- 0:01When we listen, we can make connections from heart to heart,
- 0:05person to person, medicine to medicine,
- 0:08and we can open ourselves up to what it is that's really there,
- 0:13waiting to be given, waiting to flow.
- 0:26Hello and welcome back to Remember Why You're Here,
- 0:29a podcast for seekers and sensitives where you can relax, receive,
- 0:34reconnect with yourself, and remember that most important thing of all,
- 0:38why you're here. I'm Asia Suler, author,
- 0:42earth intuitive and teacher. And in this episode today,
- 0:46I wanted to revisit a recording that I've probably
- 0:51made, might have even been a decade ago now,
- 0:55but that the information in this recording is something that still guides me
- 1:00literally every day in my creative practice.
- 1:04So if you listen to the Intuitive Reading for this month,
- 1:08I talk about how November has this bridge month feeling where we're
- 1:13kind of integrating where we've been the last few months and that we're
- 1:18really in this phase right now of in the midst of a creation
- 1:22that is coming out into the world,
- 1:25but that it's like we're not quite there yet with what's coming to
- 1:29fruition. So I see a lot of us in this creatively fruitful,
- 1:34but also liminal place. I mean,
- 1:36the message for November in part was don't pick the green strawberries,
- 1:41let them ripen fully.
- 1:42But what I've been seeing as a theme in this intuitive reading,
- 1:46but also in my personal intuitive readings I've been doing with folks is that
- 1:49there's this sense of more clarity around what the
- 1:54creative project is, what they're being asked to pour their soul's energy into.
- 2:00But then even within that clarity,
- 2:03there's this sense of not knowing exactly how it's all going to turn out or not
- 2:07knowing exactly how to do this, how to create the time,
- 2:11how to pour one's energy into this thing, how to create
- 2:17an environment in which it's actually feasible for you to bring this to
- 2:22fruition.
- 2:23So I thought it would be potent to revisit
- 2:28this recording in talking about these stones for creative flow. I absolutely
- 2:33love working with stones and creativity. I work with stones all the time.
- 2:37Every morning when I meditate, I work with stones during my intuitive readings.
- 2:42And I find that really more than pretty much any other medicine I work with,
- 2:47stones really help me get my creative energy flowing,
- 2:52help me remember myself as a creative soul,
- 2:55help me focus and hone in on what wants to move through me.
- 2:59So if you are in a period of time right now where you are actively deepening
- 3:04your relationship to your creativity,
- 3:06where you are waiting for maybe a new
- 3:11rhythm even in your life to come to fruition where you can really focus on
- 3:16what you're being called towards,
- 3:18then this podcast episode is exactly for you today.
- 3:23I also decided this week to release on my Substack for my lovely paid
- 3:27subscribers,
- 3:29a meditation specifically to help you through this time,
- 3:33a meditation to help you focus and hone in,
- 3:36and it is called What Your Soul Wants to Create. So when I do these
- 3:40intuitive readings for people,
- 3:42I find over and over again that their soul is communicating to me about what
- 3:47it is they came here to create.
- 3:49And sometimes that looks a little bit different than what our brain thinks is
- 3:54possible or is plausible for us or the
- 3:59ideas that we sometimes get in our own heads. And so for me,
- 4:03connecting to what my soul wants to create, not only does it give me clarity,
- 4:07but it really clears the pathway for me to figure out how to
- 4:12make it happen in life,
- 4:14to create that real world space to understand and have support
- 4:19in this process of taking what is a desire on a deep soul
- 4:23level and really translating it into a way of living my life
- 4:28that allows me to have the space for this soul-led creative impulse.
- 4:33So if any of this is resonating with you,
- 4:36you can check out that meditation over on my Substack. My Substack is $5 a month
- 4:41and you receive every paid post,
- 4:44every meditation in class behind that paywall. So if you're interested in that,
- 4:48I will put the link here in the show notes. And without further ado,
- 4:51let's go ahead and get into this recording of how stones can help
- 4:56you create creative flow in your life.
- 5:01Creativity is a nutriment for our soul.
- 5:05It is essential to living a happy and fulfilled life.
- 5:09All of us are creative.
- 5:11You don't have to be a painter or a musician in order to count
- 5:16yourself as creative. Baking is creative.
- 5:19Painting a wall is creative.
- 5:22Designing new rooms for your house is creative.
- 5:25So we all need to find our creative outlets. It's essential to our being.
- 5:31Stones are powerful medicine.
- 5:33They're some of the most ancient medicine here on this planet.
- 5:36And I find that when I work with stones,
- 5:38really profound changes happen to me on that deep ancient level,
- 5:43the same level that the stones grow and form on.
- 5:46So when I'm looking to work with my creativity,
- 5:48stones are often the first allies that I go to for help.
- 5:53The first stone is garnet. In Chinese medicine,
- 5:57garnet is the stone of health, wealth, abundance,
- 6:02and prosperity. It's a stone that helps us get super solid in the
- 6:06physical palaces of our life.
- 6:09Garnet is one of my favorite stones for manifestation.
- 6:13So if you've had a creative project or an idea that's been in the works for a
- 6:17while,
- 6:18and maybe you're feeling like you need just a little bit of courage to step
- 6:21forward and really put it out there in the world,
- 6:23garnet is so good at helping us to have brave hearts and feeling fully
- 6:28supported by the world that we live in.
- 6:31Garnet helps us manifest our heart's desires and lets us know
- 6:36that it's truly possible. Ultimately,
- 6:39garnet lets us know that we're ready to move
- 6:44forward.
- 6:45It gives us a solid foundation and grounding here and lets you know that the
- 6:50well of your creativity is truly abundant.
- 6:54The next stone is rhodochrosite. In Chinese medicine,
- 6:59we talk about rhodochrosite as dilating and opening
- 7:04circulation and blood vessels and it's sort of like dilating and opening the
- 7:08portal of ourselves,
- 7:10really opening ourselves up to creative inspiration and flow.
- 7:15Rhodochrosite is one of my favorite stones for anxiety.
- 7:19So if you're having any anxiety wrapped up in your creations,
- 7:22perhaps feeling like you're not sure how they're going to turn out or if you're
- 7:26up to the task, this is one of my favorite stones to work with.
- 7:30This stone particularly shines if you're feeling blocked or
- 7:35stagnated in your creativity.
- 7:38Maybe you've been a caretaker for years and you've been pouring a lot of energy,
- 7:42attention, and time into other people or other people's projects.
- 7:46You might start to feel like there's this wall up between you and accessing your
- 7:51creativity or between you and the world.
- 7:54Rhodochrosite helps us to dilate this portal of our inspiration
- 7:59to move beyond these walls,
- 8:01to really get the flow of our inspiration going.
- 8:05Rhodochrosite is great for writer's block or when you feel like you've reached a
- 8:10dead end with a song or a painting. In Chinese medicine,
- 8:14we say that it really gets the blood flowing,
- 8:16so it gets your life force flowing again so that you can really feel like you
- 8:20can be in movement with your creativity once more.
- 8:24The last stone is opal.
- 8:28Opals are one of my favorites for creativity and we can kind of tap into this
- 8:32understanding of why when we look at its chemical structure.
- 8:36So opals are basically made up of silica and water,
- 8:40silica being what makes up the basis of our technology and what makes quartz
- 8:45crystals.
- 8:46Silica can hold and encode a lot of information while water
- 8:51is incredibly moving. Together,
- 8:55opal holds this ability of receiving inspiration
- 9:00and creative insight and also moving that insight forward,
- 9:04really helping us find this flow.
- 9:08I kind of think of opal as getting us from the first
- 9:12raindrops that come down all the way into the streams, the rivers,
- 9:17the tributaries,
- 9:18and finally back out into the ocean where what you've been given as a gift in
- 9:22your creativity is finally given back to the world. Some authors talk about opal
- 9:27as igniting the holy fire, and I think this is really apt with creativity.
- 9:32Creativity is this kind of fire.
- 9:34It takes hold of you and when you're really in the flow with it,
- 9:37it doesn't burn you, it just ignites you even more.
- 9:42So opal helps us to hold and embody the fire of our creativity and really
- 9:47have that be a light moving us forward. Lastly,
- 9:51opal also increases sensitivity so we can start to notice the
- 9:56subtlety of when we first start receiving these creative inputs or messages
- 10:01and helps us tap back into states of positivity,
- 10:05possibility and hope because really these are the
- 10:09composts that feed a truly bountiful garden of creativity.
- 10:16Okay,
- 10:17I hope that this information about these stones is really helpful for you and
- 10:21really creating and building a very nourishing creative practice for yourself
- 10:26this season.
- 10:27And I felt inspired after re-listening to this to also
- 10:32share with you a powerful story of stone healing involving
- 10:37opals in my life. Opals have been coming in for me a lot.
- 10:39They've been coming in for people and their readings.
- 10:42As I said in the recording,
- 10:44opals are all about creating flow in your life and that's a lot of us,
- 10:48if we just can create the flow, then that creativity will come in,
- 10:52then that inspiration will come in.
- 10:54So I wanted to share just a really magical story
- 10:59called Throwing Diamonds Into Lakes that is specifically about how
- 11:04opal medicine came into my life and just feels like a really
- 11:10beautiful example of what surrender can look like
- 11:15on our journey and how that kind of surrender can create such a beautiful flow
- 11:19in our creative life. So this story happened and was told about 10 years ago
- 11:24now and it was so fun for me to revisit. So without further ado,
- 11:29let's listen to the story about the time that I threw a diamond into a lake.
- 11:36Stones and minerals are some of the oldest medicine on earth.
- 11:39From the Aztecs to the ancient Chinese,
- 11:42stones have been used as medicine for millennia.
- 11:45When we begin to work with stones,
- 11:48real magic can happen and all we have to do is listen.
- 11:53So this is a story of listening. It's also a story of flow,
- 11:58opals and letting go. And yes,
- 12:02it's also a story of chucking diamonds into lakes.
- 12:07So it all began with a Herkimer diamond.
- 12:09I had been coveting a large Herkimer diamond for a long time.
- 12:15Herkimer diamonds in Daoist medicine are considered to turn up the volume in any
- 12:20treatment.
- 12:20They maximize the dynamic potential of any medicine
- 12:25combination or even just the medicine moment that you're in at this time in your
- 12:30life.
- 12:31So I had been looking for Herkimer diamond to kind of turn up the volume in my
- 12:35life and use my medicine practices. And I was at a conference in North Carolina
- 12:40when I came across the perfect Herkimer.
- 12:43It was a large one about the size of my palm.
- 12:46And if anyone's ever looked for Herkimers,
- 12:48then you know it's not easy to find Herkimers that large.
- 12:52Herkimer diamonds come from one place in the world and that's Herkimer,
- 12:55New York. They are a quartz,
- 12:57but they're a little bit harder than normal quartz because they're actually
- 13:00formed within a rock formation. So when I found this Herkimer,
- 13:05I thought, yes, I'm going to grab this. I'm going to get it.
- 13:08I'm going to put it in my collection. But from the beginning,
- 13:11I remember feeling very much so like this was something I had kind of forced
- 13:16into place, like my mind and sort of my ego was like, oh yeah, girl,
- 13:20you need a big Herkimer,
- 13:21so let's find one for you instead of just really flowing with my intuition about
- 13:26it. But I had found this big Herkimer. It was gorgeous. It was a great price.
- 13:31If anyone's ever shopped for Herkimers, you know they are not cheap.
- 13:34So I brought it home with me. Fast forward about a year later,
- 13:38I was going to another conference in Florida and I was feeling at that time in
- 13:42my life a little bit stuck in my spiritual life, but also in my creative life.
- 13:47My writing had sort of eked to a stop.
- 13:50My meditation practice was having difficulty.
- 13:53And what I really felt was that I needed to just turn up the volume on the
- 13:57medicine that was already present in my life,
- 13:59the ways in which I was already connected,
- 14:02already knew how to write and create and express myself. And I was like, okay,
- 14:07I think I'm not missing anything major.
- 14:09I just need to turn up the volume a little bit. So I always like to choose one
- 14:13stone to travel with when I go on a trip based on my intention for that trip.
- 14:18So for this trip, I chose the Herkimer diamond. Now,
- 14:22the moment I got to the conference, the first thing I noticed was the lake,
- 14:26a big beautiful lake right next to where the conference site was.
- 14:30And the first night I was there,
- 14:31I went down to the lake with my Herkimer to sit and meditate and just soak in
- 14:35the Florida evening. And immediately as soon as I got there and sat down,
- 14:41I got this feeling that the lake wanted me to toss my Herkimer into it.
- 14:46And I'm going to tell you my immediate reaction was hell no. First of all,
- 14:50I really like the Herkimer diamond. Second of all,
- 14:53it's hard to find big ones like this. Third of all,
- 14:55this was expensive. I literally remember thinking, "Yeah,
- 14:59I don't think I'm spiritual enough for that yet." But the feeling was so
- 15:03strong,
- 15:04I literally had to put that Herkimer away in a pouch because it was honestly
- 15:08like this bodily vibration that if I kept that Herkimer in my hand,
- 15:12I would just subconsciously chuck it into the lake.
- 15:16It was one of the strongest sort of unknown bodily sensations I've ever
- 15:20experienced. So I remember putting that Herkimer away and thinking, "All right,
- 15:25if I still feel this way by the end of the weekend,
- 15:29then I'll do it." So that night I went back to my tent and went to sleep with my
- 15:34Herkimer, and that is the night that the dreams of opals began.
- 15:39So I'm going to talk a little bit about opals in a bit,
- 15:43but you can hold onto this little tidbit about opals.
- 15:45When the Daoists first started using points on the body for
- 15:50acupuncture, before needles were employed,
- 15:53they used opals to create flow,
- 15:57so you can keep that in your mind. So I'm having these dreams about opals every
- 16:00night and the feeling of needing to throw this Herkimer in the lake is just
- 16:04growing and growing and growing every day to the point where I actually noticed
- 16:09that I'm avoiding walking by the lake.
- 16:11So the last day of the conference comes around and I'm resigned at this point.
- 16:16The idea of even bringing that Herkimer home with me feels wrong.
- 16:19This Herkimer wants to stay here.
- 16:22So the same vendor that had been at the conference in North Carolina was down in
- 16:26Florida.
- 16:27So I went up to the stone vendor and I told her about what I was experiencing
- 16:31and she asked me, "Well,
- 16:32are you sure the Herkimer doesn't just want a bath or to be dipped in the lake?"
- 16:35And I was like, "Yeah, I'm pretty sure.
- 16:38I know how that feels and this feels like throw me in the lake and never see
- 16:43me again." So I told her that and I said, "Well,
- 16:46I'm going home with an empty stone pouch. I'd like to bring a stone home with
- 16:50me." So I walked around the stalls and nothing in particular was calling out for
- 16:54me, but I saw this small golden Lemurian, which is another crystal,
- 16:59which is another quartz. Oftentimes it has an iron oxide inclusion.
- 17:04And I thought to myself, yeah, this seems good,
- 17:09but in a way that I knew I wouldn't hold onto it forever.
- 17:12That ultimately was for someone else,
- 17:14but for now it would be a good placeholder in my pouch.
- 17:17So just saying yes to what it was I was hearing and picking up on,
- 17:21I placed that Lemurian into my pouch.
- 17:24I took the Herkimer out and I walked down to the lake. I sat for a moment,
- 17:29but honestly, not even that long because the time had come.
- 17:32And when I was ready,
- 17:34I chucked that Herkimer as far as I could into the lake. And I
- 17:39watched as it plopped underneath the surface and I watched as all of
- 17:44the ripples disappeared,
- 17:46and I watched as I realized that I would literally never see the stone again,
- 17:49and I would have no idea even where it went in this lake.
- 17:53And I'm going to tell you, it was such a feeling of completion and release.
- 17:57It was absolutely incredible to let go of something that I had placed so much
- 18:02emphasis on and had sort of wrapped my development around in a
- 18:07very ego-based, sort of mind-based kind of way was absolutely incredible.
- 18:12So I went home feeling so light, and just a couple days later,
- 18:15I was seeing a client. I do on the body treatments with stones,
- 18:19and I felt really guided to use this Lemurian crystal and place at the very
- 18:24tippy top of her crown.
- 18:25Lemurians are sort of renowned for their ability to help us connect into deep
- 18:30meditative states and open up to perceiving that light of the divine or of
- 18:35our personal divine, our higher selves,
- 18:38what exists beyond the realm of our day-to-day consciousness. So after our
- 18:43session, she came up to me and she said,
- 18:45"What was that stone you put on my head?
- 18:48For the first time ever in meditation,
- 18:50I saw light and I saw this golden light.
- 18:53It was so beautiful." And I said, "Oh,
- 18:56it's this Lemurian." And I looked at her and I looked at the stone and I
- 19:01thought,
- 19:02"This is for you." And so I gave it to her knowing full well that this is why I
- 19:07picked it up in the first place. I really had no intention of holding onto it.
- 19:10I gave it to her and she was delighted.
- 19:13She took it in and then she looked at me and she said,
- 19:15"I think I have something for you too." And I was like, "Really?
- 19:18What?" She said,
- 19:20"A few years ago I was given an opal and it was one of my most beloved stones
- 19:25until a couple weeks ago I took it out and I thought this stone is ready to go
- 19:29on to somebody else and it's been sitting on my kitchen counter ever since,
- 19:34and I think this opal was meant to go to you." Now I was floored because by this
- 19:38time I had been dreaming about opals for several weeks and I thought this could
- 19:43not be any more perfect. So that weekend we meet up,
- 19:47she gives me this opal,
- 19:49and the very next day I attend a stone class where, I'm sure you can guess,
- 19:54the main stone we talked about were opals.
- 19:58I learned so much about opals that day,
- 20:00but one of the things that stuck with me the most was opal's ability to create
- 20:04flow. As it contains both silica oxide, which is quartz crystals,
- 20:09and water,
- 20:11opals bridge this amazing ability that is inherent to quartz,
- 20:15which is harmonizing, directing,
- 20:18and amplifying energy as well as the energy inherent to water,
- 20:23H2O, which is really bringing flow, life force, creativity,
- 20:27and opening up new possibilities.
- 20:30So when this opal came into my life,
- 20:33I'm going to tell you I had an amazing surge of inspiration,
- 20:37creativity. I was writing like mad.
- 20:41I really felt like this path that had seemed obscure just opened right up to me.
- 20:46And for me,
- 20:47the lesson in learning behind this is just how important it is
- 20:52to let go, that really by letting go,
- 20:55we can find that inner flow. I think there's a tendency sometimes,
- 21:00especially for those of us who are on a path of self-growth or development,
- 21:04that when we find things that work or seem like they should work for us,
- 21:08we kind of hold onto them, come hell or high water.
- 21:12And the reality is that when we can learn to listen and know when it's time to
- 21:17let go of those emblems of our growth or our next step,
- 21:21we can actually create space for newness to come in.
- 21:25I gave energy to that lake and in turn, that lake cycled back,
- 21:30gave energy to one of my clients,
- 21:33and then this opal came into my life and gave me energy to continue on in my
- 21:37path. And if we can connect into and listen to the ways in which this
- 21:42world of medicine that we live in is constantly communicating to us about
- 21:47receiving and letting go,
- 21:49we can tap into what I consider to be our mainstream.
- 21:53So a friend of mine told me once,
- 21:55"It's not about connecting into the mainstream,
- 21:58it's about connecting into your mainstream.
- 22:01What is it that's flowing at the center of your being?
- 22:05And can you in some way just get out of the way so it can flow even more
- 22:10easily through you so you can be carried along in a way?" The
- 22:14cherry on top of this entire story was just about a year ago,
- 22:19I was teaching a class about plant and stone relationships.
- 22:22When someone came up to me at the end of the class and they said,
- 22:26"Was that lake you were talking about the same lake at the Florida Herbal
- 22:30Conference?" And I said, "Yeah, that was the conference I was at." She said,
- 22:34"I went to that conference and brought a stone, and when I went up to that lake,
- 22:39I got the same message that this lake wanted to receive this
- 22:44stone and that I was blown away. It was
- 22:49just incredible to witness two different people at different times receive the
- 22:54same messages, but it just goes to show you that when we listen,
- 22:59we can make connections from heart to heart, person to person,
- 23:03medicine to medicine,
- 23:05and we can open ourselves up to what it is that's really there,
- 23:10waiting to be given, waiting to flow.
- 23:14So no matter where you are at in your creative journey right now,
- 23:18whether you are waiting patiently for those green strawberries at the same time
- 23:22that you're planting something else,
- 23:24at the same time that you're enjoying some sort of fruit of your harvest,
- 23:28may there be great flow that finds you in this process and in
- 23:33this homecoming that really is reconnecting to the creativity that flows
- 23:37directly from our own wider selves, from our own soul.
- 23:41And if you are a weekly or regular listener to this podcast,
- 23:45I just wanted to make a small announcement that next week I am sharing about my
- 23:50own green strawberry,
- 23:52strawberry that has been in the works now for a good portion of
- 23:57this year,
- 23:58a project that kind of came like a comet into my world and that is
- 24:03going to be launching to the world next week.
- 24:07So if you are interested in hearing about what green
- 24:12strawberries I have been very patiently awaiting in my
- 24:16life,
- 24:17a project I've been putting a lot of my own soul's energy and creativity and
- 24:21life force towards this year,
- 24:23stay tuned for that announcement next week. I'm so excited to share it with you
- 24:27and just really
- 24:29in a state of awe and honor over the way in which these cycles in our life,
- 24:33they really have a greater import and meaning they are teaching
- 24:38us how to be with our creative selves, the standing stone of our own creativity,
- 24:43this inner crystal,
- 24:45this understanding that within us is this ability to hone and
- 24:50bring into translation a sacred aspect of reality,
- 24:54that aspect that is our own creation and our own creative abilities.
- 24:58So just sending you so many blessings for all that you are planting and
- 25:03reaping and sowing and awaiting in your life because your creativity is a source
- 25:08of healing for this world.
- 25:10And as you step into or deeper into your own creative practice this month,
- 25:14may it help you remember that most important thing of all, why you're here.
