Senators Tuberville and Britt are pushing a new bill to shut down a loophole created by a 2001 Supreme Court ruling, which allows illegal immigrants detained over six months to be released — even if deportation is pending. The “Keep Our Communities Safe Act” would let DHS hold criminal aliens longer, tighten bond eligibility, and prioritize national security threats or serious crimes — all to keep dangerous individuals off the streets until they’re deported.
