Transcript
- M2: Hello everyone and welcome back to another episode of Sister Sisters. M1: Welcome back. M2: Today we are talking about one of Disney's most interesting and exciting unsolved mysteries. M1: This is something we've been teasing, discussing for so long. It is the disappearance of Buzzy, an animatronic from an old attraction at Epcot. M2: There is so much lore behind this. Lore that we referenced in previous episodes, Hoot Hive. There's so much to cover. Honestly, I'm so excited for this. So let's dive straight into it. Just kidding. I have so much to talk about about the fact that I'm missing fall and it's I'm like perseverating on the fact that I've missed an entire season of my life. M1: Guys, here's what's happening. Mouselit 2 was going to Olani at the end of September. So M2: This is not M1: as the rest of us in New England, New England lore in the Northeast were transitioning out of summer and into the lovely vibes of fall, Mauslit 2 sort of needed to extend her summer tropical vibes a little longer because she was about to go to Hawaii. And so by the time she got back, when did she get back? October something. M2: Like a week and a half ago, which is insane. M1: Yeah, and it was like October, let's say, fifth. She then realized that she sort of missed fall and that Christmas is gonna start November first and she has very, very limited fall time. M2: Well, you know what? I don't support Christmas starting at November first. Halloween and fall are two different things. Are you hitting? Yeah, there, of course. Halloween and fall are different things. Okay. Halloween, I'm not even a Halloween girl. I'm a fall girl. I'm I don't really honestly I don't really like identify with the Halloween that much. Like it's fun. It's fun, but I prefer no. M1: I don't either. We're not we're not huge Halloween people. M2: anyway, so I feel like I missed fall. And then I was like, it's also weird that I was only in Disneyland for the fall. And I was starting to think about what and I just posted about this on our page because I posted a a video when we were at Wilderness Lodge staying in a cabin. And I thought, what is like the quintessential Fall Disney trip? And I want to hear your answer. And I I wanna say my answer as well. So M1: I would say that this is the quintessential, like ideal, no budget Fall Disney trip. Okay, like M2: Ours is probably exactly the same. M1: yeah. Well of course it's staying at Wilderness Lodge. Is it yours? Yeah, it could be Fort Wilderness. M2: But it also could be Fort Wilderness Campground. Mine is Wilderness Lodge, just 'cause that's where we stay in the fall, but we'll ki the campground is a very strong option as well for me. M1: I agree. The campground also was fun because people decorate, which is like M2: Yeah. M1: a very fun thing to get to see. We got to see some of the decorations that were like Christmas time. We weren't there at Halloween, but it is like a really fun vibe over there. But in general, a woodsy, cozy cabin energy is definitely what I'm looking for. I also remember probably like two years ago now, being like trying to plan my outfits and just being like, I just want to wear like fall clothes to Disney. Unfortunately, in September, Disney is still roasting hot. By the time you get to October, end of October, like maybe you're gonna get some like cooler evenings. But in my mind, in my heart, I'm in like jeans. M2: Well, we just like look better in genes and that's just a fact about us. Yeah. Wilderness lodge. I'm getting a lion latte from Animal Kingdom. M1: Wow, you love that latte. That is like the most random latte to me. Yeah. No, that is some M2: Me and mom love it. It's so good. M1: like. M2: No, it is. It's at I honestly, M1: The Lion Latte. M2: it's like it's probably like the Malva cake. It's probably another thing that's been snatched away from me from Animal Kingdom. But if you see a lion latte, it's M1: I don't think it's gonna stick around forever, but you love that thing. M2: hot and it's so good. Yeah, for me, it's like wilderness lodge, getting breakfast from the Roaring Fork, a crisp, like Florida morning, not too crisp, but like just crisp enough, heading to Magic. M1: B Haddington Magic being on the water with like on the boat, M2: On the boat, yes. M1: very fall vibes to me. M2: Foggy, misty, but also perfectly sunny outside. M1: Yep, a hundred percent. Then getting like a caramel apple to me Halloween caramel M2: Yes. M1: apples equal Halloween to me, that is very f M2: Popcorn with purple and brown and orange MMs at the confectionery. Eating at Sleepy Hollow. M1: Mm-hmm. They always have such good Halloween treats in general. Yes. Sleepy M2: Yes. M1: Hollow for sure. M2: It's kind of seeing the pumpkins. May may or may not go to not so scary, but like knowing that it's coming is kind of a part of the vibe. joking about Jack Skellington, like this is all part of my perfect fall. We didn't do it this year, which actually is fine, I think, because it's gonna make it more special next year when we actually will do it. So another thing I'm I need to get back on my soapbox about like I love that Disney so impressively transforms from Halloween to Christmas overnight, but like I am not ready for Christmas and I'm not ready to see any of the Christmas merchandise that's out, of which there is some. M1: Here's what's hard for Disney. People are preparing to go on a trip, right? So right now, the people who are going on a trip in a month or two during the holidays are in their like most excited time. And they may be like, my gosh, I'm going for Christmas. I want Christmas years. I want a Christmas shirt. So like Disney has to have Christmas merch out before the season starts for the people who are going. But it is really odd to have Christmas merch out right now. Like Halloween hasn't even happened. Parks are decorated for Halloween. Like it I don't know. I don't really have a good suggestion for them on it, but M2: I think they have to do it, but I'm just like, well like, I don't know. I don't know. So those are my thoughts. M1: Yeah. M2: I just feel like fall is like slipping away from me. It's October fifteenth, the date you're listening to this. Halloween is in sixteen days, like M1: That's insane to me and I have no idea what the Micklet should be. Any suggestions? I want a really cute Disney themed Halloween costume that me and Valsi and the Micklet can do together. M2: Pooh or maybe it should be kanga and roo. That would be cute. M1: And Malsa C is? M2: Rabbit. my god, my god, my god, wait, wait. Okay. Piglet. Describe Piglet. Did you see this? Okay. Dis M1: Nope. Did I see what? M2: the Yeah, great. Perfect. Describe Piglet. M1: A small pink pig with stripes and arms and legs. M2: Is it okay, stripes. What of what are the stripes? M1: His body has stripes on them. M2: Okay, just learned. And I thought the same that's his that he's wearing a sweater. Those that's not that dark pink thing is not his body. It's a sweater. I was like, No, it is, it is. And you can literally see in the M1: No it's not M2: pool movie, there's four of those sweaters hanging up on Piclet's clothes line. M1: Okay, so Piglet. What does Piglet look like without the sweater? M2: Just a nude all pink. All pink. All pink. Yeah, that's a sweater. And then M1: okay. M2: someone's like, Have you ever met Piglet in like the parks? Like it's very obvious that's a sweater. I'm like, that is the least obvious thing I've ever seen M1: It's not obvious to me at all. M2: in my entire life. Yeah, that thing's a sweater. M1: Piglet without his sweater. Let's see what M2: How I began. M1: comes up. Okay, no. Okay. Nothing. Literally like nothing. but I do M2: Piglet in Disney World. M1: see Piglet with all of his sweaters on the clothing line. M2: I didn't see it. But I will say I'm looking at a picture of him and he is wearing in the parks, he does have a turtleneck as a part of that sweater. M1: Well, okay. I mean, I guess I actually can picture the turtleneck, but I always was just kinda like they're taking liberties with the costume, like yeah, like M2: It's a part of his body, like ew, of actual picture of actual piglets came up. Okay. Yeah, insane. I don't know why that came up. right, for the costumes. Yeah, crazy. M1: Okay, well everybody in the comments, if you have ideas for like a mother father with a baby boy costume, he'll be like almost nine months old. I am looking for ideas. But M2: Here's an easy one. Jack, Jack, Mr. and Mrs. Incredible. M1: Yeah, I like thought about that. He would be cute as Jack Jack because he's like bald. okay, that being said, we have actually so much news that we need to discuss, so we need to get into the news segment. First one makes me sad. Did you see this? M2: Do do do y yes, and I have thoughts. M1: So in World Celebration, which is the new like central area of Epcot, we were there right after it opened. And one of the things that I distinctly remember is the ground had these like fiber optic lights, not even fiber optic, like literal like bars of light going through it. And they glowed, M2: Yeah, L E Dish. M1: yeah, and they lit up different colors. And it was so cool. I remember sitting there watching the ball like do its like. little show thing with the those light up lit up and it was such a vibe. And apparently they've had issues like since it opened and they are now officially being replaced with pavement. No more lights in the grass. M2: They have been replaced and it does look better because they were broken and like sticking out and looked bad. But I'm just like, guys, the fiber optic was such a l those little squares are such an iconic part of Epcot. I'm just like, really? M1: It's like you couldn't M2: Yeah, I don't know. M1: get the technology working. M2: Okay, next up. This is kind of niche. And this is like niche enough that like if you're listening to this, you actually should know about this. And maybe you do, but I know some people must not. At Animal Kingdom, as you're walking towards Pandora, there's a restaurant on the right called Tiffin's. It's a great restaurant. Kind of pricey, but like really good food. And I would say if you're looking for like kind of a special thing and you like the menu, like to try it out. Next to that is a lounge called Nomad Lounge, which is it's like a bar. I guess you could call it a bar, but it's like more of like a lounge vibe than that. And it's such a vibe. They have this amazingly themed indoor area with these like draped canopies and all these little traveler stories. And the outside is this wraparound balcony with views of the water. We love Nomad Lounge. Love it. M1: And Nomad Lounge, like every lounge potentially at Disney, is a walk-up list. You walk up and you get on the list and you know you can go do something else in the park while you wait, and it's great. Nomad Lounge is going to start being a reservation place. So if the reservations aren't full, then you could do the walk-up list. But Nomad Lounge is pretty popular, so the reservations will be full. For me, I don't love this, I have to say. Like Nomad Lounge and lounges in general are not the type of thing that I necessarily want to schedule. It's more like midday, I'm like, you what, we need a break. Like what should we do? And it's like, M2: Yeah. M1: my gosh, let's go to Nomad Lounge. We'll sit outside. We'll have, M2: Let's pop in. M1: yeah, we'll have a snack, we'll have a drink and just relax. It's really not, it's not a meal. So it's not the type of thing I want to reserve and be like, okay, we'll have lunch at 12 or whatever. So I'm kind of bummed about this, I have to say. M2: Trying to like understand what is the motivation for Disney to do this. Is it because it's not popular enough or is it because it's too popular? My mind is it's pop not popular enough. I feel like we can M1: I see, I thought it was 'cause it was too popular. M2: I feel like we can always go up there and get a walk up. And it's M1: But I feel like reservations would make it even less popular. M2: No, it would make more popular. People would see it on the app and say, I can go to this place. Where it's like sort of, I feel like it's like an if you know, you know thing. I don't know. I M1: Yeah, I guess. M2: love Nomad Lounge, so maybe we should do a post about it. okay. This next one is just like kind of interesting. I have not read the patent, let it be known. But Disney has filed a patent that would automatically detect and remove background crowds from photos. Okay. Literally, like if you're standing in front of the castle, Photopass takes a picture. It would use, I would assume. Generative AI, however, unconfirmed, but that's like my assumption. I'm pretty sure that's what it would do to fill it in. As someone who has Adobe Lightroom, they change their tool from being like a background remover to like a generative AI background remover. And like that's just like that's what you get with that tool now. It's okay. Sometimes it's great. And sometimes like it like puts like a giant like teapot or like a big. orange like blob like sometimes it stinks. So I think this is interesting and I and I don't know if we're M1: Stinks. M2: technology is ready yet that they can get this. And if Disney can do this, then why can't Adobe? You know? M1: Yeah, also I'm surprised that they can file a patent for this because again, other places are already doing this. So I'm wondering like what's so unique about their patent. But one time, guys, last Christmas when we were there, Photopass took a picture of me, mouse lit to mouse lit A and Mouse Lit C. And again, we use Lightroom to edit our pictures. And that, you know, crowd remover was an option. And so when you do it, it like selects all the people it's going to remove and is like confirm. And it tried to remove mouse lit C. It was literally the four of us up front in the photo and like a couple people behind. And it tried to remove the couple people behind plus mouse. Let's see. M2: We were side by side, literally all next to each other. So M1: All touching. M2: obviously, if you guys don't know Mouse Let's see, Mouse One's husband, he is a Filipino and we are all Caucasian. And clearly there is a little bit of something, something, or there was, M1: Yeah. M2: because there's no other reason. He was like in the middle of the photo, like he was on the end of it, but still, Mouse Leday wasn't removed. M1: Yeah, it made no sense. Yeah, it made no sense. Like you can't so anyways, this you know, again, that was a year ago, but like this really would need to be button up. You can't accidentally remove people who are supposed to be in the picture. And also you can't like remove someone and yeah, replace it with like a teapot. Like, I don't know. M2: Like I guess that they probably can do something where they literally load into this thing every single view that they have of M1: Yeah, pictures of what it should look like. M2: like, yeah, but okay, the last kind of pieces of news, it's a big one, but the last pieces of news is about the Disney cruise ships. And I wanna sort of say, because I know as an avid podcast listener to a few that if they sometimes talk about a topic, I'm like, snooze, but like cruise, 'cause I just used to never cruise. And I know a lot of people don't. What I would say about what's exciting about this is that the cruise ships in my mind are like a like a test pit, like a area where they can test out things for the parks and where Disney is able to be in some ways, and we'll talk about it. You'll kind of hear why, but in some ways, be their most creative. And so that's why some of this stuff is exciting. We also have thoughts on it. We'll try not to like dive deep. I we'll get to Buzzy because there's a lot to say there. I want to start with a little piece. There's a new cruise ship coming to Japan the first time. It's called The Imagination. Love that name. I think that's a really good name for it. And I bet it's gonna be great. I hope it doesn't follow the same sort of same suit as The Adventure, which if you're in the cruise ship lore, that was like a ship that Disney bought that was half finished and it's just like very different. And like I think it sells out of Singapore. It's like not my M1: I don't think it's gonna be like the adventure. And I also hope that it's M2: I don't think it will either. M1: not. but yeah, it is going to be a Japan-specific ship and it is being done in partnership with why do I want to say that the name of the company is Oriental Trading Company, which is a magazine from when we were children that we were talking about in the Peach and Pit Cruise segment of this, but I swear it's something the name that Disney's partnering with is something like that. Maybe I'm making that up and the magazine name is just stuck in my head. M2: Oriental land company? M1: is it that? Anyways, guys, they're partnering. But the big news, M2: Yeah, I think it is. It's not oriental trading. M1: the big news that we are over a week late on. So I don't want to like stay too long on this, but I do want to share some of our thoughts is that we finally got the announcements on the Disney Believe. So this is the new cruise ship. Some sort of key details that the maiden voyage will be December 18th of 2027. Bookings for it actually start in like four days, October 19th of this year is when you can start booking. It will be sailing out of Fort Lauderdale. So not the Orlando port of Fort Port Canaveral. that follows like the same suit as the Destiny. And it will have four and five night sailings to the Caribbean and the Bahamas, going to like Castaway Key and Lookout. But this is going to be the fourth ship in the Wish class. There's the Wish, the Treasure, the Destiny, and now the Believe. And they are all like the same layout, just with different themes. So we found out a bunch about, I think there's going to be one more. Or maybe this is the last. M2: Is there four or five for the wish class? Okay, that's what I thought too. Well, the grand hall will be inspired by Moana, which I think is pretty cool. So the Destiny is inspired by Wakanda Black Panther. Is that right? M1: Yeah. Mm-hmm. M2: And then the wish is inspired by Cinderella and the treasure is inspired by I think Aladdin and Jasmine. Yeah. M1: Yeah, the the concept art of the chandelier is really cool to me. Like I love the chandelier and the treasure. The concept art of the Moana one kind of looks like the ocean water, like glowy vibe of that Moana has. I hope that they execute it because it looks amazing. M2: Agreed. the the biggest things that I think we should kind of touch on with this is what are the restaurants, what are the lounges, and then what are like the shows and things. While there's other details, these are kind of the big things and these are the reasons, these are the I would say within the same class of these ships, these are the differentiators. Because a lot of it's pretty similar. The rooms look similar, like you know, but this is sort of what expands beyond it. So all of these ships thus far have A restaurant called 1923, which is kind of think of like a Hollywood Studios Brown Derby Walton Roy theme. We love this restaurant. They have a world of Marvel, which is looks identical, but there's like a different story going on. And then The Wish has a frozen restaurant. The treasure has a cocoa restaurant, and The Destiny has a Lion King restaurant. And those all have a performance. So we got the update of what the restaurants are. Okay. People were pretty like surprised me, like really Marvel in nineteen twenty three again. I'm like, but it's the same wish c like ship class. Like it makes that doesn't surprise me. M1: Yep. People that is not surprising. Mm. I have a lot of thoughts about what yeah. M2: Okay. The restaurant that they're doing again is frozen. It's like a slightly different story featuring Oaken, although I will say Oaken is like heavily featured in my opinion in the first one. M1: Yeah, wait, I was gonna say, in the Wish one, it's Arendelle and it's like an engagement party for Kristoff and Anna. But Oaken is actually extremely heavily featured. This new one is Oaken's, but it's gonna be like traditional Scandinavian, like cottage rustic vibe rather than like a palacey engagement party. But still, I'm like M2: People are M1: Oaken is about. M2: I think that the biggest thing, and this is where like the difference between like media influencer and like the casual guest is that Frozen is like a insanely popular franchise and Frozen 3 is coming out. So I'm like, well, it may of course they're doing that. Because it's Frozen Three is coming out and people are love Frozen and are obsessed with it. And I bet that they did research what's the most popular? Cocoa, which i is the best in my opinion, Lion King or Frozen, and I bet All the kids are obsessed with frozen and they get to go to the bippity buppity boutique. So, like it makes sense. It's just not something I want specifically. That's our least M1: Yeah. M2: favorite restaurant. M1: Yeah, it is. What to the point that like we would like to skip it when we go on the wish again in December. M2: Potentially. I actually think I do want to go there, but M1: okay, next moving on to the themed lounges. So each ship has a central open lounge on the wish. It's Tiana's Bayou. On the treasure, it's Skipper Society, which is themed after Jungle Cruise. It's so good. And on the Destiny, it's the Sanctum, themed after Doctor Strange. On this new one, it is going to be the wishing well inspired by Snow White. This to me, so I said this in a video that I made. There are some IPs that Mouse 2 and I have talked about. Disney kind of just it like they really hammer it, right? Like it is everywhere. Honestly, Frozen is kind of one of those. To me, Snow White is not one of those. Like M2: Okay, I was gonna say, Snow White in my mind is not one of those. I was worried you were about M1: No. M2: to say it was. M1: No, no. I don't think Snow White is one of those. I think Snow White is actually like a more unique IP to use. It just isn't something that makes me be like, I have to book this shit. M2: Here you what what I'll say about this without going into too much detail, but on the wish, which is like I live on the wish. How many times have I been on the wish? Just twice? It feels like so many more. I don't know. That's two. M1: Three, three. I thought it was three. No, it's two. Nope, it's two. This will be the third. M2: I I mean two ti yeah, I like the wish a lot. I love the treasure, but on the wish, Tiana's Bayou is like I l I love Tiana. Princess and the Frog is one of my favorite Disney movies. And it doesn't give Tiana's Bayou enough to I'm just like, meh. But Skipper Society on the treasure gives like perfection. And the sanctum is really cool too. So, like this, I'm like, what way are they gonna lean? And I fear they'll lean Tiana's bayou then I won't be oppressed. But if they lean the other way and they go deep into it, I think it'll be really good. They're also bringing back the haunted mansion lounge. I know some people are disappointed in this. I think this is smart. People love this. This makes sense to have it on multiple ships. So like I don't have an issue with this. Do you? M1: No, I think the Haunted Mansion bar is amazing and for more people to get to experience it is really fun. Personally, would I rather have something new? Yes, but like I understand why Disney is doing it the way that they did. then for the piano bar, I was like getting confused for the piano bar on The Wish, it's Cinderella themed. On The Treasure, it's Aristacats themed, which I love. On The Destiny, it's DeVils featuring Cruella. It's supposed to be amazing. On the new ship, it's under the sea, like Little Mermaid. I have to say, once again, this just feels kind of uninspired to me. There is so much Little Mermaid stuff. Like I do not personally feel super excited about another Little Mermaid experience. M2: kind of get behind it for that piano bar. Honestly, I know that there's been one time that we had like a great vibe in the piano bar and I think it must have been the Arista cats on the on the treasure. Okay. M1: It was the arrested cate it was the arrest to cats. M2: Nightingales is like meh to me. Nightingales like doesn't I'm just like for this entire thing, at the end of the day you're kind of like popping into a bar and that's it's what it is. And I'll add on saying that the Wish made a big mistake with their other bar because it's just like a generic themed bar. It's not not themed at all. M1: The yeah, there's like a sports bar in each ship. There, I looked it up the other day. There's literally called Kagan Compass. It like isn't a theme. It's just like a sports M2: But then M1: bar. M2: the treasure is themed as twenty thousand leagues under the sea. Subtle, but like in a really fun way, which I loved. I don't know what the destiny is themed, if I'm being honest. M1: It's it's pirates themed and you know, I'm anti pirates, but I th I I get that. M2: But but I support that. And what's this one? M1: This one is Sky Gazers and it's about M2: right. M1: Disney characters who like look to the stars and there's it's like constellations themed and there's supposed to be touches to characters who are like looking to the scars, stars and making wishes. I think that they could this could be really cool, or it could be like kind of a nothing, and I'm hoping that it's really cool. M2: I think they're kind of taking what what it was wrong with the wish and like kind of refining in some ways, but this ship feels most similar to me to the wish. It's like it feels like they're it's like a wish point too. M1: A hundred percent. the theaters are the last like big thing. I think that they this was a great move by them. Basically, M2: Yeah. Agreed. M1: the treasure and the destiny each have the wish not so much, but the treasure and the destiny each have like a new big stage show. On the treasure, it's Moana, it's the best Disney stage show we've like ever seen. And on the Destin M2: It's the best show I think I've ever seen. M1: Yeah. And on the Destiny it's Hercules, which is also supposed to be really good. M2: Hercules. Yeah. M1: the one coming to The Believe is in Kanto, which I think is so fun and going to be incredible. And then they are also bringing a tangled musical that's on one of the older ships and kind of revamping it and bringing it. I think that those are going to be really good. Those are things that I would potentially sail on the Belief to see. Like I think those would be worth it. M2: Agreed. In general, yeah, we have a cruise coming up in December. We have another trip before that. So we will get into kind of more cruise stuff at some point. If you've never been on a cruise, follow along when we go on ours. See if it's something to be interested in. I personally thought I would never go on one. And then here I am now about to go on my fourth cruise, third on third on the wish. but now it is time to get into our main segment. We're discussing the case of the missing animatronic buzzy. As I said at the beginning, there is so much lore. We're gonna literally take you through a timeline. It's actually crazy. And where we're at like today in twenty twenty six when we are recording this is also kind of crazy. So Mouse One kick it off with a with a little intro. M1: So in October of 1989, the Wonders of Life Pavilion opens at Apcot. This is their pavilion sponsored by MetLife, all about the body, with a bunch of interesting things inside. But one of those is a show called Cranium Command, which like takes you into the brain of like a 12-year-old or something like that. Buzzy, who to me is a bee. Like when I look at Buzzy, to me, Buzzy is a bee, but I think Buzzy is a small human, a small, a small Being. I don't think he's a B. But just know that to in my heart, Buzzy's a B. Anyways, Buzzy is the star animatronic, and he's sitting up, sort of raised up in the show in this hydraulic like pilot seat, sort of, you know, piloting the thing that's going through the kid's brain. And this is important to know, okay? He's a 300-pound mechanical, like robot animatronic, and he's wearing a bomber jacket, a hat. and rubber gloves and he has like big glasses. Okay. This is like the iconic buzzy look. and another important thing to sort of set the scene for our story is that he cost around $250,000 to make, which would be like $400 to $600,000 today. M2: If my video just glitched and you're watching a video, sorry. Buzzy is the size of a washing machine slash like a dishwasher, just to kind of like put it into context. He's huge. He looks very small. Here's another example. One of my favorites. If you've ever driven on a road and looked up at a traffic light, you probably thought that it's kind of small. You're like, yeah, a little tr a little traffic light. It's huge. Okay. It is like half the size of like a A tall man. Like it is a giant thing. And just because it's higher up, it's so deceiving of how big it actually is. so yeah, Wonders of Life was open for many years. It started to sort of dwindle down from popularity. MetLife ended up dropping its sponsorship around 2004. By 2007, the pavilion closed permanently. It had already been on like a seasonal status, but it officially permanently closed. And as we know, Disney, when they permanently close something, sometimes they don't always have like an actionable plan. River Country is such a good example of this. Disney closed it. They actually did have some sort of plans and works at these other resorts. Maybe we'll do a deep dive on that, but they didn't do anything with it because they just know that they're closing it because it's financially not viable for whatever reason. And they're not going to instantly be like, let's get to work. Not always. Okay, sometimes, but not always. And so it closed. But they were able to use some of the pavilion. So they actually repurposed the main floor, which cause it is just in a big dome as a festival center, starting with for food and wine, and then it actually ended up becoming a festival center for more and more events. So that main M1: We s we We iconically saw an amazing crustees pancake presentation there, sort of a highlight of our time at Disney crustees. M2: We also iconically saw Meg, the winner of Design Star season God knows what. That show's so good. M1: I wasn't there for that. I was visiting a college and my friend was there instead. M2: I forgot. Yeah, it was me and your friend hanging out. So anyway, this main dome area is being used for events like Creste's panels, HGTV stars giving little panel presentations. And what they did was they just kind of closed off the back area because it's all think about like going to Soren. This is actually a perfect example. You're down in that main area and you there's a Crestees ad and things, but like the Soren cue is right there. So what they would have done is they would have just put black kind of literal, actually not kind of curtains. Black curtains, just blocking off that sort of like soarin area, not just the queue, but the area right outside of it, even maybe like the bathrooms. And then the queue itself wouldn't be like closed off. It just would be behind curtains. That's what they did. There was a ride called Body Wars behind curtains. There was still a sign that said Body Wars, FYI. It was very in the early days, they didn't really touch it. M1: It was sh it was shoddy. It was like a shoddy sort of reuse of the pavilion, yeah. M2: It was shoddy. It was shoddy. And then cranium command, same thing. And the reason we bring this up, the the black curtain specifically, is because it was so easy for guests to illegally access it because they could just slip through and there was no one really monitoring it back there. And when you go back, when you went back to cranium command, Buzzy was literally, I mean, everything was abandoned back there. The ride vehicles for body wars were. But like As was Buzzy. There was just an animatronic, just like they left Stitch. Just they you know, it's what they did. So Buzzy was just sitting there on his little his little thing. M1: so then Buzzy gets a tag attached to him that says that he's gonna go to the archives. It says, you know, do not destroy this, like it's gonna go to the Walt Disney Archives, whatever. But nothing is really happening in the pavilion until about 2014 when the simulator cabs that were part of Body Wars, so like the ride vehicles for body wars are removed. I think they were sent to an international park to be used for like a different a different ride. Okay. M2: Kong. Yeah, it was like an Iron Man thing, pretty sure. I don't know if that was speculation from people or if that's actually determined, but they definitely were removed and reused. M1: Yes. And so it was just like empty back there. And it is a couple years later, 2016, 2017, 2018, that urban M2: twenty ten Lore. M1: ex yeah, 2018, Laura, that urban explorers start sneaking back there. Again, it's just curtains. And this pavilion is not being like super regularly staffed or anything, especially yeah, M2: back then. M1: especially not the abandoned places. We've talked about urban exploring before. Do not ever do this. Okay. We do not condone this. It is a horrible idea. But this is what people were doing. And so they would go back. Matt Sanswa, as we've talked about, had a little crush on Mesla too. They would go back and they would get they would film M2: Stop that's not true. Stop. M1: videos of the abandoned pavilion, including Buzzy. So they would go into Cranium Command. It is pitch black in there. It's a creepy, creepy, creepy as heck. And they would point their giant flashlight up at Buzzy. And M2: This isn't one specific video that we both watch. Okay, this isn't every single person doing that. Yeah. M1: But it's like creepy and Buzzy is like up there just sitting like dusty like this. Okay. Like one of his M2: One of his eyes was stuck. M1: eyes is kind of like this. Ugh, it's just it gives you the actual creeps at the thought of being back there. But yeah, people were sneaking back there and like looking at him. M2: And it was like they were there's a lot of things like the literal cranium command film reel was like laying there up at back in one of the rooms. Like there was just like stuff back there. So it was pretty cool for people to explore. And they were slowly kind of watching again buzzy deterioration. There's this other I'm gonna say what word I think it is. There was another little animatronic thing, and I think it was a hyperthalamus, but then I'm worried that that's like a word that means M1: Like a part of the brain. M2: yeah, okay, perfect. I was worried it meant something else. Hyperthalamus, yeah, there was also that who was like down there as well that I think actually was stolen. And we're not even gonna get into that. But he was as he, she, the hypothalamus was also they they were also M1: Ha ha ha. M2: there. I'll put a picture in the spreadsheet for you to see, Mouse and One. Anyway, if you guys are missing a little bit of context on some of these urban explorers, we did a whole video on or a podcast episode on urban explorers. Good to check out. But Matt Sanswa, kind of an iconic one. Okay, now we're gonna jump to a different guy who we mentioned before. Patrick Spikes. He was a Disney cast member who created a social media account called Backdoor Disney. It was a Twitter account, an ex account. And basically what he would do is use his blue ID, his Disney, Disney ID, to sneak around. And what he said many times is like, there's so many, and this has since changed. I just want to be clear. But like there's so many cast members that people don't really recognize who's who. You just get dressed up, and like people are like, yeah. So he would go all over the place, Patrick Spikes, take pictures of stuff. He went into like the stitch area. He went, I always use this as an example. He went under the carousel of progress and like into the zines. And there was someone who who died doing that. So it's like he was being foolish and reckless. He also went back to Cranium Command. He also brought his cousin with him. So then him and his cousin kind of escalated another level. They start stealing things. He forges Disney credentials for his cousin. They start taking things like the Haunted Mansion. If you don't know, the Haunted Mansion ballroom scene uses animatronics. If you don't know this, we need to do a video on it because it's so cool. But uses animatronics and an effect called Pepper's Ghost. Those animatronics are in the basement of Haunted Mansion. We went on an official Disney tour that we got to see them. They work dresses, they wear wigs, and they're extra dresses and wigs stored in like I remember seeing them in like a bookshelf. I remember seeing a couple like in a bookshelf right there. M1: Yeah, it's a good dress, is M2: In a backstage M1: yeah. M2: backstage area. They stole some of those and sold them. So we know that he's a thief. M1: Yes, he is a thief. I mean, listen, there's a whole documentary that covers pieces of this called Stolen Kingdom. Now so two and I have talked M2: Yeah. M1: about recently. Someone told me I was gonna get kidnapped or whatever by the FBI for talking about. M2: Kid no, I wasn't kidding. I think it was arrested. I think it was arrested by the FBI. M1: Anyways, there's like a whole documentary, but in it, Patrick. That is that M2: I'm coming for you, Chloe. Stuff, but it's good. M1: is a deep cut. If anybody knows what that's from, please comment it. M2: I don't even know where it's from. You muscle three say all the time. M1: It's me and Nassau Three Stay. It's from a parody account of someone like making a parody account of Caitlin Jenner. Anyways, moving M2: Mm-hmm. M1: right along. In this documentary, Patrick Spikes self-admits that he has stolen tons of these things. And he says, like, one of his biggest mistakes is that he coupled his account, Backdoor Disney, where he was just sneaking around backstage taking pictures with the stealing. Like he was like, I shouldn't have done those at the same time. But he was. He was doing both of these things. So he was kind of very publicly sharing that he was doing yeah, M2: Like a target on his back. M1: doing things he shouldn't do. So then in August of twenty eighteen, we get to our M2: Wait, let me interject. We didn't know I was on Diz Twitter during this time. We didn't know who we, me and the fellow Diz Twitter I've since left. didn't know who Backdoor Disney was. So M1: No. But so in August of twenty eighteen, Patrick Spikes goes into cranium command. According to him, him and what? Why are you laughing? M2: Re read read exactly that top bullet. M1: No. Mozzle 2 wrote the script. I'm not reading that exactly that. But M2: I was summarizing it. M1: Patrick Spikes, he actually said that he was with like a a girl, like a girl coworker, I think, and she was the one who was like. Let's go back there. And then she said, supposedly, let's M2: Yeah. M1: take Buzzy's clothes. And he was like, I never would have taken Buzzy's clothes, but whatever. Okay, he did. So he takes, yeah, he was stealing a bazillion things. Allegedly, allegedly. No. M2: He definitely would have. Allegedly. All allegedly, of course. M1: Of course. He takes the bomb, the iconic bomber jacket, the iconic hat, Buzzy's headphones, and then Buzzy's like rubber glove hands. Okay. And he sells them online. via PayPal, apparently, according to Mouse Let's script, to an NBA player named Robin Lopez, who's like a huge Disney fan collector who has no idea that these are stolen. I when I was literally M2: Allegedly. M1: telling Mouse C this the other day. I was like, do you know who Robin Lopez is? And he like, yeah. It was like, okay, well he bought these stolen clothes. Like it's so insane. M2: I should ask Besla A, I wonder if she does. M1: Yeah, she probably does. But so this Robin Lopez buys them and Robin Lopez has has the clothes. Okay. M2: Huge Disney collection of stuff. M1: Yes. Next. M2: Okay. So this is when, yeah, Robin Lopez has these people continue to sneak back there that aren't just Patrick Spikes, like other urban explorers, and it might not even be Matt Sanswan, Patrick Spikes. It could have just been like literally other people. They get posted on forums and whatever. It is Twitter. Okay. They take a picture of Buzzy and photos leak online that Buzzy is sitting in his chair still, but he doesn't have his hat, his jacket, his headphones, and instead of having his It they're not like gloves. They're like, I mean, they are. He's an animatronic. So they have like little, yeah, M1: They're like rubber, yeah. M2: pointy metal little fing creepy, creepy little metal fingers. and people are like, okay, something is up. Someone stole this stuff from Buzzy. So here's a very important time to kind of understand something. Disney was not watching this area closely. They didn't really care. They weren't necessarily doing anything. They had tagged Buzzy and Hypothalamus for the archives. M1: Let's not talk about hypothalamus anymore because you don't know anything about him. M2: Buzzy and hypothalamus were both tagged for the archives. So there was a tag hanging there. And what that means is like they did it with the the redhead animatronic from Pirates of the Caribbean, that she was moved to the archives. So it's like, hey, don't destroy this. It kind of implies like maybe they were gonna do something back there. We don't really know. But what we do know is that Disney's eyes weren't really on this area other than tossing that tag on there and leaving him sitting there for a while. And Suddenly they're going to be on there. And, you know, by people showing that stuff was stolen, maybe, and we do not know the answer to this, but maybe, probably, because Disney is always watching, Disney saw that and said, somebody stole this stuff from Buzzy. We need to do something about it. Maybe they didn't see it. It's one of the big questions. M1: But then a few months later, Disney Twitter, the Disney forums, you know, like literally explode. That dis that buzzy is gone. Okay, the entire buzzy animatronic is no longer there. This is obviously insane, like unprecedented. It's not like any of this is coming officially from Disney, but like this is the word on the street. And so At this point, the police are like fully involved. The police had been there had been like police report. M2: The sheriffs. M1: Yeah, there had been like police reports by Disney in before about other stuff that Patrick Spikes had stolen and it had kind of been ramping up. However, obviously like the Buzzy Animatronic, like this is all this is a whole thing. And so at this point, like yeah, there's like a full investigation. There was a ahead. M2: And you can I was gonna say you can read this and I have you can read all of and some of them are partially redacted, but the police reports where they're talking all about it and trying to track it because I think that the first time that this was posted was like a buzzy on a milk carton on Dis Twitter being like, Buzzy has been stolen. Like I'm pretty sure that was I remember seeing that and like that was one of the first things. But behind the scenes, yeah, there so continue with your thing about the investigator. M1: Yes. So a Disney security investigator confirms that yes, Buzzy had been stolen earlier that month, but Disney at the time had not officially reported it to the police. But now it's like kinda blowing up and so Disney does report it to the police. M2: Yeah, so Disney, I think that guy worked with the police and he was the one who was like supporting Disney with it. But how did they know that he was missing? What the picture was leaked. So again, Buzzy was on this tiny little chair, kind of like a hydraulic, a hydraulic lift, actually. Exactly a hydraulic lift. His hydraulic wires were literally slashed, like chopping a bunch of like noodles, like nubs of wires. Okay. M1: Don't say nubs. But like, guys, it's like a huge, huge, huge, you know, like th thing of wires coming M2: Thick, a bunch of wires and ropes, hydraulic yeah. M1: in. And they're just like, it literally looks like someone just like took a pair of wire cutters and was like, and they all just kind of went like this. It doesn't look like somebody cleanly detached wires. They're literally just like chopped. M2: There's oil, like hydraulic oil or whatever spilled all over the floor. It's really it I think hypothalamus was still there, if I remember correctly, but not not positive on that. He might have been removed. M1: Yeah, M2: but it was it was kind of alarming because when Disney put something to the archives, they're taking such care of it. And in general, you know, not always, I guess like river country, but in general in a backstage area like that, if they were to go and do something. It's sort of weird to think that they would just chop that and not even clean up the mess on the ground. Maybe they're chopping it 'cause it would be too hard to uninstall They're panicking that someone was about to steal him, but to not even clean up the mess on the ground odd. odd. M1: Yes. So you know, there's not a ton of information happening, but by the next summer, the Hoot Hive, Hoot Gibson, if you know, you Mouse Let 2 is part of the Hoot Hive, Hoot M2: I am. M1: Gibson, who was like an urban ex the very first Disney urban explorer, basically from like the 80s or something like that. he tweets, guys, Buzzy was never stolen. He's at Central Shops, which is where Disney like does maintenance on on ride vehicles and animatronics and stuff. And so Disney detective d Orlando detectives obviously are like, Okay, well, we need to go check. So they go to central shops, they do a full walkthrough with Disney Security, they're checking like everything, and Buzzy is not found to be there. So I don't know why who said nor thought that, but no. M2: It's really interesting, fellow Hoot Hive members, because Hoot then like took that down. Well, Hoot was getting fiery in the comments. Hoot took that down. And then Hoot's account like disappeared. And I don't know if it actually came back. So yeah, pretty, pretty interesting. okay, now this is kind of when social media is like swirling about. There's the investigation has come to a pause. Some people think that Disney took him down themselves. Some people think that people stole it. A lot of people are like, Patrick Spikes stole him. So then rumors swirl that Patrick Spikes cut off Buzzy's head, which like wouldn't even be possible, really. But because there were photos of him with a Buzzy, a creepy, creepy, creepy buzzy head. But it's like horrifying. But it M1: You can look up pictures you can look up pictures of it. It is creepy. M2: was an old production, like foam mold, probably like a mold they used to make the animatronic. then it also, you know, comes to light more so that a wealthy celebrity bought Buzzy's items on the black market, and then people are saying they might have bought. Buzzy on the black market, all just like rumors, unsubstantiated rumors. M1: So that celebrity, of course, was Robin Lopez. And Robin Lopez is contacted and informed the items that you purchased were stolen and they are part of a yes. No, no, no. M2: Not buzzy, to be clear, 'cause I said that they peop yeah, just the clothing. M1: Just the clothing that he had purchased were stolen. They're part of a police investigation. Robin Lopez immediately is like, I want nothing to do with this, not a problem. I will send them back. Like Robin Lopez is a professional NBA player. Robin Lopez had no idea that any of this was going on. And so Robin Lopez was like, okay, nope, here you go. And here's where I bought them from. And so at that point, like they're able to start tracking down Patrick Spikes and find all of these things that Patrick Spikes had stolen. It had started with him stealing like manuals for things because someone actually asked him to, and he was like, I nobody cares about these and like signs and little things, and then it escalated, escalated, escalated. And they found that Patrick Spikes had made over $29,000 selling. Disney props online. Patrick Spikes himself actually has said that it's like way more than that. But M2: I was gonna say that's like not that much. M1: no, he has Patrick Spikes, I think, said he made like two hundred fifty thousand dollars or something. He's crazy. M2: Here's something you need to know about Patrick Spikes. He is insufferably annoying. And Patrick, if you're watching this, you are. Like, just like really rude and unpleasant. He got arrested in 2020. also, there was no ties to him stealing the robot, like the animatronic buzzy. There's no ties to him actually doing that, other than like, you stole these things, you sold a lot of stuff. and we'll get into like what could have actually happened at the the theories in the end. But he's arrested. M1: Patrick Spikes, also I just to frame Patrick Spikes for you, Patrick Spikes has said, there are tons and tons of Disney legends, but I am the biggest Disney legend. I will go down in history because I have done things that nobody else can or will ever do. And it's kind of like, okay, you sort of have M2: He's M1: a big, perhaps overinflated view of these bad things that you've done. He is M2: He's just like smug and annoying. He's arrested. I love to tell the story. They take him to one of those interrogation rooms. He like they take his phone and he tries to grab it back and he's like screaming and he's like, I want my mom. They're Are you over 18? You can't get your mom. And he's like crying. M1: Ha ha. M2: He like had to go to the hospital because he was having a panic attack. Because he was scared. Because he was scared. And then in the stupid documentary, he's like, I faked that. Well, in the his stupid M1: Not stupid documentary, amazing documentary, but in his interview, yeah. M2: thing he said in the documentary, he was like, I faked that because there was someone I needed to call Call to warn them. I'm like, you didn't fake that, you little wiener. You were scared. You were scared. M1: Don't say that. He was scared, but he acts like literally so smug and he he's like, I'll M2: Anyway, Patrick Spikes M1: never tell who I called. Anyways, guys, he's like, oof, he's M2: It well, he avoided prison. Sat he would have been like eaten alive in prison. Ten years probation, 250 hours, not nearly enough. Are you kidding me? Of community service. He has to pay restitution to Disney and to Robin Lopez. As he left the courthouse, he said to reporters, I'm going to Disney World. Well, guess what, Patrick? You have a lifetime ban and you will never, ever, ever get it back. So anyway, this is where we leave off. This is like right like kind of early 2021. Go ahead. M1: So at this point, like there are no leads on Buzzy, right? Like they never, so Patrick Spikes had a panic attack at the jail. He goes to the hospital. And according to him, as police were standing outside of his room, like watching that nobody came into his room, he was able to pick up the hospital phone and make a phone call to someone, someone, his girlfriend probably, but someone who supposedly was able to like hide a bunch of evidence. And he claims that he stole things that were like, you know, way bigger than anybody knows, but not Buzzy, according to him, right? So by 2021, it's been officially classified as a cold case. Buzzy is not with Disney, but they do not know where he is. And Disney is at this point in theory moving on from Wonders of Life because this is when they announced that they were going to turn it into the play pavilion. That obviously never happened, but they they did in theory have plans to like actually. Demolish what used to be there. M2: So this kind of convoluted timeline all leads us to two theories. First off, and we're gonna talk kind of through both of them. First off, someone stole him. Second off, Disney took him. Let's start with the Disney one. If Disney was to take it, take Buzzy down, because I said we tagged him for the archives as well as hypothalamus. We were worried that Buzzy was going to be st hypothalamus, we're worried that M1: Not hypothalamus. M2: Buzzy is going to be stolen. And so it's like say who it's The archives, or it's the imaginary whoever goes back there, maintenance, whoever it is who would take Buzzy down. And they're like, We gotta just do this fast. We can't monitor this area. Someone's gonna take it, whatever. They take him down, security finds it, someone sees a picture and says, my god, he's been stolen. They didn't know. Disney is so this is the literal theory, guys. This is one of two theories. Disney is so embarrassed that they filed a police report that he'd been stolen when actually they had him. They didn't want to come out to say, no, no worries, he's not stolen, we have him. That they just let these investigators waste their time and waste their time trying to find it. That theory seems outlandish and ridiculous, but so does the next one. M1: Yeah, for this one for me has like a few reasons that it's crazy before we get to the other theory. The the Disney one. M2: I think that this is true. I'm Team Disney took it down. M1: okay. But here's the thing about Disney taking it down. Disney, yes, this the clothes had been stolen off of Bussy. But the clothes being taken off of the head of an animatronic versus a 300-pound animatronic on a hydraulic lift being taken off are in completely different realms. And it is so odd to me that Disney would be worried that someone was going to steal that. Like, why would you ever think someone could do that? M2: Think about how Disney, like someone is like, okay, first off, again, think of a traffic light. Like, do you think you could pick up a traffic light? M1: No M2: Okay, well, I bet a lot of people do think that they could pick up a little traffic light. And you can't. Okay. It like it's possible that someone sees it. Could be someone higher up being like, someone might take this. He doesn't look that big. If you don't know that he's huge, he does not look that big. And they're like, someone might take this. So we need to take him down. They pass it down. The Disney company, and we've just experienced this from like the like business side, I guess. it's huge. There's so many channels and people talking to people. It's just like a giant company. And thanks can get lost in translation. And I think that's what happened here. I don't know why someone sliced it and left the oil. That to me, that's like the the crown jewel of the whole thing. I'm like, that's weird. That's weird. M1: That that and the fact that Disney would then be like lying to the police. Like I M2: But I don't think the people who filed the report lied. M1: but someone in the company would be like, wait, wait, wait, he's right here, you know? Let's get into theory number two. Again. M2: Theory number two is that do you want to go through it? M1: Sure. This is a 300-pound animatronic on a hydraulic lift. So a team, like it can't have just been Patrick Spice wandering around backstage with a girl one day. A team gets backstage, gets access to backstage road behind Epcot, has ladders that they bring in to cranium command, has M2: Or they take one that's backstage, which is possible. M1: yep, has like tools to cut the wires and to like lift down a 300 pound animatronic. And then they're able to bring it to their truck and bring it back out this unauthorized access road. M2: We know that they didn't come in through the main park for a few reasons. One, security. When Matt Sin Swab would go in there, they would catch him with like a flashlight and they were like, what's this? Also, yes, 300 pounds, like you can put that in like a motorized scooter or like a wheelchair and push it, because obviously, like you need to move it, but it would, you know, it would be too obvious. So they had to have backstage access. We know that Patrick Spikes did have backstage access, but they would have to time it that they can get in there. First off, it's not like they moved the hydraulic lift. So how are you getting something that I mean, I will say, how did anyone do it? I guess. Like someone took it down. Like I don't know how anyone did it. M1: At least like Disney could have brought in, you know, one of the one of those things that like yeah, that like Disney has access to that stuff. M2: Cherry picker. I mean, yeah, I'm sure they had like a maintenance a way to maintain him. But like yeah, to chop the wires to bring it backstage and to sneak it out into a truck, it's just like M1: I'm team it was Patrick Spikes. Like I I M2: I'm team that Disney has a M1: don't think Disney would waste police resources like that. Like it's illegal to do that. M2: I don't I'm not saying that Disney wasted no, I'm not saying I think that they genuinely didn't know that a different department took him. And then he took and then he took him. And then he took him. That's an inside joke with our family. And then he took him. He's hidden because they're humiliated. M1: And put him where? And and then he took That's an inside joke of our family. And and then he and then he took him. M2: I think I was so I thought when they opened up Cosmic Rewind that Buzzy was gonna be in that queue. M1: No. To me, Buzzy is gone. I think that somebody, Patrick Spikes, probably. Or like Patrick Spikes himself, I don't think, took Buzzy down. No offense. Patrick Spikes, you can't carry a 300-pound anything. And you know what? Neither even could like Melissa C. Like, no, like it needs to, but it needs to be like a group of people who are a lot more organized and strong than Patrick Spikes. But I think that somebody told Patrick Spikes, I'll pay you for this. That had happened before. And he said, Great, I have access to this backstage road. People don't really pay attention. Like, we can do it. And he f he did it. In my this is all a complete guess. M2: I think that Disney did it. I just don't think there's a way that someone could pull that off. M1: Guys, we are div we are a house divided, a family divided on this. M2: We are a literal house divided. M1: Please vote in the comments like, what do you think happened? Because Busny is gone and has never been seen or talked about again. Okay. Disney has never said anything. You need to call us immediately, okay? Same. M2: And if you have any insider information, let us know. Literally, I will give you my personal cell phone number. M1: Patrick Spikes, if you're watching this, I just want to know what happened. I just want you to tell me. Seriously. M2: Patrick, Patrick, Patrick. You can come on the podcast, Patrick, and stand up for yourself. I can't promise that I won't sort of tease and ridicule and bully you, but if you tell us the truth, Jeopardy, what's that thing? Gold Golden Jeopardy, where you can't be charged for a crime twice? Double Jeopardy. Patrick, that could M1: Double Jeopardy. Mm-hmm. M2: apply here. Not legal advice. I have no idea. All right, M1: Ha ha. M2: guys. We have a little fun special segment, a little game prepared. This is some kind of a we have a new special segment soundbite. I wanted to use, I need to explain it before I put it. I wanted to use the sound, the hot dog sound. Do, do, do, do, do, do, do. But then I thought it might flag this as like a copyright violation. so then I whistled M1: Copyright. M2: it myself. Papa Mouse that notoriously says we're the worst whistlers. This is five whistles of myself layered on top of each other. So I just needed everybody to know. And then next week when there's different people listening, they'll just be like, What is that? Sounds way worse than my headphones than it sounded in my office. M1: I told you it's haunting. It's literally like it's haunting. Like I feel like I'm in a haunted house. Okay. Anyways. No, it's like spooky and haunting to me. It's very spooky and it's very haunting. M2: I'm not haunted. It's off key for sure. We were supposed to have a different sound that said, Disney court is in session. We are bringing back Disney Court, where we will talk about extinct attractions, if we think they should or should not be brought back, or should they have not been removed. And then we will rule if the other one is guilty or cleared of all charges. And you playing along, please also rule and let us know your thoughts. How many did you prepare? I have seven. But I assume we have some overlap. M1: I have like about that many. I prepared some extra because I was worried that it would we would overlap. But here's the rule if you're bringing something back, it takes the place of whatever is there. Like you don't get to just magically have them both. Okay, that's why it's like well, well, okay. M2: Not necessarily not necessarily. And you'll hear and you'll hear about why. M1: Okay. Well, do you wanna start then? Go ahead. M2: Okay, I'll start. I wanna start with one that I'm worried that you're gonna take and I wanna be the one to say it first. I am getting rid of Storybook Circus and I'm bringing back Toontown from its extinction. And I don't even care that I know that if Toontown was there today, it would feel a little bit crusty and they would need to put some work into it. I'll take exactly how it was when they removed it. M1: I 100% agree. Unfortunately, I feel like I am the potentially biggest M2: Yeah, I knew you would. I knew you would. You are. M1: hater of Storybook Circus. I absolutely think it is an abysmal area with absolutely nothing to do. And they made a massive, massive, massive mistake. And I think honestly, maybe like the people listening to this podcast are not representative of everybody going to Disney. Cause if you listen to this podcast, you're probably like a pretty big Disney fan. But I would think that almost everybody listening to this podcast would rather have Toon Town over Storybook Circus. And I would actually love to hear a single person who would prefer to have Storybook Circus. M2: I would be really curious as well. Honestly. I don't hate storybook circuits as much as you. I think there are things that are good. I like the train station a lot more. I think that what they did with Dumbo is effective. I think the playground is honestly a really cool idea. I'm fine with the goofy ride changing. It's yeah, it's pretty much all the same to me. Honestly, it doesn't I love big top souvenirs, one of my favorite souvenir shops. But that back seating area, boo boo button. So okay, that's mine. I'm cleared of all charges. Thank you. Sorry, Patrick, M1: You are. M2: you aren't Okay. M1: Cleared of all charges! On to the next. I actually can't quite figure out what replaced this. I like think I know, but I'm not a hundred percent sure. Anyways, Who Wants M2: Wonderful now. M1: to Be a Millionaire Play It needs to return, and I believe it will replace just one Toy Story Mania track. I think. M2: Two. The the first two. You're left with just the third track. Yeah, you're left with just the third track. M1: The O the two OGs. You know what? That's okay. I'll take it. Twister Mania isn't that popular these days. M2: That's such a lie. There's like a 40-minute wait at all times. You're gonna cut the okay, so it's 120 minutes. It's funny, I like knew that you would do this one, but I was like, there's no way if it's removing that. M1: But they could finagle it probably. You don't no, they could finagle it to keep two to keep well okay, do you M2: No, they couldn't because you're cutting the capacity in three. No. No. Okay. No. Narr. M1: agree? Do you agree? M2: You know what? Like, while I like that, I don't think people know what it is. So I just don't know if it would be that popular. That's so niche. That might be the most niche thing that they've ever had. So it's a hung jury. It's a hung jury. The M1: So you think I'm guilty? M2: jury is it's a mistrial. It's a mistrial. M1: Okay, fine. M2: It's a mistrial, and everyone listening needs to vote. Okay, my next one. Impressions of France. Impression de France needs to come back, and that little god-awful beauty and the beast thing needs to go away. M1: I mean, Impressions of France is technically still there, just it rotates with that horrible Beauty and M2: Not really. Not really. M1: the Beast thing. Obviously obviously you're cleared of all charges. That beauty and the beast thing is unfortunately absolutely abysmal. M2: Guys, I like Beating the Beast. I don't care that it's a sing-along. What I hate about it is the fact that LeFu like saves the day and it's just like literally not canon. It's so it's so insane. M1: It doesn't make s it doesn't literally make any sense. It doesn't make sense at all. M2: Makes me angry. It makes me angry. Hate hate it. M1: you're cleared of all charges for sure, because that thing is bad. okay, my next one. I think you're gonna agree with this, but not everybody will. Maelstrom is coming back and frozen is gone. M2: I will agree with this completely in your cleared of all charges because I've seen what that frozen ride can be. It can be the most incredible thing. And it is in World of Frozen at Disneyland Paris, an adventure world. That ride there is everything that the one at Epcot should be. Bigger boats, bigger river, steeper drops, better animatronics, less gray space in the castle. Just like boom, boom, boom, boom, boom. It's so freaking good. And at Epcot. It's clunky and like rickety rinky dinky and it honestly should it should just be Maelstrom. It should just be the history of Norway. So I agree. M1: And I support IP in Epcot probably more than most people. But of all things, Frozen is not Norwegian. Like I understand it's Scandinavian inspired, but like it doesn't need to be right there. Sorry. And I wasn't even the biggest Maelstrom fan. You were. Yeah, you were. M2: I love Maelstrom. Yeah, love Maelstrom. okay, this is gonna be this is one that I'm like, it's not like a direct comparison per se, because the direct one is so obvious. So I guess I'll do that first. Princess Fairy Tale Hall needs to go the frick away, and Snow White Scary Adventures needs to come back, but I'll level up even more. Snow White Scary Adventures needs to come back, and Seven Dorms Mind Train could be a different type of roller coaster. Like, M1: interesting. I mean, I agree. M2: I like Seven Dorms Mind Train, and I think it's a fun theme being in like a mind car. So I think it works, but And I understand they're not gonna have two Snow White rides, so I I get it, but I would love to see Snow White Scary Adventure still be there because Princess Fairy Tale Hall, the fact that there could be a dark ride, Pinocchio perhaps, Mr. Toad's Wild ride, like could be in there. And instead we're just using it for a princess meet and greets is just silly. Very silly. M1: Yeah, I you're cleared of all charges. When you look at what they wanted to do with New Fantasyland originally, which was having all of these different castles to meet characters. Ariel's castle, meet Ariel, Belle's castle cottage, meet Belle, Snow White's cottage, meet Snow White. Like all of these different yeah, Cinderella Aurora. M2: Cinderella Aurora Tinker M1: And then they had to scale that back because people were like, it's way too meeting greet heavy, it's way too princess heavy. So they were like, okay, our solution will be we'll scale that back and instead just put them in Princess Fairy Tale Hall. Like I get it, but I know. The characters I mean, it's hot in Florida, I understand, but like the characters can meet outside by those castle gates. Like there's a bunch of open space there that's like things could be happening. M2: Their their shifts aren't that long. I mean, I would say, like, yes, it's hot, but also, hello, there's so many cast members who are outside all day anyway. So I'm like, I I don't think that's a reason. M1: Yeah, sorry to the Princess Fairy Tale Hall. Okay, my next one. You're not gonna agree. But hear me out. Lights Motors Action is returning. We don't need all of that space for Galaxy's Edge. It's so big and there's a bunch of like random areas. Part of Galaxy's Edge can be gone for Lights Motors Action to return. A classic Hollywood Studios amazing show. The area, like no, the area. M2: What part of Galaxy's Edge are you removing? The resistance base? You're removing the res M1: The area well, I don't know what the resistance base means, but the area kind of between no. The area kind of between like M2: What? What do you mean? Rise of the resistance? You're removing the resistance. You are. That's where it was. M1: Toy Storyland and M2: That's not where light motor action was, and that show would not fit in that tiny little space. Okay, 100% M1: In in my mind, that's exactly where it was. M2: it wasn't. You're guilty. I like light motor action. I actually support that show coming back, although it takes up so much space, but not to take Galaxy's Edge, like M1: Well that's where it was was in Galaxy's Edge. M2: But it wasn't in it wasn't where Toy Story landed at all. It was M1: Yeah. M2: in that complete other corner. So you're you're flooded. You're guilty, although M1: No. M2: I see your reasoning, but no. okay. The Plaza Swan Boats, the Swan Boats are coming back and going away and the Plaza Rose Garden. And going away is like I guess the extended huh? M1: Yeah, the extended help. Why don't you explain to people what that is for those who don't know? 'Cause that's kind of an old throwback. M2: It is a throwback. When Magic Kingdom opened in 1971, they had an attraction called the Swan Boats. They were not individual swans you could ride in, like it's Storyland, Storyland lore. They were boats with a swan on it and like a guide. And they actually it's actually pretty cool. They went from kind of over by where the entrance of the Tomorrowland Bridge is, through the water, over to Swiss Family Treehouse, circled Swiss Family Treehouse, came back, wrapped around Cinderella Castle Moat, went under the bridge, and came back. They were like a leisurely little thing. And also in that area where the loading area was was the Plaza Rose Garden. And you could walk through which is one of my favorite things. I loved that area. Here's a fun fact. Our friend Michael, Michael does diz, and his husband got engaged there. So M1: I have no I have no memory of it. None. None. Nope. M2: Of the Plaza Rose Garden? Yeah, you do. Yeah, no, you do. M1: I don't. M2: Windy red paths with like the iron kind of gates. M1: I quite literally couldn't have less of a memory of it, not a single one. M2: Wow, that's sickening. So anyway, the biggest kind of issue with this, I guess, really was the fact that there was like a limit of capacity. the bridge kind of going from Casey's to the castle or like to where the hub is now was kind of tight. And so they added more walkways. And that's why they did that whole thing. They need to add more capacity and walkways. I'm not against that, but they could have kept the water underneath and allowed the boats to run through a tunnel that was longer. Like there are plenty of options here. That waterway over by specifically Treehouse, when you walk through Adventureland, it's like, what is this? Like it's literally like an abandoned little river. It's so interesting. M1: Yeah, I think they should bring this back. It'd be so fun. I would love it. Cleared of all charges. M2: Yeah, now they like can't because they like screwed up but M1: Well, yeah, but M2: I would love if they would. M1: Okay, my next one, the Skyway that was within Magic Kingdom, connecting Tomorrowland to Fantasyland, is coming back. M2: Okay, it's so interesting that you say that. So you're taking away the tangled bathrooms and putting the old station back. And then you're taking Yeah, M1: Well I'm putting yeah, you know, I love tangled buttons. M2: you know, I don't know. I'm like kind of split on this. I love this the Skyway feels very quintessential. We never went on it, but to me I did. It feels very quintessential, like early days of magic when I started visiting. I don't know though. At the same time, I'm like M1: I kind of think that the problems that they used to have with people being like dangerous. M2: It's hilarious if you're gonna say people being dangerous when yeah, another person just jumped off of Tana's Bayou Adventure. Another person. Should put that in the news segment. M1: Okay. Well, I was gonna say, with the people being dangerous, I feel like could be more avoided now. And I just think the only thing I will say is Magic Kingdom of all Disney parks, I think, is most known for its like attention to sight lines and stuff. Like they really try M2: Yeah. M1: to keep you immersed in the land. I do think, like nowadays, being above and looking down like that. Would probably like kind of ruin some of the magic. Actually I'm surprised. They can't you must be able to see backstage from up there. M2: Yes. Have you never seen a picture from the Skyway? M1: I mean, yes, but it wasn't like I didn't see backstage in the picture. Yeah, so M2: Skyway Lore. M1: well I am still in support of it. I do think like it has some challenges. M2: Yeah, I don't know. I don't know if I feel passionate. I feel like it was like good for the time and the place. I'd bring it back to Disneyland. M1: Tabrical. M2: Yeah. Okay. One more, two more. M1: You didn't clear me of all charges or say what it was. M2: I guess I'll clear you of all charges 'cause like I'm not against it, but I'm like, yeah, I mean I guess. M1: I'm kind of a hung jury of myself. If I was a tri if I was in a trial instead of by my peers, a trial by me. The backstage thing M2: You like kind of felt like passionate about it and you've sort of like talked yourself out. Okay. M1: threw me. M2: Here's the next one that I will say. Ready? Hunchback of Notre Dame show should come back. And the fact it and what was it? It was over by it was behind what Muppet Courtyard was. So I it's like a backstage area between Muppet Courtyard and Rise of the Resistance area. That's what's there now. M1: Probably where the Rise of the Resistance Show building is. M2: No, no, no, no, no, no, no. It was further over from that. I know Hollywood studio is layout. Yeah. M1: No, no. M2: Yeah. Yes, a hundred percent. No question about it. And I'm literally gonna look it up as we are speaking. Do but but you know, what do you think? M1: I mean, I would bring it back just for Papa Mouse Let Papa Mouselet alone. It was his absolute favorite thing. But if it takes over rise, it's a no. If it's in r randomville, then I guess even though that seems M2: Weird, you would bring lights motor action back and ta get rid of rise, but yet M1: No, I told you that Light's Murder's action goes over near Toy Storyland. M2: Okay, confirmed the theater I'm literally looking at the theater right now. Where was and let's see. Staring at the theater. It is where it's like partially in rise, partially backstage. You could chop off a tiny piece of rise. Lights motor action. M1: Is over by Twist Rail. M2: Nope, it's smuggler's run. It's the Melanian Falcon. M1: Okay, you know what? You know what? I'll Mel millennip can go for for lights mortars. Do you agree? For me, you're guilty. You're guilty. You're you're guilty. Hunchback cannot replace a rise of resistance. Sorry. M2: Okay. All right. So you don't No. No. What? You're guilty. Yo guilty. You're guilty. A tiny corner of Rise of the Resistance. Chop off one scene. M1: No. My next one. Disney Quest is returning. I literally have no idea what's there right now and I don't care. D demolish it. No, but I like Disney M2: Level ninety nine and I think we actually like level ninety nine, but yeah a hundred percent. You're cleared of all charges. M1: I like Disney Quest more 1000%. M2: Especially when it was the NBA experience. Like that's an easy one. So M1: Yeah, absolutely not. M2: yeah, 100%. okay. My final one. I have a couple. I have a couple prepared. Some of them are too easy. I have one that's super fun because it's just controversial, but I feel like it's expected at this point. Fine, I'll do it. Ellen's energy adventures coming back. And and cosmic rewind. M1: I knew I was waiting for this. I was waiting for this. M2: Go elsewhere. Get out of Epcot. You can go to MGM. Like, get out of Epcot. M1: You are absolutely guilty. Unfortunately, while I love Ellen's, you are absolutely 1 million percent guilty. That is an absolute no. M2: No, come on, come on. That ride doesn't belong in Epcot, and we all ignore it because it's such a good roller coaster. It has nothing to do with the park thematically. Let's just pop any roller coaster in any park. Theming doesn't M1: Nope. M2: matter. M1: Nope. But it's such a good roller coaster that unfortunately it's an absolute it's an absolute no. M2: What's your final one? M1: My final one, the original V1 test track is coming back. M2: Guilty. M1: You love V three and I like V three a lot. I think it's good, but is it as good as the OG crash test dummy? No. M2: Better. I like that that ride inspires me to be a better person, V three. I love V one. And if you said V one, V two, I would said absolutely. But V three in this day and age, it is the perfect ride. It is probably my favorite ride right now. M1: Yeah, you are literally obsessed with that, right? I M2: No, I might I genuinely, genuinely, I might be its biggest fan. Like if every M1: No I M2: single person who goes to Disney, I think it's possible that I am. M1: like that ride. Like I like it, but M2: Not that much, clearly. M1: No, 'cause I would bring back V one. M2: Okay, that's our I I feel like we have a couple things that people need to weigh in. We weren't super decisive. I think there's like a good series of mistrials going on. okay, we'll do pit and peach of the week. Let's see. What was my pit? My pit, this is obviously so easy, was that I was sit my train was very busy. So sitting in the back of a car facing backwards, and it's always like it's like pitch black out when I get there. And I was just like not paying attention and I realized like, shoot, we're at my station. So I like got up and I kind of like meandered through people. And I go to the conductor, I said, but can I get off? He's like kind of standing, like sort of half blocking the door. So I didn't want like, I thought it'd be weird to sort of sneak by him. He like puts his arm out and he goes, No, we've been sitting here for at least a minute. What were you doing? I said, I thought we were at the previous station. I was like, I was, yeah, I was just like totally missed it. Like, my gosh, never done this before. Been thinking this, whatever. And he's like, You think that you can get off of a moving train while it's moving? Okay, we're sitting 100% still. We proceeded and I was like, I just was like, I'm not gonna argue with him. I'm like, someone's gonna call like the transit police on me if I try to even like I was just like, okay, because it's not that the next station's not that far. So I'm like, what? I'm like, okay, no worries. We proceed to sit at that station for like three minutes as I watch all of the other cars continue to empty where there's not a conductor, so much that I almost ran to another car. Instead, I then get I'm standing in the middle between the two train cars. You can't stand in. So I go and stand to the side. A man looks at me, he goes, Excuse me, we've all been waiting here to get off at the next station. I was like, and then that I was like, okay, I'd wanted to get off here, but I couldn't. And I need a place to stand. So I think we're all getting off at the next M1: Mm-hmm. M2: station, which is the last stop. No worries that there's one person in front of you. Jerk. M1: You're riling yourself up. You're riling yourself up. M2: But I will say I had a very, very, very pleasant walk actually, and it was like kind of nice. So like it actually ended up working out. But I'm just like and actually so much that I might consider taking it all the way to just like take that walk because I did really enjoy it. But but I'm like, don't be mean to me, guys. You don't need to be mean. That was my pit. M1: You're riling yourself up. M2: Yeah, no, I am. That was my pit. M1: Okay, well, my pit is that I still haven't unpacked from last weekend when I was away. And dovetailing into my peach, my peach is that this weekend, me and Mouse Let C are going on our annual anniversary trip to the place that we got married, which is upstate. It's gonna be so pretty for fall, but I have to pack for that. And I haven't even unpacked from last weekend. So I have to unpack and I have to repack two things that I absolutely hate. So that is a pit. However, my peach is I'm very excited for that trip. Also, my other peach is that we brought the Miklet to a playground for the first time and he was obsessed. It was so cute. M2: Not the first time. I have brought him to a playground, wanted to swing with and went down a slide, his first slide ever. Okay. another pit for me is one more pit for me is that I'm M1: When when he was literally like six weeks old. No. M2: very, very, very stressed, very overwhelmed. M1: This is I tried to pause it and it just I tried to pause it and it didn't work. M2: Had to it you let that go on too long. It had to be said. It had to be said. Okay, my peach trying to think of a peach of in this the past two weeks that have been literal H E double hockey sticks. I think my peach is well I'm seeing Mama and Papa Mouselette and Winnie at Bassett Palooza I speaking, which is an event where like many hundreds of basset hounds come in and they're all in like a park together playing games. It's like kind of like a niche M1: Ha. M2: thing. So like that's a peach probably. Gosh, I feel like I'm at kind of a low point. Here's a very M1: Okay, well, guys, wait, I need to tell a story, which is that last time I was FaceTiming Mousel Two and she and Mousel Day were each taking M2: Mm-hmm. M1: their Mr. Toad in his car Funko Pop. Okay. Mr. M2: I want you to know that Mr. Toad's name is Jay Thaddeus Toad, just so everyone knows. Yeah. M1: Toads in his car Funko Pop that they have, and basically throwing it at each other to say, you are the they say they call each other J Thaddeus when one of them is being crazy, like manic crazy. M2: Yeah. And Mousla A was being crazy and I took J Theddy's and I put it facing her and she grabbed it and spun it and then I grabbed it and put it back. And M1: Yeah. M2: she kept getting up off the couch and she was like, I'm so tired. She'd keep getting up of the couch and then she grabbed him and just made him sit there and stare at me. She and she was the one who deserved him. M1: So they give each other they pass around a J Thaddeus Bunko Pop when one of them's being crazy. Okay. What is your fact of the day? M2: We do. Okay. Okay, my fact of the day. I actually think my fact of the day is gonna be like kind of a funny little quip. Ellen's energy adventure. Ellen de Generis had an animatronic of Ellen DeGeneres. And on the Ellen show, she got like supposedly said animatronic. It wasn't actually that. And I just thought, like, I as I was thinking about the ride, I'm like, I feel like that's the last memory people kind of have of that. That not that was not actually her. But some of those dinosaurs Did end up getting reused in other attractions, like on the Disneyland Railroad, which has a little dinosaur area. M1: I didn't know that Ellen like quote unquote got her animatronic. What do we M2: my god, Google it right now. It's actually insane. It's like crazy. Everyone, everyone, Google it. Ellen de Generous Animatronic. You're gonna see it. And it's yep. And she like opened up a box. It's so M1: my god but that obviously it's not it. M2: it's so yeah, people think it is. M1: Okay, guys, please. okay, I need to think of a fact. Just kind of on the fly, I'm obviously just like vamping trying to think of one. M2: Lightswater action galaxies edge tribute. M1: my god, one of my favorite facts about Lights Monders Action at the time is was this even a fact or was this known? Was that one of the cars was like driven backwards? You know, like it looked like it was driving backwards, but the person was actually that was actually the front of the car. That was the front of M2: They like got out of the car. I think I think, M1: the car. M2: well, that's sure. That counts. But M1: Ha ha ha. M2: I think I think they like revealed that to the audience. But I'm glad that you, as a child watching it, felt really special and that you really resonated M1: It it felt special to me. M2: with you. all right, guys, that was our episode.
