker 1: roots and where they come from. And that's why when
- 7:29Speaker 1: I heard Cosa Nostra with Bravo Leroux, the late great,
- 7:33Speaker 1: I felt all the emotion, of course, because, you know,
- 7:37Speaker 1: there was sentiment behind that. But then I was like,
- 7:39Speaker 1: that's right. Like, I know Cosa Nostra is so big
- 7:42Speaker 1: and gratuitous, but like you've added Cosa. And I was like, yes,
- 7:46Speaker 1: because there was such depth in it. And do you
- 7:50Speaker 1: feel like the real... stance that you've taken with regard
- 7:53Speaker 1: to your identity and your life was from saying that
- 7:55Speaker 1: you are a proud Xhosa woman.
- 7:57Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 7:58Speaker 1: And you need to lean into that more than you
- 8:00Speaker 1: ever have in your entire career.
- 8:02Speaker 2: I would say that I think it's, I think it's
- 8:04Speaker 2: a lot, there's so much reclamation kinds of things in,
- 8:08Speaker 2: in this, in this body of work that, um, that
- 8:10Speaker 2: is fully coming out next year, but that Xhosa Nostra
- 8:13Speaker 2: is a big part of, um, that, um, For me,
- 8:16Speaker 2: I've had such a reconnection to my sense of self
- 8:20Speaker 2: through exploring the cultural backdrop that I came from. My
- 8:25Speaker 2: father was a huge traditionalist. He also was a Catholic
- 8:28Speaker 2: and Christian, but he also practiced his Xhosa rites. And
- 8:33Speaker 2: so we grew up with a lot of ceremonies at home.
- 8:37Speaker 2: And when I moved to the Western Cape, when I
- 8:39Speaker 2: moved to Cape Town in 2000, I didn't do any
- 8:43Speaker 2: of that stuff. I kind of just like, you know,
- 8:44Speaker 2: live my best life, which was fine. But in 2020,
- 8:48Speaker 2: I started diving in the sea for the first time.
- 8:51Speaker 2: And in that process of diving in the sea, weirdly
- 8:54Speaker 2: reconnected with my ancestral cultural roots. And that journey has
- 9:00Speaker 2: really informed a lot of the music that is on
- 9:02Speaker 2: this album right now. Wow.
- 9:04Speaker 1: And the album's name, the reason why strategically placing power. Yes,
- 9:07Speaker 1: I loved it. Thank you. I'm glad you noticed.
- 9:09Speaker 2: Absolutely.
- 9:10Speaker 1: It's people and power. You've put those two words together.
- 9:14Speaker 1: And of course, we've heard it in different iterations in
- 9:16Speaker 1: our time. Power to the people.
- 9:17Speaker 2: Yes.
- 9:18Speaker 1: And that sort of thing. But people power.
- 9:19Speaker 4: Yes.
- 9:20Speaker 1: It seems like you are saying that there is. a
- 9:23Speaker 1: lot of connection and there's a lot of importance in
- 9:26Speaker 1: us leaning on one another as not only an individual
- 9:29Speaker 1: but as a nation because we are people through other people.
- 9:32Speaker 2: Thank you very much.
- 9:33Speaker 1: There's even a term we have in Xhosa, I like that.
- 9:36Speaker 2: I know that term. Of course you do.
- 9:39Speaker 1: That's it. And we have that. So is that where this,
- 9:42Speaker 1: is that the center of people power?
- 9:43Speaker 2: It 1000% comes from that. I've alluded to the fact
- 9:46Speaker 2: that I've gone on an individual journey.
- 9:49Speaker 1: Yes, you have.
- 9:50Speaker 2: And, and, And I believe that we all need to
- 9:52Speaker 2: do that. We all need to go through these journeys
- 9:55Speaker 2: of finding our voices and our purposes. But then we
- 9:57Speaker 2: come together as a collective. I mean, I grew up...
- 10:00Speaker 2: up in the 80s in a whole different South Africa
- 10:04Speaker 2: where the country was calling for change, you know, was
- 10:09Speaker 2: calling for freedom. And I remember being, as a very
- 10:12Speaker 2: small child, kind of being in... And this mass of
- 10:15Speaker 2: people moving and agitating and singing and dancing and calling
- 10:19Speaker 2: for change. And I have people in my family who
- 10:21Speaker 2: were in the struggle as well, you know, to end apartheid.
- 10:25Speaker 2: And it was that energy, that collective energy that brought
- 10:29Speaker 2: about the end of apartheid. It is very sad that
- 10:33Speaker 2: so many of our leaders of that struggle movement have
- 10:36Speaker 2: really betrayed the people. Many of them have betrayed us.
- 10:41Speaker 2: But that's not to say that we now We, Carl, you, me, Cassidy,
- 10:47Speaker 2: we can't use our voices for the good of this nation.
- 10:50Speaker 2: So this is what this album is about. It is
- 10:53Speaker 2: about us reclaiming our voices individually and collectively. That is
- 10:57Speaker 2: why it's called People Power.
- 10:58Speaker 1: And that's a beautiful, beautiful thing. And part of that
- 11:01Speaker 1: is also you putting you into this thing. You know,
- 11:04Speaker 1: I know that there's a lot of power to the people,
- 11:06Speaker 1: but I mean, there's also Zolani. And we need to
- 11:08Speaker 1: find out more about you and connect with you. So
- 11:11Speaker 1: Rosa Nostra, like you, there was like a thing in
- 11:14Speaker 1: there and I was like, yes. And then there's a
- 11:17Speaker 1: good time, which is a song that you're about to drop.
- 11:20Speaker 1: For the first time in South Africa, and it's going
- 11:23Speaker 1: to be a massive exclusive. But before we get to that,
- 11:26Speaker 1: I have some lingering questions that I've been asked to
- 11:28Speaker 1: ask you.
- 11:30Speaker 2: I'm ready to answer.
- 11:31Speaker 1: Are you sure? Yeah. They're kind of off the beaten track.
- 11:34Speaker 1: That's okay. Cassidy, if you have any as well, this
- 11:36Speaker 1: is the time before we get to the new single.
- 11:38Speaker 1: If you have any of those, but I'm going to
- 11:39Speaker 1: start off right.
- 11:40Speaker 2: Yeah, go for it.
- 11:40Speaker 1: I was asked, where's my... Where's my phone?
- 11:43Speaker 2: Oh my gosh.
- 11:43Speaker 1: Sorry. I was asked.
- 11:44Speaker 2: The fact that he has to read it.
- 11:45Speaker 1: No, no, because this just came through other people. It said,
- 11:49Speaker 1: all right, so call please Arsulani. Does she still have
- 11:53Speaker 1: Shakira's number? Yep. Yep. Absolutely.
- 11:55Speaker 2: I mean, I actually was talking to her just now.
- 11:58Speaker 2: You know, we just, we were just, no, I don't.
- 12:01Speaker 1: Have Shakira's number.
- 12:02Speaker 2: Neither have I ever had Shakira's number. No.
- 12:05Speaker 1: Oh. I love this. The giggle. No, but there's something more.
- 12:10Speaker 2: Is it a giggle or is it a cackle?
- 12:12Speaker 1: It's a both. It's a both.
- 12:13Speaker 2: It's whatever you want it to be.
- 12:14Speaker 1: There's tea there. Stop. There's tea there.
- 12:17Speaker 3: No, no, no.
- 12:17Speaker 1: I don't know what it is, right?
- 12:18Speaker 2: No, there's no tea.
- 12:18Speaker 4: Are you sure?
- 12:18Speaker 2: It's all on the floor. Okay, carry on. This is interesting, eh? Okay. Next.
- 12:28Speaker 1: Okay, next question. Do you want to go for it? Oh, okay.
- 12:31Speaker 3: I think this one's actually just coming from me. But
- 12:34Speaker 3: more so because I'm such a fan.
- 12:35Speaker 2: Ooh. bring it there was a dubstep remix yes of
- 12:39Speaker 2: one of your songs i'd like.
- 12:40Speaker 3: I think it was yes yes oh my how what
- 12:43Speaker 3: was like what was the reason behind that because i
- 12:45Speaker 3: mean i loved when like when my family goes away
- 12:47Speaker 3: the first thing they do is they put on your
- 12:49Speaker 3: music because it makes them feel like home right but
- 12:52Speaker 3: that was so interesting that little journey so what was
- 12:56Speaker 3: the reason behind.
- 12:57Speaker 2: I think that that was that might have been an
- 12:59Speaker 2: illegal remix No! Yes, yes. Because you were so aware
- 13:03Speaker 2: of it. Yeah, yeah. It took us a while to
- 13:06Speaker 2: be aware of it. But you know what? It was
- 13:08Speaker 2: cool because it exposed the song and the band to
- 13:12Speaker 2: a whole lot of other people who ordinarily wouldn't necessarily have...
- 13:16Speaker 2: Here it is.
- 13:17Speaker 1: Here it is. I loved it.
- 13:23Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 13:23Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
- 13:31Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 13:31Speaker 1: Yeah. The remix. The remix. So you said this was
- 13:40Speaker 1: an illegal one?
- 13:40Speaker 2: Yeah. I mean, that rocks. I really love it. But
- 13:45Speaker 2: you're so right.
- 13:47Speaker 3: The people that were listening to this were definitely.
- 13:49Speaker 2: Not listening to Instagram. And you put them on.
- 13:52Speaker 1: Yes. Wow.
- 13:54Speaker 2: Now they're like, whoa, that chorus, that is a hook.
- 13:57Speaker 1: Exactly.
- 13:57Speaker 2: So you don't mind a nice.
- 13:59Speaker 1: Sneaky remix every now and then, right?
- 14:02Speaker 4: No, no, no.
- 14:03Speaker 2: Listen now.
- 14:03Speaker 1: I'm just asking for a friend who likes yacht music.
- 14:06Speaker 1: Because you know that in Cape Town, we are all
- 14:08Speaker 1: subject to a bit of yacht remix. You know, when
- 14:10Speaker 1: you drop a song, they're like, I like this. I
- 14:11Speaker 1: need the stems. I want to make a yacht. Exactly.
- 14:14Speaker 1: So you find us remixes.
- 14:16Speaker 2: I mean, talk to me.
- 14:19Speaker 1: DM you and make it happen, right?
- 14:20Speaker 2: DM me. Let's go. Let's do it properly.
- 14:22Speaker 1: Yes. Okay. Totally. Otherwise, you end up with this.
- 14:29Speaker 3: I like.
- 14:30Speaker 1: Oh.
- 14:30Speaker 3: Oh. Oh, wow.
- 14:36Speaker 1: Good time okay so yeah.
- 14:38Speaker 4: That's see him i know he gets into it i
- 14:40Speaker 4: was fully immersed apologies kind of sexy girl thank you
- 14:43Speaker 4: very much i appreciate you all right so here's the
- 14:45Speaker 4: thing okay last question from this is from my side
- 14:49Speaker 4: um there were these these textures in your career and
- 14:52Speaker 4: these textures had you alongside stevie wonder now.
- 14:56Speaker 2: My hero my hero that's my idol.
- 14:59Speaker 1: Ribbons in the Sky is one of my favorite songs
- 15:02Speaker 1: in the entire. So I just wanted to ask you
- 15:03Speaker 1: from a fan of Stevie Wonder and a fan of
- 15:05Speaker 1: Zolani at the same time. My head would explode if
- 15:07Speaker 1: you were in the same room at the same time.
- 15:08Speaker 1: But like, how was... How was that? How easy?
- 15:12Speaker 2: Full disclosure, we never actually had a conversation, but I
- 15:15Speaker 2: was at his piano and I was singing along.
- 15:19Speaker 1: At his piano?
- 15:21Speaker 2: Listen, touching his piano while he was actually actively playing it.
- 15:24Speaker 2: So I did die. I did die.
- 15:26Speaker 1: I would too.
- 15:27Speaker 2: I did die. And we were singing happy birthday to
- 15:29Speaker 2: Madiba and one of the 46664s in New York City
- 15:33Speaker 2: at Radio City Music Hall. And can I just tell
- 15:37Speaker 2: you that I also was in the elevator with Miss
- 15:39Speaker 2: Aretha Franklin at that same event. Diva, come on. And
- 15:43Speaker 2: I did not say a peep because it was Aretha Franklin.
- 15:46Speaker 1: Did you?
- 15:47Speaker 2: It was Aretha Franklin.
- 15:49Speaker 1: You know what I said to her? What would you
- 15:50Speaker 1: have said? Hi, ma'am. How do you spell respect? Asking
- 15:55Speaker 1: for a friend.
- 15:56Speaker 4: Oh, Mr.
- 15:57Speaker 2: Wastedy.
- 15:58Speaker 1: Sorry, what? Say it again.
- 16:00Speaker 2: I think she just slapped you.
- 16:02Speaker 1: Yes, I know. Sorry. I'd do the same thing with
- 16:05Speaker 1: Gwen Stefani, by the way. How do you spell bananas? Exactly.
- 16:08Speaker 1: Oh my God. So now that we've, I just had
- 16:11Speaker 1: to clear that up and now we can talk about
- 16:13Speaker 1: a track because it's been a good time having you
- 16:15Speaker 1: back in studio. And long shall it continue, by the way,
- 16:18Speaker 1: because we should. But a good time. Set the scene
- 16:22Speaker 1: for us before we play this track as an exclusive
- 16:24Speaker 1: on the Flash Drive. Zolani Mahola. Complete exclusive.
- 16:26Speaker 2: This was the first song that I worked on with
- 16:28Speaker 2: my producer, Hannah Vee. who is a Grammy-nominated producer who
- 16:32Speaker 2: has produced my entire album. This was the first session
- 16:36Speaker 2: that we had together. And I went into the studio
- 16:38Speaker 2: and I had this chorus that was running in my
- 16:40Speaker 2: head for a long time. And it was just, you
- 16:42Speaker 2: picked a good time to meet me. I just want
- 16:45Speaker 2: to love you sweetly. So we went into the studio
- 16:47Speaker 2: and Manga K was also there. Arona Levy, who actually
- 16:50Speaker 2: started Freshly Ground back in 2001. We together wrote this song,
- 16:55Speaker 2: this banger, A Good Time. And it's a sexy song.
- 16:58Speaker 1: It is really. I picture.
- 17:00Speaker 2: It is a sexy song. It's a very sexy song
- 17:02Speaker 2: because I'm ready to be sexy, guys. At 45 years old,
- 17:06Speaker 2: I am now ready to be sexy so your applications
- 17:10Speaker 2: can come into Zolani Mahola across all platforms.
- 17:15Speaker 1: Are you inviting DMs?
- 17:16Speaker 2: I mean, kind of. I'm free now. I'm single.
- 17:19Speaker 1: 23 plus tax is what I am. Ah!
- 17:25Speaker 2: You heard it here first.
- 17:27Speaker 1: Honestly, a good time is the first single. Next one's
- 17:29Speaker 1: called Swipe Right. You can.
- 17:36Speaker 1: I'm looking forward to People Power. I cannot wait until
- 17:38Speaker 1: this drops officially. You can't give us an idea of
- 17:40Speaker 1: like where in 2027 we can expect the full project
- 17:43Speaker 1: to drop?
- 17:44Speaker 2: Early-ish, but I don't want to say so because I
- 17:46Speaker 2: would like to encourage people to please go and follow
- 17:50Speaker 2: on all my socials, Zolani Maol, and also on all
- 17:53Speaker 2: the streaming platforms where you listen to music. It means
- 17:55Speaker 2: a great deal to all artists. Now things have changed
- 17:58Speaker 2: so radically, you know, the way that music is consumed,
- 18:01Speaker 2: the way that artists earn. that it's such a business thing,
- 18:04Speaker 2: the numbers. Please follow, follow, follow, and then you'll be
- 18:07Speaker 2: the first to know.
- 18:08Speaker 1: And you know what? I think let's just strengthen that
- 18:10Speaker 1: for a second because I think what's very important is
- 18:12Speaker 1: those pre-saves allow you to land onto a bunch of
- 18:15Speaker 1: different of these radar playlists. And it exposes our artists
- 18:20Speaker 1: to international connections. And that's what we need because that's
- 18:23Speaker 1: how we can start generating international tours, how we can
- 18:26Speaker 1: start generating more people to consume the music. And the
- 18:29Speaker 1: only way we can do that is that when you
- 18:30Speaker 1: hear that radio interview, when you see that artist posting,
- 18:34Speaker 1: this is coming out soon, the first thing that I
- 18:37Speaker 1: want you to do is to pre-save and even actually
- 18:39Speaker 1: create a story of you pre-saving so that your following
- 18:42Speaker 1: in turn says, why are you pre-saving this? And say like,
- 18:45Speaker 1: you better get into it because when it drops, you're
- 18:47Speaker 1: going to love it. Like that's where we need more
- 18:49Speaker 1: of that culture of actually developing our music industry because
- 18:54Speaker 1: it's in our hands. The power is with the people
- 18:56Speaker 1: who consume the music.
- 18:57Speaker 2: I've just got one thing to say, swipe right.
- 19:00Speaker 1: Oh!
- 19:00Speaker 2: Swipe right.
- 19:02Speaker 1: That sounds like a good time. It sounds like a
- 19:05Speaker 1: really good time.
- 19:06Speaker 4: Woo!
- 19:07Speaker 1: Okay. Why am I sweating? I tell you what. You
- 19:13Speaker 1: will get, okay, now Cassidy knows I do this, but
- 19:15Speaker 1: I will give you the song as an exclusive right
- 19:19Speaker 1: after we tap into some news and sport. I know, Cassidy,
- 19:23Speaker 1: you've got some details on the road.
- 19:24Speaker 4: I do.
- 19:24Speaker 1: And then we'll give you the official exclusive of A
- 19:27Speaker 1: Good Time, Zolano Mohola's new project, People Power, coming soon.
- 19:31Speaker 1: Consume the music. And may I just also add that
- 19:34Speaker 1: if you find Cosa Nostra on your streaming platform, add
- 19:37Speaker 1: that too. Oh my gosh.
- 19:38Speaker 2: And Where You Are, the single that I just dropped
- 19:41Speaker 2: with Zakes Bandwini. Yes.
- 19:42Speaker 1: You just dropped that. But how is it that I
- 19:44Speaker 1: played that twice already on my chart show?
- 19:46Speaker 2: I literally I literally just dropped that I also dropped
- 19:48Speaker 2: that track called Amakosa I mean it's like guys just
- 19:51Speaker 2: if you're not following already why not exactly where have
- 19:54Speaker 2: you been.
- 19:54Speaker 3: You're missing oh Jolie stop can you just imagine if
- 19:58Speaker 3: I had both of those songs ready for a snippet like.
- 20:04Speaker 1: This is where you are It just sounds like summer.
- 20:23Speaker 1: It sounds like we're going to have a great summer.
- 20:26Speaker 1: It also sounds like summer.
- 20:28Speaker 2: Oh, you know, multiple summer, multiple summer.
- 20:32Speaker 1: It does. And don't worry, because the thing is, because
- 20:35Speaker 1: I'm a fan of yours, I make it my business
- 20:37Speaker 1: to receive all songs. So... Cassidy. Janice, this is one.
- 20:49Speaker 4: Joe.
- 20:50Speaker 3: Joe.
- 20:50Speaker 1: Joe. I will. I will. Woo!
- 21:01Speaker 3: There's no difference in the voice, even when it's live
- 21:04Speaker 3: and in concert.
- 21:08Speaker 1: Honestly, you're listening to the ruler of hula. That's what
- 21:12Speaker 1: you're doing right now.
- 21:13Speaker 2: Live and in concert. 4K, y'all.
- 21:17Speaker 1: All right. So you've got some homework to do for Zolani.
- 21:20Speaker 1: And in the next couple of minutes, you'll hear a
- 21:21Speaker 1: good time. This is your flash drive. It's KFM 94.5.
- 21:25Speaker 1: And this is a brand new project. So People Power
- 21:28Speaker 1: is coming to you in 2027. Don't miss it. But
- 21:30Speaker 1: in the meantime, follow, follow, swipe, DM, support the music.
- 21:36Speaker 2: Slide.
- 21:39Speaker 1: Hell yeah. And the person. Oh, my dear. Too much. Okay, sorry.
- 21:43Speaker 1: We'll retract that. Over to Cassidy. Are you going to
- 21:46Speaker 1: be able to do some traffic after all of that
- 21:47Speaker 1: excitement right now? I will do my best. Okay, good. Okay,
- 21:56Speaker 1: that song obviously just sounded like so much fun to record,
- 21:59Speaker 1: number one.
- 21:59Speaker 2: It was so much fun.
- 22:01Speaker 1: And also, what are you saying? You picked a good
- 22:04Speaker 1: time to meet me.
- 22:05Speaker 2: Yes.
- 22:05Speaker 1: Yes. Yes. Why would you say that? You know why
- 22:10Speaker 1: I say it? I need to hear this.
- 22:12Speaker 2: I say it because, you know, we're always changing as
- 22:15Speaker 2: human beings. And I think that is one of the
- 22:17Speaker 2: invitations of life is that we we do transform and
- 22:21Speaker 2: become more and more and more of ourselves. Yes. And
- 22:26Speaker 2: so I think in this time and space, somebody would
- 22:28Speaker 2: be very lucky to meet me as I am in
- 22:30Speaker 2: this now.
- 22:31Speaker 1: Yeah. Of course.
- 22:32Speaker 4: In it.
- 22:34Speaker 1: I believe this wholeheartedly. I know people have believed it
- 22:36Speaker 1: as well. The message has come through. This is fire.
- 22:39Speaker 3: Fire.
- 22:40Speaker 2: There's no doubt.
- 22:44Speaker 1: Fire. Yeah. Yes. Zolana, you want to be sexy. Oh,
- 22:49Speaker 1: this is sexy. Should we leave? Carl, was that you? No, no, no.
- 22:56Speaker 1: That was the gentleman's real voice. I have to put
- 22:59Speaker 1: it on. All right, I'm sorry.
- 23:00Speaker 2: That was kind of cool. I mean, I'm into it.
- 23:03Speaker 1: Dear person. You know what to do. Her DMs are open.
- 23:10Speaker 2: Oh, my Lord.
- 23:11Speaker 1: Do that information what you will. That song, all right,
- 23:13Speaker 1: that song is available for you to slide into.
- 23:18Speaker 2: Near what?
- 23:19Speaker 1: On Friday. Yeah, so we can go to your profile
- 23:24Speaker 1: and we can pre-save there, right? Is that where it is?
- 23:26Speaker 2: The answer to that question is yes.
- 23:28Speaker 1: Yes.
- 23:29Speaker 2: Yes, that is a definite yes.
- 23:31Speaker 1: Yeah, of course.
- 23:31Speaker 2: Yes, obviously.
- 23:32Speaker 1: Yeah, because... Because that's where you go. That's obviously when
- 23:36Speaker 1: you pre-save something.
- 23:37Speaker 2: If that is right. Zolani Maola.
- 23:39Speaker 4: Yes.
- 23:40Speaker 1: Go there.
- 23:40Speaker 2: Just go there.
- 23:40Speaker 1: Or you can go onto the page. You can go
- 23:43Speaker 1: onto the page on your streaming platform and then find
- 23:46Speaker 1: Zorani Mahola. That's what you must do. And that's where
- 23:49Speaker 1: you can pre-save. And then on Friday, I can skirt Mahola.
