- 0:25[SPEAKER_03]: New season.
- 0:26[SPEAKER_03]: On Thursday, we will talk Dolphins' Jets today.
- 0:28[SPEAKER_03]: We're just really going to
- 0:30[SPEAKER_03]: You know, we're going to bend about about about the season, about the players on this team, the coaching, our concerns, what we like, what we don't like, and everything under the sun, but as always, we're brought to you by progressive America's number one, Otto, and sure go to progressive.com for more details.
- 0:52[SPEAKER_03]: And of course, Thompson's a guard.
- 0:55[SPEAKER_03]: I tell the story consistently because it's kind of funny.
- 1:00[SPEAKER_03]: But as I signed the contract, they said, they will be with us until the dolphins are eliminated from the playoffs.
- 1:06[SPEAKER_03]: Now, I made sure that they were going to be with us through week 17, OK?
- 1:11[SPEAKER_03]: So don't fret, people.
- 1:13[SPEAKER_03]: They will be with us throughout the regular season.
- 1:16[SPEAKER_03]: 20% off, you know the deal, go to ThompsonSugar.com and you get 20% off your order of $75 or more.
- 1:23[SPEAKER_03]: I am a customer, Benny customer for going on four years now.
- 1:27[SPEAKER_03]: And they've only been with us for two.
- 1:30[SPEAKER_03]: So that tells you all you need to know.
- 1:33[SPEAKER_03]: Remember, promo code three yards per carry.
- 1:35[SPEAKER_03]: It always, three yards per carry.
- 1:37[SPEAKER_03]: Number three yards per carry, 20% off.
- 1:39[SPEAKER_03]: Do it.
- 1:40[SPEAKER_03]: All right, let's start here.
- 1:42[SPEAKER_03]: All right, first week's gone, first half of the season essentially is gone, five games are gone.
- 1:47[SPEAKER_03]: We're going to week seven, we didn't lose in the by week.
- 1:52[SPEAKER_03]: That's the good news.
- 1:54[SPEAKER_03]: Now, let's talk a little bit about concern.
- 1:56[SPEAKER_03]: Let's start off with concerns and don't be planning a time to talk about all the good things that we see and what we can see develop here on what is essentially the second half of the season.
- 2:05[SPEAKER_03]: But let's talk with about some concerns.
- 2:07[SPEAKER_03]: And I'll bring one up just to get the ball rolling a little bit, okay?
- 2:12[SPEAKER_03]: My concern watching the tape for the first five weeks, the offensive tape is I'm not so sure we have an offensive coaching staff that even if we did want to draft a quarterback in this coming draft.
- 2:30[SPEAKER_03]: that they would be capable of ushering a young quarterback along.
- 2:36[SPEAKER_03]: I am concerned with how these wide receivers are coached, how this offense is conducted, and my fear is the alternative is that we don't have bad coaches that we just have stupid players.
- 2:51[SPEAKER_03]: I would hope that we have bad players, and not stupid coaches.
- 2:56[SPEAKER_03]: because you could, oh, I hope we will have stupid players and not bad coaches because you could make stupid players smarter.
- 3:02[SPEAKER_03]: You can make bad coaches better.
- 3:06[SPEAKER_02]: Can we have neither?
- 3:08[SPEAKER_03]: Well, it's never going to be ideal, Chris.
- 3:10[SPEAKER_03]: If we had neither, we would have a winning record right now.
- 3:14[SPEAKER_03]: But my fear is, and you see it on tape, look at the defense.
- 3:19[SPEAKER_03]: They look smart.
- 3:21[SPEAKER_03]: They're looking, they're good.
- 3:22[SPEAKER_03]: They're good.
- 3:24[SPEAKER_02]: They did not at first.
- 3:26[SPEAKER_03]: Right, they didn't at first and then it got good quick, but you watch the offense man.
- 3:30[SPEAKER_03]: It's it's hard to watch sometimes.
- 3:33[SPEAKER_03]: Guys running into each other.
- 3:34[SPEAKER_03]: They can't do switch releases right?
- 3:36[SPEAKER_03]: They can't time the combination routes correctly.
- 3:40[SPEAKER_03]: It's kind of a mess.
- 3:42[SPEAKER_03]: That's my major concern overall.
- 3:45[SPEAKER_03]: I really don't have many concerns as far as players.
- 3:48[SPEAKER_03]: And I understand what people are saying about my league will is it's only been five games.
- 3:51[SPEAKER_03]: I'm willing to give it time.
- 3:53[SPEAKER_03]: That's my biggest concern is the offensive coaching on this team.
- 3:58[SPEAKER_03]: What's say you Chris?
- 4:01[SPEAKER_02]: I think, you know, you look at the wide receivers.
- 4:04[SPEAKER_02]: It's not impressive on tape as far as the,
- 4:09[SPEAKER_02]: the digesting of the offense and the coaching.
- 4:15[SPEAKER_02]: It's it's not really a reflection on the coaching.
- 4:17[SPEAKER_02]: We understand that these guys are young and they're going to make mistakes and they're not usually put out there as often as the dolphins do.
- 4:23[SPEAKER_02]: So you don't usually see this like this is usually hidden on most teams.
- 4:28[SPEAKER_02]: It's hidden behind a guy who gets out there for maybe like 12 snaps and again, but these guys are out there for 40 50 snaps in again.
- 4:37[SPEAKER_02]: So, but you know, why receivers type coach, take toll or take it to Albert or our group analysis name.
- 4:45[SPEAKER_02]: It kind of falls on him when you look at Kevin Coleman and within structure he just kind of he doesn't seem to know his landmarks very well.
- 4:53[SPEAKER_02]: He is a rookie after all and you look at Chris Bell and I mean.
- 4:59[SPEAKER_02]: You know, I want to be kind here because you didn't even get a training camp, but, you know, there's a lot of mistakes there.
- 5:07[SPEAKER_02]: A lot of mistakes.
- 5:08[SPEAKER_03]: He plays from fused is the best way to say it.
- 5:13[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I don't want to jump on.
- 5:15[SPEAKER_02]: I don't want to pile on because he's got massive big play potential, but I think that, you know, you look at that and then you look at Malik Washington and the guy has absolutely no idea what to do.
- 5:28[SPEAKER_02]: when you get into a scramble drill, and that's not, I'm not just saying that because of the one interception that now we get to talk about because Malique Will has brought it up and then Kurt Warner also brought it up and and several other people all, you know, all brought it up.
- 5:43[SPEAKER_02]: It was way before that I was talking about it after on the week one, all 22.
- 5:48[SPEAKER_02]: On the alt 22, these guys are not, are not doing a good job at wider secret.
- 5:53[SPEAKER_02]: I would be my concern is, why aren't they going to do a good job?
- 5:58[SPEAKER_02]: At what point do we start saying, well, the clock is ticking.
- 6:01[SPEAKER_02]: You know, you better start getting this a lot better than what it is right now.
- 6:08[SPEAKER_02]: Or else, we're going to start to conclude that you're never going to get it.
- 6:12[SPEAKER_03]: Simon, what's your biggest concern through five games?
- 6:22[SPEAKER_01]: I think the call back is my biggest concern, even though I actually can be fine.
- 6:26[SPEAKER_01]: I think, you know, his...
- 6:33[SPEAKER_01]: Like it's clear, and I think there's a connection to what you've just been talking about.
- 6:37[SPEAKER_01]: And I think it's not the coaches.
- 6:39[SPEAKER_01]: I think Chris is right.
- 6:39[SPEAKER_01]: It's the players and it's the inexperienced and the lack of mental acuity.
- 6:44[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm just don't think Malik trusts.
- 6:47[SPEAKER_01]: Malik will his trust is receiving us on any level.
- 6:51[SPEAKER_01]: I think it's a reality when they get open.
- 6:54[SPEAKER_01]: especially gets mad.
- 6:56[SPEAKER_01]: Like Chris said, really Washington, no idea how to work, a scrambled drill, Chris Bell, I mean my consumer, Chris Bell, I was five getting his in college as I was great in him for the drop-up, rarely saw him run any conventional routes, nothing consistently resembling even a half a route trailer, not a four one, realistically he only ever really ran one-two a nine routes because
- 7:21[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, because he just couldn't run over the else and there were times in games where literally all he did was run a drag route to different yardages.
- 7:29[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, no patience or tempo or nuance is a route, but then found it extremely difficult when asked to run prior routes to actually just engage, especially when press and you'll see exactly that.
- 7:42[SPEAKER_01]: out in the first few weeks.
- 7:44[SPEAKER_01]: Also, I think, you know, for Bell and Mike Chris, I'm not trying to pile on, because I do think he's got a really big upside, but, you know, there were significant mature issues, especially as it pertained, he kind of controlling his emotions.
- 7:57[SPEAKER_01]: Coach has said that he could, you know, still blow up, could, you know, kind of cave his own head in.
- 8:05[SPEAKER_01]: With frustration, if things weren't working for him and he loses focus and even Bell himself has said, you know, I've, you know, it's about controlling my mentality, controlling my emotions, those sorts of things.
- 8:18[SPEAKER_01]: And I think that plays into it.
- 8:20[SPEAKER_01]: I think when things aren't going particularly well, none of these guys have really been in this situation where they're the worst at anything and they're following themselves, you know, getting beat up every week and, you know, in the biggest league in the sport, obviously.
- 8:34[SPEAKER_01]: I think that's an issue, but I think Malik Willis has no trust in these guys, and I think that's clear on the deep routes or expecting him to hit to Cated Douglas, that he's throwing to Malik Wash to just can't run those routes.
- 8:47[SPEAKER_01]: And I don't know that sounds so absurd, but it's paying me true.
- 8:52[SPEAKER_01]: It's clear that that's what's happening.
- 8:55[SPEAKER_01]: But I still think that would be my biggest concern is just, all I want to do really is,
- 9:02[SPEAKER_01]: I'm quite enjoying watching the development this season.
- 9:04[SPEAKER_01]: And I just want to see that we get to the end of the year, we're like, okay, it will be Jeremiah's, if it is, but if it's not, it'll be learning more or it'll be Colin Simmons or it'll be Dylan Stewart, or, you know, we'd have to worry about a quarterback because we'd have to force a quarterback.
- 9:20[SPEAKER_01]: We don't have to take a quarterback like Mr. Maker, who's going to have to play, you know, probably set the sideline for at least a year because you know, a long way off being competent in the NFL.
- 9:29[SPEAKER_01]: Just to get to that point where we get to the end of your life.
- 9:31[SPEAKER_01]: It's okay, we can believe it's going to be fine.
- 9:33[SPEAKER_01]: We're now going to surround him.
- 9:34[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to sign who can occur.
- 9:37[SPEAKER_01]: And we're going to drive, you know, Jeremiah Smith, I want to hear from Sam LePort as well.
- 9:41[SPEAKER_01]: Your food is going to be absolutely zinging, beliefs, and we're fine.
- 9:44[SPEAKER_01]: That's the situation that I want to find myself.
- 9:46[SPEAKER_01]: I don't want to get to the end of your life.
- 9:47[SPEAKER_01]: Oh my god, you know, it's really, you know, this has been 16, 17 weeks of, you know, ineptitude.
- 9:56[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe we do have to take a walk back and that's the situation you don't want to find yourself in for me personally.
- 10:02[SPEAKER_01]: So that's me my biggest concern.
- 10:05[SPEAKER_01]: I don't really have an issue of the coach, I think there's been some bits and some issues, but like my Chris said, this is the youngest team of the league, the hugely experienced all these things.
- 10:16[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that's my the call back is my biggest concern.
- 10:20[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, as far as the play calling like you could see, you know, Bobby Slork, I think has had his moments.
- 10:27[SPEAKER_03]: I think he's he's done well in some of these games and some of these games he's kind of
- 10:33[SPEAKER_03]: I want to say that he's lost the identity of the team because the team to be honest with you doesn't have an identity.
- 10:39[SPEAKER_03]: You build an identity when you start winning games a certain way.
- 10:42[SPEAKER_03]: That's an identity.
- 10:43[SPEAKER_03]: It's not your identity that like, hey, did you see how good we lose?
- 10:47[SPEAKER_03]: We looked as we lost.
- 10:49[SPEAKER_03]: That's not an identity.
- 10:50[SPEAKER_03]: So we shall see going forward.
- 10:52[SPEAKER_03]: I do think it has to get better.
- 10:54[SPEAKER_03]: I think that'd be much more diverse.
- 10:56[SPEAKER_03]: You got a big arm quarterback.
- 10:57[SPEAKER_03]: These contents.
- 10:59[SPEAKER_03]: these condensed formations, I think, are causing havoc with these wide receivers.
- 11:03[SPEAKER_03]: They're just not good at it.
- 11:05[SPEAKER_03]: Like, there was a couple of plays that I forgot who opposed.
- 11:09[SPEAKER_03]: I'm not going to just, you know, because I'm not going to say who I think it was because maybe it wasn't.
- 11:14[SPEAKER_03]: But they posted a couple of plays of a couple of switch releases where guys were running into each other in bunch of formations.
- 11:20[SPEAKER_03]: That doesn't happen in high school.
- 11:22[SPEAKER_03]: Why is it happening to to to to professional
- 11:28[SPEAKER_03]: You know, it's just done.
- 11:29[SPEAKER_02]: Now, if it makes you feel any better, I think we've seen even through just five games that there's more of a give and take and a more of a dialogue between the head coach and the offensive coordinator, considering the head coach is a defensive specialist.
- 11:46[SPEAKER_02]: You know, and we're normally we're just like, okay, he's the head coach.
- 11:51[SPEAKER_02]: And he needs a head coach of the defense, we need a head coach of the offense, right?
- 11:55[SPEAKER_02]: Like that's how everybody tends to think.
- 11:57[SPEAKER_02]: There's been more dialogue and more back and forth, I think, between Jeff Haffley and Bobby Slowick, then you would normally see under that sort of setup, I think.
- 12:07[SPEAKER_02]: And we've already seen it sort of like, you know, we've seen at least two pretty solid examples of it where, you know, they did get away from the identity that they want to lay down as their foundation in that Raiders game, and we all kind of acknowledged it.
- 12:23[SPEAKER_02]: And they acknowledged it and and then the very next and Jeff Halfley and acknowledged it most importantly right away and and then in short order that was changed right that was that was that was corrected and then and then Jeff Halfley again was like the first one to come out and say it about Austin Jackson the way he was getting abused those first couple of games.
- 12:46[SPEAKER_02]: we, honestly, we could help them a lot more.
- 12:49[SPEAKER_02]: And we should have, you know, and we should have helped them a lot more.
- 12:52[SPEAKER_02]: And then what happened is we started to help them a little bit more.
- 12:55[SPEAKER_02]: So I mean, like, these, these, when the head coach says it first and then, and then you kind of go back to the drawing board and you start working something out.
- 13:03[SPEAKER_02]: There's a dialogue there.
- 13:04[SPEAKER_02]: There's a back and forth.
- 13:06[SPEAKER_02]: And that's encouraging because, you know, as long as those guys trust one another, then they'll be able to continue to improve and
- 13:12[SPEAKER_02]: And halfway can function as that set of other eyeballs that are like, you know, hey, are we sure we're doing the right thing here.
- 13:21[SPEAKER_02]: With the way that we're calling these plays and the way that we're we're structuring the offense and I wouldn't be surprised to see more changes like that during this by week.
- 13:29[SPEAKER_02]: You know, some of the things that we've complained about, whether it be the route combinations being a little late in development, which kind of encourages milk to hold the ball even longer than he probably naturally would, which is already on the long side, right?
- 13:43[SPEAKER_02]: My, like he's a guy that holds the ball like some of those other guys out there with large acts of Patrick Mahomes and, uh, and
- 13:50[SPEAKER_02]: and Josh Allen guys like that.
- 13:53[SPEAKER_02]: Are we kind of exaggerate or exacerbating that issue?
- 13:57[SPEAKER_02]: I wouldn't be surprised to see changes just after the buy week and that goes back to that dialogue between Jeff Halfway and Bobby Sloak.
- 14:05[SPEAKER_03]: Simon, did you see Jeff Halfway's post conference today?
- 14:09[SPEAKER_02]: No.
- 14:10[SPEAKER_02]: Well, he revealed several things.
- 14:13[SPEAKER_03]: I think Chris could comment on this because I saw him make a, I think you made a Twitter post about it.
- 14:18[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, I see you Simon, did you?
- 14:20[SPEAKER_03]: And I'll give you a brief summary of something Jeff Hathley said.
- 14:23[SPEAKER_03]: He said that Riley Patterson asked him about the 81 yard return against the, the Bengals.
- 14:29[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, yeah.
- 14:29[SPEAKER_01]: So Bruce is really about it.
- 14:31[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, halfway revealed that they actually did call for kicking the ball through the end zone and the ball wasn't being kicked out of the end zone.
- 14:42[SPEAKER_03]: It was being kicked in the field of play.
- 14:45[SPEAKER_02]: That's what we needed more evidence for the pile on him.
- 14:50[SPEAKER_01]: Like Chris says, I mean, how does he still have a job?
- 14:56[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know.
- 14:56[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I don't understand that one.
- 14:58[SPEAKER_03]: So my question to you Simon, any immediate changes you would like to see because we are It's November fifth, right?
- 15:05[SPEAKER_03]: I have that I have that correct or am I thinking something else?
- 15:08[SPEAKER_03]: Number fifth is the trade deadline, which will be about two weeks away If I have that correct any changes because I that would be happening very very very soon Probably after the jet's game
- 15:20[SPEAKER_03]: So any changes you would like to see, because I know that one's an obvious one, Roddy Patterson, out of here, and bring in whoever, but any other changes you would like to see.
- 15:31[SPEAKER_01]: No, in terms of incoming or outgoing.
- 15:34[SPEAKER_01]: Both.
- 15:35[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think there'll be anybody in coming.
- 15:37[SPEAKER_01]: I've got to say, I just can't see it myself.
- 15:43[SPEAKER_01]: You know, there might be a lot of fire sales down on around the league, you know, depends on what happens with the charges, certainly the cults, you know, a lot of people today after the second of Chris Ballad, but they're retaining his chains like him that will continue to be on the block will, you know, before us back in our Jonathan Taylor, that'll be interesting to see.
- 16:01[SPEAKER_01]: But I look,
- 16:04[SPEAKER_01]: We've talked about him before, isn't it, haven't we?
- 16:05[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, it's actually, though, maybe I thought he had his best game in the season and the last game, Austin Jackson, potentially, although we're getting to the critical mass for us in Jackson, it's getting to the time where, you know, he's going to start falling apart completely physically and there's, I'm sure there's an injury coming, so Josh Each A would be the one, I think that, you know, you kind of like to retain him actually because he's played pretty well.
- 16:31[SPEAKER_01]: But I think I can see any incoming South to be honest.
- 16:34[SPEAKER_01]: I'd be very surprised if they want to retain their picks and they're really strong draft.
- 16:38[SPEAKER_02]: All right.
- 16:40[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I think Austin Jackson is the number one.
- 16:43[SPEAKER_02]: And maybe the only one, because at the end of the day, he's still what, like, 27 years old and former first traffic and has seasons of good work on tape,
- 16:56[SPEAKER_02]: and a lot of experience in a very popular system around the league.
- 17:00[SPEAKER_02]: So, you know, I think that that, you know, change your scenery, sometimes the guys just need that.
- 17:07[SPEAKER_02]: And, and I think that that's, you know, if you're by Amy, you're, you're asking yourself, what's the real downgrade going from Austin, Jackson, to Caden Wallace?
- 17:18[SPEAKER_02]: Which is, who is probably the guy that would replace him?
- 17:22[SPEAKER_02]: So that's the real question, Zach Sealer, the one thing that makes me reluctant about him is that he is kind of leading that DL unit as a player and doing a lot of teaching and a lot of the orchestration of that unit on the field.
- 17:39[SPEAKER_02]: And you might not want, you know, while these guys are still young and trying to get it, you might not want to lose that, you really might not want to.
- 17:52[SPEAKER_02]: I don't necessarily see it.
- 17:54[SPEAKER_02]: Josh Uchay, the thing about him is sort of like, who's going to offer up an asset that is worth more than keeping Josh Uchay for the rest of the year and then potentially resigning him going into next year, still only 28 years old, he's performing pretty well.
- 18:16[SPEAKER_02]: teams don't offer a lot for a guy that has no contract and he has no contract.
- 18:21[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, this his contract stops after this year.
- 18:24[SPEAKER_02]: And they don't offer a lot.
- 18:26[SPEAKER_02]: They only do that in certain situations where the franchise tag is is relevant as was the case with Jalen Phillips.
- 18:34[SPEAKER_02]: where, you know, having his rights and being able to potentially franchise tag him is a relevant thing.
- 18:41[SPEAKER_02]: And even if that's not a relevant thing, then the compensatory thing, the compensatory film or formula becomes a thing, becomes a fact.
- 18:49[SPEAKER_02]: So, I just don't see the offers coming in for Joshua Jay, that would entice Miami.
- 18:57[SPEAKER_02]: Speaking, you know, because I don't think these guys after they were hired, I think what they discovered is these guys were like, I really wish you had you hadn't traded jail in the Phillips.
- 19:07[SPEAKER_02]: I wish you would have let us make that decision.
- 19:19[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, one, one name I would keep an eye on, not that he's going to fetch you much.
- 19:24[SPEAKER_03]: Maybe a seventh run picks up.
- 19:26[SPEAKER_03]: Maybe if you're lucky a sixth run picks up.
- 19:28[SPEAKER_03]: But jail right has had some interest before and they have them on, they're pretty much have them on a penal mind list on the offense.
- 19:36[SPEAKER_03]: Like he's not getting any snaps on the offense.
- 19:38[SPEAKER_03]: This is all the Gordon's backfield.
- 19:41[SPEAKER_03]: And if you listen to Jeff Haffley today,
- 19:45[SPEAKER_03]: He's like, oh, we play it against him and we practice against him in the preseason and you we saw him at Penn State guys are runner, he could, he could really, you know, he runs a power and he was a fugitive in praise.
- 19:58[SPEAKER_03]: He said more words in this press conference about Katernell and that he has it about jail of right since he got here.
- 20:04[SPEAKER_03]: So I think jail of rights days are probably numbered going forward.
- 20:09[SPEAKER_03]: All right, we're going to go to break.
- 20:11[SPEAKER_03]: And when we come back, we're going to turn a very positive page on this podcast.
- 20:16[SPEAKER_03]: But first, these words, our back, I told you we're going to be positive.
- 20:22[SPEAKER_03]: Man, this draft, I'm trying to think of a more consequential draft and dolphin history.
- 20:28[SPEAKER_03]: As of right now, because as of right now, you can't help but feel very, very good about at least three
- 20:39[SPEAKER_03]: And obviously I'm talking about Jacob Rodriguez, Chris Johnson, and Kate and Proctor.
- 20:44[SPEAKER_03]: I don't remember a draft that's as consequential, maybe Richham Webb Keith Sims.
- 20:54[SPEAKER_03]: Troy Vincent was a Trevinson Lewis, no, it was Lewis, Lewis Smith.
- 20:58[SPEAKER_03]: Ooh, it was a Trevinson.
- 21:02[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, Trevinson, Marco Coleman.
- 21:04[SPEAKER_03]: Like those were pretty damn good drafts.
- 21:09[SPEAKER_03]: all the way up right Simon like this is maybe the best draft as a right now it's three guys that should be here for a very long time and a couple have star potential do you remember a better start to this these rookie campaigns and not least recent history last 15 years let's say no I think so and like all credit to them I mean they've kind of had to play you know the
- 21:39[SPEAKER_01]: which doesn't mean to say that they were necessarily going to be good and they have been and I think it start, I'm going to sneeze in a minute.
- 21:46[SPEAKER_01]: So if I just suddenly stop, I'm just going to put on these thoughts.
- 21:49[SPEAKER_01]: I'm just warning you.
- 21:50[SPEAKER_01]: I think it starts with the proctor who I think all three of us were a little bit.
- 21:57[SPEAKER_01]: was a bit of a trepidation, maybe, between the three of us, you know, thought, with Bane and with Down's, you know, there and we actually went for the Lyman, but I think he's been anything from solid to outstanding, frankly, and each week, there's some serious tape that he's putting out there.
- 22:19[SPEAKER_01]: I think it's been really, really well.
- 22:22[SPEAKER_01]: I think Chris Johnson is getting it and gay it quickly.
- 22:25[SPEAKER_01]: I think you go back to that opening week and he sort of looked at you for a bit sorry for him because I clearly passed so much on him because he's a smart guy and he's a very athletic guy.
- 22:33[SPEAKER_01]: I think the last two or three weeks he's looked really, you know, it starts to look really, really good.
- 22:38[SPEAKER_01]: And it's really developing obviously Rodrigues, you know, has been all that you hope for and more, you know, to have the green dot after, you know, as a rookie on the same team at Jordan Brooks, who was an all pro last year, I know Brooks doesn't like having it, but nevertheless, you know, I think that's actually credit to it was.
- 22:58[SPEAKER_01]: The past game of a bit of an issue, it takes a decade, it was kind of highlighted a little bit against the bangles.
- 23:03[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, you know, I think some people were being a bit harsh in terms of the I can defeat him, just get that coverage, you know, level up and not sure, too.
- 23:11[SPEAKER_01]: He's going to be really special, but, you know, he can't ask more than what he's done, Douglas until he got hurt, was playing really well, great, you know, opening game of the season against the Raiders.
- 23:29[SPEAKER_01]: I wonder if Coleman's been just like he misused.
- 23:31[SPEAKER_01]: He's running a lot of kind of down the field routes, which doesn't seem to me to be the thing that you want to be doing with him and that, you know, I just think, I'll be intrigued to see what happens when we have a bigger receiver room and Coleman can go to a more natural position.
- 23:46[SPEAKER_01]: Kaz America, I think has been excellent as a blocker, I think he's like PFF-6th ranked blocking tight end, you know, he slow his molasses, you know, as a route run out, but, you know, I think again, as he grows physically the off season, he's going to be excellent and develop into all that they want and then, you know, tough, I mean,
- 24:08[SPEAKER_01]: Chris, we talked about Tath Breedraft and, you know, the guys just got the brain, the size of, you know, Slovakia, he's an enormously brain intelligent person knows exactly where to be.
- 24:20[SPEAKER_01]: He's a little lying the pants, but that doesn't stop him coming out.
- 24:23[SPEAKER_01]: Like and people with a mouth.
- 24:25[SPEAKER_01]: He can really rhyme and he's all over the place.
- 24:27[SPEAKER_01]: And that absolute worst, he's a really good rotational social safety and a special team's captain for a decade.
- 24:33[SPEAKER_01]: But I actually think he's playing better than that.
- 24:35[SPEAKER_01]: And we'll see what happens in terms of the offseason and who they bring in to play safety and those sorts of things.
- 24:42[SPEAKER_01]: But you can't help but just be super impressed by what Michael Taffer's done.
- 24:46[SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, I think it's consequential because it's had to be.
- 24:50[SPEAKER_01]: but you take your half to them because they're all playing at a decent level and two or three of them are playing at a really high level.
- 24:56[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, the highest compliment you could pay Michael Taff is that Patrick Holmes and Travis Kelsey got in the huddle together and decided to try to outsmart him on a plate.
- 25:08[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 25:09[SPEAKER_03]: That's the biggest comp the biggest compliment you could pay him is that those two first battle hallfamers got together in the huddle and said, look, we have to do something about this kid and this is what we're going to do.
- 25:20[SPEAKER_03]: We're going to actually go fool him here by breaking the huddle quick and running this route.
- 25:24[SPEAKER_03]: one-on-one.
- 25:25[SPEAKER_03]: And they did.
- 25:27[SPEAKER_03]: And they did.
- 25:28[SPEAKER_03]: They got it.
- 25:28[SPEAKER_03]: They got them.
- 25:30[SPEAKER_02]: They got them.
- 25:31[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, so the ending of that story isn't necessarily the best for tap.
- 25:36[SPEAKER_02]: But no, I think that's right.
- 25:37[SPEAKER_02]: I think this draft, you know, it's funny that you mentioned like previous drafts and like have we seen one like this is because all see all season long and even, you know, kind of in the off season and actually kind of right away in the draft.
- 25:50[SPEAKER_02]: I just got this feeling that this is this is so much like 96 and 97.
- 25:56[SPEAKER_02]: Um, those first two drafts under Jimmy Johnson and and if you're looking at like 96 where they did get Zach Thomas, you know, and they got, I think Sean wouldn't in that one and he was a big, he was a big time contributor, Darryl Gardner, and that one as well, Karina Bilgebar, you know, and and for like, you know, there are guys that you look back on now, you're like, oh, who, but they were making an impact right away, guys like Stanley Pricchett or something, you know, guys that that work at
- 26:24[SPEAKER_02]: not on the football field.
- 26:25[SPEAKER_02]: And in the very next draft, they draft Sam Madison and Jason Taylor and the same draft, right?
- 26:29[SPEAKER_02]: And Derek Rogers, I don't think people remember that like in that rookie year.
- 26:34[SPEAKER_02]: Derek Rogers and Jason Taylor were kind of in this like weird neck and neck, you know, who's actually making the better the better impact.
- 26:43[SPEAKER_02]: And so like initially on that rookie year, Derek, Derek Rogers looked like he was going to be phenomenal.
- 26:50[SPEAKER_02]: So it just reminds me so much of those two drafts, those early Jimmy Johnson drafts in 1996, 1997, where we're getting
- 27:02[SPEAKER_02]: and kind of particularly on defense.
- 27:06[SPEAKER_02]: And that's what I see.
- 27:07[SPEAKER_02]: And there was definitely a different strategy, or looked like a different strategy.
- 27:11[SPEAKER_02]: A pointed out after the draft is like on the defense, we hired all these guys, or we would draft all these guys with super IQs.
- 27:17[SPEAKER_02]: right, like you're talking about Jacob Rodriguez and Chris Johnson and Michael Taff, you know, big the big brain guy there, and you know, and also trade more and for his, if you see his football like you out there, it's it's basically like, and I remember after the draft Jeff, Jeff halfway's like looking down the list, he's like, hi, Q, hi, Q, hi, he was on camera when he did this.
- 27:41[SPEAKER_02]: He's like hi to smart smart smart high you know like you're saying that and you're saying about all these these defensive players, but then in offense, we drafted like these tools he guys, you know like kid and proctor, you know, and then Chris Bell and Caleb Douglas and and then stuff like that.
- 28:01[SPEAKER_02]: So it was a little bit of a different.
- 28:04[SPEAKER_02]: strategy I felt like and you kind of wonder if you brought this up like the defense is starting to look well coach now the offense is not yet.
- 28:13[SPEAKER_02]: Well.
- 28:14[SPEAKER_02]: different approaches, you know, there were different, there were different traits that you drafted for.
- 28:19[SPEAKER_02]: So perhaps, you know, perhaps that that plays into it a little bit, but I think this is going to be an ultra strong draft.
- 28:25[SPEAKER_02]: I think Michael Taff is probably a little bit of an unsung hero as a safety.
- 28:32[SPEAKER_02]: I think Jacob Rodriguez is a very sudden hero.
- 28:36[SPEAKER_02]: You know, he is being his songs are being sung.
- 28:41[SPEAKER_02]: Chaden Proctor is doing quite well.
- 28:42[SPEAKER_02]: Chris Johnson has really turned it around over the last couple of games.
- 28:47[SPEAKER_02]: You know, in a remarkable way.
- 28:49[SPEAKER_02]: And we haven't even seen Dray Moore, Kyle Lewis yet, who could be, you know, I didn't even mention Kyle Lewis as far as the IQ and, you know, the tape study, the legendary tape study, he's practicing this week by the way.
- 29:01[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 29:01[SPEAKER_02]: So, so I think that this, you know, you take from this draft class, what I, what I posted on Twitter, right, you know, I had this whole.
- 29:09[SPEAKER_02]: This whole thing about like all the pieces that Miami's building and most of that I forget how many bullet points it was might have been like 12 or something like I'd like most of that was about rookies, you know most of that was about like Caleb Douglas being still among the highest in separation.
- 29:39[SPEAKER_02]: Do you do that math for me?
- 29:41[SPEAKER_02]: Like do that move like of all the targets and the link will us as thrown at first your first read.
- 29:46[SPEAKER_02]: Caleb Douglas still accounts for over a quarter of those.
- 29:49[SPEAKER_02]: And he's is not played three in the five games.
- 29:52[SPEAKER_02]: You know, that's that's crazy to me.
- 29:54[SPEAKER_02]: But you know, Wilka's America Simon mentioned is a is one of the top PFF run blocking grades.
- 29:59[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, for however much you put store in that Caden Proctor Lance Ireland zero line, just a put Caden Proctor Proctor as number six on the offense, like a, you know, on a redraft of the rookies.
- 30:12[SPEAKER_02]: So offensively, he's like the six best offensive rookie is essentially what Zero Line is saying.
- 30:19[SPEAKER_02]: And so I think that you're looking at guys that are really, really starting to pick it up a lot.
- 30:26[SPEAKER_02]: And Michael Taff, this is kind of a weird one, but he leads all defensive backs in the NFL with stops on first down.
- 30:34[SPEAKER_02]: Like, you know, a stop is the offense of failure, right?
- 30:37[SPEAKER_02]: Like, you know, a tackle or a pass break up or something like that.
- 30:41[SPEAKER_02]: He leads everybody in the NFL on our all of the D these in the NFL on first down stops.
- 30:48[SPEAKER_02]: What a crazy thing to say about about a rookie like that.
- 30:52[SPEAKER_02]: I think it's a is definitely a foundational rookie class that has happened.
- 30:57[SPEAKER_02]: And we're not trying to force that one.
- 30:59[SPEAKER_02]: That's just literally how they're playing.
- 31:02[SPEAKER_03]: So yeah, now let's talk about some of the vet here as we finish up on the podcast and I'll start with you Simon.
- 31:10[SPEAKER_03]: Ali Gordon last year was used as a specialist, produced as a specialist to start the season.
- 31:16[SPEAKER_03]: had a rough middle of the season took an injury and then just disappeared after a couple of nice games against Atlanta and yeah he played against the jets had a touchdown against the jets as well and then he just you know just went poof he went away the last month of the season and we came into this season like I don't know he's eminently replaceable now he's playing like a really really good player the last two weeks one of the best running
- 31:45[SPEAKER_03]: is he looting in a riot or do we have another backfield piece to pair with Devon H and for next year and for the future?
- 31:55[SPEAKER_01]: No, I don't think he's left, uh, frankly, um, I think he's, I'm definitely in your studies.
- 32:02[SPEAKER_01]: Um, if you want to do a walker in,
- 32:06[SPEAKER_01]: Bree 24, he's no mug, you know, yeah, 1,730 yards rushing for Oklahoma State that season.
- 32:14[SPEAKER_01]: A 6.1 yards of carry 21 touchdowns.
- 32:16[SPEAKER_01]: So, you know, he was a slightly more disappointing year in 2024 or 25, I don't know, I'll just be 24, 800 and some more time for speed.
- 32:26[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's still a rush for 4.6 yards of carry.
- 32:30[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so he's a good player, you know, he's a good player.
- 32:35[SPEAKER_01]: No, we didn't run particularly fast at the, at the, at the mine of four six or whatever, one, four six, one.
- 32:40[SPEAKER_01]: But he's almost six foot two.
- 32:42[SPEAKER_01]: He's 226 pounds, you know, and he's physical coming down here.
- 32:46[SPEAKER_01]: He's 10-year-old spit was 159 and that shows what he, you know, he gets to the line of scrimmage and in those first five to seven yards.
- 32:53[SPEAKER_01]: He can really buck it up inside and I think he's doing many nice changes, pace with, did what I each had and, you know,
- 33:02[SPEAKER_01]: of the weekend on Twitter was like, oh, we should be trying to bribe Robinson in the off season to, you know, to be HN's backup.
- 33:09[SPEAKER_01]: I'm pretty sure we've discovered who HN's backup is and it's going to be Oligorden.
- 33:14[SPEAKER_01]: You know, he's exactly what yeah, he's exactly what the dolphin's like.
- 33:18[SPEAKER_01]: He's 22 still didn't 10 23 until until January.
- 33:23[SPEAKER_01]: So, you know, and he's been in the NFL for what two seasons is second year.
- 33:28[SPEAKER_02]: Andy, Andy, he fills gaps.
- 33:29[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I don't, I don't mean, I mean, that literally I metaphorically, but like, you know, he fills gaps that are left behind to Von H and because I, H and isn't good at everything, right?
- 33:40[SPEAKER_02]: No, we know.
- 33:42[SPEAKER_02]: So Holly Gordon is a guy that just messes a combines well and so why don't you be looking for a different guy.
- 33:53[SPEAKER_02]: It's a really confusing statement, you know that that's somebody be like looking for a free agent.
- 33:58[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, he's actually, and I also, I think he can, I think he can, his past protection has got better, and he's showed against, you know, he showed against the Bengals that he was able to kind of cut back against the grain and show good vision to hit holes and to see backside lanes and those sorts of things.
- 34:15[SPEAKER_01]: He just looks like a big, sturdy, quick, powerful running back in.
- 34:20[SPEAKER_01]: You know, I think you want to feed him eight to 10 carries a game when even when a channel is back and when he's not, you want to keep loading him up and especially by with offensive line and keep that many once 2022, 25 carries a game and that's me.
- 34:33[SPEAKER_01]: He's going to be a cheers to if we can stack a couple of wins this season and yeah, I be a good player.
- 34:40[SPEAKER_01]: He looks more and more like a solid NFL star with a nice feeling he's decisive.
- 34:49[SPEAKER_02]: You know, prior prior this weekend, I don't know how stacks up after this weekend, but he was like number seven in the NFL in yards per carry.
- 34:56[SPEAKER_02]: He was number seven in the NFL in yards after contact per carry.
- 35:00[SPEAKER_02]: And he's number seven in the NFL in an EPA per rush, like, you know, that this is these are these are top running back, you know, marks.
- 35:09[SPEAKER_02]: And we talk about like, oh, his speed is 45 9461 whatever was.
- 35:15[SPEAKER_02]: He's got one of the big break, he's got one of the big explosive ratios and the NFL among all the running backs right now, like he's he he creates explosive place, there's what wouldn't you love.
- 35:28[SPEAKER_02]: He's a little bit emotional.
- 35:29[SPEAKER_02]: We see that.
- 35:31[SPEAKER_02]: That could be a good thing actually, so like what yeah, but that could be a good thing.
- 35:37[SPEAKER_02]: He cares about it.
- 35:37[SPEAKER_02]: He will you can see it like.
- 35:41[SPEAKER_02]: Imagine him being like part like a big part of the offense, not just the young guy anymore, but like, you know, a leader or something like that.
- 35:47[SPEAKER_02]: That sort of fiery emotion like, you know, can can help keep everybody kind of really locked in and he has that.
- 36:03[SPEAKER_02]: What was it?
- 36:04[SPEAKER_02]: Was it alpha was a week one when when he got like kind of a BS penalty, but it was one of those, you know, totally unnecessary type deals and and we're talking about like, oh, he's going to have to face discipline or something like that.
- 36:17[SPEAKER_02]: And he did face discipline.
- 36:18[SPEAKER_02]: He was pulled off the field by Jeff Haffley and Jeff Haffley and everybody else, we took a second look at the camera and we're like, well, that was a BS call and you know stuff like that.
- 36:28[SPEAKER_02]: and happily didn't care.
- 36:29[SPEAKER_02]: And he was like, you know what, you know, you don't, you don't put yourself before the team.
- 36:34[SPEAKER_02]: And I think that, you know, that's the kind of thing that pays dividends down the road with a guy like him that is fiery and has that emotion because he's going to channel it right.
- 36:43[SPEAKER_02]: And, and I think that that's, uh, we're, we're shaping up.
- 36:46[SPEAKER_02]: He's shaping up to be an excellent asset for the dolphins.
- 36:51[SPEAKER_03]: All right, and now we're going to go around the horn and we're going to get flowers to one veteran for the start of this season and I'll go first man let's let's bottle these last three games for Chop Robinson and and and if this is what we're going to get by the way bad news Chris I contacted Funko in and Funko chop is not going to happen.
- 37:17[SPEAKER_03]: That's too bad.
- 37:18[SPEAKER_02]: I'm still going to use it on Twitter.
- 37:21[SPEAKER_03]: But if we could bottle these last three games and really the last two, but last three, if we could, let's just, let's go, let's be conservative here.
- 37:30[SPEAKER_03]: The last two, let's bottle these last two games and have this B, who chop Robinson is.
- 37:37[SPEAKER_03]: And we only need one starter on the edge next year.
- 37:41[SPEAKER_03]: And you re-sign Uche on a cheap two-year deal.
- 37:44[SPEAKER_03]: And you got your three edge rushers.
- 37:47[SPEAKER_03]: And that's a very quick fix using a high draft pick.
- 37:51[SPEAKER_03]: Or maybe even free agent dollars, keeping Chop Robinson and signing Uchay to a two year, let's say two year, 18 million dollar deal, which is usually what those guys tend to get.
- 38:03[SPEAKER_03]: You got your three ad rushers and I'm feeling pretty good about the room.
- 38:06[SPEAKER_03]: So I'm going to give my flowers to one vet and that's going to be Chop Robinson for the last two games.
- 38:13[SPEAKER_03]: bottle it and let's finish up the last 12, just like you played the last two and we have something for next season.
- 38:21[SPEAKER_03]: Your vet Chris.
- 38:24[SPEAKER_02]: You know, since you've already taken chop, you know, I think it's worth worth mentioning that at least heading into the weekend that Patrick Paul, even though I think we entered into the year and training camp kind of hearing a lot about Chopra
- 38:41[SPEAKER_02]: right in training camp.
- 38:44[SPEAKER_02]: And so, you know, part of that was like, oh my god, Chopra Robinson's going to finally, you know, he's going to finally do it, right?
- 38:51[SPEAKER_02]: And then part of that is also like, are we sure the patch of fall is, you know, what, what we, what we hope he is.
- 38:58[SPEAKER_02]: And since then, I think that he's actually some
- 39:02[SPEAKER_02]: go down and play some good football.
- 39:05[SPEAKER_02]: And I think that you have to understand that the ground zero that's happening in the wide receiver in the skill units where guys are kind of running running around, not knowing what they're doing.
- 39:15[SPEAKER_02]: Resulting in the quarterback, having a hold of all a little bit longer to have a strangle, but that stresses everyone on the offensive.
- 39:22[SPEAKER_02]: Like that, that makes everybody's job harder, including the left tackle, Patrick Paul.
- 39:28[SPEAKER_02]: And yet despite that, he is still, he still grades among the top half of the, you know, among the top 15 or 16 in past Black win rates.
- 39:38[SPEAKER_02]: You know, and that's using the next gen stuff.
- 39:41[SPEAKER_02]: That's where they actually computer model these guys out with the RFID chips and see who's being beaten, you know, on relevant plays.
- 39:51[SPEAKER_02]: And I think that he's done an all right job, even though we've seen,
- 39:56[SPEAKER_02]: You know, in this last game, for example, I think you got the, you got the pants beat off them by on an edge rush, but, but I think overall five games considering the level of difficulty and the amount of stress that's getting, you know, thrown around the entire offense for everybody.
- 40:13[SPEAKER_02]: I think that I've been encouraged.
- 40:18[SPEAKER_02]: Whereas in camp, we're kind of like, wait, is this going to,
- 40:21[SPEAKER_02]: You know, is he going to regress on us?
- 40:23[SPEAKER_02]: Is this, you know, I feel safe for knowing that he's not regressing.
- 40:28[SPEAKER_02]: I guess is what I'm saying.
- 40:29[SPEAKER_02]: And so I'll all throw him as flowers and say that that he's looking like a very good piece for the offense.
- 40:37[SPEAKER_03]: Simon, your vet.
- 40:46[SPEAKER_01]: It was a bit sad that he didn't develop the way I hoped he might in Indianapolis.
- 40:50[SPEAKER_01]: I think he was hamstering a bit, if it had the pun by injuries.
- 40:53[SPEAKER_01]: I think he's been outstanding this season, actually.
- 40:56[SPEAKER_01]: I thought he was best game of the season against the Bengals.
- 40:59[SPEAKER_01]: There are two completions for seven yards in nine targets between Teahin and Jamar Chase.
- 41:05[SPEAKER_01]: He had the renapped PPU in the end zone.
- 41:08[SPEAKER_01]: to knock it away from Fumjumar.
- 41:11[SPEAKER_01]: I can just play really well against the run.
- 41:12[SPEAKER_01]: I think he's been excellent against the past.
- 41:15[SPEAKER_01]: And if he can stay healthy, then I'm absolutely not a quickly be signing into a new contract.
- 41:20[SPEAKER_01]: He's a free agent at the end of the end of the end of the end to the new contract at the end of the season because he would solve a huge problem for you.
- 41:27[SPEAKER_01]: Because his playstyle, his length, his quickness and how he plays the run are
- 41:36[SPEAKER_01]: significant classes and if you can continue in the same vein as he has done this season then You know like I said that removes one big problem and you've all of a sudden you've got two really good corners Who have both very young and are certainly ascending so to me, jiu-jiu-brence is very outstanding
- 41:52[SPEAKER_03]: All right, and we're going to call it right here.
- 41:55[SPEAKER_03]: Unless you want to do two minutes of draft talk if you want to, if you want to sit for another show.
- 42:03[SPEAKER_03]: Because I have a hot take.
- 42:05[SPEAKER_03]: I think, and I'll give it to you.
- 42:08[SPEAKER_03]: And then I guess I'll ask what you guys think of it.
- 42:11[SPEAKER_03]: I've gone over this draft class.
- 42:14[SPEAKER_03]: And which is to say, I've been watching them all play this year.
- 42:17[SPEAKER_03]: I really do believe that it's
- 42:21[SPEAKER_03]: I think it's, it's a, I think more than most of the content with this plot take is that's just been like, I've been, I've been wanting to, to actually think, since you discovered Jeremiah Smith.
- 42:36[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 42:37[SPEAKER_03]: I did discover Jeremiah Smith.
- 42:39[SPEAKER_01]: Two weeks ago.
- 42:40[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I did discover Jeremiah Smith.
- 42:46[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, but no, I tried to talk myself into Dylan Stewart being first overall and I just don't see it.
- 42:54[SPEAKER_03]: I don't see any player that's that's that even approaches Jeremiah Smith and I know it's week seven.
- 43:00[SPEAKER_03]: There's five weeks to go in the college football season.
- 43:03[SPEAKER_03]: So we have a month and a week for things to change.
- 43:07[SPEAKER_03]: But I think we're done.
- 43:08[SPEAKER_03]: And I think this is the first overall.
- 43:12[SPEAKER_03]: on most boards and not all boards.
- 43:18[SPEAKER_01]: Somebody should be fired if he's not the number one.
- 43:21[SPEAKER_01]: If you're stacking a board on the best players, if he's not the number one player on every single team and some GM is doing a really bad job, because it doesn't matter whether or not you want to pick him or you have other priorities,
- 43:35[SPEAKER_01]: you have to take him for us.
- 43:37[SPEAKER_01]: You have to take him for us.
- 43:39[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, sorry, he has to be first on your on your board.
- 43:42[SPEAKER_01]: That's the issue for Miami is that, you know, obviously, and now if you're right to talk about this on fair about the charges and
- 43:48[SPEAKER_01]: The Titans obviously had a win and I think there's going to come a time pretty shortly whether the Titans undergo a gymnast in a conversation if he comes out.
- 43:58[SPEAKER_01]: But the charges have also got a quarterback that I was in six but they've got Justin Herbert, right?
- 44:03[SPEAKER_01]: Titans have got Cam Ward, the the Buccaneers have resigned Baker Mayfield to three-year deal and they've got Jalen Daniels, Washington have got, that's right,
- 44:18[SPEAKER_01]: Now the jets don't pick until sixth and all of a sudden you're looking at six jets, seven eagles.
- 44:24[SPEAKER_01]: Obviously, the jail of her situation is extremely serious and I don't think any of her skills would be surprised if given the situation with the blood thinners and he's unavailable to play until he comes off blood thinners.
- 44:36[SPEAKER_01]: He may have to be on blood thinners.
- 44:38[SPEAKER_01]: for 10 years.
- 44:40[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, that's just the reality, unfortunately, of four years.
- 44:43[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, for life.
- 44:44[SPEAKER_01]: So, you know, yeah, so you can't be able to have the six, the 10th and the 13th peaks, could be a team that, you know, trade up to number one to get that, you know, if Mr make it us come out.
- 44:56[SPEAKER_01]: But if he doesn't, and if C is your car goes back and, you know, you could be looking at a very
- 45:01[SPEAKER_01]: You know, the kind of dirt of, of course, back talent.
- 45:04[SPEAKER_01]: So, you know, you have the hope is that the charges be Miami, the hope is that charges be the raiders, the jets, the bucks that, you know, they've got winnable games.
- 45:15[SPEAKER_01]: I think the Dolphins are all talk about it on Thursday.
- 45:18[SPEAKER_01]: You know, Dolphins on the roadie, it's New York is it is a tough out, especially the way the jets have been playing in last couple of weeks.
- 45:23[SPEAKER_01]: You keep the home game, you know, might be the opportunity to get one on the board.
- 45:30[SPEAKER_01]: I think ultimately for the dolphins, it's going to come down to one of, I suspect, one of three players, Smith will be one, Leonard Moore will be a second to me, he's an elite player that we just don't talk about because nobody throws in his direction.
- 45:55[SPEAKER_01]: Christians have led a more judy-bremes.
- 45:58[SPEAKER_01]: That's called a absolute lockdown.
- 46:00[SPEAKER_01]: The other players calling Simmons, obviously, and we've talked about Dylan Stewart.
- 46:05[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know where you stand out, but I know Chris and I prefer Dylan Stewart just because of just the kind of dumb we like.
- 46:11[SPEAKER_01]: ability, he has off the edge, but, you know, production now.
- 46:14[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, to be clear, I like Colin Simmons, but I think Dylan stores the better.
- 46:17[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, yeah, I like Simmons, I think we all like Simmons, but the issue with Stewart is obviously is production, and that's where the rubber meets the road.
- 46:25[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I think Simmons has 40 career sex, and Stewart has 12, and that's an issue, and he has won this season, I know he's missed three games, it's such a, but Colin Simmons currently has 10 and a half.
- 46:38[SPEAKER_01]: As soon as it's going to miss, probably the rest of the regular season, and it takes us to play off, that's it.
- 46:45[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, he's going to be out for at least five weeks with this ankle issue that you picked up on the weekend.
- 46:50[SPEAKER_01]: But you know, I suspect if Jeremiah Smith, if the dolphins don't go get the number one hit, they will come down to one of those two players, because I just don't think that the personality issues and some of the off-field
- 47:08[SPEAKER_01]: with the joyeric Sullivan.
- 47:10[SPEAKER_01]: So unless they think, oh, you know, what we're gonna, we can move Jordan C into the right side, or, you know, I just can't necessarily envisage that being a thing.
- 47:22[SPEAKER_01]: But we'll see, but we'll see, I think you're going to take a pretty big leap of faith to think that you, your first two jar picks would be a right tackle, you know, a left tackle that you converted to left guard and a left tackle that you're going to convert to right tackle that, you know, it's team needs a lot of help other positions.
- 47:44[SPEAKER_01]: You know, so, you know, Colin Simmons, Chuck Roberts, and Josh E. J.
- 47:48[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, I can sign up for that.
- 47:49[SPEAKER_01]: Then in more judy-bremes, Chris Johnson, I can sign up for that.
- 47:54[SPEAKER_01]: And then a free agent, like a park or Washington, or a doubt, gets out of Jacksonville, but a park or Washington to go on with Caleb Douglas, Chris Betoff, and Jeremiah Smith, there's no excuses for me to eat with us at this point.
- 48:05[SPEAKER_01]: So, you know, those to me would be three.
- 48:08[SPEAKER_01]: That's three hot pigs, Chris.
- 48:10[SPEAKER_02]: What Simon just one quick question before any observations about the class on my part Dylan sewer and and we've we've kind of gone back and forth about this a lot we know about the game that he had the disastrous game where you know.
- 48:27[SPEAKER_02]: up, right?
- 48:28[SPEAKER_02]: And it was a disaster.
- 48:31[SPEAKER_02]: Is there a lot else there that that you can sense that would make the dolphins, this particular dolphins, you know, first and other group uncomfortable with them?
- 48:42[SPEAKER_01]: So I dug into, I didn't do the full dive, but I dug a little bit into some of the background.
- 48:47[SPEAKER_01]: I discovered that he'd been chucked out of a couple of high school games and suspended.
- 48:56[SPEAKER_01]: But when I went through it, it just seemed like a sort of maturity thing and a kind of entitlement thing.
- 49:03[SPEAKER_01]: A kid that's just,
- 49:04[SPEAKER_01]: significantly better than everybody else, finding it in an open and frustrating situation rather than him being a bad kid.
- 49:11[SPEAKER_01]: And I went through, I don't know, 10 or 15 different newspaper articles, where even now when it was at South Carolina, you had high school coaches, you had South Carolina coaches kind of go back for him, which you rarely see if he's not a good human being.
- 49:25[SPEAKER_01]: So I think that's encouraging and some of the the tenor of some of the articles just seemed to automate that he was just immature and not an asshole.
- 49:37[SPEAKER_01]: So you know there's combine interviews going to be vital a second half of the season revival both off the field and on the field in terms of personality stuff but also getting out those production members up one sector season 12 for his career.
- 49:49[SPEAKER_01]: But
- 49:50[SPEAKER_01]: What I love about is that, you know, he just affects the game in so many ways.
- 49:54[SPEAKER_01]: Like, the bend and the lateral movement and the first step quickness is kind of micropastons like, but you watch and take on pulling guards and stuff.
- 50:03[SPEAKER_01]: And he is so rock solid against the run.
- 50:05[SPEAKER_01]: That's the thing that's really kind of, you know, and I get a Simmons is, you know, it is a really good player.
- 50:10[SPEAKER_01]: It's had a great season.
- 50:11[SPEAKER_01]: It's playing fantastic for you.
- 50:12[SPEAKER_01]: Well, but it's just so he asked you, you know, they're just really
- 50:19[SPEAKER_02]: Outside of that a couple of just quick observations one this quarterbacks class if you really I've said this and I think in another one of our podcasts, but if you really just like Simon you just pull up the 2027's right yeah the guys that are coming up there's two.
- 50:44[SPEAKER_02]: And that's it, you know, that's that's your 2027 class.
- 50:48[SPEAKER_02]: So everybody else that could come in and, you know, and we'll add pregnant swars beyond that.
- 50:56[SPEAKER_02]: Everybody else that could come in would be an optional.
- 51:00[SPEAKER_02]: And among the optional Drew master makers only 20 years old.
- 51:04[SPEAKER_02]: And he is he didn't even play in high school.
- 51:06[SPEAKER_02]: So obviously, the NFL scouts are going to have an issue with his experience level.
- 51:12[SPEAKER_02]: And they are going to give them feedback that says, say, and school.
- 51:16[SPEAKER_02]: Um, that is what that is how they they work.
- 51:18[SPEAKER_02]: They will always do that with a guy that didn't even start in high school and, you know, doesn't have a lot of experience in college at this point either.
- 51:25[SPEAKER_02]: Um, so he's going to be told to come back and also the guy that the his coach Eric Morris, who is responsible for making him a multi millionaire because he was otherwise a backup high school quarterback like, you know, he should be getting an internship somewhere out of a financial desk.
- 51:46[SPEAKER_02]: That guy that's responsible and got his big break and to go to Oklahoma State and brought Drew Mr. Maker with him.
- 51:52[SPEAKER_02]: He's only, it just baffles me to think or it saggers me to think that Drew Mr. Maker would leave that guy high and dry after only one year.
- 52:04[SPEAKER_02]: At 20 years old.
- 52:06[SPEAKER_02]: You know, I'm going to screw you.
- 52:08[SPEAKER_02]: I'm going to the NFL.
- 52:09[SPEAKER_02]: I know I'm only 20 years old.
- 52:10[SPEAKER_02]: And I know every scout has told me to stay in school.
- 52:13[SPEAKER_02]: And yes, you are the one who took a shot on me when nobody else would.
- 52:17[SPEAKER_02]: And, you know, and all of that, but still, I'm going to take the money and go to the NFL.
- 52:22[SPEAKER_02]: Because there's still money to be had at Oklahoma State, too.
- 52:26[SPEAKER_02]: like that's the fact that a lot of people don't get.
- 52:28[SPEAKER_02]: Like no, the Oklahoma State is not going to offer a quarter of $50 million contract, but he also doesn't know that he's going to get a $50 million contract in the NFL either.
- 52:36[SPEAKER_02]: Who's going to tell the guy that he's a top three pick?
- 52:39[SPEAKER_02]: Nobody.
- 52:40[SPEAKER_02]: Nobody's going to tell him that, right?
- 52:42[SPEAKER_02]: And if that's not how the NFL works.
- 52:43[SPEAKER_02]: That's not how NFL teams do it.
- 52:45[SPEAKER_02]: Then the advisory committee doesn't tell them that sort of thing.
- 52:49[SPEAKER_02]: So I think that he will probably stay in school, CJ Carr, the only scenario I can see him coming out is actually one work Justin Herbert continues to struggle all the way through to the end.
- 53:01[SPEAKER_02]: And Jim Harbog manages to survive that situation and says, you know, hey, the problem is Justin Herbert and always has been a problem and I think that's kind of an easy sell at this point because, you know, this isn't this year didn't happen on its own, right?
- 53:15[SPEAKER_02]: This is there's a lot behind it.
- 53:17[SPEAKER_02]: Right.
- 53:17[SPEAKER_02]: So the scenario that I could see happening is Justin Herbert struggles all the way.
- 53:23[SPEAKER_02]: Jim Harboss arrives convinces the ownership and with the chargers that we have to move on from Justin Herbert and get multiple picks in return for him.
- 53:34[SPEAKER_02]: And meanwhile, here is Lloyd Carr's grandson and he's staring at, you know, say a number one pick or number two pick or number three pick being held by Jim Harboss.
- 53:46[SPEAKER_02]: You know, obviously very trusted Michigan man.
- 53:49[SPEAKER_02]: All of these guys are in the family.
- 53:51[SPEAKER_02]: And this is Lloyd Carr's grandson.
- 53:54[SPEAKER_02]: I can actually see that, you know, kind of working out.
- 53:56[SPEAKER_02]: Otherwise, CJ Carr's going to stay in school too.
- 53:58[SPEAKER_02]: Like almost everybody that you think is going to really be a big draw for this class is probably going to stay in school.
- 54:06[SPEAKER_02]: mess just the way it's been working out.
- 54:09[SPEAKER_02]: The other thing that is Colin Simmons six foot three 240 pounds is that the guy that you want to put opposite chop Robinson in this defense.
- 54:17[SPEAKER_02]: You know, this defense doesn't want that on the opposite side of chop Robinson.
- 54:21[SPEAKER_02]: This defense wants Rodney McGraw, who is huge.
- 54:25[SPEAKER_02]: You know, I'm sorry.
- 54:28[SPEAKER_02]: And you know, I think that we're seeing Jeff
- 54:31[SPEAKER_02]: like revolving door of those kind of bigger type bigger body types to put it up at the edge opposite chop Robinson.
- 54:39[SPEAKER_02]: So I don't know that Colin Simmons is different enough, especially if you factor in trade more, which maybe you don't because it's too high in the draft to start factory and somebody has slowed down is trade more.
- 54:50[SPEAKER_02]: But I think that that's
- 54:57[SPEAKER_02]: Dylan Stewart, Leonard Boren, and you're a biosmith, and you're a biosmith.
- 55:02[SPEAKER_01]: I think there's two new players that you could consider as outsiders, but so for example, let's pretend that Mr. Maker comes out right and it checks who currently are today picking
- 55:25[SPEAKER_01]: I say the charges go with Jeremiah's faith at one, just for I take the one and see it at the moment.
- 55:30[SPEAKER_01]: The jets trade to the Dolphins 6, 10 and 13 to get to do plus something else back, right?
- 55:40[SPEAKER_01]: You could be in a situation where you're picking a six, you're picking a 10, you're picking a 13.
- 55:45[SPEAKER_01]: I think there's two players that that Sullivan will find interesting and intriguing that we haven't really talked about and will obviously talk about as we go along.
- 55:53[SPEAKER_01]: One of them is this kid from Tennessee, Xavier Gillian, the 6233 pound defensive tackle, who's just absolutely ripping it up, five sacks, two-force funbals, just wrecking schemes, wrecked her sophomore, so hey, well, I'll just go into the 28 job, but my God, he is, he says.
- 56:14[SPEAKER_03]: His game against Alabama started interruptions simultaneously.
- 56:17[SPEAKER_03]: His game against Alabama,
- 56:22[SPEAKER_01]: they were and that's the point I was going to make this is a guy and he was a menace as the white main russia was dipping under the left tackle and under the right tackle and the week getting up the high sign and getting underneath the wing and getting after Killing Russell and that's me was I mean I've seen him line up all over the formation
- 56:40[SPEAKER_01]: The other guy who I think is absolutely and unequivocally going to be a John Erick Sullivan kind of man crush is Charlie Becker.
- 56:49[SPEAKER_01]: And I think not just for what he offers as a wider sealer.
- 56:55[SPEAKER_01]: I did some digging in here and some of the stuff that Sigmyr he says about him about, just the work that he does.
- 57:01[SPEAKER_01]: Sigmyr he calls him hardest work on the team so I've never been around a kid so detailed, so prepared.
- 57:07[SPEAKER_01]: You look at obviously how he runs his route.
- 57:08[SPEAKER_01]: He's so big at 6408, but he can't really put his foot in the ground.
- 57:12[SPEAKER_01]: Really kind of cut hard, wins above the rim, hands around believable.
- 57:17[SPEAKER_01]: He catches 250 balls on the jugs machine every day after practice, strives 3-7 at just electric in terms of the speed.
- 57:24[SPEAKER_01]: But this is the kid that was a three-star guy, played 18 months, just as a standout special teamer.
- 57:32[SPEAKER_01]: I watched his run-blocking snap so the day I was like, this kid just knows how to get after it in the run game.
- 57:37[SPEAKER_01]: You watch me into a higher state.
- 57:38[SPEAKER_01]: He's just out there taking out dudes in the run game on the hill, motion into the line of screen vision and help out with a five technique and we'll get overpowered.
- 57:48[SPEAKER_01]: So all of a sudden if you look at that situation where the dolphins move out, so don't, and I would have better as my number two receiver.
- 57:56[SPEAKER_01]: Ryan Williams would be next.
- 57:57[SPEAKER_01]: I think Cam Calmer has been extremely disappointing.
- 58:00[SPEAKER_01]: But, you know, if you're looking for why to see the help, I think he's a guy that the dolphins would look at.
- 58:06[SPEAKER_01]: And I just think John Erickson would like the make-up.
- 58:09[SPEAKER_01]: You know, we kind of already sort of feel like we know what John Erickson and many carp and looked like.
- 58:14[SPEAKER_01]: And he just strikes me as a guy that would just tick a lot of boxes.
- 58:17[SPEAKER_01]: But I can't see Jeff Haffley wanting to get out of the limit more conversation quite frankly if Jeremiah's not an option.
- 58:24[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I think I think you're right about Charlie Becker.
- 58:27[SPEAKER_02]: I would I think nails on there.
- 58:31[SPEAKER_02]: I think that he would also scratch or an inch for John Eric Sullivan in terms of, you know, he's he's Jerry Sullivan's son, you know, so and and the way he talked about Caleb Douglas versus Chris Bell was very interesting.
- 58:47[SPEAKER_02]: Because he talked about Chris Bell as being like the game has evolved to the point where you take these monstrous, you know, athletic specimens like Chris Bell like and it's not, but he painted it as a very untraditional.
- 59:05[SPEAKER_02]: like an unorthodox, you know, wide receiver pick, but it's because of the way the game has evolved.
- 59:11[SPEAKER_02]: Whereas Caleb Douglas was the guy that scratches the itch for him as, you know, do you see his hips on his brakes, you know, for a tall guy, six foot forage, a guy, do you see the way that he moves, do you see the way that he can cut the things like that?
- 59:27[SPEAKER_02]: And, and I think that Chris Bell was a different kind of
- 59:31[SPEAKER_02]: Charlie Becker is much more that Caleb Douglas like he is a glider he can cut every which way right you know at speed and and so I think that in addition to being foundational from a cultural standpoint.
- 1:00:00[SPEAKER_02]: defensive linemen and this is an area where I think the dolphins will need to shore up some health.
- 1:00:06[SPEAKER_02]: So I think that, you know, you're on the right track with the Tennessee guy, absolutely.
- 1:00:12[SPEAKER_02]: And so I think that it could be as simple as him, you know, and so I think that.
- 1:00:18[SPEAKER_01]: Easy to use in my top 18 picks and my mid to the board and Gansen is one of those stories.
- 1:00:23[SPEAKER_03]: And that's that's that's one area that they're going to absolutely key on a great a great no we're going to call it right here on Thursday we will preview dolphins jets the very rare Owen 5 team versus just have two wins right so just a two and four the very rare Owen 5 versus
- 1:00:46[SPEAKER_03]: with a lot of pressure.
- 1:00:48[SPEAKER_03]: The rare game with a lot of pressure for both teams.
- 1:00:53[SPEAKER_03]: Dolphins win, you can relax.
- 1:00:56[SPEAKER_03]: Okay, if they lose, something historic could be on the way.
- 1:01:01[SPEAKER_03]: So we shall see, but we'll talk about it on Thursday.
- 1:01:04[SPEAKER_03]: That's it, there is no more.
- 1:01:06[SPEAKER_03]: We'll talk to you on Thursday.
- 1:01:09[SPEAKER_00]: Thanks for listening to three yards per catty.
