- 8:27[SPEAKER_09]: Oh my god, is it over?
- 8:29[SPEAKER_09]: Is our leaked summer over with?
- 8:31[SPEAKER_09]: Well, we see some rain coming into water town just a light rain right now.
- 8:35[SPEAKER_09]: Temperature is a little cooler today.
- 8:36[SPEAKER_09]: We expect that to continue this week, but then some sunny weather towards the weekend.
- 8:40[SPEAKER_09]: So nice fall weather here on the North Country as the Leafs leaves, Leafs, whatever, reach their peak.
- 8:48[SPEAKER_09]: Um, you know, there's so many things we could talk about, but today we're going to talk to another candidate who's running for state Supreme Court Justice, one of eight candidates on the ballot running for four seats, and she is Candace Randall, uh, your honor.
- 9:02[SPEAKER_09]: How are you?
- 9:03[SPEAKER_26]: I'm doing well.
- 9:03[SPEAKER_26]: How are you, Mayor?
- 9:04[SPEAKER_09]: Uh, triple your honor, because you're town justice, where?
- 9:08[SPEAKER_26]: For three towns, Harrisburg, Montague, and Pinkney.
- 9:11[SPEAKER_09]: Wow, is that a crime or an area they need free justice free judges?
- 9:15[SPEAKER_26]: No, the court combined just because of the number of cases and the town's ability to be able to pay a town justice.
- 9:22[SPEAKER_26]: So they all get together and pay you.
- 9:24[SPEAKER_26]: Pay me.
- 9:25[SPEAKER_26]: Yeah.
- 9:25[SPEAKER_09]: Okay, well that's good.
- 9:26[SPEAKER_09]: Was it mostly snowmobile tickets?
- 9:27[SPEAKER_26]: We get a lot of those.
- 9:29[SPEAKER_26]: We have a lot of other traffic tickets and some domestic.
- 9:31[SPEAKER_26]: And then I am also on for a cap felony arrangements some nights of the week.
- 9:36[SPEAKER_09]: Okay, so if I'm driving on 177 I get a ticket.
- 9:41[SPEAKER_09]: I go see you.
- 9:42[SPEAKER_26]: Yes, you do.
- 9:43[SPEAKER_09]: Okay, and I'm sure there'll be justice for that right there will be I'm just a speeding ticket cross now or depends on what you're doing 72 and a 55.
- 9:50[SPEAKER_09]: Let's say that
- 9:53[SPEAKER_26]: Well, if it's 72, and you don't get it reduced, your fee can probably be up to $300, and I think it's a $93 required search charge in the state.
- 10:03[SPEAKER_09]: Wow.
- 10:04[SPEAKER_26]: You can ask the DA if he'll reduce it for you, though.
- 10:06[SPEAKER_09]: And there's an ADA at all these meetings.
- 10:09[SPEAKER_26]: Yes, I actually have Jeff Tompkins actually as in my court.
- 10:12[SPEAKER_26]: So I get the real deal.
- 10:14[SPEAKER_26]: Oh, okay.
- 10:14[SPEAKER_09]: Oh, he's okay.
- 10:15[SPEAKER_09]: I didn't know who the DA.
- 10:16[SPEAKER_09]: Who's the woman who watched this or could turn?
- 10:18[SPEAKER_09]: Mosher?
- 10:18[SPEAKER_26]: That was Lee and Mosher, yes.
- 10:20[SPEAKER_09]: Oh, okay.
- 10:22[SPEAKER_26]: She lost the last election to Mr. Tompkins.
- 10:24[SPEAKER_09]: Oh, wow.
- 10:25[SPEAKER_09]: You have contested elections down there.
- 10:27[SPEAKER_26]: Who's sometimes?
- 10:28[SPEAKER_09]: Because we don't usually up here.
- 10:29[SPEAKER_09]: So, all right, this whole Supreme Court thing, I think people know, as they know, Judge McClusky, they know that's where you go to get divorced and all of that stuff.
- 10:39[SPEAKER_09]: So, and if you want somebody thrown off the ball out of it, or whatever you're trying to do, but the
- 10:49[SPEAKER_09]: Fifth, traditional district, which is six counties, including Anadaga, and Ornida, and we're in it.
- 10:56[SPEAKER_09]: And it's four justices up this year.
- 10:59[SPEAKER_25]: That's correct.
- 10:59[SPEAKER_09]: And you know, we threw this talk about home rule.
- 11:02[SPEAKER_09]: Now, one of the justices who retired was Judge Merrill out of Laoville.
- 11:06[SPEAKER_26]: Yes.
- 11:07[SPEAKER_09]: So does that mean that somebody from Louis County gets elected automatically?
- 11:11[SPEAKER_26]: No, it does not.
- 11:13[SPEAKER_09]: Okay.
- 11:15[SPEAKER_09]: and because you can vote for up to four it's like the city council thing here it's kind of so you can end up canceling your vote out right right right so the big thing is you can vote up to four because there are four seats open but you won't be I don't certainly will not be no okay you wouldn't want to vote for yourself
- 11:33[SPEAKER_09]: and not the other three or not three others.
- 11:35[SPEAKER_09]: And I'm sure the other candidates will do the same thing in their families well and all that.
- 11:39[SPEAKER_09]: But most people vote for four because it says vote for four.
- 11:44[SPEAKER_09]: And they're on party lines Republican, Democrat Republican conservative and working families.
- 11:50[SPEAKER_09]: So there's more people who are going to vote the straight Republican line, right?
- 11:55[SPEAKER_26]: There might be.
- 11:57[SPEAKER_09]: So, how did Merrill get elected?
- 11:59[SPEAKER_26]: So, when Judge Merrill ran, it's my understanding that he also had the conservative line.
- 12:04[SPEAKER_09]: Okay.
- 12:05[SPEAKER_09]: Okay, I make some big difference.
- 12:07[SPEAKER_26]: It does.
- 12:08[SPEAKER_26]: I do know, obviously, the numbers for the counties, they are particularly close.
- 12:15[SPEAKER_26]: So a lot of times people think, you know, you're a Democrat, you're not going to win.
- 12:20[SPEAKER_26]: There's a heavy Democratic population, obviously, in Anandaga, in O'Night, Accounting.
- 12:25[SPEAKER_26]: The numbers, if you were to put, say, working family party with Democrat and conservative with Republican,
- 12:33[SPEAKER_26]: the numbers are really not that far apart.
- 12:35[SPEAKER_26]: But not that far.
- 12:36[SPEAKER_26]: I mean, obviously, like about 30, 40,000 apart.
- 12:39[SPEAKER_26]: But within almost 660,000 voters, that's really not that far.
- 12:46[SPEAKER_26]: And in off your elections around a third, a little less than a third, actually come out and vote.
- 12:52[SPEAKER_26]: So it's very possible that may be 40,000 Republicans sit home that day.
- 12:56[SPEAKER_09]: Well, you're probably hoping that.
- 12:58[SPEAKER_09]: I don't know if
- 13:01[SPEAKER_09]: How do you, but you're running on a party line.
- 13:05[SPEAKER_09]: But, if you're getting a divorce or sue your neighbor over something, doesn't really matter?
- 13:13[SPEAKER_26]: No.
- 13:13[SPEAKER_26]: And, you know, that's, that's my, one of my biggest things is this seat is a political.
- 13:18[SPEAKER_26]: So, my opinions, my thoughts, they don't matter.
- 13:21[SPEAKER_26]: It's what the law and the facts are.
- 13:22[SPEAKER_09]: Now, you are to re-register as a Democrat to get this line, right?
- 13:25[SPEAKER_26]: That's correct.
- 13:26[SPEAKER_09]: Okay, you were a Republican.
- 13:27[SPEAKER_26]: I was.
- 13:28[SPEAKER_26]: Yes, I was elected twice for town judge on the Republican line.
- 13:31[SPEAKER_09]: Now, why, why didn't you seek the Republican nomination?
- 13:35[SPEAKER_26]: So I had started that process back in January, February, and I was told quite sternly that they would not, they, the Republican Party would not be backing me, because they, they, the head of the party had someone else in mind.
- 13:52[SPEAKER_26]: I wasn't given a vote at any level.
- 13:54[SPEAKER_09]: Mike Young?
- 13:54[SPEAKER_26]: That would be Mr. Young, yes.
- 13:56[SPEAKER_09]: He's an attorney in Lyleville in Louis County, GOP chair.
- 14:01[SPEAKER_09]: You don't have to confirm it, but there was a new family court seat opened up from the state legislature approved and it was a special election, so it was the party committees.
- 14:13[SPEAKER_09]: Choose it.
- 14:13[SPEAKER_09]: So, Lydia Young, and she lives in Carthage, Jurble.
- 14:17[SPEAKER_26]: Yes, I believe she lives in Carthage.
- 14:19[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah, she wanted to run for that, but the Republican illuminate, illuminate down on wherever
- 14:31[SPEAKER_09]: Judge Natter who was city judge had to run for that sea even give him a they'd give him a free pass to a ten year seat and that opened up the city court judge slot uh... so that married oheny could get appointed by the mayor to fill out the term she's running for a full term as fall so that meant that they had to take care of lily a young who was mike yonge's daughter-in-law
- 14:54[SPEAKER_09]: And so they let her run for a Supreme Court, a Supreme Court, it's better than family court anyway.
- 15:00[SPEAKER_26]: But well, I guess that depends on what you do.
- 15:04[SPEAKER_26]: I would not do well in family court because I don't do family law.
- 15:08[SPEAKER_26]: So in my practice, I do a lot of the issues that appear in front of Supreme.
- 15:13[SPEAKER_26]: So if someone came to me and said, you should run for county court instead, I would not feel comfortable.
- 15:19[SPEAKER_26]: running for that seat because that's not something that I particularly do on a daily basis.
- 15:24[SPEAKER_26]: You know, I have experience as a town judge, but county court is much different and then while in my county judge king hears surrogate and family.
- 15:33[SPEAKER_26]: So surrogate, I would be fine.
- 15:35[SPEAKER_26]: I think I have over 250 cases from surrogate's court that I've done.
- 15:38[SPEAKER_26]: So I would be fine doing that.
- 15:40[SPEAKER_26]: So Supreme would be better for me, but if you told me I had to run for family, I probably wouldn't do it.
- 15:46[SPEAKER_09]: No, okay, but anyway, these aren't necessarily bad people for doing that, but that's politics.
- 15:51[SPEAKER_09]: That's how it's done.
- 15:52[SPEAKER_26]: Right, well, I believe she actually got a committee vote as well.
- 15:55[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah, judgeships are gold.
- 16:00[SPEAKER_09]: I mean, really, 14 year terms, whatever.
- 16:02[SPEAKER_26]: Right, 14 for supreme, yes.
- 16:04[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah, so I mean, or 10 for another judge and automatically get reelected.
- 16:08[SPEAKER_09]: So, and the pay is 220 or somewhere in there.
- 16:13[SPEAKER_09]: right and then certain other judges are able to get acting jobs as well so that could also increase yourself like in the movies acting or I wish yeah no you know you can be acting supreme oh okay okay well um all right so anyway you're running now you've got to try to convince people to deviate from the norm a bed and vote if they're going to vote for four at least make you one of the four correct or or bullet
- 16:44[SPEAKER_09]: If you're somebody who's living up here, and you identify with the Jefferson Lewis County area, why would you vote for any of the Syracuse Udica candidates?
- 16:54[SPEAKER_26]: Right.
- 16:55[SPEAKER_26]: Well, that's my thought to, you know, you always, you should know who you're voting for.
- 16:59[SPEAKER_26]: You know, do a little bit of research, meet these people, understand who they are, understand their values.
- 17:05[SPEAKER_26]: You know, I think I grew up obviously in Jefferson County.
- 17:08[SPEAKER_26]: I now live in Louis County, work there since late 2012, 2013.
- 17:13[SPEAKER_26]: And you want somebody who has the same values that you have.
- 17:17[SPEAKER_26]: So I think that I would be a great representative of Jefferson and Louis County.
- 17:20[SPEAKER_09]: Well, what values are those?
- 17:21[SPEAKER_26]: I like to call them North Country values or common sense values.
- 17:26[SPEAKER_26]: You have someone in the community if they get hurt, you help them.
- 17:30[SPEAKER_26]: You don't turn your back on them.
- 17:32[SPEAKER_26]: You're able to look across party lines, come to a common understanding.
- 17:37[SPEAKER_26]: It's a lot of just willing to help your neighbor, you have integrity, you have the ability to be able to listen.
- 17:43[SPEAKER_26]: I'm also a mom, so I have four kids, a lot of mediation.
- 17:49[SPEAKER_26]: there you go is involved there as well as two sisters so i you know growing up as a mid-middle child i have a lot of uh negotiation so if you won they would they would see you in laudel
- 18:01[SPEAKER_26]: That would be the hope, so the administrative judge is the one who sees you, so she could choose to put me somewhere else, but not likely.
- 18:10[SPEAKER_26]: The historical pattern as I would sit in Louis County.
- 18:15[SPEAKER_09]: Okay.
- 18:15[SPEAKER_09]: All right.
- 18:17[SPEAKER_09]: We've got a caller calling in already, so we'll take that call a good afternoon around the hotline.
- 18:24[SPEAKER_09]: Hello.
- 18:26[SPEAKER_09]: Nobody there?
- 18:27[SPEAKER_09]: Okay, nobody's there.
- 18:30[SPEAKER_09]: some of the people probably want to talk about last night's city council meeting of which there is a lot to talk about but we can't burden the the judge with that today.
- 18:42[SPEAKER_09]: You don't have any of those cannabis dispensaries in Pinkney, do you?
- 18:46[SPEAKER_26]: No, we do not.
- 18:47[SPEAKER_09]: Do you prohibit them there?
- 18:48[SPEAKER_26]: Yes.
- 18:49[SPEAKER_26]: I think almost every single town prohibited them.
- 18:52[SPEAKER_09]: Really?
- 18:53[SPEAKER_26]: I don't know of many that agreed straight off.
- 18:57[SPEAKER_26]: A lot of people, a lot of towns when the law came down.
- 19:00[SPEAKER_26]: A lot of people put the moratorium on it.
- 19:03[SPEAKER_26]: and didn't want to in there.
- 19:04[SPEAKER_09]: So all three towns.
- 19:05[SPEAKER_26]: Yeah, the three that I have, I know Lava also did that as well.
- 19:09[SPEAKER_25]: Really?
- 19:09[SPEAKER_26]: Um, and they've started, you know, I think a lot of people were worried about how it was going to roll out.
- 19:14[SPEAKER_26]: So for now, we're going to say no, we're going to take a look at it.
- 19:17[SPEAKER_26]: Maybe tune up your town law, tune up your zoning, get some more rules on the books.
- 19:23[SPEAKER_09]: You sound like city hall here with a planning department.
- 19:25[SPEAKER_09]: I mean, what are you going to put up such a place in a town of Pinkney?
- 19:30[SPEAKER_09]: That's gorgeous.
- 19:31[SPEAKER_26]: Yeah, I know.
- 19:32[SPEAKER_26]: Probably have to be in Barnes-Corners.
- 19:33[SPEAKER_26]: There's not too much going on in Pinkney, which is kind of why I like it.
- 19:38[SPEAKER_26]: Having grown up in Rodman when I explain to people I'm from a town that doesn't have a stoplight.
- 19:43[SPEAKER_26]: They look at you a little sideways.
- 19:46[SPEAKER_26]: But, you know, it's a nice way of life.
- 19:48[SPEAKER_09]: Well, it is.
- 19:49[SPEAKER_09]: I haven't been out of Togger's lately, but it's a nice place, and the highway super-intended endorses you wholeheartedly.
- 19:56[SPEAKER_26]: Oh, yes, Mr. Cook.
- 19:58[SPEAKER_26]: Very nice.
- 19:59[SPEAKER_09]: Nice man, and I'm sure they're all listening today.
- 20:00[SPEAKER_09]: Well, try this phone, go all right here.
- 20:02[SPEAKER_09]: But after doing it around the air, Yeah, I can't do so.
- 20:05[SPEAKER_24]: Who's your vote for, and a president, Joe Luxon?
- 20:09[SPEAKER_09]: You want to know who you voted for in the presidential election?
- 20:12[SPEAKER_26]: In the last presidential election?
- 20:14[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah.
- 20:16[SPEAKER_26]: uh... that would probably be uh... comillageras i don't vote for felons so okay come on come on here okay so you know what is it just a minute you're running on a pool of democratic party nine yes i am so you order for comillageras present is that correct that's correct do you have a problem with dodges stopping mister trump from sending national guards
- 20:43[SPEAKER_26]: Well, I think that's going to be decided by the courts.
- 20:46[SPEAKER_26]: So you leave it up to the judge and that court that it's being brought in.
- 20:50[SPEAKER_09]: Mm-hmm.
- 20:51[SPEAKER_09]: Okay.
- 20:51[SPEAKER_09]: All right.
- 20:52[SPEAKER_09]: Anything else for a... Judge Randall?
- 20:55[SPEAKER_19]: No, it's hard for me to take up somebody that voted for Mr. Harris's press.
- 20:59[SPEAKER_19]: She's totally up on a fight for the job mayor.
- 21:02[SPEAKER_09]: Well, you know what?
- 21:03[UNKNOWN]: And I know it.
- 21:04[SPEAKER_09]: Well, your council candidates mostly voted for her, so you're going to have to get your strip.
- 21:08[UNKNOWN]: She stopped.
- 21:09[UNKNOWN]: She wasn't qualified.
- 21:10[SPEAKER_09]: Okay.
- 21:16[SPEAKER_09]: or she wanted to run for a judge and that's the only vehicle it was there.
- 21:19[SPEAKER_09]: Okay?
- 21:20[SPEAKER_09]: I can't vote for somebody that voted for a woman that's not qualified to run the country there.
- 21:25[SPEAKER_09]: All right.
- 21:26[SPEAKER_09]: Well that's fine.
- 21:27[SPEAKER_09]: That's your opinion.
- 21:28[SPEAKER_09]: Okay.
- 21:29[SPEAKER_09]: Thank you.
- 21:31[SPEAKER_09]: All right.
- 21:31[SPEAKER_09]: A lot of opinions out there.
- 21:33[SPEAKER_26]: Not everyone's entitled to their opinion.
- 21:34[SPEAKER_26]: Yeah.
- 21:35[SPEAKER_09]: What about law fair?
- 21:36[SPEAKER_09]: Do you think it exists?
- 21:37[SPEAKER_26]: Law fair.
- 21:39[SPEAKER_09]: the use of a lot ago after people politically trump in particular you have an attorney general who ran for office on a premise or a campaign promise of I'm gonna get trump
- 21:51[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah, and she did.
- 21:52[SPEAKER_09]: She tried.
- 21:53[SPEAKER_26]: I mean, right.
- 21:55[SPEAKER_26]: So my thought is, you know, the, the law is there obviously for several reasons.
- 22:02[SPEAKER_26]: One obviously to aid people.
- 22:03[SPEAKER_26]: So if it's a civil matter, and then criminal is for punishment.
- 22:08[SPEAKER_26]: So I don't think running on a specific issue to punish somebody is a good idea, because, you know, the, the law is there for a reason.
- 22:18[SPEAKER_26]: So if it's going to happen, it's going to happen, but running, well, I mean, even Trump said lock her up, right?
- 22:25[SPEAKER_26]: So was he running on the same type of statement?
- 22:30[SPEAKER_26]: I mean, when he ran, but you know, so I think we're seeing that too much and we need to leave that to the local authorities to be able to bring things, you know, that's not really for, especially for a judicial candidate, you know, that's not something that we run on.
- 22:46[SPEAKER_09]: arses the wall the facts and that's how we decide things yeah you follow our city council stuff uh only a little bit here and there I mean there's thing with that state police coming in last January oh I heard about that and demanding for a car yeah they come into the meeting and then demanded phones and apparently told council members well we forgot to bring the warrant
- 23:09[SPEAKER_09]: we just thought you'd go along.
- 23:11[SPEAKER_09]: But then we found out just a couple weeks ago on Channel 7, the three judges declined to sign a warrant.
- 23:16[SPEAKER_09]: They didn't have one.
- 23:17[SPEAKER_09]: So they disrupted a meeting and really browbeat counsel.
- 23:23[SPEAKER_09]: And a couple of council members who weren't even being looked at and they gave up their phones.
- 23:28[SPEAKER_09]: Because you know how it is, they say, what do you have to hide?
- 23:31[SPEAKER_26]: Right.
- 23:32[SPEAKER_09]: And, um, well, I don't know, but you don't have to look at it, but what do you think of that?
- 23:39[SPEAKER_09]: I mean, you have to, well, you wouldn't be signing warrants in Supreme Court for search warrants, would you?
- 23:46[SPEAKER_26]: Usually no.
- 23:46[SPEAKER_26]: I do sign as a town judge or arrest warrants or bench warrants, things like that, but
- 23:53[SPEAKER_26]: It's not just automatic, you're just saying no, no, no, no, you have to look at the evidence that they're providing and you have to make a determination if there's enough there to grant that warrant.
- 24:02[SPEAKER_26]: So a lot does go into it.
- 24:05[SPEAKER_26]: So I'm assuming that three judges, if you're saying that's true, looked at it and said, there's not enough here for me to sign this.
- 24:11[SPEAKER_26]: I'm not going to put my name on it.
- 24:13[SPEAKER_09]: Hmm, but they weren't in any way.
- 24:15[SPEAKER_26]: Well, right.
- 24:15[SPEAKER_26]: Well, you know, that's the, that's what sometimes police officers or state police do if they can get the information without a warrant.
- 24:22[SPEAKER_26]: That's much easier if people volunteer at.
- 24:24[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah.
- 24:25[SPEAKER_09]: Well, I just thought the pursuit was a city council meeting elective officials.
- 24:30[SPEAKER_09]: You know, that's a, it's a bridge cross that didn't need to be, uh, got another call here.
- 24:35[SPEAKER_09]: Uh, good afternoon here on the air.
- 24:37[SPEAKER_19]: Hi, Jeff, and uh, your honor.
- 24:39[SPEAKER_19]: Um, I'm, I'm, I'm going to have to agree with the angry guy.
- 24:42[SPEAKER_19]: on this.
- 24:43[SPEAKER_19]: The president is not a felon, all that was all clumped up as you can say.
- 24:49[SPEAKER_19]: We all know that.
- 24:51[SPEAKER_19]: I think what the anger guy in me can agree to you, we want a judge.
- 24:56[SPEAKER_19]: Any judge, anywhere that has wisdom, okay?
- 25:00[SPEAKER_19]: And that's what this judge lacks.
- 25:02[SPEAKER_19]: There's no wisdom if this person is going to be voting for Kamala Harris.
- 25:07[SPEAKER_09]: Oh, okay.
- 25:07[SPEAKER_09]: Well, thanks for the call.
- 25:09[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah.
- 25:10[SPEAKER_09]: Okay, well, point in.
- 25:11[SPEAKER_09]: they don't like you for that or something.
- 25:13[SPEAKER_09]: Okay.
- 25:14[SPEAKER_09]: Well, a lot of people would answer that question but you answered it.
- 25:18[SPEAKER_26]: Right.
- 25:19[SPEAKER_26]: Well, I mean, if that's my opinion, I think someone is qualified or not, and that's a determination that voters are going to have to make if it is something that they think you're qualified.
- 25:30[SPEAKER_26]: What's about him being a felon, though, the 34 felon, I mean, which there was a jury of his peers, so.
- 25:37[SPEAKER_26]: Man, happened, jury, but that's, that's the way the lies.
- 25:41[SPEAKER_26]: If you don't like the law, you go to the legislature to change it.
- 25:45[SPEAKER_09]: That's true, but that's what Tom Holman says when they get on him about him arresting people for being here illegally.
- 25:51[SPEAKER_09]: And the Democrats say they all should be like, go, and they go after the ice agents.
- 25:56[SPEAKER_09]: You know, it's getting bad now.
- 25:58[SPEAKER_26]: Oh, okay.
- 25:59[SPEAKER_09]: In some cities.
- 26:00[SPEAKER_09]: You know what I mean?
- 26:01[SPEAKER_09]: So everybody uses that line, nobody's above the line, you've heard that a few times, politically.
- 26:08[SPEAKER_09]: But people are.
- 26:10[SPEAKER_26]: Sure.
- 26:11[SPEAKER_26]: I guess they are.
- 26:13[SPEAKER_26]: I mean, they shouldn't be in my opinion, the law should apply equally to everyone.
- 26:17[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah, because the legal system can be used in all sorts of ways to shake people down and all of that and it goes on all the time.
- 26:27[SPEAKER_09]: So
- 26:28[SPEAKER_09]: Anyway, who'd you go to lunch with tomorrow, which is the pre-incorrect justice?
- 26:33[SPEAKER_09]: There's nine of them.
- 26:34[SPEAKER_26]: I would choose Chief Justice Roberts.
- 26:37[SPEAKER_26]: I would love to just get his thoughts on things that are currently happening, and I'd like to talk to him about people that he sat on the bench with, and how they acted or what they were like, I think that that would be really, really cool.
- 26:52[SPEAKER_09]: Like which ones did he sit with?
- 26:54[SPEAKER_09]: Obviously, Vader Ginsburg and Scalia have worked up on him.
- 26:58[SPEAKER_26]: Yes, I would really like to talk to him about both of those individuals.
- 27:02[SPEAKER_26]: And then honestly, the current and the newer members that are on there, you know, how they're kind of fitting in or how he thinks they're doing.
- 27:09[SPEAKER_26]: I don't know if you would tell me any of this.
- 27:11[SPEAKER_26]: Certainly, would have to be an off the record chat.
- 27:13[SPEAKER_26]: But honestly, just to meet him would be would be pretty neat.
- 27:18[SPEAKER_08]: Okay.
- 27:19[SPEAKER_26]: to me any of them quite honestly right i think anyone would be star struck to meet anybody on the supreme court right no no i agree i agree um which of rather me just just this room chief justice robber's or Taylor Swift chief justice robber's the swifties will be all over me for that one but uh to me you know being an attorney and having uh gone my whole life wanting to be an attorney in a judge that would be uh much more interesting to me.
- 27:48[SPEAKER_09]: Okay, let's see what this call says.
- 27:49[SPEAKER_09]: Good afternoon around the air.
- 27:51[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I have a question for the woman.
- 27:53[SPEAKER_09]: Okay.
- 27:55[SPEAKER_02]: What does she think of the president doesn't follow the laws, but he wants everybody else to follow laws for one or not made his taxes like he should.
- 28:04[SPEAKER_02]: And, uh, for the putting, uh, please don't, you know, because they don't, uh,
- 28:16[SPEAKER_09]: Okay, all right, thank you a lot of people are bringing up presidencies days.
- 28:21[SPEAKER_09]: Do you think the I don't know if President Trump doing lawless things right now?
- 28:26[SPEAKER_09]: I don't know
- 28:27[SPEAKER_26]: Well, again, I think, well, there's two different scenarios, right?
- 28:30[SPEAKER_26]: So there are acts in office and acts outside of office.
- 28:35[SPEAKER_26]: So there's certain immunity for acts while you're in office.
- 28:38[SPEAKER_26]: But like I said, the law should be applicable to everyone.
- 28:41[SPEAKER_26]: So the law says it's a crime.
- 28:44[SPEAKER_26]: It's a crime for everybody.
- 28:45[SPEAKER_26]: I don't think it should be, you know, you don't get to pick and choose.
- 28:49[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah.
- 28:50[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah.
- 28:50[SPEAKER_09]: Well, um,
- 28:52[SPEAKER_09]: interesting stuff going on in Washington and everywhere else will take a break here with that canvas Randall candidate for county or for state supreme court justice will be back with more in a moment.
- 29:01[SPEAKER_21]: don't say it off and enough.
- 29:03[SPEAKER_21]: Thank you for listening to the station that listens to you.

- 33:21[SPEAKER_09]: Hey, I'm 1240.
- 33:21[SPEAKER_09]: That's what we are on.
- 33:22[SPEAKER_09]: I kind of an overcast and maybe a little bit of rain.
- 33:24[SPEAKER_09]: I don't know if I see it now, but we expect rain later today as the weather turns.
- 33:29[SPEAKER_09]: How are things?
- 33:30[SPEAKER_09]: Candace Randall running for.
- 33:32[SPEAKER_09]: State Supreme Court justice in our district and from Lewis County, the town of Pinkney, which is really barrens corners as we know it.
- 33:41[SPEAKER_09]: How's the leaves down there?
- 33:43[SPEAKER_09]: Are they turning?
- 33:44[SPEAKER_26]: Yes, they are turning.
- 33:45[SPEAKER_26]: They're very nice, almost peak peak.
- 33:48[SPEAKER_09]: Okay.
- 33:48[SPEAKER_09]: Some people say they're a little subdued this year, maybe the hot weather.
- 33:52[SPEAKER_26]: Maybe.
- 33:53[SPEAKER_26]: I mean we have a lot of reds and oranges.
- 33:56[SPEAKER_09]: Okay.
- 33:56[SPEAKER_26]: There.
- 33:57[SPEAKER_09]: So I'd say this is a good peak weekend.
- 34:00[SPEAKER_09]: Certainly for the outerondacks old forage that area for the people who like to look it on of that stuff.
- 34:08[SPEAKER_09]: Life in Lewis County, it snows a lot and
- 34:13[SPEAKER_09]: pretty slow down there isn't it it is yeah it's not bad it's nice we do get a lot of snow especially in barns corners but you know i don't mind it it's a lot of fun whenever i drive down that way down on twelve i'm just astounded at the visual pollution from thousands of wind turbines where it started it's just a few and it was kind of neat to look out of go around
- 34:42[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah, we look at that and say, where are we going with this?
- 34:45[SPEAKER_09]: I mean, what's going to happen to all of these?
- 34:47[SPEAKER_09]: And does it really benefit us?
- 34:49[SPEAKER_26]: Yes.
- 34:50[SPEAKER_26]: So I do a lot within my private practice where we help individuals kind of negotiate these contracts.
- 34:58[SPEAKER_26]: And there has been so many problems from the last two projects that went up where the company is just not adhering to the contract.
- 35:07[SPEAKER_26]: And I've been told by the company several times, we will go ahead and sue us and we'll just paper you to death.
- 35:14[SPEAKER_26]: You're one attorney, we can hire thousands.
- 35:18[SPEAKER_26]: So it's been really difficult for a lot of the landowners to try to make sure they're getting what they're supposed to get from their contracts.
- 35:24[SPEAKER_26]: And there's another project actually that's been proposed to go up in Pinkney, and there'll be even bigger, bigger windmills.
- 35:36[SPEAKER_09]: Well, do I have, let's say I have a, you know, some land down there and maybe I used to farm it, maybe I don't want to anymore, or maybe I just have land and I want to put one up.
- 35:47[SPEAKER_09]: I mean, can I just do it if they come in and say we want to do it and I sign a contract?
- 35:53[SPEAKER_26]: Just one.
- 35:54[SPEAKER_26]: Yeah.
- 35:55[SPEAKER_26]: Yeah.
- 35:56[SPEAKER_26]: Yeah.
- 35:57[SPEAKER_26]: Zoning law allows for that to win, it wouldn't be as big probably.
- 36:01[SPEAKER_09]: No.
- 36:01[SPEAKER_09]: I mean, the 200 foot tall things or whatever they are.
- 36:03[SPEAKER_09]: I mean,
- 36:05[SPEAKER_09]: Can anybody cut those deals or do you have to get approval or usually they don't want to do just one.
- 36:11[SPEAKER_26]: They want to do many to be able to sell all the power.
- 36:14[SPEAKER_26]: So they want to get a huge project that's put together to be able to get the energy.
- 36:19[SPEAKER_09]: So I want to put one on my land.
- 36:22[SPEAKER_09]: What am I going to get paid for it?
- 36:24[SPEAKER_26]: Usually they pay per turbine, maybe around $10,000.
- 36:27[SPEAKER_26]: A year, per quarter, or quarter, $40,000 a year.
- 36:29[SPEAKER_09]: Yes.
- 36:29[SPEAKER_26]: That's good money.
- 36:34[SPEAKER_26]: It is.
- 36:35[SPEAKER_26]: Yeah, it's honestly it's excellent money.
- 36:37[SPEAKER_26]: It's excellent money for farmers who need that extra money that they can count on to come in 100% and I think that's why a lot of people initially had signed up for them.
- 36:48[SPEAKER_26]: But now there's a lot of issues with the older project having to possibly be decommissioned what happens to the wind turbine is the owner going to have to pay for a bonding all sorts of things kind of come into play there and it can really leave
- 37:02[SPEAKER_26]: a town or individual landowners in the tight spot.
- 37:04[SPEAKER_09]: So they're leasing the land.
- 37:06[SPEAKER_26]: That's correct.
- 37:07[SPEAKER_09]: Why don't they just buy it?
- 37:09[SPEAKER_26]: People don't want to sell it.
- 37:10[SPEAKER_09]: Okay.
- 37:11[SPEAKER_09]: And do they buy any?
- 37:15[SPEAKER_26]: Yes.
- 37:15[SPEAKER_26]: So there is some land that they do buy.
- 37:18[SPEAKER_26]: Sometimes it's not for a wind turbine, but it's for like the substation for the power to go into with the build out their transformers and everything like that.
- 37:27[SPEAKER_09]: But so they put this thing on my property and it's a massive structure, a lot of concrete I assume, and a road and everything.
- 37:37[SPEAKER_09]: If something happens, am I responsible?
- 37:38[SPEAKER_26]: no.
- 37:40[SPEAKER_26]: So the landowner isn't responsible.
- 37:42[SPEAKER_26]: The company will have an insurance policy.
- 37:44[SPEAKER_26]: They're required to maintain it.
- 37:45[SPEAKER_26]: They're required to make sure it still works.
- 37:48[SPEAKER_26]: But for the most part, they, you know, they throw it up and every now and then you'll see a guy climbing, you know, up the tower to work on the turbine.
- 37:57[SPEAKER_26]: So they're, I think they're pretty much once they're up, they're self-sufficient.
- 38:01[SPEAKER_09]: Well, that's great.
- 38:02[SPEAKER_09]: But at some point, they won't be and
- 38:06[SPEAKER_09]: What happens in 50 years?
- 38:08[SPEAKER_09]: I mean, the massive things sitting there.
- 38:11[SPEAKER_09]: Companies gone bankrupt.
- 38:13[SPEAKER_26]: What happened?
- 38:14[SPEAKER_26]: So most of the companies should have required been required to bond out for that decommissioning take down the tower, return the land to how it was in the first place.
- 38:26[SPEAKER_26]: Some towns are waving the bonding requirement and allowing for money to just be held in a fund.
- 38:33[SPEAKER_26]: I'm not a big fan of that, because... Right, well, that and you're leaving the landowner open to having this decommissioned non-working structure that's going to devalue their property.
- 38:46[SPEAKER_26]: So that's not a good idea.
- 38:47[SPEAKER_26]: As a landowner, that would not be cool.
- 38:50[SPEAKER_26]: You have this big structure.
- 38:51[SPEAKER_26]: You can't use it.
- 38:52[SPEAKER_26]: It's not generating any money.
- 38:54[SPEAKER_26]: And now it's an isor.
- 38:55[SPEAKER_26]: That's hurting your property value.
- 38:57[SPEAKER_26]: So if the bonds are still in place, the bonds are then used like an insurance policy to take down all of the towers and get rid of them.
- 39:05[SPEAKER_26]: But where are those going to go?
- 39:06[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah, so if you've got land and, you know, maybe you're not living there and they put up 10 windmills, you get 400,000 a year for doing nothing.
- 39:14[SPEAKER_26]: Mm-hmm.
- 39:14[SPEAKER_26]: Yes.
- 39:15[SPEAKER_09]: That's not bad.
- 39:16[SPEAKER_26]: No, it's not bad at all.
- 39:17[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah.
- 39:18[SPEAKER_09]: And how do they, obviously, the way they sell all of this is, well, the school district will get this much money and all of that, they get pilots, right, on all of them.
- 39:29[SPEAKER_09]: Right.
- 39:29[SPEAKER_24]: Yes.
- 39:30[SPEAKER_09]: Okay.
- 39:33[SPEAKER_09]: one of the environmentalists say don't you they complain about everything I would think they'd complain not just about the bird kill But I mean the whole visual look of it all.
- 39:41[SPEAKER_26]: It's like crazy looking after yeah, I think they do Definitely complain they don't like it the environmental impacts not just with birds, but if they're putting them up in wetlands or in hurting water There's obviously big big studies that are done every time one of these projects goes up to make sure that the windmills and the roads aren't being put in certain places
- 40:03[SPEAKER_26]: But I do know that the last one that hasn't gone up yet that went through was being very heavily contested in the town of Pinkney, you know, we had all the signs out with the no more windmills.
- 40:15[SPEAKER_09]: Well, I didn't stop the landfill from coming there.
- 40:17[SPEAKER_26]: It did not.
- 40:18[SPEAKER_09]: No.
- 40:18[SPEAKER_26]: And or keep growing.
- 40:20[SPEAKER_26]: Yeah.
- 40:21[SPEAKER_09]: And yes.
- 40:22[SPEAKER_09]: Can you see windmills from your house?
- 40:24[SPEAKER_09]: Yes.
- 40:24[SPEAKER_09]: Can you like a mirror?
- 40:26[SPEAKER_26]: I'm not a fan.
- 40:26[SPEAKER_26]: No.
- 40:27[SPEAKER_09]: are they distant or are they and you hear them flap on a way we can't hear them but every now and then we'll get a flicker mm-hmm but for the most part don't hear them but we just have to look at them yeah okay well I don't know uh... we'll see what happens it's a brave new world out there we gotta take time out for a break and be back with Candace Randall candidate for supreme court

- 45:13[SPEAKER_09]: She's running for State Supreme Court Justice and the Fifth Judicial District, which includes Jefferson Lewis, Herkmer, O'Nightah, Oswigo, and Anandagga County.
- 45:22[SPEAKER_09]: How's that for a memory?
- 45:25[SPEAKER_09]: Not bad.
- 45:25[SPEAKER_09]: Not bad.
- 45:26[SPEAKER_09]: That's one of the cognitive tests they give you when you get old.
- 45:29[SPEAKER_09]: Name all six counties in the Fifth Judicial District.
- 45:34[SPEAKER_09]: you've got to obviously your political but you're not you're running an election but you're not supposed to get to political but obviously in an election year judge candidates do our scene with people that's correct whether it's governor hokel uh... attorney general james uh... and no statement people uh... what do you think of them would i think of the current governor yeah okay
- 46:02[SPEAKER_26]: Yeah, I mean, she's there.
- 46:06[SPEAKER_09]: Okay, she's there.
- 46:07[SPEAKER_09]: All right, that's the most you can say is that somebody running on the line.
- 46:11[SPEAKER_09]: Now you got a primary likely in the Democratic party between Hockel and Antonio Delgado.
- 46:16[SPEAKER_24]: Yes.
- 46:16[SPEAKER_09]: We still are tenant government.
- 46:17[SPEAKER_09]: He's got the greatest gig in New York.
- 46:20[SPEAKER_09]: He does nothing.
- 46:20[SPEAKER_09]: They took away all of his office phones and everything, and he just sits there but draws the salary.
- 46:26[SPEAKER_26]: Yeah, that would be nice.
- 46:27[SPEAKER_26]: I mean, I'd like to sit in an office and do nothing.
- 46:29[SPEAKER_09]: I don't even know if he has to sit in the office.
- 46:31[SPEAKER_26]: Oh, Jesus.
- 46:32[SPEAKER_09]: Because he's a strange, obviously, from, um, from the, yeah, and that type of thing.
- 46:37[SPEAKER_09]: So Louis County was one of the counties.
- 46:40[SPEAKER_09]: It's a traditionally supported, at least a fine echo over the years as member of Congress.
- 46:46[SPEAKER_09]: Um, what do you think of her?
- 46:47[SPEAKER_26]: Actually, I got to meet her last year at the Republican dinner, and I briefly talked to her, and she actually said to me, I'm really glad to see women stepping up and running for these positions.
- 47:01[SPEAKER_26]: And you know, I was on election again for my town justice.
- 47:05[SPEAKER_26]: And I couldn't have agreed with her more, you know, we, you know, as women and especially in the legal profession, there aren't a lot of us and a lot of us think, you know, a lot of people think that we shouldn't be there.
- 47:18[SPEAKER_26]: You know, I have to work harder than a lot of other people just to be noticed or to be seen as competent.
- 47:24[SPEAKER_26]: So when she said that to me, I was honestly kind of taking a back that she had recognized that,
- 47:30[SPEAKER_26]: you know that there are some struggles for women who run and especially for these judicial positions so couldn't have agreed with her more on that.
- 47:40[SPEAKER_09]: Okay well she's gonna run for governor so what do you allegedly she hasn't announced yet.
- 47:45[SPEAKER_09]: All right and you think in the delgato local primary you don't think locals a lot I do.
- 47:50[SPEAKER_26]: I don't know.
- 47:51[SPEAKER_26]: I think a lot of people are excited and I don't know if you've ever heard Mr. Delgado talk or speak at all, but he can definitely move a room.
- 48:03[SPEAKER_26]: So I don't know.
- 48:04[SPEAKER_26]: I don't know what's gonna happen.
- 48:06[SPEAKER_09]: Well, he hasn't been on the hotline yet, so.
- 48:09[SPEAKER_26]: Oh, we'll see if he shows up.
- 48:10[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah, if he shows up, then maybe we'll change our opinion on him.
- 48:16[SPEAKER_09]: Well, that's interesting, interesting, I don't know how they do it in Lewis County.
- 48:21[SPEAKER_26]: Honestly.
- 48:22[SPEAKER_09]: Are they organized?
- 48:23[SPEAKER_26]: Yes.
- 48:25[SPEAKER_26]: And I have, the party has grown there quite a bit.
- 48:31[SPEAKER_26]: They're very active now under new leadership.
- 48:36[SPEAKER_26]: They have a new chair.
- 48:38[SPEAKER_26]: So she is definitely rally people to be interested in current politics and town seats, you know, and I think that's great.
- 48:47[SPEAKER_26]: I think the more people who run or the more contest we have, it's going to cause people to get involved more.
- 48:54[SPEAKER_09]: I noticed I noticed little things in politics, but it's a county fair and I didn't go there But I saw some Facebook pictures and like the booths for the two parties somebody sent me some photos actually it was One of the mean girls here who's involved in politics.
- 49:09[SPEAKER_09]: We have a group called the meme not meme.
- 49:12[SPEAKER_26]: That doesn't mean girls.
- 49:13[SPEAKER_09]: No, they're mean now.
- 49:14[SPEAKER_09]: It's the mean girls
- 49:17[SPEAKER_09]: And they used to be called Red Hot Republicans or something, but that now they're just called the mean girls.
- 49:22[SPEAKER_09]: But anyway, if you sent me picture of the booths for each party, and the Democratic booth, there was somebody there and they're talking to people, you know, normal booth stuff.
- 49:30[SPEAKER_09]: And the Republican booth was vacant and just brochures laid on a table.
- 49:34[SPEAKER_09]: And I looked at that and I said, that says a lot about, then maybe it was just that moment in time, but anyway, that says a lot about,
- 49:45[SPEAKER_26]: the Republican party in Lewis County and the Democratic party on one tossling a bit and one isn't right they were there every day actually I was there a few days volunteering I got to scoop some ice cream with the dairy princesses for two days they let me come in and help out um but I think you're right I mean I was there almost every day and I don't I never saw someone at the Republican booth
- 50:08[SPEAKER_09]: really.
- 50:09[SPEAKER_26]: Hmm.
- 50:09[SPEAKER_09]: Well, after talking to your friend Mike Young about that.
- 50:12[SPEAKER_26]: I guess I'll have to let him know, I would have thought that that, you know, that's a great opportunity to meet people and even from the six counties, a lot of people come to the Lewis County Fair.
- 50:23[SPEAKER_26]: I, you know, I went around, I was at all of the, the fairs.
- 50:26[SPEAKER_26]: And a lot of the farmers actually who show animals, they were saying that Lewis County has the best facilities for them.
- 50:33[SPEAKER_26]: They love being there.
- 50:35[SPEAKER_09]: So, did you go to all six county fairs in the district?
- 50:38[SPEAKER_26]: No, I didn't go to the state fair in on Indaga County.
- 50:42[SPEAKER_09]: Do they have a county fair?
- 50:43[SPEAKER_26]: No, they just have the New York State one.
- 50:46[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah.
- 50:46[SPEAKER_26]: So I went to all of the other ones, was in all of the parades.
- 50:51[SPEAKER_26]: You know, you get to talk to people and learn more about them.
- 50:54[SPEAKER_26]: And I think that that's important running for this position to know what the pulse is in the community and understand people and have a conversation and get to know them.
- 51:05[SPEAKER_09]: You have a favorite TV judge.
- 51:07[SPEAKER_09]: Somebody wants to tell me how much to be your.
- 51:10[SPEAKER_26]: Well, it has to be Judge Judy.
- 51:11[SPEAKER_26]: I mean, she's been on the longest.
- 51:14[SPEAKER_26]: I will say, though, I had a a trial, a civil trial here in Jefferson County.
- 51:19[SPEAKER_26]: And, you know, we had a jury and we ended up coming out on a basically split decision.
- 51:26[SPEAKER_26]: And so we had asked the jury, you know, what could we have done better?
- 51:28[SPEAKER_26]: You always want to know like how you can improve.
- 51:31[SPEAKER_26]: about a week after the trial, I get a letter from one of the jurors on solicited letter that said, just so you know, Judge Judy says, counter claims don't count.
- 51:44[SPEAKER_26]: So that's why we didn't want to rule for your client.
- 51:48[SPEAKER_26]: So my client got sued and then we countered.
- 51:51[SPEAKER_26]: And I was like,
- 51:57[SPEAKER_26]: There you go.
- 51:58[SPEAKER_26]: Yeah.
- 51:58[SPEAKER_09]: There's a bunch of him on TV now and everybody's a judge.
- 52:02[SPEAKER_26]: Oh yes, but not really in real life.
- 52:05[SPEAKER_26]: She was at least a family court judge, you know, and had that training but who is enough Steve Harvey?
- 52:11[SPEAKER_26]: Yeah.
- 52:12[SPEAKER_26]: Is a judge on some show.
- 52:14[SPEAKER_09]: Well, I'm family feuds.
- 52:16[SPEAKER_26]: Oh no, he has like a now a court show.
- 52:19[SPEAKER_09]: Really?
- 52:19[SPEAKER_09]: Yes.
- 52:20[SPEAKER_09]: I would trust him to judge a situation.
- 52:22[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah, I think he's that good judgment.
- 52:23[SPEAKER_26]: Well, anyone can be a judge, right?
- 52:25[SPEAKER_26]: So in your town level, you don't have to be an attorney.
- 52:28[SPEAKER_09]: Mm-hmm.
- 52:28[SPEAKER_26]: And you can run for town justice.
- 52:30[SPEAKER_09]: Doesn't the average Supreme Court judge gets a clerk, don't they do all the work and write all these things?
- 52:36[SPEAKER_26]: Oh, I hope so.
- 52:37[SPEAKER_26]: That will be nice.
- 52:38[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah, but you get to hire a clerk, right?
- 52:40[SPEAKER_09]: Yes.
- 52:41[SPEAKER_26]: Yes.
- 52:42[SPEAKER_26]: I would have a clerk and a personal, I think they still come secretaries, personal secretary.
- 52:47[SPEAKER_09]: OK.
- 52:47[SPEAKER_09]: All right.
- 52:48[SPEAKER_09]: Well, we're going to take a break.
- 52:49[SPEAKER_09]: And we'll come back to finish out to show with Candace Randall and just a moment.
- 52:55[SPEAKER_21]: The news and talk authority, W-E-T-A-M-2040.

- 55:03[SPEAKER_21]: The North Country spells news, AM-1240.
- 55:10[SPEAKER_09]: Watertown Depend on it Okay, we're back on the show here with Candace Randall Honorable justice of the towns of Pinkney, Monica and Harrisburg is it?
- 55:23[SPEAKER_24]: That's correct.
- 55:23[SPEAKER_09]: Harrisville of Bergberg.
- 55:26[SPEAKER_09]: Berg.
- 55:26[SPEAKER_09]: Okay.
- 55:26[SPEAKER_09]: Harrisville's in Pennsylvania.
- 55:29[SPEAKER_09]: It's a capital, but this is Harrisburg.
- 55:32[SPEAKER_09]: Why do we have all these towns?
- 55:34[SPEAKER_09]: I mean, I know they were drawn up in 1800, but
- 55:38[SPEAKER_09]: Everyone's got a town highway department in the town barn and town officials and they combined your three judge things.
- 55:46[SPEAKER_26]: Right.
- 55:46[SPEAKER_26]: They should.
- 55:47[SPEAKER_09]: Should they combine some more?
- 55:49[SPEAKER_26]: There are a couple of towns actually in the southern part of Louis County that have had their justice position not filled.
- 55:57[SPEAKER_26]: So no one runs, no one gets written in, if someone gets written in, they don't accept it.
- 56:01[SPEAKER_26]: So I know they are looking to combine a couple more of the town courts just because again pay.
- 56:08[SPEAKER_26]: So you have to pay your town judge and if you're doing it with another town, you can split that cost.
- 56:13[SPEAKER_26]: But they haven't done it yet.
- 56:19[SPEAKER_09]: Whatever that town is, where do you get, if there's no town justice, where do you get justice?
- 56:23[SPEAKER_26]: So, well, the law requires that they have one, so a neighboring judge can come over to hear cases, but they have to have a resolution, you know, do more paperwork, all that fun stuff, so that that court isn't left without somebody, so people do have the ability to have, you know, a speedy trial or just a served for them.
- 56:41[SPEAKER_09]: Okay.
- 56:43[SPEAKER_09]: All right, well, wow, that's something.
- 56:45[SPEAKER_09]: And, um,
- 56:47[SPEAKER_09]: There's something, something have to be done about that at some point.
- 56:51[SPEAKER_26]: Yeah, there should be.
- 56:52[SPEAKER_26]: I would have 100% agree.
- 56:54[SPEAKER_26]: I know the state, so I'm a delegate to the Bar Association, and the state was really pushing for all town justices to be attorneys.
- 57:03[SPEAKER_26]: And I'm the only one in Louis County, and just, you know, I was really worried because there was no way we could staff all of the courts.
- 57:10[SPEAKER_26]: and they thought about going to like a district court and that idea I think was tossed around a lot at the higher levels above my pay grade and they decided, you know, people really want somebody local to hear their local case.
- 57:24[SPEAKER_09]: But if you live in Harrisburg, which is a stone's throw from Pinkney, I mean, who's to say what's local a local person who's across a imaginary line?
- 57:35[SPEAKER_09]: I mean,
- 57:39[SPEAKER_09]: We got way too many of them.
- 57:40[SPEAKER_09]: But that's another story.
- 57:42[SPEAKER_09]: And I don't know.
- 57:44[SPEAKER_09]: Well, you know, do you have like various websites and things?
- 57:49[SPEAKER_09]: Where is the contact you?
- 57:50[SPEAKER_26]: So there's a website in a Facebook page.
- 57:54[SPEAKER_26]: Facebook is a lecture-drandal.
- 57:56[SPEAKER_26]: And the website is exactly the same, but dot com on the end.
- 58:01[SPEAKER_09]: Well, I get those emails from friends of
- 58:03[SPEAKER_26]: Friends of Judge Randall.
- 58:05[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah, well, I donated a while ago.
- 58:06[SPEAKER_26]: Oh, well, we didn't know that.
- 58:07[SPEAKER_09]: Okay.
- 58:07[SPEAKER_26]: No, we're not allowed to know.
- 58:09[SPEAKER_09]: Oh, okay.
- 58:10[SPEAKER_26]: Well, I don't know who don't needs and the amount or anything like that.
- 58:14[SPEAKER_26]: They want to keep us as impartial as possible.
- 58:16[SPEAKER_09]: Well, the highway superintendent told me I had to.
- 58:19[SPEAKER_09]: You said you've got to support her.
- 58:21[SPEAKER_09]: So that's that.
- 58:22[SPEAKER_09]: Well, anyway, if people want signs, you can.
- 58:25[SPEAKER_26]: Yeah, you can ask for them on the website.
- 58:27[SPEAKER_26]: You can send the
- 58:32[SPEAKER_26]: I don't know, probably not.
- 58:34[SPEAKER_26]: Like radio commercials, TV, you know, probably not.
- 58:37[SPEAKER_26]: People don't watch TV anymore.
- 58:38[SPEAKER_26]: Everybody streams everything.
- 58:40[SPEAKER_09]: Well, yeah, but you do see those commercials, you know, they're on, like... I'm like YouTube, things like that.
- 58:46[SPEAKER_09]: I saw my Fox News.
- 58:47[SPEAKER_09]: I mean, for I saw one for Kilmarton, I've seen them for... You've seen too many others.
- 58:54[SPEAKER_26]: Yeah.
- 58:54[SPEAKER_09]: It gets expensive though.
- 58:55[SPEAKER_26]: Oh, it gets very expensive.
- 58:56[SPEAKER_09]: You're talking at three medium markets, really.
- 58:58[SPEAKER_26]: Correct.
- 58:59[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah.
- 58:59[SPEAKER_09]: And you'd have a water town in Syracuse.
- 59:01[SPEAKER_09]: That's a lot of...
- 59:02[SPEAKER_09]: That change there.
- 59:03[SPEAKER_09]: All right.
- 59:04[SPEAKER_09]: Well, if you do radio, I make sure you do the hotline and live at five show.
- 59:08[SPEAKER_09]: Okay.
